- 0:00Speaker 1: Gas control, everybody.
- 0:01Speaker 1: Just do your job.
- 0:03Speaker 2: You understand that, man.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Everybody did their job.
- 0:06Speaker 2: On FSU's defense, goodness gracious, 66 to 13.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Billy Wiles and the Southern Miss Golden Eagle offense could not get anything going.
- 0:15Speaker 2: 11 of 34.
- 0:17Speaker 2: No touchdowns in a pick.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Frank Jordan, frank Gore Jr looked frustrated.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Only 11 carries for 31 yards.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Florida State dominant 66 to 13.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I'm sure there's things that they could clean up to.
- 0:32Speaker 2: We're going to talk to Jimmy Reno all about the game.
- 0:35Speaker 2: We also got a reaction from Miami contributor Justin, as they were able to defeat Jimbo and he's excited.
- 0:46Speaker 2: He probably thinks Miami's back to.
- 0:48Speaker 2: We're going to talk to Al who's at the FAMU USF game, famu camp coming up short.
- 0:54Speaker 2: They kicked themselves in the foot.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Five turnovers.
- 0:58Speaker 2: They were still in the game all the way to the end.
- 1:01Speaker 2: But we'll talk to Al about that game.
- 1:04Speaker 2: A lot to get to.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Let's get it started.
- 1:09Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Big time win for the Seminole 66 to 13 with the big cover.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So the old days.
- 1:48Speaker 2: It got Jim Reno on the line.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yes, sir, what's going on?
- 1:53Speaker 2: Man, I know you enjoyed watching this one.
- 1:56Speaker 3: I did, man, I did.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I'm be honest with you.
- 1:59Speaker 3: It could have been a lot worse had they been able to catch the ball in the first half.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Right, right, yeah, but it was.
- 2:07Speaker 3: It was dominating man.
- 2:09Speaker 2: It really was.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, big win, big win.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Defense showed out.
- 2:14Speaker 2: They did, they did show out.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I mean Billy, billy Wilds, a quarterback for Southern Miss.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Final numbers 11 of 34 154 yards.
- 2:23Speaker 2: No touchdowns in a pick Pick six, which was six yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 2: And and Frank Gore Jr was held.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Only 11 carries, 31 yards.
- 2:33Speaker 3: So visibly frustrated.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, the whole night man.
- 2:38Speaker 3: They did a really really good job bottling him up pretty much every possession.
- 2:43Speaker 3: I mean, he broke free a couple of times but yeah, they, they, uh, I was really impressed, man.
- 2:49Speaker 2: It really was, because you could see it and after the first quarters, like 14 and nothing, and it felt like FSU was playing bad almost.
- 2:57Speaker 2: And but the floor has definitely been risen.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, without question.
- 3:04Speaker 3: I mean it was, it was sloppy playing the first half, I think you know I don't want to call it hero ball, but I think the player you know Jordan Travis, receivers, especially the offense, they knew going into it.
- 3:18Speaker 3: You know we can, we can pretty much do what we want against these guys.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I think some of those shots early, some of those downfield home run shots, you know guys were, guys were wide open underneath right Middle of the field.
- 3:31Speaker 3: You know, I think Jordan Travis was just, you know we're going to go up, we're going to get my, my big guns, I'm going to get them some touchdowns early and we're going to kind of, you know, sit them the next half out.
- 3:43Speaker 3: But again, you know, johnny Wilson makes a couple of those catches.
- 3:46Speaker 3: You know if Keon can, keon Coleman makes that catch in the end zone, you know it's zero catches.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Not Johnny Wilson.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Yeah, he had a rough night man, he had a rough night.
- 3:54Speaker 3: I will say I only think one of those was what you call kind of like a, a gimme catch.
- 4:00Speaker 3: The other, the other three, man, they were, they were tough catches.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Yeah, they are, but he's made those in the past and I think that was, yeah, just a rough night.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I don't think he you know, I think they just sat him down just to kind of.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Of course you don't get more guys in a game and you get especially on
- 4:18Speaker 4: the receiver.
