Latest / Podcast - Big 98.7 / The annoying things neighbors do
Transcript
- 0:00It's a beautiful apparently. The pandemic, you know, I did a lot
- 0:03of things to us. It changed a lot of things. One of those
- 0:05things being that we're all bad neighbors now because we have a sense of,
- 0:09you know, our own personal space, which is a good thing, but
- 0:12it doesn't give you right to be a bad neighbor. I also just kind
- 0:15of feel like that comes with the older you get too, Like I feel
- 0:18like, yeah, you're just gonna get off my lawn. It just happens.
- 0:22Whether you want it to be that way or not. Sometimes it just
- 0:25happened. Oh, I totally. You know, as a kid running around
- 0:28Glyndon and getting on there's this one yard in particular that if you ever stepped
- 0:32foot on it, let alone like rode your bike through it, the guy
- 0:34would chase you with his truck. He never caught us, thank god.
- 0:37I don't know what he was gonna do. But you don't think about it
- 0:40when you're young and just being a tool. We've all been there and even
- 0:45it's amazing to me still how many people will walk their dog without a garbage
- 0:48bag to pick up their dogs. The worst people hitting me right now,
- 0:52the worst people. It's like convicted murderers and then then those people. Yeah,
- 0:57we're lucky. We struck the lottery. It came to neighbors, like
- 1:02directs neighbors. But I have noticed and our neighborhood and maybe new development.
- 1:06There's a lot of wheats, like people just they don't have their lawn yet
- 1:10and they're just letting it just looks like bushes of wheat, just bushy.
- 1:14Do you have anyway? Nobody? We have these things called specials and they
- 1:19are really expensive, and they keep talking on so that should be I would
- 1:23think pay for some of those things now unless you got like a nerdy like
- 1:26board leader to crack down on them. There's nothing they can really do about
- 1:29weeds, you know. I feel like that's something the city could call them,
- 1:32be like, hey, you're not allowed to do this. I don't
- 1:34know a part of our We've got a Facebook group in the neighborhood. Everybody
- 1:38has those now, and it's just the ranting and calling people out. I
- 1:41feel bad sometimes because there are some people on there. They'll like take a
- 1:44picture of a kid, like this kid was being a punk at the neighborhood
- 1:47park. I'm like, that's a poor kid. Oh my god. Ye
- 1:51down a little bit. What's an annoying thing you've had a neighbor to?
- 1:53Seven one two ninety eight seven. I was like always the bad neighbor.
- 1:57We wreaked a lot of damage in like Morehead in college. You know,
- 2:00five of us living in that house. I bad. I felt bad.
- 2:04We'd be the ones that we would never bring our garbage out on time,
- 2:06so it would compile up in our garage and then we would have to run
- 2:09at night. We would take turns dropping garbage bags off into our neighbor's garbage
- 2:14cans. Yeah, no, that's annoying. Yeah, what about you interned
- 2:15Gracie? Any bad neighbor stories? I mean my mom's neighbor. She doesn't
- 2:21like we share like the driveway because we are in a town home. Huh.
- 2:23She doesn't like if you park your car like too close into her driveway.
- 2:29She came over to my mom's house one time and told my mom that
- 2:31my sister had to move her car because it was too close to I mean,
- 2:34that would annoy the heck out of me, it really would. Yeah,
- 2:36those door dings never in a situation. There is a lot of people
- 2:38though, on Facebook chiming in saying that they are having people that are towing
- 2:45vehicles, or there's too many cars, or some people are saying that they
- 2:47are just parking in their driveway without even telling them. That's bizarre. Really,
- 2:53that's what an insane personality trade. You must feel like to do that
- 2:57if you're not friends with them. There was a gala him who had chimed
- 3:00insane and I thought this was a joke, but apparently her neighbor they were
- 3:04out of town, jumped over their fence, went onto their patio and used
- 3:08their pool when they were dark. That's just illegal. Do you help yourself
- 3:14to the fridge while you're at it? No kidding? Seven one two one
- 3:16ninety eight. Seven annoying things your neighbors have done? Good morning, Trinity.
