Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, lu Terminelo, I have to say one log of
- 0:04Speaker 1: Alex Media is a bit of a wind strenk here
- 0:06Speaker 1: because on Saturday, someone I met earlier this year, Josh
- 0:10Speaker 1: Hart and.
- 0:11Speaker 2: The Knicks win their first NBA title.
- 0:15Speaker 1: In fifty three years, which we both saw coming from
- 0:17Speaker 1: a mile away.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Yes we did, Alex, thanks for having me.
- 0:22Speaker 1: But the next night, another New York product, if you will,
- 0:26Speaker 1: even though he's in Carolina now. One last night Caandre
- 0:29Speaker 1: Miller with the Hurricane, and I got to meet him
- 0:32Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four.
- 0:33Speaker 2: So I feel like I'm on a bit of a.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Wind strenk here the last two nights knowing these guys
- 0:37Speaker 1: and seeing them win.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Well, like when you said a New York product, I
- 0:41Speaker 3: thought you were going to say Brandon Bussy because he's
- 0:44Speaker 3: from uh, he's from Long Island.
- 0:47Speaker 2: He lives in Nassall County, So that's what I thought.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I feel he's going with and he was. He was
- 0:53Speaker 2: sent down to Carolina and sorry after what was it
- 0:57Speaker 2: out to Vegas?
- 0:58Speaker 1: Right and pretty special that he got to win and
- 1:02Speaker 1: the whole family was there too.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Yes, it was. You know, he did a good job.
- 1:06Speaker 2: He was thirty one and six and.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Won during the regular season. But let's and then you
- 1:12Speaker 3: know came in at the end of the last three
- 1:14Speaker 3: games when Frederick Anderson was a little tired and a
- 1:18Speaker 3: little Nick Dupp Carolina is not telling you what really
- 1:22Speaker 3: happened to him.
- 1:23Speaker 2: But let's let's talk about Let's talk about the big
- 1:27Speaker 2: the big event in New York City over this weekend,
- 1:30Speaker 2: the NIXT.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Winning their third NBA Championship, first in fifty three years, and.
- 1:41Speaker 2: A well deserved win. Obviously, they've been elevated to.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Superstar status with led by mister Brunson, who is a
- 1:52Speaker 3: true superstar. I mean, he's fearless, he's a leader, he's
- 1:58Speaker 3: amazing clutch player, He's one of the greatest thinks of
- 2:01Speaker 3: all time. Already he is he's already a Hall of
- 2:06Speaker 3: Famer because remembering the Hall of Fame, it's not the
- 2:08Speaker 3: NBA Hall of Fame, it's the Basketball Hall of Fame.
- 2:11Speaker 3: And he combined his Villanova career with his winning the
- 2:15Speaker 3: NBA Championship.
- 2:16Speaker 2: And winning MVP.
- 2:19Speaker 3: He's he's at the top of the mountain right now.
- 2:23Speaker 2: He is the number one star in New York. I
- 2:24Speaker 2: think he might be a head of judge.
- 2:26Speaker 3: In Soto And we know baseball is the most popular
- 2:29Speaker 3: sport in New York.
- 2:30Speaker 2: But this has taken this has taken him to.
- 2:37Speaker 3: The highest of levels of of athletes in his in
- 2:39Speaker 3: his league.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And in the New York metropolitan area.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Wired one guy say he's not in the league of
- 2:47Speaker 1: Manning or Juter yet, and I want to disagree with that.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I think I think he's in the league. He's in
- 2:52Speaker 1: the legendary stature because A it's an accomplishment that has
- 2:57Speaker 1: been doing in fifty three years. B. He know he
- 3:00Speaker 1: carried the team on his back and he was he
- 3:04Speaker 1: proved his captain c W this series.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Well, I Manning is always tough to know.
- 3:13Speaker 2: It's not about.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Manning, but Maning is always tough to grade. Brunson, in
- 3:17Speaker 3: my opinion, is greater than Manning. I mean, Brunson's great
- 3:22Speaker 3: in a regular season. It's a travesty that Jalen Brunson
- 3:27Speaker 3: these last two years has not been.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Named to the first All NBA team. It's it's to me,
- 3:34Speaker 2: it's a total head scratcher. He's not.
- 3:36Speaker 3: He's not in Jesus class yet. Jeter is one of
- 3:39Speaker 3: the old Jesus class. Is you know, super Blue Chipper.
- 3:43Speaker 3: I mean really, but again, I don't want to put
- 3:47Speaker 3: myself on the back. But when everybody was saying before
- 3:49Speaker 3: the series began that the Victor webin Yama was the
- 3:52Speaker 3: best player in the series, what did I say.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Alex, You said, he's too young, basically, and.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Well, who I say it was the best player in
- 4:01Speaker 3: the series. Going into the series, I said Jalen had
- 4:07Speaker 3: had the best the Knicks had the best player, and
- 4:10Speaker 3: I thought the Knicks would win. I thought, I thought
- 4:13Speaker 3: the Spurs would win at least two games.
- 4:16Speaker 2: But even you look at at Saturday's game. Brunton is
- 4:19Speaker 2: so great that he covered up a.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Lot of Knicks deficiencies in Game five.
- 4:24Speaker 2: The Knicks did not play great in Game five, and as.
- 4:27Speaker 3: You said early on, he carried him on his back.
- 4:30Speaker 3: And uh, already in his brief Knick career. He's one
- 4:35Speaker 3: of the greatest things of all time. And remember the Knicks.
- 4:40Speaker 3: The Knicks trail for seventy.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Of the series. Of the of the total series, they
- 4:47Speaker 2: only let twenty seven percent of the time seven and
- 4:49Speaker 2: a half percent. There was only three quarters the Spurs
- 4:52Speaker 2: would have won this thing. But you know, by the
- 4:54Speaker 2: fourth quarter.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I'll talk about the stories you talk about great talk
- 5:00Speaker 1: about perseverance.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I feel like Mike Brown taught that way better than
- 5:05Speaker 2: Thipeau did.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I don't know how he did it, but he kept
- 5:08Speaker 1: these guys perseverance through twenty seven point deficit. That's very
- 5:13Speaker 1: tough to do.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yes, that's very tough to do.
