- 0:07Speaker 1: It's Me Podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Me Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:13Speaker 2: conservation always wins and mostly Randall. I'm your guest host,
- 0:19Speaker 2: Giannis but tell Us and today we're joined by the
- 0:21Speaker 2: regular host, Spencer Newheart, Brody Randall, Corinn, Nate Tressa, and Alec,
- 0:28Speaker 2: who controls access to the buffalo skull that you can
- 0:30Speaker 2: stick your finger into in the Meat Eater store. Alec,
- 0:34Speaker 2: how many folks have fingered the buffalo skull? Now?
- 0:38Speaker 3: I could even tell you it's probably a couple hundred
- 0:41Speaker 3: at least really, at least I know we have pictures
- 0:44Speaker 3: of probably like sixty percent of them on the social
- 0:48Speaker 3: media pages.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Okay, that was my next question. Do you ask him
- 0:51Speaker 2: to do like a special hashtag for like buffalo finger
- 0:55Speaker 2: or buffalo finger hole? What is the hashtag if you
- 0:57Speaker 2: go in and take that picture?
- 0:59Speaker 3: Well, right now we're sending it to the regular Meat
- 1:02Speaker 3: Eater social media, but now that we have our flagship
- 1:05Speaker 3: store social media, they are sending it to the flagship
- 1:08Speaker 3: Meat Eater store Instagram page.
- 1:10Speaker 4: And what is that handle?
- 1:12Speaker 5: That's a good question.
- 1:14Speaker 6: I know I asked you this last time you gave
- 1:16Speaker 6: an update, But have you found any band aids in
- 1:18Speaker 6: there yet we have not.
- 1:21Speaker 7: And also in the the era of global pandemics, do
- 1:24Speaker 7: you disinfect that that finger hole down?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Then?
- 1:27Speaker 3: We do occasionally now more than we did at the beginning.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I will say that there's.
- 1:34Speaker 8: Lots of people.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, someone you know cuts their finger while they're putting
- 1:39Speaker 2: it into that buffle skull. You might want to have
- 1:40Speaker 2: a band aid on hand for him.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yeah, probably.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Hopefully we don't get there though.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Are you asking about new band aids?
- 1:47Speaker 6: Yeah, old band aids, Like it seems like the perfect
- 1:51Speaker 6: place to like cut your finger.
- 1:52Speaker 1: You have a band aid on there, and you go
- 1:54Speaker 1: and then you come off and have a band aid.
- 1:58Speaker 2: You're right, it is the perfect place.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Down to first thing, I thought it someone's gonna leave you.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Did you find the handle?
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 2:04Speaker 3: It is meat Eater Flagship store. Is the handle there?
- 2:07Speaker 2: You go? So search it up. What kind of stuff
- 2:09Speaker 2: do you post there?
- 2:11Speaker 3: A bunch of whether it's sales or stuff that's going
- 2:13Speaker 3: on in the store. It's kind of just random, but
- 2:15Speaker 3: it uh has all the stuff that you would need,
- 2:18Speaker 3: so check it out.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Okay, there you go. This is a ten round quiz
- 2:23Speaker 2: show with questions from me. Here's four verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation,
- 2:27Speaker 2: and cooking, and there's a prize. Me eater will donate
- 2:31Speaker 2: five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners
- 2:34Speaker 2: choosing this week's stat we're looking for this week's stat
- 2:40Speaker 2: we're looking at player performance from the first two times
- 2:43Speaker 2: I hosted Trivia. The winning score from the first episode
- 2:46Speaker 2: was four and from the second episode was eight. The
- 2:49Speaker 2: average player's score from those episodes was three point two eight,
- 2:53Speaker 2: and combined those two episodes had five five zero percenters.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I'm pitching softballs today, kids. Phil you saw the questions,
- 3:05Speaker 2: how do you think the players will do? I don't
- 3:08Speaker 2: know about a perfect game, but I wouldn't be surprised
- 3:11Speaker 2: to see a nine for sure.
- 3:12Speaker 1: That's terribly exciting.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Well, that's perfect because then we don't have to go
- 3:15Speaker 2: to overtime tiebreaker and uh, what if and Brody get nine? Yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 2: that's true. But at least he's putting it out there
- 3:25Speaker 2: that we're not going to have five perfect games because
- 3:28Speaker 2: they were. It's not that easy, all right, Okay, on
- 3:33Speaker 2: to infrequently ask questions segment, which is the way that
- 3:37Speaker 2: Spencer usually just plugs stuff that we need to talk
- 3:39Speaker 2: about here at meat Eater but today, but today, this
- 3:42Speaker 2: is a real one. But if you have an in
- 3:46Speaker 2: want to send in an infrequently ask question, send it
- 3:50Speaker 2: to Trivia at the meat eater dot com. This person,
- 3:55Speaker 2: I guess a fella. It could have been a gal
- 3:57Speaker 2: fellow or Gal wrote in and said, my wife and
- 3:59Speaker 2: I were flipping through the channels and came upon none
- 4:02Speaker 2: other than the Latvian Eagle shopping for a house in
- 4:06Speaker 2: Montana on one of those home improvement channels. Why has
- 4:09Speaker 2: it Giannis ever talked about this question? Mark exclamation point.
- 4:17Speaker 9: This is about five years ago, and I know it
- 4:18Speaker 9: because I was working on this show. When I left
- 4:21Speaker 9: the company that you used the show, I was.
- 4:24Speaker 2: What was it called? And Mama's I thought they didn't
- 4:28Speaker 2: stick with that. They didn't.
- 4:30Speaker 9: They changed it to something else but like boring, like
- 4:33Speaker 9: Montana something something like that.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yeah, let me call you Mountain.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Mixed up in that.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Oh boy, trying to make this concise as possible. A
- 4:47Speaker 2: friend of ours, Uh, there is there is a learning
- 4:51Speaker 2: moment here in this story, I will tell you. But
- 4:53Speaker 2: a friend of ours, Brady had done uh, the pilot
- 4:57Speaker 2: episode for this show. As the is a contractor that
- 5:01Speaker 2: actually did the work, and the contractor that acted as
- 5:04Speaker 2: the contractor, because a lot of times for these shows
- 5:06Speaker 2: you have one of each. It was like an acting
- 5:08Speaker 2: contractor and then someone that's behind the scenes doing the work.
- 5:12Speaker 2: We are the time, we're talking with him about remodeling
- 5:16Speaker 2: our place, and as we're talking with him about that,
- 5:19Speaker 2: he got approached by Warm Springs to do a whole
- 5:24Speaker 2: season of the show. And then they said, hey, do
- 5:26Speaker 2: you know anybody that might have a place that kind
- 5:28Speaker 2: of fits what we're looking for, which is a you know,
- 5:32Speaker 2: Montana looking house. And it's all like twenty eighteen.
- 5:36Speaker 9: Twenty nineteen, early twenty nineteen, maybe late twenty eighteen year, ok,
- 5:41Speaker 9: I can't remember.