- 3:20Well, I live in a smaller town up north of Fargo, Moorhead.
- 3:24But I'd love to know which one, Hendrom. I'm born in Halstead,
- 3:30so I totally gets you. Oh yeah, Well, my neighbor has
- 3:34this really big dog, and like like you said, I'm not a dog
- 3:38hater. I got two dogs myself, but this dog is has already bitten
- 3:43two kids. No owner let him off the leash like he just runs around
- 3:50town like crazy. And even the city isn't doing anything about it. That's
- 3:53terror. This is a cereal bier. Yeah, that's that's okay. Is
- 3:59it a big big dog? Oh yeah, he's a German shepherd. He's
- 4:00putting Oh man, Is there nothing you can do about that? Like law
- 4:04enforcement you think would kind of step in, You would think, yeah,
- 4:06well, I've called them a couple of times and they just go and talk
- 4:11to them. And I've called the city and I'm thinking about bringing it to
- 4:14like our city meetings that we have monthly, because this is way too long
- 4:18small town props. I mean going to the city meeting and just around under
- 4:21the bus. But what do you do? I mean, it's crazy.
- 4:25It's got to be all the chatter up at that Hendrom bar, right,
- 4:29Oh yeah, I can amand it in the morning. Eight point seven.
- 4:35You guys know that this is to report out that basically it's convincing people to
- 4:39never ever use fast food ice again, because there's a few reasons. You've
- 4:44heard the stories about how gross it is. No, I've never heard this
- 4:46because I actually am a huge fan of fast food ice Sonic in particular.
- 4:53Yes, well, Taco Bell used to have that same kind of ice grain
- 4:57up. Oh what is that like the kind of snow coney. Yeah.
- 5:00Yet I love ice. I do love chewing ice, but you're not gonna
- 5:02want to eat it anymore after this because well, one, there was a
- 5:05study done that shows that seventy percent of the time ice cubes from a fast
- 5:10food restaurant contain more bacteria than toilet water. Stop it. Why, Yeah,
- 5:16well the machine is disgusting. Yeah, I suppose, like how often
- 5:19are they even cleaning that Exactly? There's mold in there, and then the
- 5:23employees they're not washing their hands before, they're just scooping ice out of there,
- 5:27So there's that. See, I always feel like they have the ice
- 5:30machine that they're they're not physically touching my ice. That's how I envision it
- 5:33every time. Not at Arby's. My only experience was two years at the
- 5:36East ten Arbies and more Head and there was no we had to go scoop
- 5:42the ice and then you just okay, dip your hand into the right after
- 5:45touching that roast beef. That was the most sanitary thing in the building.
- 5:48As much as I'm like, oh now I want an Arby's roast beef sandwich,
- 5:53Oh my god, I'm so hungry. There's also this it can kill
- 5:56you. In twenty sixteen, there were two fatal cases of Legionaire's disease,
- 6:00a form of pneumonia, traced back to a hospital's ice machine. Yeah,
- 6:04and then just the kicker. There was also a study done that showed when
- 6:09you have ice in an ice coffee, it literally if you take the ice
- 6:12out, only fills up half of the cup getting away. Yeah, I
- 6:15do know a lot of people who get real angry with the ice situation.
- 6:18It's like, no, I'm paying for Especially when it comes to coffee,
- 6:20It's like I'm I'm gonna be wanting all of the coffee. Yeah, little
- 6:26to no ice, right, but then you want it cold, So it's
- 6:29like that dilemma. Also like drinks. Do you ever go to some you
- 6:30know, the pooria drink and it's all ice? Yeah? Well that much?
- 6:34I don't know. Are you going to still use ice after this,
- 6:38after this damning report? Yeah, it's just hard for me to believe that
- 6:43with all the ice that we have, more people would have been real sick.
