- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey everybody, it is time once again for the latest
- 0:12Speaker 1: edition of Birds Weekly, presented by the Inside of the
- 0:15Speaker 1: Birds Network. For that man right there, Ray did drum,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Derek gun and Ray. Thanksgiving just didn't taste the same,
- 0:23Speaker 1: or the day after Thanksgiving just didn't taste the same
- 0:26Speaker 1: after watching that debacle at Lincoln Financial Field. Now, you know,
- 0:31Speaker 1: we spend a lot of time going over game scenarios
- 0:35Speaker 1: in our mind leading up to a game, and for
- 0:38Speaker 1: the life of me, what we witness Friday never even
- 0:43Speaker 1: crossed my mind. I expected it to be a good game,
- 0:46Speaker 1: hard fought game, but I never expected to see a
- 0:50Speaker 1: Bears team come in here, especially a Bears team under
- 0:53Speaker 1: a first year head coach that had won five games
- 0:57Speaker 1: in the last two minutes of a game, that was
- 1:00Speaker 1: learning how to win, come in here in steamroll this
- 1:05Speaker 1: Eagles team on both sides of the football, the way they.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Did, they did everything you just said they did. I mean,
- 1:15Speaker 2: you looked at the Bears as a team that was
- 1:20Speaker 2: on the come. You know, I was willing to grant
- 1:23Speaker 2: them that.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Figure.
- 1:25Speaker 2: They started this year zero to two, and they came
- 1:28Speaker 2: rolling in here at eight and three, same record as
- 1:30Speaker 2: the Eagles. But you know, I mean, they had beaten
- 1:34Speaker 2: They beat the Raiders by one point, they beat Washington
- 1:37Speaker 2: by one point. I mean, there was the feeling that
- 1:40Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know how you felt, but I
- 1:41Speaker 2: looked at the eight and three and kind of thought,
- 1:46Speaker 2: I'm not so sure it's legit.
- 1:49Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I thought that he was a witness game. I didn't
- 1:51Speaker 2: think it would be easy because, let's face it, the
- 1:53Speaker 2: way that he was have played this year. I don't
- 1:55Speaker 2: know that any game figures to be easy with this team,
- 1:57Speaker 2: but I thought, certainly at home they would win it.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I never expected it to turn into what it turned into,
- 2:04Speaker 2: which was just a straight up sixty minute beat down,
- 2:08Speaker 2: is what it became, which leaves us to ponder the
- 2:13Speaker 2: question of is there hope for this team? Is there
- 2:18Speaker 2: is there a coming back for this team? Given where
- 2:21Speaker 2: they are right now. I Mean, you can say all
- 2:23Speaker 2: you want about, oh, they're still eight and four, Oh
- 2:27Speaker 2: they're still in first place in the NFC East, which
- 2:30Speaker 2: is all true, but if you just look at the
- 2:34Speaker 2: team and the state of the team right now, it's
- 2:37Speaker 2: pretty hard to be optimistic about the future.
- 2:41Speaker 4: You know.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I know people don't want to hear this, but the
- 2:45Speaker 1: way the Eagles are playing right now. That Dallas team,
- 2:48Speaker 1: all of a sudden is coming around. They beat the
- 2:52Speaker 1: last two defending Super Bowl champions in a span of
- 2:55Speaker 1: four days. Granted, both games went home for them, and
- 2:58Speaker 1: they are much different team at home, and that don't
- 3:00Speaker 1: than they are on the road. But the bottom line
- 3:02Speaker 1: is this slowly closing in on this Eagles team. You know,
- 3:05Speaker 1: leading up to this game, right after that debacle down
- 3:09Speaker 1: in Dallas. All we heard all week long from this
- 3:13Speaker 1: Eagles team, from the coaches on down to the players.
- 3:16Speaker 1: We got to address the little details. It's about focus,
- 3:21Speaker 1: it's about executing, it's about finishing plays. Second play from scrimmage,
- 3:28Speaker 1: they get a false start and I'm thinking, what the
- 3:31Speaker 1: heck did they work on all week?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Right?
- 3:34Speaker 3: Exactly right, exactly right. I Mean, that's.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Story the story in the season. Really, Uh is that
- 3:42Speaker 2: kind of sloppiness, that kind of just dumb football, poor execution.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I Mean we talk a lot about the play calling,
- 3:53Speaker 2: which you know, steers us right back to Kevin Patullo again,
- 3:56Speaker 2: like like that's that's where the problems beginning at. And
- 4:01Speaker 2: I'm not saying that there aren't problems there, there are,
- 4:05Speaker 2: but there's just so much of that stupid stuff and
- 4:09Speaker 2: just lows the execution and just poor football that you know,
- 4:14Speaker 2: the play calls, that's part of it, but I mean
- 4:17Speaker 2: the problems.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Go way, way way beyond that.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And you know, there was a you know, my old
- 4:25Speaker 2: friend and you probably remember Mark Wicker, who used to
- 4:28Speaker 2: be a columnist here in Philadelphia, really good writer.
- 4:32Speaker 3: He's now living on the West Coast.
- 4:33Speaker 2: He's writing an online column now which is called The
- 4:36Speaker 2: Morning After, which I would recommend it to our viewers.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Anybody has access to the Internet, try and find a
- 4:44Speaker 2: website called The Morning After. And Wicker writes every day
- 4:47Speaker 2: on some sports topic. And he wrote today a column
- 4:52Speaker 2: looking back on the Eagles Bears game, and he said
- 4:57Speaker 2: something that pretty pretty chilling but kind of rings true.
- 5:03Speaker 2: He said, with that shot, that TV shot in the
- 5:08Speaker 2: fourth quarter of the fans heading up the steps and
- 5:12Speaker 2: out in the exits with the game still going on, that,
- 5:15Speaker 2: you know, the Eagles fans all on their green leaving
- 5:20Speaker 2: that with it with about five minutes six minutes to go,
- 5:24Speaker 2: he said. Wicker said, the feeling I had, the song
- 5:29Speaker 2: that I heard ringing in my head was ding dong
- 5:33Speaker 2: the Witch is Dead, which is sort of just saying
- 5:39Speaker 2: the you know, last year's champions, they're gone.
- 5:43Speaker 3: And you know, I mean watching the way.
- 5:47Speaker 2: That game went down, you know, I mean I kind
- 5:52Speaker 2: of get where he's coming from on that it had
- 5:54Speaker 2: that feeling. I mean, you had the feeling of I
- 5:58Speaker 2: don't know you felt about it, Derek, but watching that game,
- 6:00Speaker 2: the feeling I had was it was two teams going
- 6:05Speaker 2: in different directions. You had a young, hungry team that
- 6:10Speaker 2: wanted it really bad and are really starting to believe
- 6:14Speaker 2: in themselves and are on the path and maybe doing
- 6:17Speaker 2: big things, versus a team that looked old, tired and
- 6:25Speaker 2: frankly not up to the task. That's how it looked,
- 6:30Speaker 2: you know. I mean, you can go through all the
- 6:32Speaker 2: x's and o's, and we could do that all night
- 6:35Speaker 2: if you wanted to.
- 6:36Speaker 3: But on the.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Basic level of which team looked like the better team,
- 6:43Speaker 2: which team looked like it wanted it more? To me,
- 6:46Speaker 2: it's the Bears.
