- 1:10Speaker 1: It's the greatest.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Thing since football in the Snow In Buffalo, The Buffalo
- 1:16Speaker 2: Bills are moving into a new two point two billion
- 1:19Speaker 2: dollars stadium next year, and despite Buffalo's notoriously bad weather,
- 1:24Speaker 2: it will not include a roof. It will feature a
- 1:28Speaker 2: large canopy covering about two thirds of the seats designed
- 1:32Speaker 2: to protect fans from the elements, but the Bills wanted
- 1:35Speaker 2: to keep the field exposed to the weather, which fits
- 1:38Speaker 2: the traditional Buffalo football experience. The field has been covered
- 1:43Speaker 2: with snow the last two times the Bengals have made
- 1:45Speaker 2: the trip to Western New York, and honestly, while the
- 1:49Speaker 2: temperature has been cold, the atmosphere has been really cool. Now,
- 1:54Speaker 2: let's get to the radio replays from a Sunday shootout
- 1:58Speaker 2: that felt like a playoff game this afternoon on a
- 2:02Speaker 2: snowy and cold day in Buffalo. It is Joe and
- 2:07Speaker 2: Josh Burrow and Alan As, two of the NFL's best
- 2:12Speaker 2: quarterback square off in a game with high stakes for
- 2:16Speaker 2: both teams. It's the Bengals and Bills, and it is
- 2:19Speaker 2: time for the pig skin to fly here at high
- 2:22Speaker 2: Mark Stadium, play.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Number fourteen coming up.
- 2:26Speaker 2: More than half of the first quarter is gone and
- 2:28Speaker 2: Cincinnati has it first in goal at the Buffalo five
- 2:31Speaker 2: shotgun snap, Burrow hands it off, Chase Brown looked to
- 2:35Speaker 2: bounce it wide. Goodn't do it now, just fights toward
- 2:37Speaker 2: the goal lines. He's close. No signal yet there it
- 2:41Speaker 2: is touchdown Bengals as Chase Brown went low, kept the
- 2:46Speaker 2: legs churning, and took it over the goal line for
- 2:50Speaker 2: an opening touchdown.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, Dan, that was an unbelievable drive.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Buffalo settles for a field goal attempt. It'll be forty
- 2:56Speaker 2: one year old Matt Prater again under slippery, snowy conditions,
- 3:02Speaker 2: attempting a twenty six yard kick from the right hash.
- 3:06Speaker 2: The hold is good, the right footed kick on its way.
- 3:09Speaker 2: It is good, yep, and Buffalo scores, but settles for
- 3:13Speaker 2: three after driving to the five yard live Chase Brown
- 3:17Speaker 2: in the backfield. On second and two, Burrow drops straight
- 3:19Speaker 2: back to throw, looking firing for the end zone. T
- 3:22Speaker 2: Higgins reaches out, craps the ball. Touchdown. Bengals. Burrow to
- 3:29Speaker 2: Higgins a twenty one yard touchdown, and just as they
- 3:34Speaker 2: did in the playoffs in January of twenty three, the
- 3:38Speaker 2: Bengals scored touchdowns on their first two possessions.
- 3:41Speaker 3: And I cannot believe that Joe Burrow through that ball
- 3:44Speaker 3: to T Higgins. I did not think that it had
- 3:46Speaker 3: a chance.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Alan in the gun on fourth and four. He catches
- 3:51Speaker 2: the shotgun snap, looking moving to his right, Alan being
- 3:54Speaker 2: chased by bj Hill. He throws and it's caught in
- 3:58Speaker 2: the end zone by Shit kir As.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Josh Allen buys time and.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Throws a frozen rope to Khalil Shakir for the Buffalo touchdown.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Unbelievable. I mean, Shakier was obviously looking for the football.
- 4:12Speaker 3: The Bengals had three defenders in the area and none
- 4:15Speaker 3: of them. We're looking for the football. You're gonna turn
- 4:18Speaker 3: and find the football.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Burro winning for a shotgun snap.
- 4:20Speaker 2: He catches, He's looking left, scans the field, pump fakes,
- 4:23Speaker 2: looks right, scrambles right, throws toward the pylon, coming back
- 4:27Speaker 2: to the ball, sliding for the catch. Yes, Chase Brown,
- 4:31Speaker 2: and they are going to give him the catch and
- 4:34Speaker 2: say he was short of the goal line.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It's gonna be spotted inside the one.
