- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me
- 0:10Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes five eighty eight, five eighty nine,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and five ninety one. We are skipping five ninety which
- 0:21Speaker 1: is apparently some kind of crossover with Dragonball, which I
- 0:26Speaker 1: am tempted to watch. Let's see the titles meeting again
- 0:31Speaker 1: after two years, Loofy and Law the worst in the World,
- 0:35Speaker 1: a Scientist of terror, Caesar and Chopper's Fury the Master's
- 0:40Speaker 1: inhumane experiment. In these episodes, well, we find out that indeed,
- 0:49Speaker 1: it seems like Caesar is a bad man and I'm
- 0:52Speaker 1: disappointed in you, Travalgar Law. What are you doing here, buddy?
- 0:56Speaker 1: What is this? Welcome to spoil Welcome to the show everyone.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I am Natasha. Thank you very much to Florian for
- 1:23Speaker 1: commissioning this episode. Yet, y'all, this was like, so okay.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I've already talked about how upset and disturbing I find
- 1:37Speaker 1: any sort of like medical experimentation storylines, and we are
- 1:47Speaker 1: definitely going more into that territory than we did with Maria. Maria,
- 1:54Speaker 1: this same issue that I had with this type of
- 1:58Speaker 1: thing did come up, but it was so much more
- 2:02Speaker 1: like fantastical and the whole method was really very almost
- 2:11Speaker 1: PG because there's so little blood shed and there's so
- 2:15Speaker 1: little like it seems genuine suffering happening. It's more like
- 2:21Speaker 1: the outcome of having your shadow taken. That's the really
- 2:26Speaker 1: bad part. But what you are put through in the
- 2:28Speaker 1: meantime it didn't seem as like grim or gruesome as
- 2:35Speaker 1: I was worried that it might be. However, I feel
- 2:40Speaker 1: like what we didn't have in that storyline is what
- 2:43Speaker 1: we are getting in this one. Ye, guys, I am,
- 2:50Speaker 1: and I don't think I'm alone in this. I am
- 2:55Speaker 1: always made very uncomfortable when I remember how much control
- 3:03Speaker 1: chemicals have over my entire state of being. There is
- 3:11Speaker 1: a story that got made into like a short Netflix
- 3:14Speaker 1: movie and I can't remember if it was Spider Island something,
- 3:19Speaker 1: It doesn't matter, but it had I think Chris Evans
- 3:24Speaker 1: weirdly in the lead role. And a major part of
- 3:28Speaker 1: the storyline is this sort of experimentation of giving people,
- 3:34Speaker 1: through an intravenous drip, drugs that dramatically change their emotional state,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and you can make people fall in love with each
- 3:46Speaker 1: other or suddenly lust tremendously after each other to the
- 3:49Speaker 1: point that they can't control themselves. You can make people
- 3:51Speaker 1: suddenly incredibly violent towards one another or fearful or whatever.
- 3:57Speaker 1: And this person is testing out all of these drugs,
- 4:01Speaker 1: and the people who are here have signed up for
- 4:03Speaker 1: this experimentation, so it felt a little bit different to me,
- 4:06Speaker 1: but nevertheless, it seems pretty clear that nobody was predicting
- 4:09Speaker 1: it be as strong a change as it turns out
- 4:14Speaker 1: to be. So that was something that kept occurring to
- 4:19Speaker 1: me in this because jumping ahead in the last of
- 4:24Speaker 1: the three episodes here, we eventually find out that the
- 4:29Speaker 1: children have been purposely addicted to a stimulant and it
- 4:37Speaker 1: has been given to them every day, So that my
- 4:40Speaker 1: assumption is if they leave, they escape, the symptoms will
- 4:48Speaker 1: be such that not only will they want to come
- 4:51Speaker 1: back and get the drug that makes them feel better,
- 4:55Speaker 1: but they will also have a possibly believe the story
- 5:01Speaker 1: that they have been told of how they are sick
- 5:06Speaker 1: and they were brought here as like a means of
- 5:10Speaker 1: healing them. Because the kids here, it seems pretty clear
- 5:14Speaker 1: not only they, but also Brown Beard, they're buying into
- 5:20Speaker 1: this whole thing. You know that this is actually, oh see,
- 5:24Speaker 1: we are sick. He was telling the truth and I
- 5:29Speaker 1: can understand, especially with brown Beard, it's very clear that
- 5:35Speaker 1: this like kind of cult like figure that Caesar has
- 5:41Speaker 1: made himself into, it really would be difficult for people
- 5:47Speaker 1: who have seen him this way for so long to
- 5:50Speaker 1: turn a corner and realize that the dude is up
- 5:52Speaker 1: to no good. But guys, this is something that I
- 5:59Speaker 1: think I have such a strong reaction to, on top
- 6:03Speaker 1: of the medical experimentation thing and the like creepiness of
- 6:07Speaker 1: the type of person you would have to be to
- 6:10Speaker 1: do this. That's like my number one part of it
- 6:12Speaker 1: is Caesar Clown is listening through the door to somebody
- 6:17Speaker 1: who is experiencing these horrifically painful symptoms. At one point
- 6:21Speaker 1: it's the second of the two episodes, and is like
- 6:25Speaker 1: smirking to himself and very like casually asking questions about
- 6:31Speaker 1: how the guy is feeling. Do you also have headaches?
- 6:34Speaker 1: This person is suffering terribly, and Caesar is not moved
- 6:40Speaker 1: by it in any way, And that is part of
- 6:44Speaker 1: what has always made me so creeped out is the
- 6:48Speaker 1: to me, it's a really unfortunate realization as I get older,
- 6:53Speaker 1: the number of drugs that I take that are hugely
- 6:56Speaker 1: helpful to me and the way that they are a
- 6:59Speaker 1: direct result of experimentation by people who do not have
- 7:05Speaker 1: the same kind of empathy that I have. I recognize
- 7:08Speaker 1: that to a degree, we do need those people, but
- 7:13Speaker 1: there's a part of me that sort of feels guilty
- 7:15Speaker 1: for like profiting, so to speak, by getting like a
- 7:20Speaker 1: drug that helps me off of the suffering of other
- 7:24Speaker 1: people or other animals. You know, it makes me really
- 7:28Speaker 1: uncomfortable to consider. And like I said, I know that
- 7:36Speaker 1: a lot of the time these sorts of like testing
- 7:40Speaker 1: and like the people who care for the animals actually
- 7:43Speaker 1: can have a lot of empathy and are very careful
- 7:45Speaker 1: about it, but not always. And that I recognize that
- 7:50Speaker 1: the medical field does tend to attract people who have
- 7:54Speaker 1: lower empathy. It's like one of like the top three
- 7:58Speaker 1: career paths for people who have more like sociopathic tendencies.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So already Caesar Clown is like somebody that I feel
- 8:11Speaker 1: afraid of because he just doesn't have a line where
- 8:16Speaker 1: I have a line, and seems to really think that
- 8:20Speaker 1: any knowledge that he gains from whatever he does is
- 8:24Speaker 1: worth whatever it is that he sacrificed, which we eventually
- 8:27Speaker 1: find out this whole island had been this like really
- 8:32Speaker 1: lush sort of paradise and he destroyed it, and he
- 8:36Speaker 1: doesn't even consider it a failure because in his mind,
- 8:41Speaker 1: he just proved that he has this like incredible power
- 8:44Speaker 1: over life and death. So actually it was a success
- 8:50Speaker 1: of another kind. And so that is is my number
- 8:57Speaker 1: one thing with this medical stuff is why it creeps
- 8:59Speaker 1: me out, is like the people who do this sort
- 9:04Speaker 1: of thing, it's not even necessarily that they are bad people,
- 9:10Speaker 1: although I think in Caesar Clown's case, he is a
- 9:13Speaker 1: bad person, but I think that a lot of times
- 9:17Speaker 1: they are people who are genuinely trying to make the
- 9:21Speaker 1: world a better place overall, and they just have the
- 9:26Speaker 1: ability to set their empathy aside and see the big
- 9:30Speaker 1: picture and focus on that at the expense of whatever
- 9:35Speaker 1: is uncomfortable in their immediate surroundings or circumstances in a
- 9:41Speaker 1: way that, like I said, I think is necessary but
- 9:45Speaker 1: also makes me really really uncomfortable. And I think back
- 9:51Speaker 1: to the ways that we used to like treat people
- 9:54Speaker 1: who had mental illness, you know, or disabilities, and how
- 10:00Speaker 1: they underwent some horrific things, and that a lot of
- 10:04Speaker 1: the time that people doing those terrible things to them
- 10:06Speaker 1: thought they were doing the right thing. And something about
- 10:12Speaker 1: people being under the impression that what they're doing they
- 10:15Speaker 1: are doing is correct morally is much scarier to me
- 10:23Speaker 1: than somebody who is doing a thing because they know
- 10:26Speaker 1: it's wrong and that's what they like about it. Does
- 10:29Speaker 1: that make sense? Like a person who is a sadist
- 10:33Speaker 1: and is like I like seeing you in pain? That
- 10:36Speaker 1: is very frightening, But there is a certain distance from
- 10:42Speaker 1: that that I can have where like, not many people
- 10:44Speaker 1: are like that, we can all agree that that's a
- 10:47Speaker 1: bad person. People who are doing things that I find horrible,
- 10:54Speaker 1: but who really are trying to help and think they're
- 10:59Speaker 1: acting morally correct. How do you like argue with that?
