- 1:28Speaker 5: We'll use the new button over there.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Well, that's have to use both of ours. Yeah, what's
- 1:34Speaker 4: going to the breath? But it happens. You know, we're
- 1:37Speaker 4: all humans. We have these bodies. You know, things happen.
- 1:39Speaker 4: You know you got something?
- 1:44Speaker 5: Is that what it is?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Wait till he has one.
- 1:46Speaker 4: I know it's I don't think it's as I just
- 1:48Speaker 4: think it's my My stomach is just mad.
- 1:51Speaker 2: It's just upset.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Too many Dois that.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Not enough dose? Sechis? Probably?
- 1:57Speaker 4: I don't know what it is. Once to the game,
- 2:00Speaker 4: first game we've been to you stay the whole time? No,
- 2:05Speaker 4: did not had children? Wow, I had children falling asleep
- 2:09Speaker 4: in the second quarter. So you know we didn't make.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It okay, fair enough, fair enough? And you know what,
- 2:16Speaker 2: did you enjoy it? And you had a park?
- 2:18Speaker 4: This is my job now, so I got to like
- 2:20Speaker 4: break down the game like where I was sitting. I
- 2:22Speaker 4: can't break down anything. All I can do is see
- 2:24Speaker 4: the result of the play.
- 2:25Speaker 6: Did you feel like you were watching it? Different now
- 2:27Speaker 6: that you know that it is your job and you
- 2:29Speaker 6: have to talk about it.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Actually, I started the game like the first drive.
- 2:32Speaker 4: I had my phone out in the note app and
- 2:34Speaker 4: I actually took two notes down.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Can you please share. I have no idea what they are.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Can you please check it out here? What they were?
- 2:41Speaker 2: This is just just going back to it.
- 2:43Speaker 5: It was like no flyover this time. Yeah, national anthem different.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Oh how about this? Okay, first note, crowd needs a
- 2:51Speaker 4: chill out man. Twelve minutes left in the first quarter,
- 2:54Speaker 4: they've already booed the offense twice.
- 2:57Speaker 2: That was my first note. I was like, they relaxed, guys.
- 3:00Speaker 4: It's like I got like twelve minutes or three minutes
- 3:02Speaker 4: into the scene, now, like, okay, sure, as the game went, sure.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I should be Yeah, you should be used to us punning.
- 3:07Speaker 2: On the first drive.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Three minutes into the game, we'd already have the ball
- 3:10Speaker 4: twice and got bood twice.
- 3:12Speaker 2: So yeah, first line, crowd needs a chill out man, man. Yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 4: My second and final note of the game, because after
- 3:22Speaker 4: that point I had to start getting the dipping dots
- 3:24Speaker 4: and the popcorn and taking kids of the bathroom, doing
- 3:27Speaker 4: that whole situation. South Carolina, first third down of the day,
- 3:32Speaker 4: perfect call. They were in a screen to the right
- 3:34Speaker 4: when LSU blitzed the corner from the left. Perfect call.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Never went back and watched that one. It was a
- 3:40Speaker 4: good note, chill out man. All right, after that, my
- 3:45Speaker 4: job kind of went out the window. Yeah, the husband, husband, father.
- 3:51Speaker 4: We were sitting right underneath the band, so real close
- 3:55Speaker 4: to the student section. So really good learning experience for
- 3:57Speaker 4: the children. Yeah, wow, Yeah, a lot of good people watching.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, real interesting. I've never been that close to the
- 4:06Speaker 2: students section. How much did you have to explain to
- 4:08Speaker 2: your children? I just told him that just keep my
- 4:13Speaker 2: eyes on the field, bud Yep, all right, Landra, how's
- 4:18Speaker 2: the weekend? Yeah, weekend was great, always good when we
- 4:20Speaker 2: get a win.
- 4:21Speaker 5: Saints didn't win yesterday, but it's fine. I had a
- 4:26Speaker 5: little bit of hope at the end.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Oh for sure.
- 4:28Speaker 5: I texted the Ellison group chat and he was like,
- 4:31Speaker 5: it might be because I'm on my third beer, but
- 4:33Speaker 5: I feel like we might pull this off.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it was fine.
- 4:37Speaker 6: It kept hanging around, hanging around, hanging out of the Patriots.
- 4:39Speaker 6: Never really separated now because the Saints didn't allow him to.
- 4:42Speaker 6: But it's like, right, it's right there.
- 4:46Speaker 5: The weather wasn't terribly hot on Saturday during the game,
- 4:50Speaker 5: so that's that's good. To The breeze that night was
- 4:53Speaker 5: actually kind of putting me to sleep. Also, it wasn't
- 4:56Speaker 5: like so much that the game. I mean, the game
- 5:00Speaker 5: was the game, but the breeze was putting me to sleep.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Victory, the victory.
- 5:06Speaker 5: It's always great to get a win, but admittedly it
- 5:12Speaker 5: was a boring win, like, but we got to win.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So mm hmm hmm. I was like the Florida game,
- 5:20Speaker 2: just different jerseys.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Yeah. I think I gave Hunt twenty one to ten
- 5:25Speaker 5: my score predictions.
- 5:26Speaker 4: So I was one.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I was twenty four fourteen, Yeah, I was one. Were
- 5:33Speaker 2: we kind of new?
- 5:34Speaker 4: Yeah that was I mean, I think Flynn's was pretty
- 5:37Speaker 4: close too. Yeah I was or seventeen.
- 5:40Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, we were all around the same thing. But yeah, great.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Other than that, pretty good weekend. I texted you all
- 5:47Speaker 5: yesterday that I felt like the commentators are like glazing
- 5:51Speaker 5: Drake may so so much.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yesterday it was commentators for that Saints game.
- 5:56Speaker 5: You said something else about, oh that he was cheerleading
- 5:58Speaker 5: or something.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it was what you're not supposed to do. It
- 6:04Speaker 2: was bad, bad. Well, honestly, he's pretty good, No, not
- 6:09Speaker 2: even just him, just.
- 6:12Speaker 5: He's playing pretty good.
- 6:13Speaker 2: But it was so for once was doing well.
- 6:18Speaker 5: I'm not disputing that, but I was like, calm down
- 6:21Speaker 5: a little like carrying drooling on the desk.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Yeah, and for once, the Saints got like some really
- 6:31Speaker 4: bad calls to go in there in their favor, Like,
- 6:33Speaker 4: oh my god, what were those calls?
- 6:36Speaker 2: The first? First one?
- 6:39Speaker 7: Now the second one from a lot of scrimmage, dog,
- 6:42Speaker 7: I know the second one.
- 6:43Speaker 6: On the second one, Stefan Diggs didn't really complain too much,
- 6:46Speaker 6: and he did put his arm out and stop him.
- 6:48Speaker 6: I'm like, he feels like he did more than I
- 6:50Speaker 6: saw or write either way though, I'll take this, yeah,
- 6:53Speaker 6: I'll take it.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Like the second one fine, like if you want to
- 6:55Speaker 2: do it and you can complain.
