- 0:07[SPEAKER_07]: And it says, mind the size, six to six.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_05]: But you see this YouTube studio, you're like, I made six cents.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_07]: I made six cents, I can make six dollars, $100.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_07]: Every month I was on average doing, I'm 60 to 70 bands.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_06]: It's funny how life works like that when you lock in, you're automatically attracting people that's locked in.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_07]: Right, anybody is trying to make it with no bread, you have to find like-minded people.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_07]: You have to find people that's just like you, they have no money.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_07]: They can pay you in effort and you pay them effort.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_06]: What's your ultimate goal?
- 0:37[SPEAKER_07]: The ultimate goal is to make film.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_07]: I want people to look at my films as classics, like the Fridays and the Don't Be a Menaces and Boys in the Hoods.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_07]: So my goal is to make films like that that people talk about 30 years later.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_07]: The 30th anniversary of this film.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_07]: Do what you can.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_07]: Don't wait for the Don't Be Perfect.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_07]: Be consistent.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_06]: Welcome to another edition of the social proof podcast.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_06]: We find dope people to do dope stuff, man.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_06]: And I gotta tell y'all, this person that it's on the couch is literally one of my favorite creators, where I'm like, top three.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_06]: And I've seen a lot of creators, right?
- 1:14[SPEAKER_06]: I know a lot of creators, but when I came across your content, I was so like enamored.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_06]: I'm like first off, how is this so funny and witty at the same time?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_06]: And I'm just, I'm binging, I'm binging, binging, binging, but the coolest thing I saw was you had a bunch of characters in the shows.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_06]: But then I saw each one of those characters had their own stuff and y'all would be in theirs and it was just this beautiful network of these LA creators that are all in each other's content and it was all fire.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_06]: So me watching you made me go find other people and I started like really binging a stuff.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_06]: And it was just incredible man.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_06]: Big jaws in the building man.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_07]: Welcome to the show going on, man, for the change.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, bro.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_06]: Everything's good, man.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_06]: I, I've heard the first time I met you.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, sir.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_06]: We went to the, we went to the, some low restaurant.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_06]: He told me to wear the yard house and burn the first time.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_06]: We went to the restaurant.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_07]: But why don't you homeboy?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not going to lie.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_06]: I was fan in love with it.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_06]: It's all love bro.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_07]: I was crazy and that was years ago, years and then you didn't have this, no, no, no, no.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_07]: You was cracking, no, you was doing the thing.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_07]: I found you and you didn't know that I was, I followed you.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_07]: Mm-hmm.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_07]: I think that's what, and then you DM me right to that.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I was scrolling and I came across one of your videos and I was, oh, I like what he's saying.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't know you, I did my first time ever seeing your content and I thought it was dope and I was like, I liked it.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_07]: And you know, I scroll down again and usually what I do when I look not when I scroll down and I see two or three pieces of someone's content that I like.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_07]: I have to double tap.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_07]: I was like let me follow this person.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_07]: And off the first time, the first two or three videos I've seen, I was like, what are you saying?
- 3:00[SPEAKER_07]: I would be there in the room listening to him if I was that, if I had the opportunity.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_07]: And I, I saved.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, yeah, I followed you and then within like 10 minutes, I got a DM, you like, hey man.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_06]: I saw the follow.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_07]: I saw the follow.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_06]: Big John's power, I was so proud.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_06]: I was fendin' love it.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_07]: I got holdin' so good.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_07]: I was an instant fan, too, though.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_07]: I was like, man, I like what you're sayin' in the videos, bro.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_07]: What's going on?
- 3:22[SPEAKER_07]: How are you doin'?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_07]: Can you check it up?
- 3:24[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know how long it was after that, but you was in that, like, and you think, man, I'ma be in town, man, let's have lunch or something.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I pulled up, and we met up at the R-house.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, sir, sir, we drove away, and we chopped it up, and
- 3:39[SPEAKER_07]: a slew of questions and conversations and it was the man we and we weren't being that day Yes, sir.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_06]: I'm so glad you hear me because I haven't we see your content But I haven't really got your story like that.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_06]: You know, we've had conversations in terms of going through the marriage and all that kind of stuff But I really want to know how you got start first off.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_06]: Let's start here
- 4:02[SPEAKER_06]: You have, like, how many of you are YouTube for those that don't know, like, I want to talk about what you've built.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_06]: What are some of the things that you brag on?
- 4:11[SPEAKER_07]: Real quick, I think we did do a video or we did an interview when we first met.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_07]: Within the first year that we knew each other, I came about the ATL.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_07]: And we told them, I want to say, I want to say six years ago, right?
- 4:26[SPEAKER_07]: It was 29th, it had to be, and I don't think it was video, it was just audio, it was audio, yeah, yeah, that's how long it was, you're right, bro, it was in the small room, it was in the room, you had your right, I don't know the coast, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to, I don't know how to
- 4:44[SPEAKER_07]: I think so.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, Daniel, it wasn't even a video.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_07]: We had no cameras up.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_07]: It was just audio.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_07]: You was like, man, I just want to get the story.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_07]: I remember that.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_07]: It was a long time ago.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_06]: Long time ago.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_06]: We brought up their audience now.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_07]: So yeah, so we can start as if we, as if we just not just met, but like, yeah, I don't even remember that we'll be talked about.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_07]: So yeah, this is this is the official one.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_06]: So for those that don't know, what are some of the accolades, some of the things that you accomplished?
- 5:10[SPEAKER_07]: Um, I will say, uh, oof, uh, I think my first type of success was on my first viral video.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_07]: was all IG, but it was mostly, it was simultaneously on Facebook.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_07]: Um, type berries, back in like 2017.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_07]: I was doing, I was doing sketches for years before that, but I was never consistent.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_07]: I never really had any direction.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_07]: What I wanted to do and so I was say 2017's with things really took off for me And I really got serious and I was consistent.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_06]: Well, what year did you start creating?
- 5:52[SPEAKER_07]: The Beyoncé if I if I'm talking about doing I was on sketches before you to be very existing really yeah I was doing I remember in high school man first time I grabbed a camera it was on my high school recruiting trip
- 6:04[SPEAKER_07]: Football recruiting tree and now I took a camera to To the bay to you see Berkeley where I ended going.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_07]: I was taking my my coach drove me up there and we met I met the team and I Spent a weekend up that week up I spent a weekend up in the Oakland Berkeley area And I took a camera I had a there's a video class in my high school that never knew about I went to the high school I was just about to graduate that following that semester
- 6:31[SPEAKER_07]: and I'll come across this video class.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_07]: I saw these cameras in the video, I mean, in TV's in the room, I was like, what's this?
- 6:38[SPEAKER_07]: This is a video class.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_07]: I said, what kind of video class?
- 6:41[SPEAKER_07]: And I was always into movies and stuff like that, but I had no outlet.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_07]: I had nowhere to know.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't have no camera.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_07]: I always walk around taking pictures.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_07]: That was like, even since middle school, I had this camera that my dad had, and I was like, we'll go to like, thrifties or something like that, and get like a, a roller film and put it in.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_07]: So I was always taking pictures.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_07]: I couldn't afford a real camera now to take the film to somebody to get out of the home to get back in a couple of days.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_07]: It was that situation.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_07]: So I thought this video class I saw and she explained to me that you can like rent the camera equipment.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_07]: So you can rent it.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_07]: How much does it cost?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_07]: I know money.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_07]: She was like, I know it's free.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_07]: You just got to give us your A is B card.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_07]: I'm saying like the little ID card for the high school.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_07]: And that's it.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_07]: But it was Friday.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_07]: I was going to really go to the Bay that
- 7:27[SPEAKER_07]: And so she's like now you can use it this weekend.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_07]: I can take it right now.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, give me an idea.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_07]: I said really she gave me a camera with two with two VHS tapes blank tapes back then they were you had a big big camera show.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's 1999.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_07]: I'm in high school.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a 17 and no, and I'm like, man, I could take it right now.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_07]: I took it.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_07]: She showed me how to use it a quick crash course.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_07]: Well, how to how to how to
- 7:50[SPEAKER_07]: to operate the camera, took it like 10 minutes, I learned it, and I took it up to the Marvel crew didn't trip, and that's now what I was like, this is what I want to do.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_07]: If you're going to be football, it's going to be camera, it's going to be filmmaking.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_06]: But before that, you're thinking, I'm going to NFL.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, for sure.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe you want to take this trip, maybe I want to be a creator.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, on that trip, I was like, man, I want to do this.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_07]: So if football and also the reality of not making it and if it was there But I'm like, well, I'm gonna go play football for 10 years Become a Hall of Famer retire and then I'm gonna go into the filmmaking I'm gonna buy me and let me learn how to make film now.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_07]: So I go to college
- 8:30[SPEAKER_07]: And then all kind of work together.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_07]: I was going to play with Cal.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_07]: I was going to play here at Cal.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_07]: I already my first time filming like I filmed the whole weekend.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_07]: As anybody didn't let me back there.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_08]: What was your film?
- 8:41[SPEAKER_07]: Everybody, I was interviewing students.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_07]: And now mind you, it's a recruiting trip.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_07]: So the same weekend that my recruiting trip for football was a program at Cal called BRC, BRRC, Black Recruitment and Retention Center.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_07]: And that was basically American, I mean, the African student union, ASU.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_07]: So this is the black kids on campus that were recruiting other black students from different parts of the country, my school.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_07]: So I was like two recruiting trips.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_07]: So I went up there to see how the campus was and how the black population was, at Cal, along with like the white population in the others as well.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_07]: But also the same weekend, it was a football recruiting trip as well.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_07]: So
- 9:19[SPEAKER_07]: I filmed everybody.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_07]: I'm an interviewer and people who was coming from different parts of the country to come up for the same program, the same event, some people were from the base, some people were from LA, it was, I was like, so what's your name when you're from and what you're going to major in when you get here, if you do come here, I was doing that.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_06]: Have you always been like funny like that personality?
- 9:37[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_06]: So you just in there while I ask him off the wall.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah,
- 9:41[SPEAKER_07]: I'm fluent with the girls and so forth there.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_07]: And I still got that video tape.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_07]: Really?
- 9:44[SPEAKER_07]: I gotta convert it to digital.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_07]: I gotta get converted to like the computer.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_07]: But like I still got this 99, you see the stamp and you see like the gas prices.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_07]: Gas prices like a dollar 10.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_07]: Back one day.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_07]: I got an old video tape of, uh,
- 9:58[SPEAKER_07]: They might be on it too and saying me and my manager me really we went.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_07]: That's how we meant we met in college Wow, he's a year ahead of me, so I was afraid to get it done.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_06]: I want to I want to pass that in a little bit through this video We can get it done.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_07]: I got I can't believe you haven't converted it No, I know.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_07]: I know that's the one thing that his name be only on my head about my man Get things done.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_07]: I should have been converted it and it's I'm out of the name.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_07]: I know it.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_07]: It was an I could have been done
- 10:24[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and it's probably a program, it's probably like a device that you can just put it a VCR Connected to the computer now.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, it's very dropped it off to somebody that does stuff.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's that simple and I live in LX Yeah, 100% please not gonna go.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, to get that down.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_07]: Well, yeah
- 10:39[SPEAKER_07]: So you you're doing these interviews just just while now having a good talk right and I'm loving it and I of course I'm asking people questions about if he was an actress what would you do to a favorite movie Anything give me a give me a scene for your favorite movie and they ask I might go an action I'm just the I'm saying so I do it.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_07]: I say I love this
- 10:59[SPEAKER_07]: And you did you already grow up in love with movies where you were a big movie But yeah, my uncle had like the laser disk back in the day Yeah, you know, saying some people don't even know a laser disk is a big ass CD But it's like for us and I will go to his house.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_07]: He had all the new releases And if he didn't have an laser disk, he had a VHS So then he movie that came out within the month within a week or so.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_07]: He had his own VHS Yeah, I'm so I'm going to his house and he had like a library of movies.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_07]: It's almost like a
- 11:27[SPEAKER_07]: It's big screen, and he had these cabinets, and it was all coated, and it was all, it was all structured by a date, you know what I'm saying?
- 11:38[SPEAKER_07]: New releases, and it was like a, like going to Buckbuster.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_07]: And I was open, I would watch all the movies, and it was the movie that wasn't supposed to watch, you know, like radar, he was saying, at night time I'm going in there, everybody sleep on me, and in the living room watching it.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_07]: And my dad was a artist, he was illustrator, so he drew, and he made jewelry, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, silverware, and he'd make a ring or a bracelet, I don't know, like a fork, but I was like, I wish I could show you what he did.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_07]: I could, too, if I brought it with me, but like, my dad was very creative, so is he still around?
- 12:05[SPEAKER_07]: And he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he passed, he
- 12:17[SPEAKER_06]: So after this, this recruiting trip you go back obviously you do nothing with the footage.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_07]: No, we was doing pranks and then I did not get the college and my birthday I turned 18 That was like I was probably young as doing the team.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_07]: I was the youngest one team I was 17 when I got the college and my mom bought me a camera for my team birthday Hmm, and I didn't even know it was she it was like a what kind of camera like the handicapped The handicapped Sony yeah, and the eight millimeter yeah, yeah, and so that was the best person I ever got in my life
- 12:48[SPEAKER_07]: at the time, and probably still, you know what I'm saying?
- 12:52[SPEAKER_07]: But like, and I never, we can never afford a camera.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_07]: And, um, but she knew it, she knew that's what I wanted to do.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_07]: I was talking about them, I loved, I got a camera.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_07]: I've written them on from college, from high school, and then she saw my 18th birthday, and she got me like this every year, my birthday is in December.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_07]: So every year, she gets me a calendar, because she said, you got a right thing to stand on, so I put it in the calendar, you know what I'm saying?
- 13:14[SPEAKER_07]: Now, the name is that guy, man.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_07]: He was like, hey, man, you got to write everything now so you can know, remember what to do and all that stuff and what time to do it?
- 13:21[SPEAKER_07]: My mom would give me a calendar that I would open it up.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_07]: So basically it was the year 2000.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I'm saying?
