- 0:03Every time I talk about the WFP,
- 0:06the haters come out in the comments.
- 0:08We're going to talk about it today on
- 0:12the show.
- 0:13Yeah, let's go.
- 0:26I love the chase and the hunt,
- 0:27and I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:29I always take what I want,
- 0:30and I always give it one hundred.
- 0:32Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:33Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:35I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:36Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:38Now wake up!
- 0:39It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:42Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:44friend to me.
- 0:45What's going on, everybody?
- 0:48Train Tulliv says it's lunchtime!
- 0:50It most certainly is.
- 0:55I just need to add that to the
- 0:56soundboard so I don't have to do it
- 0:58every time.
- 0:59There's so many things we could put on
- 1:01there.
- 1:02I know we talked about it Wednesday,
- 1:03but like, we really need the, the more,
- 1:05you know, like visual,
- 1:07be able to run across the screen every
- 1:08now and again,
- 1:09that's going to be fantastic.
- 1:11Yeah.
- 1:12Yeah.
- 1:12I, um, in my head,
- 1:14I have this thought of like,
- 1:16you remember the old Flintstones cartoon
- 1:17and how it started off with like the
- 1:19whistle blowing and Fred's line sliding
- 1:22down the tail.
- 1:23Like it doesn't that say lunchtime to you?
- 1:30Yeah.
- 1:31As somebody who used to run a crane
- 1:33at one hundred percent.
- 1:34Yes, that is a thousand.
- 1:36Yes.
- 1:36You know,
- 1:37it's wild as my best friend here used
- 1:38to run a crane.
- 1:41I must be attracted to crane operators,
- 1:43man.
- 1:46That was my job.
- 1:47Before that was my job,
- 1:49I absolutely enjoyed the shit out of it.
- 1:50But where I was at before I came
- 1:54to start doing this,
- 1:55there was no possibility of me,
- 1:57or I may say no,
- 1:58very little possibility of me ever
- 2:00advancing.
- 2:00I was just going to be doing the
- 2:02exact same thing over and over again for
- 2:06however long I wanted to be there,
- 2:07really and truly.
- 2:07And I was like...
- 2:11It's amazing because the travel that crane
- 2:14operators have to do.
- 2:16Sometimes.
- 2:17Because he helped build the Brown Stadium
- 2:21that's up now.
- 2:23He got sent all over Ohio and West
- 2:26Virginia and all that for different
- 2:29operations.
- 2:30So when I was...
- 2:33I was driving pylons before,
- 2:34so basically doing deep foundations for a
- 2:37while.
- 2:38And I learned how to run the cranes.
- 2:39So I can drive various places in Baton
- 2:42Rouge, not a whole lot,
- 2:43but around New Orleans.
- 2:45And I do it to my wife all
- 2:45the time.
- 2:46Whenever we come by, I'm like,
- 2:47I drove to Posse for that.
- 2:48I drove to Posse for that.
- 2:49I drove to Posse for that.
- 2:50And she does not give a flying shit
- 2:53one way or another.
- 2:55But I'm just like, I remember doing it.
- 2:57I drove to Posse for that.
- 2:58I drove to Posse for that.
- 2:59I drove to Posse for that.
- 3:01So there's a lot of that kind of
- 3:03stuff that goes on.
- 3:04Good stuff.
- 3:04Sean in Oregon, quote of the day,
- 3:06I must be attracted to crane operators.
- 3:08Go ahead and clip that.
- 3:11Megan,
- 3:11my husband operated a forklift once.
- 3:13It was pretty hot.
- 3:17Good to know.
- 3:18Good to know.
- 3:19That's exciting right there.
- 3:23That is exciting.
- 3:26Yeah.
- 3:26Yeah.
- 3:26My buddy, my best friend here in Ohio,
- 3:28he...
- 3:30he actually got put into a rogue
- 3:32commercial.
- 3:33Oh, you know,
- 3:35the rogues here and they were looking for
- 3:38like everyday men who did a job and,
- 3:43um, and, uh,
- 3:46Uh,
- 3:47and Crossfitted and they wanted to film
- 3:49kind of that and make a commercial out
- 3:51of it.
- 3:51And, and he got picked.
- 3:54And so they went to the gym.
- 3:56I used to go to shred CrossFit,
- 3:59filmed him there.
- 4:00And then they went to his crane operator
- 4:02office and filmed him just,
- 4:05it was a rainy day,
- 4:06so they couldn't do the outdoor filming.
- 4:07So they only did like indoor stuff,
- 4:09but yeah, he was in a commercial.
- 4:12That's cool.
- 4:13And I'll all, I'll try to find it.
- 4:16i think it's still out on out on
- 4:19youtube i'm in the background of the hype
- 4:25video for the uh the legends put out
- 4:29yesterday about us being thirty days out
- 4:32you see me with i think this hat
- 4:34on as a matter of fact in my
- 4:35glasses watching
- 4:39One of my best friend's wife and coach
- 4:42go bananas and yelling at him.
- 4:44It's pretty exciting.
- 4:46Yeah.
- 4:47I can't remember what it was called.
- 4:57But anyway,
- 4:59hopefully by the end of the show,
- 5:00I'll find it.
- 5:04Didn't know we were going to talk about
- 5:05this.
- 5:07Well, to be fair,
- 5:08that's usually why I'm here.
- 5:09So yeah.
- 5:13Hey,
- 5:13you're here when the news is slow and,
- 5:17um, this is so dumb.
- 5:20I hate YouTube search.
- 5:22I hate the United States post office.
- 5:29Found it, man.
- 5:33Let's show it.
- 5:34So this is, this is my best friend.
- 5:35He, uh,
- 5:37and his rogue commercial.
- 5:47When one man, for whatever reason,
- 5:50has the opportunity to lead an
- 5:52extraordinary life,
- 5:55he has no right to keep it to
- 5:57himself.
- 6:04Welding on the block for no reason,
- 6:05all right?
- 6:12So yeah, they just wanted the sparks.
- 6:14So he was just hitting metal to make
- 6:17it work.
- 6:17You generally don't weld on the block.
- 6:26Ramirez wants to know what's for lunch at
- 6:29one of these right now.
- 6:33Yeah, I don't know what's for lunch, man.
- 6:35I just finished up all my chicken breast
- 6:37yesterday.
- 6:38I do have some like fajita chicken with
- 6:40some peppers and onions.
- 6:42Maybe I'll put that over some rice.
- 6:44Sounds kind of good.
- 6:45I mean, I say that.
- 6:48That's what I'm having right now,
- 6:49but that's what I had as well.
- 6:51Chicken breast with butter sauce.
- 6:56I love Indian food, Thai food,
- 6:57all that good stuff.
- 6:58That's what I've been eating all week.
- 7:01over some gluten-free only because there's
- 7:04only two ingredients in it uh fusilli
- 7:07pasta because i was tired of eating rice
- 7:10which takes a while for me to be
- 7:11tired of eating rice so that sounds it
- 7:16was it's pretty good i said i told
- 7:20blair my uh my nutrition coach i was
- 7:23like
- 7:23Okay.
- 7:24If I want to eat pasta.
- 7:25And she was like, she started laughing.
- 7:27She said, here, like one of these.
- 7:30She said,
- 7:30it doesn't have to be gluten-free,
- 7:31but as long as it's got less than
- 7:32ten ingredients on it,
- 7:33you should be good to go.
- 7:34And I was like,
- 7:36just worried about how it was going to
- 7:36affect my stomach because I've been eating
- 7:38rice and just rice.
- 7:41Every once in a while,
- 7:41I eat bread for so long.
- 7:45Mike DeVito ate chicken breast, rice,
- 7:47and broccoli every meal,
- 7:48and after one million times,
- 7:50it still tastes like garbage,
- 7:52but I'm too lazy to be creative.
- 7:55At least you're healthy lazy.
- 7:58Yeah.
- 7:58Could be worse.
- 8:00Could be worse.
- 8:01Could be John Young going to get
- 8:02McDonald's for the forty-eighth time.
- 8:05Yeah.
- 8:05Ramirez, Joseph Ramirez,
- 8:07making your own pasta is the way to
- 8:09go.
- 8:10Joseph, I can cook,
- 8:12but there's no way on God's green earth
- 8:14I'm making pasta.
- 8:16No, I don't know.
- 8:19Someone donated us Chick-fil-A since our
- 8:21city doesn't want to pay us,
- 8:22so I'm holding out for that since I
- 8:24never eat it.
- 8:27Someone doesn't want to pay you.
- 8:29I don't know what's going on.
- 8:30Yeah, that sounds kind of...