- 5:43Speaker 2: But our place fit the bill log cabin on the
- 5:46Speaker 2: side of a hill, right, And so we interviewed and
- 5:51Speaker 2: it was pretty easy for me because I was, you know, working,
- 5:54Speaker 2: I was kind of working both sides of the camera
- 5:57Speaker 2: or the coin or however you want to put it,
- 5:59Speaker 2: and so all the questions you're asking, I'm like, oh, yeah, Jennifer,
- 6:01Speaker 2: just tell them that we'll be in. Because we were
- 6:03Speaker 2: looking at it as a way to we knew there
- 6:06Speaker 2: was some incentive for the homeowners to get some money
- 6:10Speaker 2: towards their project. Right, So, long story short, I think
- 6:17Speaker 2: it worked out, Jennifer says she would not do it again.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I would have done it again. We did save some money,
- 6:23Speaker 2: but also there were other costs and just time, you know,
- 6:28Speaker 2: when they wanted to come and produce television, they're like
- 6:30Speaker 2: kicking you out of your own house, because the whole
- 6:33Speaker 2: deal with that episode was meant to be that, like
- 6:36Speaker 2: we just leave and then the Mountain Mamas remodel our
- 6:41Speaker 2: place and we come back and we're like, oh my god,
- 6:45Speaker 2: it's totally different. You know, we lived through it, you know,
- 6:50Speaker 2: and the learning teaching moment was that the cash that
- 7:00Speaker 2: was put into that project was not tax free, and
- 7:05Speaker 2: we were not, Like, we didn't learn about that until
- 7:09Speaker 2: March of you know, when the taxes came due and
- 7:11Speaker 2: all of a sudden there was a giant plump sum.
- 7:14Speaker 2: We're like, oh okay. So would have been nice if
- 7:18Speaker 2: the producers would have been like, hey, you're gonna get
- 7:20Speaker 2: this money, it's not taxed. You better think about, you know,
- 7:23Speaker 2: having some money set aside. So anyways, yeah, we did it.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I don't know. I I think I watched the episode.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I can't remember I know a lot of people have
- 7:33Speaker 2: they Every now and then I get an email or taxes.
- 7:37Speaker 9: So that still I still have a man on the inside. Yeah,
- 7:40Speaker 9: I'll try to find some It's like watch party.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like every three months, I'll get an email
- 7:45Speaker 5: about be like just saw Yanni modeling at home. I'll
- 7:49Speaker 5: see a comment somewhere about it. So now it's now
- 7:52Speaker 5: it's been addressed.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Yeah. No, the project came out super nice. We were
- 7:56Speaker 2: really happy with our plays. Kind of sad sometimes we're
- 8:00Speaker 2: not still living there. But that's another quor another story
- 8:03Speaker 2: for another day. Housekeeping no housekeeping this week, but I
- 8:09Speaker 2: will say again that the last two games that hosted
- 8:12Speaker 2: were deemed hard by the contests and seems like no
- 8:14Speaker 2: one had funds, especially Brody. So this one loaded with softballs.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Jennifer Index is four sword winners should get about eight
- 8:24Speaker 2: correct answers, and with that play the drop thill.
- 8:30Speaker 5: Look, I need to know what I stand to win everything?
- 8:35Speaker 1: How's that just tend to win everything?
- 8:45Speaker 2: Demon Suckers. Question one as always multiple choice. What state
- 8:53Speaker 2: has the most mountain ranges? Alaska, California or Montana? And
- 9:02Speaker 2: you know I've even miss I misbrote this question a
- 9:06Speaker 2: little bit. It's actually what state has the most mountain
- 9:10Speaker 2: ranges in the United States? One of these four has
- 9:15Speaker 2: the most mountain ranges in all of our lovely country.
- 9:22Speaker 2: M hmmm, it's a tricky one.
- 9:32Speaker 8: Okay, that makes me think differently about it.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Good. Good, I want you to think.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Yoanni declared last week's multiple choice question a trick question.
- 9:46Speaker 2: And it was.
- 9:48Speaker 5: But I don't I don't think it because you were like.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I know, the trick kind of goes both ways.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Okay, like is it too obvious or is it? Is
- 9:55Speaker 5: it the least obvious?
- 9:57Speaker 1: The trick is thinking it's a trick question.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Like I said, tricky. Mm again, what state has the
- 10:13Speaker 2: most mountain ranges in the United States? Alaska, California, Nevada,
- 10:20Speaker 2: or Montana. Does everybody have an answer?
- 10:26Speaker 1: We do?
- 10:28Speaker 2: Karen, do you have an answer? Okay, yeah, there's four
- 10:30Speaker 2: up there. You just gotta pick one, all right. Everybody
- 10:33Speaker 2: reveal their answers. Nate Goes, Nevada, Randall, Nevada, Corinne, California, Spencer, Nevada,
- 10:40Speaker 2: Alec Alaska, Tressa, Montana, Brodie, Montana. There are a few
- 10:46Speaker 2: correct answers, which is Nevada, Nevada has three hundred and
- 10:52Speaker 2: fourteen named mountain.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Ranges based in Range Country.
- 10:58Speaker 2: That's right, good job, that's all I all. The only
- 11:01Speaker 2: extra two words I had in my flavor text were
- 11:03Speaker 2: based in Range and uh actually work technically in the
- 11:08Speaker 2: basin and Range Country too. I mean, it's pretty much
- 11:11Speaker 2: the rocky Mountain West.
- 11:12Speaker 5: So I feel like that part of the continent has
- 11:15Speaker 5: like a lot of sky islands that just like this
- 11:17Speaker 5: is a mountain range. That's a mountain range, that's a
- 11:19Speaker 5: mountain range, and they're all like within sight but not connected.
- 11:23Speaker 1: John McPhee based in Range, just read it. I'll tell
- 11:26Speaker 1: you everything.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Hm hmm. I'll put that on my list.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Add that to the flavor text.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Actually, John McFee is saying one of my one of
- 11:33Speaker 2: my I just had to order a bunch of audible books,
- 11:35Speaker 2: and I've got like, I think two more from him.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Always fantastic. Did you get the one about the oranges? No?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Did you get the one about the ship? Uh?
- 11:45Speaker 2: No, I think I went with pine barns and coming
- 11:48Speaker 2: into the country, I already had read that one.
- 11:50Speaker 5: M I don't know anything about the pine barons except
- 11:54Speaker 5: for soprano Zprano is it the same pine Barons?
- 11:57Speaker 8: Are they the only pine Barons?
- 11:58Speaker 1: Yeah? New Jersey, It's my favorite.
- 12:02Speaker 2: We're on the question two, what text it up? What
- 12:08Speaker 2: does Grand Titan mean in English?
- 12:16Speaker 5: You know this, Brodie?
- 12:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I do.
- 12:22Speaker 2: So it does Randall.
- 12:24Speaker 7: High School in two years of French in college, but
- 12:26Speaker 7: I knew it before then.
- 12:28Speaker 6: I had a coach who came back from a trip
- 12:30Speaker 6: to the Grand Titans, and he brought everybody together and
- 12:33Speaker 6: he guess, hey, guys.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Do you know what Grand Teton means in French?
- 12:38Speaker 2: Hey? You're addition, I.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Asked the question as it's.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Yes, grand Actually, I was going to ask Phil to
- 12:52Speaker 2: read this question in his best sort of fake trapper.
- 12:58Speaker 9: I've learned from Radio Live. We have a lot of
- 13:01Speaker 9: Canadians that listen to our content, and I'm afraid some
- 13:04Speaker 9: of those those French Canadians will be offended if I
- 13:06Speaker 9: try to pronounce it.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I don't even know how to like no, but You're
- 13:09Speaker 2: gonna just do it? Yeah? There you go? Yeah, do
- 13:14Speaker 2: you want to take a crack at it? Brody to
- 13:17Speaker 2: there you go? It was way good.
- 13:22Speaker 8: I mean, Phil, you can do better than that.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I don't think I can. The question is, what does
- 13:27Speaker 2: grand teeth don mean in English?
- 13:30Speaker 1: M hmm, do you have flavor text for this one?
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yes?
- 13:34Speaker 1: Okay, let's just try to come up with more. John
- 13:36Speaker 1: McPhee books Please travels with the arts druid hands of
- 13:40Speaker 1: the former World. Then he has a great back on writing.
- 13:42Speaker 2: That's tell the one I got.
