- 0:09Speaker 2: Seriously, they're on a heat. Tyler Phillips representing them today
- 0:13Speaker 2: for us and back on FT Tyler, good to see it.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Let's start with the headliner. What's going on with you
- 0:19Speaker 2: guys out there right now?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Uh?
- 0:23Speaker 3: Did? I don't know?
- 0:27Speaker 1: The boys are swinging the bats well, pitching.
- 0:30Speaker 4: I mean we've we've had a few meetings talking about
- 0:32Speaker 4: just trying to win four games a week, and I
- 0:35Speaker 4: guess we just like really took that to heart, you know,
- 0:37Speaker 4: like you win four games a week, that's that's two
- 0:40Speaker 4: series wins, you know.
- 0:42Speaker 1: So I think we just took that to heart. The
- 0:44Speaker 1: hitters or whatever meetings they're having. I'm not allowed in there.
- 0:47Speaker 4: I've been trying to get in there, but uh no,
- 0:50Speaker 4: they're just they're just doing everything right, man, moving the
- 0:52Speaker 4: ball forward, run the base is hard, playing awesome defense.
- 0:56Speaker 4: I want to give like credit to like Kyle Stowers.
- 0:58Speaker 4: I've been just thinking about them right now. Now guy's
- 1:00Speaker 4: moved over to first base and I think he's making
- 1:02Speaker 4: unreal plays over there.
- 1:04Speaker 1: But it's such full team round man. Everyone's doing their jobs.
- 1:08Speaker 3: That's good man. How's everything going, bro? You look good?
- 1:11Speaker 1: It's it's great. It's good to see you. Man, was
- 1:14Speaker 1: happy to see your name on there.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Bridy you keep working, dog.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I appreciate it. I appreciate it.
- 1:21Speaker 5: I'm sorry, ty hang on, can we can we go
- 1:23Speaker 5: to our full shot here? Because wait a minute, Like
- 1:26Speaker 5: you have never once talked about Tyler Phillips one time
- 1:29Speaker 5: and now it comes on the show and you're like, yo,
- 1:31Speaker 5: this is my guy. Bro Yo, this is yo yo.
- 1:33Speaker 5: For where are you back in Jersey?
- 1:35Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you want to know about That's.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Just it's just it's natural.
- 1:39Speaker 6: That's how it goes, that auto connection, man, That's how
- 1:42Speaker 6: that's how it is.
- 1:43Speaker 5: Okay, So do you know Todd as Little League World
- 1:46Speaker 5: Series champion or Home run Derby champion. How do you
- 1:49Speaker 5: know Tom?
- 1:50Speaker 1: Here we go, dude, I mean, honestly, both of them.
- 1:53Speaker 4: But we were in Texas together, man, we were spring training.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Here's here's a funny story. Todd come in obviously always confident.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Man.
- 2:02Speaker 4: The thing that like really threw me off is that
- 2:04Speaker 4: he brought his son in. It's my first spring ever.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Son comes in. We're all playing cards, gambling stuff like that.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Whatever comes in first hand of blackjack takes a hundred
- 2:15Speaker 4: bucks for me.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I was like, what the heck is going on here? Man?
- 2:18Speaker 4: And Todds just like he's being the man over there, dude,
- 2:20Speaker 4: like good energy, son brought it in. So h I
- 2:24Speaker 4: wish I wasn't the scared player that I was back
- 2:27Speaker 4: then because I think we would have had a really
- 2:28Speaker 4: good time.
- 2:30Speaker 3: No, you weren't scared, bro, Listen, listen.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I got I was scared. I was scared.
- 2:34Speaker 3: No besides me, stop it. Listen, dude.
- 2:39Speaker 6: I love all the younger guys and just like Cratzy
- 2:42Speaker 6: too as well.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Dude.
- 2:42Speaker 6: We tried breaking you guys in a little bit so
- 2:44Speaker 6: you felt comfortable.
- 2:46Speaker 3: It is.
- 2:46Speaker 6: It's a different ball game up there, dude, and especially
- 2:49Speaker 6: you know with the times of what was going on
- 2:51Speaker 6: and what was that two thousand.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And that was twenty twenty.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Man, there's twenty twenty, yeah, right on the dome.
- 2:58Speaker 6: So listen, if you ever felt scared, I wish you
- 3:02Speaker 6: would have came to me a little bit more. But
- 3:03Speaker 6: you look like you knew what you were doing. Even
- 3:05Speaker 6: if you were scared.
- 3:06Speaker 3: You acted like you belonging where you started and where
- 3:09Speaker 3: you're at now.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Dude.
