- 0:54Speaker 2: Elite isn't just the name.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Elite is the mission. Good evening, everyone. Welcome to the
- 1:11Speaker 1: Bet365 Guardians warm-up show tonight from Comerica Park in Detroit.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It's the Guardians and the Tigers meeting in Game 3
- 1:21Speaker 1: of this four-game series. Jim Rosenhouse along with you. We
- 1:24Speaker 1: are about a half hour prior. to tonight's first pitch.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Nicer weather night from the standpoint of no rain. We
- 1:31Speaker 1: will start on time. Much cooler, though, here in the
- 1:34Speaker 1: Motor City as the Guardians try and make it three
- 1:37Speaker 1: straight over the Tigers after last night's 4-3 win. Tanner
- 1:41Speaker 1: Bybee looking for that first win of the season. He'll
- 1:44Speaker 1: be on the hill for the Guardians. against Drew Anderson
- 1:47Speaker 1: as part of a bullpen game for Detroit. Cleveland coming in,
- 1:51Speaker 1: two games up on the White Sox atop the American
- 1:53Speaker 1: League's Central Division. The Tigers at the bottom of the division,
- 1:57Speaker 1: seven and a half games back.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Stay with us.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We'll have more to come after this. Now the set,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and again the 1-2 pitch. Swing and a miss!
- 2:19Speaker 4: Ball game!
- 2:20Speaker 1: High heat takes care of Dingler. Guardians win the first
- 2:25Speaker 1: two as Smith strikes out the side, gets a league-leading
- 2:30Speaker 1: 15th save. Welcome back to the Bet365 Guardians warm-up show.
- 2:34Speaker 1: The Guardians bullpen once again coming up big last night,
- 2:38Speaker 1: preserving a 4-3 win, and it resulted in the first
- 2:41Speaker 1: touchdown Cleveland victory in the win column for Colin Holderman,
- 2:45Speaker 1: signed in the offseason as a free agent to bolster
- 2:48Speaker 1: the bullpen, and we'll hear from him next.
- 2:53Speaker 5: Here's the Bet365 Minute, where winning is everything, with Scott Davidson.
- 2:57Speaker 6: Let's check the numbers tonight in Detroit. The Guardians, the
- 3:00Speaker 6: favorite again. They're minus $ 1.
- 3:01Speaker 3: 20.
- 3:01Speaker 6: Total is 7.5. Now, let's try to make it four
- 3:04Speaker 6: winners in a row here after another last night. And tonight,
- 3:07Speaker 6: going with the Moneyline play. I like the Athletics to
- 3:10Speaker 6: beat the Angels tonight. Now, they posted 14 runs last
- 3:13Speaker 6: night against the Angels. There's two edges here. The Athletics
- 3:16Speaker 6: now average four and a half runs a game as
- 3:18Speaker 6: opposed to four for the Angels.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Plus, the Angels give up plenty of runs.
- 3:22Speaker 6: They average 5.3 runs per game. Jack Ohanowicz has been
- 3:25Speaker 6: tagged for six earned runs in back-to-back games. That's more
- 3:28Speaker 6: than Aaron Savali has given up in his last four
- 3:30Speaker 6: starts combined. I like the A's tonight. That's my play
- 3:33Speaker 6: of the day. Now you can join me when you
- 3:35Speaker 6: download the Bet365 app. Remember, bet this or any money
- 3:38Speaker 6: line all season long. Your team ever goes up by
- 3:40Speaker 6: five runs or more, you win even if they don't.
- 3:42Speaker 6: It's the MLB Early Payout. Terms and conditions apply. That's
- 3:45Speaker 6: a Bet365 Minute.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I'm Sky Davidson.
- 3:47Speaker 7: Gambling problem?
- 3:48Speaker 1: Call 1-800-MY-RESET. 21 plus only.
- 3:50Speaker 5: Must be physically located in Ohio.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Here's the 1-2. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Holderman.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Tremendous as he strikes out a pair and sets the
- 4:07Speaker 1: side out in order.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Welcome back to Guardian's Warm-Up. We're joined by relief pitcher
- 4:12Speaker 3: Colin Holderman who's been on a real nice stretch of
- 4:15Speaker 3: of late you're stacking good performances, um, time in and
- 4:19Speaker 3: time out. And, um, what's been the key for you,
- 4:22Speaker 3: especially since your return here?
- 4:24Speaker 8: You know, honestly, it's just taking it day by day,
- 4:25Speaker 8: you know, uh, going in, you know, doing, I got
- 4:28Speaker 8: to do doing the routine, getting ready and make sure
- 4:30Speaker 8: the body's in the right spot. And then just attacking,
- 4:32Speaker 8: you know, not giving a free basis away and just
- 4:35Speaker 8: be relentless in the zone. And it's worked out in
- 4:37Speaker 8: my favor.
- 4:38Speaker 3: And you've had success before. And how, how much do
- 4:41Speaker 3: you lean on that when you're trying to get to
- 4:43Speaker 3: a good place?
- 4:44Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 4:44Speaker 8: You know, uh, It's always tough. You know, this is
- 4:47Speaker 8: the hardest game in the world, and it could be
- 4:49Speaker 8: relentless at times. But, you know, we went through a
- 4:51Speaker 8: tough one last year, but just knowing I've done it before,
- 4:54Speaker 8: and I did it for three years straight, so it's
- 4:55Speaker 8: not like it happened on accident. Just getting back to,
- 4:58Speaker 8: you know, being confident and, you know, being healthy also
- 5:02Speaker 8: helps a lot, and it's the best my body's felt.