- 4:39Speaker 2: The Bengals threw the red challenge flag and after looking
- 4:42Speaker 2: at the replay, it has been changed to a Cincinnati touchdown.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Joe Burrow's second touchdown pass of the game. Kincaid motions
- 4:49Speaker 2: out to the right, Alan back to throw fires A
- 4:52Speaker 2: pass caught by Kincaid got inside of Dj Turner and
- 4:57Speaker 2: made the catch for the Buffalo touchdown and under center.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Cook is the running back back at the nine. They
- 5:02Speaker 2: hand it off to James Cook, a knifs forward. The
- 5:06Speaker 2: ball comes out run the Bengals every cupboard in the
- 5:10Speaker 2: end zone. Oh my goodness, James Cook spin up the
- 5:15Speaker 2: pig and Oran Burks comes away with a football.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Jamar Chase out to the left.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Burrow, under pressure, moves forward throws into the end zone.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Taught by Mike Kasiki. Touchdown Bengals. A twelve yard touch
- 5:31Speaker 2: pass by Joe Burrow and the Bengals go up by
- 5:35Speaker 2: two scores in the fourth quarter and.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Mike Kasicki dons the gritty honored Jamar.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Chase seven forty one to go. Cincinnati leads by ten points. Allen,
- 5:46Speaker 2: facing a blitz, gets away from Cedric Johnson sprinting to
- 5:50Speaker 2: the thirty twenty ten five touchdown. Wow, forty yards on
- 5:56Speaker 2: the run for Josh Allen as Cincinnati blitz and ran
- 6:01Speaker 2: right by him.
- 6:01Speaker 4: They did, they did?
- 6:03Speaker 3: I mean it's like locate the quarterback find the football,
- 6:08Speaker 3: don't just run off into space.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Two tight ends in the game for Cincinnati, Burrow screens
- 6:14Speaker 2: it out to the right, picked off by Buffalo running
- 6:17Speaker 2: it back Christian Benford being chased by Jamar Chase. H's
- 6:22Speaker 2: a touchdown for the Buffalo Bills. Burrow tried to throw
- 6:26Speaker 2: a screen and Benford, coming from the edge, jumped up,
- 6:31Speaker 2: picked it off and ran it to the house for
- 6:34Speaker 2: a go ahead Buffalo touchdown.
- 6:37Speaker 4: And Joe Burrow can't believe it.
- 6:38Speaker 3: He's going to the sideline shaking his head like I
- 6:41Speaker 3: can't believe what I just saw.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Bengals can keep their hopes alive if they can get
- 6:45Speaker 2: a stop on fourth down in goal from the three.
- 6:48Speaker 2: The Bills line up in an I formation. The full
- 6:50Speaker 2: back is Gilliam, the tailback is Cooked. Alan is under center,
- 6:54Speaker 2: knocks check that it was a different tight end Haws
- 6:57Speaker 2: who went in motion. Alan pump fakes, begins scrambling, throws caught.
- 7:01Speaker 1: It is caught by Hawes. It's a touchdown.
- 7:05Speaker 2: It's a tight end, and it's a two score lead
- 7:08Speaker 2: for the Buffalo Bills. Higgins out to the right, Chase
- 7:11Speaker 2: out to the left. Burrow throws it deep t Higgins.
- 7:14Speaker 1: In the end zone.
- 7:15Speaker 2: One hand touch with the right hand, touchdown, Bengals twenty
- 7:21Speaker 2: five yards.
- 7:22Speaker 1: T Higgins with his.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Second touchdown catch of the game. The Bengals are not
- 7:28Speaker 2: dead yet. Alan touching his rib area. That's a signal
- 7:33Speaker 2: to the receiver out to the left. Alan back to
- 7:35Speaker 2: throw pump fakes, begins scrambling middle of the field. He
- 7:39Speaker 2: is close to the first down. He's got it. Then
- 7:41Speaker 2: Buffalo is going to win the game. Josh Allen on
- 7:44Speaker 2: third and fifteen scrambles for a seventeen yard game and
- 7:49Speaker 2: the Bengals could not stop the clock.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yeah, there's no way the Bengals can do anything about it. Now.
- 7:54Speaker 3: The Buffalo Bills are celebrating. They're celebrating on the sideline
- 7:59Speaker 3: and they're on the field.
