- 0:29Now let's get into it.
- 0:31Hello out there.
- 0:33Online world.
- 0:34We're shooting on Monday.
- 0:36On a Monday, I know.
- 0:37It's a different day.
- 0:38So Wednesday is the big dog's birthday.
- 0:41No numbers.
- 0:42So I always tell people how old David is because I'm like, because you look so good.
- 0:47You know, I'm like, oh, you wouldn't know he's whatever.
- 0:49And he always says, He's keeping up with his skincare routine.
- 0:52Oh, yeah.
- 0:52Yeah.
- 0:52He's obsessed with it.
- 0:53Um, he's actually very diligent.
- 0:55And yeah, he's the only guy who, like, on vacation, we were in Montreal, and he's like, I brought two different face masks with me.
- 1:02And he's like sitting there with a sheet over his face.
- 1:05He has like the mouth whitening stuff in in a robe.
- 1:08I'm like, I'm glad you're very comfortable and you're feminine.
- 1:11But if I tell people how old he is, he gets so mad.
- 1:14He looks amazing.
- 1:15I know.
- 1:15I'm like, bro, you're good.
- 1:17You got this.
- 1:18But yeah, so my father has his birthday tomorrow, and then David's birthday is on Wednesday.
- 1:24So I appreciate it.
- 1:25We're gonna go to the precinct.
- 1:27He has a big case on Thursday, which he's told me like 17 times.
- 1:30Like, I have a really big case on Thursday.
- 1:32I can't stay out late on my birthday.
- 1:34I'm like, okay, you're an adult and you can like rein yourself in.
- 1:37We also can just stay home.
- 1:38He's like, no, it's my birthday.
- 1:39I have to go out to dinner.
- 1:40I was like, okay.
- 1:41When you reach down, we're like, let's shoot on Monday.
- 1:44It's David's birthday on Wednesday.
- 1:45I'm like, okay.
- 1:46This is gonna be a fun week for us.
- 1:48I know.
- 1:49And then we're gonna see each other on Saturday because we're throwing a big birthday bash, which again, in true David Morales fashion, he's it's Monday.
- 1:59And today he goes, Well, first it started with, Do you think we can get like a magician or a mentalist for the party?
- 2:05And I was like, Your party's in six days.
- 2:08And he goes, Well, you got a tarot card reader for Lucy's baby shower.
- 2:12Can we have a tarot card reader?
- 2:14And I was like, David, we're gonna have 40 people here.
- 2:17And he's like, Yeah, it would be great.
- 2:18It'll be like entertainment.
- 2:20I'm like, the DJ is not enough that we're having.
- 2:23Private chef.
- 2:24I know, yeah.
- 2:25Private chef, bartender.
- 2:26He's like, I think it would just be so cool.
- 2:28So I'm like, You could always hire your makeup artist, the girls are like, I know, to come back.
- 2:32Yeah, it's really just he has FOMO.
- 2:35I'm not trying to like be an elitist and brag.
- 2:38It's to show the point that like my husband has a fear of missing out, and he's like, Lucy had a tarot card reader.
- 2:43I'm on a tarot card reader.
- 2:45And I'm like, Well, I like Lucy more than you sometimes.
- 2:47So that's probably the truth.
- 2:49Yeah.
- 2:50How are you?
- 2:50I'm tired.
- 2:52I am tired too.
- 2:52You know what?
- 2:53I took, I was waiting for you.
- 2:54I was seeing patients up until like five, and I sat down and a friend of mine, I don't have the book somewhere, I don't know the name of the book, it, but it talks about the art of gathering.
- 3:04Ooh.
- 3:05And came highly recommended to him.
- 3:07But I was getting ready to open up the book.
- 3:09I sat down and I'm like, you know, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna lean back, and I got like through a paragraph, and I was like, oh, caught myself snoring.
- 3:18Yeah.
- 3:18Like, what is going on?
- 3:20I know.
- 3:20How's your weekend?
- 3:21Weekend was good, actually.
- 3:23It was very quiet.
- 3:24We like on Friday literally did nothing.
- 3:27Um, he got home kind of late, so we've been watching the handmaid's tale.
- 3:32Like, it is no one's business.
- 3:33Have you seen it?
- 3:34I I've heard of it, but I I don't really watch like TV movies and stuff like that.
- 3:41Success.
- 3:42It is about like a essentially the it's like a dystopia, but there's an infertility crisis, and the idea that these radicals have is that the root cause of the infertility crisis is of course I guess the woman.
- 3:58Right?
- 3:59And like as someone who works in fertility medicine nowadays used to be like 80% the woman, 20% the man.
- 4:06I would say we are at least 50-50 that it it's the man's fault.
- 4:09Anyways, so in this dystopia, infertility crisis, and it's worldwide.
- 4:14So in America, this again group of radicals decide it's not only the woman's fault, it is because of her in and that she's you know gotten so much into being a career woman and we gave them the right to vote, and and like that a renaissance woman.
- 4:30So we we can't have children because we're because we're impure.
- 4:34Because we're impure.
- 4:35Oh wow.
- 4:36And no, I don't think I want to watch this.
- 4:38Oh, you think you're so mad.
- 4:40So, anyways, they like take over the United States, they rename it Gilead, and they capture anybody in the last like couple years, any woman who's had a child, like who's been successful, and they make them handmaids.
- 4:52And the role of the handmaid is to produce children for these families who are commanders, and and so once a month during their ovulation, they have a ceremony where the wife holds down the handmaid so that she's involved, and the husband essentially rapes the handmaid.
- 5:09Oh wow, and then she makes a baby for them.
- 5:12Wow, it is wild.
- 5:14How many seasons?
- 5:16Six.
- 5:17Six seasons?
- 5:18Yeah, it won it won.
- 5:19I read about this, won 15 different Emmy Awards and like Gordon Glove Award.
- 5:23It's really good, but it is the first two seasons at least.
- 5:28I was like, this is garbage.
- 5:31I just and I kept saying, and it's clearly because a lot of times it doesn't work.
- 5:35I'm like, it's not her.
- 5:37Have we not thought about the semen that's coming out?
- 5:40You know, like so, anyways, it's it's a lot of that.
- 5:43And they like, I mean, it's it's crazy, but it's very infuriating.
- 5:47So I want to ask you a question.
- 5:49Go for it.
- 5:50How long, whether it's like theoretically speaking, like a boyfriend or a friend, how long do you think it takes to really get to know someone?
- 5:58Oh my god.
- 5:59I'm gonna tell you, I'm I'm just like, you know, I'm starting to develop different relationships in my older years, and I'm like, I think there are layers, right?
- 6:08Yeah.
- 6:08I think there are layers.
- 6:09So I think like the initial connection is very important.
- 6:13So I think about like the people in my circle.
- 6:16So it's you, Lucy, Robin, Carrie, Olga, Sarah, and then Libby and Olivia.
- 6:24They've been like those are babies.
- 6:26My children, yeah.
- 6:27But in all of those people, I had a like immediate connection, and that was like one layer, right?
- 6:33And then as we've gotten to know each other, like you and I, this is very organic.
- 6:37We opened a business together, that's another layer, right?
- 6:39And in that business now, we're going one step further.
- 6:42We're like, we're producing a product like our bed, right?
- 6:45It's another layer.
- 6:45But Lucy, it was like helping her through fertility, like working.
- 6:48I feel like Wiley, like her son, is like such a part of making some like, do you know how hard we all worked for you to come into this world?
- 6:56Yes.
- 6:56And cheered for you and prayed for you and all of that.
- 6:59Yeah.
- 6:59So I think to initially get to know someone well, like where we are at this stage of life.
- 7:05I mean, it can be quick a day, a month.
- 7:08But I think again, to go into those layers, I think it takes years.
- 7:11What do you think?
- 7:12You know, I I'll tell you that uh, you know, I I am single and I, as of recently, have She's on the market.
