- TCM6: Alright, so I'm just gonna say fuck it and we'll we'll since we're doing both of these at the same time, I'll just go ahead and jump into the next one. Six give it. As Pat will say it. Yeah, so this this was my so we're right now we're reviewing Texas Chainsaw Massacre the Beginning, directed by Jonathan Leapsman. I don't know if I said that right. Screenplay by Sheldon Turner. Produced by Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes. This is the last one that they got to touch for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. series unfortunately, but Arlie Emory is back in this one. Taylor Hanley is in this. If you know, if you've ever seen Phantom by the Megaplex, which was a Disney horror film from the two thousands. Amazing, phenomenal. And Jordana Brewster. This came out in two thousand six. This was my introduction to horror, just horror. I saw this in the movie. Sorry, go ahead. I thought no The other one was Justin's, this one was yours, not vice versa. Got it, got it. Okay. Yeah, so this was the first this was the first movie that got me into horror. I saw this in a movie theater with my friend and I was just in a catatonic state after 'cause it was so like I never my dad my dad loved horror movies. My my sister loved horror movies, but I was growing up I was always scared. Like I would kinda be around the corner looking and I remember be going to the bathroom, I would hear the horror movies playing in my sister's room, but I never actually went in there and watched it. And seeing this as a first horror film, like, you know, in the big screen, 'cause I'd seen once before, but this was really intense because it was very gory. It was graphic. and I was just like sitting there in the chair, like, damn, this is fucked up. And then after that I just kinda went downhill. And I like, All right, we gotta keep on watching these horror films. So this being your introduction, how much how much time was it between you watching this one and then going back to watching the one right before it? I don't remember because I remember when this came out, obviously Blockbuster whistle around D V D so it wasn't as easily accessible to get a hold of just film just to watch it. I mean, unless you were using I think at that point, like LimeWire, Kazah, Napster. bear share was still around so you could download like a bootleg but then it it's always a 75 25 you're gonna get a a virus on your desktop computer and then fuck everything out in front so yeah I I remember I actually do have this DVD like I think I I showed it but I have this DVD I bought it from Blockbuster and it was like 10 bucks snatched that shit out of like the bargain bin and I was like yeah this is this is amazing. Like if when you open the The DVD thing, like the CD has like chainsaws around it. It's kind of like a gritty, gory type of feel to it. But this this film was insane. I mean, we were talking about on the previous episode, but this has a little underlying layer of some themes that are are integrated into this film. And then you just have Leatherface just going ape shit. And you can kind of see where he starts. this this transition because this is just a guy who is working in a meat factory and he's just cutting meat and that factory gets shut down and they're like, right, well, you were no longer needed. Like that's kind of where his s his his arc started because I don't think he kills that guy if the manager doesn't call him a a a dumb animal. Which is wild to call someone that big. Yeah, that's crazy, dude. Damn. J Justin, what did you when when did you first see this film? recently. First time. First watch. Yeah. What were your thoughts on this having seen the first one originally? This one's fucked, man. This one was more boring. I liked how they like how Pat said in the previous episode, I like how they kind of brought The first one and the prequel, how they, you know, mesh it together pretty well. Fucking major digging. God damn. Bro, hit the craziest my god. That you know, that's what f that's why I'm in her car because I hit a pothole during that big ass rainstorm a couple of weeks ago. Completely fucked up my car. Now I gotta get a new car too. So I took her car out here. The last thing I need is to hit fucking pothole like that in her car and for her never me never hit the end of it. So I'm gonna have to edit that little I'm gonna have to edit that little bit out just in case. Bro, I'm seeing I'm I'm seeing dealership side note, just seeing dealerships charge like ten thousand plus for like a hundred thousand mile cars. Stop it, man. Stop it. Yeah, it's it's it's absurd. What is going on, bro? My bad. Back to back to the other people. But yeah, I like how they kinda gave him a story, you know, to whereas majority of the films he was just a fucking a basket case, just killing people, you know. And then the the occasional times where he sifts wine and sews on his off time making clothes and shit. But I like how they kinda you know, they they kinda gave him a reason. They kinda gave him the why. which I really liked. I was like, Okay. Now not now I know now I know more about you, bro. My bad. You know? You wanna give him a hug? Yeah, he definitely needed a hug. Not I'm not giving bro a hug. staying as far away as possible. I mean, I can give him a hug as long as I got, you know, like a little Glock on me. No Glocks empty with a switch. So so So did you guys notice that I believe? We don't have one. That'll come and relax. The same the same boss, I believe, that Leatherface was working for was his mom. And I I skipped over this part, but what did y'all think about that very first opening? Because the mom is working and then she like delivers the baby and then you know, they find Leatherface in a fucking trash can. Like the lady, she's picking up I don't know what it is, but she puts it in her mouth, pause, and then she opens up the trash can looking for more food. What? And then Why would you pause why would you pause that? If she's putting it in our mouth, why would you pause that? That's not a pause. It could be a pause. Nah, that's not a pause. And then I see like a roach go past The