- 13:28[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm 18 now.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_07]: I'm about to be, it's 18.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_07]: I turned 18 right before the year 2000.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_07]: And inside the calendar, she opened it up and it was a sticker.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_07]: I taped a coupon for the camera.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_07]: Hmm, and something I'm just getting this I'm cool.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_07]: I'm growing now.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_07]: So yeah, I ain't only in the toilets So I'm I'm thinking this is all she gave me from my birthday and I opened up to calendar and it has like The receipt to the camera.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_08]: I was like, let's do this
- 13:59[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and as you put it out from like the behind the vitals of Christmas tree or something like that, I'll let you hear it.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_07]: So now I don't have to rent a camera anymore.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_07]: I went back to college that to second semester as a second year freshman, and I had that camera in.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_07]: Anybody that knows me back then, he even gave a name, but yeah, I was always to do it with big ass, the Afro, walking around or braze, I'm filming everything now, and I'm shooting sketches with my teammates and I'm in the locker room and I got all that.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_07]: Well, even, I didn't even know what they were called back then.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_07]: I was just having the homie, or mostly, it was probably more documentary style than anything.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_07]: I'm just walking into the room and the homie's just playing 2K, a play in Madden, and they just talking.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_07]: And so I'm allowed to go back and sift through with the hell.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_06]: We're watching.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_06]: Right, you are going to be floored when you see that stuff.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_07]: I'm telling my 18-year-old me and the homies and a lot of them do it's still my positive to this day.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_07]: And then what's nobody's filming them back then?
- 14:57[SPEAKER_07]: Unless they was on the football field, but like, as a man, they're going by man.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a, yeah, I'm a, I'm a, I've got to develop that.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_06]: I've got a hundred percent, but I have a bunch of college footage, two because I was always the person with what he came or two.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_06]: That's why.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_06]: I understand this game, but it's not even like I know what to do with it other than just show my friends after the party what we saw like it wasn't even Not in the free-boundal car.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_07]: I'm in the back seat for anybody.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_06]: Why don't I have to be free-bound?
- 15:24[SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_06]: We did some some things that we probably shouldn't have done.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, or something.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_07]: And this is this 18-year-old freshman sophomore in college.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_07]: I was like, man, my wife kind of already know who I am.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like, hey, this is some part of my co-show.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_07]: You say in part of the wildest day, you don't want to see a man like I'm kind of crazy.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_06]: When I got, when I like really started going to church, I had to delete some of this.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_06]: I remember throwing some of those, those, those joints away, I said, I don't even want to have this.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_07]: Man, look, I got some stuff I shot on my boy's nephew.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_07]: He grew up with, he grew up with us.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_07]: And he was always, we had a camera in high school.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_07]: And we used to be at my homeboy's house.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_07]: And he had, he probably had the least money at all of our families.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_07]: But he was his spouse at the kick-ups spot.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_07]: And it was like this,
- 16:15[SPEAKER_07]: Bad room and we had like this California queen California king bed and it's like five six seven dudes is sitting on the bed Playing the game is one-two laying out against the wall on the phone talking to a girl and talking to a girl and then say the two dudes at the edge of the bed And it's like another dude laying across the bed on another phone line Or one one home.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_07]: We had a cell phone.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_07]: So he on that and it's cousin his nephew is just filming us because this is one of our cameras.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_07]: It's probably my boy Willie.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_07]: He had a camera
- 16:44[SPEAKER_07]: or my boy Ray had a camera and he's just fiddling us and the thing he's saying I'm like, and he's sitting to me now, I might do our his nephew was probably about five six years younger than us.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_07]: So when we like 17, he's like 10 or 11, 12.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_07]: So and my boy will always make him get up and leave because they share the bedroom.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_07]: It was just the room so small, it's just a bed in here.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_07]: I think they like the dresser was like in the closet or it was like in the hallway and this is all these we big football player dudes And I'm like One of my home was it's two ninety It's six four to ninety and we just big dudes in the other home.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_07]: He's six four.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_07]: I'm six three And I'm a line-backer.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_07]: It's just a lot of dudes And I'm like first of all, why do you know why is all these dudes on this one bed?
- 17:27[SPEAKER_07]: I'm gonna keep it on it for me
- 17:28[SPEAKER_07]: But now what day is he, but that's Paul's, but this is 1997, 1998.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm saying, anybody tripping and watching the game, we playing the game.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_07]: And his older brother was in there too.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_07]: He's 65, and he's just saying some of the greatest they'd be calling each other, we talk about to each other and all of them in the name of love and it's having fun.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_07]: I might say those things you couldn't feel in the end in the end because we'd be getting trouble.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I think it's important to be documenting the process wherever we're at right now.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_06]: We make it easy like our phones is cool, but like you had to go to extra effort to actually do that.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_06]: So after you get this camera, well, what was the first skit or sketch that you remember doing right on your computer?
- 18:11[SPEAKER_07]: Once I got to college, I was shooting at that year, that semester, and then I went home for a Christmas break, at the end of the season, into the semester, into the school year, my freshman year, and I started shooting sketches when I got back home, to my homeboys, because these are the homies that I knew from high school, and we silly, and we could sit down.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_07]: And college, I don't fit the homies even had.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_07]: Myself included didn't have the mindset to sit down, and create a sketch idea, and then actually acted out
- 18:39[SPEAKER_07]: And then, I didn't even know how to edit back then.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_07]: So I think the sketches came when I got back.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_07]: It was still 2000.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_07]: I think my first sketch was a parody of a parody.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_07]: Don't be minutes while drinking your drinking your juice in the hood, where they was jumping to do it.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_07]: And he was jump rope and he made that.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_07]: I really did that.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_07]: It was 2000.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_07]: It says at the bottom, 2000.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm playing one of the dudes, it's about to get jumped in.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_07]: I was about to jump the homie and he he gets jumped in and maybe we jump a rope is right He's he won't like this.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_07]: He's about to get rid of screw up with the homies and get beat up And it cuz it will be why he's not the shot and he's about to do he's playing double-dutch Yeah, and I it's just and he wants to get these big ass football kids Playing double-dutch right and that was sketch that was in that was 25 years ago.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_06]: What did you do with that sketch?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_07]: It's still up.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_07]: No, look.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_07]: That's all YouTube.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_07]: I put on YouTube years ago when it first, because it was no YouTube.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_07]: It was no YouTube.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_07]: And I don't even know if it's still up.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_07]: I'm gonna keep it behind it.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_07]: I gotta find it.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_07]: I don't even know how to find it.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_06]: You put it.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_06]: I'm saying you put it.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_06]: I put it on YouTube.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_06]: But you're saying, when you recorded it, it wasn't in YouTube.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, the YouTube didn't crack.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_06]: That's what I'm saying.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_06]: You put it up after.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_07]: You put up a few years.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_07]: I think I put it up at the earliest five years after 2000.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_07]: So 2005 or 2008 or something like that.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_07]: I see.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_07]: And that was the first thing I ever put up.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_07]: And I only had that page anymore.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_07]: I could probably find it.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_07]: I tried to find a lot of going.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_07]: I couldn't.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_07]: So you put that up and terrible were you like like promoting it and all I'm thinking about use or even no I know I just put it up so the homies can see right put it for the homies so I actually I put it up and then I didn't even know how to send it all right I know nothing about the internet like that so once I had to be around them I had to be around them to show up
- 20:39[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I don't know about views, monetization, nothing.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't, that didn't ever cross my mind.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_07]: I was like, I mean, I put this video, I shot this video and I put it out and I'm happy about it at the time.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_07]: Now, I was like, oh,
- 20:52[SPEAKER_07]: Not now but like I think it was early $2,000 like this is terrible Yeah, now because this is the forecollege, right?
- 20:58[SPEAKER_07]: But it was literally you did it though, you know, yeah, look at this, look at the editing It's terrible with the acting, my acting was terrible You can't even handle sound, it was just man It was um
- 21:10[SPEAKER_07]: and some of the homies don't know what they're doing.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_07]: And I don't know how to direct them.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_07]: And so yeah, it's terrible now, but that's why, so I've been doing this most of, more than a half my life.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_07]: And I was in film, I was a freshman in school, and I wasn't even taking film classes yet, because when you get to college, you gotta take the prerequisites first and yeah, you gotta take the classes that, you gotta take the regular classes just before you get to your major stuff.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_07]: So, in my sophomore years when I started taking classes for film,
- 21:39[SPEAKER_06]: The reason you're here is because I decided to start a podcast.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_06]: So did I can have engaging conversations with people by the way, this video will be monetized.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_06]: I'll make money off of it.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_06]: You need to start a podcast too, so you can have engaging conversations like this one.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_06]: Which means you need to be a podcast.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_06]: I'm at 2026 for the price of a cheap date with somebody that you don't even like like that.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_06]: You can learn how to start a podcast, grow your audience, build your business, or use a podcast to build your brand to build your business.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_06]: Check this out.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_03]: The podcast summit has been nothing short of a base.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: And there's no better place to learn how to have a podcast than podcast summit.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_03]: It's more than just like a podcast conference.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's a community of people who actually want to learn and get better at entrepreneurship.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_06]: So fast forward, when did you like realize you know I'm going to be a content creator and really start taking a seriously start making these uploads because we're like we're probably hundreds of millions of views at this point right I mean right now yeah now I would say 17 years later 17 years later really yeah because I was I was doing videos I've got then my next video after that might have put am I to put out
- 22:55[SPEAKER_07]: 10 years later, 2019.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_07]: You know, wow.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_07]: I had this page.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_08]: Who was your daughter?
- 23:02[SPEAKER_08]: She's working in job, bro.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_07]: He's only going to job, man.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_07]: Who was your work in that room?
- 23:06[SPEAKER_07]: I was a job.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_07]: After college, after high school, after college, I graduated.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_07]: Because you can't work with college.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_07]: You play a ball.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_07]: You can't really work.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_07]: You understand?
- 23:12[SPEAKER_07]: So after college, my first job was after school program leader at a Rosa Parks Elementary School in Berkeley, California.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_07]: Shout out to my brother my snare man's my bro my bro to this day Yeah, I was fun too.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I was fun, too.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I was fun man.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_07]: He that was I was a goofball But I also had that I had the the sixth graders and that was like the hardest the fifth graders in the fifth years I was a hardest class to have because they was like we pre-teens and they thought they were everything and now, but I had them in order, man We school
- 23:47[SPEAKER_08]: How long were you doing that two years, two years, two years, and then what?
- 23:52[SPEAKER_07]: And then, I started, I was a person trainer, 24-hour fitness.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_07]: Where?
- 23:56[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_07]: So I was a lead there, I was doing that.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_07]: After I was a person trainer for like part-time.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_07]: So I would do like nights.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_07]: I would do like maybe from like six to like nine, six to ten.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_07]: and 24-hour fitness in Richmond, California at the hilltop mall.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_07]: So they had a gym in the mall.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_07]: It was crackin' to that mall, it was crackin' in St. Spencey for the gym doors and so I was in there.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_07]: That's a back when I was in shape.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_06]: What was your dream at this time?
- 24:26[SPEAKER_07]: I mean like at that time I was just trying to play football or did you have really I was working now And you know, I was hitting that that's one thing.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_07]: I was in the gym and I was broke You know, I got this college degree.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_07]: I got graduated by I know I want to break I'm gonna job so my boy a mom gave me a job at that at the elementary school and that was cool By the I got a second job as a trainer and just just to get in shape get a free membership Yeah, and at that point I got a free membership every at all the 24-hour fitness.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_07]: So no matter what no matter what I'm at
- 24:54[SPEAKER_07]: And I was training and I was working out myself and then I met a dude there.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_07]: My boy AD Aaron Dunkeln.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_07]: He was a, he was a, a trans plant from, from Mississippi from when, uh, was, uh, what's the, what's the, what's the, uh, Katrina.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_07]: Katrina hit, and messed up, you know, ripped up New Orleans, ripped up Mississippi too.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_07]: That was by the Bay, Bay, San Luis, Mississippi Bay, Bay, San, no, Bay, San, Mississippi.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_07]: That's 2006, 7.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_06]: When Katrina hit?
- 25:27[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_07]: I want to say, our sticks.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_06]: Because I started working for FEMA around, I guess, my paramount time.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and he was from New York, he was from Mississippi, but his people had to come to America, come to America, had to come to the West Coast, and there was a lot of people from New Orleans and for my Texas and more from New Orleans and Louisiana and Mississippi that were coming west and him and his family,
- 25:56[SPEAKER_07]: him and his best friend and a dad, Charles Hawkins and Mr. Mr. Olympia, 2009, three or four, yeah, they came out.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_07]: So these big buff dudes who's up in the gym, working out, and I'm a trainer.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_07]: So I'm telling them, I'm telling them with the homie AD, Aaron, and he's like, I play football, man.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_07]: I want to miss a Cippy, stay to something like that.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_07]: And I was like, I want the cow up the road.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_07]: They're like, who would you play?
- 26:19[SPEAKER_07]: I play tight in.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_07]: All right, what's up, and I'm about to I'm trying not for these football teams these are arena teams and we I try it out for a few teams I want to Texas and I try for the gladiators in L.A. and then I I forget the the the sound of Bay Area team, but you're all good I didn't make those but I made this arena two football league all the the UFL is ultimate football league or something like that
- 26:46[SPEAKER_07]: And I went down into tri-out, so I just packed up my clothes, man, packed up.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_07]: And I went with Aaron, we flew to New Orleans, his mom picked us up.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_07]: I had to tell him my 25.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_07]: A couple years after college, I'm still trying to make the league.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_07]: I still got league dreams.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_07]: I'm working in the gym, I'm bouncing, I'm bouncing at this club called the Holy Cow.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_07]: It's like this bar ain't Samson.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_06]: You do all big dude activities, or about, yeah, I'm a fan of the trainer and that's what I wasn't doing.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_07]: I was still goofy, but I wasn't, I wasn't, I wasn't feeling that, I wasn't right, and that wasn't doing, that's what my major at the time.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_06]: Get ready to put the hands on somebody.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_06]: I'll come on.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_07]: Even in college, college, it got to a point when the team started, that's the only job we was getting.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_07]: We could get under the table money, I'd be doing being a bouncer and college.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_07]: We was going bouncer in Frisco, bouncer in Oakland, bouncer in Berkeley, on campus, and a frappard is frappard to be the worst, because some of the homies know you, some of the people know you, and they people say, and it's let me in, can't let you win, but I'll be on the list.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_07]: So some dudes said they're trying to sneak in and and they're trying to bum brush the door and yeah One of the homies knocked out the kid and then he got one of the homies got hitting the head But he one of our teammates thought it's jar broke and he couldn't play coaches like all right, bro Yeah, I got it.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, y'all got to stop but no no no more bouncing because bouncing basically ain't fighting
- 28:08[SPEAKER_06]: Right, but that's your bread at the top time.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_07]: That's for the AB.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, so you know on scholarship and I wasn't on scholarship Yeah, I'm saying I got I was a recruit it walk on.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I was recruited to here, but I already had this I had a I can image scholarship to cow got you and so after at this point when did we become a creator?
