- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi. It's Adam here and in today's.
- 0:43Episode of The Hypnotist. You're going to be listening to
- 0:46an addiction hypnosis session and it.
- 0:49Was really created? For a client that wanted to.
- 0:54Lose their desire for. Using cocaine, and it was very
- 1:01much from their perspective that they wanted to start with the
- 1:06desire element. And that's an important element
- 1:10because just using willpower and having the premise that you want
- 1:15the thing, but you can't have it quite often.
- 1:18Creates a polarity. Response of binging and craving
- 1:22because it's based on the idea of deprivation, whereas once the
- 1:27desire diminishes, then actually that can make it so that you
- 1:33don't even want that thing. And I've used this analogy a few
- 1:36times, but if you think of your favorite meal, whatever your
- 1:40favorite meal is, and then just imagine a few people spitting on
- 1:45that meal, your desire can go to.
- 1:47Disgust rapidly. And then it takes no willpower
- 1:51whatsoever not to eat that meal because you no longer want it.
- 1:57And also if you know a vegan, for example, quite often vegans
- 2:01have very specific ideas about what meat and the meat industry
- 2:07means to them. So if it's.
- 2:10Linked to cruelty, or if it's linked to even the idea of
- 2:14murder, then they don't need any.
- 2:16Willpower not. To eat meat because how they
- 2:20think about meat means that it's just not desirable for them.
- 2:25And it's these principles that are linked to the idea of
- 2:29cocaine. And this particular client knew
- 2:33that it would. Have Health?
- 2:35Consequences. They knew that it would.
- 2:37Have issues that could relate to their.
- 2:40Finances and relationships and and all different things and
- 2:46they didn't want those things. So it was framed almost as what
- 2:51had happened so far was almost a bit of a near miss and with
- 2:56those new connotations connected to it.
- 2:59The goal? Was to bring the desire.
- 3:02So it just. Was.
- 3:03No longer desirable. If you're listening to this and
- 3:06you. Have an addiction?
- 3:08And it doesn't have to be cocaine.
- 3:10It may be something else and you just don't want that anymore.
- 3:14One of the definitions of addictions is that you can't
- 3:19just stop when you want to. So if you've struggled with
- 3:22something, whatever that thing is, and you feel like you can't
- 3:25get a hold of it, then you're not alone because everyone that
- 3:29has a defined version of an addiction also can't change that
- 3:35thing. That's why finding someone that
- 3:37can help. From the outside.
- 3:39Is normally quite useful to change that, so if there is
- 3:42anything you want to change particularly.
- 3:45If it is. A substance of some kind, and I
- 3:47would include alcohol, nicotine, and even sugar in that.
- 3:53Then it's worth scheduling that free consultation call with me
- 3:56to explore whether or not I could be a.
- 3:58Hypnotherapist to help you have that future that you want.
- 4:01For now, though, find a quiet. Comfortable place where you
- 4:04won't be disturbed. Relax.
- 4:06And enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 5:04you breathe in, breathe in a calm, relaxing breath, and as
- 5:12you exhale, just allow any feelings of worry, stress, or
- 5:18tension to feel like it's leaving your body in your
- 5:23outward breath. Breathing in that resourceful
- 5:29relaxation and continuing to exhale that tension.
- 5:39Notice that when your eyes are closed, you're able to give more
- 5:45of your attention to the sound of my voice.
- 5:50So maybe your eyes are already closed, or maybe on the next
- 5:57exhale, allow your eyes to just feel so heavy, the eyelids
- 6:06naturally going down, enabling you to amplify your imagination.
- 6:19The moment your senses stop evaluating the outside world,
- 6:28they amplify your ability to navigate your internal world, a
- 6:36world of memories, thoughts, ideas, and possibilities.
- 6:42And it's in this place where profound changes take place
- 6:50almost effortlessly. So as you breathe in and breathe
- 6:58out, notice how your body relaxes and your imagination
- 7:05awakens. And I want you to use the power
- 7:10of your imagination to imagine a beautiful spa in Mexico.
- 7:18I want you to imagine what it would be like to be in that spa,
- 7:23wearing whatever clothing is appropriate for you to fully
- 7:28enjoy that spa. And maybe the air is warm, maybe
- 7:34there's a scent or a smell in the air.
- 7:40Perhaps there's a sound of water, perhaps the movement of
- 7:46water like trickles or fountains or bubbles coming from nearby
- 7:55jets of water. I want you to use the power of
- 8:02your imagination to imagine a steam room.
- 8:08But this is no ordinary steam room.
- 8:12This is a steam room where every droplet of steam there in the
- 8:20air is vapour contains powerful resources.