- 3:09Speaker 6: I'm proud of you, man, because I know you're an
- 3:12Speaker 6: absolute beast, and I'm sorry my son took the hundred
- 3:15Speaker 6: bucks from you.
- 3:16Speaker 3: We'll get it back to you.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Hey, I'm I'm not playing with him anymore.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Let me.
- 3:24Speaker 6: I want to talk about trust too. I mean, you're
- 3:26Speaker 6: talking about being scared and trust. You talk about how
- 3:29Speaker 6: you know one of your coaches is really helped you
- 3:32Speaker 6: out a little bit with your catcher in that kind
- 3:34Speaker 6: of game. You know, I understand as a pitcher's perspective,
- 3:38Speaker 6: the trust you have with your catcher has to be
- 3:40Speaker 6: spot on and for you sometimes you know, you want
- 3:43Speaker 6: to do a little bit too much, or you want, hey,
- 3:45Speaker 6: maybe this and there, but you have to let go
- 3:47Speaker 6: and let your catcher do his job. So talk a
- 3:49Speaker 6: little about that and how you've gotten more confident in that.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Yeah, of course then.
- 3:54Speaker 4: I mean I think it was against the Athletics my
- 3:58Speaker 4: last out two outings ago, kind of had a little hiccup.
- 4:03Speaker 4: It was the fourth thing I went out there, men
- 4:05Speaker 4: got on base, and being a sinker ball guy that
- 4:09Speaker 4: I am, being the contact pitcher than I am, you know,
- 4:12Speaker 4: obviously I don't want to the guy advance. So so
- 4:14Speaker 4: I had to swallow my pride a little bit and say,
- 4:17Speaker 4: like the next day.
- 4:19Speaker 1: There was some fear there of letting the runner advance
- 4:21Speaker 1: and letting guys get on.
- 4:24Speaker 4: But I got a Joe mack here who's unbelievable behind
- 4:27Speaker 4: the dish, and uh, that's like the very first thing
- 4:30Speaker 4: that we talked about, Like I was being way too
- 4:31Speaker 4: quick to the plate, and that was taking a hit
- 4:35Speaker 4: on my stuff. It was taking a hit on my command.
- 4:38Speaker 4: And then I just ended up giving up free passes.
- 4:40Speaker 4: So Joe can't even do a job at that point anymore.
- 4:43Speaker 4: And they said, hey, man, like nobody's running off of
- 4:45Speaker 4: this guy. You got to understand that. And when people
- 4:47Speaker 4: do run, he's he wants them to. That's something he
- 4:49Speaker 4: always talks about, is I want people to run. So
- 4:53Speaker 4: I mean, that's just helped me build a lot of
- 4:55Speaker 4: trust in there and me and Joe. Whenever he isn't playing,
- 4:58Speaker 4: we'll talk on the bench just if I ever do
- 5:00Speaker 4: get into a jam, ways that he can help mechanisms
- 5:03Speaker 4: he can use to to get me to just stay confident.
- 5:05Speaker 4: But the end of the day, when you have a
- 5:07Speaker 4: guy that's gonna throw somebody out, whatever percentage he's throwing
- 5:11Speaker 4: out higher than a lot of other guys, makes me
- 5:15Speaker 4: feel better. You know, just do my job, throw the
- 5:18Speaker 4: ball over the plate. If they want to run, please
- 5:21Speaker 4: please give it a chance, you know, give it a try.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Talk about Joe Mack. Talk about him because people that
- 5:27Speaker 5: they are not Marlins fans or Catching fans, because if
- 5:30Speaker 5: you're catching fan, you should know who Joe Mack is. Like, Yeah,
- 5:34Speaker 5: this dude is the real deal. But talk about him
- 5:36Speaker 5: as a rookie having these conversations with you behind a dish.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, gosh, guy is a goofball. I'm gonna
- 5:45Speaker 4: I'm gonna put it right out there.
- 5:46Speaker 1: He's a goofle Love him, Love him to death.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Though, And that's like the energy that I want because
- 5:51Speaker 4: him being a goofble on, him being like a little
- 5:53Speaker 4: bit naive if you will, that makes him eager to
- 5:56Speaker 4: just continue to learn.