- 28:27[SPEAKER_06]: He's saying 2010 you said I was already before the social media.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_07]: I was already creating stuff
- 28:33[SPEAKER_06]: So you are still in this process while you on the football, like on the football path, trainer, you're still creating kind of.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_07]: I was doing stuff like back then I was doing more like Drew ski type stuff.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_07]: Like I was just having somebody fill me walk around campus dancing and I'm like, I'm using me here like a boom box and I'm over there just.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_07]: I got pictures of that too.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like 19.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_07]: I've got a copy of the phone on with a Jerry Kuro and I'm walking around.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_07]: I go in like the little dining comments, little cafeteria, even recording me as dancers, how I grab a grocery, dance, and all of a sudden a dad and everybody knew I was a clown, so it was just a job being a job.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_07]: You know, this is when we told him about 2001, 2002 and I was doing that back then.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_07]: So,
- 29:16[SPEAKER_07]: Just, and I didn't really had no structure as far as like this, I'm gonna do a sketch.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_07]: I'm gonna put together, I'm gonna write a story and get actors and get the right to them.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't have that yet.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_06]: So, but that didn't come your saying until 2010.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_07]: 2010 probably, yeah, I was doing sketches for, I was doing like my favorite TV scenes, or movie scenes.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_07]: I was making the version of that, you know what I mean?
- 29:38[SPEAKER_07]: Um, I did one where I did like a,
- 29:43[SPEAKER_07]: I was doing, I don't even think I could see if I could find that.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_07]: I do like a, not a fellow, but like a Shakespeare type gangster project where it's a homie, a little mass bath, you know, saying, when he was, he was tied up in the basement with somebody that the gang's, the opposition, the ops had them and we had to go free the news.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_07]: So we snuck up in every walk in and we go to the back door, you go to the front, I'm going to come to the back door pause and then I'm going to put the gun on me and free the homie and so we were doing shit like that.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_06]: But so your process was you're writing it or you're just freestyling it while you're shooting it.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_07]: I'm freestyling it.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't go out of right yet.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_06]: So, but here's the record.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_06]: Do it.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_06]: Stop.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_06]: Do that again.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_06]: Record.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_06]: You're producing.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_07]: This is 20 years.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_07]: This is 20 some years ago.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_07]: I'm in college.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_07]: I'm to the 2001 or two.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_07]: I remember one of the home girls had me.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_07]: Remember to eliminate.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_07]: And then the date, I think it's on BT or MTV.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_07]: It looked like a dating show where you go, like, a girl or a guy goes on the show with like two or three different people and throughout the day, she eliminates one person.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_06]: I remember that particular show, but I see it.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_07]: So the cap is on campus, Saturday, my boy Chris Bailey, I haven't seen him in years since college down there.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_07]: He was like the guy, he was like one of the photographers for the icing, for the basketball team.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_07]: And he had this camera.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_07]: He had the first guy seen with the digital camera that he can shoot video on.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_07]: I was an upside.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_07]: What's that?
- 31:16[SPEAKER_07]: Because every camera, I know it was like a big old camera you had to put on your shoulder or what I had.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_07]: I had to look a little camcorder situation.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_07]: And he had like a Canon, something like that.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_07]: And we filmed their version of Elimidate.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_07]: We're a girl goes in the day with three different guys.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_07]: And one of the guys of my team made my boy Burrell.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_07]: And I do, I think they was Troy, Wesley, the homie, he went to Cali, he went to Cali.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_07]: Well, but we all students and classmates together.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_07]: And I forgot what the girl was, but that video was dope too.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, he basically, um, I got hired to film that and edit it.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, it's a shame.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_06]: Is this your first job?
- 31:55[SPEAKER_07]: Essentially like we're trying to find the thing.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_07]: It was like, I don't even know if I got paid.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, but I got hired like you didn't want doing it and that was a hell of you I'm ready.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_07]: Let's do it.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_07]: So he's outside filming the home night the whole date and she ended up the home It was clowning and he'd be in goofy and I was behind the camera.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I was I wasn't even in front of the camera I was behind the camera and the home me Burrell who he's like the the receiver coach for UCLA right now
- 32:18[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, yeah, well, he played he played for the rest games, but this is back in college We were just trying to figure it out playing ball and trying to we was goofballs We had all those jokes a little sands every party.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_07]: We go to every football basketball game He's not football, but basketball game and track you see it's always like a pack of us is going around clown And we was like the goofy crew
- 32:41[SPEAKER_06]: so let's let's get to where this becomes a thing yeah when did it become serious like y'all i am a content creator i'm making money from this as well oh okay so those two different things okay if he came serious way before the money came yeah he was in and that's not a thing we're inconsistent
- 33:01[SPEAKER_07]: I got consistent 2017.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_07]: 2017, I was living up in the bay.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_07]: I was doing commercials.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_07]: I was auditioning for commercials.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_07]: I did a Nike commercial.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_07]: I was like T.O.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_07]: to Row Owen's standing.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_07]: Once again, I was a way better shade back then.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_07]: If he was always an evener T.O.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_07]: and he answered when he was playing for the 90s back then.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_07]: And so every time I'm walking through the San Francisco, they're like, T-O, I'm a non-man, I ain't T-O, man.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_07]: I was a tight-end, so we ain't too much, I might maybe 15 pounds heavier than him.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_07]: And so I auditioned for this commercial, I got it, a Nike commercial, it was NFL Street, NFL Street commercial, and it's also, it was another commercial, Michael Vick, and T-O was like a computer.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_07]: It's almost like, this is back in the day where CGI probably was, now it's the AI.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_07]: And I played this stand-in, and,
- 33:53[SPEAKER_07]: So I'm doing all the running around all the route running and stuff like that because he's a celebrity He didn't real route running, but I'm a former former college player.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_07]: I'm that just probably done playing this like 2000, you know 2000 and maybe seven 2000 and then David Fincher if people who know film They know David Fincher is one of our best filmmakers of this era real are maybe a what do you make?
- 34:17[SPEAKER_07]: Seven, he made seven movies, but my seven with Brad Pitt, and the Morgan Freeman, that's the movie he had.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_07]: He just made it at the time before, and he was also doing commercials still too.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_07]: A big profile, high profile commercials.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_07]: And I remember asking him, like, all these questions about the camera, about the right thing in there.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_07]: And then he was like, what do you do?
- 34:38[SPEAKER_07]: You have to have a lot of questions.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_07]: Most athletes don't do this.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_07]: They're just being talking to the girls or doing something else, not by man.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_07]: I'm interesting with what you doing.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_07]: And I told him I'm a film major, I went to Cal, I just graduated, so what you doing here?
- 34:51[SPEAKER_07]: I was like, this, I'm acting.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_07]: I'm acting too.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_07]: He was like, where are you from?
- 34:55[SPEAKER_07]: I was like, I'm from LA.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_07]: He was like, why are you?
- 34:57[SPEAKER_07]: What are you doing here?
- 34:58[SPEAKER_07]: Well, then one day I met David Fincher was like,
- 35:01[SPEAKER_07]: He's white.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_07]: So he's not Spike Lee because Spike Lee is our brother, but he's on the same level.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_07]: I'm saying some people, some people's favorite director.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_07]: Everybody knows him.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_07]: He's the director's director.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_07]: So Quentin Tarantino, Scarsese, they all know David Fincher.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_07]: He's in that same light.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_07]: You type him up, you don't see.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_07]: I'm drawing the blank now.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_07]: He has a slew of movies and TV shows.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_07]: David Fincher.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_07]: David Fincher, he is the director's director.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_07]: Everyone loves him.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_07]: I'm saying.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_06]: and he was directing this music I mean this this commercial I didn't know who he was at the time other than I knew at the time he had just this seven so I didn't do that yeah he did seven fight club yeah gone girl yeah killer zodiac the social network the story about Facebook that was fire fire class he did the game the girl with the dragon tattoo the adventures of Chris Cliff Booth
- 35:59[SPEAKER_06]: I think you did panic room.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_07]: Yep.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_06]: Hell, he, the list goes on.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_07]: Painted room was back to the day.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_07]: He's in the end of Jones.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_06]: In 1984.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_07]: I'm going to ask him if he remembers one.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_07]: Like the one day he's going to know who I am.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm like, do you remember telling me, man, the move back to LA?
- 36:16[SPEAKER_07]: He's to go back home and direct, man, what are you doing?
- 36:18[SPEAKER_07]: What are you doing here?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_07]: Because the Bay Area, you can cast for commercials and do a TV spots, but it's mostly commercial work.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_07]: And the Bay.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_07]: He was like, LA is what you're going to make your money at and make your career.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_07]: Go home.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_07]: All right.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_07]: He told me that.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_07]: And so I always remember that and then he became he was already David Fincher, but I didn't know him as the David Fincher he is now.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_06]: Right, and so what did you pick up from him?
- 36:42[SPEAKER_07]: At that point, at that point, this is a man go home.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_07]: What are you doing here?
- 36:46[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_07]: And you know, when you got people who are go-getters and people who are dreamers and are living their dream, they don't have room for doubt, they don't have room for procrastination.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_07]: And so it wasn't much situation where he was like, I go, got it here.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_07]: He said, man, what are you doing here?
- 37:04[SPEAKER_07]: Sideways and time, leave, go home.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_07]: So you go back that way?
- 37:08[SPEAKER_07]: I go back that way and then what?
- 37:10[SPEAKER_07]: And then I transfer Jim.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_07]: So now I'm in 24 our fitness down there in the on Chris show on 120.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_07]: all the homies that that's that's a crack in general.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_07]: So I transferred my gem from the bay for Richmond, California, back to LA and I'm in Hawthorne now and I get the agent.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_07]: My aunt knows I was acting agent acting agent.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, in 2009.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_07]: So I moved back to LA in 2008.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_07]: And my aunt knows I'm I've been goofy my whole life.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_07]: She's like, and I was like, I wanted to comedy.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_07]: I want to act on and she's actress.
- 37:43[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_07]: My on-depth so she went there.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_07]: They got to open Mike down in there at the comedy union in Pete on Peacock's and mid-city and San Pico I said cool every Monday over Mike for like combat us stand-up comedy So you're about to go to stand-up.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I Never does stand-up before never done um, I saw a look.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_07]: I did stand-up in 2007 twice At the spot caught the wash the brainwash.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_07]: It's like is a laundry room slash cafe slash comedy show come up
- 38:09[SPEAKER_07]: slash comedy store a comedy a comedy of venue and I'm had like a small stage in the cafe and you go up to your own Tuesdays or Thursdays and do like an open mic situation I didn't know any comics.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know any as do athletes.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, so so I don't really have a tribe of comics That it's not like when my mom when I moved back to LA is when I met all the kind all the homies that I do comedy with now
- 38:32[SPEAKER_07]: And but up there's like, man, we don't know nothing about comedy, but I'm just kind of search for it and I had one of my homeboys, he was like, yeah, I know comedian.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_07]: He goes to Kimball East.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_07]: He goes to comedy.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_07]: He does comedy and open and
- 38:44[SPEAKER_07]: By the time I met that guy, he said, I mean, it calls the spot down.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_07]: I move from back to the sack.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_07]: So at the end, where is the comedians?
- 38:50[SPEAKER_07]: Where's the, I don't know.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_07]: It's a lot of comedians in the bad.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_07]: It's no no.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_07]: And so I stopped.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_07]: I lost focus.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_07]: And you know, comedy is not easy.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_07]: Especially when you start, when you're not even good, you start off and you know what you're saying.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_07]: So I stopped in 07 and I didn't pick it back up to 09 when I moved back to LA.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_07]: I moved back to LA in 2008.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_07]: Trying to, you know, I'm working as a trainer.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_07]: I'm trying to find the agent and I'm auditioning for CAA, I wish I would be dope.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_07]: At the time, it was NCA, then she tried his agency, I auditioned for them and they represented me.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_07]: I did a solid audition.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_06]: Did they get you some gigs?
- 39:31[SPEAKER_07]: They got me out auditions.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_07]: They got me auditions and you got to get the gigs.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, right.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_07]: So yeah, but they got me auditions and I didn't book a lot.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't book nothing to where I became a working actor.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_07]: I was always an up-and-coming actor.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_07]: I booked a few things.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_07]: I booked like commercials.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_07]: I did a music video.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_07]: I actually did a commercial with a metham man back in the day.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, where?
- 39:54[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a science commercial.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, a science commercial back in 2009.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_07]: And that was my biggest payday at the time.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_07]: I'm feeling, oh yeah, I'm out to be rich.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_06]: How much did you make?
- 40:01[SPEAKER_07]: I think I made $5,000.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_06]: $5 grand.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_06]: That ain't bad though.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_07]: It was a buyout, too.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_07]: Buyout means that you don't get like residuals.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_07]: They're so like that.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_07]: You don't say, you just get like this pay you for the two days of shooting.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_07]: And, oh, which is like 500 a day.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like 500 a day.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_07]: And the first thing I didn't do nothing.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_07]: I just sat there.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_07]: No, the second day, the first day I did, I did the scenes.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_07]: And the second day they bring you back just to make sure it's the kids that got to do something else.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_07]: I was there, chilling.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_07]: Methods Cool is hell too, super cool.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_07]: It's before power, this is before he might have been doing a wire at the time.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_07]: He's still met the man since the 90s.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_07]: I'm sure and so that and that's nothing And when was how high what year was how high?
- 40:44[SPEAKER_07]: I was like had to be early 2000 something Yeah, yeah, I mean yeah, so he was already acting yeah, and he was in this was like a music video But it was a music video that wasn't going on like an MTV rap show in my dad rap city It was it was a it was a It was a sucker in in that commercial
- 41:02[SPEAKER_07]: Because he can cut and he was talking about him right he wrote a rap for the sour patch commercial You could probably find it if you look it up, but it was dope So so we we're here.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_07]: I'm in that lady.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_07]: I don't have no camera yet.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_06]: Right my old camera When did you get the first camera because that's a 2010 got the first camera.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_06]: That's why I focused that's when you liked it I thought I thought I thought how was you planning on making money?
- 41:27[SPEAKER_07]: Always on
- 41:28[SPEAKER_06]: How are you planning on making money?
- 41:31[SPEAKER_07]: I wasn't.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, at that time, I didn't know how to make money.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_07]: Only when I was gonna make money, is it someone paid me to shoot their sketch, their music video, their short film.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_06]: So you started doing that stuff?
