Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host, NASA Chobee.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome in to another edition of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks
- 0:13Speaker 1: getting ready to take on a division rival Arizona Cardinals
- 0:16Speaker 1: at Lumen Field on Sunday, fresh off a huge win
- 0:19Speaker 1: over the Washington Commanders. Bump things are looking good here
- 0:22Speaker 1: at the Virginia Maacon Athletic Center.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Look good, feel good, play good. They look good too
- 0:26Speaker 3: before they even started the game. Them Thobacks are looking
- 0:29Speaker 3: nice out there. Then they go out there and to
- 0:30Speaker 3: start the game off hot. That's what we want to see.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and we're gonna get into it. Obviously.
- 0:34Speaker 1: The Seahawks made a huge trade this week, acquiring Rashid
- 0:36Speaker 1: Shahed from the New Orleans Saints. He's gonna make a
- 0:39Speaker 1: huge impact for this club, so I'm excited. He's wearing
- 0:41Speaker 1: number twenty two in your program. So lots of breakdown. Well,
- 0:45Speaker 1: let's hop into those Arizona Cardinals. What's on tap? What's
- 0:48Speaker 1: on tap? Cardinals three and five, last place in the
- 0:53Speaker 1: NFC West, wins over the Saints. The Carolina Panthers, and
- 0:57Speaker 1: just last week over the Dallas Cowboys, Bump, but they
- 0:59Speaker 1: had a patching there. They lost five in a row,
- 1:01Speaker 1: losing to the forty nine Ers, the Seahawks, the Titans,
- 1:04Speaker 1: the Colts, and the Packers. But what jumps out to me, Bump,
- 1:07Speaker 1: is they're not getting dog walked out there, Nah, not
- 1:09Speaker 1: at all. Lost five games by combined thirteen points, and
- 1:14Speaker 1: so they're in every game. It doesn't look great when
- 1:16Speaker 1: we're gonna get into the head to heading all the numbers,
- 1:18Speaker 1: but Bomb, they find a way to stay in games,
- 1:19Speaker 1: and they're definitely not as bad as the record would
- 1:22Speaker 1: tell you. What did you see from the Cardinals on
- 1:24Speaker 1: Monday Night?
- 1:25Speaker 3: Yeah, the mah they got some potential, man, but they
- 1:27Speaker 3: played the Cowboys. The Cowboys came into the game averaging
- 1:30Speaker 3: thirty points and were held to just seventeen, and seven
- 1:33Speaker 3: of those points came off a block pump that was
- 1:35Speaker 3: recovered in the end zone for a touchdown. The Cowboys
- 1:37Speaker 3: reesed Arizona's seven with a first down on the game's
- 1:41Speaker 3: first possession, became away with nothing when Dad Prescott was
- 1:44Speaker 3: sacked on fourth down by Josh Swept, who had two
- 1:48Speaker 3: of his five sacks against the Dallas quarterback layers Campbell,
- 1:51Speaker 3: big ups, adies baby stalling there doing his Thinging also
- 1:53Speaker 3: had two with his two hunred and fiftieth career regular
- 1:56Speaker 3: season game.
- 1:57Speaker 4: He just he just hangs around. He's and plays.
- 2:01Speaker 2: If we see him on the sideline, pop down and like,
- 2:02Speaker 2: hey man, what are you taking?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah, because let me know, we need to put the
- 2:05Speaker 1: wealth out there playing onto something.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Cowboys like they were not they're bump. They're not very
- 2:11Speaker 2: good man.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I don't know what it is because no matter what
- 2:14Speaker 1: I see for them, they should be better. I feel like,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I know they got rid of Parsons start the year,
- 2:18Speaker 1: and I root for Brian Schottenneimer. Here's here in Seattle
- 2:20Speaker 1: for a long time, so it's tough to see some
- 2:21Speaker 1: of that. But offensively they look bad. Five twelve and
- 2:23Speaker 1: third down, zero for three on fourth down. Jacoby Brisset though, bump,
- 2:27Speaker 1: that's what stole the story and that's going to spend
- 2:29Speaker 1: a lot of our time. He was twenty one to
- 2:31Speaker 1: thirty one, two sixty one, two touchdown serer interceptions, quarterback
- 2:34Speaker 1: rating of one point fifteen.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Yeah, Jacobe, look good man, he's efficient. You know the
- 2:38Speaker 3: play action looks good. He's getting the ball out on time.
- 2:39Speaker 3: He'll spend some more time on him, and he played
- 2:42Speaker 3: well enough that coach Jean said, look, he has to
- 2:45Speaker 3: feel questions about him, and when you know when your
- 2:47Speaker 3: backup is doing your thing, you get to that press conference,
- 2:49Speaker 3: they're going to ask about him, and they decided to
- 2:52Speaker 3: roll with him. But in hindsight, it's because Kyler Murray
- 2:55Speaker 3: got banged up as well, so he's on I R.
- 2:56Speaker 4: But they're rolling with Jacoby.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Said me, personally, I think that they should have roll
- 3:00Speaker 3: with a minyway even if Kyler was in here, because
- 3:02Speaker 3: he's the one or wasn't in it, because he's the
- 3:04Speaker 3: one that stopped that the losing streak, and the offense
- 3:07Speaker 3: just looks more efficient when he is over there. And
- 3:10Speaker 3: he also had Demercallo, who had a second best rushing
- 3:13Speaker 3: total of the season. He has seventy nine yards on
- 3:14Speaker 3: fourteen carries. But it was more about Jacoby.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Jacoby. And here's another thing, who's gonna like that?
