Episode 63: The Impundulu
In episode 63 we stand in the storm line over the Eastern Cape, where lightning does not always strike where the weather says it should. This is the Impundulu, the lightning bird of Zulu and Xhosa telling. Another name is the Inyoni Yezulu, the bird of heaven. The accounts sit inside living practice. They are not a costume the West invented and handed back. The bird itself belongs to the people who still know what to do when the storm comes looking for a house.