- 7:20I'm not saying that to say that.
- 7:22Do not DMs.
- 7:23Slide into her DMs.
- 7:24Please do not.
- 7:25If I showed you my DMs, you would be like, what in the world?
- 7:28You'd be like, 'My way, that'd be like that.' You would be, you would get David a tarot card reader of whatever else he needed and wanted.
- 7:34That's how happy you would be.
- 7:35But no, I'm only saying that.
- 7:37And I'm not just talking about just out here like meeting people and dating people, but also just in general, meeting new friends and associates.
- 7:46And I just think that people just show you what they want you to know or want you to see.
- 7:52And as time progresses, there are things that are like shocking to me.
- 7:56And I'm like, am I not like a good judge of character?
- 8:00Because sometimes like things that are off-putting, things that are off-putting and like narcissism.
- 8:06Oh, that is so hard.
- 8:08Like, I I never really understood that word.
- 8:11Like when you're younger, you think of a narcissist like a commander, someone against someone kind of evil, right?
- 8:17But now I think about my life, and I'm like, oh my god, I know a lot of narcissists.
- 8:22Like, again, what does that say about me?
- 8:24Right.
- 8:24Are we a child?
- 8:25My I feel like my dad's a narcissist.
- 8:27I'm not gonna lie.
- 8:28Oh, sure.
- 8:28My father definitely is like the sun, moon, and stars revolve around him.
- 8:32I mean, my husband, kindest person, biggest heart in the world, definitely a narcissist.
- 8:37I think he would even, but he would even say he is.
- 8:40The one thing about David's very self-aware, he'd be like, Yeah, of course I am.
- 8:43Because I think he has to have a belief that he can do the things he can, you know what I mean?
- 8:47Like he can't go into like he just did like this lung transplant.
- 8:52This kid was on a device for two years, da da da, like this huge thing.
- 8:56He can't go in there like feeling like a pussy, right?
- 8:58He has to be in there being like, I'm the man, I can do this, no one else can save this child but me.
- 9:04So there are great things through narcissism, but then like most of it's kind of bad.
- 9:08So my mom actually shared a story, and this it goes down to exactly who my father is.
- 9:13It's like I'm hungry, okay.
- 9:16Sure.
- 9:16You have a selection of things, like I've made you three things.
- 9:19Like my mom is so catering.
- 9:21A, B, or C.
- 9:21Yes, A, B, or C that I've made for you.
- 9:23And he's like, I don't want any of that.
- 9:26And so it's like almost and a lot of it is like a cultural thing too, because my mom in our culture, she's very like serving and subservient, right?
- 9:35Yes, I'm listening.
- 9:36But Megan, there comes a point where it's like you can't, you just can't be a jackass like that.
- 9:42You have to be fully aware.
- 9:44You can't be rude.
- 9:45You can't be rude.
- 9:46And like sometimes I I you know, I have a couple patients sometimes that have been challenging, and I look at it like, okay, we come from different paradigms, we have different experiences and I'm trying to like I have a good friend and mentor that's like always try to put yourself in somebody else's shoes.
- 10:03Yeah, absolutely.
- 10:03Yeah, but as of as of recently, I've kind of like stepped back from like not, you know, my close friends, but developing more relationships.
- 10:13I feel like I'm a little bit more guarded as opening up and getting to know people because I I will tell you, I had a situation where I thought we were fully aligned, fully on the same page, our objectives to get to a certain goal.
- 10:27And uh we had some disagreements, and it was like, no, this person is saying to me it's my way or I'm not doing it.
- 10:35So what do you do?
- 10:37Do you walk away from a project or do you walk away from a situation?
- 10:41Or how do you move forward?
- 10:42Is it worth it to invest and try to get through that?
- 10:45Or do you just say, you know what, this is not a good fit for me?
- 10:48So I think, I mean, obviously the answer is always it depends, right?
- 10:52In some relationships, like it's harder to sever than others, right?
- 10:56So it's very easy in a superficial relationship to be like, okay, like obviously that was very off-putting, not for me.
- 11:02I'm just gonna walk away.
- 11:04But if you are in a project or you're working with someone, and I I mean, I've gone through this even with my colleagues and my employees, where I'm like, okay, like and I've talked to you about it, where I'm like, I'm really struggling with this individual.
- 11:20Is it bad enough that it warrants?
- 11:22I mean, technically, right, I should I should fire them.
- 11:25And then I think about what's the backlash and and about them as a human and their situation and their family.
- 11:31So sometimes I choose to tolerate it.
- 11:33And what I try to do in my mind is kind of put them in an avatar or box where I'm like, okay, you know what?
- 11:39We are not friends.
- 11:40We don't need to be.
- 11:41This is strictly transactional.
- 11:43You know, are an employee.
- 11:46I'm gonna respect you as an employee, I always treat you with respect, and that's it.
- 11:51And I'm just not going to dive deeper.
- 11:54And then sometimes I'm like, you know what?
- 11:56No, this is worse for both of us.
- 11:58Like us staying in this relationship is actually worse for both of us and the outcome.
- 12:02So us being the patients, then it's a no.
- 12:05And then sometimes, you know, it's introspection of like, is it me?
- 12:09And is there something I need to do differently?
- 12:11Because at one point I really value this relationship and this friendship, and I've done something to not water it.
- 12:17And I think when I think of that in business, I think of like my partners, where I'm like, every time we butt heads or we get into an argument, or I'm viscerally upset with them about something, I always think about like what did I do to put myself in the situation?
- 12:32Is there something I can do better?
- 12:34You know, I'm such a to a fault.
- 12:36Somebody said this to me.
- 12:37Actually, they said to a fault.
- 12:39They're like, you just think with your heart sometimes and not your head, and you lead everything with your heart, and sometimes you have to be able to compartmentalize the two.
- 12:46Yeah.
- 12:47And it's been really, really, really challenging for me because I always want to see the good in people.
- 12:51Of course.
- 12:52Yeah.
- 12:52I know one of my partners, Julie, I'm gonna give her a shout out because every time I'm about to have an emotion, an emotional breakdown, she's always like, Well, you know, she always gives people the benefit of the doubt.
- 13:04She's yes, yeah.
- 13:05She's such a great people manager and uh in a leadership role.
- 13:10You know, I belong to a couple different committees and things of that nature, and I'm always so emotional because I I want everybody to be so heartfelt and like feel like my intentions, like nobody's gonna feel my intentions, right?
- 13:23And you want people to be as hardworking as you.
- 13:25And I think you and I have talked about that.
- 13:28That it the thing that uh upsets us the most is when they're not.
- 13:32And we can't make someone something they're not, right?
- 13:35Like I know some things that you've struggled with really are that like when someone's not producing, not because of a because sorry, because of a lack of effort.
- 13:44You know what I mean?
- 13:45Where you're like it's one thing to be like, man, they are grinding, they are trying, and it's just not happening.
- 13:50And then you feel empathy, yes, but it's another thing to be like, you are doing nothing to improve your situation.
- 13:57Yeah, absolutely.
- 13:58Yeah, so I've had I can count maybe on three different occasions.
- 14:03God, and it's just the start of the week.
- 14:05I can't even imagine what's gonna happen.
- 14:07But yeah, just really challenging situations where I'm like, God, is this worth it?
- 14:11Is it worth the energy, right?
- 14:13Yeah, because we have very little energy right now.
- 14:16I know.
- 14:16So many different projects with our event planning and all these things.
- 14:19I was gonna say, is it the event you want to back up?
- 14:22I was like, please don't do that.
- 14:23I think it's gonna be great.
- 14:24I think I promise to deliver.
- 14:26You're like, is it me?
- 14:27I know.
- 14:28Are you using me as an example?
- 14:30Yes, Megan, it's you.
- 14:31No, which is fine.
- 14:32I don't get too bougie.
- 14:34We have a budget, Megan.
