- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering One Piece episodes eight ninety one through eight ninety three.
- 0:17Speaker 1: We are entering Wanoh. Episode eight ninety one's on a
- 0:23Speaker 1: whole other page, so I'm not reading that title. Sorry,
- 0:26Speaker 1: crunchy roam makes it hard. But eight ninety two is
- 0:28Speaker 1: the land of Wano to the Samurai Country where cherry
- 0:31Speaker 1: blossoms flutter, and eight ninety three is Otala appears Loofy
- 0:35Speaker 1: versus Kayto's army. A little misleading because it's not the
- 0:39Speaker 1: whole army. Welcome to spoil Me. Welcome to the show. Everyone.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I am Natasha and I'm Floia.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Yay, Floren's here for another one to B episode. I'm excited.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I'm always so excited when I see these on the schedule.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Show.
- 1:16Speaker 1: All right, why did you choose these episodes to guests on?
- 1:22Speaker 1: We know, but still tell us.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Well, we Enternto, and I mean general, it is one
- 1:29Speaker 2: of my favorite islands to enter. Like this whole process
- 1:32Speaker 2: that they have to dore, I love it. I love
- 1:34Speaker 2: the whole sequence and also like not this specific group
- 1:38Speaker 2: of episodes. But you started One Piece in twenty twenty one,
- 1:43Speaker 2: and we were in this We were in this arc,
- 1:49Speaker 2: like we were not exactly here further on, but this
- 1:53Speaker 2: was the arc wow when.
- 1:56Speaker 1: You started wild Okay, so.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I don't know, it's kind of like also not a
- 2:01Speaker 2: full full circle moment, but kind of a little bit
- 2:04Speaker 2: for me please m h. And yeah, I enjoyed it.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I mean these episodes. I also enjoyed this arc. And
- 2:13Speaker 2: I already told you however in the discord, and this
- 2:17Speaker 2: is going to be another long one. This is going
- 2:20Speaker 2: to be.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Did you say this is the longest one?
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, this is the longest arc in all of one Piece,
- 2:27Speaker 2: So one O one O will be right, long ride,
- 2:31Speaker 2: enjoyable one better than Dressers in my opinion, Okay, yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It's yeah, it's so like when it when it comes
- 2:43Speaker 1: to dress Rosa. It started off so strong that my
- 2:47Speaker 1: instinct is always to be like dress Rosa wasn't so bad,
- 2:49Speaker 1: but I did start to get quite irritated. But like
- 2:52Speaker 1: by the end, so you know.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's not a bad arc Resource, but
- 2:56Speaker 2: Resource is also a lengthy arc. Kind of by the
- 3:01Speaker 2: end of it, it's kind of like, yeah, how did
- 3:05Speaker 2: you like these three episodes?
- 3:07Speaker 1: I really liked them. It's just such a departure in
- 3:10Speaker 1: style overall. You know, I was really not expecting everything
- 3:17Speaker 1: about Wano to be like so stylized and traditional and like,
- 3:24Speaker 1: it feels like there's lots of references as well happening,
- 3:27Speaker 1: but that I don't have context for because I haven't
- 3:30Speaker 1: really consumed all that much Japanese content, So I think
- 3:35Speaker 1: some of it is just like style references and you know,
- 3:40Speaker 1: the very classic architecture and titling and and what's the
- 3:49Speaker 1: word I want career paths and whatnot. But I really
- 3:57Speaker 1: have to say, like the interstitials even having different instruments
- 4:00Speaker 1: playing them, because it's like, you know, the I don't
- 4:04Speaker 1: know the names of the instruments actually now that I'm
- 4:06Speaker 1: saying that, because there's like the guitar string and then
- 4:08Speaker 1: there's a flute, and it's that but with entirely different instruments.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And I was just like, Oh, that's fun, that's delightful.
- 4:21Speaker 1: And our characters are doing different movements we like normally
- 4:25Speaker 1: there's sort of an assigned image in the background with
- 4:30Speaker 1: like one of our people over it, and depending who
- 4:34Speaker 1: it is, the music will be different, Like if it's
- 4:38Speaker 1: I think Sanjy, it'll be like war War you know
- 4:45Speaker 1: what I'm talking about. So I haven't seen one of
- 4:48Speaker 1: those with the new instruments, so I'm interested to see
- 4:53Speaker 1: that as well. But overall, it's just like everything feels
- 4:57Speaker 1: so very different that it's very fun because as we're
- 5:02Speaker 1: getting introduced to everything, I'm having to like adjust expectations
- 5:06Speaker 1: and just also my my like understanding because I wasn't
- 5:13Speaker 1: expecting everybody to basically be undercover. Mm, so that's surprising.
- 5:20Speaker 2: We get, we get a lot. I just before we
- 5:26Speaker 2: go for the in this whole thing is just you
- 5:29Speaker 2: can see what that was, like, Okay, it's time. Basically
- 5:32Speaker 2: he has drawn so many inspirations from different countries and
- 5:35Speaker 2: he's like, okay, it's time for Japan, and he went
- 5:39Speaker 2: all out. He truly went all out. Yeah, and you
- 5:43Speaker 2: can tell that this is basically his home in a way,
- 5:45Speaker 2: like this is where you can see like in a
- 5:48Speaker 2: way maybe the proudest or like the most knowledge in
- 5:51Speaker 2: There's so many little things, as you said, and I
- 5:55Speaker 2: love that it is. It is great. I cannot tell
- 5:59Speaker 2: you about everything that because I don't know everything, but
- 6:02Speaker 2: there are so many cool little details here.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the sort of thing that I bet
- 6:07Speaker 1: somebody out there has done like a a really granular
- 6:13Speaker 1: breakdown of like everything that is referenced and all of
- 6:17Speaker 1: the things that are slightly changed, and I would be
- 6:20Speaker 1: super interested in seeing that quantified just as the art
- 6:25Speaker 1: goes on. But I really get the sense this is
- 6:32Speaker 1: super fun for Oda. There's just a feeling of like
- 6:35Speaker 1: I am having a really good time here, you know.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And I'll be honest the whole thing with one, Oh,
- 6:42Speaker 1: I just didn't really care about because like the two
- 6:45Speaker 1: guys that we meet, we've got a what's his name,
- 6:48Speaker 1: Momo what's his full name?
- 6:50Speaker 2: Though Momo moment is like the last name.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Okay, and his dad who's like, sorry, yes, that's right.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I'm so in the habit of no, it's all good.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Kinemon Kinimon is So he is very funny on a
- 7:17Speaker 1: lot of levels. But also I found him to be
- 7:21Speaker 1: irritating because he was gross about women in the same
- 7:24Speaker 1: way that everybody almost is. And so a part of
- 7:29Speaker 1: me just kind of was like anything involving this guy whatever,
- 7:33Speaker 1: And I really appreciate that. Immediately I am feeling like, oh,
- 7:41Speaker 1: I don't this guy really has nothing to do with
- 7:43Speaker 1: it anymore. I'm sure he's going to come very much
- 7:46Speaker 1: into play eventually, but I like the fact that we're
- 7:49Speaker 1: just getting to see everything operating without him even being involved.
- 7:53Speaker 1: So I have a chance to get to the note
- 7:55Speaker 1: wana and like it without it being influenced by not
- 7:59Speaker 1: liking him. So so far, so good on that front.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Also, absolutely, before we I am start with the first episode,
- 8:11Speaker 2: I just want to say another yeah, like me in
- 8:15Speaker 2: ways watching this show for the first time because the
- 8:18Speaker 2: Raverie where we just left, you were like the straw
- 8:22Speaker 2: Heads I don't know how, but they will show up somehow,
- 8:24Speaker 2: And I was the exact same way. I didn't And
- 8:28Speaker 2: now we're gone. It's it's for now. For now, it
- 8:32Speaker 2: will come back, but for now it's done for us.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, I'm kind of delighted to be wrong
- 8:39Speaker 1: about that, because I really thought it was going to
- 8:41Speaker 1: be a whole other thing that we were going to
- 8:44Speaker 1: get before we even wound up in one of that
- 8:46Speaker 1: there was going to be a kind of interruption, you know,
- 8:49Speaker 1: but it was just such a big grouping of people
- 8:52Speaker 1: and so much to keep track of that adding the
- 8:55Speaker 1: straw hats creating chaos, I was a little bit like
- 8:58Speaker 1: what would even be the plot, Like what would they
- 9:02Speaker 1: be trying to do. So, yeah, I'm glad that I
- 9:05Speaker 1: was wrong about it. We're doing a whole other thing.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Just I was fully satisfied. It's fine. I love that
- 9:11Speaker 1: you thought that too, though. It makes me feel less
- 9:13Speaker 1: stupid because I feel like that's just of course, we're
- 9:17Speaker 1: all going to assume they crash every party pretty much,
- 9:21Speaker 1: you know.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Like, so before we get Touvano, we have the journey
- 9:28Speaker 2: to it. I mean to summarize a little bit from
- 9:34Speaker 2: the beginning, they get like the newspaper and Sanji and
- 9:39Speaker 2: Choppa cut it up.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Chopper cuts it up first, and Sanji is really salty
- 9:45Speaker 1: about it until Chopper gives him the princess part of
- 9:48Speaker 1: the paper. But yeah, so the fact that they're just
- 9:53Speaker 1: hearing about the reverie at this point again, I'm still thinking, oh,
- 9:57Speaker 1: they're finding out this is happening. So now we're turning
- 9:59Speaker 1: in heading in that direction, or something will be mentioned
- 10:04Speaker 1: or you know, like maybe there's an outdated mention of
- 10:08Speaker 1: the fact that Shiro host she was taken prisoner and
- 10:11Speaker 1: was gonna be sold as a slave, and Lufy thinks
- 10:13Speaker 1: he has to rescue her, but actually that's dealt with.
- 10:16Speaker 1: But he doesn't know it yet, you know what I mean,
- 10:18Speaker 1: which would have sucked probably, but it was just what
- 10:22Speaker 1: I thought. So yeah, again, very glad to be wrong
- 10:25Speaker 1: about it.
