- 0:17Speaker 1: It is time to believe your worries outside and laugh
- 0:22Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley along with
- 0:26Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm. Trey, you are on the road today joining
- 0:33Speaker 1: us remotely. Where in the world is Trey Trenholme today?
- 0:38Speaker 2: I am in Las Vegas.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Ooh, Vegas? How is Las Vegas?
- 0:45Speaker 3: It's fine, you know, when you don't drink and you're
- 0:50Speaker 3: not rich. Vegas is very me.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It's just a it's just a bunch of bright lights
- 0:57Speaker 1: in the middle of the desert. Uh huh. Just glad
- 1:02Speaker 1: to have running water in a bed, right, Yeah, that's
- 1:07Speaker 1: Vegas has been getting hammered lately, and I'm saying that
- 1:10Speaker 1: is someone that just went through a little bit of
- 1:13Speaker 1: a Category five hurricane over the weekend. I saw a
- 1:18Speaker 1: story recently that tourism is basically in the toilet in
- 1:24Speaker 1: Las Vegas. And it's not just because the economy is
- 1:27Speaker 1: in question in general, but Vegas is kind of in
- 1:30Speaker 1: question and in turmoil because I think the tourists have
- 1:34Speaker 1: finally caught on that they're basically getting ram rotted when
- 1:40Speaker 1: it comes to what things cost, or more specifically, what
- 1:45Speaker 1: they're being charged for things versus what they actually cost,
- 1:51Speaker 1: and it's not brand new, Like everyone knows that if
- 1:54Speaker 1: you go to a pool in Las Vegas, you were
- 1:57Speaker 1: going to be charged out the ass for a cores
- 2:00Speaker 1: or a vodka soda, whatever it is you're buying. I
- 2:03Speaker 1: think I saw a thing, a basket of chicken tenders
- 2:09Speaker 1: was like forty nine dollars, and this is These are
- 2:14Speaker 1: astonishing numbers. But again this I don't think this is
- 2:17Speaker 1: brand new. But because of it, tourists are finally clapping
- 2:21Speaker 1: back and they're not going. They're not showing up to
- 2:23Speaker 1: Vegas like they used to, and when they when when
- 2:26Speaker 1: they do show up, they're apparently not tipping like they
- 2:28Speaker 1: used to because they're fed up with being price gouged.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I mean, it's.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Like I got up this morning and there's a Starbucks
- 2:38Speaker 3: staying at the Aria, and there's a Starbucks here.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Well, my.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Iced cinnamon dulce latte that I normally get, that's normally
- 2:51Speaker 3: I think six seventy five at any other Starbucks is
- 2:55Speaker 3: eleven seventy five here, And yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 1: You know why, it's probably because they think you're a
- 3:02Speaker 1: showgirl without order and they think you can afford it
- 3:05Speaker 1: with all the tips you made last night, not some
- 3:10Speaker 1: blue collar man.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Again, I've never claimed to be a manly man.
- 3:15Speaker 2: When it comes to my.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Coffee drinks, I at least say, hey, I don't get
- 3:18Speaker 3: the whip cream.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Also that's your line. Yeah, unless unless that whipped cream
- 3:24Speaker 1: is coming on Ali Larder herself with the coffee drink.
- 3:28Speaker 1: You're a you're a no whip bro yep.
- 3:34Speaker 3: But yeah, no, everything, Yeah, everything is ridiculously expensive. They've
- 3:42Speaker 3: got a food court here that's somewhat reasonable for for Vegas.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Uh you know, A slice of pizza at one place
- 3:53Speaker 3: was ten bucks and it's a big slice.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I could uh.
- 4:00Speaker 3: You know, I wasn't mad about that. I guess it's
- 4:04Speaker 3: kind of within reason. But now everything here is just ridiculous,
- 4:11Speaker 3: So it doesn't it doesn't shock me that tourism is
- 4:15Speaker 3: down and.
- 4:17Speaker 2: You can kind of tell. Although yo, it's during the week.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I've never really this will be my first time I
- 4:23Speaker 3: think ever really spending any time.
- 4:25Speaker 2: In Vegas on a weekday. I've always been you know,
- 4:28Speaker 2: Friday through Sunday.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's how most people are. I found
- 4:32Speaker 1: one of the stories that I did see the once
- 4:36Speaker 1: generous tipping culture of Las Vegas is experiencing a downturn
- 4:40Speaker 1: as visitors push back against soaring prices and declining service
- 4:44Speaker 1: quality across the Strip. According to The New York Post,
- 4:47Speaker 1: servers report that tips have plummeted by as much as
- 4:49Speaker 1: fifty percent compared to previous years. This drop has created
- 4:54Speaker 1: a financial strain for thousands of hospitality workers who depend
- 4:57Speaker 1: on gratuities for their livelihood. One cocktail waitress revealed in
- 5:01Speaker 1: a Reddit forum the subreddit is Vegas Locals that her
- 5:06Speaker 1: average tip per drink has crashed from eighty cents to
- 5:10Speaker 1: just ten cents, while others lament working triple what we
- 5:14Speaker 1: used to do and making a quarter of what we did.
- 5:17Speaker 1: The crisis coincides with an eleven point three percent drop
- 5:20Speaker 1: an overall visitation to Sin City in June compared to
- 5:23Speaker 1: the same month last year. That's according to the Las
- 5:25Speaker 1: Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. International travel to Vegas has
- 5:32Speaker 1: similarly declined by approximately ten percent year over year. Show
- 5:37Speaker 1: it's getting ugly in Vegas.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Well, and I think there's something else going on, which
- 5:44Speaker 3: is I think there is a.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Tipping fatigue because.