- 8:02Speaker 2: The final score Buffalo thirty nine, Cincinnati thirty four. The
- 8:05Speaker 2: Bengals led for most of the game and had a
- 8:08Speaker 2: ten point lead with less than eight minutes to go
- 8:11Speaker 2: before three plays a little more than two minutes apart,
- 8:15Speaker 2: swung the game in Buffalo's favor. First a forty yard
- 8:19Speaker 2: touchdown run by quarterback Josh Allen, then a sixty three
- 8:24Speaker 2: yard pick six by Christian Benford that gave the Bills
- 8:28Speaker 2: their first lead of the game with five point twenty
- 8:29Speaker 2: five to go, followed immediately by a tipped pass interception
- 8:34Speaker 2: by aj Epanessa that put Buffalo in the driver's seat
- 8:38Speaker 2: for good. Here are Joe Burrow and Zach Taylor.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Great plays by them. Corner blitz and you know, trying
- 8:47Speaker 5: to throw a hot reaction and the guy jumps up
- 8:49Speaker 5: and catches it.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Great play.
- 8:51Speaker 5: Next one tipball lands in the run that guy's hands,
- 8:55Speaker 5: So yeah, good plays by that.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Forty seven just made an outstanding point. That's a big
- 9:00Speaker 6: time point in this league. He's playing with a lot
- 9:02Speaker 6: of confidence. You don't see a lot of guys be
- 9:05Speaker 6: able to make that, and he did it. Man credit him.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Burrow threw for two hundred and eighty four yards and
- 9:11Speaker 2: four touchdowns with a passer rating of one oh six
- 9:14Speaker 2: point seven. Jamar Chase went over one thousand receiving yards
- 9:18Speaker 2: for the year, becoming the fifth player in history to
- 9:20Speaker 2: top one thousand in each of his first five seasons,
- 9:24Speaker 2: a list that also includes AJ Green. Mike Kasiki had
- 9:28Speaker 2: his best game of the season with six sketches for
- 9:31Speaker 2: eighty six yards and a touchdown. And then there's t
- 9:35Speaker 2: Higgins after missing the Thanksgiving night game while he recovered
- 9:38Speaker 2: from a concussion, t came back with six catches for
- 9:42Speaker 2: ninety two yards and two touchdowns despite several hard landings
- 9:47Speaker 2: on the snow covered turf. Tea discussed a tough loss
- 9:51Speaker 2: in front of his locker after the game.
- 9:55Speaker 7: Yeah, man, it's very frustrating. Obviously, nobody wants to lose,
- 9:58Speaker 7: especially when he was up the whole game. Uh, those
- 10:01Speaker 7: last two turnovers, you know it cost us. Can't have those,
- 10:05Speaker 7: but you gotta get a fixed can be better next week.
- 10:07Speaker 2: The way you guys started touchdown drives on your first
- 10:10Speaker 2: three possessions, did it feel like that playoff game all
- 10:12Speaker 2: over again? The way that you came out and really
- 10:15Speaker 2: dominated early.
- 10:16Speaker 7: Yeah, man, it felt good. You know, we just gotta
- 10:19Speaker 7: keep putting the pressure on you know. You know obviously
- 10:21Speaker 7: I got you said to him, Uh, those two turnovers
- 10:24Speaker 7: at the end cost us. Uh, we can't have those
- 10:26Speaker 7: and just keep putting pressure on them and you know,
- 10:28Speaker 7: try to find a win.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Wasn't that case really where those turnovers were Bengals mistakes?
- 10:32Speaker 2: I mean, Christian Benford, that was a great play, right, Uh, God.
- 10:35Speaker 7: Made a hell of a play. You know, so you know,
- 10:38Speaker 7: I get gotta get pros. Where whereas when it's due. Uh,
- 10:40Speaker 7: he made a hell of a play and made a
- 10:41Speaker 7: good ball. They good play on the ball, so you know,
- 10:44Speaker 7: and then you know the second one, you know, got tipped.
- 10:46Speaker 7: You know, tips and overthrows. You know, it's it's tough,
- 10:50Speaker 7: so it's gotta be better.
- 10:51Speaker 8: How tough as a t when you see what the
- 10:53Speaker 8: offense looks like when you have everybody and you guys
- 10:56Speaker 8: who out to score thirty plus points, that it might
- 10:59Speaker 8: be too late in the season to get to where
- 11:01Speaker 8: you wanna go.
