- 1:42Speaker 1: Just hit me, just hit me, hit me. I'm up
- 1:45Speaker 1: because my birthday, So hit me back down again. Man,
- 1:48Speaker 1: give me a good formal critique, Like I'm like, what
- 1:51Speaker 1: am my? What? What areas should I most strive to improve? Man? Um,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I just don't want to break your heart like this
- 1:59Speaker 1: is do it? Break break it up like like if
- 2:02Speaker 1: you're gonna give me um, just trying to make it
- 2:04Speaker 1: like trying to make it seem like you're not being mean,
- 2:07Speaker 1: but like you're being helpful. Okay, Um, your turkey call
- 2:10Speaker 1: is not supposed to sound like a drowning duck in
- 2:12Speaker 1: a pool of um sewage. Yeah, okay, that's helpful. Yeah,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I mean, like you, I'm just trying to help you out.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I mean, if you're going to see duck hunt and
- 2:20Speaker 1: that's appropriate. But what your turkey calling? You know, just
- 2:23Speaker 1: it's cluck cluck perr. Not hit me with a beautiful
- 2:26Speaker 1: turkey call. Oh man, here he goes. It's my style, dude.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I love it with no assistance from calls whatsoever. Sands call,
- 2:55Speaker 1: no diet p rams, no way tax involved, no see
- 3:00Speaker 1: um uh turkey call company tried to uh like, man,
- 3:04Speaker 1: you're really good. Like if I could say you had
- 3:06Speaker 1: to make a lot of money, as I think this
- 3:07Speaker 1: prostitution human traffy is not thinking that about for you know, Um,
- 3:13Speaker 1: I I didn't mean to hit you that with this
- 3:15Speaker 1: one when he came in, but but I had Uh.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I became interested in you. Yeah years ago though. Um
- 3:26Speaker 1: so you're saying you should been stalking me for a while. No,
- 3:28Speaker 1: I happy. I stumbled into you and it was here
- 3:30Speaker 1: like right now, we're in National Tennessee or at the
- 3:32Speaker 1: National Wall Turkey Federation Annual Convention, um, the big show.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And years ago I was here and you were you
- 3:41Speaker 1: were just like on the show floor and there's a
- 3:43Speaker 1: bunch of people gathered around and you were turkey calling,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and I remember being like, how in the world does
- 3:50Speaker 1: this guy do it without? Um the assistance of a
- 3:55Speaker 1: call like just to make the noise. And then then
- 3:57Speaker 1: I just did various bits of research and looked in
- 4:00Speaker 1: and heard, um, you know, a story that you probably
- 4:04Speaker 1: by now maybe you're sick of telling. I'm gonna make
- 4:06Speaker 1: you tell it again and then talk about your life
- 4:09Speaker 1: after that. But uh, explain a little bit so two
- 4:16Speaker 1: thousand five, Um, well, let me backtrack a lot further
- 4:19Speaker 1: than that. So I always grew up honey, right, I
- 4:22Speaker 1: mean that was my passion growing up. And when I
- 4:23Speaker 1: was a little kid, my dad would take me rabbit hunting,
- 4:26Speaker 1: and just you know, I fell in love with doing that.
- 4:28Speaker 1: So I wan't in Louisiana, South Louisiana, where it's hot
- 4:32Speaker 1: and every snake wants to kill you. There. It's a
- 4:36Speaker 1: terrible place to live on cotton tills, don't there. Yeah,
- 4:40Speaker 1: if you can avoid cotton mouse, it's uh, it's a
- 4:43Speaker 1: fun place to live. But it's um for me. You know,
- 4:46Speaker 1: growing up there, I there was there wasn't as much
- 4:50Speaker 1: variety um to hont as far as you know the
- 4:53Speaker 1: other states. To me, we had deer and you know,
- 4:57Speaker 1: duck hounting. I never got to duck hunting down there,
- 4:59Speaker 1: but you know, we had a certain amount of animals
- 5:01Speaker 1: that we've been hunt there. Um, so I just kind
- 5:03Speaker 1: of picked and choose what I can hunt. So I
- 5:05Speaker 1: grew up rabbit hunting, and then at the age of eleven,
- 5:09Speaker 1: I uh started doing research and I I want to deer hunt.
- 5:11Speaker 1: So age of eleven, I went out by myself and
- 5:13Speaker 1: took my dad's thirty out six and I killed my
- 5:15Speaker 1: first year. Yeah. Yeah, I didn't even know what. Uh.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I killed a button buck and I didn't even know
- 5:23Speaker 1: the difference at the time because I would do until
- 5:25Speaker 1: I've seen the little nubs on the horn when I
- 5:27Speaker 1: got to it. So, uh, that was a rush for me.
- 5:30Speaker 1: What else did you got? What else did you guys hunt? Like,
- 5:31Speaker 1: give me the full game of what you hunted in
- 5:33Speaker 1: those years in southern Louisiana. So for me, my whole
- 5:37Speaker 1: family was a small game hunting family. So you know rabbits,
- 5:40Speaker 1: We had square dogs that actually had competition score dogs. Yeah,
- 5:45Speaker 1: so we traveled the country with dogs and competitions and
- 5:47Speaker 1: you guys have all the tree and dogs, and you
- 5:49Speaker 1: guys have like raccoon dogs and stuff. Yeah. So my
- 5:52Speaker 1: dad had hounds for um, raccoons, But I just I
- 5:55Speaker 1: don't want to stay up all night chasing behind a
- 5:57Speaker 1: ringtail and just I just you know, I stuck to
- 5:59Speaker 1: my square dog of my rabbit dogs. That was my passion.
- 6:02Speaker 1: So you had obviously separate dogs, right, yeah. Yeah, so
- 6:05Speaker 1: we had UM. We had beagles for rabbit dogs. We
- 6:08Speaker 1: had um original Mount Curse for score dogs, and I
- 6:11Speaker 1: think he had UM. I think he started out with walkers.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I think that's what he kept for coon houses. Walkers.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Did you guys live in the country, No, Yeah, we
- 6:22Speaker 1: were in the city. Yeah yeah, what about fifteen dogs?
- 6:25Speaker 1: And and every neighbor he ran into hated you. I
- 6:30Speaker 1: mean we got hate mailk twice a week. It wasn't bad,
- 6:33Speaker 1: but all the dogs, probably because I was in the
- 6:37Speaker 1: front yard skinning recular or something like that. Not technically,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I mean, but it was. It was one of those
- 6:46Speaker 1: deals where you know, I just growing up, growing up
- 6:48Speaker 1: back then compared to now so much different that that
- 6:51Speaker 1: was um more acceptable, Like it wasn't it's frowned upon
- 6:55Speaker 1: the back then. Yeah, but like now if I try,
- 6:57Speaker 1: you mean to be like a hunting family out skinning
- 6:59Speaker 1: stuff out and whatnot? Yeah, No, that's ah now in
- 7:02Speaker 1: like today's society and generation like that's frowned up on
- 7:05Speaker 1: and like terribly yeah, you know, even like we live
- 7:09Speaker 1: in in uh southwest Montana, you know, and um, one
- 7:14Speaker 1: of the guys who worked with Seth he had a
- 7:17Speaker 1: he had like a deadhead bocky found, you know, and um,
- 7:22Speaker 1: he had it out in his yard and he could
- 7:24Speaker 1: overhear the neighbors like aghast about this guy's got a
- 7:30Speaker 1: deerhead in his yard. And that's sort of disgusting. It's
- 7:32Speaker 1: like what the world called. It's Montana, man, you know.
- 7:36Speaker 1: So funny story that just actually happened last what's to day, Thursday?
- 7:41Speaker 1: So it happened Sunday. So I just moved through Tennessee.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So I got an apartment here. Um I was coming
- 7:48Speaker 1: home Saturday night. I hit a deer. Okay, but this
- 7:53Speaker 1: is about to be a crazy story. So I hates
- 7:56Speaker 1: his deer. And if for people that listen don't know,
- 7:58Speaker 1: I'm in a wheelchair, so I'm truck. I have a
- 8:00Speaker 1: lift to lift my chair. I want it off the truck.
- 8:03Speaker 1: So it had just knits, snowed, the ground's wet, everything
- 8:06Speaker 1: like that, and I'm all right, well, I just hit
- 8:08Speaker 1: this fresh deer and not about to letting get waste.
- 8:10Speaker 1: So I pulled in side road. I backed my truck
- 8:12Speaker 1: up to put the gear and back to the truck.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I thought I could lift it by myself. It turns
- 8:15Speaker 1: out back up, but you're down. Like you get in
- 8:19Speaker 1: your you get in your wheelchair, you're down on the ground.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Any wheelchair. I get out of my truck in my chair,
- 8:23Speaker 1: and then in my chair, I'm in my chair. So
- 8:26Speaker 1: i'd roll around to the deer and I'm trying to
- 8:28Speaker 1: like lift it up to put it into bed in
- 8:30Speaker 1: my truck. Huh, Okay, that didn't work out. Cars are
- 8:33Speaker 1: blown past. Actually it was like, this is where it
- 8:37Speaker 1: gets interesting. The road that I was on was closed,
- 8:40Speaker 1: but it's where I lived because of all the flooding
- 8:43Speaker 1: around here. I don't know why it was closed. I
- 8:46Speaker 1: don't know why, but I overheard somebody saying that there's
- 8:49Speaker 1: like six counties around Nashville that are closed right now,
- 8:52Speaker 1: and I was thinking, how can you close an entire county. Yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 1: it's been flooding pretty bad, Aim, But I don't know
- 8:57Speaker 1: why the road was closed. But like it was like
- 9:00Speaker 1: only one lane that was closed, So I just kind
- 9:02Speaker 1: of went around the sign um, which I probably shouldn't
- 9:05Speaker 1: have done. Um, so I'm sympathetic. I understand. You know,
- 9:09Speaker 1: my house was a mile away from there, so I
- 9:11Speaker 1: mean it's like I'm not driving all the way back
- 9:12Speaker 1: around instead go do it. So I'm trying to lift
- 9:15Speaker 1: his deer up and back in the truck. It doesn't work,
- 9:17Speaker 1: so nobody's coming by, so it's by myself. So I'm like,
- 9:20Speaker 1: all right, well, I'm just gonna use my lift on
- 9:22Speaker 1: my truck to like hoist his deer up. It's kind
- 9:25Speaker 1: of like a crane. So I was like, all right,
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna do that. So I dragged the deer to
- 9:28Speaker 1: the side of the truck and I try and like
- 9:31Speaker 1: you want this, dear bad listen. I had just I
- 9:35Speaker 1: just got a brand new truck, okay, and if I
- 9:37Speaker 1: hit a deer with a brand new truck and like
- 9:39Speaker 1: a damn it, I'm gonna get something at it. So
- 9:41Speaker 1: I mean, I gotta pay the insurance. Gonna be expensive, deer.
- 9:44Speaker 1: So I uh, I try and like pick the deer
- 9:48Speaker 1: up enough to like get the rope around it so
- 9:50Speaker 1: I could put it on back in my truck, pick
- 9:53Speaker 1: his deer up enough to like where um my body
- 9:58Speaker 1: shifted and my chair rode. I'm up, I gonna be
- 10:00Speaker 1: down the hill. So now I'm sitting on side of
- 10:03Speaker 1: the road with a deer cross my lap. My chair
- 10:06Speaker 1: is gone, and uh, I'm still trying to figure out
- 10:09Speaker 1: how we need this. So can wait by the way
- 10:11Speaker 1: and grounds wait. So I finally crawled back to my truck,
- 10:15Speaker 1: get to lift, hook it up, and I uh get
- 10:19Speaker 1: to dear in better truck. What I didn't realize is
- 10:23Speaker 1: I needed to lift to get my chair on back
- 10:25Speaker 1: in the truck. M So now I gotta tear with situations.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I finally get all to take care of the next day,
- 10:31Speaker 1: this is going back to skinning in the yard. The
- 10:33Speaker 1: next day, buddy of mine comes over and uh, we're
- 10:36Speaker 1: trying to figure out what we're gonna clean his deer at.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Literally we take it to my apartment, through the house
- 10:44Speaker 1: and skintting on the porch. That's good thinking. Yeah, if
- 10:50Speaker 1: they hear this, I'm probably gonna get you. Yeah, Like
- 10:54Speaker 1: your landlord right now is like, hold on, what's this
- 10:56Speaker 1: dude's name? Yeah, I just running this dude in the place.
- 11:00Speaker 1: By the way, my name is John Travolta. Yeah, Well
- 11:03Speaker 1: show me where it says that in the least, you know. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:07Speaker 1: was it a bucker dough. It was a small dude,
- 11:10Speaker 1: So you got to the freezer. Oh yeah, I'm gonna
- 11:14Speaker 1: have a it's probably backtraps this weekend. You got a girlfriend, No,
- 11:19Speaker 1: I do not know, so you don't have anybody cooking
- 11:21Speaker 1: for No, I can't cook with the crap. So I'm
- 11:26Speaker 1: gonna burn his deer. Just let you know. So let's
- 11:30Speaker 1: go back to when you were younger, Like you're loving
- 11:32Speaker 1: and you strike off and go figure out deer hunting. Yeah,
- 11:36Speaker 1: so I figured out and yuh and what kind of
- 11:38Speaker 1: area you hunting and like like like public land or
- 11:40Speaker 1: you guys know people we had, um, friends of my dad's.