- 14:36It's really you.
- 14:37I was gonna say, I always say, but I will make a word, we'll find the resources.
- 14:42I'll find the resources.
- 14:42This is Megan.
- 14:43We'll we'll just we'll figure out a way.
- 14:45Go ahead and order the caviar from London.
- 14:48No, Megan.
- 14:50I don't say that thing.
- 14:51I'm just kidding.
- 14:53I know, but it is true.
- 14:54It's okay.
- 14:55I'm always like, Megan, it's not in our budget.
- 14:57We'll find a way.
- 14:58We'll find a way.
- 14:59It's fine.
- 15:00I'll give them free bow talks.
- 15:02We'll find a way.
- 15:02Okay, I did, I did sling some more cash for us last week.
- 15:06I uh yeah, I had some conversations that needed to be had about appropriately remunerating me for some services.
- 15:12So yeah, and I was like, all right, that's money for the event.
- 15:15Like, thank you, Don.
- 15:17So move on.
- 15:18So I'm always I'm out there hustling for us.
- 15:21I'm I'm hustling too.
- 15:22Yeah.
- 15:23We've got some, thank you so much for supporting us.
- 15:25Yes, thank you for supporting us.
- 15:26We're reached out.
- 15:27Yeah.
- 15:28So many DMs are like, oh my God, I'm excited.
- 15:31Where the thing that I didn't, this camera is really annoying me.
- 15:34I didn't appreciate was that I think we're gonna have some people travel.
- 15:38I thought it would just be local.
- 15:40I mean, it's not gonna be a huge book, but so many of my patients, shout out to all of you.
- 15:44My patients are the best, especially the ones I've had for some of them I've had for so long, like through three different practices, and now we just like laughs.
- 15:53That's love following me through three different 100%.
- 15:55That's so much love, and you know who you are out there, and I love you and I appreciate you, and I appreciate your appointments because all we do is like catch up on life.
- 16:04Right.
- 16:05It's just like social hour.
- 16:06I'm like, hi, what are you doing?
- 16:07How's your husband?
- 16:09But um no, I think we're gonna have some people travel, which will be cool.
- 16:12You know, one of the things that I never knew was that if you're asking, like, well, I'm sure that different policies, different hotels have different policies, but like the whole attrition thing, like I didn't know that was a thing.
- 16:24Like, yeah.
- 16:25I mean, as we're putting together the budget, like I didn't know that if you ask for like a block of rooms, you have to pay for like 80%.
- 16:3280%, otherwise we have to pay it.
- 16:34Yeah.
- 16:34So what we will do is we'll send people a list of hotels from Tariffs and people can choose, yeah.
- 16:40And feel free to DM us because this is our I I I would love to include you guys in what you want.
- 16:46It's really for you guys.
- 16:47It's all for you.
- 16:48So I mean, give us exciting things.
- 16:50So how do we keep Megan within budget?
- 16:53We're not gonna have a tarot card reader, but we are gonna have a makeup artist.
- 16:56I'm just saying that now.
- 16:58I haven't even asked her, but Camille, I'm telling you, you're gonna work this event.
- 17:02She's the best.
- 17:03Yeah, and she'll do many makeovers, people will love.
- 17:05Now we have a lot of exciting things, a lot of good speakers.
- 17:09We're gonna do a live podcast, which is gonna be so fun.
- 17:12Yes, yes, it's gonna be great, it's gonna be awesome.
- 17:15I didn't tell my parents, I forgot, but they're gonna come because I need help with the dogs.
- 17:21My husband's unreliable.
- 17:22He's like, I'll take care of the dogs for two days.
- 17:24And I was like, Do you know what they eat?
- 17:26Have you ever fed the dogs?
- 17:28I don't know that's I it's not reliable.
- 17:31And your dad's birthday, he's coming.
- 17:33Yeah, he's coming this weekend.
- 17:34He's so my dad's birthday, shout out to Mark, is tomorrow.
- 17:37He'll be 73.
- 17:38He doesn't mind me saying his age.
- 17:40He looks incredible.
- 17:41He does look incredible.
- 17:42I give my parents big kudos.
- 17:44So when I got really into like health and wellness, they were like good students of the craft, and the best thing that they did was move to Florida.
- 17:53So when my parents moved from Ohio to Florida, I think it really extended their life because yeah, they're in it one, they're in a community and they made a decision to not do a 55 and up.
- 18:06This camera is really frustrating me today.
- 18:09It's picking up on you.
- 18:10Yeah.
- 18:11Maybe because I'm moving around.
- 18:12There you go.
- 18:13It's okay.
- 18:14So they decided not to, well, now it's only on me.
- 18:17It's okay.
- 18:17They can't move to a 55 and up, and they so they babysit a lot of kids.
- 18:23My mom was a first grade teacher, so she like tutors a lot of children.
- 18:27So it keeps them engaged with young families, right?
- 18:30And they're in a place that has this like huge, it's like a 10-mile path.
- 18:33So they walk every day, they ride their bikes.
- 18:36So I really do think like sunshine, exercise, community, right?
- 18:40It hits like those pillars of health, has helped them so much that I mean they look incredible.
- 18:45They can walk seven miles and yeah, feel fine.
- 18:49So when I was looking at your wedding pictures, you showed me your dad hugging you.
- 18:52I mean, literally, he looks like your older brother.
- 18:55Incredible.
- 18:55He would love that again.
- 18:56He's a narcissist.
- 18:57As he's sobbing hysterically through the whole thing.
- 19:01All right.
- 19:02So let's talk about summer.
- 19:04My goodness.
- 19:04I'm just I know it's June.
- 19:06It is June.
- 19:07And there's there's a couple things that I want to tackle.
- 19:10As I was thinking through, you know, for I don't know if this is true for you, but in the world of aesthetics, summer is always challenging because people are.
- 19:19Oh, yeah, you probably want to murder also your patients because I literally'm so good.
- 19:24Look how pale I am.
- 19:25I was actually looking at you really close.
- 19:27I am I am proud of you.
- 19:28Let me see the other side where you're my God.
- 19:31Well, they did the liquid nitrogen.
- 19:33Yeah, but uh overall your skin looks amazing because I know that I know, but I have this guy right here.
- 19:38Yeah, we'll take care of that.
- 19:39I made an appointment next, no, I think it's this month or end of this month, beginning of next month.
- 19:44And I I made it just for toxin, but I figured you could just slide something in there.
- 19:47Yeah, we'll throw some smooth threads right in there.
- 19:50Or it's like a little filler.
- 19:51Just get rid of it.
- 19:52I have so those of you listening, I have like, what is it?
- 19:55A marionette sign, is that right?
- 19:57What would you call this?
- 19:58Yeah, and no.
- 19:59Um, that's just when you have a little bit of collagen loss, elastin changes that are construction.
- 20:04It's like a line divot on the right side of my mouth that drives me nuts.
- 20:08We can stick some smooth threads in there superficially and it can stimulate some collagen.
- 20:13It won't be like the immediate thing, but over time with a little bit tightening and contraction.
- 20:17I know, Megan, you think that filler can be placed everywhere for every single reason, but we can't.
- 20:23All I know is when it was in my chin, it was the best thing ever.
- 20:26It was my favorite, it was my favorite filler moment with chin.
- 20:31I was like, oh my God.
- 20:32Oh my god.
- 20:33I did actually, I was talking about talking about chins.
- 20:36Have a patient of mine, her husband's a plastic surgeon, and she uh was nervous because you know, you always think like chin implant, you know.
- 20:45Immediately.
- 20:46Well, yeah, chin implant.
- 20:47And I and I'm telling you, like there's so many different structural changes that happen as we age, and just restoring that in the right way and respecting, like, you know, we don't want to have any myomodulation.
- 20:59So the the biggest problem with chin filler is if you don't put it in the right layer, you can affect the way the muscle is moving.
