- 0:44So what are you doing with those old belief patterns and the old
- 0:48belief systems that you really don't believe in anymore, but
- 0:51you're made told to do it? We're going to flip them right
- 0:54here on the world of conscious positive thinking, right here on

- 1:18Hey thanks for tuning. In Welcome Back are those of the
- 1:21speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views or positions
- 1:26of any entities they represent. The web at MB radio dot.
- 1:32Hey, good morning on this Monday morning, June the 23rd right
- 1:37here on MB radio dot USI am MJ with the world of conscious
- 1:41positive thinking. Woo.
- 1:43We've had a lot of thinking this weekend.
- 1:47I know everybody's chattering like monkeys out there.
- 1:51However, I want every single person to close your eyes and
- 1:55look around afterwards. close them. close those eyes.
- 1:59Take a big old deep breath. Wow, you're still here.
- 2:05Damn, you're still here. You're not injured, you're not
- 2:07hurt, you're not dead, but you're still here.
- 2:09What's that mean? That means whatever you are
- 2:13thinking, whatever that ego, whatever that judgement's going
- 2:16on in that head, take it right out.
- 2:20Sir, ma'am, take it out. Because we're not at war.
- 2:27We have strength. We have strength to show.
- 2:32It is somebody saying I am telling you to stop and they
- 2:38don't. That's an authoritative, I'm
- 2:42giving you a warning. Stop, however, with the chatter
- 2:47monkeys out there. I understand you have to express
- 2:51your feelings, but every time you express your feelings, I
- 2:55want a positive reenactment feeling going on going, but
- 3:00you're not there. You're not there.
- 3:03However you are here. You are safe.
- 3:06You are OK. Look at the world around you.
- 3:09Look how beautiful the grass is. Look how beautiful the sun is.
- 3:13We are in our summer solstice. It is the energy.
- 3:16We are in a manifesting year. This manifesting year is our
- 3:19midway mark. We have our new moon coming.
- 3:23It is another manifestation energy.
- 3:26Look how beautiful and divine we are.
- 3:31Yes, things are happening, but they always do Why?
- 3:33Because we're catalysts and we always have life lessons to
- 3:36learn. How do we function?
- 3:38Well, we function by honoring the positive side and flipping
- 3:42those right here, we're flipping it.
- 3:45So if you do have, you know, I understand it's hot.
- 3:50Listen, it is so hot. I just want to show you this
- 3:54bang check on your friend who have naturally curly hair in
- 3:59this heat because we are not OK. Do you understand?
- 4:02We are not OK. I'm just saying we're not now.
- 4:06I just showed you behind my scenes because I had to show you
- 4:09my crazy hair. That's right.
- 4:11You can flatten it all you want, but whoop, it's going to go
- 4:14right up in this humidity. And it's OK because we got we
- 4:17got a little bandies that we put on our hair.
- 4:19That's right. Or it could be like Jewel and
- 4:21you know, he'll he'll take the weave off.
- 4:24It's a little too hot for Jewel. Anyhow, we have an exciting
- 4:29show. We have a beautiful guest today.
- 4:32Her name is Gemma Lopez. I call her my personal doc.
- 4:38She has so insightful. She brings just another
- 4:42dimension of healing with so many different certs, so many
- 4:47different certificates, so many different healing modalities
- 4:51that you're in awe and you just not only you're in awe, you're
- 4:55like in awe of her beauty first when you see her and then you're
- 4:59in awe because you're like, my gosh, she is so extremely in my
- 5:05thought and in my impression and others too.
- 5:08Just a beautiful healing by touch.
- 5:12And you just know you're gonna feel better.
- 5:14You just know because that's the energy that she gives off.
- 5:17It is such a positive, uplifting energy and she is physical
- 5:24therapy. However, don't even look at that
- 5:27because she can see right through you and she can see
- 5:30exactly what's going on. And give you a little story.
- 5:34My husband who he was a a charter boat.
- 5:38He was normally private and did a lot of tournaments.
- 5:41But think about how that tower has to climb right?
- 5:45And so here's the boat, right? This is what he did.
- 5:50And you people who fish, you get it.
- 5:52This is what just happens. So his hips are doing this since
- 5:57he was 12 and probably before that in his own personal boats,
- 6:01not on, not on the charters, not on the paid boats, right?
- 6:04Of course, we're born. He was born, not me, but he was
- 6:07in Miami. So that constant moving of those
- 6:11hips and it's ironic, he went to the VA and they told him with
- 6:17the sciatic, he had degenerate disc and that there was no
- 6:22cushions and that the only thing that was going to make him
- 6:25better was this unit that they're going to put inside of
- 6:28his back, his spine. Not one surgery, not two
- 6:32surgery, 3 surgeries. I go no, no, no.
- 6:36By this point I had really met and loved Miss JAMA and when I
- 6:44got to her, I said, can I ask you a quick question?
- 6:47I said, do you would you mind? I said, I know you know, you're
- 6:51not quite private yet. And I said, but I trust you
- 6:54enough that I'm asking you to just to have a, an e-mail of my
- 6:59husband. Well, we didn't really know each
- 7:02other. She surely didn't know my
- 7:03husband at the time, but she came to my house.
- 7:07I'm not kidding you men. Seriously within I'm going to
- 7:12say 1/2 hour. I wasn't there but my husband
- 7:15said it was pretty quick. She diagnosed him not even
- 7:20needing the surgeries that the VA did.
- 7:23She diagnosed him of pelvic floor issues.
- 7:27Gave him a series of exercises, said it might take a while, but
- 7:31if he is consistent with the exercises, then it's going to
- 7:36make him feel better. So we had to go for another
- 7:40operation to remove the stuff that they took out.
- 7:43Meanwhile, he's in physical therapy.
- 7:46She talked to a physical therapist or he did with the
- 7:49evaluation that she gave and they started working in physical
- 7:53therapy with these ailments with.
- 7:58I asked her is it would it work? What I shouldn't even have asked
- 8:04if it would have worked, but I said I'm going to look now at
- 8:07the right frequencies and I had been plugging in what the VA
- 8:12said but it wasn't helping. The minute I started plugging in
- 8:16the frequencies for his pelvic floor issues and his sciatic, it
- 8:21made like this whole big difference in the world's into
- 8:26his healing process. So between Gemma's beautiful
- 8:29X-ray eyes and her eval and her stuff compounding with the
- 8:36exercises and Rife, this man was painless.
- 8:40Painless in 10 days, 10 days, painless.
- 8:46And every day that pain went down and down and down.
- 8:51She is on my side, women's side. She specializes in oncology for
- 9:01bilateral mastectomies. I am a survivor of bilateral
- 9:06mastectomy cancers and one of my complications are my central
- 9:13nervous system. My nerve endings are not really
- 9:16good. That was from the military.
- 9:18I don't have very good nerve endings.
- 9:19So the scar tissues, when it happened, my nerves just started
- 9:25curling up, creating something called a neuroma.
- 9:30I had 13 of them, 13 neuromas. I went to Gemma and asked her
- 9:37about them and she did these massages and she goes, you know,
- 9:41you can do it this way, you can have them removed.
- 9:43I said I do not want to go under a knife.
- 9:44I don't want to go under, I don't want to do this, I don't
- 9:46want to go under that. I want to try to do this
- 9:50homeopathically. I want to try to do it as
- 9:53alternative. So she created these massages to
- 9:56massage these neuromas out. And I'm not gonna lie, they were
- 10:02painful. And I also used Rife and we also
- 10:05used Reiki, these 3 modalities. Out of 13, I only have 3 left.
- 10:12There's three. I was like the heat and the
- 10:15sweat. No, I only have 3 left out of
- 10:1813. No surgery.
- 10:21Again. I spied Gemma to the rescue.
- 10:26She is beyond as a healer. We know that we're not here to
- 10:32heal every single person. We're here to help assist to
- 10:36heal the person, right? Doctors included nurses, right?
- 10:40When you are a service to others, especially as a healer,
- 10:44we give them modalities. It's up to you and your mind
- 10:47frame and how your physiologies and your mechanics can all
- 10:51assist in helping. But it's up here.
- 10:54Then we got to get it straight and our body will respond and
- 11:00she brings that to fruition every damn time.
- 11:04I'm not kidding. She works on beyond.
- 11:07I mean, she, she works on cosmetic surgeries.
- 11:10People who have it. And here's the thing, when you
- 11:12do these things like oncology, a lot of I never had to go through
- 11:16physical therapy. the VA never put me through it, which was the
- 11:19worst thing in the world because that's why I got a lot of the
- 11:21scar tissue. They have to go through these
- 11:24therapeutic areas in order to release these things.
- 11:30I had a couple of patients that I knew was completely No matter
- 11:34how I tried to remove anything metaphysically, no matter how I
- 11:39tried with right frequencies, still needed the mechanics of
- 11:44the physical body in order to move.
- 11:48I have sent several of my customers and my clients to her
- 11:53for further healing, especially down there in Miami, which is
- 11:56where she's at. And her story is amazing.
- 11:59The triumphs, the tribulations, the awareness going through her
- 12:05own, just her own journey. It's just incredible.
- 12:11So if you're sitting there wondering if you have pain
- 12:15somewhere, but you're not in pain, I'm then I'm talking
- 12:17directly to those right now who the frequency or the vibrations
- 12:23of Earth, especially through the bombings, especially through
- 12:29Mount Kilawalla, who is erupting the earthquakes, These are lower
- 12:34vibrational frequencies. These frequencies are going to
- 12:38end up having a displacement on our own energy.
- 12:43And you compound it with the energies above going through the
- 12:47full moon. That was rough.
- 12:48That full moon was rough on a lot of people.
- 12:52And we honestly, we need to be aware of energies at all time.
- 13:00If we start to feel ourselves being depressed or we start to
- 13:03feel ourselves being out of sorts and being depressed, we
- 13:09need to ground back in, right, ground back into earth tone,
- 13:13ground back into unconditional love, ground back into
- 13:16Cephegios. If you don't have another way of
- 13:18using audio pipe frequencies or right frequencies, do yourself a
- 13:23favor. Look up Cephegios.
- 13:24Right. SO no, yeah, SOFF sofedge.
- 13:29Come on, MJ SOFFI e.g. A no GIOG.
- 13:36I'll figure it out. I'll put it up there.
- 13:37But anyway, wherever Joel is Joel bat cave, I need
- 13:41sofeggio's. Send me the word sofeggio in the
- 13:47bat cave there and then I'll put it up online.
- 13:50Or you can put it post it up online.
- 13:51What is Sofeggio frequencies? These are frequencies that go by
- 13:55emotional or go by physical decoding.
- 13:59They are knowing now that sound frequency is another modality of
- 14:03therapies in all of us. So when you get yourself down,
- 14:07especially right now, the earth is feeling the shakes and the
- 14:11shivers. So we compound it and we
- 14:15remember. The more you can stay calm in
- 14:17the chaos is the higher vibration you seek.
- 14:20So no matter what's going on around you, you always stay
- 14:23within a positive frame of mind. It's not that we are burying it,
- 14:29It is that we are understanding it and we refuse to give it any
- 14:34type of our energy. It's the same as illness.
- 14:38So now that I just spoke my jopper off for 15 minutes, we're
- 14:42going to go to commercial. When we go to commercial, we'll
- 14:44bring you the interview of the week and we'll bring the
- 14:46beautiful Miss Gemma on board. And we're going to find out who
- 14:49she is, where she's from, get her back end story, and then go
- 14:54into beautiful discussions of how each and every one of us can
- 14:59handle and hold this beautifulness.
- 15:02And there, there it is. That's right, the ninth official
- 15:05frequencies, 174 Hertz foundation of foundation and
- 15:09pain relief. OK, so we're going to copy all
- 15:13this Sergio, and we're going to put it in our comments.
- 15:18Here we go, folks. If you don't know about them,
- 15:21we're going to paste it. Here it is.
- 15:25My boy found it. So it goes through different.
- 15:28You can even look up any type of hurt system of emotional
- 15:34decoding that you're going through, and I encourage you to
- 15:37use it. It is probably one of the best
- 15:39things that you can do for yourself.
- 15:43The only thing you got to do is just lay down quietly and try to
- 15:46go within. Put an eye mask on if you have
- 15:49to, make sure you're nice and comfortable, and allow the music
- 15:53to work for you. The best time is to get binary
- 15:56headsets. Why?