- 5:51Speaker 3: And I say this as someone who worked in the
- 5:52Speaker 3: service industry for a very long time. But the fact
- 5:56Speaker 3: that you get asked to tip everywhere is I think
- 6:01Speaker 3: wearing people out, and it's screwing the people that really
- 6:04Speaker 3: do survive on tips. I mean, you're getting asked to
- 6:08Speaker 3: tip people, and most people don't realize it, but a
- 6:10Speaker 3: lot of you know, whether you go to Starbucks or whatever,
- 6:16Speaker 3: they're making a good hourly wage, whereas most like servers
- 6:20Speaker 3: and bartenders are making you know, two thirteen an hour.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Right So, and especially in a place like Vegas that
- 6:28Speaker 1: is so tourism heavy. So I've always loved the way
- 6:32Speaker 1: my wife put it as far as whether or not
- 6:34Speaker 1: you should tip somebody in the service industry, it's basically,
- 6:38Speaker 1: if they touched your food, you should probably tip them.
- 6:40Speaker 1: It's like, Okay, I can wrap my brain around that.
- 6:42Speaker 1: That's good in the broader tourism industry. Though in a
- 6:47Speaker 1: place like Vegas it gets real, you know, heavy, because
- 6:53Speaker 1: you got you've got door people, you've got bell hops
- 6:57Speaker 1: doing luggage, You've like you said, trade, there's so many
- 7:01Speaker 1: people everywhere you turn in Vegas that live on tips.
- 7:07Speaker 1: So it's kind of hard to know, Like, well, who
- 7:09Speaker 1: do you say no to.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Hookers?
- 7:19Speaker 1: Well, I wouldn't expect to be on their favorites list
- 7:24Speaker 1: if you ever decide to go back to that particular ranch.
- 7:34Speaker 5: You're in the Treehouse online a treehouse on air dot com.
- 7:42Speaker 6: Let's get Daniel Cook from Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration
- 7:45Speaker 6: into the Treehouse eight three three Cook DFW is the
- 7:48Speaker 6: phone number for your free roof and property inspection the
- 7:51Speaker 6: website cookdfw dot com. It's been a very busy summer
- 7:56Speaker 6: for people. Kids are now starting to get back to school.
- 8:00Speaker 6: Parents are trying to get back into a new routine
- 8:03Speaker 6: with the kids going back to school. That actually makes
- 8:06Speaker 6: now a great time to get that roof inspection.
- 8:08Speaker 7: Doesn't it?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Absolutely?
- 8:10Speaker 8: Dan, We see this every single year.
- 8:11Speaker 4: You know.
- 8:11Speaker 8: We come out of our heavy storm season, which is
- 8:14Speaker 8: in the spring, you know, and which usually people you
- 8:16Speaker 8: know associate lasting up until June. Then we get to
- 8:20Speaker 8: summertime and it's kids are out of school, vacations are
- 8:23Speaker 8: going on, relatives and in laws are coming in town.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I got all these other things I'm gonna do, and
- 8:28Speaker 2: then all you know, you forget that crap.
- 8:31Speaker 8: I had a big storm at my house this year,
- 8:33Speaker 8: and I never had anybody come out and look at it.
- 8:35Speaker 8: But I don't have any leaks, so maybe I got lucky.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Well, then you get.
- 8:39Speaker 8: Through fall, we start having a little bit of cooler weather,
- 8:41Speaker 8: we start getting back in the rainy season, and guess what, poof, you.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Got a leak coming into your roof.
- 8:46Speaker 8: So this is why it's very critical. It's the perfect
- 8:49Speaker 8: time of the year. Have us come out. We can
- 8:51Speaker 8: check what we haven't looked at yet. Because all those
- 8:53Speaker 8: storms that came through in March, April, May, and then
- 8:56Speaker 8: we had some ones.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Late as June. At the end of June, this.
- 8:59Speaker 8: Is a perfect time for us to check out and
- 9:01Speaker 8: see how much damage your house actually sustained. Do you
- 9:03Speaker 8: need to worry about it? Is your house okay for
- 9:06Speaker 8: another you know year, until the next springtime. You know,
- 9:10Speaker 8: those are things that you don't want to be surprised about.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Have us come out. It's a perfect time. It's a
- 9:14Speaker 2: free inspection.
- 9:15Speaker 8: We come out, walk around, take pictures, show you if
- 9:18Speaker 8: you have any concerns.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and now really is a perfect time to do that.
- 9:21Speaker 1: As the kids go back to school. It's not quite
- 9:23Speaker 1: time for the holidays yet and that's going to be
- 9:26Speaker 1: extremely busy and stressful. So take care of your house
- 9:30Speaker 1: now during this window while it's open, so called Daniel
- 9:33Speaker 1: Today eight three three Cook DFW eight three three Cook DFW.

- 10:25Speaker 1: green egg courtesy of Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration. This
- 10:30Speaker 1: is the tree House Show. I'm Daniel Malling along with
- 10:32Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm Raj Sharma popping in the tree House now
- 10:35Speaker 1: as well. Raj, you're a somewhat of a Vegas expert.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You spend a lot of time in Reno as well.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Who are the people that you don't tip.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Who you do not tip meth heads, okay, but everybody else,
- 10:53Speaker 4: I mean, there's really not a door guy anymore. That's
- 10:58Speaker 4: kind of like a few valet you'll have a door guy,
- 11:01Speaker 4: but if you don't like, you don't have to really
- 11:03Speaker 4: worry about that.
