- 0:31[SPEAKER_03]: So I recorded a podcast with him.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: By the way, his name is Oliver George.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_03]: He told me before the show that our American way of pronouncing that name is Oliver, but over there.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_03]: the British way of saying it is Oliver.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_03]: So either way, Oliver Jordan is joining me or more more so I join him on the podcast.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_03]: So you guys are going to be able to see that conversation in its entirety throughout the week.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_03]: But today is part one is going to be split in the three different episodes for you guys.

- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: Hello everybody, join today by Josh from the Dogspot podcast, ventry so much for not just joining me, Josh, but working around all of the issues that I have had.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: Over the last few days, no broadband doing this on my phone network, which hopefully, hopefully holds up.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: It seems to be holding up pretty well so far.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully, we have no problems, but thank you so much for giving me some of your time to talk some Browns, Josh.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: First and foremost, as I always do before we get into Browns, how are you doing on this fine Sunday morning over there in Cleveland?
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: Oh man, I'll tell you what, first of all, we are no strangers to technical difficulties here on the dog's podcast.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: There's anyone who's watched our show knows over the years.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_03]: So totally understand that makes sense in Ohio today is a very weird day.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_03]: I'm glad you asked because where I'm at and for the majority of the state.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be like 80, five, 90 degrees.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so we went to Cleveland is like in the thirties.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_03]: A slew of like.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_03]: A slew of that, yeah.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's wild, but is that, is that noble for that to happen?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_03]: It anything's normal here in Ohio.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not kidding, but I think last week, we had a day where it was almost 80 degrees the next day, it was a snowstorm.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: You see, our British, we love to complain about the weather, but to be honest, talking to people like yourself, talking to people over in the States, it does make you realise that it's not actually that bad the weather over here.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: We, you know, it's consistently not great, but we don't quite have the variation that you guys have where it should be really hot or really cold.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna just in the middle, and that's a lot easier to prepare for and to deal with.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think, but who knows, maybe people in Canada or the Scandinavian countries have got something else to say about that.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: But...
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously going to talk some Cleveland Browns, go over a few topics with Josh, and first and foremost, I suppose to start with, we've had a lot of change in the last few months with this team.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: The most change since I've been following the Browns, I mean, you know, when I got into the Browns, it was pretty much every year that we were firing a coach and the GM.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: you know, a different group of guys every single year.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, the Kevin's defense, the Andrew Barry era has kind of been the longest kind of continuous group at the Browns since I've been a fan.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you know, you've been a fan longer than me.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure if it's the same for you.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: But, how do you kind of
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: not, you know, view it, but what's your thoughts on all of the change?
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I'm sure you're the same as me.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: You welcome the change, but do you think it's going to take a bit of getting used to with how much we've got used to the same names that we're in the building over the five years?
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now that's completely different.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_03]: of the change was much needed.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_03]: In my opinion, I know we were a little bit split on our podcast Blake was not in favor of firing Kevin Stephansky and a lot of the coaches.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_03]: Me, just in the other guys, Kenny Mac, very much ready for the change.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it was two straight seasons of terrible football.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_03]: especially on the offensive side of the ball, which is where a lot of my issues with the coaching staff came into play because we've got this head coach who's supposed to be an offensive guru offensive minded guy and you know he's turning over play calling duties now a couple of years and row we just found out yesterday on Jarvis Landry's podcast that he was actually turning over play calling duties to Alex Van Pelth.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_03]: when Jarvis was here, we didn't know that.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: That wasn't reported.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_03]: So that's interesting information and tidbits that are coming out on Landry's podcast.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_03]: That's fourth in South, I believe it's called.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't anybody wants to hear what Jarvis Landry has to say with his co-host Leonard Furnet, go check it out.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's good stuff.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_03]: The changes, I was a little apprehensive with the Todd Munken higher at first just because 60 plus year old head coach first timer, that has never worked out in the NFL.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_03]: But the more I've, and again, I kind of did the same thing with Ken Dorsey, so I caution myself of talking myself into how it can work when my initial reaction was.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_03]: I don't really like it.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_03]: But I do see, I do know that there is a lot of respect around the league for Todd Munk and a lot of coaches are very complementary of him, his offensive abilities.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_03]: Will it work as a head coach?