- 15:57Because your brain works in harmony in a binary system,
- 16:03right? That's why you have the right,
- 16:04left of the brain, the thoracic and the spiritual sides of the
- 16:07brain that kind of work. So instead of tapping the
- 16:10Safegio, you put them on and it'll balance throughout the
- 16:14brain. That chemistry of the frequency
- 16:17that you're looking for. It's amazing how it works.
- 16:20Plants respond by it, humans respond by it and the fairy
- 16:24world responds by it, which is the dog, cat, animal world.
- 16:27They all respond by music. If you don't believe me, try it
- 16:30on your own pets. If you see them acting up,
- 16:32they'll be right there and they'll be right there to help
- 16:35you and gather whatever information that you need.
- 16:38All right so MBR radio dot US. I'm MJ of the world conscious
- 16:45positive thinking. We're going to go to our first,
- 16:49our first song of the day, and I'm going to pick Cynthia Rausch
- 16:53coming home. I kind of felt right now with a
- 16:57lot of people who were trapped over there, they're coming home.
- 17:02We've been releasing them from hostages situations we've been
- 17:05picking up and finding those who are missing and getting figure
- 17:09out where they are. So I thought it would be a
- 17:12really nice thing to do today. So here we go, Cynthia.
- 17:25I'm about as far as I'm going. Welcome home.
- 17:28I'm sure your family and all your friends are going to be
- 17:30glad to see you. Thank you, Sir.

- 23:07And there she is, down in Miami. Hi, Miss Gemma.
- 23:12Hello, Miss MJ. I'm so happy to see your
- 23:15beautiful face. I miss you, I miss you.
- 23:19Mammy Oh, very soon, very soon. Kim and I are checking out
- 23:23dates, so it's going to be very soon, very soon.
- 23:26Is it as hot down here? It's boiling, I don't know if
- 23:30you can see my hair. We keep the house at like 70 so
- 23:33it doesn't go too crazy. I know, I know that.
- 23:37That the humid, curly, frizzy hair thing.
- 23:40Dude, I, I give up. I, I actually straightened it
- 23:42this morning. Look, I was like, I just give
- 23:46up. I'm telling you, where's my
- 23:47alpacas? I don't even try in the summer.
- 23:50I just give up. I put it in my little let My
- 23:52Little Pony thing like you touched that be.
- 23:54Carry every good woman has a pony holder I.
- 23:58Have a ton of them. Oh my gosh.
- 24:01So I, I absolutely just adore you, you know that.
- 24:05And I am so thankful that we've crossed our paths in this
- 24:09lifetime and I got to be able to find somebody who can actually
- 24:13assist in healing beyond the one modality.
- 24:17Because always having to move around to find somebody to
- 24:22always like this part and this part and this part.
- 24:24You seem to be like this big beautiful package and healing
- 24:29the body physically and mentally and emotionally.
- 24:31I just, I, I don't know, I, that's just my take on you and I
- 24:35don't care what anybody else thinks because that's just
- 24:37judgement on their end. But I'm going to claim it
- 24:40because that's who I am. So I gave a little ditty about
- 24:44you, but I really want to dig in.
- 24:46I want to dig in. Who is Gemma Lopez?
- 24:50Where are you from? Where were you born?
- 24:52How did you get to Miami? Did you live there?
- 24:55I mean, I got a lot of questions.
- 24:58Happy to answer them all. This is just you and I having a
- 25:01conversation and I love it because I miss you.
- 25:05So where am I from? I was born in the Philippines,
- 25:07believe it or not. My dad was there working on
- 25:10airplanes, training, my mom was the secretary for the airline
- 25:15that he was working with and voila, here I am.
- 25:18Of course, I came to the United States at the age of 3 1/2 and I
- 25:22lived in that Kendall Kendall area of Miami for forever and
- 25:26now I moved out to the Redlands with my husband and my 3 kids.
- 25:29So out in as country as you can get in Miami as you know.
- 25:34Go ahead, Sorry. No, I said.
- 25:36Yes, yeah. So that was out.
- 25:39There too, so I know very well. Well, this is kind of nice out
- 25:42here 'cause it's country ish and you get away from the big city
- 25:45which I lived in for most of my life.
- 25:47So I knew it was too much energetically for me and that's
- 25:50why I moved out here sort of to the country.
- 25:52The nature of the trees, the animals.
- 25:55We have chickens, we have the whole 9 yards.
- 25:56So I love it. I love the E i.e. i.e.
- 25:59I/O. So then, so you were basically
- 26:03went through school in Kendall, so you graduated.
- 26:05Did you stay in the Miami area for school?
- 26:09I stayed in the Miami area my whole life.
- 26:11The only time I've ever been out of the Miami area is to travel.
- 26:13That's it, which we love to do. But this is my home base and has
- 26:18been since I moved here in 76. And you went to college there as
- 26:22well? Yeah.
- 26:23So I started off in Miami-Dade. I earned an associate in science
- 26:26degree in physical therapy. So I was an assistant for about
- 26:3025 years. About 20 years into it, I
- 26:33decided I wanted to go back to grad school.
- 26:35So it's crazy. I had three little kids, made a
- 26:38huge change in career. It was a total leap of faith,
- 26:42let me tell you. And three years full time grad
- 26:45school, I had to quit my job, take care of a family and all
- 26:48that good stuff. And I survived.
- 26:51That's all I can tell you. Sometimes I wonder how I did it
- 26:54because you know, with three young kids in school, I did pick
- 26:57up work on the weekends once I could.
- 27:00It was a challenge, but it took a village to do it.
- 27:02I had the help of my mom, my husband, my sisters, and you
- 27:06know, that's what it's all about.
- 27:07The Villager. Exactly, takes a village to
- 27:11raise a kid these days. No, I'm a big kid.
- 27:14I'm only 50 kids. I'm a really big kid.
- 27:16I need help. When you got through it, that's
- 27:20the power within us. It's the power within the eye,
- 27:23it's in the power within. What is it that you want?
- 27:27And when you want something, you are like you manifested it.
- 27:31No matter how long it took, you know it wasn't going to last
- 27:34forever. So we took the burden on in
- 27:37order to achieve the manifestation that we wanted or
- 27:40desired most. And you can be unstoppable when
- 27:43you get to that point. And that was.
- 27:45Exactly. So let's talk about your
- 27:49training. So you went back into grad
- 27:52school and then you got your your Is it called a doctrine?
- 27:57I'm sorry. OK.
- 27:58So then you got your doctor in through physical therapy.
- 28:02So in those areas, what kind of physical therapy did you
- 28:07specialize in or were you targeted and where you worked?
- 28:10It's funny because all of my career I worked in orthopedics,
- 28:14back injuries, shoulder injuries, knee injuries.
- 28:17And while I was in grad school, they do expose you to
- 28:21Pediatrics, you know, rehab, neurological stuff.
- 28:25And so my last rotation, they wanted to put me in a, what they
- 28:28called a hybrid. So I would do orthopedic, but
- 28:31then I would also do oncology and lymphedema.
- 28:34I knew absolutely nothing about it.
- 28:36I sent an e-mail to the professor that sent us out to
- 28:39all these clinical internships. And I said, this isn't for me.
- 28:43This isn't what I want to do. It's not the career path that I
- 28:46want to go on. And I still remember Doctor
- 28:49Munyekas told me, Gemma, you need to put another tool in your
- 28:51toolbox. Just go there open minded and
- 28:54get whatever you can from this experience.
- 28:56And I said, OK, you know, God's leading me here.
- 28:58For whatever reason. I went to the University of
- 29:01Miami. I did that that rotation.
- 29:03And I absolutely fell in love with the world of oncology and
- 29:07lymphedema. And that's how I ended up in
- 29:09this in this realm, so to speak. My clinical instructor, Anna
- 29:13Mae, she was a beautiful light. I saw the joy that she would
- 29:18bring to these patients. And I thought, this is exactly
- 29:21what I want to do. And so when I graduated in 2019,
- 29:25I went back to do a certification in lymphedema at
- 29:28the Academy of Lymphatic Studies because lymphedema is a
- 29:32secondary effect of cancer many times through radiation when
- 29:36they take out lymph nodes surgery.
- 29:38And so that specialty helped me help your world or the world of,
- 29:44you know, oncology is so much better from head and neck cancer
- 29:47to bladder cancer to, you know, breast cancer, all the above.
- 29:50It's been a, it's been a quite a journey and I've loved every
- 29:53minute of it. This, I'll tell you, it's a
- 29:56journey. I mean going through the
- 29:58process, whether it's a lobectomy or it is a full
- 30:02radical bilateral, it is, it's a, it's a journey that you're
- 30:07like, man, I could, I could live through anything.
- 30:12If I can live through that, I can live through because that
- 30:15is, it is it's not just taking out the cells.
- 30:20There is so much reconstruction that has to go back in and
- 30:25people, I think have a misconception that they want to
- 30:32be put back together as they were.
- 30:34But I it's hard for me to get that in a mental picture because
- 30:39it's impossible to put you back the way you were because there's
- 30:44pieces missing and you don't want that.
- 30:47Like it's those pieces that were causing the disruption.
- 30:50That's how I, I thought of it in my own mind, right?
- 30:54I don't, I don't want to go back to that because that would mean
- 30:58that I was then be a struggling person yet again and I didn't
- 31:03want that. You know what I've found with my
- 31:06patients, especially the breast cancer survivors, you go through
- 31:11very much. I I worked with amputees for a
- 31:14quick minute when I started in this field in 1994.
- 31:17And you go through a phantom limb, you grieve the loss of
- 31:22that part of your body. It's very, very real.
- 31:25And I see the women go through it.
- 31:26And I've actually had some male mastectomy patients as well.
- 31:30So just beware. It's a very small percentage.
- 31:32I think it's like 5% of males can also have breast cancer.
- 31:37So it's it's a big, yeah, it's a major change.
- 31:40So, you know, everybody needs to be aware.
- 31:42That's the reality of it. You know, I'm really glad that
- 31:44you brought up the amputees because here with the military
- 31:48broadcast, we have quite a few veterans who get amputated or
- 31:55have shrapnel to the face or burning of the bombs are, I
- 32:00mean, that require a lot of OT and PT.
- 32:04And so I don't, I don't, I understand that you do a lot of
- 32:08lymphatic and you do these, but you also do these types of work,
- 32:13right. And so for the, for the women
- 32:16and the men who are going through the traumas of those.
- 32:21And you're in that Miami area, Sikh Gemma, right.
- 32:25And I think with any type of amputee, and you can correct me
- 32:29if I'm wrong, there is some type of psychology behind where you
- 32:35give like this beautiful. I, I don't want to say that you
- 32:41are, you're a counselor, but you're not.
- 32:44I, I don't know, maybe you do. Do you have a psych degree too?
- 32:48No, I I feel like I do sometimes.
- 32:49Though I know you go into like therapy and you're like, man,
- 32:55I'm a counselor, but I'm not like I'm.
- 32:57Just, I think being human, that's part of it, right?
- 33:00We and I and I've worked with patients for months, sometimes
- 33:03years on end, on and off. So you, you develop a rapport, a
- 33:07relationship and you share things and you, you hear their
- 33:10traumas, their, their worries, their anxieties, their fears.
- 33:13And it's the human thing to just kind of have conversation about
- 33:16those things. And I think that's therapeutic
- 33:18for for the patients as well. Yeah, I think it is too.
- 33:21I think it's important for them to speak.
- 33:23I mean, even when I was doing the PTSD circles in The Cave
- 33:27where I bring the people for it, it's allowing them to have a
- 33:31voice. It's allowing them to speak.
- 33:34And I think the more that they speak about it, to heal it and
- 33:37flip it is, the better that they become eventually by letting go
- 33:44now. How do you feel so when you get
- 33:49these people and you're doing like your counseling, but you're
- 33:53also doing your PT and your and you're working on these bodies,
- 33:56do you feel that the energies that they go back into could lay
- 34:01to layaway them, like just push them back a little?
- 34:04Do you feel that their surroundings are also playing a
- 34:08contributing factor? I mean, 100% their surroundings,
- 34:12their mental state, their energetic levels, you know,
- 34:15where are they at at that point in life?
- 34:16Absolutely it can. They can regress, they can
- 34:19progress. I think it and and it's OK if
- 34:22you take a step or two back in the process to take 3 or 4 steps
- 34:26forward. But yeah, 100% absolutely.
- 34:30You know, I did an eval on a patient this past week who was
- 34:34he was discharged. Well, I don't know if he was
- 34:35discharged from the military. He left voluntarily, but he had
- 34:39an an injury recently and it kind of woke up, I guess, some
- 34:44of the PTSD that he had had and he had recovered from.
