- 0:07Hello, friends, and welcome back to the Woman at the Well Ministries podcast.
- 0:10With Kimberly Miller, where we believe that every man, woman,
- 0:14boy, and girl must come to Jesus just like the woman at the well in John chapter 4.
- 0:20Our highest priority is helping you experience the reality of God in your everyday life.
- 0:26Whether you're listening in our app, on your favorite podcast platform,
- 0:30are on our website at watwm.org.
- 0:34We invite you to sit down with us as we open the scriptures to learn more about
- 0:39who God is and to strengthen your daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- 1:03Sometimes we think we're just spinning our wheels. Perhaps it looks as if what
- 1:07we are doing has no meaning.
- 1:09But God has us in a place for a purpose. We are to serve Him with all we do and all we have.
- 1:16That seemingly menial task is really an important work for God.
- 1:20Because all we do is a reflection of our love for Him, so we must do it willingly and heartily.
- 1:26Join us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries, as Kim teaches us
- 1:31to love God with our work.
- 1:33Following Kim's message, the staff of Woman at the Well Ministries will discuss
- 1:37the importance of doing all we do for the glory of God.
- 1:41Hello, and thank you for joining us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
- 1:45And I believe that one of our most innate human natures is to compare what we
- 1:51do with what other people do.
- 1:53And let me just tell you from the get-go, that's a dangerous game to play and the wrong way to go.
- 2:00We need to look vertically for our approval.
- 2:04We need to look vertically for our affirmation. And we need to look vertically for our guidance.
- 2:11And by that, I mean we need to be looking unto God, the author and finisher of our faith.
- 2:16We need to be calling upon Him for direction. And we need to place our trust
- 2:21in Him, a God that cannot fail.
- 2:23And so when we begin to look at what we do in that kind of light,
- 2:27what we really need to see is that everything we do is for the love of God.
- 2:34It's interesting to me how we will plan things in our life and we even will get direction from God.
- 2:39And we know that in the future we'll be doing this or we'll be doing that.
- 2:43And we see him looking at us and working in us and guiding us and moving us towards an end goal.
- 2:50But when we look at our very moment step, we're thinking about the future and not about where we are.
- 2:59And I know in my own life, that's very easy for me to do because I so with every
- 3:05fiber of my body and all the desires of my heart want to work in full time service for the Lord.
- 3:12But that isn't his will right now. And that's not where he's using me at this moment.
- 3:17But I often think about what I would do if that's how it was.
- 3:21And I often think about how it's going to be when he answers that prayer and when it all comes to be.
- 3:28And then at the same token i'll think when i go to my job wow this is just so meaningless.
- 3:36And when i do that i forget that everything
- 3:39i do in the job i have right now i
- 3:42need to do for the love of god because i'm loving him and trusting him and i
- 3:48need to do it unto him because the people in my workplace they know that i'm
- 3:53a child of the most high god the people in my workplace know that I'm not the
- 3:58same person as somebody who doesn't have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them.
- 4:02And the people in my workplace, they know that I have a relationship with God. They don't have one.
- 4:09And so when they see my work, it's a reflection of my relationship with him.
- 4:15And when I look at it in that kind of light, it's all so much easier to get up and go to work.
- 4:20And I can do it with joy in my heart and a peace that passeth all understanding
- 4:24because I'm doing it for the love of God.
- 4:27You see, this is the place he has me. This is the work he has for me to do.
- 4:32And who am I to say that doing what I do is not going to lead someone at my
- 4:38workplace or someone who looks at the work I do for my workplace to him.
- 4:43He has the plan. I'm just part of it.
- 4:47But my attitude needs to be that I'm doing it for the love of God.
- 4:52I'm getting up and going to work for the love of God.
- 4:56I'm doing the task he's called me to do for the love of God.
- 5:00Now, my friends, if you have prayed, And you have sought God's will for your life.
- 5:05And you still find yourself in a place you don't want to be.
- 5:08I have these words for you. The Apostle Paul said, be content in what state I've got you in.
- 5:14Be content in the state that the Lord has put you in. And that doesn't mean
- 5:18West Virginia, Alabama, Hawaii, or Alaska.
- 5:21That means in the place that he's put you.
- 5:25In the phase of your life that you're in. In the context of your surroundings.
- 5:31And in the tasks that he's asked you to do and the work he has for you,
- 5:37you need to believe in Jesus Christ and you need to do it all for the love of God.
- 5:44And you say, well, Kim, I work in a secular job. So do I.
- 5:49But I can do it for the love of God. And every day I come in contact with more
- 5:57than one person who doesn't know him as Savior.
