- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Oregon went to Stillwater with a 24-point favorite and got run out of the building.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: The voters dropped them 15 spots, and the biggest fall, they are the biggest fall on the board, and Oklahoma wasn't far behind after losing in Ann Arbor.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: If you had dogs this Saturday, they were great.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: 16 of the 30 covered, seven of them getting 19.5 or more points.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Also, everybody at this desk, we're all undefeated on the season.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: It hasn't been pretty, but we're all 2-0.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: This is the Mike Blitz Podcast.
- 0:58SPEAKER_03: Another fantastic job, Mr.

- 1:32SPEAKER_03: How y'all doing this fine evening?
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: I sure did.
- 1:37SPEAKER_03: I sure did.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: About about 20 minutes.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: Did you blew out a candle?
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: Ice cream cake.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: Yes, I'm in my 40s and I still eat ice cream cake.
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: I will take no hate for that.
- 1:52SPEAKER_04: Ice cream cake.
- 1:54SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: How was y'all's weekend?
- 1:56SPEAKER_03: Did y'all do anything?
- 1:58SPEAKER_03: I don't know if I saw a lot of the guys.
- 1:59SPEAKER_03: Any highlights, lowlights?
- 2:07SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah, been a while.
- 2:09SPEAKER_04: So what did I do Friday night?
- 2:12SPEAKER_04: Squirrels game?
- 2:13SPEAKER_04: Um Friday night.
- 2:16SPEAKER_04: What did I do?
- 2:17SPEAKER_04: You were at a football game.
- 2:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, squirrels game.
- 2:19SPEAKER_04: I was at the squirrels game.
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: Carmax Park here in Richmond is um is a delight.
- 2:25SPEAKER_04: You can just walk laps as long as you want to all night long, which is which is kind of fun because baseball is kind of like a little bit of a good thing.
- 2:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're in the high school football game, which is the game of the week.
- 2:33SPEAKER_04: And so yeah, squirrels game is great.
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: You went to a football game?
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: Unfortunately, lose to Trinity Titans.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: Uh it was a good game.
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: We saw, I think, five or six D1 guys, a JMU commit, a U of A, UVA commit, uh, a tight end who's getting looks from Kentucky.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: So we saw some guys, we saw some plays, saw a lot of hitting.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: They were they were hitting.
- 2:54SPEAKER_04: And that and that's kind of a yeah, nice.
- 2:57SPEAKER_04: That's kind of a homer uh game anyway.
- 3:00SPEAKER_04: Mike Benny White, uh Trinity grad here in Richmond, and that's right, myself, that's right, uh former teacher four years at the end they said that a couple times.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: They said many home games at the Herb and the big stadium.
- 3:15SPEAKER_03: It was uh good stuff.
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: The band, the the the the marching band had nine xylophones.
- 3:19SPEAKER_03: I've never seen this, I've never seen such a xylophone ratio quite like that, but I appreciate it.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: Mark, what were you saying?
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: My bad.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: Oh no, you're good.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: Um there it was hot.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Uh I was there with you at the game, and uh there was like three plays in a row in the end of the third where guys had to get like they were all cramping up, um, and the trainers had to come out and help them.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: It was a hot night, and um, but it was good football, and that's a beautiful, it has a beautiful turf field.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Um yeah.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: I was just impressed with it.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: And the LED lights were just fantastic for a high school football game.
- 3:48SPEAKER_03: So yeah, for a high school, for a local high school game, that was that was pretty, it was pretty top-notch.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: Um, and uh I was a great segue.
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: We kind of worked our way up this weekend.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: We did a high school game on Friday, Saturday, watched wall-to-wall college football all day.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: It was amazing, which we're gonna talk about.
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: Uh my son, it was my birthday this weekend, so my my son was taking my kids, my wife were all taking good care of me.
- 4:06SPEAKER_03: And my uh son was tonight.
- 4:08SPEAKER_03: I'm actually drinking a cocoa light.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: I'm holding up a coors light can if you can see cocoa light.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: My son, I was drinking uh I was drinking a cocoa coars light uh this past Saturday, and my son said, Dad, Dad, do you want another cocoa light?
- 4:19SPEAKER_03: I was like, I'm not even gonna correct.
- 4:20SPEAKER_03: I'm not even gonna correct you.
- 4:21SPEAKER_03: Yes, I will.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: We'll have another cocoa light.
- 4:23SPEAKER_03: So I'm drinking another cocoa light because it's my birthday.
- 4:25SPEAKER_03: I do whatever you want.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: Today is my actual birthday, so I think if you if if you want to have a couple cocoa lights on your birthday, I say go right ahead.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: I think that's entitled.
- 4:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, buddy.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's been great.
- 4:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, normally school nights I don't um I don't drink on Sunday nights uh by my own self-imposed rule of uh healthiness.
- 4:48SPEAKER_04: But on red skin, like when Redskins are playing, I have like one, so I did crack a um I got on Sundays before Sunday.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: What do I got here?
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: Oh, bells too hearted.
- 4:57SPEAKER_04: Classic, one of the best.
- 5:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, what if a Sunday night football?
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: You know, I got you know I'm a this this is a software.
- 5:09SPEAKER_04: Pretty flexible in the barbones rules here.
- 5:16SPEAKER_04: When there Yeah, when there's a Redskins on the Commander's on in a podcast, there's one beer.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: Uh it's not college football related, but my beloved Chicago Bears put up 59 today against Carolina.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: And I mean, we did high school Friday, college Saturday, NFL today.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: It was a great record setting.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: It was a great weekend.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: Good stuff.
- 5:37SPEAKER_03: All right, here's the agenda tonight.
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: We're gonna walk through kind of the slated games that we think are interesting.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: Of course, we'll finish up with the homers.
- 5:42SPEAKER_03: Then Darren's gonna do some quick sticks and we're gonna get you out of here.
- 5:44SPEAKER_03: We're gonna debrief what happened uh week two, uh, week two and start talking about week three.
- 5:49SPEAKER_03: I got a doozy of a matchup week three.
- 5:51SPEAKER_03: I'm already sweating thinking about LSU going to Ole Miss.
- 5:54SPEAKER_03: But that's for tomorrow.
- 5:55SPEAKER_03: That's a tomorrow problem.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: Tonight, let's talk about week two, let's talk about some wins.
- 5:58SPEAKER_03: Uh, Thursday night, we'll start at the top.
- 6:00SPEAKER_03: Uh, another video game uh type night for Miami, 77-7, hosting Famu.
- 6:05SPEAKER_03: Malachi Tony, four catches, 96 one yards, one touchdown.
- 6:09SPEAKER_03: I know the I recognize the competition.
- 6:11SPEAKER_03: He just continues to impress in every conceivable way.
- 6:14SPEAKER_03: Right now, I got Malachi Tony and Darien Mensa going to New York at this break.
- 6:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Tony's Tony is awesome to watch.
- 6:28SPEAKER_04: Um 96 yards, uh only four receptions, hard to believe, but when you look at that box score, uh it's like 22.
- 6:40SPEAKER_04: This was a 105 scholarship game.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: Everybody got to play anybody who played offense and defense for the University of Miami, third, fourth, and fifth stringers uh get in there.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: They are looking quarterback good Miami.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: I can't wait for them to play somebody.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: I can't wait for them to have to play four quarters.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Because I don't, I mean, each game has been over by halftime.
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they don't play a top 40 team until Notre Dame.
- 7:07SPEAKER_03: Maybe hit.
- 7:08SPEAKER_03: Um, they get them at home, and at Clemson could be sticky, but you know, it's funny.
- 7:12SPEAKER_03: We were kind of hyping up, we're all we're all kind of poo-pooing Notre Dame schedule because it's so easy.
- 7:15SPEAKER_03: Miami, the way the the way they are looking so dominant, it might be a one-game season for them too.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: We might be talking about undefeated Miami rolling to that game, both teams, 12-0, 11-1 type squads.
- 7:26SPEAKER_03: Uh, big years for both the Irish and the Canes.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: Uh, Friday, uh Kazur, uh, Kazur.
- 7:33SPEAKER_03: I said Kazuri.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: Kansas, Missouri, those teams hate each other.
- 7:37SPEAKER_03: I'm sure you guys caught the John Brown hype video.
- 7:40SPEAKER_03: That was just absolutely wild.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: Uh, really tough.
- 7:43SPEAKER_03: Uh, so Kansas PR Kansas uh social media team won the social media battle.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: Unfortunately, Missouri absolutely dominated the battle.
- 7:52SPEAKER_03: And I'll be honest with you, the way that game ended, I kind of think it was personal for the Tigers.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: I kind of think they wanted to rub their nose in it.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: Uh, they were getting after him back all day.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: Austin Simmons looks better, and I think we all undersold their defense a little bit.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: Missouri might be better than I thought.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: I was ready to kind of wash them off after week one.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: I think that was a little premature.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: Anything on the Kansas on the Missouri, Kansas social media football or otherwise.
- 8:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this this kind of answers that question of preseason.
- 8:24SPEAKER_04: Why were they ranked 25?
- 8:27SPEAKER_04: Well, we just found out.
- 8:28SPEAKER_04: They got a defense for real.
- 8:30SPEAKER_04: Um, they made they made Kansas's new quarterback kit, you know, like he had a lot of athletic potential.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: They just made him look uh silly.
- 8:39SPEAKER_04: And so, yeah, defense showed up.
- 8:41SPEAKER_04: Austin seven the best player.
- 8:43SPEAKER_04: I mean, they're gonna monitor somebody this year.
- 8:45SPEAKER_03: They might get him back at some point.
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: He isn't recovering from the uh gunshot wound, which is obviously tragic.
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: Hopefully he gets back, but it sounds like he is exercising.
- 8:52SPEAKER_03: I think he's in the building, so just another weapon.
- 8:54SPEAKER_03: I mean, you're talking about potentially first round running back adding him in week seven or something.
- 9:00SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 9:00SPEAKER_03: Just I'm not paying much attention to Missouri, but I I got my eye on him.
- 9:04SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm I'm a little something for y'all.
- 9:05SPEAKER_03: A little something for y'all.
- 9:06SPEAKER_03: Mark, you got anything on that one?
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: Man, they lost some money on that one.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Uh, after that Kansas hype video, I was all in on Kansas.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Um, and I should have known.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: I don't like their basketball team.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Why would I root for their football team?
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: So classic.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, all right.
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: Uh what are you gonna do?
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: Uh the Ruckers thing with Friday night, last one.
- 9:24SPEAKER_03: Ruckers disaster continues, they lose 28-21.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: Uh, I'll tell you right now, take a peek at Rucker's schedule when you're bored if you want a good laugh.
- 9:31SPEAKER_03: If they didn't have Howard on their schedule, Ofer.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: Ofer.
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: They're gonna go 1-11 this season.
- 9:37SPEAKER_03: They are so non-competitive.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: KJ Duff is it's so bizarre.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: Okay, this is this is the situation like when you play the Madden uh the college football video game where you like create a player and you pick like the worst team you can and you insert him.
- 9:50SPEAKER_03: KJ Duff, uh, eight catches, 137 yards, two touchdowns, going to the NFL.
- 9:55SPEAKER_03: If he has eligibility left, he's not playing at Ruckers next year.
- 9:58SPEAKER_03: I can tell you that right now.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: He's going to the SEC Big Ten.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: He is awesome, uh, but it's still not enough.
- 10:04SPEAKER_03: This was the um the red bandana game.
- 10:06SPEAKER_03: Those are familiar with that, uh, about Wells Crowther, the firefighter who died tragically in the 9-11 when the towers uh towers were attacked.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: He saved 18 people before, unfortunately, he lost his life.
- 10:16SPEAKER_03: Uh, they honored him with cool uniforms, the red bandana, everyone's nameplate said four Wells.
- 10:22SPEAKER_03: It's a really, really awesome site uh on Chestnut Hill.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: So that's all that ruled.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: Um and Boston College got a W.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: So good for good for him.
- 10:30SPEAKER_03: Anything on uh Rutgers, Red Bandana, KJ Duff.
