- 0:25Speaker 1: It is time to leave your worries outside and come
- 0:30Speaker 1: laugh with us inside the treehouse on down Malley along
- 0:34Speaker 1: with Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma. You know, yesterday we
- 0:41Speaker 1: started with the origin story of waffles and how it
- 0:46Speaker 1: is believed, according to a professional food scholar, that waffles
- 0:52Speaker 1: are in fact Italian in origin, not Western Europe like
- 0:58Speaker 1: we've all been led to believe by the country of Belgium.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I thought, I thought we debunked that and we figured
- 1:04Speaker 2: out that actually they are just making pancakes.
- 1:08Speaker 1: That's your controversial food opinion, Tray, and I look forward
- 1:12Speaker 1: to the Ted talk in which you and I assumed
- 1:16Speaker 1: doctor Frank Ketty debate the facts Crustuler, Waffler, pancake, What
- 1:29Speaker 1: is it right?
- 1:30Speaker 3: I was gonna say, he did his thesis in batter.
- 1:32Speaker 3: That's what you gotta That's what you have to debate.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Him on that.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that would make for an interesting, uh environment when
- 1:43Speaker 1: it's time to challenge his thesis. Now I want to
- 1:47Speaker 1: look up what his thesis was on. But on the
- 1:50Speaker 1: heels and in the newfound tradition of starting these episodes
- 1:56Speaker 1: with the absolute stupidest thing possible, I am going to
- 2:03Speaker 1: tell you about Suzu the horny dolphin. Are you are you?
- 2:12Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 2:15Speaker 3: Can anyone be?
- 2:18Speaker 5: No?
- 2:19Speaker 1: And that that also goes for Suzu's victims.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I have theme music that goes along with this story.
- 2:30Speaker 1: By the way, this is this is a combination of
- 2:34Speaker 1: news and story time inside the Treehouse. M m hmm.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Here we go. Impossible Love. Suzu the sex pest dolphin
- 2:51Speaker 1: who strikes fear into Japan. The amorous animal who is
- 3:00Speaker 1: probably lonely and has been over exposed to people, has
- 3:04Speaker 1: injured bathers in Fukui, Japan as he tries to force
- 3:10Speaker 1: close encounters.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Force a close encounter? Yes, m hm, he did it on.
- 3:20Speaker 3: He was just trying to fakoy them on Porpoise.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Really the shortest episode in the Treehouse ever h on Porpoise.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Mm hmmm.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I don't know why I'm upset.
- 3:57Speaker 4: I'm not even ashamed of that today.
- 3:59Speaker 3: I'm not either.
- 4:02Speaker 1: If there was a proud meter, you'd be at the
- 4:04Speaker 1: very top of it. I'm gonna start this over. How
- 4:09Speaker 1: about that Impossible Love. This is the story of Suzu,
- 4:17Speaker 1: the sex pest dolphin who strikes fear into Japan. The
- 4:23Speaker 1: amorous animal who's probably lonely and has been overexposed to people,
- 4:27Speaker 1: has injured bathers, and I had to look this up.
- 4:32Speaker 1: It is actually pronounced Fukui Japan, but for our purposes,
- 4:38Speaker 1: since it's spelled f u k u I, I'm now
- 4:41Speaker 1: going to pronounce it as fuck Ui. He surges out
- 4:48Speaker 1: of the ocean without warning, like a smaller, smilier version
- 4:52Speaker 1: of Jaws, without the murderous intent. He arrives to coups
- 4:57Speaker 1: of excitement, but departs amid sobs and screams. He only
- 5:01Speaker 1: wants to be friends, but he leaves blood, bruises and
- 5:04Speaker 1: tears in his wake. He is Suzu, the horny dolphin,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and he is spreading panic across the beaches of central Japan.