- 11:04Speaker 1: But I'm really angry when it comes to having to
- 11:06Speaker 1: pay for valet at every damn hotel now. And I
- 11:09Speaker 1: don't mean in Vegas. I just mean everywhere, because I'll
- 11:11Speaker 1: still admit this, I've never I've still never been to
- 11:13Speaker 1: Las Vegas. But I can't stand now how every hotel
- 11:17Speaker 1: on the planet now basically says, Okay, the room is
- 11:20Speaker 1: X amount of dollars. Oh, and you have to pay
- 11:22Speaker 1: the park too, whether it's self park or valet, so
- 11:24Speaker 1: good luck with that. It's like what the hell man?
- 11:26Speaker 4: And sometimes the self park is more expensive than the valet.
- 11:31Speaker 1: And sometimes they don't even give you the option. They
- 11:33Speaker 1: just say, if you want to park with the hotel,
- 11:35Speaker 1: it's valet. There are no other options, or you can
- 11:37Speaker 1: take your you can take your chances with the meth
- 11:39Speaker 1: heads across the street.
- 11:43Speaker 4: You'll always take the guy that I mean, if you
- 11:45Speaker 4: have a lot of luggage and there's somebody that brings
- 11:48Speaker 4: your bags, you tip them. If there is a door guy,
- 11:51Speaker 4: like in India, like there's door guys, so you tip them.
- 11:54Speaker 4: But in Valet you tip. But outside of that, I
- 11:57Speaker 4: think that's where and wait, staff, I think that's where
- 12:00Speaker 4: it would end.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Yeah, well, Vegas isn't sharp. Decline Trey has witnessing it
- 12:06Speaker 1: for us as our Vegas correspondent this week inside the Treehouse.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys saw this news last month,
- 12:15Speaker 1: but I'm going to share it with you now just
- 12:17Speaker 1: in case you didn't catch it. Scientists are on high
- 12:20Speaker 1: alert as an unidentified object has been detected speeding towards Earth.
- 12:26Speaker 1: The nature of this object remains a mystery, but there's
- 12:29Speaker 1: one expert who is suggesting, yeah, it could be extraterrestrial,
- 12:37Speaker 1: Avi Lobe. It is the professor from Harvard A. VI Lobe.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Professor Lobe has been outspoken about the potential existence of
- 12:48Speaker 1: spaceships in the cosmos and now speculates that this object
- 12:51Speaker 1: could be a mothership.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Now.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Despite skepticism from other scientists who argue that the object
- 12:57Speaker 1: is probably just a comet, Professor Lobe cautions that its
- 13:01Speaker 1: appearance might indicate technological design.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Well, there's one big problem with his theory, and that is,
- 13:12Speaker 3: if it is an extraterrestrial mothership, why is it technically
- 13:19Speaker 3: doing a flyby of Mars? Because its path is it's
- 13:23Speaker 3: close to Mars and it's going to go behind the Sun,
- 13:26Speaker 3: so it's not really supposed to get Now, if it
- 13:29Speaker 3: all of a sudden, you know, makes a left turn
- 13:30Speaker 3: and it comes towards Earth, then yeah, there's a problem.
- 13:32Speaker 1: But otherwise, yeah, if it's hanging a Louis in the
- 13:35Speaker 1: middle of the Solar System, then yeah, I think that's
- 13:37Speaker 1: gonna be a bit of a red flag.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Yeah, if it flips a bit, we got a problem.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Now, that's an interesting point that you brought up to
- 13:45Speaker 1: the path that it's on, where at one point it
- 13:47Speaker 1: will go behind the Sun, and that's where the mystery
- 13:51Speaker 1: gets well even more mysterious because it was first spotted
- 13:55Speaker 1: on July first. Now, if the object turns out to
- 13:57Speaker 1: be an alien vessel, Professor Lobe estimates that's craft would
- 14:00Speaker 1: arrive on Earth between November twenty first and December fifth
- 14:05Speaker 1: of this year. Okay, so when that Thanksgiving time? And
- 14:11Speaker 1: then what's interesting still about this, Like you mentioned Trey
- 14:14Speaker 1: it's expected that this object will vanish behind the sun
- 14:18Speaker 1: in September and then won't reappear in telescope view until
- 14:22Speaker 1: November or December. I don't know about you, but if
- 14:26Speaker 1: I'm Hollywood, that's how I write this because people are like,
- 14:29Speaker 1: ladie dah, there's an object. But then when it rears
- 14:32Speaker 1: its head, when it comes back around the sun, you're like, oh,
- 14:37Speaker 1: damn aliens.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Oh, I mean, if you're gonna if you're gonna go,
- 14:42Speaker 4: why go behind the sun, unless like that's a vacation
- 14:45Speaker 4: spot for them.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I have element of surprise. Maybe they recharge. Maybe there's
- 14:50Speaker 1: a fueling station back there. We don't know about it.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Maybe there's behind the sun.
- 14:54Speaker 3: But there are things on the other side.
- 14:57Speaker 1: It's true.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Yeah, were just saying, maybe they stop off, get a
- 15:00Speaker 4: little tan m.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Maybe maybe it's it's the enterprise and they're having to
- 15:05Speaker 3: sling shouting around the sun to get back to whatever
- 15:09Speaker 3: time they need to.
- 15:10Speaker 1: I don't know, but according to Professor Lowe, they're coming
- 15:16Speaker 1: and they'll be here sometime between November twenty one and
- 15:20Speaker 1: December fifth, So get your affairs in order.
- 15:24Speaker 4: Huh. Maybe they're on the Epstein list. They're just trying
- 15:30Speaker 4: to get.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Here before those get released. They have plenty of time,
- 15:36Speaker 1: it seems, I.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Mean, maybe maybe maybe it's a it's the new Thanksgiving
- 15:43Speaker 3: and this time we're the Indians.
- 15:44Speaker 4: And oh no, I'm the Indian tray.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Yeah, they just got awkward.