- 11:44Speaker 1: We just you know, go hunt in their place and
- 11:47Speaker 1: it's we're hunting the swamp. Sometime we're hunting, you know,
- 11:51Speaker 1: a lot of pines and wheezing animal were um, there's
- 11:54Speaker 1: some hardwood timbers, um. But it's it just depends, you know,
- 11:58Speaker 1: every every hundred miles, it's the rain changes a little bit,
- 12:02Speaker 1: so you know, you never know what you're gonna get into. Um.
- 12:04Speaker 1: So after that, like the next couple of the next
- 12:06Speaker 1: couple of years, I was like, all right, I'm really
- 12:07Speaker 1: intrigued by deer hunting. So my dad had a cabinet shop.
- 12:10Speaker 1: He's um carpenter, and like he was a working shop.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And while he's there, I'd go hunting. I go back
- 12:15Speaker 1: behind place and hunting, um and then going on a
- 12:19Speaker 1: little further. I h came across turkey hunting magazine, TV
- 12:24Speaker 1: shows or whatever however, found it and I was like, okay, cool,
- 12:27Speaker 1: I want to turkey hunt. You know, I wanna hunt
- 12:29Speaker 1: all year round, so I want to go rabbit hunting morning,
- 12:32Speaker 1: deer hunting afternoon. With spring time. I want turkey hunt.
- 12:35Speaker 1: So and your old man wasn't a turkey hunter. No, no,
- 12:39Speaker 1: nobody know, like saying my final family small game hunting,
- 12:42Speaker 1: Like they didn't know anything about deer hunting, turkey hunting,
- 12:45Speaker 1: none of that. Um. So I was like, all right,
- 12:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna getting books, you know, go Walmart, by some calls,
- 12:53Speaker 1: stuff like that, just to try and do it. So
- 12:55Speaker 1: we get all that stuff take care of and uh
- 12:58Speaker 1: we go turkey hunting. One Sunday, I church and uh
- 13:01Speaker 1: we're sitting there in middle of day and uh, I'm
- 13:04Speaker 1: about yards with my dad and UM start calling and
- 13:12Speaker 1: I'm an okay, caller at this time, I was okay,
- 13:15Speaker 1: and uh and what what kind of calls were using
- 13:18Speaker 1: back when you used to use calls? I think I had, um, like, uh,
- 13:24Speaker 1: one of those pushbox calls. I think this would have had.
- 13:27Speaker 1: And uh, I don't remember what my I think my
- 13:29Speaker 1: dad had a a slate call. Whatever you had it
- 13:32Speaker 1: sound it's so bad. Here's the worst turkey call ever.
- 13:36Speaker 1: So I'm I'm like, I'm a bit better better than
- 13:39Speaker 1: your dad. It's it's a close race, it's very close race.
- 13:44Speaker 1: So um, how this turkey game like this is? This
- 13:49Speaker 1: is like where I'm gonna take credit from you because
- 13:53Speaker 1: as bad as he called a turkey, steel came in.
- 13:56Speaker 1: So well, here's the thing, man, I want to clarify.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I am deadly on turkey. I get all kinds of turkeys.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I prove a point. Steve called in a turkey for
- 14:05Speaker 1: me last spring. I prove a point by getting I
- 14:09Speaker 1: use my bad I use my my poor calling time
- 14:14Speaker 1: everything everything else I do nice and I you know,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and I drive around in my vehicle now calling to
- 14:19Speaker 1: practice more. But we're not here to talk about We're
- 14:22Speaker 1: here to talk about my So you know this is
- 14:24Speaker 1: this is This is a theory I have about turkey hunting.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Turkey hunky is like dating at a bar. I like
- 14:30Speaker 1: it already. Already. It's like going to a bar. Like
- 14:34Speaker 1: the time that you want. You have to have like
- 14:37Speaker 1: a high class call to get his attention. The later
- 14:40Speaker 1: in the day, the drunker, the worsher call can be,
- 14:44Speaker 1: the more he's interested. Like I said, there's a ten
- 14:47Speaker 1: at two and a two at ten. I go the
- 14:49Speaker 1: same with turkey hunting. You could sound like the worst
- 14:52Speaker 1: hand in the woods at ten o'clock in the morning.
- 14:54Speaker 1: He gets away from his hand, no matter that it's
- 14:57Speaker 1: easy bird to kill. If he got what you could
- 14:59Speaker 1: kill him. Yeah, that's interesting. I do kill a lot
- 15:01Speaker 1: of turkeys around ten am. We're just talking about I
- 15:07Speaker 1: like the way we said it better though, you know
- 15:10Speaker 1: to remember that, all right? So I want to keep
- 15:16Speaker 1: tracking what happened. What happened you get into into a
- 15:20Speaker 1: transformed in many levels of transformative accident that you get
- 15:27Speaker 1: into turkey hunt. Are we on like the turkey hunt? Yeah?
- 15:30Speaker 1: This is a hunt? Like we, uh, my dad, we
- 15:33Speaker 1: go down this place. We you and your old man
- 15:35Speaker 1: are hunting together. Yeah. Yeah, So we go to a
- 15:36Speaker 1: place where we rabbit hunted, and um, I found if
- 15:39Speaker 1: we're going down its gravel road, I find a feather
- 15:41Speaker 1: in the road. I was a hundred percent sure that
- 15:43Speaker 1: it was a turkey feather. Looking back at it now,
- 15:45Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it was like a hawk feather. So
- 15:48Speaker 1: I'm not sure that turkey's on this place. So we
- 15:50Speaker 1: go set up and um, just based off the presence
- 15:53Speaker 1: of a feather, I was thirteen, Steve dogging on it.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I'm not dogging on just want to make sure I'm
- 15:59Speaker 1: understand like you like, you're just not you're not hearing
- 16:01Speaker 1: gobbles and whatnot. No, no, no, it's it's like, I
- 16:03Speaker 1: don't know, ten eleven o'clock in the day. You know,
- 16:07Speaker 1: we just first time. We're just going out there, like
- 16:09Speaker 1: I think he just wanted to shut me up as
- 16:10Speaker 1: a kig, and that's all I talked about. So we
- 16:12Speaker 1: go out there and we, you know, kid yards far
- 16:16Speaker 1: from each other, and he's sitting on one tree and
- 16:18Speaker 1: I'm sitting on another tree, and we're calling back and forth,
- 16:21Speaker 1: and uh, he had a twelve games of double buck
- 16:23Speaker 1: shots and I had a fourteen. And I'm not gonna
- 16:26Speaker 1: lie to think I had like a slug in here
- 16:27Speaker 1: or something like that. I was like, it's bigger than
- 16:30Speaker 1: a chicken, shoot a bigger load. Yeah, I mean that's
- 16:33Speaker 1: that was just my mind to you guys. Just weren't
- 16:34Speaker 1: you guys weren't tuned into the rules and whatnot. No, no, first,
- 16:38Speaker 1: turkey hu, I'm not gonna lie to you, Steve, like,
- 16:41Speaker 1: I did not do my research on this part. You're
- 16:44Speaker 1: a kid man, Yeah, it's just you know, one of
- 16:46Speaker 1: those things now, I know, because I never want to
- 16:49Speaker 1: get a shot what Yeah, I mean I grew you know,
- 16:52Speaker 1: there's a lot of Yeah, when you're young, it was all.
- 16:56Speaker 1: It's all kind of you don't even need to apologize. Man,
- 16:58Speaker 1: when you're young at a certain for a long time,
- 17:01Speaker 1: you're relying on the people around you, like you rely
- 17:05Speaker 1: on the people around you to know like what's up
- 17:07Speaker 1: and what you're supposed to do. And even when you know,
- 17:10Speaker 1: I found it being young, even when you know stuff
- 17:12Speaker 1: you're not supposed to do, if the older people around
- 17:14Speaker 1: you do it, you just took it as being that
- 17:15Speaker 1: that's like how you would do it. You know, it's
- 17:18Speaker 1: funny that you brought that. I gotta tell tell them, buddy,
- 17:20Speaker 1: my other day is like growing up as a kid,
- 17:22Speaker 1: like I didn't know what no trust back, So it
- 17:24Speaker 1: was you see what was that went hunting? I mean
- 17:27Speaker 1: that was It's a different time period, but I mean
- 17:31Speaker 1: I didn't know what a no trust backs. I was
- 17:32Speaker 1: my old man would go down the road if if
- 17:34Speaker 1: someone had too many up, he'd think it was kind
- 17:36Speaker 1: of an eyesore and him, his body, Eugene would go
- 17:38Speaker 1: down and they'd take him down. Just different, different, different
- 17:44Speaker 1: generation man. And then when you're young, it's like, you know,
- 17:48Speaker 1: you have to be pretty old to question your old
- 17:49Speaker 1: man like you were your old man's I don't know,
- 17:51Speaker 1: I assume my old man knows what's going on. I
- 17:53Speaker 1: know I knew that there was laying there, his animals own,
- 17:55Speaker 1: and I want to go hunt. So we're calling and
- 18:00Speaker 1: the turkey comes behind the uh behind the tree I
- 18:02Speaker 1: was sitting on and uh, I can see my dad
- 18:05Speaker 1: off to my left and he's getting ready and he
- 18:08Speaker 1: don't see me, and uh, he don't see because he
- 18:11Speaker 1: didn't know where you went and set up well, I
- 18:13Speaker 1: mean I was wearing Roald Tree camouflage. I mean, I'm
- 18:15Speaker 1: blended with everything. Shout out the road Tree for that,
- 18:19Speaker 1: I'm just joking. So he doesn't see me because like,
- 18:23Speaker 1: like I said, I'm tucked against a tree, and I
- 18:25Speaker 1: think he's more focused on the bird. And when he shoots,
- 18:29Speaker 1: like before he shoots, like I can see him, like
- 18:32Speaker 1: put put the gun up, and like I could see
- 18:35Speaker 1: the whole like everything going and he puts the gun up.
- 18:38Speaker 1: The turkey no turkeys behind me, I can't so like, oh,
- 18:43Speaker 1: I'm facing forward. He's to my left by twenty yards,
- 18:47Speaker 1: Like I can't behind behind you, barely behind you. Yeah,
- 18:53Speaker 1: So I I just stay still on the tree because
- 18:54Speaker 1: I know that you know something is there. So I
- 18:58Speaker 1: just stay still and um, I can look out of
- 19:01Speaker 1: the corner of my eye, like I tilt my head
- 19:03Speaker 1: just enough to see him click the safety off and
- 19:06Speaker 1: pull the jugger, and I see fire. My body goes numb,
- 19:09Speaker 1: ringing in my ears and like I just can't do anything,
- 19:12Speaker 1: Like my body goes completely numb. He runs over, he
- 19:15Speaker 1: picks me up, and uh he's carrying me out of woods.
- 19:18Speaker 1: And I was like that you shot me. You know,
- 19:20Speaker 1: he's got nine one in the phone. He's carrying me
- 19:22Speaker 1: out of the woods and uh e m s gets
- 19:25Speaker 1: there and he put me in the back of um,
- 19:27Speaker 1: the back of the truck. And I was like, this
- 19:30Speaker 1: is it. I'm done for Lord, just Lord, just protect
- 19:33Speaker 1: my dad. It's it. How many of those buckshot pellets? Seven? Ye?
- 19:40Speaker 1: I cat hit my esophagus, um, my left arm. I
- 19:44Speaker 1: want hit my left arm across my chest. Two of
- 19:47Speaker 1: my right arm. I still have one of my pelvits
- 19:50Speaker 1: still have one of my right shoulder. Oh, my lunging stomach.
- 19:56Speaker 1: And one hit my spine T one T two area.
- 19:59Speaker 1: We're is that it's an upper um, like just right
- 20:03Speaker 1: about the um mid chest. One hit your spine mm hmm. Yeah.
- 20:12Speaker 1: And so that was your last like lower body movement
- 20:15Speaker 1: ever was that day? And then the thing is, you know,
- 20:18Speaker 1: I was, I was a point guard for basketball. I
- 20:22Speaker 1: was you know, high up on the baseball. I mean
- 20:24Speaker 1: I love baseball and basketball. I mean I was had
- 20:27Speaker 1: a pretty good athletic thing going on. And uh it's
- 20:31Speaker 1: like that in the moment taking away, So I uh
- 20:35Speaker 1: I get that aside from your general running around in
- 20:38Speaker 1: the woods all the time, from the sounds up yeah yeah,
- 20:41Speaker 1: I mean yeah, no, I mean you couldn't have had
- 20:43Speaker 1: any idea what was going on. I had no idea,
- 20:46Speaker 1: you know, I knew that I got shot. That's all
- 20:48Speaker 1: new and you couldn't but obviously you couldn't move no
- 20:53Speaker 1: good day, like I had ringing in my ears, body
- 20:55Speaker 1: completely numb. Huh, I mean it was. It was pretty
- 20:59Speaker 1: much like I was life and I was just look,
- 21:01Speaker 1: I had enough energy to look that's it. And what
- 21:06Speaker 1: uh your old man carried you, but he makes a
- 21:09Speaker 1: call and just carries you off to where an ambulance
- 21:12Speaker 1: can get to. So I get into the back of
- 21:15Speaker 1: the ambulets and uh, a blackout. The funny thing is,
- 21:18Speaker 1: I didn't know I could get blacker, but I blacked out.