- 41:40[SPEAKER_06]: I started doing that, yeah.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, you grabbed the camera and then you started shooting it.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_07]: Now, I still know many actors.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_07]: I know all comedians.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_07]: And now I'm out of my surroundings and comedians who are actors already, but like, so I'm like, Abraham, it was like 2010, I just got this camera.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_07]: And my new, I started doing everything for free.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, that's what I was saying.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_07]: I had a job at that time to let him tend.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_07]: I started teaching.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_07]: I was doing so.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_07]: I was doing a person training and I was a substitute teacher for high school.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_06]: But I love this story, man, because people think you just pop on the scene and they don't really think about the history of all the stuff that you had to make happen on the way to the history.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_08]: Right.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_08]: Right.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_06]: But from 2010 to 2017, as seven years,
- 42:27[SPEAKER_07]: Nothing.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not going viral.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_07]: I'm dropping stuff here in there and no one's caring.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_07]: No, I don't know.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_07]: Nobody.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_07]: All YouTube at this time on YouTube on YouTube and I didn't even know about making money.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_07]: My thing is I was just going to show I was doing I was doing like short films and like little sketches here in there.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_07]: They didn't know where to put it.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_07]: YouTube was the only place to just put it up.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_07]: So you can, and I didn't, I wasn't even like here, put it up and I'm listening to you also.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_07]: You can see it.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_07]: It was like put it up so I can show you and I'm in person with you go to YouTube and type in the video and watch it.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_07]: because you're not thinking that like someone's just gonna find it after you put it right and people and and and I remember YouTube was cracking at that time in Vimeo yeah Vimeo started cracking so I started putting stuff on there and then I was watching house they had like movie at a week they had Vimeo was like the first place I thought oh dude you can you can they have film festivals on Vimeo and you can like put your film up there and and have the the have somebody rated and and and and and judging you might want something
- 43:25[SPEAKER_07]: But I also wasn't consistent.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_07]: I wasn't putting up nothing that I think was worthy of Of winning something at the time I thought I did, but look back now.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, this is the mistakes.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_07]: This is the chiefs of the project I'm I yeah, what about Facebook Reputing Facebook with a more I don't think it was no because Facebook is mostly pictures and like Logging almost kind of blogging Yeah, I believe and um
- 43:49[SPEAKER_07]: And at first, Facebook wasn't cracking yet into, you had to be a college student.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_07]: You know, I was one.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, but I was like, oh, two, oh, three.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_07]: I graduated in O4 and it wasn't there.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, it was there, but you had to be a college student.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_07]: And, you know, anyway, you can get on Facebook because if you had a college, email, email, and I stopped using my college email halfway through my college career.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_07]: So I had my first email, my email at the time was a Yahoo.com.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_07]: My email back then, and my first email in college was, it was job pick.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_07]: job pick at UCLing4.com.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_07]: That was the, that was the UC Berkeley email.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_07]: So, but I, I law, I forgot my password.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_07]: No, that's true.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_06]: So, but around 2017, so from 10 to 17, seven years, you're putting stuff up on YouTube every now and then.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_06]: And Vimeo.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, every now and again.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_06]: What happened in 2017 where you're like, oh, I got something.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_07]: So, I was at that time, I wasn't teaching them more, I was a bodyguard, her name, my manager now, I was a bodyguard for him.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_07]: You were his bodyguard?
- 44:58[SPEAKER_07]: No, I was his artist's bodyguard.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_06]: He was your bodyguard for his artist.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_07]: For this, you're writing hops in, yeah.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_06]: Oh wow.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_06]: So, he was popping like, what's I never heard of him, but...
- 45:07[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, oh yeah, they popping on the list goes and and that's what that's one thing I was I learned to you don't have to be Adeless like mainstream artists To be able to travel to the world and have a fan base that you need security for And that's why I learned I said oh these dudes and they probably like like you guys You got guys are doing festivals and they're doing $10,000 10,000 people in the crowd and 50,000 people in the crowd and you got people who's doing 500
- 45:35[SPEAKER_07]: 200 people in the crowd and you can live off that.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, you know saying and then he run the label that has multiple artists doing that You look at the successful artist and it's so and as people who know music the industry which I don't really know I'm only I'm only learning it from like the Being the round hearing the conversations and watching things you can you don't need millions of fans You need a few hundred thousand
- 45:59[SPEAKER_07]: And you can be good, you can build your tribe, you can build your, and you can build your, your fan audience, and these people don't ever have to be a list famous, but they can be the favorite rapper of somebody.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_07]: A hundred percent across the country across the world.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_07]: And so that motivated me to that was one of another thing that I'm happy to give my life together when it comes to this art.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_07]: Because I'm, I'm bodyguard and which is cool.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_07]: I had a great time.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_07]: I did it for four years.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_07]: Australia we in Zaylan Wow yeah yeah and then a fans are coming out they this is dead around the block waiting for these people And so yeah, and I was like and these guys aren't known by every single person in the world No, of course you got the drakes you got the kintrix, you know, you got the jz at the time that they came before them, but they
- 46:47[SPEAKER_07]: They got guys who do they have it on tour.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_07]: I'm talking about 20 30 cities and they're going around the country doing 200 to a thousand people and they don't cool And they make a money make the one meet and Greece now.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_07]: I know the set.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_07]: I watched it.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_07]: I was part of it
- 47:03[SPEAKER_07]: And so it is motivating me to start writing and this is 20.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_07]: I started doing that in 2014, okay, in the 2014 I just finished going back to film school.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_07]: I went to film school 10 years later Just to just to learn what's being taught now Then to in 2014 ten years after I graduated what my family agreed and after I graduated it was like a situation it happened all that once
- 47:28[SPEAKER_07]: I went to the movie theater, I went to the movie by myself, turned my phone off, went off, I turned my phone back on, I got all these messages, notifications, and one of the messages was from a blast text from my boy Dane.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_07]: And he was looking for a new, a new security bodyguard for it.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_07]: The next tour that he was going on.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_07]: What is artist?
- 47:52[SPEAKER_07]: At the time he had four artists and three of them were touring.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_07]: And he was like, man, and me and him knew each other from college.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_07]: He led bro, I've been bouncing since I was 17, 18 and college, and he was like, man, if you, if you got time, man, let's sit down to talk and see if he offered me the opportunity to go on tour, like a mini tour, mini tour, be like threefold.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_07]: five cities three four days and I was like ah I just finished this film school I just made this little short film for class I all had the best film in the class and my teachers like me and you on your way, you said you make it and then the home he's like bro you want to be able to be able to go out from my artist that way
- 48:28[SPEAKER_07]: I kind of was done doing security at the time.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_06]: It's been a little bread though, huh?
- 48:32[SPEAKER_06]: Could use that little bread.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_07]: I could, so sure, but at the time, how I always moved, I always moved to this day, it's never about the money.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_07]: Even as broke as I was, because I was looking for a job, I was done with the school again, and I'll take an online or job.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_07]: I'll go back to teaching now.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_07]: I wanna go back to teaching.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_07]: I just got, I was sitting in the, for these last couple of months, I'm filming, I'm doing film work again.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_07]: My first time really involved myself in film every day, going to class, I was loving it.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_07]: And then, to go back to the classroom, to teach math and science, I was like, and so when he hit me up about going out to the country or going out to, I'll, I'll, I'll stay to, to do touring, to do bodyguard work, I was like, damn, that's not something I really want to do, no more.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm thinking about doing real body guard work on tour.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_07]: I said, well, all of this, you got that, that needs to body guard work and I'm not carrying no gun.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_07]: Man, I'm not doing that.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_07]: I want to do all that.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_07]: And he would now, my artists aren't like that, they they more, one is kind of radical, but he's not a violent person.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, you don't have a violent crew of people that follow him.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_07]: And the other one that's like a laid back to keep him in the style guy.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_07]: He's all about fun and positivity.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_06]: So you did take the job.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_06]: I took the job.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_06]: Love it.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_06]: So take me up to where you start being a creator.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_06]: What happened in 17?
- 49:41[SPEAKER_07]: 2017, I went to a Sundance Film Festival, one of my home boys on my old teammates from college, one of my closest friends in the world, man, still my brother to this day, and we were a film bus in college, and he made a film.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_07]: We made a film together in 2012, a short film that we submitted to Sundance didn't get in.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_07]: It wasn't ready.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_07]: And I look back now, I'm like, that was definitely not ready at the time, but we made a film.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_07]: It was dope for the time,
- 50:10[SPEAKER_07]: And in five years later, he gets accepted with a feature film.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_07]: His first feature, he made, he got accepted to Sundance, which was 17.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_07]: This was 2017, January 17, January 17, 2017.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_07]: He gets into the film festival, wins it, wins the famous choice, wins it, he wins out, there's like a hundred movies in the festival, he wins it, number one movie, and I'm like, man, it's his first feature, I'm gonna know what this dude says, I was 17 and he was 18.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_07]: Now this, I've been knowing him since 99, now it was 2017 and he's made this film, I was like, man, I gotta go home and change everything for me.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_07]: I saw him.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_07]: I saw how he didn't know nothing about filmmaking in 2012.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_07]: At all.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_07]: Five years later, he put the work game for the time and he learned he produces on film.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_07]: He started in it and he co-started in it and it was the Keith Stanfield's first leading role.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_07]: And before the Keith and so he is now and he won Sundance, I was so motivated bro, it
- 51:19[SPEAKER_07]: My it just pulled a poor so much life into me that experience now went back home.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_07]: I dust off my cameras and I started to do a sketches And I was like every day until some happens until I can leave my job.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_07]: I was to look I was still a bodyguard Yeah, so but there are times where we been going to or we be on the be going too much sometimes on tour traveling the country But when I'm home, I'm shooting.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_07]: I'm writing.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_07]: I'm figuring out ways to to make somebody laugh online and IG was to place I started Instagram
- 51:49[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I think I might've came across a content 20, it might've been 2018.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_06]: So at that time, you only been serious locked in for a year.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_06]: That's crazy.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_06]: I'm thinking, bro, I messed up, cause this dude been doing this and like, I mean, you've been in the industry, but you locked in for it.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_06]: I was doing it here.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_07]: I was doing like rant videos kind of like right now, if you look at who you know that blow that blew up, you know how this talk to the camera about something silly, dude doing like a personal rant like, I hate when you go to Starbucks and they yell your name out, but they whisper it.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_07]: You say, you say, John, you say,
- 52:32[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, yeah, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're,
- 52:48[SPEAKER_07]: those type of videos, just talking shit.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_07]: We're gonna be on the way, and then he blew up, you know what I'm saying?
- 52:54[SPEAKER_07]: So a lot of personalities were just, and I was like, it was a way of me practicing my bits on stage, standing up comedy, just throwing the camera up and just talking to the camera.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_07]: I had a lesbian, the lesbian homie kind of derived from there.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_07]: I had to joke about lesbian stunts.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_07]: If you're attractive, you steal this moment at me.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, you call yourself a star.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_07]: You just a beautiful last time boy.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_07]: And that's one of the just I did back in 2014, 15.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_07]: And so I was doing that.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_07]: And I didn't have no tribe yet.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_07]: If people were walking to sit down and shoot sketches with, I knew a lot of comedians about a lot of my enfocus.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_07]: And I needed the focus that I ended up getting in 2017.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't have the focus all the way.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_07]: And I didn't know anyone else had to focus the same way I needed it.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_06]: It's funny how life works like that when you lock in, you're automatically attracting people that's locked in.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_07]: Right, and that's some thing that you do what you can.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_07]: Don't wait for the don't be perfect, be consistent.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_07]: And I just started working.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_07]: At that point,
- 53:50[SPEAKER_07]: When I came back from Sundance in January, I started doing sketches officially because I was supposed to go back to the tour.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_07]: I was supposed to go to Europe with Dizzy Wright, and I'm saying, but at the last minute he couldn't take me.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_07]: It made sense.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_07]: He was on someone else's tour.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_07]: He's not as popular in Europe as he is in the States, so he didn't really need me to go in it.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_07]: So I ended up not going.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_07]: So I was like, damn well, I'm gonna do now.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_07]: I'm sitting here stuck and then one of the homies asked me to shoot a sketch form up the street from where I lived He lived to eight minutes from my house.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_07]: I went over there shot a sketch for him in his wife And then he asked him to come back next day.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I came back the eye and then nothing else to do So I was like yeah, and I just finished the sudden that situation so I'm in the mood to shoot stuff
- 54:31[SPEAKER_07]: So yeah, whenever you need me, bro call me and then the next the third the second day I came I met another guy in KP and he was like, bro, I got a sketch house where everyone's just content All these content creators should come up there every Thursday at 11 30 AM to 730 PM.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_07]: I was like
- 54:48[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, I'll pull up.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_06]: So explain the sketchhouse.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_06]: Cause I think I remember either you or was it, then who's the other cat in, I met you at his house when y'all were shooting.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_06]: Isn't that Lee?
- 55:07[SPEAKER_07]: I took you with me to Cornell's house.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_06]: Cornell, yeah.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_07]: I thought it was hilarious.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_06]: So yeah, so I think he was telling me about the sketch house, but I didn't understand that well.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_07]: He was part of a different crew initially and we all ended up just working together as well.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_07]: But like sketch house was a place was in Van Eyes, it was a house.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_07]: two guys ran it.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_07]: They lived in this house.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_07]: It's like a four-bedroom house, and they opened it up to the public, but it was like an invite-only situation where they invite you to come over to the crib every this one.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_07]: So one day a week on Thursdays and you can shoot sketches.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_07]: Free?
- 55:42[SPEAKER_07]: Free.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_07]: Free what's the business model like was he he was not me they weren't trying to make money They was trying to build that they was trying to net where they were also creators too God, so they were also they did casting for a music video So that it was a way of getting pretty girls to come up there and being videos of a guy I'm saying the plow yeah It wasn't it wasn't a transactional situation for them in that way.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_07]: I would I
- 56:05[SPEAKER_07]: After a while, let me use the charges, you should charge this to be there.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_07]: Even if it's like $15 a month, for sure.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_07]: So, you can have paper towels and tell the paper in cleaning supplies because the house, the carpers are looking crazy.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_07]: Well, traffic in there and a lot of people was coming in there and misused in the place.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_07]: Not cleaning up after they made the mess.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like, uh,
- 56:24[SPEAKER_07]: They're all disrespectful and hair boy, but they were a two guys that were creators and shout out to them, be more in KPP, they created this place for us to all come and network.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_07]: That was dope, and it worked for some years, and then after a while, things got weird around there.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_07]: People started messing up, getting viral and having egos and stuff like that.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_07]: then being able to have a leave that spot.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_07]: That spot kind of closed down, right?
- 56:56[SPEAKER_07]: And so after that, the people I met there who I thought were conducive to the kind of stuff I was doing who I think I can benefit with, I kind of kept those ties with those guys.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_06]: So you start going up to the sketchhouse?
- 57:12[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_06]: What's the first video that hit for you?
