- 0:28Hey everybody, Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31Today I want to talk to you about judging yourself, and I
- 0:35know it it it's it's a human thing.
- 0:37Let me just be very clear about it.
- 0:38We all judge ourselves. And it actually isn't a bad tool
- 0:41to have in your tool belt because again, it stops you.
- 0:45I've said this before, but it stops you from doing stupid
- 0:48things when used the right way. But it's also detrimental to
- 0:53your well-being when it's overused.
- 0:55It's kind of like salt. If you put too much salt on
- 0:58something and you get so used to eating salt, before you know it,
- 1:01you have hypertension and high blood pressure and all kinds of
- 1:05problems, and you have to eliminate salt from your diet.
- 1:07And you're like, I don't want to eliminate salt.
- 1:10Salt. So great.
- 1:11Well, if you used it in the right amounts in the beginning,
- 1:13it would be great. But you didn't.
- 1:14You overused it, and therefore you took it out of your realm of
- 1:17possibility. And it's kind of like judgment.
- 1:21We spend so much time. Beating ourselves up and judging
- 1:26ourselves. And nine times out of 10, our
- 1:29judgments are inaccurate because they're jaded.
- 1:33They're we keep them to ourselves because we spend so
- 1:35much time in our heads talking to ourselves and unresourcefully
- 1:40So we we have skewed views of things.
- 1:44And unless you. Kind of expand your views.
- 1:49Those skewed views have a huge effect on how you see things.
- 1:52It's kind of like if you've ever heard the phrase you know you're
- 1:56you're never really completely well-rounded until you travel.
- 2:01And I absolutely agree that travel has a huge impact on your
- 2:07view of the world. When you take the time to go and
- 2:10do some traveling, it doesn't even mean that you have to
- 2:11travel. Far, but just getting out of
- 2:14your own bubble and seeing things differently.
- 2:17There is a tremendous impact on being able to get out and see
- 2:23how other people live, what they experience, what their days are
- 2:26like and it shifts how you view the world so.
- 2:31Think of it that way. In your head.
- 2:32If you don't get out of your head and see how other people
- 2:35are doing it, or engage in other ideas, which is why learning is
- 2:39so important. Even if you can't physically
- 2:41travel to change your points of views, books are your best
- 2:46friends with this because you hear other people's perspectives
- 2:49and then you have another way to see the world.
- 2:52So for instance. One of my very first endeavors
- 2:56into this was my, you know, going and listening to Tony
- 3:00Robbins my very first time because I was a participant at
- 3:03all of his events before I ever worked for him.
- 3:06And when I went to my very first event and I sat there and
- 3:09listened, it was a business event.
- 3:11It was one day event in Boston. And I was so enamored with his
- 3:16points of view of how to see sales in a different way I
- 3:21couldn't imagine. How I had been seeing it and how
- 3:25I felt about it. And then I went and compared it
- 3:29to, you know, his. What I how I was seeing it
- 3:32compared to his. And no wonder I was not doing
- 3:35well in it. No wonder I was, you know,
- 3:38failing every day because of my points of view.
- 3:41And when you know you change your perspective, everything
- 3:44changes. And once I learned that, I could
- 3:49keep diving in and changing this over and over and over.
- 3:53Boy, I will tell you that key distinction shifted my life.
- 3:58It's like you just have to keep on going and keep looking for
- 4:03different things and stop judging yourself about where you
- 4:07are because it's not going to help you get to where you want
- 4:11to go, if that makes sense. We spend so much time wrapped up
- 4:17in that bubble of ourselves that we don't get the chance to
- 4:20expand and. Say okay.
- 4:23Well, is this, is this the only way that I should be seeing
- 4:27this? Because this feels really harsh
- 4:28and I'm judging myself and that results in many toxic things in
- 4:34our lives. It's part of the reason why,
- 4:37where we see so many people taking antidepressants, it's
- 4:40part of the reason why we see so many suicides.
- 4:43It's part of the reason why there's so much alcoholism and
- 4:47drug abuse in this country, because we are constantly.
- 4:50Judging ourselves. And it's not just this country.
- 4:52I say that I realize I have people from all over the world
- 4:54listening and I it's everywhere. And it's not just here, but it
- 4:58is. There is a lot of it that is
- 5:00here. And I think that if we could
- 5:04find a way to be kinder to ourselves and take in a little
- 5:09bit of grace into these things that we tell ourselves, we would
- 5:15be profoundly better off. And that grace begins with that
- 5:20knowledge of saying, am I being too hard on myself?
- 5:23And what's another way that I could think of this?
- 5:26What's another way that I could view this?
- 5:29And I will encourage you completely, encourage you all
- 5:33the time to read audibles, do whatever you need to do, but
- 5:38taking information and taking ideas from other people.
- 5:42It's part of the reason why I wanted to do this podcast.
- 5:45Because I want to reach as many people to to give other
- 5:48perspectives. Because that's what helps.
- 5:52How create happiness inside of us when we have the opportunity
- 5:56and the perspectives to see things differently.
- 5:59All of a sudden the judgment doesn't have such a hold and it
- 6:02also doesn't have such horrific outcomes in our lives.
- 6:06So please, stop. Pause.
- 6:09Give yourself a break judging yourself.
- 6:12While it has its benefits in some areas, too much of it is
- 6:16like salt. And please do not overuse it.
- 6:18And remember, the more perspectives you have, the less
- 6:21power the judgment has. So keep pouring into yourself in
- 6:25different ways and I promise you, you can break the cycle of
- 6:29this and change how you give yourself a break.
- 6:33Change how you see yourself and change your days.
- 6:36All right, my friends, I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:38Bye.