- 4:20Speaker 2: You had a.
- 4:20Speaker 2: You had a lot of guys.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Darian Williamson caught a touchdown that first one.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah, on the open, on the opening drive, and you saw a lot of a lot of those, those reserve receivers, you know, do span was in there a lot, mm.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Hmm, they definitely, you know, had this one earmark to get everybody in the game.
- 4:36Speaker 3: But it, man, I'm impressed with that wide receiver depth.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it really is.
- 4:41Speaker 2: And then you could see again the talent of Keon Coleman just put on display.
- 4:46Speaker 2: I know he only had three catches and 48 yards, but man yeah, that's all.
- 4:51Speaker 3: He's a freak man, yeah.
- 4:53Speaker 2: And then that one on the sideline just hurtled over the Southern Miss defender and then got in the end zone on the next play.
- 5:01Speaker 2: It brings another dimension to this offense.
- 5:05Speaker 3: He really does.
- 5:06Speaker 3: He really does, I mean the top end speed.
- 5:08Speaker 3: It's probably not like a Tamarion Terry or, you know, crow Thorpe, somebody who's going to, just, you know, blow the wheels off, but I mean it's fast enough to run away from just about anybody.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Yeah, look at size and Joe.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yeah, and that, that kind of athletic ability man.
- 5:21Speaker 3: But he hurtled the guy to play before that and it got called back and the very next play he does that and nearly scores on that play and then scores on the very next play.
- 5:34Speaker 3: He is man, he's a freak out there wide receiver and they did a really nice job, southern Miss, of putting kind of having a safety spy over him.
- 5:45Speaker 3: That's why you saw Johnny Wilson kind of open up so much there in the first half Three to one.
- 5:52Speaker 3: I just you know it was just a rough night for him.
- 5:54Speaker 3: It does I mean win 66 to 13.
- 5:58Speaker 2: But if you look at Jordan's Travis, jordan Travis numbers 15 to 29.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of drops, a lot of drops 175 yards and a couple of scores.
- 6:07Speaker 2: No picks, though.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Yeah, no picks, I did.
- 6:10Speaker 3: It did a lot with his legs to kind of keep plays alive.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you know.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Like I said, man, I think there were some throws underneath that probably would have improved his stats on some of those home run shots.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, but it whatever, man.
- 6:24Speaker 3: It's like you play an entire half Probably.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I'd give it like maybe a C, c minus for the offense Right, and you still.
- 6:33Speaker 3: What were we at 31 to 3?
- 6:35Speaker 2: 31, 3 and a half.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yeah, the way they came out in the second half they really just put the pedal to the metal.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yeah Well, you kind of felt like, at any point they could dedicate, you know, to the power run game and get all those running backs, Because I'm going to tell you what all those running backs look good man.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Like.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Isaiah Holmes he's got some burst.
- 6:53Speaker 2: He does Four rushes for 63 yards in a touchdown.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Yeah, that touchdown run.
- 6:58Speaker 3: I mean you saw, I know it's Southern Miss and they're beat down and it's.
- 7:02Speaker 3: You know it's late in the game, but you saw why he was a definite take for them in the transfer portal.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, man, it was impressive.
- 7:12Speaker 3: You know we're.
- 7:13Speaker 3: When you're talking about a game that they get back from last weekend, they get back into town and about Monday three o'clock in the morning, short turnaround.
- 7:22Speaker 3: You know that very clearly they're not firing on all cylinders on offense Defense looked great.
- 7:28Speaker 3: They pretty much the entire game.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yeah, they did.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Well, they got a lot of guys in to play, though they got some guys experienced Akeem Williams you could see him out there.
- 7:37Speaker 2: You got to catch.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I'll tell you what about.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Akeem Williams blocks his ass off.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I love seeing that.