- 57:15[SPEAKER_07]: Tiberius.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_06]: Tiberius.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_07]: This was what you very video.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_07]: end of April of our March of 2017.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_07]: 2017, you know, did it start paying you?
- 57:28[SPEAKER_07]: No, no, no, no, you only make the money.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_07]: It's just viral, it's just viral.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_07]: You popular, right?
- 57:32[SPEAKER_07]: You folks.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I see.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_06]: You get the popularity.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_06]: We're the money start coming for us.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_07]: Probably the end of 2018, maybe the really 2019.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_07]: From YouTube, from YouTube, yeah.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_07]: I was a monetized on nowhere else.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_07]: I got monetized on YouTube first.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_06]: How was the money coming in?
- 57:49[SPEAKER_06]: How much was it like when you saw like, whoa, we got my first.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_07]: Well, my first check was about $750,000 for that month.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_07]: I was like, oh, but before that, I think no, I'll find out I was monetized by looking for a YouTube downloading, a YouTube ripping,
- 58:06[SPEAKER_07]: app because I had the one I was using was discontinued it's not working.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_07]: So I went on the Apple Store and it's looking for another app that I can download to I can rip YouTube videos from and use it in my content and I download this app called YT Studio.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah and I'm thinking this might be an app that I can rip videos from like the other one.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_07]: It wasn't it was it was like an
- 58:31[SPEAKER_07]: I love what this is, man.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_07]: I look at the different tazs, it says, you're viewing and membership.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm like, I just think what I want about the delete this.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_07]: And I saw something say revenue and I clicked on it.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_07]: It's a button say revenue, monetization.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_07]: And I was like, I clicked on it.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_07]: And it says, monetized, sixth sense.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_07]: I said, what?
- 58:50[SPEAKER_07]: Six pennies.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_07]: So that's how much my pages worth.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_07]: I think that I was like, oh, it's monetized.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_07]: I can make, I've made six cents.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, hold on, that's changed everything for me.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_07]: And I wasn't really focused on YouTube yet because YouTube, I was dropping on YouTube over the years and nothing was happening.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_07]: I wasn't no one was caring, no one was watching.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_07]: So I started using the app that was showing me the most attention, which is IG.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm saying it right in that time, I might have had like 10,000 followers.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_07]: But before that, I had 358.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_06]: I don't even think there was panic at that time.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_06]: Instagram.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_07]: No, actually.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_07]: And if you were, it was like through brand deals, and I know how to get those.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_05]: But you see this YouTube studio.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_07]: You're like, I made six cents.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_07]: I made six cents, I can make six dollars.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_07]: I can make $60, $60, $100.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_07]: Now, I knew I could do that if I could make six cents.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_07]: And I only had like maybe five videos on there, but I wasn't really focused on IG.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, YouTube at the time.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_07]: And then, um,
- 59:52[SPEAKER_07]: I had all these one-minute videos from UIG, already banked up on IG, so I took those of same videos and put them on YouTube and started things are going.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_07]: I put one-minute videos every day, one video a day.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_07]: So now my YouTube got access, it has attention, it has traffic now, every day I'm dropping something.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_07]: For 11 days straight, and my membership boosted up, wow, my subscription boosted up, and then I was like, man, I started dropping like 8 to 9 videos, sometimes 11 videos in the month.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, back to back.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_07]: Like that.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, and that's the right amount of time that we met.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, really?
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_07]: I just started making a little bit of money right when we ran that time.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_06]: You know, that's so incredible, bro, because I'm thinking you own LA, bro, like you're this bad.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, they're like, he's the creator of all creators.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_06]: I know he's getting to this bag.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_07]: Now, the first part, yeah, I was to do the LA, you know, on myself at the time, but I was going to be quiet.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_07]: I was saying, without mentioning like, only like running the street, we're running the social media, the comedy world, at that level, it was me and Watts.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, why?
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_07]: And even to this day, it's still me and Watts on me quiet, but no bread.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_07]: at the time.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_07]: Light bread.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_07]: Light bread.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_07]: Well, I met you.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_07]: I was starting to make some cheese.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_07]: That was beer.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_07]: I just started to run there making some money.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_07]: But I was already known everywhere.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_07]: I'm taking pictures and it's not an autographs or stuff.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_06]: Wow.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_07]: I was still broke.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_06]: So when did it really escalate the money?
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_06]: We started doing longer content or with these one minute videos here?
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_07]: One minute didn't start going to three minutes.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_07]: One minute that started doing three minute videos because you can't do nothing more.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_07]: But one minute videos are IG.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_07]: But when I got monetized on Facebook on YouTube, I was like, oh, I could do longer content.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_07]: Talk to me even more creative.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_07]: Because that's one minute on the sketch.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_07]: I started doing longer sketches, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_07]: So the same thing that I was doing, that was doing 58 seconds worth of funny.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_07]: I was doing that.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_07]: I was doing three minutes and 10 seconds.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_07]: Two minutes and 58 seconds.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_07]: I was making sure, yeah, you had to be on had to be three minutes or less, three minutes or more on Facebook.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, even I wasn't monetized over there, but I was dropping every video on Facebook as well.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_07]: Not knowing that my following is growing on Facebook.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_07]: I wasn't paying attention to Facebook because IG has it to where you can drop on IG and the same button goes straight to Facebook through IG.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, they were connected so I didn't know that so any video on any one-minute video I'm doing on IG.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_07]: It's also going to Facebook, but I might pay attention to Facebook I might make a lot of money.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_07]: I'm just I'm just doing it for love I love art.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_07]: I love the content so I'm just dropping it everywhere and then I looked at Facebook And I had 55,000 followers.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_07]: No, I'm not money.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_07]: I'm going viral over there every if I had 10 videos I'm a six videos in the middle with no bread no bread
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_06]: How old was it?
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_07]: I was a monetized YouTube because at one point on Facebook We only had it had like a beta program to where I found this out.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_07]: They had a beta program where they were trying out new creators and Giving them opportunity to make money.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_07]: The only Cornell was on that program.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't know them that well yet, so I didn't feel comfortable with it.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, how can you get, how can I get them in there?
- 1:03:03[SPEAKER_07]: Like you.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a montage.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_07]: We both went viral over there, but you making money over there.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_07]: He was getting to the back.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_07]: I was broke, still broke.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm saying, but I had 55,000, that had 70,000 of followers over there, then they jumped up to 155,000.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm still Not making a bread.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_07]: I think I I might have been monetized by then.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not sure, but I don't think so I start getting monetized to break.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_07]: I praise you.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, Facebook.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_06]: I remember you told me That Facebook actually pays more than way more at the time at the time What was that?
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_06]: What was the first video that you really got a bag off of?
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_07]: Well, there's like you think it's never like a video because I was dropping so much I and like I say I never really looked at the analytics and know which money was making the most What's the video was making the most to keep it behind it?
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_07]: I was like, oh, I just dropped seven videos this month and it's how much I'm making hell yeah Cash yeah, I wasn't like wish one makes the most I was this dropping kind of you're just working
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_07]: Because that's my motto still the same way and I need to be more intentional the damn it's a guy Damn it's a guy that he's gonna look at the analytics.
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_07]: He's gonna make sure when what what what the what the numbers are doing How they're increasing if you're not increasing the way we need them to why he's doing a lot of that I'm just creating the content like I love this work I think it's hilarious.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_07]: I think y'all gonna like it here.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_07]: I only recommend like that not because I don't care because
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_07]: It's up to I'm just here.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, work mode.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_07]: I just want you to like it.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_07]: And if I don't like it, cool.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_07]: That's fine.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, but if you love it, great.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_07]: I'm saying, keep watching.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_06]: Bye.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_07]: I said, no, it's for you.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_06]: By the end of 18, do you remember around how much you were making, where it's like, yeah, I'm getting into this bag.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_07]: I moved to a spa.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_07]: I probably had a couple hundred thousand.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_07]: Really?
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_07]: Every month, every month, I was on average doing them.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_07]: Combined?
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_07]: Probably about 60 to 70 bands.
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_06]: every month.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_06]: From 2017, lock it in to 2019, read it up, 60, 70 bands every month.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_07]: 2017, 2019, I make a no-brain.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_07]: 2019 is where I made some real braids.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_07]: Man, if I get it, I would say, I think 2019 is when I started making, I got monetized.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, because I was monetizing, I realized I was monetizing in the 2017, 2018, I mean, but I wasn't a semiconductor money, because it was a blaze, YouTube was monetized, but I wasn't, I didn't have no content over there.
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_07]: So I had six pennies over there.
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_06]: But in that year, you realized, oh my gosh, I made a crazy screen.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_06]: And now it's my team!
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_07]: That's what it is, 2019.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_07]: I remember I was going, I went to Vegas from my home boy's a bachelor party.
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_07]: He's getting married.
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_07]: He said, we all want to be all met up in Vegas on my teammates with college.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_07]: And one of my brothers said this day.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_07]: So we all met up to him.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_07]: I had no bread.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_07]: I had a little bit of cheese.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_07]: I had enough to get.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_07]: I had enough to for my.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_07]: We got Airbnb.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_07]: I had we all.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_07]: It was like 10 of us.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_07]: And we had this big air Airbnb.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_07]: We put in like $300 each up.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm had my money, but I know once I get there, I think I drove.
- 1:06:35[SPEAKER_07]: I like wearing the car and I drove the Vegas.
- 1:06:37[SPEAKER_07]: Had the money for I had the money for that, but on my while I was in Vegas, it was like the 20th.
- 1:06:43[SPEAKER_07]: I can you pay every 21st or 20 second of every month.
- 1:06:46[SPEAKER_07]: So I got there on the 20th and the next day, my check came in on the park and I was like, oh,
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_07]: Now I'm in Vegas.
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_07]: Now I'm doing it.
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_07]: I'm cool.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_07]: I've got a couple thousand dollars.
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_07]: And at the time like that's how I was a couple thousand dollars I just got.
- 1:07:01[SPEAKER_07]: So cool.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_07]: I can pay my bills and everything.
- 1:07:04[SPEAKER_07]: My bills are already paid.
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_07]: But so I got to put while paying my bills.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_07]: But I was still broke after that.
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_07]: I'm saying so.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_06]: So tell me what I'm interested in is for one as an incredible journey and it puts things in perspective.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_06]: I lock in 2017 by 2019.
- 1:07:22[SPEAKER_06]: I'm living a dream at this point.
- 1:07:24[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, because you're really getting to this bag.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_06]: But what I was most impressed if I talked about it earlier,
- 1:07:31[SPEAKER_06]: is the collaborations that you had.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_06]: So I'm seeing these same people in the same sketches like Minks and J.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_06]: The Fade, I'm seeing the two young ladies I followed them, too, they're dope.
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_06]: How did that start coming about?
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_07]: Back in 2017, when I first, 2017, I was shooting at the sketch house, I just started over there.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_07]: I was at the gym working out and I ran into one of my homeboys, my comedian homies, Ken, Ken Edwin, said I took my boy Ken, yeah, he's why I started with, I started back in
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_07]: My boy, Chinna do and Chase Manhattan, man.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_07]: Chase Manhattan is a lead or the coat.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_07]: One of the principal characters on the TV show, Bigger, or back in the day.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_07]: Back then, like, by the five six years ago.
- 1:08:27[SPEAKER_07]: And but this is back with this comedian's, this is just starting to accommodate two, that's 2009.
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_07]: And Chinna do, myself and him, start doing the sketches here in their base, so I have me come to the crib and we do a sketches.
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_07]: That was back in 2009, and I wasn't focused yet.
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_07]: I was doing comedy, and they didn't, either one's a time to get a Twitter.
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_07]: You get to do it, don't be comedians, and I was out on those Twitter.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_07]: I don't want no social media.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, you're a comedian, you got to do that.
- 1:08:51[SPEAKER_07]: So fast for it to, 2017, eight years later.
- 1:08:56[SPEAKER_07]: Um, I run to Ken, me and Ken are comedians.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_07]: I know him from comedy.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know him from the, the space of directing and filmmaking.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 1:09:03[SPEAKER_07]: Concentration.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_07]: We're just comedians.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_07]: He's telling me he's working on this web series.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_07]: He showed me this web series.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like, whoa, you doing this?
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_07]: I know you, I know you, I know you, right?
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_07]: I know you create content.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_07]: I thought you just, just stand up like me.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_07]: He's like, oh man, I'm doing this too.
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_07]: I was like, but we got to, we got to link up.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_07]: So we had to be exchange phone numbers, because we do each other for years, but we never had each other's number.
- 1:09:20[SPEAKER_07]: It was like, and the comedy game, I'm going to see you every week, because we
- 1:09:25[SPEAKER_07]: So I always see you and I'm saying, so I got this number, he lived down the street from me.
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_07]: He lived five, six minutes from my house.
- 1:09:31[SPEAKER_07]: I went, bro, I'm pulling up.
- 1:09:32[SPEAKER_07]: So every Wednesday, I started shooting in his house, sketches, every Thursday, I'm at the sketchhouse.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_07]: So I'm shooting sketches twice a day, twice a week, and I'm editing the other day, that's all I'm doing.
- 1:09:43[SPEAKER_07]: And while I'm in town, outside of that, when I'm going, I'm going to the road, doing by doing security.
- 1:09:49[SPEAKER_07]: So I went to the sketchhouse, I met Mike Stair, I met Mike's online.
- 1:09:52[SPEAKER_07]: And in the DMs we DM me and we met and I invited him to the sketch out because at this point in my own league I'll tell you man, it's cool if I'm by somebody.
- 1:10:00[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, if they cool you can buy them cool Got that point.
- 1:10:04[SPEAKER_07]: They rock and want me everybody.
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_07]: You know, I'm saying we shouldn't concentrate together They know I'm a real creator.
- 1:10:08[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a person that got real ideas number.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_07]: I'm putting up dope content
- 1:10:11[SPEAKER_07]: So I met Minks, Minks pulled up and we linked every since then.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_07]: We locked in, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_07]: That's 20, 20, 17, they're in that time.
- 1:10:18[SPEAKER_06]: Um, do you started your channels around the same time?
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
- 1:10:22[SPEAKER_07]: And then I got my channel already.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_07]: He had this channel already.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_07]: Gotcha.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_07]: We got together.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_07]: We was like, bro, we're going to be combined forces.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:10:28[SPEAKER_07]: And we accepted that we can't.
- 1:10:29[SPEAKER_07]: Can't has it already.
- 1:10:29[SPEAKER_07]: Had this channel.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_07]: I met.
- 1:10:31[SPEAKER_07]: So can't had this channel.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_07]: And Minks had this channel.