- 8:36I would probably be eating Chick-fil-A
- 8:37either tonight or tomorrow morning.
- 8:39Probably tomorrow at some point.
- 8:43We had the... So...
- 8:46Normally, my week's pretty solid, right?
- 8:48Like, training in the morning,
- 8:50training in the afternoon,
- 8:51work during the day, coach on Wednesdays.
- 8:55That's my rest day.
- 8:55Come on here, whatever.
- 8:57I went on Jamison and started playing
- 9:00softball.
- 9:02So this week was her last regular season
- 9:05game was on Monday night.
- 9:08Tuesday was fairly normal.
- 9:09So Monday, like train, work, softball.
- 9:13Wednesday,
- 9:13she's also been doing CCD classes.
- 9:15So Wednesday they had their first
- 9:17reconciliation.
- 9:18So Wednesday was coach.
- 9:21Come on here.
- 9:23First reconciliation,
- 9:24which we don't really do stuff during the
- 9:25week.
- 9:27Last night.
- 9:28So my son's at LSU.
- 9:29He joined the LSU concert band.
- 9:33They had their concert last night.
- 9:35Jamison had her first game of their fall
- 9:38tournament last night.
- 9:39So Jennifer's in bad rooms.
- 9:42I'm at softball.
- 9:42Like,
- 9:44we got all – it's just been bananas.
- 9:46We got another game tonight.
- 9:47If they win,
- 9:48we play at ten-twenty tomorrow.
- 9:49Like, it's – we have not stopped.
- 9:52And the funny – I say the funny
- 9:53thing,
- 9:54there's more stuff that could –
- 9:57there's more stuff going on that we should
- 10:00be a part of or could be a
- 10:01part of but can't because we're doing
- 10:02because we got softball i used to it's
- 10:05literally the has been the busiest week of
- 10:07our entire lives it's insane when my
- 10:12daughter was in high school she was part
- 10:13of the the most popular marching band in
- 10:17the area and they got invited to
- 10:19everything and like it took up dude all
- 10:25of our time
- 10:27Brody did March of Man all the way
- 10:28through high school.
- 10:29And then she goes off to college,
- 10:32and all of a sudden,
- 10:33my wife and I are looking at each
- 10:34other like, what the hell do we do?
- 10:39And you've put off friends because you're
- 10:41like,
- 10:41I can't come out with you guys tonight
- 10:43because we've got to go to this band
- 10:44thing,
- 10:44or we've got to go to this choir
- 10:46thing.
- 10:47And then your daughter leaves,
- 10:48and you're like, well,
- 10:50now there's crickets because everybody
- 10:51stopped asking you.
- 10:52Yeah.
- 10:52You just assume that you can't.
- 10:57And you're trying to figure it all out
- 10:58again.
- 11:00Marching band was insane.
- 11:03People don't realize how much goes into
- 11:05that.
- 11:05But it starts in the summer and goes
- 11:09all the way through.
- 11:10I mean, shit,
- 11:12we ran all the way through February,
- 11:15I want to say, January,
- 11:16something like that.
- 11:16That's when state was around here.
- 11:19It's a lot.
- 11:21Football games on Friday night,
- 11:23band competition on Saturday.
- 11:27Megan,
- 11:27I volunteered to coach my son's volleyball
- 11:29team.
- 11:29It has taken over our lives.
- 11:31Thankful it's over next week.
- 11:33Yeah.
- 11:34Don't be, don't be so thankful though.
- 11:36Like,
- 11:37like love it because it goes by fast.
- 11:41And then when it's gone, then you're like,
- 11:42what, what do I do with my life?
- 11:44And what's crazy is my daughter graduated
- 11:46in twenty nineteen.
- 11:48She goes off to college.
- 11:49My wife and I start like going out
- 11:51on Friday nights as like
- 11:55between the two of us.
- 11:57And then we get six months into that
- 11:59and the world shuts down for COVID.
- 12:04And we're like, what the hell?
- 12:07And then our daughter sent back to us
- 12:10and she's miserable because you can't be
- 12:11at college.
- 12:13And oh, it was horrible, man.
- 12:15What a terrible time that was.
- 12:18So yeah,
- 12:19cherish the moments you get to spend with
- 12:21your kids doing what they love.
- 12:27Absolutely.
- 12:27Yeah.
- 12:27Prathvet says that.
- 12:30We have five kids,
- 12:31so I have many more years of it.
- 12:32Yeah.
- 12:34I had one.
- 12:36I had one,
- 12:36so it was all on that one kid.
- 12:38And then when she was gone,
- 12:40she was gone, man.
- 12:42Yeah.
- 12:43Brody's going to be nineteen in two weeks.
- 12:44Jameson's going to be eight next week.
- 12:48We got a little ways to go.
- 12:51We got a little ways to go.
- 12:53Now my daughter's in Montana.
- 12:54She's coming home in a week.
- 12:59By Thanksgiving?
- 13:00Yeah.
- 13:02So she's coming home the Friday night
- 13:05before Thanksgiving.
- 13:07So that's next week, right?
- 13:08That's next week.
- 13:09Yes, sir.
- 13:10Dang.
- 13:11She's thriving though, man.
- 13:14She's killing it.
- 13:14She just...
- 13:16she just booked a gig where she's flying
- 13:18on the private jet with the owner to
- 13:20dallas to do some stuff um at a
- 13:24big marketing show in dallas and man i
- 13:26don't know she just it's really cool i
- 13:30i can't even believe i can't even believe
- 13:33what she's doing like the dad pride is
- 13:37like through the roof oh yeah five percent
- 13:39five percent it's awesome dude i'm happy
- 13:45for y'all so um
- 13:48Before I get into my rants and some
- 13:50other stuff,
- 13:52let's get a couple of business matters out
- 13:53of the way.
- 13:53So yesterday I talked about the WFP.
- 13:56It was really not my intent to go
- 13:57down like a big WFP rabbit hole,
- 14:00but it just happens, right?
- 14:03Because is it Jason Ainsley released that
- 14:07information on a podcast that they're
- 14:10meeting?
- 14:10WFP is meeting with CrossFit.
- 14:12They're meeting with the new perspective
- 14:14owners, all of this kind of stuff, right?
- 14:18Was that...
- 14:18That was Ansley that said all that?
- 14:19I thought that was a foreign dude.
- 14:22It is a foreign dude.
- 14:23I'm probably mixing... Yeah.
- 14:25Ansley's not going to give him nothing.
- 14:27Jason's a good dude.
- 14:28Anyway, it's Rob.
- 14:30Rob?
- 14:31Something like that.
- 14:34My head is spinning right now, right?
- 14:36Yeah.
- 14:39And so we talked about WP for I
- 14:42don't know, fifteen, twenty minutes.
- 14:45So...
- 14:49So then I get comments like,
- 14:52can you stop talking about the WFP?
- 14:54Can we talk about something other than the
- 14:56WFP?
- 14:57All these things, right?
- 15:00Isn't that the problem?
- 15:02Isn't that the problem that WFP has?
- 15:05They're not talking about it.
- 15:07Nobody's talking about it.
- 15:09Nobody knows it's, you know what I mean?
- 15:12Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
- 15:15So like,
- 15:15what the hell you want me to do?
- 15:18it's the only thing that's happening right
- 15:19now.
- 15:21So I, I try, I've really,
- 15:22really been trying not to like answer back
- 15:24to the trolls.
- 15:25Good.
- 15:27But I,
- 15:28I gave in yesterday and I'm like, well,
- 15:31if you don't want me to talk about
- 15:32it, it's a bold strategy.
- 15:34Um,
- 15:35if you want it to succeed and you
- 15:36don't want me to talk about it, uh,
- 15:38that's a business plan.
- 15:39It's really going to be successful.
- 15:42Again,
- 15:43I will use the same analogy the other
- 15:44day.
- 15:45It was like having a two year old
- 15:47that I,
- 15:49and you give them the cookie and they
- 15:50throw it on the ground.
- 15:53Not like that.
- 15:54Not like that.
- 15:55I mean, come on, dude.
- 15:57Exactly.
- 15:57At this point,
- 15:58even bad publicity will help them more
- 15:59than no publicity.
- 16:01When you're reaching out to media to
- 16:03remind them that they can apply for media
- 16:06credentials, which I've never, ever, ever,
- 16:09ever, never seen in the CrossFit space.
- 16:13Usually it's a short window and you either
- 16:16get in or you don't.
- 16:17And that's end of story.
- 16:19For them to be begging for media to
- 16:22come.
- 16:23Because that's what that is.