- 6:58Speaker 4: But the first one, yeah, I don't think I'm ever
- 7:00Speaker 4: seen that an offensive pass interference call within five yards
- 7:04Speaker 4: the line of scrimmers. That wasn't like a pick play. Yeah, shocking.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Good for us though, but not great for us.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I know. I like it help you get all the
- 7:14Speaker 2: opportunities you could.
- 7:15Speaker 6: I'm excited to break that one down a little bit
- 7:17Speaker 6: later on uh Tite, Your Buccaneers won again.
- 7:21Speaker 2: They did looked great again, he did.
- 7:24Speaker 6: You got a little smile on your face, Cowboys loss,
- 7:27Speaker 6: I think that makes you happy.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Now the Panthers, I know, Memphis was so far up VP.
- 7:33Speaker 2: That's what they keep saying on TV. The Panthers sneaky
- 7:36Speaker 2: good this year.
- 7:36Speaker 7: They were kind of three years second in the NFC South.
- 7:41Speaker 4: They are the Saints are the only team the NFC
- 7:43Speaker 4: South of the losing record right now.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Probably changed tonight. Yeah, but exavierly get how's he doing?
- 7:49Speaker 2: Oh we gotta check those stats out.
- 7:50Speaker 4: I'm sure he popped off about one hundred and eighty
- 7:52Speaker 4: and ninety Yes, prediction.
- 7:54Speaker 2: No one played well as far as the weekend goes.
- 7:59Speaker 2: First game.
- 7:59Speaker 7: I was able to make it out too in person
- 8:01Speaker 7: on Saturday. I had a great time. Uh you were
- 8:04Speaker 7: in the crowd.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Oh yeah in the crowd.
- 8:07Speaker 7: I won the station survey or the station question the
- 8:11Speaker 7: Vickison out on Thursday?
- 8:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that'd be email. I don't check this well,
- 8:14Speaker 2: I just happened to have it opening for you. I
- 8:17Speaker 2: got it. Yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 7: So we we had a great time there. Yeah, good weekend.
- 8:22Speaker 7: All the teams wound up winning.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Nice.
- 8:25Speaker 4: How does Baker Mayfield just become more likable every week?
- 8:28Speaker 2: Did you see his quote? Like from last week?
- 8:31Speaker 6: He's like, you know, when I was younger and I
- 8:33Speaker 6: was being myself, like I was immature in cocky and
- 8:37Speaker 6: now I'm the same person and I've got that dog
- 8:40Speaker 6: game me and I'm cocky and I'm not cocky.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I just got the moxie. It's like, how's that happen?
- 8:48Speaker 7: On the broadcast, they were like it went from arrogance
- 8:50Speaker 7: to moxie. I'm like, like, he's always been cool, just
- 8:54Speaker 7: for whatever reason. There was a narrative in college and
- 8:56Speaker 7: they're like, he's the Johnny Manziel and I'm like, no.
- 8:58Speaker 1: He's not.
- 8:59Speaker 7: He's just he's kind of a He's a he's a
- 9:01Speaker 7: shorter white quarterback that runs around. He's not Johnny Manziel.
- 9:04Speaker 7: Like they're nothing alike. He's always he's always been this guy.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Yep. It was probably the hold up that did it
- 9:10Speaker 2: in college.
- 9:12Speaker 7: Yes, and you know, if it doesn't get caught on camera,
- 9:15Speaker 7: nobody cares. Stuff like that said every single play, Oh,
- 9:18Speaker 7: I loved it, right, And if you go back and
- 9:19Speaker 7: watch that game, Kansas refused to shake his hand. They
- 9:22Speaker 7: had a late hit on him twice. Then he did that,
- 9:25Speaker 7: but he was called on camp.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Hold you up, all right, Richard? But what did I say?
- 9:38Speaker 2: Who's Richard? I was like time boyd Richard what's happening?
- 9:44Speaker 4: Le Xavier get average five and a half yards per
- 9:47Speaker 4: reception this past weekend two receptions.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Two receptions, ten yards, eleven yards. But ah, okay, big deal,
- 9:56Speaker 2: So we're coming. We're coming.
- 9:59Speaker 6: Great ball per day, they scored thirty points and he
- 10:01Speaker 6: had two for eleven. All right, I look, when we
- 10:06Speaker 6: come back, we'll get it started. We'll start to break
- 10:09Speaker 6: down LSU South Carolina. Of course, we've got to get
- 10:12Speaker 6: to these saints in the Patriots there still. I mean,
- 10:15Speaker 6: it's oh, we got we got some film to break
- 10:17Speaker 6: the same story. Say, it's a lot of good but
- 10:20Speaker 6: not good enough. So we'll have it all for you
- 10:24Speaker 6: when we come back. It is otb here on this

- 13:35Speaker 6: All right, it was LSU twenty South Carolina ten, and
- 13:38Speaker 6: here's how we got there. First downs pretty even twenty
- 13:42Speaker 6: two for LSU, twenty four South Carolina. Third down efficiency
- 13:45Speaker 6: six of sixteen for South Carolina, four of eleven four
- 13:49Speaker 6: LSU in South Carolina was zero for two on fourth
- 13:51Speaker 6: down total yards three seventeen four South Carolina, four to
- 13:55Speaker 6: twenty two for LSU through the air, one hundred and
- 13:58Speaker 6: twenty four yards for South Carolin Lina two fifty four
- 14:01Speaker 6: for LSU. Yards per pass four point six for South Carolina,
- 14:05Speaker 6: seven point seven for LSU. Lenora Sellers had one interception.
- 14:10Speaker 6: Garrett Nesmeyer had two. Rushing one hundred ninety three yards
- 14:14Speaker 6: for South Carolina, one hundred and sixty eight for LSU.
- 14:18Speaker 6: Yards per rush four point three for South Carolina, six
- 14:21Speaker 6: yards for LSU. Penalties thirteen for South Carolina, five for LSU.
- 14:27Speaker 6: Turnovers you had three, which is certainly gonna be something
- 14:30Speaker 6: we talked about here. South Carolina had two, including their
- 14:34Speaker 6: first offensive play time and possession thirty one forty five
- 14:37Speaker 6: for South Carolina, twenty eight to fifteen for LSU, and
- 14:41Speaker 6: again you get the victory twenty to ten. Initial thoughts
- 14:49Speaker 6: on this game. LSU another victory there, but still leaves
- 14:55Speaker 6: a lot there to be desired.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Yeah, it's kind of this weird, like weird world that
- 15:00Speaker 4: we live in as LSU fans because you expect then,
- 15:02Speaker 4: the expectations before the season, the expectations we all have
- 15:07Speaker 4: going into every game are so high, like you want
- 15:09Speaker 4: them to just dominate on both sides of the ball,
- 15:12Speaker 4: especially you know in the last handful of years where
- 15:14Speaker 4: we have been predominantly dominating on the offensive side of
- 15:17Speaker 4: the ball, but we've had years where defensively we've struggled.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Now we got this dominant bear of a defense.