newspaper, and then she opens it up and there's a baby. And then the sheriff's like, that's the ugliest thing I ever seen. And that's how the movie opens up. I've completely skipped over that part. How how how did y'all think? What did y'all think about how this movie opened up? Because it was also kind of graphic. Like she, the mom falls back and then like the blood comes out and they think she's dead. And then she kind of wakes up, has like a little panic attack, and then I guess she delivers the baby, doesn't want the baby. So she puts the baby in a trash can. And then that's how his origin story starts. Like he's a deformed baby who's found the dumpster. Brenda's got a baby. Shout out to Tupac. damn, you just took my line. Just took my line. Fuck. I got nothing else to Bro got the worst Uno card stack of all time. Right. No, I I I like that beginning better than what they did in Leatherface, the movie. Yeah. Like I I think it's an appropriate beginning for what the leatherface you're about to see. It's the ugliest baby I've ever seen. And you don't even see his face in the beginning, you see him like looking down from, you know, that that top up view. Which is like, no, can we take it home? The the the ball no that maybe ugly as shit. So then, you know, we we we transition to, you know, this group who are on their way. Jordana Brewster's character and other actress who I believe her name is Bailey, they are taking both of their boyfriends to see them off at Vietnam War. And, you know, Jordana and her boyfriend are at the pool in this nasty ass water, and then the other people are doing some S and stuff, and he's like, Yeah, I'm not into this right now. No no no like they're just on the mattress. Nothing is covering. That's just but you know, that's disgusting in my f in in my opinion. But he's just like, Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not into this. It's like, no bad chases. He was on a little bit of a pushy. I'm use my tongue. I'm gonna use my tongue in ways that God never intended. He was a little pussy throughout the whole movie, so that opening scene where you meet him kind of fits for him. protecting myself from all of this sin. He he was one of the worst he was one of the worst people. Like friend aside from Franklin in the first one he was one I hated the most in the friend groups. Because he didn't want to go to war? Just because he was a little pussy. Like it was just a new a number of things just made him made me not like Yeah, so it so, you know, they're Rose of Beach Man. You know, so they're on their way. They're on their way to drop him off. And in between this, it shows Leatherface who he kills the boss because he's like, I know that you sent him to fire me and and kick me out of this place. It wasn't him. And then dude just gets bamed. No more. And then you just see like this huge person. Just in his, you know, he's still in his wardrobe from his apron. He's just walking down the road. And then they go to the house. They said, Hey, we gotta, you know, we gotta take in your nephew or your son. He's killed someone. And then the guy fucking kills the sheriff. And it's just kind of ironic. The guy's like, Yeah, you know, this town is going downhill. Hell, I'm moving over here to to another state. And then he shoots him. Leaves the car without the shotgun. Knowing how big that this guy is, that To me to make any sense. I mean you also gotta think about the time too. Like how when was the next person gonna be coming through that town? Like you probably have no idea when that next person's coming through. So I don't think the I wouldn't get too hung up on that for me personally. But I I just see where you're coming from. What what you guys I was gonna say, what do you guys think about that montage also after? Which one? The montage where they're all at the dinner table. They're all talking about we're the last family here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no. The the whole the speech? Yeah. I get it. You know, that that's setting up the f the f where am I going? All right. that sets up the family and how they're Like how it goes into the cannibals and and all that. Like I understand that. but it's more of just like a redneck pride shit. That's all it's about like. Shout out to Were they rednecks? Were they rednecks? Yeah, I mean you gotta kinda yeah, I would consider them a redneck. Maybe country? Alright, you know as you can see, I'm from New York City. So they down there it's gonna be redneck or they maybe they're not rednecks. I don't know. Because the way you're saying redneck kinda sounds offensive. I'm just I'm just gonna throw that out there. Then it's then it's offensive. If it sounds offensive, then it's offensive. What do you want me to tell you? It's offensive. I'm just gonna say. And it is it is what it is. But That that's what realized it was like redneck shit. So So at this point they decide that they're gonna continue on their journey. And then they go into the the shop to try to get some stuff, go to the bathroom, they find the other bikers, and then this is where Dean is like, Hey, like I'm not going to Vietnam with you. I I I I heard you screaming at night. I know what's going on over there. I don't want to be a part of it, which is I don't know, I guess, is this a point in s in like The timeline in the world where the Americans are starting to see that they made a mistake going to Vietnam. it kind of it kind of alludes that that's where it is, but dude is burning his draft card in the car and they're, you know, they're fighting, and then the biker is behind them with the gun, and then all out of nowhere, just a a horse, not a horse, a cow. A cow is in the middle of the street. Like you didn't see this cow for miles and miles just standing there, not doing anything, and then they just ripped this cow apart. Peter was pissed. I know that for sure. That's that's free beef right there. Free range, one hundred percent. it wasn't holy though. They they blessed they blessed the meat right after. Don't worry about it. yeah, I mean I listen, the a lot of it just The whole the whole car scene, I mean it wasn't the best friend