Speaker 3: We'll run through the holiday season downtown Charleston. But there's
• 2:58
Speaker 3: going to be two days of you know, I don't know,
• 3:01
Speaker 3: jingling all the way or whatever you want to call it,
• 3:03
Speaker 3: Friday and Saturday, Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday,
• 3:07
Speaker 3: if you will, then small business Saturday and Saturday. Kevin
• 3:10
Speaker 3: Madison is with the Downtown Charleston Association, and he joins, us,
• 3:13
Speaker 3: I think it's Kevin. We had this morning, Kevin, Good morning,
• 3:15
Speaker 3: walking to the show.
• 3:17
Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave. How you doing.
• 3:18
Speaker 3: I am doing fine, Thank you for being here. It's
• 3:21
Speaker 3: starting to get real now. I guess right.
• 3:24
Speaker 5: It is, man, it is. I'm out in the field
• 3:27
Speaker 5: right now, speek. So I hope I may have to
• 3:30
Speaker 5: answer a question here from someone else, but yeah, it's
• 3:34
  Speaker 5: going great.
• 3:35
Speaker 3: Well, I've got a graphic posted about what exactly is
• 3:38
Speaker 3: going on downtown on Brawdy Walkway this Friday and Saturday.
• 3:41
Speaker 3: Now you can see that graphic on Dave an and
• 3:43
Speaker 3: Radio at Facebook and at Dave seventy on X. But
• 3:46
Speaker 3: we're talking about live music, local art, the artwork, art walk,
• 3:51
Speaker 3: Santa Claus over one hundred and fifty decorated trees, a
• 3:54
Speaker 3: drone show. You guys talked about that the last time
• 3:57
Speaker 3: you were in studio, plus the official lighting of a
• 4:00
Speaker 3: Christmas tree. Now, in an effort Kevin, to try to
• 4:03
Speaker 3: make myself sound cool to the young kids, can we
• 4:06
  Speaker 3: say it's going.
• 4:06
Speaker 5: To be lit, It's going to be really lit. Yeah.
• 4:10
Speaker 3: I'm always about twenty years behind in my expression, so
• 4:13
Speaker 3: I just thought i'd throw that out there. So give
• 4:15
Speaker 3: us the overall about the excitement that's building. You said
• 4:18
Speaker 3: you're on site right now, I think doing some things
• 4:20
Speaker 3: down there, So give us some give us the overall field.
• 4:23
Speaker 5: Well, I'll tell you. I'll tell you what if anybody
• 4:25
Speaker 5: was downtown yesterday, like this place came alive and the
• 4:30
Speaker 5: buzz was amazing. You know, businesses and their friends, their families,
• 4:36
Speaker 5: they were all down here yesterday getting the elder trees decorated.
• 4:39
Speaker 5: I think we already have over half of them already complete.
• 4:43
Speaker 5: I mean, the park looks amazing, the light show. It
• 4:45
Speaker 5: has been said, we're putting up all the local artists,
• 4:49
Speaker 5: the art pieces. Today in Brawley Walkway, it was going
• 4:53
Speaker 5: really good. Mother Nature was definitely on our side yesterday.
• 4:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, and it looks like towards the end of the
• 4:58
Speaker 3: week though, coding to what all the meteorologist folks like
• 5:01
Speaker 3: Spencer Atkins and Brian Hughes or whatever whatever they tell
• 5:04
Speaker 3: us is that it's we could have some rain like
• 5:07
Speaker 3: midweek and as we head into Thanksgiving, but it's definitely
• 5:10
Speaker 3: going to be cold as we head into the weekend,
• 5:12
  Speaker 3: which I mean, it's a Christmas season.
• 5:14
Speaker 4: Man, it's supposed to be right, Yeah.
• 5:17
Speaker 5: It's supposed to be but I mean it is going
• 5:19
Speaker 5: to be cold. I mean, we got to remember the
• 5:20
Speaker 5: first year, the first year we did this, Dave, it
• 5:22
Speaker 5: was like nine degrees that night and it didn't stop
• 5:25
Speaker 5: anybody from coming. And you know, this is a rain
• 5:28
Speaker 5: or shine, warmer cold event, so you know, bundle up,
• 5:32
Speaker 5: but it's still going to happen. But it is supposed
• 5:36
Speaker 5: to be cold, you're right.
• 5:37
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 5:37
Speaker 3: Here, we're talking with Kevin Madison for the Downtown Charleston
• 5:40
Speaker 3: Association about Holly Jolly Brawley really getting under way later
• 5:44
Speaker 3: this week. So I guess after everybody gets their belly
• 5:46
Speaker 3: full of turkey and dressing and whatnot on Thursday and
• 5:49
Speaker 3: it's time to go to work after that.
• 5:51
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you can walk it off. We can look
• 5:53
Speaker 5: at all the trees we do. Yeah, we've got trees
• 5:56
Speaker 5: that we triangle. The trees are also of course down
• 5:59
Speaker 5: Brady Walkway and in City Center Park, but you want
• 6:02
Speaker 5: to remind people the event is actually in the park,
• 6:05
Speaker 5: Summer Street, Brawley Walkway, Capitol Street, Lee Triangle, Haile Street,
• 6:09
Speaker 5: so it encompasses the whole downtown area.
• 6:13
Speaker 3: Well again it's it's a very exciting thing for Charleston.
• 6:16
Speaker 3: And again we talked on the show the other day.
• 6:18
Speaker 3: I had the folks from the selangol a lot light
• 6:21
Speaker 3: the night on had Andy Sheha and Ben Slango on
• 6:24
Speaker 3: to talk about that. So, I mean, Charleston's kind of
• 6:27
Speaker 3: the place to be when it comes to when it
• 6:29
Speaker 3: comes to Christmas season.
• 6:31
Speaker 5: It definitely is. And you know, you bring up a
• 6:33
Speaker 5: good point. KRT has been an amazing partner again this
• 6:36
Speaker 5: year to offer the Holly Jolly Brawley Trolley, and that
• 6:40
Speaker 5: trolley is a free trolley that will take you from
• 6:45
Speaker 5: downtown either at on Leiley Street, at the KRT Center
• 6:49
Speaker 5: or at Lee Triangle, and that'll take you from Holly
• 6:52
Speaker 5: Jolly Brawley, it'll take you to the ballpark. It'll also
• 6:55
Speaker 5: make a stop at Capitol Market for their holiday season event.
• 6:59
Speaker 5: And again and that's a free service that's Thursday, Friday
• 7:02
Speaker 5: or sorry, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, every thirty minute.
• 7:06
Speaker 3: And Kevin, it takes a whole lot of people to
• 7:09
Speaker 3: pull off an event like this, a whole lot of volunteers.
• 7:11
Speaker 3: We mentioned the Downtown Charleston Association, but it does take
• 7:14
Speaker 3: a whole lot of people to make.
• 7:15
Speaker 5: This happen, it really does. I mean, we've got an
• 7:18
Speaker 5: awesome team of volunteers. We are so grateful for them.