- 5:03Speaker 8: So we're in a good spot and just keep stacking
- 5:06Speaker 8: good outing after good outing.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Change in organizations. What's helped you here to reach a
- 5:11Speaker 3: really good spot?
- 5:13Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 5:13Speaker 8: Definitely making the decision this offseason was there was a
- 5:15Speaker 8: few things I was taking, you know, into account. And
- 5:17Speaker 8: it was just, you know, the pitching department here is unbelievable.
- 5:20Speaker 8: And just the culture is amazing as well. So, you know,
- 5:23Speaker 8: when I was doing all my Zoom calls, this one
- 5:25Speaker 8: definitely stood out to me. And it was an easy
- 5:27Speaker 8: decision for me to come here. And, you know, it's
- 5:29Speaker 8: lived up to everything so far. We got into camp.
- 5:31Speaker 8: We dialed in some mechanics just a little bit to
- 5:34Speaker 8: help me, you know, stay in plane. It's been easier
- 5:36Speaker 8: to throw strikes. And, you know, just the culture has
- 5:38Speaker 8: been amazing. It's a winning culture. really just good people
- 5:42Speaker 8: throughout the clubhouse and the organization, so it's an easy
- 5:44Speaker 8: place to show up to work.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Colin Holderman's joining us, a big part of a bullpen
- 5:49Speaker 3: that's really starting to come on and find itself. You
- 5:52Speaker 3: make the clubhouse spring training, but then with the inevitable
- 5:57Speaker 3: in the bullpen, sometimes you end up in the minor
- 5:59Speaker 3: leagues for a little bit, but it seemed like you
- 6:01Speaker 3: handled that very well. At this stage of your career,
- 6:04Speaker 3: what allows you to do that where you can come
- 6:06Speaker 3: back and get good things done?
- 6:07Speaker 8: You know, it's, it's not the first time, you know,
- 6:09Speaker 8: last year I was optioned for the first time, you know,
- 6:11Speaker 8: and made it to arbitration before that happened. So I was,
- 6:13Speaker 8: you know, blessed beyond belief to do that. But, uh,
- 6:15Speaker 8: you know, last year it was a little harder for me.
- 6:17Speaker 8: It was, uh, it was, uh, you know, pretty hard mentally,
- 6:20Speaker 8: you know, how to work and, uh, you know, it
- 6:21Speaker 8: took a while to get back, but this is just
- 6:25Speaker 8: the option. You just to get some length, you know,
- 6:27Speaker 8: it was something I saw, you know, I've been around
- 6:28Speaker 8: enough and I saw the roster was made that it
- 6:30Speaker 8: was going to be me. I had options and, uh,
- 6:32Speaker 8: I just wanted to make myself as, as, you know,
- 6:35Speaker 8: of use. And I was like, I could lengthen out
- 6:37Speaker 8: if need be. So I went down there, did that,
- 6:39Speaker 8: and then came back, threw some length early and now
- 6:41Speaker 8: throwing some leverage. So I was just, you know, taking
- 6:43Speaker 8: it day by day and I knew I'd be back here.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Can you go to AAA and kind of have it
- 6:49Speaker 3: be like your major leagues in an effort to get
- 6:52Speaker 3: back in terms of how you view ballparks and opponents
- 6:56Speaker 3: and things like that?
- 6:57Speaker 11: It could definitely be hard.
- 6:58Speaker 8: You know, the atmosphere, it just isn't the same, you know,
- 7:01Speaker 8: just kind of like Every time you go out there here,
- 7:03Speaker 8: it means something. You're trying to make money, win, make
- 7:06Speaker 8: a postseason push or something. Just the adrenaline's at an
- 7:09Speaker 8: all-time high, so that's definitely something you have to adjust
- 7:11Speaker 8: to there because you're just really working on stuff and
- 7:15Speaker 8: trying to stack good outings, of course, but you're there
- 7:18Speaker 8: for a reason. Just the guys they have there is awesome,
- 7:21Speaker 8: and they want to win. Great coaching staff, great players,
- 7:24Speaker 8: so it was easy to be there and just take
- 7:26Speaker 8: it day by day.
- 7:28Speaker 11: Threw some good outings, came back, and I kept it going.
- 7:31Speaker 3: And you come back to a bullpen and have some
- 7:33Speaker 3: characters out there. What's it been like out there for
- 7:35Speaker 3: you getting to know these guys and, and see what
- 7:37Speaker 3: makes them tick?
- 7:38Speaker 8: You know, just a bunch of amazing people, you know,
- 7:40Speaker 8: in spring training, you know, got to be around them
- 7:41Speaker 8: for a little while and just see some of the
- 7:44Speaker 8: characters that that's, you know, first off amazing people, but
- 7:47Speaker 8: definitely unique people. And, uh, I think that's what makes
- 7:50Speaker 8: the bullpen good. You know, like everyone's really close, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 8: we got each other's backs and, uh, you've seen that
- 7:56Speaker 8: in the game, it translates. And, uh, And we have
- 7:58Speaker 8: fun out there during the game, so that makes it easy.
- 8:00Speaker 8: And when you go in there light, it's a lot
- 8:02Speaker 8: easier to have success.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Colin, nice going. Thanks a lot for coming by. I
- 8:05Speaker 3: appreciate it.
- 8:05Speaker 8: Thank you so much.