- 17:00Speaker 1: year's Super Bowl halftime show Kendrick Lamar. Now, in the
- 17:07Speaker 1: recent history of Super Bowl halftime performances, when there's an
- 17:12Speaker 1: extreme one way, the pendulum has a tendency to swing
- 17:16Speaker 1: back the other. So in Kendrick Lamar last year, we
- 17:20Speaker 1: had one of the all time great modern rappers. So
- 17:24Speaker 1: would it surprise you at the possibility of a Super
- 17:30Speaker 1: Bowl halftime show this year being led by Taylor Swift?
- 17:36Speaker 4: No, no, not at all. I mean that's huge ratings.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to book
- 17:42Speaker 3: her five years in a row.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Honestly, it would surprise me if she did it, because
- 17:48Speaker 1: it's not like she needs to now. Granted, most of
- 17:51Speaker 1: the artists that get asked and do play the super
- 17:54Speaker 1: Bowl don't necessarily need it.
- 17:57Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, they don't get it.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Yeah, they actually they technically lose money on doing the
- 18:02Speaker 3: super Bowl.
- 18:03Speaker 2: It's it's the now.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Again, she doesn't need that either, But and I would
- 18:07Speaker 3: imagine the NFL cough up some money. I mean, did
- 18:09Speaker 3: you see the numbers that New Heights, you know, the
- 18:11Speaker 3: Kelsey Brothers podcast did when she came on there.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Give me, give me the latest numbers you've heard.
- 18:18Speaker 3: I want to say, the last time I heard they
- 18:20Speaker 3: were something like ninety six million views.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Wow.
- 18:26Speaker 1: The last one I saw was like, and this was
- 18:29Speaker 1: a few days ago, it was sixteen million. I had
- 18:32Speaker 1: may had the most. I think they had the most
- 18:34Speaker 1: live audience in YouTube history at one point, with one
- 18:37Speaker 1: point three million people watching it last Wednesday when it
- 18:41Speaker 1: came out.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Oh, that's when she dropped the new album.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Now, well, yeah, because it was on the show. But yeah, yeah,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I mean it was one point three million people watching
- 18:50Speaker 1: that as it was being released on YouTube.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:54Speaker 1: So the reason why the super Bowl speculation has popped
- 18:57Speaker 1: up is because, well it's Taylor Swift and her fans
- 19:02Speaker 1: are rabbid and some of the things she discussed on
- 19:06Speaker 1: the New Heights podcast with her boyfriend Travis Kelcey and
- 19:09Speaker 1: his brother Jason was her belief in numerology. Jason also
- 19:16Speaker 1: asked her about Easter eggs.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Go ahead, Trey, I said, across all platforms, it's generated
- 19:25Speaker 3: half a billion views.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Wow, I'm curious to see if I'm curious to see
- 19:37Speaker 1: how high the numbers specifically go on YouTube, because i
- 19:39Speaker 1: think the most watched podcast was Elon Musk's interview on
- 19:44Speaker 1: Rogan's Show on YouTube in I think like twenty eighteen,
- 19:48Speaker 1: and that has somewhere in the neighborhood of sixty five
- 19:50Speaker 1: million views. So I'm curious.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I thought Trump's Trump's Rogan interviewed.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I think I think all time the Musk when was
- 19:59Speaker 1: a little bit higher, but so Trump one was a
- 20:03Speaker 1: close second.
- 20:04Speaker 4: If you watched that, so was Elon because he was
- 20:07Speaker 4: a smoking weed with Joe Rogan, so he was higher
- 20:11Speaker 4: for sure.
- 20:13Speaker 1: So anyway, all the speculation about Taylor Swift and the
- 20:17Speaker 1: Super Bowl is because of what was discussed on the
- 20:20Speaker 1: show with the Kelsey Brothers, numerology and her Easter eggs,
- 20:26Speaker 1: so much so that during the appearance on the show,
- 20:30Speaker 1: she shared that sour dough has taken over her life
- 20:33Speaker 1: and that's what she talks about sixty percent of the time.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Considering she loves baking, the most casual fan probably wouldn't
- 20:40Speaker 1: think much of her saying that, but not the Swifties.
- 20:44Speaker 1: They know Taylor's affinity for inserting Easter eggs into almost
- 20:47Speaker 1: everything and this is no exception. They suspect she might
- 20:51Speaker 1: be the Super Bowl halftime show headliner because number one
- 20:55Speaker 1: super Bowl sixty will go down at Levi's Stadium, home
- 20:59Speaker 1: of the Sarancisco forty nine ers. Their mascot is Sourdough
- 21:03Speaker 1: Sam and her saying that she thinks about sourdough sixty
- 21:07Speaker 1: percent of the time super Bowl sixty.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Okay.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Also, at the beginning of the episode, Taylor thinks Taylor
- 21:16Speaker 1: thanks Jason Kelcey for screaming like forty seven seconds. Taylor's
- 21:21Speaker 1: forty seventh stop on her Era's tour was none other
- 21:25Speaker 1: than Levi's Stadium. So those put together the Swifties think, ooh,
- 21:30Speaker 1: she's dropping hints.
- 21:33Speaker 3: And just you know, San Francisco was just known as
- 21:36Speaker 3: the home of sourdough bread just not just so much
- 21:39Speaker 3: the mascot, but still, how depressing is it to be
- 21:45Speaker 3: sourdo Sam?
- 21:49Speaker 1: I mean, you could be, like of all the mascots
- 21:51Speaker 1: in the league, you could be it could be rowdy.