• 7:22
Speaker 5: They've been out in the rain and the wind and
• 7:24
Speaker 5: the cold, you know, this past weekend. And yeah, and
• 7:28
  Speaker 5: I mean also, I mean we got a we can't
• 7:30
Speaker 5: we couldn't do this without our sponsors either. I mean
• 7:33
Speaker 5: we've got WV Meniston, Thomas Hospitals, Poker, Velly Bank, City
• 7:37
Speaker 5: National Bank, Bailey and Glasser, c AMC Vndelia Health, Hendrickson
• 7:42
Speaker 5: and Long West Virginia I Consultants, Capital Insurance. I mean,
• 7:46
Speaker 5: it goes on and on and on in definitely thank them.
• 7:50
Speaker 4: Yeah, because it's not possible with that.
• 7:51
Speaker 3: Then we're talking to Kevin Madison for the Downtown Charleston
• 7:54
Speaker 3: Association about Holly Jolly Bradley, but they've Onland Show and five.
• 7:56
Speaker 3: Any Live is brought to you part by Morgan and Morgan,
• 7:59
Speaker 3: America's largest injury law firm. And what I love about
• 8:02
Speaker 3: this is on a Friday show, I had Scott James
• 8:06
Speaker 3: on the Mayor of saying all button. He was talking
• 8:07
Speaker 3: about their Festival of Lights that they've got going on.
• 8:09
Speaker 3: And know, there's big things going on in Putnam County.
• 8:12
Speaker 3: If you're a Christmas person, or even if you're not,
• 8:15
Speaker 3: you're gonna be, you know, all up in it when
• 8:18
Speaker 3: it comes to Christmas stuff because it's everywhere in the Kenawh.
• 8:21
Speaker 5: Valley, that's right, and it just you know, just makes
• 8:24
Speaker 5: the region more awesome and a lot of things for
• 8:27
Speaker 5: people to enjoy. For sure.
• 8:28
Speaker 3: Let's before we let you go, because I know you're
• 8:30
Speaker 3: really busy, Let's talk about a small business Saturday in Charleston.
• 8:35
Speaker 3: This has been a national thing, you know, it's gone
• 8:37
Speaker 3: on for several years. A great time for people to
• 8:39
Speaker 3: remember those small businesses, whether they're a retail establishment, whether
• 8:42
Speaker 3: they're a restaurant or whatever. It's time to to to
• 8:46
Speaker 3: to just kind of, you know, patronize these folks.
• 8:50
Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely. I mean amaz the last time I checked
• 8:52
Speaker 5: Amazon and Walmart, we're sponsoring your kids football team. Yeah
• 8:56
Speaker 5: that these local restaurants and retailers definitely are. Yeah, but
• 9:00
Speaker 5: it's very important to support these guys during the holiday season,
• 9:03
  Speaker 5: for sure.
• 9:04
  Speaker 4: I agree.
• 9:05
Speaker 3: All right, So give us the view from the top
• 9:07
Speaker 3: again with the schedule and everything that's going to happen
• 9:09
  Speaker 3: after after Thanksgiving.
• 9:11
Speaker 4: Start with Friday, all right.
• 9:13
Speaker 5: So at noon we've got there'll be live DJs on
• 9:17
Speaker 5: Capitol Street and at City Center Park. We've got bands
• 9:21
Speaker 5: playing this weekend. We've got quiet, we've got the units there.
• 9:26
Speaker 5: The drone show kicks off at approximately six sixteen to
• 9:29
Speaker 5: six seventeen, best of you here at City Center Park.
• 9:33
Speaker 5: We went everybody downtown by Fox thirty to make sure
• 9:35
Speaker 5: they got a good parking spot in the garages, which,
• 9:37
Speaker 5: of course parking is free that day in all garages
• 9:40
Speaker 5: and meters and all that fun stuff. Tree lotting is
• 9:43
Speaker 5: approximately six point thirty. All of the inflatables and kids'
• 9:47
Speaker 5: activities will run till eight. The schedules are basically the
• 9:51
Speaker 5: same on Saturday, except the light show just starts at
• 9:54
Speaker 5: the six in place. Throughout the evening, the event wraps
• 9:57
Speaker 5: up at eight o'clock again, but live music EJ's on
• 10:00
Speaker 5: both places of course, Santa is going to be here
• 10:03
Speaker 5: Friday and Saturday as well in Lee Triangle for free
• 10:06
Speaker 5: photos with Santa. Yes, the event is free, and yeah,
• 10:10
Speaker 5: just make your way downtown. It's gonna be a great time.
• 10:12
  Speaker 4: All right, Kevin.
• 10:13
Speaker 3: I know you were really up against it on scheduling
• 10:16
Speaker 3: today and I appreciate you carving that little time to
• 10:18
Speaker 3: talk to us. Have yourself for great Thanksgiving, and we'll
• 10:20
Speaker 3: be talking several times throughout the Christmas season about Holly
• 10:23
  Speaker 3: Jolly Bradley.
• 10:23
Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, Thanks Dave, have a good one, Happy
• 10:26
Speaker 5: Thanksgiving to you as well.
• 10:27
Speaker 3: All right, Thank you Kevin Maddison again from the Downtown
• 10:29
Speaker 3: Charleston Association and again Holly Jolly Braley goes throughout the
• 10:33
  Speaker 3: Christmas season.
• 10:34
Speaker 4: But they're really really big. Well, one of the really.
• 10:36
Speaker 3: Big activities is the kickoff on Friday and Saturday, and
• 10:39
Speaker 3: I mean this thing is just huge. And you couple that,
• 10:43
Speaker 3: even though they're two totally separate things, you couple that
• 10:46
Speaker 3: with the Selango all Light and I had over at
• 10:47
Speaker 3: Gomar Ballpark and you definitely got a lot of excitement
• 10:50
Speaker 3: going on. And I keep going back to what's what
• 10:52
Speaker 3: December fifth in Downtown Charleston is gonna look like because
• 10:56
Speaker 3: you got the Christmas Parade, you got the Trans Siberian
• 10:59
Speaker 3: Orchestra show over the Coliseum and Convention Center, plus Holly
• 11:02
Speaker 3: Jolly Brawley, plus Light the Night. So it's definitely gonna
• 11:06
Speaker 3: be the place to be is downtown Charleston coming up
• 11:08
Speaker 3: on on on December fifth, but again this weekend. After
• 11:12
Speaker 3: you spend the time with the family to do all
• 11:13
Speaker 3: the stuff that you're supposed to do, then get ready
• 11:16
Speaker 3: because it's the Christmas season is definitely here in downtown Charles.
• 11:21
Speaker 3: I'm gonna spare you from me breaking into it's beginning
• 11:23
Speaker 3: to look a lot like Christmas, because ain't nobody, ain't
• 11:25
Speaker 3: nobody want to hear that Bigley Pickli Wiggly Hotline three

• 11:55
Speaker 3: Republican strategist Greg Thomas is going to be stopping by.
• 11:58
Speaker 3: It gonna be interesting to talk to Greg about the
• 12:02
Speaker 3: Republican whitewatch that was election, not only here in West
• 12:05
Speaker 3: Virginia but around the country. Plus I want to talk
• 12:08
Speaker 3: to him a little bit about some of the Trump
• 12:11
Speaker 3: picks for his cabinets. And there's actually an article out
• 12:16
Speaker 3: about that from The Hill that there's been a lot
• 12:19
Speaker 3: of noise made about the Trump picks for the cabinet,
• 12:21
Speaker 3: but apparently, according to a recent poll not done by
• 12:25
Speaker 3: The Hill but done by CBS News, the majority Americans
• 12:28
  Speaker 3: are liking it.