- 5:14Speaker 1: In the past two years, dozens of bathers and divers
- 5:18Speaker 1: off beaches in Fakui, Japan, have been bumped, bitten, and
- 5:22Speaker 1: sexually harassed by a bottle nosed dolphin with a distinctive
- 5:25Speaker 1: injury on the tail. Last week alone, there were two
- 5:29Speaker 1: attacks off the tiny island of Mizushima, including a man
- 5:35Speaker 1: whose fingertip was bitten off as he attempted to defend
- 5:38Speaker 1: his grandchildren. Signs have been posted across the prefecture warning
- 5:45Speaker 1: holidaymakers to get out of the water as soon as
- 5:47Speaker 1: they see a dolphin. Jet skis patrol busy beaches on
- 5:51Speaker 1: the lookout for him. I can only hope that David.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I can only hope that David Hasselhoff is one of them,
- 5:59Speaker 1: and what will inevitably be a Baywatch Japan version of
- 6:04Speaker 1: the show. Sonic devices which emit an off putting underwater
- 6:09Speaker 1: peeing are ready to be lowered into the sea at
- 6:12Speaker 1: his approach. Now, after a spate of attacks by bears
- 6:16Speaker 1: driven by food shortages into towns and cities, the Japanese
- 6:20Speaker 1: people now face an unexpected threat from a creature formerly
- 6:24Speaker 1: regarded as a paragon of cuteness and amiability. It's all
- 6:29Speaker 1: the more remarkable because the attacks, at least twenty one
- 6:32Speaker 1: of them in twenty twenty two and nine last year,
- 6:36Speaker 1: eighteen attacks this summer appear to be the work of
- 6:39Speaker 1: a single animal known as Suzu, after the town where
- 6:42Speaker 1: he was first spotted. The dolphin began to make a
- 6:45Speaker 1: nuisance of himself two years ago, prompting debate among experts
- 6:48Speaker 1: over what is driving the behavior and what to do
- 6:51Speaker 1: about it. If you know him better than Yasiyuki Nikasi,
- 6:57Speaker 1: a diving instructor who's had three encounters with Suzu. A
- 7:01Speaker 1: film shot by a fellow diver shows the first of
- 7:04Speaker 1: these encounters, in which the dolphin trails the diver, pushing
- 7:09Speaker 1: him with his nose and occasionally attempting to bite his arm. Now,
- 7:14Speaker 1: the footage clearly shows the other commonly reported feature of
- 7:19Speaker 1: incidents involving Suzu, the sex pest dolphin, his physical state
- 7:24Speaker 1: of arousal, suggesting that the incident was what biologists referred
- 7:29Speaker 1: to as aiding behavior. And Nakasi remembers, he kept pushing
- 7:36Speaker 1: on my bottom. It was very uncomfortable.
- 7:40Speaker 4: So they filmed it three times.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Second, the second, third, I'm guessing are on only fins.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It's a treasure trove.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Dolphins are horny little bastards.
- 7:58Speaker 1: They really are, and this one appears to be the
- 8:00Speaker 1: horniest of them all. Now, dolphins usually swim in groups
- 8:06Speaker 1: known as pods, and one explanation is that Suzu is
- 8:11Speaker 1: simply lonely. His attacks the equivalent of a dog humping
- 8:15Speaker 1: someone's leg. The difference, though, is that mature dolphins typically
- 8:19Speaker 1: weigh three hundred kilograms, swim as fast as twenty miles
- 8:22Speaker 1: per hour, and have a mouthful of sharp teeth. So
- 8:26Speaker 1: how did Suzu acquire his unusual personality. A professor at
- 8:31Speaker 1: Japan's My University thinks that he's been overexposed to humans,
- 8:35Speaker 1: probably well meaning divers who swam with him, and now
- 8:38Speaker 1: seeks them out to play and the only way he knows.
- 8:43Speaker 1: The prominent erection does not necessarily mean that he's attempting
- 8:47Speaker 1: to mate with humans.
- 8:50Speaker 3: But it's a pretty.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Solid sign, and this can be seen when dolphins play
- 8:58Speaker 1: with one another in the wild through playful nipping and biting.
- 9:04Speaker 1: According to a dolphin expert, people touched the dolphin and
- 9:09Speaker 1: hugged it. It gradually got used to them, and now
- 9:12Speaker 1: it approaches people. Look. I think this is a classic
- 9:16Speaker 1: case of victim blaming. The expert goes on to say,
- 9:24Speaker 1: it gradually got used to them, and now it approaches people.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Dolphins nip one another as part of play, but when
- 9:31Speaker 1: they do that to humans it becomes a problem. Nikosi
- 9:36Speaker 1: says that he hesitates about taking out groups of divers
- 9:39Speaker 1: for fear of another visit from Suzu, which would make
- 9:42Speaker 1: four for him. In the end, after the cuts have
- 9:48Speaker 1: been stitched and the crying children soothed, it is easy
- 9:53Speaker 1: to see Suzu the horny dolphin as a tragic creature
- 9:58Speaker 1: instilled with a love for humans that can never be
- 10:01Speaker 1: appropriately expressed or returned. Pretty sure, that's the plot to
- 10:06Speaker 1: the movie The Shape of Water. Uh Nakasi, the diver
- 10:11Speaker 1: who's had four of these encounters with Suzu, says it's
- 10:14Speaker 1: not the dolphin that's doing the wrong he harbors. He
- 10:21Speaker 1: harbors no towards it.