- 13:44Speaker 6: I think it's draft number four is the book on writing.
- 13:47Speaker 6: It's a fantastic book. Okay, I give I'm just trying
- 13:54Speaker 6: to have fun here, guys.
- 13:55Speaker 5: I don't know it was French either until already revealed that.
- 14:01Speaker 2: All'd help me.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Okay, everybody reveal.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Your boards, your answers, Please heal your boards. Nate says
- 14:08Speaker 2: large breast, Randall says large breast, Corn says big hill,
- 14:13Speaker 2: Spencer says big meat, Alex says big sheep, tressa big peak,
- 14:20Speaker 2: and Brody big breast. The correct answer is large teat
- 14:25Speaker 2: or breast. Grand Teton is the highest mountain of the
- 14:30Speaker 2: Teeton Range in Grand Teton National Park. At thirteen seven
- 14:35Speaker 2: and seventy five feet, the mountain is a classic destination
- 14:38Speaker 2: and American mountaineering. It provides a lovely view as you
- 14:42Speaker 2: float down the Snake River, catch and cutthroat trout. More
- 14:45Speaker 2: than likely French, Canadian or Iroquois members of an expedition
- 14:50Speaker 2: led by Donald Mackenzie of the Northwest Company named the Mountain.
- 14:57Speaker 3: So that's what I say.
- 14:58Speaker 1: I can see yours from here.
- 15:00Speaker 5: Have you heard that same?
- 15:05Speaker 10: Everyone?
- 15:06Speaker 1: I know?
- 15:07Speaker 2: Hold on?
- 15:08Speaker 1: But while they're in Jackson, if you.
- 15:13Speaker 7: I think that it refers to the Idaho.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Side, like whatever you can see, that would have been helpful.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I will know next time i'm oment there, I'll remember
- 15:25Speaker 2: to say that. Question three, the process of binding meat
- 15:33Speaker 2: with kitchen twine to hold it together in a compact
- 15:36Speaker 2: shape before cooking, is called what really?
- 15:41Speaker 1: I think this is already questioned.
- 15:42Speaker 2: No. I searched the spreadsheet with all the questions and
- 15:47Speaker 2: I could not find.
- 15:48Speaker 5: I'm afraid that it was a question. Those those spreadsheets
- 15:52Speaker 5: are up to date as of like wow, early spring,
- 15:56Speaker 5: and I think I might have had this as a
- 15:58Speaker 5: question this summer.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Too late now, it's.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Too late now.
- 16:02Speaker 8: So it's just a it's a yeah, it's right.
- 16:04Speaker 5: If you pay attention to me trivia, you'll get it right.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Randall, do you feel like you're answering this for a
- 16:10Speaker 2: second time.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Unless you can come about the oranges is great?
- 16:15Speaker 10: Unless you can.
- 16:16Speaker 7: Come up with a question right on the fly.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Come on, I do have one. Do you want it?
- 16:22Speaker 1: It's up to these guys.
- 16:23Speaker 5: No, no, no, no no, because I think I think
- 16:26Speaker 5: like last time when I when I did this, I
- 16:28Speaker 5: feel like eighty percent of the room got it anyway, So.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I want everybody to have a good time today.
- 16:34Speaker 7: So yeah, we should just do a whole round where
- 16:36Speaker 7: we do repeat questions.
- 16:38Speaker 8: They'll be on zero zero and Yanni will have five
- 16:41Speaker 8: of them.
- 16:42Speaker 2: To contribute again. The question was the process of binding
- 16:49Speaker 2: meat with kitchen twine to hold it together in a
- 16:51Speaker 2: compact shape before cooking, is called what you guys ready
- 16:55Speaker 2: to reveal your answers? Go ahead? Nate says, trust, saying
- 17:00Speaker 2: Randall trusting, Carinn Netting, Spencer trusting, Alec bunching Trust, no answer,
- 17:07Speaker 2: Brody trusting. The room did fairly well. Trusting is their
- 17:11Speaker 2: correct answer. In the case of a turkey breast, which
- 17:15Speaker 2: is fat and plump at one end and tapered thin
- 17:18Speaker 2: at the other, Trusting will assist in more uniform cooking.
- 17:22Speaker 2: If you'd like to learn how to trust a turkey breast,
- 17:24Speaker 2: or any chunk of meat for that matter, check out
- 17:26Speaker 2: the Brian and smoked turkey breast recipe on page in
- 17:30Speaker 2: the Meat Eater Outdoor Cookbook. That's hostani Um, you guys
- 17:36Speaker 2: having fun? Three questions in good all right? Number four?
- 17:42Speaker 2: This one falls under hunting. Bifurcated antlers are most common
- 17:48Speaker 2: to what North American deer species? Brody writing, Nate writing,
- 17:55Speaker 2: Spencer writing, Randall writing, Alick writing, Tressa thinking Jennifer did
- 18:06Speaker 2: not get this one correct.
- 18:08Speaker 5: Okay, there's a hint.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Bifurcated antlers are most common to what North American deer species?
- 18:17Speaker 5: Yehny, When you guys start the mediator experiences, you leave soon.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I leave on Monday, which is four days from not. Yeah,
- 18:24Speaker 2: I'll be down there three days ahead of time to
- 18:26Speaker 2: make some content and uh then we get on with it.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Fishing has been dynamite, chewing the paint off the boat,
- 18:35Speaker 2: as they say.
- 18:35Speaker 8: I've never heard that.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I like that.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Yeah, Unfortunately I don't. I think this place is so
- 18:40Speaker 2: good that even my uh unlucky ass can't change the
- 18:44Speaker 2: good fishing. But multiple times in my life, hmm.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna catch our.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Film, oh buddy, But yeah, my father in laws always
- 18:55Speaker 2: telling me that they're chewing the paint off the boat
- 18:56Speaker 2: and then when I get there, it just goes.
- 19:00Speaker 5: And at some point at Cypress Cove they're going to
- 19:03Speaker 5: record an episode of Trivia. Randall's gonna host.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Yes, I'm looking forward to that.
- 19:07Speaker 7: Is this hurricane messing up your deal at all?
- 19:10Speaker 2: They had another storm come through like a month ago
- 19:13Speaker 2: that was not quite a hurricane, but close, and I
- 19:16Speaker 2: guess since then that fishing has only been like, it's
- 19:20Speaker 2: been just nutty. So I hate to be talking too
- 19:24Speaker 2: much about good fishing, but here we are. Does anybody
- 19:27Speaker 2: need me to repeat the question one more time? Go
- 19:30Speaker 2: ahead and reveal your answers. Nate says mule deer Randall,
- 19:36Speaker 2: mule deer, crim mule deer, Spencer, Muley, Alec, whitetail, tressaup
- 19:41Speaker 2: black tail, Brody mule deer. The room did pretty good.
- 19:45Speaker 2: The answer is mule deer.
- 19:47Speaker 8: What about blacktail?
- 19:49Speaker 7: Because they're not like they are sometimes but they're like
- 19:52Speaker 7: see a lot of three.
- 19:53Speaker 5: Pointers, but like who I won't argue too much, but
- 19:57Speaker 5: I feel like you'd have to assign this to someone
- 19:58Speaker 5: like according to Encyclopedia Britannica, you know this.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that's better hosting because when I.
- 20:07Speaker 5: Was tressed, I'd say I got that one right.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm more happy. I'm very happy to give it
- 20:11Speaker 2: to Tressa, because you're right. When I typed it in
- 20:15Speaker 2: just into the internet, there was multiple places like that.
- 20:20Speaker 2: I could have just said the mule deer Foundation.
