Transcript
- 0:00So it's no joke autistic. I want to get bullied just as
- 0:03much as autistic kids. Guys, welcome back to the aspy
- 0:06world. My name is Dan and I have autism
- 0:08and I like weekly videos like this.
- 0:09So if you are interested in coming now, this journey with me
- 0:11and helping people with autism and make sure to hit the
- 0:13subscribe button by clicking the notification bell down below.
- 0:16So it's national bully awareness weekend.
- 0:19There's lots of anti bullying campaigns going around right now
- 0:22which is fantastic and I love that.
- 0:24I think the more empowerment we can get the better.
- 0:26This is why I want to have this conversation.
- 0:28But what should we do? How can we help people who are
- 0:30on the autism spectrum who are getting bullied?
- 0:32How do we help stop bullying from being a thing now?
- 0:36Autistic individuals are vulnerable individuals.
- 0:38They will have issues in social situations, communication, They
- 0:41could be victims of mate crime where someone who pretends to be
- 0:45your friend could steal money or take advantage or abuse you,
- 0:48which is always awfully happening around the world.
- 0:51I see so many cases of it. And now I'm not trying to make
- 0:53this a negative video. I just want to make this a video
- 0:55of how can we help? What can we do to help?
- 0:57All these things happen. And it's kind of like, oh man, I
- 1:00wish we could help. So I'm here to help you guys
- 1:02with this. So the first thing I want to say
- 1:04is that you need to practice raising awareness and foster
- 1:08understanding. So the more awareness we can
- 1:09raise about autistic individuals and their potential
- 1:13vulnerability in society, the better, you know, community
- 1:16members, school leaders and your local governors, all of those
- 1:19people need to be aware of the vulnerabilities of autistic
- 1:22people. And we should be looking out for
- 1:24our autistic friends, neighbors and community members.
- 1:26Let's all educate and empower. If you can create something like
- 1:29maybe a short video or a presentation that you can
- 1:33present it to people. Or you can create something of a
- 1:36what to do if you're being bullied in your school or what
- 1:39you can do if you're being bullied at work.
- 1:41And present this to the classes or the group of people that
- 1:45you're with. Because then they can get
- 1:46themselves empowered of what they need to do if they feel
- 1:48like they're victims of being bullied.
- 1:49Because we all need support. We all need somewhere to go
- 1:52though we have responsibilities, people who are advocating for
- 1:55autism, people who are trying to do our best.
- 1:57This is our job to help other people.
- 1:59So that's what I want to talk about is encourage open
- 2:01communication. A lot of people don't know much
- 2:03about autism, and so they may not even know that autistic
- 2:06people are successful to being bullied, right?
- 2:08And also the other way around, autistic individuals who are
- 2:10being bullied may not know that they can speak out and talk
- 2:13about it because they feel too afraid.
- 2:14Always offer a helping hand and always offer yourself to be that
- 2:17person to open a conversation, open dialogue, explain, educate
- 2:22all the things about autism and how the vulnerability can be
- 2:24subject to bullying and the causes of that.
- 2:27Now guys, did you want to take a moment to thank today's video
- 2:30sponsor, which is Brilia. Now Brilia is a non prescription
- 2:33homeopathic medication that you can take for anxiety, stress,
- 2:38ADHD, that I take for ADHD and it's pretty amazing.
- 2:41It helps reduce things like restlessness, irritability and
- 2:44and improve concentration and enhance clarity.
- 2:47Not Brilliant is super awesome. Again, there's no nasties in it.
- 2:49It's supernatural and they do want for kids and adults.
- 2:53Now if you're thinking I'm trying brilliant, first thing to
- 2:55do is go and consult with your doctor first to make sure it's
- 2:57OK because I recommend that anyway.
- 2:59But also I have a 15% discount for you.
- 3:02So you can use the discount ASB 15 by clicking the link in the
- 3:05description of this video or in my bio by Lincoln Bio, you can
- 3:08get yourself over to brilliant and use the code ASB 15 for 15%
- 3:12off Super awesome. OK, film with the video.
- 3:15So the next thing I'd say to do is if you're in a position of
- 3:18power, say you're in a working environment or a schooling
- 3:20environment, any education environment where adults are
- 3:23present, you know, you can implement an anti bullying
- 3:26policy. You can create more harsh strict
- 3:28rules if it's obvious like they're being bullied.
- 3:29You can create more stricter measures on how a person is
- 3:32disciplined if they're found out to be a bully.
- 3:34Right, Because it sounds ridiculous, but I've known
- 3:37adults from all ages right up until the 60s and 70s getting
- 3:41bullied in working environments if they're a new or spectrum,
- 3:44which is absolutely crazy to me, but it happens and it's
- 3:48something that we need to put a stop to you or it will stamp it
- 3:50out wherever we can. So creating a policy within your
- 3:53working environment or in your social environment or in any
- 3:55networking environment that you're a part of will be so
- 3:58awesome to defer bullying from actually happening.
- 4:01The last thing I will say is support people and help them.
- 4:04Seek professional help. Maybe your person is getting
- 4:06bullied yourself and seek professional help.
- 4:08There are always counselors available or even speak to your
- 4:10doctor, physician, GP, any of those people can help.
- 4:13But if you're an advent and you want to help other people and
- 4:16seek that person of being a support, go to, you know, if you
- 4:19see some vulnerable situation, check in on them, make sure
- 4:22they're OK. Make sure that there's nothing
- 4:24happening in their life that they feel bullied with.
- 4:26Make sure that they are feeling comfortable.
- 4:28Make sure that they're feeling taken care of.
- 4:30It's your duty as a person to take care of other people.
- 4:32So what we do, we're all family here on this planet.
- 4:34We need to take care of each other.
- 4:36Guys, if you have anything to add to this, pop in a comment
- 4:38down below. I will read every single
- 4:39comment, share this video because I think it's important,
- 4:42and give it a thumbs up to help the distribution of this video.
- 4:44You guys, I'll see you in the next one.
- 4:45Thank you so much, peace.