- 15:24Speaker 4: And our expectations, I feel like, are so high that
- 15:28Speaker 4: sometimes even when we get a victory, we still feel
- 15:31Speaker 4: a little bit flat as fans. We feel a little
- 15:34Speaker 4: bit disappointed, like what could have? What should a you know,
- 15:37Speaker 4: what are we doing here and there? But when you
- 15:40Speaker 4: take when you when you kind of step back and
- 15:42Speaker 4: look at it, you gotta just see we got a
- 15:45Speaker 4: dominant defense and that defense. Of course, like when you
- 15:47Speaker 4: watch defensive football, it's not like the most exciting thing
- 15:51Speaker 4: to watch for for all fans because you want to
- 15:53Speaker 4: see high flying, high score and big.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Plays here, those sexy plays there.
- 15:58Speaker 4: But when you have defense, it's a different type of sexist, right,
- 16:01Speaker 4: it's a different types of beauty in that in that
- 16:03Speaker 4: type of game, and we have a defense that is
- 16:08Speaker 4: absolutely incredible. They fly around, they make plays, they are
- 16:12Speaker 4: exciting to watch, and they gave South Carolina fits. Leonora's
- 16:17Speaker 4: sellers looked very pedestrian. I mean he's like look kind
- 16:22Speaker 4: of what we said in like watching the film and
- 16:23Speaker 4: leading up and we talked about he's strong boy like
- 16:26Speaker 4: that as strong as an ox.
- 16:28Speaker 2: That's it. I mean, that's his strong.
- 16:30Speaker 4: He could literally carry all eleven players on his back,
- 16:33Speaker 4: and if he had, poor Jack Piebrin probably had five
- 16:36Speaker 4: sacks that he just could not get Lenora selling. Yeah,
- 16:38Speaker 4: Like that's the thing with that with with Leonori's like,
- 16:41Speaker 4: if you to get him down on a sack, you
- 16:42Speaker 4: gotta either he's got to be tripping and you get him,
- 16:45Speaker 4: or you gotta grab onto anything you can bite, scratch, claw,
- 16:49Speaker 4: pull him, wait for the cavalry to arrive type situation,
- 16:53Speaker 4: because you're not going to get him one on one.
- 16:54Speaker 2: It's just not going to happen.
- 16:57Speaker 4: So like to be able to do that and believe that,
- 17:00Speaker 4: I believe they held him to like eighteen yards rushing
- 17:03Speaker 4: or something like that.
- 17:04Speaker 6: Well, yeah, he was sacked I believe five times, So yeah,
- 17:08Speaker 6: the stats end up being twenty something carries for like
- 17:10Speaker 6: eighteen yards. But yeah, he was put on the ground
- 17:13Speaker 6: five times, which in college I still hate that it's
- 17:15Speaker 6: taken away from your rushing total, but it is. And
- 17:18Speaker 6: one of the things that was evident to me, even
- 17:20Speaker 6: like live without going back and watching the game was
- 17:24Speaker 6: there wasn't anywhere for him to throw the football. No,
- 17:27Speaker 6: like the job that Corey Raymond and Jake Olsen have
- 17:30Speaker 6: done with this dB room. I'm talking to Marcus Cooley,
- 17:34Speaker 6: Delaye Pickett, Hawsey, PJ. Woodland had a nice breakup where
- 17:39Speaker 6: he was beat initially and he had nice recovery, didn't
- 17:42Speaker 6: panic and as a PBu that to me compared to
- 17:46Speaker 6: where that has been for a couple of years, no doubt, as.
- 17:50Speaker 2: There many they are. It's an elite secondary it is
- 17:52Speaker 2: for sure, damn good.
- 17:53Speaker 6: It's or I mean, aj Halsey might end up working
- 17:57Speaker 6: himself into a fresh round pick Like I have literally
- 18:01Speaker 6: had people that make decisions in the NFL text me
- 18:05Speaker 6: and say, hey, are my eyes telling me the story?
- 18:07Speaker 2: Because I think this guy might be your first round.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Man.
- 18:09Speaker 2: I think he's pretty good.
- 18:10Speaker 6: Like right, I've had three people like he's he's getting
- 18:13Speaker 6: that kind of attention. They are really really good man.
- 18:16Speaker 6: And for Lenora's sellers, I don't really know where to
- 18:20Speaker 6: tell you to throw the football. Although delayed is not
- 18:23Speaker 6: somebody I would pick on on fourth down.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe not go to his direction. That's not the
- 18:27Speaker 2: guy I would try to attack in that situation.
- 18:30Speaker 4: But it's funny though, like you, we we kind of
- 18:32Speaker 4: say that in college football, and quarterbacks don't always think that.
- 18:37Speaker 4: They don't always go to matchups. It's like, what's the read?
- 18:40Speaker 4: What's my read? Okay, they're they're overload the left side
- 18:42Speaker 4: on one on one back, so we're going to go
- 18:43Speaker 4: to that. Everything's happening so quickly, especially trying to like
- 18:46Speaker 4: decipher what an LSU defensive front and linebacker crew is
- 18:50Speaker 4: like cooking up for you as far as pressure packages.
- 18:53Speaker 4: So they're not always like cerebral and quick enough on
- 18:56Speaker 4: the trigger mentally to say, all right, well that's one
- 18:58Speaker 4: I want to monsoor let's not let's not test him today.
- 19:02Speaker 4: But and Leonoris, he's just not as pure of a
- 19:06Speaker 4: passer as you need to be to overcome like a
- 19:10Speaker 4: talent deficit between your receivers and LSU's DB's like there
- 19:15Speaker 4: was a clear talent difference there. Lshu is extraordinarily talented
- 19:19Speaker 4: on the back end in the secondary, and when you're
- 19:22Speaker 4: talented out wide and you can one on one coverage people,
- 19:26Speaker 4: you can put more people in the box and it
- 19:28Speaker 4: becomes like this safety game where these safeties can play
- 19:30Speaker 4: games with you. They can fly around. If they don't
- 19:32Speaker 4: have to worry about like going over the top and
- 19:34Speaker 4: helping my boy out here on the sideline, they can
- 19:37Speaker 4: roam around. And we talked about just this game was
- 19:41Speaker 4: the same kind of game plan as we had for
- 19:43Speaker 4: Clemson as we're going to have this week. Is if
- 19:46Speaker 4: we can lock down the outside, it becomes a safety game.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Safeties play well. Offense that they're going against is going
- 19:52Speaker 4: to have a really, really hard time. So they played great. Man,
- 19:57Speaker 4: it was really fun to watch them, But of course
- 19:59Speaker 4: all that was fans feeling a little bit flat after
- 20:02Speaker 4: this one, right, if I'm reading the temperature correctly.
