- 0:01Speaker 1: Live on Sky News.
- 0:03Speaker 2: This is Shari.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Good Evening.
- 0:07Speaker 4: In breaking news tonight, Israel advances into southern Lebanon in
- 0:12Speaker 4: operations against Hesblah, and Donald Trump warns there are more
- 0:16Speaker 4: attacks ahead against Iran. Full coverage tonight with Israel's Deputy
- 0:20Speaker 4: Foreign Minister Sharen Haskell and retired Special Forces major Heston Russell. Meanwhile,
- 0:27Speaker 4: Albanisi is under fire for a six hundred and seventy
- 0:30Speaker 4: thousand dollars taxpayer funded grant to an Islamic organization that
- 0:35Speaker 4: hosted a morning ceremony for Kimani. Mikhaylia Cash will be
- 0:40Speaker 4: live from Canberra. Add In non Iran news, the biggest
- 0:44Speaker 4: deal in radio has blown up, with Jackieo quitting her
- 0:48Speaker 4: own radio show. Kyle has been suspended and accused of misconduct.
- 0:54Speaker 4: The ASX Notified will bring you the latest with Daily
- 0:57Speaker 4: Telegraph journalist Nathaniel Cooper. But first tonight, we're now seventy
- 1:03Speaker 4: two hours into Operation Epic Fury. Forty nine key figures
- 1:09Speaker 4: in the Iranian leadership have been killed. Eleven Iranian vessels
- 1:13Speaker 4: in the Gulf of Imman have been destroyed. As Trump said,
- 1:17Speaker 4: they're now at the bottom of the ocean. America's B
- 1:20Speaker 4: one bombers have hit Iran's ballistic missile capabilities aimed at
- 1:25Speaker 4: destroying their military stockpile. And these are thirty thousand pound
- 1:30Speaker 4: bunker buster bombs, and the US has announced that America
- 1:34Speaker 4: and Israel now control the Iranian airspace, even removing the
- 1:40Speaker 4: Russian and Chinese air defenses.
- 1:43Speaker 5: The combined impact of these strikes, swift, precise, and overwhelming,
- 1:48Speaker 5: has resulted in the establishment of local air superiority. This
- 1:52Speaker 5: air superiority will not only enhance the protection of our forces,
- 1:56Speaker 5: but also allow them to continue the work over Iran.
- 2:01Speaker 4: This is highly significant. Iran is getting more vulnerable by
- 2:06Speaker 4: the day, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio warns the
- 2:10Speaker 4: military action is just getting started again.
- 2:14Speaker 6: I'm not going to give away the details of our
- 2:15Speaker 6: tactical efforts, but the hardest hits are yet to come
- 2:18Speaker 6: from the US military. The next phase will be even
- 2:21Speaker 6: more punishing on Iran than it is right now. Someone
- 2:23Speaker 6: was screaming, how long will it take? I don't know
- 2:25Speaker 6: how long it'll take. We have objectives. We will do
- 2:27Speaker 6: this as long as it takes to achieve those objectives,
- 2:29Speaker 6: and we will achieve those objectives. The world will be
- 2:32Speaker 6: a safer place when we're done with this operation.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Really strong comments.
- 2:38Speaker 4: We're also waiting to see how some of the Arab
- 2:41Speaker 4: nations will act. Qatar has effectively sided with the American
- 2:47Speaker 4: Israeli campaign against Iran because it shot down two Iranian
- 2:51Speaker 4: fighter aircraft, seven ballistic missiles and five drones. Qatar had
- 2:58Speaker 4: been harboring him US lead for years, helping to fund
- 3:02Speaker 4: radical Islamic terror, so for them now to take this
- 3:06Speaker 4: action is significant. Most of the Arab Gulf nations have
- 3:11Speaker 4: reserved their right to respond after provocative Iranian missile and
- 3:16Speaker 4: drone attacks, and so far we've seen defensive but not
- 3:21Speaker 4: offensive military action from these Muslim majority nations against Iran.
- 3:27Speaker 4: The US embassy in Riad, Saudi Arabia was hit by
- 3:31Speaker 4: Iran and a base used by Australian forces near Dubai
- 3:36Speaker 4: was also struck, and thankfully no one was injured in
- 3:39Speaker 4: either attack. Israeli Prime Minister the Benjamin Ettiyah, who spoke
- 3:43Speaker 4: to the Western media for the first time today, He
- 3:47Speaker 4: indicated to Fox News to Sean Hannity that the Arab
- 3:51Speaker 4: world were grateful to him and Donald Trump for taking
- 3:55Speaker 4: on Iran.
- 3:57Speaker 7: Yeah, well, I think I think Sadie, Saudi Arabia will
- 4:00Speaker 7: have a lot to gain. I think all these countries
- 4:03Speaker 7: around Iran are threatened by Iran. I think they want
- 4:06Speaker 7: to see this regime go down, even if they don't
- 4:08Speaker 7: publicly say that they've just been targeted by Iran. So obviously,
- 4:12Speaker 7: if Iran is removed, that's a great boom to Saudi Arabia,
- 4:16Speaker 7: a great boom to these other countries. And I think
- 4:18Speaker 7: peace between as Well and Saudi Arabia would be really
- 4:22Speaker 7: possible and probably very close once this thing happens. So
- 4:28Speaker 7: this is a gateway for peace, for a broader peace,
- 4:31Speaker 7: and I believe that we can achieve it.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Now.
- 4:35Speaker 4: There's been some concern, unfounded concern in my view, that
- 4:40Speaker 4: Trump could succumb to pressure from the Mega movement and.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Stop the war too soon before.
- 4:46Speaker 4: The objectives are achieved. But the President said today he
- 4:51Speaker 4: was in it. Whatever it takes.
- 4:54Speaker 8: We have the strongest and most powerful by far military
- 4:59Speaker 8: in the world, and we will easily prevail. We're already
- 5:06Speaker 8: substantially ahead of our time projections. But whatever the time is,
- 5:10Speaker 8: it's okay. Whatever it takes, we will always and we
- 5:15Speaker 8: have right from the beginning. We projected four to five weeks,
- 5:20Speaker 8: but we have capability to go far longer than.
- 5:23Speaker 4: That, and as you heard there, he has predicted it
- 5:28Speaker 4: would be a relatively quick war, perhaps four or so weeks,
- 5:32Speaker 4: certainly not years.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Vice President jd.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Vance has been noticeably silent since the war began, and
- 5:41Speaker 4: questions were starting to arise over whether he supported the
- 5:44Speaker 4: military action or whether he was pandering to figures on
- 5:49Speaker 4: the extreme right like Tucker Carlson, who are against it.
- 5:53Speaker 4: But then the Vice president came out today in support
- 5:56Speaker 4: of President Trump and the strikes. Explained that Trump wants
- 6:02Speaker 4: to destroy Iran's future ability to build a nuclear weapon.
- 6:06Speaker 9: He wanted to make sure that Iran could never have
- 6:09Speaker 9: a nuclear weapon, and that would require fundamentally a change
- 6:12Speaker 9: in mindset from the Iranian regime. So he saw that
- 6:15Speaker 9: the Iranian regime was weakened. He knew that they were
- 6:17Speaker 9: committed to getting on that brink of a nuclear weapon,
- 6:20Speaker 9: and he decided to take action because he felt that
- 6:22Speaker 9: was necessary in order to protect the nation's security.
