- 3:18Speaker 3: I love what you're doing because a lot of us don't know how to start, especially setting our goals, and I also do coaching myself.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I have one of my clients.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I'm teaching her how to set her goals and really, whatever your passion is, let's start with that.
- 3:35Speaker 3: So you know.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Thank you so much for coming on, so just tell us a little bit more about yourself.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I'm going to ask you some questions.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Right, yeah, absolutely Like you mentioned, Wanda, you know I started my adult life by joining the Marine Corps right out of high school and it was an amazing experience.
- 4:00Speaker 2: It was truly an adventure and towards the I was in the Marine Corps for about six years and I went to Iraq twice and sustained injuries.
- 4:09Speaker 2: My truck got blown up by a roadside bomb towards the end of my second deployment to Iraq and I sustained injuries that really impacted my life.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Right, so for one minute, one day, I'm running around the world as a physically fit Marine, you know, doing a job with full of purpose, um, and the next day I'm not doing that anymore and I'm not going to do that anymore, ever again.
- 4:33Speaker 2: And by my physical abilities, athleticism strengths, um, at the age of 23 was was, was no longer there.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Now I could have allowed that to impact my mindset and that could have been, you know, the biggest thing that ever happened to me and I never could have recovered from it.
- 4:57Speaker 2: You know I would.
- 4:58Speaker 2: A lot, of, a lot of folks in even service members, of a lot of folks in even service members, have similar things happen to them.
- 5:11Speaker 2: They move back in with their, with their families, with their parents, they, they accept disability for the rest of their lives and don't really find the next thing for themselves.
- 5:18Speaker 2: And they, and that's just kind of how it goes I didn't want that to happen, right, and I, and, and, and it's been an amazing adventure since then of accomplishments and success and just a fulfilled life.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Um, and I want to share the skills that I learned over those years, as well as more mindset ideas that I now um study with other people to help them right, use their minds to get to where they're going, where they want to go where you want to go.
- 5:51Speaker 2: It's so important.
- 5:52Speaker 3: That is awesome and I really, I really admire you for doing that, because you could have just sat back, just like.
- 5:58Speaker 3: You know people just they give up, and you didn't give up.
- 6:01Speaker 3: So you took your you know your disabilities to bring it into helping other people so you don't have to be stuck in that situation, right.
- 6:09Speaker 3: So, and I admire that, and I actually have to say my brother and my nephew were in the Marines as well, so thank God they got out.
- 6:19Speaker 3: You know, I mean you just never, know, you never know what can happen, so I'm just so happy to see you and to have you on my podcast to share your story.
- 6:26Speaker 3: So so, the role of collaboration and achieving your goals, your personal professional goals.
- 6:32Speaker 3: How did you collaborate to get to where you are now?
- 6:36Speaker 2: Well, one you have to be open to help.
- 6:38Speaker 2: No one gets there by themselves, no one, I don't care how I mean the more successful, no one, I don't care how I mean the more successful.
- 6:54Speaker 2: In fact, the more successful person you find, if you have the opportunity to speak to them and ask them about collaboration and help, you'll find that they've had more people help them Right.
- 7:00Speaker 2: The more successful you become, the more people you have to thank.
- 7:02Speaker 2: And you know, and the same thing happens, though, when you collaborate and help others too, right, so you get what you give, and it just happens that way.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Karma is not this, you know, it's not this fantasical thing, it's real, like it's just logical, right, right.
- 7:22Speaker 2: So, as far as collaboration, you know, it's, it's been.
- 7:27Speaker 2: There's been several people in my life as I've come through whether it was people that I served with in the military, to people that I knew in high school that that years later were able to, you know, encourage me to try different things or introduce me to different people, and just introducing right collaboration, just opening your network to someone, is amazing and is very important, and networking is very important, but, yeah, collaboration has been.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Of course, I have a great partner and my wife that I've been married to for 20 years.
- 8:08Speaker 2: So having that collaboration at home that helps in both your personal and your professional life is very important as well.
- 8:15Speaker 2: And just finding, you know, along the way, finding people and believing that, having faith, having the attitude of expectancy that the right people will be put in place for the right time, for the right purpose, right, it's going to happen, it's going to happen for me not, oh, I don't know anybody.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And if you say that statement, too, that will be true.
- 8:43Speaker 2: If you say the statement of, oh, I don't know anyone who can help me get there, oh, no one wants to help me, or oh, I just don't have access to fill in the blanks, that will be true for you as well.
