- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Well, how does that work?
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Where would the camera be?
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: It would be one area and then be a little bit more.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: We talked about chairs, like with little topics.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: A person, a person.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: So it's like wide out.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: So it's like a an angle.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: So like you're you're here, you might be here, and I'm here.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: So then the camera's getting you and me, and then the same on the other side.
- 0:46SPEAKER_04: I already have a vision for what this room's gonna look like.
- 0:48SPEAKER_02: Well, let's get the let's get let's go.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: Chat GPT, which means coming in 2027.

- 0:56SPEAKER_04: Star and I came in here probably six months ago and he said, I want a video.

- 1:03SPEAKER_04: I get it, I go, give me a budget.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: Girl, you're the boss.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: I can't give you a budget.
- 1:09SPEAKER_04: You give me a budget.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: You know, Saturday Night Live used to do this emphasis.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: Watch.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Do you watch podcasts?
- 1:14SPEAKER_04: I don't watch podcasts.
- 1:14SPEAKER_04: Do you want to have time to watch it?
- 1:15SPEAKER_04: I don't.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: I do.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: I don't either.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: I like to I like to see expression.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: But I think you offer it in both.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: I don't think the audio changes.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: It's just also available in video.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: I just don't want to be on the show.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Or if they're like showing you something, you're like, I can't see you.
- 1:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, I think Sean's point probably in in this is the expression of our well I've heard people before say for like She Wigs specifically that they can't they don't know our voices apart.
- 1:45SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:45SPEAKER_04: So seeing what voice goes with who is helpful, but yeah.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: It would be helpful.
- 1:50SPEAKER_04: I think they would know our voices apart.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: Maybe we could shoot for January, our first video podcast.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: I'll give you a budget.
- 1:55SPEAKER_04: Okay, give me a budget.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: I like it.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: We'll make this work.
- 1:59unknown: Anyway.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: All right, here we are, week two in our series be the church.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: And uh anybody have anything good happen this weekend?
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Fun?
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Exciting?
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: You're looking at me.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: My daughter had Sadie Robertson this weekend.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: In Nashville.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Like just on Sadie.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: They were having their um revival at their church, Way Revival.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And so I think I told you guys they have like six services.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Well, so they rented a building, so then all their people were in one building.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: So so she said that was amazing.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: But then the one night was um Sadie Robertson was a speaker.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: And so Addison was volunteering at it a Friday night, and then Saturday she had to work at Bar Taco.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And so she's hostessing and Sadie and her husband.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: They gave it to Bar Taco.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: She's like, Sadie, I love your podcast.
- 2:47SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna say, you know who is just on our podcast?
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: Anna Anna Golden.
- 2:51SPEAKER_04: Oh, is that right?
- 2:52SPEAKER_04: Podcast, which she is was our youth student in at Destiny.
- 2:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:57SPEAKER_04: She's really up and coming.
- 2:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Correct mess.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Yes, that's right.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Anyway, so that was her highlight.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: That's quite the highlight.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: It's very cool.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Her uncle will be here soon.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Yep, get online, get your family fest tickets.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Jace Robinson.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: Uncle Jace.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: Uncle Jace.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: That'll be good.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: What about your weekend?
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: I went to a wedding in Pennsylvania.
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: My nephew got married.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: And I got to go to DC for the first time ever.
- 3:21SPEAKER_04: Which is very cool.
- 3:22SPEAKER_04: First time.
- 3:24SPEAKER_04: First time.
- 3:25SPEAKER_04: And then I saw Gettysburg.
- 3:27SPEAKER_04: We went and toured Gettysburg, which is very cool.
- 3:29SPEAKER_04: So now I'm making Jamie take me back.
- 3:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, good.
- 3:32SPEAKER_04: Because you need more than one, you need more than 12 hours to see.
- 3:35SPEAKER_04: I still had to make it out to Mount Vernon.
- 3:37SPEAKER_04: I haven't done that too much.
- 3:38SPEAKER_04: You did Mount Vernon, right?
- 3:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we had two separate days.
- 3:41SPEAKER_04: And Gettysburg, it was rainy.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: Illinois?
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: I was in Mount Vernon.
- 3:47SPEAKER_04: I was like, uh highly recommend it.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: Get us a good cracker barrel there.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Get on Highway 64 and just drive for a few hours.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: She'll get there.
- 3:54SPEAKER_04: Gettysburg, you can do a car tour and then it gives you like audio at each stop.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's cool.
- 3:59SPEAKER_04: But it was raining, so we don't couldn't get out at each stop.
- 4:02SPEAKER_04: So now I need to go back because then you can get out.
- 4:04SPEAKER_04: Like Was Pennsylvania so green?
- 4:07SPEAKER_04: It was green, which I wish it would have been like three weeks from now because it would be golden browns.
- 4:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: Very green.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: Gosh, I love fall so much.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Except it's 92.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: Except for today.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: This is the last day.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: This is it.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: Friday, it's raining, and then it's going.
- 4:22SPEAKER_04: I hate the rain.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Oh, but it's that rain's bringing cold.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: So all next week.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: And pretty 70s for the cold.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: 72 for the hot.
- 4:29SPEAKER_04: It's not cold.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: That's hot.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: No, that means morning and night.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: It's chilies.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: It was cool this morning.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: It was nice out.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Yesterday it was cold.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: Chilly.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: Chilly.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: It was chilly.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: Today you didn't know actually.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: Today wasn't too bad.
- 4:41SPEAKER_04: I'd have a sweater on.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: We get to we haven't done this in ten years.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: We're going to a festival in Indiana.
- 4:47SPEAKER_04: Babe, we didn't go ten years ago.
- 4:48SPEAKER_04: What kind of festival?
- 4:50SPEAKER_04: When we sold donuts, was ten years ago.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: 2016.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: That's the math.
- 4:56unknown: Yeah.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: What are you doing?
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Time flies.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: It's a festival called Cover Bridge.
- 5:00SPEAKER_02: And it's like three towns.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: And we both separately went as kids with our parents.
- 5:06SPEAKER_04: That you might have.
- 5:07SPEAKER_04: My mom did not invite me to go with her at Cover Bridge.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: I did go.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: I was not invited.
- 5:12SPEAKER_04: So when we got together though, we went when we were married, young when Jake was married.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: I've gotten one ticket my whole life, 1998, and it was in Indiana.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: Also, that is a lie.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: It's not a lie.
- 5:22SPEAKER_04: Jamie Bridges.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, just because you get pulled over doesn't mean you get a ticket.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: Oh, we got a ticket in Omaha.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: We listen.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: I did not get a ticket.
- 5:29SPEAKER_04: You didn't get a ticket.
- 5:30SPEAKER_04: That's the kind of stuff we want to hear on a podcast right here, folks.
- 5:32SPEAKER_04: Classic, you guys.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Talk to us about it.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: We, where'd we go?
- 5:35SPEAKER_04: We probably came home to say.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: We're coming home.
- 5:38SPEAKER_04: And I had, you know, Jamie.
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: We had no kids.
