Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: Here we go, third hour. I am literally turning the
- 0:06Speaker 1: page to the rundown. There it is. I just turned
- 0:08Speaker 1: it around. It is a show fifty five eighty four
- 0:11Speaker 1: of the Morning Show with Preston Scott. He's oseaia On Preston,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and it is Thursday, and usually Thursdays are kind of
- 0:17Speaker 1: busy around here, and I love it because, quite candidly,
- 0:20Speaker 1: it just kind of gives me a day to just
- 0:21Speaker 1: catch my breath and interact with others. And great guest
- 0:25Speaker 1: today he is Luke Murphy. Luke is running for Congress.
- 0:29Speaker 1: The website where you can find information about him. If
- 0:33Speaker 1: what you learn in this next forty five minutes or
- 0:36Speaker 1: so isn't enough, you can go to Luke Murphy for
- 0:39Speaker 1: Congress and it's just spelled out as you would think.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Luke Murphyfourcongress dot com. And joining us on the program
- 0:45Speaker 1: is a man who actually called me out on What's
- 0:48Speaker 1: the Beef last week.
- 0:50Speaker 2: He is Luke Murphy. How are you, Bud? I'm great, brother, Preston.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Thank you for having me.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, you said to me that we had met
- 0:58Speaker 1: a few years ago, and it was when I saw
- 0:59Speaker 1: the book, My god, we did.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Yeah, we've met at Kevin's Guns, Dave's Pizza garage, Heinz Nursery.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Okay, studio, I know you are. You're a big fellow,
- 1:09Speaker 1: easy to see, all right, So let's talk about the
- 1:13Speaker 1: book because the book kind of capsulates your military world
- 1:20Speaker 1: to some degree. You served in the Army one hundred
- 1:24Speaker 1: and first Airborne. I have to ask, do you get
- 1:27Speaker 1: to pick that or does that get to pick you?
- 1:29Speaker 1: I picked that, and that was actually one of the
- 1:31Speaker 1: two times I felt called in my life. It was
- 1:34Speaker 1: after nine to eleven. It was my Purple Heart. I'm sorry,
- 1:37Speaker 1: my Pearl Harbor.
- 1:38Speaker 2: And you know, forty percent of our country volunteered after
- 1:41Speaker 2: Pearl Harbor, one percent after nine to eleven and arguably
- 1:45Speaker 2: killing three thousand Americans on American soil. I thought was
- 1:48Speaker 2: a bigger deal, and I felt called to go. I
- 1:52Speaker 2: chose the one hundred first Airborne because they're an assault
- 1:55Speaker 2: division and I knew that they would be coming in
- 1:57Speaker 2: on helicopter. I know their history. My dad's the United
- 2:00Speaker 2: States Marine. I was raised on a dirt road. Yeah,
- 2:02Speaker 2: three brothers, tough as hell, but I ended up in
- 2:06Speaker 2: the one hundred first. When I got there, they said,
- 2:08Speaker 2: hope you don't go to the Rocaissans. It's the hardest unit.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Secretary of War Pete Hegseth served in my exact unit,
- 2:15Speaker 2: and that's the one I drove right to and asked.
- 2:17Speaker 1: To be a member of. You knew its history absolutely,
- 2:22Speaker 1: because the history of the one hundred and first is legendary. Yes, sir, yes, sir.
- 2:28Speaker 2: You know Audi Murphy of sixteen million veterans, the most
- 2:31Speaker 2: decorated Michael Murphy Murph, that was my nickname. You know,
- 2:35Speaker 2: led the Sealed Team from Lone Survivor. It's not enough
- 2:39Speaker 2: just to show up.
- 2:40Speaker 1: It's the spirit that you bring to a fight that
- 2:42Speaker 1: wins the day. How much of your decision to be
- 2:46Speaker 1: in the military has brought you to where you are
- 2:50Speaker 1: right now with the decision, because look, I'm not making
- 2:53Speaker 1: light of this when I say it, this is a
- 2:56Speaker 1: different form of combat. Being in politics in America, especially
- 3:01Speaker 1: right now, is combat. It's just different kind. Absolutely, it's
- 3:06Speaker 1: the same. I knew at ten years old I wanted
- 3:08Speaker 1: to serve. I was watching Desert Storm on TV, and
- 3:11Speaker 1: I thought I missed my opportunity. When I was seventeen,
- 3:14Speaker 1: my dad signed for me. I was not old enough
- 3:17Speaker 1: to sign. I got there as fast as I could.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Serve two tours and we can get into that had
- 3:22Speaker 1: forty one surgeries, but I've never stopped serving.