- 10:39SPEAKER_04: O'Brien, you know, don't don't discount a really quality coach like that.
- 10:44SPEAKER_04: And then he he's had his ups and downs, but when you got when you got red bandana night, when you got an NFL head coach at the helm.
- 10:52SPEAKER_04: All right, let's jump to Saturday.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: You gotta start with the headliner, obviously.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: Texas with just an incredible comeback.
- 10:59SPEAKER_03: Texas wins, beats Ohio State 24-23.
- 11:02SPEAKER_03: The score was what?
- 11:03SPEAKER_03: Uh 23-3 going to the fourth quarter.
- 11:05SPEAKER_03: Uh Texas gets 21 uninsured points.
- 11:08SPEAKER_03: Um uh I I don't know what to say.
- 11:12SPEAKER_03: Uh Archman only had 195 yards.
- 11:15SPEAKER_03: His longest pass was uh 22 yards.
- 11:17SPEAKER_03: Uh Jeremiah Smith is an absolute animal, eight for 164 and a touchdown.
- 11:21SPEAKER_03: Both these are really good.
- 11:23SPEAKER_03: Uh my main takeaway just from like watching the game live and kind of thinking about it, I think Ohio State blew it.
- 11:28SPEAKER_03: Uh they're a good enough team.
- 11:30SPEAKER_03: These teams are both so good and so kind of even.
- 11:32SPEAKER_03: If one has a 20-point advantage with one quarter to go, they should never lose.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: And I don't know if that's Arthur Smith just sitting on them with the bad, really bland play calling.
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: Obviously, the missed kick helped a lot.
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: Give me your uh Texas Ohio State takes.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Dude, I was um I kind of liked what I thought of Archie Manning towards the end.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, I yeah, I didn't expect Texas to even have a chance in the game.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: There was like so many missed passes early in the game.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: They had some turnovers early, and honestly, I thought it was over, and I had switched over to Iowa, Iowa State, and I wasn't even giving it a chance.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: And then I looked over at the score and I was like, oh dang, I uh maybe I should go back to this game and finish it up.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: And man, hey, way to go, Archie.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: Like, I think we've all I've talked trash about him just because I think he's a Nepo baby.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: Um, but hey, he really showed up there, man.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: It took down Ohio State.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: Jeremiah Smith was so good, so good for Ohio State.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: I mean, he definitely said it wouldn't matter, but he was kind of bad for three quarters.
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: He missed some guys, he sailed some throws.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: He's still not, I mean, like, obviously, you can see what they're talking about.
- 12:37SPEAKER_03: You can see the five-star potential, you can see the NFL potential, but he's not that consistent yet.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: I'm not I'm kind of waiting for him to figure that out.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: I still think he needs another year and a half in school before he's ready for the NFL.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm I'm I'm starting to, I mean, it's funny.
- 12:50SPEAKER_03: We're talking about this like the this is like the greatest draft ever, and they're already talking about like the Dolphins taking Archmain number one.
- 12:55SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm I'm wondering if there's a reason if he's not gonna be there.
- 12:58SPEAKER_03: I bet you he's gonna get well paid by Texas.
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: I wouldn't be surprised he comes back for 2028 and then goes.
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: But he's an E may be good for him.
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:09SPEAKER_04: It's uh here's a here's a good question, I think.
- 13:12SPEAKER_04: Uh what do you think about Ohio State?
- 13:14SPEAKER_04: Do they uh are we down on them?
- 13:17SPEAKER_04: Are we up on them?
- 13:18SPEAKER_04: I can see what one side of the coin is like now's now is the worst of their year, and they're gonna come back and blast everybody the rest of the year.
- 13:27SPEAKER_04: But they do have that middle of the year at Indiana at USC.
- 13:31SPEAKER_04: Oregon, apparently, not much, like the Oregon's after that.
- 13:34SPEAKER_04: But at Indiana at USC is now like the time to buy in on that much.
- 13:39SPEAKER_04: I mean, Ohio State to you know make a password.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: Their offensive tackles are absolutely gettable.
- 13:43SPEAKER_03: Their offensive line is not the superstar unit that it was.
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: The defense isn't that deep.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: Those guys were gassed.
- 13:49SPEAKER_03: I don't blame them.
- 13:50SPEAKER_03: They're playing in 97 degrees.
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: You could tell in those last a big piece of that fourth quarter comeback was just straight up fatigue.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: They were gassed.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: Like they were, they need they needed more rest and more depth, and they simply uh didn't have it.
- 14:01SPEAKER_03: Um what concerns me for Ohio State, the biggest thing that concerns me though is like Jeremiah Smith is amazing.
- 14:08SPEAKER_03: What is your second act?
- 14:10SPEAKER_03: Like, if he goes down, if he they what if they miss him for a month?
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: What if he like pulls a quad or something?
- 14:15SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's he is in that part of his career now where he knows he's going to be a professional in about three months.
- 14:22SPEAKER_03: He's three months from from launching his professional career.
- 14:25SPEAKER_03: What um what does Ohio State do without him if they miss him for a while?
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: I'm I that's my concern.
- 14:31SPEAKER_03: Um I'm still high on them, but they're not a perfect team either.
- 14:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think um I think they're I don't know, it's a it's a real coin flip.
- 14:48SPEAKER_04: Are they gonna go undefeated the rest of the year?
- 14:50SPEAKER_04: Because I've seen that the last couple years, they're just a you know a force of nature, and they had a a couple dice rolls in the third and fourth quarter, and they all came up Texas.
- 15:02SPEAKER_04: So the next time that happens, um, they might just blast everybody off and go straight for the street.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: I think if you pass in Ohio in November, it's a much different story.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: But you were saying they were getting gas.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: The Texas heat was hot, Ohio State was fading.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, you play that game in the cold weather, and I think Ohio State holds that win.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: And that's where that's what I'm I'm not losing any admiration for the team.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: I kicked Michigan out the window after after the loss or the fake loss to Western Michigan.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: I'm not doing that for Ohio State yet.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: I think they're still gonna be a pretty they're still a top five team in my book.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: Michigan is still on my uh they're still on the ledge of me getting the butt yeah, obviously nice when we'll talk about that in a second.
- 15:43SPEAKER_03: Uh fun fact, Aaron, and you might know this, Ohio State has lost three of their last four football games.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: Uh their only win being ball state.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: They lost to Miami in uh the uh quarterfinals, they lost to Indiana in the Big Ten championship.
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: They won ball state opener and they've lost.
- 15:59SPEAKER_03: So they've lost three or four.
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: So if you're gonna buy low, now's the time.
- 16:03SPEAKER_03: I think now that going back to my original take, now's the time.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: Not everybody can play that you catch.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: Not everybody can play Florida AM every Thursday night.
- 16:12SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: That's absolutely right.
- 16:14SPEAKER_03: That's absolutely right.
- 16:14SPEAKER_03: Anything else on Texas, Ohio State?
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: Yo.
- 16:20SPEAKER_03: We're gonna be talking about both those goals for a while.
- 16:22SPEAKER_03: No, we'll see them again.
- 16:23SPEAKER_03: They'll play each other in December.
- 16:25SPEAKER_03: Goes to Oklahoma State to Boone Pickett Stadium in Stillwater and loses 31 to 39.
- 16:31SPEAKER_03: Man, my uh punter go for it.
- 16:33SPEAKER_03: I'm feeling real good about my Oklahoma State takes, getting those back.
- 16:37SPEAKER_03: We'll circle back to that a little later.
- 16:38SPEAKER_03: But I want to talk about really quick uh Oklahoma State team, 40 rushes for 237 yards, 5.9 yards per carry.
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: That is insane.
- 16:48SPEAKER_03: Oklahoma State was running all over Oregon.
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: Obviously, Oregon, Oklahoma State, great win.
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: They got together.
- 16:57SPEAKER_03: What we saw in Tulsa wasn't the story.
- 16:58SPEAKER_03: Eric Morris has those guys firing.
- 17:01SPEAKER_03: We saw one of the best versions of Drew Messmaker.
- 17:03SPEAKER_03: I want to give them their credit, but to me, this is more about what is wrong with Oregon.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: And I have really have no idea the coordinators, like I have no idea.
- 17:11SPEAKER_03: What do you got?
- 17:15SPEAKER_03: Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, yeah.
- 17:17SPEAKER_04: Have you seen um have you seen Beetlejuice?
- 17:19SPEAKER_04: You know Beetlejuice, the movie?
- 17:22SPEAKER_04: Right, and if you say the name enough, Michael, in the last three weeks, you have said Mesta Maker enough times to make him show up and beat the Oregon Ducks.
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: You did the Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, you did the Mestermaker, Mestimaker, MestiMaker.
- 17:37SPEAKER_04: So your preseason hot take, you know, your your love and your you know, hype up to the city.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: You did a really nice job of calling out Oklahoma State.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: We watched the game against Tulsa together.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: You still had love for Mastermaker while we were watching it, and I'm like, dude, what are you this isn't North Texas anymore?
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: That's over.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: And they came out.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Now, Oregon, yes, I think Oregon shot themselves in the foot, but dang, man, I had no faith in Oklahoma State.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: And if I would bet more than 10 bucks a game, I would have waited thrown way more money on Oregon.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: But luckily, I only put only lost 10.
- 18:15SPEAKER_04: Well, a little spoiler here, our um quick six is it turns out that all three of us and the Discord, we're this was the only unanimous yes from the quick six last week.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: Was that Oregon covers the 14 points at halftime?
- 18:29SPEAKER_04: It's the only unanimous one.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: It's the only unanimous one that nobody and we were all just just drowned.
- 18:36SPEAKER_04: That was a chance to zip.
- 18:37SPEAKER_03: Nobody took it.
- 18:39SPEAKER_03: Somebody should have seen the opportunity to make up some grounds and do it.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: Never buying a Nike product again.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: I wanted to find somebody to blame.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: I wanted to find somebody to blame for this loss.
- 18:53SPEAKER_04: And I, you know, I first went to like, okay, so they lost Will Stein.
- 18:57SPEAKER_04: Will Stein's in Kentucky head coach.
- 18:59SPEAKER_04: They got a new uh offensive coordinator who's you know promoted from within.
- 19:03SPEAKER_04: So this guy's named Drew, and he's you know a young.
- 19:06SPEAKER_04: So I wanted to I wanted to blame him for this loss.
- 19:10SPEAKER_04: Um, but the defense gave up 39 points as well.
- 19:13SPEAKER_04: The rushing, like you said, the Oklahoma State 237 yards rushing.
- 19:18SPEAKER_04: My gosh, I thought yeah, I thought this Oregon team had the D, had the O, had the quarterback, had the coach.
- 19:25SPEAKER_04: But this this was a team effort, boys.
- 19:28SPEAKER_04: Good job, Duff.
- 19:29SPEAKER_04: Every single one of you on all levels.
- 19:32SPEAKER_03: I don't know what I don't know what the problem is.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: I Dante Moore was okay, not great.
- 19:37SPEAKER_03: Um, it doesn't seem like a the it doesn't seem like the defensive line, which I mean obviously, oh which I mean the Oklahoma State offensive line was overwhelmed by the Tulsa front.
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: And now we've got the Oregon front with multiple first rounders on it.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: They couldn't, they couldn't really disrupt him very much.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: So uh just just shocking, shocking.
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: You know, uh I wanna I want to say really quickly about our our our parlay, the mic, the the Mike Blitz parlay, eight legs, went five and three.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: Uh the Alabama one, I got wrong.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: I think I have Saban derangement syndrome.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: I gotta stop betting against Alabama.
- 20:07SPEAKER_03: Hand up, that one's on me.
- 20:08SPEAKER_03: Uh the LSU one, that was the right read.
- 20:10SPEAKER_03: That was a there was a 97-yard pick six and four interceptions.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: We still we we won by 31, not 35 and a half.
- 20:18SPEAKER_03: Uh I I feel like that was the right read.
- 20:21SPEAKER_03: We got five right.
- 20:22SPEAKER_03: It's the Oregon one.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: The Oregon one is the inexplicable what I I I got nothing.