- 21:56Speaker 3: At least they soward or Sam has a chance for
- 22:00Speaker 3: he's gonna see a Super Bowl long before rowdyever will.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Sad thing is we're probably on like our ninth or
- 22:06Speaker 1: tenth rowdy between super Bowls. I think we've had. I
- 22:12Speaker 1: think we've had fewer rowdies than we have had starting
- 22:15Speaker 1: quarterbacks with the Cowboys.
- 22:17Speaker 4: Rowdy's gonna die, That's what's gonna happen.
- 22:21Speaker 1: In the costume on his way to a kid birthday party.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Crazy Ray looking down going.
- 22:28Speaker 3: I told you you're.

- 23:13Speaker 1: Speaking of today, today is Tuesday inside the Treehouse, which
- 23:17Speaker 1: means it's time for tree House talk Back Today. We
- 23:20Speaker 1: have just one, but it's a big one and it's
- 23:22Speaker 1: from Joel.
- 23:27Speaker 10: Joel here, just wondering. As a kid, I remember nineteen years.
- 23:37Speaker 11: Old playing football and a cow pasture, and I'm wondering,
- 23:44Speaker 11: have any of y'all Texans done?
- 23:48Speaker 1: Then?
- 23:49Speaker 10: I grew up in Virginia, Southern Virginia, so just wondering,
- 23:55Speaker 10: is that a just a Virginian thing? I'm glad moved.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you, Joel, Thank you for ending it in
- 24:09Speaker 1: the classic Treehouse talkback fashion with the.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Oh, Joel sounded like he needs to be the cook
- 24:17Speaker 3: in a like a city on the City Slickers, you know,
- 24:21Speaker 3: the little camping deal. And you know he's on the
- 24:23Speaker 3: back of the stage coach. You know, nickname Wheezy.
- 24:27Speaker 1: No no, no, no, it's Cookie. It's Cookie. The cook
- 24:32Speaker 1: is nicknamed Cookie. Joel is our Cookie.
- 24:38Speaker 4: He sounds like he was reciting a letter from the
- 24:40Speaker 4: eighteen hundreds.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I'll do declare, it's almost like you could hear the
- 24:46Speaker 1: rocking chair on the front porch of his plantation. How yes, uh,
- 24:53Speaker 1: all right? He asked, have any of us played football
- 24:58Speaker 1: in a cal pasture as to he did it in
- 25:01Speaker 1: Virginia as a nineteen year old? Did any of us
- 25:03Speaker 1: ever play football in a cow pasture growing up in Texas?
- 25:07Speaker 2: Tray? Yes?
- 25:09Speaker 1: Really?
- 25:11Speaker 3: Hell back in the day playing at Leonard, we visited
- 25:16Speaker 3: some schools that it literally was a cowpastor that they
- 25:20Speaker 3: just fenced.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Off with barbed wire or do they do something a
- 25:24Speaker 1: little more player friendly?
- 25:26Speaker 3: No barboire, just to keep the cattle from coming in
- 25:28Speaker 3: there during the game.
- 25:31Speaker 1: That's why I asked, because as someone that grew up
- 25:34Speaker 1: up until the age of nine next to my grandfather's
- 25:37Speaker 1: cattle ranch, very familiar with calpastures, very familiar with barb wire. However,
- 25:43Speaker 1: never played football there and that was technically Oklahoma. So
- 25:46Speaker 1: as a Texan though, when I started playing football, no,
- 25:50Speaker 1: we played in stadiums Trey. I think I was curious
- 25:54Speaker 1: because I thought you'd be the X factor here, And
- 25:56Speaker 1: it turns out I was right. You actually did play
- 25:58Speaker 1: some football on a cowpatty, But for most of us
- 26:01Speaker 1: that grew up in the cities, for the most part,
- 26:04Speaker 1: our football was played on an actual football field, Rajen,
- 26:08Speaker 1: assuming that was the case for you in Mesquite, Yes,
- 26:12Speaker 1: no cow pastors.
- 26:14Speaker 4: We actually had facilities, We actually had places where you practiced.
- 26:20Speaker 4: I know Leonard might have been different, but no.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Leonard wasn't different. But you know, when you play places
- 26:26Speaker 3: like Ladonia.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Yeah, Leonard. Leonard was sort of the buffer zone between
- 26:33Speaker 1: the big city and Ladonia.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 1: The I think the worst I had was there was
- 26:43Speaker 1: a baseball field. I think this was in Louisville. I
- 26:46Speaker 1: played on a baseball field in Louisville. I might have
- 26:48Speaker 1: been Lewisville High School. They had and I still to
- 26:52Speaker 1: this day don't know why. It's the only baseball field
- 26:54Speaker 1: I ever saw that had this. They had pecan shells
- 26:57Speaker 1: on the infield dirt, which was awful. If you've ever
- 27:01Speaker 1: played with or been around broken pecan shells, they're they're
- 27:06Speaker 1: almost like glass. They are sharp. And I still, like
- 27:12Speaker 1: I said, to this day, I don't know why they
- 27:13Speaker 1: had pecan shells on that field. It was awful and
- 27:15Speaker 1: I still might have a few chunks stuck in my
- 27:17Speaker 1: right knee. But football wise, the worst I had was
- 27:21Speaker 1: playing in De Soto when they hadn't replaced their turf
- 27:26Speaker 1: and god knows how many years so their astro turf
- 27:30Speaker 1: field when we played there wasn't really astro turf. It
- 27:34Speaker 1: was basically just a painted green parking lot with lights
- 27:37Speaker 1: around it. I mean, there was no cushion, there was
- 27:40Speaker 1: no give. Playing for Arlington lamar we had our road
- 27:44Speaker 1: white jerseys on and they were covered in green because
- 27:48Speaker 1: I guess they had freshly painted the field. That was
- 27:52Speaker 1: the worst I had. So I know, no no cow
- 27:54Speaker 1: pastures for football for me.