- 11:03Speaker 1: How do you how do you cope with it? How
- 11:07Speaker 1: do you defend yourself against it? You know? So then
- 11:13Speaker 1: the second thing, like I started off saying, is the
- 11:17Speaker 1: effect that chemicals can have on who we are as people.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Always I find really like uncomfortable. I It's part of
- 11:31Speaker 1: the reason. Growing up both of my parents were addicts,
- 11:36Speaker 1: and one of my parents was actually a dealer. My
- 11:41Speaker 1: father dealt cocaine. Both him and my mother used cocaine,
- 11:46Speaker 1: and I saw my father ode when I was very young.
- 11:50Speaker 1: And so I had it in my consciousness how much
- 11:57Speaker 1: that kind of drug can take over your life and
- 12:00Speaker 1: make you live in a way that objectively, if you
- 12:02Speaker 1: stepped back, you would not want to be living this way,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but that there comes a point where you don't have
- 12:09Speaker 1: control over that anymore. So it took me a long
- 12:13Speaker 1: time to ever even just try weed. And that's the
- 12:16Speaker 1: only type of drug beyond like you know, antidepressants or
- 12:20Speaker 1: birth control that I have ever tried is like edible
- 12:25Speaker 1: marijuana and CBD and Delta nine and that sort of thing.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I've never tried any harder drug than that because I'm
- 12:34Speaker 1: still so afraid of it. But what resulted was that
- 12:37Speaker 1: I decided instead that I would medicate myself with food
- 12:41Speaker 1: because that felt safer to me, And ultimately I still
- 12:45Speaker 1: wound up in a position where my health was imperiled
- 12:48Speaker 1: and where I was on a path that I didn't like.
- 12:50Speaker 1: That if I stepped back and looked at it, I
- 12:51Speaker 1: would be like, I don't want to be here at all,
- 12:54Speaker 1: and still felt like I had no control over myself.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I just didn't foresee that that could happen with food
- 12:58Speaker 1: the same way. So joke's on me. But the concept
- 13:04Speaker 1: of drugs, being like the kids are being put in
- 13:09Speaker 1: a place where they have just been rescued, and they
- 13:13Speaker 1: are by the end of the third episode attacking their
- 13:18Speaker 1: rescuers because they are so driven by the need for
- 13:23Speaker 1: this drug. It feels really extreme in the moment, because
- 13:28Speaker 1: they of course have like a super strength that goes
- 13:31Speaker 1: along with this sort of breakdown that they have. But
- 13:34Speaker 1: also this is with certain drugs, especially heroine crack. What
- 13:44Speaker 1: happens it changes who you are as a person in
- 13:49Speaker 1: such a fundamental way that even once you get clean,
- 13:52Speaker 1: you aren't ever really the same person again. And I
- 13:57Speaker 1: find it so upsetting that this is something that we
- 14:01Speaker 1: have put out into the world, and also really frustrating
- 14:05Speaker 1: when I run across people who do not have empathy
- 14:08Speaker 1: for folks who struggle with drug addiction. I completely understand
- 14:13Speaker 1: that there is a line that we all have to
- 14:15Speaker 1: draw when you have family or friends who are struggling
- 14:19Speaker 1: with addiction in such a way that it is affecting
- 14:21Speaker 1: your life and they are dragging you down with them.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I fully support cutting somebody off if you feel like
- 14:32Speaker 1: you need to for your safety insanity. I'm not trying
- 14:34Speaker 1: to say that that is an inappropriate response. But that's
- 14:40Speaker 1: not really what I'm talking about. I'm talking about people
- 14:42Speaker 1: who have contempt for those who struggle with addiction, as
- 14:47Speaker 1: if they believe they themselves wouldn't act the same way
- 14:52Speaker 1: that if they were in that person's position, they would
- 14:57Speaker 1: be more in control of themselves, have more self respect
- 15:01Speaker 1: or discipline. It's not about self control beyond maybe the
- 15:09Speaker 1: impulse to try the drug for the first time. Once
- 15:13Speaker 1: you try something like that, there is a chemical reaction
- 15:18Speaker 1: that is unavoidable, and sometimes people will back away and
- 15:23Speaker 1: be like, I recognize that this is a bad road
- 15:25Speaker 1: and I'm not doing it. I have had a couple
- 15:27Speaker 1: friends who did try heroin and were just like, oh,
- 15:30Speaker 1: that was too good. I am never doing that again.