- 7:44Speaker 2: That's where I saw him on the field was downfield blocking.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 3: They're just really good to see out of a true freshman.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Yeah, it is.
- 7:53Speaker 3: It shows that he's buying into that.
- 7:54Speaker 3: That's unselfish mindset.
- 7:56Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, man, I give the overall performance probably maybe a B minus C, plus, you know, on all four quarters.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I mean just offensively defense.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Defense played sound.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you'd like to see him maybe finish a couple of those those hurries as sacks, maybe you know, but I mean again you just nitpicking there, right, they put the pressure on them all night.
- 8:21Speaker 3: That dude, I like, like you said about the floor, when this is a game that you're clearly not at your best and you get a 66 to 13 win and it's not just some, you know, it's Southern Miss, I mean.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I know they're not Coach Will Hall, though you could see it.
- 8:36Speaker 2: He knew he was facing a juggernaut.
- 8:38Speaker 2: He was throwing everything he had in the first half just to keep it.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that the depth of the defensive front is what overwhelmed them the most.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, and it's.
- 8:50Speaker 3: You know that's been a work in progress for Florida State.
- 8:52Speaker 3: You know they've had to kind of build slowly at that, but it, man, I think they had Jackson there.
- 8:59Speaker 3: It looks exciting it really, yeah, yeah, jackson, there on the sidelines, you'd love to?
- 9:03Speaker 3: I mean, dude, even some of the walk-ons are just massive human beings, so it's.
- 9:09Speaker 2: It's a good feeling.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Fsu 66 to 13 over Southern Miss.
- 9:13Speaker 2: It was not in doubt.
- 9:14Speaker 2: We did get to see some.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Some guys who haven't played much get in the game.
- 9:19Speaker 3: The quarterback situation you saw tape roadmaker they can't, can't ask for much better man Out of, out of the number two guy three for three for two touchdowns.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 3: And and and you know.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Looks to run the offense.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Looks like he's operating the offense.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Yeah, without question.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Man Brock Lynn looked like he had some wheels.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Yeah, brock Lynn got into the game and AJ Duffy got in the game.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Yeah, all four QBs.
- 9:44Speaker 3: That answers the question, though in the order of which they yeah, I mean it.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and you know that will.
- 9:51Speaker 3: That'll probably, that'll work itself out in the postseason.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:57Speaker 3: But man, just to see everybody get involved.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Nice to see it means everyone.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Yeah, you have so many guys with carries, so many guys with receptions, some you have film, now you can have stuff.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Those young, young secondary guys.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Conrad Hussie, I still think he had that interception.
- 10:14Speaker 3: I don't know, they didn't even review it.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I think it was a pick.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, edmund Joseph.
- 10:19Speaker 3: You know he got a lot of playing time.
- 10:21Speaker 3: He got beat a couple of times and made a couple really nice plays with the ball in the air, just getting his head around, kind of instinctually it was just nice to see.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:30Speaker 3: I mean it.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Yeah, man, it was a good game, man, A good game Like you know.
- 10:34Speaker 3: The performance.
- 10:34Speaker 3: It could have been cleaner, but nobody really got banged up outside of a keen dent.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Hopefully that's not.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah, the effort was there and they took care of business and we'll see they have the ACC opener on the road in Boston.
- 10:50Speaker 2: We'll talk to you later in the week and we'll have to get another chance to watch this game and we'll preview the Boston.
- 10:58Speaker 2: College game too.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Oh, for sure, For sure man.
- 11:01Speaker 2: All right, man, we'll talk to you next time.
- 11:03Speaker 3: All right.
- 11:08Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Thanks, jimmy Reno.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Well, famu had 10 straight wins.
- 11:15Speaker 2: We're in Tampa to take on the South Florida Bulls.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Albert was at the game.
- 11:24Speaker 2: We're going to talk to him all about it coming right up.
- 11:28Speaker 2: All right, we're with Famu contributor snake, big contributor Albert Nims, who was at the Famu USF game last night.
