Speaker A: Thanks for tuning in to the undercuts review of the 2026 British Grand Prix. Please rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and enjoy the show. By being a racing driver, you are under risk all the time. By being a racing driver means you are racing with other people. And if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver. All right, Nick. Well, it's just you and me this week and we had one of the fan favorite races on the calendar, one of my favorites and I'm sure one of yours as well, the 2026 British Grand Prix. And Kimmy didn't end up winning this one. It was Charles Rejuvenation. He really needed this one and I mean he got it done.
• 0:58
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I mean first and foremost, I think with all of the Grand Prix seemingly changing their name every year, it's good to get back to the good old British Grand Prix. Yeah, it's always been the British and it's still the British. It's not the Midlands Grand Prix or the Silverstone Grand Prix or it's the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the home of Formula one. Really. I mean it was the, the first, you know, the first race was there many, many years ago. So. And it's always produced good racing. I mean even in the worst of the can't overtake eras, Silverstone was typically one where you do get some overtaking. So it was going to be interesting how this current rule set the problems with clipping. Running out of juice harvesting at the end of straits. Running out of energy was going to impact it. And so we got a lot of, a lot of passes that were then just repass like you know, Lewis and. Who is he racing with on that? George, I think Lewis and George and
• 2:17
Speaker A: Lewis and Max and Lewis and Max
• 2:19
Speaker B: where you know, coming out of. Well, basically going across what used to be the start finish line before they reconfigured the circuit and going into cops. You get quite a few passes there and then you get through maggots and Becketts which is the, you know, left, right, left, right section coming down the hill then onto the straight and they just run out of power halfway down, which is so frustrating to watch. It really was the worst example of what we've been seeing. I thought Australia was pretty bad, but this for me was kind of worse because you could. It was overtakes on Hangar Straight were just drive by us in a way that, you know, people were more helpless than they were in drs.
• 3:14
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 3:14
Speaker B: So it Was kind of frustrating at that. But I think the, the overall, I don't say storylines of it all were, were as interesting as any race that we've seen so far with, you know, if we start with, with Charles, like you said, rejuvenation. He, I think even going into the weekend he was saying good things are to come, but just not really this weekend. Yeah, well, it was this weekend and he found something seemingly on Friday that really gave him a lot more confidence in the car and that enabled him, I think it might even have been on Saturday after the sprint because he didn't really feature too well in the Sprint from what I remember. It's a bit of a blur this weekend.
• 4:06
Speaker A: Lewis either did very well on the Sprint, if I remember correctly, but yeah,
• 4:10
Speaker B: but he found something and that by the time the safety car came out at the end, he built up about 20 seconds on Lewis bust 40 something laps. I mean that's, yeah, you know, that's four to, you know, four to five, 10 a lap, which is some serious going.
• 4:33
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Lewis got second in the sprint, so I guess he did all right.
• 4:37
  Speaker B: But yeah,
• 4:40
Speaker A: but I mean it's seemingly now the, the, the picture has changed pretty drastically. Right. I mean just a few race weekends ago, I guess before Lewis won, right. We had just come off of five Kimmy races in a row and the first six races of the season were all Mercedes and now it's like it seems like maybe Mercedes engines have issues or the cars have issues. I guess the issue with Kimmy this race weekend wasn't an engine issue, it was the car falling apart. But they seem to be having reliability issues where Ferrari does not and they're picking up the pieces and now it's a tight fight for the championship.
• 5:23
Speaker B: Yeah, I mean it definitely feels like some of the, there's definitely track characteristics that favor, you know, certain engines, but certain, I say power units one relative to another. You, you look at Ferrari in Austria where it's high altitude there they had, they struggled with power, right. Then you come here which is a little more conventional. They seem to be going pretty well. So they also had the benefit of the engine development upgrades that they could bring as a result of this in season. Additional development and upgrade opportunities they call it, which I guess Ferrari kind of knew that they were going to get something because as soon as it was announced that they could do it, they had it available to them. They already figured out what they needed to do. Whereas it seems that Mercedes had maybe not realized that they were going to get any Opportunity, so hadn't really done the work to the organic part of the engine, internal combustion part that Ferrari had done. So they're playing a bit of catch up now, which is obviously part of the reason, I think, why Ferrari are a lot closer now. Once Mercedes get to implement their engine upgrades, I do foresee they will pull ahead just a little bit more as well.
