- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to KFI AM 640, the Bill Handel Show
- 0:04Speaker 1: on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
- 0:14Speaker 2: And the big issue is Strait of Hormuz.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Saudi Arabia was the big one, insisted the Strait of
- 0:19Speaker 3: Hormuz stay open as an international, free international waterway. Iran said, no, no,
- 0:25Speaker 3: we want to make it a toll booth. And that
- 0:28Speaker 3: is a real crinkle, winkle, winkle, wrinkle. There you go.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I know.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Mr.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Professional Broadcaster, thank you very much.
- 0:39Speaker 4: And now, Handel on the News.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, here's Bill Handel.
- 0:59Speaker 3: KFI AM 640. Good morning, everybody. Handel here on a
- 1:06Speaker 3: Thursday morning, September 24th. My last day before.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Ever? Yeah, forever. Yeah, I'm going to kill myself today.
- 1:14Speaker 2: You actually look pretty good. Yeah, I know.
- 1:16Speaker 3: I know. Very depressed, you know, realizing how long I've
- 1:18Speaker 3: been on this show and going, wait a minute, what
- 1:20Speaker 3: are you doing with your life?
- 1:22Speaker 2: So anyway, today I leave for... Today, I leave for vacation.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Very excited.
- 1:30Speaker 5: You're flying out today?
- 1:31Speaker 3: Yeah. Nice.
- 1:32Speaker 5: For your 16-hour flight?
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Can't wait, which is why God invented sleeping pills. I'm
- 1:39Speaker 3: going to be taking them like Skittles. I'm going to
- 1:42Speaker 3: be throwing them in my mouth handfuls at a time.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Don't you just sleep?
- 1:47Speaker 2: Not without sleeping aids, no.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Wow. Yeah.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Good for you.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yeah, good for me. So anyway, wrong flight. Just what
- 1:55Speaker 3: I want to do is, yeah, I want to go
- 1:58Speaker 3: on an Arab airplane with a bunch of Arab crew
- 2:02Speaker 3: and really downplay the fact that I am not Arab.
- 2:08Speaker 6: Yeah, it's fun when you go on an Arab plane
- 2:11Speaker 6: with Bill because he's like, praise Jesus.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah. No, praise Allah. Praise Allah. Yes, I
- 2:18Speaker 2: am Allah. You know, I've always said that if... You know,
- 2:23Speaker 2: I have two passports. You know, I'm a Brazilian citizen
- 2:26Speaker 2: as well as a U.S. citizen.
- 2:28Speaker 3: And I've often said that whoever I'm with, if terrorists come,
- 2:32Speaker 3: you know, terrorists come, if you have an American passport,
- 2:34Speaker 3: you're screwed. anywhere in the world because the people that
- 2:38Speaker 3: hijack airplanes, of course, are Arabs. Oh my God, am
- 2:41Speaker 3: I putting Arabs all in one using a big broad brush?
- 2:44Speaker 2: Yes, I am. Thank you very much.
- 2:46Speaker 3: In the meantime, I've always said that whoever I'm with
- 2:51Speaker 3: come out with an American, they have an American passport.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I said, here's my Brazilian passport. And in Portuguese, I say,
- 2:56Speaker 3: I have no idea who this person is beside me. None.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Okay. And that includes my wife. All right. Anyway, good morning, Neil.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And there's Amy. Good morning. Hello. Good morning. And Kono
- 3:09Speaker 2: is on jury duty.
- 3:14Speaker 4: He is.
- 3:16Speaker 3: So we have Mario the Mexican who is in with
- 3:20Speaker 3: us for the next, we have no idea how long.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Weird last name, the most un-Mexican last name. Mario, what
- 3:28Speaker 3: is your last name again?
- 3:28Speaker 4: Arbizu.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Arbizu.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Doesn't that sound like maybe Iranian or Armenian or something?
- 3:34Speaker 4: That's where Arby's get its meat.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Arbizu. That's very funny. Arbizu.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Does your mother have hairy arms and a mustache?
- 3:42Speaker 2: Absolutely not. Okay. Okay.
- 3:46Speaker 3: See, that's what I thought would be happening.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Okay. What else is going on? Oh, tomorrow you guys
- 3:51Speaker 2: go over the hedge.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Yes, we do.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yes, and it is.
- 3:55Speaker 3: And we're getting close to, hopefully getting close to the donation,
- 4:00Speaker 3: the level you wanted, right?
- 4:03Speaker 5: We're actually quite, we're doing great, but we're actually quite
- 4:08Speaker 5: away from the goal.
- 4:10Speaker 3: You know, you sound like the president when the administration
- 4:15Speaker 3: is accused of really using all of its arms and
- 4:20Speaker 3: the deterioration of the number of missiles.
- 4:25Speaker 2: We have more than we know what to do with.
- 4:27Speaker 2: We're doing great.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Right. We're knocking on the door of halfway there.