- 20:22Speaker 5: Then then Tresta wouldn't couldn't argue with you know.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Bifurcated is defined as divided into two branches or parts.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Mule deer have times that split. The G two splits
- 20:35Speaker 2: from the main beam. I think we have one in here, yeah,
- 20:38Speaker 2: right there above my left shoulder. So the G two
- 20:40Speaker 2: splits from the main beam, and then the G three
- 20:42Speaker 2: splits off of the G two. White tail deer antlers
- 20:45Speaker 2: typically just split once when the times split from the
- 20:48Speaker 2: main beam, but a split G two, even on a
- 20:51Speaker 2: white tail, would be considered a bifurcated antler. I always
- 20:57Speaker 2: liked that word. I can't remember where I read that
- 20:59Speaker 2: the first time, but bifurcated.
- 21:01Speaker 1: It's fun. All right.
- 21:04Speaker 2: We're on to question five, Speaking of offshore fishing in Louisiana,
- 21:12Speaker 2: This cylindrical shaped device found on offshore fishing boats.
- 21:17Speaker 1: That what happened?
- 21:24Speaker 2: We didn't see the answers future questions. Okay, technical difficulties,
- 21:29Speaker 2: just keep reading question.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Question five.
- 21:33Speaker 2: This cylindrical shape device, found on offshore fishing boats that
- 21:38Speaker 2: target marlin and other big game fish, keeps big baits
- 21:42Speaker 2: alive by pushing salt water across a fish's gills. Apologies, honest,
- 21:49Speaker 2: you got this one right?
- 21:50Speaker 1: Oh?
- 21:50Speaker 5: I thought Brody was going to write.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I'm good. Anybody nobody writing yet Brody's thinking about it again.
- 21:57Speaker 2: The question is This cylindrical shaped device, found on offshore
- 22:03Speaker 2: fishing boats to target marlin and other big game fish,
- 22:06Speaker 2: keeps big baits alive by pushing salt water across a
- 22:10Speaker 2: fish's gills.
- 22:12Speaker 8: Mm hm.
- 22:16Speaker 2: The room is stumped, as Spencer would say, mm hmmm mmmm.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Some grunting, some humming, haweing Brody's drawing.
- 22:33Speaker 8: I think not you got this one right, Randall.
- 22:36Speaker 5: No, okay, no, no, no, I'm gonna be mad.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I don't even like my guess.
- 22:41Speaker 2: It's not funny. We'll give the room a few more
- 22:52Speaker 2: seconds here.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Brody, do you like your answer? No?
- 23:00Speaker 7: My answer, I thought it was pretty inventive, but it's
- 23:02Speaker 7: not gonna be right.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Again. It cylindrical device found on offshore fishing boats. The
- 23:09Speaker 2: target marlin and other big game fish and keeps big
- 23:12Speaker 2: baits alive by pushing salt water across the fish's gills.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Nate goes with salt
- 23:20Speaker 2: Can Randall live pod Crin drum spencer, Doctor m mcgillicuddies
- 23:28Speaker 2: mckilla gutties Alex without an answer, Trust without an answer.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Brody with tuna tube. We do have one correct answer
- 23:36Speaker 2: in the room. It is tuna tube. You knew that, Tess.
- 23:49Speaker 7: I feel like I set it up pretty good already.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Tubes revolutionized offshore big game fishing by allowing fishing captains
- 23:58Speaker 2: to keep big baits al live as they traveled from
- 24:01Speaker 2: the bait fishing grounds to the fishing grounds. Yeah, they're
- 24:07Speaker 2: pretty sweet.
- 24:08Speaker 8: Actually, how big is it?
- 24:10Speaker 2: Chill me with your hands, Yeah, I mean it's literally
- 24:13Speaker 2: just it's jammed in there. And they actually make them
- 24:17Speaker 2: in dark colors, like a dark blue or even a black,
- 24:21Speaker 2: so that when the fish is put in there, it
- 24:23Speaker 2: stays calm and just chill, and it literally just has
- 24:25Speaker 2: water pushing up through it. And it's all regulated because
- 24:29Speaker 2: you don't want too much, you don't want too little.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Is it like one fish per.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Yeah for hotel. Yeah, because these days they'll just be
- 24:41Speaker 2: pulling teasers behind the boat with no hooks in them
- 24:44Speaker 2: at all, and then once they see that fish coming
- 24:47Speaker 2: into the teasers, they will have these pre rigged, like
- 24:50Speaker 2: the fish will already be rigged in the tuna tube
- 24:52Speaker 2: and they'll literally take it out of there and just
- 24:54Speaker 2: drop it behind the boat and just feed line. And
- 24:57Speaker 2: that live fish just is all sudden back in the teasers,
- 25:00Speaker 2: and the teasers all get reeled and real fast, so
- 25:03Speaker 2: the fish is in there looking at all this action,
- 25:05Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden there's a live beneath
- 25:08Speaker 2: of this big just looking at him, just swimming around,
- 25:11Speaker 2: and you.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Just, are we gonna use that technique when we get
- 25:15Speaker 3: like a big.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Ass markt we're not gonna be targeting Marl. Then we're
- 25:19Speaker 2: gonna be targeting the yellow fin tuna. But they also
- 25:22Speaker 2: do use this technique for that, so you might get
- 25:25Speaker 2: to see tuna tubes in action down there.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Like a torpedo meat.
- 25:32Speaker 2: That was question five, which means we need a scoreboard update, Phil,
- 25:37Speaker 2: see if I can go to the right slide this time. Okay,
- 25:43Speaker 2: Alec and Tresa.
- 25:44Speaker 9: Have zero points and our time for last place. I
- 25:48Speaker 9: mean got Koreen coming up next with one point, Spencer
- 25:51Speaker 9: has three points, and all tied up in first with
- 25:53Speaker 9: four points. A piece of Brody, Henderson, Randall and Nate.
- 26:00Speaker 8: Nate now.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Nate with benefits.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Oh Randall, Randy.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Got to the river more often, come back refreshed.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Did you win that last game?
- 26:24Speaker 1: But I've made a lot of funny quips.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Okay, we're on to question six. A mnemonic used to
- 26:34Speaker 2: teach the tying of this knot is to imagine the
- 26:37Speaker 2: working end of the rope as a rabbit. The knot
- 26:40Speaker 2: can be taught to children with the rhyme up through
- 26:43Speaker 2: the rabbit hole, round the big tree, down through the
- 26:46Speaker 2: rabbit hole, and off goes heat. Step one of time
- 26:50Speaker 2: the knot, a loop is made into the standing part
- 26:52Speaker 2: of the line, which will act as the rabbit's hole.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Step two. The rabbit the end of the line comes
- 26:59Speaker 2: up the hole. Step three, he goes around the tree
- 27:02Speaker 2: which is a standing part of the line, and step
- 27:05Speaker 2: five goes back down the hole. Name the knot?
- 27:10Speaker 5: Hm hmm.
- 27:14Speaker 2: I almost brought in a length of rope to show
- 27:18Speaker 2: you guys tying it. Brody got too much. I think
- 27:21Speaker 2: so Brody's got it. Randally, you don't have anything knotsky.
- 27:28Speaker 7: I'm more of a don't know knots ty lots kind
- 27:31Speaker 7: of me too.
- 27:37Speaker 1: We'll call that.
- 27:38Speaker 8: Yes, Wait, you got this, Randall Spencer.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Don't you know I'm an Eagle Scout?
- 27:47Speaker 2: Mm hmmm?
- 27:48Speaker 5: When did you achieve eagle Scout status before.
- 27:50Speaker 6: My age of maturity? As is required by the code
- 27:53Speaker 6: of the Boy Scouts.
- 27:55Speaker 2: What is the age of maturity?
- 27:57Speaker 1: Eight eighteen?