- 8:58Speaker 2: But if you wake up and say, hey, you know what, today's going to be a great day.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I'm going to meet the people that I can serve.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I'm going to meet people that can help serve me and my purpose.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I'm going to make the right connections right.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I go to networking multiple times a week the drive over there and other times, but especially the drive there Before I go into that space.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I'm going to meet people that I can help and serve, and I'm also going to meet people that will help me achieve my goals.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I'm going to leave everyone I meet with the feeling of increase.
- 9:37Speaker 3: That's how I go into it.
- 9:38Speaker 2: That's how I go into it and you know what it happens.
- 9:41Speaker 2: You meet the people and you just have to have the right attitude about it.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Absolutely, and God puts those people in your space.
- 9:48Speaker 3: You know to know that that is the right partnership collaboration and that's why I always that's why I named my podcast Ready Set Collaborate, because I've always been.
- 9:58Speaker 3: When COVID happened, I got on Zoom and just started doing webinars with people and having entrepreneurs on.
- 10:05Speaker 3: So I was told to do this podcast, and that's why I named it Ready Set Collaborate, because I like to collaborate with other entrepreneurs and I always say collaboration is the key to success.
- 10:16Speaker 3: It is.
- 10:17Speaker 3: It really is, because you're helping each other out and that success comes from each one working with each other.
- 10:22Speaker 3: So let me ask you another question you probably already answered it, though um, what's the most significant mindset, mindset shift that you've?
- 10:39Speaker 2: been seeing in yourself and others or others what you want and believing that you can have it, making the decision Like first off.
- 10:57Speaker 2: For a lot of people, they shy away from what they want, they don't want to go too big.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Right, there's this.
- 11:07Speaker 2: You know, we were raised with certain ideas about things.
- 11:11Speaker 2: We're raised with certain ideas of what a relationship is supposed to look like, what your income is supposed to look like, what your life is supposed to look like, what kind of houses that?
- 11:19Speaker 2: Maybe that's too much.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Or what kind?
- 11:21Speaker 2: Why would you drive a Lamborghini like that?
- 11:23Speaker 2: Oh, people that drive Lamborghinis are horrible, money grabbing, just horribly unethical people.
- 11:28Speaker 2: No, they're not.
- 11:28Speaker 2: No, they're not.
- 11:30Speaker 2: It's a car, it's a thing.
- 11:33Speaker 2: It's not a moral statement about who they are as a person.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and if they have a good heart and if they provide a good service to people, then that level of success is attributed to the number of people that they could help, the amount of service that they could provide.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Right, like it's not.
- 11:53Speaker 2: We're not stealing.
- 11:54Speaker 2: We're not stealing money from banks.
- 11:55Speaker 2: We're not robbing banks, we're not.
- 11:56Speaker 2: We're not stealing.
- 11:57Speaker 2: We're not stealing money from banks.
- 11:58Speaker 2: We're not robbing banks, we're not.
- 11:59Speaker 2: We're not stealing from people.
- 12:00Speaker 2: So the biggest mindset shift, I see, is when people truly identify what it is that they want and what that future version of themselves looks like when they attain that goal I love it, so say what you want.
- 12:15Speaker 2: And then what does that version of you look like?
- 12:18Speaker 2: What do they tolerate, what do they not tolerate?
- 12:20Speaker 2: Right, what do they do with their time?
- 12:23Speaker 2: How do they dress?
- 12:24Speaker 2: Where do they live Like?
- 12:26Speaker 2: What is their circle look like?
- 12:27Speaker 2: Who are their clients?
- 12:29Speaker 2: Then you can place everything else in order.
- 12:35Speaker 2: But until you know that, until you have the courage to speak it right, Even if it's just to yourself, you're not gonna figure out.
- 12:46Speaker 2: You're gonna have marginal growth forever, that's all.
- 12:51Speaker 2: But if you really wanna grow and have a real adventure, figure out what it is that you want, and when I see people that click for people, then then things start to change.
- 13:01Speaker 3: And that's that was my next question, because you probably already how do you help people break free from limiting beliefs and paradigms?
- 13:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:08Speaker 2: So breaking free from limiting beliefs and paradigms.
- 13:11Speaker 2: So our paradigm is formed over time, right, and it is a set of habitual, like beliefs and thoughts that really controls most of our behavior.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:23Speaker 2: This is why in your mind you can say oh, it's a great idea to go to the gym.
- 13:26Speaker 2: You never do right Because your paradigm is like I'm okay, not going.
- 13:31Speaker 2: So how do we change that?
- 13:34Speaker 2: We get in tune with what our mind is telling ourselves.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Isn't it crazy that you can have a conversation, an argument in your mind with yourself.