• 7:04
Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I guess we will see. Although it was odd seeing Kimmy's front wing just kind of fall apart and you kind of forget that he was looking pretty. Looking like he had a shot at at least of catching down Charles before that.
• 7:21
Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, I think. Yeah, I think it's. It would have been very realistic for him to catch Charles for the win just by virtue of the way the race was going, the tire offset that he had, the. The rate at which he was gaining,
• 7:36
Speaker A: you know, I mean, it was a long. He. He stayed out a really long time compared to the other guys. It was like an extra 15 laps.
• 7:44
Speaker B: 15 or so laps? Yeah. I mean, I think it was like 14 or 15. Yeah, it was, you know, a big tire offset.
• 7:54
Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, he was complaining about or worrying about being undercut on the radio.
• 8:01
Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, it was. When you go long like that, it's like, well, you. You better to go long another 10 to 15 laps than another five laps. Because if you go another five laps, then you're not going to have enough tire offset and you're going to be stuck. You will get undercut.
• 8:25
Speaker A: Yeah, but I mean, ultimately, obviously, he dropped out of the points with the safety car that ended the race, unfortunately, the really weird safety car saying it's ending and then being redeployed. So we don't get that final lap showdown. And obviously Kimmy had gotten the penalty because his car broke and he couldn't stay on track and got the. Whatever it was, the. The drop. So with the safety car, he just tumbled all the way down. But that was really odd. The redeployment. I haven't seen any explanation for it. I don't know if you have.
• 8:59
Speaker B: Yeah, well, I mean, if we just quickly cover the engine, you know, cover Kimmy's actual problem. It was the. It looked like. Was it the brake duct or it was like an internal part of the wheel which broke.
• 9:14
Speaker A: Yeah, you could see it when he hit the curb. It, like, dropped down.
• 9:18
Speaker B: Yeah. So from the angle of the camera, the onboard camera, you could see it pop up.
• 9:24
  Speaker A: Right.
• 9:25
Speaker B: But from where Kimmy was sitting, he couldn't see that. They sit so low Right. That when they, you know, they can't figure it out. So he had the problem, went round again, he was running wide, so he was getting hit with. He couldn't turn left basically.
• 9:39
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 9:40
Speaker B: See, so he, you know, exceeded track limits several times. They went round, he came into the pits, they took a look at it, changed the tires, seemingly didn't notice that this thing was like way out of shape, which is a little bit odd considering he came in for them to check things and they sent him back out and then it seems that they realized what it was. So it was a bit of an error on the part of the team because they sent him out again. He continued to go off as he was figuring out how to drive this thing and keep it on the track. Came back in, they did fix it and at that point he came out ahead of the Alpines, ahead of Colapinto I think was the leading Alpine, wasn't he? And immediately started pulling away from him and was sitting in eighth or ninth.
• 10:38
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 10:39
Speaker B: So once they'd figured out what it was and they fixed it, then he was back up to similar sort of pace. But because he'd run off the track they hit him with a five second time penalty. But it's like the whole purpose of the track limits thing is so that you aren't gaining an advantage from cutting corners.
• 11:04
  Speaker A: Right.
• 11:04
Speaker B: Or running wide to get to carry more speed off the corner than you should, which he's clearly not doing that. He's running wide because he's trying to figure out and drive around a problem while they diagnosed it and fixed it. So I mean, Mercedes didn't appeal it. But it's definitely something that from a rules perspective they really should kind of look at properly and figure out what the spirit of that reg is for.
• 11:33
Speaker A: Why wouldn't they appeal it? I mean, if the Alpine one from Monaco can get overturned, why not? Why not this one?