- 34:48So I think it's perfectly normal for these for, for the men and
- 34:53women to have a little SEC and to embrace it and then move
- 34:57forward, you know, with, with dignity class hope all that good
- 35:00stuff. Absolutely.
- 35:03I, I believe that there's trapped energy within that area
- 35:07and I believe that no matter how much in the physical that we do,
- 35:12the mental energy that we assess to the trauma has to be massaged
- 35:18as well, has to, we have to move that energy out some way,
- 35:21somehow. And I know on a smaller scale,
- 35:25not on like a grandioso, but I know you do massage therapy as
- 35:29well. I mean, that's part of physical
- 35:31therapy. So yes, I am not a massage
- 35:33therapist. I need everybody to understand
- 35:35that. But we are taught how to do
- 35:37manipulation of the soft tissue, whether it's through soft tissue
- 35:41massage or stretching of the soft tissues, working with the
- 35:45fascial system. So it's important to to realize
- 35:48when I see a body come in front of me, I do look at the entire
- 35:51body. I don't just look at the knee,
- 35:54the leg, the shoulder, the breast that you know, And from
- 35:57there I work with the physical body first.
- 36:00When I get to a point where I am stumped and the patient is maybe
- 36:04plateauing, then that's when I move into more of the energetics
- 36:08and I say, OK, what is going on here?
- 36:11What emotional blocks do we have?
- 36:13What, what are we holding in the tissues that maybe I can help
- 36:17the patient, the client maneuver and and release.
- 36:20OK. So it is a very holistic
- 36:22approach that I use and I want people to understand that.
- 36:26But when I get to the point where physically I, I, I've
- 36:28reached a, a stump, a block, then I do go to the energetics
- 36:32100%. And we try to work through
- 36:34whatever, you know, we, we hold trauma in our tissue, a lot of
- 36:38trauma. Would you and you know what beta
- 36:42like do I consider? Would you consider yourself more
- 36:44like a beta health worker or a beta doctor?
- 36:49What do you mean by beta doctor? Well, like Doctor Climus is more
- 36:52of a beta where she doesn't necessarily just use
- 36:56pharmaceutical. She doesn't like, I mean, we're
- 36:58talking two different doctoring things here, but she's more
- 37:02about using the mechanics of Earth or infrareds or salts in
- 37:09order to heal the body in a more natural setting that the body is
- 37:14used to. But trying to fix the body with
- 37:17so much big pharma or nuclear medicines, it sometimes is a
- 37:23real detriment to the body and it works backwards.
- 37:27Yes. So I guess in the sense of the
- 37:29physical realm, what I do, yes, I do.
- 37:33I do look at and evaluate, you know, all of those things
- 37:37because, you know, it's funny MJ that.
- 37:39But over my career, especially in the last six years that I've
- 37:42been working in oncology, I do see a relationship between
- 37:47cancer and some type of past with emotional, mental,
- 37:53sometimes physical trauma. And people do not realize that
- 37:57we hold this stuff in our tissues and we have to find a
- 38:00way to release it, let it go, work through it.
- 38:03Because if not holding it in, it can manifest as so many
- 38:07different things, as, you know, high blood pressure or
- 38:10depression or cancer, whatever the case is, you know, So it's
- 38:15absolutely critical that we look at the whole patient.
- 38:18So yeah, I guess I am a potpourri, a mix of both,
- 38:20Eastern, Western, if you want to put it that way.
- 38:23Yeah, I and I know when you say things like when you it just
- 38:29like here's my mind connecting the dots, connect the dots, la,
- 38:32la, la. But when you say stuff like
- 38:34that, I'm sure you and I don't know if you've, you've taken it,
- 38:38but I do teach a frequencies course.
- 38:41How is your body driving? And it's about music and it's
- 38:44about the frequency. And when your core frequency,
- 38:48when your body core frequency is 48 Hertz or lower, that's the
- 38:54time. And when I see as a healer that
- 38:59I see the people, they're cancer cells, they are or they are of
- 39:04some dying Organism or disease that will take the body down
- 39:10because your body core frequency is under 48 Hertz.
- 39:14Now I'm curious, have you, have you done frequencies like
- 39:22vibrational frequencies, tuning forks and stuff to bring
- 39:25vibrations up? Do you do you take part and
- 39:28stuff like that? I have not yet but it's on my
- 39:31bucket list to become certified as a sound healer.
- 39:35So it's funny but I am looking into courses because I know
- 39:38there is a relationship between the the 2.
- 39:41I do, yeah. So I I just find because even
- 39:47humming like when I when I see people do through that kind of
- 39:52course when I teach it, I always tell them about humming because
- 39:56when you own are you hum, you're vibrating the whole system.
- 40:00Do you believe in that? Yes, 100%.
- 40:03It also elicits what we so it brings your body from that
- 40:08flight or fight stage down to that parasympathetic rest and
- 40:12digest stage. So yes, 100% I've actually told
- 40:15patients to ohm just sit there and ohm find what whatever
- 40:19frequency works for you, just do it.
- 40:21And it has the scent, a way of bringing down that that your
- 40:25system. Do you also use modalities like
- 40:29EFT tapping for your clients? I have in the past.
- 40:33I use it on myself as well, although sometimes I forget to
- 40:37to work on myself like that. But yes, I have suggested that
- 40:40as another modality for patients that is a hazard.
- 40:43Of healers. Did you know that?
- 40:45What's that? We don't, I said.
- 40:46That's a hazardness of healers. We don't give ourselves, you
- 40:51know that that opportunity to give ourselves downtime.
- 40:54We are, we tend to be service of others, service to others
- 40:57ingrained and we forget about us and that happens quite a bit.
- 41:02But then you know what I do when I get to that point?
- 41:04I call you. I either call you.
- 41:11But that's why we're here, right?
- 41:13A healer always needs, you know, we, I know.
- 41:15Miss Kim calls it healer to healer and it's true.
- 41:19You can only, you can only service others so much until you
- 41:22got to step back. You have to step back and you
- 41:24have to understand that that energy that you're working is
- 41:29now going to affect you somehow and affecting us.
- 41:34Now we have to have heal to heal.
- 41:35We either have to have a total body cleansing, A detox,
- 41:38something to remove. And it's not that it's a bad
- 41:42thing. So any patient out there, I'm
- 41:43not saying that. I'm saying that energy crosses
- 41:48with everybody. It's kind of like the moon's
- 41:50energy or it's the Earth's energy.
- 41:51What we were talking about before I brought Gemma on.
- 41:54These energies are frequency based patterns.
- 41:58Believe it or not. You can feel the vibrations of
- 42:01Earth, how it goes, whether it is in total chaos, whether it's
- 42:05in. And this is what makes people
- 42:07angry. This is what makes people use
- 42:10their beautiful judgement and ego side of their voice.
- 42:13This is where all of this stems from.
- 42:15So when you're in pain, Gemma, what how do you practice with
- 42:21your with your patients when they, they constantly are very
- 42:25agitated, depressed, sad, just and and you know, it's by pain.
- 42:32Oh boy, that's a loaded question because.
- 42:34I'm so sorry. No, it's OK because I do try to,
- 42:39yes, we do absorb some energies and it's, I've learned how to
- 42:43sort of process it while my hands are on the patient.
- 42:47But yes, there's the one or two that come in and it's a little
- 42:49bit harder for me to resist that or allow it to just flow through
- 42:53me and I absorb some of it. So one of the things that I do
- 42:56and I tell my patients to do, as well as a lot of grounding, I
- 43:00will. I love gardening, so I get my
- 43:01hands dirty and I put it in Mother Earth and soil.
- 43:04I love it. It's one of the best therapeutic
- 43:06tools for me. But I also have a favorite tree
- 43:09in my backyard. I think I've told you about
- 43:10that. I like to sit on the roots or
- 43:12against the tree or lay down under the tree and ground myself
- 43:17too. So I find different ways the
- 43:18sunlight is a great way for me to ground the ocean, you know,
- 43:22and I do relay that message to my patients.
- 43:24I tell them, get outside, sit outside, listen to the birds,
- 43:28let the wind hit your face. It's, it's important for not
- 43:31just me, but for the clients as well.
- 43:34But I've gotten better as I'm in this and as I became a Reiki
- 43:37practitioner, You guys help me understand that world of energy
- 43:41and that how to process it and move it through so that I can be
- 43:44a better service to others. Because I did hit a wall years
- 43:48back working in a room for 11 hours a day under fluorescent
- 43:52lighting, no windows working in the oncology realm.
- 43:56It, it got a little bit to be too much, which is why I seeked
- 43:59out your professional, you know, help as well.
- 44:02And I'm so grateful to you and and Kimmy for.
- 44:04That but we love you. We think that you are just one
- 44:07beautiful Angel that walks to heal people.
- 44:09So we're we're really happy to have met you and our energies
- 44:14yet again met in this this beautiful state and glad we
- 44:18found each other. We're going to go to a break
- 44:21because I'm at that mark. So I think what we're going to
- 44:24do is take a little break. We're going to go.
- 44:26And this, this reminds me, her name is Jess Muse.
- 44:29She is active duty. She is in the military.
- 44:34And it's because it's the name is because you love me.
- 44:38And it is about Bethesda Medical Center and healing others and
- 44:43taking the time to love them. Not just heal them, but to love
- 44:47them. And this is how I think of
- 44:49Gemma. So you're listening to MB Radio
- 44:52dot US. My name is MJ.
- 44:53We're on with a beautiful guest. Her name is Gemma Lopez.
- 44:57She is a physical therapist down in Homestead, FL and we'll be
- 45:04talking to her and finishing our conversations with our rest of
- 45:08our thing. But right now we're going to go
- 45:09to Just Muse with Because You Love Me.
- 45:12Remember, think of Gemma when you hear this.
- 45:15Be right back. The station where our veterans
- 49:41voices are heard. MBR talk.
- 49:43Hey thanks for tuning. In Welcome Back are those of the
- 49:49speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views or positions
- 49:54of any entities they represent. The web at MB radio dot.
- 50:00There we come back. Man, that song, it is like
- 50:05humbling. It is a every time I hear it, I
- 50:09smile. I smile with such humility and
- 50:12grace and thankfulness to know that there are so many people,
- 50:18including our military, they fight for your freedom.
- 50:22Our healers fight for your health.
- 50:25Do you understand? It's just like one big round
- 50:27Robin. And to actually bring and bridge
- 50:30so many things, to be so beautiful and so close and so
- 50:34healing. That song though, it can
- 50:37emotionally get to us, but I think it emotionally gets to us
- 50:40because of humility with grace. And I think it's like, thank
- 50:45you. It is an answer to the prayer.
- 50:47And that's all these people are looking for is help.
- 50:50And when you can help in such a way to put a smile on any face
- 50:53that has agony, pain, suffering or sadness, God love you.
- 50:57Keep doing what you're doing. Because if nobody else sees it,
- 51:01that man upstairs sees it, and that's all that matters, right?
- 51:05You see it and that man sees it. And that divine of God will just
- 51:10vibrate you to the epitome of such a pillar in society that
- 51:15sooner or later those around you are going to be in awe of how
- 51:20much you actually care. Because you do love them.
- 51:24That's why I played that song for Miss Thank you.
- 51:28There you have it. It brings, I think it, it sets
- 51:32off something inside of me just because of gratitude.
- 51:35I, I think it's more of a gratitude thing.
- 51:38Like God, you picked me to do this for others, but in, in the
- 51:42in the same realm, I get back from the people that I work
- 51:47with. So it's, it is this beautiful
- 51:49flow of give and receive. And I absolutely love what I do.
- 51:52I've done it now for what, 30 plus years?
- 51:54And I'm, I'm gonna continue. I'm not going anywhere.
- 51:58And the more. That I learn the more you know,
- 52:01I can offer other people and, and it's just beautiful.
- 52:04It's beautiful. I believe that to be so true.
- 52:07I honestly, Gemma, I think the world is just an oyster near the
- 52:11Pearl. Honestly, I, I've never seen
- 52:14somebody with the ability to OK, I, I said it.
- 52:17You did like an X-ray machine going up.
- 52:19It's right there. I'm like, Oh my God.
- 52:23Yeah, that's it. That's it.
- 52:25So. You know, it's, it's funny
- 52:26because you and I have talked before in the past and I told
- 52:29you that my hands are kind of like, it's like they're reading
- 52:32Braille. When I work on a body, I, I can
- 52:35focus where I'm not, I'm looking at you, but I'm not looking at
- 52:38you. And I can feel the tissues,
- 52:40whatever's underneath heat and I can kind of it, it's sort of, I
- 52:44don't know, moves me in the direction of where I need to go.