- 8:06Speaker 3: That is Colin Holderman, part of a rock-solid Guardian's Pen lately.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Stay tuned. More to come after this.
- 8:13Speaker 10: Wouldn't it be nice to have a reliable Medicare plan
- 8:16Speaker 10: so you can focus on all the things that matter
- 8:18Speaker 10: to you? Well, with UnitedHealthcare Medicare plans, that's exactly what
- 8:24Speaker 10: you get.

- 8:42Speaker 13: Progressive Know Sports brings people together, but you gotta feel
- 8:45Speaker 13: bad for people who don't even get it. Some people
- 8:48Speaker 13: will never know what it's like to see their favorite
- 8:50Speaker 13: team's hopes decided by a ping pong ball to draft
- 8:51Speaker 13: the next superstar.
- 8:54Speaker 5: Or not.
- 8:55Speaker 13: I mean, sure, it's silly for your happiness to hinge
- 8:57Speaker 13: on the success of a 20-year-old entry-level employee, but.
- 9:00Speaker 12: You just can't help yourself.
- 9:01Speaker 13: The stress is exhilarating. Progressive can't bring people together like
- 9:04Speaker 13: the draft, but we can bring your home and auto

- 10:04Speaker 1: That's several markdowns.
- 10:06Speaker 2: For many more miles.
- 10:10Speaker 11: Restrictions apply.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Beth 365 Guardians warm-up show. Time
- 10:27Speaker 1: to check in with WKYC, our pregame weather forecast. And
- 10:30Speaker 1: tonight it's presented by Window World.
- 10:33Speaker 15: Keep the chance for a couple isolated nuisance showers through
- 10:36Speaker 15: the evening and overnight, especially the further south you are.
- 10:38Speaker 15: Temperatures drop back into the 40s. We are drier on Thursday.
- 10:41Speaker 15: Clouds linger early on, but then we'll get more breaks
- 10:43Speaker 15: in the clouds. Low 60s inland, cooler closer to the lakeshore.
- 10:47Speaker 15: We'll keep a good breeze from the northeast. In the
- 10:49Speaker 15: 3 News Weather Center, I'm meteorologist Jessica Van Meter.
- 10:52Speaker 1: A dry but cooler night here in Detroit. Stay with us.
- 10:55Speaker 1: When we come back, Tom Hamilton visits with manager Stephen Vogt.
- 10:58Speaker 1: The Key Bank Manager Show, next. Hi again, everybody. With
- 11:16Speaker 1: Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt, this is Tom Hamilton. Welcome. It's
- 11:19Speaker 1: the Manager's Show, and it's brought to you by KeyBank.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Another white knuckler last night, and another way to find
- 11:26Speaker 1: a way to win a ball game. You've done it
- 11:28Speaker 1: in different fashions here, which is when you know your
- 11:31Speaker 1: ball club's starting to really play well.
- 11:33Speaker 16: White knuckle?
- 11:33Speaker 17: What game are you watching? You had it in the
- 11:35Speaker 17: bag the whole time. No, I'm... You know, that's what
- 11:38Speaker 17: just keeps amazing me about this group. They just find
- 11:40Speaker 17: ways to win, and we've got to keep doing it.
- 11:42Speaker 16: We can't rest or sit back.
- 11:44Speaker 17: We've got to keep pushing, and believe it or not,
- 11:47Speaker 17: we want to win by more than one run, but
- 11:49Speaker 17: we seem to have really settled into that pocket.
- 11:51Speaker 1: How about Cade Smith? He looks like he's settled into
- 11:54Speaker 1: a bona fide closer. There are nights he's got the
- 11:57Speaker 1: split going. Other nights he has the slider going. last
- 12:00Speaker 1: night it kind of looked like he went, I don't
- 12:02Speaker 1: know if they can hit this fastball.
- 12:03Speaker 16: Yeah, it was really impressive.
- 12:04Speaker 17: And I think that's what, you know, our catchers do
- 12:06Speaker 17: such a good job of recognizing what the hitters are
- 12:08Speaker 17: trying to do.
- 12:10Speaker 16: But with Cade, it's always going to come down to
- 12:12Speaker 16: that fastball.
- 12:13Speaker 17: When he's locating that fastball, he's really tough to hit.
- 12:15Speaker 1: As good as he's been, was it big for Hunter
- 12:17Speaker 1: Gattis last night to get out of that in the
- 12:19Speaker 1: eighth inning? Not that you necessarily wanted to diagram it
- 12:23Speaker 1: that way.
- 12:23Speaker 16: Yeah, I think, you know, we've seen Gatti trending in
- 12:25Speaker 16: the right direction.
- 12:26Speaker 17: You know, it Like I said, when he first came back,
- 12:28Speaker 17: he was dialed for a couple outings and then kind
- 12:30Speaker 17: of hit a little speed bump.
- 12:31Speaker 16: And that can happen when you don't have a regular
- 12:34Speaker 16: spring training buildup.
- 12:35Speaker 17: But Gaddy sure seems to be mixing in the changeup
- 12:38Speaker 17: a lot more, which is really helping. But the slider
- 12:41Speaker 17: is back to 90-91. The fastball velo is 96-97. So
- 12:45Speaker 17: really happy with the way Hunter is throwing the ball.
- 12:47Speaker 1: He may not be getting many swings and misses against
- 12:50Speaker 1: this changeup. A lot of times they've been takes because
- 12:53Speaker 1: they're out of the strike zone. But is that still
- 12:56Speaker 1: planting the seed?
