- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Okay, here we go.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Where the plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Dude, they said I got to come off the bench.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench, live from the Raising
- 0:12Speaker 1: Cane Studio. Better on the wet streets.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Silver on everything. The river's all wet.
- 0:23Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in. Hour number two of OTB
- 0:26Speaker 3: here live from Rouse's. All right, so we saw a
- 0:31Speaker 3: game last night. The Cleveland Browns now 3-1. Browns are
- 0:36Speaker 3: not Browning. The Browns are 3-1. They win last night
- 0:40Speaker 3: against the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. That is the first
- 0:43Speaker 3: game of the week. We're also going to have an
- 0:45Speaker 3: early game on Sunday from London. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The
- 0:52Speaker 3: Commanders and the Colts going to get the NFL weekend started.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Now there's some big games in the National.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Football League but of course we'll preview the Monday night
- 1:04Speaker 3: game a couple more times before it actually kicks off.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So don't worry. We'll get to the Saints-Falcons. One of
- 1:10Speaker 3: the biggest games of the week and just 20 year
- 1:13Speaker 3: anniversary of being back in the Dome against that same
- 1:16Speaker 3: team on Monday night just like you were 20 years ago.
- 1:19Speaker 3: So Looking forward to talking about that game in full detail. Again,
- 1:23Speaker 3: we'll have another chance at it on Monday as well.
- 1:25Speaker 3: But there's a couple games in the NFL this weekend
- 1:28Speaker 3: that are going to be, like, you don't want to say, like, oh,
- 1:31Speaker 3: it's going to tell you the story, define the team.
- 1:33Speaker 2: But I'll give you an example. Like the Jaguars against
- 1:38Speaker 2: the Bengals. That's a fun game.
- 1:42Speaker 3: That's two 2-1 teams that both have, you know, a
- 1:45Speaker 3: good win. At least one, like, under their belt. Cincinnati
- 1:49Speaker 3: a two-and-a-half point favorite. Jacksonville's playing really good. The only
- 1:52Speaker 3: game they lost was on the road against Denver, and
- 1:55Speaker 3: they kind of blew it. They gave up a lead
- 1:58Speaker 3: that they really had all game long at the end.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Yeah, no, Jacksonville's playing really good. I almost put Trevor
- 2:07Speaker 4: Lawrence in the top five of my quarterbacks right now,
- 2:09Speaker 4: and deservedly, he's playing really good. You can tell a
- 2:14Speaker 4: confident quarterback when you see it. And I think we
- 2:17Speaker 4: all kind of know when you see a confident quarterback plan,
- 2:19Speaker 4: you can tell the confidence. You can tell the mindset
- 2:22Speaker 4: of a quarterback when he gets to the back of
- 2:24Speaker 4: his drop back. It's that back foot. Knows what to do.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Knows how to do it. Makes throws into tight windows
- 2:30Speaker 4: that to the just the average person, the average quarterback,
- 2:34Speaker 4: they're like, why did you throw that?
- 2:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:35Speaker 2: He's not open. Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 4: But like you are because you're reading different cues. You're
- 2:39Speaker 4: reading different keys. And you're confident.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Trevor lawrence is playing like he's playing well enough to
- 2:47Speaker 4: where there's been debate on all these national shows about
- 2:50Speaker 4: right now who you taking joe burrow or trevor lawrence
- 2:53Speaker 4: yeah like that is a conversation that was never even
- 2:56Speaker 4: a thought yeah until like last year started playing really
- 2:59Speaker 4: well this year playing towards a you know it's so
- 3:03Speaker 4: early so i'm not like i hate to even say
- 3:05Speaker 4: it but like he's playing at a pace That could be,
- 3:09Speaker 4: you know, if he keeps it up, he'll be in
- 3:11Speaker 4: MVP conversations.
- 3:12Speaker 2: And, you know, again, Jaguars are playing really well, but
- 3:16Speaker 2: so is Joe Burrow.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I was about to say, by the way, to
- 3:20Speaker 3: Chris Canty's question, I'm taking Joe Burrow.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I don't know if it's Chris Canty.
- 3:24Speaker 4: They did debate it, but I've seen the afternoon people
- 3:27Speaker 4: talking about it.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Joe Burrow. They're both playing really well. But
- 3:32Speaker 2: for them to.
- 3:34Speaker 4: have that even conversation for a while is Trevor Lawrence.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I mean, he'll have some good moments and he'll do this,
- 3:40Speaker 4: do that, but he's an all around quarterback right now. He's,
- 3:43Speaker 4: he's one of these guys like you're going to watch
- 3:45Speaker 4: really good quarterback play that day to quarterbacks that in
- 3:48Speaker 4: the NFL are guys that pretty much are, have their
- 3:52Speaker 4: middle finger up to the defense when they walk up
- 3:54Speaker 4: to the line of scrimmage. So it's a, it'll be,
- 3:57Speaker 4: that'll be a fun watch. And I'm also looking forward
- 3:59Speaker 4: to Sunday chiefs Raiders.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah. I can't wait to watch that game. 3-0 versus 3-0.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Kansas City in that game on the road, a four-and-a-half
- 4:10Speaker 3: point favorite. If we played what's the ticket in the NFL,
- 4:14Speaker 3: that would be the winner of what's the ticket for
- 4:17Speaker 3: the highest ticket, $ 317 to get two feet into the
- 4:22Speaker 3: stadium there at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 4:26Speaker 3: It's two great fan bases. It's two undefeated teams. People
- 4:30Speaker 3: are fired up.
- 4:30Speaker 2: About that one. That's a big NFL ticket. That's a
- 4:32Speaker 2: big one. A lot of them are usually around. No,
- 4:35Speaker 2: it's not. It's one of the bigger ones in the
- 4:37Speaker 2: entire league. It might be the biggest. Right. The Raiders
- 4:42Speaker 2: have a chance? Oh, yeah, for sure. They're a good
- 4:45Speaker 2: football team. They are good.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Their defense is good. It really is crazy that we're
- 4:50Speaker 4: sitting here. And this is not a normal year. The
- 4:53Speaker 4: Raiders are a good football team.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah. The Browns are a good football team. Yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 4: The Jaguars, and I know they've been better than those
- 5:00Speaker 4: two teams in the past, but it's still Jaguars.
- 5:03Speaker 2: They're a good football team.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I know the Jets are 1-2. Look at the Jets'
- 5:07Speaker 3: defensive analytics. Look at Geno Smith. They're not far away
- 5:11Speaker 3: from being 2-1, being 3-0. The teams that have been–
- 5:17Speaker 3: that's what I love about the NFL. It's the thing
- 5:19Speaker 3: I love the most. A team can suck and then
- 5:23Speaker 3: have a good draft– two years in a row, and
- 5:26Speaker 3: get back off the mat?
- 5:29Speaker 2: I know we're jumping around a lot. That's what we
- 5:32Speaker 2: do here. Super squirrel sand.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Are the Browns kind of like, remember at Beer Fest
- 5:40Speaker 4: where they drink beer so much?
- 5:41Speaker 2: We're not that drunk. We're not that drunk.