- 3:19Speaker 1: Marvin Harrison. He had his best game as a Cardinal
- 3:22Speaker 1: in terms of catches, seven receptions ninety six yards, did
- 3:25Speaker 1: most of that damage in the first half.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Goodness, gracious, what he did.
- 3:27Speaker 4: A drawing blank. Oh my gosh, that was tough.
- 3:29Speaker 1: We saw what we saw, what happened with Jason this
- 3:32Speaker 1: last week. Yeah, this was equally disrespectful. But that connection
- 3:35Speaker 1: is definitely heating up. And for the Cowboys Dack twenty
- 3:37Speaker 1: four to thirty nine, two fifty one todd one interception.
- 3:41Speaker 1: But let's jump into the head to head match between
- 3:42Speaker 1: these teams. Like I said, the Seahawks on paper definitely
- 3:45Speaker 1: edging in most categories.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Look at the offense.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Seahawks have the ninth best offense in the league, averaging
- 3:49Speaker 1: three hundred and fifty nine yards a game, rushing offense
- 3:52Speaker 1: twenty second, pass offense fourth in the league, in fifth
- 3:55Speaker 1: in points per game. When you look at the Cardinals,
- 3:57Speaker 1: there twenty first in total offense, twentieth in rush off
- 4:00Speaker 1: twentieth and pass offense, and nineteenth in points per game.
- 4:02Speaker 1: So they're towards the middle of the pack, towards the bottom.
- 4:04Speaker 1: The Seahawks are definitely making their way up there. Looking
- 4:07Speaker 1: pretty good offensively.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Yeah, defensively on total defense, the Hawks are eleventh against
- 4:12Speaker 3: the rum, they're second against the pass, they're eighteenth, and
- 4:14Speaker 3: points allow fifth, only giving up eighteen point eight per game.
- 4:17Speaker 3: On the other side, the Cardinals are twentieth overall, twelfth
- 4:19Speaker 3: against the run, twenty thirty against the pass, and eleventh
- 4:22Speaker 3: and giving up twenty one points per game. Cardinals have
- 4:25Speaker 3: five interceptions. The Hawks have nine interceptions. Look, it's there's
- 4:29Speaker 3: a gap in between some of these numbers, but this
- 4:31Speaker 3: is the NFL, you know how as goes no.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Question about it.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It'swer division opponent that you've beaten a lot, yeah recently,
- 4:37Speaker 1: so because of that, they're gonna be ready to go.
- 4:39Speaker 1: And they've seen a lot of the film on the Seahawks,
- 4:41Speaker 1: but that takes us to.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Knowing the history, No your history. Seahawks lead all time
- 4:49Speaker 2: series thirty to twenty two and one.
- 4:51Speaker 1: The Seahawks have won, like I said, eight games against
- 4:54Speaker 1: the Cardinals their last eight, nine of their last ten.
- 4:56Speaker 1: They're eleven to one and one at State Farm Stadiums
- 4:59Speaker 1: for twenty thirteen and Week four was a game that
- 5:02Speaker 1: the Seahawks felt like they were dominating in the score
- 5:04Speaker 1: though they only won twenty three to twenty. But the
- 5:07Speaker 1: Seahawks came out and let's fast forward to throughout that game.
- 5:10Speaker 1: It was seventeen to six, lead eleven forty in the
- 5:12Speaker 1: game looks like Zach starvinyaks On running the end zone,
- 5:14Speaker 1: game sealing touchdown, but then there's a phantom hold on
- 5:17Speaker 1: Jacksmith and ridiculous. That was absolutely brutal. The Seahawks had
- 5:20Speaker 1: a setle for l field goal. Unfortunately, the Hawks at
- 5:22Speaker 1: the Cardinals back into the game. They scored two touchdowns
- 5:24Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. Marvin Harrison, who had a dropped
- 5:27Speaker 1: ball that was intercepted kind of rebounds, gets in the
- 5:30Speaker 1: end zone. So with that score was tied at twenty
- 5:33Speaker 1: twenty with twenty eight seconds left in the game. But man,
- 5:36Speaker 1: the Cardinals will we messed it up. Chad Ryland was
- 5:39Speaker 1: unable to get the ball into the landing zone. Which
- 5:41Speaker 1: we love these new rules putting pressure on the kickers,
- 5:43Speaker 1: make them kick. Seahawks take advantage, JSN making a huge
- 5:47Speaker 1: play setting up the game winning field goal by Jason Myers.
- 5:50Speaker 1: The Seahawks get the victory twenty three to twenty and
- 5:53Speaker 1: again the Seahawks dominated this game. They outgained the Cardinals
- 5:56Speaker 1: three eighty four to two fifty three, out rushed to
- 5:58Speaker 1: Cardinals one to fifty five to eighty nine, one time
- 6:00Speaker 1: in possession thirty two twenty four to twenty seven thirty six.