- 1:10:34[SPEAKER_07]: We met all within the same few months of each other.
- 1:10:36[SPEAKER_07]: And I met Troy at the Sketch House.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, he had his, he had his channel.
- 1:10:40[SPEAKER_07]: He had the most followers, but he had his followers since 2012.
- 1:10:43[SPEAKER_07]: He had 30,000 already, but he had quit, he had kind of like stopped doing it for some years.
- 1:10:48[SPEAKER_07]: And then, so yeah, a dormit page, but he had 35,000 subscribers on IG.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, I'm out on YouTube already.
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_07]: So when we met, we was like, brother, we're going to shoot for each other.
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_07]: We decided, hey, Troy asked me, man, hey, I shoot camera.
- 1:11:00[SPEAKER_07]: I don't shoot on phones.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_07]: I shoot on camera.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_07]: and I won't have a camera anymore.
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_07]: My DP is too busy.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_07]: My camera man is too busy.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_07]: He got other gigs, but you got a camera.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_07]: Would you mind shooting for me?
- 1:11:12[SPEAKER_07]: And I should for you.
- 1:11:13[SPEAKER_07]: We both were broke.
- 1:11:15[SPEAKER_07]: He didn't even have a car at the time.
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_07]: So I was like, I was picking him up.
- 1:11:18[SPEAKER_07]: He lived too.
- 1:11:18[SPEAKER_07]: He didn't live too far from me.
- 1:11:19[SPEAKER_07]: I would pick him up.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_07]: We would drive to the sketchhouse together.
- 1:11:22[SPEAKER_07]: We had just met at the sketch house, excuse me at the sketch house, and so and that's how we started I'm shouldn't freaking no money, he not pay me.
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_07]: He shouldn't for me no money.
- 1:11:32[SPEAKER_07]: He ain't pay me I'm my paying him enjoy.
- 1:11:34[SPEAKER_07]: I'm my paying nobody means I taught me how to use the camera and he started shooting my my content for free.
- 1:11:41[SPEAKER_07]: I saw all saw all his content for free
- 1:11:43[SPEAKER_07]: And that's how we worked it.
- 1:11:44[SPEAKER_07]: And that's how anybody is trying to make it with no bread.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_07]: You have to find like many people.
- 1:11:49[SPEAKER_07]: You have to find people that's just like you.
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_07]: They have no money.
- 1:11:51[SPEAKER_07]: They can pay you in effort and you pay them in effort.
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_07]: And that's how we did.
- 1:11:57[SPEAKER_07]: And so at that point, I had a camera guy anytime I wanted one.
- 1:12:01[SPEAKER_07]: I could either call it Minks.
- 1:12:02[SPEAKER_07]: You're busy, cool.
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_07]: You're a kid.
- 1:12:04[SPEAKER_07]: You're busy, you're a Troy.
- 1:12:06[SPEAKER_07]: I got you.
- 1:12:07[SPEAKER_07]: Let's do it.
- 1:12:07[SPEAKER_06]: That's dope.
- 1:12:07[SPEAKER_07]: And now, in tomorrow, I'm shooting for you tomorrow.
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_07]: I'm shooting for you.
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_07]: The after that, I'm shooting for you.
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_07]: And we ain't nobody ain't nobody.
- 1:12:14[SPEAKER_07]: We not monetize yet.
- 1:12:15[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, this is 2017.
- 1:12:15[SPEAKER_07]: We're not making no money.
- 1:12:17[SPEAKER_07]: We just making content and loving our content.
- 1:12:20[SPEAKER_07]: And we laugh and I mean, do this, say this.
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, and I'm directing most of the day stuff, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_06]: And I was able to see that you all progressively got better cameras, better looks and better you're understanding lighting and audio a little better.
- 1:12:35[SPEAKER_06]: I'm seeing that.
- 1:12:36[SPEAKER_06]: When was how did the lesbian home come about?
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_06]: Because what would you say that's your most successful
- 1:12:44[SPEAKER_06]: thing?
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:12:46[SPEAKER_06]: Let's be home.
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_07]: It's for us views.
- 1:12:49[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 1:12:50[SPEAKER_07]: And even because the first thing that cracked off was Tiberius, that's what the man, that's what all the celebrity dudes was reposting and sharing it.
- 1:12:58[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm saying so, but before I even got there, let's be home.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_07]: I had viral videos from
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_07]: Tiberius, I'm coming to, and that was the whole, those are two different series, two different characters, and those are both doing well at the time.
- 1:13:13[SPEAKER_07]: So, and that's how I met E, E, shout out to exactly E, she DM me, and she was like, hey, I would love to be in the videos if you ever find something for me, I get roll for me, I'm down, I'm here everybody, so you act, have you active before it?
- 1:13:28[SPEAKER_07]: No, but I'm a quick learner.
- 1:13:29[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm saying, so I look at her page, I'm like, I'll shoot, she's tall, she looks like six, too.
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, she'll know where I am saying.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_07]: And she had tattooed a short haircut the time, I like man, she looked like a little stud.
- 1:13:40[SPEAKER_07]: I got a sexy ass stud.
- 1:13:42[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm saying, so, my job got this idea for a lesbian home girl that got hell of body.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_07]: That was the name of the show.
- 1:13:49[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, the name of the sketch, it was just one sketch initially.
- 1:13:51[SPEAKER_07]: It was called the lesbian home me got body.
- 1:13:53[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I wasn't, it wasn't a lesbian.
- 1:13:55[SPEAKER_07]: I shorted it to the lesbian homie part one part two part three Because it was supposed to be just a sketch and the day we made the first episode The first in the only episode was the first day we met.
- 1:14:07[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, she drove over to the creative.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_07]: We met
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_07]: And we tapped it up for about 20, 30 minutes, kind of built the report, cracking gels, you didn't know each other, where you from, how do you, what you do, you know, advice versa, and show you, we can ready.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_07]: I gave her some of my clothes, because she's, she's not a stud, she's ready to check, she had like on some leggings and like a top.
- 1:14:25[SPEAKER_07]: And I was like, well, sir, pulling these panties shorty basketball shorts and just do ragging as long.
- 1:14:31[SPEAKER_07]: This big ass, uh, baggy ST, and she put it on and she sted to herself out, you know, uh, and then we shot that sketch.
- 1:14:38[SPEAKER_07]: It's like, well, I don't know if it was three to four.
- 1:14:39[SPEAKER_07]: I had to look back to see how long it was.
- 1:14:41[SPEAKER_07]: It wasn't more than five minutes five minutes sketch and that was just the sketch idea I had That um blew up a job to create you.
- 1:14:49[SPEAKER_06]: I remember it like and I couldn't wait for the next one to drop I was couldn't wait.
- 1:14:54[SPEAKER_06]: I'm like.
- 1:14:54[SPEAKER_07]: I hope you do another one You know what you plan on it because we had just met she lived far she lived like our way and we and it was she wouldn't somebody I had built
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_07]: By that time already this is damn it.
- 1:15:06[SPEAKER_07]: This end of 2018.
- 1:15:07[SPEAKER_07]: So it was almost a year and it's changed already I've already built my crew of people.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_07]: I'm shooting with and I meet her
- 1:15:16[SPEAKER_07]: and she wasn't really shooting.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_07]: She was like the first time she was really shooting content.
- 1:15:20[SPEAKER_06]: Really?
- 1:15:20[SPEAKER_06]: She's a good actor, bro.
- 1:15:22[SPEAKER_06]: She's good.
- 1:15:23[SPEAKER_06]: She played that role, bro.
- 1:15:25[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:26[SPEAKER_07]: And so, yeah, man, so, but she was so new to at the time.
- 1:15:31[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm used to people living in North Hollywood up to street down the street, you know, saying, ready to work, rocking any time.
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_07]: And she was so far away.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_07]: She was still in the schools, she was in college.
- 1:15:40[SPEAKER_07]: And so we shot that over the course of maybe five months we shot that first season and it was supposed to be just one episode And I was only catching on the weekends one day out the week.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I'm saying she had a son too So she was like days as she wasn't very available so we can shoot as often as I will what I wanted to
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_07]: Plus we had just met and I was certain other stuff at that time when we shot let's me Help me the first one the lesbian got body.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_07]: Let's be homie got body.
- 1:16:06[SPEAKER_07]: I had Tiberius I was dropping that in the same month, so in the same week I might drop Tiberius.
- 1:16:13[SPEAKER_07]: I'm coming to
- 1:16:15[SPEAKER_07]: The whole crew is stupid.
- 1:16:17[SPEAKER_07]: The whole crew is stupid.
- 1:16:19[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 1:16:19[SPEAKER_07]: And let's be homies.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_07]: That's four different sketch series that I created.
- 1:16:23[SPEAKER_07]: And I was dropping on the monthly basis.
- 1:16:26[SPEAKER_07]: Why?
- 1:16:26[SPEAKER_07]: And that's when the numbers are going.
- 1:16:29[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:16:30[SPEAKER_07]: So even though like.
- 1:16:32[SPEAKER_07]: At the time, let's be homey was one of four very, very successful sketches, sketch ideas, and so if I'm dropping, if I got videos that got, if I got four million views from that video, I'm coming to, I'm coming to, I'm coming to you got five million videos and the whole crew of stupid got six million views.
- 1:16:55[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, Tiberius got four million views, so
- 1:16:58[SPEAKER_07]: It was a, it's, it's my most popular show because I took the most time with it.
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_06]: Got it.
- 1:17:04[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:17:05[SPEAKER_07]: It was popular, but it was, I was going viral, but all my different shows, all my shows.
- 1:17:10[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:17:11[SPEAKER_07]: But I was like, man, this is what this one, um,
- 1:17:14[SPEAKER_07]: I said, I said, I started doing more stuff with it, and so it became bigger because type of period I was doing.
- 1:17:24[SPEAKER_07]: At that point, if you watch type of, it wasn't a show, it was just like a PSA every episode.
- 1:17:31[SPEAKER_07]: What's going on was to become a type of period.
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_07]: It was like a call the action type video.
- 1:17:36[SPEAKER_07]: And the whole crew was stupid.
- 1:17:37[SPEAKER_07]: I turned that into a tour.
- 1:17:40[SPEAKER_07]: And now it's a homo.
- 1:17:41[SPEAKER_07]: I got a movie written that must shoot this year.
- 1:17:43[SPEAKER_06]: That's what I mean.
- 1:17:44[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, let me ask this too.
- 1:17:46[SPEAKER_06]: With E, she hits you up like y'all.
- 1:17:49[SPEAKER_06]: I just want to be down.
- 1:17:50[SPEAKER_06]: I want to see it.
- 1:17:52[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_06]: As it starts picking up, did you, did you want to get paid?
- 1:17:58[SPEAKER_06]: Did you?
- 1:17:58[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 1:17:59[SPEAKER_07]: So, actually, that was, that was, that was interesting, that was interesting.
- 1:18:04[SPEAKER_07]: Transition.
- 1:18:05[SPEAKER_06]: Because I saw the new one, there was another young lady that was on there and he wasn't there when you produced it, right?
- 1:18:12[SPEAKER_06]: And I was like, and I was wondering like, hey, what happened?
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_06]: Where are you?
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:17[SPEAKER_07]: So my, just as long as I'm ago, this is 2019 at the time, she asked me to be in the project and I was there, though.
- 1:18:28[SPEAKER_07]: She asked me to be in something, she didn't even know what it was yet.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't know what it was yet.
- 1:18:32[SPEAKER_06]: I'm looking at what she was like, I want to be in skin.
- 1:18:33[SPEAKER_07]: When I, when I meet people who don't do this, I'm like, I look at how can I work with her or him?
- 1:18:39[SPEAKER_07]: Because usually, you had to already be doing it for me to know if you're good, that's how you audition.
- 1:18:44[SPEAKER_07]: Because I wasn't holding auditions and it wasn't coming to like a room and auditioning for a role and one of my pieces of content.
- 1:18:50[SPEAKER_07]: But me going to your page and seeing you already acting, seeing you already creating your own content, is already an audition.
- 1:18:58[SPEAKER_07]: So when I met over and I met Cornel, I know what I could put him in in my content.
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_07]: Because I see his work, I'm a fan of his work, when I see minks, when I see Ken, when I see Troy, I see all these guys I'm working with, they have their own pages, they make their own content before I met them.
- 1:19:13[SPEAKER_07]: So I'm like, oh, you don't have to audition for me, because I already see you all this.
- 1:19:16[SPEAKER_07]: I see what you, what you made of, I see what you can bring.
- 1:19:19[SPEAKER_07]: She had nothing, she was doing like modeling at the time, so she was never, she was acting, so I didn't even know what to do with her.
- 1:19:25[SPEAKER_07]: I didn't know how good she could be, how good she can act, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:19:28[SPEAKER_07]: So, initially, she was like, whenever you, whenever you ready, let me know, I would love to be.
- 1:19:34[SPEAKER_07]: I would love to work with you.
- 1:19:34[SPEAKER_07]: That's the energy initially.
- 1:19:35[SPEAKER_10]: For sure.
- 1:19:36[SPEAKER_07]: They didn't read it.
- 1:19:37[SPEAKER_07]: She did one video with me.
- 1:19:38[SPEAKER_07]: It blew up.
- 1:19:40[SPEAKER_07]: And like a lot of people, I don't even blame her now, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:19:42[SPEAKER_07]: People are like, oh snap, we, you know, she's our film herself, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:19:47[SPEAKER_07]: She said you should be proud of yourself for sure.
- 1:19:49[SPEAKER_07]: And she's a very attractive woman.
- 1:19:52[SPEAKER_07]: And so it made sense that it worked.
- 1:19:54[SPEAKER_07]: That it blew up so much.
- 1:19:56[SPEAKER_07]: Some people, and like I said, we're good now.
- 1:19:59[SPEAKER_07]: We're good now for sure.
- 1:20:02[SPEAKER_07]: Some people feel, not, not understand how hard it is to do what we do here.
- 1:20:07[SPEAKER_07]: And some people not just hurt, but some people might feel like, hey, I'm, I deserve this now.
- 1:20:13[SPEAKER_07]: I deserve this, I expect that.
- 1:20:14[SPEAKER_07]: But during that time, when I first started shooting,
- 1:20:19[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I'm saying and the money I did make you'll see in the middle of season one of Lesbian homie The camera shows looking better the sound so looking better.
- 1:20:27[SPEAKER_07]: I'm starting putting money into and to the work So anybody I'm getting I'm putting back into the company.
- 1:20:33[SPEAKER_07]: I'm saying I built a company now and now I got L.C.
- 1:20:35[SPEAKER_07]: I'm saying.