- 6:01And it might be easy for me to say, Lord, I can reach so many more people for
- 6:06you with my work on the radio than I can in the two or three or four people
- 6:11that I'm going to meet today.
- 6:12But you know what i'm one-on-one
- 6:16with these people i'm in the same trenches
- 6:19that they are i'm experiencing the very
- 6:22same stress that they are i've got the
- 6:24same objectives as far as work goes
- 6:27as they do and i can handle it
- 6:30through the grace of jesus christ and by
- 6:33and through his love and his mercy and so it's different for me than them and
- 6:38eventually they have to ask me or wonder why it's different and then the doors
- 6:46of opportunity are flung wide open and i can walk through them and say it's because of jesus in me.
- 6:54It's not about me. It's about him. Let's just think for a moment about Jesus' example.
- 7:02He was in the Garden of Gethsemane. And I believe that the scriptures are written
- 7:06that we might know that he fully understood what he was sacrificing when he went to the cross.
- 7:14And in the Garden of Gethsemane, he says, Father, if it be thy will and there's
- 7:19any other way, let this cup pass from me.
- 7:22And it wasn't that he wasn't willing to die
- 7:25for you and me it was that he wasn't going to do that if there was another way
- 7:29and god said son you are the only way and he willingly took that responsibility
- 7:36because of his love for you and his love for me but let me tell you he was fully aware,
- 7:44of what it would cost him that the
- 7:47task he was asked to do would not
- 7:49be easy and that what he was going to have
- 7:52to go through was not what he thought would
- 7:56bring glory perhaps and it wasn't his plan but jesus christ the son of god was
- 8:03willing and he knew and he did it all for the love of god for jesus loved the
- 8:10father and he said i have come to do the will of my father,
- 8:14and in colossians chapter 3 in verse 23 it says and whatsoever ye do do it heartily
- 8:20as to the Lord and not unto men.
- 8:24Let me tell you what, that walk up Golgotha, he was doing it because he loved
- 8:29me and you, but he was doing it because he loved God.
- 8:32And he wanted to bring glory to the Father.
- 8:35And each step he took was because of his love for me and you and his obedience to God the Father.
- 8:41And I submit before you that none of you, and myself included,
- 8:48will ever be asked to do any task as costly as laying down our lives.
- 8:56But my dear friends, we still murmur and complain.
- 9:01And it's because we look at what we do, and we forgot that little is much when God is in it.
- 9:07We look at what we do, and we can't see how God could be glorified. But you know what?
- 9:11We could bring into the attitude to God be the glory for the great things he's done.
- 9:15Lord, this morning when I walk out this door, and I get into my car,
- 9:19and I head to work, let me be a blessing.
- 9:22Lord, teach me today how I can bless others through your grace and your mercy.
- 9:28Lord, teach me today how I can look different than the sinner man.
- 9:32Lord, put on me holiness.
- 9:34Anoint me with your power. Let me have your clothes of righteousness which you
- 9:39placed in my heart be seen to others. Not that I would be holier than thou,
- 9:43but that thou would be lifted up.
- 9:45We have an opportunity, but instead we go to work. We complain worse than the
- 9:50person who doesn't know God. we do less productive work than the person that
- 9:54doesn't know God. We sit in the same places and somebody walking in can't see any difference.
- 10:00We need to do it as if it's under God. And if our job is to make widgets,
- 10:05we need to make the best widgets we can possibly make.
- 10:08If our job is to punch holes all day long every day, we need to punch holes
- 10:14with the glory of God in mind, doing the best job we can being proud for the
- 10:19blessing that god has given us that job,
- 10:22if we are the person who is the
- 10:25greeter at our church we need to do it with such reverence and we need to do
- 10:30it with such power and we need to do it with such joy that we would look just
- 10:34as if we were the one going to bring the message because in god's eyes there's
- 10:39no difference because we are to do our job that he is entrusted to us.
- 10:45To the very best of our ability. And it's not about what we think.
- 10:49And about what we place on it as value. It's about God said do it and we obey.
- 10:54And the Bible says that obedience is better than sacrifice.
- 10:58And if you are the best usher. And you are the best greeter that you can be.
- 11:02And that's the place that God has put you in.
- 11:04And you're doing it to the best of your ability. My friend.
- 11:06You will bring glory to God. And he will use you to show other people who he is.
- 11:12And you've got to do it heartily. with everything you have, believing and trusting
- 11:17in God, because he's the one who calls, and his calls without repentance,
- 11:21and whom he calls, he qualifies, and he has chosen that for you,
- 11:26and there's a work he's going to do through you if you but let him.
- 11:29But it's time that we realize everything we do, we do for the love of God.