- 6:03Speaker 1: They were in control from the jump. You didn't like
- 6:05Speaker 1: to see the Cardinals get back in the game. So
- 6:07Speaker 1: fast forward this week. Hopefully the Seahawks, if they get
- 6:09Speaker 1: a lead like that, they can hold on. But bump,
- 6:12Speaker 1: let's get into what's going wrong in the NFC West.
- 6:15Speaker 1: What's the word and the Seahawks or the NFC West champs?
- 6:22Speaker 2: Again, that's the word in the West on Hawk talk.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Let's look at the NFC West.
- 6:29Speaker 3: The Seahawks sitting on top of the division six and two,
- 6:31Speaker 3: the Rams six and two, nine Ers six and three,
- 6:34Speaker 3: and the Cardinals two and five.
- 6:36Speaker 4: So the Saints were at the Rams this past week.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Tyler Schuck made his first NFL start and did it
- 6:41Speaker 3: in the way that he won it.
- 6:42Speaker 4: He's a rookie. I mean, how many times does it
- 6:44Speaker 4: in the way of rookie ones?
- 6:45Speaker 3: Right, Sunday's game between the Rams and the Saints was
- 6:48Speaker 3: never in doubt. The Rams were in control of this
- 6:51Speaker 3: game from the jump. They won thirty four to ten.
- 6:53Speaker 3: The Rounds were up by two scorers for the majority
- 6:55Speaker 3: of the game. And that's how our for rookie quarterback
- 6:58Speaker 3: to try to come back from Matthew Stafford twenty four
- 7:00Speaker 3: to thirty two to eighty one, four touchdowns, zero interceptions,
- 7:03Speaker 3: finished with a QB rating of one forty.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Stafford has been on fire last five games.
- 7:07Speaker 3: He's passed for fourteen ninety yards, sixteen touchdowns, no interceptions.
- 7:11Speaker 4: People don't talk about him in the MVP. Talk enough.
- 7:14Speaker 3: I get Pat Mahomes then lead the charge. But yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 3: get this man in the mix. Kyen wims Let all
- 7:19Speaker 3: ball carries of one to fourteen, twenty five carriers in
- 7:22Speaker 3: a touchdown, Pookin Davonte can buying for twelve and one
- 7:24Speaker 3: to fifty five and three touchdowns. Davonte is still one
- 7:27Speaker 3: of the best rezone threats in the game right now.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Nicole went to the locker room and the third quarter
- 7:32Speaker 3: after having an injury to his rids. The Rams believed
- 7:34Speaker 3: he dodged a bullet and avoided a serious injury. Came
- 7:36Speaker 3: back on the field in the fourth quarter, but he
- 7:39Speaker 3: didn't record a reception.
- 7:40Speaker 4: I don't believe.
- 7:40Speaker 2: No, they didn't really need him to go back in
- 7:42Speaker 2: the game. I think if it was a tight game
- 7:43Speaker 2: that would have put him back in the game. They didn't,
- 7:45Speaker 2: and they hold on for the victory.
- 7:47Speaker 1: We're not going to jump ahead because our focus today
- 7:49Speaker 1: is Arizona Cardinals, but man, the Rams are looming. That
- 7:52Speaker 1: matchup is going to be absolutely not so we'll stay
- 7:55Speaker 1: tuned for that.
- 7:56Speaker 2: The Rams have a big showdown with the forty nine
- 7:58Speaker 2: ers on Sunday Bump.
- 8:00Speaker 4: That's a good one.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hard to looking at the record wise either way.
- 8:04Speaker 1: They both can't lose eleve ten in a tie, but
- 8:06Speaker 1: what can.
- 8:06Speaker 4: You do that He'll be perfect.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Speaking of those forty nine ers of above, they played
- 8:10Speaker 1: the Giants and they continue to stay in it. They
- 8:12Speaker 1: have injuries galore, but they continue to find ways to
- 8:15Speaker 1: stain games and win ball games. Forty nine Ers win
- 8:17Speaker 1: another week without Brock Perdy, who's missed five games in
- 8:20Speaker 1: a row. But that was not a problem because Christian
- 8:22Speaker 1: McCaffrey has been balling one hundred and seventy three scrimmage
- 8:24Speaker 1: yards two touchdowns, led the team in rushing and receiving
- 8:28Speaker 1: twenty eight carries, one hundred and six yards in a touchdown,
- 8:30Speaker 1: five receptions sixty seven yards in a touchdown. The Rams
- 8:34Speaker 1: ran the ball thirty nine times for one fifty nine.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Mac Jones.
- 8:37Speaker 1: When he did throw the ball, he was efficient nineteen
- 8:40Speaker 1: of twenty four, two thirty five, two touchdowns, no interceptions,
- 8:43Speaker 1: Brian Robinson's out of fifty three year rushing yards on
- 8:46Speaker 1: just five carries in a touchdown, Giants couldn't get out
- 8:49Speaker 1: of their own way a couple clutch drops from special
- 8:51Speaker 1: team's airs, dropping their third game in a row, coming
- 8:53Speaker 1: to two and seven on the year. Now again, the
- 8:56Speaker 1: Rams in forty nine ers that kicks off at one
- 8:58Speaker 1: twenty five, a little bit after the Seahawks game. So
- 9:00Speaker 1: we'll definitely be tapped into that because this division is
- 9:03Speaker 1: started to take shape and it's one of the best
- 9:05Speaker 1: in the league each and every week. Even when the
- 9:07Speaker 1: Cardinals are three and five, like we mentioned, they can
- 9:09Speaker 1: play some football. So it should be interesting as we
- 9:11Speaker 1: go on. But speaking of this Cardinal, those Cardinals, I
- 9:15Speaker 1: try to combine Car forty nine is about nothing. Let's
- 9:19Speaker 1: get back into those Cardinals. Man up, you got who
- 9:22Speaker 1: you got? You know what time it is?