- 27:58Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 27:59Speaker 1: The clock runs out.
- 28:00Speaker 2: I only made it to Life Scalp, which is the
- 28:02Speaker 2: one right before eagles.
- 28:03Speaker 6: I know I made it there too, on my way.
- 28:12Speaker 1: We got to cool it. We got it.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Would you guys like me to reread the question?
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 28:18Speaker 2: I think I would.
- 28:23Speaker 8: More times.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Is it gonna help you?
- 28:27Speaker 5: We'll get another ad break in this episode if.
- 28:30Speaker 2: You do it three. A mnemonic used to teach a
- 28:32Speaker 2: tying of this not is to imagine the working end
- 28:34Speaker 2: of the rope as a rabbit. The knot can be
- 28:37Speaker 2: taught to children with the rhyme up through the rabbit hole,
- 28:39Speaker 2: around the big tree, down through the rabbit and off
- 28:42Speaker 2: goes down through the hole and off go.
- 28:44Speaker 1: See step one.
- 28:51Speaker 6: The loop is made into the standing part of the
- 28:53Speaker 6: line which will act as the rabbit's hole.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Step two, the rabbit end of the line comes up
- 28:59Speaker 1: the hole.
- 29:00Speaker 6: Step three, goes round the tree standing part parentheses, step
- 29:04Speaker 6: five and back down the hole.
- 29:06Speaker 2: That's you nailed it.
- 29:08Speaker 1: No, no, you name the.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Name, name the not all right, Spencer's not gonna have
- 29:15Speaker 2: an answer. Oh you got an answer. Okay, go ahead
- 29:18Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. Nate says Bowlin, Randall says Bolan,
- 29:24Speaker 2: Karen says hop Scotch, Spencer hair not Alec rabbit not
- 29:30Speaker 2: those are good answers. Tresa Fisherman's not Brody Bowlin. The
- 29:35Speaker 2: correct answer is bowling. One of the greatest knots. I
- 29:41Speaker 2: have nothing written for flavored texts.
- 29:43Speaker 1: This is off the top of my head.
- 29:45Speaker 2: But everybody loves this not because of its ability to
- 29:50Speaker 2: come undone after being under severe load. So this knot
- 29:55Speaker 2: can be pulled on, pulled on, pulled on, and yet
- 29:57Speaker 2: when you want it to come undone, you just pushed
- 29:59Speaker 2: a little loop o and it comes undone. The downfalls
- 30:03Speaker 2: of the bowling is that sometimes with repeated loading and
- 30:08Speaker 2: off loading, it can become loose and actually undo it.
- 30:12Speaker 1: So when would you use.
- 30:13Speaker 2: It oh, buddy, I use it all the time. Probably
- 30:17Speaker 2: the most common use for me is, uh, I have
- 30:21Speaker 2: a tarp ten by ten foot tarp that pack around
- 30:24Speaker 2: a lot, and it's got i don't know, maybe four
- 30:28Speaker 2: loops along each side. But I don't really ever need
- 30:32Speaker 2: all four loops, you know, with the guideline right, and
- 30:35Speaker 2: so I only have I don't know, let's say six
- 30:38Speaker 2: or eight total for all four sides. And I will
- 30:41Speaker 2: use the bowl in to attach my peacord to those loops,
- 30:45Speaker 2: and so that whenever I pitch it, I can go, oh,
- 30:47Speaker 2: I don't need it here. I take it off real quick,
- 30:49Speaker 2: move it around to a different one and attach it. Okay,
- 30:53Speaker 2: But anytime I need to just attach a quick, you know,
- 30:57Speaker 2: a rope to anything, and I want to undo it.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Theland is your man, or you're not all right, We're
- 31:04Speaker 2: onto question seven. This seven letter word is defined as
- 31:11Speaker 2: a narrow strip of land between bodies of water connecting
- 31:15Speaker 2: two larger land masses. Again question seven. This seven letter word, Oh,
- 31:26Speaker 2: I didn't even notice that seven letters. For question seven, randall.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Now that's hosting.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Is defined as a narrow strip of land between bodies
- 31:38Speaker 2: of water connecting two larger land masses.
- 31:46Speaker 8: You got this, Randall, I do hm.
- 31:52Speaker 2: I'm gonna give you guys a hint. You need to
- 31:59Speaker 2: really wants his high You really already are this comfortable
- 32:02Speaker 2: that you wrote Brodie sucks on the back.
- 32:05Speaker 4: It's not personal. We just don't have enough smack talk
- 32:07Speaker 4: right now. Okay, I see I lost my last fantasy
- 32:10Speaker 4: football leagu because there wasn't enough SAPs.
- 32:12Speaker 7: All right, you know, no one ever attacks Randall because
- 32:14Speaker 7: he's a nice guy.
- 32:17Speaker 4: I'll change right now.
- 32:18Speaker 7: You know you'll do better if you do.
- 32:20Speaker 6: I think being complimentary to me counts as teasing me
- 32:24Speaker 6: because it.
- 32:26Speaker 1: I would never I don't discriminate question seven. This seven letters.
- 32:35Speaker 2: You want?
- 32:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, no, take a boat you can't offer.
- 32:39Speaker 5: I don't think you should if Randall already has And
- 32:41Speaker 5: this is coming from someone who does not even have
- 32:43Speaker 5: a good guess.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Come on, let's have some fun.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Mister. You are doing this to me. In the past
- 32:52Speaker 1: few episodes, I've had to put my foot down and
- 32:54Speaker 1: now I'm getting a reputation as a stickler, and I
- 32:57Speaker 1: don't like that. I just want to play my game
- 33:00Speaker 1: of trivia.
- 33:01Speaker 2: I think it's it's one of those hints that everybody's
- 33:04Speaker 2: gonna go ah, and there's still not gonna They're not
- 33:06Speaker 2: gonna know. That's how it works, and if a couple
- 33:10Speaker 2: of people get it, I will be happy a very
- 33:13Speaker 2: prominent Uh.
- 33:16Speaker 6: No, no, no, no, no, no, that's way too obvious.
- 33:19Speaker 1: That is way too obvious.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Oh really, yes, Phillis yes, okay, sorry, the.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Only one I know.
- 33:30Speaker 5: Okay, well, no, I feel like I know where you're
- 33:32Speaker 5: going with this now.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Oh sorry for you folks at home if you're not
- 33:38Speaker 2: following along here. I was going to give the room
- 33:42Speaker 2: just reading my question again so they can reconsider light hint, the.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Knowledge that they're bringing to the game without any.
- 33:47Speaker 2: But h Randall believes it's going to be a heavy hint.
- 33:54Speaker 2: But the question, the question is the seven letter word
- 33:57Speaker 2: is defined as a narrow strip of land between bodies
- 33:59Speaker 2: of water connecting to larger land masses.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Mhm h.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Everybody that is going to have an answer? Have you
- 34:15Speaker 2: written it down? Okay, Nate needs just a sec. Brody,
- 34:20Speaker 2: you have this.
- 34:22Speaker 7: I don't know, but something popped into my head right
- 34:26Speaker 7: away and I can't justify trying to think about something.
- 34:28Speaker 1: To change it to.
- 34:29Speaker 2: So all right, just a second is over Nate, go
- 34:40Speaker 2: ahead and reveal your answers. Nate, no answer, Randall says
- 34:46Speaker 2: isthmus corin sandbar Spencer Earthen Alec no answer, trusts a
- 34:51Speaker 2: channel and Brody ismus. The correct answer is the Panama
- 34:59Speaker 2: Ismus connects the North and South American continents. Stephen Brunella
- 35:05Speaker 2: grew up on Middle and North Twin Lakes, which are
- 35:09Speaker 2: separated by an isthmus. In the book Home Ground, edited
- 35:14Speaker 2: by Barry Lopez and Deborah Gartney, a wonderful collection of definitions, gosh, guys,
- 35:22Speaker 2: I'm sorry, and then finish.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I finished.