- 6:46I just feel like we have really good immune systems, right, guy,
- 6:48I know you're right. I'm not like a big germaphoe. But it
- 6:50is gross if you think about it, is really disgusting when you think about
- 6:54it. That's why I try not to think about anything like even That's why
- 6:58you do that. Up this morning, Up this morning, Pike in Amanda
- 7:01in the morning, it's today's variety, Big night at point seven. Hello,
- 7:08we're pliking the Manday in the morning. Perfect weather today for the kickoff
- 7:11of Happy Harry's rib Fest and winos today from four to six at the Grotto.
- 7:15Gonna be sunny in eighty five. All right, time to get somebody
- 7:18out of the friend zone. His name is Brandon and he's found himself in
- 7:23the old forbidden co worker love ter. All right, I'm excited see what
- 7:27we can do. Hey, good morning, Brandon, Hey, good morning.
- 7:30How are you. We're good? How about you? I'm okay.
- 7:34I was wondering if you could help me with the Well, we got your
- 7:39message, and first of all, really appreciate you confiding in us. We
- 7:43do have a pretty good reputation when it comes to getting people out of the
- 7:46friend zone. And you, my man, it sounds like are in the
- 7:48friend zone? Correct? Yes, yes, so, um so there's somebody
- 7:53that I work with her name's Danielle, and we met about a year ago
- 7:58at work and ever and sign that her I've had a huge crush on.
- 8:03Oh boy, Yes, she's pretty. She's really really nice, and so
- 8:07every every two weeks or so, you know, when the office kind of
- 8:11goes out to a happy hour. And so then a couple of months ago,
- 8:16I feel like something made it happened between us or you know, like
- 8:20a little we were vibing a little bit, a little spark. Huh,
- 8:24yeah, I think so, I think so. So she had had a
- 8:28few too many drinks. So I gave her ride home just to be like,
- 8:31don't worry, I got you, And so I made sure she got
- 8:35it okay, And just as I was I was leaving, I gave her
- 8:39a little kiss on the cheek and just what I thought, So I thought
- 8:43maybe she might have been given me a little vibe at the time, and
- 8:46maybe she was interested in me. So I just got to clarify she's like
- 8:50had a few too many, but like it's still kind of with it correct,
- 8:54Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, definitely just probably
- 8:58stumble it around. You got her into Now was she hanging on you?
- 9:01Like gave you a hug goodbye, and then you just went in for the
- 9:05pack. How was that received? She kind of went like it didn't seem
- 9:09like a like an angry like okay, it kind of was like a please
- 9:16like like like uh like like like as if I rubbed her back or something
- 9:22like. It was it was like the old That's what I'm talking about.
- 9:28Okay, So after this, where are we at? Have you guys been
- 9:31texting going back and forth or what's uh, what's been going on since?
- 9:35Well? We we uh, we have not talked about it at all.
- 9:39We have not talked about She's not brought up I've not brought it up.
- 9:43But it hasn't been weird at work either, Like it's not like an awkward
- 9:48between us as it's it's it's like it's um never happened. And so we
- 9:52haven't been out for drinks since, like the office has not been out for
- 9:56a happy hours since. So I want to ask her out, but I
- 10:00really don't want to make things weird at work. So that's that's why I
- 10:03hit you. Guys understood, I have a question. You're not her boss
- 10:07or anything like, it's not weird for you guys to be dating in the
- 10:09office. No no, no, no, no, no. Well,
- 10:11I mean I don't know. Some for some people it's weird, like oh,
- 10:16dating someone at work. But it's not like I'm her boss. There's
- 10:18not like a dynamic or she's not your boss of the right people, Brandon,
- 10:22My wife was an intern at one point. So oh man, oh
- 10:28wow, okay. Yeah, so he's saying, yeah, I have a
- 10:30chance. I'm intrigued. I mean, you had me at the peck on
- 10:33the cheek and her going, well, Brandon, we'll see if she's still
- 10:39mean about it. So we're gonna give Danielle a call, and we're gonna
- 10:41see what she kind of thinks about this whole situation. But you don't say
- 10:45anything, all right, I don't blow your cover. Yeah, you got
- 10:46it? All right? We got Danielle's number, correct, How this goes?