- 20:27SPEAKER_03: I I I couldn't, I don't I mean, we could you could say looking back, okay, maybe the Boise game, because the they struggled so much with to beat Boise, that maybe that was like the that was the canary in the coal mine.
- 20:38SPEAKER_03: But Boise's objectively good.
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: We just saw what Boise did to Memphis, which we're gonna talk about in a minute.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: So I don't think that's actually it at all.
- 20:44SPEAKER_03: Like this was inexplicable in every sense of the word, it's why college football is the greatest board ever.
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: What do you got?
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: Anything?
- 20:54SPEAKER_04: You know, last year we were talking about Clemson in this way, um, and they ended up, like you said, ton of draft picks.
- 21:01SPEAKER_04: Uh including our boy Antonio Williams playing for the Commanders, who had a great day for the Commanders rookie go uh Hale Commanders.
- 21:10SPEAKER_04: Uh, but yeah, he came out of Clemson, and last year at this time, it's like, what is all this talent doing?
- 21:16SPEAKER_04: Just wasting away.
- 21:17SPEAKER_04: And so now Oregon.
- 21:19SPEAKER_04: I mean, these coordinators got that monkey on their back.
- 21:24SPEAKER_03: It is the season of the coordinator.
- 21:26SPEAKER_03: If you don't have a good guy calling your offense and calling your defense, it might be worth a lot.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: Because literally, I am I am grasping at straws is why that Oregon lost that game.
- 21:35SPEAKER_03: In the way they did, it wasn't a fluke.
- 21:37SPEAKER_03: Like Oklahoma State beat them, like it was a beating.
- 21:40SPEAKER_03: So I know the score was kind of close, but if you watched that game with no uniforms, you would say, Oh, that team absolutely outplayed that one.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: And it wasn't the team with 17 draft picks on it.
- 21:51SPEAKER_03: So anything on Oklahoma State Oregon before we move on?
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: I think a ton of America lost money on that game over the weekend.
- 21:58unknown: Yeah.
- 21:59SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 22:01SPEAKER_03: Ultimate Zach.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: You are the one that's been talking about the biggest thing.
- 22:06SPEAKER_04: This is why the lights shine bright in Las Vegas.
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: But I also said they were going to lose.
- 22:12SPEAKER_03: I said they were going to get blues badly and then and then make a run the Big 12.
- 22:17SPEAKER_03: It just they they like my advice.
- 22:18SPEAKER_03: They took it a week sooner.
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: Good for the Pokes.
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: I appreciate that.
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: You know, I would be surprised.
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: And honestly, I I I hate to I'm going to say he who shall not be named, uh, Mr.
- 22:27SPEAKER_03: Mastermaker.
- 22:28SPEAKER_03: I think he's going to win the Big 12 MVP.
- 22:29SPEAKER_03: I mean, I really think he's that good.
- 22:31SPEAKER_03: So we'll uh we'll just see how that unfolds.
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: Moving on.
- 22:34SPEAKER_03: Uh North Dakota State uh took down Air Force.
- 22:37SPEAKER_03: Um, this game opened up with a nasty targeting and an ejection.
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: Uh, I don't know if you guys caught that.
- 22:42SPEAKER_03: Uh Nathan Hayes, the quarterback for North Dakota State, he's a straight up good, had a nice little day for himself.
- 22:47SPEAKER_03: I did 15 for 23 for 228 and two tutties.
- 22:50SPEAKER_03: Um, I love the Air Force uniforms.
- 22:53SPEAKER_03: The blue looks so good.
- 22:54SPEAKER_03: Those helmets are awesome.
- 22:56SPEAKER_03: Uh, they kind of let them come back at the end.
- 22:58SPEAKER_03: Uh, they it was uh it was they were up by a lot, gave up 19 points in the fourth quarter.
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: So Air Force, the score was close, but the game, the game was over, they made it close, the six-point game.
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: Um they almost got two Air Force almost got two onside kicks.
- 23:12SPEAKER_03: They were really close to recovering both of them.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: So, you know, there is a there is a world where this game gets away from them, but in generally speaking, and I'm gonna stop babbling and get to my point.
- 23:22SPEAKER_03: North Dakota State is really good.
- 23:24SPEAKER_03: Uh outside of Boise, I think they are I think there is a big gap between Boise, North Dakota State, and then everybody else in the G6.
- 23:32SPEAKER_03: Uh I really like what I see about them.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: I think they're gonna I think they're on a just on a collision course.
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: Uh it's gonna be great.
- 23:38SPEAKER_03: Anything on North Cota State, Boise.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: This is kind of how Boise State came into our and into focus 15 years ago or whatever it was.
- 23:52SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, it's just like they won a big game, and then oh look, they won two, three, and they put a season together.
- 23:58SPEAKER_04: And North Dakota State's doing that right in front of her face.
- 24:01SPEAKER_04: And uh yeah, watching the watching the highlights, the replays, they've got size, strength, they've got it all.
- 24:47SPEAKER_04: They've got um play calling as creative, and they're just gonna need to finish games against Bells.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: You can't let teams like that back in.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: Look with Ohio State.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: When you've got a chance to finish them, you have to finish them.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: Um a Boise State may have come back and won that game, but North Doctor State looks great.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: And uh, if they can learn how to finish people off early, man, you're right.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: They are the top two of the uh G6.
- 25:13SPEAKER_03: They've got a couple tricky spots at UNLV.
- 25:15SPEAKER_03: I think in Vegas that game will be tricky.
- 25:17SPEAKER_03: Um, at Hawaii gang on a plane, at New Mexico, at San Jose State.
- 25:21SPEAKER_03: San Jose State's one of the better um teams in the Mountain West.
- 25:26SPEAKER_03: So they had so they're not they're not free and clear yet, but I'm I'm thinking real hard about a North Dakota State going 12-0 this year and giving the committee with probably what an 11-1 boise a lot to think about.
- 25:37SPEAKER_03: A lot to think about.
- 25:38SPEAKER_03: So we shall see.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: One of our best videos we've had on the YouTube was a North Dakota State one.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: So maybe that's what we need to do is ask the audience right now, tell us about North Dakota State.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: What do we need to know?
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: Like, we think they're gonna go 12 and oh.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: We invite you in the comments to tell us about it when we post this on YouTube.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: What's going on, Fargo?
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: Tell us about your team.
- 25:59SPEAKER_03: You know, they they were an FCS team for a long time, one of the most dominant ones, but they are now all as an FBS team, as a team that they're gonna that I think is gonna have a really good shot at college for playoff, they are all over my radar.
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: So educate us, North Dakota State fans.
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: Get up in a get up in our menchis, tell us what we need to know about Dim Bison.
- 26:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: And it and it wasn't close.
- 26:19SPEAKER_04: The fourth quarter was just garbage time.
- 26:21SPEAKER_04: Going into the fourth quarter is 35-13.
- 26:24SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, they just owned it.
- 26:26SPEAKER_04: Um, another one where I thought this is the team that's gonna get themselves checked back to earth this week against uh you know, on the road against a real team.
- 26:39SPEAKER_01: It looked a lot closer than what the score actually showed.
- 26:44SPEAKER_03: Tully agree.
- 26:44SPEAKER_03: Totally agree.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: Uh good luck, good work by moving on.
- 26:48SPEAKER_03: Arizona State, uh, 20 points at Texas AM, 48.
- 26:52SPEAKER_03: This game was close.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: The final score, and they lost it by 28.
- 26:55SPEAKER_03: It was a four-point game.
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: It was 20 to it was 20 to 24 when the fourth quarter started.
- 27:01SPEAKER_03: I think Arizona State is pretty good.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: I think the whole Big 12 is a lot higher.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: We're gonna talk about Texas Tech.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: I think that is that I think that gap is getting smaller and smaller.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: That meaty middle of the Big 12 is good.
- 27:12SPEAKER_03: Uh I really liked um what I saw out of uh kind of Cutterbowley, 21 for 34, 252, and a touchdown.
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: Reed Harris is a stud.
- 27:21SPEAKER_03: Nine catches, 189, two touchdowns.
- 27:24SPEAKER_03: He was a player.
- 27:25SPEAKER_03: Um uh Texas AM I actually got a lot of turnover luck.
- 27:28SPEAKER_03: They had two pick sixes, I believe.
- 27:30SPEAKER_03: Umly 2.6 yards yards per carry rushing.
- 27:34SPEAKER_03: I don't love that.
- 27:35SPEAKER_03: That's not that's not that's not doing that's not doing a lot for me.
- 27:37SPEAKER_03: Um any any Arizona State AM takes?
- 27:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:47SPEAKER_04: No, AM remains really difficult to figure out.
- 27:51SPEAKER_04: Not that.
- 27:51SPEAKER_04: Are they a top 10 team or are they a number 40 team, right?
- 27:55SPEAKER_04: Like somewhere in between there.
- 27:57SPEAKER_04: What will they prove to be?
- 27:59SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, it's it's tough.
- 28:02SPEAKER_04: Like you said, it was a close game going to the fourth.
- 28:05SPEAKER_04: Uh a good team, a good SEC worthy uh top 15 team knows how to own the fourth quarter and physically dominate.
- 28:14SPEAKER_04: They've got the endurance, the strength, and all that stuff.
- 28:17SPEAKER_04: And so they do.
- 28:18SPEAKER_04: And they're ranked 10th for it.
- 28:20SPEAKER_03: But you know, I recognize that two pick six is warp their warp those stats a little bit, but only 260 yards of total offense.
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: 260 yards against total offense is not gonna cut it against anybody good.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: So I'm thinking AM, I've got my eye on you.
- 28:36SPEAKER_03: I'm looking at you a little sideways, too.
- 28:37SPEAKER_03: We're gonna play LSU.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: LSU's gonna play them at home in about 13 days, so we'll we'll get a crack at them there.
- 28:44SPEAKER_03: So we'll see.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: We're gonna have to do that.
- 28:45SPEAKER_03: Mark, anything on AM Arizona State?
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, I was a silent game in the quad box, so I was just I was just watching for points because we went the over.
- 28:54SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 28:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and we hit that.
- 28:55SPEAKER_03: That was one of our better.
- 28:56SPEAKER_03: We were all over that one.
- 28:57SPEAKER_03: Good work.
- 28:58SPEAKER_03: We we talked through that together.
- 28:59SPEAKER_03: I'm glad I was, you know, I was all on plus plus 14 and a half.
- 29:02SPEAKER_03: Darren talked me out of that, but we talked ourselves into the over, and that was a great call.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: Another great call.
- 29:08SPEAKER_03: Oklahoma 10, Michigan 17.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: Couldn't agree on the outcome, but we did agree on the under when it went way under uh 17 to 10.
- 29:17SPEAKER_03: Um, I have some I have thoughts.
- 29:19SPEAKER_03: Um both quarterbacks are bad, is where I've is my is my lead-in thought.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: I love Rocky Beers.
- 29:24SPEAKER_03: I love JJ Buchanan.
- 29:26SPEAKER_03: Uh, I have no idea what Oklahoma is doing on offense, other than like give Mathieu the ball, let him kind of figure some stuff out on the fly.
- 29:34SPEAKER_03: Uh I I I did that I did like what they did, what Michigan did with um Underwood.
- 29:39SPEAKER_03: He rushed the ball 18 times.
- 29:40SPEAKER_03: He's a leading rusher in the game, 87 yards and touchdown.
- 29:43SPEAKER_03: You know, much like that's what the offensive coordinator, Jason Beck, he came from Utah, that's what they were doing with Devin Dampierre last year.
- 29:49SPEAKER_03: I think the offense is gonna be look more and more like that.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: Um he's still not a good thrower, and obviously against Oklahoma, he's really not gonna be a good thrower.
- 29:58SPEAKER_03: But I if he can if he he's a big strong kid, do you just he's just your quarterback who you run 15 times a game?
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: Is that the is that the Michigan offense?
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: And then you just smother people with that crazy good defense?
- 30:09SPEAKER_03: Give me your Michigan, Oklahoma takes.