- 35:25Speaker 5: Wow, it'll be future housekeeping you.
- 35:34Speaker 7: It's a great with a lot of land terms in it.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say, it's a wonderful collection of
- 35:40Speaker 2: definition of landscape terms uh, emily, heist, and rights. While
- 35:46Speaker 2: many landscape terms derived from analogy to our own anatomy, neck, mount, finger,
- 35:54Speaker 2: et cetera, isthmus seems to be the rare case in
- 35:57Speaker 2: which a geographic term is applied to an and now
- 36:00Speaker 2: feature of the body titons Anatomically, an isthmus is a
- 36:06Speaker 2: narrow band of tissue connecting two larger parts of some
- 36:09Speaker 2: corporeal structure. Now I didn't know what the hell corporeal meant.
- 36:16Speaker 2: Randall would have known. Merriam Webster defines it as having
- 36:21Speaker 2: consisting of or relating to a physical material body, but
- 36:26Speaker 2: then it says such as not spiritual and not in intangible,
- 36:31Speaker 2: so synonym would be substantial. Still uncontent I asked my
- 36:38Speaker 2: doctor for an example of an isthmus in the human body,
- 36:42Speaker 2: and she replied, thyroid isthmus, the tissue that connects the
- 36:47Speaker 2: two thyroid lobes. What was her hint going to be
- 36:54Speaker 2: that the very this very prominent person at our company
- 36:58Speaker 2: speaks about this land form often because he grew up
- 37:03Speaker 2: very close to one.
- 37:03Speaker 6: I thought, you're going to say the most prominent of
- 37:06Speaker 6: these is the isthmus of Panama.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Should have been a giveaway.
- 37:11Speaker 9: What did you think the hint was going to be, Phil,
- 37:14Speaker 9: I thought it was going to be just because I
- 37:16Speaker 9: had read your your thing, I thought it was going
- 37:17Speaker 9: to be Panama as well.
- 37:18Speaker 2: No, No, I thought that's why this was going to
- 37:21Speaker 2: be a softball. Because Stephen Ranella has said isn' miss
- 37:26Speaker 2: you know, he says it at least a dozen times annually.
- 37:28Speaker 2: I feel like, uh, that was question seven. We don't.
- 37:35Speaker 9: We don't need a scoreboard up there until the next question.
- 37:38Speaker 9: You're honest, all right, we're definitely gonna get that second.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Let's go to eight.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Am I taking too long?
- 37:45Speaker 2: I love good, keep it rolling, getting I've been here
- 37:49Speaker 2: since well, listen, you're talking about getting hot. When we
- 37:54Speaker 2: were recording that live show, somebody dropped a little stinker
- 37:57Speaker 2: in here. Nobody raised there can okay, it was hot.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Any suspects I know, I know. I'll be the first
- 38:06Speaker 2: one to say, hey man, it just slipped. He wasn't.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Question number eight. What six letter word describes the line
- 38:22Speaker 2: that is attached to the end of a tapered leader,
- 38:25Speaker 2: most commonly used by fly anglers?
- 38:33Speaker 1: M hmm?
- 38:34Speaker 2: What six letter word describes the line that is attached
- 38:38Speaker 2: to the end of a tapered leader, most commonly used
- 38:42Speaker 2: by fly anglers? Tressa.
- 38:45Speaker 5: I better get this one right.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Mm hmmm.
- 38:48Speaker 2: You know it.
- 38:51Speaker 4: Knows it just started fishing a month ago.
- 38:53Speaker 2: So you're learning these terms. Yes, Oskarn, you need to
- 38:59Speaker 2: start fishing more. You and my dad.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Ah.
- 39:05Speaker 2: For those of you that didn't listen to I don't
- 39:06Speaker 2: know if it's gonna be last week, two weeks ago,
- 39:08Speaker 2: two weeks to go live show. At radio episode, my
- 39:14Speaker 2: dad volunteered himself for one minute fishing and proved that
- 39:19Speaker 2: he's yet to become an angler.
- 39:24Speaker 3: I would like to redo in a better spot.
- 39:26Speaker 5: Get you out there again. Trust has been one minute
- 39:30Speaker 5: angler before its close?
- 39:32Speaker 1: It was close.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Yes, I heard that. You also brought in a fish
- 39:35Speaker 2: into the studio and goes against I don't care.
- 39:42Speaker 1: It's right.
- 39:43Speaker 8: We have an aquarium.
- 39:44Speaker 5: So if it happens again, someone catches one, then they
- 39:46Speaker 5: come in here.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Show us where's the aquarium on top of the fridge.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Oh okay, but.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Like Spencer said, it's like three feet away.
- 39:54Speaker 5: Yeah, that's not against any Montana laws? Is it to
- 39:56Speaker 5: drop that thing in an aquarium?
- 39:58Speaker 2: It's gonna do too good.
- 40:00Speaker 7: An aquarium be too warm.
- 40:01Speaker 5: No, he's not living in the aquarium. It's like someone
- 40:04Speaker 5: catches it at the pond outside of our back door,
- 40:07Speaker 5: drops it in the aquarium, runs it in here, and
- 40:09Speaker 5: then runs it back.
- 40:12Speaker 2: You just shocked the ship.
- 40:14Speaker 7: Just look it out with you and bring him in
- 40:16Speaker 7: in a bucket.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, I think if he's fish, that's great. If
- 40:26Speaker 2: you use the water from the pond, I think he'll survive.
- 40:29Speaker 2: His little journey. Okay, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Nate says tipp It, Randall Tippett, Corinna question Mark, Spencer, Tippett,
- 40:40Speaker 2: Alec No answer, Tressa Tippet's Brody Tippett. The room did
- 40:45Speaker 2: pretty well. The answer is Tippet is your favorite text.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Trust's dog's name. No, I didn't even know that. But
- 40:54Speaker 2: Tresa does have a license plate that says five X.
- 40:57Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I wasn't Anna dos her and say what
- 41:03Speaker 5: is that?
- 41:03Speaker 2: What would you do to her if you said that?
- 41:05Speaker 5: That'll be a future pop culture question from that docxer
- 41:08Speaker 5: do do? Doxing is being like, if you want to
- 41:11Speaker 5: know where Yanni lives, you can go watch his Mountain
- 41:13Speaker 5: Mama's show. You can like knock on his door and
- 41:18Speaker 5: throw a stink bomb in there.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Just say howdy, yeah, bring some beer if you do that.
- 41:25Speaker 2: According to the Missolian Angler fly Shop, Tippet is sized
- 41:29Speaker 2: by diameter, not pound test, which is expressed as an
- 41:32Speaker 2: X value. The smaller the X value, the thicker the
- 41:35Speaker 2: tipp it. So five X Tippet is thinner than two
- 41:37Speaker 2: X computer keeps going dark. This sizing system dates to
- 41:43Speaker 2: the time when leaders were made of gut. I try
- 41:46Speaker 2: to find out what they're speaking of when they say
- 41:50Speaker 2: gut Brody.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Testing expect.
- 41:58Speaker 2: There you go.
- 41:59Speaker 7: Horsehair was a thing, too right, still is.
- 42:01Speaker 1: A thing if you're a violinist.
- 42:03Speaker 2: Yes, I'm not.
