- 0:09SPEAKER_02: What's going on, big ballers?
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: Welcome back to this week's episode of The Fantasy Fumble.
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: It's your boy MJG.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: I got Joe the Birdman with me.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: Joe, how you doing today, my friend?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: I'm doing all right, MJG.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to be back.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: It was a rough first week.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Um did not do very well, but you know, I start out every season a little slow and then I come back strong.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: So I'm ready to go.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: I think the the early few weeks of the season are like where you really start filling out your team and seeing who's going to perform.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: And typically guys that perform early weeks, nine times out of ten, they don't really finish off too strong unless they're studs, you know.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: So dynamics change, plans change, and I think that uh first few weeks, if you can squeeze out a few wins, at least two wins in the first three, you're in a good shape there.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And uh, you know, it always feels good to start off with a few wins, get ahead of the competition.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: It's just not what I do, I finish strong.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: So that's what I'm that's what I'm planning to do again this year.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: All right, Joe.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: Let's go ahead and lead off the show over here with our favorite waiver wire as this week.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: What do you got for us?
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: What's your favorite wire waiver wire, Ed?
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Well, there was obviously uh you know a lot of talk around the Rams wide receiver, uh, but I think generally speaking, you know, I'm high on running backs.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm always looking for the running back to add to my team.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: So I went with Josh Kelly.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: I got him in a couple leagues.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: He was being overlooked.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: A lot of people were taking Kyron Williams over Josh Kelly, but I was glad I was able to pick him up in a couple leagues because even with Austin Eckler last week, he had nearly 100 yards.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: He had 91 rushing yards on 15 or 16 attempts, and um he had 15 fantasy points and touchdown.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: And right now, Austin Eckler is having some issues with his ankle.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: He's nursing an injury that may hold him out a couple weeks.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: You never know.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Uh, he does tend to get injured from time to time.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: And if he does go down, you know that Josh Kelly going in and he's getting 20 plus points.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's pretty.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: I don't have anything to add to that.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: What about you?
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Who are you gunning for, or or who did you actually get on your squad?
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: Uh well, my favorite free agent out of the week is uh a man that has actually been pretty solid over the last few years.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: Uh Hunter Henry.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: When he's not injured, he is a solid tight end.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: Um, I I would I would go as far as say a top 10 because tight ends go score so low.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Um, he obviously had a big week, but it's not just that that makes him popular.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: I mean, the last couple years he's been uh pretty solid, especially last year.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: He had a really good run middle of the season.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: He was producing at least like 12 to 14 fantasy points a game.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: And everybody was talking about the hype for the offseason.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Bill O'Brien is again the offensive coordinator for the Patriots.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: And if you watch that game against the Eagles, uh, they couldn't get anything going the first half, but the second half they really started taking off and made a really good comeback.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Um, so obviously Bill O'Brien is a tight end whisperer.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: I could see him doing a lot with Hunter Henry, and and Hunter Henry, if you get him in your lineup right now, he's probably outscoring half of the tight ends that went in the first 10 rounds.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: So definitely a really good sleeper to add.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I totally agree with you on that.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: And uh I did grab him in a couple leagues actually after waivers had gone through, he was just sitting there amongst all the other tight ends.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh, might as well grab him because he's right now, technically, the number one tight end.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: You know, he had the best week last week.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: And um, as you just mentioned, in previous years, he's looked really good.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: So they say they're gonna involve him more in the offense.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: They did last week, and I hope they do it again.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm not sure if I'm going to start him this week, but uh I probably will in a couple leagues.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: I have no choice but to start him.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: It's either him or Dalton Kincaid, and after that, debacle last year or last this past week with Josh Allen.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: I'm not really you know too high on any receivers this week for the Bills.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And now, big ballers, we're gonna bring you into our hot matchups of the week.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Manny, who's your first hot matchup that you'd like to talk about?
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Well, I'm gonna talk about a team that needs no introduction.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: My hometown team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: I know you guys are saying this guy is biased, but I haven't made one single player profile on the Eagles yet to show you my unbiased.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: All right, but the Eagles are playing the Vikings here.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: I think this is gonna be the high-scoring matchup of the week.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: The Eagles have three notable injuries.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: Uh, middle linebacker Nakoby Dean is out.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: They have uh second cornerback, James Bradbury is out, and our starting safety, Reed Blankenship, is out.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: These are all temporary injuries, one or two game injuries, but now you just talked about two of the starters in the secondary, and the second half of that game, the the Patriots started to cook our ass, and we were we allowed, I think, three touchdowns in the second half of passing touchdowns.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: So I could see that as a shootout.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: I mean, uh, you know, Justin Jefferson's revenge game against the Eagles, right?