- 10:50Yep? All right, let's give her a little ring. Hello.
- 11:00Hey is this Danielle. Hey Danielle, thanks for answering. It's Pike and
- 11:05Amanda. We do a little morning radio show on Big ninety point seven here
- 11:07and far ago. Good morning something. It's not exactly a contest, Danielle,
- 11:13but we do got to tell you about something we had heard like this
- 11:16crazy rumor that's going around town. Somebody has a crush on you. This
- 11:20rumors going around town. So far, it's only in the studio, but
- 11:24we know somebody has a crush on you, and we just wanted to give
- 11:26you a call and kind of feel you out, seeing you know, maybe
- 11:30what your situation is. First of all, are you single? I am?
- 11:33Okay, off to a great start here? Would you say, you
- 11:37know what this person might be? I don't know who the person is?
- 11:43Okay, okay? Is there anybody when we said, oh, this person
- 11:46might have a crush on you're like, oh, I hope it's this person?
- 11:48Or we don't know who you're talking about? All right? What about
- 11:54like, is there anybody at work Danielle that sort of maybe catches your eye?
- 11:58No? I would never beat anyone work not. Is that like a
- 12:03firm? No? Or if there was the right person at work, maybe
- 12:07you date who are you talking about? Nobody at work? Rings any bouse?
- 12:11Somebody seems like there may be a little extra friendly over I don't know
- 12:15the last few weeks. Oh my god, what if it was Brandon?
- 12:22No hard No, sorry, oh my god, sorry, No, I
- 12:26can't date anyone that I work with. Well, okay, what if you
- 12:28guys weren't co workers that just then what I'm just not attracted to him,
- 12:33I don't that's different. Oh gosh, Okay, so you haven't been a
- 12:41nice guy. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy. This is
- 12:43where it's exactly the friend zone. Okay, So there has never been any
- 12:48spark. There's never been a little something something maybe a kiss involved or anything,
- 12:54not that I can remember. I remember going out to the office party
- 12:58once between and everyone else in the office, but I don't remember much after
- 13:03that. We drank a lot. I don't think we need to go any
- 13:07further. I think what we need to do here is just revealed to you,
- 13:09Danielle that Brandon is actually on the phone right now. He's been listening
- 13:13this whole time. You're kidding me, Brandon? Are we are we kidding
- 13:16her? Brandon? Why would you put this on the radio? I don't
- 13:24know. I could you just talk to some help? Well? Yeah,
- 13:28I thought, I don't know. I I thought that maybe it'd be good
- 13:31if we got some if I got some help from some of the people,
- 13:35because you know what, and the rest of the town. Brandon, Well,
- 13:41what about the kiss to ask her about the kiss. Maybe there wasn't
- 13:46one after all? Did you kiss me? You know it's pretty drunk,
- 13:52right, don't Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah I do. But I
- 13:56I brought you home and then you kind of like, you know, rubbed
- 13:58your arms about me. I gave you a little back on the cheek and
- 14:01I thought, oh, you know, and you didn't you like, I
- 14:05wasn't going for anything more than that. It just sort of happened, and
- 14:09I was like, oh, well, oh my god, right, okay,
- 14:15this one might need to be settled in the corner of law Brandon Danielle,
- 14:20is it safe to assume that probably nothing is going to be coming of
- 14:22this year, not for me? Oh boy, I think that answers it.
- 14:26But you guys can still be friends. Like it's gonna be awkward to
- 14:30be of we're co workers. I mean, I want to keep things professional.
- 14:33I used to understand why he had to go on the radio. This
- 14:37doesn't make any sense. You guys have a lot to talk about, I
- 14:39imagine. So if you know this is where we dip out, you guys
- 14:45have a great day at work. Should be totally normal, Yeah, right,

- 17:53here's what you need to know. Well, today is the big day.
- 17:56Governor Bergham's anticipated announcement that he is going to be running for president has been
- 18:00moved up by an hour. It was originally said for eleven thirty today,
- 18:03but it will happen at ten thirty am at the Sanctuary, Oh lovely venue.