- 15:33Speaker 1: But that reaction still happened for them. And there is
- 15:39Speaker 1: a type of situation and it's not even necessarily a personality,
- 15:44Speaker 1: but it is a circumstance in life that some people
- 15:47Speaker 1: don't have a way to get away from, and sometimes
- 15:52Speaker 1: a type of pain that they are trying to escape
- 15:56Speaker 1: that Folks who get really judgy a addiction don't really
- 16:02Speaker 1: seem to understand or have any capacity for empathy regarding
- 16:08Speaker 1: and there you know, as a child of addicts who
- 16:14Speaker 1: eventually cleaned up and they both got sober and it
- 16:17Speaker 1: was fine. I know that you can turn things around,
- 16:20Speaker 1: but I also have seen how ugly that can get,
- 16:23Speaker 1: and how dangerous for like anyone in your immediate vicinity,
- 16:26Speaker 1: that can get, and the struggle that people who go
- 16:30Speaker 1: through this kind of addiction have because they don't want
- 16:32Speaker 1: to be in this either. So when, for example, at
- 16:37Speaker 1: a Thanksgiving dinner with Owen's family, somebody said that they
- 16:41Speaker 1: wished this guy had just like left his addict daughter
- 16:46Speaker 1: locked in a trunk somewhere and let her die, because
- 16:49Speaker 1: it would have been better for everybody involved. When I
- 16:53Speaker 1: encounter those people, I don't know what to say to them.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I sat there and stared at her open mouths for
- 16:59Speaker 1: a moment, because I truly I had no words in
- 17:04Speaker 1: that moment to express how disgusted I was, And she
- 17:08Speaker 1: tried to make some excuse for herself, and I just
- 17:11Speaker 1: looked away and decided I wasn't going to engage at all.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I felt I had made my stance on it quite
- 17:16Speaker 1: clear just the way that I looked at her and
- 17:18Speaker 1: looked away, and any more would have escalated into quite
- 17:23Speaker 1: an argument that we didn't need to have, because some
- 17:28Speaker 1: people are just lucky and don't know how unlucky folks
- 17:35Speaker 1: who wind up in the throes of an addiction can be.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Both of my parents suffered abuse as children, molestation, beating,
- 17:48Speaker 1: just all kinds of horrific violence of different kinds. For
- 17:52Speaker 1: both of them. It is no surprise that they wound
- 17:55Speaker 1: up where they did. And I'm not trying to say
- 17:58Speaker 1: that that's a surefied road toward addiction, but it certainly
- 18:03Speaker 1: causes a kind of trauma and pain that people try
- 18:05Speaker 1: to escape from. It is more likely and if you
- 18:09Speaker 1: grew up without having gone through certain types of battles,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you just don't understand the urge to drown yourself so
- 18:18Speaker 1: that you don't feel anymore, you know. So I know
- 18:22Speaker 1: that this is like a real heavy way to start
- 18:24Speaker 1: this episode. I'm just I found it so upsetting when
- 18:30Speaker 1: we eventually get to the point where we're understanding what
- 18:32Speaker 1: was done to these children, because it's not that far fetched.
- 18:39Speaker 1: And drugs being used to control people is a tried
- 18:47Speaker 1: and true method of evil people, whether it be the
- 18:53Speaker 1: United States government flooding crack cocaine into black communities, which
- 18:59Speaker 1: they have admitted they did that was a purposeful effort
- 19:04Speaker 1: to bring down an entire race of people because they
- 19:08Speaker 1: knew that drug was what it was, which is almost
- 19:12Speaker 1: a perfect storm of self destruction. Or whether it be
- 19:19Speaker 1: human trafficking and abduction and getting people hooked on a
- 19:24Speaker 1: drug so that they will continue to let themselves be
- 19:27Speaker 1: exploited so that they can continue to get the drug
- 19:30Speaker 1: that they need. This is real, and it, in my opinion,
- 19:40Speaker 1: is often not treated as the weapon that it is.
- 19:47Speaker 1: It's just seen as a moral failing of the person
- 19:50Speaker 1: who is addicted. And it's the same feeling as I
- 19:55Speaker 1: get when people are blamed for their own poverty. You know,
- 20:00Speaker 1: you don't know what a person's life is, what choices
- 20:06Speaker 1: they had, And it's very easy to say that you
- 20:09Speaker 1: would have made better choices because you had better choices.
- 20:16Speaker 1: What did they have? You have no idea, you know.
- 20:21Speaker 1: And there was a book that I covered way back.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I covered Parable of the Talents and Parable of the
- 20:29Speaker 1: Sewer by Octavia Butler, and the second book was so
- 20:37Speaker 1: disturbing to me because of a description of drug use
- 20:41Speaker 1: that was used to keep basically slaves in line. That
- 20:47Speaker 1: they were fitted with callers that could inject them with
- 20:50Speaker 1: something that caused pain if they disobeyed, or could inject
- 20:54Speaker 1: them with something that caused intense pleasure if they were
- 20:58Speaker 1: behaving in a way their owner wanted, so that they
- 21:00Speaker 1: would continue to try and please their owner even more
- 21:04Speaker 1: in order to get hits of the drug. Which that
- 21:07Speaker 1: thought of being driven to try to please a person
- 21:11Speaker 1: who is who holds that kind of power over me
- 21:16Speaker 1: is so repugnant. But also, I know very immediately possible
- 21:24Speaker 1: in our present, even though that series is set in
- 21:26Speaker 1: the future, that is something that is accomplished now, and
- 21:30Speaker 1: it's just impossible for me to really divorce what's going
- 21:35Speaker 1: on here with what I know has been and is
- 21:40Speaker 1: still going on in our real world. And it was
- 21:45Speaker 1: sort of interesting to me that we're getting into this
- 21:48Speaker 1: thing with this addiction with the children and these what
- 21:54Speaker 1: do you call it, the stimulants, because we just got
- 22:00Speaker 1: off of this whole thing with Hordy taking the drugs
- 22:04Speaker 1: that made him stronger and more powerful and YadA YadA.
- 22:08Speaker 1: And despite the fact that they all become withered and
- 22:14Speaker 1: it seems to have eaten away at their lives, by
- 22:17Speaker 1: the time we see them later, they have aged dramatically.
- 22:21Speaker 1: It doesn't seem like they were desperate for more of
- 22:27Speaker 1: the drug. There was no real withdrawal in terms of
- 22:34Speaker 1: a mental desperation. They clearly like would want more of
- 22:39Speaker 1: the drug to pump themselves up again. I don't know
- 22:41Speaker 1: whether that would have worked. You know, by the time
- 22:44Speaker 1: Hordy and his friends are in jail and they have
- 22:46Speaker 1: withered to old men, it's possible that even if they
- 22:50Speaker 1: were given another dose there was, it would have no
- 22:54Speaker 1: effect on them, or it would have a much more
- 22:56Speaker 1: muted effect because of the way that they had aged.
- 23:00Speaker 1: But I was sort of wondering if we were going
- 23:06Speaker 1: to get anything that was a little bit more specific
- 23:09Speaker 1: about how addiction works, because it didn't feel in that
- 23:14Speaker 1: storyline that Hordy was going after more drug because he
- 23:19Speaker 1: just desperately needed it exactly like they do have some
- 23:25Speaker 1: moments of him being weaker and wanting more of it,
- 23:28Speaker 1: but it wasn't like a compulsion. It felt much more
- 23:33Speaker 1: like I need my strength back because I have to
- 23:36Speaker 1: keep going with this takeover. Like the drug was a
- 23:39Speaker 1: means to an end. The drug was not the end itself.
- 23:44Speaker 1: So I think it's really interesting that now we are
- 23:48Speaker 1: getting into a storyline that has to do with a
- 23:51Speaker 1: very specific type of addiction, and I don't think it's
- 23:55Speaker 1: an accident that Oda has made the victims of this children,
- 24:00Speaker 1: because it's a lot easier for people to have sympathy
- 24:04Speaker 1: with little kids who have been fed a drug against
- 24:08Speaker 1: their will and without their knowledge and been put in
- 24:13Speaker 1: a position of becoming addicted than it is to sympathize
- 24:17Speaker 1: with somebody who took a drug to gain power and
- 24:21Speaker 1: wound up addicted in a way that they weren't expecting.
- 24:25Speaker 1: So it almost feels like Corty's storyline gave Oda an idea,
- 24:33Speaker 1: and then he realized that, like Hordy and his friends,
- 24:37Speaker 1: were not the proper storyline to use to demonstrate the
- 24:43Speaker 1: point he came up with, so he decided to sort
- 24:46Speaker 1: of set up a second thing and have it be
- 24:52Speaker 1: a whole new approach so that he could explore this
- 24:56Speaker 1: kind of chemical addiction without the judge that we would
- 25:00Speaker 1: ascribe to villains, you know, innocent children. It's just a
- 25:04Speaker 1: completely different ballgame. So yeah, I really this is just
- 25:09Speaker 1: a really sad, like we still don't really know what
- 25:14Speaker 1: it is that the kids are, how they're being experimented on,
- 25:19Speaker 1: because it doesn't seem to me that the stimulant itself
- 25:24Speaker 1: is the experiment. It seems like the stimulant is the
- 25:27Speaker 1: means to control the children, and that eventually we you know,
- 25:34Speaker 1: like we have them try to run away, or we
- 25:37Speaker 1: have them who knows what, and we have this drug
- 25:40Speaker 1: in place that we know they're going to need more of.