- 12:57Speaker 16: Yeah, and it's such a different look.
- 12:59Speaker 17: He's a power, power pitcher with the fastball slider. And
- 13:02Speaker 17: when all of a sudden you throw a 77-mile-an-hour changeup
- 13:04Speaker 17: up there, it's kind of like, whoa, and it kind
- 13:06Speaker 17: of surprises the hitter. So it's good to give him
- 13:08Speaker 17: that look even if he's not getting swings at it.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Everything okay with Travis Pisano? He's not in the lineup.
- 13:14Speaker 16: Yeah, Travis is just fine. We're in the middle of
- 13:17Speaker 16: 13 in a row.
- 13:17Speaker 17: And again, with a lot of our younger players and
- 13:20Speaker 17: a lot of our players, playing 13 in a row,
- 13:23Speaker 17: they've never done it before. And yes, there will come
- 13:25Speaker 17: a time in Travis's career where he's playing 13, 14
- 13:28Speaker 17: in a row. But with the way he started off,
- 13:31Speaker 17: it was really hard to take his bat out of
- 13:33Speaker 17: the lineup. But at the same time, we've got to
- 13:34Speaker 17: keep him healthy.
- 13:35Speaker 16: We've got 112 games left.
- 13:37Speaker 1: He came up and played the last two games in
- 13:40Speaker 1: April and really has been a fixture now since the
- 13:42Speaker 1: beginning of May. Is it any coincidence that since he
- 13:46Speaker 1: got up here, you're not only leading the American League,
- 13:49Speaker 1: you're leading baseball from May 1st on in walks as
- 13:53Speaker 1: a team and in runs scored?
- 13:55Speaker 16: Travis has definitely added to that, but I think it's
- 13:57Speaker 16: our group as a whole.
- 13:58Speaker 17: They're just really making pitchers come into the zone. When
- 14:01Speaker 17: we can do that, we're going to have some offensive success.
- 14:04Speaker 17: I've been really pleased with the at-bat quality. How about
- 14:07Speaker 17: Steven Kwan?
- 14:08Speaker 1: He's four games out of the top spot, eight walks,
- 14:11Speaker 1: two hits in that span. Has he relaxed in your mind?
- 14:14Speaker 1: What are you seeing?
- 14:15Speaker 16: I think we're just seeing Kwan.
- 14:16Speaker 17: I think we're seeing him get back to driving the
- 14:19Speaker 17: ball in the air to right field, which is when
- 14:20Speaker 17: he's at his best, and taking walks.
- 14:24Speaker 16: He's got a lot more tasks hitting down in the order.
- 14:27Speaker 16: It's not just nobody on, nobody out, get on base.
- 14:30Speaker 16: He's driving runs in. When he did lead off last night,
- 14:33Speaker 16: he hit a double.
- 14:34Speaker 17: I mean, it's sometimes you just need a new, a
- 14:37Speaker 17: change of scenery, so to speak, and different situations than
- 14:41Speaker 17: you're used to be hitting in.
- 14:42Speaker 16: And I've been really impressed with quantities of bats.
- 14:44Speaker 1: What is the difficulty about tonight when it's a bullpen
- 14:48Speaker 1: game by Detroit?
- 14:50Speaker 17: There's a lot of difficulty. It's, you know, they can
- 14:52Speaker 17: kind of match up how they want. So we went
- 14:54Speaker 17: with a very neutral lineup. We tried to go right, left,
- 14:56Speaker 17: every other person to try and, you know, combat them
- 15:00Speaker 17: being able to run through three, four guys in a
- 15:02Speaker 17: row with the same handedness. And, but really in a
- 15:05Speaker 17: bullpen game, you have to disrupt one guy. If you
- 15:07Speaker 17: can disrupt one guy in their plan, it throws everything off.

- 15:43Speaker 1: Tanner Bybee on the mound for the Guardians. 0-6 on
- 15:47Speaker 1: the season. An earned run average of 4.15 after 10 starts.
- 15:51Speaker 1: He's been pitching well, trying to get into that win column.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And maybe the Tigers will help in that regard. He's
- 15:57Speaker 1: had good success in his career against Detroit, especially in
- 16:01Speaker 1: the postseason. Three appearances in the postseason for Bybee against
- 16:04Speaker 1: the Tigers. He's only allowed three runs. in three no
- 16:08Speaker 1: decisions over 13 and a third innings. He'll be opposed
- 16:11Speaker 1: by veteran right-hander Drew Anderson, making his first start of
- 16:15Speaker 1: the year after 15 relief outings. He's 1-1 with an
- 16:19Speaker 1: earned run average of 4.67. That's your pitching matchup. That'll

- 24:28Speaker 13: Guardians!
- 24:38Speaker 16: We are Cleveland.
- 25:08Speaker 1: From Comerica Park in downtown Detroit, Michigan, it is game
- 25:14Speaker 1: number 51. Tonight, the Cleveland Guardians and the Detroit Tigers
- 25:19Speaker 1: in game three of this four-game series. A matinee affair
- 25:23Speaker 1: tomorrow at 110 to wrap it up before Cleveland heads
- 25:28Speaker 1: to Philadelphia and Detroit will head to Baltimore. Hi again, everybody.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Tom Hamilton, Jim Rosenhaus, Albert Dale with us here in
- 25:39Speaker 1: the booth in downtown Detroit. And Brian Montse back at
- 25:44Speaker 1: Command Center in downtown Cleveland. Glad you could be a
- 25:48Speaker 1: part of this Wednesday evening affair. And what a summer
- 25:52Speaker 1: we had in Detroit. Autumn now has kicked in. Temperatures
- 25:56Speaker 1: literally 20 degrees colder than what they've been the last
- 26:01Speaker 1: couple of days here in the Motor City. But no rain.
