- 0:00Speaker 1: Oh, much more Mark. Mark Simone. Now 9 till noon
- 0:05Speaker 1: weekdays on 710WOR. Hey, we'll take some calls. 800-321-0710 is
- 0:12Speaker 1: the number.
- 0:12Speaker 2: 800-321-0710.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Let's go to Bonnie in Doylestown. Bonnie, how you doing?
- 0:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Hi, Mark.
- 0:15Speaker 4: Hi, Bonnie.
- 0:16Speaker 2: That Sean Piker hates America.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Yeah, we know. You mean Hassan Piker.
- 0:37Speaker 2: What's that?
- 0:38Speaker 1: Hassan Piker.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yeah, well, anyway, I have a new name for him.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Go ahead.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Plunk.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'm going to spell it. P-E-C-K-E-R. And I'm going to
- 0:51Speaker 2: hang up and mark, I want to know what you
- 0:54Speaker 2: think about him. He hates America.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Yeah, we know this. We know this. We know this.
- 0:59Speaker 1: We know this. Yeah. That's the name? Hassan Pecker?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:04Speaker 1: What does that mean? You mean like.
- 1:05Speaker 2: That's just his name that I'm calling him.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Calling him basically a penis? Is that what you mean?
- 1:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I'm surprised at you, Bonnie. You seem like such a
- 1:15Speaker 1: classy woman. The language you use. What is wrong with you?
- 1:19Speaker 3: I know it.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I could think of lots of names for him. He
- 1:22Speaker 2: hates us. I hate him back. But I want your
- 1:25Speaker 2: opinion about.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Him, Mark.
- 1:26Speaker 1: You seem like a nice, sweet woman. You've got to
- 1:28Speaker 1: stop obsessing about peckers. What is it with you and
- 1:31Speaker 1: this pecker stuff?
- 1:32Speaker 2: Okay, I'm going to hang up.
- 1:34Speaker 1: There is a pecker, right?
- 1:35Speaker 2: Tell me what you think about him, Mark.
- 1:37Speaker 1: David Pecker, right?
- 1:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I can promise you I will not be thinking about
- 1:41Speaker 1: it for one second. Anyway, thanks for calling.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Okay, bye.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Yeah, all right. It's the last thing I expected to
- 1:49Speaker 1: come out of her. In Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Let's go to
- 1:52Speaker 1: John in Ronkonkoma. John, how are you.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Doing?
- 1:58Speaker 1: I'm doing great.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I've got to follow that call up.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Anyway, so no mention of Long Island Pizza and the
- 2:05Speaker 4: best pizza.
- 2:07Speaker 1: You know, nobody can figure out why. You've got the
- 2:09Speaker 1: greatest restaurants in Long Island. You don't have good pizza
- 2:12Speaker 1: in Long Island. Seriously. You don't have good pizza. David
- 2:15Speaker 1: Portnoy has talked about this for years. You don't have
- 2:17Speaker 1: good pizza.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Come on.
- 2:17Speaker 1: You got good pizza.
- 2:18Speaker 3: You ever go to Little Vincent's?
- 2:19Speaker 1: Little Vincent's is fantastic. Oh, please.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Oh, please.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Remember, Mark, it's on Long Island.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Come on, get it right, would you please?
- 2:27Speaker 4: It's either one.
- 2:27Speaker 3: You heard Billy Joel.
- 2:28Speaker 1: You can say either one. You can say in Long Island,
- 2:30Speaker 1: on Long Island. Little Vincent's is.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Yeah, and I know Billy Joel is off Long Island now, but,
- 2:35Speaker 4: you know.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Little Vincent's is famous for one thing. They have this
- 2:39Speaker 1: pizza where it's all cooked and done, and then they
- 2:41Speaker 1: throw cold cheese on top of it. Very cold cheese. Right, yeah.
- 2:45Speaker 1: That's what they're famous for. As Portnoy said, dumb, gimmicky.
- 2:49Speaker 1: You know why that started, that cold pizza, throwing the
- 2:51Speaker 1: cold cheese on it?
- 2:51Speaker 4: I don't know, get rid of the cheese that they
- 2:54Speaker 4: got to get rid of?
- 2:55Speaker 1: No, years ago, drunken college kids would go there late
- 2:59Speaker 1: at night, and they'd bite into the hot pizza and
- 3:00Speaker 1: burn themselves. That's why they threw cold cheese all over it.
- 3:04Speaker 1: There you go. Oh, actually, the best pizza is in
- 3:07Speaker 1: a restaurant, Tutto Pazzo, now called Posto Pazzo in Huntington.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Makes the best pizza in the world. But it's a restaurant.
- 3:15Speaker 1: It's like a sit-down restaurant with waiters and you order.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I might have to try that.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 1: It's phenomenal. But order something else. They get mad when
- 3:21Speaker 1: I plug the pizza because the big money is not
- 3:24Speaker 1: in the pizza. Yeah, they want to order the chicken.
- 3:28Speaker 1: That place has the best pizza in Long Island. But
- 3:30Speaker 1: that doesn't count because that's a serious chef pizza. That's
- 3:34Speaker 1: not a fire slice kind of pizza. All right. Thanks
- 3:38Speaker 1: for calling. Take care. Let's go to Blauvelt in Florida. Blauvelt,
- 3:42Speaker 1: how you doing? Blauvelt, are you there?
- 3:47Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I'm here. Can you hear me?
- 3:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 1: What did you want to say?