- 6:48Speaker 4: You know.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You look across social media right after the game and
- 6:53Speaker 1: even through today as we taped this podcast, and a
- 6:57Speaker 1: lot of people are already ready to give up on
- 7:00Speaker 1: Eagles for twenty twenty five. For me, I'm not quite
- 7:06Speaker 1: there yet. When you look at the rest of this schedule,
- 7:09Speaker 1: which could be misleading by the way. I mean, they
- 7:11Speaker 1: do have a favorable schedule after they go past the Chargers,
- 7:14Speaker 1: when you consider they still have the Raiders, they still
- 7:17Speaker 1: have two games against Washington to play as well. But
- 7:21Speaker 1: I'm teetering, ray, I'm on a teeter totter, and the
- 7:25Speaker 1: teeter totters like this now in terms of do I.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Keep hope, do I give up? Where are you at
- 7:31Speaker 4: this point?
- 7:34Speaker 2: Same thing? Yeah, same thing. I'm not prepared to say
- 7:39Speaker 2: it's over. I'm not prepared to say that it's done,
- 7:43Speaker 2: that they can't make the playoffs, because you still look
- 7:48Speaker 2: at the roster and you still look at the talent
- 7:50Speaker 2: there and you can't deny it.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I mean, it's there. But I'm looking at the same
- 7:58Speaker 3: way you are.
- 7:59Speaker 2: I mean, I'm looking at schedule and I'm seeing the
- 8:02Speaker 2: Raiders look to me like they can't get out of
- 8:04Speaker 2: their own way right now.
- 8:05Speaker 3: So, I mean, that's the.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Game that played in Philadelphia. I mean, I can't imagine
- 8:10Speaker 2: anyway to lose that game. And you got to figure
- 8:13Speaker 2: the two Washington games. I mean the Commanders are I mean,
- 8:17Speaker 2: they're they're pretty much shot. So I mean those certainly
- 8:20Speaker 2: are three winnable games. But even though this, you know,
- 8:25Speaker 2: the Bills are not having a particularly great year either,
- 8:28Speaker 2: But you got to go up there and play them,
- 8:31Speaker 2: and the likelihood is that the Bills will be playing
- 8:34Speaker 2: for something, So I don't think that would be an
- 8:37Speaker 2: easy game by any means. And then you got the
- 8:40Speaker 2: game coming up on Monday against against the Chargers, who
- 8:43Speaker 2: have a very good defense.
- 8:46Speaker 3: And you know, as I know.
- 8:50Speaker 2: That Jim Harbaugh as an offensive play caller man, he
- 8:54Speaker 2: wants to pound the rock, and you give him a
- 8:59Speaker 2: week and an extra day to study the tape of
- 9:02Speaker 2: this game justin Herbert might not, he might not hit
- 9:06Speaker 2: double digits and pass attempt. Jim Harborough might just dust
- 9:12Speaker 2: off the old Woody As playbook for this one and
- 9:14Speaker 2: just come out, you know, and run that and run that,
- 9:18Speaker 2: that counterplay that inside inside zone where you know, you
- 9:22Speaker 2: just start everything going this way and then cut back
- 9:26Speaker 2: on the And the Eagles had no answers for that.
- 9:30Speaker 2: You know, I was trying to figure out had it
- 9:34Speaker 2: ever happened before that? A visiting team came into Philadelphia
- 9:40Speaker 2: and played the Eagles and had two backs rushed from
- 9:43Speaker 2: more than one hundred yards because the stat that Al
- 9:47Speaker 2: Michaels brought out last night, which they dug up during
- 9:50Speaker 2: the game, was the last time the Bears had two
- 9:53Speaker 2: runners go for more than one hundred yards, and they
- 9:56Speaker 2: went they had to go all the way back to
- 9:57Speaker 2: eighty five, which was the Bears Super Bold season when
- 10:01Speaker 2: it was with Walter Payton and Matt Suey. But I'm
- 10:04Speaker 2: thinking I'd like to know, look at this from the
- 10:06Speaker 2: Eagle standpoint, when's the last time a visiting team came
- 10:09Speaker 2: into Philly and.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Had two backs go over one hundred yards?
- 10:12Speaker 4: Well?
- 10:14Speaker 2: I looked it up because you know, I mean, I
- 10:17Speaker 2: just finished rewriting the Eagles Encyclopedia, which you had behind
- 10:20Speaker 2: you there. Yeah, so I had a lot of my
- 10:23Speaker 2: old history stuff sort of stacked in a drawer er,
- 10:25Speaker 2: so I went through it, Derek, unless I'm missing one,
- 10:30Speaker 2: and I don't think I am. I think the last
- 10:32Speaker 2: time a visiting team came into Philly and had two
- 10:36Speaker 2: backs rushed from more than one hundred yards in that
- 10:39Speaker 2: game was Opening Day nineteen sixty.

- 11:55Speaker 4: Oh, come on kidding me.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Honestly, I think I think it was.
- 12:03Speaker 2: And it was the Cleveland Browns, and the two backs
- 12:07Speaker 2: were Jim Brown and Bobby Mitchell's who.
- 12:11Speaker 3: You know are now both in Canton. Yeah, both in
- 12:15Speaker 3: the Hall of Fame.
- 12:16Speaker 2: And I will still always contend I think Jim Brown
- 12:18Speaker 2: is the greatest football player I've ever seen.
- 12:21Speaker 3: But that's it.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And like I said, maybe I missed one somewhere along
- 12:26Speaker 2: the line, but I don't think so. I think that's
- 12:28Speaker 2: the last time that happened. The opener of the nineteen
- 12:31Speaker 2: sixties season. Okay, And guess what, Jim Brown and Bobby
- 12:36Speaker 2: Mitchell both great players, they didn't rush for as many
- 12:40Speaker 2: yards as.
- 12:40Speaker 4: These two guys. Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness.
- 12:45Speaker 2: That's the kind when we talked about this being a
- 12:47Speaker 2: historic beat town.
- 12:49Speaker 6: That's how historic it was, right, Not just two backs,
- 12:56Speaker 6: but two backs listed on the roster at five eight
- 13:00Speaker 6: in about two five, two seven, you.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Would have thought they were Earl Campbell and Jim Brown
- 13:06Speaker 1: running out of that backfield. I mean, at the end
- 13:10Speaker 1: of the first quarter, the Bears had eighty four yards
- 13:14Speaker 1: rushing against a defense that was giving up one hundred
- 13:16Speaker 1: and fifteen a game. At halftime, they had one forty two.
- 13:21Speaker 1: At the end of the game, they had two hundred
- 13:26Speaker 1: eighty one yards rushing as a team. I'm still trying
- 13:29Speaker 1: to get that to soak in. The Eagles defense, which
- 13:32Speaker 1: had been tough and which had bailed this team out
- 13:35Speaker 1: time and time again all season and was tough against
- 13:39Speaker 1: the run, gave up two hundred and eighty one yards rushing.
- 13:45Speaker 1: And it wasn't like the Bears were using any plays
- 13:48Speaker 1: of trickery.
- 13:50Speaker 4: They just lined up and just took it to.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Them, right, yeah they I mean, how many times did
- 13:56Speaker 2: you see that same play where you start one way,
- 14:00Speaker 2: the blocking going one way, and then the back just
- 14:02Speaker 2: comes up and just cuts out and just cuts to
- 14:04Speaker 2: the open side, cuts out the back door over and
- 14:07Speaker 2: over again, and it was there.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I mean, you know you said the two hundred and
- 14:13Speaker 2: eighty one yards, I mean, that's a pretty stunning statistic.
- 14:17Speaker 2: But rushing first downs for the game, yours had seventeen.