group interaction. Like you really didn't I don't know, it did they you didn't care for any of Like none of really stood out to the point where you wanted to really care about Like even Jordan Bruce, like I thrown from the car, she hid, whatever. And then you don't really see her. So they they make this kid a a little bit of a pussy, and then he gets beat up by the sheriff. He gets hung up on the meat hook and you still don't give a you really don't give a fuck about him. So it's kind of if she had her Integra, would have gone out of there so fast. If Indiesa was there. But yeah, like yeah. I didn't care for any of the characters in this movie. But I wanna you know, I I that was my only gripe for the actual movie. Because I think this was the best Chinese Chainsaw Master movie they made. and it's not even close. I think this is probably So the only thing I'm gonna give one would be the dinner scene and the cinematography. So to me the the dinner scene and the cinematography in one is probably top three horror movie moments ever in any kind of horror film. But this the beginning at the new beginning or the beginning? What's it called? The beginning. Beginning. The beginning is definitely the best Texas Chainsaw Massacre by far. To me at least. so we kinda But the the gripe is that well my gripe is that the friend group was probably one of the weakest. You just didn't really like connect with anybody. Like even even Franklin in the first one, I fucking hated him. But I felt bad when he died. You know he didn't deserve to go out like that. So no one in this film deserved to go out like they did either. Yeah, I don't know. That kid should have been on the meat hook. He should have been put on that fucking meat hook. Fucking little pussy. But even his girlfriend said to Chrissy, who was Jordana's care character in this film, said that, yeah, I say, don't go to war. get as far away as you possibly can from this. And then you know, at this point, you know, the car slipped over after they've had that fight, and the sheriff comes, is like, all right, well, there's no fire, and he finds a drive car. He's just pretty much, all right, so which one of you guys did that shit? And his brother steps up for him. It's like, no, that was me. So his brother's still in his bars line for line with everything he's he took while they're in the car going to the house. And then you just see Leatherface just take the body of the the biker and then just like take it really quick, grab leat, and then just go in. And then, you know, you see in the begin in in the I guess his layer or whatever it is. Sheriff is like, hey, meet's meet. I mean that's that's the point of the story, right? Meet meat, a hole's a hole. So all one. But I d the funny thing too was when he was like, Don't what are you doing putting her in the backseat of my car? He's like, No, throw that bitch in the trunk. Like in my sound. fucking traffic. God damn it. The funny part, the funny kind of part that I I know was a little funny, but it wasn't, you know, when obviously he's the sheriff is kind of talking about his experience with war. So it kind of alludes to where his cannibalist his cannibalism kind of takes place from when he was over in war and they had nothing to eat. And he's like, You either die or you survive. And whatever was around, that's what you eat. So that, you know, he took that back from the war, came back, and then, you know, he's in Texas. There's not a lot of resources. So I guess they start eating people, killing them. But at that point, this was the beginning of that family doing the cannibalism because the meat factory had just closed down. So assuming they're getting all the meat from Thomas because he works at the meat factory. But, you know, he strings Dean up. And I'm not sorry, his brother. He strings his brother up and then Dean's All right, you just do ten push ups and you can go. And then he starts bumping him. And then he's like, I'll kill you. He's like, You shut your mouth, you cocksuckin' son of a bitch. He said that shit with his chest down. Cocksucking son of a bitch. No, he d he definitely was. He definitely was. But see, you laugh at me about push ups. D if this guy was able to do ten push ups, he would be alive. He could have done ten push-ups, ten push-ups without being hit over the head with a mallet. Cause that's not fair. Listen, you you gotta survive, right? You could do ten push-ups. If you I don't know if he could have done push-ups. But he don't don't mock don't mock my push-ups. And he got him done. He got him accomplished. Barely. And then and then it's like that other scene, like after he does the push-ups and he's just kind of knocked out. And then you just see like the lady who is well rounded. She should have done a push-up montage. The well-rounded lady, she's just kind of waddling to the house, and they're talking about how hot it is. Well-rounded. Yeah. She's well-rounded. She's walking, she's kind of doing this, moving from side to side. And then you just have a woman underneath tie, and they're talking about, yeah, it's so hot while they're just drinking tea and having crumpets. Was that like people crumpets or was it a regular crumpet? I don't know. It didn't look that good though. Damn. So horrible making. Would you think they eat people for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Or is that like a dinner thing and then you eat like I don't know, whatever you can for breakfast and lunch. There's nothing in that town. It's deserted. I think they're a little old. You know? Right? Just meet for dinner, I would assume. Work all day. They eat supper with the family. You know, you know what I mean? How how do guys like how it introduced him using the chainsaw for the first time in this movie? Cause it, you know, if we're skipping forward a little bit, the other biker die, you he's looking for his his girlfriend. And the sheriff takes, yeah, the sheriff takes takes him in there and then is like, no, this is not my girlfriend. He's like, you want to see the other person. And then Leatherface comes in and then he's like, he's like, he's like, do it, do it. These are these people