- 30:18SPEAKER_04: Michigan 17 pass attempts, 41 rushes.
- 30:22SPEAKER_04: And so if if they can put that game plan into effect, then they're a dangerous team.
- 30:28SPEAKER_04: Uh Bryce Underwood, 18 of those 41 carries was Bryce Underwood.
- 30:34SPEAKER_04: So by design, or you know, take out a few uh scrambles and sacks and stuff, but yeah, that's how you gotta use him, just like we said last week, like a cam rising.
- 30:45SPEAKER_04: You're gonna be our our workhorse, and you're gonna get in there and sacrifice sacrifice your body, bud, because we got uh Mr.
- 30:53SPEAKER_04: Carr as a number two ready to step in if you get hurt.
- 30:57SPEAKER_03: Nine.
- 30:57SPEAKER_04: But in the meantime, you run your ball.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: What do you think, Mark?
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, uh yeah, what I was impressed with was his arm strength.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: I don't think he knows where the ball's going, but he can chuck the ball.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: Um if he can get to a point, and I think more games, he you know, I think last week we talked about whether they're gonna bench him coming up.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: Um, I think this game really kind of solidified his role.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: Yes, they won.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: Um, but if he can actually like figure out how, like, if he can get a little bit more accurate, I can see why he's a five-star when he started in Michigan in his sophomore year.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: Um, the kid just needs he just needs more time.
- 31:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he has weapons.
- 31:34SPEAKER_03: Andrew Marshall is awesome.
- 31:35SPEAKER_03: JJ Buchanan is awesome.
- 31:37SPEAKER_03: I even like Jamie French, the former five-star from Texas.
- 31:40SPEAKER_03: Like, they've got, and then Jordan, I mean, Jordan Marshall and Savion Heider probably arguably two two one of the best running back duos in the country.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: Like, he's got weapons.
- 31:48SPEAKER_03: I mean, it might just be like that.
- 31:50SPEAKER_03: You're gonna scramble a bunch, you're gonna get a lot of keepers, and you're gonna get those guys balls in space.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: Like, maybe it's not gonna be a spread the ball out, you know, throwing the throw in a whole lot.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: Uh, but I don't, I it's still not clear to me.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: And obviously that defense just play smothering defense.
- 32:06SPEAKER_03: In two weeks, they're gonna play play Iowa.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: That's gonna be the rockiest rock fight that ever rock fighted.
- 32:11SPEAKER_03: At the under now.
- 32:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's gonna be a Service Academy game.
- 32:14SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be 30.
- 32:15SPEAKER_03: Over under is gonna be set at 34.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: Watch.
- 32:23SPEAKER_04: Not betting the under on Michigan and Iowa, both, by the way, is like I get a feeling in my gut on Saturday morning like I left the oven on.
- 32:31SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, oh, wait a second.
- 32:32SPEAKER_04: Hold on, wait, stop everything.
- 32:34SPEAKER_04: Like, I got I forgot to bet the under.
- 32:36SPEAKER_04: Quick, bet the under.
- 32:38SPEAKER_03: Immediately, they got a win.
- 32:39SPEAKER_03: That's good stuff.
- 32:40SPEAKER_03: Michigan is now in fact 2-0, despite they lost the fact that they lost Western Michigan.
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: They got they they counted as a win.
- 32:45SPEAKER_03: I'm still not really sure why, but they did.
- 32:47SPEAKER_03: So they have a win.
- 32:48SPEAKER_03: So Michigan, go ahead.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, Mich Western Michigan got 36 votes in the AP poll this week.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: So like somebody somebody thinks that they're legit for a big old max school.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: That would put them right in like just around 30.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: So they just deserve it.
- 33:02SPEAKER_03: I mean, this is where I went.
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: They just they do they deserve that that credit.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: Anyway, uh, let's keep it rolling.
- 33:08SPEAKER_03: All right, Alabama went to Lexington, Kentucky, 45 to 17.
- 33:13SPEAKER_03: They were losing at the half, let it be, let it be known.
- 33:16SPEAKER_03: Uh, this is one this is one of our bad picks.
- 33:18SPEAKER_03: Uh, we had uh Kentucky plus 10 and a half.
- 33:20SPEAKER_03: Um I've got Sabin derangement serum.
- 33:22SPEAKER_03: I just uh syndrome.
- 33:23SPEAKER_03: I just want to bet against Bama.
- 33:25SPEAKER_03: I want to in my soul, but that's hand up.
- 33:28SPEAKER_03: That's my bad.
- 33:28SPEAKER_03: Uh Keelon Russell, 60 for 23, 188 yards, and a touchdown.
- 33:32SPEAKER_03: Um he was good, I think for the most part, inconsistent.
- 33:36SPEAKER_03: Uh Kentucky couldn't do a lot.
- 33:39SPEAKER_03: Here's the here's the kind of the big okay, Kentucky never really had a chance to win this game.
- 33:42SPEAKER_03: I see that now.
- 33:43SPEAKER_03: Probably shouldn't have been that.
- 33:44SPEAKER_03: Keelan Russell is a five-star.
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: He still needs work.
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: We said that last week, we're gonna say it again next week.
- 33:48SPEAKER_03: Here's the thing that I think is actually interesting.
- 33:51SPEAKER_03: Bama rushed the ball 40 times for 155 yards against Kentucky.
- 33:58SPEAKER_03: This is the problem last year.
- 34:00SPEAKER_03: This is the problem with Kalen DeBore's teams, at least the iterations at Alabama without Jalen Milro, they can't run the ball.
- 34:07SPEAKER_03: The defense is opportunistic, the defense is very good, the secondary is arguably one of the best in the country.
- 34:11SPEAKER_03: They got a lot of guys back there that are very, very good, will be very, very wealthy very soon.
- 34:16SPEAKER_03: Alabama can't run the ball, and they still can't, and I don't think it's gonna change this season.
- 34:20SPEAKER_03: Anything?
- 34:26SPEAKER_04: They had four rushers averaging over four yards per carry.
- 34:32SPEAKER_04: Um, Crowell Morgan Brown Hill uh doesn't count Keelan Russell.
- 34:39SPEAKER_04: And so, yeah, when you can do that, it's once again 23 passes, 40 rushes.
- 34:44SPEAKER_04: When you can do that, you are in position.
- 34:48SPEAKER_04: And Coach DeBoer is off the hot seat.
- 34:53SPEAKER_04: He was he was uh you know, he was getting whispers in the hallway, but that's that's now over.
- 34:59SPEAKER_04: So sorry.
- 35:00SPEAKER_04: Mark what you asked.
- 35:01SPEAKER_01: I think my the key thing for that game was Alabama was able to hold Kentucky to one for 14 on third down opportunities.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: Uh, I think that was your biggest difference to the game.
- 35:11SPEAKER_01: And cheers the Alabama defense who really stepped up on third down, and that's where you win ballgames.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: I like Kenny Minchie.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: I think Kenny Minchie's a pretty good quarterback.
- 35:19SPEAKER_03: He's just a throwing against Alabama's secondary is just not how you're not you're not gonna get a lot of success.
- 35:25SPEAKER_03: You're not gonna do that really well.
- 35:26SPEAKER_03: They're really, really good.
- 35:27SPEAKER_03: He didn't have an awful day.
- 35:28SPEAKER_03: Not a great day, but not an awful day.
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: And they also just don't have a ton, they don't have a ton of guys that can they can they can they're difference makers out wide or in the backfield.
- 35:37SPEAKER_03: So anyway, uh tough straight for Kentucky.
- 35:39SPEAKER_03: All right, moving on.
- 35:40SPEAKER_03: Uh Arizona uh went to Brigham Yellow University, they got the loss.
- 35:44SPEAKER_03: Look, uh, Darren, you were all over this.
- 35:46SPEAKER_03: You have been on the BYU train from the get-go, and I think with if you watch this game, you probably liked your take a little bit more.
- 35:52SPEAKER_03: That that seems that's aging pretty nicely.
- 35:55SPEAKER_03: Uh the final score was 17 to 28.
- 35:57SPEAKER_03: I think Noah Fafita is awesome.
- 35:59SPEAKER_03: I still do.
- 35:59SPEAKER_03: I said in that pregame, 36 starts in.
- 36:02SPEAKER_03: He had a great game.
- 36:03SPEAKER_03: Arizona had no help.
- 36:05SPEAKER_03: Uh, and uh, I think it was about uh LJ Martin and that defense and that atmosphere and the altitude.
- 36:13SPEAKER_03: Um, and they got it done.
- 36:15SPEAKER_03: Uh BYU is gonna make some noise in the Big 12.
- 36:18SPEAKER_03: What do you what do you think, Darren?
- 36:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Bear Bachmeyer.
- 36:26SPEAKER_04: Uh he you know he can't throw.
- 36:28SPEAKER_04: He's doesn't have any receivers.
- 36:30SPEAKER_04: 217 through the air for three touchdowns.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: And one on the ground, four touchdowns for the Bear.
- 36:37SPEAKER_04: He's maturing.
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: He is um the star receiver's name.
- 36:41SPEAKER_03: He's throwing the legend in Glasgow accurately, so watch out.
- 36:44SPEAKER_03: I think I think RG3 in the comments.
- 36:45SPEAKER_03: I think RG3 was in the call and said a legend is born at one point, maybe.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: So I I love the names for everybody in college.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: Is that Mississippi State?
- 36:58SPEAKER_03: Fluff Fluff Fluff.
- 37:00SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 37:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:01SPEAKER_01: I I love it.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: I I love it all.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: Uh BYU, uh, win the Big 12 championship at plus 440 right now.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: Uh, would you take that bet?
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: I think I would.
- 37:12SPEAKER_03: Here's my thing.
- 37:13SPEAKER_03: Um, I am way down on Texas Tech, which we're gonna talk about in a minute.
- 37:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:16SPEAKER_03: Um I like BYU, but I also like a lot of teams now.
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: I I think Kansas State all of a sudden is pretty good.
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: Utah, which I thought was left for dead, Devin Dampier and Morgan Scaly just absolutely roasted Arkansas, which we're gonna talk about.
- 37:28SPEAKER_03: Despite Arizona losing this game, Arizona is good.
- 37:32SPEAKER_03: Noah Fafita is a damn good quarterback.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: I don't know who's on their home slate.
- 37:35SPEAKER_03: They could beat somebody, Houston could beat somebody.
- 37:38SPEAKER_03: It's not that I at one point, I think back in when we had this call initially in August, I think we're all like, well, Texas Tech is the mountain.
- 37:45SPEAKER_03: What are we all playing for?
- 37:46SPEAKER_03: Now it's like not only BYU's up there, I think there are three or four legitimate challengers now.
- 37:51SPEAKER_03: So it's not like I would I I support that BYU, the gap between them and Texas Tech is very small, if not non-existent.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: The problem is BYU looking behind you, they got three, they got three schools on their tail, too.
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: I think Arizona and Texas Tech are gonna be coming up soon.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Looking at the Arizona schedule, they're going to northern Illinois.
- 38:08SPEAKER_01: We saw what happened to them the first week.
- 38:10SPEAKER_03: Should win that game, yeah.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: Uh actually, Northern Illinois is coming to Tucson, then they're going to Washington State, then they're going, uh Cincinnati's coming into town.
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: West Virginia should be a good game.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: Iowa State, they played well.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: We'll talk about them in a little bit.
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: But then at Halloween, it's going to be Texas Tech and Arizona in Lubbock.
- 38:29SPEAKER_01: And uh, I think that that's gonna be a huge fun game to watch come Halloween.
- 38:33SPEAKER_03: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 38:39SPEAKER_04: It's my turn to like beetle juice this thing.
- 38:41SPEAKER_04: So, you know, I honestly I never had Texas Tech as a one and the rest sort of conference leader, you know.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: This is the BYU team, man.
- 38:53SPEAKER_04: We the bear, the bear is mature, he's ready to roll.
- 38:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and the defense too.
- 38:58SPEAKER_04: I mean, this was a really good team.
- 38:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:00SPEAKER_04: Uh Arizona is good, like you said, uh, scoreless in the second half.
