Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Saylor is back and crypto investors are now maybe in
- 0:03Speaker 1: the disbelief stage.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Today, we'll break it down for you.
- 0:05Speaker 1: A lot happening out there in the market and some
- 0:08Speaker 1: special things we'll be getting into. But before we do that,
- 0:11Speaker 1: I want to thank our sponsor. That's iTrust Capital, where

- 0:42Speaker 1: are one of the diversification things that you should be doing.
- 0:45Speaker 1: to set yourself up for success. Let's go over to
- 0:47Speaker 1: a couple of points I want to lead off with.
- 0:50Speaker 1: And that, of course, is what's happening on the crypto
- 0:52Speaker 1: fear and greed. And you've got fear and greed hovering
- 0:55Speaker 1: at a 75 right now, which is significantly up. Bitcoin
- 0:59Speaker 1: has been holding fairly significantly over the.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Last few weeks.
- 1:04Speaker 1: And now we're starting to maybe move into a phase
- 1:07Speaker 1: where the market may start a shift.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Now, there's a few people looking at this.
- 1:11Speaker 1: If you look at the market And the history, if
- 1:13Speaker 1: you believe these kind of charts in the past, many
- 1:16Speaker 1: people think we're right here in this disbelief area where
- 1:20Speaker 1: will this rally fail like the other ones? And if
- 1:23Speaker 1: we are in that area, there's a lot of upside
- 1:27Speaker 1: to this market yet to take place. And I think
- 1:30Speaker 1: that's what everybody's looking at right now is how markets
- 1:33Speaker 1: will respond in the next few weeks, especially as we
- 1:36Speaker 1: lean into what's going to happen in September with clarity.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I want to go over here because even the traditional
- 1:42Speaker 1: finance guys are repositioning just a little bit.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Here's Mike McClung.
- 1:47Speaker 3: There's a difference between being bearish, a bear market, and
- 1:52Speaker 3: to say sell or to be short a bear market.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I was bearish crude oil. around 60, and then something changed.
- 1:58Speaker 3: It gave you a chance to sell above 100. Now,
- 2:00Speaker 3: there's a big difference between your position and your view
- 2:03Speaker 3: and what you're doing. I've been bearish Bitcoin, you know,
- 2:05Speaker 3: since too early, late 2024, and you've had some opportunities
- 2:09Speaker 3: to sell. This, to me, is a tremendous opportunity to sell. Yeah,
- 2:12Speaker 3: 60 was great support. We pointed that out forever. 77,
- 2:15Speaker 3: I still consider myself short to you, Dave, at 78,
- 2:18Speaker 3: which is use end of the year kudos to win
- 2:20Speaker 3: or lose in that. And to me, that's where you
- 2:23Speaker 3: have to define the difference between the trend and the trade.
- 2:28Speaker 1: You know, I'm glad he said that, the difference between
- 2:31Speaker 1: the trend and the trade, because I think this is
- 2:33Speaker 1: where crypto resides and where TradFi falls apart. Every time
- 2:38Speaker 1: we see TradFi, whether you're a Kramer lover or hater,
- 2:41Speaker 1: whether you're a McGlone lover or a hater. The point is,
- 2:44Speaker 1: is that they don't really understand, I think, crypto in general. Now, granted,
- 2:47Speaker 1: there are some significant things you should be looking at
- 2:51Speaker 1: that are somewhat fundamental. But for the most part, when
- 2:53Speaker 1: you see these markets move, like what they've been doing
- 2:56Speaker 1: here recently, a lot of that is sentiment driven. Now,
- 3:00Speaker 1: part of that, of course, is also geared toward macro.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Here is a clip of Besant talking about Drunken Miller
- 3:08Speaker 1: losing money.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Take a look.
- 3:10Speaker 3: How did that go?
- 3:12Speaker 4: It was fine. Look, Stan's a great investor. He changes
- 3:14Speaker 4: his mind a lot. And he doesn't like losing money.