- 6:26Speaker 4: The US is keeping the option of troops on the
- 6:29Speaker 4: ground open, but jd Vance differentiated from the so called
- 6:34Speaker 4: Forever was of Iraq and Afghanistan to Operation epic fury
- 6:39Speaker 4: in Iran.
- 6:41Speaker 9: What is different about President Trump, and it's frankly different
- 6:44Speaker 9: about both Republicans and Democrats of the past, is that
- 6:47Speaker 9: he's not going to let his country go to war
- 6:49Speaker 9: unless there's a clearly defined objective. And I think that
- 6:52Speaker 9: means that we're not going to get into the problems
- 6:54Speaker 9: that we've had with Iraq and Afghanistan.
- 6:57Speaker 4: And he called out the false narrative from Iranian leaders
- 7:01Speaker 4: claiming their enrichment was only for civilian purposes. He clearly
- 7:06Speaker 4: explained that they hadn't given up their ambition of a weapon.
- 7:10Speaker 4: The Vice President said that while a stable Iran was preferred,
- 7:15Speaker 4: he claimed America's military objective was just to destroy its
- 7:19Speaker 4: nuclear capabilities, not regime change. Yet both President Trump and
- 7:25Speaker 4: Prime Minister ned in Yahoo and certainly Iranians are hoping
- 7:30Speaker 4: for a new leader, one who isn't an extremist Islamic hardliner.
- 7:36Speaker 4: The death of Khamane is significant and his lineup of
- 7:40Speaker 4: successes are expected to be killed by the day. But
- 7:45Speaker 4: it's only with new leadership that Iran's new era can begin.
- 7:49Speaker 4: And this is essential, of course for the country, but
- 7:52Speaker 4: even more importantly for global peace. Given the tentacles of
- 7:57Speaker 4: Iran's reign of terror have reached us. Far is here
- 8:01Speaker 4: in Australia, where fire bombings and terror attacks were directed
- 8:06Speaker 4: by the IIGC. Given how Israel and America have already
- 8:11Speaker 4: reshaped the region over the past two and a half years,
- 8:15Speaker 4: there's great hope now that the same.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Will unfold in Iran.
- 8:23Speaker 10: Well.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Once again, it's a tale of two labor leaders now.
- 8:28Speaker 4: First listen to the Prime Minister Anthony Albernizi's word salad
- 8:32Speaker 4: when asked about the Mosques commemorating terror leader Ayatola Kamani.
- 8:39Speaker 11: Who said, no one will mourn the Ayatollah. But there
- 8:41Speaker 11: are reports this afternoon that at least four Sheite institutions
- 8:46Speaker 11: in Australia have either published obituaries of him or are
- 8:49Speaker 11: going to hold memorials to him. Should those materials be withdrawn,
- 8:54Speaker 11: should those memorials go ahead.
- 8:58Speaker 12: We have a clear position as the Australian government, and
- 9:01Speaker 12: I think overwhelmingly Australians will have that position. We in
- 9:08Speaker 12: this country have a different approach to people having different
- 9:12Speaker 12: views from a totalitarian regime such as Iran, but our
- 9:18Speaker 12: position is very clear and I'm sure that is shared
- 9:22Speaker 12: by the overwhelming majority of Australians, including the overwhelming number
- 9:28Speaker 12: of Australians of Iranian descent.
- 9:32Speaker 3: I mean, what even was that answer?
- 9:34Speaker 4: The Prime Minister of our nation, of our country, of
- 9:38Speaker 4: all Australians can't bring himself to strongly condemn those worshiping
- 9:43Speaker 4: a terrorist leader responsible for the murder of thousands, tens
- 9:48Speaker 4: of thousands, and the cruel oppression and execution of his
- 9:52Speaker 4: own people. Albanesi's moral weakness is beyond belief. Sarah Ferguson
- 10:00Speaker 4: pushed him again, and Albanezy eventually slightly strengthened his language.
- 10:06Speaker 11: I mean, these are tricky areas, I understand, but I
- 10:09Speaker 11: just want to be clear about that. Do you think
- 10:11Speaker 11: that memorials for the death of the Ayatollah Hamoni should
- 10:15Speaker 11: go ahead in Australia or not?
- 10:17Speaker 12: Well, I don't think they're appropriate, and certainly I think
- 10:22Speaker 12: that overwhelmingly people won't be participating.
- 10:28Speaker 4: I compare this to New South Wales Premier Chris Mince
- 10:32Speaker 4: asked the same question on a couple of occasions. Now
- 10:35Speaker 4: he immediately blasted those worshiping Kamani as inappropriate.
- 10:42Speaker 3: I think it's atrocious.
- 10:43Speaker 13: I mean, by any objective measure, the Ayatola was evil
- 10:47Speaker 13: and I.
- 10:47Speaker 14: Don't think that we should be mincing words about this.
- 10:52Speaker 4: He wasn't speaking about the Prime Minise. It sounds like
- 10:54Speaker 4: he could have been. He wasn't, though, And by the way,
- 10:57Speaker 4: the Premier is already copying for back for this or
- 11:01Speaker 4: Albanezi will never be half the leader mens is and
- 11:05Speaker 4: it comes naturally to him. He doesn't have to be
- 11:08Speaker 4: given the lines or rehearse what to say.
- 11:10Speaker 3: It's instinctive.
- 11:12Speaker 4: And then you look at Albanese's close friend Penny Wang,
- 11:15Speaker 4: who's been calling for de escalation, de escalation at the
- 11:20Speaker 4: very same time that Trump's team avowing to escalate the
- 11:24Speaker 4: military campaign on a run even further to keep future
- 11:29Speaker 4: generations safe. Well, Pennywang finally strengthened her position on the
- 11:36Speaker 4: mosques commemorating Kamani, but it took more than twenty four
- 11:40Speaker 4: hours after the reports first emerged, and she still wouldn't
- 11:45Speaker 4: say that taxpayer funding to these institutions would be withdrawn.
- 11:51Speaker 15: Are you going to withdraw the money for these mosques
- 11:53Speaker 15: where people are mourning the eyetola?
- 11:55Speaker 2: First, in relation to the mourning of the artola that's
- 11:59Speaker 2: been reported. Can I some really disappointed that people would
- 12:02Speaker 2: want to do that. This is a man who's letter
- 12:04Speaker 2: regime which is caused death, and so.
- 12:06Speaker 16: Will you withdraw the funding?
- 12:07Speaker 2: Well, I wasn't aware of the funding till it became
- 12:10Speaker 2: public today, and I'm sure that the relevant minister will
- 12:12Speaker 2: be looking at why at this but.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Uh looking at that?
- 12:19Speaker 4: No, why can't they just say it will not get
- 12:21Speaker 4: taxpayer funds. Wong should be much stronger in support of
- 12:26Speaker 4: America and israel strikes on Iran. And this was Ray
- 12:29Speaker 4: Hardley's message to Penny Wong right here last night.
- 12:34Speaker 15: Stand up for those poor people in that oppressive regime
- 12:37Speaker 15: who can't have the lucture of the life that you
- 12:39Speaker 15: afford yourself, and we support for goodness sake. Stop talking
- 12:44Speaker 15: about the plimacy when it doesn't work.
- 12:48Speaker 4: But Penny Wong isn't the only one on the left
- 12:51Speaker 4: who finds it very difficult to praise America and Israel's
- 12:54Speaker 4: action against Iran. Another ABC journalist has expressed his opinion.