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: We left them here because we were going back and going to the reservation.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: Anyway, go ahead.
- 5:44SPEAKER_04: I think it was when we picked him up.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: Either way, that part doesn't matter.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: Jamie, you know, was known for waking children up in the middle of the night and videotaping them.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:53SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
- 5:53SPEAKER_04: So the boys.
- 5:54SPEAKER_04: Can you get a ticket for that?
- 5:56SPEAKER_04: Today, I you can't do this anymore today.
- 5:59SPEAKER_04: Um, I the guys in our youth group wanted to get him back, but I would never let anyone come in to my house to video.
- 6:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, yes.
- 6:06SPEAKER_04: Except Malia Cassina when she asked me.
- 6:08SPEAKER_04: I love her.
- 6:09SPEAKER_04: But um so they so we used to have like a a van.
- 6:16SPEAKER_04: How would you I would describe it as a kidnapping van, but have more windows than a kidnapping van?
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: It was an astro van.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: Okay, astro van.
- 6:23SPEAKER_04: So that was staying in front of our house, and they asked me if they could take the tires off.
- 6:28SPEAKER_03: What?
- 6:29SPEAKER_03: So that's work.
- 6:31SPEAKER_04: I said, yeah, you could take the tires off.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: Jacked it up.
- 6:33SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 6:34SPEAKER_04: And left it without tires.
- 6:36SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: That's like in the city stuff.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: I wasn't really thinking of it.
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: I drove from St.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: Louis.
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: I'm almost to Omaha, and we get pulled over.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: We got pulled over.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: And there is when I realized I just turned 30.
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: I realized I didn't change my license out.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: So I didn't get a ticket because all I needed to do is renew my license.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 6:53SPEAKER_04: So we're coming home and we turn around the corner.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: And I was like, oh crap.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: So he just gets pulled over.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: In the middle of the night.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: It was early.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: And you pull up and there's no tires.
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: I was like, who took my tires off my van?
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: And I was like, You own that astral van?
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: Let's get it.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Because I was we were bored.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: No.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: She had a brand new van.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: I just bought, we just bought the Nissan Quest.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: That's amazing.
- 7:21SPEAKER_02: And I had I had it for a very short time because I could not do it.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: I liked like we were moving and she was so mad.
- 7:31SPEAKER_04: I just I probably was laughing.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: I think I think I think that month I got my Mustang.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: I I traded in for a mustang.
- 7:37SPEAKER_04: I was like, oh did you say I told the boys they could take the tires off your hands.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: I was like, why?
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: What was the point of it?
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: Did you have to put them back on then?
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: No, they came.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Okay, so that would be the point right there.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: Talk about tough.
- 7:51SPEAKER_04: So it was just bed timing.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was bed timing.
- 7:54SPEAKER_04: He probably would have thought it was funny otherwise.
- 7:56SPEAKER_04: But we had just gotten.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: Well, it's also like two in the morning.
- 7:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was never in the middle of the night.
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: Is it funny?
- 8:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:01SPEAKER_02: So now I'm trying to go to sleep going, I got tires back on.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: Like, oh my gosh.
- 8:07SPEAKER_04: You probably didn't go to sleep, and I probably just walked in and arrived at bed.
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: Ride to sleep, no problem.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Welcome to my marriage, everybody.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: Welcome.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: That is fun.
- 8:15SPEAKER_04: I have no care.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: I was behind a van yesterday and had a bumper sticker.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: It said never say never.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Oh fans.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: I love my minivan.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: People who have them say they love them.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: I I love minivans too.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: I've never had one, but you should get one shot.
- 8:30SPEAKER_04: You look real cool driving around the video.
- 8:31SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna get one right away.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: You sound like a single guy.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: Like, I love being married.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: I'm not, but I would love to be.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: I've never not liked a minivan.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: I'm like, man, if I just my wife's liked minivan.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: They are very practical.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: I mean, they're practical from the you know, the doors just slide open.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: You're not worried about bumping anything.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: Man, this kid ain't knocking into that car.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: Just slide thing open.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: Let me grab it for you.
- 8:56SPEAKER_04: There was a this has been a few months ago.
- 8:58SPEAKER_04: After a Sunday morning, I walked out and there's someone neck parked next to me, and she was like, Is this your van?
- 9:03SPEAKER_04: I was like, Yeah.
- 9:04SPEAKER_04: She's like, I'm so sorry.
- 9:05SPEAKER_04: I was like, She's like, My door hit your mirror and there's a scratch.
- 9:09SPEAKER_04: I was like, girl, I pray every day this van blows away.
- 9:13SPEAKER_04: Like, I do not care if my mirror gets scratched.
- 9:15SPEAKER_04: That's why I still have it.
- 9:17SPEAKER_04: She's got some issues, but she's holding on strong.
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: It's funny, she's a she.
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: Many vans are she's for sure.
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: They can't be a he, they're not tough enough.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 9:28unknown: Yeah.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: All right, how about the text?
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: I think your primary text, correct me if I'm wrong, Luke 9, 23 through 24.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: You launched from there, right?
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: So do you want to read that out loud?
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: Do you have it?
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: Do it.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: If any of you wants then he said to the crowd, if any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Take up your cross daily and follow me.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: If anyone is ashamed of me and my message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in his glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: I don't know how far you went.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Just 24.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: I was like, I don't think this belongs in our what we're talking about.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: No, just twenty-four, but that's all right.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: What an invitation, hey?
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: And so you talked about the invitation this week uh in regards to like uh one of the thoughts was between uh are we just adding Jesus to our life or are we giving our whole life to Jesus?
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: Are we just adding to I didn't even picture that?
- 10:32SPEAKER_02: I I don't know how I didn't say this, but like I saw some people confused when I brought out the blank check, and I quickly realized kids don't know how to write checks.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Did you see Duncan's uh meme?
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: What is it?
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: What else?
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Like kids don't know how to write check.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Where do I what do I put in what blank?
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: Where do I put in what blank?
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Like, what is this paper he's bringing out?
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:54SPEAKER_04: They also don't know how to address envelopes.
- 10:56SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: Or where stamp goes.
- 10:58SPEAKER_04: They don't.
- 11:00SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 11:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: I love this though, because this was something actually I talked about our first small group night.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: And it's just something that I continue to contemplate, and I just find it very um, I just keep thinking about it.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: Just like even in my own life, like knowing about Jesus and consenting to Jesus, like belief, like my mind, like my mental ascent, but my bodily is different.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: And so the language that I learned that I was that I've been using now, and I think we just take it so for granted, like we say, um uh Jesus, uh, Lord Jesus Christ.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: So Lord Jesus Christ is like words we use all the time.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: And it almost sounds like Jody Miller.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Well, Lord Jesus Christ is not a name.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Only Jesus is the name.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Lord Jesus Christ is King Jesus anointed one.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: And so, like, if you are giving your allegiance to a king, it means you have to obey his laws.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: You're in this kingdom, you're a citizen now.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: So if you become a citizen of the United States, you gotta obey those laws.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: This isn't Mexico, this isn't Canada.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: We have different laws.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: So when I like and for for a young person for me, I like mentally assented to Jesus.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: I believe in him, he rose from the dead.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: This is all true, true, true.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: But my allegiance was not to the king.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: My body was doing whatever else it wanted.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: My mental ascent, so it's like matching mind and body to King Jesus.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: According to that you know, obviously you've matured in your faith, grown in your faith.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: Would you would you say that you were a disciple of Jesus Christ with that kind of mentality?