- 8:26So as you breathe in those resources that are just floating
- 8:30in the air, you allow yourself to feel relaxed, calm,
- 8:36confident, connected. And as you exhale, anything that
- 8:43is undesirable or unuseful feels like it leaves your body in the
- 8:50outward breath. And that may be tension or
- 8:54fears, loneliness or concerns. Just allow that to leave your
- 9:00body. As you feel the warmth of the
- 9:04steam room, breathing in the vapour of resourcefulness, I
- 9:11want you to get a sense that this is healing your lungs,
- 9:16cleansing you from the inside. And I wonder if in that warm
- 9:26steam room, you allow your muscles to relax, your breath to
- 9:32deepen, and allow your body to sink into a state of pure bliss,
- 9:41calmness and tranquility. Maybe the steam around you
- 9:47creates a dreamy, almost surreal detachment and you alternate
- 9:54from time in this steam room to a freezing cold plunge pool.
- 10:01This is a plunge pool of invigoration.
- 10:06As you go from hot to cold, feel the coldness activate every cell
- 10:11in your body, giving you energy, focus, clarity and the
- 10:19alternating temperatures of hot and cold heighten this sensation
- 10:25of clarity and relaxation like a pendulum, feeling calm and
- 10:31relaxed and then energetic and alert.
- 10:36And this contrast of alertness and relaxation guides you into a
- 10:42state of concentrated relaxation, like a
- 10:48disassociation from the external world, where each shift between
- 10:54the pools and then the steam room and back to the plunge
- 10:58pools enables your mind to drift further, deeper, until all that
- 11:06remains is your inner awareness, an awareness that is completely
- 11:12open to a positive change. As you continue this process of
- 11:23steam room to plunge ball and back and forth, feel yourself
- 11:28becoming weightless, where your mind detaches from old patterns,
- 11:36where you start to float in a space of endless possibility.
- 11:43And maybe with each breath you go deeper, deeper into that
- 11:49state of relaxation. And I'll countdown from 12:50.
- 11:54But at this point, place yourself somewhere else in the
- 11:56spa. No longer the steam room, no
- 11:59longer the plunge pool, maybe just warm relaxing water.
- 12:06And as I countdown from 12:50, you will feel yourself going
- 12:11even deeper to that place where change happens. 10 That's it.
- 12:20Deeper down now. 98 drifting. 76 deeper still. 54 getting closer
- 12:29to that place. Some people call it hypnosis or
- 12:34deep relaxation or something else.
- 12:38Three and two and then one. And I wonder if you could
- 12:44imagine being in a state of deep trance, where your subconscious
- 12:50is ready to release any behaviours, thoughts or ideas
- 12:55that no longer serves you. Spending time in the steam room
- 13:05prompts you to remember maybe a time when you used to vape.
- 13:13I want you to think back not to a time of vaping, but a time
- 13:16where you learned that vaping was linked to some form of
- 13:20illness or lung disease. Maybe it was an online article
- 13:25or a video, but remember that moment where something that was
- 13:30pleasurable just had new information attached, and then
- 13:36the desirable, pleasurable thing lost all of its appeal.
- 13:43And maybe you remember the shock or realization of discovering
- 13:50that something that once was seen as harmless had the
- 13:55potential to cause real, lasting consequences.
- 14:02Feel that you're back in that body at the very moment when you
- 14:05made that realization, that sudden awareness.
- 14:10It changed how you felt about it, where your desire shifted,
- 14:16because now you could no longer separate the action from its
- 14:22effect. I want you to get a sense that
- 14:29something that was once pleasurable can become
- 14:33undesirable quickly. I want you to think of your
- 14:38favorite meal. Perhaps a steak cooked in the
- 14:42exact way you like it, mashed potatoes, vegetables at the
- 14:49right temperature, served perhaps in a very desirable way
- 14:57on a nice plate, a table with a cloth, nice cutlery.
- 15:03And you could feel desire at just thinking about that meal.
- 15:08But then imagine that it wouldn't take too much for
- 15:13something to happen to make that desirable meal undesirable.
- 15:19Maybe you could imagine someone spitting onto the meal, onto the
- 15:22plate, onto the steak, or perhaps someone putting some
- 15:28kind of flavouring that you dislike, a particular sauce or
- 15:32spice or something else. Maybe you could even imagine
- 15:36someone putting bits of flaky skin there on the meal, or
- 15:41perhaps something smelly, disgusting, or even poisonous
- 15:48that all it takes is to add something to something desirable
- 15:53and it can lose its appeal immediately.