• 11:42
Speaker B: Yeah, I mean it's a case of what grounds is there? You need to present the stewards with things. New evidence. What new evidence really is there than what they had based their original decision on? I think in the case of the Monaco decision and with Pierre, it's that they measured the pit lane and they measured the distance between the loops which calculated the speed over distance equals time kind of thing, or the other part of that speed equals distance over time. And that was something that the stewards hadn't factored in. They just looked at the reading when they gave him the judgment. So that's why it's that. But to be fair To Kimmy, at one point he was, like, really disheartened. And then he was like, what am I gonna do? But then as soon as he realized he could drive with it, he was like, no, I'm gonna stay out here. I wanna get these points. And of course, once the penalty was announced, it was clear that he was gonna go backwards, which. The rate he was clearing Colapinto or pulling away, you kind of. It looked like at that point, maybe even with the five seconds, he'd still get a point or two. That, of course, changed with the safety car because, you know, before we get into even the whole safety car fiasco, Verstappen, I mean, had had. Well, his car had thrown him into the gravel for the second consecutive race, which. You could hear the frustration in his voice, couldn't you?
• 13:15
  Speaker A: You sure could.
• 13:17
Speaker B: Yeah. He does not seem happy.
• 13:19
Speaker A: I mean, he has just like, fuck this. Fuck this car. I am done with this shit.
• 13:26
Speaker B: Yes. Yeah, pretty much. I mean, it's. He's clearly not happy. He has the contract break clause, which gets triggered, I think, next month. He can decide what he wants to do. He doesn't need to say anything until October, but he's, you know, he's basically got a decision to make at this point. Is he going to stay with Red Bull or is he going to move?
• 13:52
  Speaker A: Now?
• 13:52
Speaker B: His management team clearly will be doing the rounds. They'll be calling Toto. They'll be calling Zach. They'll maybe not be calling Mr. Stroll or whoever runs the team for him now.
• 14:09
  Speaker A: I think so.
• 14:11
Speaker B: Because that's clearly going to be a step back. And where else is he really going to go? It's Mercedes or maybe McLaren or he stays put, but I don't know.
• 14:25
Speaker A: Or he leaves the sport.
• 14:27
Speaker B: He could take a break. He could do. He calls his own shots. Basically, he's Max Verstappen.
• 14:32
Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, I can't see any other racing category not letting them come in. You know, every team's gonna want him. So he's got.
• 14:40
Speaker B: Oh, yeah, they've just gotta be able to afford him. But the marketing that he would bring, the. You know, the. Whatever you pay him to drive for you, you will get back.
• 14:54
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 14:55
Speaker B: Just purely from a visibility exposure, you know, perspective.
• 15:02
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 15:03
Speaker B: So, you know, this case, I mean, it looks like the. I think it's all part of that. The rear wing, the Macarena or whatever they call the flippy flicky, rotating rear wing. Visibly it's back in place, but it looks like there's something that happens when it goes back in place where it stores the airflow, meaning that it takes a fraction of a second longer for the airflow to basically reattach itself to the wing and provide the downforce again. And while it looks like it's back and it should be fine, there's no rear downforce at that particular point. And I think I was thinking about it this morning on my way to work that because I was listening to a podcast as well. I think it was the BBC one. And as they were explaining, I was thinking back to when Alex Albon described the struggles that he had at Red Bull. Because Max really liked a very pointy car with a lot of front end and then he can just figure out how to getting a steer around it. But if you do that and your car is set up for that, if you lose rear end downforce, it is going to spit you off, you are going to spin. Which is why maybe he's seen it this last couple of weeks, but hadn't because Hajar setup might be a little bit less front biased. That's just my speculation as ill informed or like theoretical. I'm not, you know, an engineer, but these kind of things all in my mind sort of coalesce around the fact that Max likes a car a certain way and they've got some sort of fundamental air reattachment problem with their rear wing.
• 17:02
Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, like you said, I'm no engineer too, so sounds good to me. But it's apparently clear, I mean it's abundantly clear that he is miserable where he is at the moment. I just, I don't see it likely that he would want to stay there. And it's odd that, you know, we were back at the British Grand Prix and Christian Horner was on the grid. I don't know if you saw that.