- 5:17Speaker 3: But they were helped by some of the As Charles
- 5:21Speaker 3: Blockley said, some of the dumbest basketball by.
- 5:24Speaker 2: San Antonio Spurs sold Well.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I don't know if it was like this because I
- 5:28Speaker 1: was traveling on Game four. I did see the tipping though,
- 5:30Speaker 1: But what I what I was thinking is what a
- 5:35Speaker 1: basketball mind Jalen Bruston has. He knows they were going
- 5:38Speaker 1: to be aggressive, so he puts himself at the line
- 5:41Speaker 1: by making them bump into him.
- 5:42Speaker 2: It was really a genius move.
- 5:44Speaker 1: And those six shots, I know, I think he made
- 5:46Speaker 1: five of them save the Knicks that night because it
- 5:51Speaker 1: got them.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Closer and they would miss at the other end as well.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I mean, but that basketball mind to draw the foul
- 5:56Speaker 1: most times also puts them in his own climate class basketball.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that was But to me, that was just a
- 6:03Speaker 2: dumb play by Wemby.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Uh you know that was that should have that that
- 6:07Speaker 3: and that was dumb played by Wemby dunbplay a dumb
- 6:11Speaker 3: decision by Mitch Johnson not calling the time out, who
- 6:14Speaker 3: he coached a horrible series Brown now coached.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Him by a mile. Yes, this is this is vindication
- 6:21Speaker 2: from from.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Mike Brown, who wasn't the next, first, second, or third choice.
- 6:25Speaker 2: You know, they talked about Jason.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Kidd, they took about Billy Ver, Donovan uh coming in.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Uh, they even talked about Udoka, the Houston coach. But yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 2: it doesn't matter now.
- 6:35Speaker 3: He's the coach of the UH twenty five, twenty six
- 6:40Speaker 3: NBA champions and he did he did a fine job.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I think the Knicks were not even gonna be anywhere
- 6:46Speaker 1: close to contending with a new coach like this.
- 6:47Speaker 2: That's how much of a doubt a lot of people had.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I disagree with that.
- 6:52Speaker 3: I thought the Nicks were gonna be the one seed
- 6:54Speaker 3: in the regular season. But they poop pooed through the
- 6:56Speaker 3: regular season and uh, they from Game four, you know,
- 7:02Speaker 3: they won fifteen out of sixteen games, and you know
- 7:04Speaker 3: there was sixteen and three in the playoffs, which is spectacular.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I don't care who they were playing, and this is
- 7:11Speaker 3: a well deserved championship.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Now, I know, I've a point to the twenty two
- 7:16Speaker 1: point comeback against the Cavs, the twenty seven point comeback
- 7:20Speaker 1: against the Spurs. But what about that Game three in
- 7:24Speaker 1: Atlanta when they were up by like seventy something at
- 7:27Speaker 1: the half.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I mean you kind of out they were turning a
- 7:29Speaker 2: corner that.
- 7:30Speaker 1: They weren't gonna let the Hawks dominate anymore, and they
- 7:33Speaker 1: took over after that.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Yes, looking back, it's hard to believe that they didn't
- 7:38Speaker 3: beat the Hawks in fourth.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Straight the way they went on that role. But yeah, no,
- 7:44Speaker 2: I mean, they weren't going to lose the Hawks.
- 7:46Speaker 3: The Hawks were not a legitimate playoff team, and it's
- 7:50Speaker 3: hard to believe that they were down two games to one.
- 7:52Speaker 2: But you know, they took off after that and they
- 7:55Speaker 2: didn't win. They killed everybody.
- 7:57Speaker 3: I mean, this Spurs series was close as far as
- 8:00Speaker 3: on the game.
- 8:00Speaker 1: You know, it must be not Game five when they
- 8:02Speaker 1: went up seventy something.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I think that's what it was.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Game it was Game five, You're right, it was Game five.
- 8:09Speaker 3: But in Game one, three and five, the Knicks in
- 8:12Speaker 3: finals history, in Game one, three and five, half the three.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Of the four biggest comebacks happened in his finals by
- 8:19Speaker 2: the Knicks, and you know he never gave up. And
- 8:24Speaker 2: the other thing.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Is we said again that this is that we want
- 8:28Speaker 3: to talk about the Knicks, not the Spurs.
- 8:29Speaker 2: But when they're going, got tough. The tough. The Spurs
- 8:35Speaker 2: were not tough. They were I'm sorry.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I want to make this a comparison to look at
- 8:38Speaker 1: Golden Tempo, who was behind both races in the Kentucky
- 8:42Speaker 1: and the Stakes, and he ends up winning both of them.
- 8:45Speaker 1: So you know, he can't he can't count anybody out
- 8:48Speaker 1: when they're down that bar. I mean, he was back
- 8:50Speaker 1: in the pack of those two races and he won it.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So it's sort of similar if you think about it.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess being back in the pack and being
- 8:58Speaker 3: down eighty one fifty two, nine twenty seven and go
- 9:01Speaker 3: in the third quart is similar.
- 9:03Speaker 2: And you know they when you when you.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Come back, you have to get helped by a team
- 9:10Speaker 3: that's ahead.
- 9:11Speaker 1: And that's what look And I noticed the Spurs, and
- 9:14Speaker 1: I think I noticed this in Game four, specifically in
- 9:19Speaker 1: the third quarter.
- 9:20Speaker 2: They were making some really odd shots that just were missing.
- 9:23Speaker 2: That's the problem. They were making these for them. They
- 9:25Speaker 2: were making these very odd shots.
- 9:27Speaker 1: They weren't hitting the riymneyment at times as like, boy,
- 9:30Speaker 1: they're losing energy. And look at some of these teams
- 9:34Speaker 1: seem to have exerted their energy by taking that much
- 9:37Speaker 1: of a lead. But they, as I say, they were
- 9:39Speaker 1: not endured enough to take it to the finish line
- 9:42Speaker 1: most of those games.