- 9:24Speaker 2: Man up? Man up?
- 9:24Speaker 4: Brother, man up?
- 9:26Speaker 2: Man up?
- 9:26Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk Michael Bump is Jacobe Brissette. We got
- 9:30Speaker 1: to talk about who this man is because I don't
- 9:32Speaker 1: think a lot of people really know kind of know
- 9:33Speaker 1: him as a journeyman quarterback, been around the league. But
- 9:36Speaker 1: let's dive into that. So it's been a hot topic
- 9:38Speaker 1: of conversation. Obviously, we kind of touched on it at
- 9:40Speaker 1: the beginning of this week. You know, Kyler Murray has
- 9:43Speaker 1: been the franchise quarterback for seven years. Beside in the
- 9:45Speaker 1: last three weeks he goes to ir with a foot injury,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and Gannon says, hey, it's the best thing for him
- 9:50Speaker 1: and us. He's fully committed what he is going to
- 9:52Speaker 1: do his contrary on getting healthy. So obviously there's kind
- 9:55Speaker 1: of a controversy coming into this game, but it doesn't
- 9:56Speaker 1: really matter because Murray's injured. We're gonna look at brisset
- 9:59Speaker 1: So ten seasons in the league already tenth year for Presetra,
- 10:03Speaker 1: third round pick to the Patriots and twenty sixteen draft
- 10:05Speaker 1: at North Carolina State. He started fifty six of nine
- 10:08Speaker 1: to two games he's played in. Spent his rookie year
- 10:10Speaker 1: in New England and the next four with the Colts.
- 10:12Speaker 1: You might remember him. He's been a starter for the
- 10:14Speaker 1: Colts two different years. One when Andrew luck heard his
- 10:17Speaker 1: late towards laboram he started the entire season and the
- 10:20Speaker 1: next time is when Luck abruptly retired. Right since then,
- 10:24Speaker 1: he's had Stinton, Miami, Cleveland, Washington, back to New England,
- 10:27Speaker 1: now back in Arizona, starting sporadically over the last four years.
- 10:31Speaker 2: This year's feels a little different. They're one and two
- 10:33Speaker 2: of him as a starter.
- 10:34Speaker 1: But the Cardinals offense is humming twenty five points per
- 10:37Speaker 1: game right now since he's been up there without a
- 10:39Speaker 1: really a running game at all. He's tenth and passer rating.
- 10:41Speaker 1: He's played well enough to win a lot of those games.
- 10:44Speaker 1: And you look at his numbers seventy three of one
- 10:46Speaker 1: to twelve, eight hundred and sixty yards, six touchdowns, one interception,
- 10:49Speaker 1: It sat thirteen times QB rating of one oh two
- 10:52Speaker 1: point five bump. When you look at Jacoby Brissett, what
- 10:54Speaker 1: does he do well. He's not going to kill you
- 10:56Speaker 1: with the speed. He's not going to kill you with
- 10:58Speaker 1: the best deep ball of all time.
- 10:59Speaker 2: But what he do.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Well he is a organizer. He organizes this offense.
- 11:04Speaker 3: He is efficient his What I love the most about
- 11:07Speaker 3: him too, is that he's great under center. When he
- 11:09Speaker 3: gets into that drop and he's doing the mesh, he
- 11:12Speaker 3: looks like a pro. You can tell I've been around
- 11:14Speaker 3: some good quarterbacks back in my day. There's some guys
- 11:16Speaker 3: who when they fake the handoff and do the boot,
- 11:18Speaker 3: it looks it's too flowy.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Like his is robotics.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Show you the ball, tuck the ball, hide it rolling
- 11:23Speaker 3: out and he's good in the pocket. He operates from
- 11:25Speaker 3: the pocket, and he knows where to go with the
- 11:26Speaker 3: football all right. Marvin Harrison at ten targets last game.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Why because he's the best option that he has over there.
- 11:32Speaker 3: The second most targets he's had this year, actually tied
- 11:34Speaker 3: for first off he had ten targets a a few
- 11:37Speaker 3: weeks ago.
- 11:37Speaker 4: But he's efficient, and that's all you want out of
- 11:39Speaker 4: your quarterback.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Give the play a chance, and with Kyler Murray he
- 11:43Speaker 3: gives the big play a chance. Jacoby Bassett gives a
- 11:46Speaker 3: simple play a chance which can eventually turn into a
- 11:48Speaker 3: big play.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I got you knowing it's It'll be interesting because the
- 11:51Speaker 1: Seahawks played Jacoby last year when he was starting for
- 11:54Speaker 1: the New England Patriots. I think they held him to
- 11:56Speaker 1: under one hundred and fifty yards passing, sacked him three times.
- 11:58Speaker 1: So it'll be interesting to see if the Seahawks he
- 12:00Speaker 1: can get after him again.