• 12:29

• 15:56
Speaker 3: I have to ask this because I have been asking
• 15:59
Speaker 3: almost every guest on the show over the last two
• 16:02
Speaker 3: weeks or so, because Thanksgiving is my top holiday, It's
• 16:06
Speaker 3: my number one, my most favorite holiday. What is your

Speaker 3: favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal?
• 16:12
Speaker 8: Oh, that would be easy. That would be.
• 16:15
Speaker 3: Eggs, the stuffing and the deviled eggs, Lady after my

• 16:19
Speaker 4: Yes, and oh I love it.
• 16:21
Speaker 3: My my wife makes these deviled eggs that are serracha

• 16:28
Speaker 3: all about I'm all about the sarracha.
• 16:30
Speaker 8: You like your women and your eggspike.
• 16:34
Speaker 4: We'll be leieve that. I'll leave that a load.
• 16:37
Speaker 3: So we've been talking on the show, Delegate about school
• 16:39
Speaker 3: consolidation here in Kanah County, primarily some of the Saint
• 16:43
Speaker 3: Auban's area. The majority of those that have been talked
• 16:45
Speaker 3: about have been in the eastern Knah County area. And
• 16:47
Speaker 3: it's something that I wanted to bring you on the
• 16:49
Speaker 3: show about because you know, you represent Nicholas County in
• 16:53
Speaker 3: the legislature. There's a lot of parallels though in the
• 16:56
Speaker 3: school consolidation talk in Kanah County, Nicholas County, in really
• 17:00
Speaker 3: all over the soid West.
• 17:01
Speaker 8: Virginia there are and I really think to understand where
• 17:04
Speaker 8: we are in Nicholas County, we have to understand where
• 17:07
Speaker 8: we've been after the twenty sixteen flood. The sitting superintendent
• 17:11
Speaker 8: at that time, as well as the sitting Board of Education,
• 17:14
Speaker 8: which both of those positions, but all of those, all
• 17:17
Speaker 8: the board seats that one have flipped, and then also
• 17:20
Speaker 8: we have a new superintendent. Originally, it was proposed that
• 17:24
Speaker 8: we were going to consolidate our middle and high schools
• 17:26
Speaker 8: here because we had three of the four secondary schools
• 17:28
Speaker 8: damage and integrate our career and technical education program into
• 17:33
Speaker 8: the middle and high schools in a centralized location in
• 17:36
Speaker 8: Nicholas County in the center to try to make all
• 17:38
Speaker 8: of the transit times for the outlying students in middle
• 17:41
Speaker 8: and high school pretty well, pretty well equal. That plan
• 17:46
Speaker 8: was met with a lot of resistance from a lot
• 17:48
Speaker 8: of political sources, including the governor's office and some other places,
• 17:52
Speaker 8: and unfortunately what has happened is our board has slipped,
• 17:56
Speaker 8: our superintendent has slipped and now we're proposing to put
• 17:59
Speaker 8: four elementary schools into one elementary school, and so the
• 18:03
Speaker 8: total enrollment of that would be a five hundred and
• 18:05
Speaker 8: seventy four students being put into a building that was
• 18:08
Speaker 8: built in nineteen fifty two. It already has a lot
• 18:12
Speaker 8: of existing environmental and structural problems as far as roofing,
• 18:16
Speaker 8: sewage ventilation, those sorts of things. It would also LinkedIn
• 18:21
Speaker 8: the bus rides for the students in Birch River as
• 18:23
Speaker 8: well as Zila bringing them, bringing some of those students
• 18:26
Speaker 8: from Zela from the far reaches of county down thirty
• 18:29
Speaker 8: nine over Little Elk Mountain and bringing those young pre
• 18:32
Speaker 8: K students in kindergarten students up from Birch River up
• 18:35
Speaker 8: over Palace Mountain. So very concerning Nicholas County, I think
• 18:41
Speaker 8: we have gotten that Byckwards. I think the original consolidation
• 18:44
Speaker 8: of the middle in high school made much more sense
• 18:46
Speaker 8: than the proposal for these elementary schools.
• 18:49
Speaker 3: Again, we're talking to it a delegate to Heather Glasgow
• 18:51
Speaker 3: Tully and she reached out to me last week and
• 18:53
Speaker 3: again this is Nicholas County, but I want to talk
• 18:57
Speaker 3: a little bit about this situation state. Why because again, Delegate,
• 19:01
Speaker 3: and obviously you know, you serve on the legislature, so.
• 19:03
Speaker 4: You're in Charleston a whole lot. You follow the news here,
• 19:06
Speaker 4: and you got ties to Canaw County.
• 19:07
  Speaker 5: Right, I do.
• 19:09
Speaker 8: And actually I was a student at McKinley Junior High
• 19:12
Speaker 8: School many many years ago. I grew up in pant Alpins.
• 19:14
Speaker 8: I graduated from Sant Albans High School, so I understand.
• 19:17
Speaker 8: I can remember when St. Albans Junior High School was closed,
• 19:19
Speaker 8: which was just a few miles down the road from
• 19:21
Speaker 8: McKinley and a few miles up the road from Hayes.
• 19:24
Speaker 3: So and that's the reason I wanted to talk to you,
• 19:26
Speaker 3: because when we've had these and there's been public and
• 19:28
Speaker 3: I'm going to presume Delegate, that the same thing happened
• 19:31
Speaker 3: in Nicholas County that did in Kanawa County. There were
• 19:33
Speaker 3: a series of meetings that were held, public meetings, and
• 19:36
Speaker 3: not only the Saint Albans area, but also in those
• 19:39
Speaker 3: that are affected on the upper end of the county
• 19:41
Speaker 3: as we call it, you know, areas like Bell and
• 19:44
Speaker 3: all those, and you know, the public meetings were held,
• 19:47
Speaker 3: and you know, hats off to the Board of Education
• 19:49
Speaker 3: because because they held those meetings, but in the end
• 19:52
Speaker 3: they went with the original plans, which was to and
• 19:56
Speaker 3: I think, and I could be wrong about this, I
• 19:58
Speaker 3: think in the votes that they had, I think only
• 20:01
Speaker 3: one of the of the votes had had a the center,
• 20:06
Speaker 3: so to speak. I think most of them went unanimous.
• 20:09
Speaker 3: It's not an easy decision when you are part of
• 20:13
Speaker 3: a board of education when you're you know, everybody's weighing
• 20:16
Speaker 3: in on these things. And I think you would probably
• 20:18
Speaker 3: appreciate that, Delegate, absolutely.
