Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. Playfake, go to roll right, jumpson off from
- 0:07Speaker 1: the right class to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off on
- 0:09Speaker 1: one tackler gets inside the forty down of the thirty
- 0:12Speaker 1: five yard line. Powered by seahawks dot Com map pump
- 0:16Speaker 1: fakes looking at the goal line, he throws it into
- 0:17Speaker 1: the end zone. Touchdown. Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpus with
- 0:21Speaker 1: a diving catching the end zone. A ten yard touchdown
- 0:25Speaker 1: reception for Bumpus, and the kid out of Washington State
- 0:28Speaker 1: has found himself a place on this team. Now here's
- 0:31Speaker 1: your host, NASA Chubby. Welcome into another edition of Hawks Hawk,
- 0:36Speaker 1: the Recap edition. Unfortunately, the Seahawks could not get it done,
- 0:39Speaker 1: falling to the Raiders in painful fashion in overtime at
- 0:43Speaker 1: Loumanfield on Sunday, losing forty to thirty four. It was
- 0:46Speaker 1: a crazy game. Defensively, the Seahawks gave up a ton
- 0:50Speaker 1: of yards. They were right there despite everything, had tons
- 0:52Speaker 1: of chances to win the game. Unfortunately just did not
- 0:56Speaker 1: go their way. So we'll waste no time get right
- 0:58Speaker 1: into the game. What had happened. See what had happened.
- 1:01Speaker 1: At first, what had happened was unhawked, Bump. If you
- 1:09Speaker 1: had no rooting interest in this game, it was one
- 1:11Speaker 1: hell of a football game. That was a good old
- 1:13Speaker 1: fashioned gamemm. Lots of points, lots of big plays. But uh,
- 1:19Speaker 1: we cheer and work for the Seahawks, So for us,
- 1:21Speaker 1: it wasn't that great. Nah, you know it was not.
- 1:24Speaker 1: It was not. Man you said it. I think to
- 1:25Speaker 1: open the post game, it was a kick in the gut.
- 1:27Speaker 1: It felt like you got hit and you just couldn't
- 1:29Speaker 1: get out. Because it was a game. He thought the
- 1:30Speaker 1: Seahawks on paper, we're gonna win. We talked about it
- 1:33Speaker 1: on the preview podcast. You know, the Raiders have a
- 1:35Speaker 1: lot of good players. They just weren't putting it together
- 1:37Speaker 1: at the end of games. That being said, I still
- 1:40Speaker 1: think the Seahawks should have won the game. Unfortunately didn't
- 1:42Speaker 1: go their way. But Bump thinks could not have started
- 1:44Speaker 1: any better. First play the game, Quandre Diggs been waiting
- 1:48Speaker 1: for it all season, gets a diving, leaping interception, gets up,
- 1:51Speaker 1: runs it back boom. Two plays later, ken Walker's in
- 1:55Speaker 1: the end zone. So you're thinking, okay, We're feeling good,
- 1:58Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Derek Carr had only had
- 2:00Speaker 1: had not thrown then interception in one hundred and twenty
- 2:03Speaker 1: seven straight pass attempts. Loominfield was rocking. Things were going good.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Up seven nothing and you thought they were gonna put
- 2:08Speaker 1: the hammer on the Raiders bump. But unfortunately the Raiders
- 2:11Speaker 1: came right back. Now Raiders would come back. They go
- 2:13Speaker 1: eleven play, seventy five yards and they hit a Mere
- 2:16Speaker 1: Abdullah on a nice little swing slash wheel rod I
- 2:20Speaker 1: think it was a swing route and then converted to
- 2:22Speaker 1: a wheel rod once he saw Diggs flying downhill. Nice
- 2:26Speaker 1: little throw by Derek Carr. And then after Seahawks put man,
- 2:30Speaker 1: Quandre Dicks got his second interception of the season and
- 2:33Speaker 1: the game, and you got a big house, Cody Barton man,
- 2:35Speaker 1: he got his hand on the football, riding the deep
- 2:38Speaker 1: cross by the tight end. Didn't get a touchdown, but
- 2:41Speaker 1: they got the points, made it ten seven Seahawks. Quandre Dicks,
- 2:45Speaker 1: may can we give him two interceptions? We've been waiting
- 2:47Speaker 1: for this man to get his thing going, and finally did.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Cody Barton has been playing better and better football the
- 2:51Speaker 1: last couple weeks in the passling. As he mentioned, after
- 2:54Speaker 1: a Raiders pump, the Seawks would drive down the field
- 2:56Speaker 1: again and convert on a fourth and one inside the ten.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Shmit to call for an legal man down field and
- 3:01Speaker 1: would settle for another field goal, making the score thirteen