- 52:48And sometimes just because your symptom is a shoulder and arm,
- 52:51it doesn't necessarily mean that that's where the dysfunction is.
- 52:54So it's really looking deeper and, and I, I'm just so grateful
- 52:57for what I do. I am.
- 52:58What a gift, what a beautiful gift, a gift to humankind and a
- 53:03gift to bridge. I'm just, I'm in awe.
- 53:05So I want to dig further. So when you're working and
- 53:13people are emotion, let's talk the emotional side of healing
- 53:18when they get into these emotional drifts where we were
- 53:22talking before break. I is there any physical thing
- 53:28that one could do? Just pick, you know, pick a pick
- 53:33a finger maybe because more people get their fingers hurt.
- 53:35I think. So is there anything that for
- 53:40that emotional pain, breath work maybe or massage it maybe or how
- 53:47do we, how do we interact? Does reflexology work and do you
- 53:52use reflexology to try to maintain that?
- 53:55Can we discuss that a little bit?
- 53:57Yeah, so it's funny because as soon as you said breath work,
- 54:00when you're asking the question, the first thing I always teach
- 54:05my patients is how to breathe. A lot of people don't know how
- 54:08to breathe, just regular deep breathing, OK, because that can,
- 54:13again, we talked about that fight or flight level of living
- 54:17that we all live in and we have to bring the system down in
- 54:20order for healing to, you know, occur.
- 54:23So yes, if they have pain in an area, whether it's a finger, an
- 54:26arm or whatever, I do teach them to breathe into that area as I'm
- 54:31working on it. So I have them send nice
- 54:34oxygenated blood flow to the area and I, I energetically work
- 54:39there or I manipulate with my hands, soft tissue work,
- 54:41whatever the case is. Another thing I'll do is I'll
- 54:44have them use colors. I'll have them visualize certain
- 54:48colors or you know, 'cause colors are also frequencies.
- 54:51So if it's a healing, if I've, I'm working on somebody who's
- 54:54got a a lot of resentment and anger and there's a liver issue
- 54:58both in the physical realm and energetically, then I have them
- 55:01push the color green to help with healing.
- 55:03So there's different things that I will do.
- 55:07Sometimes it's movement and have them move and sometimes they
- 55:10move just subconsciously, you know, their bodies speak to what
- 55:13it needs to do to unwind. Food.
- 55:16I do a lot of work with faster the faster system, you know, And
- 55:19as we are unwinding the faster system, it gets so bound down
- 55:23through physical or emotional trauma as your eye am releasing
- 55:28it. Then you'll see them move an arm
- 55:30in a certain way or they start hammering in another part of
- 55:33your body. Very interesting how the body
- 55:36works. And then I incorporate the
- 55:39breath work, the light work, whatever I'm called to, to have
- 55:43them do at that time. That is so awesome.
- 55:46So let me ask you. So when people go to you like
- 55:52I'm just going to, I'm going to pick on Miss Kim, my sister.
- 55:56So Shanna Frozen's shoulder, our calcium blew up, I guess inside
- 56:00the shoulder. And they sent her to physical
- 56:02therapy in New Jersey. And she's been going to physical
- 56:05therapy. But she said after like the
- 56:08first, I don't know, two weeks with using right frequencies and
- 56:13using her modalities plus going to PT, she goes, I'm good, but
- 56:18she still goes. So because they have given her X
- 56:21amount of times to go to PT, so she still works on it.
- 56:26The limits of PT on an injury. What is the like the longevity
- 56:32if somebody is feeling good, Like I even have, I have, I
- 56:35think I have 5 people in my room right now who are all in into a
- 56:38physical therapy situation for a knee, a shoulder, a hip,
- 56:42something. But they claim they're like, I
- 56:43don't know why I'm going. I feel good.
- 56:45It's, it's, I mean, it doesn't even bother me anymore.
- 56:47What do you say to people who don't do the the six weeks or
- 56:52the 8 weeks and they kind of stop because they feel good?
- 56:55That's just a number that doctors love to give.
- 56:58It's an average, but realistically, if I can get a
- 57:03patient to 100% in five sessions or 90% or whatever, I don't keep
- 57:08seeing them unless they want to come see me.
- 57:11Especially if they're a patient who's paying cash.
- 57:13I don't, you know my thing. If they want to come back or
- 57:18they they need a refresher or a maintenance, then they'll come
- 57:20back. But yeah, if you can resolve the
- 57:22issue within four or five, six sessions, then there's really no
- 57:26need to come back. I think patients stay because
- 57:29maybe part of it is fear that it's going to come back again or
- 57:32it's going to get worse. But you know, I try to resolve.
- 57:35I try to kind of calm their fears.
- 57:39Right. Yeah, but no, there's no need if
- 57:41if you can get fixed in six sessions and the doctor orders
- 57:4412, you don't have to stay around, right?
- 57:48You know. Well, I just because I it's
- 57:50funny, I2 or three of them I hear are going.
- 57:54You know what it I just, I'm just going to go because I'm
- 57:58still going. But yet you hear them rumbling.
- 58:01I got a farmer friend up here. He's like, I got to go.
- 58:05I don't know. He goes, I don't care.
- 58:06I don't have pain. But you know, they had me
- 58:09scheduled and I was like, well, you should talk to your
- 58:12therapist and I go. If you truly don't believe you
- 58:15need it, I go because there's something keeping you there.
- 58:18So what is it emotional support? Is it, you know, that type of
- 58:23physical support that you don't think you can do this at home on
- 58:26your own? What?
- 58:28What is keeping you attached? That's a big, that's a big
- 58:32subject right there because there are many, many patients,
- 58:36clients that feel, I want to say an emotional attachment.
- 58:41It's like AI guess having a crutch maybe.
- 58:45And they feel like they don't want to let go of that, that
- 58:48connection, that bond. And and you know, we do, we are
- 58:50in a, in a field of making people feel better and it's,
- 58:54it's they, they like that. So I I guess, yeah, there can be
- 58:57that emotional attachment for some people, or some people are
- 59:01like, Saenara, I'm out of here. You have tortured me enough.
- 59:06I'm at. That you want to do 6 sessions
- 59:09on me? Why so many?
- 59:10So, you know, there's so many different personalities out
- 59:12there. Yeah, yeah, I, I agree with
- 59:15that. Like, I know that when I had to
- 59:17work on my neuromas, it was painful.
- 59:19I dreaded I love you, but I dread.
- 59:22I was like, yeah, I'm in so much pain, I need to do this.
- 59:25Kind of like going to the dentist.
- 59:26It's like I don't want this pain.
- 59:28Hey don't don't compare me to the dentist.
- 59:32I hate dentist. Sorry guys if we're dentist.
- 59:35I'm sorry. We are not dentists.
- 59:38We're in the fashion of yes, you, you will feel a little
- 59:41physical pain at times, but I always tell them there's good
- 59:44pain and there's bad pain, so. Dentist is bad pain.
- 59:48Yes. Well, kind of yes and no.
- 59:51Poor people are on dentist like. Hey, yeah, exactly, of course.
- 59:55That's trauma from the 70s dentistries.
- 59:59Same here, I'm traumatized because I had so many cavities
- 1:00:02as a kid but we. Digress.
- 1:00:06Cavities. No Novocaine, It's just, well,
- 1:00:10that's another show. That's another emotional show.
- 1:00:13But OK. So now we're talking about other
- 1:00:15different doctors or professions.
- 1:00:18So do you see the same as like, And I'm Privy to it because I
- 1:00:24could take my blood pressure at my house and it's always like
- 1:00:27117 / 72. Like it's, it's decent.
- 1:00:32I get there. It's like 125 / 80.
- 1:00:35I'm like, OK, that's white coat. That's called white coat
- 1:00:38something. Yeah, that white coat syndrome.
- 1:00:41Yeah, you're right. And there are.
- 1:00:44Absolutely. Because there's such a stigma
- 1:00:46like the old PT was, you know, no pain, no gain.
- 1:00:49And I've even had ex military come in and say to my face, no
- 1:00:53pain, no gain. And I'm like, well, yeah, but no
- 1:00:56pain is good. But pain can be a guide as to
- 1:01:00are we doing something right or are we doing something wrong?
- 1:01:02There's bad pain and good pain. So yes, you're right about that.
- 1:01:06I love that and I'd love to see because I, I can't even imagine
- 1:01:10the reconstruction, especially from the burnt like the, the
- 1:01:13bomb burns of the face or the body.
- 1:01:17I think, and I'm going to make you the giggle here, but
- 1:01:21something I remember as a child, I was, I think I had to be in
- 1:01:278th or 9th grade. I was a candy striper and my mom
- 1:01:30was, I think she was hell bent on me to be like this physical
- 1:01:33therapist because somehow in candy striping I always found
- 1:01:36myself in the PT department. The worst cries that I ever
- 1:01:41heard were from the burn. The burn side.
- 1:01:43Yeah. And I looked at my mom, I go, I,
- 1:01:48I'm not sure I could do that. I, I'm not.
- 1:01:51And the guy who was there, his name was Fozna and we call him
- 1:01:54Fozzie. And he went to school with my
- 1:01:57brother. And so it was kind of like being
- 1:02:00able to associate somebody doing a job.
- 1:02:03But as a child, I remembered that, and I remembered the
- 1:02:07horror. And I remember like going, God,
- 1:02:12God love the people who knows that it has to be done and
- 1:02:18understand that that empathy has to stay aside and that that's
- 1:02:22hard. I think that's very difficult,
- 1:02:26especially somebody who is so multi with modality healer like
- 1:02:31yourself. Do you feel that way with some
- 1:02:34stuff like that or how do you how do you remove yourself from
- 1:02:38stuff like that? By not going into the burn unit
- 1:02:41area. I, I, so when I first came out
- 1:02:46in the field in 94 and I worked in, in a rehab center, physical
- 1:02:50rehabilitation center, I worked on spinal cord injuries,
- 1:02:53amputees, burn victims. We did it all back then as
- 1:02:57physical therapists. Now you kind of have more
- 1:02:59specialties just like I think medicine as well doctors.
- 1:03:03So now you have therapists who work strictly with burns,
- 1:03:06therapists who work strictly with brain injuries or whatnot.
- 1:03:09And that's how I can't. There's no way.
- 1:03:12I did it for a very short, I did it for one year and we had a
- 1:03:15lineman, for instance, who was electrocuted and it went through
- 1:03:19both hands and through the, the head and face.
- 1:03:22And it was not pleasant for obviously the patient.
- 1:03:26But I, I realized very quickly it was an area of therapy that
- 1:03:30he did not want to go into. It takes somebody extremely
- 1:03:34special to do that work. It really does.
- 1:03:37It's just the caring and the love and the healing that they
- 1:03:40can give without the that is that's an incredible task.
- 1:03:46There is a point where you have to learn how to sort of block
- 1:03:49that because I'm very empathic and I, I sometimes when a
- 1:03:53patient is, you know, expressing their pain and, and they're
- 1:03:57crying or I sometimes get hit with that cord and I have to put
- 1:04:00a block up. It's very important for me to do
- 1:04:03that. Those diamonds, they always want
- 1:04:05to come those diamonds, but that is, I mean, how can you not feel
- 1:04:13empathy for that pain that that is, that is a lot of pain that
- 1:04:19and I'm just talking because I'm here on MBR, but I understand
- 1:04:22there's more first responders, especially my firefighter
- 1:04:25friends who are first responders the the police who go in those
- 1:04:29burning buildings. My God, I I like my heart when I
- 1:04:35see. And, you know, even when I burn
- 1:04:38a little blister on my own finger, you know, I'm thinking
- 1:04:40I'm dying, hurt my finger. Can you?
- 1:04:45I just. I can't even imagine being
- 1:04:49tortured by at the stake when they would burn people at the
- 1:04:52stake. I can't.
- 1:04:54That has to be the most horrific death because you burn from the
- 1:04:58insides as well. And it.
- 1:05:00It is. Yeah, I didn't mean to bring
- 1:05:03that in. That's a that's depressing.
- 1:05:05But I I can't. And I know that's part of
- 1:05:08physical therapy and OT. Yeah.
- 1:05:10And nursing. Yeah.
- 1:05:12Because doesn't the skin or something have to What is it
- 1:05:16the, the the collagen? Is it the collagen in the skin
- 1:05:19that makes it elasticity? Yeah.