who are fucking with you at school. Take it. No, I I I really enjoyed the way he was he was egging on Ghostface. the Ghostface, Leatherface. The way he like kind of pushed him into using the chainsaw against him against I don't know if you ever see the the show Oz. Anybody see Oz? Mm-hmm. I know what it is though, yeah. He played Beecher in Oz. Him and J.K. Simmons. J.K. Simmons played sh Schillinger. And he played Beecher. And Beecher was his bitch in jail. So that he'll always be Beecher to me. But anyway. but yeah, the way he The way the sheriff was kind of just pushing Leatherface to use a chainsaw and then use it again on the legs. It just I I I I like that. Like I like the sheriff. I thought he was probably the best character out of this film. I think he's the best character in the whole in the whole franchise. I could see that. Just so much personality. Yeah, he's just walk that guy's walking personality. Whether you like it or not. He is like the main ringleader too, so he is the apex of the entire family. Yeah. I don't know if you call it brains of the family, but he's he's a leader. You know, he's like I don't know about brains, but So you know, he kills the biker and then he goes down and then he's like, All right, I got one. I got one body. Shit. Give me two. Let me give you one more. And Chrissy is under there and she, you know, is talking, you know, she's trying to get her boyfriend out. It's not working. You know, they're talking about the pop, you know, the the ring they got out of the cracker jack box. And then I remember watching this in the movie theater where he puts a chainsaw in Homeboy, and then he just starts to slowly cut the face off. He puts it on. The sheriff is like, I like your new face. And I like your and hey, take your friend with you. You starting to see you really start to see him evolve into like this, like now I'm fully in this lane. This is which we didn't mean. Which like, you know, we we didn't get any of that. Any of any of this in any of the other movies. We didn't really get the personality or like the the whys, the justifications. We got a lot more of this from this film. Like it kind of starts to make a little bit more sense. Even them saying, Well, you got beat up. you found the dumpster. Like all this shit kinda makes sense for perfect chaos, why and how this shit kinda just falls off the fucking rails. Yeah, hundred percent agree. I think it was easily it it tied in stuff that even it shouldn't have. So like even from Matif too. Even from the beginning, like from the nineteen seventy four version, like you you feel like This story makes sense even for that. Like the the way they set this up made perfect sense for all the Leatherfaces previous as well. Not just the one from a few years prior. So like it felt like you could have dropped except for see, I don't know, cause two, three, and four were so different. But like if you're just taking one and then the two remakes, I think this remake, the the beginning. You can fit this story and make it fit also a prequel for one also. Which one had the Guitar Hero trailer? Three. Yeah. I think three was the one in the woods with the Yeah. The lightningsaw That was the best chainsaw in the series, bro. Roger Rockmore. Well they had the the gold plated chainsaw in part four, right? In the conspiracy? I think so, yeah. It's like, yeah, we got this custom made for you. It's not the same, bro. It's not the same. Did did any of you guys think that Chrissy was gonna survive? I mean Yeah. I don't know, it was kinda like up in the air for me. I was like I was like, I don't know, maybe maybe they could, you know, kill her off and everyone would be like, shit You know I would I wouldn't call the ending like You know what is too? They it's kinda hard it's hard to explain. I wouldn't I wouldn't call it like a like a sh surprise that she you know, if she did or didn't. It just it kind of just Yeah, I don't think anybody should really survive the end of these. It it just doesn't make sense. It just doesn't make sense. Like to get away from this guy, it just doesn't make sense to survive. The way she died. So it's it really wouldn't Can I listen? The whole thing is crazy. But like I was so sho I was so shocked when I saw that. So shocked. I I was I was actually I was actually quite horrified. I assume she would survive. But, you know, she doesn't it makes sense if she doesn't. It doesn't. And again it always makes sense if if they know 'cause it's like it's fucking fucked scenario to be in. Who'd you like better? Her or just a good peel? As like the main as the main character. Jordana. I think. Justin, who'd you like more? I don't know. it could be a toss up. Maybe I would say you know what? I'll say Georgiana too just for the actor. Yeah, I I think her character was better, but I think like I think the physicality of Jessica Beale's character, if you mi if you mix and matched it, like if you put the character of Jordan and Brewster in Jessica Beale's like physicality of the role, I think it would have been a perfect a perfect combination. I feel like yeah, I feel like some days I'll choose Jessica Beale because like I do like the scrappiness. The scrapiness was kinda like realistic. I mean that that's also my problem with a lot of horror movies is that Somewhat realistic. It wasn't the great but you know. Like a lot of these women will get rag dolled instantly. Like this guy's six four, six five, two sixty. He chainsaws people for a living, and this girl five five, a hundred and twenty pounds, is gonna do what? Well Dean tried to fight and you saw what happened to him. So I like I like how I like how tactical they made Jessica Beale, you know, 'cause that was like that was an elephant in a room every time they were ch you know, she was getting chased. It was like if he gets a hold of her, bro, like she's done. She's done. So I do like how she got really tactical. Yeah, I think that's the only way you can do that for them to survive. Yeah. So you get a hold of her, you're fucking ragdolling her to death. Yeah. You can you can beat her boyfriend with him, with her. So it's kind of like you know, for them to survive