• 20:20
Speaker 8: I've never seen more miserable hearings than what the preceding
• 20:23
Speaker 8: Board of Education and superintendent went through here in Nicholas
• 20:26
Speaker 8: County when they proposed the consolidation in the middle of
• 20:29
Speaker 8: the high spitals after the floods. Those hearings were very
• 20:32
Speaker 8: rough on those people, not only professionally but personally got
• 20:36
Speaker 8: very nasty, which was very disappointing to see. Like I said,
• 20:41
Speaker 8: a lot of political pressure, so it was It's been
• 20:43
Speaker 8: a very stressful situation here in Nicholas County with that
• 20:47
Speaker 8: type of thing going on into just to see the
• 20:49
Speaker 8: county essentially divided. We had a lot of alumni who
• 20:53
Speaker 8: no longer reside in this area and are not tax
• 20:56
Speaker 8: payers that opened on that and I think their allows
• 20:59
Speaker 8: angry war. This has got listened to more so than
• 21:01
Speaker 8: some of the tax payers in that situation, and that's
• 21:03
  Speaker 8: very unfortunate.
• 21:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, it is, it is, And again they're put in
• 21:06
Speaker 3: a very bad position because I think you certainly again
• 21:09
Speaker 3: we're talking to delegate to head of Glasgow Tully, somebody
• 21:12
Speaker 3: who's served in the legislature for some time. I think
• 21:14
Speaker 3: that you can also appreciate the economic aspect of these
• 21:18
Speaker 3: some of these schools, and I'm sure it's the same
• 21:19
Speaker 3: in Nicholas County and it is in other counties as
• 21:21
Speaker 3: it was in Kanawa. Delegate, some of these schools, it's
• 21:23
Speaker 3: just not economically feasible to keep some of these schools
• 21:27
Speaker 3: open because of the cost of maintaining these older buildings.
• 21:31
Speaker 8: And I understand that, and I think to say that
• 21:34
Speaker 8: there should never be another consolidation, I think that that
• 21:36
Speaker 8: is probably far fetched and not probably the most failnd thinking. However,
• 21:41
Speaker 8: I think really probably our example in Nicholas County really
• 21:44
Speaker 8: illustrates the example of why we need to make sure
• 21:47
Speaker 8: that we are doing it the right way. I think
• 21:49
Speaker 8: middle and high school if you look at the educational
• 21:52
Speaker 8: research data on the building of literacy and numeracy skills
• 21:57
Speaker 8: that does occur usually in your first, second, and third grade,
• 22:00
Speaker 8: and those elementary school students benefit more readily from having
• 22:04
Speaker 8: smaller classrooms and smaller schools to be able to build
• 22:07
Speaker 8: those literacy and numeracy skills. By contrast, when you start
• 22:11
Speaker 8: to expand educational offerings for your middle and high school,
• 22:14
Speaker 8: you are opening up the world to them. So I
• 22:16
Speaker 8: think it's really we should be probably a cautionary tale
• 22:19
Speaker 8: of how things should be done. And I really feel
• 22:22
Speaker 8: as though if we can preserve the elementary schools, that
• 22:25
Speaker 8: is what we should be doing to maintain those smaller
• 22:27
Speaker 8: class sizes and build those foundational skills in literacy and numeracy.
• 22:31
Speaker 8: I think the legislature recognizes that we passed the folk
• 22:34
Speaker 8: grade success I like to add extra aids in those
• 22:37
Speaker 8: lower elementary school classrooms with enrollments I believe it was
• 22:40
Speaker 8: fourteen or sixteen or greater. If you had that number
• 22:42
Speaker 8: of student, you were going to get an extra aid
• 22:44
Speaker 8: to help with those classrooms building those classroom skills because
• 22:47
Speaker 8: some of the test scores were so low. And so
• 22:50
Speaker 8: I really think that we as the legislature recognize that.
• 22:53
Speaker 8: I think that we've seen some failings boards of education.
• 22:56
Speaker 8: I think when you start to add four elementary schools
• 22:59
Speaker 8: into one and to cram them into a building built
• 23:01
Speaker 8: in nineteen fifty two, like they're proposing here in Nicholas County,
• 23:04
Speaker 8: it does not show sound thinking.
• 23:06
Speaker 3: Talking again with Delegate Heather at Glasgow Talley of the
• 23:08
Speaker 3: day Island showing five any line brought to you a
• 23:10
Speaker 3: part by Meek's realtor group. Rich the realtor always happened
• 23:12
Speaker 3: to take your call. He's still talking about this home
• 23:15
Speaker 3: in Scott deepo seventy five point Zetia drive, fifty six
• 23:18
Speaker 3: hundred square feet, six bedrooms, two laundry rooms, full house
• 23:22
Speaker 3: generator to make sure the power always stays on. Called
• 23:25
Speaker 3: of texts, Rich the Realtor three zero four nine three
• 23:27
Speaker 3: two seventy four eighty eight. Let him tell you more
• 23:29
Speaker 3: about this wonderful property. All right, So you talked about
• 23:32
Speaker 3: the legislature. So is there anything that the legislature can
• 23:37
Speaker 3: do in this situation or should they?
• 23:40
Speaker 8: Technically we do not have control over the decisions that
• 23:43
Speaker 8: are made by the state Board of Education. I think
• 23:45
Speaker 8: we saw the amendment that was constitutional amendments that was
• 23:48
Speaker 8: proposed several years ago that went down with some of
• 23:51
Speaker 8: the up the other four men, all four ofmen. That's
• 23:53
Speaker 8: went down during during a essentially a public refferend the
• 23:58
Speaker 8: Mori boat on the ballot. So we really have no control,
• 24:01
Speaker 8: but we also like to say that we don't have control,
• 24:03
Speaker 8: but we will dab There are certain people that will dabble.
• 24:06
Speaker 8: Some bills in there here and there that pertain to consolidations.
• 24:09
Speaker 8: You saw one come from the Senate that talks about
• 24:12
Speaker 8: an economic impact statement, and I really don't feel as
• 24:15
Speaker 8: that as though that bill added a lot to what
• 24:18
Speaker 8: was already proposed with the Comprehensive Educational Facilities Plan amendments
• 24:22
Speaker 8: that were being put forth. So I really don't know
• 24:24
Speaker 8: that I feel that it did anything that that bill passed,
• 24:26
Speaker 8: and people pass themselves on the bike and feel good
• 24:28
Speaker 8: about it because they feel like they did something but
• 24:30
Speaker 8: really doesn't make an impact. I don't know that we
• 24:34
Speaker 8: really have a lot of control, but I do think
• 24:36
Speaker 8: that he does have control. Are the parents that have
• 24:39
Speaker 8: students that attend these schools. I want you to keep
• 24:41
Speaker 8: in mind, you know, we're still in pod here in
• 24:44
Speaker 8: Nicholas County from the flood. Our middle school, including my
• 24:47
Speaker 8: two grandchildren, the oldest of which was starting kindergartens when
• 24:51
Speaker 8: we started this process. She's in a pod carrying every
• 24:55
Speaker 8: book and every item that she takes the school daily
• 24:58
Speaker 8: on her bike in a backpack, no lockers. The same
• 25:01
Speaker 8: thing for Richwood Middle and Richwood High School.
• 25:05
  Speaker 3: It's uh yeah, I mean, it's it's really sad that
• 25:09
Speaker 3: that situation continues because most people think, well, you know
• 25:12
Speaker 3: that the flood was in twenty sixteen and we moved
• 25:14
Speaker 3: on from that. But as somebody who spent some time
• 25:16
Speaker 3: in Nicholas County, I can tell you you're you're still
• 25:20
  Speaker 3: living with it.