- 25:43Speaker 1: So it winds up in like becoming a kind of experiment.
- 25:50Speaker 1: But that wasn't the point, and I don't know what
- 25:56Speaker 1: it could be. Like one of the little girls says,
- 26:00Speaker 1: we used to all be normal sized, so evidently the
- 26:06Speaker 1: experimentation must have to do with making them bigger, but
- 26:11Speaker 1: I don't really know how, like to what end. I guess,
- 26:17Speaker 1: you know, is it just for so that you can
- 26:20Speaker 1: have giants to order for a private army or something.
- 26:25Speaker 1: By the end of these episodes, we come across a
- 26:28Speaker 1: giant footprint in the ground, which leads me to believe
- 26:32Speaker 1: that there are some children who grew up and are
- 26:37Speaker 1: somewhere on this island giant sized, and have they just
- 26:42Speaker 1: been like let free or was that footprint supposed to
- 26:47Speaker 1: be one of the cool brothers because they are meant
- 26:53Speaker 1: to be very large. But I don't know how many
- 26:57Speaker 1: experiments Caesar has done so all right, I'm sorry, I
- 27:03Speaker 1: know that, Like like I said, it was a heavy
- 27:05Speaker 1: start to this episode, and I still feel I had
- 27:11Speaker 1: to talk about it this way. I just don't know
- 27:13Speaker 1: what Oda is going to be doing with this, and
- 27:17Speaker 1: it's possible that it's not going anywhere like the place
- 27:21Speaker 1: that my mind goes. But you know, part of the
- 27:24Speaker 1: reason that y'all commission things is so that you can
- 27:26Speaker 1: hear my reaction and perspective. And I can't ignore the like,
- 27:34Speaker 1: gut visceral response that I have to things like this.
- 27:39Speaker 1: It's part of my whole understanding of the world, and
- 27:44Speaker 1: so it can't be avoided that I talk about it.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I also, like I said earlier in the intro, trevalgar
- 27:54Speaker 1: Law is evidently a part of this, and I just
- 27:58Speaker 1: wanted to think so much better of him, despite the
- 28:01Speaker 1: fact that he, like you know, took a bunch of
- 28:03Speaker 1: fucking pirate hearts to become a warlord. I can very
- 28:09Speaker 1: much rationalize to myself that probably they were bad men.
- 28:14Speaker 1: You know, there are plenty of pirates out there. We've
- 28:16Speaker 1: met very few other pirates who are good hearted people
- 28:22Speaker 1: like the straw Hats. Most of them have been very bad.
- 28:27Speaker 1: So it's easy for me to just be like, ah,
- 28:29Speaker 1: Trafalgar took their hearts because they were all bad, bad
- 28:32Speaker 1: men who needed to be punished and whatever. And I
- 28:39Speaker 1: now that I have seen what's going on with these children,
- 28:42Speaker 1: it's either like he is being lied to. I maybe,
- 28:48Speaker 1: like I said last time, the reaction that he has
- 28:50Speaker 1: to hearing all of these kids makes me sort of
- 28:53Speaker 1: think that he didn't know about the experimentation on children.
- 28:57Speaker 1: But if even if he didn't know about that experimentation,
- 29:02Speaker 1: I can't help but feel like you have to know though,
- 29:07Speaker 1: that Caesar Klown was experimenting period. Just because it's not
- 29:11Speaker 1: children doesn't make it excusable. I don't know. I really
- 29:18Speaker 1: don't know what to make of it. And also the
- 29:22Speaker 1: fact that, like so, he stole the hearts of a
- 29:25Speaker 1: bunch of pirates, But from what we see with Smoker
- 29:29Speaker 1: later on, they're okay, probably out there functioning in the
- 29:34Speaker 1: world with their just weird cube hole in their chest
- 29:40Speaker 1: from where he took the heart away. It doesn't seem
- 29:43Speaker 1: like they actually stop you from functioning or kill you
- 29:48Speaker 1: or anything like that. So even without explaining away all
- 29:55Speaker 1: all the men that he stole hearts, from were bad men.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Maybe they weren't even that harmed by this. You know,
- 30:01Speaker 1: I really don't know who can say. Maybe we'll run
- 30:05Speaker 1: into one of them eventually and find out. So all right,
- 30:11Speaker 1: let's uh, the moment that Lofy sees Trafalgar Law, he
- 30:20Speaker 1: calls him traffy, which I don't remember if that was
- 30:23Speaker 1: a thing before, But you guys, that cracked me up
- 30:25Speaker 1: so bad. And as far as Lufy is concerned, he
- 30:29Speaker 1: doesn't seem to care at all what side Trafalgar Law
- 30:33Speaker 1: is on at the present. He is much more coming
- 30:36Speaker 1: at this from the angle of I owe you because
- 30:39Speaker 1: you saved my life, regardless of what you're doing now,
- 30:42Speaker 1: that is a debt that I can't just you know, ignore.
- 30:48Speaker 1: And so whatever it is that Trafalgar is going to
- 30:52Speaker 1: ask from Loofy, I guess Lufy is going to give
- 30:58Speaker 1: him unless it, like the involves harming the children. I
- 31:02Speaker 1: just feel very uncomfortable with not knowing where Trafalgar fits
- 31:07Speaker 1: in all of this, with the fact that Lufy feels
- 31:09Speaker 1: indebted to him. You know, it's just really like red
- 31:12Speaker 1: flaggy for me right now. Just hey, Lufy, maybe don't
- 31:15Speaker 1: tell him how much you owe him and stuff repeatedly
- 31:18Speaker 1: yet until we're more certain what he feels about this
- 31:24Speaker 1: situation and how involved he is. Also, I will admit,
- 31:32Speaker 1: because I have a really hard time keeping track of
- 31:34Speaker 1: a lot of this stuff. Guys, that Trafalgar Law being
- 31:39Speaker 1: a war lord, I guess was supposed to mean, was
- 31:43Speaker 1: supposed to be like a bit of a shock that
- 31:46Speaker 1: in the past two years this is a new development.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I'll be real honest with you guys and tell you
- 31:52Speaker 1: that I had no memory of the fact that he
- 31:56Speaker 1: wasn't already a war lord. I could have sworn that
- 31:59Speaker 1: he and I just I think that there's just a
- 32:04Speaker 1: place that I put kind of higher level players in
- 32:09Speaker 1: the game, and warlord, I forget, is like a specific
- 32:15Speaker 1: ranking within the function of the government and the Marines,
- 32:20Speaker 1: And so I think of the warlord as just being
- 32:23Speaker 1: you have a certain power level or you know, you
- 32:27Speaker 1: have a certain influence or whatever, and I forget that
- 32:30Speaker 1: it's like, no, you actually had to be approved by
- 32:33Speaker 1: the Marines and get clearance essentially, So apparently this is new.
- 32:41Speaker 1: But like I said, I just want to be very
- 32:44Speaker 1: upfront with you guys and not pretend that I realized
- 32:48Speaker 1: this was new. So eventually to Shi is like running
- 32:57Speaker 1: over to Smoke who has collapsed on the ground. Smoker
- 33:02Speaker 1: is really out for a few minutes, and I was
- 33:07Speaker 1: starting to doubt my assertions from the previous episode that
- 33:11Speaker 1: he was likely going to be okay and started to wonder,
- 33:15Speaker 1: you know, like, oh, really, is this what we're doing?