- 11:46Speaker 2: The street Good morning everybody.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Good morning, the sun is shining here in Tampa.
- 11:53Speaker 1: I'm on my way out of here.
- 11:55Speaker 1: We played the USF Bulls last night.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Want to thank every wrestler for coming out and making the drive to Tampa.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Want to thank all the Bulls that came up because they were extremely hospitable.
- 12:04Speaker 1: They were extremely disappointed we didn't bring the band because they made a couple of jokes for the ass.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Hey, it's a band coming like no, not this time.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Okay, well, I'm a hand on out.
- 12:12Speaker 1: So but I didn't think.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I think they were underestimating the football team.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Yeah, thinking the band is much better right now, but they were in for a treat last night.
- 12:24Speaker 1: We did jump out seven zero on the bulls.
- 12:26Speaker 1: We look really, really good.
- 12:28Speaker 1: But we had five turnovers for the game, three in the first quarter, oh my goodness.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Two interceptions and a fumble.
- 12:35Speaker 1: We had two interceptions and three fumbles.
- 12:38Speaker 1: We didn't carry the ball well at all.
- 12:40Speaker 1: We carried the ball kind of loosely, trying to make cuts and stuff like that in the inside, trying to, you know, trying to gain extra.
- 12:48Speaker 1: A lot of times it's better to fall down.
- 12:49Speaker 1: But I was very happy to find a score was 38 to 24.
- 12:55Speaker 1: South Florida had a late score, so that kind of made it a lot of sadness.
- 13:00Speaker 1: It kind of made it a lot of sadness with the 38.
- 13:02Speaker 1: But if we could do it all over again, if they would line up again today, I will pick the rattles or the bulls because they outgained them.
- 13:09Speaker 2: They outgained them, but three, three, three interceptions for Moussa, and then Marcus Riley coughed it up twice.
- 13:16Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 13:18Speaker 1: And then one of them was a keep return, a keep up, yeah, and it was.
- 13:23Speaker 1: And every time we turned the ball over we gave them great field position, we gave them the ball on the short side of the field so they didn't have to work that hard but actually did, because it took them the goal 17 yards for one touchdown.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I want to say it took them about nine plays.
- 13:38Speaker 1: So the defense really stepped up.
- 13:40Speaker 1: They had the defense on roller skates a little bit with the up tempo at first, because with that up tempo offense it's hard.
- 13:46Speaker 1: It's hard to get your personnel changed in and out.
- 13:48Speaker 1: So we got a lot of penalties.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:50Speaker 2: But, you leave yourself to twelve, because twelve penalties in total for 115 yards.
- 13:54Speaker 2: You combine that with five turnovers.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Turnovers, you ain't winning.
- 13:58Speaker 1: And listen, listen, you ain't.
- 14:00Speaker 1: You ain't going to beat radio and little men take them.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Well, you're not going to go on the road to an FCS opponent and make it upset, Exactly.
- 14:07Speaker 2: And yeah, what's frustrating is you could have Fam.
- 14:12Speaker 2: You easily could have won this game.
- 14:14Speaker 2: They clean up some things we got to get back to the game Got to get back to the drawing board.
- 14:17Speaker 2: The.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so we're going to get.
- 14:22Speaker 1: We're going to get home this this Saturday.
- 14:25Speaker 1: We are in Hall of Famer Key and Riley.
- 14:29Speaker 2: All right.
- 14:29Speaker 1: They do in Riley.
- 14:30Speaker 1: We debuted in Riley football field and we debuted in a beautiful new scoreboard and we're looking to continue the second longest home winning streak in the nation.
- 14:40Speaker 2: There you go.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so that's FBS and CS football.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Back time baby.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's time, because I predicted us to beat South Florida or at least give them a good run, and I was correct on that.
- 14:53Speaker 1: But I do see South Florida's being our only loss.
- 14:57Speaker 1: It's you, because the routers look really I can't say they look really good last night because they had five turnovers.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:06Speaker 1: But you can take the five turnovers away.