• 17:26
Speaker B: I didn't see any of the buildup. It was Obviously it was 4th of July weekend and so there was a lot going on this weekend. I didn't see any of the buildup, I didn't see any of the post race. All I really saw was the race and I watched part of that on Sunday night, which was obviously difficult because of the England Mexico match and then you know, yesterday as well. So didn't really see a whole lot of that. I did see. I don't know who Horner was a guest of, but I have seen rumors that officially Lawrence Stroll has been trying to talk him into some sort of role within Aston Martin.
• 18:15
Speaker A: Isn't that the whole reason Adrian knew he left?
• 18:18
Speaker B: Yes, which is why I think it's kind of weird and I take it with a pinch of salt.
• 18:27
Speaker A: I mean, I just feel like Alpine trying to get in on that ownership deal or whatever seems like the best fit for him. But whatever, he's. He is who he is, so we'll see. That'll be interesting.
• 18:39
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. But then obviously all of that led to the safety car. Right, Right where they're going around. When I saw it was like four lap to the end, maybe five at that point. It's like, I don't think there's enough time. Obviously the British Grand Prix, Silverstone, the Steward, sorry, the Marshalls there are as good as any marshals you're going to get anywhere in the world. Of course, there is racing at that circuit every weekend.
• 19:09
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 19:10
Speaker B: So the Marshalls are very experienced. They can get stuff moved quicker than probably any other circuit. Umbrellas on the calendar. Yeah, umbrellas. Which is the most British safety car I think we've ever had. But even then I thought, I don't know, I don't think, I don't think we're going to get started. Restarted again. So I was kind of surprised that they brought Lewis in, to be honest. Thinking that, you know, obviously echoes ghosts of 2021. Lewis didn't want to be caught short by someone behind on older tires. But, you know, I thought it was 50, 50 that we'd get racing again. And they're basically throwing away second position now. Had there been one racing lap afterwards, then George would have been a sitting duck in the same way that Lewis was in 2021. So it all then comes down to were they going to be able to get the stricken Red Bull cleared away in time and then be able to do the full procedure for restarting the race after the safety car. The rules are that once you've initiated the unlapped cars, well, the lapped cars to unlap themselves, you then after that need to have one clear, complete lap at the end of which the safety car will come in. So if you, if you're on lap 50, let's say. No, say lap 49 of a 52 lap race. I think it was 50. Was it 52 laps anyway?
• 21:07
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, I think so. 51 or 52, something like that.
• 21:10
Speaker B: Yeah. So you need to be initiating the. The lap cars to unlap themselves on, say lap 49, then you have to have lap 50 before the safety car can go in.
• 21:30
  Speaker A: Right.
• 21:30
Speaker B: From what I understand and I've heard is that the safety, they gave the instruction for the cars to unlap themselves. About a second and a half after Charles had crossed the start finish line on lap for 50, 50, I guess. And maybe it's a sort of a. They blamed a software glitch. So maybe there's an assumption built into the system because I don't think it's not like that people initiate stuff. There's like timers and stuff that go in which assume a certain amount of time for them to complete the lap behind the safety car. And that had had maybe not factored in the true pace of the safety car. And it assumed that everyone would begin, would get around or something like that.
• 22:33
Speaker A: Right. Well, Bert Mylander is going really slow. Right. Like particularly slow for the safety car.
• 22:40
Speaker B: Yeah, it did seem that way. And so when it kind of came up as a safety car coming in, I was like, oh, okay, cool, we will get one lap. But then as they were coming round Stowe and the commentators were talking about it's going to have a one lap shootout and all that sort of stuff. I saw the safety car lights are still on. And so it went straight past the, the pit entry. And then everyone's what's going on? It's like, well, the lights were still on on the safety car. So the drivers clearly knew it wasn't coming in.
• 23:18
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 23:19
Speaker B: And Bert Mylander clearly knew he wasn't coming in. But it just felt that everything was based on this reporting on the screen that the safety car was in this lad. So what isn't clear to me because I can't. I don't know if they've changed the rules after 2021, but I don't think they actually have to. The race director has to tell unlapped, tell lap cars to unlap themselves. That's just something that they like to do to clear the way for the battles that are taking place. But they're not obliged to do it. The thing with 2021 is that Michael Massey, as well as not having that additional lap after they released the lapped cars, he also only cleared the lap cars between Lewis and Max, which kind of fell foul of those rules as well. So long story short, I don't know that they even needed to release the lapped cars. They could have just said is coming in next lap and away you go. We're going to have a race for a lap or two. But you got to get past the back markers or I don't even understand why they need the lap cars to unlap themselves because they've been lapped. Just tell them to fall to the back of the field.