- 6:41[SPEAKER_03]: That is yet to be seen.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_03]: But with this head coaching cycle, I think it might have been the best choice for how the roster is looking right now.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_03]: And he's brought a lot of great coaches over from Baltimore, so I think that's encouraging.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_03]: And I think it will take a little time to get used to the names, who's in charge of what, who's handling what duties, but either way, we needed to change something, and I'm glad that they went that route.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I mean, that's that's the only annoying thing for me is that I had all of these names kind of etched into my brain that I've now got to relearn a whole new group of guys, thankfully some of them have obviously been here before with George Warholp et cetera and some of those other guys, but I was the same as you.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm sure you saw some of my tweets during the during the head coach in search.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: I've got a little bit ahead of myself, shall we say.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: and kind of lost a little bit a couple of the news that came out.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: I was the same with you.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, when Monkrum was hired, my first thought was, you know, same as you a 60 year old first time head coach, that's literally, you know, we're not, we're not talking about that rarely works.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: That has never in the history of the NFL as far as I can find has ever worked out.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: But in
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: Then I kind of thought, well, well, let me actually give it a little bit, you know, let me give it a couple of days to sit and brew.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: Let me see how I feel about it.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't the worst case outcome which in my opinion was Jim Schwartz.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: So let's see how we go and I think same with you as as every kind of past in week has gone on.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: I've kind of grown more.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: you know, fond of the higher, every time I hear him speech, I obviously, I've grown more fond of the higher, but is I think hearing the monkey's speech, you know, especially here in talk off-bents.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: for a team, as you mentioned, that has literally had the worst offence in the NFL for two years.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's like music to your ears, just hearing him talk offence.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: So is that gonna work as a head coach?
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: Well, obviously, have to wait and see, it's the Cleveland Browns history would suggest no.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: But if anyone has got to make it work, Todd Munkin seems like the kind of guy that can do that.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: And as you said, he's surrounded himself with a great coach in staff, which still got this great defense and pretty much all of the coaching staff
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully it does work out.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: We obviously then got to free agency and we've changed all of the coaching staff at another.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: big chains I suppose and one that we all, I assume as the same with you, welcomes is a big chains to this offense and obviously mainly the offensive line completely, you know, was it five new starters, four new starters, whatever people were talking about.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: What do you make of the offensive line signings in free agency?
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm going to include Titus Howard in that.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: I know obviously that was the trade technically.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: before free agency started.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: But I include that with that.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: So what do you think of the job that they've done with the resources that they had, bringing in Zion, Johnson, bringing in Titus Howard, out in Gentins, Resonant, Tevin Jenkins, who got two Jenkins on the line now.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: What was your thoughts on what they did on the offensive line?
- 9:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so this is it what I've been saying to, you know, you've got Cleveland mainstream media, Mary Kay, Tony Grossie, these guys are out there on Twitter and on the radio shows saying, well, Andrew Barry needs a lot of credit.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_03]: I got to give him a lot of credit for fixing this offensive line.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_03]: And the wording really rose me the wrong way.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_03]: Don't tell me they fix the offensive line until I see it on the field.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_03]: Are they doing is a injury berry for an office doing a good job approaching free agency with the offensive line bringing new players that have good potential to succeed?