- 14:22Speaker 2: The Eagles had two. So this was this was just
- 14:27Speaker 2: total domination the line of scrimmage the Eagles. I know
- 14:31Speaker 2: you worked with Seth Joyner fund the game, So I
- 14:35Speaker 2: know what Seth's reaction must have been sitting there watching
- 14:40Speaker 2: four quarters of guys not getting off blocks, you know,
- 14:44Speaker 2: linebackers not filling holes, mistackles all over the plays. I
- 14:49Speaker 2: can only imagine what Seth was saying about that, but
- 14:54Speaker 2: I mean it was that bad.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Now.
- 14:57Speaker 2: You know, we've talked in past weeks of about really
- 15:01Speaker 2: kind of how valiantly this defense has played week in
- 15:05Speaker 2: and week out to keep this team afloat when the
- 15:08Speaker 2: offense hasn't been doing Diddley, you know. I mean we've
- 15:10Speaker 2: been saying that every week. I mean the defense, heck,
- 15:13Speaker 2: I mean the Green Bay game of the Detroit game
- 15:15Speaker 2: of defense won those games for you because the offense
- 15:17Speaker 2: didn't do anything. But this was one game where all
- 15:20Speaker 2: of a sudden, I mean, the defense just completely fell apart.
- 15:23Speaker 2: And and anybody that had been paying even a little
- 15:26Speaker 2: bit of attention to the Bears, if you watched them
- 15:29Speaker 2: at all this year, the one thing about him is, man,
- 15:32Speaker 2: their offensive line was good, and they were they were physical,
- 15:36Speaker 2: and they had a you know, and Ben Jonson, he
- 15:40Speaker 2: has an approach to this team. I mean, they've got
- 15:42Speaker 2: an edge to them, and they come in and and
- 15:45Speaker 2: they're gonna they're going to try and prove to you
- 15:46Speaker 2: that they could be more physical than you are at
- 15:48Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage, and they're going to win at
- 15:50Speaker 2: the point of attack. That's the way this Bears team
- 15:53Speaker 2: is built, and that's the way they've played. Uh and
- 15:56Speaker 2: they certainly, I mean, they've been good all year until
- 16:00Speaker 2: they got to eight and three. But and they said
- 16:02Speaker 2: this after the game, this was their biggest win of
- 16:05Speaker 2: the season. And go on the road against the Super
- 16:07Speaker 2: Bowl champs into their stadium and hand them that kind
- 16:11Speaker 2: of a beating. I'll tell you this, the Bears. The
- 16:16Speaker 2: Bears might wind up winning that division. They really might.
- 16:19Speaker 2: And at the start of this year, when you looked
- 16:22Speaker 2: at when you were signing up, I think you never
- 16:24Speaker 2: even thought Ben Jonson was a really good coach and
- 16:26Speaker 2: he was going to improve that team.
- 16:28Speaker 3: And he certainly has.
- 16:30Speaker 2: But you looked at that division the start of the year,
- 16:32Speaker 2: you know, Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota, those are all playoff teams,
- 16:37Speaker 2: and I think at least I felt that, Okay, the
- 16:40Speaker 2: Bears are going to improve. I mean, this coach is
- 16:42Speaker 2: going to They're going they're going to improve under this coach.
- 16:44Speaker 2: But they're not going to climb. You know, they're not
- 16:47Speaker 2: going to jump these other teams because those other teams
- 16:49Speaker 2: are there now. You know, the Bears are going to
- 16:51Speaker 2: come on and they're gonna you know, they're going to
- 16:53Speaker 2: get better, But I don't see them getting ahead of
- 16:56Speaker 2: those other teams. Maybe one of them, but you know,
- 16:58Speaker 2: they're not going to. My goodn't a certain gonna jump
- 17:01Speaker 2: from last place to first place in one year? Well
- 17:03Speaker 2: guess what they might? Because right now, right now, they're
- 17:06Speaker 2: they're playing really good. And the thing is it's a
- 17:10Speaker 2: young team, and with each one of these wins, they're
- 17:14Speaker 2: just getting more confident, you know, and this win against
- 17:18Speaker 2: the Eagles on Friday is going to just take their
- 17:21Speaker 2: confidence up even higher.
- 17:23Speaker 4: You know.
- 17:24Speaker 1: After the game, DeAndre Swift, who was here for a
- 17:27Speaker 1: brief stint with the Eagles, said, we wanted to send
- 17:29Speaker 1: a message to the league in this game. I sit
- 17:34Speaker 1: here and Ray, the only thing I can say is
- 17:37Speaker 1: message received loud and clear.
- 17:42Speaker 4: They were not a great.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Defense statistically, especially against the run. They were not a
- 17:51Speaker 1: defense that put a lot of pressure on quarterbacks or
- 17:54Speaker 1: sacked the quarterback a lot. They were not a prolific offense.
- 18:00Speaker 1: The quarterback was completing fifty nine percent of his passes
- 18:03Speaker 1: coming into this game. But again, message received loud and
- 18:09Speaker 1: clear in terms of them playing as a cohesive unit
- 18:14Speaker 1: on both sides of the ball, making the necessary plays
- 18:16Speaker 1: when they have to.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean the one Defensively, I mean they were,
- 18:22Speaker 2: you know, twenty fifth in this category. They were twenty
- 18:25Speaker 2: seventh in this category. I mean defensively, they.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Had not been good. They're given up yards or given
- 18:29Speaker 3: up points.
- 18:31Speaker 2: They were given up. But I mean this stat was
- 18:33Speaker 2: almost jowne driving to me. They were worse in the
- 18:36Speaker 2: leg giving up yardage on first down, Like, they were
- 18:40Speaker 2: given up almost seven on the average for the whole season,
- 18:43Speaker 2: seven yards on every first down play. How how do
- 18:49Speaker 2: you take that those defensive stats and translate that into
- 18:53Speaker 2: an eight and three record. It just didn't seem to
- 18:55Speaker 2: make sense unless you went to the old giveaway takeaway
- 18:59Speaker 2: You look at the number of times i mean, sixteen
- 19:02Speaker 2: interceptions twenty four takeaways.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I mean, they were like way ahead of everybody.
- 19:07Speaker 2: So that was the great equalizer, And that was one
- 19:10Speaker 2: of the things you and I both talked about last week,
- 19:12Speaker 2: was well, yeah, that seems to be how they're winning
- 19:15Speaker 2: the games is that they're taking the ball away from
- 19:17Speaker 2: the other team. But we all know now that the
- 19:20Speaker 2: Eagles they never turned the ball over. I mean, that's
- 19:24Speaker 2: the one thing they don't do. You know, they don't
- 19:26Speaker 2: make a lot of big plays, they don't score a
- 19:29Speaker 2: lot of points, but they don't turn the ball over.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Well, guess what in this game and a couple of
- 19:34Speaker 3: big spots you did.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And it was just enough for the Bears to get
- 19:38Speaker 2: for the Bears to come in here and win a
- 19:39Speaker 2: game that I don't think. I don't think very many
- 19:42Speaker 2: people thought they were going to win. But they want it,
- 19:44Speaker 2: and they want it convincingly.
- 19:45Speaker 1: You know, as we were talking about, the Bears were
- 19:47Speaker 1: running a basic zone blocking concept, you know, push everybody
- 19:52Speaker 1: one way back goes out the back door the other way.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I can't remember the last time, ready, to be honest,
- 19:57Speaker 1: where I saw a jailing Carter and Jordan Davis getting
- 20:01Speaker 1: manhandled for sixty minutes of football when they've lined up together.