• 24:44
Speaker A: Yeah. Martin Bruno was saying that for years.
• 24:47
Speaker B: Yeah, I saw that. I read that somewhere and I couldn't figure out, but I thought that's a. That totally makes sense. Although I did see that Carlos Science got a one lap penalty at the end of the race. Did you see that?
• 25:00
  Speaker A: No.
• 25:01
Speaker B: What does that even mean? Well, he unlapped himself and he hadn't in fact been lapped.
• 25:09
  Speaker A: Huh.
• 25:12
  Speaker B: So unlap yourselves.
• 25:14
  Speaker A: And.
• 25:14
Speaker B: And he just went by everyone and went lap and they go. You should have stayed where you were.
• 25:20
Speaker A: He was being a little tricky. So passed everybody.
• 25:25
Speaker B: Yeah. If that's the case, then did he win the race? That's not idea. So anyway, but. So there was so much weirdness going on at the end of that race. But, you know, I'm all right with. To be honest, I'm okay with things ending behind the safety car. I don't always understand. Yeah, it's great to have a race across the line when you've got Charlotte, Claire. He was 20 seconds ahead or however many seconds ahead he was. Well given. Obviously Kimmy had fallen away at that point. In all races, once you get to like two laps from the end, it's not that often that there's much to race for by then. So to just create racing at the end of the race for the sake of creating racing is a bit fabricated in my mind. So I'm actually quite okay with it ending under the safety car because the race has essentially happened 90 plus percent right in terms of how it's going to be. The outcome of the race probably wouldn't change in that period. Now I know there are people talking about should they have red flagged the race? Well, there needs to maybe be a situation where I say, okay, if we're on the safety car and it's five laps from the end, maybe you all come and park in the pit lane while they figure it out. And then you go and you have a restart and you go and then you have like five laps of racing or four laps of racing because you'd have to do a formation lap to get heat in the tires or something like that. I think there was a bit of reluctance on a red flag because if you had to have a red flag, then There's a whole 20 minute process to restart the race, which is a bit daft. They should be able to put a mechanism in place where it's like, all right, you just come and park it for five minutes while they sort it out and then you just go,
• 27:17
Speaker A: yeah, but will that happen? I Mean, probably not anytime soon, but it would be great. It would be great. But obviously, like we said, Max did not finish the race after crashing out, whatever, however many laps, five or so laps before the end. But Hajar was able to beat Max again because Max crashed out or however you want to say it. So, I mean, we're. We've talked about this a couple weeks now, but, I mean, Hajar is the best second driver at Red Bull we've seen since back when Danny was good. Right. So, yeah.
• 27:54
Speaker B: And Hajar has out qualified Max, like, at least once in this last couple of races.
• 27:59
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 28:00
Speaker B: When did we last see that? I mean, he's. He's doing a. He's doing a good job. I think the second. I mean, he's not setting the world alight, and he's still a lot of times a little bit slower than Max, but he's kind of put that whole second driver story away. I don't think people are really talking about that as much anymore. Obviously, if Max does go somewhere else, then it's like, well, he's going to. Is he going to be the main guy? Are they going to bring someone else in? I did see unsubstantiated rumors in the Twitter sphere of Oscar Piastri being annoyed at McLaren. I just saw that on some. You know, you just get junk showing up on your. On the, on your feeds and things. No, real. I don't have a whole lot of faith in some of the sources of some of those. It's clickbait a lot of the time. But it would be interesting if, you know, if Piastri was annoyed, if he would go in the opposite direction of Max going across to McLaren.
• 29:03
Speaker A: You know, they've shown interest in him.