- 1:05:21And it just depends on how deep the burns are, what, what level
- 1:05:24are they at, you know, And when you get all the way down to the
- 1:05:27meat underneath your muscle, your fascia, the nerve endings,
- 1:05:31everything suffers and it's very painful.
- 1:05:34And yeah, so they do get a lot of scar tissue with burns.
- 1:05:37And there's a whole other world and realm.
- 1:05:39Medically they can release the fascia and all that, but it's
- 1:05:41it's so it's very complicated and painful.
- 1:05:45For our brothers. And so we're going to we're
- 1:05:47going to step away from the burn unit.
- 1:05:49I want to go to the amputees. So can you describe for the
- 1:05:54viewers who are either the amputees who haven't gone into
- 1:05:58PT yet or those who are caregivers to people who are
- 1:06:02empty TS? How, what's the process to go
- 1:06:07into physical therapy to get them up on those prosthetics?
- 1:06:10How how far do they have to heal surgically?
- 1:06:14Like what is the prep for that if any?
- 1:06:18So MJ, you're asking me a question in a field that I
- 1:06:22really don't work in any anymore.
- 1:06:24I mean, it was like 30 years ago that I did that.
- 1:06:27But there is a process that they have to go through with just
- 1:06:29healing the surgery. First of all, that's first and
- 1:06:32foremost that that incision has got to heal before they can
- 1:06:36actually start putting weight through.
- 1:06:39You know, I'll have to refer you to one of my friends who does
- 1:06:42work in that run. No, I'm sorry.
- 1:06:43I thought when we talked about it, you could give a dynamic for
- 1:06:47some of these veterans who are going through the process I was
- 1:06:50just in. 30 years, 30 years that I worked on it.
- 1:06:53So sorry, no. And I, I mean, there's always
- 1:06:56information out there for, for people definitely, you know, but
- 1:07:00it is a process. It takes many, many months to
- 1:07:03eventually get on a prosthetic and start moving.
- 1:07:05It is possible though. There's people that run
- 1:07:07marathons and whatnot with these prosthetics, so it's pretty
- 1:07:10amazing what they've come to now.
- 1:07:12Absolutely. But like you said, the reason I
- 1:07:14was bringing it up is because I'm sure there's something that
- 1:07:17because, and I just know from coming in and out of
- 1:07:20wheelchairs, I have to condition my own body how to go forward,
- 1:07:26not having parts and pieces that I normally would.
- 1:07:29So it's reconditioning the muscle movements or
- 1:07:32reconditioning the mind into being able to keep moving
- 1:07:36forward. And that's kind of where I was
- 1:07:38going to go with it because the mind, I believe controls all
- 1:07:42throughout healing. And there's, there's.
- 1:07:46I mean, even even if we're talking about like burns, breast
- 1:07:50cancer survivors, they go through, I mean, I have some
- 1:07:53that have like 3536 radiation sessions that's, it's charred,
- 1:07:57there's blisters, there's, I mean, it's a horrific, horrific
- 1:08:01thing to see, but it's horrific for the clients to go through.
- 1:08:05So, and then the loss of the of the breasts as well, you know,
- 1:08:09like an amputee, they go through that phantom limb, that grieving
- 1:08:12process of losing something that was theirs.
- 1:08:14I had a patient that get. Pain.
- 1:08:16I still get those phantom pains every once in a while.
- 1:08:19And I'm, I mean, I'm 2010 so I'm 15 years out.
- 1:08:24Is that still plausible? Very much so.
- 1:08:27Yeah, How does that go away if it's Phantom?
- 1:08:30I don't know that it necessarily does.
- 1:08:32I mean, I had a patient the other day that was telling me
- 1:08:35she's probably about 14 years out of her mastectomy.
- 1:08:39And she says when she gets cold and not to get into detail, but
- 1:08:41she says she still feels her, her, her nipple, but there's no,
- 1:08:45there's no breast and she feels it.
- 1:08:47So it's, you know, 14 years out. I, I don't know if that ever
- 1:08:51goes away. For some people.
- 1:08:53I, I imagine it does. And for a few that are that are
- 1:08:55a little bit more on the sensitive side maybe, maybe it's
- 1:08:58stays with them forever. I think everything with the joke
- 1:09:01within because I I have to, I have to find a way to laugh.
- 1:09:06I have to find a way to smile through it.
- 1:09:09So up here in Pennsylvania, that was a commie.
- 1:09:11It's funny you said that because I go, babe, I'm so cold.
- 1:09:14My nipples are hard. And he'll go, I see that.
- 1:09:21Let's go inside. Like he'll just he'll just play,
- 1:09:24you know? And it basically I lost is what
- 1:09:26it is, right? Because yeah, there's.
- 1:09:29But when she. Told me that I was like, wow,
- 1:09:30this is crazy. You know, all these years later,
- 1:09:33and I mean, how many years has it been for you?
- 1:09:36About 15 now, OK. Well, there you go.
- 1:09:38I had a 2000 and September 2009 is when they removed it and put
- 1:09:44the bracers in and by 2011 I was completely I was done with the
- 1:09:52reconstruction side, but 2012 they had to do OK.
- 1:10:00When they say that we're going to what's the word that you I
- 1:10:05have to think of it. They use the word, but it's
- 1:10:07basically lip destruction shape. That's they're going to shape
- 1:10:11it. That was 2012.
- 1:10:13They're just we're just going to shape it now.
- 1:10:15Not to worry not that hurt worse I think than the whole just
- 1:10:19removing of the breast and I was like never again.
- 1:10:23I don't know who does stuff like this, but I can't do it.
- 1:10:26I can't. I can't.
- 1:10:28I've had patients tell me that that the reconstructive part
- 1:10:31afterwards gave them more pain than the actual initial surgery
- 1:10:35and trauma of the removal of the breast and the breast tissue.
- 1:10:38I did. I didn't even put my nipples on
- 1:10:40for 10 years. Yep.
- 1:10:42I've so I've only been with nipple on the on the mastectomy
- 1:10:46for about 5 years and I just, it was like I could never
- 1:10:52understand it. In fact, I went through a lot of
- 1:10:54emotion because I would see women who would get breast lifts
- 1:10:57not an issue. There's no and I'm thinking to
- 1:10:59myself, why would you do that? Why would you manipulate?
- 1:11:04Like I'm thinking of the pain that I am in and I'm thinking
- 1:11:08these people and the one girl I was going through it, I
- 1:11:10literally had bars in my chest. And this waitress, I'll never
- 1:11:15forget her, came over in Homestead.
- 1:11:17She and she goes, Oh my God, you're so lucky.
- 1:11:19She goes I, I go tomorrow, she goes to get my money makers.
- 1:11:24Wow. Talk about perspective, right?
- 1:11:28And I'm like, I literally had to drop my head and I like, I
- 1:11:32really, I had to breathe because I wanted to punch her.
- 1:11:38I was full of anger. And I was like, where's this
- 1:11:40anger coming from? Why do I have someone who gives
- 1:11:43a shit if she wants that? And I would talk to, of course,
- 1:11:46Ozzy. And he goes, yeah, you're really
- 1:11:48getting bent out of shape for something that women do all the
- 1:11:50time. I'm like, I know.
- 1:11:52Why am I doing this? Well, you, you come.
- 1:11:56From a very different perspective, like yours was a
- 1:11:58survival, you know, a survival surgery.
- 1:12:00You had to do this for survival. Your life depended on it when
- 1:12:05you did the mastectomy and all that, you know the initiation.
- 1:12:08So it's. Different perspectives.
- 1:12:11Yeah, I know it caused me a lot of emotional like it.
- 1:12:14It really it was one of those things I think that took me
- 1:12:17quite a long time to even just want to talk about it.
- 1:12:21Like I think is when I actually did the nipples.
- 1:12:24I went all around college square going look, look, look what man
- 1:12:28gave me. Look what man did.
- 1:12:34I had a patient who went in and did the reconstruction just
- 1:12:37about, I don't know, two months ago.
- 1:12:38And she came in and she was so proud to show me the work that
- 1:12:41was done. I mean, some of these women go
- 1:12:44without breast tissue for five years or more, and then they
- 1:12:47have the reconstruction done and they feel like, you know, women
- 1:12:50again, so different. It's very different.
- 1:12:53Yeah. Even with the pain and the
- 1:12:55trauma, but you know. Right.
- 1:12:57But it's it's really. So let's, since we're talking
- 1:13:00about it, how important because obviously I had to learn the
- 1:13:03hard way. the VA never did the physical therapy afterwards.
- 1:13:07How important is that in reality for the the the perfect outcome
- 1:13:12is how I want to say it. You know, in a perfect world,
- 1:13:16what I would do is I would want to see the patient before they
- 1:13:18have the surgery so I can take measurements and see where their
- 1:13:21baselines are. That's the perfect world.
- 1:13:23One visit before and then go through the surgery, the
- 1:13:27radiation, the chemo, whatever. But I think every woman should
- 1:13:30be referred to physical therapy or at least a lymphedema
- 1:13:33therapist to do an assessment 1st.
- 1:13:36And then if we we see that OK there everything is fine.
- 1:13:39We do a few sessions, we release you, discharge you, but at least
- 1:13:41we can educate the patient on what are the signs and symptoms
- 1:13:46of things may be getting worse. Is your shoulder freezing up
- 1:13:49now? Are you not able to reach up
- 1:13:51where you were before? Are you noticing swelling in
- 1:13:53your hand or in the breasts for lymphedema purposes?
- 1:13:57I mean, at least if we could get you guys in and educate
- 1:14:00patients, I think it would make give them a sense of control, of
- 1:14:04control over what you know, what has happened to them and educate
- 1:14:08them. I think education is number one
- 1:14:10that really helps people feel like they have better control of
- 1:14:13their situation. But I think everybody should go
- 1:14:15through and have at least an assessment after surgery.
- 1:14:19So I'm glad we're talking about this because a lot of people
- 1:14:23don't know what lip edema is. Can you explain that?
- 1:14:26Lymphedema, there's two things, lipedema and lymphedema.
- 1:14:29So lymphedema when a, let's just go back to breast cancer, but it
- 1:14:33can apply to head and neck cancers as well.
- 1:14:36When there's let's go ahead and neck cancer, when you have a, an
- 1:14:39incision from ear to ear to pull out lymph nodes that are
- 1:14:43potentially cancerous, then they close you up.
- 1:14:46You have the scar tissue that cuts through your lymphatic
- 1:14:49channels. So your lymph system can't,
- 1:14:54can't mobilize the fluid from here to here as well.
- 1:14:57Then you throw in 30 radiation sessions where you burn the skin
- 1:15:01and the tissues underneath your nerve endings, your vasculature.
- 1:15:05Sometimes that also now compromises your lymphatics
- 1:15:09because it cannot move the fluid from 1 area to the other.
- 1:15:12They start to notice swelling in the face, maybe the tongue, the
- 1:15:16mouth. And so that's where we come in
- 1:15:19and we teach the patient about how to care and manage that
- 1:15:22stuff. But it's basically there's
- 1:15:24something in the lymphatic system that's compromised,
- 1:15:27whether it's surgery, radiation, lymph nodes that have been
- 1:15:30removed. And that's where we kind of come
- 1:15:31into play. I even I've, I've dealt with,
- 1:15:34you know, unfortunately for the patient, genital lymphedema, leg
- 1:15:38lymphedema, arm, trunk, head and neck.
- 1:15:41It's been from, you know, basically head to toe.
- 1:15:49Oh. Where's MJH?
- 1:16:05I you're pulling a Houdini on me.
- 1:16:10You disappeared. I was like everything in the
- 1:16:14everything just like blanked out.
- 1:16:16It was kind of like, oh, solar flares possibly.
- 1:16:21Like, Oh no, you did not just do this to me.
- 1:16:25I didn't know if I was still on. I didn't know if I should talk
- 1:16:27and become the the DJ, the host or what.
- 1:16:31Yeah. So.
- 1:16:33I think that was a thing going MJ need to break, so I got to
- 1:16:36take another break by station rules.
- 1:16:39So we're going to we're talking with Jemma Lopez and we are
- 1:16:43talking about physical therapy, about how we heal and the
- 1:16:47modalities that can go all together right here on MB radio
- 1:16:51dot US. My name is MJ, and this is my
- 1:16:54show on the radio station, and it is called the world of
- 1:16:57conscious Positive Thinking so that we can get you to feeling
- 1:17:01where you are, to feeling as light and positive as possible
- 1:17:05and flip those patterns, whether it's physical, mental,
- 1:17:08emotional, body, mind, and soul. So we're going to go to another
- 1:17:12favorite because I know that Miss Kim is listening and she
- 1:17:16loves this song too. It's called third class.
