  almost 6 month old baby. And I really like.

  Working from home, especially now that I'm taking care of my

  daughter. And kind of the stay at home dad

  gambling dad, I guess. So I'm saying to myself.

  Overtime, meanwhile, the highs came with their fair share of.

  Losses were equally crushing. As a sports betting analyst, it

  I stood to win or lose. On a pick.

  It was about my. Reputation in the beginning,

  gambling. Trolls used to devastate.

  Me and keep me up at night. Then in time I learned it was

  all part of the game and the cost of doing business on a

  large platform. But that was nothing.

  Compared to being laid. Off let go.

  And shown the door three times in the course of. 15 years to be

  exact, the latest taking place earlier this week.

  Bruins, Celtics or Patriots. However, reality quickly set in

  when I moved. To Boston with my best friends

  in 2010. It was the height of the Great

  Recession if you had an English degree like me.

  Jobs are almost impossible to find.
• 8:30
  So I worked in. Restaurants.

  I started a. Boston Sports blog and I crossed
• 8:34
  my fingers that something would break my way.
• 8:36
  Eventually it did. In 2011, I replied to a.

  Craigslist ad for a. Customer service Rep.
• 8:41
  It was for a sports. Related website on the North
• 8:44
  Shore of Boston. Writing articles, answering
• 8:46
  phones, replying to emails. Starting off at 12 bucks an
• 8:49
  hour, it wasn't. Until I showed up for the
• 8:51
  interview that I realized it was a sports betting website.
• 8:55
  For the next 8 years, I learned data-driven contrarian sports
• 8:57
  betting. Inside and Out went from having
• 8:59
  never placed the bet before in my life.

  To quickly falling in love with the challenge of handicapping a
• 9:04
  game. Based on the numbers and the
• 9:06
  exhilaration of sweating your pick to win then in 2019.

  Sports Insights was. Bought out by the.

  Action Network before. Too long, I was laid off.

  For the very first time in my life.

  It was absolutely devastating me let go.

  It was inconceivable. In my mind, I'd become

  indispensable. In one of the.

  Faces of the company. But to the new corporate?

  Executives I was a. Nameless line on a spreadsheet.

  That they could save money by getting rid of.

  A few months later. I joined V Sin.

  The Vegas Stats Information Network.

  Without question, it was the best thing that ever happened to

  my career. Instead of working for a small
• 9:40
  website, I joined a national platform.

  I went from the. Minor leagues to the big
• 9:44
  leagues. Suddenly I had an agent.

  I was on TV. Writing articles for a massive
• 9:49
  audience, hosting podcasts and writing books.

  Things changed, first for the better and then for the worse

  when DraftKings. Bought Visen in 2021.

  I signed A2 year deal that paid me the most money I'd ever made

  in my life. I was riding high.

  I had just gotten engaged and bought my first house but then

  when the deal expired. In 2023.

  DraftKings elected not to renew my contract.

  Once again I. Was let go, luckily.

  My boss. And mentor at Visen Bill AD.

  Kept me on for another few years.

  He could have easily waved goodbye completely.

  But instead. Found a way.

  To keep me around as a writer. Regardless of what kind of job

  you have. Or industry you work in, you

  One to 10 rocking chair winner. On Tuesday morning I got a call

  from Visen saying they were letting me go.

  The first time it happens it feels earth shattering.

  Destroyed your. Confidence hits rock bottom.

  You're lost and terrified. Of the unknown.

  Really. But I'm the best worker there.

  How can they? Possibly let me go.

  After all I've done for them. It's unfair.

  It just doesn't make sense, just as you always.

  Remember your first love. You never forget the first time

  your heart is broken. It feels like being.

  Dumped the second time, it doesn't.

  Hurt as much, mostly because you've experienced it before.

  struggled. With mightily in my 20s.

  Works. However, a funny thing happened.

  This third and most. Recent time I was let go.

  I wasn't devastated, I didn't cry, I didn't feel.

  Lost. Abandoned or heartbroken

  instead? I felt a new feeling.

  Exciting. It could flop or it could be a
