- Cory Barnes: Hello and happy September 10th. It's Pastor Jenny here, and we are in the end. Almost to the end of Revelation. But also living in the end times, as you know. But we are in chapter 15 today. 22 chapters of Revelation. We are almost to the end. Can you feel it of the book of Revelation? So chapter 15, it is a mere eight verses, the shortest book in or chapter rather in the book of Revelation and it says this, the prelude to the bull judgments. As we've been reading through the book of Revelation, we've been reading about trumpets and seals and you know, s or scrolls rather, and those have been pictures of partial judgments. But as we read the prelude today to these bowl judgments, this is kinda this is the get ready to rumble. This is the getting ready for the grand finale. These are gonna be the final judgments. And so we're getting ready, as I said, to rumble, really. It's the introduction of seven angels. So I'm gonna read for us really the first three verses. Of chapter fifteen says this Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete. Thus the reason we know it's the final judgment. And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image, and over his mark. And over the number of his name standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God Almighty, just and true are your ways, O King of the saints. Keep going to verse four Who shall not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before you, for your judgments have been manifested. And so we see here where it's this beautiful introduction of these angels that are coming to prepare to pour out these s seven bowls of the final judgments which are gonna take place in tomorrow's reading in chapter sixteen. And so We'll get more about that tomorrow. But wanna encourage you, keep reading, keep going, don't give up on the book of Revelation, because as we've said over and over again, Revelation is a part of God's story. It is the revelation, it is the revealing of Jesus, it's the completion. we take all of God's word from beginning to end, from Genesis to Revelation, it's the full story of God. We don't want to miss a single picture of what God has for us in His Word. We don't want to just a partial bit of the movie. We don't want a piece of the story. We want the full story. And that means having seen it all, having read it all. And so I get you may not fully understand everything you're reading. many who have studied Revelation for years still don't fully understand it. But Day by day, layer by layer, God leads us into his truth, into understanding. So keep leaning in, keep leaning in with us, and be encouraged that God will continue to lead and guide you into all truth. But hey, if you haven't already, it's also a good time to be leaning into a proverb of the day. Something that Pastor Brandon and I often do is we pair whatever the daily reading is. with a proverb of the day, meaning whatever day of the month we're on, we're gonna read that proverb. So today is September 10th. That means we would read Proverbs chapter 10. And that's just another way to get God's word in our hearts, in our minds to meditate and continue to allow that to stir in us. So a further encouragement, just an extra credit if you will, extra nugget of gold for you. Proverbs chapter ten, verse seventeen says this he who keeps instruction is in the way of life, but he who refuses correction goes astray. Man, that's such an encouragement for me today. It reminds me to personally be encouraged and reminded that instruction it brings life. not just the instruction itself, but keeping that instruction, starting with God's instruction. But that's the instruction of those in authority over me, because we know that authority is from God as well. But he who refuses correction goes astray. When we refuse to be corrected, and we don't allow correction That means we're not walking in humility, then we begin to go off the path. we begin to go astray. That causes challenges, that causes hardship. And so I'm reminded today that I would stay the course, that I would be aligned with the words of God, with God's instruction. That I would be aligned when correction comes, that I wouldn't refuse that, but that I would be soft and tenderhearted towards that, so that my heart, my mind would not go astray. because there is life when I'm yielded and submitted to those over me, and when I'm yielded and submitted to the Lord who is first and foremost over me, and that includes his word. But when I also submit myself under those, he's put an authority over me. Because that in that there is life. So that's my encouragement from Proverbs chapter 10, verse 17 today. but we will continue in our amazing reading of Revelation tomorrow as well. Before we go, let me pray for you today. Lord, we thank you for your word. Thank you, God, that it is useful for teaching, for correction. for training us up, Lord. Thank you, God, for revealing your heart to us, for helping us to grow in our understanding and in our wisdom. Lord, thank you for your compassion that you have poured out on all of mankind, including us. Lord, as we begin to understand more and more of your love, your great love for us, would we pour that compassion and love out onto others? Lord, just as you said, Jesus. It is your heart and your desire that we would love one another as you have loved us. Would you help us to do that today? Holy Spirit, I pray that we would have eyes to see others in our path today, to love as you have loved us. Lord, help us to keep your instruction. We thank you that there is life in your words, and that you are the way, the truth, and the life. Speak blessing over those who under the sound of my voice today, would you keep their path straight? And it's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