- 10:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to say it's a win or an A plus free agency or anything until I see it on the field because it could go really bad too.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_03]: Titus Howard, like you said, Zion, Johnson, Tevin Jenkins, to me, it's it's okay, it's average.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think there's any superstar offensive linemen that we went out and signed or traded for.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think these are capable starters.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_03]: And I think a lot of it's going to have to do with the scheme.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of it's going to have to do with the offense.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_03]: These guys are asked to execute and the way they're coached up.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_03]: Because I'm still of the camp that I don't fully believe that Joel Batonio, Ethan Posick, Wyatt Teller, and Jack Conclin and Cornelius Lucas and all these other guys.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_03]: All of a sudden quit knowing how to play football all at the same time.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_03]: I think that there was some age that was involved in the decline.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_03]: But I do think a lot of it had to do with the offensive scheme and defenses having heads up on what we were trying to do in certain situations that just took our guys at a disadvantage.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_03]: The one I really do like is Elton Jenkins from the Green Bay Packers.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think as long as he comes off his injury from last year, okay, and he's back to a hundred percent for the start of the season.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think we got a really good one there.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_03]: I think his ability to play.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, everyone says all they got their new center.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_03]: He only played center last year.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_03]: He's played left tackle.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_03]: He's played the guard spots.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's a very versatile alignment that can.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_03]: And he said this, like I'll play wherever they need me to go.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's a great attitude.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_03]: Zion Johnson.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_03]: I know there's chargers fans out there on social media that are like, thank God, somebody else took this guy.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_03]: Get him off my team.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, oh, that's the kind of stuff we used to say about jet wheels and James Hudson.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_03]: He's got elite traits, and I know that's something Todd Munkin has said, just get me players that have at least one elite trait, and I can work with that.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_03]: So it's encouraging, and like I said, I'm going to look at it as an average revamp of the old line until we get to September, October, and kind of see how it actually plays out on the field.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I mean, that's not just with us and with the oil.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's with every thing with free agency and national media, not just, you know, not just our media, media from other teams.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: They all wanna do this.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, what would you grade this and what would you say?
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, well, we haven't even got to the draft yet, let alone the season.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really know how I can sit here in March and tell you that, yep, we've completely fixed the offensive line.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: We don't have to worry about the offensive line.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: As you said, that's just completely silly to do so.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Don't get me wrong.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the position that they were in, the players that were available in free agency, you'll never go into going get Joe Thomas in free agency.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: There's a reason why free agents are free agents and aren't on their team with a long-term contract.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's a reason why these guys become available.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: Most case scenarios, obviously a title in the bum becoming available is, you know, quite rare that someone top of their market becomes available.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: But a five-win team reset in the center market, 10 million above the previous record.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: as much as I love Tyler Lindobomb, I'm not sure that should have been our priorities, so I'm not as actually mad about that.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: But for me, same with you, as I said, I'm not going to sit here and try and tell people that yet we've fixed the offensive line, but I do think from, as I was saying, the position that we were in, the players that were available,
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I think we've taken the right step.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think we've made the moves.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we made more signings than I expected to be honest, I thought at least two, but maybe two, three, max.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: And they've ended up what, tight as Howard, Zion, Johnson, Elton, Jenkins, it's resign in seven Jenkins.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: We still don't even know what's going on with Joe Petonio.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: If he comes back, then obviously that would throw another kind of, not a wrench into the mix.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously that would be a bonus, but that would obviously make more,
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: more players available at that guard position.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: You said it with Elton Jenkins, everyone wants to say that's on new center.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: Both his pro bullseys and statement left guard.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's pretty much grated out better, pretty much at guard than any other position in his career.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I would be happy playing him at guard if obviously they're confident in Luke Whiplier.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: at center, maybe they go and draft the set now who knows.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I think until the draft, we can't really, as you said, we can't sit here and say, well, we fix the offensive line.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: There's still a lot of pieces that need to be done.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: But as I was saying, I do think that in the position that we were in, the players that were available, I'm happy with the moves that they've made.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I can see the kind of vision that what they're going for, bring in some athletes, bring in some guys that are available.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the biggest thing
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: of anything, you know, you said about the offensive line, did they just forget playing football?