- 33:18Speaker 1: Like is he actually hurt? But no, not only is
- 33:22Speaker 1: he evidently not hurt, but what travalgar law does. He
- 33:28Speaker 1: does a scramble between Tashii and Smoker. Now, y'all, I
- 33:37Speaker 1: really need Oda to answer for some things here. I
- 33:44Speaker 1: am so sorry, but it feels like the shambles is
- 33:50Speaker 1: just an excuse to linger on the titties of the
- 33:55Speaker 1: female characters. We have got Sanji in Nami's body, so
- 34:01Speaker 1: he is just constantly exposing her and agreeing with Brooke
- 34:07Speaker 1: to show her panties and take pictures in the mirror.
- 34:11Speaker 1: He's talking about how like they need to find someplace
- 34:14Speaker 1: with a camera. It's so creepy. And then we have Smoker,
- 34:20Speaker 1: who he himself just sits around with his fucking like
- 34:23Speaker 1: jacket undone. So once he is in Ta Shigi's body,
- 34:30Speaker 1: he just does the same thing, and it doesn't matter
- 34:33Speaker 1: that she's got titties on display, and she doesn't seem
- 34:37Speaker 1: to object to it either, which I did find interesting.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Like Namy, every time Sanci tries something, she is hyper
- 34:43Speaker 1: aware of the fact that he is crossing a line
- 34:48Speaker 1: and violating her privacy, but he doesn't really seem to
- 34:52Speaker 1: take issue with Smoker, And even when all of the
- 34:55Speaker 1: men are like lusting after her and being like this
- 34:58Speaker 1: is so uncomfortable, but also I like it. Both she
- 35:02Speaker 1: and Smoker are just yelling at them to focus, but
- 35:05Speaker 1: they don't. She doesn't seem upset at the exposure of
- 35:10Speaker 1: her body. It's more just the fact that the men
- 35:13Speaker 1: are so distracted by it. I just I was really,
- 35:20Speaker 1: you guys, I was really looking forward to just the
- 35:26Speaker 1: you know bit with people being in different bodies and
- 35:29Speaker 1: seeing them behave weirdly. And now I sort of have
- 35:33Speaker 1: to walk back my delight in this plot device, because
- 35:38Speaker 1: it feels now like we've got just an excuse to
- 35:43Speaker 1: expose the bodies of female characters. And when Smoker is
- 35:47Speaker 1: on camera, the way that it lingers on the titties
- 35:52Speaker 1: for a long time while he is talking, it was
- 35:58Speaker 1: really un conscionable, like come now, I'm I'm there, comes
- 36:07Speaker 1: a point where it's like, is this allowed? Like how
- 36:11Speaker 1: is this a children's show? I know it's not strictly
- 36:14Speaker 1: children's children, but you know what I'm saying, like this
- 36:16Speaker 1: is starting to veer into a territory that I think
- 36:19Speaker 1: we might need to recheck that rating. So anyway, I
- 36:24Speaker 1: just had to address that because with Sanji being in
- 36:28Speaker 1: Nami's body, I was already kind of feeling a way
- 36:31Speaker 1: about this, and then when it was like we were
- 36:34Speaker 1: doing a similar thing with Tashigi, I got very irritated.
- 36:39Speaker 1: It's just a different tone because it's not a purposeful
- 36:43Speaker 1: thing on Smoker's behalf. But it's also bizarre that she
- 36:48Speaker 1: doesn't ask him to not do this. I can't help
- 36:51Speaker 1: but feel we can't have ta Shigi put him an
- 36:54Speaker 1: argument about it with him, because if she did, Smoker
- 36:58Speaker 1: is the type that I think would acknowledge that maybe
- 37:02Speaker 1: this was not okay. You know that maybe he would
- 37:05Speaker 1: understand why she's uncomfortable. But as long as she doesn't
- 37:09Speaker 1: object personally, and as long as it's just the men
- 37:12Speaker 1: who are distracted by these titties, then it's then it's fine,
- 37:16Speaker 1: and he can just yell at the men and it's
- 37:18Speaker 1: not something that he himself needs to do anything about.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Really really weird dynamic on that. So see, I'm trying
- 37:30Speaker 1: to jump ahead here because there's a lot of like
- 37:33Speaker 1: that sort of business going on that I feel like
- 37:36Speaker 1: I can skip over pretty easily. Oh right. We also
- 37:41Speaker 1: find out eventually that our samurai friend is a devil
- 37:47Speaker 1: fruit eater and can apparently like make clothing appear. This
- 37:53Speaker 1: was a very I don't know what to think of this,
- 37:56Speaker 1: because he doesn't exactly say it's only clothing. He says
- 38:03Speaker 1: one day, I ate it fruit, an unusual one, and
- 38:05Speaker 1: since then I have been able to disguise myself and
- 38:10Speaker 1: others as I please. I know little of foreign clothing.
- 38:14Speaker 1: I hope this will suffice. Also, due to the nature
- 38:16Speaker 1: of the magic, the clothes will disappear once you remove them.
- 38:21Speaker 1: So saying that I can disguise myself and others, that's
- 38:27Speaker 1: a very specific statement, which feels like almost mister two
- 38:38Speaker 1: more than anything. And I don't think that it's supposed
- 38:40Speaker 1: to be. I think the disguise is really meant to
- 38:42Speaker 1: be a literal physical disguise and not an actual transformation
- 38:46Speaker 1: of people's features. But I just wanted to mention that
- 38:51Speaker 1: that is a vague enough description that potentially there are
- 38:56Speaker 1: other things that he could pull out of his hat
- 38:58Speaker 1: that we won't be ready for. And I am really
- 39:02Speaker 1: curious about that. But yeah, so, and it takes him
- 39:06Speaker 1: like so long to actually do this, despite the fact
- 39:10Speaker 1: that they're out here freezing their nuts off and like
- 39:13Speaker 1: they're in the you know, trying to Eventually somebody asks him, like,
- 39:19Speaker 1: what the fuck, and he admits, yet again, I just
- 39:23Speaker 1: wanted to see an omious titties. I couldn't bear to
- 39:25Speaker 1: cover them up. Oh my god, y'all, please, somebody come
- 39:31Speaker 1: and tell me that things of this nature eventually calmed
- 39:35Speaker 1: down a little bit. This show has always had a
- 39:40Speaker 1: very like male gazy, kind of sleazy vibe in this regard,
- 39:46Speaker 1: but I feel like the past couple arcs it has
- 39:49Speaker 1: been amped up a lot, and I don't like. I
- 39:55Speaker 1: don't know, Maybe it's just me, I don't know, but
- 39:57Speaker 1: it feels to me like we are getting a lot
- 39:59Speaker 1: more more of it than we did. It's a lot
- 40:02Speaker 1: more like a main part of the storyline rather than
- 40:05Speaker 1: it just being something goofy that Soanji's doing off to
- 40:08Speaker 1: the side. Like Sonji's health has been in danger because
- 40:12Speaker 1: of it. Now it's not just him like drooling over women,
- 40:15Speaker 1: it's him literally having blood loss that has to be
- 40:18Speaker 1: addressed in the plot because of it. So I'm starting
- 40:23Speaker 1: to lose my patience with it. I'm not going to
- 40:26Speaker 1: lie to y'all. I just just you know what I said,
- 40:32Speaker 1: Somebody tell me that this isn't what it's going to
- 40:35Speaker 1: be like I if you can't tell me that it's
- 40:39Speaker 1: going to chill out, I am willing to just accept
- 40:45Speaker 1: the warning that this is going to continue, But just
- 40:49Speaker 1: give me a heads up on what to expect, because
- 40:52Speaker 1: I am trying to just like sort of let it
- 40:56Speaker 1: wash over me and let it go. And as soon
- 40:59Speaker 1: as I can to a point where I feel like
- 41:01Speaker 1: I'm starting to let it go, another thing happens, like
- 41:04Speaker 1: two things happen right on top of each other, and
- 41:07Speaker 1: I start to be like Jesus Christ all over again.