- 10:28Speaker 2: And I don't know what the I mean, multiple things happen.
- 10:33Speaker 2: It is kind of like the wet wetter turns the
- 10:36Speaker 2: water seems to be different. And also this octopus sneaks
- 10:41Speaker 2: on board.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Yes, this octopus just chilling in the background at one
- 10:45Speaker 1: point where we can see it, but Carrot has still
- 10:49Speaker 1: not spotted. It was cracking me up because I was
- 10:54Speaker 1: literally looking at it like anybody gonna anybody gonna notice it.
- 10:59Speaker 1: And I think that later once one gets noticed, it's
- 11:02Speaker 1: not even the first one that like the first one
- 11:04Speaker 1: was black, the one that gets noticed later is white,
- 11:08Speaker 1: so I think there's like another unless it was black.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Like the animation style is just meant to be like
- 11:13Speaker 1: it's background.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, like the silhouette of it.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Gotcha okay, okay, Uh, he's wearing a headband, is that right?
- 11:26Speaker 2: I don't know fully, I mean, I cannot tell you
- 11:29Speaker 2: too much, of course, but true even yeah, even I
- 11:34Speaker 2: cannot really again, I cannot tell you, like just from
- 11:38Speaker 2: a cultural reference thing. I'm just like, yeah, there is
- 11:40Speaker 2: an octopus with this refeing. He kind of plays on
- 11:44Speaker 2: his own head makes music.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I swear to god, I forgot about that.
- 11:49Speaker 2: I'm sure there's some kind of story when octopus is
- 11:52Speaker 2: kind of like the gatekeeper into a magic realm in Japan.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I could see, oh, but I don't.
- 12:00Speaker 1: It didn't even occur to me. But I really love
- 12:01Speaker 1: that as an idea.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And we get the coyfish. I love this giant coyfish
- 12:10Speaker 2: jumping around and it is just I'm sorry, I just
- 12:15Speaker 2: basically I think you got this, but I just need
- 12:18Speaker 2: to tell as they speak it out loud, the entrance
- 12:21Speaker 2: to Wanna is a huge waterfall, and it is sweet water,
- 12:25Speaker 2: not salt water. Yes, and basically it creates a river
- 12:29Speaker 2: in the ocean. This is how much water comes down there, like, which.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Is a real thing. Actually, there are areas that are
- 12:39Speaker 1: there are like underwater waterfalls in salt water where there
- 12:45Speaker 1: is it's fresh water. And something about the physics of
- 12:51Speaker 1: being saturated with salt making it lighter means that the
- 12:54Speaker 1: fresh water is able to stay separate. It's so this
- 13:00Speaker 1: something I've seen before, as like, this is this He
- 13:03Speaker 1: did not make this up, obviously, this is a very
- 13:05Speaker 1: like exaggerated version of it. But uh, the ocean's crazy,
- 13:12Speaker 1: and so yeah, this is a real thing that I
- 13:16Speaker 1: there's a few things in this that it's like you
- 13:18Speaker 1: would think he just invented this because it's two bonkers.
- 13:21Speaker 1: But like the fish jumping up the waterfall. Yeah, salmon
- 13:24Speaker 1: do this, but it sounds fucking unhinged to be like
- 13:29Speaker 1: the salmon are climbing. No they're not, Susan, what are
- 13:32Speaker 1: you talking about? Do you need your medication? But no
- 13:35Speaker 1: they do. That's what fish. Nature's weird.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Yeah. And then and on top of that that, there
- 13:43Speaker 2: are like bears waiting and just oapen mouth standing.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Literally standing there just like oh dinner perfect.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah nature. Yeah, tell me what you thought about
- 13:56Speaker 2: the sequence again, I can just say I love it.
- 13:59Speaker 2: I love this whole. Oh. I wanted to say the
- 14:01Speaker 2: animations died. I don't know if you noticed, but they're
- 14:04Speaker 2: like some kind of steel frames and this is the
- 14:07Speaker 2: oh god, there is like this Japanese art of the
- 14:10Speaker 2: way the inspiration for Yeah, that.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Was exactly what I was going to mention was like
- 14:16Speaker 1: the thing that the koi wouldn't make normally much of
- 14:19Speaker 1: an impression on me. But once I see the way
- 14:22Speaker 1: that it's being animated and that they're doing this like
- 14:25Speaker 1: really obvious homage to that art style, I was like, oh,
- 14:28Speaker 1: that is a very cool idea, which should have like
- 14:31Speaker 1: tipped me off to the way the rest of handling
- 14:36Speaker 1: Wano is clearly going to go and like and be
- 14:39Speaker 1: this very traditional thing. But I just thought it was
- 14:44Speaker 1: going to be, oh, occasional things like this are we're
- 14:47Speaker 1: going to see and otherwise it's just understood. But instead
- 14:55Speaker 1: it's it's very overt and Wano feels like we're stepping
- 14:58Speaker 1: back in time. So yeah, I thought that that was
- 15:02Speaker 1: a really cool idea. And feeling harnesses these Koi to
- 15:07Speaker 1: pull the ship up in a sequence that is not
- 15:13Speaker 1: at all rare, like we've done weird shit like this before,
- 15:16Speaker 1: but something about it being the koi it felt very
- 15:20Speaker 1: fairy tale like and how perfectly he's got them harnessed
- 15:24Speaker 1: up and stuff. I don't know, there was something about
- 15:25Speaker 1: this that I was just like, I feel like this
- 15:30Speaker 1: sounds like a bedtime story for just a second, And
- 15:33Speaker 1: I really really liked that aspect of it was not
- 15:37Speaker 1: expecting what happens later, which is like he doesn't even
- 15:40Speaker 1: remember where they are the ships on its side. Like
- 15:45Speaker 1: clearly everything went left, you know, after these moments. But
- 15:50Speaker 1: initially I was just like, oh, the waterfall is not
- 15:54Speaker 1: even really an obstacle because we just got these koi
- 15:57Speaker 1: to pull us up, no problem, and it was so
- 15:59Speaker 1: like it was solid almost instantly. I really enjoy this
- 16:02Speaker 1: a lot.
- 16:05Speaker 2: I mean, not everybody has a loofy, I guess.
- 16:07Speaker 1: But right, Saraphim in the chat says, a cooyfish leaping
- 16:12Speaker 1: up a waterfall is a major folk tale where one
- 16:15Speaker 1: does so jumping through a tory gate and becomes a dragon,
- 16:20Speaker 1: this being the inspiration for magic cart becoming Gira Dose
- 16:24Speaker 1: in Pokemon. Oh that is so cool. I find it
- 16:31Speaker 1: so interesting how the lore with dragons in a lot
- 16:36Speaker 1: of Asia is water related, whereas over here in the
- 16:40Speaker 1: West it's very fire and like mountain related. And I
- 16:46Speaker 1: always have to sort of adjust my brain because I
- 16:50Speaker 1: think of them as a dinosaur like, but it seems
- 16:53Speaker 1: like they're much more seen as like sea creatures, not
- 16:58Speaker 1: even necessarily like they live really in this But you
- 17:00Speaker 1: know what I'm you know what I'm saying, there's like
- 17:02Speaker 1: something fish light about them, the.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Fish or like certainly like like through like the rivers.
- 17:08Speaker 2: How they basically yeah, I think that's that's part of it.
- 17:14Speaker 2: But yeah, no, I knew that one about about magic car,
- 17:17Speaker 2: but that's that's kind of I was like, first time
- 17:20Speaker 2: watching this, I was like, are they going to turn
- 17:22Speaker 2: into dragons? This koy? But they don't. They don't.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't know that, but that would have been
- 17:27Speaker 1: really fun if it was just like, oh, yeah, we're
- 17:29Speaker 1: uh the sunny is just being pulled by some koi
- 17:34Speaker 1: whatever and then all of a sudden you look up
- 17:36Speaker 1: and it's a pair of dragons and you're just like,
- 17:38Speaker 1: oh shit. But I don't know. Maybe they did. We
- 17:42Speaker 1: don't see what happened like after a certain point, so.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. So they bake it up there
- 17:48Speaker 2: and it is kind of well, now happy, but for
- 17:53Speaker 2: a moment, then they see a huge whirlpool and what
- 17:58Speaker 2: happens here like we see in episode three. But I
- 18:01Speaker 2: think it's okay before I basically talk.
- 18:04Speaker 1: About it, Oh yeah, it's totally fine.
- 18:07Speaker 2: It is. Oh god, this is a really funny moment.
- 18:10Speaker 2: And when one piece of characters move like really fast,
- 18:13Speaker 2: there is like these shwing sound. I don't know if
- 18:16Speaker 2: you know, yes, yes, and one and one time Lufy
- 18:19Speaker 2: is like, I'm not letting go of the koi and
- 18:21Speaker 2: then this shwing and Nami is there and punches him down,
- 18:24Speaker 2: which she usually kind of moved this fast.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah, she is fucking sick of his nonsense. There's a
- 18:30Speaker 1: whole thing with him, like wanting Sanji to cook the
- 18:34Speaker 1: khoi and Sanji listing off the variety of recipes that
- 18:38Speaker 1: he could potentially make, and Carrot being like like, koi
- 18:43Speaker 1: have way too many bones and it's only Nami and
- 18:46Speaker 1: Chopper being like, can you guys fucking focus? What are
- 18:50Speaker 1: you talking about? And I was just like, oh, man,
- 18:53Speaker 1: Usually I side with Nami. I'm being the level headed one,
- 18:55Speaker 1: but I do kind of want to see what Sanji
- 18:58Speaker 1: makes with this khoi because if we're getting distracted, I
- 19:03Speaker 1: can get on board if it's food related. So I
- 19:06Speaker 1: can't help that.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. And then what happens is that Sanchi basically
- 19:14Speaker 2: carries off the rest of the crew except Loufy with
- 19:18Speaker 2: his skywalk yeh, that's what's it called. And Louviy gets
- 19:23Speaker 2: wrapped up by these octopus. Like first, I was kind
- 19:25Speaker 2: of like, no, the octopus is kind of chill, But
- 19:28Speaker 2: now I'm like, apparently not yes, and he drowns, and well,
- 19:36Speaker 2: not really because we don't really know how he ended
- 19:39Speaker 2: up at the beach. But next thing that we see
- 19:42Speaker 2: with Loufy and the Sunny is at the beach and
- 19:45Speaker 2: the rest of the crew, at least the people that
- 19:48Speaker 2: came with us on the Sunny are missing in action. Yes,
- 19:52Speaker 2: at least for the moment.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I'm never a fan of when our
- 19:59Speaker 1: crew gets split up like this, not in terms of like, oh,
- 20:03Speaker 1: this is writing that I don't like, but it just
- 20:06Speaker 1: gives me such anxiety. But hopefully everybody else is because
- 20:14Speaker 1: it Soundy has to carry them all. And he comments
- 20:17Speaker 1: about how he has a weight limit, but then he
- 20:19Speaker 1: says he's joking, and I'm like, but are you Are
- 20:22Speaker 1: you guys all able to make it just fine? Is
- 20:24Speaker 1: it really?
