Boundary Waters permits are getting a major overhaul to tackle rampant cancellations—up to 40% of last year’s reservations went unused. Starting as early as January 2025, a new refund policy will kick in: 50% refund if you cancel 28+ days out, 25% if you cancel 28–3 days before, and no refund if you bail within 2 days. The goal? Get those coveted spots into the hands of folks who’ll actually show up.