- 3:04Speaker 1: to seven. Then, but the next two minutes were a
- 3:08Speaker 1: real bad scene for the Seahawks. Raiders would hit a
- 3:10Speaker 1: trick play flee flicker to matc Collins wide open down
- 3:13Speaker 1: the left sideline for thirty six yard touchdown from Derek Carr,
- 3:16Speaker 1: and the Raiders would jump ahead fourteen thirteen. All right,
- 3:19Speaker 1: the Hawks will get the ball back and then Gino
- 3:21Speaker 1: will get intercepted. He was trying to find Tyler Lockett
- 3:24Speaker 1: on this little deep cross and really, pairman just played
- 3:26Speaker 1: it well. I think they're in like a Tampa two
- 3:28Speaker 1: pairman drops to the middle of the field. Tyler Lockett
- 3:30Speaker 1: stops running, Gino throws a football. I'm not putting it
- 3:33Speaker 1: on Tyler Lockett either. I think either way that was
- 3:35Speaker 1: a horrible decision, but that's how the game goes sometimes.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Then the Raiders waste no time. The next play, a
- 3:41Speaker 1: nice little outside tossed his own type of look. They
- 3:44Speaker 1: get it to johnsh Jacobs one play, thirty yards twenty
- 3:47Speaker 1: one thirteen Raiders. Yeah, that was a really tough stretch,
- 3:50Speaker 1: scoring two touchdowns and under a minute essentially, But Geno Smith,
- 3:54Speaker 1: like he's done every single time this year, responds like
- 3:56Speaker 1: he usually does, responds with the seven play seventy five
- 4:00Speaker 1: yard drive ending with the thirty five yard touchdown to
- 4:02Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett, just floating it right in the red basket.
- 4:05Speaker 1: An absolutely dime from Geno Smith get the Seahawks back
- 4:08Speaker 1: in the game. Down one point twenty one, twenty, Raiders
- 4:11Speaker 1: would kick a field goal and then sewing drive and
- 4:13Speaker 1: go into the locker room up twenty four twenty. The
- 4:16Speaker 1: Hawk will start the second half with a bang going
- 4:18Speaker 1: seven play seventy five yards ending with a fourteen yard
- 4:21Speaker 1: run by Ken Walker. But honestly, you could have gave
- 4:23Speaker 1: that touchdown to every single man up front. Ken Lucas
- 4:26Speaker 1: was pulling him, Charles Cross, Damian Lewis, everyone was in
- 4:30Speaker 1: there pushing him into the end zone. That made to
- 4:32Speaker 1: score twenty seven twenty four, and you thought the Seahawks
- 4:34Speaker 1: were gonna have a little momentum there as they took
- 4:36Speaker 1: the lead. But as you know, the Raiders were never
- 4:38Speaker 1: going away. Yeah, the Raiders wo drive down the field again,
- 4:42Speaker 1: but settle for three and tie the game at twenty
- 4:44Speaker 1: seven to twenty seven. Then a couple of punts and
- 4:47Speaker 1: the Seahawks plit together a nice drive. You're feeling good
- 4:50Speaker 1: about at nine play sixty four yards and then there
- 4:53Speaker 1: is a fumble. Two familiar right, two games in a
- 4:56Speaker 1: row where you feel like things are starting to change
- 4:58Speaker 1: in the Seahawks fooming the ball. It was like a
- 5:00Speaker 1: concept going on in the backfield. I always put the
- 5:03Speaker 1: mess on the quarterback because you either apply the pressure
- 5:05Speaker 1: to pull the ball, are you sticking in the running
- 5:07Speaker 1: backs cut? They dropped the ball, fumble, Raiders recovery. Yeah,
- 5:11Speaker 1: that was a oh gosh, that was another huge play,
- 5:14Speaker 1: and that's something that the Seahawks typically haven't done. But
- 5:16Speaker 1: two weeks in a row they've really hurt themselves turning
- 5:18Speaker 1: the football over. On the ensuing drive, the defense would
- 5:21Speaker 1: stand up get a huge fourth down stop on a
- 5:24Speaker 1: questionable decision. I thought, with the Raiders running the football
- 5:27Speaker 1: like they were, to do an outside little toss play
- 5:29Speaker 1: and set it going up the middle. Worked out. Cody
- 5:31Speaker 1: Barton huge stop on that play and that would turn
- 5:35Speaker 1: into points, as Geno Smith would find Travis Homer for
- 5:37Speaker 1: a nice eighteen yard touchdown, making the score thirty four
- 5:40Speaker 1: twenty seven Hawks. We'll talk about that play specifically in
- 5:43Speaker 1: the film room. At that point, I was feeling good
- 5:45Speaker 1: at that point, right when that happened, I thought there
- 5:47Speaker 1: was no chance the Seahawks would lose that football game. Unfortunately,
- 5:51Speaker 1: bumped the Raiders. Answer back, Yep, they did what they've
- 5:54Speaker 1: been doing all day. Actually, this is a shootout, man.