- 5:43Speaker 4: They drink so much beer all the time that they
- 5:46Speaker 4: didn't get drunk from it.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Right.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Until they had, like, one shot of liquor, and it, like,
- 5:50Speaker 4: ignited all the alcohol in them, and they got, you know.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Very drunk.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Is have the browns been so bad for so long
- 5:56Speaker 4: and stockpiling talent for so long that they're just waiting
- 6:00Speaker 4: for one thing to blow the whole thing up in
- 6:03Speaker 4: a positive way for them like they've been stockpiling and
- 6:06Speaker 4: drafting well the last great drafts last three years i
- 6:09Speaker 4: mean it's and and they have two first rounders for
- 6:11Speaker 4: the next like three years are they this team that
- 6:15Speaker 4: with the right coach and i hate to say right
- 6:17Speaker 4: quarterback right now with deshaun but like he's playing at
- 6:20Speaker 4: that level yeah Are they this team that is, like,
- 6:23Speaker 4: just ready to explode? They finally hit the liquor? They
- 6:26Speaker 4: finally hit that shot of liquor.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 4: They've been drinking beer. They're about 35 beers in, but
- 6:31Speaker 4: one shot's going.
- 6:32Speaker 2: To ignite it all. Yeah. I don't know.
- 6:34Speaker 4: It kind of feels like it, the way they played yesterday.
- 6:38Speaker 4: The defense was flying around.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I saw this.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and the defense was good last year. They just
- 6:41Speaker 3: didn't have anything offensively.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I saw these plays, like, the big tight end for Pittsburgh.
- 6:46Speaker 2: What's his name? Um. Darnell Washington? Yeah. The guy's like
- 6:51Speaker 2: a mountain. Like 300 pounds, yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 3: He's literally like the mountain from Game of Thrones.
- 6:55Speaker 2: This is the Browns talking. The Browns, we know them.
- 6:58Speaker 2: We know them to give up.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Are you talking about the one play he caught in
- 7:00Speaker 3: the flat and the whole team tackled him?
- 7:02Speaker 4: It looked like there was 15 Cleveland Browns tackling him.
- 7:06Speaker 4: People flying from the other sideline at full speed.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Straining is what I love to talk about. That linebacker,
- 7:13Speaker 2: he does that every play. The Browns are straining. Yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 4: And You mix that with the buttload of talent that
- 7:22Speaker 4: they have because they've been so bad and they've been
- 7:24Speaker 4: able to pick so much. Then you throw a coach
- 7:27Speaker 4: and a quarterback. Like, I mean, I hate to say it,
- 7:30Speaker 4: but it's a dangerous combination.
- 7:33Speaker 3: They had five sacks, seven TFLs, broke up eight passes,
- 7:36Speaker 3: hit the quarterback ten times.
- 7:38Speaker 4: And coverage, too, like coverage sacks. And, like, getting there quick,
- 7:42Speaker 4: but also just covering them up.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Yeah, one of the guys that doesn't get talked to
- 7:45Speaker 3: enough about, That's a former Tiger in the NFL is
- 7:49Speaker 3: Grant Delpit.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:50Speaker 3: And look, Grant got paid, so he's respected in the league.
- 7:52Speaker 3: But you know what I'm saying? Like, he's not part
- 7:53Speaker 3: of the conversation. Nobody is there, right? Grant's a hell
- 7:59Speaker 3: of a football player. Yeah, he is.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And he was all over the place last night. Mm-hmm.
- 8:05Speaker 2: And it's good defense.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, who broke up a couple of passes. He
- 8:11Speaker 3: fooled Aaron a couple times, too. Like, he baited him
- 8:14Speaker 3: in the throw. He's a rookie from Toledo.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. And, like, to be able to do that, nationally recognized. Obviously.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Go Rockets. I think so. Toledo, Rockets, Moose. Toledo, the Rockets.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Are they the Rockets? Yeah, okay. Yeah, see? Nailed it.
- 8:36Speaker 2: We're talking about the Browns and the Raiders. We're talking
- 8:39Speaker 2: about the Browns and the Raiders. Yeah, how about that?
- 8:45Speaker 2: Don't let the Raiders beat the Chiefs, by the way.
- 8:49Speaker 4: I mean, we're not going to let them. They're going
- 8:53Speaker 4: to do it themselves if they do it. The Chiefs
- 8:57Speaker 4: are a hard out right now. I will say that.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I still don't know if Mahomes is at full speed.
- 9:06Speaker 4: I find it hard to believe that Mahomes is still
- 9:08Speaker 4: at full speed and playing the way he's playing. I mean,
- 9:11Speaker 4: he's playing like. Vintage Patrick Mahomes. And I still don't
- 9:14Speaker 4: know if he is 100% full speed.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 3: It's so impressive what they do, how long they've done it.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Andy has that team fully bought into what he's selling.
- 9:26Speaker 3: It doesn't matter how old they are. When I went
- 9:28Speaker 3: to camp, it's like Mahomes is doing the same drills
- 9:32Speaker 3: that Nussmeyer and whoever, you know.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Yeah. Justin Field. He's doing everything they're doing. Yeah.
- 9:39Speaker 3: You know, if they were asked to do something to
- 9:41Speaker 3: the side, he's doing it to the side.
- 9:42Speaker 2: He's hopping over the bags. Yeah. Throwing into a net.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Same thing with, like, Travis Kelsey.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Like, Travis Kelsey just got married to Taylor Swift at
- 9:49Speaker 3: Madison Square Garden weeks before that. He's walking through the
- 9:53Speaker 3: junior college or whatever Division VIII college we were at
- 9:56Speaker 3: and just sitting there and, like, chopping it up with
- 9:57Speaker 3: the boys in the cafeteria. Yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Sleeping in there. a twin bed yeah yes dorm it's.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Like andy has that team so bought into what he's
- 10:06Speaker 3: selling and they all doesn't matter like chris jones kenneth
- 10:10Speaker 3: walker it was very impressive it's just like this is
- 10:12Speaker 3: a team it's a football team yeah it just.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Is bought in.
- 10:17Speaker 3: And they don't really care that they only won six
- 10:19Speaker 3: games last year they know that they're gonna bounce back and.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Well they have well don't forget your roots people they
- 10:26Speaker 2: didn't they sure.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Didn't now they might have a bigger than twin bed
- 10:30Speaker 4: i don't know the extra long twin extra long for
- 10:34Speaker 4: sure some of the guys so we'd stay in an
- 10:35Speaker 4: old school dorm yeah and it was i would sleep
- 10:38Speaker 4: in that twin bed with that Plastic mattress in St.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Norbert's College. With 73 springs.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Some of the old salty vet linemen, at least, like
- 10:48Speaker 4: Chad Clifton and some of the bigger guys, they'd bring
- 10:52Speaker 4: a king bed in. They're like, I ain't sleeping in that.
- 10:55Speaker 4: They probably didn't fit in a twin bed, for one.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Right.
- 10:59Speaker 2: They just put it on the floor? I don't know.
- 11:02Speaker 4: They probably, if I had to assume, they were on
- 11:05Speaker 4: nice contracts, they probably paid some of the equipment guys
- 11:07Speaker 4: to move the twins out and set up a bed.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 4: If I had to guess. Probably didn't do it themselves.