- 21:05So, like dynamic-wise, like you'll lose the motion of having like full range of motion, like smiling and and things in that.
- 21:13Like you don't you haven't lost anything.
- 21:14Yeah, you've got to be able to do that.
- 21:15Oh, it was like a year ago we did it.
- 21:16Yeah, yeah.
- 21:17And so putting it in the right plane with the right product and just restoring balance because as you age, your lower third of your face changes drastically.
- 21:28You know, the platisma band is below your neck, right?
- 21:31So the platisma band is a muscle that comes from um the sternomastoid all the way up to the lower portion of your face.
- 21:38It gets stronger as we age.
- 21:40It's one of the muscles that gets stronger.
- 21:42So you're already losing, you know, bone.
- 21:44So you have some bone absorption, you have fat pad loss, you have dynamic changes in muscle movement.
- 21:50So your chin really takes a beating, and you definitely need structural support to kind of give that balance back.
- 21:58So a lot of people don't know that.
- 22:00That they just think, like, okay, like what can you do down here?
- 22:03Yeah, to tighten it.
- 22:05But it's like an overall like looking at, you know, do we need to support fat pads?
- 22:09Do we sub need to support muscles?
- 22:11Do we need to relax the muscles?
- 22:14Which is why a lot of times I'll recommend a lower third tox to give you a better balance as well.
- 22:20Yeah, we've done tox in my chin.
- 22:22That's so fun.
- 22:23So when you put when you put tox in in your chin and then you go to sneeze, it is the funniest feeling ever.
- 22:30Why is that?
- 22:31This is I'm hearing this for the first time.
- 22:33No, like it's never told me this shit.
- 22:35It doesn't because your chin doesn't move, but when you sneeze, your chin wants to move, and it's just like a really funny sensation.
- 22:42Wait, so why don't so why don't you like summer besides all of us out there soaking up the sun, ruining our skin?
- 22:48Okay.
- 22:49So slow business.
- 22:51I'm just gonna say this.
- 22:52Or it's slower, but it's not because of just the slow business.
- 22:56It's I I feel like I'm not educating my patients enough when I'm like, you have to suppress your hyperpigmentated lesions throughout the summer.
- 23:07Yeah.
- 23:08Because just because we cleaned you up and you're like your skin is flawless now, you've already anytime you see coloring or speckling, whether it's melasma, whether it's freckling, whether it's a tan, your body is spitting out damage.
- 23:25It's literally already said, Hey, you already ruined my skin.
- 23:29So what can we do?
- 23:30So the biggest thing for me is how do you supp how do you quiet the melanocytes in your skin?
- 23:35Okay.
- 23:36How do you do it?
- 23:37So we have two options.
- 23:39You know, there's different suppression melon medical grade skincare products.
- 23:43So one of my favorite ones is Bright Alive, right?
- 23:46So that's like a daily thing.
- 23:48It's a daily thing and it it you just put it part of your routine.
- 23:52I'm actually using it right now because I actually get PIH in the summer.
- 23:56So I'll get post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation because I generally break out and have like acne, right?
- 24:02Okay.
- 24:02So it just lingers for me.
- 24:05But what happens is if I've cleaned up your skin and you've got beauty, like for you, you know, I know that you have some pigmented lesions in your skin.
- 24:13If you're not keeping them quiet, they're just gonna react and they're gonna react, they're gonna come back full force.
- 24:18The other, the other thing that we do is we wait.
- 24:21Hydroquinone is a fantastic.
- 24:24I've always wanted to use that.
- 24:25I've never used it.
- 24:26Can you prescribe it?
- 24:28Well, you can, but there's rules and limitations to it.
- 24:32It's something that you can have rebound effects, so you have to be a very, very compliant patient.
- 24:37And literature shows that you shouldn't be using it more than three months, and you have to wean off of it.
- 24:42So it's a very delicate.
- 24:43Oh wow, I didn't know that.
- 24:44Yes, it's good education.
- 24:46But another option is one of my favorite things is doing a VI peel.
- 24:50Yeah, you told me that.
- 24:52So I always thought peels only in the winter, and then you were like, no, you should do it in the summer.
- 24:57Yes, as well.
- 24:58Yes, it's just again, just keeping quiet the melanocytes.
- 25:02I could probably use one.
- 25:03And you know, the thing is like there's different uh ways that we compare the VI peel.
- 25:09Like, you can make it a lighter peel, or you can make it stronger by pairing it with microneedling or IPL, which you've had in the past.
- 25:17We did that in the winter, yeah.
- 25:18I love just even LED therapy.
- 25:20Yeah, you know, light therapy, just controlling the inflammation.
- 25:23Sure.
- 25:24Because on the back end, is you disappear for two months and then you show up to me in the fall, and I'm like look what I did to my face plan of care now, right?
- 25:33And guess what?
- 25:34That$10,000 that you used for IPL, VIPLs, LED therapy facials, it's gonna be all reactivated.
- 25:41Melasma is extremely hard to treat.
- 25:44It's it's a disease of unknown ideology, even though we know it's related to hormones, hormones and all these things.
- 25:50It's just something that just we it's hard to lay that to sleep.
- 25:54So if you have chronic melasma, which so we got this question from a patient.
- 25:58So good.
- 25:59And you so you have chronic melasma and you're not pregnant, you're out out of that.
- 26:05So what's my plan of care?
- 26:06What's my treatment?
- 26:07First line, what do I do?
- 26:09So I will tell you one of my favorite treatments for melasma is actually IPL with the VIPL, which is a laser.
- 26:15It is a laser, and that's what does IPL stand for?
- 26:18Intense pulse light.
- 26:20So there's different types of lasers out there.
- 26:22So you have to go to somebody who knows what they're doing.
- 26:25Oh, for sure.
- 26:26I mean, we're talking about lasers, like heating up your face, heating up your skin, which is actually a trigger for melasma, right?
- 26:32So it uses it.
- 26:33But so when done incorrectly, it could be bad.
- 26:35It could make it worse.
- 26:36Yeah.
- 26:36And so here's the thing you also have to know what like your triggers are.
- 26:40So for some people, it is, you know, you could be triggered by hormones, you could be triggered by stress, you could be triggered by lights, you could be triggered by a bad treatment.
- 26:52When it comes to lasers, there's such a science behind the different wavelengths.
- 26:58Like literally in your skin, you have all these different layers, and we have to set the right like wavelength to attract the different colors.
- 27:10So in the wrong hands, you could make melasma uh melasma worse.
- 27:15But I always am like, okay, let's do a test spot.
- 27:17So for me, it's like let's do a test spot and see what happened.
- 27:20And you know, we'll do something on around your neck or on the side there.
- 27:24And then I'll kind of watch it, right?
- 27:26So, and then one of my favorite things is using medical gray products to again suppress some of that uh color.
- 27:33My my aunt has horrible melasma, and I put her on a great treatment protocol with just exfoliation, daily power defense.
- 27:42Any antioxidants is fantastic for melasma because it's really uh it's the oxidative stress in your skin.
- 27:49Yes.
- 27:50So if you're using antioxidants, it really does help because it controls the free radicals that should cause melasma to get worse.
- 27:57So you have to have to have an antioxidant, and that includes eating great diets with antioxidants in them as well.
- 28:04Yeah, but we have one of my favorite ones is Zio, uh Daily Power Defense.
- 28:08I can't keep that on the shelf.
- 28:10Yeah, that's why David uses, he's obsessed with it.
- 28:12He always says, Where's my sauce?
- 28:13Oh, pairing.
- 28:14Okay, my favorites are like your peptides, right?
- 28:18Your growth factors.
- 28:19Oh, yeah.
- 28:19The Zo Growth Factor Serum is the goat.
- 28:22It's like it's the goat, right?
- 28:23As of recently, I've been using people have been asking me, have I had my neck, my any neck treatments?