- 20:26Speaker 2: Like?
- 20:26Speaker 1: And the fact that the Sonny is with Lufy and
- 20:32Speaker 1: on its side has me a little bit worried, because like,
- 20:35Speaker 1: getting it up and back into the water could either
- 20:38Speaker 1: be a huge ordeal or it could be super easy
- 20:42Speaker 1: cartoon style. The show kind of does what it wants
- 20:47Speaker 1: in terms of how big a problem something is actually
- 20:51Speaker 1: where there are occasionally going to be times where damage
- 20:55Speaker 1: is serious enough that we need to stay here for
- 20:58Speaker 1: like a week as repairs are on. But then sometimes
- 21:01Speaker 1: it's like, oh, I can have that done by tonight,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and we're just gonna it's nothing, you know. So I
- 21:10Speaker 1: know that we're here for a mission, and I know that, like,
- 21:13Speaker 1: we're not leaving until we have figured that whole situation out.
- 21:19Speaker 1: So the Sunny being immediately seaworthy again isn't top priority,
- 21:24Speaker 1: but I do worry about the fact that there isn't
- 21:28Speaker 1: an easy way to get out if we need to. Potentially, Oh,
- 21:35Speaker 1: I heard your your fancy European sirens in the background.
- 21:39Speaker 1: There a whole different energy.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I don't know fancy, but yeah. I also much like
- 21:47Speaker 2: we're sewn. I live close to the fire station. Ah yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 2: but I wanted to say, yeah, yeah, we're here for
- 21:57Speaker 2: a mission. I kind of skipped abodies. Do you have
- 22:00Speaker 2: any questions we get like a flashback of like when
- 22:03Speaker 2: they're in soul and stuff like this, Do you want
- 22:06Speaker 2: me to kind of explain what he know so far?
- 22:10Speaker 2: Or yeah?
- 22:12Speaker 1: I think that would be helped because like the flashback
- 22:15Speaker 1: actually wasn't as helpful as they usually are, and I
- 22:20Speaker 1: think that part of it is just that there's like
- 22:23Speaker 1: a lot of names being dropped and whatnot. And the
- 22:27Speaker 1: overall thing that I get is Momos is the prince.
- 22:32Speaker 1: His father was executed unjustly, but he did it as
- 22:38Speaker 1: a hero to sacrifice himself to save a bunch of
- 22:41Speaker 1: other people that would have been hurt if he didn't
- 22:43Speaker 1: fall on his sword, so to speak. And the dude
- 22:47Speaker 1: who is now in charge the what is is it
- 22:52Speaker 1: a shogun? Okay? He made it deal with Kaido and
- 22:57Speaker 1: is like basically in his post. So it's a corrupt
- 23:03Speaker 1: system and we're trying to rescue the island from him
- 23:08Speaker 1: and his like the way he's choosing to run things.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Although as of right now it does seem like one
- 23:16Speaker 1: I was doing pretty well under this guy, just on
- 23:20Speaker 1: the surface. But there is some mention of capturing a
- 23:25Speaker 1: loofy for slave labor, so you know, there's the surface
- 23:30Speaker 1: isn't necessarily the whole story?
- 23:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean again, dress Rosa also looked fine and
- 23:40Speaker 2: then yeah, no, I feel like you summed it up
- 23:43Speaker 2: pretty well. I think is there something else? I mean,
- 23:48Speaker 2: this is why the struts are here to help them.
- 23:51Speaker 2: One other thing that is kind of in the background.
- 23:54Speaker 2: But and I know again we're kind of similar in
- 23:57Speaker 2: this way, and that we're not so in that in
- 24:00Speaker 2: the porglyphs. But yes, one of the road pornoglyphs, one
- 24:05Speaker 2: of these red pornogliphs that leads to the one piece,
- 24:08Speaker 2: is apparently in Kaidosha, so we also want to get
- 24:16Speaker 2: our hands on.
- 24:17Speaker 1: That, gotcha. Yes, I totally forgot about that.
- 24:21Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, but again, there were kind of similar.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Some people love this whole thing. I'm I'm just kind
- 24:29Speaker 2: of like waiting to see how it plays out.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Like I'm kind of like, fine, yeah, yeah, exactly, I
- 24:39Speaker 1: I am is Oh my god, I keep wanting to
- 24:45Speaker 1: say Kaido. You guys just you just told me his
- 24:50Speaker 1: name the guy that I said that I didn't like,
- 24:54Speaker 1: Q thank you. I need to remember it sounds like cinnamon.
- 25:00Speaker 1: He is he here on one of like hiding. Well,
- 25:06Speaker 1: I guess you can't tell me that, can you.
- 25:09Speaker 2: I mean, we by the way I think of kinemon,
- 25:13Speaker 2: and I think of kinemo like the the Japanese is
- 25:18Speaker 2: it that, oh kimono where kimonos? That's how you say it? Okay,
- 25:23Speaker 2: so I kind of make the link just invert that. Yeah, yeah,
- 25:28Speaker 2: kind of like that but different. Yeah, kimono, Yeah, I
- 25:35Speaker 2: mean I cannot tell you. However, I mean we can
- 25:38Speaker 2: move forward a little bit to our crew that we
- 25:41Speaker 2: have not seen in a long time, and we have
- 25:44Speaker 2: some like flashbacks or like visions, not visions, it's flashbacks
- 25:48Speaker 2: for them where they remember that. He tells them, you
- 25:52Speaker 2: must be living in secret, because again, Kaitos, people are
- 25:57Speaker 2: everywhere and they cannot know we are here as long
- 26:01Speaker 2: as our allies are not also here and way too dangerous,
- 26:06Speaker 2: so stay hidden. That's basically what he tells them. We
- 26:10Speaker 2: don't know where he is, but that's kind of and
- 26:13Speaker 2: his instructions today, right.
- 26:17Speaker 1: And I didn't see this coming at all because my
- 26:23Speaker 1: mental image of the situation was kind of that there
- 26:26Speaker 1: was going to be a similar like a group of
- 26:33Speaker 1: resistors that were hiding Mirjuana, that we could like go
- 26:37Speaker 1: meet up with and hide out with and like do
- 26:40Speaker 1: these little gorilla attacks in the way that the rebel
- 26:43Speaker 1: army is like out here resisting the world government. So
- 26:49Speaker 1: I thought all of us are going to meet up
- 26:51Speaker 1: with the other folks who are fighting back, But instead
- 26:56Speaker 1: it feels like there is no organized group that is
- 26:59Speaker 1: trying to fight back.
- 27:00Speaker 2: It is.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Just sort of we're on recon right now, trying to
- 27:05Speaker 1: gather information only and get to know And I don't
- 27:09Speaker 1: know how much this is a factor, but perhaps it's
- 27:13Speaker 1: also partially we need to grow to know our neighbors
- 27:20Speaker 1: and gain some trust in the community so that like,
- 27:25Speaker 1: once we do start to know what's going on or
- 27:27Speaker 1: need to do things, that we can get other people
- 27:30Speaker 1: to help because they have grown to trust us. But
- 27:34Speaker 1: I like, as of right now, I don't know how
- 27:37Speaker 1: much of a thing that even is. It just feels
- 27:39Speaker 1: like it could potentially be convenient that you've got locals
- 27:43Speaker 1: on your side who have grown to like and respect you, hopefully,
- 27:48Speaker 1: although in Usup's case, I feel like that's really not
- 27:54Speaker 1: going to work out long term in that way, So
- 27:57Speaker 1: he's not thinking that through.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's fair. Well, let let's talk about the
- 28:04Speaker 2: destroyers here. Who's so first we already mentioned him. He
- 28:08Speaker 2: is not a snake oil sailor, he's a toad oil.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Cracked me up by really that when he was saying
- 28:16Speaker 1: it's toad oil, I was like, why is this tickling
- 28:19Speaker 1: my brain? And then later when it's just the like
- 28:24Speaker 1: toad oil salesman. I was like, that's why, Oh, that
- 28:28Speaker 1: is pretty good. This is how has he not been
- 28:33Speaker 1: caught yet? They've been there a while. It's amazing that
- 28:36Speaker 1: nobody has just beat the ever living ship out of
- 28:39Speaker 1: him yet.
- 28:41Speaker 2: What. Yeah, you you already mentioned that you're not really
- 28:47Speaker 2: feeling that he is wise necessary. But I don't know
- 28:55Speaker 2: he depending on how much he's setting up shop, you know,
- 28:59Speaker 2: like how much he's moving around, I would say, because
- 29:03Speaker 2: that's also a thing with snake old the sailor, as
- 29:05Speaker 2: far as I've known from history, is they're always constantly moving,
- 29:09Speaker 2: so they basically scan people and move away. Yeah.
- 29:13Speaker 1: I guess that's the thing that that it feels like
- 29:15Speaker 1: he's sort of staying in one place because I don't
- 29:18Speaker 1: see the size of one. Oh, I don't really have
- 29:20Speaker 1: a great idea of, like, you know, the size of
- 29:23Speaker 1: the population. So I'm figuring that, like it's a small
- 29:28Speaker 1: enough community that people are going to begin to word
- 29:31Speaker 1: will travel, you know, but evidently not quite yet. So
- 29:37Speaker 1: I just worry that when there comes a point where
- 29:39Speaker 1: people are going to need to trust our guys, he
- 29:43Speaker 1: may have done some damage here.
