Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Let's go, baby, let's go.
- 0:04Speaker 1: From a championship backfield to your morning drive.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Hands to Hester, and Hester, yep, got it, five out
- 0:11Speaker 2: of five.
- 0:11Speaker 1: You're locked in to Off the Bench.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Flynn is back to throw for the end zone ball.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Cane Studio, here's Jacob Hester and
- 0:22Speaker 1: Matt Flynn.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Off the bench.
- 0:38Speaker 3: .
- 0:58Speaker 2: .
- 1:00Speaker 4: .
- 1:06Speaker 2: How we doing?
- 1:06Speaker 4: When are you getting your replacement? I don't know.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I got to find some. I know.
- 1:09Speaker 4: It's really hard to find these little earbuds with a wire.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I probably should have put in a lost and found claim.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Sure.
- 1:17Speaker 2: On the ones I left in the back of the air. Yeah,
- 1:18Speaker 2: they probably did.
- 1:19Speaker 4: How much would you have claimed those things for?
- 1:21Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:21Speaker 4: What, eight bucks?
- 1:23Speaker 2: Priceless. I mean, they were beats, you know? I mean.
- 1:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Now, were they 16, 17 years old? They were, but
- 1:31Speaker 2: they still worked. You know?
- 1:34Speaker 6: Wait, I found some on Target's website.
- 1:37Speaker 2: With the Apple ones.
- 1:39Speaker 6: Yeah, the Apple ones with the wire.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I haven't looked yet. I'm just going off what Flynn said,
- 1:45Speaker 2: which is probably always a bad idea.
- 1:47Speaker 4: No, no, no, no.
- 1:48Speaker 7: They have some Walmart brand ones.
- 1:51Speaker 4: I went to Walmart, Target.
- 1:54Speaker 5: I even went to a Walgreens right before I started
- 1:57Speaker 5: the show to try to find wired headphones. Could not
- 2:00Speaker 5: do it. Now, you could find them with the ones
- 2:02Speaker 5: with the Just the bud. I needed something that wrapped
- 2:06Speaker 5: around your ear.
- 2:08Speaker 6: Okay, so you got too picky with it then.
- 2:10Speaker 7: You just said you could find something, just not those
- 2:13Speaker 7: specific ones.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Well, I'm a professional respected media member. I had to
- 2:16Speaker 5: have something that wraps around the ear.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Obviously.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Obviously.
- 2:20Speaker 3: If you would have explained that situation, they probably could
- 2:24Speaker 3: have done.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Something for you.
- 2:25Speaker 7: Apple has some for $ 19 on their website. Free next
- 2:28Speaker 7: day delivery. You can pick them up at the Apple
- 2:31Speaker 7: store in the mall.
- 2:33Speaker 4: No, you don't want that. That's not real.
- 2:37Speaker 6: You're right, my bad.
- 2:39Speaker 4: They just hang on to the... They just barely hang
- 2:43Speaker 4: on to that earlobe.
- 2:44Speaker 6: But Jake's last one didn't have the... Did they go
- 2:46Speaker 6: around the ear?
- 2:47Speaker 8: Oh, they did.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I was trying not to agree with Flynn.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Because he's a media member.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I was trying to be quiet over here and not
- 2:54Speaker 2: get Flynn to spread it. Let me see.
- 2:58Speaker 4: He's a media member, not as respected as I am.
- 3:00Speaker 6: They got some at Best Buy.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Oh, I believe you.
- 3:03Speaker 4: I should never have believed Flynn. I went there, too.
- 3:07Speaker 4: I even had somebody work there help me.
- 3:09Speaker 2: What happened?
- 3:10Speaker 4: They were like, we ain't got him, buddy.
- 3:12Speaker 2: 22 bucks.
- 3:13Speaker 6: 22 bucks at Best Buy.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Maybe online.
- 3:17Speaker 2: 22 doll hairs?
- 3:18Speaker 4: Try picking that up in person. I ain't got that
- 3:20Speaker 4: on the shelf.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Who does that? That's your fault.
- 3:22Speaker 4: They got that in a warehouse somewhere.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Then just order it.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it was the day before the show started.
- 3:29Speaker 6: Oh, so you didn't plan correctly.
- 3:31Speaker 8: No.
- 3:32Speaker 3: You've been here a while now.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Well, I've had these. I got these babies in. Got
- 3:37Speaker 4: these on Amazon. Sent them right to my house. Dropped
- 3:39Speaker 4: them on the front door.
- 3:41Speaker 3: That's probably what Best Buy would have done if you'd
- 3:43Speaker 3: have went online.
- 3:44Speaker 5: I got these. These are like $ 13. They have lasted
- 3:51Speaker 5: since June 2nd last year.
- 3:54Speaker 3: $ 13.
- 3:57Speaker 4: And they look like they're custom fit for my ear canal.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks like you're about to sing at a concert. Oh, yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 5: About to start singing, and then rip it off. Second verse,
- 4:06Speaker 5: I'm going to rip it off.
- 4:07Speaker 6: So you can hear the crowd?
- 4:09Speaker 2: Well, it's like every concert that I've ever watched. They always.
- 4:13Speaker 2: They rip it out so they can hear the crowd,
- 4:15Speaker 2: but also it's just not right. They're hearing an echo
- 4:18Speaker 2: in their ear, and they just get so mad. They
- 4:19Speaker 2: rip it out.
- 4:20Speaker 6: Fix the echo.
- 4:20Speaker 2: They shake their head, and they look to the side,
- 4:22Speaker 2: and they just shake their head.
- 4:24Speaker 6: And you know one of his sound guys just messed
- 4:26Speaker 6: that up.
- 4:26Speaker 4: It's like.
- 4:27Speaker 3: You rehearsed this. It probably went fine in rehearsal. Why
- 4:30Speaker 3: does it always happen live?
- 4:31Speaker 2: They just shake their head.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Kind of like the morning show technology sometimes.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:36Speaker 4: We don't rehearse it.
- 4:37Speaker 2: The night before, though.
- 4:38Speaker 6: No, that's why we do.
- 4:39Speaker 2: We don't even do a walkthrough.
- 4:40Speaker 6: That's why Matt group FaceTimes us.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Jake, you got to answer next time, bud. Matt threw
- 4:45Speaker 3: out so many great ideas.
- 4:47Speaker 4: We'll walk through the whole show.
- 4:49Speaker 2: And go. What? With the great ideas.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 4:54Speaker 2: That's not fair.
- 4:55Speaker 4: You got to tease that, bud.
- 4:56Speaker 6: That's not for on-air consumption.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Oh, man. Well, hey, good morning.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Slow news day yesterday.
- 5:06Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Not a lot going on there.
- 5:10Speaker 6: People love that bit.
- 5:11Speaker 4: I didn't consume much news.
- 5:12Speaker 6: Not a lot going on, huh?
- 5:17Speaker 2: You did what?
- 5:18Speaker 6: You did. SpaceX.
- 5:19Speaker 4: I didn't consume much. I did. I consumed SpaceX. It's coming.
- 5:23Speaker 4: But we were busy yesterday.
- 5:24Speaker 6: Rest in peace, Dolly.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Rest in peace, Dolly.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, that's the big one.