- 13:00Speaker 4: It follows in the footsteps of John Lyons, who you'll
- 13:03Speaker 4: remember said this.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I think it's been driven by Israel. I think Donald
- 13:08Speaker 1: Trump susceptible to being played. I think Benjamin and Yo
- 13:11Speaker 1: is playing him. I think the real agenda here is
- 13:15Speaker 1: for a long time, Benjamin Ette and Yoho and Israel
- 13:17Speaker 1: have wanted regime change in Iran. They've made no secret
- 13:21Speaker 1: of that, and I think that they have convinced Donald
- 13:24Speaker 1: Trump to come along for this.
- 13:28Speaker 4: And now the ABC radio host Rafael Epstein, well, he
- 13:32Speaker 4: wasn't as blatant in his criticism, but he couched his
- 13:36Speaker 4: views in questions.
- 13:39Speaker 16: Australia found out about this war not from differentats, but
- 13:42Speaker 16: from the president's own social media company. There was no
- 13:45Speaker 16: overal office address. He wasn't in the situation room when
- 13:48Speaker 16: it was launched. He's boasting about killing leaders more quickly
- 13:52Speaker 16: than expected. It is called the name of the operation,
- 13:55Speaker 16: his operation epic fury, is that the way the opposition
- 13:59Speaker 16: wants a global leader to run a war.
- 14:01Speaker 17: We support the action of the United States and Israel
- 14:03Speaker 17: taking for the reasons that I just.
- 14:05Speaker 16: Outlined, and appreciate that, but you that's a very different
- 14:09Speaker 16: way to run a war. Does the opposition? Is the
- 14:12Speaker 16: opposition concerned about that at all? Is the war legal?
- 14:15Speaker 18: Do you care?
- 14:16Speaker 16: Does it matter if it's legal? I have heard you
- 14:19Speaker 16: say that Russia's invasion was illegal. I'm pretty sure I've
- 14:23Speaker 16: heard you use the phrase rules based order when it
- 14:25Speaker 16: comes to China's naval operations. Why do the laws matter
- 14:31Speaker 16: then but not now? So does adjusting to that reality
- 14:35Speaker 16: mean that the laws of war they are only a
- 14:39Speaker 16: nice to have, They are no longer they must have?
- 14:42Speaker 16: Is that what it means?
- 14:43Speaker 7: Well?
- 14:45Speaker 4: And as you might have been able to tell there,
- 14:46Speaker 4: he was interviewing James Patterson, who as usual handled the
- 14:50Speaker 4: questions very well. Then over on Sunraise, this woman who
- 14:55Speaker 4: calls herself Boss Lady Amanda Rose espoused what are, in
- 15:00Speaker 4: my opinion, quite extreme views. She only reluctantly admitted that
- 15:05Speaker 4: KIMMANI was a tyrant, and in the next breath she
- 15:07Speaker 4: said Trump was too. So yep, she's confusing Trump with
- 15:12Speaker 4: the Uranian Supreme leader.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Do you call the Ayatola a tyrant?
- 15:17Speaker 17: I don't particularly like the way he did business and
- 15:20Speaker 17: how he ran the country.
- 15:22Speaker 14: It pretty is a question.
- 15:23Speaker 17: Well, I think he's a tyrant in his behavior. Yes,
- 15:26Speaker 17: But I've called Trump one and I said he's got
- 15:29Speaker 17: a god complex because he just decides I'm going to
- 15:31Speaker 17: bomb a country because I think I've got the moral
- 15:33Speaker 17: superiority to do so.
- 15:35Speaker 19: So you think they're the same, yes I do, and.
- 15:39Speaker 3: That went on for quite a while.
- 15:41Speaker 10: Well.
- 15:41Speaker 4: To be very clear, there is a right and wrong
- 15:44Speaker 4: side here. Iran under aotole Kimani murdered women who did
- 15:51Speaker 4: not wear their veil correctly. It publicly stoned to death
- 15:55Speaker 4: women who were accused of committing adultery, no matter if
- 15:58Speaker 4: the accusations were true of gay men and women were killed.
- 16:03Speaker 4: There is no human rights in Iran, no freedom, not
- 16:06Speaker 4: even dancing or singing. The morality police inflict unimaginable cruelties
- 16:13Speaker 4: that we wouldn't even consider in our modern era, not
- 16:17Speaker 4: to mention that Iran was amassing weapons to destroy all
- 16:20Speaker 4: of Israel and to reach the West. America and Israel
- 16:26Speaker 4: are in this war for the right reasons, to fight
- 16:28Speaker 4: for peace. It's why all of those Muslim majority countries
- 16:32Speaker 4: quietly support their fight. It's why they are reserving their
- 16:36Speaker 4: right to take action against Iran, siding with America. Yet
- 16:42Speaker 4: for many on the left, their hatred of America and
- 16:45Speaker 4: Israel blinds and infects their viewpoint. We should be very
- 16:51Speaker 4: clear eyed about the reasons behind this war and the
- 16:55Speaker 4: threat that Iran has posed and continues.
- 16:58Speaker 3: To pose to all of us.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Well in breaking news tonight, Israel has advanced into southern
- 17:06Speaker 4: Lebanon in operations against the terror group Hesbelah, this after
- 17:12Speaker 4: Hesbela reignited its campaign with missiles and drones. Now the
- 17:16Speaker 4: media band on Israeli ministers has now been lifted, so
- 17:19Speaker 4: for her first exclusive interview, joining US live from Israel,
- 17:23Speaker 4: is Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Charen Haskell. Charen, thank you
- 17:27Speaker 4: very much for your time. Three days into this war
- 17:30Speaker 4: and once again it looks like Israel is in a
- 17:33Speaker 4: multifront war. What can you tell us about this new
- 17:37Speaker 4: front in southern Lebanon tonight.
- 17:40Speaker 20: Well, it is you know, unfortunately, if Isbellah has broken
- 17:44Speaker 20: the ceasefire, when Fbelad has started to continue to send
- 17:49Speaker 20: its missiles and to attack Israeli communities.
- 17:53Speaker 21: Up in the northern of Israel.
- 17:55Speaker 20: When we see that, unfortunately, you know, we very much
- 17:59Speaker 20: appreciate it, declaration of the Lebanese government, but the fact
- 18:04Speaker 20: is that the way they're conducting the operations in order
- 18:11Speaker 20: to exercise the cease fighter where it is meant to
- 18:15Speaker 20: dismantle his ballad, to disarm his ballad, to make sure
- 18:18Speaker 20: that they close down and shut down their production lines
- 18:21Speaker 20: and factories, of missiles, you know, is just not being
- 18:26Speaker 20: done in a way that will achieve this goal.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Just to move on to Iran, Charan, we've heard different
- 18:35Speaker 4: accounts of the objectives for this war. Can you tell
- 18:39Speaker 4: us what those objectives are? Do they extend beyond destroying
- 18:43Speaker 4: the nuclear and other missile capabilities? Is it also changing
- 18:47Speaker 4: the regime? We know Camani was killed in the very
- 18:49Speaker 4: first act of war. Can you outline the key objectives
- 18:53Speaker 4: for us?
- 18:54Speaker 22: So, the key objective, first of all, is to make
- 18:57Speaker 22: sure that the ballistic misstyle program, which is an existential
- 19:03Speaker 22: threat to the state of Israel and other countries as
- 19:06Speaker 22: we've just seen in recent days, and to make sure
- 19:10Speaker 22: that the nuclear program is completely eliminated, that the regime
- 19:16Speaker 22: is incapable of rebuilding it's fanatical power that can continue
- 19:23Speaker 22: to threat the existence of Israel. I think that those actions,
- 19:28Speaker 22: and obviously we said, might open the opportunity for a
- 19:34Speaker 22: change of regime. And we really hope that when we
- 19:37Speaker 22: eliminate the main keys.