- 26:05Speaker 1: We've got quite a bit of cloud cover. No sunshine
- 26:08Speaker 1: here that will make it tough for, in particular, the
- 26:12Speaker 1: left fielder in the early innings. And really, for the
- 26:15Speaker 1: most part, just the lightest of breezes blowing in shouldn't
- 26:19Speaker 1: be much of a factor. Cleveland's playing its best baseball
- 26:24Speaker 1: of the year, 28-22. First place in the AL Central,
- 26:29Speaker 1: up two games on the White Sox. Cleveland's won a
- 26:32Speaker 1: season-high four in a row and a season-best six games over. 500. Detroit,
- 26:39Speaker 1: they haven't been this bad in two years. Nine games
- 26:43Speaker 1: under at 20 and 29. Last place in the division,
- 26:47Speaker 1: seven and a half games in back of Cleveland. Scott Berry,
- 26:51Speaker 1: the home plate umpire. Manny Gonzalez at first. Tom Hanahan
- 26:55Speaker 1: at second. Ron Culp of the crew chiefs. at third.
- 26:58Speaker 1: The dimensions at Comerican, 342 down the left field line,
- 27:03Speaker 1: 370 to left center, 412 to dead center, 365 to
- 27:09Speaker 1: right center, 330 down the right field line. It's going
- 27:14Speaker 1: to be a bullpen game tonight for Detroit. And the
- 27:18Speaker 1: guy that hopes to give the Tigers anywhere from two
- 27:21Speaker 1: to four innings, starting it off, the right-hander, Drew Anderson,
- 27:25Speaker 1: against the switch hitting on Hill Martinez. The set, tonight's
- 27:29Speaker 1: first pitch swung on, whacked in the air to fairly
- 27:32Speaker 1: deep center, cruising toward left center to pull it down
- 27:36Speaker 1: is Matt Veerling. One pitch, one out. And we're underway
- 27:42Speaker 1: here at Comerica Park. 59 degrees, our game time temperature.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Now the batter will be the switch hitting Jose Ramirez,
- 27:59Speaker 1: batting left-handed. The pitch to him, and it's on the
- 28:02Speaker 1: inside edge, a called strike. Drew Anderson can get it
- 28:06Speaker 1: up there in the mid-90s. This year, fastball curveball slider change.
- 28:14Speaker 1: He misses with that pitch down low. And the count now, 1-1.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Jose Ramirez swinging at the best he has all year
- 28:29Speaker 1: takes a strike on a changeup, 1-2. Drew Anderson, 6'3, 205,
- 28:32Speaker 1: 32 years of age. Last four years pitching overseas. Now
- 28:35Speaker 1: the pitch. And it's waved at. Struck him out on
- 28:46Speaker 1: a changeup. Two up, two down. Riley Green's in left
- 28:51Speaker 1: tonight for the Tigers. Matt Bierling in center. Zach McKinstry
- 28:54Speaker 1: in right. Colt Keith at first. How you lead at second.
- 29:00Speaker 1: The rookie Kevin McGonigal at short. Gage Workman at third.
- 29:04Speaker 1: And Jake Rogers, the veteran catcher. Two down, no score.
- 29:08Speaker 1: The DH tonight, Chase DeLauder. And he takes a curveball
- 29:12Speaker 1: down and in. Travis Pazana is healthy, but getting the
- 29:17Speaker 1: night off. De Lauder, a fellow rookie, 0-for-8 in the series,
- 29:23Speaker 1: but two RBIs. And he bangs one in the hole
- 29:26Speaker 1: and into right field, a two-out single. That'll bring up
- 29:30Speaker 1: Reese Hoskins. If you're wondering, well, why is Travis Pazana
- 29:35Speaker 1: getting a night off? As hot as he is, well, again,
- 29:38Speaker 1: manager Steven Vogt saying, look, this is the middle of
- 29:42Speaker 1: 13 consecutive games. You never play 13 games in a
- 29:47Speaker 1: row in the minor leagues. In fact, now you get
- 29:50Speaker 1: every Monday off. There are some people that like that.
- 29:53Speaker 1: There are some people that don't. As the batter Reese Hoskins,
- 29:58Speaker 1: the pitch, a swing and a little jam job popped
- 30:01Speaker 1: up to the second baseman. How you lead in shallow right,
- 30:05Speaker 1: the second baseman retires Reese Hoskins. Now Cleveland was very
- 30:10Speaker 1: aggressive early in the count, but it didn't get them anything.
- 30:14Speaker 1: And they are scoreless in the first with the Tigers
- 30:17Speaker 1: coming to bat.