- 9:43Speaker 2: And I'm talking about the Cavaliers also, ye, well yeah,
- 9:48Speaker 2: but the Spurs just weren't ready. They weren't good enough.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I remember the Spurs won sixty two games this year.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Last year they won thirty four. That's plus twenty eight.
- 9:58Speaker 3: That's a huge They weren't a lottery last year.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Two years ago they were twenty two and sixty. Three
- 10:05Speaker 2: years ago they were twenty two and sixty.
- 10:07Speaker 3: So when you look at it from that uh prospect,
- 10:15Speaker 3: despite the fact that they lost, and they're gonna look
- 10:18Speaker 3: at the they're gonna look at the film and say,
- 10:19Speaker 3: oh my god, this is a series that was.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Very winnable, which it was. It's really an incredible step
- 10:26Speaker 2: for the Spurs.
- 10:26Speaker 3: But I'm gonna say another thing, there's no guarantee here.
- 10:29Speaker 3: So Wemby and they're so talented, they're young and talented,
- 10:32Speaker 3: there's no guarantee that they're going to be back, and
- 10:35Speaker 3: Wenby has to get much better.
- 10:37Speaker 2: He's got to get more mature as a person off
- 10:41Speaker 2: the court. And and I don't mean in his personal life.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I mean how he handles the media walking, you know,
- 10:48Speaker 3: just not the way he handles himself.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Oh my god, it was, you know, with the media
- 10:53Speaker 2: to throw throwing the mic down. You know, he's he's
- 10:57Speaker 2: got to get.
- 10:57Speaker 3: More more mature, all right, Harbardville an offensive game on
- 11:01Speaker 3: a court exactly.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I was with a friend of mine, we were driving
- 11:04Speaker 1: around yesterday and I told her, you know, also helped
- 11:07Speaker 1: this team out.
- 11:08Speaker 2: A guy that traded.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Luka Duncic to the Lakers also let Jalen Brunson go.
- 11:13Speaker 2: So thank you Nico Harrison for Jalen Brunson.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Well, I mean, can you believe that Dallas had both
- 11:22Speaker 3: Brunson and Donkic and now that they haven't either. Now again,
- 11:27Speaker 3: and it's been said a thousand times, nobody knew that
- 11:31Speaker 3: Brunson was going to develop into the superstar.
- 11:35Speaker 1: That he is.
- 11:36Speaker 2: I always thought, oh, yeah, it was a good pick up,
- 11:38Speaker 2: you know, big pick up. He'll be solid. Uh And
- 11:41Speaker 2: but he's he's a good, a good player that he can.
- 11:49Speaker 1: He wouldn't have good gotten him, you know, so obviously
- 11:51Speaker 1: there was some But to me, he's he's he's.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Obviously he's much better than he's much better now and
- 12:00Speaker 3: he did when the Knicks first got him.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Maybe that they carried Seaton Hall.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And I'm pretty sure we carried Jalen Brunson's games when
- 12:08Speaker 1: they played Seaton Hall in Saint John's.
- 12:10Speaker 2: I might be wrong on that, Louis, but we did.
- 12:12Speaker 2: We did yep. So you know, we there's a big
- 12:16Speaker 2: history with the Garden and Brunson, and nobody saw it.
- 12:21Speaker 2: He was in the Big East. Nobody thought he was
- 12:23Speaker 2: gonna be what he is today. He's a superstar. He's
- 12:27Speaker 2: a he's a superstar.
- 12:28Speaker 1: But you know it about him and I saw him
- 12:29Speaker 1: walk into the Today Show earlier today.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Uh, he's a very humble guy.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Like he just he carries himself in a way that's
- 12:36Speaker 1: not braggadocious, that's not flashy.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Even he's just he's Jalen Brunson. It seems like he's
- 12:42Speaker 2: not a flashy guy. Well, I think that.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Nicks as a whole are a very likable team.
- 12:47Speaker 2: They're very they have a they're a team of a
- 12:49Speaker 2: likable players.
- 12:52Speaker 1: You know, here here's one thing I'd like to see,
- 12:56Speaker 1: and I know I kept saying during the postseason run Okay,
- 12:59Speaker 1: it's in the place.
- 13:00Speaker 2: They didn't have to play Boston.
- 13:03Speaker 1: The Cavs won, but anyway, there was a pathway for
- 13:08Speaker 1: the Knicks.
- 13:09Speaker 2: That just looks better for them.
- 13:11Speaker 1: But I would love to see this team take on
- 13:13Speaker 1: the Celtics because look, when the Knicks played the Celtics,
- 13:17Speaker 1: I think Og got hurt in the postseason and that
- 13:20Speaker 1: was just bad.
- 13:21Speaker 2: It was when OG's not healthy that makes a difference.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I want to see this Knicks team, fully healthy, take
- 13:28Speaker 1: on the Celtics in the.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Postseason and beat them.
- 13:30Speaker 1: That That is one thing I'd like to see, uh
- 13:32Speaker 1: next season. It's right up there with seeing the USB Canada,
- 13:36Speaker 1: which I already did in hockey. Uh, the Bills beat
- 13:39Speaker 1: the Chiefs, and the Yanks beat the SS and the Alcs,
- 13:42Speaker 1: that's all.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Those are all things I hope to see one day,
- 13:45Speaker 2: but because as not this year.
- 13:49Speaker 1: But the point is those are matchups I want to
- 13:51Speaker 1: see in the postseason because I think the Knicks would
- 13:53Speaker 1: really do well against Boston.
- 13:56Speaker 3: We don't know what we don't know what roster is
- 13:58Speaker 3: going to look like, even next year.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Actually if uh you know, I heard that.
- 14:02Speaker 3: There's a it was a crazy rumor that I don't
- 14:04Speaker 3: know if it's so crazy, but on Friday night that
- 14:06Speaker 3: Giannis was going to go to the Celtics before draft.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Coming to the Knicks. I'm hearing that too. So I
- 14:13Speaker 1: don't know what Durant supposedly might.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Be coming to the Knicks.