- 19:42Speaker 20: Of power and brutality. Brutality, I mean, you know, the
- 19:49Speaker 20: means where when the Iranian people who are trying to
- 19:52Speaker 20: liberate themselves, the Iranian regime have used successive force have
- 19:58Speaker 20: used weapons, secured their people and completely obliterate. I mean,
- 20:03Speaker 20: there were almost forty thousand people who were massacred and
- 20:07Speaker 20: butchered in the streets. Those who were able to escape
- 20:12Speaker 20: and went to intensive care in hospitals were dragged out
- 20:16Speaker 20: of those hospitals by the regime into the dungeons of torture,
- 20:20Speaker 20: into executions.
- 20:22Speaker 21: And so I truly think.
- 20:23Speaker 20: That once Israel and the United States achieved the elimination
- 20:28Speaker 20: of the tools who enable this fanatical regime, this will
- 20:34Speaker 20: be a great opportunity and an important opportunity for the
- 20:38Speaker 20: Iranian people to liberate themselves from this terrorist regime.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Sharan, We've seen Arab nations reserve their right to respond
- 20:49Speaker 4: to Iran's attacks. Do you think we could see Muslim
- 20:52Speaker 4: nations joining the war on the side of America and Israel.
- 20:57Speaker 21: I think it is very likely.
- 20:59Speaker 20: Look, the Iranian regime is a regime that believes in
- 21:04Speaker 20: death more than it believes in life.
- 21:07Speaker 21: One of their goals is murdered them, which means that death.
- 21:11Speaker 20: Is a high one of the highest causes for them.
- 21:15Speaker 21: And so in that this is.
- 21:16Speaker 20: Not a rational leadership or a you know, logical governing government.
- 21:22Speaker 21: And that's why you see them just.
- 21:25Speaker 20: Shooting everywhere, destroying neighboring countries, shooting towards uh, you know,
- 21:31Speaker 20: airports and civilian population they are targeting also here in Israel,
- 21:37Speaker 20: civilian population. They are breaching and committing war crimes, full
- 21:44Speaker 20: blown war crimes on purpose.
- 21:47Speaker 21: They want the most destruction possible.
- 21:49Speaker 20: And I think that this show that we see from
- 21:53Speaker 20: the Iranian regime should send a serious red flag for
- 21:59Speaker 20: every single decent human being in the world to understand
- 22:05Speaker 20: what would have happened with capability of ballistic missiles that
- 22:10Speaker 20: would reach Europe or Australia or America.
- 22:14Speaker 21: What would happen with nuclear capability.
- 22:16Speaker 20: They won't reserve it, they would use it, and we
- 22:20Speaker 20: see them using.
- 22:21Speaker 21: Them in the most horrible ways.
- 22:23Speaker 20: And so, you know, in a world where I've just
- 22:27Speaker 20: heard what you were showing just before about people who
- 22:31Speaker 20: are talking as if someone's taking a joy out of
- 22:34Speaker 20: bombing another country, I think that we live in time
- 22:38Speaker 20: of so much more corruption, where people for good or
- 22:42Speaker 20: people don't remember where our grandparents fought in a Second
- 22:46Speaker 20: World War where people had nowhere to go, people forgotten
- 22:52Speaker 20: what happened with fanatical regimes who are being led to
- 22:57Speaker 20: take over more and more and more, and.
- 22:59Speaker 21: Gain more and more power and more and more.
- 23:02Speaker 20: Destructive capability with no one to stop them, and we
- 23:06Speaker 20: do not want to reach that point. Israel has already
- 23:10Speaker 20: been in that point in almost an existential threat, where
- 23:13Speaker 20: they almost reach a nuclear capability, a ballistic missiles, of
- 23:18Speaker 20: thousands of ballistic missiles with a massive.
- 23:22Speaker 21: Range of destruction. We don't want that for any country.
- 23:26Speaker 20: And people do not understand the danger in that they
- 23:29Speaker 20: receive their freedom on a silver platter, where their grandparents.
- 23:34Speaker 23: Have fought for, have paid in blood to get so
- 23:38Speaker 23: that they will have the freedom for women to walk
- 23:40Speaker 23: around and think, for men to choose to do whatever
- 23:44Speaker 23: they choose to do. And they forgot what it is
- 23:48Speaker 23: to confront such lunatic, such extremist dictators, so vile and
- 23:55Speaker 23: true and fanatical.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Not well said, very well said.
- 24:00Speaker 4: You're in just before you go, and we're almost just
- 24:03Speaker 4: about out of time. I just want to ask you
- 24:05Speaker 4: about this tragic attack on an Iranian girls' school.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Do you know who was behind this?
- 24:13Speaker 4: There's been a lot of different information running on social media,
- 24:16Speaker 4: a lot of speculation.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Do you know what happened?
- 24:20Speaker 20: So as far, I haven't received any confirmation for an
- 24:23Speaker 20: event like that, and as we know, the Iranian regime
- 24:27Speaker 20: they've been trying to put a lot of fake news
- 24:30Speaker 20: in the media in order to change public opinion.
- 24:34Speaker 21: We've seen them putting many many videos.
- 24:37Speaker 20: I don't have a confirmation on that, so I can't
- 24:41Speaker 20: completely you know, disregard it. But it looks like it's
- 24:46Speaker 20: part of the Iranian propaganda as well.
- 24:49Speaker 4: When you say propaganda with that would mean that it
- 24:51Speaker 4: was an Iranian missile that misfired, Is that what you're indicating.
- 24:58Speaker 18: Well, we don't have any any information specific specifically about
- 25:04Speaker 18: that event, so we really cannot you know, confirm or
- 25:10Speaker 18: or I cannot.
- 25:12Speaker 20: You know, elaborate with a lot of information about it.
- 25:15Speaker 20: All right, but we know how the Iranian regime is
- 25:18Speaker 20: usually using different information in order to to actually create
- 25:24Speaker 20: propaganda to move public opinion towards them.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Yeah, either way, it's a very very sad, very tragic event.
- 25:32Speaker 4: All right, Sarann, thank you very much for your time
- 25:34Speaker 4: and stay safe.
- 25:36Speaker 21: Thank you very much.
- 25:38Speaker 3: We're big story.
- 25:39Speaker 4: Tonight in the Daily Mail that the Albanzi government has
- 25:42Speaker 4: given a six hundred and seventy thousand dollars tax Bay
- 25:45Speaker 4: funded grant to a Melbourne Islamic community organization that recently
- 25:51Speaker 4: hosted a public mourning ceremony for Iran's late supreme leader
- 25:55Speaker 4: Ayatola Ali Kamani. Now Albanzi government ministers will questioned on
- 26:00Speaker 4: whether Labor would withdraw a taxpayer funds given to the
- 26:03Speaker 4: Islamic centers that commemorated the passing of Kamani.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Have a look.
- 26:08Speaker 24: The Albanese and Labor government promised last May the Member
- 26:12Speaker 24: for Bruce's electorate six hundred and seventy thousand dollars to
- 26:15Speaker 24: the Tahar Association who have been mourning the death of
- 26:18Speaker 24: Iran's brutal dictator, ay atoll At Kamani. Will the Treasurer
- 26:23Speaker 24: act to prevent this payment being made.