- 4:32Speaker 6: But they did up it this year because... KFI listeners
- 4:37Speaker 6: are incredibly generous.
- 4:38Speaker 2: They are. No, that's true.
- 4:39Speaker 4: We'll talk about it tomorrow.
- 4:41Speaker 6: And we believe that we will get very close. But
- 4:45Speaker 6: the listeners have gone above and beyond already. Zero complaints.
- 4:49Speaker 6: They're incredibly generous.
- 4:51Speaker 3: So obviously there are some people that did donate last
- 4:54Speaker 3: year that are not donating this year. And we know
- 5:03Speaker 3: that all of your money has been going to gasoline.
- 5:08Speaker 2: So there are some alternatives.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Walk to work so you have a little bit of
- 5:13Speaker 3: extra money that you can donate. Don't buy any food,
- 5:17Speaker 3: not for a while either. Certainly don't buy meat because
- 5:21Speaker 3: that's out of control.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Who needs GOP ones when we have gas prices at $ 6.
- 5:25Speaker 4: 50 a gallon?
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's going up. It's literally going up by the
- 5:31Speaker 2: day now.
- 5:33Speaker 3: What, it's gone up by 40 cents in the last
- 5:35Speaker 3: week or something?
- 5:36Speaker 2: Something completely crazy?
- 5:38Speaker 6: That's why they have those digital boards now that just
- 5:40Speaker 6: keep ticking up.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Do you remember seeing the guys with those long poles?
- 5:46Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. Switching out the plastic numbers.
- 5:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Oh, man. So much going on today. All right. You
- 5:52Speaker 2: want to do some news? Why not?
- 5:55Speaker 3: And a couple of things that should have happened that
- 5:58Speaker 3: did happen.
- 5:59Speaker 2: And let's do it.
- 6:00Speaker 3: It's time for handle on the news with Amy and
- 6:03Speaker 3: Neil and me and lead story, the appeal or the
- 6:07Speaker 3: emotion that was put in front of him.
- 6:10Speaker 2: It's a federal judge. And he was put in a
- 6:13Speaker 2: place by Trump. He's a Trump appointee.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Anyway, as we know, CNN, MSNOW, and Politico had their
- 6:20Speaker 3: ability to go to the White House. Even White House
- 6:23Speaker 3: grounds yanked, could not cover the White House anymore. And,
- 6:26Speaker 3: of course, they immediately filed a motion, the three news organizations,
- 6:32Speaker 3: arguing that the ban was unconstitutional. One constitutional argument, the
- 6:38Speaker 3: other one a practical argument. The constitutional argument is First Amendment,
- 6:42Speaker 3: that the White House cannot deny politicians or cannot deny
- 6:46Speaker 3: news outlets just deny their access because they have a
- 6:54Speaker 3: right and we have a right to know what's going on.
- 6:57Speaker 3: And the argument that the Trump administration had, there was
- 7:00Speaker 3: two arguments they had. Number one, since we describe the
- 7:06Speaker 3: blocking of those news outlets as based on national security
- 7:12Speaker 3: because of whatever leaks they had. And Trump had to
- 7:16Speaker 3: come up with national security reasons, which are ludicrous. Because
- 7:21Speaker 3: basically what the administration said is national security is anything
- 7:25Speaker 3: the president says is national security. Logic or no logic,
- 7:28Speaker 3: he determines what national security is. So what nailed him
- 7:33Speaker 3: on a practical matter was he came up with national
- 7:37Speaker 3: security after the fact. He said when he denied access,
- 7:41Speaker 3: I'm throwing them out because I don't like their coverage.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Because it's fake news. Whatever negative is said about me
- 7:49Speaker 3: is fake news. And therefore, because of national security, anything
- 7:55Speaker 3: that the media writes against him, therefore breaches national security.
- 8:00Speaker 3: And so he said at first, it's because I hate them.
- 8:04Speaker 3: And then two weeks later, oh, it's because of national security.
- 8:07Speaker 3: The judge nailed him on that. Don't be stupid. And
- 8:10Speaker 3: then the First Amendment, which is far, far greater. And
- 8:14Speaker 3: that is, does the president have the right to stop
- 8:19Speaker 3: news gathering and news reporting based on what he considers
- 8:23Speaker 3: national security? And the court said, absolutely, he doesn't. Now,
- 8:25Speaker 3: there are times when there is national security, and there
- 8:28Speaker 3: have been. For example, during the Kennedy years, are you
- 8:33Speaker 3: aware that the Bay of Pigs— And what happened during
- 8:38Speaker 3: the October the October almost wars in 1962 that the
- 8:45Speaker 3: news was about to break and the president called the
- 8:48Speaker 3: news organization, said, hold off for a couple of days
- 8:51Speaker 3: because of national security. We cannot let this out this early.
- 8:55Speaker 3: And all the news organizations said, yes, that's national security
- 8:59Speaker 3: or holding on to state secrets.
- 9:01Speaker 2: National security is not.
- 9:03Speaker 4: You know what?