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: No, but I think a big part of it was the injuries, a big part of it was just the turn table on that offensive line that, you know, Joel Batonio is good as he is.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: When you've got a different left tackle, that's to every single game, when you've got a different center on the inside of you, every single game,
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's quite hard to play at a consistent level.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: So bringing in Titus Howard, who's missed what two games in the last two years, bringing in Zion Johnson, I think's missed two games in his career.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone can talk about the charges offensive line last season.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they were pretty bad, but how much of that was missing there, two start in tackles for pretty much the whole season.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: Their center was...
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: pretty much missed quite a lot of the season as well, as Iron Johnson was the only one to play every game on that offensive line.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: So obviously when you're playing on an offensive line that isn't great and you've got the most snaps, it's easy to say, well this guy was bad, but I think a lot of that when you don't watch the film of him,
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: you know, you can tell that, you know, it's a guy that doesn't trust his left tackle and it's a guy that doesn't trust his center and is having to do quite a lot.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: So obviously, you know, the money is probably a little bit more than I would have liked, if you had said, Zion Johnson for what 49 million is it.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, not too sure about that, but, you know, once we look at the kind of numbers and the breakdown, it's basically what two years, 16 million.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: on the guarantees, so it's not as bad as it initially looks, but I'm a fan, I shall say of what they've done, because as I said, I think the position they were in, this was pretty much the most they could do, maybe they could have signed the Rashid War Club, but we also saw what he got in the end, clearly they weren't that interested, so I think where we're at right now is a good start and obviously we'll get into it in the coming.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_03]: in the common conversation about obviously what they do in the draft as well, but and you've gone over also on the offensive line or yeah exactly exactly what I want to say too I'm glad you brought up the injuries and signing and training for guys that have a history here of being consistently on the field.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_03]: That's a big deal.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_03]: Being available is definitely a big deal.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_03]: And it's important to remember to that the reason the Browns are in this situation, not just with the offensive line, but with the entire roster and how depleted we are at depth positions and across the offensive line and wider receiver and all this stuff.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_03]: Because Andrew Barry has really failed to bring in adequate
- 17:33[SPEAKER_03]: depth or players behind these guys that can step in.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we thought a zag zinter would be that type of player that, hey, once Joe Bittonio retires or Wyatt Teller's contract runs out zag zinter can take over.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_03]: Well, he hasn't done anything yet.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_03]: He can't even be active, let alone be on the field for this team.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_03]: Despite all the injuries, that's what was crazy last year.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_03]: This team had so many injuries on the offensive line and we're bringing in practice squad guys to play.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_03]: in the interior because Zack's enter can't get on the field.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_03]: So it's very worrisome.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_03]: You got Luke Whippler who's now he's hurt every year to Juan Jones hurt every year.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_03]: It's a it's just disappointing that we're in this situation.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_03]: I'm really hoping he can fix it because I don't know how many seasons he has left.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_03]: If you ask me, my opinion in Andrew Barry is pretty low right now because over six years, the roster has fallen apart and from what it was in 2020 when he came in here and took over.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_03]: So that's, it is concerning to me, but I know last year was a good off season, a good draft.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_03]: He needs a good draft this year as well.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I mean, you said it that it should have never got to this point.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: We should have never got to a point where we're going right.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_00]: We have to literally completely rebuild the offensive line.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: And as you said there, everyone was talking about five starters, but that's okay, but if we bring in five starters, who's the backups?