- 26:26Speaker 25: We have made our views about his brutal and oppressive
- 26:30Speaker 25: regime very clear, repeatedly in recent days and before that
- 26:35Speaker 25: both well. It's warned we take any breaches of the
- 26:41Speaker 25: law very seriously. Gayto the Charities Commission and others have
- 26:45Speaker 25: the powers to revoke any of the concessional treatment that
- 26:51Speaker 25: applies to organizations.
- 26:54Speaker 4: And johining Me now is Shadow Attorney General Mikalia Cash Michaalia,
- 26:58Speaker 4: thanks for your time. Look should taxpayer funds be withdrawn
- 27:02Speaker 4: from organizations that are mourning the passing of a terror leader.
- 27:08Speaker 26: Absolutely, this is totally unacceptable, Shari. So what we've now
- 27:13Speaker 26: seen is a labor member has had promised to an
- 27:18Speaker 26: organization in his electorate six hundred and seventy thousand dollars
- 27:23Speaker 26: of taxpayers money. This organization is currently publicly mourning in
- 27:29Speaker 26: person and online the death of one of the most
- 27:33Speaker 26: murderous people in the world, a brutal dictator who slaughtered
- 27:38Speaker 26: his own people and as you well know, exported terrorism overseas,
- 27:44Speaker 26: including in Australia. I have a very basic principle taxpayer
- 27:50Speaker 26: money doesn't go to these organizations. So I want mister
- 27:54Speaker 26: ALBERNIZI to advise the taxpayers. If the money hasn't been
- 27:58Speaker 26: handed over, Shari, it ain't going nowhere, and if it has,
- 28:03Speaker 26: start plowing it back. But I think even more broadly,
- 28:07Speaker 26: mister alberin EASi needs to announce tomorrow look the Australian
- 28:11Speaker 26: people in the eye and say I am now announcing
- 28:14Speaker 26: an order of any organization that has mourned the death
- 28:20Speaker 26: of the murderous dictator.
- 28:23Speaker 14: I have a very simple principle.
- 28:25Speaker 26: The baseline principle Australian taxpayers hard earned dollars should not
- 28:31Speaker 26: go to these organizations. In his un Australian it is
- 28:35Speaker 26: not in accordance with our Australian values.
- 28:37Speaker 14: And I can tell you this. There's one thing Angus.
- 28:39Speaker 26: Taylor has made very very clear. Unlike mister Alberanisi, who
- 28:45Speaker 26: is prepared to trash our great country and everything we
- 28:49Speaker 26: hold dear, we will do everything we can to protect
- 28:54Speaker 26: Australian values and you won't see money under us going
- 28:57Speaker 26: to these organizations.
- 29:00Speaker 4: I played the Prime Minister's response a bit earlier in
- 29:02Speaker 4: the show. He was reluctant to criticize this and his
- 29:06Speaker 4: second answer he eventually called it. I think he didn't
- 29:09Speaker 4: even say inappropriate. I think he said not appropriate. Is
- 29:13Speaker 4: this response good enough, Mikaylia.
- 29:16Speaker 26: Well, I almost don't have an answer to you because
- 29:21Speaker 26: it is so appalling what the Prime Minister didn't do.
- 29:25Speaker 26: So let me tell you what's not appropriate, Shahi. Not
- 29:29Speaker 26: appropriate is jumping the cu at woolies. Not appropriate is
- 29:33Speaker 26: not wearing shoes into a restaurant after you've been to
- 29:36Speaker 26: the beach. This is completely totally and utterly unacceptable behavior.
- 29:42Speaker 26: Mourning the death of the person who led a listed
- 29:47Speaker 26: terrorist organization in Australia. But on top of that, if
- 29:51Speaker 26: they were in any way advocating for this particular organization,
- 29:57Speaker 26: it is potentially a criminal offense in Australia. So mister
- 30:01Speaker 26: Alberanzi has yet again shown the Australian people he does
- 30:05Speaker 26: not have the backbone, the spine or the guts to
- 30:09Speaker 26: look them in the eye and say, what has occurred
- 30:13Speaker 26: to these organizations is It's not just unacceptable, it is
- 30:17Speaker 26: completely UnAustralian and we need to put a stop to it.
- 30:22Speaker 26: Shari again, fundamental difference. Albanesi prepared to trash and turn
- 30:28Speaker 26: his back on Australian values. Angus Taylor first and foremost
- 30:33Speaker 26: protect and stand up for Australian values.
- 30:39Speaker 4: The ISIS cohort and I think we should call them
- 30:42Speaker 4: the ISIS cohort, not.
- 30:43Speaker 3: The ISIS brides.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Yet they're with the focus again of question time today
- 30:47Speaker 4: things get pretty heated.
- 30:48Speaker 14: To have a look.
- 30:50Speaker 13: Can the PM confirm that none of his ministers nor
- 30:53Speaker 13: any member of staff made representations to any relevant departments
- 30:58Speaker 13: or agencies to support or expedite the issuing of Australian
- 31:03Speaker 13: passports to ISIS sympathizers. In Syria.
- 31:07Speaker 12: They're Australian citizens. They now have an entitlement, a right
- 31:10Speaker 12: to come back to our country. There's no silver bullet,
- 31:14Speaker 12: not my words, the words of that soft person, Preter Dutton.
- 31:20Speaker 12: The hypocrisy on this is extraordinary, given that forty people
- 31:24Speaker 12: came home on their watch, including including not partners or relatives,
- 31:31Speaker 12: including ISIS fighters.
- 31:34Speaker 4: So two things. Firstly, how is the response from previous
- 31:40Speaker 4: coalition governments different to the Albanese government? And also have
- 31:44Speaker 4: you actually got an answer on whether anyone in the
- 31:47Speaker 4: Albanese government assisted with giving passpots to this group?
- 31:54Speaker 14: No, we haven't.
- 31:55Speaker 26: The government is misleading, It is lying to the Australian
- 31:59Speaker 26: people free step of the way in relation to the
- 32:03Speaker 26: assistance that is giving to the ISIS brides. I mean,
- 32:06Speaker 26: what more proof could you need? There is Dr Jamal Riffi.
- 32:11Speaker 26: He proudly wears the T shirt Friends of Tony Burke.
- 32:15Speaker 26: Tony Burke, the relevant minister. He's there at Tony's election
- 32:21Speaker 26: party celebrating his win.
- 32:23Speaker 14: He is currently on the ground.
- 32:25Speaker 26: Working out how to get the ISIS cohort back to Australia.
- 32:30Speaker 26: These are women who turned their back on our great country.
- 32:35Speaker 26: They turned their back on everything we stand for. They forfeited,
- 32:40Speaker 26: quite frankly, the right to come back to this country
- 32:44Speaker 26: when they want to.
- 32:45Speaker 14: But this government throws its hands up and.
- 32:48Speaker 26: Uses every bit of weasel words in the book to
- 32:52Speaker 26: make excuses. Again, Angus Taylor has made it very very
- 32:56Speaker 26: clear the government will use every lever.
- 33:01Speaker 4: We're completely out of time, we use every leaver. What
- 33:04Speaker 4: the Prime Minister said there that you know Peter Dutton
- 33:07Speaker 4: as Home Affairs Minister didn't act any differently.
- 33:12Speaker 14: Oh please come on.
- 33:13Speaker 26: And that's the same prime minister who during the election
- 33:16Speaker 26: campaign was saying that Peter Dutton was so tough he
- 33:20Speaker 26: would actually scare people. So please don't believe a word
- 33:25Speaker 26: this Prime Minister is saying.
- 33:27Speaker 3: So you're touching them on their record.