- 42:09Speaker 3: So.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Gut pieces came in very few diameters. To make your
- 42:12Speaker 2: piece of gut thinner, you pulled it through a V
- 42:15Speaker 2: shaped razor. One pole through the razor, the gut piece
- 42:18Speaker 2: is now thinner. One x. Two poles through the razor.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Gut is now even thinner two x. So on, that's
- 42:25Speaker 2: good in my opinion. The most common tip size for
- 42:28Speaker 2: western trout fishing is five X, which is about four
- 42:31Speaker 2: point seventy five pound test tip. It can be made
- 42:35Speaker 2: of monofilament or floral carbon. Did you ever buy into
- 42:41Speaker 2: that that the floral carbon wouldn't work for dry flies
- 42:44Speaker 2: because it sank below the surface a little bit.
- 42:46Speaker 7: Especially in faster water.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I think it's the case.
- 42:49Speaker 2: It sinks. There you go, sinks so hot tip from
- 42:53Speaker 2: Brody don't fish flora?
- 42:55Speaker 1: Do I know?
- 42:55Speaker 2: Like floral tip? I got rid of five six.
- 42:58Speaker 7: I stopped carrying that shit after a few years ago,
- 43:00Speaker 7: and I was like four and up no reason, test
- 43:07Speaker 7: which is a good I shouldn't even say this because
- 43:10Speaker 7: I worked in a flashot for so long. Go buy
- 43:13Speaker 7: a three hundred meterspool of streng or some shit trialing
- 43:18Speaker 7: instead of buying a ten dollars pool of tip it
- 43:21Speaker 7: like you save yourself a lot of money.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's another two hot tips and one
- 43:28Speaker 2: uh one go from Brody here. All right. That was
- 43:31Speaker 2: the end of question eight. So another leaderboard update, scoreboard update.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Oh heavens, what a surprise.
- 43:42Speaker 9: Let's see here Alec Tressa here, Karen and Spencer are
- 43:47Speaker 9: no longer in the running for the win, but we've
- 43:50Speaker 9: got Nate with six points. Holy cow, Randall and Brodie
- 43:54Speaker 9: are ty up in first place with seven.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Damn full time Nate. I'm rooting for you, buddy. I
- 43:58Speaker 1: appreciate it. For those of you that are.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Not in it for the wind stick around, there's some
- 44:03Speaker 2: fun questions coming up.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Right after this break.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Don't go anywhere, all right? Question nine. This is our
- 44:15Speaker 2: listener question of the Week, which was won by David
- 44:17Speaker 2: Smith for sending this great question. David is going to
- 44:21Speaker 2: get a board game signed by the crew if you
- 44:24Speaker 2: want a chance to win the Listener Question of the Week.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Then send your question to trivia atthemeadeater dot com. The
- 44:30Speaker 2: question is what six letter word indicates a male goose?
- 44:42Speaker 2: What six letter word indicates a male goose? Brody Spencer,
- 44:48Speaker 2: Krinn Randall all quick to answer, but Krinn thinks she
- 44:53Speaker 2: wrote down the wrong answer.
- 44:57Speaker 1: I don't know about this one.
- 45:01Speaker 2: I don't know as in, you don't know about the
- 45:04Speaker 2: phrasing of the question.
- 45:05Speaker 1: No, I'm just not sure about my answer.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, come on, I'm gonna I'm gonna guess you
- 45:12Speaker 2: got it.
- 45:13Speaker 5: Yeah, three straight questions told us how many letters the
- 45:17Speaker 5: answer has.
- 45:18Speaker 1: I think I'm at the end of this.
- 45:22Speaker 2: You guys, go man, it was really too easy. Then
- 45:25Speaker 2: nona have a perfect score. So you're right.
- 45:28Speaker 6: We should have a fun round of trivia where each
- 45:32Speaker 6: sequential question increases the number of letters.
- 45:36Speaker 1: And the answer.
- 45:37Speaker 5: Maybe we do a thing where I like give you
- 45:39Speaker 5: clues and the answers are in a grid, and then
- 45:42Speaker 5: it's like you get clues along the way as you
- 45:44Speaker 5: fill in the grid.
- 45:46Speaker 1: I love that at the end.
- 45:48Speaker 8: We call it a crossword puzzle.
- 45:50Speaker 2: Oh you know, I gotta say, you've made me kind
- 45:55Speaker 2: of into a crossword guy. I was really surprised yeah,
- 45:58Speaker 2: because I just didn't know that you could do them
- 46:00Speaker 2: that quickly. Because I remember is my great aunt who
- 46:06Speaker 2: sort of took place with my grandmother when I was
- 46:08Speaker 2: a kid, and she'd be on the couch for hours,
- 46:10Speaker 2: and I always thought she was doing.
- 46:11Speaker 7: It because she was doing the New York Times Sunday
- 46:14Speaker 7: edition and.
- 46:14Speaker 2: It takes well, you know, she'd have those books. It
- 46:16Speaker 2: just had, you know, one after another, and I think
- 46:19Speaker 2: she probably did ten in a day or something.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Books take a long time.
- 46:22Speaker 8: I think for a lot of people it is like
- 46:23Speaker 8: a leisure hobby.
- 46:25Speaker 5: But like when we do it online, the software used
- 46:27Speaker 5: kind of gamifies it and you're trying to beat Randall.
- 46:30Speaker 5: So it's like it's like more stressful, I think than
- 46:32Speaker 5: your normal crossword puss. You don't have to treat it
- 46:35Speaker 5: that where you're trying to catch doctor Randall.
- 46:37Speaker 7: But imagine we're still going off his fixed uh the
- 46:41Speaker 7: fixes in on Randall scores.
- 46:43Speaker 5: Well, he had a soft score lately and he said, guys,
- 46:47Speaker 5: I had five pieces of pizza for lunch, right.
- 46:53Speaker 6: And I had to play two in a row.
- 46:56Speaker 8: I wasn't right that day.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Give me a break.
- 46:59Speaker 4: No.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Jennifer's request that I don't play without her because she
- 47:03Speaker 2: enjoys it. Glad to hear that. I boys want you
- 47:07Speaker 2: to do a kid's version. Okay, okay, uh, let's go
- 47:12Speaker 2: ahead and reveal your answers. For question nine, Nate says
- 47:16Speaker 2: Honker Randall Gander, Corin, Honker, Spencer, Gander, Alec Honker Tressa,
- 47:22Speaker 2: Tommy Brody Gander, Tommy the Tiger. The correct answer is
- 47:35Speaker 2: what's good for them? Good job, we did pretty well here, Gander.
- 47:43Speaker 2: A female goose is simply called a goose. Baby geese
- 47:47Speaker 2: are goslings. A group of geese on the ground is
- 47:51Speaker 2: a gaggle. When in flight, they are called a skin,
- 47:56Speaker 2: a team, or a wedge you farther. When flying close together,
- 48:02Speaker 2: they are called a plump a skin like s k
- 48:07Speaker 2: E I N E I N yeah.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Never occurred to me that Gander Mountain was like a
- 48:14Speaker 5: male goose mountain. I said, it was like you look
- 48:16Speaker 5: out and you gander upon the landscape. So I don't
- 48:19Speaker 5: know which one it is now, could be both thinking
- 48:21Speaker 5: about it.
- 48:24Speaker 4: How do you think they decide who's at the front
- 48:26Speaker 4: of the V when they're flying.
- 48:30Speaker 2: That's a dad joke, isn't it.
- 48:32Speaker 5: No, it's why it is one side of the v
- 48:35Speaker 5: longer than the other. There's more geese on that side,
- 48:37Speaker 5: more geese on that side. That's the dad joke.
- 48:41Speaker 2: But I think that they they are constantly irrotating.
- 48:44Speaker 4: But that's what I'm wondering, is they're like, are they
- 48:47Speaker 4: forcing him? Does he like try to stay there longer
- 48:50Speaker 4: to be more valuable? Just thinking about the mind of
- 48:53Speaker 4: a goose.