- 27:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think. I don't think anybody we played
- 28:04Speaker 4: had something like that. But what the one that the
- 28:06Speaker 4: only thing that scared me was is when we played
- 28:10Speaker 4: and Trey will know this, when we played Highland Park,
- 28:13Speaker 4: uh and these guys came out on the field and
- 28:15Speaker 4: I was like, these are men, these are grown ups.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Well they're also they're also rolling up to the game
- 28:22Speaker 1: of their Mercedes buses.
- 28:25Speaker 4: We're going to lose. He has a he has a beard.
- 28:32Speaker 1: That's how I felt when we did the Kickoff Classic
- 28:35Speaker 1: at Texas Stadium, and it was my school, Lamar High
- 28:39Speaker 1: School playing Kimball Dallas Kimball, Okay and so. And in
- 28:44Speaker 1: the movie Friday Night Lights, when those when those kids
- 28:48Speaker 1: from Permian looked across the field when Dallas Carter came
- 28:51Speaker 1: out and like you said, I mean, they're full on
- 28:53Speaker 1: beards and things. You're like, yeah, this, this isn't normal here.
- 28:59Speaker 1: I think I think that offensive Lineman's children are in
- 29:03Speaker 1: the state along with the wide receivers parole officer.
- 29:10Speaker 4: I think the offensive lineman's children are also playing in
- 29:13Speaker 4: the game.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a family affair.
- 29:17Speaker 4: I mean, we need to check some my d's.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I will say this though, playing because we did that
- 29:22Speaker 1: two years in a row. Is my sophomore and I
- 29:24Speaker 1: think it was sophomore. In junior year, we played Kimball
- 29:28Speaker 1: High School at the Kickoff Classic at Texas Stadium, first
- 29:31Speaker 1: game of the year, and it was so much fun
- 29:34Speaker 1: to watch the Kimball band at the field. Yeah, and
- 29:39Speaker 1: that's when all of us as the team would look
- 29:41Speaker 1: back at our band and go, why can't you guys
- 29:43Speaker 1: do any of that we had.
- 29:46Speaker 4: We played Wilmore Hutchins once and their cheerleaders were amazing
- 29:49Speaker 4: and I was like, yeah, you guys. I looked at
- 29:51Speaker 4: our cheerleaders. I'm like, we don't have spirit. Yes they do.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Y'all need to step up your game.
- 30:02Speaker 4: I think they're dancing to Llo cool j Like.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I do miss those days, but thankfully I never had
- 30:10Speaker 1: to never had to juke around any any cowflop in
- 30:14Speaker 1: my playing days. A couple of muddy ant hills is
- 30:17Speaker 1: about it.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Yeah, your big helmet would have protected you regardless.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Came in real handy at that playoff game against O
- 30:30Speaker 1: d Wyatt.

- 31:20Speaker 1: you know can know that you listen and laugh to
- 31:24Speaker 1: the tree House Show. And speaking of today, today is Tuesday,
- 31:29Speaker 1: August nineteenth, twenty twenty five. Let's celebrate today with some birthdays.
- 31:35Speaker 1: I say celebrate, but we're starting off with a sad one.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Matthew Perry would have been fifty six today, but he
- 31:44Speaker 1: left this world in a ketamine fueled not bathtub hot
- 31:50Speaker 1: tub back in twenty twenty three. Legendarily known as Chandler
- 31:54Speaker 1: on Friends, Matthew Perry would have been fifty six today.
- 31:57Speaker 1: And for those that have not seen it, his movie
- 32:01Speaker 1: Fools Rush In with Samahayak. He was one of the
- 32:05Speaker 1: first Friends cast members to really really try to use
- 32:11Speaker 1: the show to jump off into films, and it didn't
- 32:15Speaker 1: really go well for most of them, at least not
- 32:18Speaker 1: for a while. But Fools Rush In, starring Matthew Perry,
- 32:25Speaker 1: Samahayak holds up whenever I am really really hot and
- 32:31Speaker 1: I'm working one of my wife's weddings outside and it's hot,
- 32:35Speaker 1: I still think of the line that he says in
- 32:37Speaker 1: that film, the white people are melting. I mean, you
- 32:48Speaker 1: talk about a line to stick with somebody, and it
- 32:50Speaker 1: really did. That movie really, really really is funny, and
- 32:55Speaker 1: if you haven't seen it, I recommend it. Trey, have
- 32:57Speaker 1: you seen it?
- 32:58Speaker 3: I have seen it. Yeah, it is a good movie.
- 33:00Speaker 3: But you know that was also you talk about the crossover.
- 33:03Speaker 3: That was at a time when there was a distinct difference.
- 33:06Speaker 3: I mean there were if you were a movie star,
- 33:09Speaker 3: there were actors that would give you the advice don't
- 33:12Speaker 3: ever do television.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah sure.
- 33:16Speaker 3: So you know, it was kind of a different thing
- 33:17Speaker 3: where you know, now I think it's all kind of
- 33:19Speaker 3: jumbled together.