- 20:06Speaker 6: Yeah, the chat, I mean for sure, and just around
- 20:09Speaker 6: town because like you said, I mean, well, I mean,
- 20:12Speaker 6: first off, we all know, I mean offensive side of
- 20:14Speaker 6: the football, superior side of the football. We all know that, right,
- 20:19Speaker 6: But when when you're dominant on defense in your offense,
- 20:24Speaker 6: you're like you're waiting for more to happen. That's typically
- 20:27Speaker 6: the feeling that you have. But look, the defense the
- 20:30Speaker 6: good the good part about it. The defense is going
- 20:32Speaker 6: to keep you in every single game that you've got
- 20:34Speaker 6: left on your schedule. They're going to leave you in
- 20:36Speaker 6: there long enough for you to have a chance. Even
- 20:39Speaker 6: going back to the loss you had against Ole mess
- 20:41Speaker 6: right end up being a five point loss. They gave
- 20:43Speaker 6: you the ball back a couple of times through turnovers
- 20:46Speaker 6: to say, hey, go make the play. You just didn't
- 20:49Speaker 6: make the play. So like that's the good part. The
- 20:53Speaker 6: bad part about it is I don't know that you
- 20:56Speaker 6: can go make the play right now. Like this this
- 20:59Speaker 6: game flow is so we're matt because like you're moving
- 21:02Speaker 6: the football, you outgain South Carolina and you can be like,
- 21:05Speaker 6: well if they didn't turn it over, well, if they
- 21:07Speaker 6: didn't turn it over, and just keep saying that. I'm like, yeah,
- 21:10Speaker 6: but that's what teams that are struggling do, Like that's
- 21:13Speaker 6: why they struggle.
- 21:14Speaker 2: And part of it.
- 21:15Speaker 6: Moving the football is great, but if you don't finish
- 21:18Speaker 6: in the end zone. What does it mean you were
- 21:20Speaker 6: on the one yard line twice two different occasions and
- 21:24Speaker 6: didn't score touchdowns, like with downs to go, not a
- 21:29Speaker 6: fourth down situation like that can't happen.
- 21:31Speaker 4: Teams that are struggling on offense can't get out of
- 21:35Speaker 4: their own way. And that's what's frustrating for the LSU
- 21:38Speaker 4: fan base right now, is because we see the dominance
- 21:41Speaker 4: and the excitement on the other side of the ball,
- 21:43Speaker 4: right and we haven't had that in years.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And it's awesome, I know.
- 21:46Speaker 6: I mean, it's something they got the ball, Like on
- 21:47Speaker 6: the thirty seven, they're like, you're thirty seven.
- 21:49Speaker 2: I was like, oh, they're good. Yeah, and they stopped them,
- 21:52Speaker 2: and it's just like, you're right.
- 21:54Speaker 4: We are going to be in every single game with
- 21:57Speaker 4: an opportunity to win, and everything is still out in
- 21:59Speaker 4: front of this team.
- 22:00Speaker 2: You want.
- 22:01Speaker 4: Championships are still out in front of the scene because
- 22:03Speaker 4: you have this defense. But you got to get out
- 22:05Speaker 4: of your own way on offense. Yeah, we can point
- 22:08Speaker 4: and I got and I broke the whole film down yesterday.
- 22:10Speaker 4: There's tons of film we can watch. I don't know
- 22:12Speaker 4: what we can actually do on radio today, but like
- 22:15Speaker 4: you did a lot of good the Running game. Huge improvement.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Now early in the game you struggled a little bit here.
- 22:22Speaker 4: There's still so much to tweak and fix on that
- 22:24Speaker 4: running game. But man, huge improvement, and you actually is great.
- 22:28Speaker 6: You did stay committed because on the broadcast I kept
- 22:30Speaker 6: saying they're close, they are close. I'm telling you, they're
- 22:32Speaker 6: close to breaking one. They're close to breaking one that
- 22:34Speaker 6: has Jwan Johnson breaks the fifty something yarder. Cayden Durham
- 22:38Speaker 6: I called him and I was like, hey, on these
- 22:40Speaker 6: short yards situations, man, you're not looking for fourteen yards.
- 22:44Speaker 2: You're looking for like fourteen inches. Ye, right, And at
- 22:46Speaker 2: the beginning of the game he I wasn't really doing that,
- 22:48Speaker 2: and then he figured it out. It's like that's what
- 22:50Speaker 2: I'm going to do.
- 22:50Speaker 4: So and look, and we're close to even popping off
- 22:53Speaker 4: more yards. I mean, there's fifty seventy eighty more yards
- 22:57Speaker 4: to gain. Facts are you know a little bit more
- 23:01Speaker 4: different philosophies were firing off the ball a little bit more.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Back's gotta practice that. They got to work that. They
- 23:06Speaker 4: missed a couple of cuts, missed a couple of reads.
- 23:08Speaker 4: Offensive line missed a couple of calls, missed, a couple
- 23:10Speaker 4: of blocks, assignments here and there, and look, that's okay.
- 23:13Speaker 4: That happens every game, Like you could turn on every game.
- 23:15Speaker 4: You could turn on uh team that goes undefeated, and
- 23:20Speaker 4: every single game, every single drive, there's gonna be missed
- 23:22Speaker 4: assignments and plays left on the field. So that's it's fine,
- 23:25Speaker 4: But there is things to work on theirs. There's positive
- 23:29Speaker 4: right there because of those changes we we we said
- 23:32Speaker 4: in the bye week, what are you going to fix?
- 23:33Speaker 2: What are you going to change? The things you need
- 23:35Speaker 2: to do? Well, they you could tell that they were
- 23:38Speaker 2: really cognizant of it. Yeah.
- 23:40Speaker 4: I think in the first quarter they put a fullback
- 23:42Speaker 4: out there. Sure it didn't work, but that's probably the
- 23:45Speaker 4: first time or second time that they've done that in
- 23:48Speaker 4: a live situation. The play was there, the running back
- 23:51Speaker 4: made the wrong read on it, right, and that's okay.
- 23:54Speaker 4: He hasn't done it a whole lot, right, right, keep
- 23:56Speaker 4: doing it. Don't don't make that one bad read by
- 23:59Speaker 4: like the by the going and back change that philosophy.
- 24:02Speaker 2: You did it, you put it in.
- 24:03Speaker 4: You made some changes that you need to which I
- 24:05Speaker 4: find is positive. But in the passing game. You got
- 24:08Speaker 4: to get out of your own way. It is inexcusable
- 24:13Speaker 4: to turn the ball over twice in the red zone.