- 5:56Speaker 1: They go ten play, seventy five yards, Derek Carr finds
- 5:59Speaker 1: IS tied in the back of the end zone, ties
- 6:01Speaker 1: the game at thirty four. Now it looked like it
- 6:05Speaker 1: was gonna be Gino's time, right two minutes on the
- 6:08Speaker 1: clot This is gonna be his moment. You drive the
- 6:10Speaker 1: ball down the field and get points. But there was
- 6:13Speaker 1: a play on second down I thought was suspect. Man.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I thought DK made a great catch on the sideline.
- 6:18Speaker 1: The referees looked at it for a long time. Man,
- 6:21Speaker 1: I could have sworn there was like a time limit
- 6:23Speaker 1: on how long they looked at plays, but I guess
- 6:25Speaker 1: they ignore that. Eventually they ended up saying that DK
- 6:28Speaker 1: did not catch the football and that kind of deterred
- 6:32Speaker 1: the whole vibe of that drive. Yeah, that was hard. Man,
- 6:35Speaker 1: We're thinking about it because they looked at it for
- 6:37Speaker 1: so long. I'm thinking, Okay, if it's taking this long,
- 6:39Speaker 1: then they're not gonna find, you know, in his beautiful evidence. Unfortunately,
- 6:42Speaker 1: that was not the case for the Seahawks. Gina was
- 6:45Speaker 1: sacked on third and five from midfield and man and
- 6:48Speaker 1: Travis Homer was going to be open there. That was tough.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So after that, Josh Jacobs in overtime bump as the
- 6:55Speaker 1: game goes overtime seals the deal eighty six yards to
- 6:59Speaker 1: the house. That was stuff because the Seahawks had opportunities
- 7:04Speaker 1: in overtime offensively, they didn't get it done and the the
- 7:06Speaker 1: Raiders miss a field goal. All that, but man, Josh
- 7:09Speaker 1: Jacob's mom, Holy smokes, that was one of the best
- 7:13Speaker 1: games you'll ever see from a running back. Ever. I
- 7:16Speaker 1: didn't even realize what I was watching at the time,
- 7:18Speaker 1: Like I knew he was having a day. But when
- 7:21Speaker 1: you look at the numbers, it really puts it in perspective.