- 11:13Speaker 4: They can't keep their bodies right for the grind of
- 11:16Speaker 4: the season. Or you just done that thing on the floor.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Why not? You're barely there.
- 11:20Speaker 3: You're there to sleep six and a half hours before
- 11:23Speaker 3: you just repeat it.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Anyways. One more game I want to talk about real quick.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Broncos 49ers. In San Francisco. Well, Santa Clara. Which isn't
- 11:37Speaker 3: actually that close to San Francisco. It's the same state.
- 11:41Speaker 3: The Broncos playing well. Comeback wins against Jacksonville and the Rams.
- 11:48Speaker 3: The 49ers 3-0. People are like, oh, yeah, but who
- 11:50Speaker 3: are they playing? I don't think it matters who they played.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Brock Purdy's on another planet right now.
- 11:54Speaker 2: They played the Rams. I know, but people are like, oh,
- 11:57Speaker 2: this is Australia. It's Australia. It's like, okay. It was
- 12:00Speaker 2: Australia for San Francisco, too.
- 12:02Speaker 3: We had Kyle Juszczyk on the show yesterday.
- 12:05Speaker 2: And he was just talking about, you know, he's like, yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 2: when we're healthy, we're pretty good. Yeah. Yeah, when the
- 12:10Speaker 2: substation doesn't get us, we're pretty good. You had Kyle?
- 12:14Speaker 2: I had Juice.
- 12:14Speaker 3: How many times do you have to, you know, just cancel? Well,
- 12:19Speaker 3: typically we have fullback Fridays. But since he couldn't do Friday,
- 12:22Speaker 3: we made it a fullback Thursday.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Smart. I like that.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I mean, look, we've had Allstott. We've had Loneal. We've
- 12:27Speaker 3: had Tom Rathman, Moose Johnston. We've had them all.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Moose.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:32Speaker 3: But he was just talking about, he's like, dude, Brock
- 12:34Speaker 3: Purdy is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
- 12:37Speaker 2: He goes, I don't know why.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Every year he's like, he hit reset with him, and
- 12:40Speaker 3: he's got to prove it all over again where nobody
- 12:42Speaker 3: else really has to do that.
- 12:43Speaker 2: He goes, no, he doesn't mind doing it, and he'll
- 12:45Speaker 2: do it. He's like, but why?
- 12:46Speaker 3: Like, why does Brock Purdy have to reset our mind
- 12:49Speaker 3: every single time?
- 12:50Speaker 2: Because he's a standard looking white guy. He said because
- 12:51Speaker 2: he's Mr. Irrelevant.
- 12:53Speaker 3: No.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, maybe. Maybe that helps. There's some of that.
- 12:58Speaker 2: But he's just a standard-looking white guy.
- 13:00Speaker 4: There's nothing that sticks out about him, right?
- 13:03Speaker 2: Okay, well.
- 13:05Speaker 4: I had him number one on my quarterback list. I'm
- 13:07Speaker 4: not hating on him.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I know you're not hating. I'm a big fan of him.
- 13:10Speaker 3: He's just not tall. He's not super fast. Drake Mays
- 13:14Speaker 3: is a very normal-looking white guy.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Yeah, white bread. Yeah. I mean, Aaron's kind of a
- 13:20Speaker 2: normal-looking white guy. Aaron's not overly tall or big. I guess.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I mean. I don't know. Just something about his face
- 13:30Speaker 2: that he just looks standard. Is there anything he can
- 13:31Speaker 2: do about it? Matthew Stafford.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Matthew Stafford, very ordinary looking bro.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Okay, I got it.
- 13:37Speaker 4: But like, maybe we're not on the same page on this.
- 13:43Speaker 4: There's no like quality that he has that is better
- 13:45Speaker 4: than everybody else. Except when he puts it all together,
- 13:49Speaker 4: he is better than everybody else.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:52Speaker 4: At least Aaron Stafford, they got this giant arm and
- 13:56Speaker 4: amazing hand, like hand talent.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I'm not going to say arm talent, Taylor. I know
- 14:00Speaker 2: you hate it.
- 14:02Speaker 4: But they throw the ball different. Brock doesn't throw the
- 14:04Speaker 4: ball different. When you watch him throw, it's not like, man,
- 14:07Speaker 4: that's different.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Yeah. That's amazing. Whatever. But he puts it all together.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Right now, he's the best quarterback in the NFL.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I agree. That would mean that he's the best quarterback
- 14:18Speaker 2: in the world. That's what that means.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Boom.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Boom. How about that? You said it, man. You said it, man.
- 14:25Speaker 4: There's not one person walking on this planet better than him.
- 14:28Speaker 2: It's fair. I mean, it's true. So I'm not knocking him.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Just said he's.
- 14:34Speaker 3: It's also true what Juice said yesterday, too, though. He
- 14:38Speaker 3: does have to, like, reset our memory every year.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, he does. It's very true. He's on pace. And
- 14:43Speaker 2: I'm raising my hand on that. We did our top.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Top quarterbacks in the NFL during the offseason on NFL radio.
- 14:50Speaker 3: We went one from 32, and I think I had him.
- 14:53Speaker 2: At, like, 11. Really? Yeah. It's because, like, he's got
- 14:56Speaker 2: to reset every year. I don't know why.
- 14:58Speaker 3: I don't know why that's the case. He's done it
- 15:00Speaker 3: for multiple years when he's healthy. He's in that conversation,
- 15:03Speaker 3: and he is playing better than anybody in the NFL
- 15:05Speaker 3: right now.
- 15:06Speaker 2: I think this is the year that probably is going
- 15:07Speaker 2: to stick. I think so, too. Yeah.
- 15:09Speaker 3: With the way that they're trending. This is a big
- 15:10Speaker 3: game for them, though. Is he like Gunnar Stockton? A
- 15:13Speaker 3: little bit.
- 15:13Speaker 1: He is.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I think it's a good. Yes, it's a very good.
- 15:16Speaker 2: People stop talking about it. People are like, wait a minute. Oh, yeah,
- 15:19Speaker 2: I forgot. He's actually really good. Yep. I think that's
- 15:21Speaker 2: actually a pretty good comp. All right. We are going
- 15:24Speaker 2: to step away.
- 15:24Speaker 3: And when we come back, let's get to the game

- 17:18Speaker 3: Before we get into Saints and Falcons, I want to
- 17:21Speaker 3: remind you to go to ktozblinds.com, ktozblinds.com, KTOZ Interiors and
- 17:28Speaker 3: Outdoor Living. Again, don't treat me any different, Flynn, on
- 17:33Speaker 3: Monday after you see the commercial.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I'm excited because I hadn't seen it, and I already
- 17:38Speaker 2: know it's going to be great. Thank you.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I mean, you haven't seen it, but you also knew
- 17:43Speaker 3: that my giant hand was going to be in there
- 17:45Speaker 3: touching the button.
- 17:46Speaker 2: For sure. Is this your acting job? You hit the button,
- 17:48Speaker 2: and you go. Oh, you just watch it go up?