- 3:17Speaker 4: I think he lost money the day he sent in
- 3:21Speaker 4: the editorial.
- 3:22Speaker 5: Because the market moved against him. But what, I mean,
- 3:25Speaker 5: ultimately the point was, you know, let the third year
- 3:27Speaker 5: do its thing and be the discipline that the U.S.
- 3:29Speaker 5: government needs when it comes to fiscal policy.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Again, my job is to make sure that the market
- 3:36Speaker 4: is looking at fundamentals and that the market does not
- 3:40Speaker 4: dictate policy. As I said, hedge fund managers like to
- 3:45Speaker 4: speed things up. that the- You were one of them.
- 3:48Speaker 6: Sorry?
- 3:49Speaker 5: You were one of them.
- 3:49Speaker 4: I was one of them.
- 3:50Speaker 5: I mean, this was classic what you did, right? Betting
- 3:52Speaker 5: against the British pound and the Japanese yen, identifying weakness
- 3:57Speaker 5: and whether it's fiscal policy or monetary credibility.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Yeah, but again, Sarah, I think you're missing the point
- 4:03Speaker 4: that the U.S. is the best performing bond market.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I get it.
- 4:07Speaker 4: So I'm not sure where the weakness.
- 4:10Speaker 1: All right, so you can kind of see Besson gloating
- 4:12Speaker 1: a little bit in terms of how the market turned
- 4:14Speaker 1: against some of the you know, players out there that,
- 4:16Speaker 1: and this is what we've kind of talked about before
- 4:18Speaker 1: is that where TradFi kind of sets in the middle
- 4:22Speaker 1: of this, are they really ready for what could really
- 4:24Speaker 1: happen in crypto?
- 4:26Speaker 2: I think is the question.
- 4:27Speaker 1: If you look at private client cash right now, this
- 4:30Speaker 1: level has plunged to just 9%. This is the lowest
- 4:32Speaker 1: level in history. A lot of people are missing the
- 4:35Speaker 1: market as it is playing out right now. And is
- 4:37Speaker 1: there a transition? Are we seeing a potential rotation of
- 4:40Speaker 1: capital starting to move their way into digital assets? Still
- 4:44Speaker 1: a lot to be determined as to whether or not
- 4:46Speaker 1: that's going to happen right now or if we start
- 4:48Speaker 1: to see still a bottom coming in.
- 4:51Speaker 2: And let me know what you guys think.
- 4:52Speaker 1: If you think Bitcoin has bottom or crypto in general
- 4:55Speaker 1: has bottom, let me know in the comments down below.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I'd love to get your feedback on that. Now, Tom
- 5:00Speaker 1: Lee says, no, I think we've got a different angle here.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And here's why he thinks markets could rally.
- 5:05Speaker 2: August, you thought would be very good.
- 5:08Speaker 6: You thought they were going to come home to roost
- 5:10Speaker 6: in September.
- 5:11Speaker 2: And maybe have a 10% pullback.
- 5:13Speaker 7: Yeah, that is what I'm sort of thinking as a
- 5:18Speaker 7: base case, you know, because there's a lot of cross
- 5:19Speaker 7: currents this month, that hike in September, the AI data
- 5:24Speaker 7: center backlash, and there's the seasonality issue, you know, September's
- 5:28Speaker 7: a weak month. But I'm actually now thinking, because of
- 5:32Speaker 7: all this mounting concern, the market might surprise us to
- 5:36Speaker 7: the upsides. And I think maybe September 15th, the Fed
- 5:40Speaker 7: meeting is the pivot point. If the Fed doesn't hike,
- 5:44Speaker 7: which is our base case, I think actually the markets
- 5:47Speaker 7: could rally very strong.
- 5:49Speaker 2: The market never wants to hike, do they?