- 21:23Speaker 1: So I wake up and there's his lights is a
- 21:27Speaker 1: beautiful blond lady. She's like Josh, Josh. And I looked
- 21:29Speaker 1: there like you're an angel. She's like, no, I'm your NURSEU.
- 21:32Speaker 1: It's like, dang, your always trying to get your wing
- 21:33Speaker 1: number one up. And uh. From there, you know, the
- 21:38Speaker 1: doctors came in and I had I think I had
- 21:41Speaker 1: thirteen surgeries and I died on the operating table twice.
- 21:46Speaker 1: And I stayed in the hospital for I want to
- 21:48Speaker 1: say three months, and they were suscitated. You. Yeah, thirteen
- 21:56Speaker 1: surgeries and in within that three months. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Had uh like my whole like under my chest, like
- 22:06Speaker 1: from my stomach down like past my belly button, cut open,
- 22:09Speaker 1: my back, um, from the base of my neck all
- 22:12Speaker 1: the way down my pelvis is cut open. Um, I
- 22:15Speaker 1: just cuts down my side. I mean I look like
- 22:18Speaker 1: Frankinsan just to be a clear vision of it. And
- 22:22Speaker 1: and were you, um, were you conscious for most of
- 22:28Speaker 1: this time part of this time, you know, with the accident.
- 22:33Speaker 1: So when they transferred me from one hospital to another, Um,
- 22:37Speaker 1: I don't know how it's happened, but they dropped me
- 22:39Speaker 1: on a helicopter, so like on the like the guaranty
- 22:43Speaker 1: would ever transform me. They dropped me on a helicopter.
- 22:45Speaker 1: My head hit the base of it and it it
- 22:49Speaker 1: put a I don't know, it messed my head up.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Like so if I ever take my hat off, like
- 22:53Speaker 1: I have a big um like a big missing spot
- 22:56Speaker 1: in the scar in the back of my head. It's
- 22:58Speaker 1: like my memory is like very bad it from it
- 23:00Speaker 1: really so so what like what's the state of your
- 23:05Speaker 1: father while this is going on? Honestly, couldn't tell you.
- 23:09Speaker 1: I mean I wasn't. I wasn't. I just can't. I
- 23:17Speaker 1: it was it just your dad as your mom around
- 23:19Speaker 1: to my mom's around. My whole family is there. But
- 23:21Speaker 1: I mean being in the hospital of so long, I
- 23:23Speaker 1: mean I was on so much medication and you know
- 23:26Speaker 1: the fact that I couldn't even remember stuff. I don't know.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I got you. So you mean like during
- 23:31Speaker 1: this month or three months, you don't know what your
- 23:33Speaker 1: father or stayed was you're trying to stay alive. Yeah,
- 23:36Speaker 1: I mean, I just, I mean I knew that I
- 23:39Speaker 1: had people come visit me. I mean I I vagualely
- 23:41Speaker 1: remember people come to visit me. Um. But other than that,
- 23:43Speaker 1: I think I was so medicated that I slept most
- 23:47Speaker 1: of it. I mean I just either that or I've
- 23:50Speaker 1: blocked it out mentally. And I just I just, like
- 23:54Speaker 1: I said, honestly don't know. So at what point did
- 23:57Speaker 1: it become There's kind of two transitions. I'm curious about
- 24:01Speaker 1: what point did it become that you that the dust
- 24:04Speaker 1: settles and you know that probably barring some kind of
- 24:12Speaker 1: medical you know, breakthrough that doesn't yet exists, you'd like
- 24:16Speaker 1: probably never walk again. Uh when do you know that
- 24:21Speaker 1: to be true? And then when how long goes by
- 24:26Speaker 1: before you're sort of like ready to attack life again.
- 24:29Speaker 1: So the doctors came in and UH said, you know
- 24:32Speaker 1: you've been shot. You know you're paralyzed. You want me
- 24:34Speaker 1: to walk again. But it's I'm not fully paralyzed. Like
- 24:38Speaker 1: the bullet. It's severed my sponic corp but didn't cut
- 24:41Speaker 1: it all the way. So it's the body super weird.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Um So like I can like feel things, I just
- 24:48Speaker 1: can't walk. Oh, but it's not like a normal touch.
- 24:52Speaker 1: It's more like a tangling sensation. It's like for a
- 24:55Speaker 1: spontic cordage. I can't regulate my body tempature. So if
- 24:58Speaker 1: I get hot, it's like I'm you about to pass out,
- 25:01Speaker 1: And I stay cold all time, even if it's like
- 25:03Speaker 1: seventy degrees and wind blows because the spinal cord and
- 25:06Speaker 1: I just can't regulate my bodies because it doesn't send
- 25:09Speaker 1: those signals to my brain correctly. That's something I've never
- 25:12Speaker 1: thought about before. No, no, So I mean I always
- 25:15Speaker 1: say it just being like a movement thing. I never
- 25:17Speaker 1: think about it being like other other functions. It message,
- 25:21Speaker 1: it message your whole body up. I mean it just
- 25:23Speaker 1: because I mean those the nerves that it trans it
- 25:26Speaker 1: goes to your brain and it sends it back down
- 25:28Speaker 1: to wherever, you know, even your fingers or like you
- 25:31Speaker 1: want to move your legs, that all trans goes up
- 25:33Speaker 1: your you know. That's I guess it's like a railroad
- 25:36Speaker 1: going back up to your brain. You know. Just if
- 25:40Speaker 1: that if it's cut, there's no signal, it can't receive that,
- 25:44Speaker 1: so you just don't work. Do you are you able to? Um? Like,
- 25:50Speaker 1: like if you say you imagine you want to move
- 25:53Speaker 1: your leg, do you are you at this point remember
- 25:56Speaker 1: like what that felt like to like without thinking about
- 25:59Speaker 1: you like go to move your leg and it would move,
- 26:01Speaker 1: like you still have the sense that you can make
- 26:03Speaker 1: like the impulse to do it, but it just isn't answered.
- 26:07Speaker 1: So have you ever heard like like you think it's
- 26:10Speaker 1: called phantom like phantom pains. It's more like that. But
- 26:16Speaker 1: I still have my limbs so I can like feel it,
- 26:21Speaker 1: but it doesn't really do anything. So I guess like
- 26:25Speaker 1: mentally it's there, but physically it's not so and it's aggravating.
- 26:29Speaker 1: It's it's very aggravating. Um oh, I can only imagine.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I never like when I first started doing therapy, I
- 26:35Speaker 1: could have a little bit of like movement in my feet.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Um intentional movement, yes, but I just I guess being
- 26:46Speaker 1: in a chair for so long, my muscles just tightened
- 26:49Speaker 1: up so much that he just I don't know if
- 26:51Speaker 1: he just doesn't I don't know if it's my muscles
- 26:55Speaker 1: just too tight, they just can't get the signal, can't
- 26:57Speaker 1: get there. I have no and I don't understand it.
- 26:59Speaker 1: So just one of those deals where I just we're
- 27:01Speaker 1: all with it and keep going. Uh. Okay, of the
- 27:05Speaker 1: second part, after your accident, you get clear about what
- 27:10Speaker 1: your future is gonna look like that you're probably it's
- 27:12Speaker 1: robbly hard to comprehend, but how many months or years
- 27:15Speaker 1: goes by before you sort of are like that, You're
- 27:18Speaker 1: back in like you're alive, You're a human being here
- 27:21Speaker 1: on earth. There's ship you gotta do right, You're gonna
- 27:26Speaker 1: like you gotta resume school, find a way to enjoy yourself.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Like what is the gap? Like two weeks I got
- 27:34Speaker 1: to the hospital and uh two weeks two weeks after
- 27:38Speaker 1: me now the house whenever, right back, honey, no ship, Yeah,
- 27:42Speaker 1: you gotta be toughier. Who stupid? Who did that decision?
- 27:46Speaker 1: It was me? So um the thing was like I
- 27:49Speaker 1: was being babied so much and I didn't like that,
- 27:52Speaker 1: you know, and um, maybe which is one of those
- 27:54Speaker 1: deals where I just like I don't want to be
- 27:56Speaker 1: baby like that stuff happens, Like I'm not gonna be
- 27:59Speaker 1: sitting here and be someone's like burden. And that's what
- 28:02Speaker 1: I felt like. I felt like a burden to my
- 28:04Speaker 1: family's take care of me. I mean, that's just my
- 28:06Speaker 1: whole life just changed. So, um, one day my mom
- 28:11Speaker 1: was in the house. I was like, look, I went
- 28:13Speaker 1: hut and she's like what and she was like, I
- 28:16Speaker 1: will finish killing you, like you're you're not going hunting
- 28:19Speaker 1: like so, uh, that day I made her very mad
- 28:24Speaker 1: because I went back hunting in the wheelchair obviously. So
- 28:27Speaker 1: from that point, I had to uh learn how to adapt.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's it was a hell of a
- 28:33Speaker 1: challenge and it still is, you know nowadays. But going
- 28:36Speaker 1: from like using your limbs and then like transferring to
- 28:40Speaker 1: a chair and trying to figure out how to get
- 28:42Speaker 1: across logs and rocks and stuff like that, that's hard
- 28:45Speaker 1: as hell. Like that's challenging, but that challenge is what
- 28:50Speaker 1: drives me, Like, that's what makes me want to do more,
- 28:53Speaker 1: like if I see something that I can't do or
- 28:56Speaker 1: I feel like it's not in the card, like that
- 29:00Speaker 1: makes me insane, Like that makes me want to do
- 29:02Speaker 1: it even more so going out after the accident that
- 29:07Speaker 1: made my drive and pass. We're honey so much more.
- 29:10Speaker 1: This guy, this sounds like a dumb Maybe it's not
- 29:13Speaker 1: a dumb question if you can think about it this way.
- 29:16Speaker 1: What you know, you're only thirteam when you when you
- 29:21Speaker 1: were injured, But what percent, like what percentage of the
- 29:24Speaker 1: places right that you might normally have gone became just
- 29:29Speaker 1: inaccessible to you? I mean, yeah, yeah, so you were
- 29:34Speaker 1: off stopping through the swamp and oh yeah, it's I
- 29:38Speaker 1: mean honestly, like I could roll through the yard. I
- 29:42Speaker 1: was gonna ask, like your home situation, yea, Like did
- 29:46Speaker 1: your dad have to do some serious carpentry work on
- 29:49Speaker 1: the bomb? Yeah, I mean I had to like get
- 29:51Speaker 1: a ramp and like like everything had to be modified.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I mean just I mean the house at stairs had
- 29:58Speaker 1: to get a ramp or um widden bathroom doors or
- 30:02Speaker 1: whiten doors for um, the bedroom where um making cabinets
- 30:07Speaker 1: lower for me to get into them, and stuff like that.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I mean, like everything at that moment changed. I mean
- 30:13Speaker 1: it's one of those things where you go from you know,
- 30:15Speaker 1: having a normal life to like you mean it's pretty
- 30:18Speaker 1: much having to depend on someone or have things accessible
- 30:25Speaker 1: for you, um and your lifestyle. I mean it's just
- 30:27Speaker 1: like in a instant, it just changed. So I mean,
- 30:32Speaker 1: like saying your daily activities. You know, if I just
- 30:34Speaker 1: wanted to you know, get up and go take shower whatever,
- 30:37Speaker 1: I mean, it took me a lot longer to just
- 30:39Speaker 1: to do that, um, like getting dressed. I mean it
- 30:43Speaker 1: make may have taken me, you know, three minutes to
- 30:46Speaker 1: get dressed normally. I mean that transferred their fifteen minutes.
- 30:50Speaker 1: You know, just because I have I have to pretty
- 30:54Speaker 1: much my arms and my my my arms and my
- 31:00Speaker 1: my crutch for my legs too. So it just it
- 31:03Speaker 1: just makes it a lot, makes things a lot harder.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I think transferring from like my chair to a car
- 31:10Speaker 1: to a tub or two, the mad all that made
- 31:14Speaker 1: it so much challenging. And then liked thirteen years old,
- 31:17Speaker 1: like I was a scrawning kid, Like I didn't have
- 31:20Speaker 1: much at all to throw my weight around. So I
- 31:24Speaker 1: mean it just it made everything that much more challenging.
- 31:28Speaker 1: What was how was your dad doing like, like, once
- 31:33Speaker 1: it was clear that you were okay and you were
- 31:35Speaker 1: ready to get back on it, was your dad just
- 31:37Speaker 1: so guilt ridden that he was he wasn't able to
- 31:40Speaker 1: function or was he able to be a dad, to
- 31:44Speaker 1: do a good job being a dad despite that guilt. Honestly,
- 31:49Speaker 1: I really I don't know. I mean, like, once I
- 31:56Speaker 1: started getting back into, um, the hunting side of things,
- 32:01Speaker 1: I think that it made him a little bit easier
- 32:05Speaker 1: about situation, knowing that I wasn't letting it stop me.