- 33:32Speaker 26: We brought back orphans, We were up front with the
- 33:35Speaker 26: Australian people and we repatriated them. This is a fundamentally
- 33:41Speaker 26: different situation. This is a government that is not lifting
- 33:45Speaker 26: a finger to stop these brides coming back.
- 33:49Speaker 14: We have made it very very clear we.
- 33:51Speaker 26: Will use every single lever available to us to shut
- 33:57Speaker 26: the door on them. So very simple principle. You either
- 34:01Speaker 26: stand for that principle or you don't. And mister Albanezi
- 34:05Speaker 26: doesn't all.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Right, and he hasn't been transparent about it, that's for sure,
- 34:09Speaker 4: all right, mikaylay Cash, you appreciate your time. Thank you
- 34:12Speaker 4: Now still to Calm Barriston and Tasha Holstorff responds to
- 34:15Speaker 4: the claims the war and Iran is illegal. And we'll
- 34:19Speaker 4: get to the breaking news today of the demise of
- 34:22Speaker 4: the Kyle and JACKIEO Show. So breaking news tonight. JACKIEO
- 34:26Speaker 4: has quit. Kyle has been suspended for misconduct. We'll get
- 34:30Speaker 4: the details with the Daily Telegraph reporter after this quick break.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Welcome back tonight.
- 34:38Speaker 4: One of the biggest names in Australian radio is blowing
- 34:41Speaker 4: up in real time and the Kyle and JACKIEO Show
- 34:44Speaker 4: is over. This all traces back to an on air
- 34:47Speaker 4: blow up on the twentieth of February when Kyle went
- 34:51Speaker 4: after Jackie O.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Have a listen.
- 34:54Speaker 10: But I don't think it should be at the detriment
- 34:56Speaker 10: of everything else on the show. This relentless research into
- 35:00Speaker 10: then I was literally just doing it. Then it's affecting
- 35:06Speaker 10: other things, like your fixation on this has made you
- 35:10Speaker 10: almost unworkable.
- 35:11Speaker 27: I totally am offended by you saying something too.
- 35:15Speaker 10: Bad if you are, because that's the reality of what
- 35:17Speaker 10: we're dealing with here.
- 35:18Speaker 27: Do you make out like you sit there like you're perfect?
- 35:22Speaker 27: And I would never bring them up, and I would
- 35:24Speaker 27: never say.
- 35:24Speaker 10: What would it mean?
- 35:25Speaker 18: What I don't do?
- 35:26Speaker 10: You can't start crying about it. Well, it's not even
- 35:28Speaker 10: that big a deal.
- 35:30Speaker 4: And I don't listen to the show, not for any
- 35:35Speaker 4: reason other than I'm listening to two GB to the news.
- 35:37Speaker 4: But I understand that was triggered by JACKIEO doing some
- 35:41Speaker 4: astrology research for the former Prince Andrew. Now she's been
- 35:46Speaker 4: off there ever since.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Then.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Tonight, ARN released an official statement saying that JACKIEO has
- 35:51Speaker 4: given notice that she cannot continue to work with Kyle
- 35:54Speaker 4: Sandalans and the services have been terminated. ARN have also
- 36:00Speaker 4: has said that they've provided written notice to Kyle that
- 36:03Speaker 4: it considers his behavior during the show on the twenty
- 36:06Speaker 4: February an act of serious misconduct and he now has
- 36:10Speaker 4: fourteen days to.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Remedy this breach.
- 36:13Speaker 4: If it's not remedied, ARN will terminate the services agreement,
- 36:17Speaker 4: and in that event, Sandaland's will cease to present.
- 36:20Speaker 3: The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
- 36:23Speaker 4: Now joding me now is Nathaniel Cooper, senior reporter at
- 36:25Speaker 4: the Daily Telegraph.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Good to see you.
- 36:28Speaker 28: Good to see you.
- 36:28Speaker 10: Now.
- 36:28Speaker 4: You broke the story in the Sunday Telegraph that there
- 36:31Speaker 4: have been ongoing tensions between the pair.
- 36:34Speaker 10: Yeah, that's right.
- 36:35Speaker 28: Sources told me that it's been up to a year
- 36:38Speaker 28: that they've been having problems. There's been times when Jackie
- 36:40Speaker 28: has left the studio and broadcasts from home. They've played
- 36:44Speaker 28: a pre recorded bit while she's been traveling because the
- 36:48Speaker 28: tension between them has been so thick, and then it
- 36:51Speaker 28: is all culminated. They've come back on air just a
- 36:54Speaker 28: few weeks ago actually, and it's all culminated in this
- 36:56Speaker 28: huge blow up between them on the twentieth of February.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Now, this is I mean, this is probably the biggest
- 37:02Speaker 4: media deal, not just in radio, but it's one hundred million.
- 37:05Speaker 28: Dollar deal one hundred million dollars each for ten years,
- 37:08Speaker 28: so a two hundred million dollar deal to keep them
- 37:10Speaker 28: on air together. They're just into the start of the
- 37:14Speaker 28: second year of the contract, so another eight and a
- 37:16Speaker 28: bit years. It's a huge amount of money that arn
- 37:22Speaker 28: bet on their success and part of that was the
- 37:25Speaker 28: syndication into Melbourne and then plans to syndicate the show
- 37:28Speaker 28: into other cities, and the Melbourne syndication has been a
- 37:32Speaker 28: dismal failure.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Now we haven't heard from Kyle yet, no, but he
- 37:37Speaker 4: has been taken off air.
- 37:38Speaker 28: Yes, so tomorrow morning when listeners tune in to Kiss
- 37:43Speaker 28: FM in Sydney Melbourne, there'll be a different show on.
- 37:45Speaker 28: The whole show has been taken off air. Jackie O
- 37:48Speaker 28: gave AARN notice that she couldn't work with him anymore,
- 37:51Speaker 28: so they've kind of had to pull some kind of
- 37:54Speaker 28: handbrake another They've given Kyle fourteen days to say he
- 37:58Speaker 28: didn't do serious misconduct.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Now there's been speculation that she's considering legal action. We
- 38:05Speaker 4: don't know the extent of that, but clearly given this statement,
- 38:07Speaker 4: there are lawyers involved.
- 38:09Speaker 28: Yeah, definitely. We've heard that Jackie bought lawyers in and
- 38:13Speaker 28: whether they were there to help negotiate the terms of
- 38:16Speaker 28: her exit with the notice that she gave, or whether
- 38:19Speaker 28: she intends to pursue legal action against RN, we don't know.
- 38:23Speaker 28: We do know that ARN has left the door open
- 38:25Speaker 28: for her to present another show on the ARN network,
- 38:28Speaker 28: so that's Kiss FM and Gold FM around the country.
- 38:32Speaker 28: Whether they bring her back in for breakfast with someone else,
- 38:35Speaker 28: whether they give her a different timeslot, whether they move
- 38:38Speaker 28: her over onto Gold, who knows whether she even wants
- 38:40Speaker 28: to continue doing it.
- 38:42Speaker 3: I mean, a lot of money's on the table though.
- 38:45Speaker 3: It's huge now.
- 38:46Speaker 4: I mean I spoke to well, actually spoke to Peter Ford,
- 38:50Speaker 4: who also has been doing some reporting on this. He
- 38:53Speaker 4: broke a story about this on Sunrise this morning, and
- 38:56Speaker 4: he said that there are some senior figures at ARN
- 38:59Speaker 4: who were not happy about this because the deal was
- 39:02Speaker 4: done under previous management.
- 39:04Speaker 3: There's still eight years left.