- 41:11Speaker 1: But anyway, so let's see where are we going to? Oh? Right,
- 41:15Speaker 1: Eventually our samurai friend finds his legs because they re
- 41:19Speaker 1: encounter Loofy and he is so happy. And once he
- 41:25Speaker 1: finds out that Brooke has run across his torso he
- 41:29Speaker 1: runs off, and this is what leads to our group
- 41:32Speaker 1: getting split up yet again, because Sanji feels responsible for
- 41:38Speaker 1: this guy and knows he has no way to defend himself.
- 41:42Speaker 1: So if he comes up against any dangerous creature out there,
- 41:47Speaker 1: he doesn't have arms to hold a sword, there's nothing
- 41:50Speaker 1: to be done. He's only going to be able to
- 41:52Speaker 1: run away. So Soanjy and Brooke head out, and eventually
- 41:59Speaker 1: No chimes in, and she says that somebody else has
- 42:02Speaker 1: to go with. I can't even remember now who she says,
- 42:04Speaker 1: but it's clear that she does not trust Sanji and
- 42:10Speaker 1: Brooke alone together with her body. She does not like
- 42:15Speaker 1: this development at all. Oh right, she said Zorro, because
- 42:20Speaker 1: if Zorro and Soanji are fighting and arguing, they will
- 42:25Speaker 1: be too distracted to worry about her body. And actually
- 42:29Speaker 1: that was a pretty good thought. I thought that was
- 42:31Speaker 1: a smart way of dealing with it as much as
- 42:34Speaker 1: she can deal with it. But I'm sorry I'm jumping
- 42:39Speaker 1: around so much, you guys, But like I have touched
- 42:42Speaker 1: on a lot of the thing because like so much
- 42:45Speaker 1: of these three episodes is like repeated issues or conversations
- 42:50Speaker 1: about the body switches people's reactions to that, like the
- 42:58Speaker 1: stories about what's going on with the Master, So we're
- 43:03Speaker 1: going to like talk about that next because brown Beard,
- 43:10Speaker 1: who is really feeling a way about being used as
- 43:13Speaker 1: a horse. Essentially, he tells all of the straw hats
- 43:20Speaker 1: the story of everybody like suffering from this toxic gas
- 43:30Speaker 1: and how Caesar came in was able to get rid
- 43:34Speaker 1: of the gas and also give medicine to people who
- 43:39Speaker 1: were suffering from it and save them, and how much
- 43:43Speaker 1: everybody owes them, and he is attributing the explosion that
- 43:49Speaker 1: happened that caused this whole island to just get I
- 43:56Speaker 1: don't know how to like decimated. No, that means something's
- 44:00Speaker 1: specific with ten percent or something, but it doesn't like
- 44:03Speaker 1: get vaporized. You know, it's all the life on it
- 44:06Speaker 1: almost but I don't really know how to describe it.
- 44:09Speaker 1: But the explosion itself, he is saying that was doctor
- 44:13Speaker 1: Vegapunk and that the Master then came in and began
- 44:18Speaker 1: to help everybody, and I couldn't help at the time,
- 44:22Speaker 1: think like where did he come from? Though? How do
- 44:25Speaker 1: you know he didn't do it? And once we're back
- 44:28Speaker 1: with Caesar Clown, it's clear that explosion was him, and
- 44:32Speaker 1: so basically brown Beard is giving him credit for healing
- 44:39Speaker 1: people who are suffering because of something he also did,
- 44:44Speaker 1: which that it's the sort of thing that like you
- 44:50Speaker 1: run across on Twitter or some other cesspool social media
- 44:55Speaker 1: site where men will try and act like women should
- 44:58Speaker 1: be grateful that they gave us the right to vote,
- 45:02Speaker 1: and it's like, y'all took it. What do you mean
- 45:06Speaker 1: we had to fight to get it back. You didn't
- 45:09Speaker 1: give it to us out of the generosity of your hearts.
- 45:12Speaker 1: You took it unfairly, and then after years of struggle
- 45:18Speaker 1: and oppression, grudgingly allowed us to vote despite trying to
- 45:26Speaker 1: keep it from us. You don't get credit for that.
- 45:29Speaker 1: So that was sort of what I was feeling with
- 45:31Speaker 1: brown Beard, is like he is out here just being like, oh,
- 45:33Speaker 1: look at this wonderful man and all the great things
- 45:35Speaker 1: that he did, And even after everything with like the
- 45:40Speaker 1: children's reaction to having the withdrawals, he is still not
- 45:51Speaker 1: willing to believe that the Master as he calls him,
- 45:55Speaker 1: did anything wrong. He is really buying into the idea
- 45:59Speaker 1: that this is god to be just a misunderstanding, that
- 46:01Speaker 1: this is a drug they were being given to keep
- 46:03Speaker 1: them from being ill, like he told them, they are
- 46:06Speaker 1: sick and see this is just proof of that. But
- 46:09Speaker 1: he isn't asking any further questions about where Caesar Clown
- 46:13Speaker 1: came from, why did he find this island and decide
- 46:16Speaker 1: to help, Where was he before this? It's all being
- 46:19Speaker 1: blamed on doctor Vegapunk, who I think the story is
- 46:23Speaker 1: supposed to be that, like Vega Punk was killed due
- 46:27Speaker 1: to this failed experiment, And we keep running across these
- 46:34Speaker 1: weird places where Vega Punk has been and then left
- 46:40Speaker 1: behind like a very sort of strange situation, laboratory, whatever,
- 46:47Speaker 1: and I keep assuming that Vega Punk is dead, and
- 46:55Speaker 1: then we go on to another location where he has
- 46:57Speaker 1: also been. So my assumption now has to be that
- 47:01Speaker 1: Vega Punk is indeed alive and that we're going to
- 47:04Speaker 1: meet him eventually, We're going to come across him. But
- 47:09Speaker 1: I really don't know what to expect, because you guys
- 47:11Speaker 1: know that like at first, when I saw Caesar Clown,
- 47:12Speaker 1: I kind of thought he was Vega Punk, that something
- 47:14Speaker 1: happened to him as a result of a failed experiment.
- 47:18Speaker 1: And once we start the story about the explosion, I
- 47:22Speaker 1: started to again think, is that is Caesar Clown Vega Punk?