- 33:20Speaker 1: It is, but it isn't at least maybe depends on
- 33:23Speaker 1: the individual because I don't know. If you guys watch
- 33:26Speaker 1: Welcome to Wrection, it's you know, the documentary following the Wrecksham,
- 33:32Speaker 1: you know soccer team that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny
- 33:34Speaker 1: purchased a handful of years ago and they've now had
- 33:36Speaker 1: amazing success. But on that show, which by the way,
- 33:42Speaker 1: even if you don't like soccer, it's it's a phenomenal
- 33:44Speaker 1: show to watch, Yeah, Welcome Torection, And in it, Rob
- 33:48Speaker 1: mclelhenny will say many many times that he's TV money
- 33:54Speaker 1: and Ryan's movie money, and that's it's like he's like,
- 33:57Speaker 1: and Rob mcelelhenny was like, look, I wanted to do
- 33:59Speaker 1: this thing, but I knew in order to do this thing,
- 34:01Speaker 1: I can't afford it. I only have TV money. So
- 34:04Speaker 1: I called Ryan, who has movie money and other business money,
- 34:08Speaker 1: and then we can make it happen. So it is
- 34:10Speaker 1: still a difference.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Now Ryan doesn't just have movie money. He's got Marvel money.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Yeah, now he's got Marvel money money. But even before that,
- 34:20Speaker 1: I mean, he did the thing that is the ideal thing,
- 34:22Speaker 1: if you can do it. The blueprint is if you can,
- 34:26Speaker 1: you know, have some level of success in whatever your
- 34:29Speaker 1: day job is, take some of that money and then
- 34:31Speaker 1: try to put it into other things so then you're
- 34:33Speaker 1: not reliant on the one thing. He did that. He
- 34:36Speaker 1: did that with mint Mobile, he did that with Aviation Jin,
- 34:40Speaker 1: He's done it with I think a couple of other things.
- 34:41Speaker 1: He's even you know, he and McIlhenny are getting involved
- 34:44Speaker 1: in F one. But having one thing funded these other
- 34:49Speaker 1: things and then those other things also do really well.
- 34:52Speaker 1: And now you've got yourself, you know, a billion dollar
- 34:55Speaker 1: plus empire.
- 34:57Speaker 3: But I think Deadpool gave him the funds to uh diversify.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Uh huh, I think it was. I think it was
- 35:06Speaker 1: the dead the first Deadpool check is uh probably what
- 35:09Speaker 1: allowed him to go. You know what F one does?
- 35:11Speaker 1: Sound like fun?
- 35:12Speaker 4: Yeah, what's in your portfolio? Deadpool?
- 35:20Speaker 1: And to be honest with you, that's one of the
- 35:21Speaker 1: reasons why I bought Disney stock many years ago was
- 35:25Speaker 1: because of the Marvel movies and and you know, it's
- 35:27Speaker 1: it's been solid. I mean it's no Netflix, it's no Nvidia,
- 35:30Speaker 1: but it's there, it's doing its thing. I also bought
- 35:35Speaker 1: Netflix that same day, so I'm not doing too chabby
- 35:38Speaker 1: as far as retirement goes. I just didn't have Deadpool
- 35:42Speaker 1: money to buy all the Netflix stock I could. But
- 35:45Speaker 1: you know what was what what did Ryan, our financial guy,
- 35:48Speaker 1: would he tell me something like a four hundred percent something?
- 35:53Speaker 1: I don't know whatever it was. It basically we bought
- 35:58Speaker 1: Netflix at like ninety thing.
- 36:01Speaker 4: Okay, and it's up four now. Wow, now you can
- 36:05Speaker 4: you can literally Netflix and chill.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Yeah. The downside is is I don't get a break
- 36:11Speaker 1: on my subscription fee. Like if if everyone else's fees
- 36:14Speaker 1: go up, so to my But at least at least
- 36:17Speaker 1: it stings a little bit less.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Other birthdays today, so rip to Chandler. Matthew Perry. Today
- 36:26Speaker 1: would have been his fifty sixth birthday. Some other birthdays today.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Jonathan Fraakes gotta be one of Trey's favorites. Who is
- 36:34Speaker 1: Commander Riker on Star Trek the Next Generation. He is
- 36:37Speaker 1: seventy three today.
- 36:38Speaker 4: Wow, you're you're a Star Trek the Next Generation fan?
- 36:46Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh? Why?
- 36:49Speaker 2: Oh? I got I love that show. God, I've seen
- 36:51Speaker 2: every episode twice.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Okay, well it's good. It's like Dan with bad movies,
- 36:58Speaker 4: bad TV shows.
- 36:59Speaker 3: That was a great TV show that was At the
- 37:03Speaker 3: time it went off the air, it was the most
- 37:05Speaker 3: syndicated show in history.
- 37:08Speaker 4: That breaks my heart. And most people don't realize the
- 37:11Speaker 4: original Star Trek was only two seasons.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Two seasons.
- 37:15Speaker 4: Yeah that yeah, I mean it's still on the air,
- 37:20Speaker 4: like you can still watch it.
- 37:23Speaker 1: And speaking of Star Trek, the creator of Star Trek,
- 37:27Speaker 1: Geene Roddenberry. Today is his birthday, but he passed away
- 37:30Speaker 1: all the way back in nineteen ninety one, so he
- 37:32Speaker 1: was only too he was only able to witness some
- 37:35Speaker 1: level of the success that Star Trek the Next Generation
- 37:37Speaker 1: carried into the nineties.
- 37:38Speaker 4: And isn't William Shatner like ninety three now or something
- 37:41Speaker 4: weird like that?
- 37:43Speaker 3: I thinking maybe older than that, But yeah, he's he's
- 37:48Speaker 3: very old and still still going.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I see him almost every day on Instagram because
- 37:53Speaker 1: of some underwear ad that someone made him do.
- 37:56Speaker 5: And then.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Most people don't realize that it was Gene Roddenberry's wife.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Nigel Barrett was the voice of the computer on All
- 38:04Speaker 3: the Star Treks.
- 38:05Speaker 4: Oh okay, but have you seen the William Shatner Rocket Man?
- 38:13Speaker 4: When you have to watch it if you get a chance.