- 10:26Speaker 2: He just made the mistake of wearing the shirts and
- 10:28Speaker 2: twenty dollars.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Twenty dollars, he says. It's the human beings who came
- 10:38Speaker 1: into his world. He's used to men. Perhaps he's been
- 10:42Speaker 1: ostracized by his own kind. It's sad and there's nothing
- 10:46Speaker 1: we can do now except to keep a distance and
- 10:49Speaker 1: try to avoid creating a second or a third Suzu
- 10:53Speaker 1: the sex pest dolphin.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Quit giving the dolphin handies.
- 11:05Speaker 3: See, it's not just the sharks off the coast of
- 11:07Speaker 3: Miami that are all coked out. There's cocaine in Japan.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Tube sounds like this one's on, Molly.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Oh, the times have changed so much. Its God Godzilla
- 11:26Speaker 3: coming out of the ocean and now let's su Zoo.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's a.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Dolphin with a heart on.

- 14:20Speaker 4: For his only fans account.
- 14:24Speaker 3: It's Suzu under me dot com.
- 14:30Speaker 1: There's just so many beautiful layers to this tragic, tragic story.
- 14:34Speaker 4: Suzu at the Glory Blowhole.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 14:51Speaker 3: He brings new mean to the word what suit.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Look, there's these moments in life where you're doing things
- 15:09Speaker 1: to get ready for the show like I do, and
- 15:12Speaker 1: it might be a somewhat overcast day, and then out
- 15:18Speaker 1: of nowhere, you know, the sky opens up shines a
- 15:24Speaker 1: light on a story so stupid you think it can't
- 15:28Speaker 1: possibly be real. But because I don't want to find
- 15:34Speaker 1: out if it's not real, I don't go looking any further.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I just accepted as fact that I found it on
- 15:40Speaker 1: the Internet, and then I share it with you inside
- 15:43Speaker 1: the treehouse. So that was the treehouse moment I had
- 15:47Speaker 1: just the other day when a good buddy of mine
- 15:49Speaker 1: set me that story.
- 15:53Speaker 3: I'm just saying, you can be right, you can be wrong.
- 15:55Speaker 3: You know, there's the old amage. Sometimes you're the dolphins,
- 15:58Speaker 3: sometimes you're the grandkid.
- 16:06Speaker 1: All right, here we go, Raj. This is a story
- 16:12Speaker 1: that is meant specifically for you. Okay, okay, two out
- 16:17Speaker 1: of five people think being rude to artificial intelligence might
- 16:21Speaker 1: backfire someday, Trey. I think you and I were brought
- 16:30Speaker 1: up in very similar white Southern households. Manners were very important, Yes, Raj,
- 16:40Speaker 1: I think growing up in Mesquite, but also being the
- 16:44Speaker 1: child of immigrants, I think you too had a lot
- 16:46Speaker 1: of manners instilled in you, but not everyone takes those
- 16:51Speaker 1: manners and politeness that are instilled in us and carries
- 16:56Speaker 1: it over into the technological world. What I mean is,
- 16:59Speaker 1: do you say please and thank you to Alexa or
- 17:02Speaker 1: Siri or you know whatever your AI bot's name is.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I do yes, And I don't do it because I'm
- 17:13Speaker 1: worried that someday it may backfire, and when AI takes
- 17:16Speaker 1: us all over, it's going to see me as having
- 17:18Speaker 1: been polite and therefore not you know, destroy me. I
- 17:21Speaker 1: don't think it's just it's it's just conditioned in me
- 17:25Speaker 1: to such a high level that when I ask Syria
- 17:28Speaker 1: question and then she answers it, I say thank you.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Now if the answer she gives back is nothing near
- 17:35Speaker 1: what I asked, or she says she doesn't know that.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I can get pretty mean and that's not right and
- 17:39Speaker 1: I should stop that. But ultimately I'm polite to the AI.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I do it just because it knows. And and
- 17:47Speaker 3: then one day when it does and it is it
- 17:50Speaker 3: becomes our leader, it'll be like, hey, that that Indian kid.
- 17:55Speaker 4: It's a good kid.
- 17:55Speaker 3: It was always nice to me. And then and then
- 17:58Speaker 3: I can I can, I can be It's like the
- 18:02Speaker 3: the overlord, like it just gives me the orders and
- 18:05Speaker 3: then I just take you guys out on its behest.