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: I would say I was not.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: Why is that?
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: I would say like this is the what he says in 27.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: Like some of these people, or like when he says that, you know, some people are gonna say, Lord, Lord, I was with you, I was doing those things, and he's like, I don't know you.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, you may be mentally assented to me, you bodily did not submit to King Jesus Christ.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but what he's saying to those people is, have we not prophesied in your name?
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: In your name have we not cast out devils?
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: In your name have we not healed the sick?
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: And he will say, Depart me from me, I don't know you.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: So it's not like So you were talking the talk.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, it's not just talking the talk, you're doing the work, right?
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: You were doing healing.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: Yes, you saw deliverance, and I mean that's why to me Matthew chapter seven is so you know difficult because it's like, man, do we really believe this?
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: Which is why I my I I said up front because I think we believe this as the big C church, that there's two versions of following Jesus.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: One where I follow because I believe him, and one where uh serious people deny themselves and take up their cross daily.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: Those are two different things.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: And I mean, I think we've said this, like I think following Jesus has become so radical on some so many fronts, like trendy kind of thing, or what do you mean when you say radical?
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: I I think I think following the ways of Jesus have have become so radical that it makes it look like it's so extreme because people aren't following him that way.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:21SPEAKER_02: And so now all of a sudden, like, what do you what do you mean you're not sleeping with your girlfriend?
- 14:25SPEAKER_02: Like, that's radical.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: That's radical.
- 14:28SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: Like that's the and and that's why we say things like we've made political things spiritual.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: Like, are we I mean as politicians, we should as politics, we should be talking about policies like roads and tax infrastructure, and we don't talk about that anymore.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: No, we're talking about life issues, moral issues, we're talking about where life begins.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: Can husband and wife be that gender.
- 14:55SPEAKER_02: Those are spiritual biblical principles that we're making political and and getting us off track, right?
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: Because now, you know, gas tax and all all the things that the government should be taking care of from tax money, yeah, but instead we're we're kind of like your word, lording over them these things and talking about spiritual things.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: So it's not that the because I hear this a lot, church has gotten too political.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: I disagree.
- 15:23SPEAKER_02: I think politics have gotten too spiritual.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: That's so good.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: You know, and it's the it it's intertwined.
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: So, but back to my point, like it it does seem that you could be obeying biblical principles and it seems radical.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: Whereas it's like it wasn't 30 years ago, right?
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: Which is why I'm saying we're contending with something different.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: I think 30 years ago we were contending with the people who said, I believe in Jesus, I'm just not following it.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: Now you're you're contending with people going, Not only do I not believe in Jesus, I'm Muslim.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: Or I'm choosing another religion.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Well, and that's why like the switch of, you know, like we used to say, are you a believer?
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: It's like, okay, yeah, well, Satan believes in Jesus.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, are you a follower?
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Well, now I'm like, maybe I want to change it to like, are you a citizen?
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, do you live here?
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Do you operate here?
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: Which is interesting that you you brought that up, like, hey, when you live in this country, you have rules, and every country does, right?
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: We know that.
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, I'm listening to Ray tell me about Noah's responsibility by living in Australia.
- 16:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: And it's like, these are some extreme things that you're asking him to do.
- 16:31SPEAKER_04: He can't make money there for like six months.
- 16:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, what is uh those?
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: Well, like it costs, yeah, it costs money to be a citizen.
- 16:37SPEAKER_02: Like there's an expectation.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 16:39SPEAKER_04: Whereas like, wow, we let people come in and start making money right away.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: But I think like in America, yes, that's unloving.
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: That's sure, that's not nice.
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: But you do anything that we're talking about in another country, you're probably going to prison or going to jail or being deported.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: No questions asked, nobody's protesting you, nobody's doing those things.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: But all of a sudden, here, you know, sure, like, you know, forget ICE, forget these guys who are, you know, forget police, all these things.
- 17:05SPEAKER_02: And it's like, they're not doing anything radical.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: They're just protecting the law that is in place, just like any country would do.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: But because we have this mindset where it's like, no, we're gonna welcome anybody, and here's what welcoming anybody means.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: What Jesus is saying is like, yes, I welcome anybody, but there is a factor.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: Here's what I mean.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: There is a cost.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: This is this is important to know.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: Pick up your cross.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: Yes, pick it up.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: Deny yourself.
- 17:35SPEAKER_02: Now follow me.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: Don't hang on to your life.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: You'll lose it.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: You'll lose it.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: I think that's the other thing, too.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: You know, you talk about, um, and I think you talked about that on s you know in your message, is that um there's lots of things I believe and know, but I don't do them.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: I know diet and exercise is the way to do things.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: I know that, but I don't want to do that.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: You know, so it's just matching those two up when you believe what you're doing consistently, right?
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: And obeying him.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and doing it.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: That's the thing.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: Like we want success, but it's what you do consistently, not occasionally.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: And it's eternity now.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: I think I grew up in a time where I was just thinking about eternity for future.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: So it's kind of that fire insurance mentality.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: That's nothing to do with my life now with Jesus.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: And now I realize that is terrible.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: Do you think that like this this mindset like is because the church, and I don't know this is true.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: I'm just honestly asking a question.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: The church, and maybe this statement's not true, but the church has done a maybe a great job or too good of a job just teaching on grace and not like uh like, you know, salvation is free, there's nothing you can do, come to Christ, but yet then not in return talking about like verses like this in regards to then like how we are called to live out this invitation that's been given to us freely.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think there's two line of thoughts from that.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: Like here, obviously, what Jody just read, he's speaking to a crowd of people that aren't all followers.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: But then you take the other side where Jesus sends out the disciples, sends them out two by two, and then Jesus starts saying things like, Eat of my flesh, drink of my blood, and it says they started walking away.
- 19:18SPEAKER_02: So much that you know, Peter obviously says, you know, when he looks at Peter and like, You guys gonna lead me too?
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: You know, because he's talking to disciples, people who have said, I'm following this guy, and now he's saying hard things, and now they're walking away.
- 19:32SPEAKER_02: And he's going, You guys gonna lead me too?
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: And he says, Where would we go?
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: Only you have the words of eternal life.
- 19:38SPEAKER_02: And he said, Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah, for only the Father could have revealed that to you.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: So he's saying hard things to them, right?
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and people are walking away.
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: So from a success model standpoint, Jesus is saying hard things and they're not it's not sticking.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: Crowds are still coming because we we like the we like the show, right?
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: We're like, hey, that guy I know he used to be blind, he's here, right?