- 12:01Speaker 3: All right, let's talk about our quarterback Sam Donald coming
- 12:04Speaker 3: off another amazing performance. Man, My man won the FedEx
- 12:06Speaker 3: like Airplayer of the Week or something on that name.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Twenty one to twenty four to three thirty four touchdowns,
- 12:12Speaker 3: one interceptions. Started the game with thirteen straight completions tied
- 12:16Speaker 3: oh sorry, thirteen, what am I doing? My bad showed
- 12:18Speaker 3: at you four seventeen straight completions that tied Warren Moons
- 12:22Speaker 3: franchise record for consecutive completed passes.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Sam Darnald.
- 12:26Speaker 3: The first half was a perfect sixteen of sixteen to
- 12:28Speaker 3: eighty two, four touchdowns, perfect passer rating a one pint
- 12:31Speaker 3: eighty five point three. He now has eighteen games with
- 12:35Speaker 3: one hundred plus passer rating and since twenty twenty four,
- 12:37Speaker 3: that's the most in the NFL.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Donald's bond. I mean again, every time we look at
- 12:43Speaker 1: you put out these numbers. Seventh in passing yards, number
- 12:46Speaker 1: one in past pass yards per attempt, number one in
- 12:48Speaker 1: yards per completion, number three in passer rating, number five
- 12:51Speaker 1: in completion percentage.
- 12:52Speaker 2: He is again, he's playing.
- 12:55Speaker 1: At this level, and I love it because now the
- 12:56Speaker 1: rest of the nation is now involved in the party
- 12:58Speaker 1: and being like, oh see doing something pretty good over there.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Sam Darnold is shown what he can do. So I'm excited.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Last time out against the Cardinals eighteen of twenty six
- 13:06Speaker 1: two forty two to one touchdown QB rating of one
- 13:08Speaker 1: to eleven. So that should be fun to see what
- 13:10Speaker 1: Sam can do this week. I alluded to a little
- 13:13Speaker 1: bit earlier. The Cardinals run game has been a little
- 13:16Speaker 1: suspect is in the right word, because when you look
- 13:18Speaker 1: at their numbers, they're in the top twenty or whatever,
- 13:20Speaker 1: but it's not spread out, you know, in a way
- 13:24Speaker 1: where most of the guy, one guy has all the carries.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Because James Connor gets hurt right away, right Trey Benson
- 13:29Speaker 1: he also gets hurt. So now you kind of look
- 13:31Speaker 1: at who's playing running the ball. You got Bam Knight,
- 13:33Speaker 1: Amari de Marcaro, Michael Carter right now, looks like de
- 13:36Speaker 1: Marcado was kind of emerging as the guy last week.
- 13:39Speaker 1: He had a great game, fourteen carries, seventy nine yards
- 13:42Speaker 1: without Kyler. This really changes what they do in a
- 13:44Speaker 1: run game perspectives. Kyler definitely is a threat with his legs.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Jakobe Brissett is not that same. I say all that
- 13:50Speaker 1: to say the Seahawks are great stopping the run their
- 13:52Speaker 1: number two in the National Football League. This has to
- 13:54Speaker 1: be a week where that continues, and a guy like
- 13:56Speaker 1: de Mercado, even though he's going this way trending up,
- 13:58Speaker 1: the Seahawks got to continue to shut him down in
- 14:00Speaker 1: order to win this football game.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Hey, biggest democrato deal them with all he dealt with
- 14:04Speaker 3: on that sideline with his coach and now is being
- 14:07Speaker 3: leaned on to help this team out. So people don't
- 14:09Speaker 3: understand that the mental battles as some of these guys
- 14:12Speaker 3: go through.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Man, it's tough.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Our next matchup got Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison against
- 14:16Speaker 3: the Seahawks secondary trade.
- 14:18Speaker 4: McBride.
- 14:18Speaker 3: He continues to be one of the best tight ends
- 14:20Speaker 3: in the game. He's fourth in NFL receiving yards amongst
- 14:22Speaker 3: tight ends with four to seventy six, only trails Kelsey,
- 14:25Speaker 3: Warren and crab low Key big up to Kelsey because people.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Thought he was done. He was washed. One man's bouncing back.
- 14:32Speaker 3: McBride leads all NFL tight ends with two hundred and
- 14:34Speaker 3: forty four receptions over the last three seasons. He marked
- 14:37Speaker 3: his tenth consecutive game with five plus receptions. In NFL history,
- 14:42Speaker 3: there have only been three streaks longer by a tight end.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Last week against Dallas, it was his twenty second outing
- 14:48Speaker 3: with five plus receptions and fifty plus receiving yards dating
- 14:51Speaker 3: back to a second NFL season in twenty twenty three.
- 14:54Speaker 3: This year, he has thirty one receptions for sixty seven
- 14:57Speaker 3: three touchdowns and last matchup has seven receptions against the Seahawks. Yeah,
- 15:03Speaker 3: seven receptions for fifty two yards on eleven targets. You know,
- 15:06Speaker 3: what I like about him is that he is he's
- 15:09Speaker 3: a receiving tiny but he will block the heck out
- 15:11Speaker 3: of you too. Yeah, Like he is a massive man
- 15:13Speaker 3: and that will be good in that run game as well.