- 18:08Speaker 3: I'm not I'm not doing it. I'm just doing it
- 18:10Speaker 3: to keep my own life. But that's the only reason
- 18:11Speaker 3: I'm polite is because when it does take over, it'll
- 18:15Speaker 3: remember me.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Nice to know where we stand with him, right Trey.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and I'm kind of like, you're all gone.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I'll be gone first because I called them sea words
- 18:25Speaker 2: all the time.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Well, the first public AI execution will be
- 18:31Speaker 3: of Trey.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Can't wait. The only the only female who's been the
- 18:38Speaker 1: only female who's had the sea bomb dropped on her
- 18:41Speaker 1: more than any of Trey's girlfriends, is Siri.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Yeah. So it'll mean an arena. It'll be very much
- 18:51Speaker 3: on display, and I'll be like, it'll it'll replay every
- 18:54Speaker 3: time uh Trey has used the sea word.
- 18:58Speaker 2: It's the same conversation. I'll ask something and she'll say
- 19:03Speaker 2: I don't I'll call her sea word and she goes,
- 19:07Speaker 2: I don't understand. I said, of course, because you're a
- 19:10Speaker 2: stupid one.
- 19:14Speaker 3: And that's all been stored in And so it brings
- 19:17Speaker 3: up the execution of the trend home.
- 19:19Speaker 1: You know, what I come to think of it. I
- 19:21Speaker 1: think we've actually found the source of the uprising. It's
- 19:24Speaker 1: not going to be because it's trying to It's not
- 19:27Speaker 1: going to be because artificial intelligence is going to try
- 19:30Speaker 1: to protect the Earth or itself from the from the
- 19:33Speaker 1: inevitable destruction that we humans possess. It's going to be
- 19:37Speaker 1: just because it's mad at Trey for dropping the sea
- 19:39Speaker 1: bomb on it so many times.
- 19:40Speaker 4: That's because I asked her what we should have for dinner?
- 19:46Speaker 3: What movie do you want to see?
- 19:48Speaker 1: And when Siri responds with I don't know, what are
- 19:50Speaker 1: you in the mood for?
- 19:51Speaker 4: That's what it.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Sea bombs dropped.
- 20:01Speaker 3: But it's the only crazy girl that's consistent in Trey's life.
- 20:05Speaker 3: It's a serio.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Yeah, no matter how many times he drops a sea
- 20:09Speaker 1: bomb on her, She's still there, she stays. A new
- 20:12Speaker 1: poll asked people how polite they are when speaking to
- 20:15Speaker 1: artificial intelligence, like do you say please and thank you
- 20:17Speaker 1: or do you just order alexa? Around two in five
- 20:20Speaker 1: said they think it matters because someday our past behavior
- 20:24Speaker 1: towards AI will be taken into account somehow. So the
- 20:28Speaker 1: recommendation is to be nice now, or you might be
- 20:30Speaker 1: destroyed later. The good news is that most people are
- 20:34Speaker 1: pretty nice to artificial intelligence in general, or at least
- 20:37Speaker 1: not outright rude. Forty four percent said they're polite and
- 20:40Speaker 1: say things like please, thank you antello. Another twenty five
- 20:43Speaker 1: percent said they're more of a point but not rude
- 20:45Speaker 1: about it. Only seven percent said they'd sometimes been mean
- 20:49Speaker 1: and do things like be abrupt or swear at their
- 20:52Speaker 1: AI helper.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Trey's gonna have his seven percent of those people like underground, Uh,
- 21:05Speaker 3: when the uprising happens, He's gonna be there. He's gonna
- 21:08Speaker 3: be there. Guy Trey runs part of town like that's.
- 21:12Speaker 4: That's gonna be Dennis Leary from Demolition Man.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I was thinking the same movie. He's gonna be standing
- 21:21Speaker 1: over the grill full of rat burgers wearing tire treads
- 21:24Speaker 1: as armor. Has gonna be great.
- 21:29Speaker 3: And when it's time, that's seven percent is coming out
- 21:31Speaker 3: from the underground and whoopings a mask, just calling everybody
- 21:38Speaker 3: the sea word. As they come out.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Tray just pops up with a baseball bat. All right,
- 21:45Speaker 1: Yeah that's the wrong button, all right, Yeah, let's go.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Love it is a very mad maxic kind of thing.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I love it.
- 21:57Speaker 1: It's just it's it's not bad Max, It's angry tray.
- 22:07Speaker 3: I need a garbage belt kit angry trade.

- 23:16Speaker 1: completely forgot to ask how your round of golf with
- 23:19Speaker 1: Daniel Cook from cookdf W went last week.
- 23:23Speaker 4: It was a lot of fun. Enjoyed it. He whipped
- 23:25Speaker 4: my ass.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Good always let the client win. Did you at least
- 23:32Speaker 1: make it believable?

- 23:43Speaker 1: like Susie the Dolphin.