- 17:52Speaker 2: I mean, you're not far off. Like with a smile, though.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Holding hard, though?
- 18:00Speaker 2: No, I should have. And then back down. Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:03Speaker 2: That'd be sick.
- 18:04Speaker 3: It's going to be an electric factory when you see it.
- 18:07Speaker 3: But look, that's because they've helped me out of my house.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Inside and outside, outside and inside. And you'll see exactly,
- 18:12Speaker 3: I think, what I'm talking about during the commercial with
- 18:14Speaker 3: that outdoor screen and how much it changes the area.
- 18:17Speaker 3: So go to ktozblinds.com today, ktozblinds.com.
- 18:22Speaker 2: All right, the New Orleans Saints hosting the Atlanta Falcons.
- 18:25Speaker 2: It is a big day.
- 18:26Speaker 3: It is the 20-year anniversary of when the Saints got
- 18:28Speaker 3: back into the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina. That was an
- 18:32Speaker 3: incredible game. This is going to be an incredible game.
- 18:35Speaker 3: It's against the same team and the same night, a
- 18:37Speaker 3: Monday night football game. with a team that certainly kind
- 18:41Speaker 3: of changed our outlook on them after last week, the
- 18:43Speaker 3: Atlanta Falcons. They go to Lambeau. They take care of
- 18:47Speaker 3: the Green Bay Packers. It wasn't even close. B. John
- 18:49Speaker 3: Robinson did B. John Robinson things. 66 carries, 349 yards
- 18:55Speaker 3: on the year, and he is the straw that stirs
- 18:59Speaker 3: the drink there in Atlanta, to say the least. Drake
- 19:03Speaker 3: London went off in that game as well. Now, some
- 19:06Speaker 3: very unfortunate news for you.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Travis A. Chan, IR.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Don't know how long that's going to be. We know
- 19:17Speaker 3: he's got a hamstring. It's bad enough to put him
- 19:19Speaker 3: on IR. Hopefully it's the shortest of short terms that
- 19:22Speaker 3: you can be on there. Hopefully it's a four-week deal.
- 19:24Speaker 3: We don't know. That was a $ 50- plus million signing that
- 19:29Speaker 3: you made in the offseason, and you haven't really been
- 19:32Speaker 3: able to commit to the run. You were playing from
- 19:34Speaker 3: behind in Detroit. You were playing from behind in Baltimore.
- 19:37Speaker 3: And then last week, it felt like you got started
- 19:39Speaker 3: a little bit. He goes down in that game. He
- 19:42Speaker 3: is going on the IR.
- 19:44Speaker 2: You right now, you don't have a lot of juice
- 19:47Speaker 2: in that running back room. It is a run.
- 19:51Speaker 3: And you can't go sign Devin Neal because he signed
- 19:53Speaker 3: with the Minnesota Vikings. So, you know, you released him.
- 19:56Speaker 3: You can't just go back and bring him back into
- 19:58Speaker 3: the fold. So right now we're talking A.K. Kendre Miller,
- 20:03Speaker 3: who's Obviously had some issues holding on to the football.
- 20:06Speaker 2: C.J.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Donaldson, who's been more of a fullback, honestly, than he
- 20:09Speaker 3: has been a running back for the Saints, on the
- 20:12Speaker 3: practice squad. When you go take a look at who
- 20:15Speaker 3: they have there, it's Amir White who they traded for, right? Remember,
- 20:19Speaker 3: Debo got traded for him at the very, very end
- 20:22Speaker 3: of training camp. So Amir White is on the practice squad.
- 20:25Speaker 2: You probably elevate him.
- 20:26Speaker 3: But at this point, and if you wanted to go
- 20:30Speaker 3: take a look, well, who could the Saints add?
- 20:31Speaker 2: There's just not a lot.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Like, we can go to the free agent list right now,
- 20:35Speaker 3: and we can look at who would be available, what
- 20:37Speaker 3: veteran player to bring in. Like, you're not bringing in
- 20:40Speaker 3: Joe Mixon. Nick Chubb retired. You're not bringing in Kareem Hunt,
- 20:45Speaker 3: although it might not be that bad of an idea.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Miles Sanders. Like, none of these guys right now, it
- 20:49Speaker 2: doesn't feel like they're going to be in the building.
- 20:51Speaker 4: At what point, though, as a front office, Mickey Loomis
- 20:56Speaker 4: and his staff have to be looking at this and
- 20:58Speaker 4: being like, all right, if we get this win, we're 2-2.
- 21:01Speaker 2: We're sitting on top of NFC South.
- 21:06Speaker 4: At what point do you say we need to push
- 21:09Speaker 4: some chips in a little bit? And, you know, we
- 21:12Speaker 4: saw last year they made a trade for Vele midseason.
- 21:14Speaker 4: We were all like, what are you doing?
- 21:15Speaker 2: What are you doing? Like, at what point do you.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Maybe look at making a trade for potentially bringing in
- 21:21Speaker 4: a running back?
- 21:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:24Speaker 4: I mean, I would think that it would be on
- 21:26Speaker 4: the table, certainly. Just this is from a thousand... thousand
- 21:31Speaker 4: mile view from my perspective looking in but like I've
- 21:34Speaker 4: just if you have a need and you believe that
- 21:38Speaker 4: you got a really good shot at making a playoff
- 21:42Speaker 4: um you know who knows what a playoff run like
- 21:44Speaker 4: you you give yourself a chance and see what happens
- 21:46Speaker 4: in the playoffs but you got to get there and
- 21:48Speaker 4: I got a hard time believing you're going to be
- 21:50Speaker 4: you can you're going to win some games on the
- 21:52Speaker 4: right arm of Tyler Shuck and you're going to win
- 21:54Speaker 4: a decent amount of them I think yeah he's proven
- 21:57Speaker 4: that but you have to have A running attack. And
- 22:00Speaker 4: if Kendrick Miller continues to have the issues that he's having,
- 22:04Speaker 4: I don't know if you're going to, I don't even
- 22:06Speaker 4: know if you have a choice but to try to
- 22:07Speaker 4: go out there. And if A-Champ can't get, like, we've
- 22:10Speaker 4: seen hamstrings. We know what hamstrings can be. They can
- 22:12Speaker 4: be lingering, especially at a position where you have to
- 22:15Speaker 4: run a lot. And that's in the name of his position.
- 22:17Speaker 4: It's called running back for a reason.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Got to run. And so I don't know. I mean,
- 22:24Speaker 2: they've done some midseason trades. You could. I'd go sign
- 22:27Speaker 2: Kareem Hunt.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Hmm i go sign cream hunt right now right now
- 22:33Speaker 3: i'm taking a look like who's available and who could
- 22:36Speaker 3: actually come in and be impactful he's older back and
- 22:40Speaker 3: you might well you gotta you already got an older
- 22:42Speaker 3: back in ak i know but also i want some
- 22:44Speaker 3: experience back there like no offense i like maybe no
- 22:49Speaker 3: i do i do i want somebody's going to protect
- 22:51Speaker 3: tyler shock cream hunt's really good in past protection like
- 22:53Speaker 3: i I don't want a young player that's like, oh,
- 22:56Speaker 3: I didn't see that safety coming on the backside. And
- 22:58Speaker 3: then Tyler Shucks eating out of a straw. Like, I
- 23:01Speaker 3: don't want to see that.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Don't go pick up an idiot. For sure.