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: You know, I I know that guy used to be dead, you know, dead, demon-possessed, out of his mind.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: Here he is.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: Like, so we can't not say he's he's doing something, but this teaching I don't get, I don't understand.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: So they're walking away.
- 20:18SPEAKER_02: That's where I'm out.
- 20:19SPEAKER_02: And even when the resurrection's happening, we we know this from the two guys walking back to Emmaus.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, I thought this was gonna end different, you know.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: Like, well, let's go home.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: Seven mile journey, let's let's have let's let's go.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: Like uh, that's not how we thought.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: And I think so that's what I think we've done a bad job of as the church, myself included, where when it gets hard, are people leaning in or are they bailing?
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: Because it will get hard.
- 20:45SPEAKER_02: And that's where I think we've missed it.
- 20:47SPEAKER_02: Like when I say up front, like there's a moment where I think we give God the blank check and says, You're gonna fill it because now my life is blessed, and and it's not that it's not blessed, but there's a mindset that says nothing bad's gonna happen to you now.
- 21:02SPEAKER_02: That's what I think people thought, and if it did, then something must be wrong with me.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: And so if I have to drive that or if I have to live this job, or I don't have money, now all of a sudden, God, God, why are you mad at me?
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: And uh that that to me is the crazy thing because Jesus said in this world you're gonna have troubles.
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: Jesus said they're gonna they're gonna hate you because they hated me.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: So I don't know where we're confused, like all of a sudden it's like, why is this happening to me?
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: And uh, I love one of the testimonies during Dream Big was when someone said, like, when I got saved, I was told that I had uh you know I had to give.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: And the first time I gave, someone broke into my car and stole everything.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: And I called the pastor back and said, Well, what are you doing?
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: Like, like I gave, and now all this stuff.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: What what do you think I should do?
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: And the pastor goes, Give more.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: Lean in.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: It's gonna get hard.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: The enemy's fighting you, he wins in the end.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: And I don't know anything else that we do in life where.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: We know, guys, we win in the end that we wouldn't fight.
- 22:04SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 22:04SPEAKER_02: Which is what we'll do to I don't know.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: And I think that's where you know on Wednesday nights, Kelly and I are doing, and Matea and our group are doing stars and scars, where you share, you know, a highlight, a low light, where God has shaped you through something great or something devastating.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: And that's where like we need to hear those scars from each other.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: So if you're not here and I don't hear your story, then I don't realize, like, okay, I don't land like Peter.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: Where else would I go?
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: I saw this person and this is where they landed, and that's who they turned to, and this is where they are now.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: So if we don't know those things, you know, then we're missing out.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: And then we think it is just Pastor Jamie on the stage living his best life.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: You know, you don't hear the other side of it.
- 22:51SPEAKER_02: Well, Peter left everything.
- 22:53SPEAKER_02: He left the nets, he left the family business, and he's following him.
- 22:57SPEAKER_02: Where else would he go?
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: My income's over.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Well, he did go back to fishing when the when the death came.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: Well, and well, and during the denial.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: Jumped out of that boat.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: Do you think that, you know, the individuals you're talking about, that Jesus was talking to the crowd and they're saying, I I did this, I did this, I did this, I did this.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: And then he's like, Well, I don't know who you are.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: Do you think it do you think that they started off knowing and then as they continued in their walk with Christ, they chose to carry on, carry their own life.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: There was things they were not willing to let go of, and then because of that, like there was Does it make sense?
- 23:35SPEAKER_04: I feel like I've heard of it.
- 23:37SPEAKER_04: I mean, I'm totally just raw thoughts.
- 23:40SPEAKER_04: That the gifts come without repentance.
- 23:42SPEAKER_04: Say it again.
- 23:43SPEAKER_04: The gifts come without repentance.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: Meaning your spiritual gifts can be there without in l with even without you repenting, which would make sense to me in my head with that scripture.
- 23:54SPEAKER_04: Why how can I cast out demons in the name of Jesus if Jesus doesn't know who I am?
- 24:00SPEAKER_04: But I mean, because you have you can have sin in your life and still have a spiritual gifts.
- 24:05SPEAKER_02: Well, we we've talked about that.
- 24:06SPEAKER_02: People have had moral failures for 18 years and the church has grown.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say I've heard of people who like have gifts of healing, and then all of a sudden the the crowds come and they're reliant on those gifts for the crowd, so then they start manipulating to maintain the crowd.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: You know, so then their base becomes smaller as they're it's Romans 11, 29.
- 24:29SPEAKER_04: The gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
- 24:33SPEAKER_04: I need some context.
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: Well, let me go find it.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: Well, while she's looking at that, like I do think there's a mindset that happens where yes, I I think up front they're going, Wow, this is incredible.
- 24:47SPEAKER_02: And at some point we make it about something different.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: Whether it's us, or whether it's or about the gifts instead of the gift giver.
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: All those things.
- 24:55SPEAKER_04: So it'll be like First Corinthians, right back to First Corinthians when they're like, You guys love speaking in tongues and you love all your spiritual fancy gifts, but you're far from the Lord.
- 25:05unknown: Yeah.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: Well, and that's how you started out, Pastor Jamie, with that Isaiah.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: That your lips um you honor me with your lips, but your hearts are far from me.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: Like that's the double life.
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: And we can know that our hearts are far from him if we're not putting ourselves underneath the word of God.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: King Jesus.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: King Jesus.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean, practically, like if we're not living underneath the law of God, we're living underneath the law of something else.
- 25:28SPEAKER_02: Like I'm always saying, Yeah, go but I think going back to what you said, who doesn't want Jesus as savior?
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: Everyone.
- 25:35SPEAKER_04: Well, maybe not King.
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: No, but I'm saying Savior.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: If you if you recognize I'm lost and I need something, and this guy died for me while I was still sinning, like that to me is like savior is like I don't know, so I mean it's like someone paying your debt.
- 25:56SPEAKER_02: When you get to the place of going Realizing you have a debt, yes, you're appreciative of it.
- 26:02SPEAKER_02: Making him Lord is different.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: That means he calls us shop.
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: Because you notice this, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied?
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: Hey, say Savior, Savior.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: Well, it's like how many people actually get the benefit that someone blesses them, they get literally out of physical debt, and then five years later they're back in that debt.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: For sure.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: Because they don't they're living still according to old rules, old law, old ways.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: They're not picking up their cross, denying just keeping on till they can get another bailout.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: They're looking for another bailout.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: And I think we treat our savior that way.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: You know, like, oh, I'm in this mess again.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: It's just genie Jesus.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: Well, it's when life gets hard, where do I turn?
- 26:46SPEAKER_02: And then now I'm back.
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: I mean, I can't I cannot tell you the amount of times I see certain people and I know, okay, life is difficult.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: I'll see them in public.
- 26:58SPEAKER_02: Man, it was so good Sunday.
- 27:00SPEAKER_02: This and this.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: This is what we're struggling with.
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: Then I'll see them again.
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: Something bad happens again, you'll see them more.
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: Like it I mean, it's all right.
- 27:12SPEAKER_04: I think people think the church is what's gonna fix them, and the church is not gonna fix you.