- 32:09Speaker 1: So I think that was like a settling point. I mean, obviously,
- 32:13Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure you in the back of his mind,
- 32:15Speaker 1: you know, he's like, okay, well he goes this is
- 32:17Speaker 1: you know, because of me. Um. I mean, I'm pretty
- 32:21Speaker 1: sure you had guilt for that, But that time period,
- 32:24Speaker 1: I just I just don't remember that much. Do you think, like,
- 32:27Speaker 1: looking back on it, do you think that um, for
- 32:30Speaker 1: a dad in a situation like that, do you think
- 32:33Speaker 1: it's better for the dad to just carry on and
- 32:35Speaker 1: be strong or do you or do you think of
- 32:38Speaker 1: someone wants to see the guilt. Honestly, I don't. I mean,
- 32:46Speaker 1: it's life, life happens. I mean, no, you you have
- 32:50Speaker 1: no control of the cards, So holding yourself at blame
- 32:55Speaker 1: and being guilty or having that guilty conscious about it.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I mean, of course, you know you're gonna think about
- 33:00Speaker 1: it's gonna beaning back of your head and all that stuff,
- 33:02Speaker 1: because you know that's that's life. You're here human, that's
- 33:05Speaker 1: what's gonna happen. But I don't think. I think guilt
- 33:08Speaker 1: will um drive you to an early grave if you
- 33:12Speaker 1: let it. And I think him seeing me push forward
- 33:15Speaker 1: and not letting it get a hold of me made
- 33:18Speaker 1: him a lot stronger. Oh that's an interesting way you're
- 33:21Speaker 1: looking at it. Yeah, did what was your feeling about?
- 33:25Speaker 1: And you've been injured by a firearm, But I mean
- 33:28Speaker 1: you started hunting right away. You didn't have any sort
- 33:30Speaker 1: of like you didn't have um fear of or anger
- 33:34Speaker 1: towards toting a shotgun around the woods, like you didn't
- 33:37Speaker 1: look at it like, man, that's the thing that almost
- 33:38Speaker 1: took my life. Actually I did. I kind of had
- 33:42Speaker 1: like a honestly steals it this day, I'm very weary
- 33:46Speaker 1: around some firearms. That's why I love both hunting so much.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I mean, it's just I've got to bow hunting. I
- 33:53Speaker 1: think it's like fifteen sixteen, and I just really stuck
- 33:57Speaker 1: with it. I mean, I don't try a lot of people. Gods,
- 34:01Speaker 1: it's not it's not the it's not the fact that
- 34:03Speaker 1: I don't trust them. It's just the fact that it's
- 34:06Speaker 1: it's a man made item and anything you're wrong ang time.
- 34:11Speaker 1: So I mean, I guess I kind of have a
- 34:13Speaker 1: little bit of PTSD towards it. But that's understandable. I mean, yeah,
- 34:17Speaker 1: I could also understand you said, and I never went
- 34:19Speaker 1: in the woods again. Yeah, now, but I um, but
- 34:23Speaker 1: even I'll carry I'll shoot an animal to rifle me.
- 34:27Speaker 1: That doesn't bother me. But still at certain points, like
- 34:31Speaker 1: it's just I just I have that PTSD. They just
- 34:36Speaker 1: like that that mental images in my head. I just
- 34:41Speaker 1: sometimes just freaks me out. Board than anything to tell
- 34:46Speaker 1: people about, Um, how you became interested in in turkey
- 34:51Speaker 1: calling and realized that somehow you're injury like manifested in
- 34:58Speaker 1: such a way that you were able to have this
- 35:00Speaker 1: like super special talent. How that's easy. I didn't have
- 35:03Speaker 1: friends growing up. I'm just joking. So, um, well, I
- 35:09Speaker 1: didn't know if you could tell me that your friends
- 35:10Speaker 1: bailed on you because you were in a wheelchair. I
- 35:12Speaker 1: don't know, no, uh, then the herd a little bit. Yeah,
- 35:19Speaker 1: so uh in high school, like I was like, like
- 35:23Speaker 1: the cafeteria is like half a mile from the school.
- 35:26Speaker 1: It's like I had to get people to like push
- 35:28Speaker 1: me down to the cafeteria. Stuff like that just became
- 35:31Speaker 1: a pain. Like I felt like it was such a
- 35:32Speaker 1: bird to like my friends and family. So I just
- 35:35Speaker 1: I think my high school years started making me very
- 35:39Speaker 1: independent and I'm grateful for that. Like really, yeah, I'm
- 35:42Speaker 1: super grateful that, um because the fact is, like I
- 35:47Speaker 1: live by the school. Like you don't know who you
- 35:49Speaker 1: are as a person until you were absolutely alone, and
- 35:53Speaker 1: you know I was. I guess I was comfortable, um
- 35:59Speaker 1: being a dependent there, like depending on someone until I
- 36:03Speaker 1: didn't have that someone and then figure out who I
- 36:07Speaker 1: was as a person and leaning on myself more. Becoming
- 36:10Speaker 1: more independent made me truly, um, like I don't know,
- 36:17Speaker 1: it made me super interested in myself, like my capabilities,
- 36:22Speaker 1: like what makes me tick? Like what's my passion with
- 36:24Speaker 1: drives me? And I think that's what, um, those high
- 36:28Speaker 1: school years did to me, because I mean I had friends,
- 36:32Speaker 1: but I had to fend for myself. You know, um,
- 36:36Speaker 1: I had people, my friends are going to lunch and
- 36:37Speaker 1: just you know it's like, oh, you know, we forgot
- 36:40Speaker 1: about Josh. And I'm like, all right, cool, I'm sitting
- 36:43Speaker 1: here waiting on somebody to help me with launch. You know,
- 36:45Speaker 1: it's already an hour pass and I still it eating.
- 36:47Speaker 1: So you know, I just it built me. It started
- 36:51Speaker 1: building my character. Um so I'm appreciative of that. Oh
- 36:56Speaker 1: but man, I can imagine that just by no fault
- 36:59Speaker 1: of your own, it could just is easily destroy your character. Man,
- 37:03Speaker 1: some people, no, I mean your person becoming just like uh,
- 37:09Speaker 1: sociopathics not the right works that has like such a
- 37:12Speaker 1: I guess, like just like losing faith in people. Yeah.
- 37:14Speaker 1: So I mean I was, you know, early on in
- 37:16Speaker 1: my my years, I was at that point like I
- 37:19Speaker 1: was how I was in such a bad place I was,
- 37:22Speaker 1: you know, I felt like I was a bird everybody.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I mean, I've contplated suicide. I mean I went through
- 37:27Speaker 1: that whole route of depression, but having a mindset of
- 37:33Speaker 1: you know, God left me here for a reason, and
- 37:36Speaker 1: I battled God, I'm not gonna sit here lot to you.
- 37:38Speaker 1: I mean I was like, you know, you say you
- 37:40Speaker 1: love your child, Why would you do this to me? Like? What? What? Like?
- 37:43Speaker 1: What were you thinking? Like? I had my battles, you know,
- 37:46Speaker 1: I faced my demons and I've I've been down that route.
- 37:49Speaker 1: But you know, being able to appreciate the little things
- 37:54Speaker 1: in life makes it so much better as you keep going.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Cherishing knows moments, I mean, And I think that's what
- 38:02Speaker 1: got me through my darkest times was realizing that even
- 38:05Speaker 1: though I had lost my legs, I still had so
- 38:08Speaker 1: much more um you know, just being able to um
- 38:13Speaker 1: sit back and be like, Okay, I still have life.
- 38:16Speaker 1: You know, I still can breathe. You know, I still
- 38:18Speaker 1: can do what I want to do, even though I
- 38:20Speaker 1: have to do it a little bit different. You know,
- 38:22Speaker 1: it's not worth me, you know, committing suicide or like
- 38:27Speaker 1: taking myself away from my family, even though like I
- 38:30Speaker 1: felt like that was a better where it's just an
- 38:32Speaker 1: exit plan, you know, but it's not. It's not a
- 38:35Speaker 1: good exit plan. When you thought about when you thought
- 38:38Speaker 1: about suicide, was it were you imagining that it's um
- 38:43Speaker 1: that it takes you out of it, like it takes
- 38:45Speaker 1: you out of yourself, or you imagine it takes you
- 38:48Speaker 1: away from all the people that you don't want to
- 38:50Speaker 1: be that. You don't want to feel like a burden too,
- 38:53Speaker 1: like who are you doing a favorite to you or
- 38:54Speaker 1: your family? For me, I felt like it was more
- 38:57Speaker 1: of a favorite to my family like suicide would have
- 39:00Speaker 1: and that. Yeah, yeah, but I mean still like just
- 39:03Speaker 1: obviously like it's like intense depression. Oh yeah, you know,
- 39:06Speaker 1: super intenste depression like I was because like I said,
- 39:08Speaker 1: I mean I had to depend so much on other
- 39:11Speaker 1: people and they had to go out of ways just
- 39:14Speaker 1: to make sure that I was doing something or like
- 39:17Speaker 1: I was better, like I had to take medicine or
- 39:19Speaker 1: like whatever the situation was. I felt like I was
- 39:22Speaker 1: such a birden on other people that it may be miserable.
- 39:25Speaker 1: We'd eat me up inside. Well, just the thinking of
- 39:29Speaker 1: like you know what you said, Well, now it's an
- 39:31Speaker 1: extra fifteen minutes to get dressed, and it's an extra
- 39:34Speaker 1: ten minutes to do this, and extra this much time
- 39:36Speaker 1: and this much time just and then to and that's
- 39:39Speaker 1: just to navigate normal everyday life and then be like,
- 39:43Speaker 1: but I'm also going to try to still hunt. It's
- 39:46Speaker 1: just like the layers of complication. It just had to
- 39:49Speaker 1: have been so daunting early early on especially you know,
- 39:53Speaker 1: I remember the writer Jim Harrison, who we talked about
- 39:55Speaker 1: a fair bit um. He used to suffer from horrible depressions,
- 40:00Speaker 1: and he described one time being in such a state
- 40:04Speaker 1: of depression that it was like he couldn't picture getting
- 40:08Speaker 1: dried off with a towel after getting out of it. It
- 40:11Speaker 1: It just seemed like too much of a hassle. And
- 40:14Speaker 1: he talked about a friend of his one time demonstrating
- 40:17Speaker 1: a very quick efficient way to dry off with a
- 40:21Speaker 1: towel after the shower, and him trying to like memorize
- 40:25Speaker 1: the how to do it because even that was just
- 40:29Speaker 1: more than he wanted to deal with in that in
- 40:33Speaker 1: that state, right, it's made a depressure right there. I
- 40:36Speaker 1: mean at least did a shower as a plus side. So, uh,
- 40:42Speaker 1: talking about the Turkey column man. So with my accident,
- 40:46Speaker 1: like so, I had a bullet hit my soft case. Um,
- 40:49Speaker 1: I had a breathing to my throat for a very
- 40:52Speaker 1: long time, and the doctors came in and said, well,
- 40:54Speaker 1: you won't be able to talk again. You're gonna need
- 40:56Speaker 1: a trake. And when he told me that, I was like,
- 40:58Speaker 1: you're wrong, No, I pulled. I actually pulled the tube
- 41:01Speaker 1: out of my throat. I totally doctors like, now you're
- 41:03Speaker 1: wrong and what I did so he thought like you
- 41:06Speaker 1: could talk, but they're gonna do something to you that
- 41:08Speaker 1: it will make it that you can't talk. The breathing
- 41:10Speaker 1: tub was in my throat for so long that it
- 41:13Speaker 1: damaged my vocal cords. So I was gonna need a track,
- 41:16Speaker 1: like I was gonna have to talk with the Oh
- 41:18Speaker 1: I'm with you now, I got you, I got yeah,
- 41:22Speaker 1: and there this is just like an accepted it. Dude.