- 38:17Speaker 4: He does his own version because he had an album
- 38:19Speaker 4: that came out. I don't know if you guys know, Oh,
- 38:22Speaker 4: I don't know how an album came out come out,
- 38:24Speaker 4: and he did rocket Man and it is hands down
- 38:29Speaker 4: the funniest thing you will ever see.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Also, he's also one of the most hated people that
- 38:35Speaker 3: you know. No one who ever worked with him likes him?
- 38:38Speaker 4: Oh really?
- 38:39Speaker 2: Oh well, right about that?
- 38:41Speaker 4: No I thought Leonard Nimoy did.
- 38:43Speaker 3: No, the Leonard Nimoy tolerated him. The rest of the
- 38:46Speaker 3: Star Trek crew couldn't stand him.
- 38:49Speaker 4: T J.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Hooker people couldn't stand him.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Uh.
- 38:52Speaker 1: You know you've fed up when when you can't get
- 38:54Speaker 1: along with Adrian's med. Yeah, that man is a jim.
- 39:02Speaker 4: He made grease too. Damn it, You're in the Treehouse.

- 39:57Speaker 1: is saying is absolutely factually accurate. William Shatner is one
- 40:03Speaker 1: of the most hated actors in Hollywood by other actors
- 40:06Speaker 1: people that have worked with him. It's almost unanimous that
- 40:10Speaker 1: they cannot stand him.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Is it just ego or is it it's just difficult
- 40:15Speaker 4: to work with them and all of it.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Like the Star Trek crew hated him because they said
- 40:21Speaker 3: he would always steal scenes, improvise his own, just put
- 40:24Speaker 3: himself right in the center. I mean, I think James
- 40:27Speaker 3: Dohan and Walter Koenig, I don't think even ever spoke
- 40:31Speaker 3: to him after they were done with the movies.
- 40:35Speaker 1: And James and James doing that was Scott Scotty Scotty yeah,
- 40:40Speaker 1: and Walter Kanig was.
- 40:44Speaker 2: What's the guy's name? It was Sulu. I just drawn
- 40:47Speaker 2: George George.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Of all the people of all the Star Trek cast
- 40:52Speaker 1: that hated William Shatner, George de Kay may have hated.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Him the most.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Really, did you ever see the roast of m.
- 41:01Speaker 4: No, I haven't seen it.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Go watch George kas roast of William Shatner.
- 41:11Speaker 4: You just have to. If you get it, Like, just
- 41:13Speaker 4: look up his album and it spoke, so he does
- 41:16Speaker 4: all these yeah spoken.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Word We've heard some of it.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Russ Russ discovered that. But uh yeah, Mischelle
- 41:25Speaker 3: Nichols couldn't stand him. Yeah, No, literally, I don't remember.
- 41:31Speaker 3: I don't think the Boston I think by the time
- 41:33Speaker 3: he got to Boston Legal, everyone kind of knew what
- 41:35Speaker 3: they were getting and so there wasn't any big surprise.
- 41:39Speaker 1: And wasn't his character in Boston Legal kind of similar
- 41:43Speaker 1: to that in something? Because I never watched Boston Legal,
- 41:45Speaker 1: so I think they just kind of leaned into it,
- 41:47Speaker 1: so he didn't have to really act that much, and
- 41:49Speaker 1: since that was the character, everyone kind of knew what
- 41:52Speaker 1: to expect him just like, all right, it is what
- 41:53Speaker 1: it is, and we'll just deal with it.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Yeah, no, that that character was written like almost written
- 41:57Speaker 3: for him, because yeah, you never knew what he was
- 42:00Speaker 3: gonna do.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Denny Crane, he would just I love that he would
- 42:04Speaker 4: just say his name radimly, I'm Danny Crane.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he shoots somebody, Denny Crane.
- 42:16Speaker 1: And he is good. Because look, I never I never
- 42:20Speaker 1: really watched any episodes of Boston Legal, but I know
- 42:22Speaker 1: the Danny Crane thing.
- 42:24Speaker 4: Yeah, And if you also want to see something funny,
- 42:26Speaker 4: watch the Family Guy version of them doing well, of
- 42:30Speaker 4: Stewie doing William Shatner's version of Rocketman as well, just
- 42:34Speaker 4: just put him side by side.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Man. I don't I don't think I've seen that, and
- 42:38Speaker 1: that surprises me because I've seen just about everything Family Guy.
- 42:41Speaker 4: Yes, Stewie Stewie does William Shatner's version of rocket Man,
- 42:47Speaker 4: and it's in that version, like it's just William Shatner
- 42:50Speaker 4: on a stool smoking a cigarette, just doing Rocket Man
- 42:55Speaker 4: and it's the it's the hands down, the dumbest thing ever.
- 42:58Speaker 4: But his popularity was so his popularity was there, so
- 43:02Speaker 4: they're like, hey, let's give him an album. Look, that's
- 43:04Speaker 4: when they would do that back in the day. It's like, hey,
- 43:06Speaker 4: you know who needs an album, Scott Bayo like, let's
- 43:09Speaker 4: give it one.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Nimoy had an album. Nimoy had an album and he
- 43:14Speaker 1: actually sang he had a hit when the bill bo
- 43:17Speaker 1: Baggins dropping. I think that may have gone double platinum
- 43:24Speaker 1: in Middle Earth.
- 43:26Speaker 4: You know who's got a banger?
- 43:27Speaker 12: Nimoy said, no one ever.
- 43:39Speaker 1: All right, so we all have some homework. We need
- 43:41Speaker 1: to go watch uh, William Shatner's Rocketman thing and the
- 43:46Speaker 1: Baby Stewie version. And Raj, you need to see the
- 43:49Speaker 1: roast of William Shatner. You don't even have to watch
- 43:51Speaker 1: the whole thing, Yeah, but you should. If if nothing else,