- 5:51Speaker 7: He wants to signal credibility, but he wants the data
- 5:56Speaker 7: to kind of play out. And if the data, we
- 5:58Speaker 7: have a jobs report Friday and we have a CPI
- 6:00Speaker 7: report earlier in September. I think if both are weaker,
- 6:05Speaker 7: I think... you know, the market's not going to price
- 6:08Speaker 7: a hike.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Jobs are going to have a major effect on what
- 6:11Speaker 1: the Fed is going to do on September 15th. Also
- 6:13Speaker 1: remember that the Clarity Act also potentially could get voted
- 6:18Speaker 1: on the September 15th as well.
- 6:19Speaker 2: So that could be a big deal.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Then you look at the hike odds, and this is
- 6:24Speaker 1: where it gets interesting because markets now are pricing in
- 6:27Speaker 1: a 54% chance that we get a 25 basis points hike.
- 6:31Speaker 2: In September. That's pretty significant, but it's not necessarily.
- 6:35Speaker 1: A full-on move to the upside in terms of a hike.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I think we're in for a position where he pauses again,
- 6:42Speaker 1: the market will continue to look at this as bullish,
- 6:46Speaker 1: and I think they'll continue to push through. Now, whether
- 6:48Speaker 1: I'm right or I'm wrong, I think the point is
- 6:51Speaker 1: that the market is already starting to price some of
- 6:53Speaker 1: this in. Now, Mark Kudmar, he talks about the Fed
- 6:57Speaker 1: regaining credibility.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Take a look.
- 7:00Speaker 6: And I think he nailed it. You know I think
- 7:02Speaker 6: the FOMC in July was a disaster and he did
- 7:05Speaker 6: a lot of damage to his credibility at that time.
- 7:08Speaker 6: And I think impressively on Friday he went a long
- 7:11Speaker 6: way to repairing his credibility there. He addressed some of
- 7:15Speaker 6: the issues that he really needed to address in that
- 7:17Speaker 6: July FOMC for example. He kind of undermined the Fed's
- 7:21Speaker 6: target about like what the target was and implied that
- 7:23Speaker 6: they're going to reassess it in January. Instead, on Friday,
- 7:26Speaker 6: he addressed that quite explicitly. No, no, they have a
- 7:28Speaker 6: clear measurement. They have a clear target. And they are
- 7:31Speaker 6: focused on that target. And therefore, he did send a
- 7:34Speaker 6: strong message to the markets. And it was a good message.
- 7:36Speaker 6: And I think it's ultimately good for stocks. Even though
- 7:39Speaker 6: it's saying higher yields, which has disrupted stocks in the
- 7:42Speaker 6: short term, it's higher yields for a good reason. It's
- 7:45Speaker 6: about a restoration of credibility to the Fed. And it's
- 7:47Speaker 6: about higher rates because the economy is hot.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Okay, so this is, in my opinion, a bit of
- 7:54Speaker 1: a razor, a wire that he's walking on right now,
- 7:57Speaker 1: and that is trying to deal with the administration and
- 8:00Speaker 1: also trying to deal with Fed credibility. All of this
- 8:02Speaker 1: plays into how the data is going to continue to
- 8:05Speaker 1: present itself. The jobs numbers will be the first step
- 8:09Speaker 1: moving in this direction here on the 1st of September.
- 8:12Speaker 1: We got a couple of weeks before the FOMC meeting,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and of course, that's when we'll start to see how
- 8:17Speaker 1: this plays out. Now, Tom Lee also says maybe this
- 8:21Speaker 1: is the bottom take a.