- 39:05Speaker 4: It's a lot of money, and they wouldn't mind, you know,
- 39:09Speaker 4: saving on the costs.
- 39:10Speaker 28: Yeah, that's absolutely correct. The almost the entire RN executive
- 39:15Speaker 28: team have been there for less than a year, so
- 39:17Speaker 28: they inherited this, you know, two hundred million dollar albatross
- 39:20Speaker 28: around their neck, which I'm sure, given the state of
- 39:24Speaker 28: advertising on broadcast radio, they're pretty keen to.
- 39:29Speaker 4: Believe them, especially because there's some activist organizations which you know,
- 39:33Speaker 4: campaign companies to not advertise. Were great work, and your
- 39:37Speaker 4: Scoop and Sunday and thank you for joining.
- 39:39Speaker 28: Us, Thank you for having me.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Still to come. Kamala Harris's embarrassing take on the military
- 39:45Speaker 4: action in Iran and is the war illegal? Natasha Hastaff
- 39:49Speaker 4: will be on the show after the break. Critics from
- 39:57Speaker 4: the ABC to Malcolm Turnbull to Kamala Harris have declared
- 40:00Speaker 4: the Trump nedna who strikes on a run illegal aggression,
- 40:05Speaker 4: as if the world's meant to sit politely while the
- 40:07Speaker 4: Iranian regime funds terror and threatens everyone around it. Well,
- 40:13Speaker 4: here's the woman who wanted to be president.
- 40:16Speaker 6: American people do not want our sons and daughters to
- 40:20Speaker 6: go into this unauthorized war of choice, and I unequivocally
- 40:25Speaker 6: oppose it.
- 40:27Speaker 4: And joining me now is barrister and international law specialist
- 40:30Speaker 4: Natasha Hastoff. And good to see you again, or what's
- 40:34Speaker 4: your response to those who say the strikes are illegals?
- 40:40Speaker 19: Are always good to be with you.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 40:43Speaker 19: The framing of these criticisms against the strikes, both here
- 40:48Speaker 19: as a war of choice and as illegal, are pretty remarkable.
- 40:52Speaker 19: If it's a choice between survival and taking that preemptive
- 40:57Speaker 19: strike that the President was discussing, then that might be
- 41:00Speaker 19: a choice, but it's not a particularly positive one. The
- 41:05Speaker 19: claims of illegality are unfortunately based upon the totally incorrect
- 41:10Speaker 19: framing of what this military action by the United States
- 41:14Speaker 19: and Israel comprises. And it's really important to understand the
- 41:17Speaker 19: context in which these strikes have been taken, which is
- 41:20Speaker 19: the ongoing arm conflict between Israel and Iran, one that
- 41:25Speaker 19: has been going for some decades, and indeed one in
- 41:28Speaker 19: which the United States has been involved before, both as
- 41:31Speaker 19: support to Israel. But looking carefully at the words of
- 41:35Speaker 19: the President when these operations began, we can also understand
- 41:39Speaker 19: the US seeking to preempt what was considered to be
- 41:43Speaker 19: an imminent threat posed by the Islamic regime in Iran
- 41:47Speaker 19: to America, to American interests, and to the interests of
- 41:50Speaker 19: its allies. These protestations of illegality, you know, we've heard
- 41:55Speaker 19: of some sort of popular mantra, aren't based in real
- 41:58Speaker 19: international law, used as a sort of cover for the
- 42:03Speaker 19: policy positions which are quite frankly, rather anti Western. Given
- 42:08Speaker 19: the immense impact that this activity is going to have
- 42:13Speaker 19: on protecting the interests of Western civilization.
- 42:16Speaker 4: There's also precedent tia, though, isn't there Because Obama took
- 42:22Speaker 4: military action in Libya in twenty eleven, didn't get it
- 42:25Speaker 4: signed off with Congress first, then he expanded strikes into
- 42:29Speaker 4: Syria against ISIS in twenty fourteen, again without congressional approval.
- 42:33Speaker 4: Biden ordered strikes in Syria February twenty twenty one, then
- 42:37Speaker 4: retaliatory strikes around the Iraq Syria border in June twenty
- 42:41Speaker 4: twenty one. So there is precedent for this is and
- 42:45Speaker 4: they're not taking a war to Congress.
- 42:48Speaker 19: In both regards, so I was addressing the applicable international law.
- 42:52Speaker 19: But of course these same politicians in the United States
- 42:55Speaker 19: have been claiming that this is unconstitutional. I don't know
- 42:58Speaker 19: when the last time they read the Constitution was, but
- 43:01Speaker 19: it makes it clear that the president is the head
- 43:03Speaker 19: of the armed forces, can direct military activity. There has
- 43:07Speaker 19: not been a declaration of war, and I think the
- 43:09Speaker 19: words that the president chose talking about major combat operations
- 43:14Speaker 19: were carefully chosen on his part. So while a declaration
- 43:19Speaker 19: of war has to be taken to Congress under the
- 43:22Speaker 19: War Powers Act, there is no restriction on the action
- 43:25Speaker 19: that the president has taken. And in fact, it's somewhat
- 43:28Speaker 19: unconstitutional or even an attack on the US Constitution to
- 43:32Speaker 19: suggest that what the president has done violates the legal
- 43:36Speaker 19: framework in the United States. So in both regards, both
- 43:39Speaker 19: on the international footing and in terms of the domestic
- 43:42Speaker 19: framework of the US Constitution, this is not an accurate
- 43:46Speaker 19: portrayal of what the law says.
- 43:50Speaker 4: Just finally, while Iranians broadly are supportive and you know,
- 43:55Speaker 4: of course there's always going to be casualties in a
- 43:58Speaker 4: war and it is a terrify time, but they are
- 44:01Speaker 4: supportive of action against the regime. We have seen protests
- 44:05Speaker 4: in the West, right around the world against these strikes.
- 44:09Speaker 4: So what is the obsession here, not with Iran's conduct,
- 44:13Speaker 4: but with Israel and America's actions.
- 44:17Speaker 19: Well, there is a pattern that has emerged. I didn't
- 44:19Speaker 19: see these same groups protesting at the slaughter of tens
- 44:25Speaker 19: of thousands of Iranians who were protesting the Islamic regime
- 44:30Speaker 19: only last month, and that is pretty telling. This movement
- 44:35Speaker 19: very linked. It would seem to the woke position. It
- 44:41Speaker 19: seems to support the despots and dictatorships of this world. Indeed,
- 44:45Speaker 19: it suggests that countries may not be permitted to exercise
- 44:49Speaker 19: their self defense when they are the stronger party. I mean,
- 44:52Speaker 19: if you can believe it, we've been hearing that because
- 44:54Speaker 19: the military capability of the US and of Israel is
- 44:57Speaker 19: so much superior to Iran that these strikes are in
- 45:01Speaker 19: some way are unlawful or impermissible. The laura has never
- 45:05Speaker 19: worked like that. Common sense certainly doesn't work like that.
- 45:08Speaker 19: But this mentality that we're seeing that has caused these
- 45:11Speaker 19: people to go up the streets is very, very worrying indeed,
- 45:15Speaker 19: and it is part and parcel of this mind virus
- 45:18Speaker 19: that we have seen which is undermining so many of
- 45:21Speaker 19: the interests in the West.
- 45:24Speaker 4: Natasha Postoff, always a pleasure to have you on.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Thank you very much. Don't go anywhere.