- 20:07Speaker 1: And to me, Ray, and this is my own perspective,
- 20:09Speaker 1: my own opinion, to me, it looked like not just
- 20:12Speaker 1: those two, but the entire defensive front was going through
- 20:16Speaker 1: the motions at times. It's like they would just if
- 20:19Speaker 1: a blocker just pushed them one way. It was like
- 20:21Speaker 1: they were just dancing with them in one direction until
- 20:25Speaker 1: somebody else would make it play somewhere else. I hadn't
- 20:27Speaker 1: seen that from this defense in twenty twenty four or
- 20:31Speaker 1: this year up until this game. It started to happen
- 20:34Speaker 1: in the Dallas game, but what we saw in this
- 20:36Speaker 1: game was atrocious.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Hey, it's Jeff Mosher, and if you have a family

- 21:54Speaker 5: no sake, like simply.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Say, very simple stuff really when you get right down
- 21:57Speaker 2: to it. I mean it's just a simple concept to
- 22:00Speaker 2: get everything kind of moving one way and then zone
- 22:03Speaker 2: block it up and then create that back door lane
- 22:06Speaker 2: for the back to just find it, cut it, hit it,
- 22:08Speaker 2: and he's gone. And I mean the backs were coming
- 22:13Speaker 2: through there. I mean they were into the secondary without
- 22:16Speaker 2: even being touched on a lot of those plays. It
- 22:19Speaker 2: was a very very well, very well designed and very
- 22:23Speaker 2: well executed running it. Heck, I'll tell I'll tell you
- 22:25Speaker 2: Gunner I'm watching that game and the way they're running
- 22:30Speaker 2: the ball, I'm thinking, why is Ben Johnson even throwing
- 22:34Speaker 2: at one time?
- 22:35Speaker 3: You know, because I mean.
- 22:37Speaker 2: The kid, you know, Williams, he finished the day forty
- 22:40Speaker 2: seven percent completely. I mean, he was only a fifty
- 22:42Speaker 2: nine percent completion guy going in. He finished completing forty
- 22:46Speaker 2: seven percent. He was under fifty percent in the game
- 22:49Speaker 2: on a day when you were absolute total control of
- 22:51Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage, your backs are ripping off seven
- 22:54Speaker 2: eight yard games like they're nothing. You're playing in a
- 22:57Speaker 2: day when it's cold and it's winds blowing forty mile
- 23:00Speaker 2: an hour. Heck, I don't know that I would have.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I don't know that I would have thrown five passes
- 23:04Speaker 2: in the whole game. Yeah, you know, I was a
- 23:05Speaker 2: little bit surprised that Johnson threw it as much as
- 23:08Speaker 2: he threw it. But of course they get to win
- 23:11Speaker 2: easy anyway. But I mean, they had such control of
- 23:13Speaker 2: the game, and they were so totally neutralizing the Eagles
- 23:16Speaker 2: front seven that I'm actually surprised that Johnson ran it
- 23:20Speaker 2: as much as he did. I'm not sorry, but that
- 23:23Speaker 2: he passed it as much.
- 23:24Speaker 4: As he did.
- 23:25Speaker 1: They ran over eighty offensive plays in this game eighty
- 23:29Speaker 1: five over eighty.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Plays in this game. Right, and you know, Caleb, the
- 23:34Speaker 4: one thing.
- 23:35Speaker 1: He has he has a strong arm, but he has
- 23:37Speaker 1: an inaccurate arm as well. But the one pass he
- 23:40Speaker 1: threw on the on the on the play actions in
- 23:43Speaker 1: quarterback boot leg, he rolled out to his left and
- 23:47Speaker 1: in the wind, floated that pass twenty eight yards to
- 23:49Speaker 1: comment for that touchdown, that was a thing in beauty.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I think that was his best pass of the day. Yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 1: I mean, he doesn't make a lot of great passing plays,
- 24:00Speaker 1: but what I've seen of him, I've watched this team play,
- 24:02Speaker 1: this Bears team play five times now this season. He
- 24:06Speaker 1: makes the necessary throws when he has to. I mean,
- 24:08Speaker 1: he's still got a long ways to go, but Ben
- 24:10Speaker 1: Johnson has done wonders in terms of building his confidence
- 24:15Speaker 1: and understanding how to read defenses. He doesn't always get
- 24:18Speaker 1: the ball to where he's supposed to go, but he
- 24:20Speaker 1: gets it there when he has to, and that has
- 24:22Speaker 1: significantly contributed to the success of the the of that team.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and he and he can he can run when
- 24:31Speaker 2: he has to. Uh, and he can you know, and
- 24:34Speaker 2: he'll he'll get out of the pocket and and run
- 24:37Speaker 2: and run for that big first down to keep a
- 24:39Speaker 2: drive alive.
- 24:40Speaker 3: He can do that.
- 24:42Speaker 2: The one thing you can see with him and this
- 24:45Speaker 2: is where this is where he will over the next
- 24:47Speaker 2: couple of years make his greatest improvement and maybe and
- 24:51Speaker 2: maybe really really come on as a passer is just
- 24:55Speaker 2: his mechanics are just not good, you know. I mean,
- 24:58Speaker 2: his footwork is just not good. I mean some of
- 25:01Speaker 2: the some of the poor throws he had in this game.
- 25:05Speaker 2: And I understand the wind was a factor for sure,
- 25:08Speaker 2: but some of them, I mean, he still just doesn't
- 25:10Speaker 2: get his feet under him. He throws a lot of
- 25:11Speaker 2: balls off ballance balls, hang up, balls, sail on him.
- 25:16Speaker 3: And that's just mechanics stuff. I mean, he's got it.
- 25:18Speaker 2: He's got the strong enough arm, He's got a very
- 25:22Speaker 2: strong arm. He just has to get his whole body
- 25:25Speaker 2: underneath those throws. And that's just mechanics.
- 25:28Speaker 3: That's just repetition.
- 25:30Speaker 2: And we saw, you know, we saw what Johnson did
- 25:33Speaker 2: with Jared Goff in Detroit in terms of making him
- 25:36Speaker 2: a more efficient passer. And I think that over time,
- 25:39Speaker 2: with more time to work with work with him, Johnson
- 25:42Speaker 2: will do the same thing with Williams. But right now,
- 25:45Speaker 2: he's just kind of, you know, he's just kind of
- 25:48Speaker 2: a playmaker more than he is a pure quarterback right now,
- 25:51Speaker 2: and he's you know, when you've got the line playing
- 25:54Speaker 2: the way they're playing and the backs running the way
- 25:56Speaker 2: they're running right now, all he has to do is
- 25:59Speaker 2: make a couple of play is here and there, and
- 26:01Speaker 2: it's going to be enough to win. But I agree
- 26:03Speaker 2: with you that that sort of that sort of little
- 26:05Speaker 2: bootleg action to the left when he floated at the
- 26:07Speaker 2: battle of the tight end who had gotten behind blanket ship.
- 26:10Speaker 2: I mean, that was a really a really good call
- 26:14Speaker 2: and a really well executed play, and you know, the.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Bears, there's no conclusion to think, Wait, the Bears will
- 26:22Speaker 3: look like the.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Better team here. I mean, and by and by a lot.
- 26:26Speaker 2: It wasn't even close, did the And yet you know
- 26:31Speaker 2: there was the score was so close for such a
- 26:33Speaker 2: long time, even though the Bears were completely dominating it.
- 26:37Speaker 2: You kind of got the feeling, at least I got
- 26:38Speaker 2: the feeling the Eves were not playing well at all.