- 11:02Speaker 7: Uh, it's tough, you know. You know, we definitely wanted
- 11:05Speaker 7: this win today. Uh, but didn't happen.
- 11:08Speaker 8: So we we know you came back from the concussion
- 11:11Speaker 8: net to missing last week. He took some hard falls,
- 11:15Speaker 8: landing on the ground awkwardly. How difficult was it for
- 11:17Speaker 8: you to make it all the way through this game?
- 11:21Speaker 7: No, I'm a I'm a soldier, know what I mean?
- 11:23Speaker 7: So soldiers take hits. You know, it happens. It's football.
- 11:27Speaker 7: It's the name of the game. Uh, you gotta get
- 11:30Speaker 7: up next play mentality, was there a.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Thought, you know, given the history of you saying hey,
- 11:34Speaker 3: you know, maybe wanna not playing this given what happened.
- 11:36Speaker 9: I mean, how much did you think about maybe sitting
- 11:38Speaker 9: out the rest of the game.
- 11:39Speaker 7: Didn't think about that at all? Why cause I'm a
- 11:41Speaker 7: I'm a I'm a team first guy, you know what
- 11:42Speaker 7: I mean? Uh, my team need to me, you know,
- 11:44Speaker 7: I feel like they did. So I went out there
- 11:45Speaker 7: and played and try to dog this out with my team.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I heard Jamar say to you before the game, Hey,
- 11:50Speaker 2: the weather's not bad. What was it like out there
- 11:53Speaker 2: for you guys?
- 11:54Speaker 7: Snow cold? To me, I don't like the snow.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Which Jabari trying to convince. Do you think that it's
- 12:01Speaker 1: not so bad?
- 12:02Speaker 7: Nah? I just think the thing he was saying that
- 12:04Speaker 7: because it was a little coda in Baltimore, So that's
- 12:07Speaker 7: probably Well.
- 12:08Speaker 8: What one had a touchdown catch is that just team
- 12:10Speaker 8: needs to play, gotta make it.
- 12:11Speaker 7: I mean, yeah, you know we knew when when when
- 12:15Speaker 7: it was caught. I knew somebody who was gonna have
- 12:17Speaker 7: to make a play. So whether it came to me
- 12:18Speaker 7: or somebody else play, what had to be made.
- 12:20Speaker 2: So what's the toughest part about.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Losing this week?
- 12:23Speaker 7: We needed to win to you know, have better chances
- 12:26Speaker 7: of you know, making it. It makes it hard, you
- 12:29Speaker 7: know what I mean. We got to come back, you know,
- 12:31Speaker 7: watch the film, correct what we did wrong, and just
- 12:34Speaker 7: try to be better next week.
- 12:36Speaker 2: The loss dropped Cincinnati to four and nine, and since
- 12:38Speaker 2: Pittsburgh beat Baltimore, the Bengals are three behind the Steelers
- 12:42Speaker 2: and two behind the Ravens. With four games to go,
- 12:46Speaker 2: their playoff hopes are dangling by a thread. Here again
- 12:50Speaker 2: are Joe Burrow and Zach Taylor.
- 12:52Speaker 5: Yeah, obviously we're not where we want to be, as
- 12:55Speaker 5: you know a team or organization. Four and nine is
- 12:58Speaker 5: not not good. But we got four games to go
- 13:05Speaker 5: and show high level execution, high level play, playmaking. I'm
- 13:10Speaker 5: gonna realize the opportunity to to go out and play
- 13:13Speaker 5: play with these guys and continue to try to put
- 13:17Speaker 5: on a show for for everybody watching. I hope that,
- 13:19Speaker 5: uh that comes across, and I hope that, uh. I know,
- 13:24Speaker 5: I'm going to continue to work hard to put myself
- 13:26Speaker 5: in a good position to make plays.
- 13:28Speaker 6: Just keep picking each other up. It was it was
- 13:30Speaker 6: a hard off our game. We had our moments, they
- 13:32Speaker 6: had a couple more. Still believe in these guys, and
- 13:36Speaker 6: and again we're gonna have to. I know we're up
- 13:38Speaker 6: against the wall here with with whatever our opportunities are,
- 13:40Speaker 6: but we got a big home game this week and
- 13:42Speaker 6: the divisions, We've got to be able to pick ourselves
- 13:44Speaker 6: up and find a way to go respond.
- 13:45Speaker 5: That's how the cookie crumbled this year.
- 13:47Speaker 2: You know.