- 1:20:36[SPEAKER_06]: So I was that conversation I mean Was it because at first it was like y'all let me just work with you.
- 1:20:42[SPEAKER_07]: They didn't got to the point where Hey, I'm a neat this
- 1:20:47[SPEAKER_07]: Huh?
- 1:20:49[SPEAKER_07]: You're gonna need, you need, you need, you need.
- 1:20:52[SPEAKER_07]: If I'm gonna continue to do this, I'm gonna say, oh, sure.
- 1:20:55[SPEAKER_07]: But the mind should remind you this six years ago.
- 1:20:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:20:58[SPEAKER_07]: Now it was about to be seven.
- 1:21:01[SPEAKER_07]: So, and, and something, so I, I don't, I don't like that too much, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:21:07[SPEAKER_06]: That wasn't the agreement.
- 1:21:08[SPEAKER_07]: This might be the first I'm telling them about this behind-the-scenes, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:21:10[SPEAKER_07]: This is in the past, so this is now how we are now.
- 1:21:12[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:21:12[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, now we're great, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:21:14[SPEAKER_07]: But even if we were good then like we didn't have we we worked well together.
- 1:21:18[SPEAKER_07]: We made some funny stuff together some good stuff But we didn't know each other.
- 1:21:22[SPEAKER_07]: We weren't friends.
- 1:21:23[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I'm saying we would just see what I was someone that she wanted to work with because things are gonna go viral.
- 1:21:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah
- 1:21:29[SPEAKER_07]: and she was somebody that I saw when I met her, I was like, I'll get that pick on my garage.
- 1:21:32[SPEAKER_07]: She looks good, she's pretty, super pretty, and she was nice, she was easy to work with, and that's what matters most to me.
- 1:21:40[SPEAKER_07]: Anybody that knows me, he interviewed anybody, they say, nobody's rude, anybody falling out, anybody arguing on my sets ever.
- 1:21:48[SPEAKER_06]: For you, was it the way it got approached?
- 1:21:53[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, of course.
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_07]: I told you this, too.
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_07]: It was too text, too.
- 1:21:55[SPEAKER_07]: It was too text.
- 1:21:56[SPEAKER_07]: So a lot of things people can get lost in translation through text.
- 1:21:59[SPEAKER_07]: If you're not having a conversation, it's just a text and sometimes things feel like it's just blunt.
- 1:22:04[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm like, oh, I don't want the way that sounds.
- 1:22:07[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:22:07[SPEAKER_07]: I've never in my life said that to somebody else.
- 1:22:09[SPEAKER_06]: I like the way it reads.
- 1:22:10[SPEAKER_07]: Actually, I don't want the way it reads exactly.
- 1:22:14[SPEAKER_07]: I don't like the way it reads, now I like the way it sounds on my head, and so do you remember how much she wanted that that's all?
- 1:22:22[SPEAKER_07]: No, she didn't even have a mouth, she was like, I need to get this, and um, she's like, yeah, I just need, I need to be paid now.
- 1:22:30[SPEAKER_07]: And yeah, I see, or what, what you mean?
- 1:22:36[SPEAKER_07]: Because, and this is how I am with anybody, it's not even a personal thing, because me, her, I never just liked her personally.
- 1:22:42[SPEAKER_07]: I don't think she ever just like me personally.
- 1:22:44[SPEAKER_07]: But I think that conversation really the wrong way, and if it never, it just got worse from there.
- 1:22:51[SPEAKER_07]: Because now I just want my fight, oh, I'm not used to that.
- 1:22:53[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not used to anybody feeling like they're entitled to something.
- 1:22:56[SPEAKER_07]: Or they're gonna need something from me if they want to work with me.
- 1:22:59[SPEAKER_07]: Like, almost like you're doing me a favor.
- 1:23:00[SPEAKER_07]: Absolutely not.
- 1:23:01[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I'm gonna do a new favorite.
- 1:23:03[SPEAKER_07]: I don't even look at it like that.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_07]: Some people might feel it.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, but initially you were because I mean, yeah, she didn't have the notoriety and I didn't with notoriety comes kind of maybe people in your ear or it's like, yo
- 1:23:17[SPEAKER_06]: I made this happen.
- 1:23:20[SPEAKER_06]: Not knowing you have to go into the thinking, the editing, the putting enemy all that kind of stuff.
- 1:23:26[SPEAKER_06]: The way she's not wrong, especially you said she had to drive for an hour, but I think this just goes to show sometimes how you say something.
- 1:23:35[SPEAKER_07]: And I said, it's how you say it.
- 1:23:37[SPEAKER_07]: If you, I'm very approachable, I think anybody would tell you that.
- 1:23:40[SPEAKER_07]: And then if I'm not, I would love for somebody to say, not, he asked, oh, he, he disrespectful.
- 1:23:45[SPEAKER_07]: He yelled at me because me, I'm never, they can't, he ain't nobody said that.
- 1:23:48[SPEAKER_07]: So I was like, hey, and once again, this is years ago, we are in great space now.
- 1:23:53[SPEAKER_07]: Um, but like I said, oh, I'm like the way I sound, it sounds like it's automating like like either to work with me.
- 1:23:59[SPEAKER_07]: I'm going to have to pay you this and the other and that's not how it get down.
- 1:24:02[SPEAKER_07]: That's not how it is in this vice versa.
- 1:24:04[SPEAKER_07]: I've never asked somebody if you want me to come over to your house to shoot a sketch with you.
- 1:24:08[SPEAKER_07]: You had to pay me.
- 1:24:09[SPEAKER_07]: I'm big job.
- 1:24:10[SPEAKER_07]: Never.
- 1:24:10[SPEAKER_07]: To this day.
- 1:24:12[SPEAKER_07]: To this day.
- 1:24:13[SPEAKER_07]: The homie, if you want to search for me, David Shansperr, I'm your boy, I'm with it, let's do it.
- 1:24:19[SPEAKER_07]: But when people start doing that, my response is okay, what happens when you want me to search for you?
- 1:24:26[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, how much you going to have to pay me?
- 1:24:28[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:24:29[SPEAKER_07]: I've never had this conversation with anybody, this for the record, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:24:32[SPEAKER_07]: But like, because I don't leave with that, I'll deal with the art, I'm saying, especially if you make your own content, but she didn't make her own content, she didn't do it, she went in the actress, she wasn't a creator.
- 1:24:41[SPEAKER_07]: So I don't think there was no skin in the game for her, they were like, well shoot, if I shoot for you, shoot for me, we could easily did that.
- 1:24:47[SPEAKER_07]: And that's what we're difference in, difference is,
- 1:24:49[SPEAKER_07]: And when you pull someone into the content creation world it's transactional for them sometimes and they see oh you make a money Are you going viral?
- 1:24:57[SPEAKER_07]: You guys are making money and I don't know it's a lot of times not just her it's people other people getting their head Yeah, no one understands this world until you're in it
- 1:25:07[SPEAKER_07]: Somebody, hey man, how much, oh, that video got millions of views, Sue, Sue, you can pay how much you can pay for that, why don't you pay, you can get paid, I'm sure I don't know about my guarantee, I was sure that's what happened and she kind of told me later on, that's what happened, so yeah, air, and I'm like, ah, that's crazy.
- 1:25:25[SPEAKER_06]: I want to get to that, but like you move forward and you find the next young lady to play,
- 1:25:35[SPEAKER_06]: production.
- 1:25:37[SPEAKER_06]: And that hits.
- 1:25:41[SPEAKER_06]: Because we now, we now know it's not anyone person is the concept itself.
- 1:25:46[SPEAKER_07]: It's the concept.
- 1:25:47[SPEAKER_06]: You are producing it, right?
- 1:25:48[SPEAKER_06]: Right.
- 1:25:49[SPEAKER_06]: But I do want to know because I saw our comeback.
- 1:25:51[SPEAKER_06]: How did how did it reconcile?
- 1:25:53[SPEAKER_06]: Conversation?
- 1:25:54[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and thing is, and hold on before you answer that, what's the, what's the new, the new or the second per 70, per 70, per 70, per 70, per 70, per 70, per 70, or 70, did you approach that one differently like, okay, per 70, I want you to skip, this is going to be how much I pay.
- 1:26:12[SPEAKER_07]: She was like in my partner, he's already shooting, we grew together, we started shooting content together her and I.
- 1:26:17[SPEAKER_07]: So I was already I already knew her since 2017.
- 1:26:19[SPEAKER_07]: Now we're in 2019.
- 1:26:22[SPEAKER_07]: So I knew I knew her already shooting sketches where never paid her a dime.
- 1:26:27[SPEAKER_07]: That's another thing, she was like like she kind of at the time, but once again this is not me bad mountain just the
- 1:26:33[SPEAKER_08]: Well, that's good.
- 1:26:33[SPEAKER_07]: This is, this is, we have been years ago.
- 1:26:36[SPEAKER_07]: Before we had the conversation before, she asserted to understand the world of concentration and how it worked.
- 1:26:42[SPEAKER_07]: And she was like, yeah, everybody's getting paid with me.
- 1:26:44[SPEAKER_07]: It was like, no one's getting paid.
- 1:26:47[SPEAKER_07]: What are you talking about?
- 1:26:48[SPEAKER_07]: But she never had a conversation with me.
- 1:26:50[SPEAKER_07]: She is, one day she just said, she did some money or else, basically.
- 1:26:54[SPEAKER_07]: And I was like, okay, I don't like that.
- 1:26:56[SPEAKER_07]: So we still worked a couple times
- 1:27:00[SPEAKER_07]: I knew that this wasn't somebody I probably could grow with.
- 1:27:03[SPEAKER_06]: But you gave her the money that she asked for.
- 1:27:05[SPEAKER_06]: No, last couple times.
- 1:27:07[SPEAKER_07]: Uh, that's not true.
- 1:27:08[SPEAKER_07]: I did eventually gave her some money.
- 1:27:10[SPEAKER_07]: Uh, I would have gave her a lot more if she came and we could write.
- 1:27:13[SPEAKER_06]: It feels pretty, yeah.
- 1:27:14[SPEAKER_06]: This is the important conversation because, um, this is valuable.
- 1:27:18[SPEAKER_06]: You can't just pull people together and say, all right, we're going to shoot this.
- 1:27:21[SPEAKER_06]: This thing becomes successful.
- 1:27:23[SPEAKER_06]: And now people looking at you like, yo, bro, what's up?
- 1:27:26[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I need something.
- 1:27:28[SPEAKER_06]: So you didn't even have to have that conversation with Priscilla because Precepti, Precepti, Precepti, you didn't have that conversation.
- 1:27:34[SPEAKER_06]: One, she's a constant creator and she understands the value of the non-righty.
- 1:27:38[SPEAKER_07]: right, right.
- 1:27:39[SPEAKER_07]: And knowing how to not finesse it, yeah, for that little better term, finesse it already, have benefit her own brand.
- 1:27:49[SPEAKER_07]: For sure.
- 1:27:49[SPEAKER_07]: Objective is shoot a shoot a shoot a sketch with big job.
- 1:27:53[SPEAKER_07]: It's going to get, it's going to get with me.
- 1:27:56[SPEAKER_07]: It's going to get big.
- 1:27:57[SPEAKER_07]: It's going to go viral.
- 1:27:58[SPEAKER_07]: You're going to get a lot of followers because of it.
- 1:28:00[SPEAKER_07]: Now you have to show them what you are about, what your branch is, bringing them over to you.
- 1:28:06[SPEAKER_07]: And so that's what happened with Stephanie when she met me, she was already doing their thing.
- 1:28:10[SPEAKER_07]: And when she started to sketch with me and other people, not just me, she was shooting with other creators as well, but most of them mostly me.
- 1:28:19[SPEAKER_07]: She's her following one up crazy of course and she knew what to do.
- 1:28:24[SPEAKER_07]: She was doing her own content And so she was that and that was the benefit.
- 1:28:27[SPEAKER_07]: That's when when two created the work together They collab together.
- 1:28:30[SPEAKER_07]: It's not about how much money you can get from me or how much money I can get from you.
- 1:28:33[SPEAKER_07]: It's about how many followers how much not a variety how much how how how popular can I get with working with you and vice versa Yeah, so I I was watching a content that I started following me and I started following all these other people because
- 1:28:49[SPEAKER_06]: I saw them where you are but you still have to have something for me to say oh, this is good
- 1:28:56[SPEAKER_07]: Right, of course, you got to be good and even with her, like she understands now and she understood she started to understand later earlier too, this is years ago and she didn't understand that you're supposed to, if you want to go, if you want to see one to get famous, you want to get popular on and in it, but once you do that, you have to have something to keep them for sure, her followers and book skyrocketed when she starts shooting with me.
- 1:29:20[SPEAKER_07]: That was what that was that was the payment So because my follow-ins started cracking too.
- 1:29:26[SPEAKER_07]: It was already cracking.
- 1:29:27[SPEAKER_07]: I was already going viral before I met her But it was it started to continue Once I got one it continued even more when she got one here and I saw shooting that that project together
- 1:29:37[SPEAKER_07]: And I was cool, I never expected her to have for no money.
- 1:29:40[SPEAKER_07]: And she did, we could have talked about it.
- 1:29:43[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, cool, boom, you're supposed to get monetized, because she, I was like, I treated her to the same way every single person I should win, whether it's male or female, bro, get you a page.
- 1:29:55[SPEAKER_07]: And then start creating your own content, build your own brand.
- 1:29:58[SPEAKER_07]: So you can start making money like I'm making, and even more, for sure.
- 1:30:01[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:30:02[SPEAKER_07]: Man.
- 1:30:02[SPEAKER_06]: this bro, these are the conversations you need to be had, but you know, as we wrap man, what are you doing now?
- 1:30:12[SPEAKER_06]: First off, oh man, I hope you guys have time.
- 1:30:15[SPEAKER_06]: I want to know, because I remember you came to studio, you were like, I'm about to drop it as like, I like a movie essentially.
- 1:30:22[SPEAKER_06]: And you wound up putting it on to me?
- 1:30:26[SPEAKER_07]: Initially, no, we did season two, and years later, we did, from 2019 to about 2022, we did season two of us, me and me.
- 1:30:37[SPEAKER_07]: And I was trying to figure out how to promote that.
- 1:30:41[SPEAKER_07]: It was going to be on YouTube, of course, but we ended up doing the paywall.
- 1:30:45[SPEAKER_07]: So paywall, we work with moment.co.
- 1:30:48[SPEAKER_07]: And so on YouTube, you can watch each episode every week.
- 1:30:52[SPEAKER_07]: It was 10 episodes.
- 1:30:53[SPEAKER_07]: So the first week.