- 39:04SPEAKER_04: And so they just shut him down.
- 39:05SPEAKER_04: They made an adjustment.
- 39:06SPEAKER_04: They've got coaching, they've got dudes.
- 39:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you said that way now.
- 39:10SPEAKER_04: You're not gonna be able to do that.
- 39:10SPEAKER_04: They were smothering trafita.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: Mississippi State at Minnesota, I feel good about it, felt really good about this.
- 39:15SPEAKER_03: Camaro Taylor is an absolute dude.
- 39:17SPEAKER_03: He is must-watch TV.
- 39:18SPEAKER_03: I stand by what I said earlier.
- 39:19SPEAKER_03: I think they run nine plays and about 75 variations of each of those nine plays.
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: That RPO stuff thing they're doing is great.
- 39:26SPEAKER_03: Uh, they've got guys who are running, uh, Anthony Evans are running around open all the time.
- 39:31SPEAKER_03: Uh, they went up there and they absolutely put it on um uh Minnesota.
- 39:36SPEAKER_03: Uh I Drake Lindsay threw over 279 yards, but they lost by 25 points.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: Uh Kamario Taylor is really good.
- 39:42SPEAKER_03: And I hope Mississippi State's boosters have a lot of money because he is gonna be in the market for a huge raise in 2027.
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: Mississippi is gonna win seven games, maybe eight.
- 39:52SPEAKER_03: They're gonna knock a couple teams off.
- 39:53SPEAKER_03: They're that good.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm I'm buying.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: And Zach Arnett, the the defensive coordinator, former head coach, he got enough out of them to shut down Minnesota.
- 40:01SPEAKER_03: So good for him.
- 40:02SPEAKER_03: What do you got?
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: Don't trust PJ Fleck.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: Never will.
- 40:06SPEAKER_03: What are we doing with him?
- 40:07SPEAKER_03: What what what are we doing?
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: Like Minnesota's got talent.
- 40:09SPEAKER_03: I just what what what's what are who in Minnesota is excited about PJ Fleck anymore?
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: I mean, they love him.
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: His personality is great.
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: He's one of those people that you want to root for, but they just I don't think they can win big games.
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: I I'm not yeah, neither.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: Darren.
- 40:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this is one where I'm totally eating crow.
- 40:33SPEAKER_04: Um, I thought Camario was, you know, showing off and being flashy against a nobody school, and he was gonna go up north, and the Big Ten was gonna show him what's up, but Camario looked like what Bryce what what all the Michiganers want Bryce Underwood to look like.
- 40:49SPEAKER_04: He was throwing darts, right?
- 40:52SPEAKER_04: Like he's a this tall runner, and he was throwing 30-yard darts and hitting his receivers right in the chest, and that is so dangerous.
- 41:02SPEAKER_04: He, like you said, they're gonna shock a couple people.
- 41:05SPEAKER_04: Don't be shocked by being shocked by Camario Taylor's success and Mississippi State.
- 41:10SPEAKER_04: They started to come up the last couple years, and you know, we get a little eye on these guys.
- 41:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're Jeff Letting.
- 41:17SPEAKER_03: They created a really tough situation when he got there, and he's turning it around slowly but surely.
- 41:21SPEAKER_03: And then it has that senior offense.
- 41:23SPEAKER_03: They've got a doozy uh Mississippi State at South Carolina next week.
- 41:27SPEAKER_03: Also 2-0.
- 41:28SPEAKER_03: South Carolina's two best players haven't played yet this year, so that's a little weird.
- 41:32SPEAKER_03: But we'll talk about that uh later in the week.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: Next week's pod.
- 41:35SPEAKER_03: Uh all right.
- 41:38SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 41:40unknown: Oh, yeah.
- 41:40SPEAKER_04: I thought you were gonna say they have a doozy as a of a schedule, too.
- 41:43SPEAKER_04: Just looking at it, my gosh.
- 41:44SPEAKER_04: South Carolina, then Missouri, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, all five in a row.
- 41:51SPEAKER_04: They absolutely will.
- 41:51SPEAKER_04: Hopefully it's not my tigers.
- 41:52SPEAKER_03: Hopefully he's not my tigers.
- 41:53SPEAKER_03: They'll shock one up.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: All right, we gotta go.
- 41:55SPEAKER_03: We gotta speed this up a little bit.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: Uh what we pegged what quite possibly the game of the week, and honestly, it was entertaining as heck.
- 42:00SPEAKER_03: If it weren't for the the Texas, Ohio State Absolute Cinema and the Oregon Showdown, the third best game, I would say Memphis at Boise.
- 42:08SPEAKER_03: Listen, uh Marcus Stokes is legit 384 yards uh in the air.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: He is a great passer.
- 42:15SPEAKER_03: I really do like him.
- 42:16SPEAKER_03: Boise, I just think I'm just really, really high on all of a sudden.
- 42:19SPEAKER_03: I think they are awesome.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: Um, score was 20 to 38.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: Uh Memphis defense, which I thought was gonna be a lot better.
- 42:25SPEAKER_03: I thought all those guys that came with Huff from Southern Myths were gonna kind of, I mean, I think Tapp and Kins with that pass rush are still really good, but they got a lot of holes on defense.
- 42:33SPEAKER_03: I was I was I was a little over my skis calling Memphis the best defense in the American.
- 42:37SPEAKER_03: There's no way they're the best defense in the American.
- 42:40SPEAKER_03: Um, and Boise is just really good.
- 42:43SPEAKER_03: And Maddox Maxon's dealing.
- 42:45SPEAKER_03: Uh, give me your Memphis Boise.
- 42:47SPEAKER_01: I got two numbers for you.
- 42:49SPEAKER_01: Uh Boise State ran for 357 yards on the ground, and their time of possession was nearly 40 minutes in that game.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: Unbelievable stuff from Boise State.
- 43:04SPEAKER_03: And honestly, I think Boise is gonna do that to a lot of teams this year.
- 43:07SPEAKER_03: A lot.
- 43:08SPEAKER_03: Uh they are good.
- 43:09SPEAKER_03: Uh Darren, what's getting Boise Memphis Boise?
- 43:16SPEAKER_04: This this is Madsen's fifth year.
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: Um, his first year he only played a little bit, so basically nothing.
- 43:23SPEAKER_04: Uh, but he has this is his fourth year of full-time starting.
- 43:27SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, so he's just he's just one of those guys who sees the field, sees that big, beautiful blue field, and can distinguish a blue jersey from a blue field.
- 43:39SPEAKER_04: That's a skill of the eyes that not many people have.
- 43:42SPEAKER_04: No, he's just ready.
- 43:43SPEAKER_04: You know, he's he's awesome.
- 43:44SPEAKER_04: Watch out for Madsen.
- 43:46SPEAKER_04: It's it's a lot of fun to watch him.
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: When they make the playoff, uh if they beat North Dakota State somehow into the playoff, they're ready to win a game this year.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: You know, they're not gonna be this two-lane blasting a little quick correction.
- 44:04SPEAKER_03: They're gonna make some noise.
- 44:05SPEAKER_03: They almost did it last week at Oregon.
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: But again, I'm you're thinking we're still looking at an 11-1 Boise, maybe a 12-0 North Dakota State.
- 44:15SPEAKER_03: Might be having a tough conversation at that point.
- 44:17SPEAKER_03: We shall see.
- 44:18SPEAKER_03: I wish they were playing each other this year.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: This whole the Mountain West and the Pac twelve did this crazy thing.
- 44:22SPEAKER_03: They they split and then they took some teams from one team, and now they're one's eight and one's ten, and they used to play each other, so it's hella confusing.
- 44:30SPEAKER_03: What are you gonna do?
- 44:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I just mean like in the conversation, you know, they're not Playing at each other, but somebody's gonna get into that playoff, and I hope it's noise because they could very generous tenant.
- 44:45SPEAKER_04: Who could they be?
- 44:45SPEAKER_04: They could beat Alabama.
- 44:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know, they might get in there.
- 44:48SPEAKER_03: They um uh and a Texas AM team that's can't move the ball with Marcel Reed.
- 44:53SPEAKER_03: I could see it.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: You could sell me on something like that.
- 44:55SPEAKER_03: Okay, uh very good.
- 44:57SPEAKER_03: Okay, I got five more games, but I got like one quick take, and we're gonna try and do rapid fire on this.
- 45:01SPEAKER_03: We're already at 45 minutes, so let's let's keep it going quick in uh Arkansas at Utah.
- 45:05SPEAKER_03: Uh Utah absolutely destroyed, and Devin Dampiero is still there.
- 45:08SPEAKER_03: Arkansas is easily the worst team in the SEC.
- 45:10SPEAKER_03: Anything.
- 45:15SPEAKER_03: Yep, absolutely.
- 45:16SPEAKER_03: Utah could play for the Big 12 championship.
- 45:19SPEAKER_03: I'm not selling all my Texas Tech stock, but keep an eye on that.
- 45:22SPEAKER_03: That's two weeks in a row.
- 45:23SPEAKER_03: They've looked bad.
- 45:24SPEAKER_03: Today's game, this game yesterday was exact is why they fought so hard for Brendan Storesby and why they brought Thomas Costellanos.
- 45:31SPEAKER_03: Obviously, they don't think Will Hammond is the guy, and they have a quarterback, they have a quarterback situation, and their defense isn't as good.
- 45:39SPEAKER_03: Texas Tech, my red flags are going off.
- 45:41SPEAKER_04: Anything there's any sort of odds to be had still with Texas Tech to make the college football playoff, no.
- 45:56SPEAKER_04: You know, I feel bad for not betting that a week or two ago, but if there's any odds yet to be had, that's a great play.
- 46:03SPEAKER_03: Last week looked awful again, beating Utah State.
- 46:05SPEAKER_03: They had to stop a Hail Mary attempt.
- 46:07SPEAKER_03: I think it was 16-14.
- 46:09SPEAKER_03: This is Damon Williams, one of the guys we were talking about as a first-round quarterback, Jed Fish, outstanding coach.
- 46:14SPEAKER_03: I think we all still believe that.
- 46:16SPEAKER_03: Something was wrong with UW.
- 46:18SPEAKER_03: Much like Texas Tech, keep an eye on that space.
- 46:20SPEAKER_03: I don't I don't like what I'm seeing out of UW.
- 46:22SPEAKER_03: Anything anything about the Huskies on that one.
- 46:31SPEAKER_04: Rooting for them.
- 46:32SPEAKER_04: You know, they're like one of those, like which which one of these number 20 teams could possibly make a scare?
- 46:38SPEAKER_03: UNLECT went to the absolutely crushed.
- 46:42SPEAKER_03: I think the score was like 48 to 7.
- 46:44SPEAKER_03: Hand up, my bad.
- 46:45SPEAKER_03: My UNLV love was misplaced.
- 46:47SPEAKER_03: They are not that good.
- 46:48SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna go ahead and own that one.
- 46:50SPEAKER_03: Uh the UNLV team just got absolutely destroyed by North Texas.
- 46:54SPEAKER_03: A North Texas team, all of talent went left and went to Stillwater, Oklahoma State.
- 46:58SPEAKER_03: So the team that we thought at least was wasn't that good, beat the bejesus out of UNLV.
- 47:03SPEAKER_03: Anything on that one for you two?
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: So disappointed in UNLV.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, me too.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: Jackson Arnold, like I would I enjoyed their game against Memphis so much in week zero that I was really like, I'm like, all right, you know what I'll keep an eye on them this year.
- 47:17SPEAKER_01: And now, no, I'm good.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: Next.
- 47:20SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 47:25SPEAKER_04: They will they will come back and like make a little scare throughout the rest of the season.
- 47:30SPEAKER_04: Um but because they got that coach-quarterback combination.
- 47:33SPEAKER_04: They got Jackson Arnold, Dan Mullen, they're gonna put some stuff together, but you know, it really in the end, it's one less team to to get in the way from the North Dakota state.
- 47:43SPEAKER_03: Kind of a homer reformation JMU, 87 points.