- 41:25Speaker 1: It's Louisiana, our medical studies. It's not that great. Yeah,
- 41:30Speaker 1: so it's just like oh you know yeah and yeah,
- 41:32Speaker 1: had you listened to him, that's what would have happened. Yeah. Yeah,
- 41:35Speaker 1: So um, I just I guess it was like itching
- 41:40Speaker 1: or whatever. So I just I pulled his day on
- 41:42Speaker 1: two out of my throat and it altered my vocal
- 41:44Speaker 1: cords and or pulling the tube mountain dude. Yeah. So
- 41:50Speaker 1: like I had to get us to like voice therapy
- 41:52Speaker 1: after that, and like being thirteen, like my vocal cords
- 41:57Speaker 1: never really matured. So like, yeah, but I wouldn't get
- 42:00Speaker 1: I mean, sitting here talking to you now, I wouldn't
- 42:01Speaker 1: get that sense mm hmm. Yeah, my vocal cords is
- 42:05Speaker 1: never really matured, So I don't even I guess I
- 42:08Speaker 1: don't even really know what that means, man, because I mean,
- 42:12Speaker 1: like anyone listening right now, anyone listening right now that
- 42:14Speaker 1: they wouldn't be like, wow, it's it's not like it's
- 42:16Speaker 1: not like you know, I'm trying to think, it's not
- 42:20Speaker 1: like talking to a kid. So okay, So so you're
- 42:23Speaker 1: bringing that point up, So like I don't sound like
- 42:28Speaker 1: a kid, but I can still hit a very higher
- 42:32Speaker 1: pitch for for my age or whatever, because when I
- 42:38Speaker 1: have acted, like saying, my vocal cords never fully matured
- 42:41Speaker 1: because I had it to my throat and alter my
- 42:44Speaker 1: vocal cords. So that's why I can go from like
- 42:48Speaker 1: I'm talking now to like a freaking screaming out google.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I mean, just because those vocal cords never really matured
- 42:55Speaker 1: and I could hit notes like a soprano. Give me
- 42:58Speaker 1: an example of behind. No, we're gonna get kicked out here,
- 43:01Speaker 1: but all right, I can take zanta fe off here.
- 43:03Speaker 1: You are you spell? Or you want to I want
- 43:11Speaker 1: to specle Billiana Olk? Oh yeah, so is this like
- 43:36Speaker 1: a thing you realized or just start learning how to
- 43:39Speaker 1: make turkey calls, So I think, uh, what year was
- 43:44Speaker 1: a two thousand? Summer two thirteen, I went to an
- 43:49Speaker 1: outdoor express show in Louisiana and this guy was trying
- 43:52Speaker 1: to sell me a turkey call, and I was like, no,
- 43:54Speaker 1: I don't want to buy a turk call. Obviously I
- 43:57Speaker 1: didn't want to buy a turk call. They've been a
- 43:58Speaker 1: church shot turkyani. So like that was like, no, I
- 44:00Speaker 1: think for me, you yeah, so um you better. So
- 44:08Speaker 1: he was trying to like sell what his call like
- 44:10Speaker 1: it sounded terrible, and uh me be like, I'm not
- 44:14Speaker 1: a lie, like I grew up playing sports his point
- 44:16Speaker 1: guard picture all that time. I was a little cocky
- 44:19Speaker 1: when I was younger. So this guy was like trying
- 44:21Speaker 1: to sell me turtle. He's playing like it's like that
- 44:24Speaker 1: don't sound it good? So what kind of call you use? Me?
- 44:27Speaker 1: Me a kid, a little cocky kid like I can
- 44:30Speaker 1: do in my mouth, had no idea could do it,
- 44:33Speaker 1: no idea. He was like, well, let's hear it. Like crap.
- 44:37Speaker 1: This guy called me out of bluff and I was like,
- 44:40Speaker 1: all right, do it again, and he did it. And
- 44:42Speaker 1: I did the best that I couldn't mimic it. The
- 44:45Speaker 1: owner of the company turned around and said, is that
- 44:47Speaker 1: our call? He's like, no, that's a kid, and they
- 44:52Speaker 1: ran me away from the booth. Really, so I went
- 44:56Speaker 1: to uh inside inside of the expo and uh. Another
- 45:00Speaker 1: guy was like, hey, that's pretty cool. Like I'm I
- 45:03Speaker 1: feel like I just a compiens up. So I'm going
- 45:05Speaker 1: around you practicing tune it out because I mean, I
- 45:07Speaker 1: just got ran away from a Turkey color movie because
- 45:09Speaker 1: it sounded good, and like a guy noticed it. It's
- 45:12Speaker 1: like it sounds pretty good. Like what else can you do?
- 45:14Speaker 1: I don't know. I just learned this ten minutes ago,
- 45:18Speaker 1: so um, you know, people start getting like, oh that's cool,
- 45:22Speaker 1: like can you do this animal or this animal? This
- 45:25Speaker 1: an I don't know. So I started like YouTube and
- 45:29Speaker 1: animal sounds and I just like with practice. But the
- 45:32Speaker 1: way that that break it down is I would get
- 45:36Speaker 1: an animal, figure out what sound it makes, and put
- 45:40Speaker 1: it to the closest word, and I break that word
- 45:43Speaker 1: down until it gets to that sounded. I just what's
- 45:48Speaker 1: your word for a turkey yop? I think it's just yelp,
- 45:53Speaker 1: but it's like a it's not it's not full, it's
- 45:56Speaker 1: not a full YELP. So if I'm if I try
- 45:58Speaker 1: and explain how to do a turkey call to someone, um,
- 46:02Speaker 1: I would say, um uh it's yeo y e l P.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Then you go y e e e l l P.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Help help, help, and then you you extend that word.
- 46:16Speaker 1: But in the cadence off, you want to have your
- 46:19Speaker 1: at the end of you want your pitch to go
- 46:20Speaker 1: just a little bit higher. So you want to you know,
- 46:23Speaker 1: flood of your your your tongue just a little bit
- 46:27Speaker 1: just to get that that full pitch out. And then
- 46:30Speaker 1: once you get that down, you know, you just want
- 46:32Speaker 1: to speed it up just a little bit. So then
- 46:40Speaker 1: a little rasp on there too. So that's a part
- 46:42Speaker 1: of the like the whole pool and two about so
- 46:44Speaker 1: like I can like get to like a raspy pitch
- 46:47Speaker 1: or like it gets like a older like a growl
- 46:50Speaker 1: to it. I mean I can throw like three different
- 46:52Speaker 1: turkey calls at you know, in a sequence. So um
- 46:57Speaker 1: so when so at this point you're starting to learn
- 47:00Speaker 1: out of call, but you're not at turkey hunt, so
- 47:02Speaker 1: you probably marry this with the turkey hunting pretty soon, right,
- 47:05Speaker 1: And I'm just thinking, like this is such a killer
- 47:08Speaker 1: skill for a very specific crowd that you're no longer
- 47:11Speaker 1: associated with. Yeah, so here's the deal. Here's the deal
- 47:16Speaker 1: said like after this show, like people like, Okay, well
- 47:18Speaker 1: what does can you do? It's like I don't know
- 47:20Speaker 1: and not. This is like when Facebook was like becoming
- 47:22Speaker 1: like I was getting to use Facebook a little bit more,
- 47:25Speaker 1: like said, this is two thousand and thirteen. Like I
- 47:28Speaker 1: think I was still like twenty years old something like that.
- 47:31Speaker 1: So I was just learning about Facebook and I think
- 47:34Speaker 1: I was just driving out a road one day, just
- 47:35Speaker 1: being I don't know, just being a a dork, and
- 47:39Speaker 1: I was like, turkeys is coming up, and I did
- 47:41Speaker 1: this video and I posted and like people start sharing
- 47:47Speaker 1: like oh dude, like you sound pretty good, Like you're goofy,
- 47:50Speaker 1: but you sound pretty good. And people start sharing like,
- 47:54Speaker 1: well what else kingdos? I don't know? And uh they're like,
- 47:56Speaker 1: well they had this like animal call challenge they going
- 48:00Speaker 1: on Facebook because I made like some sounds and uh.
- 48:03Speaker 1: This is like going towards the end of two thousand thirteen.
- 48:06Speaker 1: And then it got to the point where um, somewhat
- 48:10Speaker 1: a buddy of mind notice it and he's like, hey,
- 48:11Speaker 1: you need to come to a t A. I don't
- 48:14Speaker 1: even know what a t A is. He's like, it's
- 48:16Speaker 1: like a big archie trade show. I mean everybody goes there, like, Okay,
- 48:19Speaker 1: I'll see what I can do. I had no intention
- 48:21Speaker 1: to one you thought you should go there to do
- 48:23Speaker 1: what though, and just I don't know. I guess to
- 48:25Speaker 1: hang out and call I don't know, like I don't know.
- 48:29Speaker 1: He was like, you just need to go, all right,
- 48:31Speaker 1: cool whatever, I'll go. But but I say that, but
- 48:35Speaker 1: I was shooting competition archery two, So like I guess
- 48:37Speaker 1: that's kind of what he was thinking. Okay, so simultaneous
- 48:42Speaker 1: to the animal thing like your hardcore shooting. Yeah. Yeahs
- 48:45Speaker 1: Like after my accident, that drove me like further into
- 48:48Speaker 1: wanting to do it more like my accident, like it
- 48:52Speaker 1: it put a feel inside of me to want to
- 48:54Speaker 1: do it more. Are you shooting against um? Like, are
- 48:58Speaker 1: you shooting against other people who are wheelchairs and just
- 49:01Speaker 1: shooting general? I'm shooting against everybody. Huh yeah, you got
- 49:06Speaker 1: right back in there, man. Yeah. And so this is
- 49:09Speaker 1: competition archery like shooting targets three three D shoots. Yeah,
- 49:15Speaker 1: so your body's like I don't want to really, but
- 49:17Speaker 1: your body's like, hey, man, go to a t A. Yeah,
- 49:20Speaker 1: And you're like, I don't know why, but I will go. Yeah.
- 49:22Speaker 1: So and then I met another friend of mine, uh curse,
- 49:25Speaker 1: and she was She's like, yeah, I'm going to a
- 49:27Speaker 1: t A. Let's meet up bear, because like, I've met
- 49:29Speaker 1: these people from making an animals sounds on Facebook. I
- 49:32Speaker 1: mean that's how I I met these people. It sounds yeah, man,
- 49:36Speaker 1: looking back at it, it sounds funny, but so um
- 49:41Speaker 1: the Facebook animal sound making. Yeah, I was like Dr
- 49:44Speaker 1: Doolittle online, but I talked to animals in a different way.
- 49:47Speaker 1: So it was like, all right, let's go to a
- 49:49Speaker 1: t A and let's just like I had to meet
- 49:51Speaker 1: up all right, cool? So I go and um, I
- 49:56Speaker 1: mean my buddy robbed and invite me hang out with him.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Everything's fine and kursten Um. She was like, hey, let's
- 50:03Speaker 1: go around the show. It's like all right, cool. So
- 50:06Speaker 1: we're going down this owl and I see Jim Shocking
- 50:09Speaker 1: like he's like one of the only people I knew
- 50:10Speaker 1: at this show. I see Jim Shocking and I freaked
- 50:13Speaker 1: out and have a fangirl moment. Big nine ft tall dude. Yeah, yeah,
- 50:18Speaker 1: I freak out. I have a fan girl moment, so
- 50:21Speaker 1: I think, oh my god, there's Jimp Shocky and she
- 50:22Speaker 1: was like, do you want to meet him? I was like, no,
- 50:24Speaker 1: he's busy to get people around. He's just busy. So
- 50:27Speaker 1: this girl goes through the crowd, like parts of the
- 50:29Speaker 1: crowd like Moses Partner the Red Sea, and she's like, Hey, Josh,
- 50:32Speaker 1: this is Jim Jim, this is Josh. I'm so freaking scared,
- 50:37Speaker 1: like I don't say, hey, I freaking goose honky Jim Shocky.
- 50:43Speaker 1: My nerves stick over so bad that I go was
- 50:46Speaker 1: honk at this guy and he's like, did you just
- 50:49Speaker 1: honk at me? I was like, hey, I guess I
- 50:51Speaker 1: don't know that's what you're saying. Can I guess? I
- 50:54Speaker 1: don't know? I was so nervous. So he's like that
- 50:57Speaker 1: was pretty good, Like what else can you do? Like
- 51:00Speaker 1: he makes some other sounds. So I just started like
- 51:02Speaker 1: doing sounds, and like somebody took out a cell phone
- 51:05Speaker 1: and videoed it, and uh, it got posted on Jim's
- 51:08Speaker 1: page and got posted on Even's page. And then like
- 51:11Speaker 1: some other people are around and like they just saw
- 51:14Speaker 1: me doing these sounds. So like the whole show I
- 51:18Speaker 1: was going around making calls for everybody, and like that's
- 51:21Speaker 1: how I got my start. Like I went from me
- 51:23Speaker 1: nobody from South Louisiana to when I got home, like
- 51:27Speaker 1: my social media exploded, like it got really weird really quick.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Um it just because because I'm from a small town
- 51:36Speaker 1: like I was, I was that kid that was like
- 51:38Speaker 1: so um, I didn't it wasn't sheltered, but I was
- 51:43Speaker 1: in my own little world, especially coming from an accident
- 51:46Speaker 1: and you know, figuring out figuring out life. Still now
- 51:49Speaker 1: I'm in like the public eye, like everybody wants to
- 51:52Speaker 1: know like who you are working to do and stuff
- 51:54Speaker 1: like that. That's scared hell out of me. Like I'm
- 51:56Speaker 1: not even a lot to you. Um. It just was
- 51:59Speaker 1: so different only from you know, being from a small
- 52:02Speaker 1: town and being exposed to the world and you know,
- 52:06Speaker 1: you get all these people from all over the places,
- 52:08Speaker 1: you know, sending you messages and things like that, I
- 52:10Speaker 1: want to be friends. You have no idea who they are,
- 52:12Speaker 1: So I mean it was it was a culture shock
- 52:15Speaker 1: for me, honestly, and it became like it became like
- 52:19Speaker 1: a business for you for a while. Yeah, Like explain
- 52:22Speaker 1: that though, like like what like like what specifically, were
- 52:25Speaker 1: you being did you want to being paid to do?