- 14:17Speaker 3: I don't know exactly, but I don't know how the
- 14:20Speaker 3: how the team with like the Knicks with the second
- 14:22Speaker 3: highest payroll uh in the n B A uh.
- 14:26Speaker 2: So they're gonna keep.
- 14:27Speaker 1: A lot of these guys in the next season. I mean,
- 14:29Speaker 1: they're gonna keep Towns, they're gonna keep hard, they're gonna
- 14:31Speaker 1: keep brunts, and they're gonna keep.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Why would they? Why would they? Why would they?
- 14:35Speaker 1: There's gotta be some odd man out in free agency now,
- 14:38Speaker 1: I mean, could Robinson come back?
- 14:39Speaker 2: I guess they're gonna try and get him back.
- 14:43Speaker 3: I don't I don't see any big moves by the Necks.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I really don't. I mean why why Uh, I don't
- 14:50Speaker 2: think they.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Need If they if they keep this core, I think
- 14:53Speaker 1: they can repeat.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Like I don't know yet, We'll have to see.
- 14:55Speaker 3: But yeah, Mitchell Robinson's a free agent. He'll get he'll
- 14:59Speaker 3: get money. But again I think he might.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I mean, first of all, the guy, the guy is
- 15:05Speaker 2: just a terrible free throw shooter. Oh my god. You know,
- 15:10Speaker 2: he's a liability on the court.
- 15:12Speaker 1: And he's also Pinky was hurting him a lot, and
- 15:14Speaker 1: you could tell because there was that one play he
- 15:16Speaker 1: missed a duncan. I'm like, oh, that's the Pinky acting
- 15:19Speaker 1: up right there. But you know, look, this team pieces together.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I was hoping to see Tyler koleg Moore because he
- 15:25Speaker 1: was a big part of the regular season. But at
- 15:27Speaker 1: the same time, the Knicks bench, although Mike bring Hip
- 15:31Speaker 1: harpy on it, only three points from that bench late
- 15:34Speaker 1: in the third quarter. Then they finally came alive with
- 15:37Speaker 1: the Clarksons of the Shabbits. So I mean, uh, it
- 15:41Speaker 1: just proves the bench was there the whole way through
- 15:43Speaker 1: for this team.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Well, McBride had a poor player, a poor final a
- 15:51Speaker 3: Shanit wasn't as good in the finals.
- 15:53Speaker 2: As he was in the other other series. And that's
- 15:57Speaker 2: what makes Brunson more so great.
- 16:03Speaker 3: His performance now going in to Game five, Ognnobi, who
- 16:09Speaker 3: had been had been magnificent throughout the whole playoffs and
- 16:12Speaker 3: even more magnificent during the finals. Was the leaning candidate
- 16:16Speaker 3: for Most Valuable Player in the finals, but after that
- 16:20Speaker 3: for one for the age's final game by Brunson, he
- 16:25Speaker 3: was the I'm sure he was unanimous. No, he was.
- 16:28Speaker 2: I think I read that he was. All eleven members
- 16:30Speaker 2: of the voting got him that MVP, but I ten.
- 16:34Speaker 2: And that's the trip.
- 16:36Speaker 1: There were a couple of factors that led to that.
- 16:38Speaker 1: He saw the bench wasn't helping him. He saw he
- 16:40Speaker 1: wasn't getting a lot of help from anyone else, so
- 16:42Speaker 1: he took.
- 16:42Speaker 2: It on himself.
- 16:43Speaker 1: But then he also saw he also saw the refs
- 16:46Speaker 1: may not have been giving a favorable call, so he
- 16:48Speaker 1: took it upon himself to get.
- 16:50Speaker 2: The calls himself and the fouls himself. And it was
- 16:54Speaker 2: just it was a brilliant.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Basketball strategy he had that got him forty five points.
- 17:00Speaker 1: But you mentioned og he's got to make two free throw.
- 17:03Speaker 1: At least one of those free throws he does. I
- 17:06Speaker 1: think that's still a clutch free throw, and that helped
- 17:08Speaker 1: him win the game. And at ninety four ninety so.
- 17:11Speaker 2: That was a clutch free throw, absolutely. But no, this was.
- 17:16Speaker 1: On the other side, it's like Wemby's this big and
- 17:19Speaker 1: tries to be this big character, but when it comes
- 17:20Speaker 1: down to it, I think he had a couple of.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Turnovers the other night as well. I mean, he did
- 17:24Speaker 2: give the ball up a couple of times. So it's
- 17:26Speaker 2: you know, I don't think he had a good series.
- 17:27Speaker 3: I don't care what the numbers say. But again, this
- 17:30Speaker 3: is his third year. Like I said, they were a
- 17:32Speaker 3: lottery team last year. They were in his first year,
- 17:35Speaker 3: they won twenty two games. Now, so again they weren't
- 17:39Speaker 3: enough for the moment. They really shriveled up in all four.
- 17:45Speaker 2: But also I think the.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Knicks could have been Okay, see I'm convinced of that
- 17:48Speaker 1: after Washington.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Well, yeah, we said that. I don't think that if
- 17:52Speaker 2: they were healthy, I don't think they would. But again,
- 17:54Speaker 2: it will never know.
- 17:55Speaker 3: It doesn't matter the nixt to the champions, it doesn't matter.
- 18:00Speaker 2: And they had a funny pathway to this.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I mean, they really had everything lined up for them
- 18:04Speaker 1: and the shots were just everything just bounced their way
- 18:08Speaker 1: literally this year.
- 18:09Speaker 3: So yeah, no, they they and then you know they
- 18:12Speaker 3: were so so during the regular season.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And they again they had to get you one spoon
- 18:18Speaker 1: where it was win five, lose five, and then they
- 18:21Speaker 1: finally got on a few game win streak there. I
- 18:22Speaker 1: think it was a ten game win streak or something
- 18:24Speaker 1: like that. I mean, that was a rough January. I
- 18:27Speaker 1: didn't know if they'd be able to recover. They did
- 18:29Speaker 1: for the most part, and now they're champions.