- 47:47SPEAKER_03: I get that it was Wagner, 87 points.
- 47:50SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 47:51SPEAKER_03: I I didn't watch a second of this game, but the box score is I made me raise my eyebrows.
- 47:55SPEAKER_03: Either of you watch this game, any idea what happened there?
- 47:58SPEAKER_01: I watched the highlights on YouTube, and wow, they just I mean, they destroyed them.
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: Every every uh every aspect of the game.
- 48:07SPEAKER_03: They didn't score unless.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: Go ahead, Darren.
- 48:11SPEAKER_04: I was driving.
- 48:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:14SPEAKER_04: I was driving in the Shenandoah Valley on Saturday morning.
- 48:16SPEAKER_04: I made a road trip, and I drove past.
- 48:18SPEAKER_04: I drove right through Interstate 81 goes right through the campus.
- 48:22SPEAKER_04: And so on both sides of the interstate, you've got purple pop-up tents and tailgate on the left.
- 48:28SPEAKER_04: On the right, the flags are up.
- 48:30SPEAKER_04: You can see basically into the whole stadium from the interstate.
- 48:34SPEAKER_04: You know, I cruised through there at 60 miles an hour and saw the scene, um, which made me just a little bit more like proud and happy to see them put up an 80 burger uh for all those all those Harrisonburg fans.
- 48:48SPEAKER_04: Uh go Dukes.
- 48:49SPEAKER_04: That's my hometown crowd.
- 48:50SPEAKER_04: So uh shout out to Chris Pace, friend who goes to most home games see the Dukes.
- 48:58SPEAKER_03: 21, 21, 24, and 21.
- 49:00SPEAKER_03: That's like every possession.
- 49:01SPEAKER_03: I mean, that's every possession scoring.
- 49:02SPEAKER_03: That's straight up dominant.
- 49:04SPEAKER_03: What do you got, Mark?
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: Three punt returns for touchdowns.
- 49:08SPEAKER_01: One was blocked, but three special teams touchdowns in the game.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: Dukes.
- 49:15SPEAKER_03: Wait a minute, they are earning their fighting their way into our homers list.
- 49:19SPEAKER_03: We're gonna we're gonna end up adopting them before long.
- 49:21SPEAKER_03: With that said, let's get moving into the homers for now.
- 49:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:26SPEAKER_03: Let's go ahead and jump right in.
- 49:28SPEAKER_03: Uh UVA on Friday night, uh, destroyed Norfolk State 59 to 3.
- 49:32SPEAKER_03: Bo Prabula got no carries, which is exactly what you want to see.
- 49:34SPEAKER_03: Two for negative eight, both sacks, uh, which is good.
- 49:37SPEAKER_03: Hey man, shout out Norfolk State.
- 49:38SPEAKER_03: Uh Mike head coach Mike Vick, former hokey great.
- 49:41SPEAKER_03: They've got a quarterback running back uh duo.
- 49:43SPEAKER_03: I watched the Highway game.
- 49:44SPEAKER_03: They were moving the ball pretty good.
- 49:45SPEAKER_03: I know they put I know it's low-level football, it's not apples to apples, but I I like what I saw uh um out of Norfolk State.
- 49:52SPEAKER_03: Uh with an UVA obviously not having protecting bow, big game WVU next week.
- 49:58SPEAKER_03: Uh they rolled.
- 49:59SPEAKER_03: So good stuff out of them.
- 50:00SPEAKER_03: Anything for uh on our for the Wahoos.
- 50:05SPEAKER_03: Dangerous.
- 50:08SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 50:09SPEAKER_04: Dangerous team.
- 50:10SPEAKER_04: They're worthy of a 25 spot.
- 50:12SPEAKER_03: At uh George Tech uh took them down.
- 50:15SPEAKER_03: Uh I don't have I don't have the notes in front of me where the final score was.
- 50:18SPEAKER_03: Uh Faison Brandon, 148 yards, two touchdowns.
- 50:21SPEAKER_03: He's getting better.
- 50:21SPEAKER_03: He's getting better quickly.
- 50:22SPEAKER_03: The Jim Knowles defense, which is we all know, is pretty complicated.
- 50:25SPEAKER_03: They seem to be picking it up.
- 50:27SPEAKER_03: Deshaun Bishop, 22 carries for 147 yards, 299 total rushing yards for Tennessee.
- 50:33SPEAKER_03: They are they are trending in the right direction.
- 50:35SPEAKER_03: I like what I'm seeing out of Tennessee.
- 50:37SPEAKER_03: You've if you're a Tennessee fan, you've got to be feeling really good.
- 50:40SPEAKER_03: You've got to be feeling really optimistic.
- 50:42SPEAKER_03: You have to be wondering, asking yourself, what is the true ceiling of this team?
- 50:47SPEAKER_03: They have the talent on the roster.
- 50:49SPEAKER_03: It's how quickly can Faison Brandon a season, develop, can grow, progress?
- 50:54SPEAKER_03: How quickly can the defense really adopt Knowles' system so he can do all the looks and things that he wants to do?
- 51:00SPEAKER_03: Um, so that's if you're a Vol fan, you'd be really excited.
- 51:03SPEAKER_03: On the flip side, George Tech might be a lemon.
- 51:06SPEAKER_03: Uh, I am concerned for my friends in Atlanta.
- 51:10SPEAKER_03: Anything on Tennessee George Tech?
- 51:13SPEAKER_01: Bio score was 45-24.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: Tennessee was favored by 12 and a half, they won by 21.
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: Um, I mean, they dominated, and and poor Mendo.
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: I wanted to root for him because I liked Fernando Mendoza last year.
- 51:25SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, oh, let's root for his little brother.
- 51:27SPEAKER_01: He's got a chance at Georgia Tech.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: But man, nah, it was over.
- 51:30SPEAKER_01: Like, Tennessee just dominated.
- 51:31SPEAKER_01: They looked great.
- 51:32SPEAKER_01: I'm looking forward to them in the next coming weeks.
- 51:35SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 51:40SPEAKER_04: They're a scary sleeper team.
- 51:42SPEAKER_04: They their schedule is not awful.
- 51:44SPEAKER_04: Their big ones are spread out.
- 51:46SPEAKER_04: Texas, couple weeks, Alabama, couple weeks, LSU.
- 51:51SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, they're one of these teams that might sneak in with a a 9-3 record to the playoff and well deserved.
- 51:57SPEAKER_04: They're, yeah, like you said, this is a team that's 15 in the AP right now, and you wonder why they're not above Texas AM.
- 52:05SPEAKER_03: They have enough ammo in their subject, above you know, some of these other 1112 teams prove any of that.
- 52:10SPEAKER_03: So while I you're right, I think there's some validity to that argument now.
- 52:13SPEAKER_03: The Vols are in a position where they don't have to worry about it because they're gonna have the chances to get those wins.
- 52:17SPEAKER_03: They're gonna send them way up or way down.
- 52:20SPEAKER_03: So good on them.
- 52:23SPEAKER_03: Not for long.
- 52:24SPEAKER_04: Not for they're sitting below um Penn State, Texas Tech.
- 52:28SPEAKER_04: Uh it's like, yeah, not for long.
- 52:31SPEAKER_04: They're gonna flip-flop with a lot of these guys soon.
- 52:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, just roll that video tape from from last week when we said hokies are favored by 18 points.
- 52:46SPEAKER_04: And I said, what?
- 52:47SPEAKER_04: Eight I can't understand who is taking plus eighteen for ODU here.
- 52:54SPEAKER_04: That's insane.
- 52:55SPEAKER_04: Uh Tech's got a complete scene.
- 52:57SPEAKER_04: The team, like you said, James Franklin has ra risen the floor of this team.
- 53:03SPEAKER_04: There is just a they're just in a another tier at this point.
- 53:07SPEAKER_04: ODU, William and Mary, JMU, these teams that have beaten tech in the last 10, 12 years, uh, we're just out of that.
- 53:15SPEAKER_04: We're out of that right now.
- 53:17SPEAKER_04: It's the gone.
- 53:18SPEAKER_04: We are in we are in the top 30 tier at this point.
- 53:24SPEAKER_04: And yeah, so our tight ends, man.
- 53:26SPEAKER_04: We got tight like we said preseason, we got these tight ends.
- 53:29SPEAKER_04: We got um Luke, uh, what's his name for Reynolds from who came who came with Franklin from Penn State.
- 53:36SPEAKER_04: We've got Goss now.
- 53:37SPEAKER_04: Reynolds scored two times.
- 53:39SPEAKER_04: Um Grunk is doing all the right things.
- 53:43SPEAKER_04: So yeah, we got we got this 12-13 personnel uh offense, and the running backs are dominating uh offense looks real good, and that's not to say anything of turnovers were huge in that game.
- 53:57SPEAKER_01: Um the fact that the one forced fumble was returned and then he dropped it at the one-yard line, and then they got um ODU got uh what is a touchback, but then the very next play, another forged fumble scoop and score.
- 54:08SPEAKER_01: It was incredible.
- 54:09SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean, I'm it's so nice to see Virginia Tech's defense stepping up and like you know, it's being relevant.
- 54:15SPEAKER_01: It was like the first sold-out game in a couple years.
- 54:17SPEAKER_01: It was really good to see Virginia Tech back on the map.
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: Like over to you.
- 54:23SPEAKER_01: Very nice.
- 54:24SPEAKER_03: I got two super quick things on Techs.
- 54:26SPEAKER_03: Uh, one, uh, they've lost this game too many times.
- 54:29SPEAKER_03: The fact that they handled this game with business three times, the fact that they handled ODU the way they did, it's just a really good omen for me for hokey football.
- 54:38SPEAKER_03: That the ceiling, like the the ceiling is higher, the floor is higher, everything is better.
- 54:42SPEAKER_03: This is not a game that we're supposed to be scared of anymore, and it never looked like it.
- 54:47SPEAKER_03: They took care of business.
- 54:48SPEAKER_03: Uh, secondly, I also want to echo what you said about the tight ends, Luke Reynolds and Benji Gosnell.
- 54:52SPEAKER_03: Benji Gosnell had a dime of a 57-yard catch.
- 54:56SPEAKER_03: It was a double pass, it was a lateral throw, and he caught a dime of a ball.
- 55:01SPEAKER_03: His stat his stat line looked so better.
- 55:03SPEAKER_03: The problem when the when they lateraled the throw, the receiver that caught it, he went down to one knee.
- 55:08SPEAKER_03: So his knee touched the grass, and then he threw it, so he was down there.
- 55:13SPEAKER_03: So it was actually a loss of it was a Grunkenmeyer like negative three-yard pass instead of a Benji Gosnell 57-yard catch.
- 55:20SPEAKER_03: But I I see you, Benji.
- 55:21SPEAKER_03: I got my eye on you.
- 55:22SPEAKER_03: Don't let Luke Reynolds take all the credit because you are also really damn good.
- 55:27SPEAKER_03: So really like that.
- 55:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 55:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and he would have had two.
- 55:32SPEAKER_03: Luke Reynolds catches eight for one oh eight.
- 55:35SPEAKER_03: My gosh.
- 55:36SPEAKER_03: Instead, I think you I think he ended with one catch for two yards.
- 55:38SPEAKER_03: Tough.
- 55:43SPEAKER_04: And again, it's uh it's a great thing that we can't bet on these Virginia teams anyway.
- 55:48SPEAKER_04: Uh, so you know, I don't have to worry or sweat, you know, bets and stuff like that.
- 55:52SPEAKER_04: But maybe that maybe that point spread is somehow a reflecting of like uh coaches who do or don't pour it on on the third and fourth quarters, because the score was 34 to 6 at halftime, and some coaches, you know, will like leave the starters in, call some bombs, you know, like they want to get to 60 for some reason.
- 56:13SPEAKER_04: But maybe Franklin's just just historically not that guy.
- 56:16SPEAKER_04: You just know just run run it up the gut, run it in the A-gap.
- 56:19SPEAKER_04: Yep, the next one.
- 56:20SPEAKER_03: All right, we're gonna do LSU and then Iowa and then we're gonna go.
