- 0:00How do you respond to negative stimulus?
- 0:02Do you let your situation change who you are channeling?
- 0:04James calls the tongue the rudder of the ship in James 3:4-5.
- 0:09How is your tongue steering you?
- 0:11Moment of honesty,I suffer from "spewage of harsh words" when I feel like I am under attack,
- 0:18stressed,not in control or need to exert righteous anger.
- 0:21Today,I am going to attempt to be more Christ-like,
- 0:25I have to let the Holy Spirit guide me and identify the root cause and my reaction.
- 0:30My husband underwent a minor surgery recently and I noticed that the anesthetic turned him into a kind,
- 0:37adorable 5 year old.
- 0:39He is a kind and adorable fellow to begin with,so his deviation from his true nature was minimal in this case.
- 0:46Me on the other hand, have been called an angel in cool and composed situations.
- 0:51I know the truth of what I can say when I am put in situations that negatively stimulate me.
- 0:56The root cause is that I have not internalized James' advice.
- 0:59Quote,"Look also at ships,although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds,
- 1:05they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.
- 1:09Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.
- 1:13See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
- 1:16And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity.
- 1:20The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body,
- 1:24and sets on fire the course of nature;
- 1:27and it is set on fire by hell.
- 1:29For every kind of beast and bird,of reptile and creature of the sea,
- 1:34is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
- 1:37But no man can tame the tongue.
- 1:39It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
- 1:42With it we bless our God and Father,and with it we curse men,
- 1:46who have been made in the similitude of God.
- 1:49Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing.
- 1:52My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
- 1:55" End quote.
- 1:56James chapter 3 verses 4 to10.
- 1:59Now, with this, hopefully, I can channel Jesus through my word choice.
- 2:04But, what about the situations?
- 2:07In life, I am going to be put in many negative and wrong situations.
- 2:11How should I react?
- 2:13If we remember that God is always in control and that He is just,
- 2:18we will not need to address any negative situations head on.
- 2:21I can pause, pray and then react with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
- 2:26Remember, Quote, "Vengeance is Mine, and recompense;
- 2:30Their foot shall slip in due time;
- 2:33For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them.
- 2:37’" End quote.
- 2:39Deuteronomy chapter 32, verse 35.
- 2:42And Quote "Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath;
- 2:47for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
- 2:52" End Quote.
- 2:53Romans Chapter 12, verse 19.
- 2:56So, there it is.
- 2:58Trust the Lord and channel Jesus.
- 3:00Dear Jesus,Teach me to talk like you.
- 3:03Let me be kind when I use words.
- 3:06May I channel you and Your goodness in every word that leaves my lips.
- 3:10God, Forgive me for not trusting in You in all seasons.
- 3:14Help me trust you now and forever.
- 3:16I ask in Jesus' name.
- 3:18Amen!