- 24:16Speaker 4: And I know one was a run play, one was
- 24:17Speaker 4: a pass play, but it is inexcusable for an offense
- 24:21Speaker 4: to keep a team in it that way. Yep, the
- 24:24Speaker 4: score was twenty to ten. Everybody kind of feels bad
- 24:27Speaker 4: about the win. We're happy for it, we're happy for
- 24:28Speaker 4: the wind. Don't get us wrong, but everybody kind of
- 24:30Speaker 4: feels a little bit deflated. You don't turn that ball
- 24:32Speaker 4: over and you score. It's a thirty four to ten.
- 24:36Speaker 4: We're not even really having a conversation. We're gonna have
- 24:38Speaker 4: to look and like explain to y'all why there's improvement
- 24:41Speaker 4: still to be made. Is a thirty four to ten
- 24:43Speaker 4: ball game?
- 24:44Speaker 2: Right?
- 24:45Speaker 4: Yeah, it's inexcusable. There's no excuse for it. You have
- 24:49Speaker 4: to clean it up or you will lose some more games,
- 24:53Speaker 4: say multiple, Yeah, yeah, you gonna You're gonna lose more
- 24:56Speaker 4: games if you don't clean those things up. Garrett Asmaier
- 24:58Speaker 4: and RPO throws a pick inexplainable.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know what he's doing.
- 25:03Speaker 4: I don't even know why that's an option to throw
- 25:04Speaker 4: that route. He throws a three step slant to a
- 25:06Speaker 4: slot receiver on a running play like an RPO, Like,
- 25:08Speaker 4: I don't know what his read is because it shouldn't
- 25:11Speaker 4: even be a read. That shouldn't even be an option
- 25:12Speaker 4: for him to throw it. And then don't throw it. Yeah,
- 25:16Speaker 4: just don't throw it.
- 25:16Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, fumble on though, I mean you're yeah, it
- 25:19Speaker 6: was if I'm remembering right, you have what single high
- 25:22Speaker 6: safety just like sitting there, like.
- 25:23Speaker 2: What are you safety? It's a safety on the remember
- 25:26Speaker 2: of safety being right there on the side of it.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Like I said, I don't even know what that read is,
- 25:30Speaker 2: Like what's the read?
- 25:33Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not clearly not that right, and he throws
- 25:36Speaker 4: it kind of fading away. Then earlier in the game,
- 25:39Speaker 4: you fumble on the one yard line. He like I
- 25:41Speaker 4: had he was going to write at me, and he
- 25:42Speaker 4: tries to like reach it over and you don't reach
- 25:44Speaker 4: on the goal line unless like you better be right
- 25:46Speaker 4: one of those situations.
- 25:47Speaker 2: If you're going to reach on the goal line, you
- 25:48Speaker 2: better be oh yeah, trust me. And he wasn't right.
- 25:51Speaker 2: My coaches will tell you that play, well, don't every time.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Every level you see people reach for the goal line
- 25:57Speaker 4: all the time, right, reach the pilot, reach with the
- 25:59Speaker 4: goal on.
- 26:00Speaker 2: You're actually taught not to do that.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Yeah, and if the coaches says if you do it,
- 26:03Speaker 4: better be right, you better be right because if you don't,
- 26:06Speaker 4: if you're not right now, fumble and.
- 26:08Speaker 2: That was second down too, Like, that's that's going to
- 26:11Speaker 2: be for me.
- 26:12Speaker 6: You take a look at Juwan Johnson fumble second and
- 26:15Speaker 6: goal from the one, right, that should have been a touchdown.
- 26:18Speaker 2: That should certainly be points.
- 26:21Speaker 6: Martos an interception second and eight at the South Carolina nine,
- 26:24Speaker 6: the one you just talked about. All right, that's points
- 26:27Speaker 6: guaranteed points because like your kicker from forty in is
- 26:30Speaker 6: really good, right, he's been basically automatic. Then at the
- 26:34Speaker 6: end of the game, first and goal to South Carolina one.
- 26:36Speaker 6: Here's your sequence, first and goal from the one. And
- 26:39Speaker 6: you know, this is the one thing that makes me
- 26:41Speaker 6: more angry than anything is when you can't punch it
- 26:43Speaker 6: in short yardage. You had a zero yard run, then
- 26:49Speaker 6: you had a negative two yard run which you fumbled.
- 26:53Speaker 6: Then you come back and you have a negative two
- 26:56Speaker 6: yard run from the three yard line and I'm not sure,
- 27:00Speaker 6: so you ran the jumbo package out there after Nussmeyer
- 27:04Speaker 6: tried to sneak it and lost two yards and fumbled it.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I'm not sure that.
- 27:09Speaker 6: I think they went to personnel and then they realized
- 27:12Speaker 6: because it was kind of confusing, the referees didn't really
- 27:15Speaker 6: announce it right.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Then you see the.
- 27:18Speaker 6: Jumbo package back out there from the three, and I
- 27:20Speaker 6: think you still thought the ball was on the one,
- 27:23Speaker 6: but your sequence was no yard run, negative two yard run,
- 27:28Speaker 6: negative two yard run. Like those are things that you
- 27:31Speaker 6: can't do with who you have coming up on your
- 27:34Speaker 6: schedule if you want to win, because there's place to
- 27:37Speaker 6: be made, is my entire point of bringing it up.
- 27:39Speaker 6: Like fumble, interception, fumble, you jumped on it, you settle
- 27:43Speaker 6: for a field goal, So at minimum, at minimum it
- 27:47Speaker 6: needs to be six more points. But in reality, I
- 27:51Speaker 6: would say, when you're on the one yard line twice,
- 27:54Speaker 6: that's fourteen points, and then even if you get stopped
- 27:56Speaker 6: on the other one, that's three points added to it,
- 28:00Speaker 6: seventeen points, which certainly in any other SEC game might
- 28:04Speaker 6: get you beat, probably will get you beat.
- 28:05Speaker 4: Yeah, at South Carolina wasn't no, let's call it it is.
- 28:09Speaker 4: South Cala went very very good, right, it should have
- 28:13Speaker 4: been a little bit more to a little bit less.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Hey defense look good, all.
- 28:21Speaker 6: Right, h We'll take a break, but don't worry, we'll
- 28:23Speaker 6: come back. We'll continue talking about LSU and South Carolina.
- 28:27Speaker 6: Here in our number one stay locked in. It is
- 28:30Speaker 6: OTB live from the Raisin Gaines studio.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Off the bench.

- 30:12Speaker 2: I mean not ready. Just stand awa from me.
- 30:15Speaker 4: It's because they just come up then, do not move
- 30:18Speaker 4: up to the NMC because my two is old.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Ladies, do me.
- 30:23Speaker 4: All right?
- 30:23Speaker 2: Welcome back an OTV here on this Monday morning.
- 30:26Speaker 6: And when it comes to building big in Louisiana, nobody

- 30:33Speaker 6: and turnaround services, PALA has been keeping our state's industries
- 30:37Speaker 6: rolling for over fifty years, built on teamwork, safety and
- 30:41Speaker 6: doing the job the right way the first time, just
- 30:44Speaker 6: like any championship program. So if your business needs a
- 30:47Speaker 6: partner that performs at the highest level. Visit palagroup dot com.
