- 0:04Speaker 1: Howdy folks, time once again to catch up with Country Weekly,
- 0:08Speaker 1: where we check out news and gossip from the world
- 0:11Speaker 1: of country music. I'm your host, Ken Dawkins, and I
- 0:14Speaker 1: will be reading from various sources found online. As a reminder,
- 0:18Speaker 1: RADIOI is a reading service intended for people who are
- 0:21Speaker 1: blind or have other disabilities that make it difficult to
- 0:24Speaker 1: reprinted material. We'll begin with the first article dated August seventeenth,
- 0:30Speaker 1: and this is from countrynow dot com. Sixty two year
- 0:35Speaker 1: old Craig Morgan climbs stage during International Harvester performance. Craig
- 0:41Speaker 1: Morgan proved that age is truly just a number during
- 0:44Speaker 1: his recent performance at Neon Knights in Ohio, when he
- 0:47Speaker 1: took his high energy stage antics to New Heights on Saturday,
- 0:50Speaker 1: August fifteenth. In videos shared by concert goers, the country
- 0:54Speaker 1: hit maker could be seen climbing the stage trust making
- 0:58Speaker 1: his way several feet into the air while continuing to
- 1:00Speaker 1: perform his two thousand and seven hit International Harvester. Showing
- 1:05Speaker 1: no signs of slowing down, Morgan appeared completely unfazed as
- 1:08Speaker 1: he climbed higher and higher, much to the surprise of
- 1:11Speaker 1: the crowd below, and just when fans thought he'd reached
- 1:14Speaker 1: the stopping point, Morgan went even higher. The unexpected moment
- 1:18Speaker 1: quickly made its way to TikTok, where multiple videos captured
- 1:21Speaker 1: the singer songwriter's impressive and slightly nerve wracking climb from
- 1:25Speaker 1: different angles. While fans were entertained by Morgan's fearless antics,
- 1:29Speaker 1: several admitted they were a little concerned watching him scale
- 1:32Speaker 1: the stage. It made me so nervous, one fan admitted.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Others couldn't help but imagine what was going through the
- 1:38Speaker 1: mines of Morgan's crew and security teams he climbed his
- 1:41Speaker 1: big climb. You know this had the team sweating. One
- 1:44Speaker 1: person joked his security team must pull their hair out
- 1:47Speaker 1: with him. Craig Morgan, a singer, author, actor, and soldier,
- 1:51Speaker 1: continues to tour on a regular basis, performing hits like Redneck,
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yacht Club, Almost Home, That's what I Love About Sunday
- 1:58Speaker 1: and more. Obviously served in the Army and Army Reserved,
- 2:01Speaker 1: Morgan has long been committed to supporting the military and
- 2:05Speaker 1: giving back to veterans. That commitment will continue this November
- 2:09Speaker 1: when the Grand Old Opry member hosts Craig Morgan's Veterans
- 2:12Speaker 1: Day five K supported by Hugh Manner on the morning
- 2:15Speaker 1: of November seventh at the Grand Old Opry House ahead
- 2:18Speaker 1: of the headlining performance at Nashville's Ryeman Auditorium that evening.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Registrations currently open at Veterans Day five k dot Com,
- 2:26Speaker 1: with portions of the proceeds benefit benefiting the Opry Trust Fund,
- 2:30Speaker 1: Operation Finally Home, the USO and the Dixon County Craig
- 2:34Speaker 1: Morgan Foundation. We celebrate Veterans Day each year to honor
- 2:38Speaker 1: the men and women who served our great nation in
- 2:40Speaker 1: our US military. I'm inviting you to join me on
- 2:43Speaker 1: November seventh to run, honor and remember our veterans during
- 2:47Speaker 1: this first ever race and give back to those who
- 2:49Speaker 1: have already given us so much. He previously shared. Next,
- 2:54Speaker 1: colt Ford postponed several upcoming shows to focus on recovery
- 2:58Speaker 1: after bus crash. Colt Ford's team at Average Joe's Entertainment
- 3:03Speaker 1: who shared a health update for the country Acts following
- 3:06Speaker 1: a bus crash in Germany on Wednesday. Following the wreck,
- 3:09Speaker 1: the singer took to social media to update fans, revealing
- 3:12Speaker 1: that his tour bus crashed into a ditch while he
- 3:15Speaker 1: and his crew were on their way to a Germany show.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Although the accident left them with some minor injuries, he
- 3:20Speaker 1: reassured fans that everyone was okay and grateful the outcome
- 3:23Speaker 1: wasn't more serious. He wrote, one minute, you're headed to
- 3:27Speaker 1: Germany for a show and prepping for single release. The
- 3:29Speaker 1: next thing you know, your bus is in the ditch
- 3:32Speaker 1: and you're getting pulled through a windshield with a broken
- 3:34Speaker 1: shoulder by first responders. The crew is a little banged up,
- 3:37Speaker 1: but we're all still here. The cause and exact location
- 3:41Speaker 1: of the crash were not shared with the public. However,
- 3:44Speaker 1: it is known that the accident occurred prior to the singer,
- 3:47Speaker 1: who was set to perform on Saturday at Tailgate X
- 3:50Speaker 1: in Balanstead, a city in central Germany. As a result
- 3:54Speaker 1: of his broken shoulder, Ford had to undergo surgery just
- 3:56Speaker 1: a few days later, which his team revealed was successful.