- 52:29Speaker 1: I honestly cannot, Like if someone wants to do this
- 52:32Speaker 1: as a business plan, I cannot give you a guideline
- 52:35Speaker 1: to do. I will not recommend you go out get
- 52:39Speaker 1: shot Josh Carney path to business. It's not it's not
- 52:43Speaker 1: honking strangers. No. Well, I mean it's a little weird nowadays,
- 52:48Speaker 1: but just that I wouldn't. I would not recommend that. Um.
- 52:51Speaker 1: But you know, so I was, you know, doing these
- 52:54Speaker 1: interviews for like radios and like radio shows and like
- 52:58Speaker 1: just like no, like same stuff on my Yeah, yeah,
- 53:01Speaker 1: but I was doing it like at the shows and stuff.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Like people contact me like hey, like you know you
- 53:05Speaker 1: do you want to come to an event? Like you know,
- 53:07Speaker 1: we heard your story, Like do you want to come
- 53:09Speaker 1: speaking to the event or wherever? It's like my my
- 53:11Speaker 1: first event was at a church in uh across at Arkansas,
- 53:17Speaker 1: the middle of nowhere. As a look, I've never did
- 53:20Speaker 1: public speaking in my life. I don't know why are
- 53:23Speaker 1: you're calling me? You got the wrong guy? Like I
- 53:25Speaker 1: barely know how to make animals. Sounds like I just
- 53:27Speaker 1: learned that an hour ago. But what were they wanting you?
- 53:29Speaker 1: To come do. They wanted me to tell my story
- 53:32Speaker 1: of how I overcame UM, how I got from a
- 53:36Speaker 1: hunting accident to getting over it and getting back into
- 53:40Speaker 1: um hunting. So that's what I did. I stumbled my
- 53:45Speaker 1: way through that first show. But the good thing about
- 53:50Speaker 1: it that was funny m hm. So I did comedy
- 53:56Speaker 1: before I got to the hunting industry, so I was
- 54:01Speaker 1: able to throwing a serious point covered with a joke,
- 54:06Speaker 1: so like, I always kept the audience attention. So that
- 54:09Speaker 1: right there is like what kind of built me into
- 54:13Speaker 1: getting and speaking? So this show here is my first
- 54:17Speaker 1: and like after that it went well so that well,
- 54:20Speaker 1: maybe I can do another one from there. I just
- 54:24Speaker 1: change a little change style. You know, did things, you
- 54:28Speaker 1: tweaked the little things here and there, and I got
- 54:30Speaker 1: better at it. And from there more people like, Hey,
- 54:33Speaker 1: do you want to come speak at the event? Do
- 54:35Speaker 1: you want to come to a seminar? Do you want
- 54:37Speaker 1: to come UM host a disabled hot like do you
- 54:41Speaker 1: want to do more stuff? I'm like, yeah, who's managing
- 54:45Speaker 1: all this for you? I was doing it at the time.
- 54:48Speaker 1: I mean I was, I was a young dumb and
- 54:50Speaker 1: I didn't I I was, but you're doing paid gigs, right,
- 54:54Speaker 1: I'm doing paid gigs. But you're you're just like, here's
- 54:57Speaker 1: my fee, and negotiated and contract on a like. At
- 55:00Speaker 1: that time, starting out, I had a a really cheap
- 55:04Speaker 1: fee because I didn't know what I was doing. I
- 55:07Speaker 1: had enough to like, hey, yeah, cover my gas, my expenses,
- 55:10Speaker 1: feed me and give me a hotel. I'll be there.
- 55:13Speaker 1: I had no idea when it came to business. So
- 55:16Speaker 1: I was like, all right, well, I'm doing enough of
- 55:17Speaker 1: these shows for cheap. Let me start charging, all right.
- 55:21Speaker 1: So I was like, all right, cover my expenses five
- 55:24Speaker 1: from the bucks, I'll do it. That became all right,
- 55:27Speaker 1: well it's you know, it's it's getting better. Now I
- 55:29Speaker 1: got a little money, I can go go back home,
- 55:32Speaker 1: have you know, a little bit to play with. You know,
- 55:34Speaker 1: it's like cool. I like that. From there, I started developing, Okay,
- 55:38Speaker 1: well I'm getting more work than um. Then the the money,
- 55:43Speaker 1: you know, I wasn't I was doing, dude, But I
- 55:47Speaker 1: was overworking myself because I was on the road a lot.
- 55:51Speaker 1: I mean I think two thousand fifteen, I hit like
- 55:57Speaker 1: two sixty days on the road. No. Yeah, but all
- 56:01Speaker 1: with hunting industry stuff. How much did it when you're
- 56:05Speaker 1: doing this to your talk about all the time. And
- 56:07Speaker 1: I'm guilty right now because I'm interviewing you right now,
- 56:09Speaker 1: But how much should it become like did never be
- 56:15Speaker 1: did you ever get in your head where you sort
- 56:17Speaker 1: of had a hard time that you would separate you
- 56:21Speaker 1: like as a fully formed person with like that you
- 56:26Speaker 1: are like this embodiment of a story, mean that like
- 56:30Speaker 1: you have like a narrative. You were injured horribly, um,
- 56:33Speaker 1: you started hunting and you have this this gift to
- 56:36Speaker 1: to do animal calls, um, and people just wanted to
- 56:40Speaker 1: be like again and again and again and again, tell
- 56:43Speaker 1: me about that, Tell me about that, Tell me about that.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Does that cause like an identity crisis? Yeah? Yeah, it
- 56:49Speaker 1: actually does so honestly, So like going it's it was
- 56:53Speaker 1: super weird for me getting a guest to so like
- 56:55Speaker 1: I had to live two different lives. Like when I
- 57:01Speaker 1: was at events or shows or whatever, I had to
- 57:04Speaker 1: be the son of the South, like that's what I
- 57:07Speaker 1: went by, a son of the South. So I had
- 57:09Speaker 1: a strictly show presence that I had to stick to.
- 57:13Speaker 1: But outside of it, when I was like family friends,
- 57:18Speaker 1: like I was Josh Carney, like I was just let's
- 57:21Speaker 1: hang out, cut out myself. But when I went to
- 57:24Speaker 1: a show, I was in that strictly like that entertainment mode.
- 57:29Speaker 1: Is it Is it a requirement that you as not
- 57:33Speaker 1: Josh Carney, but you as the son of the South.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Is it a requirement of the son of the South
- 57:39Speaker 1: that the son of the South is in a good mood?
- 57:44Speaker 1: I'm always in a good way, that's the thing. Though
- 57:46Speaker 1: you're able to do it. Yeah, I'm always in a
- 57:48Speaker 1: good like. I mean, life has challenged me enough that
- 57:52Speaker 1: I understand, like, bad things happened for a moment, and
- 57:57Speaker 1: you can't let it ruin a day. So I made
- 57:59Speaker 1: if something like bad happens, once it's over it, it's
- 58:03Speaker 1: over with, you know, just keep moving forward. I mean,
- 58:05Speaker 1: don't let sixty seconds of your day ruined the other
- 58:11Speaker 1: twenty three hours and minutes. Dude, I'll lose two weeks
- 58:16Speaker 1: off sixty seconds. No, I haven't been forged by fire, right, Yeah,
- 58:23Speaker 1: I mean you just you just it. There's a lot
- 58:27Speaker 1: of people like it takes a bigger person to do,
- 58:29Speaker 1: and I think that's that's where I'm at. I mean, like,
- 58:31Speaker 1: I just don't let a lot of things bother me.
- 58:33Speaker 1: I mean, something can always be worse, and I think
- 58:38Speaker 1: being able to like like over the years, I've done
- 58:40Speaker 1: things with events with like kids with like cancer, like
- 58:43Speaker 1: terminal illnesses and things like that, I think that humbled
- 58:46Speaker 1: me as a person, Like they truly humbled me. Like
- 58:49Speaker 1: I understand, like I'm in a situation, but there are
- 58:51Speaker 1: people out there in worse situations i am, and they're
- 58:54Speaker 1: happy about it, like they're grateful for what they have.
- 58:57Speaker 1: So if I was bitter because I can't use my legs, like,
- 58:59Speaker 1: that's efficient me. So I mean, knowing that it could
- 59:04Speaker 1: be worse, it's something that makes me more positive. So
- 59:09Speaker 1: if I have a bad moment, I don't let it
- 59:11Speaker 1: affect the rest of my day. Well, we before we
- 59:16Speaker 1: started recording, we talked a little bit about, you know,
- 59:22Speaker 1: your sort of view of operating within the hunting industry
- 59:26Speaker 1: and you grew tired of it. Like what's sort of
- 59:29Speaker 1: like defined the hunting industry for me? You know, I
- 59:31Speaker 1: mean and and and tell me like what it means
- 59:34Speaker 1: to grow tired of it or want to move beyond
- 59:35Speaker 1: it because you went to do you do like a
- 59:37Speaker 1: totally different line of work. Now, yeah, I'm a totally
- 59:39Speaker 1: different lot of work, so for me. So the thing
- 59:42Speaker 1: about the industry for me was like six years in it,
- 59:46Speaker 1: like I was m I don't want to say I was.
- 59:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna be blunt. I was overworked, underpaid. Like when
- 59:56Speaker 1: I went to a show, I was always someone's puppet,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: like do this, do that, do this, do that, and
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: like I never got a reward out of it, you know.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, we're just gonna use you for
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: like your social media or like whatever you bring to
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: the table, and he and day. If we don't want you,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: we just don't want you. You know, do X y
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Z for us and we don't get you don't get
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: anything out of in of it, you know. And doing
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: that for so long it made me really bitter towards
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: the hunting industry because it was always give me, give me,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: give me, and I never got anything return. I mean
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: I met some good people along the way, but if
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: it wasn't for speaking events that I was doing, I
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: would have never made an industry. I mean it it
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: broke me down financially, mentally, like physically, like I was
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: on the road so much trying to pursue this image
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: that I had built in the hunting industry just to
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: stay afloat, and like I was. I was, I was
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: expected to do so much from the audience and from
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: you know, companies that wanted me to promote them for nothing.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: So that's where the whole persona But do you think
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: it's like but don't you think it's because of just
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: lack of management? You know that too. But so two
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: thousand seven, I think that that could probably that could
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: happen to many many people. Yeah, So two thousand seventeen,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: I had I hired a business one. So let me
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: let me backtrack. So when I talked, I was talking
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: to you guys earlier. So I had a guy that
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: was trying to be my manager. He was a credential
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Let me let me just say like he was a
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: used carse that was when if that says anything, okay,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: So he was a sneaking of grass. So he wanted
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: to be my manager, like very shady chica dude. Um.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: But at the time I didn't know, I didn't know
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: what manage it was. I was having fun. I was
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: making a little bit of one here, and it got
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: to the point where um, the things like I was
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: more of a um token item for him to put
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: money in his pocket. So learning that started burning a
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: lot of bridge for me. So finally got rid of
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: him and I went back to doing things well. So
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: I met this girl, um, this lady Heather Shepherd, and
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: she's my business partner. So we met. She booked me
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: for an event. It was her her family event, and
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: she booked me forward. I mean, from booking it to
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: be getting there to the show's over, everything was like
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: to the t um like she's like, hey, Josh, you
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: know you have to be at this place at this time.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: You have to be here, here, your brakes here. You know.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Everything was like to a t um I think at
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: the end of the show, like her name went from
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Heather to boss lady, Like I mean, she was just strictly,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: you know, focus on making sure that everything was in
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: line and right. So after that show, UM, I approached like, hey, listen,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: like I really don't know what the hell I know
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: it and from seeing you work and how you um
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: handle business, I want you as a part of my team.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: So she came on board with me, uh and thinking
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: too that the seventeen and um we've worked together flawlessly
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: from the air. So she took over that management position
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: for me. So if someone wanted me to do a
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: gig or event, I pulled myself out of it. I'd
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: introduced to her, she take care of it. That became
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: a lot better for me. But at that time when
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: that's happening, I was already at the point where I
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: was starting to get worn out and so like if
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: it didn't fit, like you know, quieterias like Okay, I'm
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: not gonna drive from Louisiana oil mean just to go
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: on a free trip for exposure, you know, So just
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: things like that. But as far as getting the sponsorship deals,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: I didn't understand that of a business. And she was
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: so new to the industry at that time too that
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: we were both learning. So I don't think it at
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: the time. I think the way that we went about
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: it could have been done a lot better. But I
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: think it was a little too late for they also,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: So at what point did you decide that, let me
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: put it this way, when you got burned out on
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: sort of servicing the hunting industry in that community, Um,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: was your interested your interest in hunting go away? As well?