- 27:18SPEAKER_04: Correct.
- 27:18SPEAKER_04: Jesus can help you.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: No, it's a check mark.
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna check this off.
- 27:21SPEAKER_04: You have to reorient your life literally around.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: Well, the mindset if I come in that building, it's gonna fall down.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: Tells you everything you need to do.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: It's never happened that one time and tells you everything you need to know though, because that's the mindset that people are carrying.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: Is that if I come in here, uh the walls won't stay up because of how bad I am.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: And it's again, it's just a it's the wrong mindset.
- 27:48SPEAKER_04: Um I don't want to trust Google's translation on Romans 11 29.
- 27:55SPEAKER_04: So maybe I'll do some uh I'll do some logos of research.
- 28:01SPEAKER_04: Okay, perfect.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: I like it.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: What has been the most challenging in regards to your guys' you know, discipleship walk?
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: You know, um what what do you and you know, what do you feel like's been one of the most difficult things for you in regards to picking up your cross, you know, and carrying it?
- 28:22SPEAKER_04: What'd you say?
- 28:23SPEAKER_04: Pride.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: Why you say pride?
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: Pride for sure.
- 28:26SPEAKER_04: Because we humans want to do what humans want to do.
- 28:29SPEAKER_04: And God does not like we can't, as people who follow Christ, we're not allowed to do what we we want to do.
- 28:35SPEAKER_04: We need to do what God wants us to do.
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: So let's see.
- 28:40SPEAKER_04: Let me just give up.
- 28:41SPEAKER_04: I mean I like both of my own.
- 28:42SPEAKER_02: But I like this.
- 28:43SPEAKER_02: I mean, what I said denying yourself is surrendering your will.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: Taking up your cross is accepting the cost that comes with that surrender.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: So, like that statement is like helps us to see the two differences of denying myself every day has to happen before I can carry my cross.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: If I don't deny myself, I'm not picking up the cross.
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: That's key.
- 29:04SPEAKER_04: Did you?
- 29:04SPEAKER_04: I don't, I'm sorry, I did listen to your message, but I my brain can't retain it.
- 29:08SPEAKER_04: We don't want to deny ourselves.
- 29:10SPEAKER_04: We're Americans.
- 29:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:11SPEAKER_04: But did you use Jesus in the garden?
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: Say that again.
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: I said no, my garden.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: I use that.
- 29:17SPEAKER_04: He doesn't want to go to the cross.
- 29:19SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 29:19SPEAKER_04: But he says, Lord, your will be done.
- 29:21SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 29:22SPEAKER_04: He's picking up the cross.
- 29:23SPEAKER_04: Jesus has to crucify his own will for the world.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: And you know what I was thinking actually this morning is right after our text, uh, Luke 9, 23, is the transfiguration.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: So he's heading into Jerusalem, and even Jesus needed encouragement and a pep talk from Moses and Elijah.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: Like I just was like, I thought that was so sweet.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: Like, guess what?
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: I'm bringing some people, they're gonna counsel you, talk to you, like you're about to do this, it's gonna be hard.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: And he needed people around and be like, we don't know what they said.
- 29:58SPEAKER_04: No.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: No, I think you think that you're I think prosperity gospel plays a big role in the thought of they get that first portion of like Jesus paid a price, yet they don't get the second portion that there's also a price for me to pay.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: Not necessarily to like receive salvation, but to walk in my salvation, right?
- 30:17SPEAKER_04: Like kind of deal, you know, and so And we forget that Jesus was poor and Jesus didn't have a place to live, yeah, and he died.
- 30:26SPEAKER_04: He was crucified.
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: All those things.
- 30:28SPEAKER_04: For some reason, we think we should be rich and have a great life, and no one should get sick, and no one should die.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: That doesn't mean there wasn't money coming, because we know that there was.
- 30:37SPEAKER_02: We know that money is happening.
- 30:39SPEAKER_02: Yes, women have a display.
- 30:41SPEAKER_02: Actually, we do know that.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: And we also know Judas was taking care of it, like and he was greedy and and But they had their needs.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: They were literally they were nomads.
- 30:50SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 30:51SPEAKER_04: But we think when we come to Christ, all of our problems will just vanish away.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: We may not think that.
- 30:58SPEAKER_02: I mean, yes, I think there's a big general.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: I'm saying in general.
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: But I think when something happens that you realize like when your blind eyes are literally opened.
- 31:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, you're gonna teach about that tonight.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: Then no one can take that away.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: You know, I was talking to a client yesterday.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: She's actually been to our church a few times, um, but she's Catholic, and um, she's a client, and she was in new age for decades.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, decades.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: And during COVID, she um had a dream uh that the Lord revealed himself to her.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: That's incredible.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: So it's incredible.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: I was like, tell me that story again.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: And she had told me years ago, but I wanted to be reminded of it.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: Anyway, and so because of her life, she had a lot of demonic activity.
- 31:45SPEAKER_00: And when she repented and submitted to King Jesus, she's like, my life got insanely worse.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: Intense.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: The demonic activity fired up.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: And she, but because of that encounter, she just kept pursuing.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: She just kept pursuing.
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 32:07SPEAKER_00: So she calls things um, what do the Catholics call it?
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: Exorcism.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: She's had Oh yeah.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: What did when you say like she repented, like what is that, like, what does that mean?
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: I don't know that we have a church world that like not necessarily LSC, but I think that like we we like to skip that word repent.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: I mean, she realized, and this is what she said, she was like, I realized that everything I had learned was true, that Jesus is God.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: And so that's the thing.
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: Like, I feel like when we make Lord Jesus Christ a name, it doesn't have the sovereignty.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: It doesn't have the category of where, you know, like Jesus is my friend, we're equals.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: We are not equals.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: I am underneath him.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: So when I get those titles and that reverence back in there, I realize who I really am inside of him.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: And I am a sinner who needs saving.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: And so she just realized that all of the things she had been pursuing were actually satanic.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: And so she was on a path to hell.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: This is what she realized.
- 33:14SPEAKER_04: 2 Corinthians 2, chapter 4, verse 4.
- 33:20SPEAKER_04: Satan, who is the God of this world, who I think we forget that, that he does have power in the world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe, and they are unable to see the glorious light of the good news.
- 33:32SPEAKER_04: They don't understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
- 33:36SPEAKER_04: And it's so incredible that Jesus still works today and calms and takes the blind the scales off of the blind eyes.
- 33:45SPEAKER_04: So I love that.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: That's why when someone says, like, I have a question about sin, or you know, I have I'm struggling in this sin.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: First thing I say is who am I talking to?
- 33:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: Am I talking to a believer?
- 33:58SPEAKER_02: Someone who believes this, someone who's following Jesus, or are you an unbeliever doing what unbelievers do?
- 34:05SPEAKER_02: Well, obviously, if we're having a conversation, you know, I think somewhat there's an interest level at least for that individual to want truth spoken to them, or they wouldn't be asking.
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: But I think that's an important question of who am I talking to right now?