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: We've all seen this offensive line.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we've all seen this offensive line in the last, I mean, not just two seasons, the last three seasons, even the playoff season in 2020, 23.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: the injuries have just mounted up and you can say it's luck or whatever, there's clearly a link between the injuries on the offensive line and what was going on and to get into a position where we're not just having to completely replace the starters.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: We need to completely replace everything.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: We might need eight new offensive linemen, and you should never ever corner yourself into a position where you're having to do that.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: So as much as, you know, he can have gone and signed five Hall of Fame on the offensive line, that still doesn't justify the fact that we got to this point.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: And you kind of mentioned that earlier with, you know, on your show, having a little bit of a disagreement about Stephansky,
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I've been a big fan of Stefans Di over the years.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: I was ready for him to go.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: I made that very clear.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think that, you know, that his time had expired, not necessarily because I think he's a terrible head coach.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: I just think what he was doing here wasn't working.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I think probably you have the same kind of opinion as me, which was, I don't quite understand how Kevin Stefans delost his job, but Andrew Barry kept his job.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: when they're kind of part and parcel both responsible for what we've seen over the last few years.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_00]: So don't get me wrong.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a big fan of what he does in terms of the finances.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a big fan in terms of the casher over cap model.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's sector etc.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: My biggest worry of getting rid of an Andrew Barry is if you'd bring someone in with a different philosophy on finances,
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we've got a lot of dead chat, but a lot of void years, and then that's what five, six years that need to be managed.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: And if it's not managed by someone that has that expertise in it, then that should go south pretty quickly.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: But that shouldn't be enough to justify doing bad every other area of your job.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: So you said it there, Andrew Berry has got a big year ahead of him.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a big off season ahead of him.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: We both spoke about how, you know, yes, he's made
- 20:58[SPEAKER_00]: And we need another, we need a non-five-win disaster a season for him to be still safe in his job.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously to feel safe going forward with the new coaching staff as well.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_03]: This episode is partnered with Kaoshi.

- 21:31[SPEAKER_03]: With Kaoshi the objective is either yes or no.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_03]: Will Shidorah Sanders be the Browns week one starting quarterback?
- 21:38[SPEAKER_03]: Will Fernando Mendoza be the first overall pick in the draft?
- 21:41[SPEAKER_03]: Will the Browns make their pick at six or will they trade out of that spot?
- 21:44[SPEAKER_03]: And in other sports, will the calves win the NBA Finals?
- 21:47[SPEAKER_03]: You can put your money on these predictions and more with Kalshi if you want to try it out.

- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: quickly on the on the other couple of other free agents that we got Quincy Williams.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yes, could it could have definitely could have found a worse replacement for Devin Birch.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: What's your thoughts on the Quincy Williams signing?
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pumped about Quincy Williams.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_03]: He's the one free agent signing that got me.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_03]: I's big, excited when I saw the notification, I was like, yes, because we did free agency preview episodes on our podcast, breaking down guys that we wanted the Browns to go target for agency and could potentially bring in here.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_03]: And I highlighted Quincy Williams as a guy if they didn't bring back Devon Bush, who I wanted.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_03]: But if you couldn't get him or the money just didn't work out, I figured, well, Quincy Williams is going to be around a similar contract and if you're willing to pay Devon Bush, that sort of a contract, but he doesn't want to come back or you can't get him.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_03]: go after Quincy Williams because this dude is a game record and I'm excited to see what he can do in that linebacking unit with Carson Swesinger manning down the middle.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_03]: It's I think it's going to be exciting to watch.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I think everyone would have loved to resign Devon Bush.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, what he's done the last two years, I mean, he's essentially saved his NFL career if we're being completely honest.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he had a great, great season in Pittsburgh.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: And then obviously, kind of just went downhill, looking like he was gonna be out of the league, soon or rather than later.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: So for him to come here and essentially,
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: turn his career around revamp his career.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really happy for him.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: He goes and gets a long term free year for Eplus million contract in Chicago.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's great for him.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: I would have loved to keep him.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we got Carson's question.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: Do we got Captain America?
- 25:25[SPEAKER_00]: Shall we say the raining defensive rookie of the year deservedly so in the matter what Seattle Seahawks fans try and tell us.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when you have that player already in the building, are you willing to give that kind of money and that kind of contract to his kind of rob-in?
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: Shall we say?