- 7:24Speaker 1: The team, the Raiders overall, had five hundred and seventy
- 7:26Speaker 1: six yards. Josh Jacobs had himself a day that he's
- 7:30Speaker 1: a fourth player in Super Bowl era with three hundred
- 7:32Speaker 1: scrimmage yards and two touchdowns in the same game, the
- 7:35Speaker 1: first person to do that since who Ap in two
- 7:39Speaker 1: thousand and seven. He finished with three hundred three scrimmage
- 7:42Speaker 1: yards overall. That is a record for the Raiders franchise
- 7:46Speaker 1: rush for two twenty nine on thirty three carries, and
- 7:50Speaker 1: he let the team in receiving with seventy four yards
- 7:53Speaker 1: on six receptions. Sometimes guys just have a day, and
- 7:57Speaker 1: Josh Jacobs had one of those days and now realized
- 8:00Speaker 1: he's leading the league in russing right now with all
- 8:02Speaker 1: the stuff that's been going on with the Raiders, the injuries,
- 8:06Speaker 1: Derek Carr, new head coach, this guy's been putting together
- 8:10Speaker 1: a good season. Yeah. I mean, he came into the
- 8:12Speaker 1: game third in the NFL and rush yards, but he
- 8:14Speaker 1: was it was quiet. It was a quiet somehow nine
- 8:17Speaker 1: hundred yards and he was anything but quiet on Sunday,
- 8:21Speaker 1: just setting all kinds of records. I believe that was
- 8:22Speaker 1: a record for the Raiders and franchise history in terms
- 8:25Speaker 1: of scrimmage yards as well. So it was just it
- 8:28Speaker 1: was tough. It was tough. This yass could not get
- 8:30Speaker 1: it done, like we said following thirty forty to thirty
- 8:32Speaker 1: four to these Raiders. But there were some sort some
- 8:35Speaker 1: guys who made some plays, playmakers. We'll start with Geno
- 8:49Speaker 1: Smith twenty seven to thirty seven, three hundred and twenty
- 8:52Speaker 1: eight yards, two touchdowns, one interception. Also had five carries
- 8:56Speaker 1: for twenty two yards. This was Geno's third game passing
- 8:59Speaker 1: over three yards this season. His three hundred and twenty
- 9:02Speaker 1: eight passing yards is the third highest total in his career.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I've been updating the stat every week. He now has
- 9:07Speaker 1: nine games on multiple passing touchdowns in a game. He
- 9:10Speaker 1: only had seven those typing games in his first nine seasons.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And he also now has nineteen touchdown passes on the season.
- 9:16Speaker 1: So when you look at the box score, that's all
- 9:18Speaker 1: you can ask for from Gino. I mean, he he
- 9:21Speaker 1: did his thing. Unfortunately, I think there's some throws that
- 9:23Speaker 1: he'd like to have back. He mentioned the interception, there's
- 9:25Speaker 1: one that was nearly picked off in the back of
- 9:27Speaker 1: the end zone that got overturned. You had the mesh
- 9:30Speaker 1: point fumble, ken Walker. But what I love about Gino
- 9:34Speaker 1: is he mentioned in post game. He said, he's a
- 9:36Speaker 1: thumb guy, point the thumb right back at himself, and
- 9:38Speaker 1: he took blame for every single thing that happened in
- 9:41Speaker 1: that game. We know not all of it was his fault.
- 9:43Speaker 1: You play football, there's a lot of there's ten other
- 9:45Speaker 1: guys who in the field with you, so there's a
- 9:46Speaker 1: lot of other things that are involved in any given play.
- 9:50Speaker 1: But Gino just shows you to type a leader he
- 9:52Speaker 1: is that he stepped to the podium, you know when
- 9:53Speaker 1: it's hard to talk, You don't want to talk after
- 9:55Speaker 1: a loss, after a game, and he takes the blame,
- 9:57Speaker 1: wears it on himself and you can't ask for anything
- 10:00Speaker 1: from him, and he's still playing good football. And I
- 10:02Speaker 1: just think, you know, we talked about thinking that was
- 10:04Speaker 1: gonna be his time to lead the Seahawks on a
- 10:06Speaker 1: two minute drill kind of game winning drive. Yeah, unfortunately
- 10:09Speaker 1: didn't work out for the Seahawks. But he's gonna have
- 10:11Speaker 1: plenty other opportunities this season and I feel like he's
- 10:13Speaker 1: gonna come through. Yeah, Gino's gonna be fine. He's having
- 10:16Speaker 1: against season. That loss isn't on him, but that's what leaders, dude,
- 10:19Speaker 1: They step in front, they take all the bullets. I
- 10:21Speaker 1: just want Gina to wear a suit next game. I
- 10:23Speaker 1: feel like when he was wearing a suit, we won
- 10:25Speaker 1: on a lot of games. So let's go back to
- 10:28Speaker 1: a suit just one time. Get that good Mojoe back man.