- 28:28And I'm like, no, it's literally medical grade products.
- 28:31So my I call it the um the quad squad.
- 28:34I love it.
- 28:35So my quad squad is my ZO peptides that works on the pathways of like muscle contraction.
- 28:42So I'll usually put that first, and then I pair it with firming serum.
- 28:46Oh, yeah.
- 28:46And firming serum is something that I'm gonna tell you just as of the last three months, I've been using it.
- 28:52And Dr.
- 28:53Obaji, who is an international dermatologist, super.
- 28:57He's the one who he has Obaji and then he has CO.
- 28:59Yeah.
- 28:59I've been using Obaji.
- 29:00I to this day I have this like little toner bottle.
- 29:03I have been using it's 2026 10 years at least.
- 29:08Not I mean the same, I'm obsessed with that toner.
- 29:11It's so crazy.
- 29:12He's incredible.
- 29:12He's incredible.
- 29:13You know, one of my favorite things about Dr.
- 29:15Obaiji is that he does ongoing clinical research.
- 29:19Yeah, he's super like crazy to say, hey, actually, we need to do it this way, yeah, right?
- 29:26Which is one of my favorite things.
- 29:27And when I'm talking to a patient, they're like, wait a second, you told me that this goes on first and this goes on second.
- 29:33I said, but we have ongoing research.
- 29:35This is how we learn, right?
- 29:36Yeah, for sure.
- 29:37You have, I mean, you have to adapt.
- 29:38Yeah.
- 29:39I mean, that's the whole name of the game.
- 29:40No, his stuff.
- 29:41They also have again, it's old school, and you only need the tiniest amount.
- 29:45Like one little tub will last me like six months.
- 29:48Obagi has this, you it's a mask you put on in the shower and you leave it on for like 10 minutes.
- 29:52So I do it like when I'm washing my hair or whatever, and it's this really potent vitamin C mask and it tingles, and I'm not sensitive at all.
- 30:00It's so good.
- 30:01And when you take it off, like rinse it off, your face feels like butter.
- 30:05I mean, it is so smooth, it is so nice, very like exfoliating.
- 30:09So, like once a week at most.
- 30:11Have you tried our exfoliating uh it's called a um accelerator?
- 30:15I'm gonna let you try this one.
- 30:16You actually sleep with it on.
- 30:18Oh no, I haven't done that one because David's obsessed too with the little green one.
- 30:22It's like it's a scrub.
- 30:24We have it, we have a big tub of it from uh Caitlin got it for us last time we were there.
- 30:28But it is awesome.
- 30:29We don't sleep with it though.
- 30:30No, I I've gotta let you try this one.
- 30:32Okay.
- 30:32Sometimes I'll sleep with it the next day.
- 30:34Your skin is like butter.
- 30:37But going back to my uh Oh, yeah, Melanch squad.
- 30:39Sorry, quad squad, melancholy, all the things.
- 30:41So uh peptides, firming serum.
- 30:44I was this is what I was saying.
- 30:45I lost my train of thought.
- 30:47Firming serum.
- 30:48If you are out there and you are in your 20s and early 30s, you have to get this firming serum.
- 30:54Dr.
- 30:54Obaji swears that if you start it on your neck, your face, then you're not gonna need a facelift.
- 31:00Oh my god.
- 31:01If only you could talk to my younger self.
- 31:04I literally well, so I started getting into skincare when I was like 27.
- 31:09So not too bad.
- 31:10But before then, I literally was like a vino.
- 31:12I think that was like my thing.
- 31:14I saw a commercial Jennifer Anderson.
- 31:16She was clearly getting paid for it, I'm sure.
- 31:18And I was like, I'll use a vino.
- 31:20And then I'll use olive order.
- 31:21Oh, olive order.
- 31:22Oh, yeah.
- 31:23Do you remember Lopez?
- 31:24Do you remember?
- 31:24Oh my God.
- 31:25It used to be in like Women's Health magazine, and it was like egg whites with turmeric, honey, and olive oil.
- 31:31And you like put it on your face, put it on your hair.
- 31:33I used to rock that all the time.
- 31:36It was like this is going to work.
- 31:38And my skin was horrible.
- 31:39And then I switched to medical grade products, and what do you know?
- 31:42Like everything got better.
- 31:43Yeah.
- 31:44So peptides.
- 31:45Peptides.
- 31:46My firming serum.
- 31:47Okay.
- 31:48And then the next thing, I'll use Bright Alive, which I told you what Bright Alive was.
- 31:53Actually, that's not in the power.
- 31:54And it's a Zoo, it's a ZOO.
- 31:57And I love products that are synergistic.
- 31:59Yeah.
- 32:00I I kind of compare it to, it's like if you have like who who just won the NBA conferences.
- 32:08Is it the Timberwolves?
- 32:09Oh my God, we're gonna get murdered for this.
- 32:11All I know is all I know is Kimmy Antonelli won the Formula One Grand Prix in Montreal.
- 32:19That's my sport knowledge.
- 32:20Oh my god, how do we not know who made it to the NBA finals?
- 32:23I wish David would David would know for sure.
- 32:26No, sorry, don't kill us.
- 32:27Don't kill us.
- 32:28Okay, let's just imagine like it's one of those teams.
- 32:31It's like you know how the players play, and you wouldn't pull like another player to substitute for that.
- 32:37That's like that's how like these products work together.
- 32:40You know that they're synergistically, yeah.
- 32:42You know, they know, you know, and I that's the point, is they work together.
- 32:45They work together.
- 32:46So I use Bright Alive and then also Daily Power Defense with the antioxidants.
- 32:51That's what David loves.
- 32:52That's his favorite.
- 32:53Yeah, love it, and it serves as a moisturizer as well.
- 32:56And my growth factors, so the ZO growth factor, serum is and it smells amazing.
- 33:02So someone told me that, like again, 12 years ago when I started taking my skincare seriously, that anything I put on my face, I should put on my neck.
- 33:09They were like, you know, you need to treat both areas essentially.
- 33:12So to this day, I'm always like yeah, slathering it all on.
- 33:16So a patient of mine came in for a follow-up after sculptor.
- 33:20She looks freaking incredible, but best.
- 33:23She was like, Charia, like my neck, it took forever to heal.
- 33:27Like I had bruises and all of that.
- 33:30So I'm gonna tell you guys that your neck and your face will heal differently.
- 33:35Your neck skin and your face skin is completely different.
- 33:39The annexes of support.
- 33:41I've talked about this many times.
- 33:42I call it this is the highway to heaven because all these vessels and blood supply lands here.
- 33:48So when you're in when I'm treating you and you're bruised here, you're gonna heal quicker.
- 33:52Your neck is not that skin is sensitive.
- 33:55We know it through biopsies.
- 33:56We know that the you know, it's just it takes longer.
- 33:59Longer, it takes longer to regenerate.
- 34:02We're doing any regenerative stuff.
- 34:04Yeah.
- 34:04And you have to, and people are, you know, ask me all the time there's a growth factor for the under eyes, there's a growth factor for the face, there's a growth factor for the neck.
- 34:13Yes, they all are different, they're very specific to the skin.
- 34:17Sure.
- 34:18They're very specific to how we regenerate new skin cells.
- 34:22We know in the face that you can and are capable of repairing the skin every 18 to 25 days.
- 34:28That's what we want.
- 34:30Unfortunately, no matter what we do to the neck, you're not gonna regenerate that quickly.
- 34:34You're probably gonna be at least four to five weeks out before you get full regeneration.
- 34:41Where in the face, we can, there are things that we can do to accelerate that.
- 34:44So you just have to know the process of healing and what that looks like.
- 34:48So we've got the power squad.
- 34:50We know we should do VIPs.
- 34:52So if you're struggling with melasma, how often and how many VIPs?
- 34:56It's gonna be dependent because it depends on the medical history.
- 35:00And I will tell you.