- 32:03Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN Youngstown. Tanner Bybee looking for that
- 32:16Speaker 1: elusive first win. No score bottom of the first. Colt
- 32:20Speaker 1: Keith at first tonight. Left hander batter. And the pitch
- 32:24Speaker 1: to him is high. Ball one. Tanner Bybee 6'2, 215,
- 32:29Speaker 1: 27 years of age. He has pitched a whole lot
- 32:33Speaker 1: better than his record would indicate. Now the kick and delivery,
- 32:39Speaker 1: and it's a little bit low, 2-0. Cleveland just doesn't
- 32:44Speaker 1: score runs when Tanner Bybee's on the mound. Five times
- 32:50Speaker 1: he's pitched, and Cleveland's been shut out with him on
- 32:54Speaker 1: the mound. Keith drives one foul off to the left,
- 32:57Speaker 1: 2-1 the count. Tanner Bybee getting the worst run support
- 33:02Speaker 1: in all of baseball, getting just a touch over one
- 33:07Speaker 1: run a game when he starts. Now the right-hander, third
- 33:12Speaker 1: base side of the rubber, lets it rip, and a
- 33:14Speaker 1: breaking ball fouled back in the count 2-2. Tanner Bybee,
- 33:20Speaker 1: no win, six losses, ERA 415. In ten starts, no
- 33:25Speaker 1: complete games, five innings to start, eight strikeouts, three walks
- 33:29Speaker 1: per nine innings. For Bybee, his changeup and curveball have
- 33:35Speaker 1: been unhittable. He's had more trouble with his fastballs. Now
- 33:42Speaker 1: the wind and the pitch. And it's swung on a
- 33:45Speaker 1: little looping liner to the left. Late break, diving catch
- 33:49Speaker 1: by Martinez. Martinez got a very tardy break. In left. Recovered.
- 33:56Speaker 1: And laid out to make a diving catch for out
- 33:59Speaker 1: number one. Here in inning number one. Von Hill-Martinez in left.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Stephen Kwan back in center. David Fry in right. Reese
- 34:09Speaker 1: Hoskins at first. Daniel Schneeman at second. Brian Rocio at short.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Jose Ramirez at third. Patrick Bailey behind the plate. Kevin McGonigal.
- 34:21Speaker 1: The rookie now playing shortstop tonight, left-handed hitter, 21 years
- 34:27Speaker 1: of age. The kick and pitch, and it's down and in,
- 34:30Speaker 1: ball one. McGonigal batted. 328 in April,. 213 this month.
- 34:38Speaker 1: OPS in April,. 925. This month,. 553. The league has
- 34:44Speaker 1: made an adjustment to the fine rookie. He takes, it's
- 34:48Speaker 1: a touch high, a changeup. 2-0 the count. On Bybee's
- 34:53Speaker 1: changeup this year, batters are 3 for 37 against his changeup.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Now the windup, now the 2-0. And it's in there,
- 35:05Speaker 1: a called strike on a changeup. Against his curveball, batters
- 35:11Speaker 1: are hitting 160. Fastballs, sinker, cutter, four-seamer, all being hit.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Over 300. The pitch. Swung on. Fouled back. Nothing wrong
- 35:26Speaker 1: with Tanner Bybee's fastballs, but at times it's been location command.
- 35:35Speaker 1: One out. Nobody on. Bottom of the first from downtown Detroit.
- 35:39Speaker 1: No score. An autumn-like night in the Motor City. The pitch.
- 35:45Speaker 1: A swing and a shot foul outside of first. Two
- 35:48Speaker 1: and two that count. Anthony Sanders coaching at first. Joey
- 35:53Speaker 1: Cora coaching at third for manager A.J. Hinch. Tigers in
- 35:58Speaker 1: that third base dugout. Now the windup. Now the 2-2.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Swung on. Hit high in the air to right. Coming in.
- 36:14Speaker 1: David Frey and he'll put it away. Looked like It
- 36:19Speaker 1: could have been a hanging curveball, but McGonigal got under it.
- 36:22Speaker 1: That is out number two, and that'll bring up normally
- 36:26Speaker 1: the starting catcher. Tonight, the DH and Dylan Dingler. Dingler batting.
- 36:33Speaker 16: 239.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Leads Detroit and the Homers with eight. RBIs, 28. They're
- 36:40Speaker 1: giving Spencer Torkelson the night off with a right-hander on
- 36:43Speaker 1: the hill. Two down, nobody on, no score in the first.
- 36:48Speaker 1: The pitch to Dingler, and it's in there, a called strike,
- 36:51Speaker 1: good-looking curveball. Tanner, in nine career starts against the Tigers,
- 37:01Speaker 1: four and three with a. 362 earned run average. He deals,
- 37:07Speaker 1: and it's swung on, topped foul by the third base dugout, 0-2. Hey,
- 37:14Speaker 1: when Cleveland bats in the first four innings, they score
- 37:17Speaker 1: four runs in any one of those innings. Conrad's gives
- 37:21Speaker 1: away four Bridgestone tires to Katie Anderson from Brunswick. Now
- 37:27Speaker 1: the 0-2. Outside 1-2. Conrad's Tire Express and Total Car Care.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Visit econrads.com to enter. Good luck to Katie Anderson from Brunswick. Bye-bye.