- 16:24If you have to remind somebody to apply
- 16:27for your media credentials,
- 16:29it's because they don't care enough to
- 16:32apply for your media credentials.
- 16:35Or for somebody like you,
- 16:36it's in Copenhagen.
- 16:37Scott,
- 16:38you flying to Copenhagen Christmas week?
- 16:40No.
- 16:41Yeah, I didn't think so.
- 16:44Barbell's been posted this,
- 16:46which I've heard as well.
- 16:51And I've heard there's
- 16:53It's not one more, it's a few more.
- 16:59Um,
- 17:01and so I've heard a lot of rumors
- 17:04that that's happening.
- 17:06And then Shanna says losing so many
- 17:09athletes, this final hopper out too.
- 17:12I have not seen that.
- 17:16Did you,
- 17:17did you see that officially somewhere,
- 17:20Shanna, or are you just.
- 17:24Let me look up Hopper Instagram because
- 17:29apparently news likes to break as we're on
- 17:31the air.
- 17:32I mean, it'd be like that.
- 17:38Spin just posted it.
- 17:42Man,
- 17:42I think Spin waits till we're on the
- 17:44air.
- 17:50I don't have Hopper.
- 17:51That's the thing about him.
- 17:53It's home.
- 17:55I see the Emma tall.
- 17:55Yeah.
- 18:00Emma tall.
- 18:01We were guessing Emma tall.
- 18:03She fractured her AC joint.
- 18:05I don't see that being a,
- 18:07a comeback with much success in a,
- 18:10in a month.
- 18:14Yep.
- 18:14Jason Hopper to skip WFP finals.
- 18:19Where do you have, is it story?
- 18:21Is it on the website?
- 18:23It's on his website.
- 18:24Gotcha.
- 18:28In speaking with Hopper,
- 18:29he told the Barbells fan he will share
- 18:31more about his decision soon.
- 18:35There it is.
- 18:36Hopper's withdrawal was likely not a shock
- 18:39to those who watched this week's Boys
- 18:40Interrupted podcast.
- 18:41In that episode,
- 18:41Madero said Hopper spoke about training
- 18:44and their plans in the coming weeks.
- 18:45Hopper shared,
- 18:45I honestly don't know what I'm going to
- 18:47do.
- 18:47I want to take two weeks off after
- 18:49Rogue,
- 18:49let the body get back and heal up
- 18:51a little bit and work on the shed
- 18:52a little bit.
- 18:56Yep.
- 18:57So there it is.
- 18:58Jason Hopper to skip WFP finals.
- 19:01There it is.
- 19:02Corey just read it to head over to
- 19:04the barbell spin again.
- 19:06Like we said yesterday, uh,
- 19:09sign up for his alerts.
- 19:11Uh,
- 19:11cause there's going to be a lot of
- 19:12news coming soon.
- 19:13I'm sure.
- 19:14That's where I got that.
- 19:15That's where mine was at.
- 19:16Was in my, uh,
- 19:17like I get it like a message on
- 19:19Instagram, like a DM or whatever.
- 19:21There was usually,
- 19:22I usually get that before he actually,
- 19:24it actually gets posted on his page.
- 19:28So that's a lot of traveling and
- 19:31competing.
- 19:34Craig,
- 19:34I have not seen anything on Jeff or
- 19:35Ricky officially yet.
- 19:40I think you had a pretty good point
- 19:42about Jeff the other day.
- 19:47And what he says right there.
- 19:49Oh, sorry.
- 19:50David, what was the question?
- 19:54Is this the equivalent to load management?
- 19:56So for people who don't watch the NBA,
- 19:58there's this thing where they believe that
- 20:00the athletes cannot sustain a full season,
- 20:04so they don't play their players every
- 20:06game.
- 20:07If there's a back-to-back game,
- 20:09they may pull them for one of them
- 20:11so they don't have to do back-to-back
- 20:12games.
- 20:12It's called load management.
- 20:14And I think that is a very good
- 20:16analogy as to what's happening now.
- 20:21Now go ahead.
- 20:23Oh,
- 20:23what Leo's saying about everybody's
- 20:24knackered and they just don't want to
- 20:26travel anymore and want to have Christmas
- 20:27with their families.
- 20:28Can you blame them?
- 20:29Like, this year has been a lot.
- 20:34I mean,
- 20:35you saw people at the WFP events that
- 20:38did not look like themselves,
- 20:40that looked like they were just kind of
- 20:41walking through it,
- 20:42kind of going through the motions and
- 20:43whatnot, and then the games,
- 20:46and then Rogue,
- 20:47and now this is fast approaching, dude.
- 20:50Like,
- 20:53six weeks out, five weeks out,
- 20:54something like that.
- 20:55Same week as Christmas.
- 20:56It's the week after I'm going to be
- 20:59in Arizona.
- 21:02It's close.
- 21:05Then right after that,
- 21:08you got to start ramping up for the
- 21:09Open and quarterfinals and semifinals.
- 21:14The whole thing's going to start again.
- 21:17These events are going to keep coming back
- 21:19up.
- 21:21No surprises after his posts,
- 21:23not training after Rogue.
- 21:24When I found out that there is no
- 21:26part of their contract that is paid out
- 21:28based on the finals,
- 21:30it's just whatever you win for your
- 21:31contract for the next year.
- 21:33Correct.
- 21:34Nobody's losing any guaranteed money that
- 21:36they had going into the season now.
- 21:40Right?
- 21:41Whether they go or not go.
- 21:42Now, next year,
- 21:43it probably means some money loss.
- 21:47But Hopper just won the games.
- 21:48That's, what,
- 21:49two hundred and forty thousand dollars?
- 21:52I think he's going to be okay.
- 21:56Well, just what Justin said the other day.
- 21:59He got back and had to take a
- 22:02couple days off and texted his coach to
- 22:06send him some programming.
- 22:07He told him no.
- 22:11He said, no, you just go ahead and
- 22:15He wants him to work out,
- 22:16but I'm not sending you any programming
- 22:17right now.
- 22:18Go do a class workout.
- 22:19Go make something up on your own.
- 22:21Just kind of get some motion, movement in,
- 22:23but I'm not sending you programming right
- 22:25now because he needs rest.
- 22:27They all do.
- 22:30Sean,
- 22:30I don't think there will be a next
- 22:31year.
- 22:34I think there will be a next year
- 22:36because they have all this money.
- 22:38And again,
- 22:40if you're the parent of a child and
- 22:42you want them to succeed,
- 22:45you're going to go extra lengths to help
- 22:48them in that venture.
- 22:50Now,
- 22:50I think the only way they do succeed
- 22:53is to make it a developmental league for
- 22:57those who don't get invites to Rogue,
- 23:00don't get invites to Watapalooza SoCal,
- 23:03don't make it to the games.
- 23:05But that tier right below,
- 23:07or the lower-level games athletes that are
- 23:09trying to get sponsors and endorsements
- 23:12and to make the league,
- 23:14I think that is it.
- 23:15And then your cost per athlete probably
- 23:17goes down.
- 23:18Oh, yeah.
- 23:20right?
- 23:21And then it becomes more sustainable.
- 23:31But rich people don't like losing money
- 23:32either.
- 23:34Again, as a parent, I am telling you,
- 23:37I don't like my bank account at zero,
- 23:40but do you know how many times it's
- 23:41gotten to zero because of my daughter and
- 23:43me wanting to help her out and to
- 23:45make sure that she's okay?
- 23:49Also,
- 23:50when the amount of money that we're
- 23:52talking about for that kind of stuff,
- 23:55I'd be willing to put a lot on
- 23:57it that it's a tax write-off.
- 23:58It's not that they don't care.
- 24:04I'm sure they do,
- 24:05but they look at it and go, well,
- 24:06it's a loss.
- 24:06It was an investment.
- 24:08I took a loss on an investment.
- 24:09I can write that off on my taxes.
- 24:14I agree.
- 24:15I think it is a big tax write-off.
- 24:18I think that they, in my opinion,
- 24:20with what was said on that podcast by
- 24:23the European event organizer,
- 24:27that the blank check for travel probably
- 24:30needs to be reined in.
- 24:31You think?
- 24:35Maybe rein in some of that stuff and
- 24:37then be something that you can sustain.
- 24:42Which is like talking about it yesterday,
- 24:44dude.
- 24:46I can go anywhere I want.
- 24:48as i'm wearing the wfp shirt sign me
- 24:51up right now and your wife is okay
- 24:54with it and my wife is okay with
- 24:56it guess what she can come with me
- 24:58she loves to go places so so i
- 25:02i think if they can if they can
- 25:04reign that in a little bit build something
- 25:08find out a way that it fits in
- 25:10the season better
- 25:12they could have something that's that is
- 25:14sustainable, but it's going to,
- 25:15it's going to have to mean getting rid
- 25:18of some of the delusions that they have,
- 25:19that they're going to be better than the
- 25:20CrossFit games.