- 13:48Speaker 5: Obviously I would have loved to have been out there
- 13:51Speaker 5: more and and be able to make an impact, but
- 13:56Speaker 5: that wasn't the case. And you know, I found my
- 13:59Speaker 5: found my butt off to to get back to the
- 14:00Speaker 5: spot and to be able to be out there with
- 14:03Speaker 5: everybody and for our organization in the city. So that's
- 14:06Speaker 5: what we're going to continue to do. I take it
- 14:10Speaker 5: very seriously. I love what I do and I'm going
- 14:14Speaker 5: to continue.
- 14:15Speaker 1: To do it.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Sunday's loss ended a streak of eight straight wins with
- 14:18Speaker 2: Burroughs starting at quarterback, and unfortunately, it was another loss
- 14:22Speaker 2: where scoring thirty three or more points was not enough
- 14:25Speaker 2: for the Bengals to come away with a win. The
- 14:28Speaker 2: Bengals have had seven such losses over the last two years.
- 14:32Speaker 2: The Bengals Booth podcast is brought to you by pay Corps,
- 14:35Speaker 2: proud to be the Bengals official HR software provider by
- 14:39Speaker 2: Alta Fiber future proof fiber Internet designed to elevate your home, business,
- 14:43Speaker 2: and community to a new level, and by Kettering Health
- 14:47Speaker 2: the best care for the best fans. Kettering Health is
- 14:50Speaker 2: the official healthcare provider.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Of the Bengals. Now time for the radio guys recap lap.
- 14:58Speaker 2: The tough thing for me is that I think of
- 15:00Speaker 2: the last two weeks we've seen with Joe Burrow at quarterback,
- 15:03Speaker 2: the Bengals can compete and beat anybody, And unfortunately, because
- 15:08Speaker 2: of how they did while he was out, they're probably
- 15:11Speaker 2: not going to get their chance in the postseason.
- 15:14Speaker 10: You're right, Dan, they put their backs up against the
- 15:16Speaker 10: wall with inconsistent play. I guess that's the kindest way
- 15:19Speaker 10: to put it. I just didn't finish well enough without
- 15:24Speaker 10: Joe Burrow at the helm. But as we've seen since
- 15:27Speaker 10: his return, he is straw that serves the drink. There
- 15:30Speaker 10: is no question about that. He lifts the entire boat.
- 15:34Speaker 10: I mean, Offensively, they play at a very high level. Defensively,
- 15:38Speaker 10: they have more confidence that they're going to be in
- 15:40Speaker 10: every football game for the entire football game. And then
- 15:43Speaker 10: special teams, you know, wants to make their contributions and
- 15:46Speaker 10: take some pressure off the offense and defense as well.
- 15:48Speaker 10: So yeah, I mean, he's a phenomenal player. He's one
- 15:54Speaker 10: of the best in the National Football League and at
- 15:56Speaker 10: the quarterback position. I really do think he's the best.
- 16:00Speaker 2: The game turned on the pick six by Christian Benford
- 16:02Speaker 2: in the fourth quarter. To me, that is a tip
- 16:05Speaker 2: your cap to the other team play. Joe tried to
- 16:08Speaker 2: lob it over him, Benford jumped up, made a great catch,
- 16:11Speaker 2: ran it to the house. Unfortunately, sometimes good players on
- 16:15Speaker 2: other teams make good plays.
- 16:16Speaker 10: Bingo, you're right there, and that sums it up. I mean,
- 16:19Speaker 10: Paul Brown, you know, I remember when I was a rookie,
- 16:23Speaker 10: Paul Brown standing up and say, hey, those other guys
- 16:25Speaker 10: get paid to play too, you know, and they're gonna
- 16:27Speaker 10: make plays that will win football games for their for
- 16:30Speaker 10: their football team. And that was a that was a
- 16:34Speaker 10: very very he made a he made a tremendous play.
- 16:36Speaker 10: You tip your cap to the guy and say, all right,
- 16:38Speaker 10: well that didn't go well, Let's see if we can
- 16:41Speaker 10: turn this thing around. And uh, and certainly don't quit.
- 16:43Speaker 10: That's the one thing I think about this football team
- 16:46Speaker 10: is is, uh, these guys just don't quit. Then they
- 16:49Speaker 10: haven't never say die attitude. They they believe in each other.
- 16:52Speaker 10: They play for each other. You know, they're very close.