- 34:22SPEAKER_02: Like, do you identify yourself as a follower of Jesus?
- 34:26SPEAKER_02: Because then it's this.
- 34:27SPEAKER_02: If you're saying I'm not, but I desire to be, now we can have a conversation.
- 34:32SPEAKER_02: I think, I think we need to be, you know, especially in relationships with people.
- 34:38SPEAKER_02: If you're in a relationship with someone, you've seen them, you've seen the fruit, you've seen them serving, and they're coming to you going, Hey, I'm doing this.
- 34:45SPEAKER_02: You're gonna go, come on, dude, you know better than this.
- 34:48SPEAKER_02: You know that that's not something you should be doing.
- 34:51SPEAKER_00: But you gotta know your audience.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: You gotta know that, for sure.
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: I was thinking of your last podcast, I think it was on the podcast for Pastor Jamie, or was it on Sunday where you said you hear sorry, but it's your words, not hers.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: You're like, I say sorry all the time.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: It was a couple weeks ago.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: Was that a couple weeks ago?
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: Well, that's repent.
- 35:11SPEAKER_00: Like, no one wants to say, I'm sorry.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: You're right.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: I'm wrong.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: The way I've been doing this is wrong.
- 35:18SPEAKER_04: That is like instilled in us too, as like that's it.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: That's a toddler.
- 35:23SPEAKER_04: Like, yeah, yeah.
- 35:24SPEAKER_04: Cause if you have a toddler or a young kid and you're like, you have to say sorry, and they just stand there.
- 35:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they won't even open their mouth.
- 35:30SPEAKER_04: Like, I'm not saying sorry.
- 35:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, you said that.
- 35:31SPEAKER_04: You talked about born in the title.
- 35:33SPEAKER_04: But it's like I've seen that a lot.
- 35:35SPEAKER_04: Oh my kids.
- 35:36SPEAKER_04: Like, they don't want to say sorry.
- 35:37SPEAKER_04: They don't want to say sorry.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: I remember when Nathaniel, I don't remember how old he was, but I remember he was five, four, cute, awesome little toddler.
- 35:46SPEAKER_01: That was he your favorite then?
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was my favorite then.
- 35:49SPEAKER_01: And so uh, you know, and I remember like he would like immediately listen to Shelly, and he would not meet and it was bothering me, and I'm like, what in the world?
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: And she and she said to me, Sean, you see him as cute.
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: I understand that he has sin and there's a difference.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: Oh wow Shelly is so wise.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, but it's awfully cute, you know?
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: No, that's it.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: But you can listen to me.
- 36:13SPEAKER_01: I I'm not you know, when you hang out cute, I see.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: I see sin, which obviously he's a cute little kid, but there's sin there.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: Like it's a cute little package, but he is a sinner at the age of five.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: And I need to help him understand that.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: You know?
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: But then we wonder why we have teenagers, right?
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: We now see their sin and it's not cute.
- 36:31SPEAKER_04: You know why?
- 36:31SPEAKER_04: Because we've got four and five.
- 36:32SPEAKER_04: Because we did not do that.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: Oh my goodness.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: So I remember when I had terrible thirteen-year-olds.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: So I had to deny myself and call them a sinner.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: Literally, obviously.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: But and so, but so true.
- 36:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: Because you don't really want to discipline a little three or four-year-old because they're so cute, but you have to change the phone.
- 36:52SPEAKER_01: But it's training.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: It's the when the Bible says train up your kids in such a way that when they get old enough, they will not depart from it.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: It's training.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: And if I'm not training them when they get older, they're gonna depart, and whose fault it is at that point.
- 37:02SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: I have something to play in that.
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: And so, anyways, but yeah, so it's good.
- 37:07SPEAKER_01: But I yeah.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: I I think that I think even in my relationship with my wife, like, you know, obviously, you know, uh I have a uh we have a great marriage most of the time.
- 37:15SPEAKER_04: And so I hope she has nothing to do with it.
- 37:18SPEAKER_01: I have a great marriage most of the time.
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: All the time.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: And uh all the time.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: And so, but at the same time, whenever we're in conflict, I have to remind myself it's never, Shelly, you could work on this better.
- 37:28unknown: Oh, yeah.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: It's always Sean's gonna repent, Sean's gonna find out where he needs to change some things.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: Sean's gonna confess his sin.
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: He's gonna acknowledge it, and he's gonna move forward.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: Well, because you're only in charge of you.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: I'm only in charge of me.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: And that's true when I'm five or you know what I mean, whatever, when I'm a teenager, when I'm married, like you know what I mean?
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: Like I think a lot of times we like to, we like to come up with a solution.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna fix this, or even we go to, hey God, I have a better idea.
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: No, no, no, that's not your that's not what we're doing.
- 37:54SPEAKER_04: Do you know how many times I I do say I say this jokingly, but I have said many times, God, I could have figured that out better.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: And he's like, yeah.
- 38:00SPEAKER_04: Like that was your plan, really.
- 38:01SPEAKER_04: I could have figured that out better.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: And then he said, like, well, if you would obey like four years ago, we wouldn't even Yeah.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: You know, and so but back to your question, like as far as discipleship, what has been difficult or to take up your cross?
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: I'm dealing with again um Sabbath keeping.
- 38:18unknown: I know.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: Well, this is surprising coming from that.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: No, it is surprising because you like to say yes and fill your calendar.
- 38:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and so I just was convicted again, and it's like the Lord can run the earth without you.
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: So this is my next challenge for myself.
- 38:35SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna try it this week.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: Is 24 hours, no phone.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: No phone, 24 hours.
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: She's just getting the new one, two phones.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: I'm confused.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: I know, and I'm dropping.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: Jody, are you you think that's gonna be a challenge for you?
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: 24 hours?
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: I'm just kidding.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: Well, that's a lot of things.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: I like what's in calls or like, you know, like well, not even that.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: It's just like volunteers and like making sure we're set and making sure everybody knows what's happening, and you know, just like all the pieces.
- 38:59SPEAKER_02: I'm doing seven days.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: You're doing seven days without a phone?
- 39:02SPEAKER_02: I was just kidding.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, I've done it, you know, but I want to do it regularly.
- 39:06SPEAKER_00: And so I just was really convicted again.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: Like, what is your managing things really doing except making you so stressed out?
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: So can you relinquish 24 hours and just like rest and let me be God?
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: And so I'm like, sounds really nice.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: Does that sound nice?
- 39:27SPEAKER_04: You have to like go camping where there's no internet.
- 39:30SPEAKER_04: No, where there's no internet.
- 39:32SPEAKER_04: Or take a jobie.
- 39:33SPEAKER_04: That's what I challenge to you is go camping.
- 39:35SPEAKER_04: You can go camper, you can't.
- 39:41SPEAKER_04: You cannot have the Wi-Fi.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: It's yeah, it's glorious.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: Well, that's what I used to love about traveling overseas.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: Like no internet there.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: You know, but now it's everywhere.
- 39:51SPEAKER_00: Anyway, that's more challenging.
- 39:53SPEAKER_01: What about for you?