- 26:41Speaker 2: The Bears are in complete control, but you kind of
- 26:44Speaker 2: got the feeling, Okay, Themes are playing bad, but they're
- 26:47Speaker 2: going to get a break.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Or two.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Here they're going to score and they're going to go
- 26:50Speaker 2: ahead and they're going to win the game, and we'll
- 26:53Speaker 2: be saying when it's over, Oh, it was ugly.
- 26:55Speaker 3: It was another ugly game.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Another but they found the way to win, you know,
- 27:00Speaker 2: I mean we thought it was going to be another
- 27:01Speaker 2: one of those and it wasn't. I mean, they had
- 27:04Speaker 2: their opportunity there where they score the one touchdown, they
- 27:07Speaker 2: get it to ten nine, and typical of the season,
- 27:10Speaker 2: Elliott misses the PA two. So now Bears get the
- 27:16Speaker 2: ball back and Williams throws that little swing pass screen
- 27:21Speaker 2: pass that Jlex Hunt intercepts. The Eagles get the ball
- 27:26Speaker 2: and now they get the interception in the red zone. Okay,
- 27:29Speaker 2: so here you figure, Okay, it's ten to nine. The
- 27:31Speaker 2: Eagles get the turnover. Now they're going to take it
- 27:33Speaker 2: in score and finally get the lead, which they hadn't
- 27:36Speaker 2: at the lead all. Now they're going to finally get.
- 27:38Speaker 3: The lead and they'll be ahead and okay, now now
- 27:40Speaker 3: they're going to win the game.
- 27:41Speaker 2: You know, as bad as they've played to this point,
- 27:44Speaker 2: as much as the Chicagos dominated, you know, this is
- 27:46Speaker 2: going to be one of those that they're going to
- 27:48Speaker 2: the old they found.
- 27:49Speaker 3: A way to win. Well, they didn't this time. You know,
- 27:51Speaker 3: they ran the toush push, got stripped, turned the ball over,
- 27:56Speaker 3: the Bears take it the rest of the way, score
- 27:58Speaker 3: the touchdown, and guess what, it's over at that point.
- 28:02Speaker 3: I mean, the Eagles had their chance right at that
- 28:04Speaker 3: moment to score the touchdown and maybe get control of
- 28:07Speaker 3: the game. They turned it over.
- 28:09Speaker 2: The Bears take it away, which have been doing all year,
- 28:12Speaker 2: take it the other way for a touchdown, and from
- 28:14Speaker 2: that point on it was their game.
- 28:16Speaker 1: You know, We're gonna get to Jalen in just a
- 28:19Speaker 1: moment because wow, I mean, that's all you can say
- 28:22Speaker 1: about Jalen's lack of performance in this game. But from
- 28:26Speaker 1: your perspective, what is happening to fit Vic Fangio's defense. Now,
- 28:30Speaker 1: we saw them fall apart in then second half against Dallas.
- 28:35Speaker 1: We saw a complete collapse against this Bears team from
- 28:38Speaker 1: start to finish. This is not a Vic Fangio defense
- 28:42Speaker 1: that we've grown accustomed to. Scene and players are out
- 28:46Speaker 1: of position, players are missing tackles, players are still committing penalties,
- 28:51Speaker 1: unnecessary penalties. I don't know how to pinpoint what I'm
- 28:55Speaker 1: seeing in the Vic Fangio defense right now. And you know,
- 28:59Speaker 1: you covered the game longer than I haven't. I've been
- 29:01Speaker 1: covering it for over forty years. Maybe you have a
- 29:04Speaker 1: different perspective in terms of what you're seeing from this
- 29:07Speaker 1: big defense right now.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Well, this was different in a sense that what happened
- 29:14Speaker 2: in Dallas was against the Cowboys team. For whatever else
- 29:20Speaker 2: you want to say about them, they're explosive. I mean,
- 29:24Speaker 2: you know, they're the number one there's number one passing
- 29:26Speaker 2: team in the league. They're the number two scoring team
- 29:30Speaker 2: in the league. I mean, that's an explosive offense. And
- 29:32Speaker 2: when they get it going, and especially in that building,
- 29:37Speaker 2: they can blow you out. And that's what happened. They
- 29:40Speaker 2: got the ball, they got hot, they got that offense cooking,
- 29:43Speaker 2: and they just blew the Eagles. I've seen them do
- 29:47Speaker 2: that before, so that was okay, it comes. You know,
- 29:50Speaker 2: they come out of a twenty one nothing hole and
- 29:52Speaker 2: they beat it. Well, that's that's pretty bad. But okay,
- 29:58Speaker 2: I get it because I know I know who's doing
- 30:00Speaker 2: it to you. And on one level, it kind of
- 30:02Speaker 2: makes sense because they could do that to anybody. This
- 30:07Speaker 2: was a harder one to figure because this was a
- 30:09Speaker 2: top to bottom beat down from a Bears team. That's
- 30:14Speaker 2: I mean, they're young and they're good, but they're not
- 30:18Speaker 2: that that they would that they would come in and
- 30:20Speaker 2: they would just dominate you and dominate you at every level.
- 30:23Speaker 2: I mean they dominated you with the line of scrimmage,
- 30:25Speaker 2: they ate up your linebackers, they made big plays in
- 30:28Speaker 2: the passing game, and just had their way with you
- 30:33Speaker 2: for sixty minutes they did, and the defense was just collapsed,
- 30:40Speaker 2: you know, and I just wonder, you.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Know, what is it? I mean, is it? You know?
- 30:46Speaker 3: The Eagles have been losing time of possession pretty much
- 30:48Speaker 3: every week anyway. Yep, that's just the way the season's going.
- 30:51Speaker 5: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 30:56Speaker 5: long lines, We've all been there. But when it comes
- 30:58Speaker 5: to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is

- 31:46Speaker 5: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 31:50Speaker 5: one and up.
- 31:51Speaker 3: You know, maybe the bottom just fell out on them.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe that after what happened to them in Dallas,
- 31:58Speaker 2: that kind of a game. You know, maybe the short week,
- 32:03Speaker 2: maybe they were just exhausted.
- 32:04Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 32:04Speaker 2: I mean, it was just but it just didn't seem
- 32:07Speaker 2: it just didn't seem like they had anything right from
- 32:09Speaker 2: the beginning of the game. It isn't like fatigue set
- 32:12Speaker 2: in in the second half. They got pushed around in
- 32:16Speaker 2: the first half. And one of the things that I'm
- 32:19Speaker 2: that I'm struck by in this was the similarity of
- 32:22Speaker 2: the weeks from earlier this season, the two games they
- 32:27Speaker 2: lost then to these two games they lost now very
- 32:31Speaker 2: similar and very disturbing for the same reasons. First time
- 32:35Speaker 2: they lose to Denver at home. The game very.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Similar to the Cowboys game.
- 32:40Speaker 2: They seem like they're ahead, they're in control, they're in command,
- 32:44Speaker 2: and they and Denver comes about and beats them at
- 32:47Speaker 2: the end of the game. And the feeling, you guys,
- 32:49Speaker 2: that they blew this game. You know, they had this
- 32:52Speaker 2: game and they let Denver come back and steal it
- 32:54Speaker 2: from them. But short week, you know, we're going to
- 32:57Speaker 2: New York on Thursday.
- 32:59Speaker 3: You know, get everything right, We go to New.