- 37:43Speaker 1: That hybrid windup. He delivers. And it's fouled back. We'll
- 37:49Speaker 1: do it again at one and two. Tanner Bybee. Earned
- 37:59Speaker 1: run average. Six runs higher on the road than it
- 38:03Speaker 1: is at progressive field. The one-two. Swing and a topper.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Third base side. Foul again. That's really bizarre. 2-10 ERA
- 38:15Speaker 1: at home, 8-15 ERA on the road. And that six-run
- 38:22Speaker 1: difference is the largest in all of baseball. No score
- 38:31Speaker 1: in this one. The pitch in the dirt to the backstop,
- 38:35Speaker 1: 2-2 the count. Tigers have really been woeful offensively here
- 38:42Speaker 1: in the month of May. Month of May, Detroit has
- 38:44Speaker 1: a record of 4-13. They're hitting 2-13 this month, scoring
- 38:51Speaker 1: only three runs a game. Now the pitch. Swung on,
- 38:57Speaker 1: lined up the middle, off the glove of Bybee. Recovers
- 39:00Speaker 1: behind the mound and throws him out. Almost looked like
- 39:03Speaker 1: it went through the webbing of Tanner Bybee's glove. He
- 39:08Speaker 1: got a glove on it, and it rolled down to
- 39:11Speaker 1: the grass behind the mound. He recovers on that BB
- 39:15Speaker 1: back up the middle off the bat of Dingler. We
- 39:17Speaker 1: are scoreless after one on the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.
- 39:25Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN, Youngstown. Daniel Schneeman takes the strike
- 39:34Speaker 1: leading off the second Drew Anderson fires and the pitch
- 39:39Speaker 1: down low check swing didn't go after the changeup Drew
- 39:43Speaker 1: Anderson is in his first year with Detroit and his
- 39:50Speaker 1: first year in the Major League since 2021. The pitch,
- 39:55Speaker 1: a swing and a pop foul down the left side
- 39:57Speaker 1: into the lower deck. One and two to count. Anderson
- 40:02Speaker 1: pitched for five years in the Major Leagues, 2017 through 2021,
- 40:07Speaker 1: with Philly, the White Sox, Texas. He only pitched 19
- 40:13Speaker 1: games in those five years, had an ERA of 6.5,
- 40:15Speaker 1: and then decided, I need to go overseas, make a
- 40:20Speaker 1: little money. The one, two. A swing and a miss.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Ran it up and in. And Schneeman out number one.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Strikeout number two. So he pitched in 2022 and 2023
- 40:35Speaker 1: in Japan. And then in 2024 and last year in
- 40:40Speaker 1: South Korea. Signed up with Detroit. And here he is.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Bullpen game and he is starting it tonight. David Fry
- 40:50Speaker 1: in right field, the pitch to him, and it's a
- 40:53Speaker 1: slider for strike one. If you missed the manager's show,
- 40:59Speaker 1: because Detroit's going with a bullpen game, manager Steven Vogt
- 41:04Speaker 1: going with pretty much a neutral lineup. The pitch, outside
- 41:09Speaker 1: a ball, one and one. At no point does he
- 41:12Speaker 1: have two right-handed hitters or two left-handed hitters back to back.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Of course, it also helps to have four switch hitters
- 41:20Speaker 1: in the lineup. David Fry,. 227 batting mark, three homers,
- 41:27Speaker 1: eight RBIs. Bounces one deep at third. Workman backed up
- 41:31Speaker 1: on it. Long throw in the dirt and a nice
- 41:34Speaker 1: scoop at first by Colt Keith. That is out number two.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Here's Stephen Kwan. Stephen Kwan, this is his fifth game
- 41:50Speaker 1: not leading off. In the four games he's played prior
- 41:55Speaker 1: to tonight, not leading off. He's been on base ten times.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Two hits, eight walks. He is getting back, his manager said,
- 42:06Speaker 1: to being Stephen Kwan. He takes a strike. Stephen Kwan
- 42:12Speaker 1: with that self-deprecating sense of humor. saying, are the pitchers
- 42:17Speaker 1: looking up the video board and looking at my batting average?
- 42:20Speaker 1: Why aren't they throwing me strikes? The pitch, up and in,
- 42:24Speaker 1: one and one. Kwon batting 204, but he has eight
- 42:29Speaker 1: more walks than strikeouts. Two down, second inning, bases empty,
- 42:35Speaker 1: we are scoreless. Now the pitch, a swing and a
- 42:38Speaker 1: little looping liner to left, slicing foul, and a one-two count. Well,
- 42:44Speaker 1: it's Memorial Night on Monday. Cleveland's at home against Washington.
- 42:49Speaker 1: That'll be a 6-10 start. New folks come and get
- 42:52Speaker 1: a City Connect plush blanket. That's courtesy of Dare Dutchman.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Tickets at CLEGuardians.com. Nice giveaway, and the way this spring
- 43:01Speaker 1: has been, you may need that blanket Monday night.
- 43:04Speaker 7: Who knows?
- 43:04Speaker 1: 90 degrees one day, 60 the next. Now the one-two.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Swung on. Line drive. Base hit toward the line and left. Well,
- 43:13Speaker 1: that is absolutely patented Stephen Kwan. When he does hit
- 43:20Speaker 1: the ball the other way and hits line drives, then
- 43:24Speaker 1: look out. When he gets in trouble is when he
- 43:27Speaker 1: hits fly balls the other way. But another good at-bat
- 43:31Speaker 1: for Stephen Kwan and a line drive single to left.
- 43:35Speaker 1: He's aboard with two downs. No score in the second.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Switch hitting Patrick Bailey. Catcher batting left-handed. The pitch. And
- 43:45Speaker 1: he pops the first pitch up. Foul ground. Playable. Third
- 43:49Speaker 1: baseman Wage Workman makes the catch. Middle of the second.
- 43:53Speaker 1: No score in Motown.
- 43:56Speaker 19: Recently, our company softball team lost the big game by
- 43:59Speaker 19: one run. Then Dale tried to console us with the quote,
- 44:02Speaker 19: winning isn't everything.
- 44:04Speaker 16: Dale's a loser.