- 15:07Speaker 2: You can see the potential.
- 15:08Speaker 2: You just got to clean things up.
- 15:10Speaker 2: You can see it.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah you can see it, because it used to be a time you can't turn the ball over.
- 15:13Speaker 2: three times in the first quarter, four times in the first half.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Right, it's just tough to win against the team that has Right, because it used to be a time yeah.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it used to be a time pregame.
- 15:23Speaker 1: You know, I was walking around on the field on pregame comparing the size of our play to South Florida players.
- 15:28Speaker 1: We were naked naked.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I remember it was a time they would look like monsters against a Pee Wee football team.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Times have changed and I want to thank Coach Simms in the whole recruiting team for bringing in great recruits.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Coach Respritz I spoke with him last night.
- 15:41Speaker 1: He actually was in the same hotel I was in, so he came down here.
- 15:45Speaker 1: He's been down here since Wednesday working the recruiting scene and he didn't leave until.
- 15:49Speaker 1: He's not leaving until today.
- 15:50Speaker 1: So shout out to Coach Respritz, shout out to Coach Carter, who came over from Alabama this year, who's the passing coordinator, and he's really been doing a really good job.
- 15:59Speaker 1: He just made some bad throws but he admitted his flaws and we just going to go from there.
- 16:07Speaker 1: We going to lick our wounds, yeah.
- 16:09Speaker 2: With all that, with all those turnovers, famy still had a shot, they were Still had a shot Within a score and then, right there at the end, they weren't able to get the stop on the last play.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah, right now, at the end we had some big they had some big third down conversions.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Well, we just got real lazy and latched what I coverage.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I was surprised.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I was still happy with the defense.
- 16:31Speaker 1: This is the fastest defense I've seen.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Famy might be able to.
- 16:37Speaker 4: I'm going to just be honest with you.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Okay, I'm going to just be honest with you.
- 16:39Speaker 2: This might be the best defense in the team I've seen.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Well, I'd like to be excited about, not to be excited about.
- 16:44Speaker 1: We're talking to Definitely say defense, win championships.
- 16:45Speaker 2: That's right.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Well, we'll see how Famy responds.
- 16:48Speaker 2: A new streak to start.
- 16:49Speaker 2: It's still the home streak at Bragg and we'll find out how they respond to this.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Yep, and I think we're going to come out swinging.
- 16:59Speaker 1: We've got a good team coming in.
- 17:01Speaker 1: We've got West Florida coming in on Saturday, so we don't want to look over them because they won a national championship maybe two to three years ago.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:09Speaker 1: So they're not a pushover now.
- 17:10Speaker 1: So you know, just like Coach Simons said, we're playing the biggest game we ever played this Saturday because it's the next game and I love that quote that he said he's got a 24-hour rule.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I know he's got the 24-hour rule.
- 17:23Speaker 1: He got a 25-hour rule to wrap us back in practice today at 7.
- 17:26Speaker 1: He does a 24-hour rule.
- 17:29Speaker 1: He does the game with a 7.
- 17:30Speaker 1: So the 7 and a 7.
- 17:31Speaker 1: So I think the spirit is going to be up.
- 17:32Speaker 1: They were kind of disappointed to let down last night some of the players, but, like I said, you can't win anything with five turnovers.
- 17:38Speaker 1: We kind of beat ourselves.
- 17:40Speaker 1: But hey, south Florida couldn't beat us, so we decided to beat ourselves.
- 17:44Speaker 1: So that was the end result of it.
- 17:47Speaker 1: But okay, all right.
- 17:49Speaker 2: So I'm heading back to Georgia right now, because you got the founders of the.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Panthers.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Yes, sir, I appreciate you having me y'all and listen y'all.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Stay tuned to the North Florida Sports Network.
- 18:01Speaker 2: We'll talk to you later in the week.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Looking forward to Miami's home opener, let's do it Not.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Miami, I'm sorry, famu's home opener.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think the Hurricanes.
