- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today I have a question for you.
- 0:32I would like to know, do you really want to feel good and be
- 0:35happy? I mean pause and think about
- 0:38that for a second. Do you really want that?
- 0:40I mean, is that part of what your focus is for yourself every
- 0:44day? Do you consciously think about
- 0:46the fact that you are incorporating things into your
- 0:50life that make you feel good and happy?
- 0:56I think most people don't think about this question, and that's
- 0:59why I'm asking you this. I think we expect it.
- 1:01You know, I believe that most of us listen to this because we
- 1:08want to create something for ourselves inside of ourselves
- 1:11that are driving us in a direction of happiness, at least
- 1:15I know for me that's why I do all the reading listening
- 1:18studying that I do because I'm always looking for more ways
- 1:22that I can incorporate into feeling, you know, better and
- 1:25no. About myself and be able to
- 1:29progress in my life. But when we come right down to
- 1:31it, I mean, I know myself. I never understood what my rules
- 1:37around, feeling good, and being happy were, and I was just
- 1:41living blindly the rules that other people had.
- 1:46I guess passed on. If you will or incorporated into
- 1:50me at a young age of what, feeling good and being happy
- 1:53was, but no one ever sat down and discussed with me.
- 1:56What that was. And when you start to think
- 2:00about, gosh, I'm I'm not happy. You really start to dig into the
- 2:07parts of yourself that you need to in order to figure this out.
- 2:10And that's I think the essence of what I do with my clients all
- 2:13the time is, we're constantly talking about, is this something
- 2:17that you really want is this going to make you feel good?
- 2:19Is this going to make you happy? And ultimately let me be very
- 2:22clear about this. Happy as a choice you can choose
- 2:25to be happy no matter what. Going on, you can choose to be
- 2:28happy and this is not something that I'm making up.
- 2:31This is a theory. You can absolutely read about
- 2:34all over the place. Happiness is a choice.
- 2:37All emotions are a choice and you can choose to be happy no
- 2:41matter what is happening to you. There are people who have gone
- 2:44through atrocities that we will never.
- 2:46Imagine there are people right now going through atrocities
- 2:49that we cannot imagine and they will sit there and tell you how
- 2:53grateful they are. That they have had the science
- 2:56because of what it's given to them.
- 2:58They will tell you, they're still happy inside.
- 3:01They're always going to be a happy person.
- 3:03It's not about what's happening outside of you.
- 3:06It's about what's happening inside of you.
- 3:08Everything is an inside game. You've heard me say that before
- 3:11and I can't stress that enough. This is definitely an inside
- 3:15game so where this becomes so critically important is
- 3:20recognizing that the first step in this is do I really want that
- 3:26and Might say, well, why are you asking that question?
- 3:28That's ridiculous. Of course.
- 3:29I want it. Well, you'd be surprised because
- 3:33part of our identity, as humans is our story and what we tell
- 3:37ourselves. And when we are telling a story
- 3:40about our past or things, terrible, things that have
- 3:43happened to us. They go from just stories to
- 3:46becoming identities, and that's who we are.
- 3:49And when you still have emotional attachment to those,
- 3:54you're starting to create a knot.
- 3:56A strong identity, that's very hard to get rid of, and then it
- 3:59just becomes your story, it because it becomes who you are
- 4:04becomes the identity of everything inside of you.
- 4:07And the story goes from just being a passive story about
- 4:13something that happened to. No, this is my story.
- 4:15This is who I am. Can you see the difference?
- 4:18And when something becomes Who You Are, It defines you and you
- 4:23let it Define you because there are so many aspects of us that
- 4:28we don't have to let Define us, we decide who we are.
- 4:32We decide what what we want to be and how we want to show up in
- 4:35this world. The essence of this conversation
- 4:39is to get you to go back to. Well, wait a minute.
- 4:43Do I really want to feel good and do I really want to be
- 4:46happy? Yes, I do.
- 4:48Okay, then if that's the case, You genuinely mean that then you
- 4:54have to look at what you're telling yourself every day about
- 4:57your identity and your stories so that you stop telling them.
- 5:01So let me give you a great example.
- 5:03So it's not just some, you know, ethereal conversation, we're
- 5:07having here, let's say you work for somebody and you like what
- 5:11you do but you don't like the environment in which you do it
- 5:15because maybe you don't like the people that work there maybe you
- 5:19are asked or Tasked with doing things that you don't like to do
- 5:24as part of it. It's there's just something
- 5:26about the job that you're doing. That doesn't fulfill you
- 5:31irritates you in general though you don't feel good about going
- 5:35to work now if you stop and you pause Can you see that?
- 5:43That moment that you say I don't want to go to work I don't like
- 5:46being there. I don't like being there.
- 5:49Every time you tell yourself that you're disempowering
- 5:51yourself because it's a focus and an intent before you even
- 5:58get there before, you even walk in the door, you're having an
- 6:02issue with going, you're having an issue with being there and
- 6:04ultimately, you know, I could sit here and say to you, we all
- 6:07have choices, you could get a different job.
- 6:09You don't have to go. That is true.
- 6:11You might say, well, I can't it's for this reason, this
- 6:13reason, and this reason, whatever the reasons are okay,
- 6:16great. But ultimately, when you are in
- 6:19that space, when you are in that environment, nobody can crawl
- 6:25into your head and make you feel something that you don't want to
- 6:29feel. So if your day starts off with
- 6:32you, I am going to put myself into a great state.
- 6:37I'm going to stay focused. I'm going to drive my bus.
- 6:40I'm going to have my Optimism drive my bus, I'm going to have
- 6:44my focus drive my bus, and I'm going to get in there.
- 6:47And I'm going to have just a kick-ass day where I control my
- 6:54thoughts all day long and no one else controls them and greatness
- 6:58goodness, happiness. All of that is present and
- 7:01accounted for in driving at the end of the day, everything
- 7:05shifts because you went in there and you didn't allow others to
- 7:09affect you, or as I like Like to say infect you with their
- 7:13poison. And this comes back to that
- 7:18fundamental beginning of the day, when you said I choose
- 7:22happiness, I choose to have a good day.
- 7:25I choose to have this, Be My outcome or this and see it.
- 7:31As if there is nothing that's going to get in your way, no one
- 7:34is going to throw you off because nobody has that power
- 7:38unless you give them that power. So, I want you to this is and
- 7:43this is not something that's a quick thing.
- 7:44Let me tell you. This is work.
- 7:46So as and we will talk about this in multiple ways because
- 7:49this is one of the most difficult things to do.
- 7:52So don't beat yourself up when you fail at it, 20 minutes into
- 7:55it. Because trust me, it's hard, but
- 7:57when you start off the day, the right way, with the practice
- 8:00that says today, I choose happiness, the I promise you,
- 8:04you will feel so much better. So get going work on it and I
- 8:10will see you tomorrow. Bye.
- 8:11Bye.