it may it's kinda stupid. But you know, you gotta make them tactical. You gotta make them more of like you know, she's gotta kinda think her way out. And I I think Jordana Bruce's character did well with that. But it just didn't work out for her. Sorry. Remember, this is also the first horror movie that I had, you know, seen in the movie theaters, I think, really at that time. So to see I've I've already seen dudes get chainsaws put on their back, in their chests, faces cut off, and then you're like, no, she's gonna survive, she's gonna survive and then he just like hops out of nowhere and then just you know, they show the chainsaw coming through her and then there just happens to be a cop on the side of the road who also gets killed. Like Random shit like that, like some goofy Looney Tunes cartoon type shit. You hey, you can't be doing that with the chainsaw. Freeze. Okay, man. So where would you put this in horror origins? in context of the other ones? In context of all the horror movies. It's up there. That gave that gave you an actual origin story. This is up there. Up there with that new carry. Amazon Prime baby. Mike Flanagan baby. Don't you dare do that. Mike Flanagan baby. I I'll gladly do a fucking carry episode where we talk about all eight episodes. you finished it? No, I didn't. I got up to I finished seven. Okay. I'm gonna I'm gonna finish eight probably in the morning. This this will be up there with probably the top for me, but also it's a different perspective 'cause I started on this one first. So this this is a little bit better. I mean I would even actually This also might be a little controversial. I also think I would put the remake of Friday the thirteenth up there too. I like that a lot better than the first one. I don't i in in context, I I always skip the first Friday thirteenth. 'Cause Jason's not there. Jason's not there. I don't care. I don't care about the mom. She's the main character in one though. Like that makes the whole movie. But you don't even see her. Like, I want to see Jason. I came to see Jason. Are you gonna watch the the show? Yeah, yeah, I'll watch My favorite one is the one where he goes to Manhattan. That one's hilarious. Where he kicks the guy. Yeah. And he didn't care. Bro, he just walked off after that. I was like, I was like, that's some Manhattan ass shit right there. Some New York ass shit. so Again, I think I think these two I think these two save the the previous four that we've seen. definitely. I don't think so. The first one the first remake was like a real good one up. I think six makes these two make the franchise like Doable. Not the worst ever. But it gets shit, I cut out, didn't I? For a second are you good. Yeah, I think six makes the five and six make the franchise not the worst ever. Like as a ma as like a quote unquote top tier horror franchise. I think they save it from that. But as a whole, I I don't think there's any save especially now that I watched all of I don't think there's anything that could have saved this franchise. Even even if somebody does another one really well, I don't think it's gonna help. Well, there's coming the the other one is coming out with the curve. To me it's easily the first of the majority. I'm cutting in and out. I got What about and I brought this one. Justin, have you ever seen you ever seen Wrong Turn? I've heard the name. I saw one. I think I saw the first one. I think so. I've just seen the first one. I think so. There's like six or seven of them. They did a remake a couple years ago. And they're pretty. It also explores cannibalism, backwoods, West Virginia, deformed people. It's yeah. So I'm like, all right, you know, maybe we can maybe. Wrong turn, Texas Chainsaw can kind of be maybe like level. No, I haven't seen this. What the fuck? I wouldn't consider like when you talk about horror movies, wrong turn never gets brought up in like top ten franchises. No, because after the first one, I think every other one after that went direct like direct to streaming, direct to D yeah, direct to video. I only remember the first one. The first one was with the the girl from Bring It On, right? Elijah Dushku. Yeah, so that's the only one I remember. And I don't even remember it like like that. It's pretty good though. It's it's I would definitely put that on your list for Like I remember watching that one. But I don't remember the movie as a whole. I'm putting jeepers creepers over wrong turn. There's only three of there's no, I think there's yeah, there's only three jippers creepers though. Those three are they do one recently? I thought they did, but we also know why they stopped we we know why they stopped making those, but we're not gonna do that right now. So No, I have no idea why why, because they were bad. No, the director was linked doing some petto stuff. Make sense. Fucking you know. Makes sense why they make after. But I'm saying. This is where it stops though for They did. I think they did make another one after, but it was a depth and director, so it wasn't wasn't that good. They had backside here. But yeah, I think after this, it just this is like the I don't know, I guess like the pinnacle of the Text Chainsaw Massacre series, and after this it's gonna start to go back down. So it got really bad. Like I thought two, three and four Yeah. So I'll give one five and six. But then two, three, four, and then seven, eight, nine were absolute trash. Like not a not a I can't, these are special episodes. Remember, it's not the real show. So I could say I could say it was trash. I could say it was trash. But like there's not a redeeming quality to any of They're just bad. Like I understand like the guitar. Like the I like the guitar. I like the guitar hero commercial. It was just so safe. Like that to me that's not a that's not a Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. Like you could have put Freddie or J not Freddie, but you could have put Jason or Michael Myers in the woods with them and it would have been the same fucking movie. Like Leatherface shit, Jason's here too? Like Yeah, you did not have to be in that movie. Like there was no reason for it. Yeah. man, yeah, it's