- 29:45Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe perhaps I I just wanted to
- 29:51Speaker 2: ask you is it too early? I'm just going to
- 29:55Speaker 2: ask you. We had gres Rosa once again where half
- 30:02Speaker 2: of our crew left and you were like, sometimes where's Nammy,
- 30:08Speaker 2: where's suddenly mm hmmmm hmm. But if you have not
- 30:12Speaker 2: fully realized we had an entire arc without us up
- 30:17Speaker 2: without Soro on Whole Cake and basically where the other
- 30:23Speaker 2: half of the crew was missing, and now it seems
- 30:27Speaker 2: like we were finally all together. H do you feel
- 30:31Speaker 2: like this? I mean, we had Dress Rosa and what's
- 30:35Speaker 2: it called Whole Cake? So I'm going to ask you,
- 30:38Speaker 2: do you feel like this was kind of worth it
- 30:40Speaker 2: to split them up that way? Or would you have
- 30:43Speaker 2: rather them all involved in each of the arms.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I think in Dress Rosa it was like a lot
- 30:50Speaker 1: more noticeable because of the fact that there's also like
- 30:56Speaker 1: the weirdness of some folks being around for part of
- 30:59Speaker 1: it and then they like split off and get separated.
- 31:04Speaker 1: So I think that's as a factor as well, that
- 31:07Speaker 1: like we were together for a second and like, right,
- 31:11Speaker 1: weren't the there was like a moment where they split
- 31:15Speaker 1: apart because of the attack from there's the fight between
- 31:20Speaker 1: Trafalgar and Do Flamingo. So I think that was part
- 31:27Speaker 1: of what kind of got me like where are they
- 31:29Speaker 1: because it felt like we started off with them. Yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 1: we had a thing that caused us to split, but
- 31:36Speaker 1: they can't have just left like it was just it
- 31:38Speaker 1: felt like they were in the wings and that they
- 31:40Speaker 1: would come back any second, whereas here there was an
- 31:43Speaker 1: official split that was like we are making a plan
- 31:49Speaker 1: and we are specifically deciding some you guys are going
- 31:52Speaker 1: another way, which had me less like distracted by it.
- 31:57Speaker 1: And I think that probably at Hole Cake, if everybody
- 32:01Speaker 1: were together, it may have been that there would be they.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I feel like the straw Hats all together with everybody's
- 32:11Speaker 1: abilities might be too close to a match for the baddies,
- 32:20Speaker 1: not really saying that they would have beaten everybody necessarily
- 32:23Speaker 1: because I don't really think that, but like, if we
- 32:26Speaker 1: really want there to be tension, we've got to depower
- 32:31Speaker 1: our people a little bit, you know, and give a
- 32:35Speaker 1: good reason why. Lufy is sort of like facing down
- 32:37Speaker 1: with certain characters all by himself, because there's only so
- 32:41Speaker 1: much you can do to sideline somebody by getting them
- 32:44Speaker 1: stuck between two buildings for a huge amount of an arc.
- 32:49Speaker 1: So him going up against uh, what's his name Kategori.
- 32:55Speaker 1: When he's in the mirror world, I guess we could
- 32:57Speaker 1: have done that where he goes through the mirror and
- 32:59Speaker 1: then the entrance gets shattered.
- 33:00Speaker 2: But like.
- 33:02Speaker 1: If Zorro's around, if Frankie is around, I feel like
- 33:08Speaker 1: it's too evenly matched or more even. So I think
- 33:15Speaker 1: probably splitting them up there was a good call, and
- 33:20Speaker 1: that way because they didn't win. They win inasmuch as
- 33:25Speaker 1: they are alive and they have humiliated Big Mom, but
- 33:28Speaker 1: they haven't actually defeated her. And so how do we
- 33:32Speaker 1: explain if we in the future beat her without having
- 33:35Speaker 1: there be another like two year gap where everybody just
- 33:38Speaker 1: powers up. Well, this time we bring everybody, you know,
- 33:44Speaker 1: so that's reasonable to me. Yeah, yeah, I have to.
- 33:50Speaker 2: I ask this because again in retrospect, I like this
- 33:55Speaker 2: splitting up more. At the time I didn't like it,
- 33:59Speaker 2: but looking get it, like seeing these two arts, like
- 34:03Speaker 2: how it all was set up and worked out, I'm
- 34:05Speaker 2: kind of like, okay, no, it works out right, you know,
- 34:08Speaker 2: And I can also see why Oda did it, why
- 34:11Speaker 2: he decided to do you know, it makes sense. But
- 34:14Speaker 2: at the time, as a viewer, I was kind of like,
- 34:17Speaker 2: that's a bullshit.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Right, Yes, yeah, I really understand the there's just a
- 34:25Speaker 1: a different type of anxiety when everybody was planning on
- 34:32Speaker 1: it going different. So everybody getting split up at Dress
- 34:36Speaker 1: Rosa when that wasn't what we had wanted to do,
- 34:39Speaker 1: and not really knowing where the rest of the team
- 34:41Speaker 1: even is. It's not just that they're not here. We
- 34:46Speaker 1: don't go see them at all in the midst of
- 34:48Speaker 1: the arc. There's no like cut over and see what's
- 34:52Speaker 1: happening with them, and there isn't during hole Cake, but
- 34:56Speaker 1: I don't need it because I know the plan is
- 34:59Speaker 1: to go to Wano, so that's fine. So here it's
- 35:02Speaker 1: a similar thing as at Dress Rosa, where we all
- 35:05Speaker 1: planned on arriving at the same time on the sunny
- 35:08Speaker 1: and we get split up right at the end, which
- 35:11Speaker 1: was not our intention. And now this whole thing just
- 35:14Speaker 1: didn't go to plan. And we all know that I'm
- 35:17Speaker 1: a control freak and I want things to go to plan,
- 35:19Speaker 1: and if they don't, that makes me deeply uncomfortable. So
- 35:22Speaker 1: it's no surprise that it's really more about like, did
- 35:25Speaker 1: we agree to this and make a contingency plan for it,
- 35:29Speaker 1: or is this just everything goes awry? Because we're getting
- 35:34Speaker 1: into a situation that we don't even really fully understand.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I there's a moment in the flashbacks with because like Nami,
- 35:43Speaker 1: when she sees the weather changing, She's like, actually, Kineone
- 35:47Speaker 1: told me that the weather is part of what makes
- 35:50Speaker 1: approaching the island really hard. Did we actually see him
- 35:54Speaker 1: tell her this or is this a flashback that's just
- 35:58Speaker 1: like her POV.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I think this is new information.
- 36:02Speaker 1: This at the time, I think, okay, because I was
- 36:06Speaker 1: really feeling like I don't remember this. But again, I
- 36:10Speaker 1: don't like kenem On, so maybe that's just like anything
- 36:12Speaker 1: that he says, I'm just like not going to fully
- 36:14Speaker 1: pay attention to. And that's on me.
- 36:17Speaker 2: That's fair. So back to the back to the straw
- 36:21Speaker 2: heads other people that you don't like, Robin she is.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I don't dislike Robin. I just find her boring.
- 36:28Speaker 2: It's fine, it's fine. I'm teasing the audience this way.
- 36:34Speaker 2: She is a geisha or in training to become a geisha. Well,
- 36:38Speaker 2: what are your thoughts about about that?
- 36:45Speaker 1: My thoughts are somebody had to do it. You know,
- 36:48Speaker 1: we're gonna go into this sort of like historical era.
- 36:52Speaker 1: There's gotta be a geisha it has to be, it
- 36:55Speaker 1: has to happen, and she's the only woman with them,
- 36:58Speaker 1: of course, you know, I appreciate that it is being
- 37:04Speaker 1: shown as something really difficult, though, Like this is not
- 37:10Speaker 1: oh she gets to just like be glamorous and social
- 37:15Speaker 1: and it's some sort of princess treatment. This is fucking training,
- 37:20Speaker 1: and it is grueling in a very different way. And
- 37:25Speaker 1: I appreciate that because I feel like so often anything
- 37:31Speaker 1: about like the way that women's work question mark, that's
- 37:38Speaker 1: not really the word I want, but you know, anything
- 37:41Speaker 1: historically involving women can be downplayed quite a bit and
- 37:48Speaker 1: treated like very unseeriously, and it is truly difficult in
- 37:57Speaker 1: a way that is just really different than like manual
- 38:01Speaker 1: labor or something. So it's also sort of funny because
- 38:06Speaker 1: like Robin is so taciturn you know, she really doesn't.
- 38:11Speaker 1: She's not a chatty kathy, So it's kind of perfect
- 38:15Speaker 1: for her because you're only meant to talk very very
- 38:20Speaker 1: specific moments and in a very specific way. So I
- 38:24Speaker 1: feel like, on the one hand, it does sort of
- 38:26Speaker 1: suit her personality. Also, geessha are supposed to be highly
- 38:31Speaker 1: highly educated, so that they can converse about a lot
- 38:33Speaker 1: of topics and she is, so maybe that like training
- 38:38Speaker 1: involved getting information.
- 38:41Speaker 2: That I mean, I don't know. She's the only one
- 38:44Speaker 2: that we have some idea why she's in the position
- 38:47Speaker 2: that she is seen her. I don't know. Her teacher
- 38:55Speaker 2: is basically saying, oh, you want to be basically invited
- 39:00Speaker 2: to the shogun's feet, right, right right, So basically probably
- 39:05Speaker 2: to get her intel, is my guess. Yeah, like she
- 39:08Speaker 2: wants to get closer. With all the others, we actually
- 39:12Speaker 2: don't know what they're doing because Frankie's just seems to
- 39:14Speaker 2: be building houses.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I could see that if there were something that's being constructed,
- 39:22Speaker 1: if he's on the inside, he could build in like
- 39:25Speaker 1: escape routes or something. But I don't know. Zorro is
- 39:30Speaker 1: a weird one because like he's just fighting the way
- 39:33Speaker 1: he's always fought. So it doesn't feel like necessarily anything
- 39:38Speaker 1: specific for him as much as just stay sharp, buddy,
- 39:41Speaker 1: because we're gonna need a fighter eventually.