- 13:45Speaker 2: That's just wild.
- 13:46Speaker 2: But we take those statements of Andy never gets in, I never get my stuff done, like I don't see things through to completion, I don't spend the time doing what I'm supposed to be doing Right.
- 13:59Speaker 2: We take those statements and we flip them around and we drill them into our subconscious.
- 14:05Speaker 2: We say all the time I am a very effective taskmaster, I'm very productive.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I'm very productive, absolutely.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Yeah, you say it all the time I am very productive, I am a very productive person.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I am a productive person.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I go around my house and I'm talking to myself most of the time.
- 14:25Speaker 2: If you were to hack into my little home security cameras, you would see Andy going around his house talking to himself.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Because I am, because it changes things when you start to tell yourself that different thing and then you start aligning those actions with that.
- 14:42Speaker 2: That's, that is how you stop the self-limiting beliefs and you also really build a picture around the person that you are becoming Right.
- 14:52Speaker 2: So let's say that my goal is to make $10 million a year, to have 200 clients.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Whatever my goal is, how does that version of Andy handle sales or marketing or networking or tasks?
- 15:07Speaker 2: That guy, oh, he gets it done with ease, right?
- 15:13Speaker 2: Well, if I'm becoming that okay, then I need to relax into that too.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I need to relax into that too.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I need to relax into that version of myself and feel it every day, every day.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I love that and I want to ask you this question.
- 15:26Speaker 3: So what advice do you have for someone struggling to set or achieve their goals.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Call me no, just kidding, but no.
- 15:35Speaker 3: And that's what you want to do.
- 15:36Speaker 3: You want to call him.
- 15:38Speaker 2: No, absolutely.
- 15:38Speaker 2: But no, if you're, if you're struggling to set or achieve goals, understand this that a goal is made to For you to grow, it's not necessarily made for you to achieve.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I've set goals that I haven't achieved by the time I said I was going to, and that's OK, because I still grow a lot.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Now I look back and I say, ok, well, what, what obstacles came in there that may be stopped?
- 16:10Speaker 2: Where do I need to be?
- 16:11Speaker 2: How can I adjust so I can achieve that goal next time?
- 16:14Speaker 2: So that's all right.
- 16:15Speaker 2: So if you're, if you're not achieving your goals, then let's, let's look at what your goal next time?
- 16:17Speaker 2: So that's all right.
- 16:17Speaker 2: So if you're, if you're not achieving your goals, then let's, let's look at what your goal is like and and make sure we're we're setting it up correctly.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Um, but yeah, if you're having a hard time, honestly, it is all in your mind.
- 16:31Speaker 2: You haven't made the decision to yet.
- 16:32Speaker 2: You haven't made the decision to yet.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Um, you haven't made the decision to yet.
- 16:37Speaker 2: You haven't made the decision that you're that person.
- 16:40Speaker 2: But that's not where the change is.
- 16:42Speaker 2: The change is in take 15, 30 minutes a day and sit in the wish fulfilled.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Tell me what it feels like, tastes like, smells like, looks like, sounds like in your wish fulfilled when you're sounds like in your wish fulfilled when you're sailing your boat in the in the Florida Keys, because you are that successful or whatever it is that you want to be doing with your success.
- 17:26Speaker 2: That's how you change is in your mind first.
- 17:30Speaker 2: The last place you'll experience your goals is in your five senses.
- 17:33Speaker 2: If you're not experiencing it in your mind first, you'll never have it in the real life.
- 17:37Speaker 3: You won't.
- 17:38Speaker 3: I love that Wish fulfilled.
- 17:40Speaker 3: That's a good way of putting that there.
- 17:42Speaker 3: So, and we're winding down here, how do you incorporate habits and visualization into your coaching strategies?
- 17:50Speaker 2: OK, yeah, absolutely so.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Visualizations in our coaching and my coaching strategy is, like I said, an everyday thing, so we're doing it every day.
- 17:59Speaker 2: We're right where you are writing for 15 minutes at least every day about an aspect of our future selves.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Tell me about a vacation, tell me about an interaction with a client, tell me about a professional event that you hosted or attended.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Tell me about a restaurant that you went to to celebrate a win.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Tell me about the win, like all of about the win, like all of it, like all the details, all of it.
- 18:20Speaker 2: So we're doing that right.
- 18:22Speaker 2: And then we're also identifying the habits of your future self.
- 18:25Speaker 2: What habits does that future version of you have that you need to learn and adapt and create for yourself?
- 18:34Speaker 2: What habits do you have right now that your future version doesn't have?