- 9:04Speaker 2: I don't like the coverage.
- 9:05Speaker 3: And if they leak, this had to do with the
- 9:08Speaker 3: leak of the Qatari airplane that was not being flown
- 9:11Speaker 3: back from Turkey because of security concerns. Anyway, so much
- 9:16Speaker 3: for that. We're going to be doing a lot more
- 9:19Speaker 3: at seven o'clock. I spent a lot of time doing that,
- 9:22Speaker 3: didn't I?
- 9:22Speaker 4: All right.
- 9:23Speaker 5: A lot to unpack.
- 9:25Speaker 4: You okay, buddy?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Yeah, there is a ton to unpack. That's true. Okay,
- 9:28Speaker 2: moving on.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Trump on the tarmac. President Xi Jinping arrived in Washington, D.C.
- 9:34Speaker 5: yesterday at Joint Base Andrews and was greeted by President
- 9:40Speaker 5: Trump and the First Lady, which was rather unusual because
- 9:43Speaker 5: it's a rare plain-side greeting. They rolled out a 100-foot-long
- 9:48Speaker 5: red carpet at the bottom of the staircase. A 21-person
- 9:52Speaker 5: honor guard was On each side of the carpet, Trump
- 9:57Speaker 5: and First Lady Melania stood near the staircase on the
- 9:59Speaker 5: side of the plane where they greeted Xi and his
- 10:02Speaker 5: wife and shook hands warmly. There was also a flyover
- 10:07Speaker 5: by two B-1 bombers, platoons from each military service, and
- 10:11Speaker 5: a presentation of flags and anthems of both countries.
- 10:15Speaker 3: And did you notice that he also had airplanes that
- 10:18Speaker 3: were riding in the sky?
- 10:19Speaker 2: You know, what do they call that? Sky writing? What's
- 10:23Speaker 2: the term?
- 10:24Speaker 5: Yeah, sky writing.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Is it sky writing?
- 10:27Speaker 3: He had those up and it spelled Trump across the sky.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Did you notice that?
- 10:31Speaker 3: No.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:34Speaker 5: I missed that, Bill.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Gee, your hair smells terrific.
- 10:37Speaker 2: You know, do I? Amy, I'm never going to stop,
- 10:40Speaker 2: am I?
- 10:41Speaker 5: No, you're not.
- 10:43Speaker 3: I've got over two years to go on this.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Do you want one more?
- 10:51Speaker 3: Sure.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Let's do one more.
- 10:53Speaker 6: Okay. Seven months after the U.S. and Israel launched war
- 10:57Speaker 6: on Iran, the Iranian president stood at that podium in
- 11:01Speaker 6: New York to tell President Donald Trump that the Islamic
- 11:05Speaker 6: Republic will.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Not bow down.
- 11:09Speaker 6: Saying that Iran will not yield on its nuclear program,
- 11:14Speaker 6: missile defense or control of the Strait of Hormuz, even though,
- 11:20Speaker 6: you know, Trump said. He's going to annihilate the Islamic
- 11:24Speaker 6: Republic and drive it into hell, which is like a
- 11:28Speaker 6: 1970s movie.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Drive you into hell.
- 11:33Speaker 3: How long has he been saying that? Literally since the
- 11:36Speaker 3: start of the war seven months ago.
- 11:38Speaker 5: Yeah, but he's trying to get him to the table.
- 11:39Speaker 5: He doesn't want to bomb him, I don't think.
- 11:42Speaker 4: No, he can't.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Oh, no, he wants to bomb him. He just can't
- 11:45Speaker 3: because of the political outcry. And in the long term,
- 11:49Speaker 3: he can, in fact, destroy Iran. But it would be slow.
- 11:54Speaker 3: It would be slow and it would have to be
- 11:56Speaker 3: done fast. financially, economically. That's the only way Iran's ever
- 11:59Speaker 3: going to collapse. Militarily, it isn't going to happen. Okay,
- 12:02Speaker 3: let's take a break.
- 12:03Speaker 2: We'll be back. Amy, you're yawning.
- 12:06Speaker 7: What?
- 12:06Speaker 2: Are you already bored already? You're bored? The show just started.
- 12:10Speaker 5: No, I'm sleepy because I get up at 2.30 in
- 12:12Speaker 5: the morning.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:14Speaker 4: And bored.
- 12:15Speaker 5: I am not bored. Stop it.
- 12:18Speaker 7: You're listening to Bill Handel, On Demand from KFI AM640.
- 12:24Speaker 2: The Going Over the Edge event tomorrow with Amy and Neil.
- 12:28Speaker 3: And Amy, Neil, we did not give the information where
- 12:31Speaker 3: people can donate.
- 12:33Speaker 2: And we'd love to have you there.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Watching them fall over the edge and just how entertaining
- 12:40Speaker 3: can it be when the ropes snap?
- 12:42Speaker 2: How do we do this?