- 39:43Speaker 2: You know.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Also, I'm a sucker for any time that you've got
- 39:51Speaker 1: a beautiful woman who is infiltrating a place to get information.
- 39:57Speaker 1: It's a that is a plot point that, if done right,
- 40:01Speaker 1: can be so delightful and so satisfying to watch, Like
- 40:07Speaker 1: I'm trying to remember. I think it might be Winter
- 40:09Speaker 1: Soldier the have you seen Captain America Winter Soldier?
- 40:14Speaker 2: I have not know.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Okay, so mild spoiler here, but there's a point where
- 40:19Speaker 1: Scarlett Johansson's character Black Widow r i P. She is
- 40:25Speaker 1: getting interrogated and Scarlet Johnson dead the character is dead her,
- 40:33Speaker 1: the Black Widow is eventually killed.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Oh I didn't even know that.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Sorry. Sorry. It is like something that is addressed a lot,
- 40:42Speaker 1: because like her sister has taken over in the current properties, so.
- 40:48Speaker 2: I have not after like even before that, but after endgame,
- 40:52Speaker 2: I feel like that was I was like, okay, I'm good,
- 40:55Speaker 2: that's fair. It was not because it was bad, but
- 40:57Speaker 2: I'm just kind of like the rat.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Yeah, the story is like complete, and I agree in
- 41:03Speaker 1: large part. The one thing I will say is I've
- 41:06Speaker 1: never been that big a fan of Scarlett Johansson, but
- 41:09Speaker 1: Florence Pugh is her little sister who has taken on
- 41:12Speaker 1: the main role, and Florence Peugh is so great, So
- 41:16Speaker 1: she made me care about a character that I otherwise
- 41:19Speaker 1: kind of didn't. And Thunderbolts is worth a watch, I
- 41:23Speaker 1: think because it deals a lot with like mental health.
- 41:27Speaker 1: But anyway, anyway, so Scarlett Johansson is getting interrogated and
- 41:35Speaker 1: she's tied to a chair and getting beaten and this
- 41:40Speaker 1: guy is like, you know, tell me what youah blah blah,
- 41:44Speaker 1: and he'll say something and then she'll be like, but wait,
- 41:46Speaker 1: I thought such and such and he's like, you idiot,
- 41:49Speaker 1: that's what he wanted you to think. It's actually blah
- 41:51Speaker 1: blah blah. And then he gets a call on his
- 41:54Speaker 1: cell phone and he answers and gets this look and
- 41:57Speaker 1: he's like, oh, it's for you, and he holds it
- 42:00Speaker 1: up to her ear and it's Bruce calling her Bruce
- 42:06Speaker 1: Banner and she's like, hey man, this is really not
- 42:09Speaker 1: a good time. I'm in the middle of an interrogation
- 42:11Speaker 1: and this idiot is giving me everything. And the guy
- 42:14Speaker 1: holding the phone gives her a look and she just
- 42:16Speaker 1: gives him a look back, like please, and she's like, oh, okay, no, yeah,
- 42:22Speaker 1: I can be there in like four hours, and the
- 42:25Speaker 1: dude closes the phone on her and she's like, yeah,
- 42:27Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. I got to cut this short. And
- 42:29Speaker 1: she just busts out of her bonds and beats the
- 42:32Speaker 1: shit out of him and gets out of there, and
- 42:34Speaker 1: it turns out the whole thing is she sets it
- 42:37Speaker 1: up to make it seem like she has no power
- 42:40Speaker 1: because that's what they expect, because she's just a woman,
- 42:43Speaker 1: and she's just, you know, like not to be taken seriously,
- 42:46Speaker 1: and she'll just lean into that in a way that
- 42:50Speaker 1: my ego would never allow. I couldn't. I couldn't. I
- 42:55Speaker 1: couldn't be constantly underestimated, even if I know it's strategically
- 42:59Speaker 1: advantageous to me, it would chafe at me and bother
- 43:03Speaker 1: me that I can, you know. And this is something
- 43:05Speaker 1: that comes up in like all kinds of things where
- 43:07Speaker 1: women have to Veronica Mars is another one where she
- 43:11Speaker 1: has to pretend to be like a nube to computers
- 43:14Speaker 1: and gaming, and she has to tolerate tons of man'splaining
- 43:17Speaker 1: and misogyny in order to infiltrate this like group. And
- 43:21Speaker 1: I'm just watching it like I would never be able
- 43:24Speaker 1: to shut the fuck up. I would just snap these
- 43:26Speaker 1: guys' heads off because it's so irritating, But you can't.
- 43:30Speaker 1: So all this to say, this sort of thing, when
- 43:37Speaker 1: done well, is like delicious to me because it's playing
- 43:41Speaker 1: on a lot of the exact things that, like, I know,
- 43:46Speaker 1: it's so tropy, but it's tropy because women just get
- 43:51Speaker 1: this treatment anyway, so we may as well try to
- 43:55Speaker 1: exploit that. And I just I'm in and Robin is
- 44:01Speaker 1: always just exactly who she is. There's never her like
- 44:05Speaker 1: pretense with her, So I think that's also interesting. It's
- 44:08Speaker 1: like we're getting a Robin who's having to put on
- 44:11Speaker 1: a show and I never see that.
- 44:14Speaker 2: That's true. She has to be kind of like when
- 44:18Speaker 2: she later sees the Sorrow picture, she has to be like,
- 44:21Speaker 2: oh no, I don't know, you know, like and kind
- 44:25Speaker 2: of well acting yeah, I yeah, we will see if
- 44:30Speaker 2: Oda and Robin can pull it off. Yeah, and fulfilio
- 44:33Speaker 2: or for Freelio wishes, ye, now, Sorrow. Sorrow is supposed
- 44:42Speaker 2: to be a ronin. As far as I know, a
- 44:45Speaker 2: ronin is basically a samurai who lost his lord. Basically,
- 44:50Speaker 2: as a samurai, you have a lord, and when the
- 44:53Speaker 2: lord gets killed or something happens to him, dishonored you,
- 44:58Speaker 2: and nobody else basically takes you in. You become a
- 45:00Speaker 2: wandering samurai, which is a rolling m as far as
- 45:04Speaker 2: I know. And these basically oftentimes are depicted as like
- 45:09Speaker 2: people who drunk but still have honor, Like this is
- 45:11Speaker 2: a lot where this whole thing comes from, and he
- 45:16Speaker 2: gets arrested for no reason at all on it.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really weird. I was like, did I miss something?
- 45:24Speaker 1: But it just seems like somebody somewhere got attacked and
- 45:27Speaker 1: they're just out looking for a guy who's got a
- 45:29Speaker 1: sword maybe, and that's all it takes. I don't know,
- 45:35Speaker 1: but he runs into somebody on the street. We don't
- 45:38Speaker 1: really get a good look at that person's face. It
- 45:41Speaker 1: seems pretty clear pretty quickly who it is.
- 45:46Speaker 2: But uh, it's.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Interesting because like I really thought he was gonna have
- 45:53Speaker 1: some further proof and before he does what he does,
- 45:58Speaker 1: and he just does what he does and then flees
- 46:02Speaker 1: and it's all. I expected this to be much more
- 46:10Speaker 1: of a gotcha moment, and it really is.
- 46:16Speaker 2: You said, you're surprised that Lizip has been caught. I'm
- 46:19Speaker 2: surprised that Sorrow hasn't been in a situation like this
- 46:22Speaker 2: sooner fair. I expected him to be his spot basically basically,
- 46:30Speaker 2: to be blown up immediately. Well, we need it for
- 46:35Speaker 2: at least Lufi to set foot on the island before
- 46:38Speaker 2: before or there was like another moment low otherwise it's
- 46:46Speaker 2: not believable.
- 46:47Speaker 1: I have to say.
- 46:48Speaker 2: So Sorrow gets taken in by his guards and he
- 46:52Speaker 2: is to comment, Seppuku, I feel like it's the term
- 46:57Speaker 2: which is killing yourself is the sammurai should die in
- 47:02Speaker 2: battle or by this method, which is an honorable way
- 47:07Speaker 2: to go right, because you, I don't know, pay for
- 47:10Speaker 2: your things. I'm not so deep in this, lord. I
- 47:14Speaker 2: am just gonna say these animations where like he grabs
- 47:20Speaker 2: on his apps and he makes like this move and
- 47:24Speaker 2: he just is there shirtless and he pulls.
- 47:27Speaker 1: His shirt open and the camera's got like his nipple
- 47:30Speaker 1: is like the whole frame for a second as he
- 47:33Speaker 1: like pulls his shirt open, and I was just like, okay,
- 47:36Speaker 1: heated rivalry. What is going on?
- 47:41Speaker 2: Oh my god? Can I I love these moments so equality,
- 47:44Speaker 2: Like if we get book shots from the ladies, then
- 47:46Speaker 2: let's get more Sorrow shots of his books.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Please agree?
- 47:51Speaker 2: He did rivalry? Quick question. I I've never seen it,
- 47:55Speaker 2: but I let me tell you, I think I saw
- 47:59Speaker 2: this before. I'm deeply a romantic, so anything romance is
- 48:03Speaker 2: truly not my style. And I like sexiness in TV
- 48:08Speaker 2: shows oftentimes doesn't do it for me because I'm just like,
- 48:11Speaker 2: I can just go and watch a poor m These
- 48:14Speaker 2: are like the two Grape and I'm just kind of like,
- 48:16Speaker 2: should I watch it? Is my question.
- 48:19Speaker 1: I'm going to say yes, because it's exceptional on both fronts.
- 48:24Speaker 1: It's exceptional in that who like the the directing of
- 48:28Speaker 1: the sex scenes is so much more zeroed in and
- 48:35Speaker 1: so much more realistic in a hot way to what
- 48:39Speaker 1: sex is like versus the very weird showiness of most
- 48:44Speaker 1: TV sex scenes that feel really performative. It does not.