- 18:08My bands played. They're a bunch, But that's exciting for him.
- 18:11You think it's good. I mean, there's gonna be a band playing at
- 18:14the beginning. I'm not sure. I really have never paid attention to,
- 18:18like the initial campaign. I mean, this is the first one I feel
- 18:19like we've been a part of from start too. We'll see how it finishes,
- 18:22but it'll be interesting. Who's the most like famous North Dakota band that
- 18:26could play there? Probably LS, probably LS Low Standard. I don't know
- 18:30why they didn't ask you in turned Gracie. That's very nice you to say,
- 18:33because you know, you know, you probably didn't even know I was
- 18:34in that band that was just you should slide into his DMS because maybe you
- 18:40can be a part of you know how it doesn't every president or person know
- 18:44who's campaigning, like as they're walking onto the stage in cities, like have
- 18:48a song. Yeah, I think maybe you should create that song for him.
- 18:51Okay, I think you should work now that I know you're bum go
- 18:56berg um go man. Have you ever thought of getting into songwriting? You
- 19:00know, I just let me know. I'll cut out a couple hours of
- 19:03my day if you guys need some help with LS. Just moved to Nashville.
- 19:06Girl, go for it. You got this. It's very exciting.
- 19:10I keep looking up and seeing him on the big TV with like all the
- 19:12other Republican candidates. It's got mean you gotta look quick. It's kind of
- 19:15like a little Wars wal though there's a lot of them. And speaking of
- 19:19TV, this is pretty cool, you guys. David Apple's guard a student
- 19:23at MSUM. He was on the Wheel last night. It was a college
- 19:26edition. He's a broadcast journalism major. He almost won here, raked in
- 19:30like fourteen thousand dollars in cash and prizes, a trip to Mexico. I
- 19:34wish he would have made it to the final puzzle. But either way,
- 19:37just awesome. Fourteen grand that'll cover what a semester and m sum I would
- 19:41cover almost how many classes you're taking? Yeah, okay, books, we'll
- 19:47still be about a book. What a year turned out? I mean,
- 19:49that's like an old wives Taleman. You don't really need books. I never
- 19:53bought a single one. Yeah, that's why you're we are on the radio,
- 19:56guys. This is what happens when you don't by or by On my
- 20:00fourth year on the Dean's List, you guys, so I've been doing something
- 20:04right with those books. I was on the Dean's List. My neighbor's name
- 20:08was Dean List of guys. Oh gosh, Well, we all know that
- 20:18ticks are really bad this season. Even last Weekend of the Lake, that
- 20:22is all I swore. That was like the every oh what's the weather like?
- 20:25Now it's oh, how many ticks have you had on you this season?
- 20:27Well be concerned because there's this thing and I'm gonna try to get it
- 20:30right. Baby siosis. I like to call it babosis. It is a
- 20:37lethal disease and it is spread by ticks. The CDC is warning people that
- 20:40it can actually just be mistaken for a simmer simple summer cold, so fever,
- 20:45chills, body eggs, headache. You could be getting this and it
- 20:48could be life threatening as well. So there is a treatment to medicate for
- 20:52it. If it's caught early limes disease. Usually when the tick attaches,
- 20:55it's for twenty four hours you'll get it, CDC says. With Baby Osois
- 21:00different basis that it has to be attached for thirty six to forty eight out.
- 21:06You got to make sure you get the head out too. When he
- 21:07pull those suckers out, they're just the worst. And he's got to light
- 21:11him on fire to get rid of us. And they're so hard to kill.
- 21:12I know. Don't flush him on the toyet. Somehow they're gonna crawl
- 21:15back up. But you've got they've got to be goners. Oh now I'm
- 21:19just checking ticks like I feel like they're in my hair. I ate it.