- 18:32Speaker 2: So yeah, it.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Goes to show you again the difference between the NBA
- 18:39Speaker 3: regular season and.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I want to I want to make this comment here
- 18:43Speaker 1: at one leg of Alex media the perform the disaster
- 18:46Speaker 1: you saw after the game in New York City with
- 18:50Speaker 1: buses torched and fireworks going off outside of the garden.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Those weren't the Nick fans that that that that were
- 18:58Speaker 1: doing that. I think there were a real agitators that
- 19:01Speaker 1: were brought in to infiltrate.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I don't think the real Knick fans would be that idiotic.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I really don't know, Alex.
- 19:07Speaker 3: I totally disagree with you. They weren't paid agitators. They
- 19:12Speaker 3: were I thought this wasn't a political situation. There was
- 19:18Speaker 3: no political reason for them to run those buses.
- 19:23Speaker 2: These are rabble rousers, These are hooligans.
- 19:26Speaker 3: They may not be basketball fans, they may not be
- 19:28Speaker 3: Knicks fans.
- 19:29Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 19:30Speaker 3: They're not.
- 19:30Speaker 1: They're not the average Nick fan, is what I'm trying
- 19:33Speaker 1: to say.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Well, again, I hope.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Not, because, as I said to you, New York always
- 19:39Speaker 3: when they won a championship, was they always the korum
- 19:44Speaker 3: was always there.
- 19:45Speaker 2: They never caused any kind of destruction.
- 19:49Speaker 3: But sixty three arrests on Saturday night alone, kid got
- 19:53Speaker 3: shot in the foot those buses, and those buses were
- 19:57Speaker 3: used for people coming into the you know, coming to
- 20:00Speaker 3: the Portoria, and then they were taken into two World
- 20:03Speaker 3: Cup games at Medlife Stadium.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I mean that was terrible, and you know.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Whatever, however it shook out, I think it's going to
- 20:10Speaker 1: affect the way the parade is done on Thursday.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to be everybody for the public.
- 20:15Speaker 2: I just don't know how you can do that.
- 20:18Speaker 1: They might have tickets for it, you know, it might
- 20:20Speaker 1: be that kind of security.
- 20:22Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't think. I don't. The first of all,
- 20:24Speaker 2: the parade's going to be mungous.
- 20:26Speaker 3: This might be the most people ever at a championship parade.
- 20:31Speaker 3: And you know, for a long time New York did
- 20:33Speaker 3: not have they stopped them.
- 20:35Speaker 2: They stopped championship parades.
- 20:37Speaker 3: The Knicks one they won in seventy and seventy three,
- 20:39Speaker 3: there was no championship parade. When the Jets won in
- 20:42Speaker 3: sixty nine, they had a big, a big celebration at
- 20:48Speaker 3: City Hall, but there was no there was no ticket
- 20:51Speaker 3: tape parade. Now, the weird thing is the Jets won
- 20:54Speaker 3: in January of sixty nine, the Mets won in October
- 20:58Speaker 3: of sixty nine, the Knicks won in May of seventy.
- 21:01Speaker 2: But the only one of those three teas and you
- 21:03Speaker 2: have to do some research on it. I don't mean you,
- 21:06Speaker 2: I mean the universal me whoever Met's were the only
- 21:11Speaker 2: one to have a parade down a canyon of heroes,
- 21:14Speaker 2: and they did it and the James didn't, which is
- 21:18Speaker 2: really strange.
- 21:19Speaker 3: And then you know, and then the Rangers had one
- 21:25Speaker 3: in ninety four. The Giants first two Super Bowls in
- 21:28Speaker 3: eighty six and ninety they didn't have one. They didn't
- 21:31Speaker 3: do anything in New York because the New York said, hey,
- 21:35Speaker 3: you're not playing in New York anymore. And then I
- 21:38Speaker 3: believe when they beat the Patriots, I believe American Express
- 21:44Speaker 3: or somebody aid for the parade. And then when they
- 21:48Speaker 3: won in twenty twelve they had the parade again.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But for a long time there were were there were
- 21:53Speaker 2: no parades.
- 21:54Speaker 3: So but I think this one's going to be among us, Alex,
- 21:57Speaker 3: I think this is going to be the most attended
- 22:00Speaker 3: whenever they if they can give you an accurate count,
- 22:06Speaker 3: I think this is.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Gonna be the most. This is gonna be among us.
- 22:10Speaker 2: It's gonna be insane, I know that much. Betimes, it's
- 22:14Speaker 2: gonna be insane. Absolutely.
- 22:15Speaker 1: And you know, we moved down here in twenty thirteen
- 22:20Speaker 1: half height, and we have waited twelve and a half years, Looly,
- 22:24Speaker 1: twelve and a half years Bray, one of the four
- 22:27Speaker 1: majors to come through and actually win a championship.
- 22:32Speaker 2: And here we are.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Here we are because we had just missed the eleven
- 22:35Speaker 1: twelve window with the Giants.
- 22:38Speaker 2: And then there was nothing.
- 22:39Speaker 1: The Rangers, that we all know, fourteen was a rough
- 22:42Speaker 1: series for them, the Mets of fifteen. They could have
- 22:47Speaker 1: but it just inn fought because the Royals were on
- 22:49Speaker 1: a hot streak going into that.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Yes, yes, the Royals. That was the second straight World Series.
- 22:57Speaker 2: It was their time. It was the Royals time.
- 22:59Speaker 1: And then and then you had well nothing until twenty four, right,
- 23:03Speaker 1: so that was when they Yanks hit the World Series.
- 23:06Speaker 1: That didn't happen, But of course in the interim you
- 23:08Speaker 1: had the women's national soccer team make their way down
- 23:11Speaker 1: Broadway and then you had the Liberty. So that was
- 23:14Speaker 1: pretty cool to see the Liberty get their moment. But
- 23:17Speaker 1: oh and NYCFC had a thing in twenty one down there,
- 23:22Speaker 1: but nothing major like.
- 23:24Speaker 2: This is gonna be. This is gonna be, This is
- 23:26Speaker 2: gonna be your bigger than the Yankees nineties parade? Is
- 23:29Speaker 2: what I'm Oh, I think I think it. I think
- 23:31Speaker 2: it might be. I think it could be. That's how
- 23:34Speaker 2: that's how big this is. Now.