just so bad. Like I I I I L Leatherface I just I guess not. Overall though, man, just L Leatherface. This one was the yeah, I mean to me this is the best one that they did. I'm putting the Exorcist on the Mount Rushmore over Leatherface, dude. So about Linda Blair. I I don't I mean, can you can you make a case for Chucky over Leatherface? No. No? No. And I don't think I I would say I don't think that the horror community I think the horror community would be very divided with. Hunt and like football, bro. How they kind of have done like the newer series. It's it's very it's very liberal. What, Chucky? Yeah, you know, he's got a non binary kid. I I haven't watched the series. I refuse. Yeah, he got a his his he's like, no, Mike, you know, I'm he's well he's pro, you know, he's pro LGBTQ IA plus, so it is a doll. I mean he's a fucking doll. What does it matter? my god. I'd be like, sure, bro. Whatever, man. Nah, remember Chucky. Chucky had the wife and then they made the kid. I was like, No, get that shit out of here. Yeah, it got bad it got bad quick, but Everybody in Texas saw it and they were like, The T V show actually is not that bad. It's probably better than a lot of last movies that came out. So if you got Jason, Freddie, everyone's brother, you've got salt dance. On the Mount Rushmore. Who is the fourth? I don't I don't think you could put Leatherface. I don't think you could put Ghostface. It would have to be either or. No. Hellraiser. What do you call him Pinno? Hellraiser doesn't have as much of a mainstream crossover appeal as the other ones. That's the thing. It's more niche. But you could say the same thing about Texas Chainsaw. Nah, bro. Cause Texas Chase on Masculine is like, yo, I'm I'm I'm I'm trying to go viral. And then like you got Freddie Jason and Michael Myers, like, nah, bro, like, not really. Like I I you know, like, I don't get it, man. You're not you're not selling me here. And Leatherface is like, yo, I I I wear people's faces, dude. Like, I'm I'm b I'm fucking crazy, bro. But you also wear nah. You also weren't around when They're like, nah, bruh, not really. The fact that Halloween Horror Nights, one of the biggest horror events in the world, put Leatherface next to Jason and Freddy, that says something. Like that says something in itself. It's the first nostalgia. If there's like a if there's like a lunchroom cafe, right? Like let's say they're in college, something like that. They're at the dining hall. They're watching Leatherface eat his like turkey sandwich by himself. They're like, this dumbass, bro. Like, look at me. He's trying to be us, bro. And meanwhile, Freddie Jason and Michael Myers are like captains of the D1 basketball team. And Original. People really revere the original one. They really revere the 1970s. I think that's the problem. And they And they're fans of the these ones. Those three got varsity jackets. They got their var they got their leather varsity jackets for both. For both sports. Then you got Leatherface, like, he's just he's been redshirt for the past two years, dude. Then you can also make a case. You can make a case though for any of those Friday 13th, Nightmare on Elf Streets, Halloween, you can make the same case about their later movies in the nineties, because they were all bad. They were just But they earned that. They earned that. Yeah, because it's so bad. Yeah, it's still bad. But there's things like with with Freddie, you got like the theme song like one, two, Freddy's coming for like those things kinda stuck. So yeah, Michael, Jason, Freddie, they earn the right to have a few not so good movies in their catalog. Where Leatherface never did. He never had that Classic w as much as people like revere the first one it's not that you go back and watch it and with an open mind, the cinematography amazing. The table scene amazing. That's it. There is nothing else to that movie. Brandon, look, I'm gonna put it in this perspective, right? You got Michael Myers, one of the greatest horror theme songs of all time. You got Jason, one of the only characters that doesn't kill like kids. He'll kill like teenagers and adults. And has the one of the most classic calls. You got Freddy with his theme song with his little with his little number. Then you got Leatherface who sews, bro. He makes clothes, dude. Which is very hard. It's a very hard talent to do. let me just put that out there. If you know how to sew it's always hard, bro. It's very fucking hard. He doesn't have the killer like that. And it's very expensive too. It is. It is. It's a very niche craft. It's very difficult. Tried it and Failed numerous times. I I don't think we have a fourth to put on Mal Rushmore yet. I'm I'm telling you, it's gotta be Leatherface Leatherface is too busy trying to make the next Rick Owens, bro. Technically that's what I'm saying. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series is probably the s the most current next to Halloween because the last Nightman Ohm she came out in what, twenty ten? And then the last Friday 13th came out in what around that same time. One student forced to be a murderer. the last one was what Halloween? Halloween ends, and then we had the Netflix Text Chance on Master one that came out. He was an artist. So that's the last one, right? I think so. Cause when did when did the last Halloween come out? 2021? Twenty two, something like that. Halloween ends came out in 2022. And when did the the last Texas Chainsaw Massacre come out? 23? 