- 3:25Speaker 2: My whole lifetrack record is service and bloodsport combat. You're
- 3:31Speaker 2: talking to an infantry guy. I've kicked a lot of
- 3:33Speaker 2: doors down. I trained men to kill, capture, or take
- 3:37Speaker 2: the enemy's fight away. That's what we do. So I
- 3:41Speaker 2: stepped out here in the open. Honey, if you're listening,
- 3:43Speaker 2: I love you all my family and friends.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I love you. Neil Dunn.
- 3:47Speaker 2: You know I heard what's happening, and the fact that
- 3:48Speaker 2: you're still in the fight. I love you, I respect you.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Steve Sutherland, I helped you.
- 3:52Speaker 1: I love you. But yeah, I'm not afraid. I'm right
- 3:55Speaker 1: out here. Take your shots. I fire back.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I hope everybody that's in this race stays, isn't it
- 4:00Speaker 2: look forward to seeing them on stage.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you said we want to get into it. I
- 4:06Speaker 1: want to do just that, and we will do that. Next.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I want to talk for just a brief moment of
- 4:12Speaker 1: what happened. You lost a leg, you had badly injured
- 4:15Speaker 1: a second leg. I want to talk a little bit
- 4:17Speaker 1: about what happened, and then the aftermath of that, because
- 4:20Speaker 1: that's a part of your story. It's huge, but it's
- 4:25Speaker 1: I think it's a foundational maybe part of your story.
- 4:28Speaker 1: As you move forward, you're going to be able to
- 4:29Speaker 1: correct me if I'm wrong. Yeah, I'd like to say
- 4:31Speaker 1: it doesn't define me. But you know, life's one percent
- 4:35Speaker 1: what happens to you ninety nine percent how you react
- 4:37Speaker 1: to it. I think I've done a pretty dang good
- 4:39Speaker 1: overcoming a job overcoming it. Congressional candidate for the second
- 4:47Speaker 1: Congressional District for the GOP Luke Murphy, My guest, what
- 4:54Speaker 1: happened when when you hit the iad describe the mission
- 4:58Speaker 1: and what was going on.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So we were in Solder City, Bagdad. If you guys
- 5:03Speaker 2: seen that movie American Sniper with Chris Kyle where his
- 5:06Speaker 2: partner gets shot and killed on the rooftop, it was
- 5:09Speaker 2: the same time, same same year, same everything. I was
- 5:12Speaker 2: coming out of Solder City, been in the city fighting
- 5:14Speaker 2: for over twenty something hours, and they had told us
- 5:17Speaker 2: they were going to get us, and I got hit
- 5:20Speaker 2: by an Iranian made bomb.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It had a garage door laser on it. I couldn't
- 5:24Speaker 1: see it.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I was second truck in the movement, I was the
- 5:27Speaker 2: truck commander in the front right seat. I always rode
- 5:30Speaker 2: second truck because that's the one they tried to hit.
- 5:32Speaker 1: They thought it.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Would be the officer, so we'd put our officer up
- 5:34Speaker 2: front and I would, you know, be bait. But anyway,
- 5:38Speaker 2: the bomb went off, not my first, second, or third
- 5:42Speaker 2: time getting blown up, but this time it sucked all
- 5:44Speaker 2: the wind out of my lungs. I felt a ton
- 5:46Speaker 2: of pain. I looked down. My right leg was gone
- 5:48Speaker 2: above the knee. My left leg had been blown in half,
- 5:51Speaker 2: and I was looking at the bottom of my boot.
- 5:54Speaker 2: My only fear was for my men. How do I
- 5:55Speaker 2: get them out of this burning vehicle, you know? And
- 5:59Speaker 2: I just started yelling. Driver crashed the truck, crashed the
- 6:01Speaker 2: truck because he was pumping the brakes. Nothing was happening.
- 6:04Speaker 2: The round that went through me was in the transmission
- 6:06Speaker 2: and the back right seat, where I never rode anybody
- 6:09Speaker 2: was a fireball, and so I was burning by my
- 6:12Speaker 2: back and neck, and we were all on fire, and
- 6:14Speaker 2: we had grenades in the vehicle, thousands of fifty col rounds.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I knew I had to get him out of the truck.