- 23:35Speaker 3: I gotta ask you a question this, So this ended
- 23:37Speaker 3: the latest sports drought, right, fifty three years, Alex?
- 23:42Speaker 2: What constitutes a sports drought? Fifteen years, twenty years?
- 23:47Speaker 1: Well, Yanks are coming up on seventeen eighteen years.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I think a sports drought maybe more than thirty What
- 23:55Speaker 2: do you think?
- 23:57Speaker 3: I would say thirty for sure, but I would say
- 24:01Speaker 3: twenty twenty to twenty twenty.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Five somewhere somewhere in there.
- 24:06Speaker 1: And look that there's still baseball teams that have never
- 24:08Speaker 1: won the World Series, and there's still I mean, the
- 24:10Speaker 1: numbers seems to be dwindling. But if I think I'm
- 24:13Speaker 1: am on the top of the head, I think the
- 24:15Speaker 1: Rays are won, right, They've not won a World the Rays, Rays,
- 24:19Speaker 1: I don't think they won one.
- 24:22Speaker 3: No, the Mariners, Rockies, the Rockies were in one, but
- 24:29Speaker 3: they didn't win one.
- 24:32Speaker 2: You know. So there's three right there, you know.
- 24:35Speaker 1: And then in football, I mean there's still some teams
- 24:37Speaker 1: that have not won a Super Bowl.
- 24:38Speaker 2: I mean, that's just the reality. Detroit the Browns.
- 24:42Speaker 3: The Browns won a lot of NFL championships pre Super Bowl,
- 24:46Speaker 3: but Detroit the Browns, they've never won.
- 24:50Speaker 2: You know, Houston's never won.
- 24:52Speaker 3: But Houston's only been in the league since two thousand and.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Two, you know. So there are you know, there are
- 24:59Speaker 2: some uh you know, Jacksonville, Arizona.
- 25:04Speaker 1: So my point is we complained about it, but yet
- 25:06Speaker 1: there are literal teams, cities starving for a championship.
- 25:12Speaker 3: But we have the we have the most teams. We
- 25:15Speaker 3: New York has the most teams.
- 25:16Speaker 2: They have two teams in every sport.
- 25:20Speaker 3: We have three in the NHL. Uh, you know, we
- 25:24Speaker 3: have so we have the most. We have the most teams, but.
- 25:26Speaker 1: We have our fans are hungry because the eighties feel
- 25:29Speaker 1: like a long time ago.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Now they are a long time ago. That's a forty
- 25:33Speaker 2: two year drought. Uh, you know, the Nets a fifty
- 25:36Speaker 2: year drought. The uh you know they never have.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Fifty years since they won the last ABA championship, the
- 25:43Speaker 3: Jets fifty seven's.
- 25:45Speaker 2: There's a lot of routes in the city, the Nets
- 25:47Speaker 2: forty yes this year. Yeah, with no hope in right now.
- 25:54Speaker 3: But well, it's not gonna be well again, believe it
- 25:57Speaker 3: or not as bad as they've been playing, if they
- 25:59Speaker 3: could get their good guys back, especially uh and hold
- 26:03Speaker 3: on for Luella for only four and a half games
- 26:05Speaker 3: out of a.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Playoff spot as of yesterday.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Like you think about it, it's been five thousand plus
- 26:10Speaker 1: days and we've all been hungry for this a championship.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Well I had you might have been. I was. I
- 26:16Speaker 2: wasn't rooting for the Knicks, as you know, I know
- 26:18Speaker 2: you were.
- 26:19Speaker 1: But I'm saying the city was hungry for this, and
- 26:21Speaker 1: I still don't. I said, different rate between those that
- 26:25Speaker 1: were through the paperbag era of the Knicks and these
- 26:28Speaker 1: people that are transplants moving in here all of a
- 26:31Speaker 1: sudden throwing the Knicks gear on. You know, do you
- 26:34Speaker 1: know Dave de Busher is you know who Earl the
- 26:37Speaker 1: Pearl Modroe is.
- 26:38Speaker 2: You're Alex. You're one hundred percent correct.
- 26:41Speaker 1: If Frasier wasn't on TV, you wouldn't know what Clyde is,
- 26:44Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
- 26:45Speaker 2: It's like, how about Patrick Ewing.
- 26:48Speaker 1: What a moment for him to host hoist the uh
- 26:51Speaker 1: the championship, which you know the trophy was nice, which
- 26:55Speaker 1: I guess could have been his back.
- 26:56Speaker 2: In ninety four.
- 26:57Speaker 1: But anyway, you know, you tell me about Red Red
- 27:04Speaker 1: Holsman and all these other guys.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Uh, they can't, they can't. All I know is Jalen
- 27:10Speaker 2: and og at Kat I mean at j Hark.
- 27:14Speaker 1: I mean it's it's and they're great, and maybe they
- 27:17Speaker 1: all get their number retired because they did something special
- 27:20Speaker 1: like this.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Well, I can tell you number eleven is getting his
- 27:23Speaker 3: number retired.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Runs is getting his number retired, and you know, we
- 27:29Speaker 2: will forget. I remember watching Josh Hard a couple of
- 27:31Speaker 2: years ago in the postseason. He was so clutched, like
- 27:34Speaker 2: he made those clutch.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Shots, and I guess it was I think it might
- 27:37Speaker 1: have been against Atlanta at one point but against Boston
- 27:40Speaker 1: or at that Trey Young series, that's right against Atlanta,
- 27:43Speaker 1: he made that one shot.
- 27:43Speaker 2: I remember on ABC.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Watching he's a clutch guy, and you know he's a
- 27:48Speaker 1: bit of a journeyman. I think this is fourth or
- 27:49Speaker 1: fifteen he's been on right look, yes.
- 27:51Speaker 3: And but again he's on the right team now and
- 27:54Speaker 3: that's all that matters.
- 27:55Speaker 2: He fits in kat.
- 27:57Speaker 1: We were on the air after that trade or whatever,
- 28:01Speaker 1: and we.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Were like, I did Minnesota let him go? Remember that.