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: We shut him down last year.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: He had less than like, I think, 50 yards receiving, no touchdowns, and you know, we got two interceptions off plays going to him.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: So it was uh it was a really ugly game for him.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: He talked about it being, you know, bad blood because he wants to redeem himself, but um, they do have some weapons with him, Jordan Addison, you know, and and even Madison got in some of that love last week.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: So I think that they're gonna go out.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: The Eagles are sputtering on offense last week, too.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: So they need to go out and prove that they're still one of the most elite offenses in the league.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: So you're gonna see a lot of aerial attacks because I mean, everybody knows the Vikings defense is buns, like they're gonna get cooked.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: So it's gonna be who scores the most touchdowns and who who makes that one big play at the end that's gonna stop the other team.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: So I think that's what it'll boil down to.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: What what do you think?
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Well, I I hope you're right because I got Justin Jefferson, and um, you know, you know, I'm very high on Jalen Hurts.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: I've got him in a few leagues, and uh I just enjoy watching high scoring games.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: You know, that's what fantasy football is all about.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Defense is fun, yes, but uh I hope it's a high octane offense on both sides of the field, and we get to see some fireworks.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: And uh I can't disagree with anything you said.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: I didn't realize that the Eagles held Justin Jefferson to 50 something yards last year, but um I doubt we're gonna see that again as as rock solid as the Eagles defense is.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: You just mentioned all those injuries.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: We're probably gonna see Justin Jefferson in uh his typical form.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Now, let me tell you about my first matchup again.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: I'm mentioning the 49ers.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Now, I did mention the 49ers and the Steelers last week.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: And as a Steelers fan, that game just broke my heart.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: I didn't expect to win.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: I was being realistic going into the game, but it was brutal.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: And if we see that same offense on the 49ers side of the field against the worst defense, or at least one of the worst defenses in the Rams, then it's gonna be real high scoring, and then the Rams are gonna have to play catch up.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: And if the Rams are playing catch up, they've got a handful of weapons.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: We, you know, they they're without uh Cooper Cup, but we saw um, you know, the rookie.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, I'm spacing on his name, Puka.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: What's his last name?
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Puka Nuka.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: It's like Puka.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know he's uh Samoan.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Puka Nuka.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Uh Puka.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Puka.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: We've got Puka and we've got Tutu.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: So we've got Puka and Tutu.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: They both had 119 yards, both of them.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: And those guys are probably gonna go off again.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: And, you know, there's a chance that Higby goes off.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: And we saw Kyron Williams looking mean.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: So if they're playing catch up, which I guarantee you they're going to be against the 49ers, you know, that's probably gonna be a high-scoring game.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: It's probably, I mean, the Niners might score some points on defense as well.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Um, but I'm expecting to see a lot of offense from the 49ers in the first half and a lot of catch up offense from the Rams in the second half.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: My second hot matchup, so I do have the Bills versus the Raiders.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: Um, reason being, so we saw what the Jets, you know, offense did to the Bills.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: They weren't Bills' defense was notably really great, and they started off strong in the first half, but second half, they just couldn't really get anything going.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: They couldn't stop the run, you know.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: So I think at the end of the day, Raiders are really good on the run, right?
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: So they're gonna run Josh Jacobs, you know, Devontae Adams is gonna get it all his looks, you know, Bills uh secondary wasn't looking too too strong in second half either.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: So I think that it's gonna be a shootout uh as well, maybe not as high scoring as the um, you know, the other two games we mentioned, uh, or the game I mentioned, you know.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Um, I think that'll be one of the high scoring the Eagles and the Vikings, but I think that um as far as the Raiders, there's a lot of weapons there, and their defense is also they've played okay, but they're still not a good defense.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: And uh the Bills, if they don't get anything rolling this week, they're really gonna have a long season and they might end up having to trade digs before the deadline.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Because he, if you watch that game, the end of the game, he was being comforted by Sean McDermott and on the sideline because he's so upset.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: But if you watch Josh Allen, you would be upset too.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: That guy just made the most bone-headed plays I've ever seen anybody make in their career, you know, especially that guy.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: He's not he's an NFL in it turnovers, but that was just uncharacteristic.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: Double team on the middle, like not accurate.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: Like he was just hucking the ball up a few times.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: Just I mean, it looked yeah, it wasn't even that far.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he underthrew his guys too.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: Like he underthrew and overthrew to the like outside, like it's just it wasn't characteristic.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: So I think you know, he maybe had too good of a summer with his new girlfriend, his new boo thing, and you know, digs did say it going into the whole drama and training camp was yeah, Josh Allen didn't wasn't taking the game serious, you know.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: He just survives off talent alone, and you know, we really saw that here this game.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: But do I think they get it together?