• 25:20
Speaker 8: Elegant, We're still living with it. And you know, the
• 25:24
Speaker 8: saddest part about this is our Board of Education. Initially
• 25:26
Speaker 8: when the flood happened, and with the city members that
• 25:28
Speaker 8: we had, we had our students. We did better than
• 25:31
Speaker 8: Kanall County. We had our students in school full days,
• 25:35
Speaker 8: not like Herbert Hoover who were alternating half days for
• 25:38
Speaker 8: the middle and half days for the high school. We
• 25:39
Speaker 8: had our students in school full days. And we were
• 25:41
Speaker 8: the one of the ones that had started, you know,
• 25:44
Speaker 8: to make plans to do our consolidation for our middle
• 25:46
Speaker 8: high school and our career and Technical center. And had
• 25:49
Speaker 8: it not been for political interference, we should have been
• 25:51
Speaker 8: the first one done. But we're technical was the last
• 25:53
Speaker 8: one done. And that's that's a travesty for these students, Dave.
• 25:56
Speaker 3: But Dave Alan showing five any line brought to you
• 25:58
Speaker 3: apart by Husband's Pizza. This month, you favorite Hustans get
• 26:00
Speaker 3: a large at Nache Pepperoni pizza and a pizza Dia
• 26:03
Speaker 3: only twenty one ninety nine. We'll get back to the
• 26:05
Speaker 3: consolidation of the moment, Delegate, but I want to ask
• 26:07
Speaker 3: you to look ahead and we'll switch gears here for
• 26:09
Speaker 3: a little bit. Just look ahead to the session. It's
• 26:12
Speaker 3: going to be a little bit different this year, and
• 26:14
Speaker 3: actually started a little bit later because of this is
• 26:17
Speaker 3: the year. You know, every four years when we put
• 26:19
Speaker 3: a new governor in office, it starts a little bit later.
• 26:21
Speaker 3: What are you looking forward to in the upcoming session.
• 26:24
Speaker 8: Well, I'm not back this year, Dave, so I'll try you. Hell,
• 26:27
Speaker 8: it'll be a new Vice Chair of House Health, So
• 26:30
Speaker 8: I'm looking forward to kind of watching seats to see
• 26:32
Speaker 8: what some of my colleagues do. I'm looking forward myself
• 26:34
Speaker 8: personally to continuing patient care and seeing patients as I
• 26:37
Speaker 8: always do as a nurse practitioner, providing health care in
• 26:39
Speaker 8: my community. And it will be interesting to see because
• 26:42
Speaker 8: there have been a lot of positions that have shifted
• 26:45
Speaker 8: and changed around. There's a lot of things that I
• 26:48
Speaker 8: personally will miss and some things I will want. I
• 26:50
  Speaker 8: would be perfectly.
• 26:51
Speaker 3: Honest, I completely forgot about that, Delegate, and I apologize
• 26:53
Speaker 3: for that that I forgot. I forgot the y're not
• 26:56
Speaker 3: back in this year, reflect on your time in the late.
• 27:01
Speaker 8: One of the things you know, as most people know
• 27:04
  Speaker 8: that I am a nurse and I'm a nurse practitioner.
• 27:06
Speaker 8: So one of the proudest things I think that I've
• 27:07
Speaker 8: gotten accomplished is some of the caffing committees for nurses
• 27:11
Speaker 8: that are composed of fifty one percent nurses that actually
• 27:13
Speaker 8: touch patients. I hope that those will move forward and
• 27:16
Speaker 8: help make our nursing, our nursing, and our health care
• 27:20
Speaker 8: better because you are allowing nurses that have a voice
• 27:24
Speaker 8: and that actually do patient care to have a voice
• 27:26
Speaker 8: in their units. So that's been one of my proudest accomplishments.
• 27:29
Speaker 8: We work diligently on the foot of the d HHR
• 27:33
Speaker 8: now d ohs. So it will be interesting to see
• 27:36
Speaker 8: how that takes shape. Be interesting to see what the
• 27:40
Speaker 8: new governor does with those cabinet positions. As far as
• 27:44
Speaker 8: who is once you head some of those agencies. I
• 27:46
Speaker 8: would love to be involved in some of that and
• 27:48
Speaker 8: some some facet even if it's just consulting, because I
• 27:52
Speaker 8: do know the landscape fairly well. I'll miss a lot
• 27:55
Speaker 8: of the Education Committee things because I do sit on
• 27:57
Speaker 8: education as well. So I've been very greatly involved in
• 28:00
Speaker 8: education really because of my grandchildren here in Nicholas County,
• 28:05
Speaker 8: even prior to being elected. So those are some of
• 28:07
Speaker 8: the things I'm going to miss, So it'll be interesting
• 28:09
Speaker 8: to see what transpires there as well.
• 28:11
Speaker 4: So what are you not going to miss?
• 28:15
Speaker 8: Sometimes things get pretty heated and you really feel like
• 28:19
Speaker 8: your friends kind of you kind of end up I
• 28:21
Speaker 8: wouldn't say turning on each other, but you end up
• 28:23
Speaker 8: in opposition to people that you hold very dear, and
• 28:26
Speaker 8: sometimes that gets a little stressful. I'm not going to
• 28:29
Speaker 8: miss being away from my family. That's one of the
• 28:32
Speaker 8: things I was looking forward to spending a little bit

Speaker 4: This your favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal.
• 33:35
Speaker 10: I like turkey. I mean, I actually like turkey, but
• 33:37
Speaker 10: I like the dressing.
• 33:39
Speaker 3: A dressing so overrated. I'm underrated and underrated. I'm sorry,
• 33:42
Speaker 3: it's my favorite part.
• 33:43
Speaker 10: Yeah, it's my favorite part of dressing. You know, my
• 33:48
Speaker 10: mom always makes like this, like noodles. I like the
• 33:50
Speaker 10: noodles and she when I'm up there, which we won't
• 33:54
Speaker 10: be this year. But yeah, I like. I don't know,
• 33:57
Speaker 10: I like most of it, though I'm not a well
• 33:59
Speaker 10: as you can tell, I'm not an overly picky.
• 34:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, just U just fill the plate. I just need
• 34:04
Speaker 3: some I need some extra reinforcement on the plate. The
• 34:07
Speaker 3: first time we've had you on since the election. Now,
• 34:09
Speaker 3: this is like the the five thousand foot or whatever
• 34:12
Speaker 3: they say about this view overall your thoughts on the election,
• 34:16
  Speaker 3: we'll get specifics.
• 34:17
Speaker 10: Yeah, I really I thought Trump would win. I did
• 34:20
Speaker 10: not know that he would win as big as he
• 34:23
Speaker 10: had as he did. You know, sometimes when you're like
• 34:27
Speaker 10: in West Virginia and you know the echo chamber that
• 34:30
Speaker 10: we have here. You think, oh, you know, everybody loves Trump, right,
• 34:34
Speaker 10: because I mean Trump does as well here as he
• 34:36
Speaker 10: does anywhere in the country, if not more so. Yeah. Yeah,
• 34:40
Speaker 10: and and but I was I was just at a
• 34:42
Speaker 10: conference last week before last down in Florida with the
• 34:46
Speaker 10: you know, a sort of business group that I'm part of,
• 34:51
Speaker 10: and uh, it was just amazing to see how many
• 34:53
Speaker 10: people from other parts of the country were so pro Trump.