- 23:06Speaker 2: All of us young running backs, I mean. What's the
- 23:10Speaker 2: age on this guy? Oh, Kareem Hunt? He's in his
- 23:13Speaker 2: 30s for sure. 31. Okay. I don't like it. Played
- 23:18Speaker 2: 17 games for the Chiefs last year. Okay. They lost.
- 23:21Speaker 2: They won six games.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 23:23Speaker 2: All right. All right, smart guy. Who are you going
- 23:26Speaker 2: to go get? I'm going to trade for somebody. Okay, who?
- 23:29Speaker 4: I'm going to trade for someone with some juice. I
- 23:30Speaker 4: don't know who it is. I don't have the rosters
- 23:32Speaker 4: in front of me.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I gave you a name. Give me a name. I
- 23:36Speaker 2: say Kareem Hunt. Let's see. Who's the backup running back for?
- 23:41Speaker 2: Let's see. You pick a team. The Chiefs. Emmitt Johnson.
- 23:45Speaker 2: They just drafted him from Nebraska. Okay, not getting him. Nope.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Not getting him. Lions. Lions.
- 23:51Speaker 3: They don't they they literally don't have one really like
- 23:54Speaker 3: that's why jameer gibbs is has all the carries because
- 23:57Speaker 3: they signed uh isaiah pacheco yep and he's been on
- 24:00Speaker 3: the ir and so it's like they don't they don't
- 24:03Speaker 3: see hawks uh seahawks do have a a long list
- 24:07Speaker 3: of running backs they drafted price they signed was it
- 24:11Speaker 3: wilson they signed in the offseason uh they got three
- 24:14Speaker 3: that they like but Now, if Zach Charbonnet comes back,
- 24:18Speaker 3: then they'd probably be willing to give up one of
- 24:21Speaker 3: their running backs, which would probably.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Be Emmanuel Wilson. We'll go get him.
- 24:29Speaker 3: But they're not going to probably do that until Zach
- 24:30Speaker 3: Charbonnet comes back. And their other two running backs are questionable,
- 24:33Speaker 3: so maybe that's out there.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Well, that's what I was– my question is, it's like
- 24:36Speaker 4: if you continue– like if you win this game Monday
- 24:39Speaker 4: and then– You're at the top. And then at what
- 24:42Speaker 4: point during the season do you say, all right, this
- 24:44Speaker 4: is this playoff thing.
- 24:46Speaker 2: We have to close this season. Yeah. We got to
- 24:48Speaker 2: finish this season.
- 24:51Speaker 4: Kendra is not doing what we need him to do. Hey,
- 24:54Speaker 4: Chan's not getting as healthy as we'd like. So we
- 24:56Speaker 4: have to.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I have. And again, this is us playing GM. We're
- 25:03Speaker 2: really good at it, though. I mean, basically. There's a
- 25:06Speaker 2: running back in L.A. for the Chargers. Kamani Vidal. He
- 25:10Speaker 2: went to Troy.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Really good football player and they drafted omari and hampton
- 25:17Speaker 3: and last year they used him a lot he's only
- 25:19Speaker 3: got one carry this year but you go back and
- 25:22Speaker 3: you look at what he was last year because when
- 25:24Speaker 3: omari and hampton was out like he kind of was
- 25:27Speaker 3: the guy and he had 155 carries last year 643
- 25:30Speaker 3: yards he's not he's only got one carry this year
- 25:33Speaker 3: he's got one carry last year i know Let's go
- 25:36Speaker 3: get that guy. He's the three now for the Chargers.
- 25:38Speaker 3: The Chargers are bad. You could give them a seventh-round pick,
- 25:43Speaker 3: and they'd give you Vidal.
- 25:44Speaker 2: He was good. He was a good player, yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Caught 16 balls last year as well.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Good in pass protection. I think I picked him up
- 25:52Speaker 2: one time. He had a big game. I picked him
- 25:54Speaker 2: up in fantasy one week. That's the kind of guy
- 25:57Speaker 2: I think you're talking about. Yeah.
- 25:59Speaker 3: They drafted him in the sixth round. It wouldn't take
- 26:00Speaker 3: a lot to get him either. Teams are 0-3. They're
- 26:03Speaker 3: going to be 0-4. They're playing the Seahawks this week.
- 26:06Speaker 3: They'd be like, yeah, sure. Here's our third running back.
- 26:10Speaker 3: But he was their one for a majority of the
- 26:12Speaker 3: season last year. So that's the guy that you're talking about.
- 26:15Speaker 3: That's the guy I'm talking about.
- 26:16Speaker 2: We got him. We found him. Let's go. Let's go, Mickey.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Make the call. Make the call. Friend of the show. Vidal. Vidal? Vidal. V-I-D-A-L. Vidal.
- 26:30Speaker 2: That's a toughie. Come on in, Vidal.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Vidal.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Troy Legend. Don't say it so fast like that, like
- 26:36Speaker 2: you know him.
- 26:37Speaker 3: I've kind of talked to him before. I do think, like,
- 26:46Speaker 3: to kind of bring it back, and we were trying to,
- 26:47Speaker 3: you know, play GM here because it's something.
- 26:50Speaker 2: It's a factor.
- 26:51Speaker 3: You can't, you know, I mean, Tyler Sheck's done 132
- 26:55Speaker 3: passes already in three games.
- 26:58Speaker 2: That's a lot. You can't live like that. Can he
- 27:03Speaker 2: do it? Yeah, but you don't want to live in
- 27:04Speaker 2: that world. You're not going to consistently... You're not going
- 27:09Speaker 2: to consistently.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Be the team you want to be and finish the
- 27:11Speaker 4: games you want to play. You have to have a
- 27:13Speaker 4: running game. I mean, look at the best quarterbacks in
- 27:15Speaker 4: the league. They've got an amazing running game.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Josh Allen has the leading rusher in the NFL from
- 27:20Speaker 3: a year ago. And James Cook just ran for like
- 27:22Speaker 3: 150 last week.
- 27:24Speaker 4: I mean, how many, like the first game we saw
- 27:26Speaker 4: Patrick Mahomes back, Kenneth Walker ran for like 200 yards.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Like, yeah, the best. Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey. Absolutely.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Last year with Stafford, the MVP, they ran 13 personnel
- 27:35Speaker 4: the majority of the time.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:37Speaker 4: You need a– like, you can't rely– like, Chuck's going
- 27:40Speaker 4: to win you games because he's that dude.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Yeah. He's going to win you games. I agree. But
- 27:44Speaker 2: you don't want to live like that.
- 27:45Speaker 4: But you have to– your fault. Like, we just said
- 27:47Speaker 4: it in the college world where you're traveling. Like, running
- 27:50Speaker 4: game travels.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Yeah. And it helps the quarterback. Yes.
- 27:54Speaker 4: You want your quarterback to be able to put a
- 27:56Speaker 4: cape on and be Superman and win those games for you?
- 28:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's great.