- 5:57Speaker 1: You know. That's the thing that's that's cool.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Yesterday in between innings, you know, we're watching, we're getting
- 6:03Speaker 4: excited for runs, whatever it is. But then out of nowhere,
- 6:06Speaker 4: we'll just start talking about like, hey, this is what
- 6:08Speaker 4: I need you to do, this is the setup I
- 6:10Speaker 4: need you to give me. Or he's talking about like
- 6:12Speaker 4: what he sees from the base runner on first just
- 6:14Speaker 4: like the most random stuff you could think of. But
- 6:17Speaker 4: he wants to get better every single day and he
- 6:20Speaker 4: wants he wants to serve.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And that's I think that's the biggest thing that a catcher.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Could could want, you know, when you're talking about the
- 6:27Speaker 4: best in the game.
- 6:28Speaker 1: It's something that I've learned back in the day.
- 6:32Speaker 4: It's always like, hey, we're here to serve, you know,
- 6:34Speaker 4: like you have to be selfish in this game. But
- 6:35Speaker 4: at the same time, as a catcher, you're there for
- 6:37Speaker 4: the entire team. You're watching the whole rest of the
- 6:39Speaker 4: eight guys, you see the whole field. You're there to serve,
- 6:41Speaker 4: and especially for our pitchers, just being able to get
- 6:44Speaker 4: us on track. That's that's gonna be the biggest thing
- 6:46Speaker 4: for him to just continue to learn, is how to
- 6:48Speaker 4: go and talk with the picture in between innings or
- 6:52Speaker 4: when they get into a jam.
- 6:53Speaker 5: All right, Well, you talked about his throwing ability, and
- 6:56Speaker 5: I'm going to swing another question. Have you seen anybody
- 7:00Speaker 5: throw like him in the game? Because right now, Joe
- 7:02Speaker 5: mack leads the league in caught stealing, not percentage, but
- 7:06Speaker 5: in guys thrown out. I think he's got like seventeen
- 7:09Speaker 5: dudes Hey's thrown out and he didn't get called.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Up till May.
- 7:13Speaker 4: Yeah. Have I seen anyone throw like him? I mean,
- 7:18Speaker 4: obviously I was around JT was. He was awesome to have.
- 7:22Speaker 4: But Joe does some some different stuff, man, Like I
- 7:25Speaker 4: remember seeing a video of him in triple A, like
- 7:27Speaker 4: he was looking at third and he somehow like did
- 7:30Speaker 4: like a little snake guys moving through it.
- 7:31Speaker 1: The second. Got a guy.
- 7:34Speaker 4: A few games ago against the Cardinals, I was pitching,
- 7:37Speaker 4: I was out of the game at this point, did
- 7:40Speaker 4: a backpick the third. It's just like you don't even
- 7:42Speaker 4: see it, like from the sideline, you know, Like it's
- 7:45Speaker 4: just the quickest snap throws.
- 7:46Speaker 1: It's the quickest pop time I've seen in a long time.
- 7:48Speaker 4: And it's a lot of fun to watch, at least,
- 7:51Speaker 4: I guess if you can't see it, if.
- 7:53Speaker 5: You so so, my question to you is, I'm not
- 7:57Speaker 5: sure if you were going to come on here as
- 7:58Speaker 5: a starter or as a lever, so as a catcher.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Are you different personalities, Because for Joe Mack being a rookie,
- 8:06Speaker 5: if I'm like constantly catching all Tyler Phillips starts, since
- 8:10Speaker 5: you've been a starter since most of his Big League
- 8:13Speaker 5: time so far, and then all of a sudden they
- 8:15Speaker 5: shift you back to the bullpen. Is he gonna have
- 8:17Speaker 5: to look at a different guy? Is he gonna have
- 8:19Speaker 5: to approach you different?
- 8:20Speaker 3: Like?
- 8:21Speaker 5: What is what is this energy that you're putting out
- 8:23Speaker 5: from from both sides of your pitcher persona.
- 8:28Speaker 4: I mean from the bullpen. I do feel like an
- 8:31Speaker 4: animal coming out of the gate there. I don't know
- 8:34Speaker 4: something about the adrenaline, Like if you ever seen the
- 8:37Speaker 4: movie Split, Like I feel like the Split guy just
- 8:39Speaker 4: like getting bigger, you know, like you coming out of
- 8:41Speaker 4: that Gate's it's a different feeling. But we do try
- 8:44Speaker 4: to be the same every every time. I know that's
- 8:47Speaker 4: like a kind of a boring answer, but the same
- 8:49Speaker 4: thing out of the As a starter, we're trying to
- 8:51Speaker 4: preach me feeling that animal the whole time. Granted, bullpen,
- 8:56Speaker 4: you're throwing one to two to three innings starting, you're
- 8:59Speaker 4: trying to go five, six, seven innings, so it is
- 9:03Speaker 4: a little bit harder to sustain and like maintain that mentality.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You get tired. It's like kind of a mental grind.