- 16:00So imagine that steak with those added ingredients and notice
- 16:07compulsion and desire has changed to aversion and
- 16:12revulsion. What was once desired is now
- 16:17disgusting. And notice just how quickly that
- 16:22happened. And in the same way that vaping
- 16:29changed how it felt for you. And a delicious meal can become
- 16:34disgusting quickly. Your mind now opens to a new
- 16:39understanding of cocaine, and perhaps you allow yourself to
- 16:46fully grasp a reality that the action is not separate from the
- 16:55consequences. But perhaps what once felt like
- 17:00a thrill now has the idea that it could carry a cost that is
- 17:05just too high, too risky. And just as you lost that desire
- 17:11for vaping, the truth about Coke begins to shift your
- 17:17perspective. Now I want you to imagine there
- 17:24in that warm water of the spa, that you start to imagine a
- 17:30future. I want you to imagine a future
- 17:34where cocaine remains a part of your life, partying and then
- 17:42continuing to use perhaps for days after.
- 17:46And I want you to imagine stepping into that version of
- 17:50you. But imagine it's six months from
- 17:52now, 12 months from now, maybe even five years from now.
- 17:59Feel how your body has changed, the impact it's had on your
- 18:05health, your skin. Perhaps you can evaluate what
- 18:14it's cost you financially, emotionally, physically, and
- 18:19also with your mental health. Maybe there's clues around your
- 18:25nose or your palate. But let's go to a place of
- 18:30undesirable possibility. I want you to imagine not what
- 18:37will happen, but what could happen five years from now.
- 18:44What if using cocaine led to a slippery slope of undesirable
- 18:50consequences? What if it led to harder, more
- 18:54corrosive drugs? Scan your body and look for
- 19:01clues of damage, perhaps around your nose or the upper part of
- 19:06your mouth. Maybe corrosion.
- 19:10Maybe there's a smell. Maybe there's pain somewhere in
- 19:14your body. Maybe you've had a medical check
- 19:18and something is happening to one of your internal organs.
- 19:24Maybe it's taking its toll on your mind and your perceptions.
- 19:29What if there's more paranoia, moments where you can't
- 19:33differentiate between reality and your imagination?
- 19:41What if those delusions or hallucinations get terrifying?
- 19:49Maybe you can imagine feeling the weight of money that's been
- 19:53wasted, something where you were paying to corrode and erode your
- 20:00body. Imagine what that money could
- 20:04have been used for to build a life of adventure, a family,
- 20:13Something that could leave a legacy, but instead get the
- 20:20sense that it's gone and the only clues that it ever existed
- 20:25is the damage. It's caused your body, your
- 20:28mind, perhaps even the lost possibilities of something you
- 20:35would have truly valued. Feel that regret.
- 20:43Amplify that regret. See the opportunities that were
- 20:48lost. Maybe relationships that were
- 20:52fraying. Maybe it led to some damage to
- 20:56your business or the way your family members perceive you.
- 21:04Maybe it led to relationship choices that were more about
- 21:07gratification than connection. What did it cost you?
- 21:15Go five years more into the future, 10 years from today, and
- 21:19feel all the things that could have happened.
- 21:25What if it led to the destruction of your income?
- 21:31What if your sense of hygiene or personal pride just went all the
- 21:36way down? What if coke led to something
- 21:40worse, more destructive, like crack cocaine?
- 21:43And maybe imagine looking in a mirror and seeing missing teeth,
- 21:51skin with acne, missing fingernails.
- 21:57Allow your mind to take you to somewhere.
- 21:59Dark not because. It will happen, but just because
- 22:05it could happen, there are many people in prisons or living on
- 22:11the street that didn't end up there through choice.
- 22:17It just became a chain reaction that may be linked to doing
- 22:22something while under the influence.
- 22:26I want you to get a sense that all of this is avoidable.
- 22:33The shame, the fear, the regret, attempts at blackmail or
- 22:38extortion, missed opportunities. You can avoid it all.
- 22:46This is just a pathway, one of many possibilities.
- 22:54I want you to get a sense that you get to avoid all of these
- 23:00unfortunate possibilities. Damage to health, damage the
- 23:04quality of your life, damage to what could have been.
- 23:11Can imagine going all the way backwards, like everything's in
- 23:14rewind, going back to that spa and instead allow yourself to
- 23:21explore a different future, Something where from that point
- 23:28forwards the idea or thought of coke was just spoiled, no longer
- 23:36desirable, felt disgusting, tarnished, tainted, unpleasant
- 23:43in some way. In fact, think of coke in the
- 23:48way that it makes you feel a sense of revulsion or disgust,
- 23:54like someone was forcing you to eat vomit.
- 23:59Connect that to the thought of buying or using cocaine and
- 24:02just. Harness that.
- 24:04Feeling of revulsion, unpleasantness.