- 25:22It's going to have to be that they're,
- 25:24you're not going to be the most elite
- 25:25option out there.
- 25:27And you're going to have to come to
- 25:29terms with those real realistic thoughts.
- 25:38I don't know if they have that in
- 25:39them.
- 25:42Okay,
- 25:42that's what I was trying to articulate is
- 25:47that takes a lot of self-awareness,
- 25:50a lot of humility, which I'm not seeing,
- 25:54right?
- 25:56The other step they would have to take,
- 25:58right?
- 25:59Like they have Project One that's supposed
- 26:01to be like their version of High Rocks.
- 26:03They have their affiliate program that's
- 26:05supposed to be like the CrossFit affiliate
- 26:06program.
- 26:07They have this big tour stop league thing,
- 26:12right?
- 26:13When was the last time you went to
- 26:15a restaurant with eight items on the menu
- 26:19and a restaurant with fifty items on the
- 26:21menu and the restaurant with fifty items
- 26:23was better than the one with eight?
- 26:27You're going to.
- 26:31So my argument before you.
- 26:33Yeah.
- 26:36That's a good point.
- 26:37I mean, it's a phone book.
- 26:40My wife won't go or hates going because
- 26:43there's too many options.
- 26:45My argument is the WFP is the cheesecake
- 26:47factory of fitness.
- 26:53I like it.
- 26:55I like it.
- 26:56The restaurants my wife and I like is
- 26:58when it has like eight items and they
- 27:00do them to the best of their ability.
- 27:02Right.
- 27:03Right.
- 27:05Yeah.
- 27:06Give me one page.
- 27:07This is... Love it.
- 27:08I love it.
- 27:13Hyde Park needs one item.
- 27:15There you go.
- 27:19Cheesecake Factory of Fitness.
- 27:20That's good right there.
- 27:22Isn't that what it is, though?
- 27:25They're throwing so many things on the
- 27:26menu,
- 27:28but they ain't good at any of them.
- 27:29Well, they're all...
- 27:34not well thought out and it's not well
- 27:37executed.
- 27:39Right.
- 27:41And argue with what you want.
- 27:46The more that CrossFit is refining
- 27:48themselves into just the game season,
- 27:52the better it's coming off.
- 27:54Right.
- 27:55Right.
- 27:57Let Rogue be Rogue.
- 27:59Let Wadapalooza do their thing.
- 28:01Let the semifinals do their thing.
- 28:04We're going to focus on this,
- 28:06and this is becoming our main menu item.
- 28:13What you get is going va-va-va-va-va.
- 28:15Well, it...
- 28:19Look at if you if you start a
- 28:21CrossFit class.
- 28:23OK,
- 28:23I just had a discussion with one of
- 28:24our members last week.
- 28:26Mechanics, consistency, intensity,
- 28:29mechanics.
- 28:30Let's do the basic bare minimum stuff and
- 28:34let's do it well.
- 28:36That's the first thing we're going to work
- 28:39on.
- 28:39Then we can work on consistency.
- 28:40OK, let's do it well all the time.
- 28:43Make sure you're coming in all the time
- 28:45so you can do it well all the
- 28:46time.
- 28:46Then we can add the intensities.
- 28:48They skip straight to intensity.
- 28:51Let's go hard.
- 28:52Let's do all the things.
- 28:54Let's do a chipper that has forty seven
- 28:56different moving parts in every piece of
- 28:58equipment in the gym.
- 29:00How well is that going to come off?
- 29:02Not very.
- 29:04I think that's an excellent way to put
- 29:06it.
- 29:06They didn't let themselves get good at any
- 29:08one thing before they jumped to the next
- 29:10menu item.
- 29:12No.
- 29:12Oh, you want that?
- 29:13I can do that.
- 29:13Oh, you want that?
- 29:14I can do that.
- 29:14Oh, you want that?
- 29:15I can do that.
- 29:18Yeah.
- 29:20Ken Walters.
- 29:21I was just going to say Cheesecake
- 29:22Factory.
- 29:23They drop a fifteen pound leather bound
- 29:24book on your table.
- 29:28Yeah.
- 29:30I don't know that I've ever actually been
- 29:31in a Cheesecake Factory, but I know BJ's.
- 29:35BJ does the same thing.
- 29:41Matty Sturt and Paige Demenza out of WFP.
- 29:43Also,
- 29:43I wonder if the majority of athletes who
- 29:45competed at Rogue are withdrawing.
- 29:50You guys,
- 29:50you got to cite your source so we
- 29:53can pull this stuff up.
- 29:58Rogue broke them.
- 29:59Dude.
- 30:02But Rogue is Rogue, right?
- 30:04And it pays really, really well.
- 30:07And it takes care of the athletes.
- 30:10You were there for it.
- 30:11You know you're going to get beat down.
- 30:14But you're there for the experience and
- 30:16they make it worthwhile and it's a great
- 30:18production.
- 30:20You know what you're getting into before
- 30:21you go.
- 30:22Nobody has any illusions about going to
- 30:24Rogue and then coming back and feeling
- 30:26like a million bucks.
- 30:28If you do,
- 30:29I think the only person who might have
- 30:30even had that inclination in their head is
- 30:33Colton Mertens because nothing seems to
- 30:36faze that dude.
- 30:37I think Colton could get hit by a
- 30:40bus and the next day he'd be like...
- 30:43Well, I got hit by a bus yesterday.
- 30:45I'm going back to training.
- 30:46I ought to be all right.
- 30:47Like he's going to walk it off type
- 30:48deal.
- 30:52He's just going to withdraw from WFP.
- 31:04It turns out he went ahead and withdrew
- 31:07from their own event in a shocking turn
- 31:09of events.
- 31:15But anyway,
- 31:17if I am looking at my season, especially,
- 31:22like, in the second part of it,
- 31:23if I am an elite, you know,
- 31:25if I'm Jason Hopper or, you know,
- 31:28any one of those guys,
- 31:30I'm looking at this and I'm going, okay,
- 31:31I got the games and I got a
- 31:33short break and there's Rogue and then,
- 31:36oh, yeah, there's that WFP thing, like,
- 31:39A month after or two months after,
- 31:41a month and a half or whatever it
- 31:42is after Rogue.
- 31:44And it's a quick turnaround.
- 31:46Rogue is usually,
- 31:48so do I really want to go all
- 31:51the way to Copenhagen?
- 31:52No.
- 31:53I'm going to do Rogue and see what
- 31:54I feel like.
- 31:56And I guarantee you, like,
- 31:57Medeiros is probably not the only one who,
- 31:59like, went to their coach and was like,
- 32:00hey, what can I do?
- 32:01And he was like, nothing.
- 32:02Go back to bed.
- 32:08You need rest.
- 32:09You just got back from row.
- 32:10You just did forty back squats at three
- 32:12fifteen for one.
- 32:14That wasn't just in one event.
- 32:18But you don't need to do anything.
- 32:20You need to rest.
- 32:21You need to get your central nervous
- 32:23system recovery.
- 32:23You need to let your muscles and
- 32:25everything else kind of recover a little
- 32:26bit before you can start easing back into
- 32:28training.
- 32:32I agree.
- 32:38Not finding the other withdrawals.
- 32:44I've got a morning chalk up on Instagram,
- 32:46morning chalk up on their website.
- 32:54Oh, there it is.
- 32:56Hidden.
- 32:58Buried.
- 33:03One,
- 33:03it pains me to go to the morning
- 33:05chalk up, just so you know.
- 33:08What wrong one?
- 33:09Dang it.
- 33:10Get the newsletter.
- 33:11No, what?
- 33:12No, thanks.
- 33:14Your newsletter a long time ago.
- 33:19I hate going to the morning chalk up,
- 33:20but here we are.
- 33:21So they say this is their headline.
- 33:25Norgy bleaker and Vivian Marie Christian
- 33:28accept invites to WFP.
- 33:31And then in small font.
- 33:33Small font.
- 33:35Recent withdrawals from Maddie Sturt and
- 33:37Paige Semenza leave room for backfills.
- 33:39That's not the same story.
- 33:40It's just not.
- 33:43You think Norgie Bleeker and Vivian Marie
- 33:46Christian are going to move the needle?
- 33:49I have no idea.
- 33:50That's your headline?