- 18:10Speaker 1: How does Miami do it?
- 18:10Speaker 1: I did it well last night.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Miami won, man Miami won.
- 18:13Speaker 2: We're going to talk to Justin about that oh and listen.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to talk about this prediction that I said with DL Sins with Tim Williams.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I know.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Okay, I know.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah Well, dude, I don't even know.
- 18:27Speaker 1: We'll get there it's.
- 18:30Speaker 2: it, dude is three and a half was the overrun on the season.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Man, that feels like stealing.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Listen, I'm, listen, I'm telling you not Colorado going to be in the Rose Bowl.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness, All right.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Well, we'll talk to you later this week.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Man, you drive safe, all right.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Okay man All right man the things that have in it.
- 18:45Speaker 2: All right, brother, all right.
- 18:47Speaker 2: The Rose Bowl, oh my goodness, definitely over three and a half.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Thank you, ow, and drive safe back.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Tough game for fam you.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I know coach Simmons is thinking that he let that one slip away.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Three interceptions for Moussa, two fumbles for Riley.
- 19:20Speaker 2: It's tough to win, but the talent is there.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I don't.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I don't think MUs had more talent than they do right now, but we'll see how they respond.
- 19:35Speaker 2: All right, it's that time of the show.
- 19:39Speaker 2: We're going to bring in Miami contributor Justin, and we talked to him right after Miami defeated Jimbo and the Aggies, so we'll get that reaction.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure Jimbo is wondering what the hell just happened.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Oh, you know what happens, what happened?
- 20:13Speaker 3: What happened.
- 20:16Speaker 2: The you.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Did the you have, that's right.
- 20:23Speaker 4: Miami has.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Miami got the big win.
- 20:27Speaker 2: We're talking to Justin right after that big win 48, 33 is the final.
- 20:32Speaker 2: How does it feel, man?
- 20:37Speaker 4: It feels fantastic.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Were you nervous when it was 10?
- 20:40Speaker 2: Nothing.
- 20:41Speaker 2: What makes the same in?
- 20:44Speaker 4: Um well, actually what I was doing when it was 10 to nothing was I was yelling and screaming at the TV.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Yeah, but when it was 10-0, and then when it was 17-7 or whatever, it was all because of a must punt and a blocked punt.
- 21:02Speaker 2: That's true.
- 21:02Speaker 2: That's true.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Miami was ready to play.
- 21:05Speaker 2: It looked like last year's game a little bit.
- 21:08Speaker 2: They were kicking themselves in the foot.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Yes, it did, and they were giving in the ball.
- 21:14Speaker 2: but you could see it, they were moving the ball consistently there in the second quarter and they continued that.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Tyler Van Dyke TVD finished 21-30, 374 yards, five touchdowns.
- 21:31Speaker 4: Count them.
- 21:33Speaker 2: And zero interceptions.
- 21:36Speaker 4: And actually the biggest thing, what decided this game?
- 21:43Speaker 4: We talked about it on the last podcast and we talked about it tonight while we were watching the game together.
- 21:53Speaker 4: The Miami offensive line.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks good, looks better, it looks a little too good, I'm not going to lie, I didn't like to see Miami.
- 22:03Speaker 2: It looked that good.
- 22:04Speaker 2: I liked it in the beginning, but it looks like they look better in the week one and I hope that Kitchens is okay.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I know that he was.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Oh, no, that was heartbreaking.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I know he was hurt and we'll have to watch out for that, but overall you have to be happy if you're a Miami hurricane fan.
- 22:30Speaker 4: I'm ecstatic.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:32Speaker 4: I'm ecstatic.
- 22:32Speaker 4: What is it?
- 22:35Speaker 2: I know I asked you before the game what fires you up most, and it was the offensive line.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Is that the same answer you have after watching this game?