- 8:22Speaker 7: Look yeah i i think uh it's been a very
- 8:27Speaker 7: shallow crypto winner um but there was a massive amount
- 8:31Speaker 7: of deleveraging like october was a big step down and
- 8:33Speaker 7: then earlier this year twice so i i think very
- 8:37Speaker 7: few people own crypto yeah i think it's the first
- 8:39Speaker 7: leg up because this was like a catching people off
- 8:42Speaker 7: sides moving crypto yeah um I think institutional investors are
- 8:48Speaker 7: buying crypto stocks. That's really evident. Like the volumes have
- 8:52Speaker 7: really jumped. And that's a sign that they're betting on
- 8:56Speaker 7: a big fourth quarter. I think 150 is still possible.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Like not that far off.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:03Speaker 7: And I think that's because the S & P also
- 9:06Speaker 7: has a lot of upside into year end. You know,
- 9:09Speaker 7: the 8200, I think, is still a low number what
- 9:11Speaker 7: the S & P could achieve by the end of
- 9:12Speaker 7: the year.
- 9:14Speaker 2: All right.
- 9:15Speaker 1: So 8,200, there's a lot of bullish statements he is
- 9:17Speaker 1: making right there. Now, granted, let's just remember, Tom Lee
- 9:21Speaker 1: is somewhat the perma bull around all of this. And
- 9:24Speaker 1: the real question, I think, is where does this play
- 9:27Speaker 1: for the potential of either another retracement? Now, does it
- 9:32Speaker 1: go back to what we saw, a sub 60K Bitcoin
- 9:36Speaker 1: or not? Or have we seen a true bottom there?
- 9:38Speaker 1: I think that's the key here. that plays into what
- 9:42Speaker 1: Michael Saylor has been doing. And I want to lead
- 9:44Speaker 1: off with something because when you look at what Saylor
- 9:47Speaker 1: has been doing in terms of his acquisition strategy, because
- 9:50Speaker 1: this all has a bearing on.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Bitcoin, strategy acquired 4,600 Bitcoin, 370 million. This increased U.S.
- 9:55Speaker 2: cash by 29 million. They purchased 150.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Million of stretch, but they bought nothing when it came
- 10:03Speaker 1: to MicroStrategy. So this is kind of a situation I
- 10:07Speaker 1: think that will play out maybe faster than everyone thinks.
- 10:11Speaker 2: All right, so when you.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Look at the Seller Tracker, you can kind of see
- 10:15Speaker 1: where the sales have taken place. And they've all happened
- 10:20Speaker 1: toward the bottom here. And of course, this was a
- 10:23Speaker 1: great opportunity for them to go in and reposition Bitcoin.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Did not necessarily take action there. And as you look
- 10:30Speaker 1: right here, you can kind of see where they went
- 10:32Speaker 1: in and took out cash.
- 10:34Speaker 2: And essentially, this is where it starts to supersede the NAV.
- 10:37Speaker 1: This is an interesting point as well, because look here,
- 10:40Speaker 1: all of these points and then boom, another hit on
- 10:43Speaker 1: the MNAV in terms of the common equity that's being raised.
- 10:46Speaker 2: So This has a real effect, I think, on a
- 10:49Speaker 2: microstrategy holder.
- 10:50Speaker 1: And if you don't have microstrategy in a healthy position,
- 10:55Speaker 1: all of this comes crumbling down at some point. Now,
- 10:58Speaker 1: can Bitcoin's price save all of this? I think that's
- 11:02Speaker 1: the question that everybody's going to be asking. And of course,
- 11:04Speaker 1: you look at the alternative to that. You have to
- 11:07Speaker 1: go look at ETH and Bitmine. Bitmine, of course, setting it.
- 11:10Speaker 1: They also did an increase in their buyback program to
- 11:13Speaker 1: $ 4 billion. This is from $ 1 billion. And this is
- 11:16Speaker 1: in reference to a stock buyback. This is among the
- 11:19Speaker 1: 10th largest announced in 2026. So that's a big deal
- 11:23Speaker 1: for BM & R.
- 11:24Speaker 2: And I think this is one of the big.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Differences that we have not necessarily seen happen with Bitcoin
- 11:29Speaker 1: and strategy. And if you look at this right here,
- 11:32Speaker 1: this was after the most recent update on BM & R.