- 4:00Speaker 1: We're happy to share that the surgery went well and
- 4:02Speaker 1: Cold is now focused on resting, recovering, and getting back
- 4:05Speaker 1: to doing what he loves. Ford will be rescheduling or
- 4:08Speaker 1: canceling several upcoming shows to allow himself time to heal properly.
- 4:12Speaker 1: The latest statement posted to Ford's Instagram on Friday, August fourteenth,
- 4:16Speaker 1: notes that the dirt rote Anthem singer hates having to
- 4:19Speaker 1: miss any performances or time with his fans. However, his
- 4:22Speaker 1: health and recovery have to come first. Cold Ford's posts
- 4:26Speaker 1: have received an outpouring of love and support from fans
- 4:28Speaker 1: and members of the music industry. Of course, anyone who
- 4:31Speaker 1: already purchased tickets for upcoming shows will no longer be
- 4:34Speaker 1: taking place on the originally scheduled date should contact the
- 4:37Speaker 1: individual venue or point of purchase for information regarding scheduled
- 4:41Speaker 1: dates and or refunds and the closest postponed show to
- 4:45Speaker 1: hearers in Nashville and August twenty seventh. The latest accident
- 4:49Speaker 1: comes just two years after Ford survived a near fatal
- 4:51Speaker 1: heart attack in twenty twenty four. Following the health scare,
- 4:55Speaker 1: Ford made significant lifestyle changes, including altering his diet and
- 4:59Speaker 1: losing more than sixty pounds. He has since returned to
- 5:03Speaker 1: the road and just released his latest single, Fake Redneck
- 5:06Speaker 1: as a Right Now. Ford is scheduled to return to
- 5:08Speaker 1: the road on September fourth for a show at the
- 5:10Speaker 1: Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee. Next Cody Johnson reveals what
- 5:17Speaker 1: George Strait told him after their Clemson Stadium show. As
- 5:21Speaker 1: a native Texan and lifelong lover of country music, Cody
- 5:24Speaker 1: Johnson is no stranger to George Strait, and it's no
- 5:27Speaker 1: surprise that the King of country music is one of
- 5:29Speaker 1: the biggest musical heroes. So when Johnson got the opportunity
- 5:33Speaker 1: to share the stage with Straight at Clemson University's Memorial
- 5:36Speaker 1: Stadium famously known as Death Valley in Clemson, South Carolina,
- 5:41Speaker 1: earlier this year, he made sure to soak up every moment.
- 5:45Speaker 1: During a recent conversation with Country Now and other outlets,
- 5:48Speaker 1: Johnson reflected on the unforgettable experience of opening for the
- 5:52Speaker 1: Country Music Hall of Famer and recall the memorable conversation
- 5:55Speaker 1: they shared after the show. I got to sit on
- 5:58Speaker 1: the bus with George and have a third minute conversation
- 6:01Speaker 1: about nothing really. We talked about golf, we talked about cattle,
- 6:04Speaker 1: you know, and being from Texas, Johnson recalled what happened
- 6:08Speaker 1: next is something that will stick with the Deer Rodeo
- 6:10Speaker 1: singer forever. Do you hear George Strait say to me, Son,
- 6:13Speaker 1: you're doing it the right way, Like, don't change anything
- 6:16Speaker 1: you're doing here. You're doing it the right way. And man,
- 6:19Speaker 1: I'm proud of you. And you're representing Texas, you're representing
- 6:22Speaker 1: country music, well, you're representing cowboys well, and it just
- 6:26Speaker 1: meant the world to me Johnson's chaer. According to Johnson,
- 6:29Speaker 1: the conversation took an unexpected turn when he jokingly brought
- 6:32Speaker 1: up his recent performance at the Houston Livestock Show at Rodeo,
- 6:36Speaker 1: where he set a new attendance record at n RG
- 6:38Speaker 1: Stadium with more than eighty thousand fans. The record had
- 6:41Speaker 1: previously been held by Strait. So I mentioned to him that, well,
- 6:46Speaker 1: you know, I broke your record at Houston, and he
- 6:48Speaker 1: didn't know. He said, do what? He said, Yeah, I
- 6:51Speaker 1: busted your record at Houston Rodeo at a n RG stadium.
- 6:53Speaker 1: He said, well, I guess I'll have to come back
- 6:56Speaker 1: eventually and kick your ass. And I said, I hope
- 6:58Speaker 1: you do, because I want to watch, because that gives
- 7:00Speaker 1: me reason to come back. And while Johnson may have
- 7:03Speaker 1: gotten the last laugh by breaking Straight's Houston Rodeo record,
- 7:07Speaker 1: the real takeaway from their conversation was far more meaningful
- 7:10Speaker 1: hearing his longtime hero tell him he's doing it the
- 7:13Speaker 1: right way. Looking back at the moment, Johnson just laughed.