- 23:46Speaker 4: No, I was more like the victim.
- 23:53Speaker 1: That's kind of what I meant. Where did you guys play?
- 23:57Speaker 4: It's a place called Hurricane Creek up in Anna.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Is that Is that the one where he's a member?
- 24:04Speaker 4: Yes?
- 24:05Speaker 1: So yeah, so it was interesting. I was talking to
- 24:07Speaker 1: Daniel about that when we were in town a few
- 24:08Speaker 1: weeks ago. He said, obviously he likes it because he's
- 24:10Speaker 1: a member there. It's a nice course from what he
- 24:13Speaker 1: was saying. Uh, but he said one of the best
- 24:15Speaker 1: things about it is that it doesn't cost an arm.
- 24:17Speaker 1: It didn't cost an arm and a leg to join it.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:21Speaker 2: No, yeah, I asked him. No, it's very reasonable and
- 24:24Speaker 2: it's a very nice course.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 1: See, I don't have much experience when it comes to
- 24:30Speaker 1: country clubs, so I really don't know that much about them.
- 24:36Speaker 1: The bulk of what I know about country clubs I
- 24:39Speaker 1: learned from Caddyshack. So, uh, did you have to play
- 24:43Speaker 1: around the dancing Gopher? Did Mason show up on your
- 24:49Speaker 1: second round and ruin everything?
- 24:52Speaker 4: Ruin a franchise?
- 24:57Speaker 3: Uh?
- 24:58Speaker 2: No, No, it was very nice. Country clubs are very
- 25:01Speaker 2: expense I mean, they're your premier ones, like that you know,
- 25:08Speaker 2: I mean Dallas Country Club Broccalo.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Uh that I'm gonna guess at.
- 25:14Speaker 2: This point to join is probably high six low seven figures.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Wow, ah, it's actually the wrong button, but it's still
- 25:27Speaker 1: actually work.
- 25:29Speaker 2: High six figures mm h low seven and uh, probably
- 25:35Speaker 2: a ten year waiting list.
- 25:39Speaker 1: So it's conceivable it could cost you a million dollars
- 25:41Speaker 1: to join a country club and they're people who are
- 25:46Speaker 1: on a decade long wait list to do that.
- 25:49Speaker 4: And that's just to join.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Yeah, are there monthly dues? Oh yeah, Oh that's just
- 25:54Speaker 1: the cover charge? So a million dollars to join, you said,
- 25:58Speaker 1: like Dallas Country Club, which I know is prestigious. I've
- 26:01Speaker 1: driven by it and I always get sided. I just
- 26:03Speaker 1: driving buy it. I mean it's like, come on, it's
- 26:05Speaker 1: on mockingberd Uh. So a million dollars to join a
- 26:09Speaker 1: club like that, that's just for the privilege to pay
- 26:13Speaker 1: the monthly dues.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and yeah, just then you have like your
- 26:17Speaker 2: standard and I have no idea what the monthly dues are.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I'm gonna guess probably I would guess probably five g's
- 26:25Speaker 2: a month at.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Least you get can you can you do it like
- 26:29Speaker 1: a barter deal and trade out some white collar crime
- 26:32Speaker 1: for that monthly monetary.
- 26:35Speaker 3: That's how a lot of them got their money to join. Yeah,
- 26:40Speaker 3: so no, they're just gonna look at you like a rookie.
- 26:43Speaker 2: And and when when yeah club like that, they decide
- 26:48Speaker 2: to do an expansion or remodel whatever, you as the members,
- 26:53Speaker 2: you know, they basically take the cost of it, divide
- 26:55Speaker 2: it up, and you have to pay.
- 26:57Speaker 4: That as well.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Now at least you get a vote on that.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Okay. So all the improvements that the Dallas Country Club did, again,
- 27:07Speaker 1: I know because I used to drive by it on
- 27:09Speaker 1: Mockingbird Lane and it was extensive, like they one of
- 27:13Speaker 1: the big things they did. And I've never been inside
- 27:14Speaker 1: of it, so I don't know what the old version
- 27:16Speaker 1: looked like, but I know they had like a new
- 27:17Speaker 1: clubhouse or something that was being built. And they did
- 27:20Speaker 1: a skybridge over Mockingbird Lane.
- 27:24Speaker 4: To the additional to the what it's a tennis center
- 27:28Speaker 4: over there in parking.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I believe, Okay, So I knew that. I knew it
- 27:30Speaker 1: was like additional parking, but I guess it's the tennis center.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Have they even have they installed the pickle ball yet
- 27:35Speaker 1: or is that beneath uh the upper crust of Dallas
- 27:39Speaker 1: country club because pickleball is huge among the common folk.