- 12:44Speaker 5: It's super easy. Just go to urm.org slash O-T-E. There's
- 12:51Speaker 5: a little Team KFI button. And you click on that.
- 12:53Speaker 5: You can go to Neil's. You can go to mine.
- 12:55Speaker 5: You can go to the general page, wherever you want
- 12:57Speaker 5: to drop that cash. We'll take it. I was just
- 13:00Speaker 5: showing New Clay the video from last year, and it's
- 13:03Speaker 5: making me really sick to my stomach.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yeah, because they rappel down, what, 22 floors or something?
- 13:12Speaker 5: 26 stories, 25, 26.
- 13:13Speaker 3: 26 stories going straight down. But it's fun, isn't it?
- 13:17Speaker 3: Or is it too scary to be fun?
- 13:18Speaker 5: It's terrifying and exhilarating. That's what I tell everybody.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my relationship with my wife.
- 13:25Speaker 5: There you go.
- 13:29Speaker 2: And less on the exhilarating and more on the terrifying.
- 13:33Speaker 4: And you repel her, too.
- 13:35Speaker 2: There you are. Okay. More handle on the news. Amy,
- 13:39Speaker 2: Neil and me.
- 13:41Speaker 5: LA's making more homes people can afford. The city council
- 13:45Speaker 5: unanimously approved four hundred sixty six point six million dollars
- 13:49Speaker 5: in funding. That's going to be doled out to developers
- 13:52Speaker 5: and nonprofits and land trusts and other organizations to build
- 13:56Speaker 5: and to renovate affordable housing. You can apply for it
- 13:59Speaker 5: starting mid-October through December, but they're going to give out grants.
- 14:05Speaker 5: And roughly 70% of the record budget being allocated will
- 14:09Speaker 5: come from Measure ULA, the so-called mansion tax.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we'll talk a lot about that.
- 14:15Speaker 3: That's coming up at $ 750 when I dive into that.
- 14:19Speaker 2: A little bit deeper.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Holy smokes.
- 14:22Speaker 6: Dolly Parton may have been the best human on the
- 14:25Speaker 6: planet and her nephew may be the exact opposite. We
- 14:31Speaker 6: don't know, but the claims are nuts. So Dolly Parton's
- 14:35Speaker 6: longtime business manager is apparently accusing her nephew, who was
- 14:40Speaker 6: the former head of security at for her for like
- 14:45Speaker 6: 20 years. And apparently she was really big. If family
- 14:49Speaker 6: members had skills or abilities she could use, she would
- 14:53Speaker 6: hire them. And so Parton's nephew, Brian Seaver, has carried out,
- 14:59Speaker 6: this is the claim, campaign of threats, intimidation, and coercion.
- 15:03Speaker 6: And Parton's manager, Danny Nozell, asked the judge to bar
- 15:07Speaker 6: Seaver from from interfering or disrupting business relationship for she's
- 15:11Speaker 6: alive which is an entity uh designated by partner uh
- 15:15Speaker 6: her trust right so apparently this guy has said some
- 15:21Speaker 6: nutty things he he told her attorney i'm not an
- 15:25Speaker 6: entertainment person i'm a.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Killer That's the allegation. Yeah, that's the allegation.
- 15:32Speaker 6: He threatened to harm the reputation of Parton's businesses, including Dollywood,
- 15:37Speaker 6: if he didn't receive money from her estate. He also
- 15:40Speaker 6: said he referred to himself as an international arms dealer
- 15:44Speaker 6: and mercenary.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah, according to the motion asking the court, it's a
- 15:50Speaker 3: straight extortion attempt.
- 15:51Speaker 2: That's basically it.
- 15:53Speaker 3: He just wants a pile of money and he's willing
- 15:54Speaker 3: to threaten her reputation and If he doesn't get it.
- 15:58Speaker 4: We'll see what happens. This is true. What a dink.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 5: Hackers Down Under, mate. An open AI agent has infiltrated
- 16:08Speaker 5: a government services website in Australia. Appears to be the
- 16:11Speaker 5: first publicly disclosed hacking of a government service. The Services
- 16:18Speaker 5: Australia Network provides government services like health care to Australians.
- 16:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Now, the story doesn't say whether the program, the AI agent,
- 16:30Speaker 3: did it on its own and wasn't told to do it.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Do we know?
- 16:34Speaker 3: And just arbitrarily said, OK, here we go. We'll take–
- 16:38Speaker 3: we'll hack this website and we won't hack anybody else.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Don't know. But OpenAI said it wasn't aware of the incident. So–
- 16:47Speaker 2: Everything's going to get hacked. Yeah, everything. Everything.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Yeah, everything.
- 16:51Speaker 3: You're going to have absolutely, absolutely no ability to stop it.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Here's my fear is that bank accounts, everybody has money
- 17:00Speaker 3: in the bank, hopefully. And what stops bad guys? What
- 17:04Speaker 3: stops these algorithms, these agents that AI has from going
- 17:09Speaker 3: into our bank accounts and cleaning us out?