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you are.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: So if you are able to get a Quincy Williams who I don't think the drop-off is
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: even big at all.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if Quincy Williams didn't get anything back to his 2020 free form, it's an improvement.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_00]: Let alone a drop off and you'll get in him cheaper and you'll get in him for less years.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: There's less obviously commitment in it.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, we've all seen the footage of him and new Browns defensive coordinator.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: obviously how much of a fan they are both of each other they can't speak highly of each other so I'm pretty sure you know once they've figured out that Dev and Bush wouldn't be coming back they probably went over to Ruth and Berg and said right is there any any line back of the you know that you would want to bring in and I'm sure he just went Quincy Williams Quincy Williams Quincy Williams going get him no matter how you can so I think that
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's another thing of the signing as well, you know, you spoke about the player, obviously, if he can get to his former 2020 free, that's absolutely massive.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_00]: But I think just a familiar currency with the new defensive coordinator, who he's got a lot of new guys that he has to get used to.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: He has to build relationships with on this defense.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: who can be a good bridge for that and someone that can help with that within the locker room, Quincy Williams can do that.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's a really good sign.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I was the same with you.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: When I saw it, I was like, wow, okay, that's a really good sign.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: Same with the old convention sign.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, we haven't had many of those the last.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: quite a few years.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's kind of why I didn't expect the brands to be as active as they were, because I mean, last year we got what, like, the Malik Collin sign in and that was pretty much it.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: So to see these two come through, I was like, yep, that's, you know, that's a really good sign.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: It was a big fan of that.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_00]: I won't go into the others, because one wasn't a city, it would spend 10 minutes about a block in tight end.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, just always, it's your new inline block in tight end guys.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_00]: If he gets a, it
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: becomes that third guy, but I expect into probably be that number two.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's the Harold fan in.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_03]: I hope you guys enjoyed the first part of my conversation with all of her.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_03]: There's going to be two more episodes coming out later this week with the rest of that conversation.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_03]: Really good stuff.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_03]: Some really good viewpoints.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_03]: And no, we don't both agree on absolutely everything we are going to get into some things where we do have the differing viewpoints on how the Brown should approach primarily the draft.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: So that's going to be a big topic of conversation coming up next.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_03]: So stay tuned for that.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: before we get out of here today we got a voicemail from our girl Stacy so let's hear what she has to say.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: Hey guys it's Stacy.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't get a chance to get in on the discord live episode the other day I was at work so didn't get a second to get in there but I was able to listen to it and I just kind of wanted to throw on my two cents a little bit for the conversation about cardaltate and
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: if he wasn't in Ohio State receiver, then maybe we would be talking differently about him.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: My two cents with that is I think the reason why we talked differently about him is exactly that because he isn't Ohio State receiver and he's coming from Ohio State where truthfully I think that team, I mean as we've seen in the past with their receivers, the receivers
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: receivers like that across a lobby.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: Those receivers, I feel, and again, this is just my opinion.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: I feel those receivers would be number one receivers on another team and the fact that they are on Ohio State and some of them are number two receivers.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's why they're being projected so high in the draft.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like I understand we're from Ohio.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be on Ohio State homers.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: But I think we have a very good reason to be, like look at the stats and
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: passed and how it's gone for Ohio State receivers.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I just think at six, it's completely silly to pass up on Carnotate if he's there.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_03]: Stacey, I got to tell you, I really, I, I texted Justin Mealy after the discord show last week and I said, man, I feel really bad for Stacey.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_03]: She had her hand up twice in there and freaking brat money maker and Andrew Jackson just kept going back and forth, throwing blows at each other and then Andrew wanted to come in and tell us that Cardinal Tate is not a good wide receiver.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_03]: We just think he is.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_03]: We are being mind-eft into believing this guy is a number one receiver over the best receiver in this class, just because he went to Ohio State.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_03]: I am with you, Stacy.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, the old trope, and I'm just messing with you, Brad and and Andrew, you guys know I love you.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_03]: But it's always said every year, scout the player, don't scout the helmet.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I scouted the player.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_03]: The player's really freaking good, and then you add in the fact that the helmet tells you, he's going to be a good NFL-wide receiver, and that makes car notate.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_03]: My number one receiver in this class, hands down, you know, at the same sort of sediments and conversations where I had around those other guys, you just mentioned.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_03]: The biggest one that I can think of
- 30:51[SPEAKER_03]: I guess the biggest two, the first one was Jackson Smith and Jigba.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_03]: Why'd receiver for the Seattle Seahawks coming out of college?