- 5:28Speaker 2: That was part of the news I was talking about.
- 5:31Speaker 6: SEC versus Lane Kiffin.
- 5:33Speaker 2: That might have happened, too. And we're going to get
- 5:37Speaker 2: to that, like, in full detail. But also, let's start
- 5:39Speaker 2: off giving a little shout-out to Dolly.
- 5:42Speaker 6: Shout-out, Dolly. A legend of her time.
- 5:47Speaker 9: 80? 80.
- 5:47Speaker 2: 80.
- 5:48Speaker 5: I actually kind of thought she was a little bit
- 5:50Speaker 5: older than that.
- 5:51Speaker 3: I did, too, just because she's been in the spotlight
- 5:53Speaker 3: so long.
- 5:54Speaker 5: For so long. And still, just like. been crushing it
- 5:58Speaker 5: up until Reese. I feel like I seen her in
- 5:59Speaker 5: so many different things. Um, like she'll pop up at
- 6:04Speaker 5: a random sporting event, award ceremony, whatever, and just.
- 6:10Speaker 7: Start randomly have the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader outfit on 70
- 6:15Speaker 7: something years old.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Yeah. She's crushing him. Um, yeah, that was sad news obviously.
- 6:21Speaker 5: But I did, I did think she was a little
- 6:23Speaker 5: bit older than 80 when, when I did hear the news.
- 6:26Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Um, So very sad, very sad.
- 6:32Speaker 6: Rest in peace.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Is she on the Mount Rushmore of country singers?
- 6:37Speaker 4: That's a tough one.
- 6:39Speaker 2: That's tough.
- 6:41Speaker 3: She's in the conversation.
- 6:43Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Yeah, you can mention her for sure. That's tough, though.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I feel like, you know, George Strait obviously is up there. Yeah.
- 6:55Speaker 6: I'll be honest, I didn't listen to a lot of
- 6:57Speaker 6: her music.
- 6:58Speaker 7: I know the popular ones, but I wasn't doing Dolly
- 7:01Speaker 7: Deep Dives.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Nah, me neither.
- 7:02Speaker 6: But she is an icon.
- 7:07Speaker 4: A hell of a businesswoman, too.
- 7:09Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I told y'all, she has like a pirate-themed musical dinner.
- 7:16Speaker 6: The Buc-ee's that she was going to do.
- 7:18Speaker 2: In Panama City Beach.
- 7:19Speaker 3: So they got one in Gatlinburg, too. She's got Stampede.
- 7:24Speaker 3: She's got that. She did a lot.
- 7:28Speaker 4: I mean, Dolly.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Movies.
- 7:34Speaker 5: And at the time when we heard about the Buc-ee's thing,
- 7:37Speaker 5: we said nobody asked for this.
- 7:38Speaker 6: Nobody asked for it. I still stand by that.
- 7:41Speaker 5: We did stand by it, but I'll be damned if
- 7:43Speaker 5: I wouldn't go. I was driving by.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I got to visit now. I got to see it.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Out of respect, of course.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Of course. Of course out of respect.
- 7:54Speaker 5: So are we going to do a little... Maybe some
- 7:56Speaker 5: Dolly music today?
- 7:58Speaker 4: How do we feel?
- 7:59Speaker 2: Maybe it's on Thursday. Today's R & B day. We
- 8:03Speaker 2: want the listeners to be able to count on.
- 8:05Speaker 4: It is our show.
- 8:06Speaker 6: Again, I would need y'all's help.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I would.
- 8:09Speaker 7: I know, Jolene, 9 to 5.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I'll always love you.
- 8:13Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 2: It doesn't have to be every break. Well, today's R
- 8:18Speaker 2: & B day, though. So we want the people that
- 8:21Speaker 2: listen every. Wednesday, like when Doc comes in here, they know, oh,
- 8:24Speaker 2: Doc's here, and it's R & B day.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Hey, when you were gone, we didn't do R & B.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Well, that's on you as a bad host.
- 8:32Speaker 4: It was Saturday. Play the hits.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah, there's plenty of R & B hits. I know.
- 8:38Speaker 4: We play them. Played them for a year. For a year?
- 8:42Speaker 2: We didn't. It used to be Thursday. Then we changed it.
- 8:48Speaker 6: Yeah, why did we change it?
- 8:50Speaker 5: Because we were on location.
- 8:53Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Jake needed to hear those jams. Yeah.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Half the reason I show up.
- 9:01Speaker 4: What's the other half?
- 9:03Speaker 2: The laundry and Tay-Tay.
- 9:06Speaker 4: That is so fair.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Not you.
- 9:08Speaker 5: That is absolutely fair. I'll give you a back update.
- 9:12Speaker 5: Still not feeling great. I was feeling pretty good yesterday.
- 9:16Speaker 2: You got a leg up.
- 9:17Speaker 5: I do have a leg up. But then I got
- 9:19Speaker 5: in the car today. It's something about the seat of
- 9:21Speaker 5: the car, the way it's angled. Really tough to get out.
- 9:24Speaker 5: And so we kind of regressed. I think we regressed
- 9:26Speaker 5: a little bit this morning.
- 9:27Speaker 4: How are you getting out?
- 9:28Speaker 3: Are you just rolling?
- 9:29Speaker 4: I do like this little whole body spin thing. I
- 9:33Speaker 4: got to move everything. I can't twist. No twisting yet.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Oh, wait, dude.
- 9:36Speaker 3: How are you doing your ninja get up? You having
- 9:39Speaker 3: to put that on pause?
- 9:40Speaker 2: It hurts.
- 9:40Speaker 4: I still do it. It just hurts, you know? You
- 9:43Speaker 4: can't not do it, so.
- 9:45Speaker 3: You're obviously still doing it.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I can't not do the ninja getup.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I saw this guy on Sunday, again, hand on hip,
- 9:53Speaker 2: showing my wife and my children where to put furniture.
- 9:57Speaker 2: So I don't think he's doing any ninja getups.
- 10:00Speaker 5: The problem is i'm not smart with my recovery i
- 10:03Speaker 5: get that um i was starting to feel pretty good
- 10:05Speaker 5: yesterday and then i decided to move a fridge up
- 10:07Speaker 5: some stairs perfect oh my god no wait what fridge
- 10:11Speaker 5: i had to get another one.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Should have called me oh i was about to say
- 10:15Speaker 2: it's like.
- 10:16Speaker 4: You're I had to go find a... No, my fridge
- 10:19Speaker 4: doesn't come out.
- 10:19Speaker 5: I had to go get a very economical, temporary fridge.
- 10:25Speaker 2: You ain't got one of those all-white ones, did you?
- 10:27Speaker 4: Oh, baby.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 3: The hard plastic fridge.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, baby.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, baby. Those garage fridges.
- 10:36Speaker 5: No water line or drainage necessary for this bad boy.
- 10:39Speaker 3: You just plug it in.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Plug her in.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Nice. Well done. Dude.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Woke up this morning. All my groceries are cold, though.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Who else helped you move that up there, bud?
- 10:49Speaker 4: Well, we had a construction demo started yesterday. Oh, yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 4: The house is, like, ripped open now a little bit.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Not the walls yet, but the stuff inside. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Ripped up. So I borrowed one of those fellas.