- 1:17:18It's called Into the Light. Just stepping into the
- 1:17:21positivity of light and love. And that's what this song's
- 1:17:23about. So stay tuned folks.
- 1:17:25We'll be right back with my solar flares.
- 1:20:35The station where our veterans voices are heard.
- 1:20:38MBR talk. Hey thanks for tuning.
- 1:20:43In welcome are those of the speakers and do not necessarily
- 1:20:48reflect the views or positions of any entities they represent.
- 1:20:52The web at MB radio dot. Hey, we're walking into the
- 1:20:57light here with JAMA Lopez. She is one of my fave healers of
- 1:21:03my own body. And so if you are in that area,
- 1:21:07please reach out. We're going to get all of her
- 1:21:09information up on our screen underneath this podcast.
- 1:21:14So that whether you go on Twitch, whether you go on Roku,
- 1:21:19Fire Stick, wherever you're going to go, Spotify, all her
- 1:21:23information and contact information, we will be setting
- 1:21:26up under those so that it's an easier click and play for you
- 1:21:29all. So before we were talking about
- 1:21:33lipedema, right, lymphedema, lymphedema.
- 1:21:37Yeah, OK. There is a lipedema that I also
- 1:21:39treat, but it's different than. Lymphedema So now you are
- 1:21:44talking about the swelling of the lymph nodes.
- 1:21:46So before I had my breasts done, medical miracle Mary Jo is they
- 1:21:50took out my cervix, my uterus, my fallopian.
- 1:21:54They took everything out down there.
- 1:21:56And then I started realizing that in excessive walks or
- 1:22:02excessive sitting, I started having swelling in my lower
- 1:22:05extremities. Is that all part of that Gemma?
- 1:22:10Because I didn't have it? Probably, I was going to say
- 1:22:13it's probably signs and symptoms that something is not kosher and
- 1:22:18it needs to be checked out. So yeah, it doesn't always.
- 1:22:23So I have had patients in with swollen lymph nodes, but within
- 1:22:26a week it resolves. So it's also.
- 1:22:28Looking at my feet like I'll get swollen feet, swollen ankles.
- 1:22:31Just swelling in general. I thought you meant lymph nodes.
- 1:22:34OK, so you were getting. Nodes that I'm aware of, but it
- 1:22:38is, but it's ever since I've had that surgery, I I that becomes
- 1:22:44like sitting too much, standing too much walking too much, like
- 1:22:48all of the and they'll just start to swell.
- 1:22:51So that could be related to. So lymphedema doesn't
- 1:22:55necessarily mean it has to be related to cancer, right?
- 1:22:57It also can be associated with vascular system.
- 1:23:02So as our vascular system sort of ages, right, it's a nice way
- 1:23:07to say it, our lymphatic system can also age and it doesn't
- 1:23:11function as well. It tries to, you know,
- 1:23:13complement the, the deficiencies in your blood flowing.
- 1:23:17So it tries to overcompensate, but then you end up with the
- 1:23:20lymphatics getting tired and now you end up with the feet
- 1:23:23starting to swell, the lower leg swelling.
- 1:23:26But it could be related more to just the vasculature kind of not
- 1:23:29functioning at 100% anymore rather than the history of
- 1:23:33cancer. All right, I was only 32 years
- 1:23:36old and I remember after healing and getting out of the
- 1:23:40wheelchairs because obviously I'm a double complication here,
- 1:23:43but that's when I started realizing that swelling.
- 1:23:47But when I would, you know, I'd Reiki it and then I'd put my
- 1:23:51feet up. I'd I'd pack them and then it
- 1:23:54would go away and I wouldn't have another issue because I am
- 1:23:56not somebody who either sits like I'm never a prolong sitter
- 1:24:00prolong stand. I'm just not I get up and move
- 1:24:04and it doesn't really happen unless I'm on long road trips.
- 1:24:07Now I find it when I'm on long road trips.
- 1:24:09I find it my hiking boots when I when I tie them tight, I don't I
- 1:24:14don't really see, I see it more in my, my calves and my shins.
- 1:24:17So I'm just curious. It wasn't, it was an anomaly
- 1:24:21because they knew that it was seeded with cancer cells, but it
- 1:24:25hadn't like it was almost like a preventative, right?
- 1:24:29I'm going to say that because I didn't need chemo, I didn't
- 1:24:34need, I didn't need anything. They gave me something called
- 1:24:38Xeloda and they just removed everything.
- 1:24:40So I'm like, even if you don't have an oncology issue that
- 1:24:46there still could be these, these problems with these
- 1:24:48surgeries. That's 100%.
- 1:24:51Yes, yes, absolutely. And surgery can contribute to
- 1:24:56the dysfunction of your lymphatic system too.
- 1:24:59But keep in mind your lymphatic system is part of your immune
- 1:25:02system and we can have blockages in our immune system, so in our
- 1:25:07lymphatic system. So then in that case you can go
- 1:25:11see a massage therapist who is a licensed lymphatic.
- 1:25:16I don't want to say like they're certified to do lymphatic
- 1:25:21massage on a healthy system. So that would be 1 alternative
- 1:25:25to to go get a lymphatic massage by a licensed massage therapist
- 1:25:29to help. You know, so if we don't know
- 1:25:31the reason, would it be better to come to a licensed physical
- 1:25:34therapist practitioner for them to advise them to go to
- 1:25:38somebody? You're good to see a certified
- 1:25:41lymphedema therapist. So anybody that has ACLT behind
- 1:25:45their name, that means they've done the rigorous training and
- 1:25:48it is a lot of training, let me tell you.
- 1:25:50So it can be an occupational therapy, a physical therapist, a
- 1:25:53speech therapist, and even like in some class therapy and have
- 1:25:57that PLT behind it. So as long as they have that,
- 1:26:01you can go get an assessment. But if something really concerns
- 1:26:05you and you're not on top of that, you're feeling fatigued,
- 1:26:08you're feeling pain, you're, I mean, so many other symptoms, I
- 1:26:12would go see your medical or doctor at that point.
- 1:26:16Done one or two lymphatic massages and still not feeling
- 1:26:19progress right? But does that ever go away?
- 1:26:23Or is it something that just constantly has to be drained?
- 1:26:27If it is a compromised lymphatic system, it's probably something
- 1:26:31that you're going to have to manage and keep from progressing
- 1:26:34'cause there are stages of lymphedema.
- 1:26:37And if you don't stay in that stage one phase where like you
- 1:26:40say, you go to bed or you raise up your legs, your legs the next
- 1:26:43morning look great. That would be considered, you
- 1:26:45know, stage one, you're in the early stages.
- 1:26:48But if you go to bed and your feet still wake up swollen, then
- 1:26:52you've now progressed into stage 2.
- 1:26:55So then you can use compression socks, elevate your legs, use a
- 1:26:59pump, get lymphatic massages. But there's got to be a reason
- 1:27:02behind why it's happening. Something's something's causing
- 1:27:05the dysfunction. Is it more like a blockage or
- 1:27:08more like it's too thin now with the surgeries it can't get
- 1:27:11through, I mean. All the above.
- 1:27:14All the above. Genetic is is it plausible it
- 1:27:18could be a genetic thing at a certain.
- 1:27:20Age. So there is something we call
- 1:27:22primary lymphedema and some kids are born with it and you can see
- 1:27:26that there's an obvious difference between 1 limb size
- 1:27:29and the other. Or it's something that after,
- 1:27:31let's say you hit your, your menstruation cycle starts.
- 1:27:35It can start then or it's something that can be in the
- 1:27:3730s, something in the 30s as well.
- 1:27:39But yes, it would be considered that they have to differentiate
- 1:27:42if it's primary or secondary lymphedema.
- 1:27:44Secondary lymphedema can also come from trauma, by the way.
- 1:27:47If you have like a knee surgery or you've been, you know, in war
- 1:27:52and you suffered some injury to the leg, you can develop
- 1:27:56secondary lymphedema from that as well.
- 1:27:59It's a big, it's a big umbrella of things that people are not
- 1:28:02aware of. Wow, and now what's the
- 1:28:04difference between the two? Between primary and secondary.
- 1:28:08No lymphedema and lymphedema. So lymphedema has to do with the
- 1:28:12lymphatic system. Lipedema is an abnormal fat
- 1:28:16adipose cells, your fat cells, they grow abnormally and they
- 1:28:20cause deposits in your hips, your thighs, your buttocks, your
- 1:28:23belly. It affects mostly women more
- 1:28:27than men and it can just be in certain area of that hip and
- 1:28:31thigh region or it can go all the way down to the ankles.
- 1:28:34It can also affect some women's arms as well.
- 1:28:37But it's people that you'll see these sort of, we call them
- 1:28:41lobular growths, but they look like there's just this big
- 1:28:45deposit of fat in one area. But it's actually an, an
- 1:28:48abnormality in the body and it has to be diagnosed.
- 1:28:51You know, it has to be diagnosed.
- 1:28:52But there's a lot of people walking around with it.
- 1:28:54I'll see them in the grocery stores and I'm like, oh, that
- 1:28:56person has lipedema. They have no clue.
- 1:28:59I've even diagnosed patients that were in my office that
- 1:29:02didn't know that they had it and then referred them out.
- 1:29:05Now does the skin dimple like a Cellulite?
- 1:29:08Yes, and you'll feel little kind of grains of sand underneath the
- 1:29:12skin or little nodules, bumps, lumps.
- 1:29:15They're usually painful. You'll notice that they get
- 1:29:18bruising very easily, these people as well.
- 1:29:22And then sometimes it can come with lymphedema as a secondary
- 1:29:25result of having lipedema for so long.
- 1:29:28It stresses the lymphatic system out.
- 1:29:29So then you can be somebody who's combined has them both.
- 1:29:33Do you know of anybody who has completely cured their body of
- 1:29:36it? With help, obviously.
- 1:29:41If they are in the early stages, yes, I think the longer people
- 1:29:46go without being diagnosed and treated, the more difficult it
- 1:29:50is to see them go back a stage or two.
- 1:29:55Got you. And how I mean, it could be such
- 1:29:57severe that they can't even walk on the legs.
- 1:30:00I've seen them. Yeah, it's very.
- 1:30:03Painful. I have patients when I was at
- 1:30:06the university that were in, they were wheelchair bound.
- 1:30:09You know, it feels, just imagine putting a backpack of, you know,
- 1:30:1230 or 40 lbs on each leg or sometimes more and carrying that
- 1:30:16throughout your day and over the years getting worse.
- 1:30:20And if you're not seeing the right practitioner, definitely
- 1:30:24getting worse. And then it just progresses to
- 1:30:26the point where people are in wheelchairs.
- 1:30:28Is it? Can it be genetic Gemma?
- 1:30:32Yes. So that that would be the
- 1:30:33primary lymphedema that they're either born with or well,
- 1:30:36everybody's born with it. If you have primary lymphedema,
- 1:30:39it's just what stage of your life does it start to manifest?
- 1:30:43Got you. And how do they detect it?
- 1:30:46Like what would be one of the first signs that somebody could
- 1:30:48say, let me just go get tested or how how would they go get
- 1:30:51tested? Most of the time people say, Oh,
- 1:30:55my feet and my legs are swelling and they feel heavy and they
- 1:30:58don't really do anything. And surprisingly, they'll go to
- 1:31:01their cardiologist and the cardiologist checks the heart
- 1:31:04and everything looks good. They do the the ultrasounds of
- 1:31:07the legs and the venous system looks good too.
- 1:31:10And then so it also comes to the point where the practitioners
- 1:31:13are not necessarily educated and know that these patients can be
- 1:31:18referred out to physical therapists or therapists like
- 1:31:20myself or certified. And then the sooner we can treat
- 1:31:24them and educate them on how to care for it, the better the
- 1:31:27outcome is going to be for them and their quality of life and
- 1:31:29bruise. But many times it comes down to
- 1:31:32multiple doctors missing the diagnosis.
- 1:31:36Even so, if the doctors can't even diagnose, how are the
- 1:31:39patients going to do it? Many of them look online, start
- 1:31:42Googling Dr. Google, which is not recommended.