- 30:57[SPEAKER_03]: It was, I don't know if this guy can be a number one.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_03]: Why'd receiver?
- 31:01[SPEAKER_03]: He was primarily a slot receiver at Ohio State.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_03]: He didn't face the best competition from the opposing defenses, because he had,
- 31:11[SPEAKER_03]: Marvin Harrison, Jr. Chris Olov, a gear Wilson on the field with him at the same time, over his seasons there, and then his final season in college, he missed pretty much the entire year with a hamstring injury.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_03]: So it was coming out of college, there were big question marks about Jason.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if people really remember that because he just went and won offensive player the year this year, led the entire NFL in all the receiving stuff.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_03]: He was the best receiver in the league this year.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_03]: But it was his third year.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_03]: See, I tell people all the time.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody wants to point to Jamar Chase.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_03]: Well, if he's not Jamar Chase, you can't take him in the top six.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_03]: So you telling me if a guy isn't the one biggest outlier in the last what seven or eight years that you can't take him, that's the dumbest argument I've ever heard.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_03]: Jamar Chase is a complete outlier.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_03]: Justin Jefferson, complete outlier.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_03]: These guys typically don't come into the NFL and produce at over all wide receiver one marks right away as a rookie.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_03]: That just doesn't happen.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_03]: They are outliers for a reason you look at a guy like Jason.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_03]: took him three years.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_03]: He didn't really explode onto the scene until year three.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_03]: And that's what he just did.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_03]: You look at guys like Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson that you mentioned.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_03]: We had those conversations about those guys coming out of Ohio State back when they were drafted.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_03]: Can they truly be a number one Roger Seaver on an NFL offense?
- 32:37[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they were on the field.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_03]: They shared the field pretty much their entire college careers together.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_03]: Can they be number, yes, they can absolutely be number one, wide receivers for their team.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_03]: Terry McLean was drafted in the third round, came in and immediately was a wide receiver.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_03]: One for his team out of Ohio State.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_03]: Never the one, not even close to being the number one receiver for the buck guys when he played in Columbus.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_03]: Here we are, another Ohio State receiver coming out.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_03]: And the big thing with Carnell Tate and I keep talking about this and I didn't plan on talking about it this long, but Stacey, you got me going about my bug guy guy here.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_03]: Carnell Tate.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_03]: 2.27 career yards per route run.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_03]: That is a very high mark.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_03]: That is excellent.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_03]: Really, you know, last year, and people, I know we had this conversation on that discourse show and I think Andrew was really misinformed about Carnell Tates career at Ohio State and his age because he started throwing around Xavier Leggette as a comparison as far as being a late breakout.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_03]: Xavier Leggette was like 23 years old
- 33:45[SPEAKER_03]: on the field.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_03]: Karnel Tate last year, as a 19 year old in 2024, 733 yards on 52 receptions for four touchdowns, and that was on the field with a Mecca Eggbook and Jeremiah Smith.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_03]: So that is a very, to me, that's a breakout.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: That is, that is a breakout for a guy.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_03]: Operating as the third option and maybe even the fourth option in the offense because they had Traveoon Henderson out of the back field.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_03]: They like the throw the ball to as well.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_03]: Still put up almost 750 yards.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_03]: And that was his first season starting for the buck guys.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_03]: That's very impressive to me.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_03]: And then this year, rolls right into that, you know, one A1 B roll with Jeremiah Smith, 51 catches eight 75 through the air and nine touchdowns and the deeper metrics I've gone over them a million times, but why I'm so intrigued and why I want Colonel Tate so badly?