- 24:09And what if that was a catalyst for a future where cocaine had
- 24:14no hold over you at all? Imagine seeing yourself free.
- 24:21Maybe it's three months, six months, a year from now.
- 24:27You're making new friendships, new connections.
- 24:31Maybe imagine yourself in a relationship that you feel has a
- 24:35future. See your body looking strong,
- 24:39full of energy, your mind sharp, clear, fully present in every
- 24:45moment. See yourself with real
- 24:49connections, filled with trust and meaning.
- 24:54And then step into that future just to take it for a test drive
- 24:58that you've been a year or two or three years, completely free
- 25:04of any cocaine use. Experience the feeling of
- 25:09freedom, of joy, of liberation, mental clarity.
- 25:15That paranoia is gone. Instead, it's full of hope and
- 25:18optimism and just a sense that things are going well.
- 25:24Imagine being in a relationship with someone that you want to be
- 25:27with forever and feel that nothing would make you sacrifice
- 25:33that. I want you to get a sense that
- 25:37everything feels better and you can remember a time when you
- 25:42used to use, but it feels like a different version of you, that
- 25:46that version of you doesn't exist anymore.
- 25:48And then perhaps go five years, even 10 years in the future,
- 25:54maybe you could imagine yourself being a father.
- 26:00I want you to get a sense that there is something about this
- 26:05future that really appeals, that connects.
- 26:12And then imagine having all of these things that you value, a
- 26:17thriving business, a wonderful relationship, a happy family.
- 26:23And imagine someone offering you a line of coke.
- 26:26Then when you have all of these wonderful things and the price
- 26:32of that line of coke is to lose everything that you now have,
- 26:39the thriving business, the happy family, the loving wife, you
- 26:43feel that you would lose it all just with that one line of coke.
- 26:49And notice the price is way too high.
- 26:57And based on that same logic, it loses its appeal all the way
- 27:05back in the moment, because that impedes your ability to seek
- 27:13what you truly desire. Not gratification and not
- 27:18pleasure, but real joy and real happiness.
- 27:26To experience the joy of true freedom, the peace of knowing
- 27:31that your mind and body are yours, untainted, unharmed, and
- 27:38the sense of fulfilment that comes from building a future
- 27:40where you are master of your own destiny.
- 27:46A destiny of happiness, stability, connection and
- 27:50success. And then rewind all the way back
- 27:55to the present, no longer in the spa, but in your body, in the
- 27:59here and now. And with all of this awareness
- 28:03of two alternative futures, give yourself permission to make a
- 28:10choice. A choice to release cocaine.
- 28:16The let it be a part of your past rather than your present
- 28:18and future. The let it fade into your
- 28:23history, into something irrelevant, unwanted,
- 28:29undesirable, and unnecessary. Feel that compulsion dissolve
- 28:36and replaced with a deep, unwavering aversion.
- 28:42It's almost the idea of It disgusts you as you imagine
- 28:45corroded skin and tissue, pain and embarrassment and shame.
- 28:53And every time you think of even the idea of buying or using,
- 28:58notice how the feelings of disgust and disinterest grow
- 29:01stronger. Or you can choose to carry on,
- 29:10to carry on on the path that you're already on.
- 29:14There's no obligation to make a change.
- 29:17You can tell yourself it's harmless.
- 29:20Tell yourself you've got it under control.
- 29:23It's no big deal that you'll change one day knowing that
- 29:30these are the stories that keep you trapped.
- 29:34So allow yourself to make that choice to release it or
- 29:39continue. And if you choose to continue,
- 29:44notice that thoughts of all those things you could be
- 29:48missing out on or all of those problems in the future you could
- 29:52be heading towards seem to get louder, more vivid, more
- 29:57disgusting than if you make that choice.
- 30:02Every time you make a choice to no longer consider, use or even
- 30:11be in the places where it's a possibility, the pride, the joy
- 30:17that you feel of becoming that version of you that you truly
- 30:20desire to be will give you wonderful feelings of pride and
- 30:26satisfaction, accomplishment. And that becomes the new way of
- 30:30getting your dopamine. Allow yourself to give yourself
- 30:37permission to embrace the vision of your best future and to
- 30:43unlock the emotions, the desires and beliefs that steer you
- 30:48towards a life of health, wealth, love and happiness.
- 30:54A life that is truly yours. Imagine floating up from that
- 30:59spa and returning to the here, the now, the present.
- 31:03Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 31:06nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 31:09wiggle your toes and really get a sense of being in the here and
- 31:12the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 31:18Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8 open your
- 31:27eyes. Open your eyes 910 Wide awake,
- 31:31Wide awake. Wide awake.