- 11:01Speaker 2: You should have borrowed two.
- 11:03Speaker 4: I should have borrowed two.
- 11:04Speaker 6: Are you safe, fella?
- 11:05Speaker 4: I didn't. Are you safe, fella?
- 11:06Speaker 2: Are you safe, fella?
- 11:07Speaker 4: I should have borrowed. But I was feeling good, man.
- 11:09Speaker 4: I was feeling cocky. I was feeling ready to roll.
- 11:12Speaker 4: I was like, man, look at this. I got locked
- 11:14Speaker 4: and ready to go. I almost touched my knees.
- 11:19Speaker 2: On that note, when we come back, kind of decide here,
- 11:24Speaker 2: because I did get a chance to go to practice
- 11:27Speaker 2: and sit there and watch the LSU Fighting Tigers on
- 11:30Speaker 2: the actual football field. We do know that the SEC
- 11:35Speaker 2: has come out and said that you can't play players
- 11:38Speaker 2: that have been professionals. That's in basketball, football. So we
- 11:42Speaker 2: got that to break down. A lot to get to here,
- 11:45Speaker 2: but it was very exciting to go watch a little
- 11:48Speaker 2: LSU practice compared to what it was just a year
- 11:51Speaker 2: ago at the same time. We'll talk about it all
- 11:54Speaker 2: when we come back here on OTV.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Off the Bench.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Hey, go to RussellPools.com. What's up for Russell Pool Company?
- 12:05Speaker 2: Been in the game since the 1960s, and that means
- 12:08Speaker 2: that they know how to build a pool and have
- 12:10Speaker 2: a pool withstand the South Louisiana weather. Now, they're going
- 12:15Speaker 2: to customize your pool to whatever you're dreaming up in
- 12:18Speaker 2: your brain, and they're going to make sure that you
- 12:20Speaker 2: get all the bells, all the whistles that you want to.
- 12:22Speaker 2: But that's not just when building new. If you want
- 12:24Speaker 2: to renovate your pool, let's say you bought a house
- 12:26Speaker 2: that had an existing pool, and it was just a
- 12:28Speaker 2: kidney-shaped pool, and you want to Beyonce that thing. You
- 12:31Speaker 2: want to upgrade it. Well, they can come in, and
- 12:33Speaker 2: they can do that as well. There's not anything they
- 12:36Speaker 2: can't do when it comes to the pool game. Russell pools.com.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Yeah. Go check out russellpools.com and just look at their
- 12:42Speaker 5: gallery of work. Scroll down that webpage, click the links.
- 12:45Speaker 5: You can see things that they've done in the past ideas.
- 12:47Speaker 5: You can get like those creative juices flowing about what
- 12:50Speaker 5: you might want to turn your backyard into, but they
- 12:52Speaker 5: can literally do everything. Uh, they can make it a
- 12:54Speaker 5: resort style pool. They can make it simple, whatever it is.
- 12:57Speaker 5: They are the experts. Russell pools, russellpools.com.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Yes. Me again. Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Locked in on LSU football 24-7. You're listening to Off
- 13:36Speaker 1: the Bench.
- 13:46Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in. OTV here live from the
- 13:50Speaker 2: Raising Cane studio. I did get a chance to finally
- 13:56Speaker 2: go watch LSU practice yesterday, like in its totality and
- 14:00Speaker 2: not just. you know, warm-ups or anything like that, had
- 14:03Speaker 2: a chance to go over there. Me and Dick Dixon
- 14:05Speaker 2: actually had a chance to go over there and watch
- 14:07Speaker 2: a little practice. Being on the old NFL tour didn't
- 14:11Speaker 2: allow for me to go watch.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Yeah, you left this show to go over there.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I had something to do. What was that?
- 14:19Speaker 5: Important.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Watch practice.
- 14:21Speaker 5: Yep.
- 14:23Speaker 2: And I did. And it was fun.
- 14:24Speaker 4: I hope it was fun.
- 14:25Speaker 2: I enjoyed it. It was. It was very fun. You
- 14:28Speaker 2: and I went to a practice last year. We couldn't
- 14:30Speaker 2: believe what we saw. Not in a good way.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it was bad.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Not great. I had a completely different feeling watching this.
- 14:37Speaker 2: And I kind of compared it to after coming off
- 14:39Speaker 2: the road and kind of evaluating how NFL teams practice
- 14:42Speaker 2: because not everybody does it well there either. Like, there
- 14:45Speaker 2: was some that I'm like, man, this is why they're
- 14:47Speaker 2: so good. And the Chiefs come to mind. I told
- 14:50Speaker 2: you this. Like, there was no wasted time, no wasted reps.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Everything had a purpose. Everything had a plan. And everybody
- 14:57Speaker 2: was doing something. That's what I saw yesterday, too. So
- 15:01Speaker 2: it looked like a real practice. Yeah, I went to
- 15:03Speaker 2: another practice in the NFL, and it was like the
- 15:05Speaker 2: ones versus ones were going. They'd come off. Twos versus
- 15:08Speaker 2: two would go. They'd come off.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Three versus.
- 15:10Speaker 2: So everybody was standing around. This was not that. This
- 15:13Speaker 2: was like one field was going here, one field was
- 15:15Speaker 2: going there, and there was constant movement. And there was
- 15:17Speaker 2: coaches yelling, spot the ball, get a playoff. Even when
- 15:21Speaker 2: they took a break to go into the tent, It
- 15:23Speaker 2: was like, hey, let's get in there, let's get it done,
- 15:26Speaker 2: and let's get back out here. And I know you're
- 15:29Speaker 2: going to laugh. I know we've all made jokes about
- 15:31Speaker 2: how many coaches are on the staff. Every coach that
- 15:34Speaker 2: was out there was coaching and doing something. Like, I
- 15:38Speaker 2: know you're going to laugh. 50 through 80? And it
- 15:40Speaker 2: feels like a lot of people are out there. But
- 15:43Speaker 2: the coaches, like, along the side, behind the play, they're
- 15:48Speaker 2: yelling at somebody to do something.
- 15:50Speaker 5: And it was very efficient. Incredibly efficient. But, like, does
- 15:54Speaker 5: every player have a coach assigned to them?
- 15:57Speaker 2: So, I'm glad you asked. Like, the one offensive line is.
- 16:01Speaker 4: It's a joke question, but it's almost like reality.
- 16:03Speaker 2: There was a one offensive line over in one corner.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Next to them was a two offensive line, and each
- 16:08Speaker 2: had their own coach. They go and do a drill.
- 16:11Speaker 3: All right.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I got a new respect for it. I'm telling you.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Good business if you can get it. If you have it.
- 16:19Speaker 4: If you can afford it.
- 16:20Speaker 2: If you have the funds to hire 78, 79 coaches,
- 16:24Speaker 2: whatever the number is, I'm just telling you, they put
- 16:28Speaker 2: them to use. Look, I've laughed with y'all on this subject.
- 16:33Speaker 4: If you take it out of context, that's such a
- 16:35Speaker 4: ridiculous statement.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I know. What I say, if you went over there
- 16:39Speaker 2: and you watched all the different periods, I'll give them
- 16:43Speaker 2: their credits. Everybody was getting coached up. I appreciated it.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, I see it.