- 28:04Speaker 2: We were on the air the very next day about that.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Yep, he was at the bar, he was at the
- 28:09Speaker 1: Minnesota training facility, and all of a sudden he gets worried.
- 28:12Speaker 2: He's traded to New York and now he's a champion.
- 28:14Speaker 1: So Leon rode Rose and they put this team together.
- 28:18Speaker 2: But you know what, it's almost like when uh.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Reese got a lot of credit for that Super Bowl
- 28:28Speaker 1: in seven awight, but it was really Earnie A.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Coursey. I still think Pibs gets some credit because of course,
- 28:33Speaker 2: of course he does. He coaches guys. Yeah, I mean he.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Set up you know, they're excellent defensive team and that
- 28:41Speaker 3: was that was tips who you know who stressed defensive excellence.
- 28:47Speaker 2: And you know, I think I think that carried over
- 28:49Speaker 2: a little bit O line got. You gotta give Jim
- 28:53Speaker 2: Dolan a lot of credit. He took a thirty.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Million dollar gamble by firing tips. He's playing tips thirty
- 28:58Speaker 3: million not to and.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Uh, you know Mike Brown to be the coach.
- 29:04Speaker 3: He took a thirty million dollar gamble and then paid
- 29:06Speaker 3: off for Dolan, who I guess is in such a
- 29:08Speaker 3: bad owner after roll.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Now you know, he's like, why are you playing a
- 29:12Speaker 1: guitar while your teams are struggling in.
- 29:14Speaker 2: The in the garden.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I remember that very vividly. The teams were under five hundred.
- 29:18Speaker 1: He's there playing his guitar, and everybody hated him for that.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Now he's a bloved odor and it's like cut it out.
- 29:24Speaker 2: We still think. I still think. I still I'm my
- 29:26Speaker 2: issue with Dolan.
- 29:27Speaker 1: You know, I know he brought a ring here, but
- 29:30Speaker 1: you know, now you have to fix up the other team.
- 29:32Speaker 2: You know. My dream, right, my dream is he comes
- 29:36Speaker 2: up to the podium and.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Says, on Thursday, he said, I know, but it's not
- 29:41Speaker 1: gonna happen. He says, all right, nixt you were great,
- 29:45Speaker 1: Chris Durry, You're out I want the Rangers here next year,
- 29:48Speaker 1: I got.
- 29:49Speaker 2: I want that to happen, but it won't happen. But
- 29:53Speaker 2: I would like some changes on the Rangers. Now, well
- 29:55Speaker 2: you're gonna You're definitely gonna see changes on the Rangers.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Definitely because KeAndre Miller, who I talk about earlier one
- 30:01Speaker 1: last night, Yeah, Brett Howdon a former.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Ranger ye had. He was spectacular. Howton You had a
- 30:08Speaker 2: former Ranger coach, John Tortorella. Yeah, but they did the
- 30:14Speaker 2: right thing by getting rid of him.
- 30:15Speaker 3: You know, he was as welcome at and he and
- 30:17Speaker 3: he coached a couple of different teams since then. So,
- 30:20Speaker 3: but last night, if you want to just wrap it
- 30:22Speaker 3: up with the hockey, last night was a game five
- 30:26Speaker 3: series clinching Carolina classic. You know, they played the Carolina way.
- 30:30Speaker 3: They totally dominated, they shut down, they frustrated the Golden
- 30:34Speaker 3: Knights attack. They went nineteen minutes with zero shots on goal.
- 30:39Speaker 3: And you're talking about a team with a lot of
- 30:41Speaker 3: great offensive players. And that's why Carolina became the eighth
- 30:47Speaker 3: different team to win the Stanley.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Cup over the last eight years. Talk about championship parody.
- 30:55Speaker 2: And you know, Bussy, the last three games was great.
- 30:59Speaker 3: I was really really impressed by the number of Carolina
- 31:03Speaker 3: fans that came to Vegas.
- 31:06Speaker 2: I mean that shocked me.
- 31:08Speaker 3: They were there were so many, and that was that
- 31:12Speaker 3: That was one.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Thing that that shocked me.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Peat that how many Carolina fans were at the game
- 31:17Speaker 3: last night in Las Vegas.
- 31:20Speaker 2: And Jordan still thirty seven years old.
- 31:22Speaker 3: He wanted he want a Cup with Pittsburgh when he
- 31:24Speaker 3: was twenty and now.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Wins another one.
- 31:28Speaker 1: And you know what, they just celebrating fifty years of
- 31:30Speaker 1: Hartford hockey. This still goes to the Whalers a little
- 31:34Speaker 1: bit because it's their team.
- 31:36Speaker 2: I mean it was originally their team.
- 31:38Speaker 1: So and uh about the player now coach winning it
- 31:43Speaker 1: twenty years apart, I mean, yeah, he's.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Also on the fourth one.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Only fourth time that's ever happened a player called a
- 31:51Speaker 3: player capptain and coach the Stanley Cup winning team. And
- 31:58Speaker 3: remember there was some there was some talk about that
- 32:01Speaker 3: they weren't going to resign them last year. He as
- 32:05Speaker 3: Sean McDonough, the brilliant Sean McDonough said last night, he's
- 32:09Speaker 3: defacing the franchise.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I even asked you on the year a couple of
- 32:13Speaker 1: years now, do you think Brenda was done because I remember.
- 32:15Speaker 2: It was that right, Yes we did.
- 32:16Speaker 1: We did exit against the Rangers, and everybody started to say,
- 32:19Speaker 1: oh my god, here we are again. And then sure
- 32:21Speaker 1: enough the patients paid off and an He won.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I think the Shore did.
- 32:27Speaker 3: And they were on everybody side.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I mean every year they're a thorn in everybody's side.
- 32:35Speaker 1: So it was a matter of time before I went together.