- 17:11Speaker 4: Well, don't put anything more than $ 250, 000 in any one bank.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Yeah, but if all the accounts got hacked, they wouldn't
- 17:18Speaker 5: be able to pay him out.
- 17:19Speaker 3: You know, I was processing that, and that is true
- 17:21Speaker 3: because the FDIC guarantees anything.
- 17:23Speaker 5: Over $ 250.
- 17:23Speaker 4: The FDIC will take care of you.
- 17:25Speaker 5: What are you going to do when the money runs out?
- 17:27Speaker 2: That's true. Well, you're going to borrow more.
- 17:29Speaker 5: If everybody gets hacked, you're not going to be able
- 17:31Speaker 5: to pay him back.
- 17:31Speaker 6: You make a run on the Bailey home and loan,
- 17:35Speaker 6: and then George Bailey comes out and.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Said, no, your money's in Martini's house. And then everybody, no?
- 17:42Speaker 4: No one?
- 17:42Speaker 1: No.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:43Speaker 3: But it's scary stuff. And I've always wondered about that.
- 17:46Speaker 3: It could happen now with a hacker. We pay for
- 17:49Speaker 3: a lot of stuff via the internet. As a matter
- 17:51Speaker 3: of fact, most of us pay online. I may have
- 17:53Speaker 3: been the last person to use checks.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 3: So it scares me. But then again, I don't understand it.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Because I am a technology maven of the first water.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Okay.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and take a break. And we'll come back.
- 18:09Speaker 3: And there's more Handel on the news coming up.
- 18:12Speaker 7: You're listening to Bill Handel On Demand from KFI AM 640.
- 18:19Speaker 3: We continue on more Handel on the News with Amy, Neil,
- 18:22Speaker 3: and me. Oh, by the way, Amy, I didn't go
- 18:24Speaker 3: through the clothing everybody wore as I usually do. Yes.
- 18:27Speaker 2: And that is, I'm wearing your Disneyland shirt that you
- 18:31Speaker 2: gave me.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Oh, nice.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Thank you very much for that. And Anne is wearing
- 18:34Speaker 3: her traditional Padres garb. And.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Okay, I have no idea what Mario is wearing. It's
- 18:41Speaker 2: just god-awful, whatever the hell that is. I'm wearing a
- 18:45Speaker 2: flannel that just so happens to be Padre colors.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Yay, Mario.
- 18:49Speaker 3: It looks like a lesbian flannel shirt kind of thing,
- 18:53Speaker 3: you know?
- 18:54Speaker 6: By the way, we're going to have to take his
- 18:55Speaker 6: Mexican card away.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we are.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Padre colors.
- 18:58Speaker 3: As a friend of mine says, not only are you
- 19:00Speaker 3: dressing like a lesbian, do you have stout shoes on?
- 19:03Speaker 2: Because that's something else that... A friend of mine who's
- 19:06Speaker 2: British says that. Okay, let's move on. More handle on
- 19:09Speaker 2: the news.
- 19:10Speaker 5: Except you forget to mention the Dodger blue. You mentioned
- 19:13Speaker 5: all this Padres colors.
- 19:14Speaker 2: You know, you're absolutely right. Dodger blue.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Well, I'm in Dodger black and you are, I'm in
- 19:19Speaker 3: Disneyland black and you are in Dodger blue.
- 19:21Speaker 5: Yep.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Real Dodger blue. Like the reflecting pool is real American
- 19:29Speaker 3: flag blue.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Oh my gosh.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Not in pieces.
- 19:31Speaker 4: You just can't.
- 19:32Speaker 6: You could tie anything to him, can't you?
- 19:35Speaker 3: I know.
- 19:36Speaker 2: You want to do some more?
- 19:40Speaker 3: I know. I know.
- 19:42Speaker 2: And of course, there's Will. into that.
- 19:44Speaker 3: He keeps going to the same Italian restaurant, grabbing the
- 19:47Speaker 3: tablecloth and.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Making shirts out of it. It's really weird. OK, moving on.
- 19:51Speaker 2: More handle on the news. Flock you. Flock Safety told U.S.
- 19:55Speaker 6: Senate, you weren't going to do it, Amy, that it
- 19:59Speaker 6: has tightened the requirement for police officers and other users
- 20:02Speaker 6: to access rather the search of its database. We all
- 20:07Speaker 6: know that there's billions of license plates that are in
- 20:11Speaker 6: this database. We heard the story of that law enforcement
- 20:15Speaker 6: officer who was looking up his ex-girlfriend or something like that.
- 20:19Speaker 6: And so they're trying to tighten this up. They're Atlanta
- 20:22Speaker 6: based company. They're making changes, and there's some sort of
- 20:26Speaker 6: pull-down or drop-down menu now, and it has standardized categories
- 20:31Speaker 6: monitored after the FBI's data reporting system that law enforcement
- 20:36Speaker 6: will have to use that will categorize who's looking and
- 20:40Speaker 6: for what reason they're looking at the information.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Okay, I got nothing.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Secrets stolen by AI, but will it spill the tea?