- 33:01Speaker 2: York and it's worse. Yeah, in New York and and
- 33:04Speaker 2: and they absolutely kill you. This was kind of the
- 33:07Speaker 2: same thing. You know at the Dallas team. You're twenty one,
- 33:10Speaker 2: nothing to lead, everything's great, and all of a sudden
- 33:13Speaker 2: they they come back and they beat you. Short week.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Now this time you're coming home and you're playing the Bears,
- 33:19Speaker 2: and the Bears put the same kind of beating on
- 33:21Speaker 2: you that the Giants did earlier this season. Very similar.
- 33:24Speaker 2: You know, gaming, you seem to have in hand, you
- 33:27Speaker 2: blow it. You come back in a short week and
- 33:29Speaker 2: you get beat worse by a lesser team. Why, I mean,
- 33:34Speaker 2: that's that's you can put that on the players. But
- 33:37Speaker 2: to me that that smacks of coaching. You know, that
- 33:40Speaker 2: really smacks of coaching. And we've certainly talked a lot
- 33:43Speaker 2: about the offensive coaching and the shortcomings of the offensive coaching.
- 33:47Speaker 2: This is the wizard one week where you kind of
- 33:48Speaker 2: got to look at the defense and maybe point your
- 33:51Speaker 2: finger to the defensive coaches too.
- 33:53Speaker 1: You know, you know it's a bad game when Jake
- 33:58Speaker 1: Elliott misses an next your point, But the problems run
- 34:02Speaker 1: deeper still, and that brings us to the franchise quarterback
- 34:06Speaker 1: and Ray I think this might have been his worst
- 34:10Speaker 1: game of the season if you really sit down and
- 34:13Speaker 1: analyze it. He had he had Aj Brown on a
- 34:17Speaker 1: crossing route that would have been an easy first down.
- 34:21Speaker 1: He's staring right at him, throws the ball by him.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Aj has to go down to his knees to get
- 34:25Speaker 1: the ball and doesn't get the first down. He has
- 34:30Speaker 1: Davante on a slant, which was the proper read. Davante
- 34:33Speaker 1: on the slant wide open, he would have walked it
- 34:36Speaker 1: in for six. He throws it behind Davante and on
- 34:39Speaker 1: the same play, Dallas godd is running the scene route,
- 34:42Speaker 1: waving his hand like he's waving a flag. There's nobody
- 34:44Speaker 1: within ten yards of Dallas. He misses both of them
- 34:48Speaker 1: on what would have been a touchdown. He could have
- 34:50Speaker 1: changed the minimum of this game. And then he throws
- 34:53Speaker 1: he throws a pick on a rollout.
- 34:55Speaker 4: He just he will.
- 34:56Speaker 1: He's one up and throws a pick on a rollout,
- 35:00Speaker 1: and of course you talked about it. He fumbles on
- 35:02Speaker 1: the touch push he gets Now Naseean Wright made a
- 35:06Speaker 1: great hit on the ball and pull the ball loose
- 35:08Speaker 1: and got the ball and.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Recovered it for the Bears.
- 35:10Speaker 1: But I think overall, Ray this might have been his
- 35:14Speaker 1: worst game of the season. Now people are gonna say
- 35:16Speaker 1: they are those who had supported Jalen supporters no matter what.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Who are gonna say, not just us, but the media
- 35:21Speaker 1: in general is Jalen bashing because we hate Jalen. This
- 35:25Speaker 1: is not about hate. This is a fair observation, fair critique,
- 35:29Speaker 1: And I think I don't know what it is because
- 35:32Speaker 1: if you look at the play where he threw it
- 35:35Speaker 1: and aj had to go down on.
- 35:36Speaker 4: His knees, he had time to throw the ball. If
- 35:39Speaker 4: you look at the route he.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Threw to DeVante, he had time to throw the ball,
- 35:43Speaker 1: set his feed and throw the ball and still threw
- 35:45Speaker 1: it behind him. And I don't know what he's thinking
- 35:47Speaker 1: of what's going through his mind during these sequences, Ray,
- 35:50Speaker 1: but something about his game is way off.
- 35:53Speaker 3: It wasn't it Sure was this time.
- 35:56Speaker 2: I hadn't thought about it and comparison to the other
- 36:01Speaker 2: games this season.
- 36:03Speaker 3: But to your point about worst game of the year, yeah,
- 36:08Speaker 3: it might be.
- 36:09Speaker 2: It might be, especially when you consider you're up against
- 36:14Speaker 2: what were the the twenty fifth ranked defense or something.
- 36:17Speaker 3: It isn't like. I mean, we can we can talk about.
- 36:22Speaker 2: The coaching part of it, which is you were going
- 36:26Speaker 2: up a team against a team that was given up
- 36:29Speaker 2: an average of more than five yards per carry. I mean,
- 36:32Speaker 2: this is the team that hadn't stopped anybody's running attack
- 36:34Speaker 2: all year, and yet you came out on a blustery, gusty, cold,
- 36:39Speaker 2: windy day and I thought that I thought you just
- 36:41Speaker 2: threw the ball way too much.
- 36:43Speaker 3: I mean, I know this team hasn't been able to
- 36:46Speaker 3: run the ball at all this year, but there were
- 36:49Speaker 3: glimpses in this where I.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Thought it looked like the running game had a chance.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Not that they were all of a sudden that found something.
- 36:56Speaker 2: But the Bears defense had that many holes in terms
- 36:59Speaker 2: of run defense that I thought the opportunity was there
- 37:02Speaker 2: for the Eagles to run the ball and and have
- 37:05Speaker 2: some success with it for maybe for the first time
- 37:07Speaker 2: all year. I was a little bit surprised at how
- 37:11Speaker 2: many times they just had Hurts just standing in the
- 37:14Speaker 2: shotgun and just trying to sling it when it clearly
- 37:18Speaker 2: wasn't a good day for him, and it was a
- 37:20Speaker 2: tough day for anybody to throw the ball it. Conditions
- 37:23Speaker 2: just weren't up orn't good for it. So I thought
- 37:27Speaker 2: that was I was a little bit surprised at the
- 37:30Speaker 2: play calling, to be honest with you, But to your
- 37:34Speaker 2: point about Hurts his own performance, yeah, it was.
- 37:38Speaker 3: It wasn't good.
- 37:39Speaker 2: The the little slant that you talked about one advante
- 37:46Speaker 2: which is you know you're driving, you're driving the ball,
- 37:49Speaker 2: you're in their territory. Uh, it's a play that there's
- 37:53Speaker 2: clearly an opening that if he catches the ball, you
- 37:55Speaker 2: put the ball on him and he catches it, it's
- 37:57Speaker 2: a very good chance he can take that into the
- 37:59Speaker 2: end zone them. You know, we've talked a lot about
- 38:02Speaker 2: Kevin Patuolo, bad play calling, unimaginative play calling, not getting
- 38:08Speaker 2: guys open.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Well, none of that was true on that play.
- 38:11Speaker 2: It was a good call. You had a good receiver
- 38:13Speaker 2: who was open. There's an opportunity for a big play
- 38:16Speaker 2: right there, and the quarterback just doesn't put it on them.
- 38:19Speaker 2: I mean, that's you can't blame that one on the coaches.
- 38:22Speaker 2: I mean, that was a good call. It was a
- 38:24Speaker 2: just a lousy throw. And that's kind of been the
- 38:27Speaker 2: story of the season. And you know, if this were
- 38:32Speaker 2: Week three and it were September, you and I might
- 38:34Speaker 2: be saying they'll work this out. Yeah, yeah, there's still
- 38:38Speaker 2: there's still it's early in the season. They're just working
- 38:40Speaker 2: these things out.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Well, Thanksgiving is coming gone and it ain't early no more.