- 7:16Speaker 1: He said, it's been a pretty good year so far.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Now we tread lightly on over to Saving Country Music
- 7:22Speaker 1: with the first article dated August eighteenth, on Miranda Lambert
- 7:27Speaker 1: opening controversial new Live Nation venue, The Truth Saving Country
- 7:32Speaker 1: Music says there's worse offenses for sure, Nobody should be
- 7:35Speaker 1: looking to cancel Miranda Lambert over this issue. Artists deserve
- 7:39Speaker 1: to get paid and Live Nation is often the devil
- 7:42Speaker 1: you have to dance with in the music industry for
- 7:44Speaker 1: artists both big and small. But is it a bad
- 7:47Speaker 1: look and kind of is Could she have seeded this
- 7:50Speaker 1: opportunity to someone else? Yes, and she should have, says
- 7:55Speaker 1: Saving Country Music. For those that are unaware Nashville's new
- 7:58Speaker 1: mid sized indoor music venue, The Truth was already stirring
- 8:02Speaker 1: controversy before they even broke round. First announced in October
- 8:06Speaker 1: of last year, the Truth was clearly the corporate attempt
- 8:08Speaker 1: to rip off the mother church of country music, the
- 8:11Speaker 1: Ryman Auditorium, which only sits a mile and a half
- 8:14Speaker 1: away and has a very similar architectural structure and size.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Even the name of the new venue is derived from
- 8:20Speaker 1: the old Harlan Howard quote that defines country music as
- 8:23Speaker 1: three chords and the truth. Sally Williams, who was president
- 8:27Speaker 1: of Nashville's music and business strategy for Live Nation and
- 8:30Speaker 1: was the one who formally announced the project, also happens
- 8:34Speaker 1: to be the former general manager of the Ryman Auditorium.
- 8:37Speaker 1: But hey, Live Nation owns and operates venues all across
- 8:40Speaker 1: the US and already has a major footprint in Nashville.
- 8:44Speaker 1: There are worse things to transpire than them opening another venue,
- 8:47Speaker 1: even if it's a little too close for comfort with
- 8:49Speaker 1: the country music historical landmark. But then Live Nation really
- 8:53Speaker 1: showed off the predatory, tone deaf nature of the business
- 8:57Speaker 1: by how they decided to promote it As construction commenced
- 9:01Speaker 1: at five hundred Chestnut Street in Nashville's Wedgewood Houston neighborhood.
- 9:04Speaker 1: On the Truth, Live Nation hired a company who went
- 9:07Speaker 1: around Nashville's stenciling graffiti style advertisements for it on sidewalks
- 9:12Speaker 1: around town and specifically in front of multiple locally owned venues.
- 9:18Speaker 1: The ads read the sound of New Nashville texts Truth
- 9:21Speaker 1: to plus one, six, one, five, YadA, YadA YadA, texting
- 9:25Speaker 1: the numbers signed you up for automated ticketing alerts for
- 9:28Speaker 1: the venue. One such spray painted advertisement was stenciled right
- 9:32Speaker 1: outside their front door of the beloved East Nashville music venue,
- 9:35Speaker 1: The Five Spot, The community oriented venue is considered the
- 9:39Speaker 1: epicenter of the city's independent music scene. The spring Water's
- 9:42Speaker 1: Supper Club near Centennial Park, which the oldest operating bar
- 9:46Speaker 1: in Tennessee and a place many up and comers get
- 9:49Speaker 1: their start, also got hit with one of the ads. Incidentally,
- 9:53Speaker 1: Nashville City Code strictly prohibits such ads. This is where
- 9:57Speaker 1: when iyre for the new venue really created the population
- 10:01Speaker 1: of music artists and fans in Nashville and beyond. When
- 10:04Speaker 1: the first slate of performers were announced, there were only
- 10:06Speaker 1: a few country or a country adjacent acts. Sting Beck, Limp, Biscuit, Bleecher's,
- 10:12Speaker 1: Glow Rilla and Moore were booked to appear this fall. Previously,
- 10:16Speaker 1: opening night was scheduled to be on October fifth, when
- 10:19Speaker 1: Disney actor free A Sky took the stage, But now
- 10:23Speaker 1: it's been announced that none other than Miranda Lambert will
- 10:25Speaker 1: be the inaugural performer at the Truth, officially opening up
- 10:28Speaker 1: the venue on October first. The show will come the
- 10:32Speaker 1: night before Lambert releases her new record, the disco inspired Crisco,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and will feature a twelve piece string section to go
- 10:39Speaker 1: along with her regular tour band. It was magical to
- 10:42Speaker 1: hear the way strings can transform a song when we
- 10:45Speaker 1: were in the studio creating this record, and I can't
- 10:47Speaker 1: wait to bring that life to an even bigger way
- 10:49Speaker 1: with our full set list, Lambert says in a statement.