- 9:11Speaker 4: So they've been challenging me to check in and check
- 9:14Speaker 4: out in between innings when there's two outs, it's like
- 9:16Speaker 4: back to that animal mindset.
- 9:18Speaker 1: But those first two outs, when we're sitting in the dugout.
- 9:23Speaker 4: That's when Joe has this opportunity to come in and
- 9:25Speaker 4: get whatever out.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Maybe we'll joke a.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Little bit, but when once there's two outs, it's like,
- 9:29Speaker 4: get away from me. It's like just lock them back in. So,
- 9:33Speaker 4: I mean, dude, we're we're all we're all really close here.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I think we're really typed that team, and we're all
- 9:38Speaker 4: the same guy every day. Even if guys are struggling,
- 9:40Speaker 4: we all come in and we're having a blasts.
- 9:43Speaker 1: That's the number one thing.
- 9:45Speaker 5: Take us through the conversations, but then also the physical
- 9:49Speaker 5: ramp up to go from a reliever at the beginning
- 9:53Speaker 5: of the year. The role you had last year was
- 9:55Speaker 5: way different than what you're doing right now. So is
- 9:57Speaker 5: this a conversation in spring where they go, hey, we
- 10:00Speaker 5: could possibly do this since we bought brought Pete Fairbanks in,
- 10:04Speaker 5: but then they just had to transition you because to
- 10:07Speaker 5: build up to be a starter in the regular season
- 10:09Speaker 5: in the big leagues is no joke.
- 10:12Speaker 4: Take us through that, yeah, you know, I mean, it's
- 10:17Speaker 4: a tough game, man, Obviously, we had a few injuries,
- 10:19Speaker 4: some of our some of our death down at the
- 10:22Speaker 4: lower level. Some of the guys that we thought were
- 10:23Speaker 4: gonna be ready went through tj uh and that's that's tough, man.
- 10:27Speaker 4: I hate to see that. But in spring I was
- 10:31Speaker 4: throwing one to two innings, you know. I think there
- 10:33Speaker 4: was one outing where they wanted me to go three.
- 10:36Speaker 4: And that was a grind too. Just off season, I
- 10:39Speaker 4: wasn't necessarily preparing for that. It's preparing to be just
- 10:41Speaker 4: like a short burst reliever. During the season, though, I
- 10:46Speaker 4: was getting tossed into that, like the I don't want
- 10:50Speaker 4: to call it the mop up role, but it was kind.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Of like a mop up role.
- 10:52Speaker 4: You come in games, kind of in a gym and
- 10:55Speaker 4: you're in a buying and you gave up, like you're
- 10:57Speaker 4: losing by five or winning by five, something like that.
- 10:59Speaker 4: You don't want to waste your your leverage arms. I
- 11:03Speaker 4: was really good at just being efficient and going through
- 11:06Speaker 4: adage quickly, keeping the pitch count low. And then once
- 11:11Speaker 4: they just kept getting injuries, they just pulled me in
- 11:13Speaker 4: the office one day and said, hey, like, you cool,
- 11:15Speaker 4: if we just let you start.
- 11:17Speaker 1: You've been going three Ning's pretty much every time anyway.
- 11:21Speaker 4: So then at that point it's just it's a matter
- 11:22Speaker 4: of just going out doing the exact same thing, some
- 11:27Speaker 4: minor tweaks and to the starting plan.
- 11:29Speaker 1: But I've been pretty much treating my day to day
- 11:34Speaker 1: like a reliever.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Like obviously, like the lifting schedules different, the conditioning schedules
- 11:38Speaker 4: a little different, but mindset wise, preparation wise, I've been
- 11:41Speaker 4: treating it pretty much the same as I would when
- 11:43Speaker 4: I was a reliever, And all I'm doing is going
- 11:46Speaker 4: on a few extra innings.
- 11:47Speaker 7: Hey, for the families out there looking for a different

- 12:47Speaker 1: All right, take us into the clubhouse.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Right now, the Marlins are tied with the Phillies right now,
- 12:54Speaker 5: trade deadlines looming. How much do you guys talk about
- 12:59Speaker 5: trade deadline? I know teams that I was on that
- 13:01Speaker 5: we were in the playoff hunt, or we were actually
- 13:05Speaker 5: in you know, a wild card spot or division lead.