- 10:32Speaker 1: DK Metcalf had eleven receptions for ninety yards. Should have
- 10:35Speaker 1: had twelve, but like we mentioned, he had a pass
- 10:37Speaker 1: that was our reception that was overturned garbage. Took them
- 10:40Speaker 1: like five minutes to figure it out, but it is
- 10:42Speaker 1: what it is. Now Metcalf has passed Steve Largent and
- 10:45Speaker 1: Darryl Jackson and now ranked second for the most receiving
- 10:48Speaker 1: yards and the players first four seasons in Seahawk history.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I mean, DK, when it's all said and done, man,
- 10:54Speaker 1: he might have every record that a that you can
- 10:58Speaker 1: have as a Seahawk as a receiver. He the crazy
- 11:02Speaker 1: thing is he he's death ling going to be in
- 11:04Speaker 1: second place. I know that for a fact because that's
- 11:07Speaker 1: where Tyler is right now. But when you look at
- 11:08Speaker 1: those record books, it's like Steve Largent and everybody else.
- 11:13Speaker 1: And yeah, granted DK is obviously on pace to to
- 11:17Speaker 1: to go on to that route, but Steve Largin's all
- 11:20Speaker 1: of Famer but DK, he's built different bump. As you
- 11:24Speaker 1: can see the way that he walks around. That's something
- 11:27Speaker 1: that can play a long time in this league. So
- 11:28Speaker 1: I hope you're right. Yeah, man, DK's on his way.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett had himself a day as well. Three reception,
- 11:36Speaker 1: six yight yards, one touchdown, a big touchdown, a response
- 11:41Speaker 1: touchdown right that was after that interception thrown by Gino.
- 11:44Speaker 1: They come back, drive down the field, get on the board. Um,
- 11:48Speaker 1: just love Tyler Lockett. Man. Yeah, I was talking to
- 11:50Speaker 1: somebody today, Stacey today, and I'm sending them out. His
- 11:53Speaker 1: game is sneaky, and it's like it's a game that's
- 11:56Speaker 1: built for the long run because it's not like he's
- 11:58Speaker 1: slowing down. He's still making different cool catches. Tyler Locke
- 12:02Speaker 1: is gonna play like ten to thirteen years in this
- 12:03Speaker 1: league easily. Yeah, Tyler. I mean, sneaky's the right word.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And because that's how his game is, that's why he
- 12:12Speaker 1: doesn't get the much of the love as he should
- 12:13Speaker 1: across the league. The guys should play the game, and
- 12:16Speaker 1: the guys who watch the game, the guys to really
- 12:17Speaker 1: study tape know how good Tyler is. But nationally, I
- 12:21Speaker 1: still think he's underrated just because he's unassuming. He's not
- 12:24Speaker 1: a big guy, he's not a me guy. He's not
- 12:26Speaker 1: flashy and all that stuff to certain people. But he's
- 12:29Speaker 1: a dog. As you know. Bump number sixteen Ken Walker.
- 12:32Speaker 1: He had two big touchdowns where alluded to a little earlier,
- 12:35Speaker 1: you know, getting pushed in with the offensive line. The
- 12:38Speaker 1: first touchdown in the first offensive possession, so he had
- 12:41Speaker 1: moments where he played really well. But you know, he
- 12:43Speaker 1: had fourteen carried for twenty six yards. Then unfortunately the
- 12:46Speaker 1: offensive line the run game just has not been able
- 12:48Speaker 1: to go in the last two weeks, a lot of
- 12:50Speaker 1: negative play. So hopefully this Seawston get that shirt up
- 12:53Speaker 1: next week. Yeah, it's nice for him to score two touchdowns,
- 12:59Speaker 1: but I will love to see like one hundred and
- 13:02Speaker 1: five on twenty carres twenty five cars in a touchdown
- 13:05Speaker 1: because that means you're just moving the ball down the field.
- 13:07Speaker 1: The run game is a threat. Heats take it seriously.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Quandre's six cackles, tow interceptions, two passes defended. He needs
- 13:13Speaker 1: one more intercession to become the only player in the
- 13:16Speaker 1: NFL to record at least three interceptions in each of
- 13:19Speaker 1: the past six seasons. You know what's funny about Quandre's
- 13:22Speaker 1: game Before the game or sometime during the week, he
- 13:25Speaker 1: tweeted out to guy who goes, God, just let me
- 13:27Speaker 1: touch the football this week. You know what I'm saying,
- 13:29Speaker 1: and uh, the big man answers. So big up Quandre
- 13:32Speaker 1: and his relationship with the man upstairs. Yeah, you know,
- 13:36Speaker 1: it's funny everyone always said with us saying, you know,
- 13:37Speaker 1: turnover is coming, bunches, I'm open. So because Quandre Dick
- 13:41Speaker 1: got two in the first quarter, and you know, it's
- 13:43Speaker 1: something we've been waiting for all seasons. Because Quandre has
- 13:46Speaker 1: had how many seasons in or I think five seasons
- 13:48Speaker 1: in a row at least three reception interceptions. So Quandre,
- 13:51Speaker 1: the Seahawks need him to take the ball away. They
- 13:53Speaker 1: need him, you know, in the middle of the field.