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they get a team meeting, call it, get it together, and and you know, and then they got to go out there and outscore the Raiders, and the Raiders look good on offense.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: What about you?
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: What's your matchup?
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Well, just to touch on that real quick, I think that the Bills, like you said, will definitely come back um angry with something to prove.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: And Josh Allen was in rare form.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: We're not gonna see that.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: I guarantee you we're not gonna see that again on Sunday.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: So I agree that they're gonna have a lot of offense going.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Uh, as far as the Raiders, I don't know about that, but I know the Bills are gonna have a lot of offense, that's for sure.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: Um the next game for me uh is the Chiefs and the Jags.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Um two high-powered offenses with well, you know what?
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say with a lot of weapons on both sides, but I'm pretty sure Mahomes' only weapon is Travis Kelsey.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: So hopefully he's back.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Uh but with Kelsey on the field, that offense is unstoppable.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: And then you've got the Jaguars, where they've got ATN, uh Calvin Ridley looked amazing, and then you still got Zay Jones, and hopefully Christian Kirk shows up this week.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Um, so you know, you've got a handful of receivers on the Jags, and then you've got Trevor Lawrence, who's a great quarterback, he's a mobile quarterback, and then you've got Mahomes, who's a great quarterback.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: He spreads the ball around enough that he can win games by, you know, giving a piece of the pie to every receiver on the team.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: But if he gets Kelsey back, which he will, I'm pretty Kelsey's playing, I'm pretty sure, on Sunday, then they're gonna have a lot of success, and it's gonna be a back and forth battle.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: I think that's gonna be a shootout, too.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: I think I to touch on your point, definitely um a lot of points to be scored on the Jaguar side.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: They have so many weapons, you know, so many good receivers, you know, and and it's pretty much us, I feel like that's how it's gonna be every week.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: There's gonna be one receiver out of those four guys that doesn't eat because it's Evan Ingram, you know, Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, and Zay Jones.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: You know, and this time, you know, Kirk was a odd man out.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: Who's gonna be the guy next week?
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: Because they're gonna keep spreading that ball around.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: They're gonna feed Etienne, you know, they're gonna feed even ETN and Bigsby both had a touchdown.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: So I mean it was uh it was a pretty pretty good game for them, you know.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: So I think they come back for that.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: And obviously the Chiefs, you're right.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: Who's who are they gonna throw to?
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: Maybe Kadarius Tony catches this week, maybe it's Rasheed Rice, maybe Edwards Hilaire.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: Who knows?
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: It's just uh roll of decks, or just pretty much you're you're easy.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: It's easier to hit the lotto than to figure out who they're gonna pass it to that week.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: So just pretty much sit back and enjoy the ride.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: Man, those Kadarius Tony drops are bad.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: And you know, they've been talking about him a lot.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: He has yet to impress us.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but he was on social media again after the Giants got cooked by the Cowboys, like, oh, you guys are quiet now.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: I'm like, listen, man, the problem is that you got more mouth than you got game right now.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: And if you can't you can't go out there and play, and then if your arguments you make millions of dollars more than me, yeah, but you're you know, like that's that's irrelevant to the conversation, you know.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: People do that when they have nothing else.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: That's so if he really wants to shut people up, get out there and perform, catch those balls.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: He better he should have been out there at that jugs machine right after the game, catching 200 balls straight before he could go home.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: That's what a real great player would do.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: But I don't I don't think he has that work ethic.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: You know, that's they said in New York, I don't see it, you know.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it has yet to be seen.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: If he does have that work ethic, uh then it's not showing on the field, that's for sure.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: Welcome back, big ballers.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: Uh now we're gonna talk about our cold matchups of the week.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: Uh, these are gonna be guys that we want to avoid or matchups we want to avoid at all costs, just because it's gonna be a little bit messy.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: Um this week I have I decided to pick the Bears versus the Buccaneers.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: I know if you watched the Buccaneers last week, they looked great.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: They got a win.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, they pretty much balled out everybody got a got a look on that team.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: Um, but it's just I I think that uh this is gonna be a little bit more of a defensive game, not necessarily, you know, not any offense, uh, but I think that it's probably gonna be an ugly game.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: I just don't see it being very effective.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Like uh just the Bears struggled last week offensively, like they got a couple touchdowns, but it was an ugly game.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: Uh they didn't feed DJ more.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: Justin Fields was out of rhythm.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: And uh the Buccaneers defense is tough, so I think that that's obviously gonna give them a little bit of trouble.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: And then on the flip side, the Buccaneers had a good game, but against a terrible defense.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: So they're going up against the Bears, they're middle of the pack, not really the greatest, not the worst.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: They do have a strong secondary with big DBs and safeties, so they might be able to get something there and of course uh generate something through the pass rush.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: What do you think about that, Birdman?