- 32:38Speaker 1: And look Stall I mentioned him before. I think he
- 32:41Speaker 1: wont MPPs today. He did a story ever, I mean, the.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Oldest con Spin Trophy winner ever.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I want to get your perspective on this because I
- 32:55Speaker 1: was to fifty three years. You saw the seventy seventy
- 32:58Speaker 1: three he tames. Was there a different kind of dominance
- 33:03Speaker 1: with that.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Era than there is now?
- 33:05Speaker 1: I mean it just feels like a different kind of
- 33:07Speaker 1: strategy or kind of a different winning. I mean, were
- 33:10Speaker 1: they both dominating times for these teams?
- 33:14Speaker 2: For this team? Well, there's a couple of differences.
- 33:20Speaker 3: The NBA was what should I say, it was more
- 33:25Speaker 3: top heavy than it is now. You had the Lakers,
- 33:28Speaker 3: You had the Milwaukee Books with Jabbar bul Jabbar. You
- 33:32Speaker 3: had the Lakers with Western Chamberlain, Gale Goodrich and Jim
- 33:36Speaker 3: mcmillaney had.
- 33:36Speaker 2: The Knicks with Willis, Reed and Frasier and Bradley and
- 33:42Speaker 2: the Busher and Earl, the Pearl Montroe. These are great
- 33:45Speaker 2: basketball teams. These are smart basketball teams.
- 33:50Speaker 3: There was no three point shot until nineteen seventy nine,
- 33:53Speaker 3: so that the game was different.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Defense was more rest in it is now.
- 34:01Speaker 3: There was no there was no such things as uh
- 34:05Speaker 3: rest rest management, you know, no maintenance time days.
- 34:10Speaker 2: You had more dominant centers.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Everybody says, when Whenby's this, and when Bey's that, he's
- 34:16Speaker 3: been an Elijah one, he's better than No.
- 34:18Speaker 2: He's not. He's not even close, and we get his
- 34:20Speaker 2: ass kicked.
- 34:21Speaker 3: In the seventies, chamber Chamberin would would break him like
- 34:24Speaker 3: a twig, the strongest man probably ever to play him
- 34:27Speaker 3: or shack the strongest man ever to play the game.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Uh you know, Willis would take him outside and drive
- 34:36Speaker 3: around him or take jump shots. This and this next
- 34:39Speaker 3: team was dominant in the seventies because they went to
- 34:43Speaker 3: the finals three times in four years and they won
- 34:45Speaker 3: two of them.
- 34:46Speaker 2: They played the Lakers all three times. And by the way,
- 34:49Speaker 2: I wanted to make this history.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Note this was pre merger, so this is really the
- 34:52Speaker 1: first ever NBA outright title for the next.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Right this is this is pre merger and kudos is Nick.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Team fabulous fun to watch, but if they played the
- 35:09Speaker 3: Nixon seventies they might win.
- 35:12Speaker 2: One game.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Performance I think individually goes up there, right up there.
- 35:23Speaker 2: But again it'll never top Willis Reeves because he've had
- 35:26Speaker 2: a little injury and all that.
- 35:29Speaker 1: But this performance, like og sippin that moment, is up there.
- 35:35Speaker 1: But this performance I think makes it to second and
- 35:40Speaker 1: probably I agree.
- 35:41Speaker 3: I mean Brunson. Brunson's performance in game six is an
- 35:46Speaker 3: old timer. I mean he has the most points ever by.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Nick in a playoff game. Before that, it was thirty
- 35:52Speaker 2: eight by the captain Willis Reid. But Brunson's performance the
- 35:57Speaker 2: other night is.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Reminds me of by Way, because you know, Willis route
- 36:01Speaker 1: well and I remember and I read well.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I mean, he was one of my best friends.
- 36:05Speaker 1: We told the story with Jim Lambrella, but I want
- 36:08Speaker 1: maybe people who were.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Just tuning in for the first time, you know, people
- 36:13Speaker 2: may forget he.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Went from the Knicks obviously legendary too, and that's executive.
- 36:18Speaker 2: I mean, that was his life.
- 36:20Speaker 3: It was Yes, he was with us for eighteen eighteen
- 36:24Speaker 3: nineteen years.
- 36:25Speaker 2: I mean, and he was a good friend, your co worker.
- 36:29Speaker 3: He was a mentor and advised me on a couple
- 36:31Speaker 3: of things that I took his advice on and it
- 36:35Speaker 3: paid off.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Did you ever have these guys like, oh my god,
- 36:38Speaker 1: it's Willis Reed, I grew up watching you or were
- 36:40Speaker 1: you kind of like what was he like?
- 36:43Speaker 2: Times?
- 36:44Speaker 3: Sometimes Alex, yeah, you look back and say, holy god.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Well I'm friends with Willis Reed. I saw him play.
- 36:52Speaker 3: I mean sometimes you take it for granted when he's
- 36:54Speaker 3: you know, when you're in that business.
- 36:56Speaker 2: But yes, you take a step back and say, wow, wow,
- 37:02Speaker 2: you do.
- 37:04Speaker 3: And he was as great a human being as he
- 37:07Speaker 3: was a player.
- 37:09Speaker 2: That's how good he was. He's the best guy.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Well, let's reach is the best person I've ever met
- 37:13Speaker 3: in professional sports.
- 37:14Speaker 1: And I want to give this thought to the Viscardi Center.
- 37:17Speaker 1: He was one of the guys that came out to
- 37:19Speaker 1: Viscardi along with.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Well Clyde and Earl the Pearl.
- 37:23Speaker 1: I would love to see the twenty twenty five, twenty
- 37:25Speaker 1: six Nicks come out to VISCARTI and we talked a lot,
- 37:31Speaker 1: but I wanted to end it right there because man,
- 37:34Speaker 1: that was a lot of content. But yes, Lou Urmandello's
- 37:37Speaker 1: take on the comparison of the seventies to the twenty
- 37:40Speaker 1: twenty six, twenty five to twenty six Nicks and though
- 37:45Speaker 1: it was Nison five, it was Nicks in twenty twenty six.
- 37:50Speaker 1: And that's my message to end Terminelo's take. Thank you
- 37:54Speaker 1: Lou for joining us and we'll have you back soon
- 37:58Speaker 1: at one Lego alex Media