- 30:51Speaker 6: That is palagroup dot com, Pala Group building Louisiana's future,
- 30:55Speaker 6: one project at a time.
- 30:59Speaker 2: All Right, continuing to break down LSU and South Carolina.
- 31:03Speaker 6: Here a couple of the individual statistics from this game,
- 31:06Speaker 6: because we kind of gave you an overview of what
- 31:08Speaker 6: the team stats looked like. For Garrett Nusmeyer twenty of
- 31:12Speaker 6: thirty three, two fifty four, two touchdowns, two interceptions, seven
- 31:16Speaker 6: point seven yards per attempt. Kiten Durham on the ground
- 31:19Speaker 6: is your leading rusher. Fifteen carries for seventy yards four
- 31:23Speaker 6: point seven. Juwan Johnson five for sixty six thirteen point two.
- 31:28Speaker 6: Neuss Meyer actually did add a couple of nice runs
- 31:30Speaker 6: with his legs there, stepped up in the pocket a
- 31:33Speaker 6: couple of different times. Four carries for thirty yards and
- 31:36Speaker 6: a career long of twenty one yards there for Nessmeyer.
- 31:40Speaker 6: Harlan Berry four carries for two yards for the young freshman.
- 31:44Speaker 6: So you did run the football better twenty eight times
- 31:47Speaker 6: one hundred and sixty eight yards. You had six yards
- 31:49Speaker 6: per carry.
- 31:51Speaker 2: It was better.
- 31:53Speaker 6: It's got to continue to develop, it's got to continue
- 31:56Speaker 6: to go up. But at least you were committed to
- 31:59Speaker 6: the run. You know, twenty eight total team runs, thirty
- 32:03Speaker 6: three passes, so you're right there, probably you know, forty
- 32:07Speaker 6: five percent on the ground.
- 32:09Speaker 2: So it was a better effort and a lot of
- 32:12Speaker 2: improvement on the running game too.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Yeah, It's like it was the whole conversation during the Bible,
- 32:17Speaker 4: what are we going to do as an offensive unit
- 32:19Speaker 4: as a coaching staff, Like how are you going to
- 32:21Speaker 4: look at it? Or are you going to look at it?
- 32:23Speaker 4: It's like, we're close to there. We got to change
- 32:25Speaker 4: some stuff. Well, they changed some stuff, right philosophically. They
- 32:29Speaker 4: ran some more stuff now, a little bit more rpo
- 32:31Speaker 4: than than these eyes I would like to see still, but.
- 32:34Speaker 2: A lot less, a lot more call a run run
- 32:37Speaker 2: a run situation. Yeah, they did play a little.
- 32:40Speaker 4: They went underneath the center a few times for some
- 32:42Speaker 4: running plays, got a full back in a couple of times. Granted,
- 32:44Speaker 4: albeit didn't work as well as we wanted it to.
- 32:48Speaker 4: But it's a good step in the right direction. I
- 32:51Speaker 4: think if you give those running backs a couple more
- 32:54Speaker 4: opportunities to read, I mean, how many times do they
- 32:56Speaker 4: read a full back in their career, you know what
- 32:58Speaker 4: I mean. And holy power alert, I think we got
- 33:02Speaker 4: a power. I think we had at least one we had, Okay,
- 33:06Speaker 4: so Dura we saw on tape. I counted on tape
- 33:09Speaker 4: five pulling guards. Yes, on tape we did have some counters,
- 33:13Speaker 4: but I think four of those were counters because it
- 33:16Speaker 4: was a pulling guard with a tight end and most
- 33:19Speaker 4: of the time like on the counter. So if you're
- 33:21Speaker 4: running a counter left, the guard and the tackle from
- 33:26Speaker 4: the right will pull around to the left. The tackle
- 33:28Speaker 4: will shoot down, leaving the defensive end. So basically the
- 33:32Speaker 4: guard kicks out the the defensive end on the left,
- 33:36Speaker 4: the tight end leads the way. So I saw that
- 33:38Speaker 4: a lot the early in the game.
- 33:40Speaker 6: I think on my charge you had five counters and
- 33:43Speaker 6: one that I'm going to consider a power.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Yeah, so I had five pulling guards, which pretty much
- 33:48Speaker 4: countered the first one. With just over thirteen minutes left
- 33:51Speaker 4: in the first quarter, we get into a wildcat formation.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Awesome to see. Hell of a job and it worked
- 33:56Speaker 2: and it worked. So basically, basically, you run a power
- 33:59Speaker 2: with the running back.
- 34:01Speaker 4: I guess who's lined up as running back leads the
- 34:03Speaker 4: way like the tight end, So it basically looks like
- 34:05Speaker 4: a counter, but you call it a wildcat QB power.
- 34:08Speaker 2: If you want to.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Just for the sake of us getting the power in
- 34:10Speaker 4: this year, we'll just call it that. But look, it worked,
- 34:14Speaker 4: and that was probably one of your more efficient plays.
- 34:17Speaker 4: There was some zone plays where we where we fired
- 34:21Speaker 4: off the ball. We ran we called a zone. We
- 34:23Speaker 4: ran his zone with no option of a screen or
- 34:27Speaker 4: a pass down the field. Let's just run it. And
- 34:30Speaker 4: it didn't always look pretty, but Kayden Durham or whoever
- 34:34Speaker 4: the running back was would break a tackle or two
- 34:37Speaker 4: and get some really nice yardage. And why can they
- 34:40Speaker 4: do that because the offensive lineman when they fire off
- 34:44Speaker 4: the ball and go for their block, they're presenting you
- 34:46Speaker 4: a read instead of like pitter pattering, like stuttering your
- 34:49Speaker 4: feet because you're trying to like not get down the
- 34:51Speaker 4: field and you're don't know if you're throwing it or
- 34:53Speaker 4: you're running it. Even if you're running the ball and
- 34:56Speaker 4: you're a left tackle and you have to work to
- 34:58Speaker 4: the will linebacker and you fire off and you miss
- 35:01Speaker 4: your block, that's still giving the back of read something
- 35:04Speaker 4: to play football off of when you don't know what's
- 35:09Speaker 4: going to happen with that block. That's when you start
- 35:15Speaker 4: trying to figure out a nice word to say. That's
- 35:18Speaker 4: when you start tiptap tiptoeing through the tulips. I guess
- 35:21Speaker 4: something footing is what I wanted to say. So it
- 35:26Speaker 4: was nice to see them through the tulips. Yeah, it
- 35:28Speaker 4: was really nice to see that. And it gave you
- 35:31Speaker 4: some It gave the running backs some really good I
- 35:35Speaker 4: feel like a game for the running backs to really
- 35:37Speaker 4: build off of, because although it wasn't all good, you
- 35:40Speaker 4: miss some reads, there's some really good tape out there
- 35:43Speaker 4: for the offensive line coach, the running backs coach, the
- 35:46Speaker 4: offensive court to teach from.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Ye you get in all right.