- 48:58Speaker 8: In turns at the back of the b.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Well, full timer's though, moving up.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Well, that was my joke about seniority early on. As
- 49:08Speaker 1: soon as he said that, you guys.
- 49:10Speaker 8: I'm sorry. I'm sorry Randall.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Do we get another scoreboard off date?
- 49:16Speaker 9: Phil?
- 49:17Speaker 2: You got to it's gonna question ten? Oh yeah, you
- 49:20Speaker 2: can review that. Oh thanks. Review the answers probably shouldn't
- 49:25Speaker 2: have should have written them down. Yeah. One nevada two
- 49:30Speaker 2: large teat or breast three, trussing four mule deer. Why
- 49:36Speaker 2: are you giggling? Spencer?
- 49:38Speaker 1: Five?
- 49:39Speaker 2: Question two five, tuna tube six, bowling seven, isthmus eight
- 49:48Speaker 2: chip it nine gander ten Question ten. Brumation is the
- 49:56Speaker 2: word that describes the hibernation of what animal I saved
- 50:02Speaker 2: my heart ist per last just in case we were
- 50:05Speaker 2: in a tie, So I'm hoping that this one is
- 50:09Speaker 2: a little trickier again. Question ten is brumation is the
- 50:16Speaker 2: word that describes the hibernation of what animal?
- 50:21Speaker 1: How specific are you looking for here?
- 50:23Speaker 2: Not very specific. If the answer was dog, you could
- 50:30Speaker 2: just say dog. M all right, go ahead and reveal
- 50:37Speaker 2: your answers. Nate Goes bear, Randall, salamander, corne bear, Spenser snakes,
- 50:47Speaker 2: alec bear, trusp bear, Brody bear. We have a correct answer,
- 50:53Speaker 2: Spencer got it with snake accepted reptile salamander. Yeah, okay,
- 51:04Speaker 2: analogoust the hibernation. One key difference is that hibernation relies
- 51:09Speaker 2: on store fat, where brumation relies more unreduced metabolic activity.
- 51:17Speaker 1: That's the end of the game, is there?
- 51:19Speaker 8: Over time?
- 51:19Speaker 1: We're tired, We're still tied.
- 51:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we are tied, Phil, We're tied.
- 51:23Speaker 1: Right, Randall and Brody are tied at eight points.
- 51:26Speaker 8: A right, play the drop, Phil.
- 51:28Speaker 2: Hopefully it was fun for everybody. I just accidentally, but
- 51:36Speaker 2: I might keep it that way. I never liked off man.
- 51:43Speaker 2: You guys seem to be enjoying yourself. Why we're going
- 51:46Speaker 2: to ditch this one? That's not very nice to say, rand.
- 51:49Speaker 1: No, it's not you, it's us, it's everything.
- 51:56Speaker 2: Okay, the tiebreaker tiebreaker question, let me get it right.
- 52:01Speaker 2: If we get it right on the.
- 52:02Speaker 8: Nose, well, an extra one?
- 52:05Speaker 2: Okay, great, so I recon play along. But for the win,
- 52:09Speaker 2: it's just Brody and Randall. What is the weight of
- 52:13Speaker 2: the heaviest buck ever recorded in Main's Biggest Buck Club?
- 52:19Speaker 5: I think last time, yanniosid you had a question about
- 52:21Speaker 5: what the weight has to be to qualify for the
- 52:24Speaker 5: Big Buck Club.
- 52:24Speaker 2: That's correct. The answer does not need any decimal points,
- 52:34Speaker 2: just a nice round number. M give you a hint,
- 52:40Speaker 2: it'll be three digits.
- 52:45Speaker 1: Minimum.
- 52:49Speaker 2: What is the weight of the heaviest buck ever recorded
- 52:53Speaker 2: in Main's Biggest Buck Club? Let me tell you he's
- 52:59Speaker 2: a big old.
- 53:02Speaker 8: You weigh the deer off of your Wisconsin property. That's
- 53:04Speaker 8: getting timbered, Yanny.
- 53:06Speaker 2: No, but that is something you'll remember. I was asking
- 53:08Speaker 2: about that deer log book that I'm making, about what
- 53:11Speaker 2: entries I'm thinking about doing the weights and adding a
- 53:15Speaker 2: spot in for that. I that you good? Does everybody
- 53:19Speaker 2: have an answer? Randall and Brody? Why don't you guys
- 53:21Speaker 2: hide yours for a second. Everybody else revealed there, like
- 53:24Speaker 2: your answer Nate three seventeen, Krinn three hundred and six,
- 53:30Speaker 2: Spencer three hundred and thirteen, Alec three hundred, Tressa two
- 53:34Speaker 2: hundred and seventy one Randall your answer please, big Boy
- 53:42Speaker 2: three hundred forty two, Brody three hundred and fifty three.
- 53:49Speaker 2: One of you is within two pounds?
- 53:52Speaker 8: WHOA?
- 53:53Speaker 2: The correct answer is three hundred and fifty five pounds Day,
- 53:58Speaker 2: Rody the winner. This was field dressed Wow, Kill Wow
- 54:03Speaker 2: by Horace Hinckley in nineteen fifty five.
- 54:07Speaker 8: Fat Boy three.
- 54:09Speaker 2: One hundred and fifty five pounds. Can you imagine he was.
- 54:12Speaker 5: Two dollars off on the tie breaker last week, and
- 54:14Speaker 5: he was two pounds off on the tiebreaker this week.
- 54:17Speaker 2: He knows his numbers. I mean that's like a regular
- 54:20Speaker 2: size cow elk.
- 54:21Speaker 5: That's enormous.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Yeah, this is a giant.
- 54:23Speaker 8: It was it was gutted.
- 54:24Speaker 2: That was gutted. Yeah, another like least Brody, Where do
- 54:32Speaker 2: you want to give the five hundred dollars to?
- 54:35Speaker 7: I don't know what should we do? Are they still
- 54:36Speaker 7: fighting that battle in Colorado?
- 54:38Speaker 1: Buddy?
- 54:39Speaker 2: Are they ever? I've actually received two one text, one
- 54:42Speaker 2: email recently from I don't know if I can say
- 54:46Speaker 2: some like a prominent organization agency in Colorado, people working
- 54:52Speaker 2: for them saying hey, we could really use some op
- 54:55Speaker 2: eds in Colorado right now saying why Mountain Lion should
- 54:59Speaker 2: stay atus quo and be managed by CPW. So, if
- 55:04Speaker 2: anybody listening has that power to write an op ed
- 55:08Speaker 2: to Colorado, please please do it.
- 55:11Speaker 7: So Yeah, Coloradams for Responsible Wildlife Management.
- 55:14Speaker 2: There you go. Yeah, I think it made it. I'm
- 55:16Speaker 2: not forget it now. Ballot initie of now is one seven?
- 55:21Speaker 2: Did you get with the number one twenty six?
- 55:24Speaker 1: I can't remember.
- 55:25Speaker 2: We'll get that anyways, it's still a thing. It's on
- 55:27Speaker 2: the ballot. Do not vote for it. Keep Mountain lion
- 55:32Speaker 2: management in the hands of CPW. Thank you for listening.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Join us next week for more Meat Eater Trivia, the
- 55:39Speaker 2: only game show where conservation always win.
- 55:42Speaker 8: Thank you you're welcome.
- 55:46Speaker 10: Yeah. Spencer from South Dakota. He's the host, using those smooth,
- 55:50Speaker 10: mellow tones. He lays them questions down. He likes take
- 56:00Speaker 10: and those two and three year old bucks. And it's
- 56:03Speaker 10: an avid amateur rockhow