- 48:48Speaker 1: It feels like you're getting to see a private moment
- 48:51Speaker 1: between people in a way that it doesn't usually feel.
- 48:55Speaker 1: And the romance the two leads have such fucking bonkers
- 49:02Speaker 1: chemistry that it like, setting aside the romance, they are
- 49:08Speaker 1: just so much fun to watch together and the dynamic
- 49:11Speaker 1: between them that even if it were a platonic thing
- 49:17Speaker 1: and they you know, like there's just it's exciting, Like
- 49:21Speaker 1: there's the bounce back and forth. And one of the actors,
- 49:27Speaker 1: the character is Russian and the actor is not. He's
- 49:32Speaker 1: from Texas originally, but he delivers like a five or
- 49:40Speaker 1: six minute long monologue in Russian only at one point
- 49:44Speaker 1: in the show and evidently had such impeccable pronunciation and
- 49:51Speaker 1: his accent was so great that native Russian speakers thought
- 49:56Speaker 1: he was Russian and were very surprised in interviews to
- 50:00Speaker 1: find out that he was Textan and they were just
- 50:02Speaker 1: like what And he when you see him in interviews,
- 50:09Speaker 1: he's this like soft boy, very like sweet and kind
- 50:12Speaker 1: of goofy and whatever. But in the show as the
- 50:16Speaker 1: Russian he is get on your knees and you're just like, whoa,
- 50:22Speaker 1: I almost did that. I almost did that over here
- 50:25Speaker 1: on the other side of the TV screen, And he's
- 50:27Speaker 1: like I worried after seeing the interviews that I wouldn't
- 50:31Speaker 1: be able to take him seriously in the Russian accent anymore.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Not a problem. It's like he's a completely different person,
- 50:37Speaker 1: and he is so magnetic and so hot. I mean
- 50:41Speaker 1: they're both extremely hot.
- 50:43Speaker 2: I mean, come on, I have seen pictures, you know,
- 50:46Speaker 2: and like, like I probably need I need to watch it.
- 50:51Speaker 1: I really recommend it. Like I totally get what you're
- 50:55Speaker 1: talking about, because TV sex usually fucking sucks, like it's
- 50:59Speaker 1: always goofy, and romance is it's always like, oh, we're
- 51:04Speaker 1: gonna just create this romance because it conveniently provides a
- 51:09Speaker 1: way to do lazy plotting, plotting where things just happen
- 51:12Speaker 1: because of jealousy or misunderstanding. And so I tend to
- 51:17Speaker 1: feel like I don't like romance, but it's just that
- 51:20Speaker 1: most romance is bad. That's really what it is. When
- 51:24Speaker 1: it's good, it's it's fantastic to watch.
- 51:28Speaker 2: So I yeah, I mean not too. I mean. One
- 51:33Speaker 2: other thing that I'm just gonna say is also I'm
- 51:35Speaker 2: kind got tired as a gay person myself of the
- 51:40Speaker 2: secret gay lovers story.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Totally get that.
- 51:43Speaker 2: H you know, it's kind of like, okay again, you know,
- 51:47Speaker 2: you can't take a basic story and when you tell
- 51:50Speaker 2: you really well, it's still worth it. But I'm also oftentimes,
- 51:55Speaker 2: can we do something different with gay characters? Please?
- 51:59Speaker 1: I completely understand, Well, I mean I don't completely understand,
- 52:02Speaker 1: but I can imagine and I won't lie. When I
- 52:06Speaker 1: went into Heated Rivalry, I was kind of hoping. I
- 52:10Speaker 1: can't say too much because of the spoilers, obviously, but
- 52:16Speaker 1: I will say it's super well done. And also, a
- 52:20Speaker 1: listener in the chat during one of My lives informed
- 52:23Speaker 1: me that hockey remains like one of the only major
- 52:26Speaker 1: sports in which there are no out players whatsoever. It's
- 52:31Speaker 1: just for whatever reason, it's hyper masculine and there isn't
- 52:36Speaker 1: a single publicly gay player, so that baggage is like
- 52:44Speaker 1: being She was like kind of addressing that specifically when
- 52:48Speaker 1: she wrote the books, because the show's based on books.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to give you a try and come
- 52:55Speaker 2: back around with you.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Please tell you and listen to the spoil me is
- 53:00Speaker 1: on that because I had so much fun just the
- 53:03Speaker 1: first episode. Dude, you'll see. But there were a couple
- 53:11Speaker 1: of moments where I was like, do I need to
- 53:12Speaker 1: pause this and like take a moment.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Because take a shower.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Very literally going like oh boy, I need I need
- 53:22Speaker 1: to catch my breath. So, uh yeah, I'll be very
- 53:25Speaker 1: interested to hear what you have to say about it.
- 53:27Speaker 1: There's a there's a channel in the discord, so come
- 53:30Speaker 1: in there and tell me everything. I got my mom
- 53:33Speaker 1: to watch it. I rewatched it with my husband and
- 53:37Speaker 1: he was super into it and was just like at
- 53:39Speaker 1: one point I was like, you want to watch another one?
- 53:41Speaker 1: He's like, no, there's only six. We have to make
- 53:43Speaker 1: it last. I don't want it to be over yet.
- 53:46Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, I know, it's real short.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Wow, I fought eight leaves.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Nope, yeah, it's too short. It's it's perfect, but it's tragic. Anyway,
- 54:00Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. Seraphim is in the chat talking about
- 54:03Speaker 1: back to Sorrow. It probably took Sorrow that long just
- 54:06Speaker 1: to find his way to the town. But then it
- 54:08Speaker 1: is so fitting that Zorro has caused things to wander
- 54:11Speaker 1: in an entirely different show. So yeah, bringing up Zorro
- 54:16Speaker 1: gets us off to objectify men a little bit more. Please, Yeah,
- 54:22Speaker 1: like Zero went on.
- 54:23Speaker 2: His as Yeah, I so Sorrow basically, Ah, this is
- 54:32Speaker 2: something I wanted to tell you. It is recap for you.
- 54:38Speaker 2: It's it's going to come up, but it is not
- 54:41Speaker 2: going to be You don't need to remember everything perfectly.
- 54:45Speaker 2: Sorrow's sword he got from Maria's Island, like Fri La
- 54:51Speaker 2: bar because the guy who captures him is like, oh,
- 54:57Speaker 2: this sort that you have is a national treasure.
- 55:03Speaker 1: I don't remember this. The guy who captures him, the.
- 55:08Speaker 2: Kuma know that here in one No in one.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Oh oh I'm sorry, you said thriller Bark. So I'm
- 55:17Speaker 1: thinking back. Okay, so he got it on thriller Bark.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Exactly what were the circumstances of him getting it. On
- 55:24Speaker 1: thriller Bark, I don't remember.
- 55:26Speaker 2: Yes, because it's not explained here at all, and I
- 55:29Speaker 2: don't think like they go truly deeply into it. So
- 55:33Speaker 2: basically what happened is Mauria went to Kaido or Touano
- 55:39Speaker 2: and on Tuano and what Kaido was yes, and get
- 55:44Speaker 2: his ass beaten in the sense of that all of
- 55:48Speaker 2: his crew died. Mariya's crew was dead, and that was
- 55:52Speaker 2: him kind of being like, Okay, I need not a
- 55:54Speaker 2: living crew, I needed that crew. So he started his
- 55:58Speaker 2: Sombi crew that we encompa oh okay, and he talked
- 56:04Speaker 2: about it. He he that's something that we're learning through
- 56:07Speaker 2: the Bark that Maria got defeated by Kaido. And one
- 56:12Speaker 2: thing that he did was he stole a corpse and
- 56:14Speaker 2: a sword from the land of Juana of a hero
- 56:19Speaker 2: of folk here basically okay, and that's the corpse was
- 56:26Speaker 2: got Brooks, Brooks shadow, So the shadow of brook was
- 56:30Speaker 2: in this corpse. That's the one that Sorow thought, and
- 56:34Speaker 2: that's where the sword is coming from.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Okay.
- 56:39Speaker 2: And basically this guy, this corpse and this sword are
- 56:42Speaker 2: apparently super important to Juano and people are kind of like,
- 56:48Speaker 2: I mean here, they're kind of like, are you the
- 56:51Speaker 2: one who stole this? So like, what the fuck is
- 56:53Speaker 2: going on? And that's just for you to know why
- 56:58Speaker 2: people might react to Soro and this sort a little
- 57:03Speaker 2: strongly because basically the whole country knows it has been stolen.
- 57:07Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I definitely did not remember that at all,
- 57:12Speaker 1: so appreciate that.
- 57:14Speaker 2: It's not as far as I know, it's never fully
- 57:18Speaker 2: or it's a little bit shown, but I feel like
- 57:21Speaker 2: this is not an instance where I said, come on,
- 57:23Speaker 2: give us a little bit more flashbacks.
- 57:25Speaker 1: It's weird how much the show loves to do flashbacks
- 57:28Speaker 1: when we don't need them, and then doesn't when I
- 57:31Speaker 1: feel like they could be really necessary. I just do
- 57:34Speaker 1: not understand the logic behind it sometimes, but what can
- 57:38Speaker 1: you do?
- 57:39Speaker 2: This connection between Maria and Kaido is also kind of
- 57:45Speaker 2: you only realize this in a rewatch when you listen
- 57:49Speaker 2: to Maria's dialogue on Monfrilla Bar, which is now like
- 57:54Speaker 2: four hundred episodes ago. But wow, again, episode rewatching one
- 58:00Speaker 2: piece is worth it that re acity And yeah, what
- 58:08Speaker 2: I mean, you didn't expect Sorrow to do what he
- 58:10Speaker 2: does here? But what did you expect if him going
- 58:15Speaker 2: to jail or to kill himself.
- 58:18Speaker 1: When he is just like I guess by it's by then,
- 58:22Speaker 1: like he says something really casual, like he is just
- 58:26Speaker 1: going to kill himself, and I'm watching him, like, I
- 58:31Speaker 1: know that you don't really value your own life all
- 58:34Speaker 1: that much, but this is too passive even for you,
- 58:37Speaker 1: because the whole thing is maintain your role is what
- 58:44Speaker 1: plays in everybody's heads every time they start to consider
- 58:49Speaker 1: deviating from the character they've chosen to play in this town.