• 34:57
Speaker 10: I mean, I think that in the these are people
• 35:00
Speaker 10: that weren't pro Trump last time around. And so I
• 35:03
Speaker 10: think some of this. Of course, I have a you know,
• 35:07
Speaker 10: an old friend that I've done a lot of work
• 35:09
Speaker 10: for that used to always say, it's not that you're
• 35:11
Speaker 10: that good, it's that everyone else is so bad. And
• 35:14
Speaker 10: I think that's a little bit of what's going on here.
• 35:17
  Speaker 10: I mean, I do, I do think I like I
• 35:19
Speaker 10: like Trump. I think a lot of people here like Trump.
• 35:22
Speaker 10: I think that just the Democrats were so bad, right,
• 35:24
Speaker 10: I mean, it's it's one thing to say, Okay, you know,
• 35:28
Speaker 10: I'm we're gonna come and do this big government and
• 35:30
Speaker 10: we're going to tell you how to live, and we're
• 35:32
Speaker 10: going to shove the transgender and the boys and girls
• 35:35
Speaker 10: sports stuff down your throat. But then to also accompany
• 35:39
Speaker 10: that with the fact that people can't afford their groceries,
• 35:42
Speaker 10: you know, and the interest rates are so high, and
• 35:45
Speaker 10: the in the economy is just not working for average people.
• 35:51
Speaker 10: That combo is just too much, and and I think
• 35:53
Speaker 10: that's why you sit. I think that's why the results
• 35:56
Speaker 10: of the election were what they were, was just the
• 36:00
Speaker 10: Democrats really really really messed up. And so you know,
• 36:05
  Speaker 10: I'm excited for it. I mean, I think a lot
• 36:07
Speaker 10: of these big ticket items and these big government reform
• 36:11
Speaker 10: things that the Trump administration has been talking about and
• 36:14
Speaker 10: you're seeing out there, I'm super excited about it.
• 36:18
Speaker 3: Talking again with Greg Thomas, and you know, Greg, I
• 36:22
Speaker 3: watch a lot of and I read a lot about
• 36:24
Speaker 3: the different pundits what they weigh in, and I've been
• 36:26
Speaker 3: really interested in following more what the Democrats have to
• 36:29
Speaker 3: say of some of the people that do similar work
• 36:32
Speaker 3: to you, but on the national level for Democrats. Matter
• 36:35
Speaker 3: of fact, I saw one of them yesterday on one
• 36:37
Speaker 3: of the I think it was on the Hill with
• 36:40
Speaker 3: with with Stywalk yesterday, and he basically just said what
• 36:44
Speaker 3: some others have said is that the Democratic Party forgot
• 36:49
Speaker 3: their roots, so to speak, and they have left the
• 36:52
Speaker 3: working people behind. Now that's a Democratic strategist who said that,
• 36:57
Speaker 3: and so many others have said that as well on
• 36:59
Speaker 3: the day Democrat side. So there's got to be something
• 37:01
  Speaker 3: to that.
• 37:02
Speaker 10: They've really got to take a close look at how
• 37:04
Speaker 10: they form this coalition. I mean, I think they really
• 37:07
Speaker 10: were banking on illegal immigrants coming and voting right. I mean,
• 37:11
Speaker 10: I think they just looked at it and said, Okay,
• 37:13
Speaker 10: you know, we're just going to hope that you know,
• 37:16
Speaker 10: minorities stick with this. We're going to have to bring
• 37:18
Speaker 10: in more of them. You know, we have a handful.
• 37:22
Speaker 10: You know, obviously we're funded by the elites and the
• 37:25
Speaker 10: labor unions and the trial lawyers. Like, we'll have the money,
• 37:29
Speaker 10: but how do we get the people? And it was like,
• 37:30
Speaker 10: we'll just bring them in, and they just couldn't bring
• 37:34
Speaker 10: them in and get them legally or get them voting
• 37:37
Speaker 10: quick enough to sort of make the difference up here.
• 37:41
Speaker 10: And now with Trump coming in and a lot of
• 37:42
Speaker 10: those you know, the you know, obviously there's a lot
• 37:45
Speaker 10: of talk about deportation. But even before we get that,
• 37:48
Speaker 10: I mean, you know, just those The reason that so
• 37:52
Speaker 10: many of these people come in from out of the
• 37:53
Speaker 10: country is that they're just promised the world. Right, It's like, hey,
• 37:56
Speaker 10: we're going to put you up in a hotel, and
• 37:57
Speaker 10: here's money and here's stuff. If you stop those programs,
• 38:02
Speaker 10: those people will quit compon, right, and a lot of
• 38:04
Speaker 10: those people will go back home if you're just not
• 38:06
Speaker 10: going to give him free money. And so I think
• 38:09
Speaker 10: a lot of those folks will lead. But I but
• 38:11
Speaker 10: I agree with you. You know, the Democrats really are
• 38:13
Speaker 10: going to have to look at this and say, hey,
• 38:15
Speaker 10: you know, we can't just give up everybody that has
• 38:18
Speaker 10: a job or everybody that has a job and goes
• 38:21
  Speaker 10: to work.
• 38:21
Speaker 3: It was interesting to me to see that where Trump
• 38:24
Speaker 3: actually gained, and it was in Hispanics.
• 38:28
Speaker 4: It was it was some of the people.
• 38:30
Speaker 3: I mean, face it, if Trump doesn't pick up new voters,
• 38:33
Speaker 3: he doesn't win this time. He could not win this election.
• 38:37
Speaker 3: I mean West Virginia's obviously going to carry, but to
• 38:39
Speaker 3: these other areas if he does not pick up new
• 38:41
Speaker 3: voters that maybe either set out in twenty twenty or
• 38:45
Speaker 3: didn't support him in twenty twenty, maybe they maybe they
• 38:48
Speaker 3: went Biden, or maybe they didn't vote at all.
• 38:49
Speaker 4: Who knows. He doesn't pick up new people, he doesn't win, Greg.
• 38:52
Speaker 10: Well, and I think inflation's the thing that was killing
• 38:54
Speaker 10: those folks, right, I mean, that's you know, those working
• 38:57
Speaker 10: class people that just were having trouble meeting the mortgage,
• 39:01
Speaker 10: We're having trouble with the car payment, We're having trouble.
• 39:03
Speaker 10: Where they looked back and said, hey, gosh, you know
• 39:06
Speaker 10: things were just going better for me when Trump was president, right.
• 39:09
Speaker 10: I mean, even if they had, even if they were
• 39:11
Speaker 10: had not voted for him in sixteen, their lives more
• 39:15
Speaker 10: than likely were better in nineteen before pre COVID, right,
• 39:18
Speaker 10: and then COVID obviously, you know, turned that whole thing
• 39:21
Speaker 10: upside down. But look, I think Trump is going to
• 39:25
Speaker 10: be a better president this time than what he would
• 39:28
Speaker 10: have been after the twenty election.