- 1:31:45And they'll come to me and they'll call me and say I think
- 1:31:48I have lymphedema. So they'll come in for an
- 1:31:50assessment and then I'm like, yeah, it looks like you have the
- 1:31:53swelling, you have pitting edema, which is I'll put my
- 1:31:56thumb into the leg and the the imprint of my thumb stays.
- 1:32:00So they have a thickening of the skin sometimes because the
- 1:32:03fluid's been sitting there so long.
- 1:32:06Dry skin, thick skin, you know, a lot of things that we look
- 1:32:10for. And then that's when I make the
- 1:32:12the referrals out. We have, we had a great doctor
- 1:32:14at the University of Miami that did surgeries for these
- 1:32:17patients. I think he already left though,
- 1:32:20and he moved up to Virginia area.
- 1:32:21But they're they're around, the lymphatic specialists are
- 1:32:24around. So you can always look to them
- 1:32:26for an assessment. So they could actually have a
- 1:32:29surgery to rectify that. They're in the process of trying
- 1:32:33to undo the damage to the lymphatic structures.
- 1:32:38So what they're doing now is they're taking these lymphatic
- 1:32:42vessels and they're connecting them to veins so that the
- 1:32:46drainage can occur. They're doing lymph node
- 1:32:49transplants. So my breast cancer patients,
- 1:32:52they take lymph nodes from either the supraclavicular or
- 1:32:55the inguinal, which is right by the groin.
- 1:32:57They transplant it into the armpit to help the arm drain as
- 1:33:01well. So there's a lot of things with
- 1:33:03that there's. Caused issues in those other
- 1:33:05areas then if they had it once. Nope.
- 1:33:08They're only moving like 2-2 to three lymph nodes, if that.
- 1:33:13Yeah. And then they do what they call
- 1:33:15the bypass. They'll attach the the lymphatic
- 1:33:17structure to the veins to also help with the drainage.
- 1:33:20I mean, I've seen it and it typically right now they're
- 1:33:23doing it mostly in the arms. That's where they're having the
- 1:33:25most success with it. And I've worked with these
- 1:33:28patients who are post op and seen them through and my
- 1:33:31goodness, what a difference. Wow, Yeah, that's amazing.
- 1:33:35That's so. Amazing.
- 1:33:36It it's it's crazy. Science is crazy.
- 1:33:38You know, we're only starting to understand the lymphatics and
- 1:33:43they're starting to do more and more research now.
- 1:33:45Tony likes in. Chapter 20 or only in Chapter 1?
- 1:33:49It's just the beginning. They're going to come up with
- 1:33:51better things in the future. I know it.
- 1:33:53So for those who have it, just be patient, huh?
- 1:33:56I said that even sounds amazing that they can do stuff like
- 1:33:59that. No, but it is your eggplant.
- 1:34:03Yes, but it's very difficult. It's like a needle in a haystack
- 1:34:05to find people that do what I do with the CLT behind their name,
- 1:34:10and then to find that lymphatic specialist, the doctors who
- 1:34:12specialize in the stuff, It's very difficult, but you can go
- 1:34:17to the National Lymphedema Network and there you can find
- 1:34:20practitioners of all kinds, whether it's PTOT, speech.
- 1:34:25I don't think we'll try to spell that 'cause, you know, I'm
- 1:34:27horrific. But if you put it in the in the
- 1:34:29chat, Gemma, I will make sure that it's underneath there
- 1:34:33because that is really, really important.
- 1:34:35You see the people who walk around with their legs just
- 1:34:38completely inflamed or one arm inflamed, and you just just want
- 1:34:42to so badly, you know, get them to help them.
- 1:34:45There it is. Let me just kind of transfer
- 1:34:47this over and, well, I don't need all of that.
- 1:34:51Hello. So yeah.
- 1:34:54But it's definitely a good resource.
- 1:34:56And then there is also for those who think they, may they, they
- 1:34:59may be suffering from lipedema, I'm going to send you Lipedema
- 1:35:04Foundation. It's another great resource to
- 1:35:07look into. You can find practitioners you
- 1:35:09can find, just educate yourself on it.
- 1:35:13And again, it can be. I'm sorry, sorry.
- 1:35:16Yeah, I was going to say again, it can be from trauma.
- 1:35:18It doesn't necessarily mean it's just from, you know, cancerous
- 1:35:21diagnosis. It can be from physical trauma
- 1:35:24and accident, you know? Yeah.
- 1:35:27You can get wartime injuries. I mean, here you are that you
- 1:35:31know, you're you're destroyed the lymphatics, you know, not
- 1:35:35you. But personally, I'm just saying
- 1:35:37the injury in itself had can cause these types of issues
- 1:35:41going forward. Yes, right now what about into
- 1:35:45the brain? What about the brain?
- 1:35:49I said what about like the lymph nodes of the like I know you
- 1:35:53have like all these lymph nodes throughout here.
- 1:35:56So does the does the lipedema ever backlog into the brain?
- 1:36:02To where it causes the brain to swell.
- 1:36:05The great thing about anybody with head and neck issues that
- 1:36:08has lymphedema in this area, gravity is our friend in this
- 1:36:12case. Whereas if you have it in the
- 1:36:14leg, gravity is not your friend because you have to fight
- 1:36:16gravity to push that fluid up. But up here, if you have
- 1:36:19lymphedema here, gravity helps to just kind of pull all that
- 1:36:23fluid down. The the foe or the enemy is.
- 1:36:25When you go to sleep at night though, and you lay down flat,
- 1:36:28everything can backlog up, but it usually effects mostly the
- 1:36:32face, the tongue, the mouth, the internal structures of your
- 1:36:36throat, sometimes more so than the brain.
- 1:36:39But they science has found we have lymphatics in the brain.
- 1:36:42Anywhere you basically have blood flow, you're going to have
- 1:36:45lymphatics that can be compromised.
- 1:36:48There is a doctor that's doing some research on Alzheimer's and
- 1:36:52lymphatics. If there are blockages here,
- 1:36:55whether it's the narrowing of the lymphatics or mostly that's
- 1:36:59what they're looking at, they're attributing possibly that
- 1:37:03Alzheimer's and some of those cognitive decline diagnosis, you
- 1:37:07know, can be related to that. So they're getting surgeries to
- 1:37:11see if that can can help alleviate that situation.
- 1:37:15So what I was thinking is, is it plausible?
- 1:37:20Like my mom had bleeding in the brain and they actually had to
- 1:37:27do a craniolectomy, craniectomy or whatever they where they put
- 1:37:31the holes. To drain the brain.
- 1:37:32She have a sub girl. She have a subdural hematoma.
- 1:37:35Well, yeah, she was on blood thinners and she, she got like a
- 1:37:40little hit in the head. She didn't think anything of it.
- 1:37:43And then next thing you know, you know, 3 weeks later her
- 1:37:46brain was pushed like a teepee and there it was.
- 1:37:51And it was like the, and the trauma was like 3 weeks prior
- 1:37:54to. But I'm, I'm questioning if they
- 1:37:57could get blocked, would they have to do the same thing?
- 1:38:00I mean, if that's severe. No, usually that's just related
- 1:38:04to the blood. There's a build up of blood in
- 1:38:07the brain because of the hit, the fall and the hit.
- 1:38:10So it's what's they usually call a subdural hematoma and they do
- 1:38:14have to take a piece of the cranium off to relieve the
- 1:38:16pressure on the brain. And it typically manifests like
- 1:38:202 to three weeks after you start to see your loved one acting a
- 1:38:25little funny or, you know, cognitively they're not, they're
- 1:38:27not where they were three weeks ago.
- 1:38:29And then they'll diagnose them with that bleed to the brain and
- 1:38:32they it's just a matter of removing that blood that
- 1:38:36coagulates around there. And then they close everything
- 1:38:38back up and usually the function returns like they return to
- 1:38:41normal again, but it doesn't typically affect them that the.
- 1:38:44Swelling that we're talking about can happen going that
- 1:38:47reverse order. No, no, it wouldn't be from the
- 1:38:50lymphatics up typically that I know of.
- 1:38:54I've never seen that happen on anybody I or heard of it
- 1:38:57happening. Got you.
- 1:39:00Other than like the Alzheimer's stuff that they're starting to
- 1:39:02relate to potentially, but not because of a back flow, rather
- 1:39:05there's not enough flow getting to the brain.
- 1:39:09Makes sense? Yeah, it does.
- 1:39:12But having any type of those cognitive, functional, is
- 1:39:17therapy part of that, any type of physical therapy part of that
- 1:39:21to increase endorphins, increase flow, increase anything like
- 1:39:25that to help is, is there any knowledge of that?
- 1:39:28Not that I know of at the moment.
- 1:39:30Not to say in the future that that this won't be incorporated
- 1:39:33into their their therapy and their rehab, but at the moment
- 1:39:37no. But I think it feels.
- 1:39:39Such a new area of our field that it's there's not really a
- 1:39:43lot known about that yet. So my mom had to go back into
- 1:39:47physical therapy when she had it done, they, they, I mean, we had
- 1:39:50rehabilitation for probably about 30 days.
- 1:39:54We were in the rehabilitation center and every day in the
- 1:39:57physical therapy department. So do you do things like those
- 1:40:00as well or No, No, no, no, I didn't.
- 1:40:04I was just curious because that was swelling of the brain.
- 1:40:07And I'm thinking can that is it plausible and.
- 1:40:10I mean, I don't know until I ask, right?
- 1:40:12I don't know, it's OK. And like I, like I was saying
- 1:40:14before that our, our therapy world has now all these little
- 1:40:18specialties. So if I get a patient with some
- 1:40:21kind of complaint like that, I'll typically say, you know,
- 1:40:23you're going to be best in the hands of this therapist who
- 1:40:25specializes in that area. You know, when I first went out
- 1:40:29in the field 30 years ago, we did everything.
- 1:40:31We did wound care. I even did wound care when I
- 1:40:33first came out, where now we have wound care specialists who
- 1:40:36do all that stuff. So it's yeah, but I will know my
- 1:40:40limitations and I'll say, OK, I think you'll be best working
- 1:40:43with so and so, you know, therapist.
- 1:40:46And that's also a good thing to have a person that recognizes
- 1:40:49they have limitations, guys, you know?
- 1:40:52Yeah, yeah, everything has limitations.
- 1:40:55Has to, right? Yeah, not has to, but it's it's
- 1:41:00made to I think it's made to to plateau us in a realm where then
- 1:41:05we can become experts within the plateau.
- 1:41:08Right, right. The functions.
- 1:41:10Yeah, absolutely. So I don't, I don't know what I
- 1:41:15missed between the two because I know that people always ask
- 1:41:20about those two. I've actually treated somebody
- 1:41:24who had they had their uterus removed like I did that's why I
- 1:41:28was asking, but their their leg constantly is swollen on the one
- 1:41:32side. That's the lymphedema.
- 1:41:34Yes. OK, so this is the ones that she
- 1:41:39asked. I was actually treating her
- 1:41:41daughter who had four stage breast cancer and the mom was
- 1:41:47taking care of like her own family and her kids, like she
- 1:41:52was just running herself ragged and her leg was just getting
- 1:41:54bigger and bigger. I did tell her to come her.
- 1:41:56You know, I'm not going to tell your name online, but I did tell
- 1:41:58her to come to you. I'm hopefully she did, but I was
- 1:42:01treating her for a long time on the rife and she said that she
- 1:42:06has never seen her legs so small using the right frequency at I
- 1:42:12was like, well, that's good, but that doesn't mean and and I'm
- 1:42:15not a doctor and I'm not, I'm not making it sound like that,
- 1:42:20but I did tell her the same thing, which is you need to
- 1:42:23reach out to somebody else who can figure out how to maintain
- 1:42:27that. I'm not so sure what I'm doing
- 1:42:29is able to maintain that. I think it's a complement of
- 1:42:32both modalities, right, the energetics and the and then
- 1:42:36seeking the right physical somebody to to address the
- 1:42:40physical limitations or deficits as well.
- 1:42:43But I think it's nice to have both of that energetic world and
- 1:42:46physical world and and mold them together.
- 1:42:48So what you do is beautiful what I do.
- 1:42:51And then we can, you know, we've referred patients to one another
- 1:42:53before a client. So it's it's nice to have that.
- 1:42:57Yeah, that. Now it's really I just need a
- 1:42:59fingernail and and I don't even know now I don't even need
- 1:43:01fingernails now I just have these Halo stickers I just make
- 1:43:06I know make them and I can just stick them on.
- 1:43:09I go, but you can all stick them on.