- 34:46[SPEAKER_03]: 3.02 yards per route run.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_03]: He's the only one of three receivers in this draft class to get over three yards per route run.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_03]: You know I want my guys.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_03]: If I'm taking a guy this high, I want him at least at 2.5.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_03]: Cardinal tape was over three super impressive zero drops.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_03]: That to me is the big one.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_03]: The dude doesn't drop the ball and he has an 85.7% contestant catch rate.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_03]: They were chucking the ball down the field, throwing up 50-50 balls to him and he was coming down with almost every single one of them and didn't drop.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_03]: a single pass.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_03]: Now, if you wanted to knock on him a little bit, he doesn't, or at least in college didn't offer a whole lot after the catch, just six missed tackles forced, not a ton of yards after the catch, 231 that was good for 4.5 yards after catch per reception.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_03]: Again, that can be understood based on the way he was utilized in his play style.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_03]: There aren't a lot of yards after the catch to be had when you're catching deep passes in the end zone.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_03]: When you're catching deep passes down the sideline as soon as you catch the ball, you're pushed out of bounds.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_03]: You're going up for 50-50 balls soon as you catch the ball you come down on your back because you're getting tackled as you're catching the ball There aren't a lot of yards after catch opportunities in those situations now.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_03]: Do I think he can be utilized in the intermediate area of the field and win in that area of the field?
- 36:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I do
- 36:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I do.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_03]: I am a big fan of Cardinal Tate.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm telling you guys right now, you can book mark this episode.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_03]: You can keep the receipts and come back at me later if I am wrong.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_03]: But I don't think I'm going to be hearing that from you because I'm going to say right now.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_03]: If the Browns pass on Cardinal Tate whoever drafts him, you are going to see him ascend at the NFL level because everything he does well in college, the way he wins.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_03]: his route nuance the way that he creates separation and wide open windows based on his route running not a speed because remember I keep seeing people say oh well he doesn't have sub 4 4 speed he can't be an elite receiver.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to say brown pooka into kua, Mike Evans, CD lamb, the list goes on and on of these guys who ran in the 4 5s.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_03]: Colonel Tate was a 4 5 too.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_03]: He's right there with a CD lamb as far as speed.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'm pretty sure C the lamb is fast and can get open.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_03]: That is carnal tape.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_03]: That's how he wins.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_03]: And those things that he does well translates right into the NFL.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not concerned one bit.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_03]: I'm telling you guys, he will end up being a wider receiver one for whatever team drafts him if the giant's draft in, then he's going to be
- 37:22[SPEAKER_03]: In the conversation for Widersever 1 with Malik neighbors on that roster, I think if he goes somewhere that already has an established Widersever 1, OK, maybe he doesn't lead the team in target share and things like that because they've already got a guy.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_03]: That's the only situation where I could see him not being the target share leader, target earn lead target earner yards leader, all that stuff on an NFL offensive.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_03]: The commanders took him at seven and he was kind of playing the one B with Terry McLean.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_03]: He won't be the target leader until Terry McLean either leaves or retire because he's what 30 years old.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_03]: So he's toward the end of his prime anyway.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_03]: But if he goes to a team where he like the Titans, where he's the clear number one,
- 38:03[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to be the clear number one, and you guys will see that.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_03]: So Stacy, thank you for the voicemail.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_03]: Again, we're going to try to get our discord shows a little more organized where people come up, get the questions asked a little quicker, and we can move through more of you guys on the show because I hate seeing hands go up in the chat.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_03]: and then not be able to get to you guys.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_03]: So I do appreciate you following up with the voice mount.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_03]: I'm glad we got to talk a little more here about Carnell Tate because on the next episode, at least on the next part of my conversation with the UK Browns fan, we dive into that.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_03]: We dive into the draft and off ends of tackle versus wide receiver, Monroe Freely versus Carnell Tate, Mackay Lemon, Jordan Tyson, all this stuff.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_03]: So
- 38:45[SPEAKER_03]: Check it out.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_03]: Stay tuned.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you guys for joining the episode here today following us on all the socials.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_03]: And again, if you want to be part of that dog pack discord community, head over to join the dogs dot com.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see you over there.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for everything you guys do in supporting the show.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_03]: Cannot tell you how much we appreciate it more than than we do.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_03]: So thank you again.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_03]: See you guys in the next one.