- 16:52Speaker 4: That's great. It was.
- 16:56Speaker 5: So what you're saying is like in a normal team period,
- 17:00Speaker 5: you got the ones that will go and then they
- 17:02Speaker 5: come and they get water and watch the twos go
- 17:04Speaker 5: for four to six reps or whatever that is.
- 17:06Speaker 4: That's not happening.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Well, everything's so fast. It's like everybody's kind of like
- 17:14Speaker 2: a little NASCAR change, just like running in, running out.
- 17:16Speaker 2: And that's on one field. And then the other field's
- 17:18Speaker 2: got other threes, fours on that field. And they're kind
- 17:21Speaker 2: of doing the same thing. So there's not, you're never
- 17:23Speaker 2: going to sit for like a four minute, five minute period. Right.
- 17:26Speaker 4: So, I mean, I would assume that, you know, certainly
- 17:29Speaker 4: all by design, obviously.
- 17:30Speaker 2: And also it looked like they were in game week
- 17:32Speaker 2: prep as well.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Oh, that's good. That's good. And I would assume that's
- 17:35Speaker 4: how all their practices are.
- 17:36Speaker 5: Like there's, You can do as much as you want
- 17:39Speaker 5: to in the summer as far as conditioning goes.
- 17:40Speaker 4: You can run 110s. You can run curves. You can
- 17:42Speaker 4: run gassers.
- 17:43Speaker 5: You can do all the conditioning you can.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:47Speaker 5: But once you put the pads on and start practicing football,
- 17:49Speaker 5: it's different. It's great to be in good shape because
- 17:52Speaker 5: that gives you a better foundation, a higher foundation. But
- 17:56Speaker 5: there's still a certain amount of conditioning that you have
- 17:58Speaker 5: football conditioners you have to get in. And with the
- 18:02Speaker 5: speed at which Lane likes to operate his offense– I
- 18:06Speaker 5: would assume that all of this is by design to
- 18:09Speaker 5: be active conditioning. They are, without running sprints and gassers,
- 18:16Speaker 5: maybe they still are doing that after practice.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I don't know. I hope they are. Yeah, they are.
- 18:20Speaker 5: But during practice is the actual conditioning of football. You
- 18:26Speaker 5: have to, as an offense, you've got to be able
- 18:28Speaker 5: to go 8, 9, whatever, 10, maybe sometimes up to
- 18:33Speaker 5: 15 play drives, and go really fast.
- 18:35Speaker 4: And as a defense, you've got to be prepared for
- 18:37Speaker 4: it as well.
- 18:38Speaker 5: So I would assume a lot of that is by
- 18:40Speaker 5: design just for the conditioning aspect of it.
- 18:45Speaker 2: It was like they'd run a play, and then I swear, like,
- 18:48Speaker 2: it'd be three, four seconds, and there would be a
- 18:51Speaker 2: coach saying, why is the ball not snapped?
- 18:54Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh.
- 18:57Speaker 2: It's been three seconds. So they're trying to go like,
- 19:01Speaker 2: is Uber fast in that moment?
- 19:02Speaker 5: I cannot wait to watch it. I know LSU is
- 19:04Speaker 5: going to put up a lot of points. I think
- 19:06Speaker 5: as a quarterback, I'm looking at like my, I don't
- 19:09Speaker 5: know if I would have enjoyed that as a quarterback
- 19:11Speaker 5: or not. They go in the fast part.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I don't think that at the next level, because the
- 19:19Speaker 2: playbook's completely different, it's bigger, there's more volume to it,
- 19:23Speaker 2: you probably can't do something like that. But in college now,
- 19:26Speaker 2: with the old keep it simple stupid, like we're going
- 19:28Speaker 2: to run these things, 15 to 20 things and we're
- 19:31Speaker 2: going to have different variations of it that's how you're
- 19:33Speaker 2: able to go as.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Fast yeah and there certainly can't be you you have
- 19:37Speaker 5: to minimize the pre-snap adjustments that you can make so
- 19:41Speaker 5: like that was part of the game that i that
- 19:42Speaker 5: i enjoyed.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Yeah well that's part of why you go so fast
- 19:45Speaker 2: was that so they can't do some of the things
- 19:48Speaker 2: that they want to do we saw that last year
- 19:50Speaker 2: because Blake Baker was sending a lot of different people
- 19:52Speaker 2: from a lot of different levels. You have to be
- 19:55Speaker 2: a little bit more basic, I guess, when the offense
- 19:57Speaker 2: is going that fast.
- 19:58Speaker 5: You've got to be very vanilla, for sure. It's going
- 20:03Speaker 5: to be exciting to watch. They went fast. That was different.
- 20:07Speaker 5: They're What a difference a year makes in between training camps.
- 20:10Speaker 5: I mean, nothing is the same as it was a
- 20:14Speaker 5: year ago.
- 20:15Speaker 2: It doesn't look like a distant cousin to what we saw.
- 20:18Speaker 4: A year ago. But was it good? Yes.
- 20:21Speaker 2: If it had been bad, I'd have been like, it
- 20:23Speaker 2: was fast. It was bad in a hurry.
- 20:26Speaker 4: It was bad in a hurry. They did a lot
- 20:28Speaker 4: of bad plays real fast.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it wasn't that. Again, like efficient is kind
- 20:32Speaker 2: of the word that I was using leaving that practice.
- 20:36Speaker 5: So did they– okay, you remember this one play– That
- 20:38Speaker 5: you used to run? Where, like, a guard pulls? The
- 20:43Speaker 5: guard pulls, it's a running play? Did you see a
- 20:45Speaker 5: guard pull?
- 20:46Speaker 2: I know if, let's see, a two pull, it's kind
- 20:48Speaker 2: of a counter.
- 20:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 20:49Speaker 2: It's a gap scheme run. Oh, power.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Yes.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yes, I did see that.
- 20:55Speaker 4: You did? I did. It's in the playbook?
- 20:57Speaker 2: I did. It's in there. I'm not saying it was
- 20:59Speaker 2: their lead play by any means, but I also.
- 21:01Speaker 5: I feel like Lane's a big enough troll that he
- 21:04Speaker 5: used to run power first play.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Also, yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 4: First play.
- 21:08Speaker 2: I also saw the running back do stretch footwork.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Ooh, nice.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Didn't have one of those either last year, by the way.
- 21:14Speaker 4: A stretch? Yeah.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I love a good aiming point. It's going to be
- 21:18Speaker 2: the outside of the tackle, inside of the tight end,
- 21:21Speaker 2: and you're reading those blocks. One cut, put your foot
- 21:24Speaker 2: in the ground. Jake, why would you run outside when
- 21:26Speaker 2: you could just run inside? With a non-dual threat quarterback
- 21:31Speaker 2: running zone read.
- 21:32Speaker 4: But you could just run inside.
- 21:35Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Second and one, third and one, fourth and one.
- 21:38Speaker 2: You could two years ago.
- 21:40Speaker 5: But the thing about it is you could go right,
- 21:42Speaker 5: and then you could also go left.
- 21:45Speaker 4: So it keeps them guessing.