- 28:01Speaker 4: And that's an awesome trait to have, especially when you get,
- 28:04Speaker 4: into November, into December, and when those playoffs start, you
- 28:08Speaker 4: want your quarterback to be that guy. But in the
- 28:10Speaker 4: regular season, you've got to have a running game. Week in,
- 28:14Speaker 4: week out, if you want to have any hope at consistency.
- 28:19Speaker 3: All right, we will step away. Still to come, we
- 28:22Speaker 3: have What's the Ticket? We've got our pontoon parlay. We've got,
- 28:27Speaker 3: you know, another look at LSU and McNeese. And something
- 28:31Speaker 3: we certainly can't talk about when we come back. We
- 28:33Speaker 3: know what this game is. We know what the spread is.
- 28:35Speaker 3: It's 50-plus, right? But there's things that we're looking for
- 28:38Speaker 3: from LSU in this game. Guys playing in maybe a
- 28:42Speaker 3: new position. Maybe they get elevated on the depth chart.
- 28:45Speaker 3: What does that look like for LSU? Who are we
- 28:47Speaker 3: watching all of those things coming your way when we
- 28:50Speaker 3: jump back on OTB Live from Rouse's.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Off the bench.

- 30:00Speaker 2: that number one. Hey, man, what's up? This is Dominique
- 30:05Speaker 2: from Shady Notes.
- 30:06Speaker 1: 2007 champs, purple and gold to the core. This is
- 30:09Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, Baton Rouge's go-to
- 30:13Speaker 1: for all things Louisiana sports.
- 30:26Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in.
- 30:27Speaker 3: OTB here live from Rouse's on Burbank and Lee.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Come see us. Come hang out.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Matt's already crushed the breakfast bar.
- 30:36Speaker 2: You can as well. It is hot. It is ready.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I'm trying to see right now. Our guy's putting in
- 30:43Speaker 2: some work back there. Let's see what you got.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. He didn't laugh at my joke. He was
- 30:47Speaker 2: working with that crab earlier. What's he working on now?
- 30:50Speaker 2: Probably avocados.
- 30:51Speaker 3: You send me a reminder, although I don't know why,
- 30:54Speaker 3: that we're going to be at Rouse's every Friday. Because
- 30:56Speaker 3: I think it's the thing that scares you the most
- 30:58Speaker 3: in life is to be here and do this show alone.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Although Moose would have jumped in. You'd have been fine.
- 31:03Speaker 2: But every Friday, you send me a reminder that we're
- 31:05Speaker 2: at Rouse's. And today... You know, you mentioned that our
- 31:08Speaker 2: guys can be back. It's not a reminder.
- 31:11Speaker 4: I make little comments about my life, about how excited
- 31:14Speaker 4: I am, about different things.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and I was like, oh, I didn't know we
- 31:16Speaker 2: were doing sushi in the studio today.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:19Speaker 2: But you didn't laugh. No, I didn't laugh. I didn't
- 31:22Speaker 2: find it funny. Yeah, it was funny. It was funny adjacent.
- 31:24Speaker 4: I don't find joking about my crippling fear of doing
- 31:28Speaker 4: the show by myself.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I don't find that funny. You would not have done
- 31:31Speaker 2: it by yourself. Moose would have set it up. He
- 31:32Speaker 2: would have sat in, and you all would have been fine.
- 31:35Speaker 2: He would have done it by himself.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Moose would have been pretty mad because he's not getting
- 31:37Speaker 3: paid to do the show. He's getting paid to set
- 31:39Speaker 3: it up.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Moose would have done it by himself. I would have
- 31:41Speaker 2: walked out of here.
- 31:42Speaker 5: Why?
- 31:44Speaker 2: My guy. It's crushing it. Is that a pallet jack?
- 31:49Speaker 2: I recognize that sound anywhere. It was. I think he's
- 31:54Speaker 2: testing us right now. Is he testing us? I think so.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I appreciate it, actually. Oh, yeah, for sure. I respect
- 32:00Speaker 2: the game. I do, too. So I'd do it. Come on, Johnny.
- 32:05Speaker 2: You can do it. Hey, he's about to slide this
- 32:08Speaker 2: table for no reason. For sure. No doubt. Just to
- 32:11Speaker 2: see how loud it's going to be. And then back. Watch.
- 32:14Speaker 2: You're about to, hey, cover your ears up. Told you.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Certainly they can hear that, right? The airways, yeah. Okay. Hopefully. Yeah.
- 32:28Speaker 3: It's a power move. My guy's coming over here. He's
- 32:30Speaker 3: looked us dead in the eye when he's moved the chairs,
- 32:32Speaker 3: the table.
- 32:34Speaker 2: And let me tell you. There was zero reason. That
- 32:38Speaker 2: accomplished nothing. There was zero reason for him to move
- 32:41Speaker 2: any of it.
- 32:41Speaker 4: It's an empty table by where they put the flower
- 32:43Speaker 4: arrangements in the corner.
- 32:44Speaker 2: This guy loves McNeese, no doubt. No doubt. Had to
- 32:48Speaker 2: go to McNeese. Hey, I respect that. I'm not mad
- 32:51Speaker 2: at him either. I love McNeese. I wish them the best.
- 32:56Speaker 2: I really do. This Saturday? Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I mean,
- 33:05Speaker 2: they're hydrated, I'm sure. A little bit. No, I do
- 33:10Speaker 2: wish them the best. I mean, they don't. These teams
- 33:13Speaker 2: don't need to be playing each other. No. For sure.
- 33:16Speaker 4: And it's a different league. So I hope they play
- 33:18Speaker 4: really well. I hope they got some guys that are
- 33:21Speaker 4: going to make a play in Tiger Stadium. And that's
- 33:23Speaker 4: like a highlight of their football career.
- 33:26Speaker 2: That would be awesome.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Yeah, like Nichols came in a couple years ago. And
- 33:30Speaker 3: the running back who used to be the quarterback.
- 33:32Speaker 2: For John Curtis. He went out in glory in Tiger Stadium. Mm-hmm.
- 33:42Speaker 2: That guy was awesome. That guy was toting the rock
- 33:44Speaker 2: that day. He'll never forget that. Yeah.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Did you say today, like, you'd rather just donate money
- 33:50Speaker 3: to these schools and not play these games?
- 33:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Just give them the money.
- 33:56Speaker 4: We're probably paying one player.
- 34:01Speaker 2: More than they're going to get. Yeah. You don't want
- 34:05Speaker 2: to risk that game. I don't like these games either.
- 34:10Speaker 3: If you're going to play them, I'd rather them be McNeese,
- 34:15Speaker 3: Northwestern State, Nichols. I would rather them get it. But
- 34:21Speaker 3: to your point, it is a different level. What do
- 34:23Speaker 3: you accomplish from this? I understand that argument, too. Because
- 34:27Speaker 3: we also have enough teams in this state that play
- 34:32Speaker 3: on the same level you could play every year if
- 34:34Speaker 3: you wanted to. That's why LSU Tulane was for a
- 34:41Speaker 3: majority of our listeners, remember when that was a rivalry.