- 6:19Speaker 2: So he crashed the truck into a wall of Solder City,
- 6:22Speaker 2: forty thousand bad guys on the inside of the wall
- 6:25Speaker 2: and us out there on the outside. Well, the truck
- 6:28Speaker 2: went halfway through the wall, and I looked around in
- 6:31Speaker 2: the truck and everybody had saved themselves, so all I
- 6:33Speaker 2: had to do was get out the way. The world
- 6:35Speaker 2: was off of me, and the dang wall was up
- 6:37Speaker 2: against my truck or the door, and I just started
- 6:41Speaker 2: elbowing the door as hard as I could, and my
- 6:43Speaker 2: elbow was exploding in blood every time. And I knocked
- 6:47Speaker 2: that three hundred pound door off the hinge and knocked
- 6:49Speaker 2: the wall over, and I crawled out, and I think
- 6:52Speaker 2: God helped me do it.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I was laying on the ground. I was trying to
- 6:55Speaker 1: stay calm.
- 6:56Speaker 2: It was the same day three years earlier a little
- 6:58Speaker 2: girl had walked a grenade and killed my buddy Troy,
- 7:01Speaker 2: which I wrote about in my book. And I just
- 7:04Speaker 2: wanted to stay calm. And when the medic got to me,
- 7:06Speaker 2: I asked me if I needed morphine. I turned it down.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I just held the pain in one spot in my
- 7:11Speaker 2: head and I tried to get home. I wanted to
- 7:13Speaker 2: get home from my family, didn't want to ruin my
- 7:15Speaker 2: mom's life, and you know, just had to fight like
- 7:19Speaker 2: held to stay awake, and my men got me back
- 7:22Speaker 2: to our base within eighteen minutes. You got a golden
- 7:25Speaker 2: hours what we call it. I've had many Vietnam vets
- 7:28Speaker 2: tell me they wouldn't even have evacuated me.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I was dead. You know a lot of those guys
- 7:32Speaker 1: lost limbs to gang green a traumatic injury like this
- 7:36Speaker 1: traumatic amputation. You know you're bleeding out fast? Yeah, how
- 7:40Speaker 1: did they get you out? Well?
- 7:42Speaker 2: I mean over outnumbered is an understatement. We were always outnumbered.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I've been out numbered my whole life. I'm not don't worry
- 7:49Speaker 2: about that.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Brother.
- 7:51Speaker 2: We would roll in the sad city with my ten men.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I was a recon team leader against forty thousand, and
- 7:56Speaker 2: we got lit up every time we went in and
- 7:59Speaker 2: truthfully never scared. The only fear I had was that
- 8:02Speaker 2: I'd make a bad decision that would get one of
- 8:04Speaker 2: my guys hurt.
- 8:06Speaker 1: How does that impact your trajectory moving forward? Okay, so
- 8:11Speaker 1: we go through the recovery time, which you know that
- 8:15Speaker 1: that probably has untold numbers of stories attached to it,
- 8:18Speaker 1: but accelerate the trajectory that gets us to point B.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Right now.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Well, a lot of people have accused me of being
- 8:25Speaker 2: in a hurry in my life. We're all running our
- 8:27Speaker 2: own race. Sorry if my pace is a little faster
- 8:29Speaker 2: than everyone else's. I'm just who I am. You know,
- 8:32Speaker 2: I've had hard jobs since I was eleven. To all
- 8:35Speaker 2: the folks listening that are veterans, later veterans, you know
- 8:38Speaker 2: I was working hard at eleven years old. I've worked
- 8:40Speaker 2: in fields beside migrants.
- 8:42Speaker 1: You know.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I bought my first truck cash when I was fifteen.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I've had no help.
- 8:47Speaker 1: You know.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I've always looked at the world as hey, it's tough.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You know, Sorry, pull up your bootstraps. You know I've
- 8:53Speaker 2: identified with the Framers, you know, personal responsibility, courage, you know,
- 8:58Speaker 2: American values.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I've always been this way.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I voted for George Bush when I was eighteen, and
- 9:04Speaker 2: I've voted Republican every time. I was in all of
- 9:07Speaker 2: Steve Steve Sutheran's commercials. And you know I spoke at
- 9:11Speaker 2: Governor Scott's second inauguration, Preston, I'm gonna go get her.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I want to help. I love this country. I was
- 9:18Speaker 2: taught to leave everything better than the way you found it.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And you know, I've never stopped wanting to serve and
- 9:25Speaker 2: ask not what this country can do for me, but
- 9:27Speaker 2: what I can do for it.