- 35:01Let's say I just have like the upper lip.
- 35:03Which is common.
- 35:04Do you want to know my theory about the upper lip?
- 35:07I think a lot of that comes from people who used to wax.
- 35:10Oh, why do you think that is?
- 35:12Because you're exfoliating that area over and over again.
- 35:15And you're interested.
- 35:16Anything that's stimulating to the skin, we want it to be controlled injury, right?
- 35:20So if you think about it, you're throwing hot wax on there.
- 35:23Yeah, you rip it off.
- 35:24You they mean if you looked at it under a mic microscope, there's definitely skin cells there, right?
- 35:29Yeah, yeah.
- 35:29So then what do you do then?
- 35:31We put retinals and all these things.
- 35:32So another active thing.
- 35:34So you have a you have an ongoing uncontrolled inflammatory response.
- 35:39Your body, as much as it wants to heal, it's been disrupted.
- 35:42That that so would laser hair removal be better?
- 35:45Laser hair removal if you're a good candidate for it.
- 35:48But I think also, and and we know this, so you would probably know this.
- 35:52Um I don't know if you've heard of this, but I've been reading some literature, and I'm not gonna sit here and say I I've been able to do a deep dive, but just generally speaking, I've been reading some research that they think that oral contraceptives are affecting the immune system.
- 36:07Yeah, 100%.
- 36:08Yeah, 100%.
- 36:09And it's so interesting because what is the first thing that they do?
- 36:13I mean, my story is that I didn't have my period.
- 36:16And so they were like, here, take birth control.
- 36:17Birth control pills.
- 36:18When I didn't have a menstruate, I was like, Yeah.
- 36:21You're like, I'm sorry, what?
- 36:23When I think back, I'm like, where was science in this time?
- 36:27I mean, I look at my I look at my patients who are, you know, there's a broad age range of patients that I see from 20s all the way to 70s, and all my I call them my young babies because they're, you know, they're so young.
- 36:41They're all on oral contraceptives.
- 36:43And of course, for whatever reason, I'm not questioning.
- 36:47We do need to look at that, right?
- 36:49Yeah.
- 36:49And I always say, you know, a woman's right to choose her procreation and how she wants to bring life into this world.
- 36:55I'm not demonizing birth control.
- 36:56Like, I'm definitely not.
- 36:58I think there's a context and a need for it.
- 37:01And but, you know, it needs to be just that.
- 37:03There needs to be a clinical indication, it needs to be properly oversought, and we need to be giving counseling for like, okay, this is when we should stop the birth control.
- 37:13And, you know, there's also some accountability when we're using it solely for contraception.
- 37:18Okay, there are other options.
- 37:19You can get an IUD.
- 37:21You can use things like FEXI, which is uh intravaginal, uh kind of like spermicide essentially.
- 37:27Prior to course natural family planning.
- 37:29I mean, there's a lot that goes into it, but for things like dysmenorrhea, menorage, acne, we actually have better agents.
- 37:37We have progesterone, we have even sperolactone, yeah, for sure.
- 37:41There's counseling on skincare products again, going back to like the aveno versus medical grade products.
- 37:47There's education on healthy diet and lifestyle and whatnot that should all be taken into context as well.
- 37:54Um okay, so VIPLs, when do you think yeah, lasers, there's the right indication for something like hydroquinolone?
- 38:03I I think it's very patient-dependent.
- 38:05I will tell you, I've had phenomenal success, but the consent that I make you sign and the information.
- 38:14You're like literally you sign your life away.
- 38:16Yes, because you cannot, you can have a rebound effect.
- 38:19See, I didn't even know that.
- 38:20I mean, obviously, I don't prescribe it because it's not my wheelhouse.
- 38:23I've had patients ask about, and I always say you gotta see a dermatologist.
- 38:27Like, not my thing.
- 38:28Um, but I didn't realize you had a taper off of it.
- 38:30Yeah, I actually um there was a patient of mine that clinically speaking, she would have been a great candidate.
- 38:37But based off of our conversation and even a deeper dive, I didn't think it was the best course of action for her.
- 38:43And she was really upset.
- 38:44If you if you're interested in it, I would and and you really are wanting to do this, I would advise you to first look at the clinical effects when you don't follow instructions because it is really difficult to manage and control.
- 38:57And once, like once I say your color factory system gets out of sync, it's really, really hard to control because when it c it's a systemic thing, right?
- 39:07So it can be triggered by anything.
- 39:09It is stress, it could be triggered by um, you know, inflammatory processes.
- 39:14Anything can trigger looking at like why you're using it.
- 39:17Yeah, yeah.
- 39:18But yeah, color is really hard.
- 39:19Color is hard because I I share with my patients, like if you can clean up color, okay?
- 39:24If a patient's coming in and they have, you know, they're presenting with riotids, deeper or wrinkles, I'm sorry.
- 39:31Uh if they have deeper wrinkles and they have like poor skin and their barriers just like really just beat up and they have discoloration in their skin.
- 39:39If you can clean up the discoloration and get their skin barrier back to health, I'm taking 10 years off their face before I even do anything.
- 39:49Yeah, they look so much better.
- 39:50So good.
- 39:51So good.
- 39:52And sometimes that's all that I need to say to them.
- 39:54So if you're the type of patient that's like, listen, like I get it, you know, the world of injectables, of botox and all that.
- 40:02And I'm like, no, actually, we don't have to do that.
- 40:05Well, let's talk about a healthy, let's get your skin healthy.
- 40:08Because your skin is the largest organ in your body.
- 40:10100%, 100%.
- 40:12And you're wearing it all the time.
- 40:13And I think you're right, it's all about education.
- 40:16I mean, going back to the hydroquinolone.
- 40:19So I have these like two, I don't have any makeup on right now.
- 40:21So these like two red spots over here.
- 40:23And we've done peels, I've done lasers, and I went for my first, because I turned 40 annual skin check, and it happens to be my neighbor who's my dermatologist.
- 40:31I love it.
- 40:32And I actually in the neighborhood.
- 40:34I know.
- 40:34And I asked her, I was like, you know, do you think I actually asked her, I'm like, do you think hydroquinolone would work?
- 40:39And she said kind of said the same thing as you.
- 40:41And she was like, honestly, she's like, that spot right there, she's like, in 10 years, you're gonna have skin cancer.
- 40:47And I was like, What?
- 40:49And I was like, what do I have to do?
- 40:51And that's when she was like, you know, again, educating about the color and the skin integrity.
- 40:56She's like, what we're gonna do now is liquid nitrogen.
- 40:58Like, we actually need to like, it's which is a little chemical to kill off the cells.
- 41:03So I'm supposed to do two rounds of that, and then they want to do a CO2 laser to like ablate it.
- 41:09And the reason it made me nervous is because my mom has had skin cancer on her face four times.
- 41:13So she's had four most procedures, and they are horrible.
- 41:18And it's like broken my heart so many times, and I'm like, oh my god, I don't want to have skin cancer on my face.
- 41:24So I've been lathering the SPF like all over me.
- 41:28Thank you for sharing that because I cannot stress to you the importance of really recognizing the changes, like our atmosphere, our sun is completely different, and now we're being exposed to artificial light.
- 41:40I really thought this was just like a little pink sponge.
- 41:42She was like, No, no, no, those it's like eikeratosis, right?
- 41:45Yeah, she's like, You're gonna have a squamous salad.
- 41:47I was like, What?
- 41:48Yeah, and we tried you know, we and we learn about these basic things.
- 41:52If you had blonde hair, blue eyes, if you had red hair, yeah.
- 41:54I mean, really, and we talked about prevention, right?
- 41:57So we've always talked about prevention and getting in front of things.
- 42:00And if you're listening, the sub look, we're talking about the summertime.
- 42:03Yeah, we're talking about all these things to make sure, you know.
- 42:06When I first opened up Hugh about two and a half years ago, I was asked to be uh on the news and it was very specific though.