- 33:52I want to say I've heard Norgie's name,
- 33:56but I have absolutely no idea who Vivian
- 33:58Marie Christian is.
- 34:00Right,
- 34:00but Matty Sturt and Paige Semenza are the
- 34:03bigger names.
- 34:04Yeah, by far.
- 34:06That's what I'm saying.
- 34:07Whoever wrote that wrote it backwards.
- 34:14Everybody knows who Matty Sturt is.
- 34:16Everybody knows who Paige Semenza is if
- 34:17you've been in here for any amount of
- 34:20time.
- 34:22So, yeah.
- 34:22Hey, these two people.
- 34:27Like, that's insane, dude.
- 34:30Okay.
- 34:31Someone said it's, uh,
- 34:33spin has that up now on his alerts.
- 34:37Oh, here it is.
- 34:37It's up on the website, man.
- 34:39Everybody's withdrawing during the show.
- 34:44I'll see spin.
- 34:45Has it paid some ends of Maddie?
- 34:47Start won't compete at WFP finals site
- 34:49injuries.
- 34:50Imagine it where it made sense.
- 34:55Wow.
- 34:58Travis,
- 34:58I wore this hat just because I figured
- 35:00you might show up today.
- 35:07Okay.
- 35:08So during the show,
- 35:09we've had three withdrawals from WFP.
- 35:13And it's probably not over.
- 35:14And we've been on the air for thirty
- 35:15minutes.
- 35:18And it's probably not over yet.
- 35:22right like i don't think that's what you
- 35:24say that it's probably not doing now now
- 35:27the dam has broke and everybody can say
- 35:30okay now it's okay to announce and i
- 35:32won't be like lumped into something for
- 35:34doing it or right tristan this is my
- 35:40surprised face it's an avalanche of
- 35:44withdrawals yeah the
- 35:50I did say I think there's going to
- 35:51be a year or two for them,
- 35:53but it's going to be tough.
- 35:55They've got to do some serious soul
- 35:56searching.
- 35:56Well, while we're on the air,
- 35:59I'm going to go ahead and announce my
- 36:00withdrawal from WFP for the final as well.
- 36:04I might be able to make it.
- 36:06Well,
- 36:07it's not call to withdraw if they call
- 36:08you and ask you to come.
- 36:10That's just declining your invite as a
- 36:12backfill from all the withdrawals.
- 36:15You know,
- 36:16I thought they'd have to get the backfill
- 36:17to me.
- 36:19Well, I think they're close.
- 36:23I know Rogue is very business minded and
- 36:25probably don't care about WFP drama,
- 36:27but maybe in a conspiracy world programmed
- 36:29extra difficult comp this year.
- 36:31And now WFP final is taking care of
- 36:33itself.
- 36:35If you want to do the controversy or
- 36:37the conspiracy, Chetanufi,
- 36:41Rogue got blamed for a GHD mishap by
- 36:46the organizers of WFP when, in fact,
- 36:51it was misuse of the product that caused
- 36:54the accident.
- 36:56Now their way to get back is to
- 36:58make the athletes hurt so bad that they
- 37:01can't do the finals.
- 37:05If we're going down the conspiracy track.
- 37:06If you're going down the conspiracy track,
- 37:09let's make it real juicy.
- 37:12Like, hey, I'm accused of smear campaigns.
- 37:15This is how you do the smear campaign.
- 37:18Rogue pissed off because blamed for
- 37:20equipment mishap at tour stop two wrecks
- 37:24athletes so they can't compete in the
- 37:25finals.
- 37:26Dude, can you imagine?
- 37:27That's like, okay, I bought a C-Tube bike,
- 37:30and I brought it to the gym,
- 37:31and I put it together,
- 37:33and I was in the middle of pedaling,
- 37:34and the pedals fell off.
- 37:36Surely, that's DT's bike.
- 37:41Joseph Ramirez has just withdrawn from the
- 37:43WFP.
- 37:45I think Tristan said, too.
- 37:46He's probably withdrawing from it.
- 37:49Kenneth the lap.
- 37:50It's a cornucopia of withdrawals since
- 37:53we're in the Thanksgiving season.
- 37:55Let's go with the cornucopia of very nice.
- 37:58Very nice.
- 38:00It's a corner.
- 38:00It's a full cornucopia of withdrawals.
- 38:06That is fantastic.
- 38:07Yeah.
- 38:07Tristan said he's out on the flip side.
- 38:10Esther serve has a good point.
- 38:12It's also an avalanche of injuries,
- 38:14which is not a good look when talking
- 38:15about health all the time with CrossFit.
- 38:19Correct.
- 38:20The problem is we don't know how serious
- 38:22the injuries are or if it's just I'm
- 38:26exhausted and I can't do another comp this
- 38:28year.
- 38:28It's like injuries.
- 38:31I got a thing in my hip flexor
- 38:35that's been bothering me and it might go
- 38:37away, it might not,
- 38:38but I'm not taking a chance of flying
- 38:39halfway across the world to go see if
- 38:42it's going to get any worse.
- 38:44And then the open is in a couple
- 38:45of weeks after that.
- 38:47And we know that sometimes when you just
- 38:49don't want to do something,
- 38:50it's real easy to say my shoulder hurts.
- 38:55I would love to be able to go
- 38:58this thing.
- 38:59I yeah.
- 39:02So I was talking about to make it,
- 39:05Oh, are you injured?
- 39:06Yeah.
- 39:06I'm one hundred percent.
- 39:12Uh, Tristan,
- 39:13you cannot compete that frequently in this
- 39:16sport.
- 39:18Would you say it's a plethora of windows?
- 39:25It is a plethora.
- 39:26It is.
- 39:31Competition does not equal health,
- 39:33unfortunately.
- 39:35Right.
- 39:36Corey and I can go play football in
- 39:38the backyard for hours and not get hurt.
- 39:41People in the NFL play football in the
- 39:43backyard for hours and you're going to
- 39:45have three people carted off the field.
- 39:54Absolutely.
- 39:54Uh, CrossFit,
- 39:55we need to look at bodybuilding pros.
- 39:56Don't do every show.
- 39:57They pick one or three, one through three.
- 40:00That's not, it's not healthy.
- 40:05Um,
- 40:07All the coaches knew this wasn't going to
- 40:09go well.
- 40:14Because Tristan's not an idiot.
- 40:16You hurt or you injured all of our
- 40:19old sports coaches.
- 40:20Exactly.
- 40:22And I think there are a lot of
- 40:24people hurt and not injured.
- 40:27And they just do not want to do
- 40:29it.
- 40:30Absolutely.
- 40:33Burnout, dude.
- 40:34Looking at it going.
- 40:36What's the flight?
- 40:37Don't argue with me.
- 40:38They might be approaching injury at this
- 40:40point.
- 40:41Could be.
- 40:43What's the flight time from the East
- 40:45Coast?
- 40:46Not even from, like,
- 40:46where the West Coast people are coming.
- 40:49From the East Coast.
- 40:50I disagree.
- 40:51Corey and you are limping the next day.
- 40:54I limp after I do my six-mile runs
- 40:56on Tuesday mornings.
- 40:57Perfectly fine.
- 40:58That's how I normally walk.
- 41:01I mean, I'm fifty-five now.
- 41:03I'm perfectly okay.
- 41:05That's my normal gate.
- 41:11Would you say it's a plethora?
- 41:13I need to go watch that movie now.
- 41:15Announce two swim events.
- 41:16I'm out.
- 41:20Anyway,
- 41:20what's the travel time to where they got
- 41:23to go to Denmark and then Copenhagen?
- 41:24Or can they fly into Copenhagen?
- 41:26I have no idea what that looks like.
- 41:28So Copenhagen is in Denmark.
- 41:32Well, wherever they fly into.
- 41:34So the swim event is in Sweden.
- 41:36That's what I was thinking of.
- 41:38Right.
- 41:38But in Europe,
- 41:39the countries are small enough that that's
- 41:42like going from Columbus to Cincinnati,
- 41:44right?
- 41:46There's so many good memes or little viral
- 41:50videos, what do you want to call them,
- 41:51of Europeans that came to America and
- 41:54like...
- 41:56complain about European people who
- 41:57complain about us not going anywhere.
- 42:00And you're like,
- 42:00I can tell you why they haven't been
- 42:01anywhere.
- 42:02Have you been to America?
- 42:03It's fucking huge.
- 42:06Like me driving my daughter to Montana
- 42:08took me thirty five hours.
- 42:10Yeah.
- 42:12I had friends that are competing in
- 42:13nationals this weekend for tactical games
- 42:16from here.
- 42:17They're competing in Texas and it was an
- 42:19eight hour drive.