- 18:38Speaker 2: And let's get rid of those, let's kill those, let's get, let's get them out of here.
- 18:42Speaker 2: So let's change things Right and let's write them down, let's keep ourselves accountable, right.
- 18:47Speaker 2: That's the only way we're yeah, that's the only way we're going to grow um is to set it in our mind that we make a firm decision that we want more, and then we go for it.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I love that.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I love that and I want you to explain to what's the most valuable lessons from your military service that you apply to your work today.
- 19:09Speaker 2: You know, the most valuable lesson I would say is you know, your attitude is everything.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Your attitude is everything.
- 19:18Speaker 2: There's so many times in the military where whether it's training or just day-to-day life or combat or whatever that there's just a lot of opportunity where you're doing things that you might not necessarily enjoy.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Right, you get to choose what attitude you respond with, and the same thing happens now in life and everyone's life.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Your attitude is what you can control, Absolutely Right.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Takes a little bit, takes some work, but, but your attitude is what you can control, so do that.
- 19:53Speaker 2: And and you can, you can change a lot of things.
- 19:57Speaker 3: And you can change a lot of things.
- 19:59Speaker 3: I love that because I think about you when you didn't give up, you know and you actually strive to be what you are today and also helping people and, like I said before, there's a lot of people that get stuck in that mindset that I can't do anything, but you got to turn it around.
- 20:18Speaker 3: You know, and like you said, I actually say every day, something good is going to happen to me today.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 20:24Speaker 3: And you have to believe it.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Say, as you go to sleep, as you're going to sleep, as you're like your eyelids are getting heavy, Tell yourself tomorrow I'm going to wake up with gratitude and I'm going to wake up expecting that good things are going to happen.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Right, and always choose the higher vibrating attitude.
- 20:44Speaker 2: There's always there's a there's a lower vibrating point of view and a higher vibrating point of view Right.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Lower vibrating point of view is oh, there's obstacles that I'm not going to be able to overcome.
- 20:55Speaker 2: This sucks, it's going to, it's going to, it's going to be painful to go through it and it's probably not going to work out.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Or, oh, yeah, there's obstacles that I can overcome and in overcoming those obstacles, I'm going to learn new skills, I'm going to make new relationships, I'm going to feel new, new success.
- 21:11Speaker 2: It's going to be an adventure.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Which is higher and which is lower?
- 21:16Speaker 2: Choose this which is higher and which is lower.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Choose this every time right, because it's going to get you a better life.
- 21:22Speaker 3: And that's the affirmations that we talk about Having those positive affirmations to write down.
- 21:27Speaker 3: So I'm winding down and I want you the last question how do you define success and how has that definition evolved over time for you?
- 21:38Speaker 2: So originally I would say I was more online with the definition of success we find in the dictionary, right Like the accomplishment of an aim, right Like yay, we did it.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I have a better.
- 21:55Speaker 2: I have a definition that I prefer more now, and that is success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Just doing the work, just the steps forward, is success in itself.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Progressive realization of a worthy ideal, if what you're doing is worth your time.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Just taking steps forward is success in itself.
- 22:24Speaker 2: You're becoming better.
- 22:26Speaker 2: You're becoming better every day.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Yesterday can be the worst you've ever been.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Today can be the worst I'll ever be.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Tomorrow I'm gonna be better at it every day.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I agree.
- 22:37Speaker 3: This is my last question because I want to get into it.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Can you give an example of a collaboration that transformed your perspective or business?
- 22:46Speaker 2: I mean, oh yeah, a bunch of them.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Give us the most important one.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Well, I think the most you know, the most important one was really you know that called me to become a mindset coach and that was through, you know, going through coaching myself with some of my colleagues and it's just you know, getting in a room with other people and talking about what's important to you and and hearing other people's you know accounts of how them changing their mindset helped them achieve better right, live a better life, and just that collaboration.
- 23:30Speaker 2: It was a small group of like less than 20 people and you know just high vibrating I would say high vibrating communities and environments right, having the people around you that are doing well and thinking well is really important.
- 23:51Speaker 2: You get around more people like that, the better you'll be.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Absolutely, and, andy, you really shared a lot of great information with us and I really suggest people to really contact you as far as a coaching and consulting, because we need it today.
- 24:08Speaker 3: We need to get our mindset together as far as in order to survive, in order to be successful, um, so I thank you for definitely being on this podcast, ready Set Collaborate podcast.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Now you want to contact Andy and you tell them how they can contact you.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Um, you can email me at andy, at lfg, mindcom.