- 20:51Speaker 5: criminal hacking group, actually it wasn't stole by AI, it
- 20:54Speaker 5: was stole by hackers, stole a bunch of information, sensitive
- 20:58Speaker 5: personnel information that belonged to thousands of FBI officials. It's
- 21:03Speaker 5: apparently a stunning breach of private data for the nation's
- 21:06Speaker 5: top law enforcement agency, includes the names of current and
- 21:10Speaker 5: former agents, applicants, corresponding home addresses, phone numbers, names of spouses,
- 21:16Speaker 5: some medical information and other data. The group calls themselves
- 21:21Speaker 5: shiny hunters. They haven't yet leaked any of that information publicly.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Okay.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Shiny hunters, huh?
- 21:28Speaker 5: Shiny hunters. And not AI, just real hackers.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Just I?
- 21:33Speaker 6: Are we going to start differentiating that way? Was it
- 21:36Speaker 6: AI or just I?
- 21:38Speaker 2: All right.
- 21:39Speaker 6: So we've got some sad numbers. If you remember, we
- 21:42Speaker 6: talked about quite a bit.
- 21:43Speaker 4: The U.S.
- 21:44Speaker 6: Navy, USS Abraham Lincoln, that carrier strike group that was
- 21:49Speaker 6: out there in the water for quite some time. We
- 21:53Speaker 6: finally have a number of those that that tried to
- 21:56Speaker 6: commit suicide. And it was eight, which I mean, it's
- 22:01Speaker 6: sad to think of any suicide. But it it seems
- 22:04Speaker 6: that the rate of suicide attempts among the Lincoln strike
- 22:08Speaker 6: group sailors was roughly consistent with the entire active duty
- 22:13Speaker 6: Navy in 2024.
- 22:15Speaker 3: And the Pentagon, of course, said that these were not
- 22:17Speaker 3: suicide attempts. They were merely sailors that were practicing their
- 22:20Speaker 3: swan dives off of the edge of the carrier.
- 22:24Speaker 4: That's sad.
- 22:25Speaker 6: We often don't think about the pressure that goes on
- 22:28Speaker 6: the military and these poor people.
- 22:30Speaker 2: No, it is. But, you know, the story goes on
- 22:32Speaker 2: to say that this is no more than usual. I
- 22:35Speaker 2: get it. That if you look at the number.
- 22:37Speaker 3: You know, and you have young men and women who,
- 22:41Speaker 3: a lot of them join the military because they just
- 22:43Speaker 3: don't want to, don't know what they do with their lives.
- 22:46Speaker 2: That's legitimate.
- 22:48Speaker 3: And then you join the military where you have the
- 22:50Speaker 3: structure and they just don't do well with the structure. Yeah.
- 22:53Speaker 3: And they get pretty depressed. And, you know, there they
- 22:57Speaker 3: go off of the end of the carrier. Although I
- 23:01Speaker 3: don't think they attempted suicide. I don't think we found
- 23:04Speaker 3: any where the story is anybody succeeded in suicide.
- 23:07Speaker 2: All right.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Let's go and take last break of the hour before
- 23:10Speaker 3: we jump in and finish it all up.
- 23:13Speaker 7: You're listening to Bill Handel on demand from KFI AM 640.
- 23:20Speaker 2: You know what I'm going to do today?
- 23:21Speaker 3: This is my last day before my vacation starts today. Amy, Neil,
- 23:26Speaker 3: we're going to come back and pitch the donation for
- 23:30Speaker 3: the rescue mission, Union Rescue Mission, because you guys are
- 23:33Speaker 3: jumping off of a building.
- 23:36Speaker 2: And they are.
- 23:36Speaker 3: I mean, they're literally jumping off. And we haven't yet decided.
- 23:39Speaker 3: If you donate enough money, they will not use any
- 23:43Speaker 3: gear to arrest the fall.
- 23:46Speaker 6: We're going to Spider-Man it all the way down.
- 23:49Speaker 2: So how do people donate?
- 23:50Speaker 5: Neil?
- 23:52Speaker 4: Ladies first, please.
- 23:53Speaker 7: Okay.
- 23:54Speaker 2: It's super easy.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Just go to URM.org slash O-T-E, which stands for over
- 23:59Speaker 5: the edge. URM.org slash O-T-E. And there's a Team KFI
- 24:04Speaker 5: button right there on the homepage. Just click on that,
- 24:07Speaker 5: and then you can make your donation super easy and
- 24:09Speaker 5: quick to do. And we certainly appreciate anything that you
- 24:14Speaker 5: can donate because it's going for a really, really good
- 24:17Speaker 5: cause and a great organization.
- 24:19Speaker 3: And I, of course, did donate because I would never
- 24:21Speaker 3: ask you to donate if I don't do my own.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Oh, was that your $ 2? Yes, but I matched $ 2
- 24:24Speaker 2: coming in.