- 22:43Speaker 4: Yes, it is.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, you saw a dude.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Tvd could have baked a goddamn cake behind that offensive line when he was brought back in the pocket and his mom, how you know, found out.
- 22:56Speaker 2: His mom gave labor in court and stayed in trial while she was in labor.
- 23:05Speaker 2: That's pretty dope.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Yeah, you gotta love those stories.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it looks like.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I could tell he's Van Dyme.
- 23:14Speaker 2: She was wearing the Jersey Van Dyme.
- 23:18Speaker 4: I know I used to call him Ty.
- 23:19Speaker 2: I don't like it though I'm not gonna lie, I didn't like it as a Florida State fan.
- 23:24Speaker 2: But you know, we call it like it is here at the Northern Florida Sports Network.
- 23:30Speaker 4: We don't you didn't like it as a Florida State fan, because my item looks really goddamn good.
- 23:35Speaker 2: They did, they did, they were kicking themselves in the foot.
- 23:38Speaker 2: And what I texted?
- 23:39Speaker 3: you?
- 23:39Speaker 3: I said what did I text?
- 23:41Speaker 3: You?
- 23:41Speaker 3: I said they cleaned it up.
- 23:42Speaker 2: What did I say?
- 23:43Speaker 2: What did I say when it was 17, seven?
- 23:45Speaker 2: I said clean it up, you're fine.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Yes, that's exactly what you said.
- 23:50Speaker 2: That's what they.
- 23:51Speaker 2: That's what they did.
- 23:52Speaker 2: I could tell right away that Miami was gonna win that game.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Jimbo, Jimbo.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Oh by the way, first loss ever Watching the Appalachian State game.
- 24:06Speaker 2: The first loss ever.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Oh wait, you're watching Appalachian State game.
- 24:08Speaker 2: What you got?
- 24:10Speaker 4: Yeah, App State in overtime just scored in touchdown against North Carolina.
- 24:14Speaker 4: They're up 30-47s.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, 34-27.
- 24:19Speaker 4: That would be a hell of a freaking touchdown.
- 24:22Speaker 2: It'd be like a new rule.
- 24:22Speaker 2: They'd scored so many points.
- 24:24Speaker 4: It was a 37 point touchdown, yeah.
- 24:28Speaker 2: But yeah, let's go back to the Miami game.
- 24:30Speaker 2: You know you had to have you felt confident after the first game against Miami Ohio, but you didn't know if it was false confidence.
- 24:42Speaker 2: It was, it was a real fall, although Miami fans lean in all the time.
- 24:45Speaker 2: So it's real, of course.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Yeah, of course, but when I made the we are back joke after the game last week, that was obviously a joke.
- 24:56Speaker 4: But I will say this measuring stick game, essentially that Miami played today.
- 25:04Speaker 4: We're not back, no, but you're on the way.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Like I had previously, making the right steps.
- 25:12Speaker 4: It's the 1999 season.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Well, you know, what I'd take that right now Is that I mean it looks like Florida State is back and it looks like Miami is on the way, and that's what it was in 99.
- 25:25Speaker 2: So maybe that is a good analogy.
- 25:27Speaker 2: We'll see what happens.
- 25:29Speaker 2: But if you asked me after two weeks who are the best two teams in the ACC?
- 25:37Speaker 4: Miami, florida State, finally All day.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Finally maybe, Maybe 20 years down the road, we'll get that rematch in the ACC championship.
- 25:45Speaker 2: I don't know, man, but honestly that looks like that game's looking more and more like a showdown.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Carolina.
- 25:52Speaker 4: North Carolina just tied it up.
- 25:54Speaker 4: We're going to double.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Every time it's 34, 34 North Carolina and App State.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Well, you know we're not gonna.
- 26:01Speaker 2: That game will be decided by anybody listening to this, but that just shows you we're doing instant reaction here.