2022. Not 2022. All right. So they're about the same. Yeah, I don't think I don't think we have a horror icon for four. Personally. I don't think I could put anybody at that four spot. Like you got the guy from Saw but no. some people putting ghost face up there. My see I I would put him up there but my thing is it's Ghostface is more of a persona than a actual character. Right? Because it's just a mask. Everybody wears the mask. So I you know what? There's been seven movies and I think twelve people had the mask so far. So you I I don't think you could really count that personally. I'm I'm not gonna argue against it. Because I I understand, but personally I wouldn't put that as Tor. someone put a xenomorph on the top two the brush bar. They are pretty scary. But Yeah, number six is Xenomor. I I don't think we can I don't think we have I don't think I don't think we have that horror icon yet. So we actually did disservice to you by watching these because you had them you had the series higher regarded before you started watching all these. So I kinda fucked up on that. Well my problem is I did I when I went to go back and watch it. So obviously the first two I watched when I was young, young. And I remember being like super scared because I was fucking like eight and nine years old watching them. Or eight years old, whatever I was. And I would have survived. But then watching it again as an adult, I stopped at three because I didn't like I still liked the first one and then the second one I was like as an adult watching it, I was like, What the fuck is this? Same with the third, it was just boring. So I stopped. And now watching them the first one fell even further. And I Like it just fell like way, way out watching you know, four and then seven, eight, nine. Like five and six I could, you know. Six I actually really enjoyed. Five I thought was good, but not good at the same time. It's like I would watch with a heavily debated fourth slot. Like I would watch five and six again. I wouldn't watch anything else. Like I would watch one just for the cinematography and then fast forward it to the end of the end scene. But what about Pennywise? I've seen I've seen the 3D one a couple times, but that's just because I like the cast. Outside of Traws, of course. 3D. Trigger. No, I would never ever watch that fucking thing again. That was so bad. So fucking bad. I don't know which one was work. I don't know what was worse. Leatherface or 3D? I would say Leatherface because it just didn't make any sense. Then nothing in this franchise made sense. No, the you just said five and six made sense. Together. Yes. But then if you don't continue it, it's kind of like, you know. again, that's my main my main issue with this whole franchise is there's no continuity. At this point though you have so many hands in the pots and people fighting for the rights. I like I just saw that I guess they had to pay New Line Cinema had to pay a extra three million to add the beginning into their their title. Like what? To add what? The beginning. Like the beginning. Why would they have to pay for that? Some just something with the the rights. They were something with yeah, acquiring it. Jesus. They need that money. Damn good. Yeah. So I mean this is my franchise. Not gonna lie. Elk franchise overall. But five and six were the best. And one. Yeah. Six is my favorite. I thought it was the best overall story. I thought it was a great introduction, like how everything got started. I thought Jordana Brewster was probably the best acted you know, lead character in She just needed that actor, bro. She's out, dude. It's just knowing knowing what comes after it is kinda it's kinda disappointing. Like you can't It's just a a shit show. And it's all Braden's fault that it made me watch all these. Alright, well next next time we can do wrong turn and then you'll hate you'll you'll hate that even more. I probably will. Cause I like I don't even remember I don't even remember the first one. Like I remember most probably yeah don't remember the actual movie. Might be in my top fifteen horror movies of all time, I think. No way, dude. For real? Yeah. Easily. Easily. Cause I've been watching also so many of I've been watching so many of the other I've been watching a horror movie every day, so I've also been re-watching the Halloweens and the Friday thirteenth and the Nightmare on Elm Streets and I mean F Friday thirteenth is just you just put that show on the background. Yeah. You know. Jason's walk around, people hit him in the chair and then he's just like falling back and just Yeah, dude, she had the sickest intuitive. But you you gotta know what you're getting into when you're watching Friday the thirteenth. So that's the thing, like with Leatherface the first one was so the first one was so like different. Like it was an actual film. It was artsy, it had you know, you were you ex so you kind of expected that to continue. And it just never did. So I think I think that's also part of the problem was the first one was so was the oddball. I guess if you're gonna do it that way. The first one was so different from everything else that it's you know, you don't know what to expect anymore. Until you got these two paired together. But but it they're also so different than the first one. Like the first one took like pride in the technicality of it. Where these two were kind of more straightforward slashers in a sense. You know, the second one obviously had way more going on. But it just it just was so different. I don't think you could really i i it's tough because when you have such a iconic first and such a bad second, like where do you go from there? And they continued with the bed. In my opinion. So Give give me these two just by itself over the entire Scream franchise. Absolutely not. You can throw Scream in the trash can, recycle bin. Absolutely not. I honestly never really cared for Scream either. Socio So I'm like in the middle on that, like like if it was never a character, I'd be like, all right. My thing with Scream is that it's it's it's a different type of horror movie. It plays into the tropes a lot. It's it's more satire than it is horror, in my opinion. So it it for me it's hard to classify it as an actual horror. Like, yeah, it has a scary moment, it has a slasher moments, and technically you have to call it a horror, but it's way more satirical than it is horror. Would you cla classify Tales from the Hood of Horror? Yeah, I yeah. Yeah. I d I don't think it was like as super satirey. And you know, it was fun. It was also horror. Leprechaun in the hood? I knew you were gonna say that. I don't think so. I knew that was coming up next. I don't know. Because that's technically considered horror. With with this one I I kind of feel like one would think it was this whole Nah bro. I mean with