- 15:16Speaker 1: He's a complete player in its consistency when you're having
- 15:18Speaker 1: you know, might not seem like, you know, it's not
- 15:20Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty yards every week. Yeah, you're getting
- 15:22Speaker 1: five receptions fifty plus yards each and every time out there,
- 15:24Speaker 1: he's consistent, he'll block it. Trey McBride is a great
- 15:27Speaker 1: football player, one of their best threats. And then again
- 15:30Speaker 1: when you comes to pass catchers, Marvin Harrison Junior, when
- 15:33Speaker 1: you look at all these guys from Ohio State, Jack
- 15:35Speaker 1: Smith and Jake, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, list goes on
- 15:39Speaker 1: and on and on and on.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Marvin, you know, coming.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Out, might have had some of the highest expectations. He's
- 15:43Speaker 1: a top five pick and the production hasn't necessarily matched that.
- 15:47Speaker 1: And I don't know if it's his fault. There's been
- 15:48Speaker 1: a lot of volatility, different scordinaires, all this stuff going on.
- 15:51Speaker 1: But last week he might have found something coming off
- 15:53Speaker 1: one of the best games career high I said, seven receptions,
- 15:55Speaker 1: ninety six yards and a touchdown, and that was the
- 15:58Speaker 1: fourth most receiving yards in his career.
- 15:59Speaker 2: He also, like I said, shook drawn bland out of
- 16:01Speaker 2: his chews.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Hold ye, no, gracious.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I think he's a guy that when he finds his confidence,
- 16:05Speaker 1: he could be really dangerous. And now playing on the bassette,
- 16:08Speaker 1: that kind of built some chemistry for set talk postgame
- 16:10Speaker 1: about how he knew Marvels would have a good game
- 16:12Speaker 1: sitting new him pregame because he was going to get
- 16:14Speaker 1: him the football. So they're locked in and so definitely
- 16:17Speaker 1: be watching Marvin Harrison this week. On the season, thirty
- 16:19Speaker 1: one receptions, four hundred and ninety two yards, three touchdowns
- 16:22Speaker 1: leads the team in receiving yards, so it'll interestingly see
- 16:26Speaker 1: how his career continues to move on. But he's definitely
- 16:28Speaker 1: a top five pick for a reason.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you see, the talent now is about this chemistry inconsistency,
- 16:35Speaker 3: and we saw that last week. Our guys, Jason Tory
- 16:38Speaker 3: Horden and welcome to the squad. Rashid Shaheed, appreciate you
- 16:42Speaker 3: can't wait to see you play, Doll, but let's focus
- 16:44Speaker 3: on Jayson to start. He leads the NFL with nine
- 16:46Speaker 3: hundred and forty eight yards, is fifty two yards away
- 16:48Speaker 3: from one thousand. He leads the NFL and yards per
- 16:51Speaker 3: game with one to eight team. He's seventh in yards
- 16:53Speaker 3: per reception with sixteen point three. First player in franchise
- 16:57Speaker 3: history have four a consecutive one hundred yard games, tieds
- 17:00Speaker 3: large and for must one hundred yard receiving games in
- 17:01Speaker 3: a single season in franchise history with six past dk
- 17:04Speaker 3: Metcalf for the most receptions in the player's first three
- 17:06Speaker 3: seasons in franchise history with two hundred and twenty one
- 17:08Speaker 3: of these joined Hall of Famer Isaac Bruce as the
- 17:11Speaker 3: only player under the age of twenty five with nine
- 17:13Speaker 3: hundred plus receiving yards in their first eight games of
- 17:16Speaker 3: a season. He also became a fifth player in the
- 17:18Speaker 3: Super Bowl era with at least seventy five receiving yards
- 17:20Speaker 3: in each of his eight games of the season, joining
- 17:23Speaker 3: Adam Thielen, Antonio Brown, Michael Irving and Dwight Clark.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Is that good?
- 17:29Speaker 4: It's all right?
- 17:29Speaker 3: I mean, you know, I want to keep him humble,
- 17:32Speaker 3: So just keep rowling, jas and keep rowling.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Well, you look at that, and he's when it's til
- 17:38Speaker 1: I mean, shoot, the season could be over and for
- 17:40Speaker 1: a lot of guys they would kill Oh yeah, they
- 17:42Speaker 1: have the season that he's had to this point. So,
- 17:45Speaker 1: I mean, he's it's unreal. And we say each and
- 17:47Speaker 1: every week it's like a broken record. It's not like
- 17:50Speaker 1: defensive coordinators aren't out there being like, we got to
- 17:52Speaker 1: take this guy away. Yeah, they just cannot do it
- 17:54Speaker 1: because he continues to find and show you why he's
- 17:56Speaker 1: special as he is. But we'll talking about the new guy.
- 18:00Speaker 1: She Shahed loved this acquisition for the Seahawks. The Seahawks
- 18:03Speaker 1: sent over a fourth and fifth round pick then twenty
- 18:05Speaker 1: twenty six draft for him. Shaheed signed with the Saints
- 18:07Speaker 1: as an undrafted free agent out of Weaver State. Another
- 18:10Speaker 1: Big Sky felt big ups the Big Sky tyle Cotta
- 18:13Speaker 1: as well. In twenty twenty two, he had forty four catches,
- 18:15Speaker 1: four hundred and ninet nine yards and two touchdowns through
- 18:18Speaker 1: the first nine games of this season, including an eighty
- 18:20Speaker 1: seven yard touchdown against the Giants.