- 56:21SPEAKER_03: 45 minutes of five.
- 56:22SPEAKER_03: I'll do LSU really quickly.
- 56:23SPEAKER_03: Uh LSU took care of business.
- 56:25SPEAKER_03: Uh they beat Louisiana Tech.
- 56:26SPEAKER_03: Uh LaTeX uh does uh does some funny things.
- 56:29SPEAKER_03: They run that 3-3-5 defense, it can give you some trouble.
- 56:32SPEAKER_03: Uh LSU was sloppy.
- 56:33SPEAKER_03: I think they were on the emotional letdown from what happened after the uh Clemson game last year, last week, and they are looking at the Ole Miss game, which is gonna be a crazy, crazy.
- 56:42SPEAKER_03: They just they were unfocused, wasn't there, still had 500 yards of offense, like you know, for all for all that, and they still won by 31 points in the second half.
- 56:50SPEAKER_03: They cleaned it up.
- 56:51SPEAKER_03: I will kind of tell you one fun fact you guys probably don't know.
- 56:54SPEAKER_03: Prince Well Yumin Yeon, the uh defensive end transfer from uh Ole Miss, he has five sacks on the season so far.
- 57:01SPEAKER_03: Two sacks game one, three get three sacks a game here.
- 57:04SPEAKER_03: The LSU all-time record is Arden Key with 12.
- 57:08SPEAKER_03: We might be seeing a single sack leader for the LSU Tiger.
- 57:12SPEAKER_03: Keep an eye on Prince Well, because the guy on the other side, Jordan Ross, is a stud too.
- 57:16SPEAKER_03: We have a pass rusher we haven't had in god ages.
- 57:19SPEAKER_03: So keep an eye on Prince Well, might be chasing all-time LSU record books.
- 57:23SPEAKER_03: So that's kind of fun.
- 57:24SPEAKER_03: And you guys, any LSU LaTeX takes?
- 57:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, the side of that.
- 57:33SPEAKER_04: Let's get LSU into the top five somehow.
- 57:37SPEAKER_04: Crazy.
- 57:38SPEAKER_03: All right, Mark, finish the strong with Iowa.
- 57:39SPEAKER_03: What do you got?
- 57:41SPEAKER_01: Well, Iowa won the way Iowa wins.
- 57:43SPEAKER_01: 16-13 on a last second field goal to beat Iowa State.
- 57:46SPEAKER_01: I just think like this is one of the reasons why I wanted to join the Iowa bandwagon this year.
- 57:52SPEAKER_01: For the sole fact of like, they play field position, they're not gonna finish somebody off, they they tend to lower themselves to the competition.
- 58:01SPEAKER_01: Um, even when we talked about it last week and they were favored by 14 and a half, or yeah, it was 14 or 14 and a half, and it was like, no, I can't I can't go 14.
- 58:08SPEAKER_01: There's no way they're gonna win by 14.
- 58:10SPEAKER_01: Like, it'll be a close game.
- 58:12SPEAKER_01: Um, and exactly what it was.
- 58:14SPEAKER_01: And the Iowa got stout on defense when they needed to get stout on defense.
- 58:19SPEAKER_01: Their special teams, you know, when your punter is the star, that's the kind of football that like I'm used to in uh my Chicago Bears fandom.
- 58:28SPEAKER_01: So that's why I've jumped on the Iowa bandwagon.
- 58:30SPEAKER_01: Hey, it was good.
- 58:30SPEAKER_01: I can't wait.
- 58:31SPEAKER_01: Northern Iowa this week, and then Michigan coming up.
- 58:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, let's go.
- 58:35SPEAKER_03: 2-0, baby.
- 58:36SPEAKER_03: Hawkeyes are 2-0.
- 58:38SPEAKER_03: Good on them.
- 58:39SPEAKER_03: That's all that matters right now.
- 58:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I got nothing on this.
- 58:42SPEAKER_03: It's just what a rock fight.
- 58:44SPEAKER_03: 29 carries for 93 yards for the Hawkeyes, 21 for 34, 191.
- 58:49SPEAKER_03: Uh, I it was a three-point game.
- 58:52SPEAKER_03: Um, obviously, we should have we should have known, we should have known that the spread was silly for a rivalry like that.
- 58:57SPEAKER_03: It was incredible.
- 58:58SPEAKER_03: I mean, they were hitting each other.
- 58:59SPEAKER_03: That was it got real chippy.
- 59:00SPEAKER_03: Uh, I mean, kudos, kudos to Iowa State for showing some pride, and they almost won.
- 59:04SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, three-point game, you all they were it was 13 to 10 and to three, so could have had it, but what are you gonna do?
- 59:11SPEAKER_01: And Iowa State won three of the last four games.
- 59:14SPEAKER_01: Three of the last four uh Cyhawk games.
- 59:18SPEAKER_01: So yeah, man, it's uh it was a big, big win for Iowa there.
- 59:20SPEAKER_01: Way to come back.
- 59:21SPEAKER_01: And uh I like the new coach from Iowa State.
- 59:24SPEAKER_01: He actually was uh feisty out there.
- 59:26SPEAKER_01: Um and even though they are the lowest ranked team in DraftKings to win the Big 12, I thought, hey, I thought they showed up and played well.
- 59:33SPEAKER_01: Not well enough to beat Iowa, but dang.
- 59:36SPEAKER_01: They did.
- 59:38SPEAKER_01: No.
- 59:43SPEAKER_04: Just can't believe the institution can't convince a top 20 quarterback to come to their college and play football.
- 59:52SPEAKER_04: Please can we get a quarterback in Iowa uniform to go along with that defense?
- 59:58SPEAKER_04: If it's happened ever in the last 20 years, they'd be a top eight team.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_04: But here we are again.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_04: Get him in the quarterback.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_04: We gotta win on the last second field goal.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_03: Anyway, get that guy in there somehow.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_03: All right, good stuff.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_03: That is your week three, or excuse me, week two review.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_03: Uh, let's do quick six, then we'll get out of here.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_03: Darren, the floor is yours, sir.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_04: All right, our quick six results are in last week.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_04: We had some Discord participation.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_04: Thanks for clicking and voting.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_04: Here's the rundown.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_04: Will Michigan score a touchdown?
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_04: I'm the only one who said no.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_04: Awesome.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_04: They did score a touchdown, they did win the game.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_04: Will Oregon cover the halftime spread?
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_04: We all said yes.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_04: Awesome.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_04: We all lose.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_04: We all lose.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_04: Uh next question last week.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_04: Does Mason Heinschel throw for over 4.5 touchdowns after throwing seven to seven different receivers?
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_04: I said yes.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_04: Mark said yes.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_04: Almost lost that game, too.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_04: Pittsburgh's gonna be a game.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_04: So they almost lost the touchdown in Monte.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_03: We should check the weather before that one.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_03: Yuck.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_04: Um, next question was Camario Taylor.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_04: Does he score over three and a half touchdowns?
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_04: No, he does not.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_04: Looked really good.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_04: Oh, no, I'm sorry.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_04: Wait a second.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_04: Camario Taylor, four touchdowns.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_04: He could have shown that was a good one.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_04: He did not three touchdowns, I think.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, sorry.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_04: Sorry, sorry, I don't have my stats in front of me.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_04: He did not score four touchdowns this weekend.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_04: So I got that right.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_04: Mark got that right.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_04: Discord did not.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_04: Mike, afraid not.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_04: Uh, who has more receiving yards?
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_04: It was Malachi Tony by a ton.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_04: For some reason, me and Mark said the other guy from USC, Mosley, had a very pedestrian.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, Tony only scored, you know, less than 100, but still.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_03: The door was open for him.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_03: There's just too many damn good receivers at USC.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_01: Wait, what how many what what did Tony end up with?
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_01: 96.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_04: Um, so Wade.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_01: I was trying to look at the game log because I watched that game.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, just under 100.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, he had two for 33, but he had a punt return for a touchdown.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_01: That's the thing that Trent Mosley at USC did.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_01: That's what it was.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_04: I remember watching being like, dude, he looks like he had an 86 yard punt right there.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_04: But only 33 yards.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_01: And then you count for the quick six.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_04: So Discord got that one right, Malachi Tony, along with Wade.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_04: Uh, last question last week was which trio scores, uh, puts together more yards, the receivers and running back from Texas or Ohio State.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_04: Marker the only one who got Ohio State and got it right because Jeremiah Smith by himself totaled more yards than uh Wingo, Coleman, and Hollywood Smothers.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_04: So that looks like three points for Mark, three points for the Discord, three points for Mr.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_04: Wade, and one point for me.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_04: So I have fallen from grace.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_04: Mike, we were tied after last week.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_04: So, Mike, I want to show you something right now on video.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_04: Um, happy birthday.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_04: I've got a shirt for you.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_04: Literally the shirt off of my back.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_04: Can't wait.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_04: Akron's t-shirt.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_04: Is now your is now yours, and the next time I see you, I will uh deliver it to you.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_04: There you go.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_04: You got that right.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_04: Akron zips, your uh your pet team for 2026.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, let's do it.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_04: Are you ready for a little quick six?
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_04: Alright, week week three coming up.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_04: We're gonna start in Michigan, and it's time for old Darren here to eat a little crow.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_04: Uh I asked if Michigan would score a touchdown last week, and they won the game.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_04: So, boo to me, and I'm sorry, Wolverine fans.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_04: Actually, I'm a Wolverine fan myself.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_04: So my question uh goes in reverse this time.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_04: They're hosting UTEP, one of the worst teams in college football.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_04: The score, so says Vegas, is supposed to be something like 42 to 7.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_04: So the question number one for this week ahead is will UTEP score a touchdown at Michigan this weekend.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_03: Michigan, what Michigan doesn't have is identity on offense, but they very much do on defense.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_03: They are a smothering defense.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be a point of pride for them.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_03: They might give up a field goal or two or three, no touchdowns.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_03: That defense is going to dig in and not let them do it.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna say no.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_01: So uh if if Oklahoma's defense can shut them out, I think Michigan's defense can hold them to no touchdown.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm gonna go with no.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_04: Let's go unanimous here.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_04: Um Michigan has woken up uh and saw themselves in a mirror and said, hey, we can actually do something this year.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_04: Um Mike, show your uh share your music with us.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_04: And play a little play a little fun jingle for me, would you?
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_04: I appreciate it.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_04: Quick six, question number two for week three ahead.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_04: I got the two biggest games, I say.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_04: Uh implications, good teams, ranked teams coming up this weekend.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah, here we go.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_04: I got two big games this weekend.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_04: Number one, obviously, LSU at Old Miss, that's 7 30.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_04: But also SMU and Louisville are playing at 3 30, right?
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so we've got a ACC championship implications here between this these teams.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_04: Really good teams, should score a lot of points.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_04: Their totals are within one point of each other.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_04: SMU's total is fifty-five and a half, LSU's total, good good defenses here, is fifty-six and a half.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_04: Uh question is which game will produce more points in total?
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_04: Will LSU misses?
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_04: Old Miss, will they score more points or will SMU Louisville score more points?
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_04: Now we got we got two stout LSU uh SEC defenses going up against each other uh at Ole Miss, not so much in Louisville.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_04: SMU Louisville is gonna be a they got the offenses going too.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_04: So what do you think?
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_03: I don't think I'm not I don't have a lot of confidence that LSU Ole Miss is gonna go under.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_03: Uh especially I think Trinidad Chambles might put his hair on fire, but I really like what I'm seeing out of Louisville Lincoln Keenholes and that offense and Isaac Brown.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_03: Um and I also really like uh SMU.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_03: I think Kevin Jennings, obviously, despite all those turnovers, was able to eke it out and beat Florida State.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_03: They got dudes too.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_03: I think you're gonna see a lot.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_03: I'm expecting a shootout way over.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_03: Give me SMU Louisville the higher total.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and like I said, the Vegas line is actually LSU game scoring a point more than the other game, but I'll go with you, and I'm gonna say SMU.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_04: That's the game that has the potential to score like 21 points in the last five minutes, sort of thing.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_03: I think there's the I think SMU Louisville might be a legitimate track meet.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_03: Like whoever, it could be like a whoever has the ball last, whoever has the ball last kind of game, score, score, score, score.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_03: I could see that.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_03: So I don't know.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_01: I agree with both of you guys.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_01: I think SMU Louisville is definitely gonna be the higher score of the two.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_01: I think LSU's defense will at least step up and and keep at least a couple drives of Ole Miss down.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_01: I don't see SMU and Louisville like stopping each other much.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_01: Um, like when Louisville played Ole Miss, that was a shootout in the fourth quarter.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_01: I see that for the entire second half of uh SMU Louisville.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I'm with you guys on that one.