- 13:08Speaker 5: The conversations in the clubhouse were very few and far
- 13:11Speaker 5: between about trade deadline. Because if you're like, bro, we
- 13:14Speaker 5: need to pick up another starter, And you look across
- 13:16Speaker 5: like your locker next to you is the dude that's
- 13:18Speaker 5: the fifth starter. You're like, I wasn't talking about you,
- 13:21Speaker 5: like you feel like you're almost hurting your teammates. How
- 13:24Speaker 5: is that conversating and what do you guys talk about?
- 13:29Speaker 4: And to be honest, I haven't I haven't heard any
- 13:32Speaker 4: chatter about trades. And maybe I'm just like maybe I'm
- 13:37Speaker 4: just like not paying attention to anything. But I wouldn't
- 13:40Speaker 4: even have been able to tell you what our record was,
- 13:42Speaker 4: you know, Like, I know we've been playing well, dude,
- 13:46Speaker 4: we get in that clubhouse and it's just like we're
- 13:48Speaker 4: just looking to have fun.
- 13:49Speaker 1: We've been We've been switching the vibes up a lot.
- 13:53Speaker 4: On my start day, I know that we've been going
- 13:55Speaker 4: with a lot of like some soul music I like,
- 13:58Speaker 4: I like Rick James. I've been putting a lot of
- 14:00Speaker 4: ham on. We've been kind of going with a little
- 14:03Speaker 4: funky fish vibe. Guys have just been enjoying that. We
- 14:07Speaker 4: like to dance around, joke around. We got got a
- 14:10Speaker 4: few games in the clubhouse. Everybody's just competing. Nobody's really
- 14:12Speaker 4: talking about trade deadlines or where anyone's going. Like, see
- 14:16Speaker 4: the injuries suck, but like nobody really talks about that.
- 14:20Speaker 1: We just keep it keep it light, keep it loose.
- 14:23Speaker 4: I don't know if the team would appreciate me saying it,
- 14:26Speaker 4: But like I have a we do have like a
- 14:28Speaker 4: little extracurricular in the clubhouse next to my locker where
- 14:32Speaker 4: we all just like gather around after games. Uh you know,
- 14:36Speaker 4: I have a little have a little drain ski and
- 14:39Speaker 4: we're just on really well, like there's no there's no
- 14:42Speaker 4: talk about trades, there's no talk about records.
- 14:44Speaker 1: We just go out there and we're just having a blast.
- 14:46Speaker 4: That's really just That's why I said I think I
- 14:49Speaker 4: said it the other day, like it feels like high
- 14:51Speaker 4: school or college, like you don't even pay attention to
- 14:54Speaker 4: what's going on.
- 14:55Speaker 1: You're just having fun with your boys.
- 14:57Speaker 5: Is it celebrating? I mean you celebrate after win. Liked
- 15:00Speaker 5: you boys, because I've been on teams where we take
- 15:02Speaker 5: tequila shots after a win. We do different types of
- 15:06Speaker 5: What is the routine after Marlin's win? Who leads it?
- 15:10Speaker 5: What are the chants? And is there a certain music
- 15:12Speaker 5: that's played?
- 15:14Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I mean we there is definitely a routine.
- 15:17Speaker 4: We all get in there, we all gather around mister Fairbanks.
- 15:23Speaker 1: He grabs the.
- 15:25Speaker 4: The game log and he's going over all the all
- 15:27Speaker 4: the positives from the game. Who's gotten hits, who pitched well,
- 15:30Speaker 4: like obviously we all pay attention, we know what happened
- 15:32Speaker 4: in the game.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Just honor all those guys.
- 15:34Speaker 4: And then we have this like wwe like Marlin's belt
- 15:40Speaker 4: hand that out to the player of the game, usually
- 15:42Speaker 4: like we're just screaming at him, like telling him to
- 15:44Speaker 4: say it, to do a speech, and when he's about
- 15:48Speaker 4: to start doing his speech, we just keep screaming at him,
- 15:51Speaker 4: keep like tossing stuff at him, and then they'll do
- 15:54Speaker 4: his speech, usually something short and sweet like hey, let's
- 15:56Speaker 4: go get another win tomorrow.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Bump the music up.