- 10:53Speaker 1: We've never gotten to play that way on stage, and
- 10:55Speaker 1: to have the opportunity to do it for the first
- 10:56Speaker 1: time at the opening of a beautiful new venue right
- 10:59Speaker 1: here in Nashville is going to be really special. Again.
- 11:03Speaker 1: This isn't a hanging offense, but being the opening performer
- 11:07Speaker 1: of this live nation venue in the aftermath of the
- 11:09Speaker 1: company's massive lawsuit and their behavior promoting it, it's just
- 11:13Speaker 1: not a good look, says Saving Country Music. Miranda Lambert
- 11:16Speaker 1: has always been one of those performers with mainstream impact
- 11:19Speaker 1: that more independent and traditional country fans can still appreciate.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Her championing of songwriters has been exceptional, and generally speaking,
- 11:27Speaker 1: she's always kept her music more rooted in the roots
- 11:29Speaker 1: compared to contemporaries. But in part it's this street cred
- 11:33Speaker 1: and legitimacy that the Truth wants to sponge off by
- 11:36Speaker 1: putting Miranda Lambert on the stage first. Eventually, the Truth
- 11:40Speaker 1: will simply blend in with the rest of Nashville's live
- 11:42Speaker 1: music inventory. Has just another venue and there won't be
- 11:45Speaker 1: any kind of stigma around playing it. But they could
- 11:48Speaker 1: have allowed some aging rocker from out of town to
- 11:51Speaker 1: forever be the first person who have played a venue
- 11:53Speaker 1: that very well might affect the efficacy of the Riemann
- 11:56Speaker 1: Auditorium and other independently owned music venues in Nashville moving forward.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Now it be what is likely to be a future
- 12:03Speaker 1: Country Music Hall of Famer Next John Paycheck crafts a
- 12:09Speaker 1: better plan ahead of new album. As we like to
- 12:12Speaker 1: say about our country heroes, they're gone but not forgotten.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It's even easier not to forget them when their progeny
- 12:18Speaker 1: make it a personal mission to keep their legacy going,
- 12:21Speaker 1: and not just by being a re enactment, but by
- 12:23Speaker 1: following in their footsteps and making country music their way.
- 12:27Speaker 1: That's what second generation performer John Paycheck has been doing
- 12:31Speaker 1: since launching his own country music career in twenty twenty one.
- 12:34Speaker 1: After twenty years in the military. Paycheck worked as a
- 12:38Speaker 1: tour manager for his father for a number of years,
- 12:40Speaker 1: but then after nine to eleven, enlisted in the army
- 12:42Speaker 1: and went on to become a helicopter and fixed wing
- 12:44Speaker 1: pilot and earned the rank of major, making him one
- 12:47Speaker 1: of the highest ranking officers in country music, if not
- 12:50Speaker 1: the highest. But saving country music is his primary mission
- 12:54Speaker 1: now and leaning into the more traditional nineties inspired side
- 12:57Speaker 1: of the genre. You hear then in his new songong
- 13:00Speaker 1: the fiddle driven Better Plan, which is the title track
- 13:02Speaker 1: to his upcoming album. This is a song about the
- 13:06Speaker 1: quiet struggle to become a better person in a world
- 13:08Speaker 1: that is quick to judge and slow to understand. Paycheck
- 13:11Speaker 1: says it follows a man who has made mistakes, carried pain,
- 13:14Speaker 1: and doesn't claim to have all the answers, but refuses
- 13:17Speaker 1: to stop trying. It's not about chasing perfection. It's about
- 13:20Speaker 1: choosing humility, hope, forgiveness, and the determination to keep searching
- 13:24Speaker 1: for a better you with a better Plan. The song
- 13:28Speaker 1: Better Plan is out now and the album will be
- 13:30Speaker 1: out November twenty seventh from horse Bite Entertainment. It was
- 13:34Speaker 1: produced by Bill mcturmot Gnome Studios in Nashville. Paycheck composes
- 13:39Speaker 1: ten of the fourteen songs himself, with frequent collaborator Scott
- 13:42Speaker 1: Gabby also contributing to the writing. The album also includes
- 13:46Speaker 1: the previously released song Son of the Spark that Paycheck
- 13:49Speaker 1: cut with another son of country music struggles Jennings. I'd
- 13:53Speaker 1: like to give people what they feel they've been missing
- 13:56Speaker 1: the past fifteen years, more traditional country music based off
- 13:59Speaker 1: the night Sound, with an updated return to a more
- 14:02Speaker 1: country western field that people can dance to. John Paycheck
- 14:05Speaker 1: has said in the past, I believe my widely diverse
- 14:08Speaker 1: and unique personal experiences allow me to reach out to
- 14:12Speaker 1: many different people and understand them in a small way.