- 1:30:54[SPEAKER_07]: You watch it for free.
- 1:30:56[SPEAKER_07]: You have the way to the second week on Tuesday to watch it every Tuesday for 10 weeks You can watch the next episode.
- 1:31:02[SPEAKER_07]: See you in the wait each episode each week to watch the next episode Or you can go to a moment that code at the time and watch the whole video and buy the whole season Did a lot of people opt in to buy?
- 1:31:16[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, every single person, but yeah, it was a good amount of people going over there to this day to day and wait, I don't want to wait, I'm going to watch it all now.
- 1:31:23[SPEAKER_07]: So don't pay for it, or you can wait for it, watch it for free on YouTube once a week.
- 1:31:27[SPEAKER_06]: But either way, you're going to pay for it now or they're going to watch it all YouTube, but you're going to make money from YouTube.
- 1:31:31[SPEAKER_06]: So you really burn the candle above ends.
- 1:31:33[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, sir.
- 1:31:34[SPEAKER_07]: That's brilliant, actually.
- 1:31:35[SPEAKER_07]: And after YouTube, and after 10 weeks or over, and we finally found a company that we can work with.
- 1:31:41[SPEAKER_07]: I was willing to work with us to put episode season two on Tobi.
- 1:31:46[SPEAKER_07]: Got it.
- 1:31:48[SPEAKER_06]: Tobi makes money?
- 1:31:49[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 1:31:50[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, you don't have to answer if you don't want, but that series, what do you think it's paid you on Tubey?
- 1:31:57[SPEAKER_06]: Because I don't understand how.
- 1:32:00[SPEAKER_07]: Tubey works just like a YouTube, it's a revenue share, I believe, so can you watch Tubey and the commercials come up, so I don't know.
- 1:32:13[SPEAKER_07]: Once again, the analytics, you know, I was in day and my no more about that.
- 1:32:16[SPEAKER_07]: Like, I, I, how much per view or CPM, you know, that stuff, but, but you get a check from to me.
- 1:32:23[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 1:32:23[SPEAKER_06]: Like, like, what are those?
- 1:32:26[SPEAKER_07]: So, I think the first, we had one title up there, the first check.
- 1:32:38[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, more than you, yeah.
- 1:32:39[SPEAKER_08]: So, to me, go crazy.
- 1:32:41[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, um, yeah, it's more of you too.
- 1:32:43[SPEAKER_06]: But I'm sure I get an idea.
- 1:32:44[SPEAKER_06]: So, okay, if you remember what your first check was, I want everybody in your pockets, but I need to get an understanding of the possibilities.
- 1:32:53[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, it's, it's, uh, how could I put this?
- 1:33:00[SPEAKER_06]: like five figure checks and to me.
- 1:33:02[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, he said it like that.
- 1:33:05[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Yikes.
- 1:33:09[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
- 1:33:09[SPEAKER_06]: All right.
- 1:33:09[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, so now I need to start.
- 1:33:10[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 1:33:11[SPEAKER_07]: Now he's staying home.
- 1:33:14[SPEAKER_07]: I can give you all the game afterwards.
- 1:33:16[SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
- 1:33:16[SPEAKER_07]: And but like just for the online for sure, I can say yesterday.
- 1:33:21[SPEAKER_07]: I will say yesterday, but my only hesitation is that let me let me see
- 1:33:26[SPEAKER_07]: Bring them all out of right now online.
- 1:33:29[SPEAKER_06]: Okay.
- 1:33:30[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
- 1:33:51[SPEAKER_06]: Is it to be transparent?
- 1:33:53[SPEAKER_07]: It's not to be, it's the aggregating company.
- 1:33:56[SPEAKER_07]: It's the middle man.
- 1:33:57[SPEAKER_07]: I see.
- 1:33:58[SPEAKER_07]: I just, we just started working with to be directly.
- 1:34:01[SPEAKER_07]: Before that, it was, we were going through a middle man.
- 1:34:04[SPEAKER_07]: A company that, and shout out to them, I'm saying.
- 1:34:07[SPEAKER_07]: But because that was the only way of getting it to to be was through them or another company.
- 1:34:12[SPEAKER_07]: But this particular company, we had to go back to figure out,
- 1:34:15[SPEAKER_07]: We wanted to transparency.
- 1:34:17[SPEAKER_07]: We wanted to be able to see the numbers ahead of time and if we couldn't see that then that we're not working with y'all got it God damn, so if they're not willing to show you what the analytics are then what's the point of me?
- 1:34:30[SPEAKER_07]: I just had to trust y'all We don't know y'all.
- 1:34:32[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I'm saying.
- 1:34:33[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, he had to give us some type of look in the background to see what the show was doing I was y'all just giving us a check and we don't know if it's a legit check for what we really deserve or not
- 1:34:45[SPEAKER_06]: What's the next project that you're dropping now?
- 1:34:49[SPEAKER_07]: uh currently right now i just finished a series called lab is a new series is an anthology um it's a westology anthology what do i mean it means like each episode is different okay so like you you ever watch black mirror our american horror story well you watch it it can be 10 episodes but each episode is 10 different stories so i might my character might be uh more recent in this sketch and i mean that's sketch but in this episode called baby drama and in the next episode is called i want to get to my name is corveo
- 1:35:19[SPEAKER_07]: I see, so it's just a collection of different their episode, my name is Terry.
- 1:35:23[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a different character.
- 1:35:24[SPEAKER_07]: And how long are these episodes?
- 1:35:26[SPEAKER_07]: About 25 of 22 minutes.
- 1:35:29[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, wow.
- 1:35:29[SPEAKER_06]: So you're shooting the full, okay?
- 1:35:31[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, so it's a full-out show.
- 1:35:32[SPEAKER_07]: It's a TV show that's on that streaming on Tubi.
- 1:35:34[SPEAKER_07]: And it's going straight to Tubi.
- 1:35:36[SPEAKER_07]: Jenny, where are you 13th?
- 1:35:38[SPEAKER_07]: It airs on the first episode, airs on Tubi.
- 1:35:40[SPEAKER_07]: Jenny, where are 13th?
- 1:35:41[SPEAKER_07]: Oh.
- 1:35:42[SPEAKER_07]: Last dance for life and usually great here.
- 1:35:45[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm saying I'm from the hood, man.
- 1:35:46[SPEAKER_07]: So life ain't always great.
- 1:35:47[SPEAKER_07]: And life ain't usually great when I grew up at, you know what I'm saying, but you still have a laugh, man, you still have a lot of stuff.
- 1:35:54[SPEAKER_06]: So it's like, how many episodes is H?
- 1:35:57[SPEAKER_06]: 8 episodes, 8, 25 and up the bro, you are.
- 1:36:01[SPEAKER_06]: This is like real filmmaking stuff, bro.
- 1:36:05[SPEAKER_07]: That's why I've been trying to do since I left college.
- 1:36:10[SPEAKER_07]: Even though you already heard some of my stories, some of it, I lost focus here and there was just doing all kinds of different jobs, but I've always went to my TV and movies and that's what we doing.
- 1:36:18[SPEAKER_07]: So, and the goal is to do my first feature this year, that's to go, I'm going to get in up for that, you know, but I have laugh coming now, I'm about to go into the season five, well that's me and homey.
- 1:36:30[SPEAKER_07]: And you'll see me, you'll see Bruce, you'll see Reese and you'll see E.
- 1:36:34[SPEAKER_07]: Are you going to straight to to be straight to be straight to see if I'm passing you to yes Initially we I'm always going to show that to you too, so but initially Maybe we reverse and usually it's always going to YouTube first and then it's going to to be after But now we're doing to be first and it will also be on YouTube for those who don't cuz not everybody's own to be Yeah, and I'm not everybody's on YouTube so you still want to see it.
- 1:36:58[SPEAKER_07]: You'll still be able to see it for sure but
- 1:37:02[SPEAKER_06]: with direct sales on the site, meaning someone can, you can always buy it right now.
- 1:37:08[SPEAKER_07]: Yep.
- 1:37:08[SPEAKER_07]: Yep.
- 1:37:09[SPEAKER_07]: Got it.
- 1:37:10[SPEAKER_07]: Always wants you, always want to give that access to you.
- 1:37:12[SPEAKER_07]: If you want to see it all right now, put it in the website.
- 1:37:15[SPEAKER_07]: Invite.
- 1:37:17[SPEAKER_07]: Which is not true, you can watch it for free.
- 1:37:18[SPEAKER_07]: Which is your ultimate goal?
- 1:37:20[SPEAKER_07]: All to make a goal is to make movies and not say change, make a dent in the culture.
- 1:37:30[SPEAKER_07]: I want people to look at my films as classics, like the Fridays and the Don't Be A Menaces and Boys in the Hoods and the Malcolm Maxis, you know what I mean?
- 1:37:39[SPEAKER_07]: So my goal is to make films like that that people talk about 30 years later.
- 1:37:43[SPEAKER_07]: The 30th anniversary of this film.
- 1:37:45[SPEAKER_06]: Let's say the lesbian homie, right?
- 1:37:48[SPEAKER_06]: Would you turn that?
- 1:37:50[SPEAKER_06]: Is an idea to turn that into like one of these classic films because it's not a film at this point.
- 1:37:55[SPEAKER_07]: It's a series, it's a show.
- 1:37:56[SPEAKER_06]: Right, but is that one vision you have where you have like another vision of something that's going to be the classic?
- 1:38:01[SPEAKER_07]: Got another vision for other things.
- 1:38:03[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm saying, I love, let's be homey for what it is.
- 1:38:06[SPEAKER_07]: And I love everybody on the show.
- 1:38:09[SPEAKER_07]: And I got to say all the things you told my with E, that was six years ago.
- 1:38:13[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm saying, me and her, and they're waiting by their place now.
- 1:38:15[SPEAKER_07]: And it was never hate.
- 1:38:17[SPEAKER_07]: There was no, there was a lot of misunderstanding at the time.
- 1:38:20[SPEAKER_07]: but we talked about it, we clicked it up and once again we did, she wasn't in season two, but she's in season three, four and now she's in season five and we're in a good place.
- 1:38:30[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, through all year, you still have the same relationship like some of the actors in these skits, even though they know, like, you know, this is a real financial plan.
- 1:38:40[SPEAKER_06]: Is it still the same as y'all?
- 1:38:42[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, you joined your mother?
- 1:38:43[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know, no, they can pay now.
- 1:38:45[SPEAKER_07]: That's why it's budget, it's a budget for the project, so I'm paying everybody to get paid from cash, crew, writers, I'm saying producers, yeah, everyone gets paid, and so yeah, everybody eats me, everybody ate back then too, but it was the way the it was and it wasn't monetary currency, it was it was a time and effort, yeah, and she didn't understand at the time because she was new to it, yeah for sure, him saying, but she went on
- 1:39:14[SPEAKER_07]: I think she realized, oh, this is work.
- 1:39:16[SPEAKER_07]: It's a lot of them saying, so you can't just, this because you want viral, you can't play well.
- 1:39:19[SPEAKER_07]: I did that too.
- 1:39:21[SPEAKER_07]: It's ours.
- 1:39:22[SPEAKER_07]: It's mine too.
- 1:39:22[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a partner in this.
- 1:39:24[SPEAKER_07]: You're a partner.
- 1:39:24[SPEAKER_07]: You're a cast member.
- 1:39:26[SPEAKER_07]: You're saying, for sure.
- 1:39:26[SPEAKER_07]: At the time, that's fine.
- 1:39:28[SPEAKER_07]: And I think you should understand that.
- 1:39:29[SPEAKER_07]: Well, now, not sure stuff.
- 1:39:30[SPEAKER_07]: It means I'm not a partner in his content.
- 1:39:33[SPEAKER_07]: I'm in the cast member in his content.
- 1:39:35[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:39:36[SPEAKER_07]: Same thing with Ken.
- 1:39:36[SPEAKER_07]: Same thing with Cornell.
- 1:39:37[SPEAKER_07]: We don't own it out.
- 1:39:39[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 1:39:39[SPEAKER_07]: And let's be going in and together.
- 1:39:40[SPEAKER_07]: We're writing it together.
- 1:39:42[SPEAKER_07]: We're creating the idea together.
- 1:39:44[SPEAKER_07]: Then this is where partners in that.
- 1:39:45[SPEAKER_07]: But like play a position.
- 1:39:47[SPEAKER_07]: I'll play mine.
- 1:39:48[SPEAKER_07]: I'm a writer today.
- 1:39:49[SPEAKER_07]: I'm an actor tomorrow.
- 1:39:50[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm an editor in this one.
- 1:39:52[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not your partner.
- 1:39:53[SPEAKER_07]: I work with you in the sense that, you know, you come hiring me to do it, or you come asking to be in it.
- 1:39:58[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, you know, yeah.
- 1:39:59[SPEAKER_06]: But I think everybody had to grow.
- 1:40:00[SPEAKER_06]: Like we're all learning.
- 1:40:01[SPEAKER_06]: This is a new thing for everybody, right?
- 1:40:03[SPEAKER_06]: So, but now, if someone comes, let's say, K is like, y'all, I want to be in one of your skits, or I want to be in one of your sketches.
- 1:40:12[SPEAKER_06]: Do you have a different conversation or is it still like, argh, man?
- 1:40:15[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, yeah, all right, come on.
- 1:40:16[SPEAKER_07]: Because no one, if you want to get paid, you got to talk about that early.
- 1:40:19[SPEAKER_07]: And most likely, I'm my paying nobody just to be in my sketch.
- 1:40:22[SPEAKER_06]: It's journey of releases that you have.
- 1:40:24[SPEAKER_07]: So I now move forward with the shows, yes.
- 1:40:28[SPEAKER_07]: The sketch is, this social media is not really.
- 1:40:30[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, that might be something I would do eventually.
- 1:40:32[SPEAKER_07]: But I've had to do that yet.
- 1:40:34[SPEAKER_07]: And for someone to ask me, people ask me every single day, I probably love to ask you this collab.
- 1:40:38[SPEAKER_07]: And they'd be in the sketch.
- 1:40:40[SPEAKER_07]: You can't lead with that in the ask for money.
- 1:40:42[SPEAKER_07]: That's great.
- 1:40:44[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I'm about to pay the be in my sketch.
- 1:40:45[SPEAKER_07]: I've got people asking to be in the market for free because it's there there's and that's not just not even cocky That's not even why I need the money.
- 1:40:52[SPEAKER_07]: Well, shit if I'm a pay-actor, I'm a pay-to-people already been working with yeah for sure Well, I'm a so you were Brandon person How we doing this for a long time and don't end with no bread super broke the home.