- 42:20Eleven to fifteen hours, dude.
- 42:25cross fat it's like oakland to san
- 42:27francisco just across the bay just across
- 42:29the day not that not that far so
- 42:33all right looking at that going holy i
- 42:36got basically two full travel days just
- 42:40trying to just getting there getting
- 42:42settled in getting all this other stuff
- 42:44it's christmas time i'm not going to see
- 42:46my family for christmas
- 42:49Or if I do,
- 42:50by the time I get back,
- 42:50I'm going to be so exhausted from all
- 42:52this other bullshit.
- 42:54And then I still need time to rest
- 42:56and recover because, oh yeah,
- 42:57the actual CrossFit season starts next
- 43:00three weeks after that,
- 43:01four weeks after that, whatever it is.
- 43:02We got to start getting back into training
- 43:05shape for the Open and everything else.
- 43:07Dude.
- 43:11Yeah.
- 43:12And I might not make any more.
- 43:13I'm probably not going to get any money
- 43:13off of it.
- 43:14Right.
- 43:19That's what's crazy.
- 43:20The fact that the Finals have zero money.
- 43:23There's no way, dude.
- 43:26That's a poorly written contract.
- 43:28There's no way.
- 43:29But maybe I might get a cool leather
- 43:30jacket.
- 43:33With all these withdrawals,
- 43:34those people don't have a shot.
- 43:36At being top-twenty at the end of the
- 43:38year.
- 43:39So most of them are not getting a
- 43:40pro card.
- 43:41If they're not getting a pro card,
- 43:42they're not doing qualifiers next year.
- 43:44I can't see Jason Hopper wanting to say,
- 43:47I'm going to do this qualifier to be
- 43:48a challenger at WFP.
- 43:50I won the game.
- 43:53Right.
- 43:56Oh, yeah.
- 43:57I won the games.
- 43:58What should I do next?
- 44:00Oh,
- 44:00I think I'm going to try to qualify
- 44:02for a pro card for the WFP.
- 44:05Do you understand how ludicrous that
- 44:07sounds?
- 44:09Call it a European tour and be done
- 44:11with it.
- 44:14Golf does that.
- 44:15They have the Asian tour.
- 44:16They have the European tour.
- 44:20Yeah.
- 44:20Go do that.
- 44:22Knock yourself out.
- 44:25There it is.
- 44:27there we are we're down the rabbit hole
- 44:28of wfp and i'll get all the nasty
- 44:30comments again thanks cory it's your fault
- 44:33i'll take it i'll take that lick sorry
- 44:36but there were like eighty seven
- 44:38withdrawals in the time we were on the
- 44:40air bro i mean we found out about
- 44:44jason the two girls and somebody else
- 44:47right
- 44:48Well, to Hopper.
- 44:50Hopper, yeah, you said Hopper.
- 44:52I just put up the things that said
- 44:54from spin, Alex isn't the last.
- 44:56And then it all came.
- 44:59So just look at it this week.
- 45:01That's three females and one more male.
- 45:05And you can expect more.
- 45:08Correct.
- 45:10And there already were some.
- 45:12So we're at like six or seven.
- 45:21weren't they getting rid of the challenger
- 45:22division next year, by the way, they were,
- 45:24what they're going to do is expand the
- 45:26pro division and you,
- 45:27but the people not in the top twenty
- 45:29still had to do the qualifier to go
- 45:32compete.
- 45:33And I think they're expanding the pro
- 45:34division from thirty to forty and getting
- 45:37rid of the challenger.
- 45:39And then,
- 45:39but you still have to do the qualifier
- 45:41to get to the top forty.
- 45:43But we're talking now like at
- 45:47You know games athletes are not doing a
- 45:49qualifier to go to the WFP.
- 45:53No.
- 45:54No.
- 45:56Just isn't going to happen.
- 45:58Let me tell you what qualifier they're
- 46:00doing.
- 46:00It's called the Open.
- 46:02It starts in February.
- 46:04And then there's quarterfinals and then
- 46:05there's semifinals and then there's the
- 46:06games.
- 46:08That's about the extent of the qualifiers
- 46:09that they're going to do.
- 46:10Maybe the lower tier guys,
- 46:12like the bubble athletes,
- 46:13will do qualifiers to get to certain
- 46:15events like TFX or whatever else.
- 46:18Sure, they will absolutely do those.
- 46:19I know several of those guys,
- 46:21and they work their asses off to be
- 46:22able to do those qualifiers,
- 46:24to go represent, get the experience,
- 46:26to be able to try to knock themselves
- 46:27up a lead.
- 46:29But again,
- 46:30if you think Jason Hopper is going to
- 46:32do a qualifier event
- 46:35To try to get a pro card for
- 46:37the WFP.
- 46:37You're insane.
- 46:47Uh, more, it'll just change up the rules.
- 46:49Uh, sadly, this,
- 46:52this schism schism schism between North
- 46:56American Europe athletes will likely grow
- 46:58because of this.
- 47:05yeah i i don't know explain anything yeah
- 47:11the other two i mean the other two
- 47:12events were here were they not one of
- 47:14them in columbus one of them in uh
- 47:17one in indiana one in arizona yeah and
- 47:20one in arizona i'll see it being a
- 47:23big that big a deal really and truly
- 47:27You're probably, I can see, I mean,
- 47:28that's why they're inviting,
- 47:30I assume that's why they inviting more
- 47:32European athletes at this point,
- 47:34because they're right there.
- 47:36Well,
- 47:36I think they're just going down the list
- 47:37of people with points, um,
- 47:41that are accepting, um, because I'm,
- 47:45you know,
- 47:45I'm betting people that are on the list
- 47:48are turning it down as well.
- 47:50So that would be a fantastic piece of
- 47:53information.
- 47:55Yeah.
- 47:55We don't know who's saying no,
- 47:57because I mean,
- 47:58I know there's some names that have points
- 48:00that I'm not seeing as an option to
- 48:01fill the, to backfill.
- 48:03And I'm betting some of them are saying
- 48:05no,
- 48:06we'd have to go to the board and
- 48:07look at and see.
- 48:09That sounds like a Holly people.
- 48:11That sounds like a Holly Duggan.
- 48:14Yeah.
- 48:14I'll put Holly on that and see.
- 48:18Cause we worked hard to put together that
- 48:20leaderboard.
- 48:20So we have it.
- 48:22Um,
- 48:24They aren't going thirty one, thirty two,
- 48:26thirty three.
- 48:27I think that's the intent.
- 48:28And that's kind of what they're doing.
- 48:30But I think people are turning it down.
- 48:33Right.
- 48:33They are going.
- 48:34They probably are going thirty one,
- 48:35thirty two, thirty three.
- 48:36But they get to thirty one and thirty
- 48:38one is like, no, thank you.
- 48:39So I know like Emily Lugman was like
- 48:41thirty one and she got the first backfill.
- 48:46But I don't know,
- 48:47like the names that are popping up now,
- 48:50I have no idea where they're ranked.
- 48:55When?
- 48:56Who?
- 48:57No thanks.
- 48:57I'm trying to quit.
- 48:59Appreciate it.
- 49:01Vivian Marie Christian.
- 49:02I don't even remember seeing her at the
- 49:05events.
- 49:05I have no idea who that is.
- 49:10I've never heard that name before.
- 49:12After the show, or Holly always listens.
- 49:16Holly, when you listen to this,
- 49:17if it's a way to see if there
- 49:19are people skipping out,
- 49:22it's going to be interesting.
- 49:23Please.
- 49:25Just show us,
- 49:26like highlight the names that must have
- 49:29turned it down.
- 49:30The only Vivian I know is Aunt Vivian
- 49:33from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
- 49:36Okay.
- 49:40Or Vivian.
- 49:41She's probably not going.
- 49:43Although,
- 49:44if they forward note down the list,
- 49:45she might be on it.
- 49:46Yeah.
- 49:52Wow.
- 49:52Wow.
- 49:54Well,
- 49:54I had some stuff I was going to
- 49:56talk about.
- 49:59Just to finish on a better note,
- 50:01I'm super excited, man.
- 50:03Sunday is the premiere of season two of
- 50:05Landman.
- 50:07I've been waiting and waiting.
- 50:08That is one of my favorite shows ever.
- 50:11Billy Bob Thornton is so freaking good in
- 50:13that show.
- 50:16And now we have Sam Elliott joining the
- 50:18cast.
- 50:18Demi Moore is getting a bigger role this
- 50:20year.
- 50:24So jazzed.
- 50:25I am so pumped for layman coming back.