- 42:17They wanted me to cover uh skincare and in colored patients.
- 42:21Oh wow, and uh and I was like, this is great because a lot of times, you know, people who have we darker pigmentation to classify skin differently.
- 42:30So people with darker pigmentation actually have a higher um a higher opportunity of not opportunity, they have a higher rate of death because we catch it late, right?
- 42:40Yeah, and so the signs are are there, and I think that with with the summer coming and being out in the sun, the atmosphere changing, we really, really need to talk about making sure that you protect your skin.
- 42:51Absolutely.
- 42:52So, what SPF should people wear?
- 42:55And how do you decide that?
- 42:56So I am a big proponent of reapplying.
- 42:59Yeah, like I don't I don't care.
- 43:02I know it sounds crazy.
- 43:04No, I give it to us.
- 43:06I slap it on every two to three hours, especially if you're on the boat.
- 43:10So there are different types.
- 43:12There's sun block and sunscreen.
- 43:14So you have to make sure that you are blocking the sun rays and not screening.
- 43:20So literally think if you're blocking it, you're blocking it, right?
- 43:23Okay, like blackout shades versus a screen.
- 43:25Yeah, got it.
- 43:26Right.
- 43:26So especially if you're on the on, like I'm getting ready to go to Destin.
- 43:30I'm definitely looking for a sun block instead of a sunscreen.
- 43:34And what about do you like the mineral-based ones or no?
- 43:36They're they serve different purposes, right?
- 43:39And I I like the mineral ones just because it doesn't like I have acne skin.
- 43:43Yeah, it doesn't matter.
- 43:44I like them.
- 43:44They're like a little bit more gentle.
- 43:46They are gentle, but you gotta like think about your needs, what you're doing, you know, what activities that you have.
- 43:53And don't forget, especially men, if you are out there listening to me, I was in, I was in line at Cross.
- 44:00Kroger.
- 44:00Oh gosh.
- 44:01And um it was a shorter guy because I'm short.
- 44:04Okay.
- 44:05But I definitely could recognize that something was going on right at the base of his and I actually told him and I'm sure that poor and I don't mean to throw you guys under the bus, but you are less likely to have your annual skin check.
- 44:19Yeah.
- 44:19Yeah.
- 44:20Which is so terrifying.
- 44:22Yes.
- 44:22And you can die from melanoma.
- 44:24Like it is in the leading cause of death.
- 44:26And and you can like, you know, I if you have a partner, like if you have a partner, check them out.
- 44:32Like, you know, like in the past.
- 44:34Something doesn't look right, right?
- 44:35Have it evaluated.
- 44:36Just have your partner look at your back.
- 44:38You know, make sure you're reapplying and helping each other out.
- 44:40Yeah.
- 44:41They've you mean you can get skin cancer in your toenail.
- 44:43Like a hundred percent.
- 44:45Back of the knee, back of the neck.
- 44:46Back of the knee, and you know, your sacral area, everything.
- 44:50Yeah.
- 44:50Bend your partner over.
- 44:51No, I mean, we again we talk about too much in my marriage, but I'm always like asking David, he gets an executive physical next month, actually, in July, and I'm always like, how thorough is the skin evaluation?
- 45:03Because he is a pale boy.
- 45:05And he's like, Yeah, they do a skin check.
- 45:07I'm like, no, no, no.
- 45:08Like they need to be all up in there.
- 45:09I want everything in your hoochie coochie checked.
- 45:12Like these kids need you to live.
- 45:15Yeah, but because I'm like, I don't want to be like a bro evaluation.
- 45:18Like, oh, you're fine.
- 45:20Yeah.
- 45:20No, I was just like, does David wear a hat in the summer?
- 45:23So I will say he is a psycho about sunscreen.
- 45:28And his biggest thing is he gets um like HSV on his lips if they're on the sun.
- 45:33So he's true.
- 45:34Oh yeah, so he is always psychotic about sunscreen, but he still uses like I'm not gonna name names, but like the old school, very bad for you, like full of endotoxins, endocrine disruptor, like spray sunscreen stuff.
- 45:51And I'm like, no, here's this really, really nice, beautiful mineral-based, like SPF 1000 sunblock I have here for us.
- 46:00And sometimes I even use like the one with Astaxantham where it's like white.
- 46:04He's like, you can see it.
- 46:05I'm like, I don't care.
- 46:06Yeah, like skin cancer does not care.
- 46:08Yes, skin cancer does not care.
- 46:10Because he's like a pale black.
- 46:11We should wear a shirt to promote skin health.
- 46:14Skin cancer does not care.
- 46:16Yeah, does not care.
- 46:17It is terrible.
- 46:18And if you've seen these most procedures, I know I know we want to live our best lives in the summertime.
- 46:24I get it.
- 46:25You want to be outside, and I I am right there with you.
- 46:27I'm always running outside.
- 46:28And that was one thing again, because she's my neighbor, so she sees me running every day, and she's like, Are you pulling your visor down when you drive?
- 46:36Do you have something drive that?
- 46:38I don't leave my house.
- 46:39Okay.
- 46:40Well, if I do, I will.
- 46:42Just another tidbit for you that I I and people are like No, you're right.
- 46:46So I have OCD, so I can't wear hats, and that's been a a big thing because she and I talked about that as well.
- 46:52So I I really lather in the mineral, and what I'll do now, I have packets of it that I can reapply like on my longer runs because I'm probably sweating some of it off.
- 47:01But even this weekend, it was only in the 60s, and I put my OCD and you can't work.
- 47:06I don't like things to touch my head.
- 47:08Yeah.
- 47:08Okay.
- 47:09So it's it's a it's a thing.
- 47:11You've never seen me wear hats.
- 47:12I don't wear hats.
- 47:13Yeah, I didn't think about well, good thing I didn't get you the hats.
- 47:17Oh no, no, no.
- 47:17I don't wear hats.
- 47:18I can barely wear sunglasses.
- 47:21I'm trying to get better because I have so I have terrible eyesight.
- 47:24Like I'm negative 1050, which means if you have 2020 vision, I see at 20 feet what you see at 1,050 feet.
- 47:32Like that's how bad my eyes are.
- 47:33And I was talking to my eye doctor, and he was like, you know, you are at a really high risk of macular degeneration.
- 47:39How are you with wearing sunglasses?
- 47:40And I was like, Well, I have OCD, I don't like things on my face.
- 47:44He was like, And you run a lot?
- 47:46I was like, Oh yeah, I'm outside all the time.
- 47:4810 miles a day.
- 47:49Yeah, and he was like, You have to wear so I got that's why my husband bought me those meta sunglasses.
- 47:55What I do like about them, I will say, one, they're very light, so I can't feel them.
- 47:59Two, it's like a wrap around, so I don't physically feel them.
- 48:02Uh-huh.
- 48:03So I I wear sunglasses every once in a while, and I try to be okay with it, but the whole time I'm like fidgeting.
- 48:10So again, it's this is me just being.
- 48:13No, I'm I never knew that.
- 48:14See, yeah.
- 48:15That's what I was talking about.
- 48:19So, yes, I wish I could wear I definitely could never run in a hat.
- 48:22It would never happen.
- 48:24Like the the feeling of a brim on my head would be hard.
- 48:28Yeah.
- 48:28I remember one time we were in Turks and Caicos, and David wanted to go bone fishing, like on a little boat.
- 48:34And it's one of those we were going out, and the captain was like, Where's your hat?
- 48:38And I was like, I you know, I don't have a hat, I wear hat.
- 48:40He was like, No, no, no.
- 48:40Like, we actually don't let people go if you don't have a hat because the UV rays are so bad because it's coming off the water.
- 48:46Yeah.
- 48:46So they got me one of those like big hats, and I had it like tucked at the back of my head.