- 21:47Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 21:53Speaker 2: If you're not catching what he's talking about, he's talking
- 21:54Speaker 2: about last year's offense.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Yeah. Good luck, Kentucky.
- 21:58Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 22:01Speaker 4: I don't think Kentucky's going to be very good this year.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Based off?
- 22:06Speaker 4: Based off what? Because LSU wasn't very good, and they
- 22:09Speaker 4: had a lot of talent. Did y'all see Nussmeyer play?
- 22:12Speaker 4: He did. Play in the NFL?
- 22:13Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Did you see that play he made?
- 22:15Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 22:16Speaker 2: He looks good at practice.
- 22:17Speaker 4: Nussmeyer's going to be that backup, isn't.
- 22:21Speaker 9: He?
- 22:21Speaker 4: Yeah. Justin Fields is not very good.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Yeah, Justin Fields standing in his way.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Justin Fields is not very good at football.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Now, the one thing that watching practice that I don't know,
- 22:35Speaker 2: is what the receiver rotation is going to be like.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Cause there's just like so many and they rotate in
- 22:43Speaker 2: all the time.
- 22:44Speaker 3: So I know I'm bringing up all the time about
- 22:47Speaker 3: how many different receivers called passes last year. So like,
- 22:49Speaker 3: I'm to the point now, like somebody yesterday at the,
- 22:52Speaker 3: at the press conference, Ashley or Monday at the press conference,
- 22:55Speaker 3: ask Kiffin if they'd established like that number one go-to guy.
- 22:59Speaker 3: And he's like, Oh, we're working on it. And I
- 23:01Speaker 3: don't know if that matters. I don't know if he
- 23:03Speaker 3: needs a top guy. Cause he's going to have, six, seven,
- 23:06Speaker 3: eight guys that are going to go out there and contribute.
- 23:08Speaker 3: So it might be a different group every game.
- 23:11Speaker 4: It could be.
- 23:12Speaker 2: I do think, I do think even in that scenario,
- 23:16Speaker 2: you do want one guy that does stand a little
- 23:21Speaker 2: bit above everyone else. Cause they've had that in his
- 23:25Speaker 2: offenses before. It's not been a guy that's got 1800
- 23:28Speaker 2: receiving yards, but they've had a guy that is certainly
- 23:31Speaker 2: like 300 yards.
- 23:32Speaker 5: I wonder how that rotation works because, When the offense
- 23:36Speaker 5: goes on the field, they don't come off. So most offenses,
- 23:40Speaker 5: how they operate, they'll switch personnel, which allows the defense,
- 23:44Speaker 5: of course, to switch personnel as well. Well, Lane's offense
- 23:47Speaker 5: operates differently than that. They don't rotate in. They keep
- 23:50Speaker 5: one personnel out there. It doesn't allow the defense to
- 23:55Speaker 5: get fresh guys out on the field. So you're there
- 23:57Speaker 5: to wear the defense out. Now, you have to not
- 24:00Speaker 5: get worn out as well on offense, so I'm going
- 24:03Speaker 5: to be really interested in that first game to see
- 24:05Speaker 5: how the wide receiver rotation is. If there's like a, a,
- 24:10Speaker 5: a series one team series two, and they just rotate,
- 24:13Speaker 5: they rotate series. So, or is there, you have one
- 24:17Speaker 5: or two receivers that are going to be out there
- 24:19Speaker 5: for two series, one off two series, one off two series.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Like how does that rotation work?
- 24:23Speaker 5: Because if you have that many guys, like an Ole
- 24:26Speaker 5: Miss last year, if you have that many guys with
- 24:27Speaker 5: 600 plus yards receiving, they're not all out there at
- 24:31Speaker 5: the same time.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:33Speaker 5: They're rotating because you have to keep fresh legs, and
- 24:35Speaker 5: that is the benefit to the offense. You're going to
- 24:38Speaker 5: wear the defense down, especially if.
- 24:42Speaker 4: You can sustain.
- 24:44Speaker 5: You start going that fast, and you start getting close
- 24:46Speaker 5: to that 9-10 play in a drive mark, that defensive
- 24:50Speaker 5: line is going to be gassed.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, because if you don't sub, they can't sub.
- 24:54Speaker 5: And that is exactly why you practice and you train
- 24:57Speaker 5: like you saw yesterday.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Sometimes when you're a part of a rotation– Because I
- 25:02Speaker 2: can tell you, being a running back that we're always rotating,
- 25:06Speaker 2: sometimes you don't know. Sometimes you don't know. You look
- 25:08Speaker 2: over the sideline thinking, oh, I'm about to get taken out,
- 25:11Speaker 2: and they just wave you back on. Or sometimes they
- 25:12Speaker 2: wave you out when you think you're going really well.
- 25:15Speaker 2: You never know sometimes. You've got to always be ready
- 25:17Speaker 2: to run in and out. The difference of what we
- 25:19Speaker 2: used to do compared to what this is, to your point,
- 25:21Speaker 2: you don't sub because you don't want them to be
- 25:23Speaker 2: able to sub. So you're staying with the same personnel,
- 25:26Speaker 2: and you're going.
- 25:27Speaker 5: Then by the end of the drive, you're in the
- 25:28Speaker 5: red zone. and you need to pick up a few
- 25:30Speaker 5: yards on the ground, you're running against some very gas
- 25:34Speaker 5: defensive tackles.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Last thing that I will say that was impressive to
- 25:37Speaker 2: me yesterday before we move on, I felt an old-school
- 25:43Speaker 2: nature from the strength staff.
- 25:45Speaker 9: Ooh.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Like, some of the, you know, when a strength coach
- 25:49Speaker 2: talks and yells, like, sometimes, like, you still kind of, like,
- 25:52Speaker 2: look around your shoulder a little bit.
- 25:53Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Felt that a little bit.
- 25:54Speaker 5: Wait, is it like a strength coach group that, like,
- 25:57Speaker 5: expects relentless effort from the players? and pushes them to
- 26:00Speaker 5: give that relentless effort and yells at them if they
- 26:02Speaker 5: don't give that relentless effort?
- 26:04Speaker 4: Very much so. They make them strain in practice? Yeah. Like, wait,
- 26:08Speaker 4: the players have to strain very hard and work hard?
- 26:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and also that, because it has to happen, but
- 26:16Speaker 2: also the respect that a strength coach demands just by, like,
- 26:21Speaker 2: walking into a room or speaking up or saying something.
- 26:26Speaker 2: We were in a team meeting yesterday. And the strength
- 26:29Speaker 2: coach walks in, says one word. And, you know, people
- 26:32Speaker 2: are talking in a team meeting before you get started.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Like I said, one word, boom, quiet. I'm like, whew,
- 26:38Speaker 2: this feels familiar. That's the way it should be. You
- 26:40Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 26:40Speaker 5: I was scrolling through the socials yesterday, and I went
- 26:43Speaker 5: by something with Tommy Moffitt on it, and I sat
- 26:45Speaker 5: up in my chair.
- 26:46Speaker 4: Right. It was like just a reflex.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yeah, just like any time I still see Coach Saban,
- 26:51Speaker 2: like he'll walk by, we'll be at media days or whatever,
- 26:53Speaker 2: I'm kind of like, shoot, hold on.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Hold on a second. Shirt wrinkled, hold on. Shoes tied.