- 50:29Tulsa Kings coming to an end and it's
- 50:31been really good this year.
- 50:32Maybe it's best season ever.
- 50:36So that's been good.
- 50:37And I just got into season three of
- 50:39the diplomat.
- 50:41with Keri Russell on Netflix.
- 50:44We've watched that the whole way through
- 50:47and just started season three the other
- 50:49night and it started with a bang.
- 50:53That's like political like drama.
- 50:56So Keri Russell is she was like kind
- 51:01of a military expert in the Middle East
- 51:03and they want to groom her to be
- 51:05vice president.
- 51:06So they make her the ambassador to England
- 51:09and
- 51:10and to learn like the pomp and
- 51:13circumstance of what it is to be an
- 51:14ambassador and all hell breaks loose while
- 51:17she starts this job.
- 51:19And so it's a lot of her military
- 51:21expert comes into play.
- 51:22It's about putting the chess pieces
- 51:24together, uh, for other thing.
- 51:26And then, um, yeah.
- 51:31And then like people die and people have
- 51:33got to take places and they got to
- 51:35scramble into.
- 51:37And so it turns into like much more
- 51:38of an action than they like.
- 51:41West wing was a dialogue show with like
- 51:44interacting between the cast.
- 51:46This is more of an action show that
- 51:47takes place in the political realm.
- 51:53so i've seen the ads for it i
- 51:56just haven't we haven't seen it because
- 51:59it's like super short like six episodes
- 52:03like you can blast through it pretty fast
- 52:06yeah they're only they just started season
- 52:08three since about seven year old decide
- 52:13that she doesn't want to watch what we're
- 52:15watching but i don't want to just get
- 52:16i hate just giving her an ipad tone
- 52:19to go away
- 52:20Because I want to watch it.
- 52:21So we end up watching a lot of...
- 52:23Dude, when my kid was small,
- 52:25I didn't see an R-rated movie for like
- 52:27ten years.
- 52:30I mean,
- 52:31I go to bed at eight thirty,
- 52:32which I usually put James in the bed
- 52:34at eight.
- 52:34So like it's not like...
- 52:37We go watch something for like ten,
- 52:39fifteen minutes and then Jennifer's
- 52:40falling asleep and I'm falling asleep.
- 52:42So...
- 52:44Yeah,
- 52:44the other thing I tried to watch over
- 52:46a couple nights ago was Play Dirty with
- 52:48Mark Wahlberg on Amazon Prime.
- 52:51That looks good, dude.
- 52:52Terrible.
- 52:54Really?
- 52:55Now, granted, that's my opinion.
- 52:57You may like it.
- 52:58I thought it was terrible.
- 53:01Felt like a total waste of two and
- 53:02a half hours.
- 53:04Damn.
- 53:06Yeah, just... So, cross back.
- 53:11She has some Top Gun.
- 53:14First Blood might be a bit much.
- 53:17First Blood, well, I mean,
- 53:19the only person that actually gets killed
- 53:21in First Blood is the dude he accidentally
- 53:23kills from the helicopter.
- 53:25The rest of it is intense.
- 53:29Yeah.
- 53:30Now, the second one,
- 53:34that's a different story.
- 53:34And they got increasingly more as they
- 53:39went.
- 53:40Yeah, the later Rambos were, I mean...
- 53:43Yeah,
- 53:43the first Rambo is more kind of a
- 53:44dialogue movie than an action movie,
- 53:47I would say.
- 53:49Even though Stallone only talks like eight
- 53:51lines in the whole thing,
- 53:53it's everybody else around him.
- 54:00Watching the A-Team TV show with our kids,
- 54:02it's so fun.
- 54:04Dude,
- 54:04that was like one of my favorite shows
- 54:05as a kid.
- 54:06Dude, I lived for the A-Team.
- 54:09Yeah.
- 54:09I even liked the movie with Liam Neeson
- 54:12and Brad Leper.
- 54:19The dude that they got to play, B.A.
- 54:21Baragas.
- 54:21Rampage.
- 54:23Rampage Jackson.
- 54:23Thank you.
- 54:25I thought he did,
- 54:26like he was awesome as Mr. T.
- 54:30Because I don't know what else to call
- 54:31him as B.A.
- 54:31Baragas, but it's Mr. T.
- 54:36A-Team and Knight Rider.
- 54:38Michael Knight, baby.
- 54:40I love the day after tomorrow.
- 54:43Yeah, CrossFit Rampage Jackson.
- 54:47The movie's great.
- 54:48I mean, every time it's on,
- 54:49I just watch it.
- 54:50So, yeah.
- 54:57The other thing I was going to say
- 54:58real quick is I started watching the Being
- 55:00Eddie documentary on Netflix last night.
- 55:03Cause Eddie Murphy is like, Oh yeah, dude.
- 55:06That Beverly Hills cop was the first like
- 55:10big movie that I saw.
- 55:12And I fell in love with Eddie from
- 55:14that point forward,
- 55:15saw Beverly Hills cop a couple of times
- 55:16at the theater.
- 55:17And then like everything else,
- 55:19just love and adore that man.
- 55:21Did you know that before barely Hills cop,
- 55:24the highest grossing film starring a black
- 55:28man, woman was million dollars.
- 55:31And it was a Richard Pryor movie.
- 55:34beverly hills cop earned two hundred
- 55:37twenty million domestically and over three
- 55:39hundred million worldwide for five hundred
- 55:42million dollars it completely changed the
- 55:45landscape it's a it's an amazing film it
- 55:49is hilarious like i mean they still got
- 55:54the whole problem with nobody runs out of
- 55:55ammunition but that's a standard eighties
- 55:57movie thing yeah but
- 56:00It's a buddy cop movie that's not a
- 56:02buddy cop movie because they don't work
- 56:04together, but they are working together.
- 56:06It's a fantastic... It just works.
- 56:09I love Beverly Hills Cop and Beverly Hills
- 56:12Cop II for that matter.
- 56:15Yeah, Beverly Hills Cop III lost it.
- 56:18You know what?
- 56:19I think I remember reading that they
- 56:23didn't give Eddie the creative control
- 56:25that he wanted and that's why it went
- 56:28to shit.
- 56:30it wasn't good.
- 56:31Yeah.
- 56:32So yeah, it's, it's a good documentary.
- 56:36It kind of points out that like Eddie
- 56:38Whitney Houston,
- 56:39Prince and Michael Jackson all hit at the
- 56:41same time.
- 56:42And it kind of changed the face of
- 56:44culture and music and art artistry at the
- 56:47time.
- 56:49And then he backs it up with coming
- 56:50to America,
- 56:51which may be the funniest movie I've ever
- 56:54seen in my life.
- 56:57I get, that's another one.
- 56:58I don't know if we were talking about
- 56:59this.
- 57:01last week before last, whatever it was,
- 57:03or maybe I wasn't talking about it with
- 57:04you, but anyways, saw a list of,
- 57:07if you had to recite a movie word
- 57:10for word,
- 57:11that's one of the ones that would be
- 57:12up there for me.
- 57:13Like Eddie Murph, Coming to America, even,
- 57:18oh, not Hollywood Nights, Harlem Nights.
- 57:24Oh yeah.
- 57:25Dude.
- 57:27Him, Red Fox, Richard Pryor,
- 57:30that movie is outstanding.
- 57:32It's hilarious.
- 57:34When he shoots old girl in the pinky
- 57:36toe.
- 57:39No, Delores.
- 57:42Eddie Murphy Raw is amazing.
- 57:45I always have this debate with everybody.
- 57:47Delirious to me was way, way funnier.
- 57:51Delores was the first one, wasn't it?
- 57:52It was.
- 57:53Raw was off the chain.
- 57:55It was...
- 57:57It was places like comedy hadn't gone,
- 58:00but delirious.
- 58:02That's the first comedy I'd ever seen with
- 58:04him.
- 58:05It is the best.
- 58:06It, the ice cream, the.
- 58:13What the fuck is.
- 58:18So good.
- 58:19Yes.
- 58:21No, no.
- 58:22Mike DeVito wrong.
- 58:23Other way around.
- 58:24Yeah.
- 58:24You got that backwards.
- 58:25Yeah.
- 58:27You couldn't have Raw without Delirious.
- 58:29It had to happen first.
- 58:31Pull up Kevin's.
- 58:33Did you see that?
- 58:34The John Candy doc?
- 58:36I did not.
- 58:37Dude.
- 58:37I've lost Kevin's.
- 58:41There's way so many.
- 58:42Oh, here we go.
- 58:43John Candy doc was good.
- 58:44I want to see it.
