- 0:00The integral Yoga operates on the principle of the Force
- 0:04descending from above and working through the mind, the
- 0:08emotions, the vital, and finally into the physical nature.
- 0:13While some action may take place in the sadhna out of a specific
- 0:17order, this is the general case, as the issue of addressing and
- 0:22definitively changing the embedded habits and
- 0:25predilections of the physical nature naturally is easier if
- 0:30the mind, the heart and the vital nature are all Co
- 0:34operating in the process. It thus frequently occurs that
- 0:39the seeker is encouraged and uplifted by experiences of
- 0:42peace, clarity, wideness, spiritual insights and
- 0:46experiences, devotion, consecration, et cetera, as the
- 0:51Force opens the higher levels. It is thus something of a shock
- 0:56when these things seemingly disappear and the physical
- 1:00nature comes to the forefront. One suddenly appears to lose the
- 1:05direct connection to the higher aspiration and the working of
- 1:08the force and faces a period which can be somewhat lengthy.
- 1:13When everything becomes a chore, when 1 feels like nothing is
- 1:18moving, when the seeker experiences waking, eating,
- 1:22working, sleeping with nothing to inspire or uplift him, the
- 1:27connection withdraws, and many have described such experiences
- 1:32as a dark night of the soul, or they cry out with soulful lament
- 1:38about the withdrawal of the Divine Beloved from immediate
- 1:42presence. It is important for the seeker
- 1:45to remember that this is a phase or stage that actually implies
- 1:51substantial progress has occurred.
- 1:54The physical nature is only taken up as a focus once
- 1:57preparation has occurred in the mind and the vital.
- 2:01The withdrawal is only apparent, not real.
- 2:06The Divine force continues to work even though the seeker only
- 2:10can see the full presence of the physical nature for the time
- 2:14being. Eventually, when enough has been
- 2:18prepared, the seeker will see a return of the palpable
- 2:22connection to the spiritual force and a progress at the
- 2:26level of the physical consciousness will have been
- 2:29made. This implies the seeker must
- 2:33continue to have confidence in the divine, patience for the
- 2:37time it takes, and peace as the process works itself out.
- 2:43To the extent possible, he should continue to focus on the
- 2:47aspiration and receptivity, even if it seems like it is not
- 2:52having any effect. No effort is without effect,
- 2:58Srioro Bindo writes quote. It is the most physical
- 3:02consciousness of which you have become aware.
- 3:05It is like that in almost everyone.
- 3:07When one gets fully or exclusively into it, one feels
- 3:11it to be like that of an animal, either obscure and restless or
- 3:15inert and stupid, and in either condition not open to the
- 3:20divine. It is only by bringing the Force
- 3:23and higher consciousness into it that it can fundamentally alter.
- 3:28When these things show themselves, do not be upset by
- 3:31their emergence, but understand that they are there to be
- 3:35changed. Here as elsewhere, quiet is the
- 3:40first thing needed to keep the consciousness quiet, not allow
- 3:45it to get agitated and in turmoil, then in the quiet to
- 3:50call for the Force to clear up all this obscurity and change
- 3:55it. End Quote Reference Srioro Bindo