- 1:43:12But I don't know, you know, I you're not gonna work unless you
- 1:43:15use them. So I think in all modalities.
- 1:43:18That's why I I'm just so in keen with you because it's the more
- 1:43:22modalities that you learn and different alternative healings
- 1:43:26and not just strictly Western medicine.
- 1:43:28Then I think that you have the body within itself, the mind,
- 1:43:32body, soul has a better way of healing and balancing to
- 1:43:35alignments. I preach that a lot, especially
- 1:43:39with psychologies. I'm like, psychology is great,
- 1:43:42but if you're going to the same psychologist for the last 10
- 1:43:44years, for the last the same thing, why don't we try a
- 1:43:49psychologist that does the metaphysical side to it or a
- 1:43:53deeper understanding that it's compacted with something else
- 1:43:56complicated? And I think that's how I think
- 1:43:58of you is when I think that, you know, when a body has so many
- 1:44:02other illnesses going off. And I can only speak for myself,
- 1:44:05you know, who do I seek? I seek multitude of of modality
- 1:44:09or multitude of somebody who can actually help in understanding
- 1:44:14everything that is, you know, it's not just one, it's we're
- 1:44:18all part of something else, something bigger.
- 1:44:21So I agree with that, that statement 100% because I do see
- 1:44:26the the mind, body, spirit connection and the patients that
- 1:44:30I see. I mean, it just, it just is what
- 1:44:32it is. There is an energetic emotional
- 1:44:34connection to many of the injuries that I come across and
- 1:44:37I've only really fine-tuned picking that up in the last
- 1:44:41probably 3 or 4 years, maybe five years, let's say.
- 1:44:45Where I see that connection we talked about earlier between
- 1:44:47emotional trauma and physical manifestation.
- 1:44:50You know, the patients that I see have gone through a loss of
- 1:44:53a husband, a spouse, a child, a parent, a major move across one
- 1:44:57country to another. I mean, so many things.
- 1:44:59When you really get down to the nitty gritty, you realize they
- 1:45:02need to have a therapy to deal with that stuff as well as
- 1:45:06physical therapy in combination. So it's nice to have a little
- 1:45:10bit of both at in my toolbox that I can access.
- 1:45:14But then I do have limitations to sometimes and referrals are
- 1:45:18necessary when I can't, when I can't, when that patient
- 1:45:21plateaus. Absolutely.
- 1:45:23And I just think it's like I always tell people it's time to
- 1:45:26move on because I've, I've, I've hit my plateau of what I can do
- 1:45:30with my expertise and it's, it's now just time.
- 1:45:33And it's not that I don't love you.
- 1:45:34And the patients get, they get emotional when you tell them
- 1:45:40it's like, I do want to see you, but I don't think it's worthy to
- 1:45:45increase your potential because I've reached my limits to where
- 1:45:50I, I need and where I, I know. And I was like, but it doesn't
- 1:45:54mean that we can't, you know, call me and, you know, text me.
- 1:45:57I just don't want to sit here taking your money when I know
- 1:46:00that I'm not, I'm not helping you, You know, maybe a mental
- 1:46:04clarity or that compassion of somebody who loves me because
- 1:46:08you love me. Then it's just to use to be
- 1:46:12there. But I think there's more to it.
- 1:46:14And and that's where I believe that it having me having friends
- 1:46:19like Gemma is so beneficial in my life.
- 1:46:23And, and it makes me feel just comfort.
- 1:46:27It makes, it's kind of like having that battle buddy, we
- 1:46:31call him, you know, and knowing, right?
- 1:46:35Knowing when we're having this instance or we have PTSD
- 1:46:40triggers or we have some other type of trigger we can call
- 1:46:44right. People in Alcoholics Anonymous
- 1:46:46have that trigger. Well, Gemma is that for me with
- 1:46:49my health because if you know me, I don't like big pharma I, I
- 1:46:53stay away from I love Western medicine and the fact that it
- 1:46:56diagnosis me and then I get to choose how I want to heal it.
- 1:47:00I get to choose if I want to use Eastern medicine.
- 1:47:03If I want to use alternative, I want to use holistics or some
- 1:47:07other modality that's in the other categories and I get to do
- 1:47:11that. And that is what I love.
- 1:47:13And I love that there's so many modalities that Gemma can
- 1:47:16actually help. And all she got to do is call or
- 1:47:19make an appointment. And that's the easiest thing in
- 1:47:21the world is call or make an appointment.
- 1:47:23And then you have all that information at your fingertips.
- 1:47:27So with that being said, it is quarter to the hour.
- 1:47:29I got to take another quick break and then we'll wrap it up
- 1:47:32and we're going to give Gemma the last 10 minutes to talk
- 1:47:37about her and what maybe I have missed in my questioning and
- 1:47:40what I wanted to know. And if you all have any
- 1:47:43questions out there, put them in the put them in the text or the
- 1:47:45feeds that you see on on all these.
- 1:47:47There's umpteen. I think there's 13 streamings
- 1:47:50going on. So go ahead and put them in
- 1:47:52there and she will answer as best as she can if she can, but
- 1:47:56that would be up to her. So you stay tuned right now.
- 1:47:58We're going to go now that we did third class and on my face,
- 1:48:02we're going to go back to to a hero.
- 1:48:07He's another one of my my face. His name is Dallas Alexander to
- 1:48:10a hero. And I think of Gemma as my hero.
- 1:48:13So you put it in your mind how you want and I stick in my mind
- 1:48:18how I want you. Listen to MB Radio dot US and
- 1:48:21we'll be right back. Alright.
- 1:52:15To a hero, the station where our veterans voices are heard.
- 1:52:20MBR talk. Hey thanks for tuning.
- 1:52:26In Welcome Back are those of the speakers and do not necessarily
- 1:52:31reflect the views or positions of any entities they represent.
- 1:52:35The web at MB radio dot. There we go.
- 1:52:40Dallas Alexander, 2A hero. Welcome back.
- 1:52:42You're listening to the world of conscious positive thinking.
- 1:52:44We're here with Gemma Lopez and our last a few minutes here.
- 1:52:49Gemma, I probably missed some things that maybe I, I need to
- 1:52:53get out to the public and maybe you know of those as well.
- 1:52:55So I'm going to give you the floor to describe your Wellness
- 1:52:59Center and your physical therapy center so that anybody within
- 1:53:02the area can reach out from the Keys to Homestead to Cutler
- 1:53:05Ridge, you know, on and on. Well, I think first take away
- 1:53:10is, you know, healing is multifaceted.
- 1:53:12So I try to learn. I am a learner of life.
- 1:53:17I'm constantly going out trying to learn as much as I possibly
- 1:53:21can to help people in as many ways as I possibly can.
- 1:53:25So I do my healing is multifaceted.
- 1:53:29I do heal on the physical level, but I also try to feel that I
- 1:53:33can help people on an energetic and emotional level as well.
- 1:53:38And let me tell you, you guys helped me a lot as well.
- 1:53:41It's it's a give and take and I am truly honored to be able to
- 1:53:44do what I do and to provide that service to people.
- 1:53:47If I am limited, I will do referrals out.
- 1:53:49So please know that I don't think on this greatest, you
- 1:53:51know, gift to God. I have limitations as well.
- 1:53:55And I know. That hot with that?
- 1:53:58Your thought? I think you are.
- 1:54:00It is. I mean, I'm a human being.
- 1:54:02Remember that first and foremost.
- 1:54:04I'm still in 3D form most of the time, but I am in Homestead.
- 1:54:09I have seen patients from Marathon all the way up from
- 1:54:12Doral Hialeah that come down Miami Beach.
- 1:54:15I have a client that MJ preferred that lives on Miami
- 1:54:17Beach. So I do.
- 1:54:20I see whoever and whatever needs me and if I do specialize in
- 1:54:24oncology, outpatient oncology and lymphedema.
- 1:54:26But I also work in orthopedics and I have for a very, very,
- 1:54:29very long time. So if you have any of those
- 1:54:33issues, pains, just come and see me or just give me a call, reach
- 1:54:36out to me on social media, send me a message if you have a
- 1:54:39question and we can figure out if I can help you or if you need
- 1:54:42a referral out. But I do cupping, laser, soft
- 1:54:47tissue release, myofascial stretching, strengthening
- 1:54:50Pilates. I'm also Pilates certified, so I
- 1:54:52do have a reformer in the office.
- 1:54:55Goodness, I don't know what else.
- 1:54:57I'm a Reiki practitioner. I'm also now getting into the
- 1:55:01John Barnes Myofascial release, which is amazing.
- 1:55:04And I have more to go on, but I'm happy to be here to help you
- 1:55:07guys, so please reach out if you need me.
- 1:55:10There was. A comment here from Todd C
- 1:55:13Miller says really enjoyed your guest Doctor Gemma Lopez.
- 1:55:18Her expertise on traditional, non traditional, holistic and
- 1:55:23the blending of all of them was very interesting and thought
- 1:55:25provoking. Having been through multiple
- 1:55:28orthopedic and joint replacement surgeries, it was an informative
- 1:55:31and thoughtful conversation that opens up different
- 1:55:34considerations for treatments and healings.
- 1:55:37This is a very great thing for those in need of treatments and
- 1:55:40many areas of trauma and correction and healing.
- 1:55:45I love Todd. Todd's been a friend for a very
- 1:55:47long time. There you go.
- 1:55:48There he is. Thank you, Todd.
- 1:55:51In the bigger, bigger words. Yes, I agree with you, Todd.
- 1:55:54She is an Angel walking in my book.
- 1:55:57And she doesn't know that. But it's OK.
- 1:55:59She'll learn it. Thank you.
- 1:56:03So even if you don't have a trauma, Gemma is open for Ricky
- 1:56:10practitioner. So if you want just to align
- 1:56:13your chakras or get an alignment, I believe Gemma would
- 1:56:17take you in as well into her Wellness Center, am I correct?
- 1:56:21You are correct and and just a little add in there, I do kind
- 1:56:25of mix the myofascial stuff that I have learned with the Reiki
- 1:56:30energy work because they complement one another.
- 1:56:33I bet. Thank you.
- 1:56:34So it is. Amazing what I have been doing
- 1:56:36there. About an hour and a half
- 1:56:37sessions to an hour and 15 minutes and the stuff that I am
- 1:56:42witnessing before my very eyes, the transformation of my
- 1:56:45clients, I can't even begin to describe into words.
- 1:56:49And I wish I, I should have sent them some a link so they could
- 1:56:52comment. But you know, I've heard things
- 1:56:56like life changing and they've been very grateful.
- 1:56:59I'm just the tool guys. I'm just the middle woman, OK?
- 1:57:03I'm just, you know, using divine.
- 1:57:04I always work in God's light and I'm just the middle man, you
- 1:57:08know, doing the work of God, so. Listen, when your pipes break,
- 1:57:12you need a plumber. When your body breaks down, you
- 1:57:15need JAMA. I can't say it loud enough.
- 1:57:17I can't. Or.
- 1:57:19MJ or Kimmy, there's others too. You know, we're all out there.
- 1:57:23We're out there to help you guys.
- 1:57:24We're out there absolutely, but this is your star today, baby
- 1:57:29and I and I'm with Todd. This is all about you today and
- 1:57:32we enjoy you. We love you and unfortunately
- 1:57:35that is the end of my show. Give the the hubby and the kids
- 1:57:38and mom a big hooker up. Emma, I cannot thank you.
- 1:57:42Thank you enough. Maybe out there, if you
- 1:57:45listening, reach outreach out, even if you're not in that area,
- 1:57:50I'll guarantee she can help point you in a direction that is
- 1:57:54going to help you in that path of recovery.
- 1:57:57I am sure of it. Or she'll give you some ideas of
- 1:58:01maybe to be looking at certain things that maybe we're not as
- 1:58:05individuals looking at, if that makes sense.
- 1:58:08So and MJ, thank you so much for having me.
- 1:58:11I've enjoyed our chit chat. It's like we're just having a
- 1:58:15cup of coffee and you know, old friends chit chatting and I
- 1:58:18really appreciate. It thank.
- 1:58:20You so much for everything you've done for me.
- 1:58:22Maybe angels carry you with peace, love, grace, joy,
- 1:58:24happiness and abundance of what it is that you desire most.
- 1:58:28My friends, have a beautiful day.
- 1:58:31This is MB Radio, we have to sign off and I am MJ with the
- 1:58:35world of conscious positive thinking.

- 1:58:39Ulster area, we're having chakra classes starting Tuesday

- 1:58:50shout. We'll get you in and get you up