- 44:06Speaker 11: I play to win. Like early payout from Bet365.
- 44:08Speaker 19: If my team goes up big, I get paid out instantly,
- 44:12Speaker 19: even if they blow the lead later.

- 45:53Speaker 1: Scoreless ball game as we head to the bottom of
- 45:56Speaker 1: the second inning. Tanner Bybee on the hill tonight for Cleveland.
- 46:06Speaker 1: And the man that he will face leading off the
- 46:08Speaker 1: bottom of the second, Riley Green, the left fielder, takes downstairs.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Ball one. Riley Green is now leading the American League
- 46:16Speaker 1: in the hitting. At 335, four homers, 24 RBIs. Bybee
- 46:26Speaker 1: into the motion, and the 1-0 pitch, and it's in there,
- 46:30Speaker 1: a strike. Riley Green, though, not hitting for the power
- 46:35Speaker 1: the Tigers need. 36 home runs last year, 26 two
- 46:41Speaker 1: years ago. This year, four homers, 24 RBIs. The pitch,
- 46:47Speaker 1: up and in, 2-1. Tigers are really scuffling to score runs.
- 46:53Speaker 1: And part of it is they have hit the third
- 46:56Speaker 1: fewest home runs in the American League. And they're not
- 47:00Speaker 1: a team that manufactures runs. The pitch is on the corner.
- 47:04Speaker 1: A strike evens the count. And Riley Green's challenging that
- 47:08Speaker 1: last call. First challenge of the night. And the call stands.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Tigers down to one challenge. It is indeed a strike.
- 47:25Speaker 1: So 2-2 the count on Riley Green. Bybee's ready. Here
- 47:32Speaker 1: it comes. And the left-handed hitting left fielder swings and
- 47:37Speaker 1: chases one by his chin. That's a strikeout, the first
- 47:41Speaker 1: for Bybee, one down in the second. Detroit is averaging
- 47:47Speaker 1: four runs a game, 12th in the league, 12 out
- 47:50Speaker 1: of 15. 13th in the league in homers. 13th in
- 47:55Speaker 1: the league in steals. They don't have a sack punt
- 47:58Speaker 1: this year. Cleveland has 10. So if Detroit doesn't hit
- 48:03Speaker 1: home runs, they're not scoring. Here's Matt Feerling. Center fielder
- 48:08Speaker 1: adding 2-12, 4 homers, 19 RBIs. No score in the second.
- 48:15Speaker 1: And he looks at a called strike. Good sinker. Tanner
- 48:24Speaker 1: Bybee out of Cal State Fullerton. Fifth round pick five
- 48:30Speaker 1: years ago, the pitch. And it sails high in the
- 48:34Speaker 1: count of one and one. Hey, whenever the Guardians do win,
- 48:38Speaker 1: Northeast Ohio Ford dealers donate $ 500 to Cleveland Guardians Charities
- 48:44Speaker 1: to support expanded access to youth sports in Cleveland. The pitch.
- 48:50Speaker 1: A swing and a foul back and out of play.
- 48:52Speaker 1: One and two, the count. And I know we touched
- 48:55Speaker 1: upon it last week, the passing of our beloved Bob Tayak,
- 49:01Speaker 1: who did such an incredible job as the public address
- 49:06Speaker 1: announcer at Jacobs Field and then Progressive Field. Now the
- 49:12Speaker 1: 1-2 pitch, a swing and another lazy fly to shallow right.
- 49:18Speaker 1: David Fry will retire, Matt. Bierling. Two down. Five up,
- 49:22Speaker 1: five down for Tanner Bybee. Scoreless here in the second
- 49:26Speaker 1: for Gage Workman. Left-handed hitter at third. Bob's funeral mass
- 49:33Speaker 1: was yesterday and again our thoughts and prayers if you
- 49:38Speaker 1: are the praying type To Maria, Bob's wife, the children, Bree, Doug,
- 49:45Speaker 1: their families, the grandchildren. Bob Tayak, one of the finest
- 49:50Speaker 1: people to ever walk this face of the earth. Workman
- 49:54Speaker 1: cuts and misses, pitch in on his hand, strike one.
- 49:57Speaker 1: And Maria was saying the outpouring of support that they
- 50:02Speaker 1: have gotten from the Guardians baseball fans. The 0-1 pitch
- 50:08Speaker 1: down low, changeup. She said, we were stunned how important
- 50:15Speaker 1: people felt Bob was as far as their experience at
- 50:19Speaker 1: Progressive Field. The 1-1. A swing and a miss. And
- 50:24Speaker 1: you fans certainly help in the comfort area for all
- 50:31Speaker 1: the messages that you have sent out to the family.
- 50:34Speaker 1: And thank you for that. And you have no idea
- 50:36Speaker 1: what that has meant to the Tayak family. The pitch.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Swing and a miss. High heater got him. And also
- 50:44Speaker 1: what an incredible job Kelly Dredge did who's head of
- 50:47Speaker 1: the scoreboard room for the Guardians. She was so special
- 50:53Speaker 1: in the lives of Bob and Maria Tayak and Kelly
- 50:57Speaker 1: a special person in her own right. They just want
- 51:02Speaker 1: to thank everybody. It's a very difficult time but There
- 51:09Speaker 1: were a lot of happy memories, thanks to you fans,
- 51:12Speaker 1: to Kelly, and so many other people. We'll go to
- 51:16Speaker 1: the third, scoreless in the Motor City.