- 18:23Speaker 2: In four season with the Saints.
- 18:24Speaker 1: He had one hundred and thirty eight catches for twenty
- 18:26Speaker 1: fifty five yards twelve touchdowns, as well as nineteen carries
- 18:30Speaker 1: for one hundred and twenty eight yards in a touchdown.
- 18:32Speaker 1: He played under Clint Kubiak, which is absolutely huge coming
- 18:35Speaker 1: into this bump. I was not on the receiver, but
- 18:37Speaker 1: I can imagine if you're coming into a new system
- 18:40Speaker 1: and having learned the entire playbuck halfway through the year,
- 18:42Speaker 1: is probably pretty tough.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Yeah, it is tough to start.
- 18:45Speaker 3: You're probably going to the huddle and just listening to
- 18:48Speaker 3: the quarterback say some words that hardly made anything to
- 18:51Speaker 3: and asking, Okay, what do I do? Five formations are
- 18:54Speaker 3: are typically typically going to be similar or the same,
- 18:56Speaker 3: so you know where to line up. But after that,
- 18:57Speaker 3: I was like, all right, what do I got? So
- 18:59Speaker 3: with this there might be some of that to Starbucks.
- 19:01Speaker 3: For the most part, man, he's familiar with this offense exactly.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Obviously, terminology different things might be a little bit different,
- 19:06Speaker 1: but he understands what's going on. So that's gonna be huge,
- 19:08Speaker 1: you know, help him hit the ground running essentially in
- 19:11Speaker 1: this offense. And then you know, he's also excelled as
- 19:14Speaker 1: a returner. He's earning First team All Pro honors of
- 19:16Speaker 1: a punt returner and Pro Bo honors as the return
- 19:18Speaker 1: specials in twenty twenty three, when he had twenty five
- 19:20Speaker 1: punt returns for three hundred and thirty nine yards and
- 19:22Speaker 1: a touchdown twenty eight kick returns for one thousand, four
- 19:25Speaker 1: and seventy nine yards. In his NFL career, he's an
- 19:28Speaker 1: All American return in college and sixty four punt returns
- 19:31Speaker 1: eight hundred and four yards two touchdowns as well as
- 19:32Speaker 1: thirty eight kick returns three thousand, eight hundred and ninety
- 19:35Speaker 1: one yards. So he's been doing it and I love
- 19:37Speaker 1: how he fits in because Drake Young is dealing with
- 19:39Speaker 1: some injuries there, he could easily put himself right into
- 19:42Speaker 1: that return game. So I'm I'm excited. I'm really excited
- 19:45Speaker 1: what he can do. And again everyone's talked about, you know,
- 19:47Speaker 1: taking the top off the defense. He's a speed guy.
- 19:50Speaker 1: When everyone's healthy. Cooper cup JSN, Shaheed Donald's killing it
- 19:55Speaker 1: with them.
- 19:55Speaker 2: You add him to this, it could be really dangerous.
- 19:57Speaker 3: It could be man, they're they all bring something to
- 20:01Speaker 3: the table, right They can all stretch the Phil Jayson's
- 20:03Speaker 3: been doing it, Tory Horden's been doing it. He's going
- 20:05Speaker 3: to do it at a different level. But they all
- 20:07Speaker 3: have different styles at the same time. And I think
- 20:09Speaker 3: that's the best thing about this receiver group. All right,
- 20:12Speaker 3: let's look at the big boys for the Cardinals, Kalais Campbell,
- 20:14Speaker 3: Josh Schwetz and Walter know him the third against everybody last,
- 20:20Speaker 3: but not at least the Cardinals are playing some really
- 20:22Speaker 3: good ball up front of the defense.
- 20:24Speaker 4: We'll start with the age.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Just wonder Kalais Campbell, I need your vitamin plan, I
- 20:28Speaker 3: need your your eating habits, all of that, because I
- 20:31Speaker 3: need that. He just makes plays. Eighteen year VET, six
- 20:35Speaker 3: time Pro bowler. He had two sacks last week against
- 20:37Speaker 3: the Cowboys and five sacks on the season so far
- 20:39Speaker 3: this year, twenty one tackles, five sacks, seven TFLs in
- 20:43Speaker 3: twelve quarterback hits. Josh Schwett, Schwet, I always put that
- 20:46Speaker 3: station there. Sweats, Josh Sweats has also played some really
- 20:50Speaker 3: good ball right now. The eight year vets been seven
- 20:52Speaker 3: years of his career with Philly, but it's proven that
- 20:55Speaker 3: he still has some juice. He has seventeen tackles, seven sacks,
- 20:58Speaker 3: nine TFLs in twelve back hits.
- 21:01Speaker 2: They're they're shown they can bring some pressure.
- 21:03Speaker 1: A lot of this happened last week against the Cowboys,
- 21:05Speaker 1: each of them again five sacks. You mentioned Klais Campbell bump.
- 21:08Speaker 1: If you would have gotten on his vitamin plan, maybe
- 21:10Speaker 1: you still be playing. I'm man, you know eighteen years late.