- 58:54Speaker 1: And so the thing that he keeps telling himself is
- 59:00Speaker 1: I have to keep the peace and not fight back
- 59:03Speaker 1: against all of these guys. And I'm like, I'm pretty
- 59:06Speaker 1: sure that Keenumon would not be mad at you not
- 59:09Speaker 1: killing yourself or the sake of keeping up the intrigue.
- 59:16Speaker 1: I don't think you'd expect that of you, But you
- 59:18Speaker 1: know what, maybe he would. That dude's crazy, so perhaps
- 59:23Speaker 1: he would. I But like I said, the fact that
- 59:30Speaker 1: he Here's the thing that's so funny to me is like,
- 59:35Speaker 1: when you stop and think about it, it actually makes sense,
- 59:40Speaker 1: even though at first blush for me, it kind of doesn't.
- 59:43Speaker 1: But the more I think about it, the more I'm like, yeah, well,
- 59:45Speaker 1: you're assigning the wrong motivations, because like he looks like
- 59:48Speaker 1: he's just gonna go ahead and kill himself. And then
- 59:51Speaker 1: he catches a whiff of the dude judging him, whose
- 59:55Speaker 1: name I do not remember that it's okay, Yeah, he's like,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: oh the smell of blood, you're the slasher, kills the
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: guy and takes off, which I think I would be like, oh, okay,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: so he's doing this in order to avoid death himself.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: But wouldn't you want to prove that the guy is
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: the slasher so that they're not still after you. But
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: that's not really why he does it. He doesn't out
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: this guy and kill him because he's trying to keep
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: himself alive. He does it because this guy is hurting
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: people and Zoro is just like not going to have that.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: He's not gonna leave this guy alive to go around
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: the hurting more people. So the fact that he doesn't
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: wind up dead himself is incidental to the fact that
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: he just wanted to ensure that this dude could not
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: commit any more murders.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: I think, I mean in the beginning, when he are
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: still when they're on the street, Sorro stops him, and
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: he says something like he tells him like he don't
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: he stops him. He could just let him run past him,
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: but he's kind of like already there deciding to put
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: an end to this for what reason? Basically, you know,
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: he could just do nothing and not speak to this guy,
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: you know, and not holding up, but he does. So
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: I think I think there's something there in in your
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: theory and what you're in your takeaway of this.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: I don't want I just want to know how we
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: prove that this is the guy who was doing it.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: We don't really hear much about the slashings, you know,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: like with the there's like villagers gossiping about it later,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: but there's not really that many specifics, And I don't
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: know if there is a way to prove that it
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: was this guy. Was he was he like a deranged
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: serial killer. There's a point when he's practicing with his
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: sword where he says something like swords grow stronger the
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: more human blood they drink. He says something.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: Crazy, yeah, and everybody's just like, and here's the true killer.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Did you hear him? So maybe that was the only
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: reason why is that he he's like literally killing people
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: because he thinks that it's doing something to like make
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: his blades stronger. But like other I what I was
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: gonna say was if he is like a crazy serial
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: killer that doing this sort of thing that in serial
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: killer lore, there's often like, uh, what do you call them?
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Trophies that the killer will accumulate. They'll take a piece
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: of jewelry, or they'll take like a lock of hair,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: so that eventually you can tie them definitively back to
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: the victim somehow. And I don't know if they're if
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: he was doing anything like that, are they going to
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: go into his apartment and find a bunch of stuff
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: that now that you know he's dead and he's not
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: there to prevent you from rifling through all of his stuff.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: It reveals I feel like Sorrow doesn't care.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Zorro definitely doesn't care. I am very stuck on this.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, I know that you do, but Soro doesn't.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: So yeah, m hmm, we will. It's a little funny
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: moment where Usop is kind of like talking like being
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: accused of you noticed leisure and he has like I
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: have tank kids and the youngest is only seven.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: Yeah, my wife had like three sets of twins somehow.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely, yeah, yeah, but okay, I kind of also
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: wanted to talk about the last episode, which is I mean,
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: it's not that much, but it is Loofy on the
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: beach mm hmm, and we get like the flashback that
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: we already talked about. I wanted you to ask and
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: wanted to ask you, have you realized that Lufy used
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: the future side future vision thing in this episode.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: There's a point where the camera zooms in on his
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: eyes and there's like an effect that happens, So I
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I I felt like he did something with hockey, but
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: I wasn't sure what it was.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: That makes sense now that you say bullet, Yeah, it
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: doesn't look in this direction. And I'm just gonna say
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: when I saw this, I cheered so much because sometimes
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: people or like characters get like power upgrades and then
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: don't use them or like it doesn't come really into play,
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: and this was kind of like confirming like, oh no,
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: he has this in the bag now, like and I'm like, yay,
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: like this is awesome. I love to see that that
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: this is something that our Loofy is able to do.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Now, Yeah, I I I don't read that many like
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: what's the word I want lit RPG or what is
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: the name of this? Is this show in what is
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: the name of this type of Yeah, okay, so people
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: acquiring powers and stuff? Is it something that I have
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: a lot of exposure to in fiction, But I have
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: heard that this is something that a lot of people
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: will get irritated by. Is like the introduction of a
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: power clearly meant to deal with this specific plot line here,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: and then later, once we're done with that plot, we
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: act like they can't do that anymore because it's simply
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: too convenient and that it would solve too many problems
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: and then we would have no story. And I appreciate
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: that it's not like louviy was able to achieve that
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: future site, but like not super consistently, not always available
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: at the drop of a hat. He has really had
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: to like work for it. And I wouldn't be mad
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: if it were the sort of thing that he doesn't
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: get right all the time. But yeah, let's not pretend
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: that he doesn't have this ability. You can explain it
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: by having it be that he isn't always quite able
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: to Like it's not at will. It's sort of an
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: involuntary thing during a moment of crisis that I could believe.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: You know it is also if you want to talk
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: about it, it doesn't matter because it's a bullet and
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: we know his bulletproof is sure, yes, but it's still
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: a cool moment. I just like like to to see him.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Agreed.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and you said, I forgot that this episode was
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: called Lufi versus the Army of Caido. It's like two people,
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: it's two dudes.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: I was really expecting something, guys. I tried, like I
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: had tried for so long not to listen to the
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: titles and stuff, and I was able to do that
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: for the most part until I started watching through crunchy roll,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: which makes it a lot harder just the way that
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: they have things set up. It's not as convenient. And
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: so this is one where I saw the title before
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: I started it, and I really had like I was
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: actually thinking to myself when I saw the title already,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: that escalates quick, And no it doesn't. It does not
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: escalate that quick. It's just not what it sounds like.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: It's weird, how like these titles can be so detailed
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: that they tell you way too much, but they can
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: also just lie to you basically straight up I guess
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: these guys are technically members of his army maybe.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: I mean, I mean we I think they have like
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: a transpondo snail and not talking to title.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: But they're not even talking to him right there?
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: Is it?
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: The guy with the cards. That's why I was assuming
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: it is.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Oh my god, I'm so proud of you. Yes, because
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: you see him.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: In profile and I was like, oh, that's a fucking
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: tarot guy.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: That's what I think. Mest's see he's here as well.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: We haven't seen him in a while, but yes, Hawkins,
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: his name is Hawkins.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: Yes, I was kind of like, oh, should I ask
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: her if she knows who that is? But you know, okay,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: But I also remember that you were kind of just
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: like intwequed by him. I remember that.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Yeah, And he's got a really particular I mean, they
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: all have particular looks, but in profile, I feel like
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: he is very recognizable, and he has like a really
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: low key way about him as well, so the weirdly
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: laid back vibe despite being like, he's like bloodthirsty, but
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: he's not agro in the way that you're used to.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: When you think of that the combo, I was just
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: like yeah, this is that weird guy I can't remember.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: It's not like I can remember his name, so don't
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: be too proud of me, Hawkins. But you know, the
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Tarot thing is also particular to my hyper fixations and interests,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: So there's that that's fair.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: But it seems like the probably will get more of
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: him here because well not because but I mean last
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: time we got some a little bit more Beje Beji,
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: who we also met in the back in Sabodi. So
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: like it seems like these characters from from that time
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: seemed to pop up here and there. Yeah, which again,
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: rewatching makes it so much more fun, Like, oh, you're
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: you're later on, you're doing this and death and all
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: of them, you know.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Like you're talking about how Maria was beaten by Kaido.
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: I cannot tell you how I didn't remember that. Like
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: that's practically brand new information to me at this point
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: because I do not remember. But if I, like, if
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I were going back and I heard that, I would
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: be like, oh, we're hearing about this all the way
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: back here, you know, I really do, like there's no
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: avoiding it. But I really do regret that I don't
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: have the frame of reference for something, so I don't
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: retain them, you know, not like partially because I can.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: I'm sure for some folks like listening to the show
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: they get frustrated, but even less for that, I feel
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: like there's just a lot of enjoyment to be had
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: from connecting these dots, and I just can't do it
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: the first time around. It's just that it's not how
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: this is designed.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: So yeah, it's I mean, it's but a different experience,
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: you know, And I feel like and also a valid
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: one because I enjoy listening to your thoughts and even
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: if you don't connect the dots, you still have interesting
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: and valid takes.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: Now, Yeah, Loofy on the beach basically knocks those two
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: people out. But before that, a dog question, Mark.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: I, what is he talking about? A dog? What are
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: you talking about?