- 13:55Speaker 1: He's one of the best free safeties in the game.
- 13:57Speaker 1: So big up to Quandre. Hopefully he can keep that going.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Staying on defense, Jordan Brooks Man sixteen tackles when pass offended,
- 14:05Speaker 1: and he didn't have any crazy flashy plays, but he
- 14:09Speaker 1: just goes hard on every play. You know, sometimes you
- 14:12Speaker 1: can look at tackles you can say, okay, well, that
- 14:14Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily mean a lot. You know, they could be
- 14:16Speaker 1: a downfield this and that. But Jordan Brooks is playing well.
- 14:20Speaker 1: You know, the Seahawks up front seven has to get
- 14:22Speaker 1: their run fits kind of figured out. But for the
- 14:24Speaker 1: most part, Jordan Brooks is playing at a high level.
- 14:27Speaker 1: He's being more physical, he's being more decisive, you know,
- 14:29Speaker 1: in his reads and stuff. So like to see Jordan
- 14:31Speaker 1: Brooks getting after it there and then Cody Barton twelve
- 14:34Speaker 1: tackles one TfL and that fourth down stop and one
- 14:37Speaker 1: pass defended that ended up with a Quandre Digsy interception.
- 14:41Speaker 1: So those guys are playing better. It's just, you know
- 14:43Speaker 1: how it is, bump when it comes to run fits,
- 14:45Speaker 1: they just everyone has to be on the same page.
- 14:47Speaker 1: That's not just the defensive line, that's not just linebackers.
- 14:49Speaker 1: It's the safeties included. So everyone's got to do their job.
- 14:52Speaker 1: So hopefully those guys can kind of figure things out
- 14:55Speaker 1: and get this thing fixed. What happened to the the receiver roundup?
- 15:00Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about these past catchers. Man we
- 15:03Speaker 1: mentioned DK eleven catches ninety yards on fifteen targets. Tyler
- 15:07Speaker 1: Lockett had an off day when it comes to the
- 15:09Speaker 1: efficiency right. There are a couple of times Geno's looking
- 15:12Speaker 1: for him and he gets hit the balls in the dirt.
- 15:14Speaker 1: But he had three for sixty eight on seven targets.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Marquis Goodwin had three for forty eight a long of
- 15:21Speaker 1: twenty one. Travis Homer got into the end zone receiving
- 15:25Speaker 1: this time too for forty five one touchdown. Noah fam
- 15:28Speaker 1: three for thirty four, Uncle Will two for seventeen. Kinneb
- 15:31Speaker 1: Walker had one for thirteen, and DJ Dallas at two
- 15:34Speaker 1: for thirteen. Overall, this group twenty seven receptions, three hundred
- 15:38Speaker 1: twenty eight yards and two touchdowns. But at long of
- 15:41Speaker 1: thirty five, we need like a game with a long
- 15:44Speaker 1: of fifty fifty five sixty. You know, I'll get back
- 15:47Speaker 1: to that explosive play. Someone asked me today, They go,
- 15:50Speaker 1: is DK just a possession receiver? Now I go, na, man,
- 15:53Speaker 1: it can look like that because we don't have we
- 15:56Speaker 1: haven't had those explosive plays down the field. But they're coming.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Let's be patient, gonna get the ball to fourteen down
- 16:01Speaker 1: the field. They're trying to do it. I mean, it
- 16:03Speaker 1: has something to do with how defenses are playing him.
- 16:06Speaker 1: You know, if I'm playing the Seahawks in the secondary.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Whenever I'm playing, if I'm a safety, I'm seene where
- 16:10Speaker 1: fourteen's at, and I'm gonna play some cloud or sky
- 16:13Speaker 1: and I'm gonna be over the top. So DK is
- 16:16Speaker 1: a lot of things, and he's definitely more than just
- 16:19Speaker 1: a possession receiver. Let's flip over to that coach's corner.