- 47:27Speaker 1: Is it a different name for the same person after
- 47:30Speaker 1: he has gone through this like terrible thing with this
- 47:33Speaker 1: experiment that changed his body into this weird flame. Is
- 47:37Speaker 1: he now going by a new name because he has
- 47:40Speaker 1: sort of lost his sense of self. But it doesn't
- 47:42Speaker 1: seem like that's the case. It seems like they are
- 47:44Speaker 1: two distinctly different people. And we even see later on
- 47:48Speaker 1: that Caesar clown has got sort of a human form,
- 47:51Speaker 1: so it's more and more likely that instead of him
- 47:56Speaker 1: just being in this weird flame body, he is actually
- 48:00Speaker 1: one of the Logia type devil thruit eaters and can
- 48:06Speaker 1: transform into this you know, sort of cloudlike thing, or
- 48:12Speaker 1: he can have a regular body and regularly like because
- 48:16Speaker 1: you know, he'll turn it. He's still got like bits
- 48:19Speaker 1: of himself sort of floating out, but he has got
- 48:22Speaker 1: black hair and this weird white face with a wide
- 48:30Speaker 1: mouth that was is it's really like kind of joker ish,
- 48:34Speaker 1: and he has hands with gloves. I'm not sure if
- 48:37Speaker 1: the gloves are a permanent thing or if it is
- 48:41Speaker 1: you know, supposed to be part of him being in
- 48:43Speaker 1: this laboratory, but yeah, we see him here like being
- 48:48Speaker 1: asked by one of his people who has come back
- 48:52Speaker 1: to him to please help because I am, you know,
- 48:56Speaker 1: feeling really ill after everything that happened with the straw hats,
- 49:01Speaker 1: and he's like, yeah, yeah, I'll give you some medicine.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Don't worry about it. So this dude takes it, and
- 49:11Speaker 1: it well, he takes it. It seems like the medicine
- 49:13Speaker 1: is meant to be a gas and maybe that's what
- 49:16Speaker 1: Vega Punk's not. Vega Punk Caesar Clown's body is made
- 49:19Speaker 1: out of his like poison gas. Perhaps it could just
- 49:22Speaker 1: be a result of the experiment gone wrong. We could
- 49:24Speaker 1: be doing a sort of like Marvel Villain situation. I
- 49:28Speaker 1: don't know yet, but the medicine is like locking this
- 49:33Speaker 1: guy in this tank and pumping whatever the gas is
- 49:37Speaker 1: in there until the dude is begging to be let out,
- 49:42Speaker 1: and he's asking him, like, are you seeing anything weird?
- 49:47Speaker 1: And he says that there's a giant snake. And when
- 49:50Speaker 1: he says that, Vega punk, because like I keep calling
- 49:56Speaker 1: him that, I'm sorry, guys, Caesar Clown. He asks, are
- 50:02Speaker 1: you seeing anything with a sort of like vibe of
- 50:06Speaker 1: I hope you are, Like I would really like to
- 50:09Speaker 1: know what it is that you're seeing. But when he says,
- 50:13Speaker 1: I see a giant snake. Caesar says, oh, well, that's
- 50:17Speaker 1: too bad, all right, that's enough, goodbye now, and he
- 50:22Speaker 1: just presses this button that shoots all of this like
- 50:27Speaker 1: gas up through a chimney on the outside. I couldn't
- 50:31Speaker 1: tell if this was him just killing the guy or
- 50:36Speaker 1: venting the gas, because the experiment didn't work and the
- 50:39Speaker 1: guy is still in there alive. I don't really know
- 50:43Speaker 1: what is supposed to have happened there, but it seems
- 50:48Speaker 1: to me that he wants this gas to induce hallucinations,
- 50:53Speaker 1: but that the snake isn't the thing he was going for.
- 50:56Speaker 1: And I don't really know what it could be that
- 50:58Speaker 1: he wants so anyway, and there's the moment where we
- 51:05Speaker 1: have in Tashigi's body, we have Smoker talking about how
- 51:10Speaker 1: Vega Punk was the one blamed for the explosion and
- 51:14Speaker 1: the chemical weapon. When Caesar Clown's involvement came to lay
- 51:18Speaker 1: after the explosion, he was arrested, but using his formidable ability,
- 51:24Speaker 1: he escaped from a prison ship and his location has
- 51:27Speaker 1: been unknown since. If my suspicions are correct, and Caesar
- 51:31Speaker 1: is back here on this island conducting experiments, we have
- 51:35Speaker 1: to stop him. So evidently Smoker is aware, and I
- 51:41Speaker 1: would like for him to go and inform Brownbeard so
- 51:45Speaker 1: that that man can stop worshiping the Master as some
- 51:48Speaker 1: sort of hero. And it's so funny to me the
- 51:52Speaker 1: way that this is like set up, because when brown
- 51:58Speaker 1: Beard tells the story to the Strokes, of like the
- 52:02Speaker 1: way that Caesar Clown showed up, they immediately just begin
- 52:06Speaker 1: to fawn over the Master and sing his praises instantly
- 52:12Speaker 1: and be like, what an amazing man. And the fact
- 52:16Speaker 1: that they keep calling him the Master is so uncomfortable,
- 52:19Speaker 1: you guys, I really do not like it. Look, it's
- 52:22Speaker 1: very cult like, which y'all know that's gonna make me uncomfortable.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Like cult stuff is always wild to me. I fully
- 52:31Speaker 1: understand how that mindset can be fallen into. I really
- 52:36Speaker 1: get it, you know. I love Beyonce in a way
- 52:39Speaker 1: that some may argue verges on the cult like. But
- 52:46Speaker 1: it is weird how immediately they all are just like, oh,
- 52:52Speaker 1: obviously this dude is some saint like savior, and it
- 52:57Speaker 1: makes sense that the people who are doing are the
- 53:00Speaker 1: ones that are the most gullible, like us Up and Chopper.
- 53:04Speaker 1: But I did kind of want I think actually it's
- 53:09Speaker 1: Chopper and maybe Sanche. I think maybe it's us up
- 53:13Speaker 1: that kind of is like, actually, we don't know enough
- 53:15Speaker 1: about this guy. Somebody chimes in and essentially tells them
- 53:19Speaker 1: to calm the fuck down. They are getting way too
- 53:22Speaker 1: enthusiastic when they don't know the whole story. So it
- 53:25Speaker 1: didn't go completely unremarked, but I was sort of laughing
- 53:29Speaker 1: because clearly what we were trying to do there was
- 53:31Speaker 1: set up that everybody believed the story brown Beard told,
- 53:34Speaker 1: so that once we start to understand the real situation,
- 53:37Speaker 1: it would be a totally different energy and we would
- 53:41Speaker 1: see that crack in their faith the same way that
- 53:45Speaker 1: we would with brown Beard. But it just doesn't really
- 53:49Speaker 1: totally work for me. Having brown Beard here is enough.
- 53:52Speaker 1: I don't need the straw hats to also like drink
- 53:55Speaker 1: the kool aid, so to speak. But yeah, So the
- 54:00Speaker 1: way that the second episode ends is Caesar clown saying that, like,
- 54:05Speaker 1: none of the useless idiots in the world government know
- 54:08Speaker 1: what they're talking about. A failed experiment. I developed a
- 54:12Speaker 1: weapon that killed an entire island. How is that anything
- 54:16Speaker 1: but a success? I proved myself the most efficient killer
- 54:21Speaker 1: in the world, didn't I? And when he you know
- 54:26Speaker 1: what I'm realizing. He like sort of backs away from
- 54:30Speaker 1: the camera at this point, and we see the black
- 54:33Speaker 1: hair and he's got this sort of weird like yellow
- 54:35Speaker 1: and black stripee. I'm not sure if that's a jumpsuit
- 54:39Speaker 1: or if it's like tights with like a tunic over it.
- 54:42Speaker 1: He's also got horns and his rope, for lack of
- 54:49Speaker 1: a better word, says gas gas on it, so I
- 54:51Speaker 1: guess it's the gas gas fruit. I maybe that's what
- 54:56Speaker 1: it is. But yeah, he says, soon it'll be my
- 55:00Speaker 1: day and they'll know I'm the greatest scientist who ever lived.