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm I'm glad you mentioned that because I thought about talking about that game too.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I I do have Justin Fields in a lot of leagues, and I am very high on him this year, but overall that game seems like it's gonna be a grind.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, the Buccaneers have always been tough on defense, even if their offense is lacking, they've always been tough on defense.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: And uh, you know, they they got some weapons at offense, of course, they got some decent receivers, but they're still working, you can tell they're still working on putting their offense together, putting it back together since Brady left.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: And they got a long way to go, in my opinion.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: And uh what we saw from um Chicago last week was not pretty.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: So uh I do expect them to have a better game, but I don't think it's gonna be high scoring by any measure.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Now, let me tell you about my cold call of the week, Manny.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: I'm going with the Jets and the Cowboys.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Now you've got two of the top defenses in the league squaring off, and on top of that, there's a lot of question marks with the Jets offense right now.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: So, you know, you got top five defense versus top five defense, and then Aaron Rodgers out for the season.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: I actually had someone ask me today should I start Tyler Algier or Garrett Wilson?
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: I'm like, damn, you definitely wouldn't have had that question if Aaron Rodgers was still on the field, you know?
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: So to me, there's just too many question marks on the offense for the Jets.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: And I feel like if the Cowboys get a little bit of a lead that they're gonna run the ball, and it's just gonna be a low-scoring grind.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: And and again, both of those teams have really rock solid defenses.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: So I see a lot of field goals and I don't see a lot of touchdowns.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and something to add to that for sure.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: Um, I do agree it's gonna be a uh uh a defensive powerhouse showdown.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, and obviously, with the Jets leading the league and inner in turnovers right now, they have four this past week.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Um they and they're gonna turn over Dak Prescott because we didn't get to see the typical Dak last week against the Giants.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Giants defense blitzes a lot, but they're not really good, right?
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: They got a bunch of question marks there.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: So, but now we're talking about the Jets, who are obviously proving to just dismantle Josh Allen, you know, this past week, which we discussed earlier.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: I think they're gonna keep it going.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: They're gonna keep uh but obviously they're gonna struggle on offense, like you said.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: And then uh Dallas Anthony is gonna play good defense, and then offensively, they might get a few good plays here.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: But I think overall, you know, you're gonna see some pretty good, you know, a few more turnovers from Dak Prescott.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: I don't think he's gonna really carry them to victory.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: If they want to win, they got to run it through Tony Pollard, and that's my opinion on that.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: You know, when Dak came back from that injury, he was never quite the same when he came back from the ankle injury.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: And uh, you know, he's had flashes of greatness here and there, but uh, he's not the same player that he was a couple years ago.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: We got the shit call of the week coming up right now.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: It's something that we uh called last week and it did not work out very well.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Manny, who was your shit call of the week?
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: Well, I'll I'll just start off and say my shit call of the week was thinking that last week's Thursday night game was gonna be the high-scoring game of the week.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: It wasn't.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: It was obviously the Chargers and Dolphins.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: You guys saw that that was an amazing game.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: Uh, but yeah, that's my shit call of the week.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: I thought that you know they would come out guns blazing.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: Obviously, early season, everybody's a little bit rusty.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: I was you know Kelsey, right?
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: Like uh that was obviously a little bit of a surprise, but hey, we expected it, right?
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: But uh, or like we were aware of it.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: Um, or I don't know if the news came out the the next day that he was out.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: I don't recall exactly, but I'll take I'll take ownership.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: That was a bad call, and you know they they definitely didn't come out blazing.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: I know you guys said, well, you picked another Thursday night game this week.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: I know I did, but this one's gonna deliver because it's my birds, and we don't we don't slack ass on Thursday nights, trust me.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Um what about you, Joel?
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: What's your uh shit called in?