- 34:46Speaker 3: It was something that you played for. We have Louisiana Tech,
- 34:50Speaker 3: which we played this year. You have Louisiana Lafayette. You
- 34:52Speaker 3: have Louisiana Monroe. And again, they play in a lower conference.
- 34:56Speaker 3: I love the Sun Belt, Fun Belt. It's actually a
- 35:00Speaker 3: pretty good football conference, but Like you have those teams
- 35:03Speaker 3: that play on the four teams that play on the
- 35:05Speaker 3: same level as you.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Yeah. I'd rather rotate that. Yeah.
- 35:10Speaker 3: I think you get more out of that. And again,
- 35:12Speaker 3: I'm not throwing shade at the FCS schools. I mean,
- 35:14Speaker 3: I love the Southland conference. Like it's a good football conference,
- 35:17Speaker 3: but to your point.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:19Speaker 4: It's just, but it's a differently, but what is really
- 35:21Speaker 4: cool though, is these kids from an East do get
- 35:25Speaker 4: to come in and play in tiger stadium. And it's
- 35:28Speaker 4: going to be an awesome experience. They're going to be
- 35:29Speaker 4: awesome experience for their family. like there's a Baton Rouge kid.
- 35:34Speaker 4: He was a Dunham, Trevor Heyman, his family, like that's
- 35:36Speaker 4: awesome for them to have that experience. So I do
- 35:38Speaker 4: hope that McNeese comes in and has like, and makes
- 35:42Speaker 4: a play here or there, or, you know, has some
- 35:44Speaker 4: success because it's going to be a really cool experience
- 35:46Speaker 4: for them. But if I got, if I take that
- 35:48Speaker 4: whole thing, if I take that, just like, I think
- 35:51Speaker 4: it's going to be an awesome experience and I wish
- 35:53Speaker 4: McNeese the best for real, like with all seriousness from
- 35:56Speaker 4: just an LSU football perspective.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:59Speaker 4: I mean, we've talked about it all week. Like, This
- 36:01Speaker 4: is one of the games that you're like, okay, we
- 36:03Speaker 4: got to get through it. We got to get through
- 36:04Speaker 4: this game. We got to get through this game because
- 36:06Speaker 4: then the SEC, the road in the SEC starts after that.
- 36:09Speaker 4: So I'll be cheering for just like, you know, well-executed football.
- 36:15Speaker 4: I'll be cheering if like McNeese in the second half
- 36:17Speaker 4: or whatever makes a play and it's a Baton Rouge
- 36:20Speaker 4: kid or whatever it is. I think that'd be a
- 36:21Speaker 4: cool moment for them. But I want to see clean
- 36:24Speaker 4: football played.
- 36:25Speaker 2: By LSU.
- 36:26Speaker 4: I want the operation to be clean with a backup
- 36:28Speaker 4: quarterback in there.
- 36:29Speaker 2: I want to see a lot of different people play.
- 36:31Speaker 4: I want to see, and this happens every week for me,
- 36:34Speaker 4: even with starters, but I want to see a field
- 36:36Speaker 4: full of people I've never heard of playing in the
- 36:39Speaker 4: third and fourth quarter. And I think we'll probably get
- 36:42Speaker 4: to that point if things go like they should. But
- 36:47Speaker 4: this is certainly one of those games we got to
- 36:49Speaker 4: get through. You got to get through it and you
- 36:52Speaker 4: got to make it out the other side. And it's
- 36:55Speaker 4: even a little bit, it makes it even more scary
- 36:59Speaker 4: because of what injuries you've had. Like, it's like we've
- 37:02Speaker 4: only had one or two guys, like, dealing with some hammies,
- 37:04Speaker 4: soft tissue stuff. Like, it's, I have a different feeling
- 37:08Speaker 4: going into this game. But because of the injuries, because
- 37:10Speaker 4: of depth issues that we all know that LSU has.
- 37:13Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin's talked about it. Like, this is year one
- 37:16Speaker 4: of program building. Like, the first squad's going to be good.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Second squad, eh. But then, like, third squad there is.
- 37:25Speaker 4: Not one so like how do you manage the roster
- 37:28Speaker 4: how do you manage the rotation this week is going
- 37:30Speaker 4: to be interesting to see and I just want them
- 37:32Speaker 4: to be smart and you want them to get through
- 37:35Speaker 4: and the injury history in this season leading up to
- 37:37Speaker 4: this point is why I'm.
- 37:38Speaker 2: So like oh god let's just get through this.
- 37:41Speaker 3: One yeah I'm with you on that one and it's
- 37:44Speaker 3: a slippery slope because I'm like you also like get
- 37:47Speaker 3: in get out but also there's going to be players
- 37:50Speaker 3: that now you have to count on that don't have
- 37:51Speaker 3: a ton of experience. And I know we've kind of
- 37:53Speaker 3: gone back and forth on that this entire week. Like your,
- 37:55Speaker 3: your question is like, how much can you really get? Like,
- 37:58Speaker 3: is that experience good experience? And, and I hear you,
- 38:02Speaker 3: but I just wonder like linebackers, kind of the position
- 38:06Speaker 3: I'm looking at the hardest because like you lost your
- 38:09Speaker 3: one in four.
- 38:10Speaker 2: So now you have two, three, five, six available as
- 38:13Speaker 2: far as what your depth chart was. All right.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Well, if two and three don't play a ton, You
- 38:21Speaker 3: don't have another bot. But you're going to need five
- 38:24Speaker 3: and six at some point in this season. The injuries,
- 38:27Speaker 3: and we think Mike can come back, but we don't
- 38:30Speaker 3: know that. We don't know if he's actually going to
- 38:32Speaker 3: come back. We know that Ross is not coming back.
- 38:34Speaker 3: He's a torn ACL. So you're going to need those
- 38:38Speaker 3: players at some point this year. They're going to play
- 38:41Speaker 3: in a big moment. Somebody's going to tap their helmet
- 38:43Speaker 3: and say, Coach.
- 38:44Speaker 2: I need one.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Those guys are going in. But you don't have anybody
- 38:47Speaker 3: else to play in a game like this. And they're
- 38:49Speaker 3: going to get out there and they're going to get
- 38:50Speaker 3: some experience. But that's where your numbers are at some positions.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Are you in the camp that is, no matter what
- 38:59Speaker 4: it is, is any experience good experience?
- 39:02Speaker 2: I am. At certain positions. Quarterback would not be one
- 39:08Speaker 2: of them.
- 39:09Speaker 4: Quarterback definitely not one of them. Quarterback would not be
- 39:11Speaker 4: one of them. That's why preseason for me is kind
- 39:12Speaker 4: of dumb. Especially first preseason games. Yeah, we can go
- 39:15Speaker 4: run our base offense versus your base defense, but that's
- 39:17Speaker 4: not realistic.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Yeah. You know?
- 39:20Speaker 3: I do think that running back and linebacker, I do
- 39:24Speaker 3: think that any experience.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Is good experience.
- 39:27Speaker 4: I don't think on the offensive line it is. I'm
- 39:31Speaker 4: just randomly thinking about different positions. You just said running
- 39:34Speaker 4: back and linebacker is good. Any experience is good experience.