- 16:23Speaker 1: We had talked about it earlier. Geno Smith finds Travis
- 16:26Speaker 1: Homer on eighteen year touchdown going up thirty four twenty seven.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Homers in the backfield, play fake home around on the
- 16:34Speaker 1: flat far side, hasn't turned up field? Ten fine touchdown, Shayhawks.
- 16:43Speaker 1: You want a great play called by Shane Walver and
- 16:46Speaker 1: eighteen yards out. Everybody thought and inside the handoff on
- 16:50Speaker 1: a third and one, but a little flip pass some
- 16:54Speaker 1: of the right flat and Homer up for us turns
- 16:57Speaker 1: up field from eighteen out there. Let's go on top
- 17:01Speaker 1: thirty three to twenty seven. Yeah. I like this man,
- 17:05Speaker 1: I like the call, like the design. It's third and one.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Everyone's expecting ken Walker to get this football right here.
- 17:12Speaker 1: They have him on a little offset look and you
- 17:14Speaker 1: got Travis Homer behind him. Ken Walker's off to the
- 17:18Speaker 1: right a little bit. I believe this is their twenty
- 17:21Speaker 1: two person. I don't think there's two tight end two
- 17:22Speaker 1: running backs in at this point right here, and they
- 17:25Speaker 1: fake their handoff to kin Walker up the gut, and
- 17:27Speaker 1: then it looks like Travis Homers is going to take
- 17:29Speaker 1: care of the backside. That's typically what you do, kind
- 17:31Speaker 1: of like a split zone type of look. Hand the
- 17:33Speaker 1: ball off to kin Walker going one way, and Travis
- 17:36Speaker 1: Homer takes her the backside of the end. But instead
- 17:38Speaker 1: of doing that, he releases out to the flat and
- 17:41Speaker 1: you have a scene by Kobe Parkinson that takes the
- 17:45Speaker 1: corner with him, all right, So that scene gets everybody deep.
- 17:48Speaker 1: You flip it out to Travis Homer in the flats
- 17:50Speaker 1: and the rest is him just getting busy making a
- 17:53Speaker 1: couple of guys. Miss she picked up a slight little
- 17:55Speaker 1: block right there. But I don't even know who that's eighteen?
- 17:58Speaker 1: Who's eighteen over there? Man? Is that team? Yea? Who
- 18:02Speaker 1: is that is that tread? Uh? Yeah? Tread well tread
- 18:05Speaker 1: elevated on game day? Okay, cool pixable block and he
- 18:09Speaker 1: gets into the end zone. So well designed play and
- 18:12Speaker 1: in the time to call it too clear run situation,
- 18:17Speaker 1: you're gotta get can walk up the football, Nope, you
- 18:20Speaker 1: get the other other running back the ball in the flats.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Like it. Man, You're right. It's a great play design.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And that just because given the situation a third and one,
- 18:28Speaker 1: knowing what the Seahawks like to do, just that little
- 18:31Speaker 1: Geno sell really selling the play action putting them ball out.
- 18:34Speaker 1: If you look at all the linebackers, everyone is preoccupied.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Takes a recept throughout the field. And that was just
- 18:40Speaker 1: enough time. You mentioned the scene by Koby Parkinson occupying
- 18:43Speaker 1: the corner. The safety is trying to get over the top.
- 18:45Speaker 1: He sees Homer, but that's a long way to go,
- 18:48Speaker 1: and like you say, Homer just gets busy. At the
- 18:50Speaker 1: end of the play gets finds a way to get
- 18:51Speaker 1: in the end zone. Love the play called by Shane Waldron.
- 18:55Speaker 1: And it just shows what they can do when they
- 18:56Speaker 1: have multiple tight ends on the field. They can be multiple.