- 14:15Speaker 1: The track list Better Plan Clover, Sons of Spark, point
- 14:19Speaker 1: them North, Uber to the Opry battles you never knew pieces,
- 14:24Speaker 1: Text in one day, stop and say hello, All up
- 14:27Speaker 1: to time? Daddy, are you listening? J D. Foster Turn
- 14:31Speaker 1: the page and shine next. Brother of the band Perry
- 14:36Speaker 1: exposes falsehood behind new lineup. At this point, we've gotten
- 14:41Speaker 1: so far beyond the comical and nonsensical with the entire
- 14:44Speaker 1: epic that is the band Perry and their decade long implosion, reinvention, reconstitution,
- 14:49Speaker 1: and now whatever. The latest iteration is all you can
- 14:52Speaker 1: do is sit back and marvel. Why anyone would take
- 14:54Speaker 1: any of this seriously, why certain media outlets put any
- 14:57Speaker 1: effort into legitimizing it and then got duped, and why
- 15:01Speaker 1: otherwise well curated festivals have been booking this band and
- 15:04Speaker 1: artists continued to collaborate with them. Kimberly Perry's batman villain
- 15:08Speaker 1: level maniacal manipulations have been going on for years. In
- 15:13Speaker 1: the latest twist, brother Neil Perry, who is one of
- 15:15Speaker 1: the two brothers in the band, has come out to
- 15:17Speaker 1: say that he was terminated and has been frozen out
- 15:19Speaker 1: of the family business that he helped build, and that
- 15:22Speaker 1: the way his exit was portrayed by Kimberly Perry and
- 15:25Speaker 1: specifically Rolling Stone Country, was a complete and utter fabrication
- 15:29Speaker 1: to try and save face. The other brother in the trio, Reid,
- 15:33Speaker 1: left in late twenty twenty five after the band initially
- 15:36Speaker 1: broke up in twenty twenty three, before returning again in
- 15:39Speaker 1: mid twenty five with Red Kimberly and Kimberly's husband Johnny Costello.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Currently the band Perry only consists of Kimberly and Costello
- 15:47Speaker 1: as the two full time members. In a multiple Instagram
- 15:51Speaker 1: posts on Tuesday afternoon, Neil Perry said in response to
- 15:54Speaker 1: a Rolling Stone Country interview where Kimberly Perry said her
- 15:57Speaker 1: brothers were supportive of the latest iteration of the band
- 16:01Speaker 1: without them. The story emerged in a February twenty six
- 16:04Speaker 1: exclusive puff piece in Rolling Stone Country taken from and
- 16:08Speaker 1: interview with Kimberly Perry and senior editor Joseph Hoodek on
- 16:12Speaker 1: the Nashville Now podcast. Often artists trade their exclusivity for
- 16:16Speaker 1: the right to portray themselves however they wish, with the
- 16:19Speaker 1: media acting like nothing more than a stenographer, and that's
- 16:23Speaker 1: basically what Joseph Hoodek and Rolling Stone Country did. As
- 16:26Speaker 1: Saving Country Music said at the time while deconstructing multiple
- 16:30Speaker 1: falsehoods and mischaracterizations forwarded in the puff piece, rolling Stone
- 16:34Speaker 1: Country characteristically did not offer her and scrutiny whatsoever on
- 16:38Speaker 1: all the relaunches and gaslighting over the years. At the time,
- 16:42Speaker 1: though this had more to do with Kimberly Perry portraying
- 16:44Speaker 1: herself as a victim of pro country and being kicked
- 16:47Speaker 1: out of Nashville, as opposed to taking herself and her
- 16:50Speaker 1: brothers down a primrose path to attempted pop stardom that
- 16:54Speaker 1: imploded in their faces in one of the most dramatic
- 16:56Speaker 1: falls from grace and country music history. Oh and behind.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Kimberly Perry also lied when she told Rolling Stone Country
- 17:04Speaker 1: about her brothers. I think they are very interested in
- 17:06Speaker 1: the band Perry getting landed as well. This was my
- 17:09Speaker 1: family band in the living room before everything else, and
- 17:12Speaker 1: so I just really feel it encouraged. Clearly, the brothers
- 17:15Speaker 1: were not contacted to corroborate this characterization, nor did anyone
- 17:19Speaker 1: who has been paying attention to the doings of this
- 17:21Speaker 1: band believe it for a second. But Rolling Stone Country
- 17:24Speaker 1: put it in print, clipped it, and put it on
- 17:26Speaker 1: the Internet. Neil Perry was very specifically included the clip
- 17:30Speaker 1: and his Instagram rantings about the mischaracterizations. Neil Perry also
- 17:35Speaker 1: included a clip from The Bobby Bone Show, but in
- 17:37Speaker 1: that one, Bobby Bones basically calls out the nonsense of
- 17:40Speaker 1: the whole situation by saying to Kimberley Perry, I think
- 17:43Speaker 1: you pulled off the greatest coup ever. You were in
- 17:45Speaker 1: the band Perry with your two brothers. It's kind of
- 17:48Speaker 1: hard to be the band Perry without your brothers, so
- 17:50Speaker 1: then you come back, you your brother and your husband.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Then you drop your brother. If that was on purpose
- 17:55Speaker 1: genius level, everyone in the industry seemed to know. This
- 17:58Speaker 1: is what happened. Kim Bill Perry edged out her brothers
- 18:01Speaker 1: in favor of her husband, so all the band's financial
- 18:03Speaker 1: and business assets rested under her own roof, But for
- 18:07Speaker 1: whatever reason, Joseph Hudak and Rolling Stone Country did not.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Kimberly Perry responded to Bobby Bones, it just happened the
- 18:13Speaker 1: way it happened, But no, not strategic. Kimberly Perry is
- 18:17Speaker 1: a long history of issuing lies that go unchecked in
- 18:19Speaker 1: the media, including once claiming they never went pop, clearly
- 18:22Speaker 1: contradicting their own on record quotations. How this latest iteration
- 18:27Speaker 1: of the band Perry landed a label deal in booking representation,
- 18:30Speaker 1: ended up on the lineups of festivals like the Two
- 18:32Speaker 1: Step In and Bristol Rhythm and Roots, playing to backing tracks,
- 18:36Speaker 1: and are still being taken seriously by anyone defies logic.