- 26:59Speaker 4: You know?
- 26:59Speaker 2: It felt that way. And that's not like, oh, man,
- 27:02Speaker 2: they're scared. It's not scared. It's respect. And that respect
- 27:07Speaker 2: has to be earned. And that's a good thing to
- 27:09Speaker 2: see that it has been. It's good to hear. Yeah,
- 27:11Speaker 2: very exciting. Very exciting stuff.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Why were you in the team? You were in the team.
- 27:14Speaker 4: You're not on the team.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Once a Tiger, always a Tiger, bud.
- 27:17Speaker 4: All right. Shoot.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Know what they tell us?
- 27:23Speaker 4: Yep.
- 27:26Speaker 2: They let Richard in there, too.
- 27:27Speaker 5: I'm just waiting for me and Miles Brennan to get
- 27:29Speaker 5: our invite. When are we getting our invite? You want
- 27:40Speaker 5: me to answer that or you want me to.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Break? Let's tease it.
- 27:45Speaker 2: All right. Well, no, we're not teasing what you said.
- 27:48Speaker 2: We will tease the SEC and what they first said
- 27:52Speaker 2: yesterday because we talked about that or at least a
- 27:54Speaker 2: couple days ago. to what came out a little bit
- 27:58Speaker 2: later in the day yesterday about former professional athletes in
- 28:02Speaker 2: football and in men's and women's basketball and the ability
- 28:06Speaker 2: to play on the college level. And we'll break it
- 28:09Speaker 2: all down when we come back here on OTB. Off
- 28:12Speaker 2: the bench. All right, go to pelicanroof.com, pelicanroof.com, the website
- 28:16Speaker 2: for Pelican Roofing. They're in Baton Rouge. They're in Lafayette.
- 28:21Speaker 2: And they're, like, actually there. Not office in one, driving
- 28:25Speaker 2: back and forth to the other. They have offices in
- 28:27Speaker 2: both locations. And that part is very important because we
- 28:31Speaker 2: want you to know that they're there in the local
- 28:33Speaker 2: communities as well as being the top roofer in the game. Now,
- 28:38Speaker 2: you can believe me, you can believe Matt, but if

- 29:02Speaker 5: or maybe it's just been a while. You don't know
- 29:04Speaker 5: how old your roof is. Maybe it's been 10, 15, 20,
- 29:08Speaker 5: whatever it is. Have them come out. Give you a consultation.
- 29:10Speaker 5: Tell you exactly what you need done to your roof.
- 29:12Speaker 5: Go check them out over there. Everybody needs a roof. Pelicanroof.com.
- 29:39Speaker 9: shady, ain't calling me baby. Better say
- 29:43Speaker 9: my name.
- 29:44Speaker 8: Any other day, I will call. You would say, baby,
- 29:47Speaker 8: how's your day? But today, ain't it the same? Every
- 29:50Speaker 8: other word is a huh, yeah, OK. Could it be
- 29:54Speaker 8: that you are at the grid with another lady? If
- 29:57Speaker 8: you took it there, first of all, let me say,
- 30:00Speaker 8: I am not the one to sit around and be played.
- 30:04Speaker 8: So prove yourself to me.
- 30:05Speaker 9: I'm the girl that you claim.
- 30:07Speaker 8: Why don't you say the things that you said to
- 30:09Speaker 8: me yesterday?
- 30:19Speaker 1: Welcome back to Off the Bench. Wednesday's show is brought
- 30:32Speaker 1: to you by Poncho.
- 30:36Speaker 2: That's right. It is brought to you by Poncho. Y'all
- 30:40Speaker 2: know we've been in the Poncho game for a long time.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Some would say male models. And you would be right.
- 30:47Speaker 2: It's very true. I wore my poncho today.
- 30:50Speaker 4: I wear it every day. Had one on later. Had
- 30:54Speaker 4: one on yesterday.
- 30:59Speaker 2: You go to ponchooutdoors.com slash offthebench. Ponchooutdoors.com slash offthebench.
- 31:08Speaker 6: Does that give you a discount?
- 31:11Speaker 4: It better.
- 31:11Speaker 6: A little $ 10 off?
- 31:13Speaker 2: What?
- 31:14Speaker 4: Maybe some free shipping?
- 31:15Speaker 8: What?
- 31:15Speaker 4: I don't know. Just saying.
- 31:17Speaker 2: That's pretty cool.
- 31:18Speaker 4: I got a closet full of them. I do as well.
- 31:21Speaker 2: They have LSU license apparel, by the way.
- 31:25Speaker 5: A lot of people have reached out to me and said,
- 31:28Speaker 5: you have been haunting my social media feed.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Look at you. You're everywhere. There's you. There's you.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Flynn's so hot right now.
- 31:37Speaker 4: So hot.
- 31:38Speaker 7: I see him more on my Instagram than I do
- 31:41Speaker 7: in real life.
- 31:41Speaker 2: And I see him every day.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Thanks for radio.
- 31:45Speaker 2: That's very factual.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Sex sells, people.
- 31:49Speaker 2: The natty back guarantee as well. So if LSU wins
- 31:53Speaker 2: it all, that poncho's cool.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Yeah, that is cool.
- 31:56Speaker 5: So they told us about that at the fishing trip.
- 31:59Speaker 5: They did a natty back deal.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Well, they told us about it last year, too.
- 32:07Speaker 5: If you buy your shirt, the team apparel, and your
- 32:09Speaker 5: team wins the natty.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Get your money back.
- 32:14Speaker 2: How about that?
- 32:15Speaker 4: How about that?
- 32:17Speaker 2: Now, they didn't have an Indiana shirt last year, so.
- 32:20Speaker 6: Do they have one this year?
- 32:21Speaker 2: No, I'm saying they didn't have to give any money back.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Any shirts back, right?
- 32:24Speaker 4: They just added a good handful of teams, too.
- 32:27Speaker 2: I know.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Their shirts are awesome.
- 32:29Speaker 2: They are. They are, like, literally the best. Not just because, like,
- 32:33Speaker 2: now they're a partner with the show. Y'all have heard
- 32:34Speaker 2: us talk about Poncho for a very, very long time. PonchoOutdoors.com
- 32:39Speaker 2: slash OffTheBench. Hey, Tay-Tay. Hey, Jake. The SEC, well, they
- 32:51Speaker 2: made quite the decision yesterday. Unanimous vote. I believe it
- 32:55Speaker 2: was 16 to nada. What was that vote?
- 32:58Speaker 3: So that's all of them, right?
- 32:59Speaker 2: Yeah, every school.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Man, athletes in any sport that participated any sort of
- 33:06Speaker 3: way in professional athletics, whether it's signing a contract, participating
- 33:09Speaker 3: in a training camp, anything of that nature, will not
- 33:12Speaker 3: be eligible to play in the SEC.
- 33:14Speaker 9: Hmm.
- 33:17Speaker 4: Who voted on this?
- 33:19Speaker 9: Everybody.
- 33:21Speaker 4: Not everybody. All 16. All 16 teams? Even LSU?
- 33:24Speaker 6: Wait, so the what? The athletic directors?