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: That's good.
- 39:55SPEAKER_01: Um what's the question?
- 39:57SPEAKER_01: Decidable.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: Looking at my cross.
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: Um I'm sure there's many things I come up with the questions I usually don't have answers for.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, um that's a good one.
- 40:16SPEAKER_04: I I think my one of my challenges is uh keeping my quiet time.
- 40:20SPEAKER_04: Quiet time with the Bible.
- 40:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:22SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 40:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:24SPEAKER_04: Just sitting there looking at your garden.
- 40:25SPEAKER_04: Or my phone.
- 40:26SPEAKER_04: You know, like I love to sit out on my front porch and I have to be very disciplined to open the word first because you I can scroll what's new at Walmart for an hour and not even realize an hour's past.
- 40:38SPEAKER_04: You know, I'm like, it's not like bad things.
- 40:40SPEAKER_04: I'm not looking at bad content, but it's still just wasting time.
- 40:45SPEAKER_02: Good things, god things.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: I mean, and there's no way, there's no way possible that you can be a disciple of Jesus Christ and not open up your Bible consistently.
- 40:52SPEAKER_04: Well that's why I was gonna ask Jamie.
- 40:53SPEAKER_04: There's I think you're gonna say yes, this, but when you say to someone, Are you a believer, there's a difference between a believer and a follower.
- 41:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:01SPEAKER_02: There's a big difference between a believer and but if they can't acknowledge either one.
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: Like the you need them to acknowledge a starting place.
- 41:11SPEAKER_02: Like, are you following Jesus?
- 41:13SPEAKER_02: Well, that's my desire.
- 41:14SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 41:14SPEAKER_02: Now let's have a look at the book.
- 41:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's what I was saying.
- 41:16SPEAKER_04: Like, we might need to reassess our ourselves on am I actually following Jesus?
- 41:21SPEAKER_02: Well, and that's why this like follower fan is that book Sunday, like I'm most excited about because it's I'm really talking about contending for the faith.
- 41:30SPEAKER_02: And then to contend for the faith, you have to know what you believe.
- 41:33SPEAKER_02: Because you can't do what 1 Peter 3 says, where you you give as a believer, he says, if someone asks you about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.
- 41:44unknown: Yeah.
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: I can't that's how I know whether I'm a believer.
- 41:47SPEAKER_02: If I can't explain it, then I'm not then I gotta question what I believe.
- 41:52SPEAKER_02: If I said, Jody, you're you're an expert in this, and I came to you and said, Jody, I don't I don't know what to do here, and you're like, I don't know either.
- 42:00SPEAKER_04: Put your sunscreen on every day.
- 42:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:02SPEAKER_04: This is like my mom right now with football.
- 42:05SPEAKER_04: What?
- 42:05SPEAKER_04: Shh for whatever my mom decides she's a Kansas City Chiefs fan because Taylor Swift's every Sunday.
- 42:10SPEAKER_04: This how it's happened over the course of a few years.
- 42:13SPEAKER_04: But I'm like, mom.
- 42:14SPEAKER_04: Do you know the game?
- 42:15SPEAKER_04: Tell me one rule in football.
- 42:16SPEAKER_04: Just one.
- 42:17SPEAKER_04: Tell me one.
- 42:17SPEAKER_04: Oh, she's a fan, not a follower.
- 42:19SPEAKER_04: She's a fan, she's not a follower.
- 42:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:22SPEAKER_02: I think there's I think the church is made up and always will be.
- 42:25SPEAKER_02: Like, this is not like going away.
- 42:28SPEAKER_02: This is what we're contending for as leaders to create and to make disciples, as Jesus said, is we're always contending with that mindset.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: I'm a fan of Jesus.
- 42:39SPEAKER_02: I'm not a follower.
- 42:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:41SPEAKER_02: And so it's I I I'm a fan of him saving the world.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: I'm a fan of you know, I'm a fan of him being kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.
- 42:49SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 42:49SPEAKER_02: I'm a find I'm I'm a fan of his kindness for sure.
- 42:52SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm a fan of his grace that he extends.
- 42:55SPEAKER_02: I'm a fan of even the workers in the fields, man.
- 42:58SPEAKER_02: I'm a fan of that.
- 42:59SPEAKER_02: Like uh man, I'm showing up at three and I'm getting paid the same as the guy showed up at you know six.
- 43:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm a fan of it, but I don't follow it.
- 43:08SPEAKER_04: And that's because you know why we're when we're not fans, is like uh the Old Testament.
- 43:13SPEAKER_04: Why do all the people have to die?
- 43:14SPEAKER_04: Or like when we don't understand things, that's when you know if you're a fan or follower.
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: Because if you're a follower, you know the heart of God and you can't do it.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: And the things get bad or hard and I ditch.
- 43:23SPEAKER_02: That's when I find out.
- 43:24SPEAKER_02: I find out when iron sharpens iron.
- 43:26SPEAKER_02: I mean, I've been really studying that passage, especially for Friday mornings.
- 43:30SPEAKER_02: It's like, guys, you know the friction of iron sharpening iron.
- 43:34SPEAKER_02: It's not only heat, it's like this is painful.
- 43:37SPEAKER_02: This is iron, like sparks are flying.
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: It's not iron sharpening, you know, cotton, you know, or something soft.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: It's iron sharpening iron.
- 43:47SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of friction, there's a lot of contention, there's a lot of it's uncomfortable to be able to look at another brother and go, dude, are you sitting right now?
- 43:56SPEAKER_02: What are you looking at?
- 43:57SPEAKER_02: Like there's you instantly have friction.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: Because if I'm defending myself, I'm going, no, no, no, no, no, not me.
- 44:03SPEAKER_02: Like, and what is that hitting?
- 44:05SPEAKER_02: It's hitting a pride side of, and this is refusal to go, no, if we're continuing, we're contending, not just in great times, but when when it gets hard and there's questions.
- 44:14SPEAKER_02: So, like, even going back to what I said to you, like to me as a follower, I'm not saying you have to owe know everything, but like if you're saying, Jody, like, hey, you're an expert in this area, you going, I don't know that, but I'm gonna find out because I believe in what you're saying.
- 44:29SPEAKER_02: That's different.
- 44:31SPEAKER_02: It's not saying you have to have all the answers, but you better be able to explain why you believe what you believe.
- 44:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, why you're living the way you're living.
- 44:37SPEAKER_02: And it's what you're saying about the girl.
- 44:38SPEAKER_02: Like, man, I had an encounter, like like scales came off my eyes.
- 44:43SPEAKER_02: I mean, I still always picture, man, I would love to get this reenacted of Paul knocking on the door to the disciples and them opening the door and be like, uh, what that you guys I think Paul is at the front door.
- 44:57SPEAKER_04: They probably literally wet themselves.
- 44:59SPEAKER_04: Here we go.
- 44:59SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean, I'm just saying, like, he's dragging us out.
- 45:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's here to arrest people to arrest people.
- 45:04SPEAKER_02: Listen, I've had an encounter with Jesus, and my you know, scales have fallen from my eye.