- 48:50So the flat, I mean literally look like a veil was like over my head, which I was grateful for because I would have definitely burned to death out there, even though I was like putting my sunblack on and whatnot.
- 49:02So I'm trying.
- 49:03I need to be back in therapy.
- 49:05It's like a clear I was talking to Lindsay about this the other day.
- 49:08Now I want to know, like, does it make it?
- 49:10No, no, no.
- 49:11No, it's like a nervous tick.
- 49:13So with obsessive compulsive disorder, I mean, there are triggers and it's an obsessive thought.
- 49:17So even if it's not a physical feeling, I like perseverate over it.
- 49:21I'll be like, Oh, I have a hat in my head, I have a hat in my head, I have a hat in my head.
- 49:24I know it's crazy.
- 49:25Maybe that's a thing that I have because I always have to wear socks.
- 49:29It's if I don't, I don't feel I feel like and mine is triggered for a nervous tick.
- 49:34I feel it comes from my childhood where I thought that things would grab my feet and if I could just cover my snake, yeah, or like a thing, like a monster.
- 49:43Basically.
- 49:43Oh, interesting.
- 49:44I don't think anything happened.
- 49:46When I was a child, I actually think I wore hats.
- 49:48I mean, for me, when I'm my most productive self, so like when I'm you'll see as we get closer to our event, when I'm like in my productive era, my OCD is way worse.
- 50:00Whereas when I haven't been my most, even though I would say like not my best self.
- 50:05So when like periods of my life when I wasn't doing as well in school, I wasn't performing as well in sports, so I was just kind of like half-assing it, my OCD is much less.
- 50:14So it just I think goes with that personality switch.
- 50:18Which I'm always trying to crush it now.
- 50:20So my OCD is always like bull on.
- 50:22I have a challenge, and maybe you can answer this because we get off here.
- 50:26No.
- 50:26I want to ask you a question because I was reading something where it said that when met when women go through perimenopause and menopause, the divorce rates go up.
- 50:35Oh, I'm sure.
- 50:36100%.
- 50:37We gotta, we gotta look at that.
- 50:38Yeah, so I don't know the stats, but it has to do with the the you know the hormonal changes and you don't have the patience and you're just like give zero fucks at that point, and you're like not dealing with you, yeah, not having sex with you, no more BJs.
- 50:55Like none of that, right?
- 50:56Well, I think there's like the psychosomatic piece.
- 50:58So one, when you, you know, you meet when you're young, you fall in love, you get married, you have the kids, you build the career, kids move out, and then your hormones drop off a cliff.
- 51:10So there's there's progression.
- 51:12One from a from a hormone standpoint, there's a natural declination.
- 51:18So hormones naturally decline as we age.
- 51:20So we have three major reproductive hormones: testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone, talking about females.
- 51:26And progesterone is the first one that takes a deep dive.
- 51:29So what are signs of low progesterone?
- 51:31Anxiety, irritability, mood swings, lack of sleep.
- 51:36If you really want to test someone and test someone's patients and test a marriage, make them sleep deprived.
- 51:42Right?
- 51:43I mean, that's the highest form of torture, is sleep deprivation.
- 51:47Second, testosterone.
- 51:50So lack of libido, lack of drive, lack of lean muscle, brain fog, all these are symptoms of low testosterone.
- 51:58Third is estrogen.
- 51:59That's the one that kind of holds on till the end.
- 52:02And it's always tricky, as we've talked about a lot, like when to introduce hormone therapy, how to do it mindfully, because it's not a one size fits all.
- 52:08But low estrogen, you'll have vaginal dryness, painful sex, hot flashes, night sweats, again, mood swings, all these things.
- 52:17So she feels horrible and also body composition changes.
- 52:21So weight gain during perimenopause is rampant.
- 52:24I mean, 95% of my patients, part of their Christmas wish list with hormone decline or perimenopause is that they've gained weight, especially in their abdomen, hips, thighs, all of that.
- 52:36And again, it's a fine song and dance of how to treat that and how to make them feel better.
- 52:40So not only do they feel horrible, they can't sleep, they're irritable, they're moody, they're sweating all the time, they can have brain fog, then now they've gained weight, they don't feel sexy, so they don't want to jump in bed with you.
- 52:53And then the man perceives that as like she doesn't love me, she's obviously her body's changing.
- 52:59I want someone younger, more attractive, right?
- 53:01And it's just like a vicious cycle in people's marriages, and it's horrible.
- 53:05Yeah.
- 53:06So probably some truth to that.
- 53:08It's horrible, definitely some truth.
- 53:09And so if if if men are out there listening, listen, we need we need you to be the partners that we know you're capable of being.
- 53:17Yeah, no, it's a good conversation.
- 53:19So the last thing I'll say when we were in Montreal, we met these like a couple guys who were on the guys trip, and they were all met each other at Stanford Business School, so they had the nerdy thing in common with David.
- 53:30So a bunch of nerds out there just trying to live their best life.
- 53:34Yeah.
- 53:34And they were just a bunch of nerds.
- 53:36Nerd alert, you know, at a Formula One race.
- 53:38It was just like silliness.
- 53:40And we were talking, and they were talking kind of like struggles in their marriage and asking me my advice.
- 53:45And what I said to them was one is recognizing that it's not in her control.
- 53:51Not that like that gives her a pass for everything, right?
- 53:55But two, I mean, you're all you're all here at the Formula One race, you all make money.
- 54:00I was like, have you given her the tools to help herself?
- 54:04And they're like, Well, what do you mean?
- 54:05I'm like, do you tell her, hey, you should I I'm help I would whatever the money is, however it's gonna cost, I want you to see someone to help improve your hormones or to help evaluate your hormones, help treat you.
- 54:17And if she comes back and she's like, it's gonna cost ten thousand dollars, I'm gonna be on a GOP one, I'm gonna be a hormone therapy, I'm gonna get some Botox, but your only answer should say, of course, because I support you and I love you.
- 54:30At the end of all of that, if she feels better, feels like herself again, but you still don't love each other, then it is what it is.
- 54:37But don't blame her and not give her resources to improve her life.
- 54:42Yeah.
- 54:43Do you know what I mean?
- 54:43All you can do is support her.
- 54:45Yeah, and then you guys make a decision together.
- 54:48And it was kind of heavy to end with.
- 54:50Tell us a joke.
- 54:51Something funny that's happened recently.
- 54:53Your lips look really good.
- 54:54Did you get them done recently?
- 54:55No, I've been using Caitlin like gives me all these like ideas for lip plumpers, and my niece is 18.
- 55:02They love all these different lip glosses.
- 55:04I will also I'll end with this because it someone asked me.
- 55:06So I don't have any lipstick on.
- 55:08If you're watching on video, does Kiss have like some pigment in the filler?
- 55:13Because I lips look pinker.
- 55:15Yes, like they always look like they have lip stain on and they don't have anything.
- 55:19They look great, and no, you can't get any more.
- 55:21Yes, I will.
- 55:22In September.
- 55:24I know my six-month mark with Charia for listeners.
- 55:27I can have lip filler in September and February.
- 55:29So those two months, I look snatched, and then the rest of the year I just wait for it to be like a six-month mark again when she lets me come back for more.
- 55:39I was even thinking, I was like, I wonder if she'll let me come in in August.
- 55:42Like if I could trick her and be like, it's been six months, even though it's like obviously in record.
- 55:47Your lips look fine.
- 55:49And I do, yes, if we're you all out there, I will say no to you when it's not appropriate.
- 55:53But we also get in physical fights when we well, this was a good Monday.
- 55:57I'm very good Monday.
- 55:59So happy.
- 55:59I feel better afterwards.
- 56:01After.
- 56:02So we are going to the next time we talk, we're gonna go over this party and see if we can find a tarot card reading.
- 56:09If you know anybody out there, please hit me up.
- 56:11If you know a tarot card reader, they're in the Cincinnati, northern Kentucky area.