• 39:31
Speaker 4: Well, he's got well here's the thing about it, Greg, He's.
• 39:33
Speaker 3: Got a lot more people to work with now he's
• 39:35
Speaker 3: going to have, you know, the other branches of government involved.
• 39:39
Speaker 3: So a lot of these promises that Trump made in
• 39:41
Speaker 3: twenty sixteen, and some Trump supporters said, well, he couldn't
• 39:44
Speaker 3: get it done because of this or I mean I'm
• 39:46
Speaker 3: not saying God forbid if we have another COVID again,
• 39:49
  Speaker 3: because but I'm.
• 39:50
Speaker 4: Just saying he's he didn't have any excuses this time.
• 39:53
Speaker 3: He's got it and so he's got to get it done.
• 39:57
Speaker 10: And I think he learned from some of his mistakes.
• 40:00
Speaker 10: I mean, he trusted people like McConnell last time that
• 40:02
Speaker 10: helped him, you know, fill the government, and those were
• 40:05
Speaker 10: the people that turned around and stabbed him in the back.
• 40:08
Speaker 10: You know, he knows he has to do something about
• 40:10
Speaker 10: this deep state, the FBI, the dj the CIA, all
• 40:13
Speaker 10: the three letter stuff, the alphabet agency stuff. He's got
• 40:17
Speaker 10: to go and get that stuff cleared up. But he's
• 40:19
Speaker 10: got this coalition together right too, of like different people
• 40:23
Speaker 10: that it's not just all, hey, I'm going to get
• 40:25
Speaker 10: there on this message or reform and then when I
• 40:28
Speaker 10: get there, seventy five percent of my staff is just
• 40:31
Speaker 10: going to be the same people that were there.
• 40:32
  Speaker 6: Right.
• 40:33
Speaker 10: He's not doing that again this time. And you can
• 40:34
Speaker 10: see it, right. I Mean, he's bringing in people that
• 40:37
Speaker 10: are not just your traditional Republicans to head a lot
• 40:40
Speaker 10: of these agencies and be in his cabinet. And you know,
• 40:45
Speaker 10: to me, that's that's why people are so excited right now,
• 40:48
Speaker 10: is because it really does feel different, right It feels
• 40:52
Speaker 10: like he's going to make different decisions than what he
• 40:55
Speaker 10: did the first time. And you know, we all knew
• 40:59
Speaker 10: we need reform. I mean thisment federal government spending is
• 41:02
Speaker 10: out of control. You know, the foreign involvement in foreign
• 41:06
Speaker 10: wars is outrageous. You know, inflations out of control, interest
• 41:11
Speaker 10: rates are high. I mean, you know that the Democrats
• 41:14
Speaker 10: just made so many mistakes that are hurting working class people.
• 41:18
Speaker 10: You know, I think Trump's got you know, an easy
• 41:23
Speaker 10: ten to twenty five wins that he can do over
• 41:26
Speaker 10: the next you know, from January twentieth to June first.
• 41:29
  Speaker 10: I mean, I just think he's going to be I
• 41:31
Speaker 10: think it's just going to be win after win after
• 41:32
Speaker 10: when you know what, you know, what happens after that
• 41:36
Speaker 10: will be determined. But you know, there's just a lot
• 41:38
Speaker 10: of low hanging fruit for him to come in and
• 41:41
Speaker 10: you know, do a lot of good in a short
• 41:42
  Speaker 10: amount of time.

Speaker 3: I have alatest episodes wv Metronews dot com, the podcast
• 42:04
Speaker 3: menu and start your journey towards better health Today, Greg,
• 42:07
Speaker 3: I want to get your take on this. There was
• 42:08
Speaker 3: an article that came out recently in the Hill that
• 42:12
Speaker 3: the majority of voters say they approve of President elect
• 42:17
Speaker 3: Trump's handling of the presidential transition so far. Now, this
• 42:21
Speaker 3: poll was done by CBS News and it was released yesterday.
• 42:25
Speaker 3: The Hill first reported not it. It's just fifty nine
• 42:27
Speaker 3: percent say that they approved so far the way Trump
• 42:31
Speaker 3: is handling the transition.
• 42:32
Speaker 10: And look, I think that goes back to that coalition
• 42:35
Speaker 10: I just mentioned. I mean, he's bringing in different kinds
• 42:39
Speaker 10: of people, right, So you know you've got that Republican base, right,
• 42:42
Speaker 10: You've got that like Maga Trump base. You know you've
• 42:45
Speaker 10: got those folks. But he's brought in these new people
• 42:49
Speaker 10: and in different kinds of people than a Republican president
• 42:52
Speaker 10: would typically have in some of these positions. And so
• 42:54
Speaker 10: I think you're just you're getting you know, the Republicans
• 42:57
Speaker 10: are excited your base, Republicans are excited because a republic
• 43:01
Speaker 10: because the Democrats are no longer in control. But then
• 43:03
Speaker 10: you've got some of these independents and some of these
• 43:06
Speaker 10: like libertarian folks and other people that all of a
• 43:08
Speaker 10: sudden are like, oh, hey, they're talking about things that
• 43:11
Speaker 10: even it may not be my person in there, but
• 43:14
Speaker 10: they're talking about issues that I care about. Right, We've
• 43:16
Speaker 10: brought a bunch of new issues to the table. Trump
• 43:20
Speaker 10: has brought a bunch of new issues to the table,
• 43:24
Speaker 10: you know, with related to healthcare and with related to
• 43:27
Speaker 10: you know, the Department of Justice and uh, you know
• 43:31
Speaker 10: Internet freedom and you know Elon Musk and government reform it.
• 43:36
Speaker 10: You know that that what is it, the do dog whatever,
• 43:39
Speaker 10: you know, Department of Government Efficiency. Like, people know we
• 43:42
Speaker 10: have to do that stuff because they know it was
• 43:43
Speaker 10: out of control. You know, they know it was out
• 43:45
Speaker 10: of control. So I think that's exactly why. And Trump
• 43:49
Speaker 10: is being so much more disciplined than he was, right,
• 43:53
Speaker 10: I mean, we we talked about this during the campaign
• 43:55
Speaker 10: of like oh, how do we think he's going to do?
• 43:57
Speaker 10: And you know, look, there were a few places he
• 44:00
Speaker 10: would get off, you know, go down his typical rabbit
• 44:03
Speaker 10: hole and do his thing. But he is a much
• 44:05
Speaker 10: more He was a much more disciplined candidate during this campaign,
• 44:10
Speaker 10: which I think contributed to the to the size of
• 44:12
Speaker 10: the victory. But I think he's been I just think
• 44:16
Speaker 10: it looks like it's going to be a much more
• 44:18
Speaker 10: disciplined presidency of him looking at it and saying, hey,
• 44:22
Speaker 10: I've got four years. I've got to get this stuff done.