- 24:29Speaker 5: Yes, you did. They're matching up to $ 500, 000 in donations.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Which is pretty impressive.
- 24:33Speaker 5: Yep.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Pretty impressive.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Okay, let's go ahead and finish up the news on
- 24:37Speaker 3: this Thursday morning. Amy, Neil, me.
- 24:40Speaker 5: The Golden Arches getting a makeover. McDonald's has announced it's
- 24:43Speaker 5: going to spend $ 8. 5 billion to provide its franchisees with
- 24:48Speaker 5: some rent assistance and capital improvements. It's going to go
- 24:52Speaker 5: through 2036 as they work to improve their food taste,
- 24:57Speaker 5: their quality, the customer experience, restaurant operations, and hospitality.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Okay, Neil, in terms of the quality of food, I
- 25:07Speaker 3: think that's obviously the most important one. McDonald's, has it
- 25:10Speaker 3: gone down in reputation? Has it not kept up with
- 25:14Speaker 3: the rest of the industry in innovation areas? Because McDonald's
- 25:18Speaker 3: is down pretty substantially in terms of its value.
- 25:22Speaker 6: Innovation, probably not. They haven't put a lot of new
- 25:26Speaker 6: stuff on the menu. But as far as quality, they
- 25:29Speaker 6: went up when they started serving their quarter pounders and
- 25:34Speaker 6: the like fresh.
- 25:36Speaker 4: Meaning that they don't make them until you order them.
- 25:39Speaker 6: And although that takes a little longer, sometimes you have
- 25:42Speaker 6: to pull over and, you know, wait in the little
- 25:45Speaker 6: parking lot for them to come over. I think their
- 25:48Speaker 6: burgers have gotten better.
- 25:50Speaker 4: The Quarter Pounders.
- 25:52Speaker 5: Have you seen that? I think it's a Burger King
- 25:54Speaker 5: ad where they talk about how bad their chicken nuggets are.
- 25:58Speaker 2: No.
- 25:59Speaker 5: It's really interesting. They're like, here's the CEO of Burger King. Boy,
- 26:03Speaker 5: these are awful. They're really dry. They're too small. Well,
- 26:05Speaker 5: we're going to take it and we're going to fix it.
- 26:07Speaker 5: I was like, wow. So you've been selling us crap
- 26:10Speaker 5: food for years.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Well, I was like Domino's. Remember when Domino's changed its— Oh,
- 26:14Speaker 2: they had to, though.
- 26:16Speaker 4: It was so bad. They started— they changed everything. It became
- 26:20Speaker 4: cardboard with fake cheese.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it was great.
- 26:22Speaker 3: I actually enjoyed the old Domino's. I was disappointed when
- 26:27Speaker 3: they went to real sauce and real bread and real
- 26:30Speaker 3: stuff as opposed to all petroleum byproducts.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Okay, moving on.
- 26:35Speaker 7: Neal.
- 26:36Speaker 4: So this is it, man. This is the holy grail.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it is.
- 26:43Speaker 4: Geely Automotive.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Unveiled, they're out of China, a new electric vehicle charging
- 26:51Speaker 6: technology that says it can recharge a battery from 10%
- 26:54Speaker 6: to nearly full in under five minutes. And this Chinese
- 27:00Speaker 6: automaker said just yesterday that its latest charging technology used
- 27:04Speaker 6: artificial intelligence, of course. to deliver faster charging while reducing
- 27:09Speaker 6: heat and improve battery life, which is the key. Faster
- 27:13Speaker 6: you charge, you know, it ups the possibility of explosion
- 27:20Speaker 6: and fatigue on the battery.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Well, not only that, it's just the time that it takes.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I've always wondered. I had my electric vehicle. I just
- 27:26Speaker 3: got rid of it a month and a half, two
- 27:28Speaker 3: months ago. And it was always, I never went to
- 27:31Speaker 3: a public charging station because the super charge that is
- 27:35Speaker 3: could do it in 20 minutes is they weren't available.
- 27:39Speaker 2: It would be the old, you.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Know, four hours, five hours to charge. Who the hell
- 27:44Speaker 3: does that at a charging station? It made no sense whatsoever.
- 27:47Speaker 3: The Chinese technology, when it comes to EV technology, China
- 27:51Speaker 3: is miles ahead of the U.S., and the only reason
- 27:54Speaker 3: that we don't allow Chinese vehicles to be sold here
- 27:58Speaker 3: is because Chinese vehicles are miles ahead of the U.S.
- 28:02Speaker 6: I think once they become U.S.-approved, though, they won't be
- 28:06Speaker 6: cheap like you think.
- 28:07Speaker 2: I think they will.
- 28:08Speaker 6: I think our laws are much more strict than the
- 28:11Speaker 6: Chinese laws. And we drive different than China. And I
- 28:16Speaker 6: think they'd be comparable once you end up.