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Are you actively hunting right now? Are you just done
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: with it? So two thousand eighteen was like my breaking
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: point for the hunting industry. I had I want to say,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: probably eight detent SI bolsters and like we had like
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: we were working like so with me. It had that
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: we were working on contract agreements making sure everything was
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: like right for the following you, to make sure everything went.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: This is sponsorships. That where they're giving you gear. Now,
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: this is monetary sponsors and we're starting to make money now.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: So Um, we have agreements lined up. And back to
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: the back to the other guy that was trying to
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: be my manager. I did a hunt with him, Um
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: and Texas, him and another guy. They made a video
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: of me. Um. Obviously, I can't put my my leg
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: on a turkey to stop it from flopping, so they
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: put my wheel on a turkey, and I mean, I'm
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: not gonna sit here a lot to you. I mean
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: that was quote unquote my legs. So walk me through
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: like you shoot a turkey, shoot a turkey, and this
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: is all being filmed. Yeah, so I shoot a turkey. Um,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: turkeys on the ground and like we're doing like the
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: b roll and stuff like that, and they wanted to
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: make a video of me. Um. The whole storyline for
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: this episode was me conquering, getting over Turkey, onting accident,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: getting back to Turkey hunting. That was the whole storyline,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: which is a story you're familiar with. Yeah, I was
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: gonna say, yeah, yeah, so affect killer story after shoots Turkey,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: like they're doing a film and everything like that, birds
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: on the ground, They're like, okay, well, you know, just
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: like now you're in a wheelchair, Like this is the mindset.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: You're in a wheelchair because of Turkey. Hulley like, now
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: we want to make it look like you conquered you
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: know this, like you just slay the dragon. So like
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: all right, you know, just like just put your wheel
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: on the turkey's head like you just like defeated it. Yeah,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: this is like my first big like TV show. Deal man,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I just seeing where this is going, you get it's
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: so easy to get steam rolled, Yeah, because you're with
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: all these people and they know what yeah, and you're
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: not familiar with yet. You don't know, you don't understand that,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: you don't understand the end product, had no idea, but
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: the end product is like that's that's what I'm getting to.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: So it was like it wasn't even like a like uh,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: terrible shot like it was just my wheel on a turkey.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: I mean I see people put their foots on the neck.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: I just had a wheel on it. That wasn't even
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: the turkey. Like the worst thing I did that shot
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: him in the face, the worst they could have done
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: a turkey. So yeah, like preceded earlier shot with the gun. Yeah,
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: I just wanted to stop flopping. I mean, like obviously
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: the turkey gets back up, I can't run behind it.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: So I mean if I put my wheel in her head,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: he can't go anywhere, all right. So the guy and
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: his part of whoever he was working with, they put
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: a video together like I had, um it was it
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: wasn't even it was the firm producer and editor. Video
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: sucks so bad, Like a six year old could have
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: did better. Like they had video like the b rolls
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: like me looking at the turkey, like fanning it out
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: and like just showing like me showing the coloration of
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: the feathers and everything, and then like it goes to
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: a scene where like my wheel is on a turkey
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: head and like that was the finished product. So this
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: this guy, it's it's like a terrible video. So the
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: guy like you, hum, it's meant to be that it's
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: all one continuous action. You you admire turkey and then
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: lay it back down and run it over. I guess
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: that's what they're trying to proceed. But it was such
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: a terrible video. Oh but it was enough to make
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: sponsors have an easy way out. So this guy, so
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: I was doing um seminar that shows and speaking events
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: things like that, and I had I was started getting
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: monetary sponsors. The sky whoever I was working with affiliated
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: with this guy said that the video too, and like
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I lost a lot of money over the stupid stuff.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I mean like a lot of money because of a
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: video of me shooting a turkey. And then like at
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: this time, this is like when um, I don't know
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: if you guys remember like the the big Beal thing
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: when he shot that elk or whatever and left it.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: It's just like in Walming then yeah, oh well yeah
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: shot shot accidentally hit a second old Yeah. Yeah, So
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: this is like around that same time period, which is
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: totally like that part of it shooting elk and and
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: accidentally getting another one. That could happen lots of people,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: but whether or not you to it. Yeah, So the
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: companies that saw this video, like, oh well, there's too
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: much pressure on the hunting and issue right now. We
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: don't need this being a part of our business floating
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: around because you put your wheel on a turkey the head.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: So it's an easy way out. So I started losing
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: contracts like but like, okay, I haven't seen this video.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: Is Let's say I went into one of these sponsors
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: that you lost to deal with and I said to them, like, hey,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: what happened with I understand what happened with Josh Karney?
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Like what went on there? Like do your best job
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: of telling what? They would say honestly, don't know, but
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: you don't know that they like you can't picture like that.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: They would have a different story than what you're telling me.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: It's like he put his wheel, said all that it was.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: I put my wheel on a turkey's head. It's it.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: They're like, okay, well, honestly, it was an easy way out.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: But easy way out implies that they wanted out. They
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: it's like, okay, well we don't have the budget this year.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: I mean it's like, okay, well now we have Oh whoa,
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: you're doing this. That's not what we want to represent
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: as a company. And then the video was perceived as
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: such that it was um or being it was being
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: pushed as something disrespectful against animals. But okay, I don't
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: I don't want to like belabor this video issue, but
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: it sucks so bad. Was the video? Was the video though?
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Was the video in the end? Was the video meant
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: to do what it was supposed to do? Or did
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: the video they put the video out there to be damaging.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: They put it out to be damaging, so they weren't
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: like trying to make something great like so this was
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: this was filmed for a TV show. They took enough
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: of the footage from that to splice it down to
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: make this video to send to the companies. So it
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: was like it was intentional. Yeah, they had a it
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: was a vendetta for something, maybe you don't even know
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: what that the owner of the show and the producer
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: got to it. And the producer was the guy that
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: was trying to be my manager. So the owner of
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: the show, once they got to it, the guy was
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: trying to take down everything that the producer had. And
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: I was in that mix of it. And at that
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: time I was being very successful and I was on
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: a lot. I had a lot of tension on me.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: So it was a very easy and it was very easy.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: I was a very easy target. I mean even hectic
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: that the guy still tries to use the video to
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: send to people. I'm like, dude, that was five years ago. Yeah,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: five years ago. So it's just yeah, I've met some
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: very I've met some great people, honey and showing me wrong.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: But for every good person, I've met a lot of
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: shady people too. I mean, do you think it's is
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: it hunting or is it like business? I think it's both,
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: to be honest with you, because it's from the business
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: side of it, Like, no one's gonna show you. A
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: lot of these people are gonna show you their true colors,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: like they're gonna want you to do for me personally.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Like I was, like, I'm gonna go back to what
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: I said earlier. I was a puppet, Like I brought
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: the attention to a company for them to make a
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: buck out of it, and I didn't make a dime you,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: So I was just and I was just a token
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: item for them to gain something. What was the last
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: time you did uhum, what was the last time you
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: did a talk? But gave a talk? My last yeah,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: my last speaking event had to be last year. Um,
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: Like I said, I took a I took a huge
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: break from the whole hunting industry at the two eighteen.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Oh I said, I lost a lot in that industry.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: And uh heck, I mean I went to the show.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: I came back. Oh man, I had a heart attack.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: I mean it's it's stressed me out so bad that
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: literally a heart attack. I flew back home. I went
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: to the uh gym later to night as I was
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: stressed out. I mean, this is like this is like
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: my shot, Like I just started finally started to make
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: money and like I lost. I mean I lost a
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: lot of money at a show because of that video.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: It was time for the show. Oh yeah yeah. And
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: then the bad part, like everything that was happened, so
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: like going back to like the bad moments, Like I
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: was letting those bad moments pole up. So I had
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: just got turned down, um on a a good contract.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: And after they turned me down, the guy that producing
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: and send it out walks up and I was livid,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: like emotion like I was. I was in a different
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: state of mind at that point that it was it
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: was a miserable show for me, Like it was eating
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: me up inside, like a horrible show for me. Then
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: another thing I was losing. I was losing um spots
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: of like being Uh, this is a time phrase where
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: the hunting industry was so fo focus on, you know,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: being a cute blanche chick, you know, half naked doing
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: shows just to get you know, promotion, and I felt,
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: really I felt that it got away from the value
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: of hunting that I was just I don't know, I
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: guess I was just a little bitter about it because
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: I mean I was losing. I felt like I was
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: losing out to um people that wanted to be something
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: that they worked and like I just I got caught
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: up in that realm of trying to be someone else
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: that I lost focus on who I was. Like, I
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: just like I didn't understand the fact that you know
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: that I was getting caught up in that mix. So yeah,
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: I know, yeah, there's like you know, I mean sex
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: cells and everything. I mean definitely sells underwear, yeah, and
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: all kinds of stuff. And yeah, like you know, as
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: much as it's even fair to talk about like the
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: hunting industry as well as this sort of like defineable,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: containable thing, I know what you're talking about when they
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: became this it's it's not like this male fantasy thing
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: where it be that, um, you know, you have these
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: people that are like, oh that you know, they're so
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: beautiful and and they like to hunt. And it's like
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: this like complete total package, right that that you like
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: present as a as a marketing thing. It's like all
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: my problems, I'm lonely and I have no woman, and
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: now look this one's beautiful and she would appreciate my
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: hunting prowess. Not only that, but she loves the hunt,
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: and that's how I will sell products. Yeah, old creepy gather.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: So so from from so back to that se I
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: like when that was going, like I was like, all right,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: well a lot of these people can't Like it was
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: so um it was so instant bottled. The honey industry
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: became so instant mottled that I was like, all right, cool,
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: this is not even honey anymore. It's Hollywood. Like it's
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: not like something that I was like I was. I
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: was one of those guys that I was a rebel.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: Like it was like, look, I bust my butt to
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: go out here and do it, and I have I
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: know what I'm bringing to the table. I don't feel
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: that it's right for me to lose something to somebody
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: that just picked up a gun two weeks ago. Guild Animal,
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: you felt like you had a product, yeah, and but
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: you were losing um some of these opportunities, some of
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: these paid opportunities, folks that didn't even have a product.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: I felt that I brought more value to the table
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: than what I was, um, what I was getting out
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: of it. And to lose a spot to someone that
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: had no knowledge, couldn't teach you about anything hunting related,
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: to lose it to a cute face, I just I
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: was in a very ill mood, so I made it.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: I made a post and it wasn't even um like.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: It wasn't bad. It was more information or anything saying
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: how the hot industry was just becoming um more of
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: that sex cell type. And it flared up a lot
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: of attention because I'm one of those guys like I
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: will say, like I will say what the rooms? That
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: will you say like everybody's taking it? Hell, I'm just
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: gonna say it. I'm a clear elf. Now That's what
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: it was. It was one of those deals. Well, it's
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: a it's a super sensitive subject though man, because there
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: was a lot of that's a supersensitive subject. It's a
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: supersensive subject because the hunting industry traditionally was not hostile
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: in cases hostile the women. Um I had sitate to
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: say hostile women, not as inviting the women, meaning right
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: like people to buy a hunting license are guys timber
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: center women? Um, I don't think. I imagine that you
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: would always have I don't picture a world in which
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: you would be equal representation between men and women. I
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: don't picture that. But I feel if Dad's and whatever
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: dad's granddads didn't have such a strong bias towards the
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: boys in their family, in favor of the boys of
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: their family and against participation from women, we would land
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: not at maybe be seventy thirty female. There's no way
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: it's gonna be. I think there's like I think there's
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: biological factors that would prevent, but it wouldn't be. So
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: there is a thing where, Okay, to increase female representation
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: and hunting is important, to hear women's voices about hunting
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: and hunting is important. But I think that there's also
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: like a thing that I recognize it too, which is
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: very much. Um. People take that need but then they
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: can't help themselves. But to like sexify it. Oh yeah,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: no doubt. And I want my dog I got. I
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: have a seven year old daughter. I have like I
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: don't overpressure her, but she is very clear on the
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: fact that her dad very much wants her to go
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: hunting and fishing, to the point where I want her
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: to feel a little guilty when she doesn't go. Do
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: I then need to have it turn like do I
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: want her to to hunt in a bikini top? No?
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: I feel like she could look roughly like her brothers,
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: like the same basic get up that her brothers are
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: comfortable and should be suitable for my daughter. So this
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: thing that we're talking about, like, I recognize, it's very
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: complex to be like everything. Man, it is complex to
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: the point to where is if your daughter was like, yeah,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: but dad, what I want to do is hunt in
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: a bikini top, and then you would have to be
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: then and be like I really want you to go, dude.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: That's a great point, man, because that would be what if?