- 18:59Speaker 1: They can do a lot of good things out there
- 19:00Speaker 1: on the field. So great pitch and catch, good run
- 19:02Speaker 1: by Travis Homer. And you know I want to say
- 19:04Speaker 1: about Travis Summer, we give him a lot of love
- 19:05Speaker 1: for his for his third downs and his past protection abilities,
- 19:11Speaker 1: he can catch the ball out of the backfield. He
- 19:12Speaker 1: might be the best catching receiver running back on this roster.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Oh dj I used to be a receiver. I know.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I'm just saying. When I see just he just looks explosive.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I just I wouldn't expect Maybe it's more because I
- 19:25Speaker 1: don't expect it from him, but when he's out there,
- 19:28Speaker 1: I just feel like, I don't know. I have a
- 19:29Speaker 1: lot of trust and faith in Travis, and he's looking
- 19:32Speaker 1: pretty good right now. And man, we got away from
- 19:35Speaker 1: this for four weeks and unfortunately we're back in it
- 19:38Speaker 1: for the second week in a row. Unfortunately, the clock
- 19:40Speaker 1: just ran out an taking them fine Huntley, They're just
- 19:47Speaker 1: gonna let the clock wind down. Beachs not even gonna
- 19:49Speaker 1: ball there taking that last time out. Yeah. Man, there's
- 19:53Speaker 1: a lot of reasons why the Seahawks did not get
- 19:55Speaker 1: it done on Sunday. Didn't come down and just a
- 19:57Speaker 1: couple of plays, you know, defensively, they couldn't get the
- 19:59Speaker 1: job done, allowing the third most yards in team history
- 20:02Speaker 1: with five seventy six. Josh Jacobs had the best game
- 20:04Speaker 1: of his life of three hundred and three yards from scrimmage.
- 20:07Speaker 1: They just couldn't get the stops that they needed. You know,
- 20:09Speaker 1: it was it was tough to see, especially because that's
- 20:11Speaker 1: not how Pete Carroll teams and anyone in this locker
- 20:13Speaker 1: room wants to play a football game. But unfortunately, they
- 20:16Speaker 1: just couldn't get the stops and couldn't couldn't contain Jacobs
- 20:19Speaker 1: the way they needed to to get a win. On Sunday. Yeah,
- 20:22Speaker 1: they took care of the vante and then Josh said,
- 20:24Speaker 1: don't worry, I'll pick up the slack. That's exactly what happened.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Were some plays, There were some plays made on defense.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Man Diggs had two interceptions, but couldn't really get the
- 20:33Speaker 1: Raiders off the field on third down either. They were
- 20:35Speaker 1: pretty good on third downs offensively. The Hogs still put
- 20:39Speaker 1: up a lot of points though, but they couldn't get
- 20:42Speaker 1: the job done, scoring one time in the final five possessions.
- 20:47Speaker 1: There was no rhythm or flow as a game got
- 20:51Speaker 1: later into the third into the fourth quarter. It was
- 20:54Speaker 1: almost like this offense had the hiccups and couldn't really
- 20:56Speaker 1: get going. Yeah that stuff when it was winning time. Unfortunately,
- 21:00Speaker 1: Seahaws couldn't get it done offensively after that. Home or touchdown.
- 21:03Speaker 1: The Seahawks really couldn't do anything to find a couple
- 21:05Speaker 1: of drives. It was a big tell the truth Monday
- 21:07Speaker 1: here at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center. Hawks gotta flush
- 21:10Speaker 1: it because they got the Rams coming up this week
- 21:14Speaker 1: and it's a huge battle in the NFC West. Yes,
- 21:16Speaker 1: the Rams haven't looked good, they've lost five in a row, bump,
- 21:19Speaker 1: but you always know they play the Seahawks tough. I
- 21:21Speaker 1: don't care if the Rams are playing with their water boys. Okay,
- 21:25Speaker 1: you gotta be ready to go because the Rams play
- 21:28Speaker 1: their best football against these guys. And I'm excited man,
- 21:32Speaker 1: because I think there are some games ahead the Baker win. So,
- 21:34Speaker 1: like you said, flush it, tell us you Monday. Let's
- 21:37Speaker 1: get to work on Tuesday. Yep, looking forward to it.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Hopefully the Seahawks, let me say it, can get it done.
- 21:41Speaker 1: We'll get you prepped for everything you need to know
- 21:43Speaker 1: about the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday, We're getting into
- 21:46Speaker 1: the preview podcast. Until then, he's Michael Bumpus on NASA Shobe.
- 21:50Speaker 1: This has been the recap edition of Hawk Talk. Talk
- 21:52Speaker 1: to you on Wednesday,