- 16:02Speaker 4: I don't know what the music vibe is, kind of
- 16:04Speaker 4: just like stuff that we like, and then eventually we
- 16:05Speaker 4: get back into that funk vibe. But then over by
- 16:09Speaker 4: my locker, we do have we do have the curtains,
- 16:11Speaker 4: we pull them open. I got a bunch of polaroids
- 16:13Speaker 4: in there with guys. After the wins, we take pictures
- 16:16Speaker 4: with them, and we definitely do sweep shots and most
- 16:23Speaker 4: of the pictures will all gather around there, you know,
- 16:25Speaker 4: position players, they got stuff to do the next day.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Pictures is a little bit of a different animal, but.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Usual together around have a drink together, just decompressed talk
- 16:33Speaker 4: about the game, whatever it is, and you know, it's
- 16:35Speaker 4: just like I said, just keeping it tight knit, keeping
- 16:37Speaker 4: it close, and just bonding, man like, just hanging.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Around each other. Like those are the teams that are
- 16:42Speaker 1: going to be successful. I love that.
- 16:45Speaker 2: That's awesome, And I hope people know what goes on
- 16:48Speaker 2: behind the scenes to help build the camaraderie because that's
- 16:51Speaker 2: important and you can see it with the way the
- 16:52Speaker 2: team's playing. So I have a question in terms of
- 16:55Speaker 2: how to appeal to the fan base. I lived in Miami,
- 16:59Speaker 2: and there's just so much competition down there. There's so
- 17:01Speaker 2: many people that aren't born there right that go down there.
- 17:04Speaker 2: They're fans of other teams, the whole deal. So my
- 17:07Speaker 2: question is, how do you organically produce more people like
- 17:11Speaker 2: you who are so good on interviews like this, Like,
- 17:14Speaker 2: are there any players on the team that you're like, hey,
- 17:16Speaker 2: you can give give a little more crack some of
- 17:19Speaker 2: these jokes to the media to help fans, casual fans
- 17:23Speaker 2: catch a viral moment, because you know how it is.
- 17:25Speaker 2: It's like in Miami, you could basically be the best
- 17:27Speaker 2: team in the league, but then still if there's not
- 17:29Speaker 2: some viral moment or some star name who's a Hall
- 17:32Speaker 2: of Famer. It's just hard to break through the noise.
- 17:34Speaker 1: That's just what it is in that city.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean there was so much other stuff going on.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Like I know, we have a fan base. I just
- 17:43Speaker 4: I would love to see him come out to the game.
- 17:45Speaker 4: I know Marlin's and network they DM me the other
- 17:48Speaker 4: day they got like forty thousand followers. Asked me to
- 17:50Speaker 4: just do a little video, try to encourage people to
- 17:53Speaker 4: come out, do a little takeover.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Man.
- 17:56Speaker 4: I mean, we just got to keep lying. Well, just
- 17:58Speaker 4: hand handle what we can control. Control, you know the
- 18:00Speaker 4: cliche answer. But I do encourage guys constantly, Like obviously
- 18:05Speaker 4: I've talked to the pictures. Gosh, I haven't even talked
- 18:09Speaker 4: to some hitters here and there, like early in the year.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Just about like presence on the field.
- 18:15Speaker 4: The two guys that stand out to me the most,
- 18:18Speaker 4: Like obviously Pete knows what he's doing, He's.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Got he's got mound presence.
- 18:21Speaker 4: Two guys that stand out to me the most are
- 18:23Speaker 4: Michael Peterson and Kate Gibson. Like these guys they come
- 18:27Speaker 4: out there with some fire now man, Like early in
- 18:29Speaker 4: the year, even last year, a little bit like you.
- 18:32Speaker 4: You have that little rookie like that sense that I'm
- 18:34Speaker 4: a rookie. I don't want to show anyone up, you know.
- 18:37Speaker 4: And gosh, I dealt with that too, and get to
- 18:39Speaker 4: the point where nobody really cares. Like the other team,
- 18:43Speaker 4: they don't. They don't care. They might remember it, they
- 18:44Speaker 4: might want to get some revenge on you, but it's
- 18:47Speaker 4: the same that, like we have the same thing, you know.
- 18:49Speaker 4: So I've been encouraging them, like, hey, man, go out there,
- 18:52Speaker 4: show some fire.
- 18:52Speaker 1: People want to see that. So I got I got
- 18:55Speaker 1: kid Gibson.
- 18:56Speaker 4: And uh, gosh, you can't say his name, Mike Peterson,
- 19:00Speaker 4: and I got a nickname for him. It's like his
- 19:01Speaker 4: alter ego. But like I can't say it's it's I'll
- 19:07Speaker 4: tell you this. It starts with an MF and then
- 19:09Speaker 4: it goes Mike. But uh, they've been throwing the jacket
- 19:12Speaker 4: on after outings, you know, like after they walk off
- 19:14Speaker 4: the mountain, like they get out of a gym, they're
- 19:16Speaker 4: tossing the jacket on. I'm like, oh, that's sick, man.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Like they're they're just like jawing at themselves. They're john
- 19:22Speaker 4: at the other guys. They come in. You can feel
- 19:24Speaker 4: the energy when they're coming out of the bullpen and
- 19:26Speaker 4: they come into the dugout, like people need to see that.