- 58:45I just slipped off my radar for a
- 58:47minute.
- 58:49Be red.
- 58:52Like, get your tissues handy.
- 58:54Like...
- 58:55You don't realize it's been thirty
- 58:56something years since John candy died.
- 58:59Right.
- 59:00But dude, it is really, really good.
- 59:03It's,
- 59:04it's really well put together and you
- 59:05learn all kinds of stuff about him.
- 59:06I didn't, I damn sure didn't know,
- 59:09but I,
- 59:10it had me emotional at several different
- 59:12points in it.
- 59:13Cause like he was such a good dude
- 59:15and he was trying so hard to not
- 59:18have his life turned out like it turned
- 59:19out.
- 59:21Um,
- 59:22Cause like his dad died about the same
- 59:24time, almost at the same age he did.
- 59:26And he was trying so hard to avoid
- 59:28that.
- 59:28It ended up happening anyway.
- 59:30It was sad.
- 59:30It was really well done, but it was,
- 59:32it was pretty sad.
- 59:34Yeah.
- 59:35I love, I mean,
- 59:38I love playing strange automobiles.
- 59:39We watch it every Thanksgiving.
- 59:42I love The Great Outdoors.
- 59:44I could watch that over and over again.
- 59:47When he's yelling, you bastard,
- 59:48from the skis,
- 59:50and Dan Aykroyd thinks he's saying,
- 59:51go faster.
- 59:51Go faster.
- 59:52One of the best.
- 59:57Yeah.
- 1:00:00His part in Home Alone with the polka
- 1:00:06band, almost all of that was improvised.
- 1:00:12he flew in, like the accident being in,
- 1:00:16he flew in, they had like,
- 1:00:19twenty-four hours or thirty-six hours that
- 1:00:21he had free time to do it in,
- 1:00:22and like, almost all the stuff between,
- 1:00:25especially between him and Catherine
- 1:00:28O'Hara, was like, just off the cuff.
- 1:00:31Just them, just making shit up,
- 1:00:33riffing stuff, whatnot.
- 1:00:35Pocah, pocah, pocah.
- 1:00:37No?
- 1:00:39Yeah, pretty big deal.
- 1:00:39Sold like, three hundred fifty copies.
- 1:00:43but that's a lamp yeah but it's loaded
- 1:00:48the old ninety sixer i'm finished nope
- 1:00:51there's still gristle on the plate there's
- 1:00:53still gristle on the plate oh damn
- 1:01:02Those movies were the best.
- 1:01:03I remember when my daughter got to an
- 1:01:05eight and we went through all of those.
- 1:01:06Planes, Trains and Automobiles,
- 1:01:07The Great Outdoors.
- 1:01:09All that stuff.
- 1:01:11And she loves them to this day because
- 1:01:13that was like our family time.
- 1:01:15Gosh, I could...
- 1:01:18Now I want to go watch The Great
- 1:01:19Outdoors again.
- 1:01:21We just watched Uncle Buck maybe like a
- 1:01:23month ago.
- 1:01:24Uncle Buck's so good, dude.
- 1:01:26It is so good.
- 1:01:28The Stare Down with...
- 1:01:31With Coughlin in that?
- 1:01:32Merritt McCauley?
- 1:01:34McCauley.
- 1:01:34Yeah,
- 1:01:35and they're negotiating like back and
- 1:01:37forth?
- 1:01:38Yeah.
- 1:01:40When he was asking all the questions.
- 1:01:44Yeah.
- 1:01:44Yeah, that was fantastic.
- 1:01:46Yeah,
- 1:01:46that's where I first saw John Candy with
- 1:01:48stripes.
- 1:01:50lean means if if stripes is on i'm
- 1:01:55probably gonna like that's cool we're just
- 1:01:57watching stripes the rest of the day that
- 1:01:59ain't a big deal what's your record for
- 1:02:01questions yes so good man i don't know
- 1:02:07how we got from uh uh from eddie
- 1:02:12murphy to john candy but man
- 1:02:17There's a documentary where they, they,
- 1:02:19I know John Candy wasn't a person on
- 1:02:21Saturday night live,
- 1:02:22but he talks about how the whole original
- 1:02:24cast was gone when he was brought on
- 1:02:27to SNL and everybody hated them.
- 1:02:30Yeah.
- 1:02:30Like because the original cast was gone
- 1:02:32and it was really Eddie that lifted them
- 1:02:35up out of that with Gumby and James
- 1:02:38Brown and Buckwheat and all of the
- 1:02:42neighborhood.
- 1:02:44All of that kind of lifted them off
- 1:02:46that first cast.
- 1:02:50He carried that show.
- 1:02:51Eddie did.
- 1:02:52Like when he was on there.
- 1:02:55Movies with Scott and Corey should be a
- 1:02:56weekly show.
- 1:02:59Well,
- 1:03:00We're in the off season now.
- 1:03:02It's probably going to be our weekly show.
- 1:03:05Here's the fun part about that is that
- 1:03:06Scott and I's taste in movies only link
- 1:03:08up, I guess,
- 1:03:09as far as the comedy is concerned,
- 1:03:10because Scott's like a huge romantic
- 1:03:13comedy guy, and I'm not.
- 1:03:16And the let's shoot everybody and kill all
- 1:03:19the aliens and all that stuff that I
- 1:03:21love, Scott's like, no, thank you.
- 1:03:23No, no, I'm good to shoot them up.
- 1:03:25I just don't like horror.
- 1:03:27No, I don't do horror.
- 1:03:28I don't do horror.
- 1:03:30I'm good with shooting them up.
- 1:03:31Cobra is one of my favorite movies of
- 1:03:33all time.
- 1:03:35I'm good with all that.
- 1:03:36I like Alien.
- 1:03:36I like all that stuff.
- 1:03:43I lied.
- 1:03:46It's fantastic.
- 1:03:50CrossFit Eddie gave Chris Rock a shot on
- 1:03:52Beverly Hills Cop if you watch the if
- 1:03:54you actually watch the documentary he
- 1:03:57gives Chris Rock a shot at the stand-up
- 1:04:00clubs like Eddie overrode the managers of
- 1:04:05the clubs to give Chris Rock time it's
- 1:04:09really it's a really cool story it's a
- 1:04:12really cool story it's fantastic hey Sully
- 1:04:18stick around
- 1:04:23Predator better than Commando.
- 1:04:24Agreed.
- 1:04:26Oh, no, dude.
- 1:04:27Yeah, Predator is a much...
- 1:04:28Commando is a fun movie because of how
- 1:04:33ridiculous it is,
- 1:04:34but Predator is a good movie.
- 1:04:38Yes,
- 1:04:38I did know Billy Bob Thornton was into
- 1:04:39it, so... I did not.
- 1:04:42Now I'm going to have to re-watch that.
- 1:04:44Thanks, Travis.
- 1:04:45Billy Bob Thornton is the dude dealing
- 1:04:48Pharaoh...
- 1:04:50Whenever they first get into town and they
- 1:04:54walk in and they feel like I'm playing
- 1:04:57cards with my sister's kids.
- 1:04:59That's Billy Bob Thornton.
- 1:05:01And when he comes back out and freaking
- 1:05:03Doc just beats,
- 1:05:04like slaps him and tells him, oh,
- 1:05:07I forgot you were here.
- 1:05:09You may leave now.
- 1:05:10That's Billy Bob Thornton.
- 1:05:11Wow.
- 1:05:11Wow.
- 1:05:21I ain't got time to bleed.
- 1:05:23Jesse the Body Ventura in acting.
- 1:05:26Jesse was probably the best part of
- 1:05:27Predator.
- 1:05:28Oh, yeah.
- 1:05:28Right until he got killed.
- 1:05:32I was so into wrestling at the time,
- 1:05:34too, so that was like... Wow.
- 1:05:42There's just so many good stuff.
- 1:05:47All right, guys.
- 1:05:49Well, we are over an hour.
- 1:05:50I'm past my lunch hour.
- 1:05:52I definitely need to get off of here.
- 1:05:55We'll be back next week.
- 1:05:57Again, the next two Mondays,
- 1:05:59I've got some tests.
- 1:06:01So it's an iffy whether I'll be on
- 1:06:02or not.
- 1:06:04But we'll have Sunday night CrossFit talk.
- 1:06:06Carolyn will have finished the service
- 1:06:08cup.
- 1:06:09So we'll hear from her on how all
- 1:06:11that went.
- 1:06:13If you have any show ideas for Sunday
- 1:06:15night, shoot them at me.
- 1:06:16Craig sent us an idea that actually kicked
- 1:06:18off this week on the lunch show.