- 9:29Speaker 1: He's Luke Murphy and he's a GOP candidate for the
- 9:32Speaker 1: second congressional District. And that's us. For a lot of
- 9:37Speaker 1: you listening on terrestrial radio, is that that's you? This
- 9:41Speaker 1: is your contest. You got Jimmy Petronis on one side,
- 9:44Speaker 1: You've got Kat Camick on the other. And this will
- 9:48Speaker 1: be the seat that Neil Dunn is leaving. He's stepping down,
- 9:53Speaker 1: and Luke wants the job. Before we talk about specific policies,
- 10:01Speaker 1: was there a I kind of asked, is there a
- 10:04Speaker 1: popeye moment? Was there something that has happened in the
- 10:07Speaker 1: last year or two or five that you said, that's it.
- 10:15Speaker 1: If the opportunity comes up, I'm getting in the race.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I'd say no, But for the last twenty years since
- 10:21Speaker 2: I was wounded, it's twenty years ago this month. I
- 10:24Speaker 2: drove home this day on two thousand and seven, and
- 10:28Speaker 2: when Virginia tech shooter did what he did, I was outraged.
- 10:32Speaker 2: But Code Pink was at my gate at Walter Reed's
- 10:34Speaker 2: screaming at me. President Obama said, you didn't build that.
- 10:37Speaker 2: When Harry Reid was asked, do you regret lying about
- 10:40Speaker 2: Mitt Romney's taxes, and he said he didn't win, did he?
- 10:43Speaker 2: These people are about power, you know, they have no values.
- 10:46Speaker 2: They're hypocrites. I'm tired of people going to Washington and
- 10:48Speaker 2: riching themselves. When Congressman Neil Donn said he was stepping down,
- 10:54Speaker 2: it's not the best time of my life to do this.
- 10:56Speaker 2: But these folks go up there and they sit there
- 10:58Speaker 2: for forty or fifty years. I want to stop that.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I want to retire some of these dinosaurs. I want
- 11:04Speaker 2: new blood in there constantly. I want to end insider trading.
- 11:07Speaker 2: There's so much. I can't wait for you to ask
- 11:09Speaker 2: me about. Shoot Preston.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Well, you know, and you're right, there is a lot,
- 11:14Speaker 1: and I think that's one of the big challenges. It's
- 11:16Speaker 1: like when you're a kid and your mom says, clean
- 11:18Speaker 1: up your room, and your room's a disaster, and you
- 11:20Speaker 1: don't know where to start. It is such a dysfunctional
- 11:23Speaker 1: system of government. But it's the best in the world.
- 11:26Speaker 1: It is. We just lost our way with it. So
- 11:29Speaker 1: where would you start? I mean, you tell me, what
- 11:33Speaker 1: are the policy things that on the whiteboard or on
- 11:37Speaker 1: the sticky notes. Are the ones that you see the
- 11:41Speaker 1: most often and are the ones that have your attention.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Well, I'm a big hunter fisherman. I've been to the
- 11:46Speaker 2: southern border seventeen years in a row. I saw it
- 11:49Speaker 2: turn into a disaster. Why Alexandro my Orcus said it
- 11:53Speaker 2: was closed. I was on a ranch where a thousand
- 11:55Speaker 2: men were rounded up in one day and there was
- 11:57Speaker 2: three of us with bolt action rifles. Ridiculous. You know,
- 12:01Speaker 2: the biggest thing is the economy, our safety, security, our borders.
- 12:05Speaker 2: You know we are a nation of loss. You know
- 12:09Speaker 2: this is a sovereign nation. Look up the definition of it.
- 12:11Speaker 2: We have a morality problem. You know, people don't know
- 12:13Speaker 2: right from wrong. But truthfully, I want term limits.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I want it. I want Jimmy to work with me.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I want Cat to work with me. We got to
- 12:22Speaker 1: have it. And President, I've got a lot of learning
- 12:25Speaker 1: to do. I'm a little bit naive.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I will learn the rules and I will develop relationships.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I will reach across the aisle. I will work with
- 12:33Speaker 2: these people, veterans. You know, we were willing to die
- 12:37Speaker 2: for this country. We will put the country first. So
- 12:40Speaker 2: term limits and insider trading. I'm an agriculture guy. I've
- 12:44Speaker 2: sweat and bled for a paycheck, and I'm a veteran guy.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Everything else I can learn it, you know, and we
- 12:51Speaker 2: can we can use common sense. We don't need somebody
- 12:54Speaker 2: that says they got all the answers or that they
- 12:57Speaker 2: can hit the ground running. This is trench warfailre. Nobody's
- 13:00Speaker 2: hitting the ground running. We've got enough lawyers in DC
- 13:03Speaker 2: and enough fundraisers. We need veterans. I told you last
- 13:06Speaker 2: week we had sixty eight percent combat veterans in Congress
- 13:09Speaker 2: at one point. Now we have sixteen percent. And they
- 13:12Speaker 2: don't put the country first.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Putting the country first requires not just reaching across the aisle,
- 13:22Speaker 1: which I'm not sure how effective that is anymore, because
- 13:27Speaker 1: the difference between what the left thinks and what the
- 13:30Speaker 1: right thinks is pretty vast. I mean, it just just is.