- 35:49Speaker 6: I did think it got better throughout the game, no doubt,
- 35:51Speaker 6: no question, because at the beginning there was creases there
- 35:54Speaker 6: and probably to your point, you're not used to those
- 35:58Speaker 6: being there. You're used to trying to search patrol the
- 36:00Speaker 6: area for anything any daylight you can find. But then
- 36:03Speaker 6: they were able to stay on their track and just
- 36:06Speaker 6: actually hit it with their shoulder square towards the defense
- 36:10Speaker 6: and go and Kaden Durham made the adjustment during the game.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Yep.
- 36:13Speaker 4: And so like when I watch film, like I I
- 36:16Speaker 4: watch it like kind of emotionally, and I'm watching it
- 36:18Speaker 4: and then I try to take the emotions out after
- 36:20Speaker 4: a little bit, and so I'm like texting Jacob.
- 36:22Speaker 2: The whole time. I'm like, what are they doing? Blah
- 36:24Speaker 2: blah blah blah.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Yeah, text him like in the first quarter, second quarter
- 36:28Speaker 4: of me watching film yesterday and I'm like, man, what
- 36:30Speaker 4: Kayden Durham's missing some stuff?
- 36:31Speaker 2: Man, Like, what's going on with this guy? And then
- 36:33Speaker 2: all of a sudden second half Of'm like, oh, he's
- 36:34Speaker 2: got it. He found it.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Yeah, Like he did some of those reads that weren't
- 36:37Speaker 4: presenting himself again and had the best opportunity to just
- 36:40Speaker 4: be able to read a pure run this year, right,
- 36:42Speaker 4: So yeah, you got to You got to see it.
- 36:46Speaker 4: It's not like just something you can just go do.
- 36:47Speaker 4: You got to see it. And he started doing it.
- 36:49Speaker 4: He played a heck of a game in that second half,
- 36:51Speaker 4: and like I.
- 36:52Speaker 6: Was telling you too, every you know, every look, everyone's
- 36:55Speaker 6: going to be different. And I think running backs have
- 36:57Speaker 6: to understand that too. Even mentioned this on the call,
- 37:02Speaker 6: like when it is third and one, fourth and one
- 37:06Speaker 6: or whatever, like when you see like half of a
- 37:09Speaker 6: shoulder for a defense, or you see a crease, that's
- 37:12Speaker 6: what you take because you know that you're two hundred
- 37:16Speaker 6: plus pounds going full speed and you're gonna be able
- 37:18Speaker 6: to fall forward for the first down. Like early in
- 37:21Speaker 6: the game it was trying to hit the fourteen yard
- 37:24Speaker 6: run on fourth and one third more like whatever short
- 37:27Speaker 6: yard situation might have been, and like you have to
- 37:30Speaker 6: know the situation as a runner and look eventually, and
- 37:33Speaker 6: sometimes it happens on those third and ones because you're doing,
- 37:38Speaker 6: you know, the right thing by reading it, trying to
- 37:40Speaker 6: find the smallest crease you can just see. Then all
- 37:42Speaker 6: of a sudden you'll find that you're running through two
- 37:44Speaker 6: arm tackles and then you're to the second level before
- 37:47Speaker 6: you know it. But the goal of those runs is
- 37:50Speaker 6: to get the first down and then everything else is
- 37:53Speaker 6: laying yet like everything you get after that, that's a bonus.
- 37:57Speaker 2: And early in the game, I'm like, you start doing
- 38:00Speaker 2: in that little bit, and they did. So it was
- 38:01Speaker 2: good to see them.
- 38:03Speaker 6: Really for the first time, have that ability to go
- 38:06Speaker 6: out there, stay on their track, read their keys, hit
- 38:10Speaker 6: it full speed, and I improved throughout the game they did,
- 38:13Speaker 6: and I don't look the run blocking grades are much
- 38:15Speaker 6: better than the pass blocking grade.
- 38:16Speaker 4: Yes, like we're we're waxing poetically a little bit about
- 38:20Speaker 4: the run game because we kind of on the show
- 38:22Speaker 4: and everybody wanted to see a better running game, and
- 38:25Speaker 4: what are you going to do in the bye week?
- 38:26Speaker 4: So the things that we were hoping they would do,
- 38:29Speaker 4: I feel like got accomplished, and I feel like made
- 38:31Speaker 4: a lot of positive steps in the right direction in
- 38:34Speaker 4: the running game.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Now, when we come back and.
- 38:36Speaker 4: The rest of the show, like we're gonna start talking
- 38:39Speaker 4: about the passing game and the deficiencies we have there. Now,
- 38:42Speaker 4: there's some good. Okay, it's not all bad. It's not
- 38:45Speaker 4: all doom and gloom around here. However, there's some dooming guns. Yeah,
- 38:50Speaker 4: there is. There's some things that got to get better.
- 38:52Speaker 4: NUSS has got to get better. Receivers got to get better.
- 38:56Speaker 4: Protection's got to get better. Protection, calls and adjustments have
- 39:00Speaker 4: to get better. I'm gonna take a look at the
- 39:02Speaker 4: interception from Garrett Nesmyer, the first interception, okay, and.
- 39:04Speaker 2: How small a protection.
- 39:06Speaker 4: Small little ad lib on a protection adjustment, and if
- 39:11Speaker 4: he didn't do that, the interception doesn't happen. All right,
- 39:15Speaker 4: That's one little thing it's it's like that everywhere, one
- 39:18Speaker 4: little thing. Garrett might make a bad throw in the cross,
- 39:20Speaker 4: says aus bed throw, but it might be the receiver spot.
- 39:23Speaker 2: We're gonna take a look at it. Can we look
- 39:24Speaker 2: at that one play next? Oh? Absolutely, we'll do that
- 39:27Speaker 2: when we come back here on OTV. Off the bench,
- 39:31Speaker 2: all right?

- 41:10Speaker 2: Chuck j.
- 41:12Speaker 6: All right, uh, Matthew, Hey, what's up, Bud. You've got
- 41:16Speaker 6: four minutes.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Four minutes to wax poetically about this play? Sure, all right.
- 41:19Speaker 2: I don't know that you want to wax poetic about it,
- 41:21Speaker 2: but we're not going to.
- 41:22Speaker 7: Uh.
- 41:23Speaker 4: I just want to show kind of the listeners, like
- 41:25Speaker 4: how close things are, Like when you sit it's not
- 41:27Speaker 4: always what you see is what you get.
- 41:29Speaker 2: But it's a results oriented world.