- 11:35Speaker 1: They went in and purchased another 153,000 ETH. That's another
- 11:40Speaker 1: 130 million. Point being is that Tom Lee has done
- 11:42Speaker 1: something that Saylor has not. And that is buying when
- 11:45Speaker 1: the dips occur and looking at buybacks when he can.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Very confident and also very strategic moves.
- 11:53Speaker 1: That play into a very good sign for both BM
- 11:56Speaker 1: & R and Ethereum. And I want to go into
- 11:59Speaker 1: Tom Lee talking about this buyback and why it matters.
- 12:03Speaker 8: You have bought Ethereum now, I think, for 65 consecutive weeks,
- 12:07Speaker 8: which I think is a personal best. And you have
- 12:09Speaker 8: also recently in the last five weeks, though, begun introducing
- 12:13Speaker 8: buybacks of the BM & R stock as well.
- 12:16Speaker 7: Now, in terms of equity buybacks, we have an authorization
- 12:20Speaker 7: to buy back $ 4 billion of common equity, ensure that
- 12:25Speaker 7: the stock price doesn't deviate from what we consider to
- 12:29Speaker 7: be fundamental value. And so when we started this buyback program,
- 12:34Speaker 7: we thought the stock was a really good investment for
- 12:37Speaker 7: us because we could actually grow our Ethereum per share
- 12:42Speaker 7: by buying back stock. And we did execute the largest,
- 12:45Speaker 7: over those past five weeks, the largest stock buyback in
- 12:49Speaker 7: history of any crypto debt. We bought nearly 20 million
- 12:55Speaker 7: shares back and we commenced that buyback program when the
- 13:00Speaker 7: stock was under $ 15 per share and it's currently 26.
- 13:04Speaker 7: So I think in many ways, it's been a very
- 13:07Speaker 7: successful program.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I would say Tom is right. It has been a
- 13:12Speaker 1: successful program. And if it continues to form as what
- 13:15Speaker 1: they have seen in the past, this is going to
- 13:16Speaker 1: be huge for Ethereum, but also for.
- 13:18Speaker 2: BM & R.
- 13:19Speaker 1: And I'd love to know, how would you guys play
- 13:21Speaker 1: this right now? Would you look at MicroStrategy and Bitcoin,
- 13:25Speaker 1: or would you maybe fall in the camp of BM
- 13:27Speaker 1: & R and ETH? Let me know down in the comments.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Speaking of one other asset, I want to go over
- 13:32Speaker 1: to Solana. Solana votes now canceled 18.9 million and sold. This,
- 13:37Speaker 1: of course, all happened almost last minute. And when you
- 13:41Speaker 1: look at it, Kraken was one of the linked validators
- 13:45Speaker 1: that switched sides in the final minutes.
- 13:48Speaker 2: And MERT was maybe responsible for this.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You had, of course, Kraken has changed from no on
- 13:54Speaker 1: disinflation to a yes.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Huge kudos to them. And I think this is the point.
- 14:00Speaker 1: We are now seeing the community when it comes to
- 14:03Speaker 1: Solana in full control. Many people would say that's the
- 14:07Speaker 1: best thing that could happen to Solana. Solana, of course,
- 14:09Speaker 1: is going to start to see, I think, some major
- 14:12Speaker 1: moves from here. Still one of my favorite assets out
- 14:16Speaker 1: there in terms of this particular bull run as we
- 14:19Speaker 1: go forward. There are a lot of things happening right now, guys,
- 14:22Speaker 1: and I want to kind of draw your attention to
- 14:25Speaker 1: one thing, and that is when you look at the
- 14:27Speaker 1: macro pressure that we have seen over the last few months,
- 14:30Speaker 1: and for crypto to finally get a bit of a rotation,
- 14:34Speaker 1: is it too good to be true? Well, that's what
- 14:36Speaker 1: we're going to be watching this week. If you like