- 3:51Speaker 4: I said, what about Lombardi's on Spring Street? You never
- 3:54Speaker 4: talk about Lombardi's.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Very good. Excellent pizza. One of the finest and oldest
- 3:58Speaker 1: in Manhattan. Lombardi's is great.
- 4:00Speaker 3: 1905. Yeah, 1905.
- 4:03Speaker 1: That's the price of a slice, too. No, I'm kidding.
- 4:05Speaker 1: That's a very good pizza.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Hey, why is Blakeman wasting money running ads on your show?
- 4:11Speaker 1: Is he running ads on our show?
- 4:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I just heard two in the last couple hours.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I got to be honest. During the break, I went
- 4:19Speaker 1: to the little boy's room. Was he running ads here?
- 4:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I heard two.
- 4:23Speaker 1: That could be part of a deal. You know, if
- 4:26Speaker 1: you're running for office and you're a Republican and you
- 4:28Speaker 1: say to yourself, I don't need to advertise there, they'll
- 4:30Speaker 1: vote for you. We have the most important stations you
- 4:33Speaker 1: could advertise on, like Charlemagne right over there, Power 105.
- 4:37Speaker 1: The black votes, very important. Spanish votes, we've got KTU.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Whatever you need. Oh, so it's running over there, too? Yes,
- 4:44Speaker 1: sometimes they buy an iHeart package where they're on every station,
- 4:47Speaker 1: so it could be part of that. We have a
- 4:52Speaker 1: lot of sponsors who aren't even on the air, believe
- 4:54Speaker 1: it or not. They just want our social media. They
- 4:57Speaker 1: want to be all over our Instagram or TikTok, so
- 4:59Speaker 1: it's probably part of a big package buy.
- 5:02Speaker 4: All right.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Well, thanks for calling. Take care. Let's go to, let's
- 5:05Speaker 1: go to Marie in Ossining. Marie, how you doing? Marie
- 5:12Speaker 1: in Ossining. Are you there?
- 5:13Speaker 4: Nope.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Marie.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Can you hear me?
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Marie.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Ossining, New York, where Don Draper lived. Go ahead.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Right. And Sing Sing prison.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I just have a question.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Um, I'm, you know, I don't understand why Kathy Hochul
- 5:34Speaker 4: has to make the choice of whether there's, whether she'll
- 5:37Speaker 4: debate or not. I mean, she's the governor. Yes, but
- 5:39Speaker 4: she's also a candidate. So I don't know. I mean,
- 5:43Speaker 4: it just seems like unfair that she, you know, makes
- 5:46Speaker 4: the decisions as to whether or not she will debate.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Well, it's interesting because she didn't take public money. She
- 5:52Speaker 1: was able to raise so much money. If you don't
- 5:53Speaker 1: take the public money, you're not legally obligated to debate. She's,
- 5:57Speaker 1: Agreed to New York One, but only because that's the
- 5:59Speaker 1: most left-wing biased place in the world. Oh, okay.
- 6:02Speaker 4: I didn't know that. Yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 1: All right. Thanks for calling. We've got time for one
- 6:06Speaker 1: more call. Thanks. Let's go to Ron in Westchester. Ron,
- 6:10Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 6:10Speaker 3: I'm doing well, Mark. How are you?
- 6:13Speaker 1: Good.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Mark, are you familiar with the term vocal fry?
- 6:20Speaker 1: Vocal fry?
- 6:21Speaker 4: Yes. No.
- 6:22Speaker 1: It's this.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Hi, Mark.
- 6:25Speaker 3: How are you today?
- 6:26Speaker 4: Hey.
- 6:27Speaker 1: That's not vocal fry. That's just the cry of the yenta.
- 6:32Speaker 1: How are you?
- 6:33Speaker 3: That's... Yeah. No, that's how are you. But this is like,
- 6:37Speaker 3: can I take your order, please? It's exaggerated. Well, now.
- 6:42Speaker 1: You're talking about people that go, oh... When you say,
- 6:45Speaker 1: how are you? Oh, I don't know. I'm tired. Oh,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I know the traffic.
- 6:50Speaker 3: But now it appears on AI. I called a dental
- 6:54Speaker 3: insurance firm the other day and... She said, hi, this
- 6:59Speaker 3: is Donna. I'm your AI representative. Can I help you?
- 7:04Speaker 3: I said, Donna, where are you from? The Valley? And
- 7:07Speaker 3: she said, I'm so sorry about that.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that AI answering the phone. Hey, by the way,
- 7:14Speaker 1: when you create your voicemail, you don't have to say,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'm not in right now. Leave your name. We know
- 7:23Speaker 1: what to leave. Leave your number. And leave the time
- 7:28Speaker 1: that you called. What the hell do you need to
- 7:29Speaker 1: know what time I called? What difference does that make?
- 7:33Speaker 3: Everything is all exaggerated.
- 7:35Speaker 1: It is. Ron, great call. Thanks for calling. Take care. Hey,
- 7:38Speaker 1: when we come back, we're going to talk about The
- 7:40Speaker 1: Tonight Show. We're going to talk about Johnny Carson. Mark Malkoff,
- 7:45Speaker 1: he's the author of this great book called Love Johnny Carson.
- 7:49Speaker 1: It is the definitive book on Johnny Carson. But he's
- 7:52Speaker 1: also got a podcast and he's also got This great sub-stick,
- 7:55Speaker 1: we'll tell you all about it next on 710WOR.