- 18:40Speaker 1: If Kimberly Perry wants to make music with her husband,
- 18:43Speaker 1: she should knock herself out. But the band Perry die
- 18:46Speaker 1: in twenty fifteen when they released their first pop single,
- 18:49Speaker 1: Live Forever, and it colossally failed to launch them into
- 18:52Speaker 1: the stratospheres. Planned for the love of all things decent
- 18:56Speaker 1: and wholly let this band die of death, says saving
- 18:58Speaker 1: country music and let every one move on, and also
- 19:02Speaker 1: never take Kimberly Perry at her word. Now we step
- 19:06Speaker 1: on the gas to get over to the boot dot
- 19:07Speaker 1: com with the first article dated August nineteenth. Rascal Flats
- 19:12Speaker 1: Gary Levox says it's weird to be an influence on
- 19:15Speaker 1: new artists. Rascal Flats frontman Gary Levox has spent decades
- 19:20Speaker 1: making country music, but he still has a hard time
- 19:22Speaker 1: wrapping his head around the idea that today's country artists
- 19:25Speaker 1: were influenced by the music he made with the group.
- 19:29Speaker 1: When he was asked on Taste of Country Nights if
- 19:32Speaker 1: it took him a while to appreciate the impact Rascal
- 19:35Speaker 1: Flats had on other artists who came after them, he
- 19:37Speaker 1: admitted that it's still something he feels strange about. Levox said,
- 19:41Speaker 1: it's still weird, you know, because I don't even I can't.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I don't even know where time went. This is something
- 19:46Speaker 1: we can all relate to when it comes to our
- 19:48Speaker 1: own lives. Time seems to fly by so fast when
- 19:51Speaker 1: you look back at things that you've worked hard to achieve.
- 19:54Speaker 1: For Levox, it's difficult to step outside of that and
- 19:56Speaker 1: realize that the songs Rascal Flats made in the early
- 19:59Speaker 1: two thousands became an important part of a musical upbringing
- 20:02Speaker 1: for an entirely new generation of country artists. But Levox
- 20:06Speaker 1: also remembers what it was like to watch other artists
- 20:09Speaker 1: come through the Rascal Flats tours along the way as
- 20:12Speaker 1: the group became one of country music's biggest acts. The
- 20:15Speaker 1: list is substantial, Taylor Swift, Derek Church, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton,
- 20:20Speaker 1: Darius Rucker, Loop Bryant, Little Bigtown, Scott McCreary, Casey Ballerini,
- 20:24Speaker 1: Daniel Shay, Chris Lane, Chase Rice, and Lauren Elena. The
- 20:29Speaker 1: band gave plenty of artists an opportunity to share the
- 20:31Speaker 1: stage with them, and LEVAQX says it was rewarding to
- 20:34Speaker 1: eventually watch those artists find their own success. You know,
- 20:38Speaker 1: he opened up a lot of doors. I mean everybody
- 20:40Speaker 1: opened for us, Lavaux said, So it was pretty cool
- 20:43Speaker 1: to watch everybody else get on and do their own thing. Now,
- 20:47Speaker 1: years later, he's watching artists who grew up listening to
- 20:49Speaker 1: Rascal Flats carry pieces of that music into their own careers.
- 20:53Speaker 1: And while Levox may still find it weird to think
- 20:56Speaker 1: of himself as an influence, there's something pretty cool about
- 20:59Speaker 1: realizing the music you spent your career making helped open
- 21:02Speaker 1: the door for the next generation next. Carly Pierce says
- 21:08Speaker 1: upcoming fifth album will be her most vulnerable yet. Carly
- 21:12Speaker 1: Pierce will be letting fans get to know her on
- 21:14Speaker 1: a deeper level with her fifth studio album, Honest Woman,
- 21:18Speaker 1: which drops on August twenty eighth. After ten years of
- 21:21Speaker 1: doing music at this level, Pierre says some things haven't changed,
- 21:24Speaker 1: but some have. She's still a storyteller and songwriter first,
- 21:28Speaker 1: and she takes being vulnerable with her music very seriously.