- 13:34Speaker 1: But there are now even divisions within the right side
- 13:38Speaker 1: of the aisle. Is that I mean, do you feel
- 13:41Speaker 1: like you've got to almost start there?
- 13:43Speaker 2: Well, you know, it's like a family, you know, I
- 13:45Speaker 2: could say that my mom's an illiberal Sorry to quote
- 13:48Speaker 2: one of your words there.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And don't be sorry. I love that you're quoting that
- 13:52Speaker 1: one of my son's listen. He's gonna ask me what
- 13:54Speaker 1: Clantifa is at the end of this. But anyway, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 1: I was talking to a com Rismith and Jacksonville and
- 14:01Speaker 1: he said, man, we spoke twenty minutes and he never
- 14:03Speaker 1: bowed mounted any of the other opponents.
- 14:06Speaker 2: You're a positive guy. We need more of that in Washington.
- 14:08Speaker 2: We're always in fighting. So back to the family. Let's
- 14:11Speaker 2: close the door. Let's knock heads around, but when we
- 14:14Speaker 2: leave that door, let's leave it there. You know it's
- 14:17Speaker 2: I love that we have the independent thinkers, but I
- 14:20Speaker 2: don't want to be a Ran Paul firebomb thrower who's
- 14:22Speaker 2: on an island and can't get anything done. I've always
- 14:26Speaker 2: been to the right. No one's going to move me
- 14:27Speaker 2: to the center. But I will listen to everyone, and
- 14:30Speaker 2: I will put the people of North Florida on these
- 14:34Speaker 2: shoulders and do what's best for them. This is not
- 14:37Speaker 2: about me, This isn't about ego, this isn't about enriching myself.
- 14:41Speaker 2: This is about service, and I know all about that.
- 14:44Speaker 2: And I can't wait for the people of North Florida
- 14:46Speaker 2: to put aside all the billboards and endorsements and back
- 14:50Speaker 2: the guy that's making the hair on their neck stand
- 14:52Speaker 2: up right now because they've never heard a man speak
- 14:54Speaker 2: like this and they're tired of politicians. And I'm not
- 14:57Speaker 2: a politician, but I'm asking you to throw me in
- 14:59Speaker 2: that brier, Pa, if you go to.
- 15:03Speaker 1: The website, sorry three two, that's where my I tell everybody,
- 15:10Speaker 1: I'm so bad at what I do, but I'm authentically bad.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I'm just me. Welcome the Morning Show with President Scott.
- 15:18Speaker 1: With me is Luke Murphy. He's a GOP candidate for
- 15:21Speaker 1: Florida second Congressional District. And you just go to the
- 15:24Speaker 1: website Luke Murphy for Congress dot com and there you
- 15:27Speaker 1: will find information and if you like, support the campaign
- 15:31Speaker 1: and the candidacy. We've been talking about a lot of
- 15:37Speaker 1: different things, the national debt. You know a lot of
- 15:42Speaker 1: things I love about President Trump. What I don't like
- 15:45Speaker 1: is we're not talking about the debt enough.
- 15:47Speaker 2: We got a problem, Yeah, we got a problem. And
- 15:51Speaker 2: you know, Preston, I'd love the older generations. They paved
- 15:55Speaker 2: the way. I want to respect them.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I want tougher laws for people who abuse the elderly. Yeah,
- 16:00Speaker 1: it wasn't my generation. That started the longest war, but
- 16:02Speaker 1: I did fight in it. It wasn't my generation that
- 16:04Speaker 1: ran us up to forty trillion, but we got to
- 16:06Speaker 1: deal with it. It's time to.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Usher in a new type of politician that'll get this done.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I think it's gonna start with the entitlements, and I mean,
- 16:15Speaker 2: it's gonna be tough, but we're gonna have to have
- 16:18Speaker 2: some cuts.