- 28:19Speaker 2: As in we drive more than 25 miles an hour
- 28:22Speaker 2: on the freeway?
- 28:22Speaker 3: No.
- 28:24Speaker 4: You smart ass. No.
- 28:27Speaker 6: China has different driving patterns than we do.
- 28:31Speaker 4: All right.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Well, we're going to talk a lot about that. Moving on.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Let's see if we can get another couple of stories in.
- 28:37Speaker 5: OK, we had a lot of deaths coming if this
- 28:39Speaker 5: El Nino pans out the way some people are expecting
- 28:42Speaker 5: it to. They're calling the El Nino that we will
- 28:46Speaker 5: most likely be experiencing this winter a supersized El Nino.
- 28:51Speaker 5: And a new report suggests that nearly half a million
- 28:54Speaker 5: people across the world could die by February because of
- 28:58Speaker 5: the extreme heat caused by the El Nino. The report
- 29:01Speaker 5: estimates heat from El Nino could take 451,000 lives between
- 29:05Speaker 5: June of 2026, when it first started, and February of 2027.
- 29:10Speaker 5: And that would be in addition to the usual number
- 29:13Speaker 5: of heat-related deaths.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Yep that's wait are we getting rain or not uh
- 29:18Speaker 3: we're gonna get more rain okay but people are gonna
- 29:20Speaker 3: die of the heat so no drought but no it's
- 29:23Speaker 3: gonna be more and no we're in drought but we're
- 29:25Speaker 3: gonna when the when the rain comes we are in
- 29:28Speaker 3: drought we are we are basically long-term drought look it
- 29:33Speaker 3: up long-term drought we are in and yes we are
- 29:37Speaker 3: going even though it's going to rain it's going to
- 29:39Speaker 3: be very hot rain. uh it's acid rain like not
- 29:44Speaker 3: acid rain just incredibly hot rain it's like your hot
- 29:47Speaker 3: water i'm making that up by the way that's not
- 29:49Speaker 3: true at all but the point uh also is uh
- 29:52Speaker 3: we the weather is very strange the storms are going
- 29:55Speaker 3: to get stormier look what's happening on the midwest and
- 29:57Speaker 3: the east coast every night there's a major story uh
- 30:01Speaker 3: we are well look at the summer how much how
- 30:04Speaker 3: much rain we got none in june which is usually
- 30:06Speaker 3: june gloom which we usually get Look at the amount
- 30:09Speaker 3: of rainfall that we've gotten so far this summer.
- 30:12Speaker 2: It gets weird. It's just very strange.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Five catastrophic.
- 30:17Speaker 6: Extinctions in the history of the globe.
- 30:21Speaker 2: That is correct.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Before humans were ever on here.
- 30:23Speaker 2: But nobody cares. Hey, this one's for you and the missus,
- 30:26Speaker 2: by the way.
- 30:26Speaker 5: Okay.
- 30:27Speaker 2: This one's for you and the missus.
- 30:29Speaker 6: Woman says United flight crew made her sit by a
- 30:33Speaker 6: man who claims was masturbating. This is a topic for
- 30:36Speaker 6: excessive baggage.com. The new podcast coming to an ear globe
- 30:42Speaker 6: near you. I'm producing your show.
- 30:45Speaker 2: No, I understand.
- 30:46Speaker 4: I understand.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Last time I was on the flight with Lindsay, I
- 30:49Speaker 3: remember her leaning over saying, stop it.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Stop that right now. So anyway, there's just, yeah, never mind.
- 30:57Speaker 4: You guys are weird.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Yeah, we are. It's an interesting story. And the crew
- 31:01Speaker 3: made her sit down again. She was standing for the
- 31:04Speaker 3: whole trip.
- 31:04Speaker 6: If I heard that, I would have taken her seat
- 31:06Speaker 6: and said, please sit by my family so you don't
- 31:09Speaker 6: have to deal with that. I would stare at him
- 31:11Speaker 6: with my hand under the blanket saying, how do you
- 31:14Speaker 6: like it?
- 31:14Speaker 4: And then I'd boop his nose.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Boop. I have no idea what you just said, but
- 31:19Speaker 3: we are going to take a break and we are
- 31:21Speaker 3: coming back. And the judge yesterday blocked the White House
- 31:26Speaker 3: ban on CNN, MSNOW, Politico. And some news just broke
- 31:31Speaker 3: that the administration is saying too bad. We don't care
- 31:34Speaker 3: what the judge says. Do I have it right, Anne?
- 31:37Speaker 3: Did you say that they have still blocked CNN? Really interesting. Major,
- 31:43Speaker 3: major issue if that's the case. And it seems to be.
- 31:46Speaker 3: We'll be right back.
- 31:47Speaker 2: KFI AM 640.
- 31:49Speaker 1: You've been listening to The Bill Handel Show. Catch my
- 31:52Speaker 1: show Monday through Friday, 6 a.m.
- 31:54Speaker 2: To 9 a.m. and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