- 21:32Speaker 1: But this time around, she's opening up more than ever before.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Pierce was a guest on the Taste of Country Nights,
- 21:38Speaker 1: where she was asked what's the same and what's different
- 21:41Speaker 1: on her upcoming Honest Woman record. Pierce said, I think
- 21:44Speaker 1: people are learning a lot more about me. My vulnerability
- 21:47Speaker 1: is stretching outside of just relationships. That gives the new
- 21:51Speaker 1: album a different feel from some of her previous projects.
- 21:54Speaker 1: She's still allowing fans to see more sides of who
- 21:56Speaker 1: she is, but she's leaning into the honest storytelling that's
- 21:59Speaker 1: become such important part of her music. According to Pierce,
- 22:03Speaker 1: there will be a noticeable difference in the sound of
- 22:05Speaker 1: the album. She co produced the project with her longtime
- 22:08Speaker 1: friend Ben West, a collaboration she says brought something new
- 22:11Speaker 1: out of her creatively. Pierce said, I just think he
- 22:15Speaker 1: brought out something in me that really is sonically the
- 22:17Speaker 1: best music I've ever made. So while Carly Pearce is
- 22:21Speaker 1: still doing what she's always done, telling stories and putting
- 22:24Speaker 1: her real emotions into her songs, her next album gives
- 22:27Speaker 1: fans a bigger picture of the woman behind the music.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Moving along. Scotty McCreary's son, Avery has one question for
- 22:34Speaker 1: daddy before every show. Scotty McCreary's three year old son,
- 22:38Speaker 1: Avery has apparently decided that watching his dad perform from
- 22:41Speaker 1: backstage now, that's not quite good enough. The country star
- 22:45Speaker 1: says there's one question Avery asks him before every show,
- 22:49Speaker 1: every single time he is out on the road with
- 22:51Speaker 1: his dad. McCreary was a guest on Taste of Country
- 22:54Speaker 1: nights and asks about the recent viral video of his
- 22:57Speaker 1: son Avery singing with his dad on stage at a show.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Turns out that if Avery had his way, he would
- 23:04Speaker 1: come out on stage every single night. McCreary told Taste
- 23:07Speaker 1: of Country when he's on the road on the bus,
- 23:09Speaker 1: it's the first thing that he asks when he wakes up, Dad,
- 23:13Speaker 1: can I come on stage? McCrary says that's become a
- 23:16Speaker 1: bit of a routine for his son. In fact, the
- 23:18Speaker 1: last thing Avery says before his dad takes stage is
- 23:22Speaker 1: the same question, can I go on stage with you?
- 23:25Speaker 1: And honestly, McCrary doesn't seem to mind one bit. He
- 23:27Speaker 1: says his son is a ham and he loves it.
- 23:30Speaker 1: The damn straight singer says he loves seeing how much
- 23:32Speaker 1: his son enjoys being around the music and the excitement
- 23:35Speaker 1: of his shows. He loves it. He's a ham. McCreary says, Avery,
- 23:39Speaker 1: as we said, is still just three years old, but
- 23:41Speaker 1: he's already showing plenty of personality and if his repeated
- 23:44Speaker 1: requests or any indication, he's also not exactly shy about
- 23:48Speaker 1: letting dad know when he wants a little more stage time.
- 23:51Speaker 1: For McCreary, it's a pretty sweet thing. Glimpsed into the future,
- 23:55Speaker 1: Avery gets to watch his dad do what he loves,
- 23:57Speaker 1: and apparently he'd like to be right there beside him.