- 16:56Speaker 10: There's a tremendous bond on this football team, players, coaches,
- 17:00Speaker 10: coaches and players, players and coaches.
- 17:03Speaker 4: It's a it's a fun group to cover, for sure.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Tight Ends on the other team continue to kill the Bengals.
- 17:09Speaker 2: That's been the case this year, It's really seems to
- 17:11Speaker 2: have been the case for several years. They're giving up
- 17:14Speaker 2: more yards and touchdowns to tight ends by far than
- 17:17Speaker 2: any other team in the NFL? Is that largely rookie
- 17:21Speaker 2: linebackers not recognizing that quickly enough? Is it is its scheme?
- 17:25Speaker 2: Is it safeties? I mean what stands out in that
- 17:28Speaker 2: regard to you?
- 17:28Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean you've hit it all, Dan, And I
- 17:30Speaker 10: think it is kind of a mix of all of it.
- 17:34Speaker 10: You know, I do think rookie linebackers are that that's
- 17:37Speaker 10: a factor because a lot of these tight ends have
- 17:40Speaker 10: been around for a while and they know what they're doing,
- 17:42Speaker 10: and they're very very clever the way they run routes,
- 17:45Speaker 10: and coaches are very clever the way they utilize them
- 17:49Speaker 10: in their offensive schematics. So it is a challenge I mean,
- 17:53Speaker 10: it's a it's a challenge. You play high school and
- 17:55Speaker 10: college football. You don't see guys like this when you
- 17:59Speaker 10: when you at that at that level of football. So
- 18:02Speaker 10: there is an adjustment period. But they're gonna have to
- 18:04Speaker 10: grow up fast.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Man.
- 18:05Speaker 10: There's only four games left for them to, you know,
- 18:08Speaker 10: change this, and hopefully they can change it and be
- 18:12Speaker 10: part of the reason that the team goes on a
- 18:14Speaker 10: four game run and finishes eight to nine and still
- 18:17Speaker 10: cross his fingers and toes and hopes they make a
- 18:19Speaker 10: playoff opportunity.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I mean, if nothing else, with those two rookie linebackers,
- 18:24Speaker 2: you want to reach the end of this season saying Okay,
- 18:26Speaker 2: we're good at that position weekend devote draft capital and
- 18:30Speaker 2: free agency to other positions on defense.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm not sure that we're there yet.
- 18:35Speaker 10: I agree, I agree, and uh, you know, I'm sure
- 18:39Speaker 10: the young linebackers don't want to hear that, but it's reality,
- 18:42Speaker 10: and they better. They better realize that. They better, you know,
- 18:46Speaker 10: I realize that there's there's miles to go before they rest.
- 18:50Speaker 10: There's a lot of work to do, and they're capable.
- 18:54Speaker 10: They're good workers, they're intelligent guys. I don't think it's
- 18:58Speaker 10: too big for them. I think that they've shown that
- 19:01Speaker 10: they belong now they just have to take it to
- 19:03Speaker 10: another level.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Big thumbs up to t Higgins today coming back from
- 19:08Speaker 2: the concussion, he had a lot of hard collisions to
- 19:11Speaker 2: the ground and collisions with Buffalo Bill's players, went into
- 19:15Speaker 2: the blue medical tent at one point, just kept coming
- 19:17Speaker 2: back for more two touchdown catches. The last one, the
- 19:21Speaker 2: one handed catch that kept the Bengals alive, was absolutely spectacular.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Te Higgins is a warrior.
- 19:26Speaker 4: He's a warrior.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Dan.
- 19:27Speaker 10: I took my cap to the guy. I mean, he
- 19:29Speaker 10: went out there and he fought. He fought tooth and nail. Man,
- 19:32Speaker 10: he battled hard every single snap and most snaps when
- 19:36Speaker 10: you're dinged up, I can tell you from experience, man,
- 19:39Speaker 10: it's hard to go out there and and compete and
- 19:43Speaker 10: perform at the highest level. You know, your highest level
- 19:45Speaker 10: isn't what it can't it should would be if you
- 19:49Speaker 10: weren't dinged up. So but there's a lot of pride.
- 19:52Speaker 10: You know, you don't want to spit the bit. You
- 19:55Speaker 10: want to play. You're paid to play. You paid a
- 19:56Speaker 10: lot of money to play. T Higgins falls into that
- 19:59Speaker 10: category and He's very prideful of his football game. I
- 20:04Speaker 10: think he's an unquestioned one of the leaders of this
- 20:06Speaker 10: football team.