- 39:37Speaker 4: Because for running back.
- 39:37Speaker 3: You're going to get some dirty reads in a game
- 39:43Speaker 3: like this. And I think that's important because you're going
- 39:45Speaker 3: to get some dirty reads in big games, too.
- 39:47Speaker 2: And you kind of adjust to those. I see that. Yeah.
- 39:51Speaker 2: I think that can gain experience.
- 39:53Speaker 3: I think a linebacker, too, you're going to get some
- 39:55Speaker 3: dirty reads. How can you adjust to that? I think
- 40:00Speaker 3: those two positions, because if you're a receiver, they're playing
- 40:04Speaker 3: cover three, but they're not really playing cover three. What
- 40:07Speaker 3: kind of read are you getting? Main-to-main coverage, if they're
- 40:11Speaker 3: playing cover one, you're going to win that. quarterback god
- 40:14Speaker 3: knows what you're going to see right so i do
- 40:16Speaker 3: agree with you some positions yeah but i do think
- 40:19Speaker 3: running back and linebacker can benefit.
- 40:22Speaker 4: I was just thinking like the offensive line was the
- 40:23Speaker 4: first thing that came to mind i was trying to
- 40:26Speaker 4: think of another position where any experience could be good
- 40:29Speaker 4: experience and my first thought went to offensive line but
- 40:31Speaker 4: i was like wait a minute i don't think it
- 40:33Speaker 4: is i don't think any experience is good i think
- 40:35Speaker 4: you need to go against good fast competition because it
- 40:38Speaker 4: might i mean if it's slower competition not as strong
- 40:41Speaker 4: not as big does it slow you down a little bit?
- 40:47Speaker 4: Do you get more out of like a practice scrimmage?
- 40:49Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 40:49Speaker 4: And that's, we're just, we're debating air right now, but
- 40:53Speaker 4: just thinking out loud a little bit, but you know what?
- 40:55Speaker 2: I did find refreshing. I did find refreshing. Lane.
- 40:58Speaker 4: Kevin did address this and the coach's show last night.
- 41:01Speaker 4: Like he addressed, he like, he like head on. That
- 41:03Speaker 4: was like his first answer. He's like, this is a
- 41:04Speaker 4: hard week. Our players, it's hard week to keep them
- 41:07Speaker 4: motivated for these, these types of games.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Cause they see everything.
- 41:10Speaker 4: They know what the the point spread is like they
- 41:12Speaker 4: know what the line should be right he said this
- 41:15Speaker 4: is a hard week to keep them motivated but in
- 41:18Speaker 4: a program building you have to be consistent we have
- 41:22Speaker 4: to we have to got to prepare every single week
- 41:25Speaker 4: the same no matter who the opponent is and it
- 41:27Speaker 4: was refreshing to hear a coach address that yeah because
- 41:31Speaker 4: it's a real thing it's a human thing we all
- 41:33Speaker 4: have access to we all know what the score should
- 41:35Speaker 4: be that doesn't mean the score is going to be
- 41:37Speaker 4: that way Just like you said with Nichols two years ago.
- 41:39Speaker 2: I mean, like, you just don't really– I mean, it
- 41:41Speaker 2: can play out any way.
- 41:42Speaker 3: What was my man's name?
- 41:44Speaker 2: Guggenheim? I think so. That running back? He was toting
- 41:49Speaker 2: that thing. He was toting that thing. That was awesome.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Signed him and made a trade for him. That was fun.
- 41:53Speaker 2: All right. That was fun, right? That was fun. That
- 41:55Speaker 2: was fun. All right, when we come back, we're going
- 41:57Speaker 2: to give a list of players. All right, we're going
- 42:00Speaker 2: to give a list of players.
- 42:01Speaker 3: And we did this earlier in the week, but I
- 42:02Speaker 3: think mine– I've added players. to my list. We'll go around.
- 42:07Speaker 3: We'll go back to the capital city. We're all here,
- 42:10Speaker 3: but downtown in the capital city. We just want to
- 42:13Speaker 3: say capital city. We like saying it. Alondra and Tay-Tay
- 42:15Speaker 3: are going to get involved in this one as well.
- 42:17Speaker 2: We've got, what's the ticket? We've got the pontoon parlay

- 42:40Speaker 3: I have to drive on the basin tonight. I hope
- 42:41Speaker 3: it's not too packed. It's probably going to be U-High, Turlings,
- 42:44Speaker 3: whole deal. But they're there in the local communities always.

- 44:32Speaker 3: real quick, Alondra, Taytay, let's go back to studio. Give me,
- 44:36Speaker 3: it can be two players, it can be a player,
- 44:38Speaker 3: that you are going to be watching more than any
- 44:41Speaker 3: other player tomorrow night in Tiger Stadium.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Y'all got one offense, one defense.
- 44:46Speaker 5: Offense, want to see Roman Mothershed get a little bit
- 44:48Speaker 5: more reps at tight end.
- 44:50Speaker 2: Six foot five, moved him over from receiver.
- 44:52Speaker 5: Defensively, the other day, I went Zach Weeks, but I
- 44:57Speaker 5: want to see Richard Anderson get a little bit more
- 44:59Speaker 5: reps on that D-line as well.
- 45:02Speaker 2: That one. Alondra. I just want to see Landon Clark
- 45:08Speaker 2: score a million touchdowns. That's all I got for you.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Hell yeah, brother. I like that too. Matthew. Hell yeah, brother.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Let's see. Great answer, Alondra. Great answer. Because I'm going
- 45:19Speaker 4: to say Landon Clark as well. Well, I'm going to
- 45:21Speaker 4: say both. I'm going to say who's on Longstreet and
- 45:23Speaker 4: Landon Clark. Because that has a good opportunity to say
- 45:26Speaker 4: Sam Levitt didn't play.
- 45:27Speaker 2: And I don't want him to play. And I hope
- 45:28Speaker 2: he doesn't play. So.
- 45:30Speaker 4: I want to see– it's all about the quarterbacks. Everything's
- 45:32Speaker 4: all about the quarterbacks. I want to see backup quarterbacks play.
- 45:35Speaker 4: And I want to see them operate efficiently. And I
- 45:38Speaker 4: want to see some of the athleticism that we've seen
- 45:41Speaker 4: a little bit of with Landon, a guy that comes
- 45:44Speaker 4: in from Elon.
- 45:46Speaker 2: How does he operate this offense? Does he get a
- 45:48Speaker 2: little bit of experience?
- 45:51Speaker 4: Albeit, you know, like I said, I don't think it's
- 45:53Speaker 4: the greatest experience to get, but a little bit of experience.
- 45:57Speaker 4: just in case he is needed down the road in
- 45:59Speaker 4: a big-time moment. All right, so I'm going to go
- 46:03Speaker 4: like Tay-Tay. I'm going to go one on offense.
- 46:05Speaker 2: I think I'm going to go one on defense, offense,
- 46:10Speaker 2: backup running back. I don't care. I don't care who
- 46:13Speaker 2: it is.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Stacey Gage, Caden Durham, Harlan Berry, don't care. One of
- 46:17Speaker 3: y'all go out there and show out. One of y'all