- 38:46Speaker 2: And I think I've kind of come to grips with
- 38:48Speaker 2: the fact that this is what they are, you know,
- 38:51Speaker 2: And I don't think they're going to get a whole
- 38:53Speaker 2: lot better.
- 38:53Speaker 3: They just have to find a way to try to
- 38:55Speaker 3: win with what they have right now. And Okay, they've
- 38:58Speaker 3: gotten to eight and four, but.
- 39:01Speaker 2: This, this isn't This does not have the look to
- 39:05Speaker 2: me of a team that, even if they get into
- 39:07Speaker 2: the postseason, has anything that's going to get them beyond
- 39:12Speaker 2: Game one. You know, I think if they get in,
- 39:15Speaker 2: I mean, to me, I just don't see them lasting
- 39:17Speaker 2: very long.
- 39:18Speaker 1: You know, you've mentioned a couple of times about the
- 39:21Speaker 1: play calling, and you know, I sit here and I
- 39:25Speaker 1: agree with you one hundred But when you look at
- 39:28Speaker 1: this game across the board, this was not about play calling.
- 39:32Speaker 1: This was about player execution on both sides of the ball.
- 39:36Speaker 1: And once again people are screaming fire Petullo, Fire Petullo,
- 39:41Speaker 1: and Nick Sirianni after the game, came out and emphatically
- 39:44Speaker 1: stated we are not changing play callers. Should he have
- 39:49Speaker 1: made that statement right there or should he have just
- 39:52Speaker 1: kept quiet about and let people speculate leading up to
- 39:54Speaker 1: the Chargers game, Because now people are even more irate
- 39:58Speaker 1: that Nick is standing his ground and he's supporting Petullo
- 40:01Speaker 1: one hundred percent. Again, I will also emphasize in this game,
- 40:05Speaker 1: as it was the case in the Dallas game, this
- 40:07Speaker 1: this is not about just play calling player execution. I
- 40:11Speaker 1: mean quarterback missing missing reads, missing throws, the offensive line
- 40:16Speaker 1: not sustaining blocks, the defense getting mauled. You know, across
- 40:21Speaker 1: the board for sixty minutes. Can you make a change
- 40:26Speaker 1: right now? I don't know about you. I don't want
- 40:28Speaker 1: to see Nick Sirealni calling plays. You know who you're
- 40:32Speaker 1: going to promote from within. You're not going to bring
- 40:34Speaker 1: an outside play caller in, maybe an outside consultant to
- 40:38Speaker 1: look at your overall scenario and give suggestions. But Canny,
- 40:42Speaker 1: can he do anything differently now in terms of as
- 40:46Speaker 1: we hone in on Petullo to to do anything different
- 40:49Speaker 1: to change what is going on right now?
- 40:52Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Nick has now been asked that question more than one. Yeah,
- 41:01Speaker 2: in some of these games. The questions come up after games.
- 41:04Speaker 2: The question has come up during the week during his
- 41:06Speaker 2: press conferences. Are you considering changing the play callers?
- 41:12Speaker 3: Uh?
- 41:12Speaker 2: And he has been absolutely adamant. But no, Kevin will
- 41:17Speaker 2: continue to call the place. I mean he hasn't even
- 41:21Speaker 2: hedged on that or pause before he answered. It's just
- 41:26Speaker 2: just a blunt no. No, Kevin's going to continue to
- 41:29Speaker 2: call the place. I'll take him at his word that
- 41:33Speaker 2: that's what he wants to do, that that's what he
- 41:35Speaker 2: feels it should do.
- 41:38Speaker 3: Uh.
- 41:39Speaker 4: But I don't know.
- 41:40Speaker 2: I mean behind the scenes, what if the owner. One
- 41:44Speaker 2: if the owner says I've had enough and Ken calls,
- 41:48Speaker 2: you know when we know now over the last few
- 41:51Speaker 2: over you know with experience going back to Doug Peterson
- 41:55Speaker 2: that if things aren't going Jeff's way, Jeff has no
- 41:59Speaker 2: problem call on the coach and saying we you know
- 42:01Speaker 2: know that this isn't this isn't working. You know this coaching,
- 42:06Speaker 2: this coaching thing is not working. We need we need
- 42:08Speaker 2: to change.
- 42:09Speaker 5: Hey, I still like a good night out, but I'm
- 42:11Speaker 5: not always in the mood to drink. And that's why

- 43:38Speaker 3: Could that happen? I wonder, you know.
- 43:43Speaker 2: And the other thing I'm wondering is that that Hard
- 43:47Speaker 2: Knocks series, the what they call Hard Knocks in season
- 43:53Speaker 2: thing is beginning like now, and it's going to be
- 43:59Speaker 2: on the air.
- 43:59Speaker 3: It's getting on in the air right about now. This
- 44:02Speaker 3: is going to be the all.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Access cameras in the meeting rooms, cameras in the locker
- 44:07Speaker 2: room and everything with all of the NFC East teams.
- 44:11Speaker 3: So the NFL Film's camera crews.
- 44:15Speaker 2: They're going to be down Novacare uh, and they're going
- 44:17Speaker 2: to be filming all kinds of stuff.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Uh.
- 44:20Speaker 2: And they're going to be wanting to dive into the
- 44:24Speaker 2: what the hell's happened to the Super Bowl champs? What's
- 44:27Speaker 2: happening behind the scenes. You know, what kind of conversations
- 44:32Speaker 2: are they going to overhear about all of this stuff?
- 44:36Speaker 2: And we saw what the Hard Knocks thing did with
- 44:39Speaker 2: the Giants last year when they were in the office whenever,
- 44:43Speaker 2: in the office of Joe Shane, when he when he
- 44:45Speaker 2: just told the owner that I'm not going to sign
- 44:48Speaker 2: one Barkley, and all of a.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Sudden, it's it's out there for the whole world to see.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Okay, you know what are those cameras going to see
- 44:56Speaker 2: and hear inside the Eagles right now? I mean, the
- 45:00Speaker 2: Eagles do a pretty good job of walling off the media,
- 45:05Speaker 2: you know, letting the access, controlling the message, as we
- 45:08Speaker 2: like to say, you can't do that with these you know,
- 45:12Speaker 2: with the way they shoot these Hard Knocks thing. You know,
- 45:17Speaker 2: the cameras could stumble upon something here that might be
- 45:20Speaker 2: a real reveal as to how things are working in there.
- 45:23Speaker 2: And you know, the last thing to give it a
- 45:26Speaker 2: state that the Eagles are in right now. The last
- 45:28Speaker 2: thing they need is to having to worry about a
- 45:31Speaker 2: camera over somebody's shoulders. But now they don't have any choice.
- 45:36Speaker 2: It's there. So for the fans that have been wondering
- 45:40Speaker 2: what's happening behind closed doors, now you know what kind
- 45:43Speaker 2: of what.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Kind of unrest is really going on?
- 45:46Speaker 2: Who's really mad at who, who's really pointing fingers at who? Well,
- 45:51Speaker 2: you may be you may be getting the answer soon
- 45:53Speaker 2: on television because Hard Knocks is going to be that's
- 45:56Speaker 2: going to be one of the storylines that they're going
- 45:58Speaker 2: to want to follow is what's wrong with the Super
- 46:01Speaker 2: Bowl champs and can they get it right?
- 46:04Speaker 4: Well?
- 46:05Speaker 1: Where does leadership on this team come into play?
- 46:08Speaker 4: Ray?