- 24:00Speaker 1: McCurry also told a Taste of Country that his son
- 24:03Speaker 1: has a mini drum set at home and that when
- 24:06Speaker 1: he plays it, it's complete chaos, but his son loves
- 24:08Speaker 1: when the whole family gets together and watches him. And
- 24:12Speaker 1: we move over now to WOKO ninety eight point nine
- 24:16Speaker 1: Big Country dot Com, where we find that Luke Combs
- 24:20Speaker 1: extends My Kind Of Saturday Night Tour into twenty twenty seven.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Article dated August seventeenth, Luke Combs is taking his Mike
- 24:27Speaker 1: Kind Of Saturday Night Tour into next year with twelve
- 24:30Speaker 1: additional stadium concerts across the US and Canada. In an
- 24:33Speaker 1: August thirteenth announcement, the Country Star confirmed the new run
- 24:37Speaker 1: will begin April third at at and T Stadium in Arlington, Texas,
- 24:41Speaker 1: and continue through late June. The newly announced schedule includes
- 24:44Speaker 1: stops in Minneapolis, Detroit, Philadelphia, Foxboro, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Edmonton, Vancouver,
- 24:50Speaker 1: Boise in Denver. The twenty seven leg is set to

- 24:57Speaker 1: Trityoak Revival, Averanna Shenandoah, and Wyatt Covin were also announced
- 25:01Speaker 1: as special guests for the stadium dates. The extension follows
- 25:05Speaker 1: a major twenty six run that sold more than one
- 25:07Speaker 1: point three seven million tickets and recently included three shows
- 25:12Speaker 1: in London. Coombs is also touring behind his March twenty
- 25:15Speaker 1: twenty sixth album The Way I Am, which reached number
- 25:18Speaker 1: one No Surprise on the Billboard. Two hundred tickets for
- 25:22Speaker 1: the newly adic concerts were scheduled to go on sale
- 25:24Speaker 1: August twenty first. Next, Noah Kahan brings out Chapel Roane
- 25:30Speaker 1: during milestone Rose Bowl concert in Pasadena. Noa. Kahan gave
- 25:35Speaker 1: fans an unexpected moment during his sold out Rose Bowl
- 25:38Speaker 1: concert in Pasadena Saturday night, bringing Chapel Roane on stage
- 25:42Speaker 1: for a surprise collaboration. The two artists performed roan song
- 25:45Speaker 1: California together in front of a crowd of about fifty
- 25:48Speaker 1: six thousand people during the August sixteenth show. Ron also
- 25:52Speaker 1: took a moment to praise Kahan before the performance. She
- 25:55Speaker 1: told the audience that Kahan has consistently supported her and
- 25:59Speaker 1: described him as a good person, adding a personal note
- 26:01Speaker 1: to their appearance together. Dewett came during a major night
- 26:05Speaker 1: for Kahan, whose Rose Bowl date marked the largest headlining
- 26:08Speaker 1: concert of his career. The show was part of his
- 26:11Speaker 1: Great Divide tour, included material from his recent work as
- 26:15Speaker 1: well as fan favorites. Khan closed the concert with an
- 26:18Speaker 1: encore featuring end of August Homesick and Stick Season. Rohan's
- 26:22Speaker 1: appearance added another notable live collaboration to a night that
- 26:26Speaker 1: marked a new milestone in Kahan's touring career. Next, Chris
- 26:30Speaker 1: Stapleton makes surprise appearance at Guns n' Roses concert. Fans
- 26:35Speaker 1: at a recent Guns n' Roses concert got an unexpected
- 26:38Speaker 1: moment when Chris Stapleton walked on to the stage to
- 26:41Speaker 1: perform Knocking on Heaven's Door with the band. The appearance
- 26:45Speaker 1: came during the show's encore, adding a country music voice
- 26:47Speaker 1: to one of the group's most recognizable live songs. The
- 26:50Speaker 1: collaboration was announced in the moment as Stapleton joined Axel,
- 26:53Speaker 1: Rose Slash and the rest of the band for the performance.
- 26:57Speaker 1: The song has been part of Guns and Roses concerts
- 26:59Speaker 1: for decades after the group recorded its own version of
- 27:02Speaker 1: Bob Dylan's classic in the early nineteen nineties. Stapleton is known,
- 27:06Speaker 1: of course, for blending country, blues and rock throughout his career,
- 27:10Speaker 1: making the performance a natural fit for the audience. Concert
- 27:13Speaker 1: Goers responded with loud applause as the musicians shared the
- 27:16Speaker 1: stage for the special guest appearance. While surprise collaborations have
- 27:20Speaker 1: become a familiar part of major tours, this performance stood
- 27:23Speaker 1: out by bringing together two artists from different corners of
- 27:26Speaker 1: American music. The moment gave fans a rare live pairing
- 27:29Speaker 1: that celebrated a song with a long history across multiple genres.
- 27:34Speaker 1: And finally, Billy Strings wears helmet on stage after being
- 27:38Speaker 1: hit by object. Billy Strings added an unexpected piece of
- 27:41Speaker 1: equipment to his stage outfit after being struck in the
- 27:44Speaker 1: head by an object thrown from the crowd during a
- 27:46Speaker 1: concert in Fisher's, Indiana. The incident happened on August sixth
- 27:50Speaker 1: at Fisher's Event Center, where the bluegrass musician was performing
- 27:54Speaker 1: the first of three rescheduled shows. Video from the concert
- 27:57Speaker 1: showed an object hitting Strings while he was speaking to
- 27:59Speaker 1: the audience. He immediately addressed the situation from the stage
- 28:03Speaker 1: and questioned why anyone would throw something at a performer.
- 28:07Speaker 1: When String's return for the second night on August seventh,
- 28:09Speaker 1: footage shared from the show showed him walking on stage
- 28:12Speaker 1: wearing protective headgear, making a lighthearted reference to the previous evening.
- 28:17Speaker 1: The Fisher's concerts had originally been scheduled for April. Strings
- 28:20Speaker 1: postponed those dates after breaking his leg in a backstage
- 28:23Speaker 1: skateboarding accident that required surgery. Throwing objects at performers has
- 28:28Speaker 1: become a recurring concert safety problem, with several musicians experiencing
- 28:32Speaker 1: similar incidents in recent years. Will This concludes the reading
- 28:37Speaker 1: of Country Weekly for this week. If you have any