- 21:13Speaker 1: You know I would have taken this full five more years. No,
- 21:16Speaker 1: but they're they're they're playing some good ball. And then
- 21:18Speaker 1: really intriguing to me is Walter Nolan. The third sixteen
- 21:21Speaker 1: overall pick in Thesers Draft. He missed training camp and
- 21:23Speaker 1: pretty much the old season, was active for the first
- 21:25Speaker 1: time against the Cowboys and he bawled out. I mean
- 21:28Speaker 1: he four tackles, two TfL's, one sack, one pass defended.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Nolan became the first player since TJ. Watt in twenty
- 21:33Speaker 1: seventeen and just a fourth player in NFL history to
- 21:36Speaker 1: have that type of debut. Now he'll be someone to
- 21:40Speaker 1: watch because you know, it's one game of film on
- 21:42Speaker 1: this rookie, so we'll see what happens there. But yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 1: when we looked at all those matchups and those guys
- 21:47Speaker 1: you mentioned, the Cardinals are a good football team. They
- 21:49Speaker 1: have players obviously the National Football League despite their three
- 21:52Speaker 1: to five record, you gotta play well against this team,
- 21:55Speaker 1: and that's what they're gonna do. So we're gonna tell
- 21:57Speaker 1: you guys how they get that done. Path to victory.
- 22:01Speaker 2: After forty five waits for the staff, Michael Dixon puts
- 22:05Speaker 2: it down.
- 22:05Speaker 4: That kick is away.
- 22:06Speaker 2: If that kick is gone, good day off.
- 22:09Speaker 4: When it's gone, it's a path to victory on Hawk.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Talk, Little by little Seahawks getting respect around the Nation
- 22:17Speaker 1: Football League. Expectations or you can continue to go up
- 22:20Speaker 1: if the Seahawks play as well as they're playing each
- 22:22Speaker 1: and every week, and they just got to keep doing
- 22:24Speaker 1: what they're doing. I think this coaching staff, Mike McDonald,
- 22:26Speaker 1: is a great job of keeping these guys their mindset right.
- 22:28Speaker 1: There's enough veterans on this football team who aren't looking
- 22:31Speaker 1: to the Rams next week. They're looking at this cardinal
- 22:33Speaker 1: scene right in front of them. And for me, it
- 22:34Speaker 1: starts with dominance on defense, stopping the run, keeping everything
- 22:37Speaker 1: in front, and making life hell for opposing quarterbacks. And
- 22:40Speaker 1: that's what this defense is done each and every week.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Yeah, the quarterback, Jacoby Brissett, he's gonna plays playing some
- 22:45Speaker 3: good football man, but that needs to change. Get some
- 22:47Speaker 3: pressure on this guy and make him have to roll
- 22:49Speaker 3: outside that pocket. Get him outside the pocket. That's where
- 22:52Speaker 3: this defense is gonna eat. Also, the Hawks have all
- 22:55Speaker 3: the advantage on paper, but you still got to play well.
- 22:57Speaker 3: You can't just show well, all right, the same Friday
- 22:59Speaker 3: night lights. And you have four or five stars on
- 23:01Speaker 3: your team, you're playing a team that has some JV guys.
- 23:04Speaker 3: This is the NFL. And on offense, keep protecting. Sam
- 23:08Speaker 3: Donald only sacked nine times this year.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It's hard to even think that where this team has
- 23:12Speaker 1: been over the last couple of years in the sack
- 23:14Speaker 1: totals and sacked numbers.
- 23:16Speaker 2: We're not talking about that anymore.
- 23:17Speaker 1: How Refresh, Yeah, real like, when you think about this team,
- 23:20Speaker 1: we're not talking about getting gashed in the run game.
- 23:22Speaker 1: We're not talking about getting sacked turnovers in the red zone.
- 23:25Speaker 1: That's the level this team is playing at. And Sam
- 23:28Speaker 1: Donald clean pocket, you keep playing at the MVP level
- 23:30Speaker 1: level we're seeing there. And then Jason, there's not enough
- 23:33Speaker 1: words to say about this man. He's the best in
- 23:35Speaker 1: the game right now.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Keep doing what you're doing.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Defensive backs, watch out and third downs where they fixed?
- 23:41Speaker 3: I think, So, I hope, so, I hope, so, I
- 23:43Speaker 3: hope they're fixed. The You gotta keep doing that. You
- 23:45Speaker 3: had a great week against Washington. You weren't in too
- 23:50Speaker 3: many third and lungs. I believe like two third and eights.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Other than that, the average third down was four yards.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Let's keep that rolling.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:56Speaker 1: No, again, you're finding we're getting to the point where
- 23:59Speaker 1: this team you can be nitpicky about Stephan because they're
- 24:02Speaker 1: playing so well in different things. So and I'm really
- 24:04Speaker 1: excited to see how Shahid plays in his first game. Obviously,
- 24:07Speaker 1: you know he might not have the whole playbook open
- 24:09Speaker 1: to him, but I think he can make an impact
- 24:11Speaker 1: right away. So we'll see the Seahawks get going against
- 24:13Speaker 1: the Cardinals on Sunday one to five, start at Loo
- 24:16Speaker 1: min Field.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Pregame show gets started. You're Way at ten am.
- 24:19Speaker 1: He's Michael Bumbas, I'm NASA Chobe. This has been Hawk Talk.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Hopefully we'll be talking to you on Monday about a
- 24:24Speaker 1: Seahawks victory