• 29:06
Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, everyone shouldn't be interested in him. Right. So, you know, there are. There are a few guys who, if you are going to lose a lead driver, that you'd want to go after. So. And I think Oscar, based on what he did last year, was pretty good, because, to be fair, he's actually been pretty anonymous this last few races. I don't quite know what's going on, but, I mean, after last year, it's like, he must be a little disappointed.
• 29:35
Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, you say. You say Oscar has been anonymous. I mean, it feels that, as a McLaren fan, it feels that way from the team. I mean, they're not really shown on the race weekend other than, like, we saw a lot of Lando before the race. You didn't see much of it, but, I mean, obviously they had this huge Lando stand.
• 29:57
Speaker B: Was it like 16,000 people or something? Yeah.
• 30:00
Speaker A: All wearing the like highlighter yellow color.
• 30:04
Speaker B: Yeah, it did look very cool on TV. Yeah, but it was different. It was weird because McLaren had that, that Bruce McLaren livery. So even during the race you didn't even know it was them because obviously it's got a striking livery. The color of your hat.
• 30:20
  Speaker A: Right.
• 30:22
Speaker B: That you're used to seeing. So when it's not there, it doesn't feel. You don't really know if you're seeing that or a racing ball or a Williams. Yeah, it was just a little bit. I mean, I get why they do some of these special liveries, but you've got to kind of make it recognizable as being your car.
• 30:44
Speaker A: Yeah, it was like James Hunt's first F1 car. Just flat white. That was pretty much it. But yeah, so some other guys that, I mean, we didn't see much of them. We talked about the racing bulls. Obviously this is like the third race weekend in a row, at least two that they've both been in the points. But I think it's three races in a row where they've had both cars in the points. They're the best. You can't, you can't argue it now. I mean, Alpine was great too. They were able to have both of their cars in the points as well.
• 31:16
Speaker B: But yeah, I mean, they are consistently scor points, I think. I think Alpine is still a couple of points ahead of racing bulls in the championship because they're scoring points too. I mean, they won't always score points, but the way that the reliability has been lately is giving Alpine and racing balls in particular opportunities to score points where maybe they wouldn't otherwise.
• 31:47
  Speaker A: It's a one point difference.
• 31:50
Speaker B: Ah, there we go. But, you know, it's still strange to see the reliability problems coming in that we haven't seen in F1 for quite a while. It does add an element of jeopardy to it and it makes it a bit more interesting because, you know, you go back a year or two and it was like, well, he's got such and such a lead now it's kind of over. Because there's this implicit kind of view that cars are bulletproof. You're not going to get failures. It'll take a driver error or something like that to, to. To lose big chunks of points. But here we're having cases where, you know, George's engine cuts out in Canada and Kimmy has what seemingly is, you know, he's had quite a few in the last sort of two or three races. Problems that have put him back in the order. I don't remember what his points lead was at a maximum like 60 something, 68 maybe. Maybe his points lead now is, I think 25. So that's one, one clean race. So he's lost 40 something points of a lead over the last sort of three races, which is concerning. I still don't think it's a problem because, you know, runs of good luck, runs of bad luck, they're runs and he can always bring it back. And he's still got a 25 point lead but man, that lead did shrink quickly. He's not, he's not. And he's always been on it. He's relentless. He's showing up every weekend.

Speaker A: Yeah. And he's doing it with a smile. You gotta love the kid.
• 33:45
Speaker B: Yeah, I like him. You know, he's refreshing because he's so young and, you know, I don't want to say innocent, but he's got a youthful sort of excitement about him. He's thrilled to be there and he's comfortable being there.
• 34:02
Speaker A: Yeah, he's the anti Max.
• 34:05
Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, obviously he's got a lot in common with Max because Max was very young when he came in, but he's definitely gone about it in a much more jovial, cordial, just a more fun way of doing it. Whereas Max came in and he was straight in there, like super aggressive, elbows out, win it or bin it type.
• 34:25
Speaker A: Getting fights with Archon in the garage.
• 34:29
Speaker B: Yeah, Yeah, I, I don't know. I kind of like new Max, but
• 34:34
Speaker A: I do, I like new Max too.
• 34:37
Speaker B: Yeah. But Kimmy, Yeah, he seems a good kid.