- 19:29Speaker 1: That like gives me I got chills right now just
- 19:30Speaker 1: thinking about it.
- 19:32Speaker 4: And we got a lot of guys like that, man,
- 19:34Speaker 4: like even the hitters, Like we do this stuff in
- 19:36Speaker 4: the dogout now where Brian Navaretto.
- 19:39Speaker 1: He's some of the best energy I've been around in
- 19:42Speaker 1: this game.
- 19:43Speaker 4: We got our h one of our shrink coaches, Daniel Vega,
- 19:47Speaker 4: Like they start to do this like number they're like
- 19:49Speaker 4: five six, seven eight, and we do this like well,
- 19:52Speaker 4: we're all snapping and clapping and dancing around and they
- 19:54Speaker 4: got the fight and fish h like bottled girls service
- 19:58Speaker 4: thing and we're just like dancing and chanting around like
- 20:02Speaker 4: people probably hear us from the other dog out and
- 20:04Speaker 4: like what in the world is going on over there?
- 20:06Speaker 4: And like that's the fun that that we have. That's
- 20:08Speaker 4: like the viral moments that I wish people could come
- 20:11Speaker 4: out to the stadium and see. Like I I think
- 20:13Speaker 4: there's like a few like the season ticket holders that
- 20:15Speaker 4: are behind they know, but but like that's the stuff
- 20:18Speaker 4: that that gives me chills just seeing these guys, like
- 20:21Speaker 4: seeing them blossom and get away from from like that
- 20:24Speaker 4: scared kid that I mentioned to Todd earlier, Like that,
- 20:26Speaker 4: I felt like I was nervous to do.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Something wrong, like, oh, I don't want to get in trouble.
- 20:30Speaker 4: I don't want to be viral, Like I wish guys
- 20:34Speaker 4: would say, like, dude, don't be viral. Yeah, we're playing baseball,
- 20:37Speaker 4: But I do think that there is a sense like
- 20:38Speaker 4: we're still entertaining at the same time, you know, like
- 20:41Speaker 4: people want to see that. That's how you're gonna get fans,
- 20:43Speaker 4: and the more fans you get, the more the more
- 20:48Speaker 4: incentive there is. Just don't play hard, you know, like
- 20:50Speaker 4: it feels good having that having that roar behind you.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Cap I've been looking for the best deals for the
- 20:58Speaker 5: All Star Game tickets and Philly, where are you going
- 21:00Speaker 5: to get some tickets from?
- 21:02Speaker 8: I'm going straight out to Rife Field. If Harper and
- 21:05Speaker 8: Schwarber both joined the home run derby, I want to
- 21:07Speaker 8: be catching the hometown guys hitting them. So I'm going
- 21:09Speaker 8: out to the Rife Field kind of where I think
- 21:11Speaker 8: I could get the best chance of catching one of
- 21:12Speaker 8: those home runs.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Maybe in the second deck. You can go on the
- 21:15Speaker 5: app and you can look to see what your view
- 21:17Speaker 5: is going to be because the boys are going to be

- 21:51Speaker 5: Thank you to sea Geek and we'll see you at
- 21:53Speaker 5: the game.
- 21:54Speaker 3: There you go.
- 21:54Speaker 6: Broh, you fire me up. I want to go put
- 21:56Speaker 6: an uniform on right now and go play.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Hey, come on down, you know I would.
- 22:01Speaker 3: My last question to you for me.
- 22:04Speaker 6: Red Sox still have not taken off from last night's
- 22:06Speaker 6: game and they're still sitting in Chicago when they have
- 22:09Speaker 6: a game at seven to ten in New York. If
- 22:13Speaker 6: you're a starting pitcher today, if you're not, still haven't
- 22:15Speaker 6: taken off you're not supposed to land until after four
- 22:18Speaker 6: thirty five o'clock. Are you losing it a little bit?
- 22:20Speaker 6: Are you like, ah, whatever, let's just let's let it
- 22:22Speaker 6: roll whatever.