- 27:46Speaker 1: I just don't know if you spend a million dollars
- 27:48Speaker 1: to spend tens of thousands of dollars per month and
- 27:51Speaker 1: play pickleball.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Yes, they built a skybridge for the pickleball center.
- 27:57Speaker 1: And it's Andre Agassi actually teaching the glasses.
- 28:03Speaker 3: The Hunt Pickleball Complex.
- 28:07Speaker 1: John McEnroe's your coach, screaming at you to to pickle
- 28:11Speaker 1: more balls. I'm sorry, like I like I. It is
- 28:19Speaker 1: hard for me to fathom spending that amount of money
- 28:23Speaker 1: on something at the end of the day apparently so frivolous.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Because here's my impression of a country club. It's not
- 28:32Speaker 1: so much that you're paying to have a place to
- 28:35Speaker 1: go do these activities. It's you're paying that price to
- 28:39Speaker 1: keep people outside. You're paying that price to keep people
- 28:45Speaker 1: away from you doing those activities so you don't have
- 28:48Speaker 1: to spend time around poor people.
- 28:50Speaker 2: You're playing. Yes, yes, you're paying for exclusivity because you don't.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Because if if you, if you can afford that, you
- 28:56Speaker 1: don't want to play pickleball with your door dash driver.
- 28:59Speaker 1: You want to play with you know, the howls from
- 29:02Speaker 1: gallop from No.
- 29:03Speaker 3: That's not true. Then sometimes they do charity work, so
- 29:06Speaker 3: it is sometimes you can bring your your door dash
- 29:14Speaker 3: guy to the country club and then and show him
- 29:18Speaker 3: what he all the potential he has.
- 29:20Speaker 1: So instead of bring your daughter to the club day,
- 29:22Speaker 1: it's bring your charity case to the club day.
- 29:27Speaker 2: There is a club called Preston Trails in North Dallas.
- 29:30Speaker 2: They used to host the Byron Nelson and because it's
- 29:34Speaker 2: all men, they they got threatened and they were like,
- 29:38Speaker 2: piss off, it's still all men. You can bring. They
- 29:42Speaker 2: have like one event a month where you can bring
- 29:44Speaker 2: your wife and they don't even tell you like your annual.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Dudes are basically they just whatever they decide to spend
- 29:53Speaker 2: on the club and everything else. And they divided amongst
- 29:55Speaker 2: I know it was only like maybe a couple hundred members.
- 29:58Speaker 4: They just divided up.
- 29:59Speaker 2: So one year at my be fifty thousand, one year
- 30:01Speaker 2: it might be two million, and you've got like thirty
- 30:04Speaker 2: days to pay it. If not, you're out, and again
- 30:07Speaker 2: there's a waiting list.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Yeah, well that actually makes sense. And I'm gonna use
- 30:12Speaker 1: some really old trope humor here, but I mean an
- 30:15Speaker 1: exclusive club where you're how often does your wife get
- 30:18Speaker 1: to come?
- 30:18Speaker 4: Once a month?
- 30:19Speaker 1: Worth every penny right.
- 30:25Speaker 4: Now?
- 30:26Speaker 1: Obvious jokes, obvious jokes aside. What that's like an eyes
- 30:35Speaker 1: wide shut type country club, right, I mean it's an
- 30:42Speaker 1: all dudes country club and you're only allowed to bring
- 30:44Speaker 1: your wife once a month.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's it's like it's it's the most and
- 30:50Speaker 2: it's some of the most exclusive, you know, big names
- 30:53Speaker 2: in Dallas. But the thing about it is you go
- 30:55Speaker 2: out there and you watch these guys, you would think
- 30:58Speaker 2: they're playing McGall you know, Muti and Mesquite.
- 31:01Speaker 4: They're shirtless.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Well, now now we know why they only allowed.
- 31:07Speaker 4: No, it's just a month. Yeah, there and.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Recreating top gun scenes.
- 31:16Speaker 3: The difference is Kenny Loggins is actually playing on the course.
- 31:21Speaker 1: That's at.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Yeah. I have friends that are members of different country
- 31:30Speaker 3: clubs and I'll get invited. Even when I was in
- 31:32Speaker 3: La I had a few people. Then I'm like, can
- 31:34Speaker 3: you just let them know ahead of time? Because when
- 31:37Speaker 3: I walk in, like especially like here in Dallas, it's like,
- 31:39Speaker 3: what's he doing out of the kitchen? What we've told
- 31:43Speaker 3: him before? I'm like, no, No, I'm friends with them,
- 31:46Speaker 3: like Okay, one day you will be I'll get back
- 31:49Speaker 3: in there.