- 1:08:27unknown: Good.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_04: We're unanimous so far.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_04: So we're counting the Discord to zag, and um the Discord might, you know, end up winning the prize uh of the week.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_04: Who knows if they zag against us?
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_04: All right, question number three.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_04: This is a late, late, late night game in the West Coast.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_04: We got the Oregon Ducks.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_04: Ever heard of them?
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_04: Hosting, hosting a team named, I'll give you a thousand guesses, Portland State at 10.30 p.m.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_04: Friday.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_04: So it's gonna be a 7.30 p.m.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_04: game in Austin uh for the Oregon Ducks.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_04: So I gotta go back to the well here.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_04: Uh are the Ducks worthy of covering point spreads still?
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_04: I gotta, like I said before, I have ridden Oregon overs and covers for years now, and it's awesome until the last two weeks.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_04: And so the question is in the first half, Portland State, remember.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_04: You know, this is barely a high school team coming into Oregon.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_03: Nobody will mind.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_04: Tell them I said so.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_04: It's fine.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_04: Um, we'll will Oregon cover a halftime first half point spread of 21 points.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go with my heart and against my brain and say, yes, they will.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_03: I just there's too much talent.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_03: They have to get right at some point.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_03: Obviously, it didn't happen this past week.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_03: I can't imagine what the meetings are like this week.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_03: I think this is gonna be a hair on fire game.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_03: I thought it was the Oklahoma State game and didn't work out.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_03: This is back in the comfy confines of Outson.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_03: Yes, they get right.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_03: They're gonna lead this game 42 to nothing at halftime.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_03: Yes, they cover.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_01: No, I'm sitting here looking.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_01: Mark, you gotta go to the state.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_01: San Diego State with a capability.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_01: North Dakota, they lost 47-23.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_01: Oregon has to get their head out of their tail.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_01: 21 and a half, yes.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_01: I I want to say no, but I have to say yes.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_01: It's uh not.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_04: This is like, I'm gonna sprinkle uh half a unit on this play this week.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_04: I'll bet 50 real pennies on uh one candy bar on this, but I'll say Oregon covers 21 and a half.
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go with you guys.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_04: Alright, okay, we're we are unanimous.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_04: Discord, there's your chance to zag right there.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_04: Portland State keeps it close, and Oregon steps on their own face somehow.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_04: Okay, next up, question number four.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_04: Okay, here we're going to Alabama.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_04: Do you remember Florida State?
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_04: That was last year.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_04: Last year.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_04: One of the crazy ones.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_04: Was that last year?
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_04: Was that two years ago?
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_04: That was last year, wasn't it?
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_04: Long time ago.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_04: Florida State, Alabama.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_04: Um Alabama was probably favored by what, 16 or so?
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_04: Um, so this is a 330 rematch and it's in Alabama.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_04: And I just want to get excited for this afternoon game.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_04: Uh, Florida State has capability to do some weird stuff.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_04: Uh who scores the first touchdown?
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_04: Is it gonna be Alabama or is it gonna be Florida State?
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I have no faith in Florida State.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_01: I'm going to Alabama.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_01: They'll score first.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_02: Uh first, you know, like, you know, you know, if Ashley creates some space.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_04: What happened in Tallahassee with his legs?
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_03: He can be.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, it's not like Alabama's gonna get the ball and just like march down the field.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_03: And with this with this vaunted rushing attack, like they're gonna have to the first, I'll tell you what, the first touchdown is gonna be a pass.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_03: I'll bet you I bet you almost every bet you every last dollar I have on that.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go Florida State just because I mean I think they're gonna outlast them for sure.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_03: But this is not a methodical, clean step on your throat, never give you a chance at the Alabama team.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_03: Those teams are gone, those are long gone.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_03: They left with Sabin.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_03: So weird things could happen, even though it's a get back, it's a get back game for last year.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_03: Um, Mike Norvell has his back to the wall.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna zag here.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_03: Give me Florida State to score the first touchdown because why not?
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_03: College football's weird.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_03: Oregon lost.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_03: You don't know anything.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_04: If Alabama wins the toss, they will defer and kick it to Florida State.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_04: If Florida State wins the toss, they will take the ball because they don't want their defense on the field first to you know just go down and stay down.
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_04: They want the ball their best chances on offense.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna say Florida State.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_03: It's in their best to do that.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_03: So I agree with you.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_03: I think I think no matter what, they're gonna get the ball first.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_04: They're gonna, yep.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_04: First possession, Kentucky.
- 1:13:55SPEAKER_04: First possession 7-0, Florida State score first, college football insanity.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_04: It can't happen.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_04: There we go.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_01: Thanks.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_01: Thanks for the win on that one, guys.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_01: Thanks for taking the loser side of that one.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_01: There we go.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_04: And we're off.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_04: Question number five.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_04: All right, we saw the huh, some of you saw, I was asleep.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_04: We saw the Texas Longhorns uh beat Ohio State University Saturday night about midnight.
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_04: And Texas is number one in the AP poll.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_04: Rightly so.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_04: They beat the number one guy.
- 1:14:36SPEAKER_04: So the c so the question is, and then they don't give you a little context, will Texas remain the AP number one after this weekend?
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_04: Okay, so Texas is hosting UTSA Roadrunners.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_04: Not a bad team, not a bad team.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_04: Might you know give them a little trouble.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_04: They're not as good as we wanted the roadrunners to be.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_04: Uh, they're not, you know, formidable, but they're not a bad team.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_04: So a win against a decent team is gonna mean a lot more than like Portland State.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_04: And then we got the winner of LSU Ole Miss.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_04: Somebody's gonna win that game, having beaten the other one.
- 1:15:14SPEAKER_04: Is that the team that deserves a number one spot?
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_04: Will the AP voters uh bring a team from number eight spot to unseat Texas?
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna say or will Texas remain in that number one spot?
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_03: It's not gonna be LSU or Ole Miss, it's gonna be Georgia.
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_03: Georgia's gonna go to Arkansas, an SEC game, an SEC opponent, so better than UTSA.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_03: And they've Georgia has looked flawless.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_03: Recognized competition.
- 1:15:38SPEAKER_03: I know who they've been playing against, but they have been absolutely murdering their first two opponents, and Arkansas is gonna get more of that.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_03: So if Georgia, my point, if Georgia goes and hangs 63 to 10 situation again, that's I think that is that's the threat.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say no.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_03: I also wouldn't be surprised if Texas is so is this coming off their hangover from just being Ohio State.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_03: They might look sloppy against UTSA.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_03: Uh so I could see the AP voters shifting to Georgia.
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_03: So I'll take I'll say no, because Georgia's gonna be number one with my pick.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_01: Yes, they will.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_04: Mark, yes or no?
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_04: Will Texas State number one?
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_01: And then the Roadrunners beat Texas State, so they have a mutual opponent coming up, but I see Texas coming out and just destroying the Roadrunners as much as I love the Roadrunners.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_01: They're my favorite team to watch on USA on Friday nights, but I'm gonna say Texas State is in the number one spot, at least this week.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_03: I mean, I'll s I mean I'll say this.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_03: There's a chance.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_03: If let's say if LSG just murders Ole Miss, let's say they win like 50 to 13, let's say they clemps in them, like yes, then I could maybe see it, but going from seven to one, man, that's a lot of spots to jump.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_03: I think I think the voters would put them in.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_03: I think the voters would get that, I think they would get some first place votes, you know, 15 or so, but I don't think it'd be enough for them to jump Texas.
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_03: But we'll see.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, good call.
- 1:17:07SPEAKER_04: Uh, I say that Texas will remain the number one team.
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_04: I'm with Mark, uh, simply because when you become an AP poll voter, you have to um take this little red pill that they don't tell you what's in there, and you have to take a little a little shot of potion.
- 1:17:25SPEAKER_04: Um, and it makes you it makes you rigid in your voting, and you cannot move teams up and down more than three spots.
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_04: Uh, it's physically impossible to.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_04: And so I'm glad you saw that game, though.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_04: I mean, Georgia, Arkansas, like that's that's legit win.
- 1:17:44SPEAKER_04: They will deserve it to be number one, but it takes an act of God like coming back from 20 points to beat Ohio State last night to actually vault yourself into the number one spot.
- 1:17:58SPEAKER_04: Um, and so Georgia will deserve it.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_04: You're right there, Mark uh Mike Wade, but not gonna happen.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_04: I'll say yes.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_04: Alright, question number six.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_04: Let's wrap up the quick six with the Homers.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_04: And so we got two games to consider.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_04: This is West Virginia coming to town to take on the Virginia Cavaliers.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's the Duke Mayo's classics.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_04: Um, that's it, Charlotte, North Carolina.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_04: It's the Duke Mayo Bowl.
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_04: That's right, it's the Mayo Bowl in Charlotte.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_04: So this is essentially a neutral site game.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_04: Uh so West Virginia playing UVA at 7.30 on Saturday.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_04: We also got my Virginia Tech Hokies making a road trip to Maryland in the same time slot at 7.30 on Saturday.
- 1:18:49SPEAKER_04: These.
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_04: Um, Maryland is not gonna go easy.
- 1:18:55SPEAKER_04: Uh they will go, but not easy.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_04: So the question here with my homers uh on the on the chopping block here is which team, Cavaliers or Hokies, is gonna score more points?
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_04: We got a neutral site with UVA hosting West Virginia.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_04: We got tech going to Maryland, and I'll tell you what Las Vegas says um it's like a two-point difference with UVA scoring a team total more, like a 28-ish, and tech is somewhere in the 27, 28, 29.
- 1:19:31SPEAKER_04: But UVA is scoring a little bit more.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_03: Both defenses are bad, and both offense playing might be good.
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_03: I could actually see both games being track meets.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_03: Um, I don't have any faith in West Virginia's defense, but I legitimately think Michael Hawkins, Cam Cook, Epps, and they got they have West Virginia has they're they're doing something on offense that has my attention.
- 1:19:52SPEAKER_03: Obviously, Bo Prabula is as well.
- 1:19:53SPEAKER_03: And on the other side, uh the Maryland team, Malik Washington is a superstar uh quarterback on the rise.
- 1:20:00SPEAKER_03: Uh, he might save Mike Loxley's job.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_03: And what's Virginia Tech for as methodical and as James Franklin getting those win the sure wins, not letting not letting mess around doing that, they haven't been tested.
- 1:20:14SPEAKER_03: All respect to the VMI Key Dets and the Old Dominion University Monarchs, Maryland Terrapin's in college station is a different beast.
- 1:20:21SPEAKER_03: Uh, different level of athlete, different class of physicality.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm gonna go Virginia because I think what they're facing in West Virginia's defense is softer, and and they're not in and they're not playing at a in a way stadium.
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_03: I think Virginia Tech is gonna be in for a bit of a fight, but I can see both teams scoring.
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_03: I can see both these games going over.
- 1:20:41SPEAKER_03: Give me UVA by three.
- 1:20:43SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_03: Not by much.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_03: Both teams are gonna score a lot, I think.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_03: I think.
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_04: When you say both teams, Mike, you mean like both West Virginia and Maryland don't have much for defense, but they do have scoring potential.
- 1:21:00SPEAKER_04: Is what I think, right?
- 1:21:03SPEAKER_03: I think UVA and Tech are both gonna win.
- 1:21:06SPEAKER_03: But I think both, I think that I think both games could be track meets.