- 55:04Speaker 1: And that is how the second episode of the three ends,
- 55:09Speaker 1: while his green bird lady is just over here taking
- 55:15Speaker 1: notes utterly ignoring him, which I found fucking hilarious. She
- 55:20Speaker 1: just doesn't pay any mind to him whatsoever. And I
- 55:26Speaker 1: kept waiting for her to chime in because he's sort
- 55:29Speaker 1: of yelling at her, you know, Like the scene starts
- 55:31Speaker 1: with him she says that this experiment he just did
- 55:35Speaker 1: with this guy was another failure, and he's like, how
- 55:39Speaker 1: dare you? So I kind of thought she would eventually
- 55:41Speaker 1: be like, well, you know what I meant, or even
- 55:45Speaker 1: sort of be like I'm so sorry to have offended you.
- 55:48Speaker 1: Of course you're the best, you know, like whatever. But
- 55:52Speaker 1: instead it's just her continuing as if he kind of
- 55:57Speaker 1: does this sort of like flambuoyant drama queen posturing every day,
- 56:03Speaker 1: a few times a day, and she has gotten so
- 56:06Speaker 1: used to it that she barely hears it anymore, like
- 56:08Speaker 1: she has learned to completely tune him out. And I
- 56:11Speaker 1: think that is very funny and almost makes me want
- 56:14Speaker 1: her to be like our main villain and not him,
- 56:17Speaker 1: because it is too like the idea that he really
- 56:22Speaker 1: fancies himself the genius and maybe she's the one that's
- 56:27Speaker 1: like the brain's behind the operation. I would be fully
- 56:30Speaker 1: willing to buy into that notion. You know, she seems
- 56:35Speaker 1: a little bit more in control of herself. That's all
- 56:37Speaker 1: I'm saying. This guy is unhinged, clearly. So all right,
- 56:43Speaker 1: let's jump into the third episode. And I've talked about
- 56:46Speaker 1: most of this already, so I'm not too worried because
- 56:48Speaker 1: I'm out of time. But most of the stuff that
- 56:52Speaker 1: we have that I've talked about, the only thing that
- 56:55Speaker 1: we eventually get into is that Frankie in Childpper's body
- 57:00Speaker 1: transforms without intending to. So there's a whole thing where
- 57:05Speaker 1: he's just like this big fur ball that the kids
- 57:07Speaker 1: are rolling around, and then the samurai having run off
- 57:12Speaker 1: and them having to figure out what they're going to
- 57:15Speaker 1: do about the uh the you know, the fact that
- 57:18Speaker 1: he can't defend himself after he has helped them, And
- 57:22Speaker 1: then we start to get into the kids suddenly taking
- 57:29Speaker 1: ill and beginning to collapse, and the description of the
- 57:33Speaker 1: candy and how they would get it at the same
- 57:35Speaker 1: time every day, and Chopper manages to take a test
- 57:39Speaker 1: of their sweat and finds trace elements of this like
- 57:43Speaker 1: this uh not steroid stimulant. So there was something about
- 57:53Speaker 1: this that I wanted to mention. Oh my god, I
- 57:55Speaker 1: forgot about Robin because Frankie keeps talking out of Chopper's
- 57:59Speaker 1: body and Rob at one point it's just like, please
- 58:01Speaker 1: do not speak. Do not speak again, because you are
- 58:05Speaker 1: freaking me the fuck out. And I did think that
- 58:08Speaker 1: was very funny. Yeah, So this kid the one who
- 58:12Speaker 1: first started to go into withdrawals when Lufy tells him,
- 58:17Speaker 1: because at first Lufy is like, you need that candy,
- 58:19Speaker 1: I'll go get it for you, and Chopper has to
- 58:21Speaker 1: come in and be like dude, no, you can't go
- 58:23Speaker 1: and get that, that it's going to make everything worse.
- 58:26Speaker 1: They have to learn to live without it. That we
- 58:29Speaker 1: have to like let them detox. Essentially, the kid tells Lufy, like,
- 58:35Speaker 1: you fucking told me you would go and get it,
- 58:37Speaker 1: and he starts to change. His face gets really red,
- 58:40Speaker 1: his eyes start to get bloodshot, and he gets the
- 58:43Speaker 1: strength and just throws Lufy into like a cliff wall,
- 58:47Speaker 1: and he picks up a pipe and begins throwing it.
- 58:50Speaker 1: Like he begins to really kind of lose it, and
- 58:54Speaker 1: eventually all of the kids start to have a tantrum.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Like I don't really even know what to call it,
- 59:04Speaker 1: because they are going into withdrawals, but it's also very violent,
- 59:10Speaker 1: which withdrawals I guess they can be. But that's not
- 59:13Speaker 1: the typical reaction that you hear about. Usually it's sort
- 59:18Speaker 1: of disabling. And eventually Oosup pulls out a sort of
- 59:28Speaker 1: for his what do you call it, the slingshot. He
- 59:30Speaker 1: pulls out something that sends all of the kids to sleep,
- 59:34Speaker 1: so that for now they are going to be able
- 59:37Speaker 1: to detox while they are unconscious, And like Chopper is
- 59:45Speaker 1: really really upset over the fact that this was done
- 59:50Speaker 1: to these fucking children. Chopper, by the way, is still
- 59:54Speaker 1: in Sanjy's body, but Chopper says, we have got to
- 59:57Speaker 1: do something. These kids want to go home, Like we
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: have to figure out a way to get them out
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: of here, and Lufy is like, well, we have to
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: just put them on the ship and get them home,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: and Chopper is saying like that, we can't just waltz
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: out it here. That's not how this is going to work.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: And Robin points out we don't actually know what could
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: happen if they don't get more of that drug, Like
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: we have got to track down whoever is responsible for
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: this because taking them away actually could wind up being
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: really dangerous for them, which was a good point. So
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: the episode ends with brown Beard thinking like I'm still
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I still believe in you, Master, with Soanjy, zorro and
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Brooke going to try and rescue the the samurai and
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: help him, and with Caesar clown like crowing over it
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: like the heart that, oh my god, Trafalgar brought him.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: He is so excited to have it again. Trafalgar, what
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: are you doing? What are you doing? Like, even if
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: you don't know about the children, you're handing this fucking psycho.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: This guy's heart. What do you think is gonna What
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: do you think he's gonna do with it? Uh? And
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Caesar says, I have a plan to get rid of
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: the straw Hats and retrieve the children. Watch, those brats
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: will beg to come back. We won't even have to
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: lift a finger, you'll see. And La just says hunh
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, come on, dude, really this
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: is the extent. He says it might be overkill, but
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: I am sending the Snow Mountain assassins after the crew.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: And it says in the subtitles the Snow Mountain, my
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: loyal Minions, the yetty cool brother And we don't actually
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: see their faces. They we just sort of see, like
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: the silhouette from behind, and then eventually we get a
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: color look at them, but it's still from behind, and
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: they just have like a lot of white fur going on,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: and they're talking about how easy it will be to
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: deal with the rest of the straw Hats. And we
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: see Brooke, Nami and Sanji all or no, Brooke, Sanji
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: and Zoro. Sorry, I'm getting Namy and Sonji confused because
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: the body switch they're already knocked out on the ground
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: and the brothers are like, yeah, we'll be able to
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: handle them, no problem, and we'll do it in a
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: cool way. He says, we'll do it in a cool way,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: and I fell out laughing so loud, you guys. I
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: don't know why that got me so hard, but it
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: was just such a funny way to say it so literally.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: It felt like a six year old you know. I
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: really enjoy that. So anyway, Okay, I have to wrap
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: this one up over time, but I enjoy these. I
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: just this this storyline is kind of disturbing, you guys,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: It really is, so I hope we get some things
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: resolved soon. All right, Thank you again to everybody for listening,
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: and until next time to the Loo motherfuckers. That was
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: an Unspoiled Network podcast.