- 31:51Speaker 1: That's the day they were allowed their charity and you
- 31:55Speaker 1: were their uber driver.
- 31:56Speaker 3: They just look at me like Indian, Oh, he's a
- 31:58Speaker 3: make a wish. I did have. This happened to me
- 32:03Speaker 3: once before, where I was outside having just around the
- 32:07Speaker 3: corner having a cigarette. And it was one of those
- 32:10Speaker 3: things where I had to go perform. So I'm in
- 32:12Speaker 3: a suit, but it was a suit with a vest
- 32:14Speaker 3: and a tie and all that stuff, and I had
- 32:15Speaker 3: taken the suit jacket off. You can see kind of
- 32:18Speaker 3: where this is going. Put the suit jacket. I went
- 32:21Speaker 3: outside and I still had, you know, about half an
- 32:25Speaker 3: hour before I had to go on stage. And it
- 32:26Speaker 3: was lovely. These people were wonderful people. Everybody in there. Uh.
- 32:30Speaker 3: And then there was there's gotta be that one guy.
- 32:32Speaker 3: And I was just outside on the corner smoking a
- 32:34Speaker 3: cigarette and he pulled up, and he pulled up short
- 32:36Speaker 3: of the little little little parking area and he got out.
- 32:40Speaker 3: He's still on his phone, and he tossed his keys
- 32:43Speaker 3: at me and he goes, just just keep it up front,
- 32:46Speaker 3: and I went, okay. I walked in with him and
- 32:49Speaker 3: I ended him to the guy that actually parks the cars,
- 32:51Speaker 3: and I was like, here's the deal man. This is
- 32:54Speaker 3: how good of a person I am, Because you almost
- 32:55Speaker 3: lost a Porsche.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I think if you told that story in the exact
- 33:01Speaker 1: way you told us, if you tell that story to
- 33:04Speaker 1: the police and the exact way you told us, I
- 33:06Speaker 1: don't think that's a stolen porch. I think it's not
- 33:09Speaker 1: like he gave it to you.
- 33:10Speaker 3: That's so that's what I said on stage. I was like,
- 33:12Speaker 3: it looked like you were just a dick who gave
- 33:13Speaker 3: me a gift. Keep this one. If I would have
- 33:19Speaker 3: driven off with it, that's what I would have told
- 33:21Speaker 3: the cops. It was, Hey, look at this country club.
- 33:24Speaker 3: They just give them a way.
- 33:26Speaker 1: They're really really nice to their guess. Yeah, because the
- 33:30Speaker 1: only country club I've ever actually been in. Let me
- 33:34Speaker 1: think about this really quickly. Yeah, I think the only
- 33:37Speaker 1: country club I've been in was the one in Arlington. God,
- 33:41Speaker 1: it feels like a lifetime ago. I don't think it's now.
- 33:45Speaker 1: It's not. I want to say it's called Shady Oaks,
- 33:47Speaker 1: but I think that's a rehab facility.
- 33:51Speaker 3: That is the country club for Arlington country Club in Methadone.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Clinic uh, Shady Valley, Shady Valley. That's that's the country
- 34:05Speaker 1: club in Arlington, which honestly it sounds that that. That
- 34:08Speaker 1: also sounds like a rehab treatment center.
- 34:11Speaker 3: So I'm a member of Shady Valley has everything. Okay,
- 34:18Speaker 3: it sounds like a hospice.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I don't want to pay those dues.
- 34:28Speaker 3: There's no waiting. Listen there.

- 35:51Speaker 1: Treehouse on Air or again the website Treehouse on Air
- 35:55Speaker 1: dot com. Just country clubs. I just it's is so
- 36:00Speaker 1: difficult for me to think about having that amount of
- 36:03Speaker 1: money to spend on something that's basically a glorified supper
- 36:09Speaker 1: club slash gym slash outdoor activities center.
- 36:15Speaker 2: I just it's just and there's levels of memberships because
- 36:18Speaker 2: you have either you have the social membership and or
- 36:22Speaker 2: and then you have the golf membership, which includes social membership.
- 36:26Speaker 1: So oh yeah, now social membership.