five and six with five and six you have to kind of list it as like what could have been more than like it it's just the anomaly in the series. So where mostly everything else is bad and then you have one good, one okay. It's kinda like the anomaly, so it's it's hard to kinda place them when everything else is just so bad. Except for one. that's how I feel about it. It's more like what the fuck? But I d I don't know how you guys feel, but that that's how I All right. Yeah, pretty much five and six were the better ones. And other than the first first one was good too. It was the classic one. Yeah, dude, Loki dips the franchise, bro. All right, letterface. Hang it up, dude. Find another you know, meat shop we work at turn your life around, man. It's also hard work to work work in the meat meat department. I I you know No You know, maybe maybe he should work in the bakery department. I worked get a get a bakery job, dude. You know, go to Dallas or go to yeah, go to Dallas. Get a bakery job. I I did work in the Delhi cutting meats for a while, so it's you know, those machines are so sharp. Yeah, they local at the local coffee shop downtown, fine, bro. That shit is those blades are so sharp they can literally slice your finger off and you wouldn't even know it. Yeah, you wouldn't even feel it. You think you think Leatherface is a Houston guy or a Dallas kind of guy? Definitely not Houston. Did they ever say where it actually took place? I know it's probably like a fake a fake town, but Did they ever say like if it was, you know, like thirty miles south of Dallas or something like that? No, right? Says Austin. did not survive in Houston. Rock Royal Shot. Taylor in Granger and then let me see if I can find the sixth one. No, I mean like not where it was actually filmed, but like where they say in the movie. No, they didn't say. But they actually did shoot in Texas first, so that's good. I think at the minimum. Yeah. I can never been in Houston. I wanna go. I wanna skate Houston so bad. Alright, you guys have any final final thoughts for the sixth one? Best of the best of the franchise. Right. Best of the franchise. Probably we have faith in Pat. Yeah, I won't disagree with Pat. I just have a bias with the first with the first remake 'cause it's like it's my introduction to it, but I'd say it's like a top five horror origin story. Cause when they do horror origin stories, they never really come out good. Like you don't really get like a proper story when they do them. They always have to throw some extra shit in there. That just doesn't make sense. I probably put a top three actually origin. Horror origin. I just wish twenty five horror movie. Horror movie. Top twenty five? No. No, no, no, no. Twenty five horror movies? This is not in there? No. No, I would put a top three origin, like horror origin, but not a top twenty five horror movie. No. I put in Halloween Resurrection over this entire franchise. I I definitely can't put it in the twenty five. There's there's no way I could do that. Tricky. I actually would have to really think. but yeah, this is one of my favorite I think this is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. I I did really enjoy it though. Like I I did like it. I just don't think I could put it in the top twenty five. I actually probably f revisit these more than I do Steph Gurry 13th. For sure. For sure. I I I I'd probably know you love Freddy, but I I would definitely put the top I would definitely put the top three Freddy I'd put one through three. way ahead of this one. four isn't bad really either. No, but it it it has this moments where you start to see the change in four. which I d I did not like. yeah I'd have to think and we we're way over time. So that'll take for it'll take me a while to think. But I I definitely wouldn't put it top twenty five. There's there's no way. That's That's that's blasphemous, but all right. I'll let you rock with that. I'll c I'm gonna come up with a twenty five and then you're gonna look at me like yeah, okay, I understand. This guy's See, you you let your bias. No, no, no. No, not a bunch of elevated horror, sorry. You you always let your bias. Let your bias leak right through. But I love I love slashers, and this is a beautiful slasher film. It's gory. There's crazy kills. It's over the top. If you're gonna do that, I I would say the first one is a better slasher. Well, not the first one, the we're talking the remix. I would think the first remake is a better actual slasher than this one is. As far as slasher's way more graphic though. And all of the skills don't compare it to a three sixty no scope. I think this was a much better movie than the O three, but I don't think it was a better slasher than the O. Like straight slasher why? If we're talking just straight slasher. I thought the O three was much more of a We also skipped over the grandpa. He got his legs cut off because he got into the there was like the fight and then one leg just kinda got hit. He was like, All right, you're not gonna like this, Monty. So, you know, he does one and then he's like, That's sloppy. You even it up. And then she's like, Why'd you do that? Why'd you do that? He was the best character in the world. Best character in the whole film. Easy. that's right, 'cause he got shot. That's why he got one leg taken off and then he's like, that's terrible. He got shot in the leg. He had to save the leg. Motherfucker can even drink the soup. That's all right. He got some he got some shoulder for dinner and was okay. Yeah, that's f fricking wild, bro. Alright, so this is Texas Chainsaw the Beginning. I'm a fan. Justin's a fan and Pat is a fan. Although Well, I said I like this one best. Yeah. But the best horror character. I actually like this one as a movie. They didn't use utilize him the best, I will say. Maybe I'll watch that tonight as I go to bed. Well just for the hell of it. Just for the love of the game. The beginning. Just for the love of the game. Shit. No way. Alright. Well, lights out. Whites out. Lights out for Pat. That means we're rapping. So that means I'm home. All right. Are you all showing Tun the next time. Peace. Peace, bruv.