• 44:25
Speaker 10: You know, we've got the Senate, we've got the House,
• 44:27
Speaker 10: We've got the people with us. I've got a fifty
• 44:28
Speaker 10: nine percent approval rating. Let's get to work right And
• 44:32
Speaker 10: from what I can tell and what I think fifty
• 44:34
Speaker 10: nine percent of the rest of America can tell, looks
• 44:36
Speaker 10: like he's doing that.
• 44:37
Speaker 3: Texas, Trump got a little more than two million more
• 44:40
Speaker 3: votes than Kamala Biden got him with seven million more
• 44:43
Speaker 3: votes than Trump. Let's not act like Trump got some
• 44:46
Speaker 3: sort of mandate. The only thing it says is the
• 44:48
Speaker 3: syndicated conservative media fear machine works on people who don't
• 44:52
Speaker 3: realize Trump's spending in Action's helped cause inflation.
• 44:58
Speaker 10: Look, I think that person's p probably not making the
• 45:00
Speaker 10: point they think they're making with that, right. I mean,
• 45:03
Speaker 10: Trump continued to get more votes, and Harris especially if
• 45:07
Speaker 10: you look at, you know, how Obama did in previous
• 45:10
Speaker 10: Democrat elections, it really just shows you how out of
• 45:13
Speaker 10: whack twenty twenty was, right. So, you know, I think
• 45:15
Speaker 10: for a lot of the people that said, oh my gosh,
• 45:17
Speaker 10: you know, did Trump steel you know, that was Trump's
• 45:19
Speaker 10: election twenty twenty stolen, it would be hard to look
• 45:22
Speaker 10: at the twenty four election, twenty elections, sixteen election, and
• 45:26
Speaker 10: twelve election and not see that twenty was way out
• 45:29
Speaker 10: of whack, right. And so look, I think the Democrats
• 45:33
Speaker 10: they've really got to do something. And it can't just
• 45:36
Speaker 10: be in those major cities, right, It can't just be
• 45:39
Speaker 10: you know, because of the electoral college. They can't say, oh,
• 45:43
Speaker 10: we just got to do better in Detroit. We just
• 45:45
Speaker 10: got to do better in Philadelphia, we just got to
• 45:47
Speaker 10: do better in Atlanta. They've got to do better than
• 45:50
Speaker 10: the suburbs. They have to do better. And the reality
• 45:53
Speaker 10: is is Trump did better in those cities than what
• 45:55
Speaker 10: he did previously too, And that goes back to what
• 45:58
Speaker 10: you said earlier about the middle class. I mean, it's
• 46:00
Speaker 10: just middle class Hispanics, middle class Blacks looked at it
• 46:03
Speaker 10: and said, I can't afford four more years of Biden
• 46:06
Speaker 10: Harris presidency. You know, I've got to go to I'm
• 46:09
Speaker 10: going to go to a different direction. I'd like to
• 46:11
Speaker 10: go back in time to twenty eighteen when the economy
• 46:14
Speaker 10: was on fire and Trump was president nine p.

Speaker 3: and eat. The country was shut down. Everyone is better

• 49:07
Speaker 3: got more stuff I want to get in.
• 49:08
Speaker 10: You're going to compare what they did with COVID, which
• 49:11
Speaker 10: was which a lot of which was a mistake, to
• 49:13
Speaker 10: just the economy right now. I mean, that's so apples
• 49:16
Speaker 10: and oranges and they know exactly what they're doing there.
• 49:19
Speaker 10: Everybody knows that inflation's out of control. And if you
• 49:23
Speaker 10: think that toilet paper anything else at Walmart is more

• 49:49

• 49:51
  Speaker 3: reach out.
• 49:52
  Speaker 4: Greg.
• 49:52
Speaker 3: I want to talk to you about some stuff in
• 49:54
Speaker 3: West Virginia. What's on your mind West Virginia wise?
• 49:56
Speaker 10: Well, I think you got two main things going on
• 49:59
Speaker 10: right now. Obviously, Morrisey's got his transition underway. They've got
• 50:03
Speaker 10: a website to have people, uh send in comments apply
• 50:08
Speaker 10: for jobs. I know he announced a transition team, and
• 50:12
Speaker 10: I know those folks are out there meeting with people.
• 50:15
Speaker 10: Is they're, you know, privately trying to figure out who
• 50:17
Speaker 10: their team's going to be and what their agenda is
• 50:19
Speaker 10: going to be. Uh So I think that's a big
• 50:21
Speaker 10: thing that's going on behind the scenes. And then and
• 50:24
Speaker 10: then you got the Senate presidency fight, you know, which
• 50:26
Speaker 10: is uh they're going to have a vote when they
• 50:28
Speaker 10: come in for interims in December. And you've got a
• 50:31
Speaker 10: few different people, including a couple of local folks that
• 50:33
Speaker 10: are that are involved in that. The one person that
• 50:37
Speaker 10: is involved in it, that that everybody's starting to realize
• 50:41
Speaker 10: is involved in it is Robert Carnes. I don't if
• 50:43
Speaker 10: you remember. You know, Carnes was a state senator that
• 50:46
Speaker 10: got beat in the primary. It was just really just
• 50:49
Speaker 10: a troublemaker, you know, tries to go out there and
• 50:52
Speaker 10: you know, these guys go out there and they talk,
• 50:54
Speaker 10: they say like, oh, we're the far right wing, but
• 50:56
Speaker 10: you know, most of the time they're not even the
• 50:58
Speaker 10: far right wing because they're you know, endorsed by you know,
• 51:01
Speaker 10: they get money from personal injury lawyers, labor unions. A
• 51:04
Speaker 10: lot of times, they're just the you know, sort of
• 51:06
Speaker 10: the old time social conservative democrats that that you know,
• 51:10
Speaker 10: tended to vote with the liberals on the economic issues.
• 51:13
Speaker 10: And you know, This is a guy that's just trying
• 51:15
Speaker 10: to create chaos in the whole thing. You know, just
• 51:19
Speaker 10: use the divisive issues. You know, this is the group
• 51:22
Speaker 10: that wants to you know, have a total ban on abortion.
• 51:25
Speaker 10: You know, they want to get rid of vaccine requirements.
• 51:28
Speaker 10: They were the ones that you know, dealt with lower
• 51:31
Speaker 10: in the age of marriage and the whole spousal rate.
• 51:34
Speaker 10: You know, just a lot of the spousal rape, a
• 51:36
Speaker 10: lot of those crazy issues that really didn't they don't
• 51:39
Speaker 10: work in the elections. But that's the thing they do.
• 51:42
Speaker 10: They go out there and they sort of get these
• 51:44
Speaker 10: devisive wedge issues to try to make them Republican, you know,
• 51:47
Speaker 10: to to meddle in Republican primaries, and you know, for
• 51:50
Speaker 10: the most case, they don't work. You know, they tried
• 51:53
Speaker 10: that stuff against Robbie Morris and Eric Nelson and Weld
• 51:55
Speaker 10: and they didn't work. And you know, so I just
• 51:59
Speaker 10: you know, look, I think as people are, you know,
• 52:01
Speaker 10: we have some good candidates for that stuff. You know,
• 52:04
Speaker 10: I just think people need to know that Carnes is
• 52:06
Speaker 10: behind a certain group and hopefully, you know, people realize
• 52:10
Speaker 10: it's the reason for it.
