- 0:00Hey Welcome to Lavender Mine podcast,
- 0:03a podcast to help anyone remember
- 0:06how to live only in this moment.
- 0:09Because, you know what? It's the only 1
- 0:10we have.
- 0:11Hey. Welcome to Lavender Mine. I'm your host
- 0:14Katie Bo blanc. If you're new here, welcome
- 0:16to the show And if you've been here
- 0:18before, welcome back. As always, it helps my
- 0:21show to grow if you leave a review,
- 0:24press that check above or share with a
- 0:26friend.
- 0:28I don't know about you, but I'm human,
- 0:29and I do some stupid things.
- 0:32When I allow my thoughts to replay that
- 0:34movie in my mind, it can be so
- 0:36painful.
- 0:37I used to spend so much time in
- 0:39energy replaying these movies.
- 0:42Aside from the popcorn, it really wasn't that
- 0:43much fun. It made me so anxious and
- 0:47it gave me a lot of self doubt.
- 0:49Basically, constant worry was just where I stayed.
- 0:53Similar to the episode, that I shared about
- 0:56my husband with anxiety. I was living in
- 0:59a state of worry constantly.
- 1:01I was the worry queen, and
- 1:04I never made
- 1:05t shirts, but I did design them in
- 1:07my head. That was like the commercial in
- 1:09between all the worrying movies.
- 1:12They had titles like this. It was like,
- 1:15Oh, I should have done this. I should
- 1:17have done that. I could have done this.
- 1:20Now I have new titles, and I have
- 1:23stopped, shitting all over myself, excuse the pun,
- 1:26and
- 1:27I have movies that are like, move on
- 1:30little mama, and
- 1:32You've got new fish to fry right here
- 1:34right now on this moment.
- 1:36Just
- 1:37live in the moment.
- 1:38Move on.
- 1:40These new titles have allowed me to just
- 1:42breathe and judge myself and others much less.
- 1:46It is a lot more peaceful.
- 1:48You can still eat the popcorn if you
- 1:50want, just less butter because I don't know
- 1:51my metabolism probably slowing down.
- 1:54I'm here today to talk about How do
- 1:56we stop our judging mind or how do
- 1:58we just learn to cultivate
- 2:01non judgment?
- 2:02Because it is definitely
- 2:04a muscle that we have to practice? It's
- 2:06not an overnight thing, but
- 2:08in doing so, it really allows for a
- 2:11lot more peace. I can tell you firsthand.
- 2:13I used to live.
- 2:15It's in the worries zone.
- 2:17Meditation allows you to sit with discomfort
- 2:20and well just sit and learn not to
- 2:23judge it
- 2:24when we practice sitting with boredom and restless,
- 2:28we practice the sport of sitting
- 2:30with these uncomfortable feelings.
- 2:32And
- 2:33we choose to just feel it and sit
- 2:35with it.
- 2:36It is normal to be j of thy
- 2:38myself. If we get used to our little
- 2:41brains, doing all these things
- 2:43and learn to judge a little bit less,
- 2:46we can come back to our breath and
- 2:48our body
- 2:49and know that
- 2:51Okay. There I go judging again, come back,
- 2:54take a breath.
- 2:56We get used to this experience and it
- 2:58becomes a little bit less of a big
- 2:59deal.
- 3:00You don't have to be falsely happy about
- 3:03anything.
- 3:05I know because I live in the real
- 3:07world, and sometimes I don't really like the
- 3:09limits that I have been passed
- 3:11have been passed my way.
- 3:13But we do have to be honest about
- 3:15what is happening. We can't go hide, the
- 3:18but we can look at the lemons and
- 3:21just practice this habit of noticing the lemons
- 3:24and try to look at them with less
- 3:26judgment
- 3:27And when we do this, we open ourselves
- 3:29to less stress and anxiety and we can
- 3:31spend our energy and time on something more
- 3:34joyful
- 3:35So if you can recall a really embarrassing
- 3:38moment
- 3:39or maybe a not so great time. And
- 3:43change the film in your mind from should
- 3:45could've or
- 3:47I didn't really love that that much to
- 3:49a Netflix series that causes
- 3:52less stress.
- 3:53Even years later, we can still replay these
- 3:56Netflix series in our minds of those times
- 4:00that were just
- 4:01gross and we regret what we did. And
- 4:05it's in that that we can just really
- 4:07look at that and
- 4:09realize that
- 4:11we're human. We don't have to hate on
- 4:13ourselves.
- 4:14The really crummy thing happened
- 4:16and
- 4:17it's okay to just sit with that feeling
- 4:20and not have all the hate or all
- 4:22the judgment towards ourselves.
- 4:25Less could have should and more. I am
- 4:27now in this moment that I'm in. I
- 4:30learned that bang, and I grew, and I
- 4:32evolved,
- 4:33and I learned a bunch from that crummy
- 4:35thing. Maybe that last line is hard. Maybe
- 4:38you're not to that point where you wanna
- 4:40say that you learn from it, and that's
- 4:42okay.
- 4:43If it's too hard, you can also just
- 4:45sit with it and give it space
- 4:47and allow those feelings
- 4:49to occur non judgmental
- 4:52There is a space that opens up in
- 4:53our hearts and our minds when we can
- 4:55judge
- 4:56less and just hang out with those thoughts
- 4:58and feelings and sensations.
- 5:01Without being so harsh on ourselves.
- 5:03We don't have to fix it or play
- 5:06that Netflix series over and over again. If
- 5:09it does come up, though,
- 5:11grab some popcorn
- 5:12and try not to judge and just sit
- 5:14with yourself with a lot of love because
- 5:16we're all human.
- 5:18We're all doing this together. And
- 5:20when we judge ourselves less, when we show
- 5:23up with this non judgmental awareness,
- 5:26it really allows for more peace in our
- 5:28hearts and in our minds.
- 5:30And we also
- 5:32carry this to other people. When we have
- 5:34room for ourselves,
- 5:35we also have room for others
- 5:38in a non judgment way.
- 5:40Ec toll says that the moment that judgment
- 5:43stops,
- 5:44through acceptance of what is
- 5:46you are free of the mind. You have
- 5:48made room for love, for joy and for
- 5:51peace.
- 5:52I hope this helps. I hope together we
- 5:54can plant some seeds of resilience and joy,
- 5:57have an amazing day.