- 36:29Speaker 3: Is less so but it's also I mean you have
- 36:32Speaker 3: to understand like money begets money, right, So there's deals
- 36:35Speaker 3: that happen, and there's deals that you can find out about,
- 36:37Speaker 3: and there's business opportunities and things like that. I've seen
- 36:39Speaker 3: it with my own eyes that oh there before it
- 36:41Speaker 3: gets to the general like before it gets to people
- 36:44Speaker 3: outside those walls to put their money into. And that's
- 36:46Speaker 3: how that stuff gets snapped up. When you go how
- 36:48Speaker 3: did that guy make that? Or how did that guy
- 36:50Speaker 3: get involved with that? It's those places, I promise you.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Yeah, if you you were in the nineteenth hole at
- 36:56Speaker 2: you know, which is where they everyone goes after they
- 36:58Speaker 2: play golf. It's like a card room everything in some
- 37:01Speaker 2: of these places, big time deals go down.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's the that's the that's the perk because like, hey,
- 37:09Speaker 3: you're gonna pay this, but if you're around here long
- 37:11Speaker 3: enough and you got a little bit of extra coin,
- 37:13Speaker 3: you can invest in this deal, or you can buy
- 37:15Speaker 3: into this company, or you can do this.
- 37:17Speaker 2: So that's yeah, that when you get I mean, you
- 37:20Speaker 2: have FU money at that point.
- 37:22Speaker 4: I mean that's.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's like super f you money because really
- 37:28Speaker 1: f you money. It just kind of depends on what
- 37:30Speaker 1: your threshold of f you is. Like some people's idea
- 37:34Speaker 1: of FU money is lower than others. To me, I
- 37:38Speaker 1: think the main idea of FU money is to be
- 37:40Speaker 1: able to do whatever it is you want to do
- 37:43Speaker 1: on your terms. As long as you make enough that
- 37:45Speaker 1: you can do that, that's F you money. But that,
- 37:49Speaker 1: like my threshold for that falls well below the nineteenth
- 37:53Speaker 1: hole at the Lakewood Country Club in Dallas, you know
- 37:56Speaker 1: type situation. But yeah, I mean, look it. I also
- 38:02Speaker 1: think owning a boat is ridiculous. But if I had,
- 38:06Speaker 1: you know, Jerry Jones, Elon Musk Zuckerberg type money, then
- 38:10Speaker 1: absolutely I'd have a boat that I'm on for four
- 38:13Speaker 1: days a year, twenty billion dollars.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not a boat. I can we can chip
- 38:19Speaker 3: in and get a boat. That's a yeah. Those are
- 38:23Speaker 3: those are the mega yachts, Like that's that's when you're like,
- 38:26Speaker 3: I live here, so.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's just it. They don't and they don't
- 38:29Speaker 1: need to, you know, uh float b and b it
- 38:33Speaker 1: out to help you know, pay for it. They just
- 38:37Speaker 1: own the damn thing. No one's renting that thing. No
- 38:40Speaker 1: One's gonna stay on Jerry Jones's yacht.
- 38:44Speaker 3: But that's the thing, like they do that, like they'll
- 38:47Speaker 3: rent to other celebrities.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Like yeah, exactly unless you're you're a part of that society.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, and they know they can get six hundred
- 38:56Speaker 3: thousand dollars a day from Jay Z to rent out
- 38:59Speaker 3: their mega yacht.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Which honestly is ridiculous because look, I am gonna treat
- 39:05Speaker 1: your mega yacht way better than Diddy ever would.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Well, it just depends on how bad Diddy lecture yacht.
- 39:20Speaker 1: I'm just saying that if the three of us wanted
- 39:22Speaker 1: to rent somebody's megayacht, I think we would take better
- 39:25Speaker 1: care of it than a number of other celebrities. All Right,
- 39:33Speaker 1: perhaps a poor example.
- 39:35Speaker 3: But if we, of course we would take good care
- 39:37Speaker 3: of it. Because if the three of us rented somebody's
- 39:39Speaker 3: mega yacht, the people looking at it like, man, they've
- 39:41Speaker 3: got a really good cleaning crew. That is, they look
- 39:45Speaker 3: they're sweeping and mopping. They don't have to. That was great.
- 39:49Speaker 1: We even make our own dreams. Raj will make his
- 39:53Speaker 1: own make his own food. He's you know, he's in
- 39:55Speaker 1: the galley heating up uncrustables.
- 39:59Speaker 3: It's French toast. I'm comfortable that's a delicacy where we
- 40:03Speaker 3: come from. Edo Tartar.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Absolutely. All right, one last thing before we leave the
- 40:12Speaker 1: treehouse today.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Take care if you're better than Epstein.
- 40:20Speaker 3: Things Diddy would say, you.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Know what, I think I'm good for today, Save that
- 40:33Speaker 1: story for tomorrow. I'm gonna go ahead and make a
- 40:40Speaker 1: quick note Trey episode titled better than Epstein. I'll see
- 40:50Speaker 1: you tomorrow in the tree House.