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: You've got you got more weapons than just uh Dallas Goddard, who I'm not very high on.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: I never have been, but I'm not gonna I'm not gonna hurt your feelings about him.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: I just think he's very overrated and has been for a couple years now.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: Um just gonna stay healthy.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: You do have plenty of other weapons, and yeah, he's he's been injured a lot, but you you got two of the top wide receivers in the entire league.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it's gonna be a shootout.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: There's no question about that.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: And I have uh the call to play Justin Herbert over Tua because I felt like Herbert was gonna put up a good amount of points and was the safer play.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: Generally speaking, he might be the safer play, but I was wrong.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: He was outscored by like 12 or 15 points by Tua.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: And of course, we can't predict that, but I did advise one of our listeners to uh to play Herbert over Tua, and that was my shit call.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: And of course, we all know Tua does have the bigger ceiling, and I mentioned that too.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Tua's got a bigger ceiling, but there's a lot more risk involved.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: And I have to tell everyone that something I've I've got to get away from is putting so much stock into past injuries that are not related to the body itself, but just the concussions, because you know there's been plenty of players that have had concussions and have come back that season and just you know been an absolute force.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: When it's something like a knee injury, that's a different story, of course.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: But those two hits that Tua took made me question him all last year.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: And then week after week, Tua was putting up big numbers and I was skeptical about playing him again.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: I thought, you know what?
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: I'm still not really sure about Tua.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: And he just shoved it down my throat.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: So you know what?
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna stop talking shit on Tua.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: He's an amazing quarterback.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: If you got him, play him.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't have anything to add to that.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: I mean, at the end of the day, it you're right, it is uh more stable floor with Herbert highest feeling with uh Tua, and when he shows out, man, he really.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Goes big.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: 400 plus uh passing yards, and I think three or four touchdowns, he really went off.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: It's a pretty good game.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: It's hard to predict who he's gonna throw the ball to, but he does have two amazing weapons, uh, just like your Eagles.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: You know, two of the best receivers in the league.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: So if two is on, that team's gonna put up points, and he was on welcome back, big ballers.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Now is the moment you've all been waiting for.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: It is time for our big balls call of the week.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: And this is a doozy.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: It's our favorite segment here because you get to really show out.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: Uh, we're not gonna talk about past big ball calls because that's why they're called that.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: They're pretty much, you know, uh the hot take, the long shot, right?
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: The player that's gonna exceed expectations, right?
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: Everyone's expectations.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: And this week I got a really controversial one.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: Um so the one that I picked for my hot uh for my big balls call this week is Mr.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: Jordan Addison is gonna outperform Justin Jefferson this week against the Eagles.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: Yes, I doubled up on that Thursday night game, and you know, if I'm wrong, I'm gonna be wrong all week this week.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: Um, but I think that he's gonna so Eagles obviously are gonna have to put their best cornerback on Justin Jefferson, and although our best safety is out, you're gonna see a rookie Sidney Brown play a little bit more.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: Um, so I think that's gonna let us showcase his talent.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: And and I still think Justin Jefferson is gonna get his, but I think Jordan Addison's gonna have that, you know, that incredible day.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: Like we saw Zay Flowers have last week, just untouchable, you know, unguardable.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: Uh Eagles second cornerbacks are not gonna be good enough to keep up with him.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: And from all the tape I've seen and how he was playing last week, I mean, Jordan Addison looked great.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: Great, yeah.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: Like he absolutely I think, and so I think that's gonna end up working to his favor, and he's gonna end up having uh a better night, better and score more fantasy points than Justin Jefferson.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: That is definitely a big balls call.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: And uh, if they play Jefferson like they did last year, you might be right.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: And for my big balls call, which in my opinion isn't that far out of reach, uh, I think Jamal Williams is gonna score two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: Carolina has a good defense overall, but where they are lacking is against the run.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: So we've all seen Jamal Williams have two touchdown games.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: He had five two touchdown games last year, and he had one game where he scored three touchdowns against the Giants.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: The only caveat to this is that he was shut out.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: Well, not shut out, but shut down by Carolina last year.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: He only had seven carries for 11 yards.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: So I think he's gonna have a bounce back game and score two touchdowns this season on his new team in New Orleans.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: Well, the game's in Carolina, but on his new team, the New Orleans Saints.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a big balls call.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: That could be a good one, especially after he's been shut out.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: I wasn't aware of that stat.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: So definitely could be a revenge game for Mr.
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: Jamal Williams, aka the Hakagi.