- 33:27Speaker 2: And presidents.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Okay.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Chancellors, right?
- 33:30Speaker 4: So the LSU one voted.
- 33:35Speaker 2: For it. So the thing, and all jokes aside, that
- 33:40Speaker 2: in this is going to be the most interesting part is, okay, well,
- 33:43Speaker 2: what does that mean? Does it mean it's going to
- 33:46Speaker 2: hold up? Does it mean that now, for what we've
- 33:50Speaker 2: talked about for the whole week, is it going to
- 33:55Speaker 2: mean anything? So, Tay-Tay, read for our listeners that aren't
- 33:59Speaker 2: watching on YouTube, read the actual release at the SEC.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Yeah, they said, you know, following the meetings with presidents, chancellors, ADs,
- 34:08Speaker 3: this is the following policy. An SEC institution is not
- 34:11Speaker 3: permitted to have an athlete on its roster who has
- 34:15Speaker 3: previously declared for the NFL, NBA, or WNBA draft and
- 34:18Speaker 3: did not appropriately withdraw to sign a contract with an
- 34:22Speaker 3: NFL or other professional football league, NBA, G league, WNBA,
- 34:27Speaker 3: or any sort of affiliated league. I've been listed on
- 34:30Speaker 3: an NFL or other professional football league, NBA, G league,
- 34:34Speaker 3: or WNBA roster at any point. And it says the
- 34:37Speaker 3: commissioner is authorized to enforce this expectation with penalties against
- 34:42Speaker 3: member institutions.
- 34:47Speaker 2: So we saw the Big Ten yesterday do this while
- 34:50Speaker 2: we were doing the show, I believe, actually when that
- 34:52Speaker 2: was happening. And the SEC does it a little bit
- 34:55Speaker 2: later in the day. So this is pretty, for something
- 34:58Speaker 2: that didn't feel very black and white, from the SEC perspective,
- 35:01Speaker 2: this feels very black and white.
- 35:02Speaker 9: Mm-hmm.
- 35:03Speaker 2: So now it's going to be the question, what happens next?
- 35:08Speaker 2: Because remember, Brendan Sorsby and Texas Tech, when we were
- 35:11Speaker 2: talking about that, well, the Big 12 got a little pressure.
- 35:15Speaker 2: And the Big 12 came together and said, okay, well,
- 35:17Speaker 2: this isn't going to happen. And it didn't. Now Brendan
- 35:21Speaker 2: Sorsby is working out, not playing football this year, trying
- 35:23Speaker 2: to get ready for next year's draft. Now I'm not
- 35:26Speaker 2: saying this is the same situation. Brendan Sorsby was betting
- 35:29Speaker 2: on his own team, and we all know that's why
- 35:31Speaker 2: he wasn't. So I'm not. He could have played. He
- 35:34Speaker 2: had another year, but different situation. But it's still the same,
- 35:37Speaker 2: and the conference came together and said, actually, this isn't
- 35:41Speaker 2: going to happen.
- 35:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:42Speaker 2: And then it went away.
- 35:43Speaker 5: It's certainly ever-evolving, changing probably by the hour behind the
- 35:47Speaker 5: scenes on the moves that everybody's making.
- 35:51Speaker 4: Yesterday on the show, the SEC had made a statement
- 35:53Speaker 4: at that.
- 35:54Speaker 5: Time, but it was very just like wagging its finger
- 35:57Speaker 5: type of deal. Then the Big Ten came out with
- 36:00Speaker 5: a statement. The other powerful conferences made similar statements. And
- 36:04Speaker 5: now the SEC kind of had to follow suit, basically,
- 36:09Speaker 5: with the other conferences.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Pretty overwhelming vote as well. So I.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Guess it all is going to come down to enforceability
- 36:20Speaker 5: and what they decide to do with this information. It's
- 36:23Speaker 5: one thing to say something. But you also got to
- 36:26Speaker 5: be about that action a little bit if you're going
- 36:28Speaker 5: to mean it. And so we'll see if they are
- 36:31Speaker 5: about that action. And what does that mean for the
- 36:34Speaker 5: new guys coming to LSU? What does it mean for, like,
- 36:38Speaker 5: going forward? Are we just going to kind of, like,
- 36:40Speaker 5: say this and then, like, let this year slide? Because
- 36:43Speaker 5: it's kind of this– we think this one year, at
- 36:46Speaker 5: least what Lane and them have said, is, like, this
- 36:48Speaker 5: is the anomaly year. Like, going forward, is it going– like,
- 36:51Speaker 5: we're just making this statement to– You know, we're building
- 36:54Speaker 5: this foundation going forward. Like, don't think this is going
- 36:57Speaker 5: any further than this year.
- 36:59Speaker 4: And this year gets a pass. We'll see. We'll see
- 37:02Speaker 4: how they decide to enforce it.
- 37:04Speaker 5: So, I mean, I'm– and I'm sure there's people that
- 37:08Speaker 5: know a lot more than I do, certainly, on this.
- 37:11Speaker 5: But I'm watching in real time and reacting in real time.
- 37:15Speaker 5: And I'm glad they made some sort of statement. I'm
- 37:17Speaker 5: glad they needed to. They needed– I hate when the
- 37:20Speaker 5: Big Ten kind of beats you to the punch on
- 37:22Speaker 5: something like that. but I know it's a little bit
- 37:25Speaker 5: sensitive right now with the SEC because of the moves
- 37:27Speaker 5: that LSU is making.
- 37:28Speaker 4: So SEC versus LSU? I don't know. Is that what it's, like,
- 37:33Speaker 4: pinned up to be?
- 37:34Speaker 6: Feels like it. I mean, the lawyers are going to–
- 37:37Speaker 6: they're already sane.
- 37:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:38Speaker 6: Like, Daquan Wright's lawyers are– What's that?
- 37:42Speaker 4: What's that?
- 37:42Speaker 6: Yeah, they're the Birdman hand rub. They're doing that right now.
- 37:46Speaker 6: They're licking their chops.
- 37:48Speaker 4: Oh, we got to fight the SEC now? Perfect.
- 37:50Speaker 7: His reps are figuring out next steps in real time.
- 37:54Speaker 3: It'll be interesting to see the loopholes because one of
- 37:57Speaker 3: us idiots up here yesterday, it was me, hand up, said, oh, man,
- 38:00Speaker 3: the Big Ten, they covered all their bases. They got this.
- 38:03Speaker 4: No.
- 38:03Speaker 3: A couple hours later, they were like, hey, Trent Hendricks,
- 38:05Speaker 3: you can play. You only participated in minicamp, not training camp.
- 38:09Speaker 3: You didn't sign an NFL contract. So Trent Hendricks, as
- 38:12Speaker 3: of now, is going to play for UCLA.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Well, I do guess so. If you do go to minicamp,
- 38:17Speaker 2: because minicamp's not a spot.
- 38:19Speaker 3: Well, he never signed a contract.
- 38:20Speaker 2: And you don't sign a contract for minicamp. You sign
- 38:23Speaker 2: a waiver if you get injured.
- 38:25Speaker 6: Diego Pavia can come back. You can try to sue him.
- 38:30Speaker 6: He got cut from minicamp.