• 34:41
Speaker A: Yeah. All right, well, let's see. I mean, we, we've spoken about most of the winners, so to speak. I mean, obviously Gabby in the points, so good on him, but really kind of anonymous from everyone behind, really the top six or so Williams. Another awful weekend. I feel like that's the biggest disappointment. I mean, Even as a McLaren fan, I mean, Williams, we, I feel like we had such high expectations from them and James Voles and how all of last year they were hyping up this season and it's just, they're, they're a total mess.
• 35:24
Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, it's going to be interesting with Carlos and Alex because Carlos in particular, he went across there on the promise of what 26 would bring and they've clearly let him down. They've not held up their end of the bargain. And so if there's a driver market with Max moving and Things start moving around. Could Carlos be on the move to somewhere and if so, where? I don't know.
• 35:57
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 35:59
Speaker B: But yeah, he's clearly going to be very disappointed. He went there on good faith.
• 36:05
Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, Albon kind of. I mean, well, I guess Albon was in a different situation. He was kicked out of Red Bull and had nowhere to go. But I mean, he did resign there at a time when his stock was pretty high with the expectation, I feel like that, you know, they were also going to turn around. So disappointing. Well, I guess after all that, I need to pull coops up. Let's see here.
• 36:34
Speaker B: And did I score any points because I didn't put my picks in.
• 36:39
Speaker A: I mean, there must have been some crossover right from last race because you did set it up last race and it just moves over. Let's see here. All righty. So obviously with some of the top guys not ending up in the top 10, the scores were a little deflated, but we still had a. The top score. Ombre Verde scoring 2, 2, 228 points. McNags at 205 for the second highest score. And then H. Nakasan scoring 195 with the third highest score. So like I said, deflated scores. And that brings. Let's see who's the top of coops because I think there was some movement. So the top score still is B. Vitero. But the second spot, Matt D. Moved up into the second spot, moving up three spots. And Toto's under. Vasha moved down one spot, but still in the top three. Let's see. Okay. I moved up six, so I'm in the top 10 now at number eight. So I'll take that. Martin moved up four spots to hit 36. All right. All right, Nick. Well, you only moved down two spots.
• 38:06
  Speaker B: All right. Okay.
• 38:08
Speaker A: And 81st. You know, there's still plenty of time to go and I mean, all to play for because the scores have been so wacky this year. I like you're in 81st, but you're only 200 points away. And that can. That can change within a race weekend. I mean, maybe not all of it, but you can get a big chunk of that out in one race weekend.
• 38:31
Speaker B: That's right. Just like we were saying with Kimmy.
• 38:33
  Speaker A: Right.
• 38:34
Speaker B: You know, he's got a race lead points, and if I'm a couple hundred points out, that's a sort of a similar deficit that, you know, you gotta
• 38:45
Speaker A: put the max of last year, but then bring it over the top and then where's next? Spa Right.
• 38:56
Speaker B: Spa next weekend. Not this coming weekend, the week after.
• 38:59
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then we won't have spa next year, so we should enjoy it while we have it.
• 39:06
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. It's moving on the rotation, isn't it? So it's gonna be gone for a year, so enjoy it. Is the summer break after Spa before Hungary or is Hungary coming up before.
• 39:22
Speaker A: Let me check. I do not know. That is a good question. Let's see here. No, Hungary is the next week and then we have a month off and
• 39:35
Speaker B: then we have a summer break. Okay.
• 39:37
Speaker A: To the nether the Dutch Grand Prix
• 39:40
Speaker B: at the end of August.
• 39:42
  Speaker A: Correct. Right.
• 39:44
Speaker B: The last Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort. It's been fun. I wanted to go this year but it was the tickets were over subscribed and I didn't get any. But it would have been cool.
• 39:56
Speaker A: It wasn't on the calendar that long but it's such an awesome looking race and the atmosphere around it with the beach, that would have been a fun one.
• 40:03
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I would have really liked to have gone, but yeah, no dice on that.
• 40:09
Speaker A: It might be back at some point in the future. Thanks for listening to the Undercuts review of the 2026 British Grand Prix. Please rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and join us next time for all our review of the 2026 Belgium Grand Prix at Spa. We'll see you.