- 45:29Speaker 4: A friend of an Isi spride lifts the lid on
- 45:32Speaker 4: what she was really like. Retired Special Forces major Heston Russell,
- 45:36Speaker 4: who fought.
- 45:36Speaker 3: ISIS or joining me next.
- 45:42Speaker 4: Well, a farmer roommate of one of the Isis sprides,
- 45:45Speaker 4: has spoken to Ben Fordham about what she was really
- 45:48Speaker 4: like cavally sin Well.
- 45:51Speaker 20: Just sitting around chatting as to do with your friends.
- 45:55Speaker 20: And she didn't have any children at the time, so
- 45:58Speaker 20: someone made the comment.
- 45:59Speaker 4: What a you go back to school before you have children,
- 46:02Speaker 4: and she said, I'd rather learn how to make bombs.
- 46:06Speaker 4: And she also claimed she used her super to join
- 46:09Speaker 4: Islamic State. Will joining me now to discuss is retired
- 46:12Speaker 4: Special Foss's Major Heston Russell Heston, thanks for your time now.
- 46:17Speaker 4: You courageously served in Iraq in twenty sixteen. In twenty seventeen,
- 46:22Speaker 4: you were leading the international special operations planning against Dash
- 46:28Speaker 4: against isl as it was then known the same as Isis.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Can you tell us what you faced when you were
- 46:35Speaker 4: fighting there, because it seems like a lot of people
- 46:37Speaker 4: have forgotten the threat of isis.
- 46:42Speaker 29: There get a Sharon great question. You know, this is
- 46:44Speaker 29: the last of my five deployments to the Middle East
- 46:47Speaker 29: on combat operations, and it was taking the fight to
- 46:50Speaker 29: what is pure evil on earth. These are ideologically addicted people.
- 46:54Speaker 29: They are fanatical. They have no care for life. I've
- 46:57Speaker 29: been exposed to a lot of death and destruction in
- 47:00Speaker 29: my time, but these people trade in it on the daily,
- 47:03Speaker 29: and they were executing women and children, cutting them in
- 47:06Speaker 29: half and stringing them off off buildings, off street poles.
- 47:09Speaker 14: They believe that.
- 47:10Speaker 29: Their way of life, their extremist Shunni Sunni way of life,
- 47:14Speaker 29: was the only one and would destroy anyone and everything
- 47:16Speaker 29: in the most horrific way. And we had the privilege
- 47:20Speaker 29: of fighting and supporting with the Iraqis to help remove
- 47:22Speaker 29: them from Mosul and forty two other international countries who joined,
- 47:26Speaker 29: identifying the real threat that these people are and were
- 47:29Speaker 29: and still are today in this society because you don't
- 47:32Speaker 29: walk away from that ideology. That ideology, and these people
- 47:37Speaker 29: are trained that martyrdom, that death in doing this destruction
- 47:41Speaker 29: will bring them salvation and profit in the afterlife. And
- 47:43Speaker 29: these are people who need to be rehabilitated before there
- 47:47Speaker 29: is any conversation about reintegration into Australian society.
- 47:52Speaker 4: I've made this point a number of times over the
- 47:54Speaker 4: past couple of weeks as we've been having this debate
- 47:57Speaker 4: that Australian authorities haven't act actually had access to this
- 48:01Speaker 4: group since twenty twenty two, so they don't have a
- 48:07Speaker 4: proper knowledge base of exactly whether they are radicalized, how
- 48:11Speaker 4: radicalized they are. We know that there three are considered
- 48:15Speaker 4: extreme or their risks are.
- 48:16Speaker 3: About three of them.
- 48:18Speaker 4: But do you think we should be allowing this isis
- 48:21Speaker 4: cohort back into Australia unless our authorities and our agencies
- 48:25Speaker 4: have had access to assess them.
- 48:30Speaker 24: Well.
- 48:30Speaker 29: First and foremost, I don't understand how any Australian citizen
- 48:34Speaker 29: going to a known war zone and interacting with let
- 48:37Speaker 29: alone living with let alone, taking miners children to be
- 48:41Speaker 29: associated with known terrorist individuals and organizations is not a
- 48:44Speaker 29: crime that sees them incarcerated as soon as they come
- 48:47Speaker 29: to Australia. That's the first point. If there's not legislation
- 48:50Speaker 29: being passed to rectify that, then I believe our government's
- 48:52Speaker 29: not doing its job. Secondly, like I said beforehand, this
- 48:56Speaker 29: ideology is so fanatical, so brutal, so evil that any
- 49:00Speaker 29: perceived risk to austrain public has to come first. They
- 49:02Speaker 29: need to be assessed and gone through a process whereby
- 49:06Speaker 29: we are ascertained if they haven't been indoctrinated, if they're
- 49:08Speaker 29: not radicalized, if they don't require this rehabilitation far before
- 49:15Speaker 29: again we're talking about you know what school they're going
- 49:17Speaker 29: to go to in Victoria or New South Wales. And
- 49:21Speaker 29: to be honest, this process needs to be established moving
- 49:24Speaker 29: forward as a professional process by our.
- 49:26Speaker 4: Government, just very quickly moving to a run. There won't
- 49:30Speaker 4: be boots in the ground, but what can you tell
- 49:32Speaker 4: us about some of the special forces and the work
- 49:36Speaker 4: they might be doing with locals to support them.
- 49:41Speaker 29: Absolutely, Chara, I mean it's incredible to see this strategy
- 49:43Speaker 29: play out. We said before you know, even the US
- 49:45Speaker 29: is strategic move of potentially securing oil and Venezuela before
- 49:49Speaker 29: disrupting the Middle East. This is classic playbook stuff, and
- 49:53Speaker 29: special Operations Forces, all the three letter organizations would have
- 49:56Speaker 29: been on the ground, US, ISRAELI others supporting these strikes,
- 50:01Speaker 29: supporting getting those ready to help with the revolution. As
- 50:04Speaker 29: I said to you beforehand, this is regime change and
- 50:08Speaker 29: it has to come from the revolution of the people,
- 50:11Speaker 29: striking the leadership, striking the new leadership.
- 50:13Speaker 24: But as it comes to.
- 50:14Speaker 29: Place elements on the ground supporting those who will rise up,
- 50:18Speaker 29: form the revolution and secure the position for the new
- 50:22Speaker 29: regime to come in. That is all what's going to
- 50:24Speaker 29: be played out, and it's really impressive to see that occurring.
- 50:27Speaker 29: As a Special Forces officer and plan and myself, I
- 50:30Speaker 29: could just imagine what's going on the ground and really
- 50:33Speaker 29: look forward to seeing how this continues to be honest,
- 50:35Speaker 29: from a strategic perspective, yeah, it's.
- 50:38Speaker 4: Really interesting because while there won't be boots in the ground,
- 50:40Speaker 4: there will be this sort of support. The three letter
- 50:43Speaker 4: agencies I suppose you're saying there, CIA and others tend
- 50:47Speaker 4: to help the locals who hopefully will be able to
- 50:52Speaker 4: take a run into a new era. I mean, that's
- 50:55Speaker 4: the big question. We haven't seen that yet. That's what
- 50:58Speaker 4: everyone's you know, everyone's waiting to see what will happen.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Next, who the leader will be hestin.
- 51:03Speaker 4: It's been so terrific to have you joining me as always,
- 51:06Speaker 4: I really appreciate it.
- 51:07Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 51:09Speaker 4: That's all we have time for tonight. I'll see you
- 51:11Speaker 4: tomorrow at eight. It's another big show, but here it is.
- 51:14Speaker 3: Paul Murray