- 46:09Speaker 1: If you look at Brandon Graham since he's been back,
- 46:11Speaker 1: he doesn't play many plays, hasn't been effective at all.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Zach Bond, outside of the almost pick he had down
- 46:19Speaker 1: in Dallas, has been relatively silent in games. You know,
- 46:23Speaker 1: Lane Johnson is down with that planner fasciitis. I'm sorry,
- 46:27Speaker 1: Liz frank injury. Where's where's leadership and who are the leaders?
- 46:33Speaker 1: Who are the guys that can can stand up and
- 46:36Speaker 1: get in people's faces right now. And I've I've been
- 46:39Speaker 1: going over it in my mind. Ray, I don't come
- 46:42Speaker 1: to a conclusion there there is a definitive player or
- 46:46Speaker 1: players right now that can rally the troops. They're gonna
- 46:52Speaker 1: have to do it collectively, but I don't see a
- 46:55Speaker 1: definitive player who can step forward and bend people's ears
- 47:00Speaker 1: and get them to listen right now.
- 47:03Speaker 2: No, you're right, I mean, and that's one of the
- 47:07Speaker 2: things that we talked about earlier this season, was especially
- 47:13Speaker 2: on the defensive side, because there are so many young
- 47:16Speaker 2: players over there. Who is the leader over there? Good question,
- 47:22Speaker 2: and you would think it would be Bond, But he's
- 47:26Speaker 2: only in his second year with the team, and I
- 47:29Speaker 2: don't know that he has that kind of personality. Na
- 47:31Speaker 2: Kobe Dean, I think has that kind of personality, but
- 47:35Speaker 2: he's not hasn't been back all that long. I mean,
- 47:39Speaker 2: he's he's missed a lot of time, so I don't
- 47:41Speaker 2: know if he's really in that position right now. And
- 47:44Speaker 2: then on the other side, on the offensive side, it
- 47:49Speaker 2: probably was Laying. It probably was Lane Johnson, but now
- 47:52Speaker 2: he's out, so good question. I mean where do you
- 47:56Speaker 2: where do you look for your leadership right now? If
- 47:59Speaker 2: you're this team, I mean the obvious place you would
- 48:01Speaker 2: say of your quarterback, But he's got his own issues
- 48:05Speaker 2: right now. So yeah, I mean there's a lot of stuff.
- 48:08Speaker 2: There's a lot of stuff going on with this team
- 48:11Speaker 2: right now, and not much of it is good. And
- 48:16Speaker 2: you got a lot of you got a lot of
- 48:17Speaker 2: things to work out and not a whole lot of
- 48:19Speaker 2: time to do it, because I mean this game, I
- 48:25Speaker 2: mean this game coming up. I mean, everybody's assuming, oh,
- 48:27Speaker 2: they're eight and four, they'll be fine, they'll make the playoffs.
- 48:30Speaker 2: Well yeah, maybe, but do you think do you really
- 48:36Speaker 2: think they're going to have an easy time of it
- 48:37Speaker 2: Monday out in La I don't think so. I really
- 48:42Speaker 2: don't think so. If you lose that one, three losses
- 48:44Speaker 2: in a row, now you're eight and five, let's say
- 48:46Speaker 2: the Cowboys win again, and now they're just one game back.
- 48:50Speaker 2: It's it's it really is. It really is amazing from
- 48:55Speaker 2: where we were how many weeks ago, three there we
- 48:59Speaker 2: are now this team that this team is fighting for
- 49:02Speaker 2: their lives. But the one thing it's been true from
- 49:05Speaker 2: the beginning is you know, there's been something missing.
- 49:09Speaker 3: With this team right from the start.
- 49:11Speaker 2: You know, they've won some games, the scraped down a few,
- 49:14Speaker 2: the defense has just saved them a couple of times.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Offense has never gotten it together ever to this and
- 49:22Speaker 2: right now that is still true, and so that they
- 49:26Speaker 2: find themselves in this position right now, it's scary but
- 49:30Speaker 2: not surprising.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Well, this is a team, indeed, that has a lot
- 49:35Speaker 1: of soul searching to do. They have some extended time
- 49:38Speaker 1: off now to get ready for what's going to be
- 49:41Speaker 1: a rugged encounter against the La Chargers out West on
- 49:45Speaker 1: a Monday night, and you're right, if they lose that game,
- 49:49Speaker 1: people are really going to be irate that this team
- 49:52Speaker 1: has lost three in a row. But they've got a
- 49:55Speaker 1: lot of issues that settle between now and then, and
- 49:57Speaker 1: they've been telling us they know exactly what to do,
- 50:01Speaker 1: and they still haven't done it yet. So it's going
- 50:04Speaker 1: to be interesting to see now that they're back against
- 50:06Speaker 1: that Proverbia wall, how they're gonna come out swinging. And
- 50:09Speaker 1: of course that Chargers team we're going to talk about
- 50:11Speaker 1: later in the week, because they've got a very interesting
- 50:14Speaker 1: defense and some very interesting offensive weapons that are going
- 50:17Speaker 1: to pose a severe problem for this Philadelphia Eagles team. Hey,
- 50:21Speaker 1: before we wrap this thing up, we'll give you a
- 50:24Speaker 1: chance to promote your big event coming up again pretty soon.
- 50:26Speaker 3: Now, yes it is.
- 50:28Speaker 2: It is going to be Wednesday night, December third, and
- 50:32Speaker 2: it'll be Glenn mack now, the Great, Joe Coughlin and
- 50:35Speaker 2: me doing the greatest moments in Philadelphia sports history all
- 50:40Speaker 2: in one night over at the Scottish Rites Auditorium in Colleineswood,
- 50:45Speaker 2: New Jersey. And you know, it's a fun night. There's
- 50:49Speaker 2: a lot of laughs, a lot of good memories, a
- 50:52Speaker 2: lot of highlights.
- 50:53Speaker 4: It's sort of the.
- 50:53Speaker 2: Ultimate highlight show. And it's one that I just think
- 50:58Speaker 2: it's just it lifts your spirits.
- 51:01Speaker 3: And if there's.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Anything that the Philadelphia sports fans need right now, something
- 51:05Speaker 2: that's going to lift their spirits, and I guarantee you
- 51:08Speaker 2: that this show will do that. So Wednesday night, December third,
- 51:12Speaker 2: Scottish Right Auditorium, the greatest moments in Philadelphia sports history.
- 51:17Speaker 2: I assure you, there will be nothing from the last
- 51:19Speaker 2: two Eagles games. Okay nothing. Okay, we may reference it
- 51:23Speaker 2: you want to see it, Okay, but everything, everything that
- 51:26Speaker 2: we're going to run out on that stage is going
- 51:28Speaker 2: to be something that's going to bring back good memory.
- 51:30Speaker 2: So if you want, if you need something that's going
- 51:32Speaker 2: to make you feel better, this is the place for you.
- 51:35Speaker 2: So come on out Scottish Rights Auditorium Wednesday night. Look
- 51:38Speaker 2: to see you there.
- 51:39Speaker 1: All right, good deal? Right, Well, that'll wrap up this
- 51:42Speaker 1: edition of Birds Weekly. We will be back here next
- 51:45Speaker 1: week after the Eagles take on the Los Angeles Chargers out.
- 51:49Speaker 4: West, and keep your fingers crossed.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Hopefully it'll be a w and we're not talking about
- 51:54Speaker 1: a third and secut de bail So if forreat danger,
- 51:56Speaker 1: I'm Derek Gunn.
- 51:57Speaker 4: Until then, we'll see you later.
- 52:01Speaker 3: Baimia Bauhimana Baumana Bauakia ban