- 45:09SPEAKER_04: I mean, do you think I would I would almost imagine his face had to look differently?
- 45:13SPEAKER_01: Can you give me a modern day equivalent to what that would look like today?
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: Modern day, so we can really grasp it in our own.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: We'd have to be like bin Laden walking in and knocking on our door.
- 45:22SPEAKER_02: I would have had to experience that, right?
- 45:23SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 45:24SPEAKER_02: Like, you know what I mean?
- 45:24SPEAKER_02: So like I might have heard of that.
- 45:26SPEAKER_02: My friends would have to die.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: Like people talk about celebrities all the time, and we're always like, but we're from a distance.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: We don't we don't know.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: Like, and that's why like when I listen to stories of Judah Smith or someone like that who's had like I you've had a first hand account.
- 45:40SPEAKER_02: I can't, I can't sit here and go you you did or you didn't.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: Only you know that.
- 45:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:45SPEAKER_02: I mean, it would be the equivalent for me.
- 45:47SPEAKER_02: Like, I I mean, there's been several people that I've seen go from one to the other where I'm like, It doesn't mean they're perfect and doesn't mean they're not, but like I've seen life change and I've seen this sanctification process happening in their lives that five years down the road, you're like, they're a totally different person than five years ago.
- 46:07SPEAKER_02: Like, we can see those things that I think are equivalent.
- 46:11SPEAKER_02: It's just Paul was such a figure in the religious community to see him now follow Jesus when there is a great persecution happening and he's now a part of it, and now they're experiencing him come to that.
- 46:27SPEAKER_02: Paul instantly had weight to go, guys, I'm the worst of the worst.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh absolutely.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: But look what Christ has done.
- 46:34SPEAKER_02: I mean, the the platform, and I'm sure there are people like, oh, Paul's misusing his platform, like he, you know, and still some of them are like, I'd rather have a police anyway.
- 46:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like he's a little better communicator.
- 46:45SPEAKER_02: Paul's short, fat, ugly.
- 46:49SPEAKER_00: Fat might have not been in there.
- 46:50SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: I think it's hard to be thin when you're short.
- 46:55SPEAKER_02: Easy, easy.
- 46:56SPEAKER_02: Holy shit.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: We need to cut that out.
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: We need to cut that out.
- 47:01SPEAKER_02: She looked if you good thing the camera's harmless.
- 47:04SPEAKER_02: She looked directly at me.
- 47:06SPEAKER_02: She said, You she looked right at me.
- 47:13SPEAKER_02: She pointed a finger and said, Jody, it's you so red.
- 47:17SPEAKER_02: It's hard.
- 47:18SPEAKER_02: It's hard to be.
- 47:19SPEAKER_02: I mean, both fingers came up at one point.
- 47:22SPEAKER_02: It's hard to be skinny when you're so short.
- 47:27SPEAKER_02: Right, Pastor Jamie?
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness.
- 47:31SPEAKER_00: That's not what's happening in here.
- 47:34SPEAKER_03: That is so funny.
- 47:35SPEAKER_00: What I was gonna say is um fix it, Jimmy.
- 47:37SPEAKER_00: Fix it quick.
- 47:39SPEAKER_00: You know, the cost in like knowing what you believe is that people like we can on, and I'm not on Instagram, but I see people all the time.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: They're like, on Instagram and the show, you're like, I believe this.
- 47:51SPEAKER_00: Or then they get a news story and they're like, I believe this.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: And like your mom, they don't know anything about it.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: And so then they say, I believe in Jesus, but they aren't willing to take the cost to take pay the price doing it themselves to look for themselves and to study and to know.
- 48:06SPEAKER_00: I was just talking to Addison last night and she's leading a small group and she, you know, she wants it to be successful.
- 48:12SPEAKER_00: And so she's like, Mom, I like spent so much time studying and preparing.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: And she's like, the group, it was went great.
- 48:19SPEAKER_00: And I said, Babe, that is what preparation does.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: It frees you up so then you feel secure and you're operating.
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: And a lot of us feel like we're kind of false followers because we aren't haven't done the time, and we're like, we can't have anybody press us too hard or they'll find out what we don't want to do.
- 48:36SPEAKER_02: When was the last time you read your Bible?
- 48:38SPEAKER_02: Uh well, it's been a long time.
- 48:40SPEAKER_02: Well, dude, of course you don't have the answer.
- 48:42SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 48:42SPEAKER_02: Well, this is why, like I I think we believe opinions or an Instagram post, it's easy to just because all these things, when when Jesus says, and this is a main passage, make them holy by your truth.
- 48:58SPEAKER_02: Teach them your word, which is truth.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: Like to me, going back to what Pastor Sean just said, when you say, dude, I follow, that's my next question.
- 49:08SPEAKER_02: Okay, how much time are you spending in the word?
- 49:10SPEAKER_02: Oh, I don't I don't read the Bible.
- 49:12SPEAKER_02: You're not a believer, dude.
- 49:13SPEAKER_04: You're not following.
- 49:14SPEAKER_02: You're not following him.
- 49:15SPEAKER_04: You can be a believer, you're not following.
- 49:17SPEAKER_02: You might believe I don't know what you believe, actually.
- 49:19SPEAKER_02: I mean, if you're saying I don't read the Bible, but I'm a believer, what are you believing?
- 49:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, coming to the club.
- 49:25SPEAKER_02: What are you believing?
- 49:26SPEAKER_02: You're believing uh you know, bits and pieces that fit your life.
- 49:30SPEAKER_02: And I think that's the biggest thing.
- 49:32SPEAKER_02: We've invented a Jesus that we're now following that may not be Jesus, Lord Jesus Christ, right?
- 49:40SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 49:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and so we've we've made this version of Jesus.
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: That's the scariest part for me.
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: And I think that's who's hearing, Lord, Lord.
- 49:50SPEAKER_02: Have I not done these things?
- 49:51SPEAKER_02: I agree.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: That's good.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: Good chat, kids.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: Good chat.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: I like it.
- 49:59SPEAKER_01: Thanks, Dad.
- 50:00SPEAKER_01: You're welcome.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: Sinner.
- 50:03SPEAKER_00: So Sean, you should pray for us today.
- 50:05SPEAKER_00: All right, I'll pray.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: Look at that.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, all right, here we go.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: Lord, we thank you so much for um just the conversation that you have us in as a church, uh, how how you've called us, how you've asked us, what it looks like to be the church, to be not just a fan, but a follower, uh a disciple of Jesus Christ.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: And so, God, we ask that you would uh continue to guide and lead and direct us.
- 50:27SPEAKER_01: And uh maybe for some of us um that are listening, you know, the first step is just I'm gonna find a consistent time every day just to open up the word of God and read it.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: Uh just read it and then allow the Holy Spirit to do his job, you know, throughout the day.
- 50:42SPEAKER_01: And so I pray be with us uh that you'd help us to just uh submit and surrender our our lives to you that you wouldn't be just uh a name, uh, but it would be something that we lived out in our lives.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: Amen.