- 41:30Speaker 4: It's a results oriented sport, especially when you play in
- 41:33Speaker 4: the SEC. Whether you're good or you're bad, you're great
- 41:37Speaker 4: or you're okay. It's the difference in some little little things,
- 41:41Speaker 4: and the little things make a big difference.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Wow. We came out of this place saying Garrett is terrible.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Wow what is he doing? But I want to see
- 41:48Speaker 2: I want you to watch this. So we have a
- 41:49Speaker 2: two bout two formation.
- 41:50Speaker 4: This is third and twelve, by the way, two minutes
- 41:52Speaker 4: I think twenty one seconds left in the second quarter,
- 41:54Speaker 4: so driving down great opportunity.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah. So we got a two about two little doubles
- 41:58Speaker 2: formation for those on the radio.
- 42:00Speaker 4: So what they're doing two about two formation double so
- 42:03Speaker 4: double left, whatever, a little stack to the top.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:06Speaker 4: So they line up the mic in the A gap,
- 42:08Speaker 4: so they got two three techniques on the defensive tackle.
- 42:11Speaker 4: So they got a little get the line the mic
- 42:12Speaker 4: right up against the center. So what we're gonna do
- 42:15Speaker 4: right here is we got four down linemen, we got
- 42:17Speaker 4: five offensive linemen, So five off offensive lineman gonna take
- 42:21Speaker 4: the four down linemen, right. Pretty obvious and also the
- 42:24Speaker 4: most dangerous. So we're gonna declare Mike in the middle.
- 42:27Speaker 2: We call that a five down. Yeah.
- 42:28Speaker 4: So basically this look starts to look like a bare front.
- 42:30Speaker 4: It's basically becomes like a five to zero type of
- 42:32Speaker 4: pass protection. Every man's everybody on the offensive linement has
- 42:36Speaker 4: a man. Okay, all right, now the back has everybody else.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Yep, all right.
- 42:40Speaker 4: I want to rewind a little bit here the back
- 42:43Speaker 4: during this pass play, the back's on the right side
- 42:45Speaker 4: of the formation. This is very important. The play calls
- 42:48Speaker 4: for the back to be on the right side of
- 42:49Speaker 4: the formation.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Yep.
- 42:50Speaker 4: It might seem like a little thing, but it's a
- 42:52Speaker 4: huge thing, and you're about to see why. All right,
- 42:54Speaker 4: we have the wheel linebacker. Oh, we can say the
- 42:56Speaker 4: Sam linebacker, Nicol Sam. He lines up and he looks
- 42:59Speaker 4: a little bit dangerous. He looks like he might be
- 43:01Speaker 4: able to come. So what does Garrett do. He looks
- 43:04Speaker 4: over whisper sweet nothing to the running backs of the
- 43:06Speaker 4: ear and told him to line up on the left. Yep, okay,
- 43:10Speaker 4: Well when he does that, all right, watch him right here.
- 43:12Speaker 4: He's gonna whisper to him get over there, over there,
- 43:13Speaker 4: because he wants him to get over there. A little
- 43:15Speaker 4: bit better protection. He even points at the guy. Yeah, yeah,
- 43:17Speaker 4: right there, You see this little point got him yep. Okay,
- 43:21Speaker 4: well the guy didn't come, and what happens. He's on
- 43:24Speaker 4: that side, so he gets a little confused maybe, and
- 43:26Speaker 4: he runs a route to the left side of the formation,
- 43:30Speaker 4: which he's not supposed to because the tight end's running
- 43:33Speaker 4: the flat route. Yeah, the tight end has flat control. Okay,
- 43:38Speaker 4: he's got a sneak. What does the mic linebacker do?
- 43:42Speaker 4: He drops towards the side of the running backs route.
- 43:45Speaker 4: The MIC linebacker drops to the left because the running
- 43:48Speaker 4: backs on the left, And who does Garrett have to
- 43:51Speaker 4: throw it over to hit this wide open receiver over
- 43:54Speaker 4: the middle back on the left or the linebacker. Okay,
- 44:00Speaker 4: he's got them watch it from the back. So number
- 44:02Speaker 4: zero right there. If eight runs his route right here,
- 44:07Speaker 4: he should be on the right side this whole pass concept.
- 44:10Speaker 4: He should be over here, either running to the flat
- 44:12Speaker 4: or spotting up right here. What happens, Zero would go
- 44:15Speaker 4: right there with him. Yeah, So the mic goes over
- 44:19Speaker 4: the passing lane. No, Smyer's got to try to throw
- 44:21Speaker 4: it over the time the mike gets in the passlane
- 44:23Speaker 4: because he's following the running right. Don't watch this still.
- 44:25Speaker 4: Don't love his feet, but his feet's out great. But look,
- 44:27Speaker 4: he has to throw it over zero because he's right
- 44:30Speaker 4: in the middle. If he's not there, that's an easy completion.
- 44:33Speaker 4: Does it over him? I throw interception. Yeah, it's the
- 44:36Speaker 4: little things out there, people, The little things make a
- 44:39Speaker 4: huge difference in football. Pass protection such an important thing.
- 44:42Speaker 4: I've seen it multiple times. Right now, we haven't made
- 44:45Speaker 4: the right mike adjustment, the mic call.
- 44:47Speaker 2: That's what we call it. Cross key.
- 44:48Speaker 4: Keep the back to the right, and if the guy
- 44:50Speaker 4: from the backside comes, he crosses over. It's called a crosskey.
- 44:53Speaker 4: You key your guy across the center. If he doesn't,
- 44:56Speaker 4: you stay on your route.
- 44:57Speaker 6: Yeah, so, so you have a flat to the right,
- 45:00Speaker 6: your route, that's the concept. Okay, when the quarterback moves
- 45:03Speaker 6: you to the left, Okay, you have to know that
- 45:05Speaker 6: doesn't mean I run a flat to the left. I
- 45:07Speaker 6: still have to get in the same window that I
- 45:09Speaker 6: was supposed to be in. And so we call that
- 45:11Speaker 6: a sneak. So you probably insert yourself in the A
- 45:15Speaker 6: or B gag. You might not sneak their way.
- 45:17Speaker 4: You might not a practice with a cross that shouldn't
- 45:19Speaker 4: even be an option. You should cross key the back right,
- 45:20Speaker 4: don't move him over to the left side.
- 45:22Speaker 6: Yeah, but if you do, the back also has got
- 45:24Speaker 6: to help him out and he's that's that's two wrongs
- 45:27Speaker 6: all now one because he's got to get out of
- 45:29Speaker 6: that window. All you gotta do is sneak across the
- 45:31Speaker 6: formation and chances are you're gonna be wide open yourself.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Two wrongs to make it right. Two wrongs make an interception,
- 45:36Speaker 2: oh man, a bad one. That's not good. So it's
- 45:39Speaker 2: just because to show you football is a game of inches.
- 45:41Speaker 2: We get it. We saw al Pacinos say that about say,
- 45:43Speaker 2: any given Sunday. There told you that Sunday, any given Saturday, here,