- 16:18Speaker 1: We're gonna have to grow the economy. We're gonna have
- 16:20Speaker 1: to cut.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sorry, but there are too many people
- 16:25Speaker 2: receiving benefits. And you know, only half this country is
- 16:29Speaker 2: paying taxes.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I'm one of them.
- 16:30Speaker 2: I always pay early. I know that sounds dumb to
- 16:33Speaker 2: some of you, but I get paid differently. You know,
- 16:36Speaker 2: I don't. It doesn't come out every week. It only
- 16:38Speaker 2: comes out when I earn it, and I have to
- 16:39Speaker 2: save it to the end of the year. And it's
- 16:41Speaker 2: always my biggest account. And I would love to have
- 16:43Speaker 2: that to invest in my business. I'm with you, I'd
- 16:46Speaker 2: like a flat tax to get rid of the irs.
- 16:48Speaker 1: But actually I don't want a flat tax. I want
- 16:50Speaker 1: I want I want the uh the tax that is
- 16:54Speaker 1: basically a consumption tax. I thought that fair tax Okay,
- 16:57Speaker 1: I thought that was the flat Well yeah, here's why
- 17:00Speaker 1: I'm against the flat tax, because that's how we got
- 17:02Speaker 1: where we are. We started as a flat tax. Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I like the idea of consumption more, you know more
- 17:07Speaker 1: you well, it's what Florida does. Yeah, it works for us. Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Well it's I hate to say it, but it's it's
- 17:14Speaker 2: got to start with the entitlements, it really does.
- 17:17Speaker 1: That's where a lot of the money's going. Now, the
- 17:19Speaker 1: waste fraud abuse, it's everywhere. Well and that's to me
- 17:22Speaker 1: where you have to start there. And we're trying to,
- 17:25Speaker 1: but it doesn't seem like and I suspect that that
- 17:28Speaker 1: President Trump got a little tired of not going after
- 17:31Speaker 1: the waste and abuse and the people responsible for it.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And I think that's why the change was made at
- 17:35Speaker 1: the Attorney General's office. That's my personal conviction. But you've
- 17:39Speaker 1: got to punish the people that are stealing money from
- 17:41Speaker 1: this country.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Absolutely, I mean, look look at what Look at the
- 17:45Speaker 2: Samali fraud. Look at everything Elon unveiled. It's it's disgusting.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, let's bring it back local.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I know people who took advantage of of the BP
- 17:56Speaker 2: oil disaster. I know people who were affected by the
- 17:58Speaker 2: hurricanes that got no help. I know people who are
- 18:01Speaker 2: affected by the hurricanes cleaned all their stuff up, then
- 18:04Speaker 2: got money, and now they're, you know, clearing land.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I wasn't supposed to be used for that. You know.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Unfortunately, a lot of Americans are greedy and a lot
- 18:13Speaker 2: of them don't have integrity. And we've got to keep
- 18:16Speaker 2: somebody like Elon Musk and Doge going forever. The presidential
- 18:20Speaker 2: bench is strong, some of the senators are strong. I
- 18:23Speaker 2: want to make Congress stronger.
- 18:25Speaker 1: That's the challenge though, and you've got and you absolutely
- 18:29Speaker 1: know this. I mean when I couldn't help. But think
- 18:32Speaker 1: about when you were talking about Okay, we were a
- 18:34Speaker 1: nine man squad and we were going in there and
- 18:37Speaker 1: fighting against forty thousand. It's not all that dissimilar to
- 18:42Speaker 1: what you're dealing with with Congress. You're one guy, and
- 18:47Speaker 1: you got to find a way to get enough like
- 18:50Speaker 1: minded people on the same page that then try to
- 18:54Speaker 1: impact the rest of them. Yeah.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I had a multi millionaire in Tallasse tell me you're
- 18:58Speaker 2: only going to be one vote. Well, that guy's never
- 19:01Speaker 2: been to war. Because when you're a leader and you're
- 19:03Speaker 2: under fire and everyone's scared, and you crack a joke
- 19:06Speaker 2: or smile at your guys, or lead from the front
- 19:09Speaker 2: by example. You spring up and spring it. It only
- 19:11Speaker 2: takes one spark to start a fire. I will fight
- 19:15Speaker 2: and I will die on that hill. I will get
- 19:18Speaker 2: Cat and Jimmy to help me. We have got to
- 19:20Speaker 2: make tougher decisions. We've got to be more moral. We've
- 19:23Speaker 2: got to put our country first. We've got to stop
- 19:26Speaker 2: people like Elon Omar who are getting rich up there. Preston,
- 19:31Speaker 2: it's a simultaneous attack. You know, you've got to be
- 19:34Speaker 2: able to walk and chew gum. We've got to do
- 19:36Speaker 2: so many different things, but it starts with common sense.