- 38:31Speaker 4: He did have a contract.
- 38:32Speaker 2: But I wonder if he.
- 38:33Speaker 6: Had a contract.
- 38:34Speaker 2: He did, because it was like three years. I mean,
- 38:39Speaker 2: so when I went to minicamp with the Saints.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:41Speaker 2: You don't sign a contract. You just sign a, hey,
- 38:44Speaker 2: if I get hurt, you owe me something type situation.
- 38:47Speaker 5: You don't sign a contract to go to minicamp?
- 38:49Speaker 2: No, not if you're just an invitee. I can't sign
- 38:54Speaker 2: you and you need to go to minicamp, but for me,
- 38:57Speaker 2: I was just invited to go to minicamp.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Jay, isn't that just a tryout to go to training camp?
- 39:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and then they offered me a contract to go
- 39:04Speaker 2: to training camp, and that's when I decided to retire.
- 39:07Speaker 6: Honestly, while it's good.
- 39:11Speaker 7: To have some depth on the roster or whatever, whether
- 39:15Speaker 7: Daquan Wright and Zavian Harris get to play or not,
- 39:18Speaker 7: I feel like it doesn't really matter to LSU.
- 39:21Speaker 6: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 39:24Speaker 7: We're not going to suffer if Daquan Wright can't come
- 39:28Speaker 7: play for LSU.
- 39:29Speaker 2: And they're good players.
- 39:29Speaker 4: I'm not saying they're bad.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I'm just saying like, I'm with you.
- 39:33Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 39:33Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 39:34Speaker 4: I'm to the point now. Like, I don't really, I
- 39:36Speaker 4: don't care if they're on their team or they're, they're not.
- 39:38Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 39:39Speaker 4: Go beat Clemson.
- 39:40Speaker 6: Right.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Go beat.
- 39:41Speaker 5: You've practiced for a whole off season. You've had all
- 39:44Speaker 5: your summer workouts. You had spring ball with, with your
- 39:47Speaker 5: current roster.
- 39:48Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I get it.
- 39:49Speaker 5: Everything's in flux right now in college athletics. I don't
- 39:53Speaker 5: care if these people play for LSU or they don't.
- 39:55Speaker 5: I care about the longevity and keeping a little bit
- 40:00Speaker 5: of the sanctity of college athletics and college sports, but
- 40:04Speaker 5: I don't really care. Just go beat Clemson. You're not
- 40:09Speaker 5: going to be worse because these guys aren't on the team,
- 40:11Speaker 5: and you might be a little bit better if they
- 40:13Speaker 5: are on the team. I just don't care if they're
- 40:15Speaker 5: on the team. I'm going to cheer for LSU. I'm
- 40:17Speaker 5: going to scream and curse at the television. I'm going
- 40:20Speaker 5: to tell my kids to earmuff. You know what I mean?
- 40:22Speaker 5: It's just going to be one.
- 40:23Speaker 4: Of those things. I don't care. I just go beat Clemson.
- 40:26Speaker 6: Yes, let's just get to it already.
- 40:28Speaker 2: It was very good to see yesterday's scout team in
- 40:32Speaker 2: Clemson numbers. You know what I mean?
- 40:34Speaker 4: Because I was like, oh, man, we're almost to football.
- 40:38Speaker 2: We're almost to we get to talk about games and
- 40:40Speaker 2: X's and O's and did they execute or did they not.
- 40:43Speaker 2: What's the matchups? Who do we like? Get a little
- 40:46Speaker 2: pontoon parlay out there. Like, we're getting close to that time.
- 40:50Speaker 2: And the one thing that I don't want this to be,
- 40:53Speaker 2: because I'm with you. At this point, like, who cares?
- 40:55Speaker 2: Just tell me who's on the team. Give me a
- 40:58Speaker 2: depth chart. If there's some last names that are hard
- 41:00Speaker 2: to say on the radio, let me know that, too.
- 41:02Speaker 4: Well, they are. They're going to be.
- 41:03Speaker 2: There's probably going to be some. Not as bad as
- 41:06Speaker 2: UCLA a couple years ago. But there's going to be some.
- 41:08Speaker 2: And we'll talk about it. And then we'll break it down. Like,
- 41:11Speaker 2: just get me to that point. Just, like, let's get
- 41:13Speaker 2: to that.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Let me watch film.
- 41:14Speaker 2: I don't want this to be. a distraction that it
- 41:19Speaker 2: seems like inevitably it's going to be, that takes away
- 41:23Speaker 2: from the actual work that they've put in to be
- 41:25Speaker 2: good on the football field again. Now we've talked about
- 41:30Speaker 2: this a lot before, like the NFL, they don't do distraction.
- 41:34Speaker 2: They don't do it very. The top 3% can, can
- 41:39Speaker 2: cause a distraction and still be there. 97 other percent.
- 41:42Speaker 4: You're gone.
- 41:44Speaker 2: College football is different, but now, It is on everyone
- 41:49Speaker 2: to figure out how to move forward and not make
- 41:51Speaker 2: this a lingering distraction.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Kick the ball off.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Well, that helps.
- 41:58Speaker 4: Spot the ball. That helps.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Tay-Tay, sorry I cut you off there earlier, but I
- 42:09Speaker 2: know we've got to take a break. Yeah. We'll do

- 44:13Speaker 6: Yeah, why not?
- 44:14Speaker 2: It's like breaking the.
- 44:15Speaker 6: Fourth wall or something.
- 44:16Speaker 2: I say big voice guy all the time.
- 44:17Speaker 6: You're not calling her big.
- 44:20Speaker 4: When you speak to about or to women.
- 44:22Speaker 2: You gotta be careful. But you're calling her voice big. Yeah,
- 44:26Speaker 2: you get paid to have a big voice.
- 44:28Speaker 4: Like when Marla calls you big.
- 44:29Speaker 6: Big dog, yeah, that's ideal.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Hike those britches up, big dog.
- 44:33Speaker 6: It's an insane thing to say to somebody.
- 44:35Speaker 4: Crazy thing to say.
- 44:38Speaker 6: Well, you're going to act high and mighty. You called
- 44:39Speaker 6: me dude the other day.
- 44:41Speaker 4: Multiple times.
- 44:43Speaker 2: You just did it again when apologizing for calling her dude.
- 44:48Speaker 6: My bad, bro.
- 44:49Speaker 2: My bad, dude.
- 44:49Speaker 7: At least I didn't call you big dog.
- 44:58Speaker 2: That'd be awful.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Big A. Not good.
- 45:02Speaker 6: Oh, Big A sounds like a mobster or something. It does.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Sounds like the mobster that's like the severely overweight guy.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Kind of like an errand boy.
- 45:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:12Speaker 2: He's been there for a long time. He doesn't really
- 45:15Speaker 2: see a path to move up the ladder, you know?
- 45:17Speaker 6: Please don't ever call me Big A.
- 45:19Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. It could be worse.
- 45:21Speaker 4: Well, no.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Go get Big A to do it. Feels like that
- 45:24Speaker 2: kind of guy's role.
- 45:25Speaker 3: Big A solves problems.
- 45:27Speaker 6: He's like sitting in the corner of the Italian restaurant.
- 45:29Speaker 2: No doubt.