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Sir? I'm gonna tell you this is going to be
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: referred to as a dog. I think maybe it's meant
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: to be like a temple dog, you know, like the
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: stanches of those temple dogs.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Okay, mmmmm hmmm.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: I think that's the inspiration, but it is weird looking still.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: A temple dog would really be a good explanation because
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: I'm looking at it, and I'm just like, the closest
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: I can get is lion, and it doesn't really even
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: quite look like a lion either. But dog doesn't feel
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: right at all, So I think you're right. Once I
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: take once, I like step back and look at the
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: overall design. This is just what that kind of stylized
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: figure looks like. Oh, Saraphim isn't sorry, Saraphim has been
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: commenting a bunch and I'm only just seeing it. Koma
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: u is what it's called. An U is Japanese for dog. Okay, yeah,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: this uh koma chios is this specific guy's name, this
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: specific dog. I hate saying that, though, but fair the
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: lion quality of it cannot be overstated. Though he's got
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: a full on maine. He's got a tail that's not
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: quite lion like, but it is definitely like flufy in
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: a way that feels like it doesn't match the rest
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: of the body in a way that lions are, you know. Overall,
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: I am really curious to see who designed the Temple
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: dogs and what dog they were looking at when they
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: designed that, because that must have been a real weird
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: looking dog that you based all of your stuff on.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: It feels more like, you know how their drawings of it. Basically,
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: people went to Africa where long pastimes and came back
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: to Europe and we're like you had there, like these
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: things called elephants and they're like gray, have huge ears
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: a trunk and then people start to draw it right,
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: and it's just.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Like the weirdest fucking creature.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it's basically this where somebody saw a dog and
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: somebody who has never seen a dog gets explained to
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: it what a dog is like and has to draw its,
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: like make a statue of it.
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: It's like kind of like this, I guess, which like
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: fair not everybody is an artist. And if you're just
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: going from memory as well, like how much is your
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: memory going to shift what it looks like after a
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: months long travel to get home again and having to
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: recall Yeah, it's really no surprise. It's like a game
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: of telephone with yourself.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: It is. Yeah, I mean memory is memory is weird? Trust?
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: Oh no it is not.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: Guys.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: Oh oh you want to tell a story?
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: No I don't.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: I'm just don't remember it.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Anybody who is who has been like a major part
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: of Unspoiled community over the past month We're currently in
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: July of twenty twenty six. Will will know how many
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: fuck ups I made just over the past two weeks,
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: with like putting the wrong theme song to certain shows,
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: forgetting to edit an outro, forgetting to add it to
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: the podcast like feed at all, or misnaming it, or
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: losing the episode, like watching the wrong episodes happen. For
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: one piece, I read the wrong chapters for one of
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: the books I'm covering. I mean, I can't not tell you, guys,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: my memory has been fucked for the past month in
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: a way that is really starting to like low key
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: worry me no, And I'm just like, it's the fucking perimenopause,
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: is what it is. They don't talk about this enough,
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: but I think that women need to like hear more
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: about the various symptoms because you just think you're losing it,
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: and you are losing it, but it's like your body
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: is doing this to you. It's not aging in a
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: simple sense of just our brains begin to not function
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: as well. It's the hormone changes fuck up how everything works.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: Yeah, so, I mean, I'm not an expert, but as
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: far as I understand, it is not a kind of
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: like a second property, you know, like where you whole
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: hormone household really changes.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: It's a weird thing where it's like the reverse of puberty,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: because like what happens for us for puberty is that
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: we begin to produce a lot more estrogen and progesterone,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: but parentmenopause that drops away, and that's part of why
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: we stop ovulating or yeah, And so when we go
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: through it, we become more hormonally like men. And this
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: results in the hourglass figure filling out and becoming more square,
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: the full lips thinning. Everything that we associate with a
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: feminine appearance begins to be undone by the hormones reducing,
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: and we as people are fed the fuck up with
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: everybody in a way that is closer to how men
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: are all the time. But it's the first time for
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: us that we have really felt like The dudes will
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: often talk about dealing with women in menopause and how
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: much more challenging we are, and the reality is that's
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: because we're bringing we're matching energy with you, and you
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: are difficult, and we just would capitulate a lot, but
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: there comes a point where we don't do that the
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: same way. This also results in many more divorces.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: That anyway, Yes, you're not looking like they used to look. Yeah, anyway,
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: Gloopy punches these guise in the face and we get Tala.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: I just needed to think about her name and this
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: little kid, and I'm just gonna tell you already in
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: terms of kid characters.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: Yes, I think she's very solid, agreed and ye know what?
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: Yeah, what are your thoughts? And we also get to
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: see her ability in action.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Yeah I don't. We don't really fully get like what
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: this is like in explained in words. We see her
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: like make something that appears on her face that she
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: pulls off, and it's a treat for the dog. I
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: really hate that I have to call it the dog,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: but I have to because it's just so much easier.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: But we don't know what it's made out of, Like,
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: I don't think she says, does she? It looked like
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: a rice ball or a cookie or something, yeah, out
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: of her face. So I'm just like, girl, what was that?
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: Is that?
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: Bone?
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: Is it? We don't know yet, but I'm gonna say
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: tell you. This is also a Japanese folklore where basically
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: a person has this treats and feeds it to a dog.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: And a monkey, and I feel like to a third
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: animal and basically becomes friends with them. Okay, And it
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: is like a pretty popular or folklore in Japan. Okay,
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: and this is basically what this is based on. And
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: it seems like when she feeds it to the monkey
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: that he becomes friendly to her, Yes, magically.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: And apparently he's been a real pain in the ass
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: to deal with, so getting him to be friendly is
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: a huge accomplishment because this has been something that's like
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: resulted in I don't know if it's like I can't
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: say that it resulted in her getting captured by these
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: guys because that's not what I think happened there. But
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: we don't really find out what the circumstances were leading
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: up to her getting captured. The only thing we get
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: is like a really brief clip of her yelling that
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: you're gonna get yours at some point because you guys
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: are enemies, and she's mentioned somebody specifically I don't remember.
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: She says the Kosuki Klan, and the Kosuki is basically
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: almost famably because moment is and Sarah f M says, yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: she says it. She said, calls it the KEEPI doango,
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: and it is some kind of dumpling apparently dumpling.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: Oh my god, if I could just make dumplings come
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: out of it. I love dumpling so much, y'all. I
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: it's a problem. They're not cheap and I I'm not
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: going to get into this, but I love them. I
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: love them, and they are so high energy to make.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I never make them. I will only buy them. And
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: they're not cheap to buy either. And I could eat
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: like thirty of them and be like, I might be done.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: I might, but I could probably have another one if
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: I could just make dumping. The only thing is that
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: you don't always have sauce on you, and that's rough
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: dumpling without sauce.
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, that's ofugh. I love them as well,
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: but for me, it's truly out of the prising. Yeah,
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: it's because oftentimes it's kind of you get six for
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: like fifteen or sixteen yeah here, and it's kind of
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: like six.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: I buy them frozen. There's like a company called Nila,
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: and they're kind of pricey through them and my husband
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: just went to a Asian grocer and bought a couple bags.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: And I'm stoked because they're different flavors and he bought
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: dumpling sauce, and so yeah, we're gonna fucking tear up
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: some dumplings later. And I'm so excited about it. But
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: they you know, it's a yeah, you are not gonna
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: get full on dumplings unless you're willing to spend way
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: more than you want to spend. They are an appetizer. Yeah, sad,
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: but true.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: It is so well, is there anything I mean, yeah,
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: is there anything that you wanted to talk about in
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: these episodes that we have not talked about yet?
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm trying to think because it's like, I.
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: Mean, we also see Looviy using his conqueror's hockey on
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: the monkey and basically taming him or them. I don't
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: know the gender of the monkey, but that's very basically
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: be like sit down. I think she calls it a
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: he I think so too. Yeah, And I like to
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: see that Louvy doesn't at least not need to punch
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: anymals anymore.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: That's true.
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: So I hope you're happy with that. It's a little
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: bit more humane way.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: Yes, definitely. I this little girl being able to make
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: dumplings too. It surprised me that Lufy doesn't have a
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: stronger reaction to that, Like with the eater that he is,
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: I would really expect him to just be like, can
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: I have some? Can you make me some?
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: But maybe that's coming. I don't know.
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: We have we come off a food based arc where
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: it has been said.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: That, oh, the food that you make from your powers
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: is not good. Yeah, you're right. Lufy is not that
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: smart or discerning though, so probably he'd still ask for it, I.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: Think probably, but maybe he didn't realize what it was.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Yeah, just like what is that?
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: In general?
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: I'm like, what, Yeah, I don't know what to like.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: The dog is hers already, She's right, yeah, so this
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: is like just the second pet that she's acquired. Pretty much.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: That's handy damn.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: So what are your final thoughts and maybe some expectation
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: prediction for this are.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: I'm trying to think because like, I don't know, I
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: I don't know enough about the enemy that we're dealing
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: with and exactly what the setup is there. This little
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: girl like talking shit means that there are definitely some
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: people who are very vocally not happy, but she's the
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: only one that we really see so far, and she.
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: And she gets grapped up immediately.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and they talk about like, oh, well, he'll make
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: a great laborer and you're gonna have a lifetime of slavery.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: So obviously they're doing something somewhere. It's very funny to
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: me how they're just like, yeah, dude, lifetime of slavery.
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: And then he dares to fight back, and they're just like,
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: what the fuck? Yeah, he doesn't want a lifetime of slavery, guys,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: I know, it's crazy. He hasn't. He didn't even hear
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: them say that, but well maybe he did.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: What do I know?
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't. I don't know, like especially because
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: we don't see where everybody else, what they're up to,
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: and how far apart we are, So I don't know
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: how long before we rejoin each other, if it's going
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: to be like a whole arc where we're separated on
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: totally different sides of the island, or is it just
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: gonna be a few episodes with us meeting different people
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: and then we reconnect and we've brought together the team
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: with disparate players from you know, I don't know. I
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: don't have any theory yet.
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: I'm excited. I'm really excited for this one. I don't know,
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: it's just it's gonna be so good.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Yay, Okay, I love that. I love seeing that excitement.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: It gets me excited. That's that's exactly what I want
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: to see.
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: This is.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the vibe as well with like this
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: season of Supernatural and Marashaan is just like giddy most
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: of the time, and I'm just like, oh shit, okay,
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: it's happening.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's it's gonna be so many, so many
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: great things are coming your way. Mm hmm.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: All right, well, I guess that's everything. Perfect timing, though,
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: Is there anything else that you want to say before
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: wrapping up?