- 26:11Speaker 4: And this is a huge game for the ACC because, like what we're talking about with Miami and Florida, state, carolina is the only other team that really is competitive in the ACC.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Well, I predict Carolina, miami, Florida State and Clemson will all be in the SEC in a couple of years.
- 26:26Speaker 2: But that's for another day, another dollar.
- 26:30Speaker 4: That's for another podcast.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but Miami with the big win and if you're a Miami fan you got to be happy, especially because of you know it feels good to have them over to work through the mistakes.
- 26:43Speaker 2: You know let the airs.
- 26:47Speaker 4: We shit the bed.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Yeah, and then we just made it a shit salad.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Right, right, and that's what you have to do when you're building a program back up.
- 26:56Speaker 2: You're gonna have your lumps and falls, but you have to just keep fighting.
- 27:00Speaker 2: As an FSU fan, I did not like to see it, but Miami's got to be happy.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Xavier, xavier Restrepo, with a big game.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Oh God, I love that guy and Jacoby's Walker.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, he really is.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Six catches, 126 yards.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Jacoby George had himself a hat trick five catches, 94 yards and three touchdowns.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Kobe Young Kobe Young six catches, 75 yards and a touchdown.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Remember George, early he was.
- 27:33Speaker 4: George was the one that muffs the punt early in the game when he swapped jerseys because they had to have, they couldn't have two, you know, two of the same number of threes.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Well, it's a good week for Miami.
- 27:47Speaker 4: It's a huge win for.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Mario Cristobal in the program.
- 27:50Speaker 2: We'll see what they make of it, though, but, justin, I appreciate you coming on with me giving us the instant reaction to the Hurricanes.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Big win over Jimbo.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Jim, but Bobby Bobby Petrino is putting on that face on as we speak.
- 28:10Speaker 2: All right, man, we'll talk to you next time.
- 28:12Speaker 4: All right, brother, we had to go.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Well, we got to get on out of here.
- 28:20Speaker 2: That's our ride.
- 28:20Speaker 2: I want to thank Snake Bit, family contributor Albert.
- 28:25Speaker 2: I want to thank Miami contributor Justin, and I want to thank FSU contributor Jimi Reno For joining me to react to a big day of college football, nfl week one getting started today.
- 28:45Speaker 2: I'm number one so far because I picked the Lions baby.
- 28:51Speaker 2: I got the lead one and, oh, looking forward to see what happens.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Dolphins Chargers is going to be a good game.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Niners Steelers.
- 29:04Speaker 2: I watched the FSU game again, analyze what was working for him.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Talk to Jimi Reno about the game later in the week.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Get some recruiting updates for you.
- 29:36Speaker 2: It really looks like Miami and Florida State might be the best two teams in the ACC that are going to be able to get things going.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I'm going to ask you right now, clemson struggle with College of Charleston, but they were able to get things going.
- 29:49Speaker 2: It's going to be huge that game in Clemson.
- 29:52Speaker 2: You can feel all their pride.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Everything's on the line for Clemson in that game against Florida State.
- 29:58Speaker 2: That's it.
- 29:59Speaker 2: That's the season for them.
- 30:03Speaker 2: But the top two teams Meet and Charlotte at the end of the year.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Wouldn't it be something if Miami and Florida State finally met In the first year they got rid of the Coastal.
- 30:16Speaker 2: That would be something.
- 30:17Speaker 2: But a long way to go and we'll see what happens.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Miami still has to play North Carolina and Clemson, so they'll have a chance.
- 30:25Speaker 2: They play the top teams in the ACC.
- 30:28Speaker 2: We'll see how they fare in those games.
- 30:31Speaker 2: North Carolina held on over Appalachian State and overtime survive.
- 30:42Speaker 2: No, mac Browns Happy that he doesn't have to play those guys again.
- 30:47Speaker 2: But hey, appreciate you listening and we'll talk to you next time right here on the North Florida Sports Network.
- 30:56Speaker 4: We had to go.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Our ride was here.
- 31:01Speaker 3: We got a shuttle, thank you.