- 22:24Speaker 4: I think at that point, like you probably go through
- 22:27Speaker 4: the four stages, you know, like the despair, like the
- 22:30Speaker 4: yam me like all this stuff. You probably go through
- 22:32Speaker 4: the four stages and then you get to acceptance. I
- 22:35Speaker 4: know it's if it's me, i'd probably just be like
- 22:37Speaker 4: to whatever. Man, Like I think when we were in
- 22:40Speaker 4: Saint Louis, two outings to go for me, like I
- 22:43Speaker 4: was talking about, I was just going in survival mode,
- 22:45Speaker 4: like my body felt terrible, it was super hot day game.
- 22:48Speaker 4: It's probably where I would be at that point. I'd
- 22:51Speaker 4: be I'll get me wrong, I'd be pissed. But again's
- 22:54Speaker 4: control what you can control. That is insane. I didn't
- 22:58Speaker 4: know that, but uh yeah, just go out there, do
- 23:01Speaker 4: your job the best you can.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Uh.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Everybody's everybody on that flight's gotta gotta play the same way,
- 23:06Speaker 1: you know.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Anyway we joke about how our bodies feel constantly here too,
- 23:11Speaker 4: Like like Max Meyer, this guy, I think he's got
- 23:16Speaker 4: He's probably throwing more innings this year. Than he has
- 23:18Speaker 4: his entire career combined, so like obviously his body's gonna
- 23:21Speaker 4: be feeling it.
- 23:22Speaker 1: And we're always.
- 23:23Speaker 4: Joking like, oh, dude, I'm shocked, like I don't know
- 23:25Speaker 4: if I can pitch today.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And then we go out and you know, he'll go
- 23:28Speaker 1: out and throw seven. You know, I think at that
- 23:31Speaker 1: point you just go into survival mode and go compete. Man,
- 23:35Speaker 1: That's all. That's what it's all about.
- 23:37Speaker 5: Oh, who's the biggest freak on the team. Who's the
- 23:40Speaker 5: guy that you're like, whoa if people knew about this guy,
- 23:43Speaker 5: like this guy talking about like talent wise on.
- 23:46Speaker 1: The field, he's freak on this team.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Dude, I gotta put I gotta put Mike Peterson up there, man,
- 23:56Speaker 4: Like he he locks in that mental side.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Dude.
- 23:59Speaker 4: He's seven. He's got Nigerian blood in him. His middle
- 24:04Speaker 4: name is like Ketichuku. He's this six foot seven guy.
- 24:09Speaker 4: We call him the pie thrower too, because he's got
- 24:10Speaker 4: this long arm action like it you probably like in
- 24:13Speaker 4: the box, you can't see he's throwing twenty one vertical
- 24:17Speaker 4: movement fastball?
- 24:18Speaker 1: Is it ninety seven to one hundred?
- 24:21Speaker 4: And like I said, like he when he comes in
- 24:24Speaker 4: like we had a conversation earlier in the year in
- 24:27Speaker 4: La where like I could sense it was like a
- 24:29Speaker 4: back to back day for him, and I could sense
- 24:32Speaker 4: that he was like kind of stirring a little bit mentally,
- 24:34Speaker 4: and uh, you know, it wasn't the ideal out and
- 24:36Speaker 4: for him, and I just pulled him to the side
- 24:38Speaker 4: in the tunnel and I had this I had this
- 24:40Speaker 4: long just like rant to him where I was saying, like, dude,
- 24:44Speaker 4: those guys do not care about you. They will hit
- 24:46Speaker 4: a line drive off your forehead. They'll probably take a
- 24:49Speaker 4: step back for a second, like, oh man, I hit
- 24:51Speaker 4: that guy, But then they'll keep rounding the basis, you know,
- 24:53Speaker 4: because that's their job.
- 24:55Speaker 1: And I think he took that to heart.
- 24:57Speaker 4: And now I see him come out of that pen man,
- 24:59Speaker 4: and you can see that he's seeing red. I can
- 25:01Speaker 4: see steam coming out of his ears. And man, if
- 25:04Speaker 4: I was a hitter, I would not want to be
- 25:05Speaker 4: in the box against him. I think that's like the
- 25:07Speaker 4: physical specimen. He has the stuff, and I think the
- 25:11Speaker 4: mindset is right there, and I just want him to
- 25:13Speaker 4: keep it there.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Epic, epic love the combo, dude. We love catching up
- 25:20Speaker 2: with you. Yeah, And hopefully Marlins fans you hear about
- 25:23Speaker 2: all of this, so love the personality.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Chat Tyler.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Great to catch up with you, man. Enjoy the break too,
- 25:30Speaker 2: and we'll catch it in the second half.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Yes, sir, I come down. We got a jersey for
- 25:34Speaker 1: you bro.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Alright kid, I'm ready, ma