- 19:39Speaker 1: And you know I'm right in that aspect. It's the
- 19:42Speaker 1: Morning Show with Preston Scott. I asked him about something
- 19:52Speaker 1: we just said, and it was extolling the virtues of
- 19:55Speaker 1: Elon Musk, those which were at one hundred percent agreement
- 19:58Speaker 1: on I love Doze and dose needs to happen in
- 20:02Speaker 1: every community in every county and every city in America,
- 20:07Speaker 1: and then others. And you said Elon getting rich, you
- 20:11Speaker 1: meant ill hand Omar. Yes, sir, Sorry, my southern accent,
- 20:14Speaker 1: came over there, you say things like Jose says over there.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Yeah, And while we're at it, you should take a
- 20:21Speaker 2: lot of detector tests to run for office. And the
- 20:24Speaker 2: first question should be do you love your country? Because
- 20:26Speaker 2: we have people in Congress that don't love our country.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Well, I think Illhan has given us grounds to denaturalize
- 20:32Speaker 1: her and throw her out of the country. Forget the
- 20:34Speaker 1: illegal immigration that she engaged in, but the fact that
- 20:37Speaker 1: she says I'm a Somalian first, that's a violation of
- 20:40Speaker 1: her oath of allegiance to.
- 20:41Speaker 2: This country one hundred percent. I mean we have Muslim
- 20:44Speaker 2: you know, extremists and sympathizers. We have people who bastardize Christianity, right,
- 20:49Speaker 2: you know, they hate our country. They're open about it.
- 20:53Speaker 2: It drives me nuts.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:55Speaker 2: If you thought I said Elon Musk, I love him.
- 20:57Speaker 2: He's got more intelligence and is pinky. My brother is
- 20:59Speaker 2: a well and builds all the space like launching pads
- 21:03Speaker 2: over there. He's very proud. His son's now a welder.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Got no problem with Elon, but ill Hand and some
- 21:09Speaker 2: of these others, Uh, they gotta they gotta go. And
- 21:12Speaker 2: if we get the term limits they'll only be their
- 21:14Speaker 2: eight years and they're out, and that'll keep new blood
- 21:17Speaker 2: constantly coming in. People can learn the system and help
- 21:20Speaker 2: this country not enrich themselves.
- 21:22Speaker 1: It's a it's a topic that we've discussed this week
- 21:25Speaker 1: with Eric Swalwell stepping down and then and then and
- 21:29Speaker 1: then Tony Gonzalez. I believe it is out of Texas
- 21:32Speaker 1: similar type issues of Swallwell earns a master's degree in womanizing.
- 21:37Speaker 1: It would appear, but it drawed. It drew me back
- 21:40Speaker 1: to and kat Camick was one of the few Republicans
- 21:43Speaker 1: that voted to let's let's publicize all of the settlements
- 21:48Speaker 1: of congressmen over the years and uh and what taxpayers
- 21:53Speaker 1: are paying for for these sexual abuse claims being settled.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Let's publicize this. The Republicans didn't want to do it either. Yea,
- 22:02Speaker 1: there are very few that we're willing to do it.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Isn't that part of the morality that you think we
- 22:06Speaker 1: have to bring back one hundred percent in transparency? Yeah?
- 22:09Speaker 2: Now here I am saying this, What if I get
- 22:11Speaker 2: accused of something I didn't do it, you know, I
- 22:14Speaker 2: get it. But this guy clearly did it, and he
- 22:16Speaker 2: went after Kavanaugh and he went after President Trump and it,
- 22:20Speaker 2: I mean, it disgusted me how anybody could be like that.
- 22:24Speaker 1: But when we're taking people's tax dollars to settle a
- 22:27Speaker 1: sexual abuse claim, in my mind, at some point, the
- 22:31Speaker 1: person that is innocent says, I didn't do anything. You
- 22:35Speaker 1: can do whatever you want. Let's go to court, but
- 22:37Speaker 1: you don't settle. That's right, one hundred percent.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and millions has been paid out of that fund.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Yes, I am with kat I forget.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Is she married to a police officer, firefighter?
- 22:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 22:49Speaker 2: I feel like we're a little bit alike because I'm
- 22:50Speaker 2: married to a nurse who's working at the hospital right now.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I feel like we're normal people. But yeah, I agree
- 22:55Speaker 2: with her. I will get behind that. I will support
- 22:57Speaker 2: that one hundred percent.