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: What if? Yeah? What she said to me, this is
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: how I like to do it. I like, I wanna, um,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: I love it. It's like this, make it fun like this,
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: What am I gonna say, like, no, you cannot go
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: in that bikini top? She's seven right now? Is I'm
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: not there yet? I got time to figure it out.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: But yes, it's hard to deal with. Yeah, And so
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: then you throw and you go. You look at the demographics,
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: right and you throw somebody, anybody up on a poster,
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: and the marketing persons like, I want that poster to
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: represent the middle of the Bell curve, the vast majority,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: to draw the most people in, you know. And and
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: so you get in this conversation where it's like there,
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: here's this very very pretty girl man whatever, um you know,
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: is that representing the majority of the Bell curve? Is
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: that bringing in the most people. It's gonna represent some
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: some faction, but it's not going to represent them all. Yeah,
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: they're they're advertising a water park in the elevators in
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: the place we're standing in right now, and advertising for
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: the water park are families, and the moms in the
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: things are in bikinis. But it's like, not sexualized. It's
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: a water park and there's families. I think it's not
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: sexual I think a bikini is more appropriate for a
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: water park than stay. Yeah, I just want to say, like,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: I don't want to overemphasize the bikini aspect this because
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: there are places where people you know it should be
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: uh you know, every runs around, but man, a little
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: bit the final COMPLEXI this is all to say about it,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: because not all want to say about it. But the
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: other thing I found is that women don't necessarily want,
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: don't necessarily need forty six year old dudes like me
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: explaining this to them. So I get it. I get it,
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: but I understand what I understand. So where where'd you
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: go from there? I take a really uh like a
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: detoxic break. I mean I I still had a couple
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: events and a couple of companies that I was working with,
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: and um, I I just kind of I fell off
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: the radar a little bit to figure out who the
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: hell I was because I was, like I said, I
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: I focused so much on big this persona to fit
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: this hunting image that I didn't know who I was
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: an he wore. And I want to ask about your
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: friends group too, because before you were like, well, one
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: way with my friends group and one way with your
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: friends group. Are they? Um, do you have a bunch
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: of folks like in your core friends group that are like,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: let's go hunting, let's go hunting, or are they not
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: in the hunting world? So I not industry, but like
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: like to be outdoors, like like hunting. I have friends
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: that are in the industry that I will go hunting
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: with um. But when I wasn't of value to them,
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: I lost a lot of friends. I mean, if I
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: didn't bring it to the table, whoa you know. And
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: the funny thing is, like I think like to like
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: the pretty trade shows, like we're all buddy buddy shaking hands.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: Oh my god, I miss is great to see all
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: this stuff for the rest of the three hundred sixty days,
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: three and six whatever days, I don't even worry from them.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: I don't know who you are. You go to a
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: different show, they're like, oh, well who are you? I
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: mean like that's the kind of that's the kind of
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: people like we're running with it, this industry. Like if
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: it doesn't benefit them at the time, then you know,
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: you're just another sticking away. But man, I think that
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: you're no, no, no, no no, I'm not I'm saying that.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: You're like like, I'm not saying it for anybody. I
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: just have a bad I have a bad um sense
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: of picking people. But I think you're talking about people.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: I don't think you're talking about the hunting industry. But
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know, Like if we're in cosmetics industry,
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: I feel like maybe would have found the same thing.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's in every industry. I'm not trying
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: to like stand around and like stick up for you know,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: like I play in the hunting industry considerably. I'm not
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: sitting around trying to be their advocate in mouthpiece or something.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: But I'm just saying, I feel like it's just you
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: found out some ship about life to say this is
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: just specific to this. No, no, no, no, I I
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: agree it's it's it's in life in general. But I
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: was so stuck in that round, like that's what I
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: was surrounded wish I understanding understanding from them. But now, um,
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: you're you're you do want to come and like you're
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: ready to talk again, but you want to talk to
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: new people. Yeah, I mean not like I don't mind
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: talking about I'll talk to anybody. I'll talk to the wall.
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna bother me. I'll get you certain trouble in
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: some quarters. I mean, like speaking is like what your
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: eyes are, Like, I just want to get I want
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: to get out of that scene, like because like I
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: was so saturated and a in the whole hunting in
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: issue round like I didn't know anything else. So like
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: now I'm just like, okay, well it's not for me
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: to you know, venture out and do more stuff. What
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: what industry working in right now? Like you just went
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: like during your detox, you just went working in a
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: completely unrelated world. Yeah no, I'd like from my detox,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: like I went from so like I went like this
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: is how like crazy was. I went from um, you know,
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: driven in a hunting instrue guy, Like I finished, like
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: I think last spring, I did like a Turkey Turkey tour.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: I do a Turkey too every year. So I did
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: that and like after I finished that, like I got
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: back home, was like all right, cool, Um, I love
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: hunting up happy hunting, but I don't want to stick
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: in this round anymore. Like it's just like it's not
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: what makes me happy, like it it took a lot
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: of the passion away from me. So I left there
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: and I worked at a freaking car dealership like completely
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: opposite of anything. But I wanted to get into the
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: field of the real world and get out of you know,
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: this saturation that I've been in for so long. So
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: I did that from there. Uh it was That was
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: the worst shop I've ever had. Like that was way
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: worse than anything every did. Would hunt the entry. It's terrible.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: So if anybody every wants to buy a car, you
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: do not call me. So you're trying to sell cars? No, no,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: no, no no. I wasn't it salesman. I was UM it's
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: a b DC is what it's called. So like I
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: would be the person to um get people in to
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: um buy cars. It was more like a UM, let
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: me come you like this, let me introduce you to
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: our top sales gas. Yeah something like that. Yeah yeah yeah.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: I even grew the hair out, like I had the
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: whole car salesman. Look, car salesman has longer hair. Well,
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: I mean, you know, the slick back like the ninet
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: eight car salesman with like the old suit, like the
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: slick back hair like too much gas. Yeah, that was me.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: I grew my hair out everything like it was terrible.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: It was I was going through some rough times back then.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: He can cast where so it was your dad, right
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: because he's this hounds man. Those are very dedicated people.
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: Um was he supportive of you as he like proud
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: of you, uh you know, quote unquote making an name
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: for yourself in hunting or was he kind of like
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: I don't really know about that side of hunting now,
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: I think my families would was supportive about it. I
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: mean honestly I was. I was, and I'm still one
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: of those guys. If I want to do something, just
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: had to do it, you know, like they didn't have
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: a a particular say so on me. Just packed my
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: bags that were going, honey go and try across world.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: I mean like I would literally leave my house one
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: day and I'd come back two months later. I mean,
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: it's just that's the decision that I wanted to make
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: in life, you know, And that's what I was so
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: focused on being successful and accomplishing things that I sacrificed
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: a lot. I mean I sacrificed a lot of time.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: I sacrifice, Like I remember, I I think I went
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: three or four years without being at home for crystalers
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: and thanks even like I just I never saw my
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: family because I was always on the road trying to
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: be in that next level of success. So I mean,
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: I I they were supportive in that fact that you know,
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: I was driven up to do that. But you're thinking
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: now about now that you kind of dusted off, you're
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: thinking now about going back out in the world to
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: talk to people again. Yeah, I mean that's that's what
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: that's my passion. Like I think, you know, everybody has
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: a gift, and my gift is to UM I'm a
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: I'm a people pleaser, like bad situations to get situations,
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: Like I can figure out ways to um make a
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: situation be viewed from a different aspect, and like, I
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: think that's what really drives That's what I'm really passionate about. UM.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: So what's the Like, what if you're going to talk
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: to people and you have an audience in front of you, UM,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: what's the takeaway? Like the takeaway of your talk isn't
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: that you're a people pleaser? No? No, no, no. So
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: I think it's more about um overcoming life. You know,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: everybody's faces with challenge and obstacles with the life. You know,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: it's either it's either you fight through it or you
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: give up. And you know, I was at that point
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: where I wanted to give up many times, and I
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: never did it because I knew that if I kept
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: pushing through, I kept fighting, like it would eventually get better.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: It's not gonna be easy, but it's gonna get better.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: And once it gets better, you know better, it gets
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: too phenomenal. And I want to be at a phenomenal
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: level in my life, you know. And there's like a
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: lot of people that struggle with things on a daily basis.
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: Everybody struggles with something on a daily basis. So if
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: I can get someone to figure a way too understand
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: that what they're going through is not something that they
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: have to go through or have to stay in that
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: situation like that is what like I want to present.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: I mean, because like that, we are only here to
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: deal with bad issues for a moment our lives. It's
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: not gonna take over our lives, you know. So being
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: able to present a different side and a different outlook
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: on life to someone is what I want to present
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: to people. Um, I've had people that have been in
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: way worse situations I have, and they have failed to
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: understand that life stunt over. You know, you can still
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: move on no matter how dark your days are. I mean,
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: like after every storm and sunshine, I mean there's something
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: better for you in life. You just have to understand it.
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: It's out there. You have to keep wanting it, you know.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: I think I think about when you bring that up,
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: is just haven't been uh always just like you know,
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: just like blessed and lucky right now you but me,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: I just you know, like I don't know, just lucky.
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: And sometimes I'll wake up in the morning and my
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: kids will come down, all three of our kids will
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: be coming back with me, my wife, you know, And
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: instead of thinking like you're saying, like I want to
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: get I want things to get better and better and
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: then phenomenal, I think like, how could this perfection continue?
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: Like there's no way, like something bad has to happen,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: Like like how could how could one get so lucky?
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: And I think they have probably there if there's a
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: blessing to having just like such a major setback like
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: you had, it would probably too to get some reality there,
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: you know, Like what I remember one time being down
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: in Florida and we're like on the beach, me and
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: my wife on the beach from Pham vacation. We only
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: had two kids at the time. The kids are playing,
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: they're like helping you already somersaults and like things are
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: so perfect, it makes me feel like something bad is coming.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: What happened? No, there you go. Well, you know what,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: what we didn't know at that time was we had
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: firmly agreed that two kids was more than enough, and
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: we didn't know that. It's funny that story particular is
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: we didn't know that at that moment she was pregnant
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: with our third, which was like kicked the nuts. But
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: in the end, yeah, in the end, it's like, you know,
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: like everybody like everybody says, like such a blessing, right,
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: and it is, it's amazing. But at the time, so
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: when she's that's what we laughed about. Later it was
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: like something bad another kid. This kind of back cuddling.
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: That what Cal asked about your dad, Uh, how how
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: your dad felt about you kind of getting so deep
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: in the industry. But I kind of wanted to know,
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: you said, you say that you don't really remember what
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: kind of guilt your dad was carrying, like shortly after
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: the accident. Ten years pass after the accident, then you
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: start to kind of make a living and gain nationwide,
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: worldwide attention from not only your calls but also retelling
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: the story, a big shot by your dad, And I
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: mean you think that after ten years there's probably a
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: lot of healing, healing happening like between just like with
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: the guilt he was carrying maybe that and then all
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: of a sudden, it just like it was it like
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: a wound opening back up for him that you were
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: touring the country telling this story. Do you think there
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: was any like obviously he was probably proud of you
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: for for getting up there and becoming a speaker. And
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: but after I already do you think there was any
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: resentment at all? You know, it's kind of what it
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: deals was like, Hey day, you remember that time you
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: shot me? Yeah, here's a video and you're gonna watch
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: this here now it sounds very sad piano music. Yeah,
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: like very depressing. And they're like, okay, yeah, give me
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: a credit card, like I want to buy a truck.
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: Like it's that I don't guilty of Anybody has a
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: big you know your dad Okay, Oh yeah, my dad's fine. Uh.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: We don't turkey out together anymore, communicate with him, but
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: you know I'm talking out together. I mean it's a
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: different subs every different day. But now, I mean for
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: as far as you know, opening that well, I don't
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: think I think it's healed. I honestly think it's too.
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: But being able to show that it it didn't hinder
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: me in life, I think that that's something that has
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: helped him heal. I think it's helped you know, me
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: and my whole family heal from a situation. Because I mean,
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: I don't I don't look at my accident as it was,
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: um something devastating, like I'm grateful for it. You know,
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: it wouldn't it would not have made Yeah, it would
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: have I it would not have made me the person
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: that I am right now if it didn't happen. I
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: mean there's no telling what I would have been doing
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: or you know what kind of guy I would have
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: been if my actually never happened, Like it humbled me
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: so much, um because like I said, you know, we
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: take things for granted all the time, Like I could
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: have been a selfish prick if I'd never got a
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: leg saying away from me like now, like I cherished
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: the little things, like I'm grateful for so much more now.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: So like I just don't. I don't think my accident
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: was one of those deals where you know, I should
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: get bitter over to me, and I think it's one
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: of those things that really humbled me alife. You could
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: have been the type of dude who whendn't throwing a
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: road killed deer in the back of the track of
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: the ranch. You know that's never gonna happen again. So
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: if if, if people want as much as you're wanting
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: to do this, if people want to contact you UM
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: to talk about haven't you come and talk to a
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: group or how do they do it? How do they
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: get a hold of you? I think the easiest way
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: to get ahold of me is uh. I have a
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: Facebook page is called Son of the South s O
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: n of the South, and I think that's probably he's
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: the way to message me. Um, I stay on, I
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: used to say on social media a lot, but I've
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: laid back on that pretty much. But if you wanted
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: to get and send your message, it can still find you.
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, I'm not hard to five. Just look
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: for a black gund of wheelchair making animal sounds not
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: hard to find at all. The group narrows down quick,
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: all right, man, this has been great. Uh, Josh Carney
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: Son of the South. Sometimes they get called mouth for
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: the South. Don't know why. They're probably gonna talk a
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: lot like, yeah, we'll stick with Son of Himself, you know. Yeah,
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: thanks so much for coming on man. And yeah, now
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: that you told everybody how to find you, do you
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: want to learn more about Josh Go track them down.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: Thank you very much, Thank you s