- 21:22Yeah, Sunshine to day, I have eighty five, Get out and
- 21:26enjoy. It's a kickoff to Happy Harry's Ripped Fest. We've got Wino's tonight
- 21:29pregaming before Parmally from four until six out of the grotto. What a big
- 21:33day, I know, let's go summers here, all right, you're ready
- 21:36ready that he is tying today? No, Amanda steals the tea. Let's
- 21:42see al Pacino eighty three years old, and I'm just not quite sure he
- 21:48understands there's a baby coming along. I mean, it's a very very weird
- 21:52interview from yesterday. Somebody caught up with him and asked what he was thinking.
- 21:56I mean, he's got a twenty nine year old girlfriend and there is
- 21:59a baby on the way. It always very special. I've got many kids,
- 22:10You got many kids, He's got many kids. It feels just like
- 22:14all the other ones, except for I'm eighty three. Now, yeah,
- 22:18that's tough because what do we decide? The male life expectancy is here in
- 22:22the US seventy seven, seventy seven, so he's already surpassed that, which
- 22:25is great, Like what an incredible life. Yeah, the prospects of him
- 22:27being at his kids graduation pretty low? Yeah, or I mean that's a
- 22:33little aggressive. I was going to say at the birth, but he'll probably
- 22:37hear for that, not even No, I'm just why the kid will always
- 22:41have the Godfather? What movie he was in? Good Fellas? D all
- 22:47of the above, But still just I don't like it. Kopagodian Junior had
- 22:52settled his lawsuit with a woman who accused him of raping her in a New
- 22:56York City hotel. This is about ten years ago. The suddenly comes after
- 22:57a jury selection was supposed to begin yesterday. He was I guess this girl
- 23:02was seeking about six million dollars in damages. She hired Gloria Allred as an
- 23:07attorney, and they did some sort of settlement yesterday. Nothing was disclosed other
- 23:11than I have no comment at this time. What is his name? If
- 23:17we ever determined its Cuba, it's Cuba Gooding June it is. Are we
- 23:19sure? How are you so sure that? I'm pretty sure? Because he
- 23:23said it. I thought it was Cuba, Cuba Gooding Junior at Cuba,
- 23:27Cuba, Cuba Cube. Nonetheless, he's been, you know, accused him
- 23:32some terrible things, so I don't think. I think if we misspronounce his
- 23:33name, it's fine, is that? And honestly, I think at this
- 23:37point, after all these years, people are just used to me missed pronouncing
- 23:41everything, so like whatever that girls side listen for me. I mean I
- 23:44was very used to it then, you know, after three years away it's
- 23:45like I'm just now kind of remembering. Oh yeah, that's right, Amanda.
- 23:51In words, I have my own language. Really little disconnect there,
- 23:55but that's all right. Pete Davidson, he is going to war with Peta.
- 23:59I don't think he was. I think he was just angry. He
- 24:00decided to call Peter and leave this message because they were upset that he got
- 24:06a new dog. When they called him out, they made everybody go.
- 24:07You know, the internet went nuts on him because they said it he was
- 24:11upset. Hi, my name's Pete Davidson. This message is for death now.
- 24:17Thank you so much for making comments publicly that I didn't adopt a dog.
- 24:22I just want to let you know I'm severely allergic to dogs, so
- 24:26I have to get a specific breed. I'm only not allergy to cavapoos.
- 24:30And my mom's dog, who was two years old, died a week prior,
- 24:34and we're also said, so I had to get a specific dog.
- 24:38So why don't you do your research before you and create new stories for people?
- 24:45Because you're a boring ki ye that last one down, boy, I
- 24:56mean, those are poor excuses. Couldn't you have adopted a cavapoo if it's
- 24:59the only dog you're allowed to have. I think he has some resources.
- 25:02I think you get it done. A little bit more research and I get
- 25:03Yes, it's heartbreaking you lost your dog. It was only two years old.
- 25:07That has nothing to do with your dog or rereak out on Peta.
- 25:11It's not like, you know, like people use his tragedies as an excuse,
- 25:15like, that's not why you had to go buy a cava pooh,
- 25:19Pete, Peta. I need to look up what a little cavapoo is.
- 25:25You can see why you would buy one. Got it.