- 22:59Speaker 1: In the final moments here, I'm gonna go ahead and
- 23:01Speaker 1: bring the low hanging fruit. All right, what do you
- 23:04Speaker 1: think about what we're doing in around.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I've actually been on board to do something like this
- 23:09Speaker 2: for twenty years, right as as a And it isn't
- 23:11Speaker 2: a war, you're right, you know, and it's not Iraq.
- 23:13Speaker 2: You know, everybody calmed down, you know, we have we
- 23:17Speaker 2: had to do what we did, and I know we
- 23:20Speaker 2: were dealing with it with the fuel prices when I
- 23:22Speaker 2: was a high schooler.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Diesel costs less than gas. Now it's way more.
- 23:26Speaker 2: You know, Diesel preps the fields, It plants the fields,
- 23:29Speaker 2: It sprays the fields, It harvests the fields.
- 23:31Speaker 1: It moves it. Diesel moves our country. You know, I
- 23:33Speaker 1: want to, you know, help agriculture, help energy, But we've
- 23:37Speaker 1: got to put up.
- 23:38Speaker 2: With this staying folks. You know, people put up with
- 23:41Speaker 2: four years of World War two. We can deal with
- 23:43Speaker 2: this so our kids and our grandchildren don't get newked.
- 23:47Speaker 2: We have a war on terror for twenty years, and
- 23:49Speaker 2: we never addressed the biggest guy in the fight. The
- 23:52Speaker 2: Iranian bombs crushed us in Iraq, we crushed the Iraqis.
- 23:55Speaker 2: The chech Gi and snipers were tough, but the hardest
- 23:58Speaker 2: enemy was to see in then and the left they
- 24:01Speaker 2: were four Hamas after October seventh. Therefore, Iran, now we
- 24:05Speaker 2: are doing the right thing. We need to stay the course.
- 24:08Speaker 2: We have very intelligent leaders. Reagan proved Russia was a
- 24:12Speaker 2: paper tiger. Trump has proved Venezuela. Hey, look what happened Iran,
- 24:18Speaker 2: Look what happened. There will never be another hitler because
- 24:21Speaker 2: of what we just revealed. We can take you out anytime.
- 24:25Speaker 2: And I can tell you my wife's first cousin. He
- 24:28Speaker 2: fires the air refuelers. Okay, after that one was down.
- 24:31Speaker 2: He knew that pilot and he said they got grounded.
- 24:35Speaker 2: And then they asked for volunteers. Everyone volunteered to go back.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Our military is as sharp as it's ever been. It's
- 24:43Speaker 2: stronger than it's ever been. You know, I don't always
- 24:45Speaker 2: like what Trump says, and I do admit he needs
- 24:47Speaker 2: a little help with humility, but.
- 24:49Speaker 1: He always puts us first.
- 24:50Speaker 2: And I think he's the first president in my lifetime
- 24:52Speaker 2: since I was a little kid.
- 24:53Speaker 1: A Reagan that did that last question. We got less
- 24:57Speaker 1: than a minute. All right, all right, I have made
- 25:00Speaker 1: that we're going to have to create enough space, whether
- 25:03Speaker 1: it's with Israel involved with boots on the ground, We're
- 25:05Speaker 1: going to have to create enough space to allow the
- 25:07Speaker 1: reigning people to arm themselves and to have room to
- 25:12Speaker 1: create a government. Do you see any other way. No,
- 25:15Speaker 1: that's the way. We have to train them. We have
- 25:17Speaker 1: to arm them, and we have to we have to
- 25:18Speaker 1: be willing to put up with chaos. But I've been
- 25:21Speaker 1: telling people for twenty years, including former secretaries of Defense
- 25:24Speaker 1: that I've met because I was wounded. They've always been unstable.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Let's keep them on their back foot and not have
- 25:30Speaker 1: to worry about it here. Yeah, one hundred percent. Good
- 25:33Speaker 1: to have you in. Thank you, brother Preston. It's been
- 25:35Speaker 1: an honor. It's Luke Murphy for Congress dot com And
- 25:40Speaker 1: as I've said to anyone who is running for this seat,
- 25:44Speaker 1: reach out. If you're a viable candidate, we'll make the
- 25:46Speaker 1: time to talk, and as we get closer, we'll talk again. Thanks.
- 25:49Speaker 1: August eighteenth, vote for Luke. Luke Murphy for Congress dot
- 25:53Speaker 1: Com