- 20:08Speaker 2: You've got fifty years of Bengals experience under your belt
- 20:11Speaker 2: between playing and broadcasting. You've been following the NFL longer
- 20:14Speaker 2: than that. How much of a unicorn is Josh Allen
- 20:18Speaker 2: he is?
- 20:19Speaker 10: That's a good term for him. He's a different cat man.
- 20:22Speaker 10: I mean, six or four plus, maybe closer to six'
- 20:26Speaker 10: five turndred and thirty five hundred and forty pounds can,
- 20:29Speaker 10: run you.
- 20:31Speaker 4: KNOW i just think the thing that makes him so
- 20:36Speaker 4: unique though he's.
- 20:37Speaker 10: A big specimen at the quarterback pos issue is one
- 20:39Speaker 10: of the bigger ones that there ever has been in
- 20:41Speaker 10: The National Football. League but, man his FOOTBALL iq is so.
- 20:45Speaker 10: HIGH i, mean He's. Menza he sees things before they.
- 20:48Speaker 10: Happen he prepares, hard loves the game of. Football he's
- 20:53Speaker 10: a he's a football. Warriors he's everything you. Want and
- 20:58Speaker 10: The Buffalo, BILLS i know They're they're thrilled and happy
- 21:01Speaker 10: to have nessa, sure.
- 21:02Speaker 2: And his size is helpful because the guy doesn't get
- 21:06Speaker 2: hurt as often as he, runs as often as he gets,
- 21:09Speaker 2: hit he hasn't missed the. START i don't think since
- 21:11Speaker 2: his rookie.
- 21:11Speaker 4: YEAR i agree with.
- 21:13Speaker 10: YOU i, mean durability is a is a big factor
- 21:16Speaker 10: in how you're thought of and regarded as a football,
- 21:20Speaker 10: player and his durability is. UNQUESTIONED i, mean his teammates
- 21:25Speaker 10: know they can count on. Him he knows that they
- 21:28Speaker 10: they they that they can that he can count on.
- 21:32Speaker 10: Them AND i think they're they're a good football. Team
- 21:36Speaker 10: they're they're gonna make some noise as the season closes out.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Here it's been several years since The bengals were in
- 21:43Speaker 2: a position where they played games late in the season
- 21:46Speaker 2: with no chance of making the. Playoffs and they're not there.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Yet they still mathematically have a, chance but they could
- 21:51Speaker 2: be eliminated. Soon you were in those situations a few
- 21:55Speaker 2: times in your. Career how hard is that when you
- 21:58Speaker 2: don't even have a puncher's chance of getting.
- 22:01Speaker 4: In miserable nothing.
- 22:04Speaker 10: WORSE i, mean you, know it's like you're you're working
- 22:08Speaker 10: hard all week and your you, know your goal is
- 22:12Speaker 10: to win the football. Game but even if you win
- 22:15Speaker 10: the football, game isn't going to be enough because now
- 22:17Speaker 10: you have to, scoreboard watch and what are other teams?
- 22:20Speaker 10: Doing and you you back yourself into that. Corner that's
- 22:23Speaker 10: a tough dyamics. Man it's it's hard to hard to
- 22:26Speaker 10: crawl crawl out of, that out of that. Situation you
- 22:29Speaker 10: don't want to put yourself in that. Situation BUT i.
- 22:32Speaker 10: DO i do think again that these, guys they're gonna
- 22:35Speaker 10: play every, Snap they're not gonna say hell with, it you,
- 22:38Speaker 10: know let's just close it up for next, Year let's
- 22:41Speaker 10: just close up. SHOP i don't think there's one guy
- 22:43Speaker 10: in that locker room and feels that.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Way did this feel like a playoff?
- 22:46Speaker 4: Game do? You you?
- 22:48Speaker 10: Know it was a lot of guys said. THAT a
- 22:51Speaker 10: lot of guys said, that you know, that the the
- 22:55Speaker 10: way it, unfolded the, atmosphere the, crowd the. Weather you,
- 23:00Speaker 10: know they were, like it felt like a nationally televised playoff.
- 23:03Speaker 10: Game you, know it did to me a little bit.
- 23:06Speaker 10: TOO i thought it was a well played. GAME i
- 23:08Speaker 10: thought THE nfl is going to be proud of what
- 23:11Speaker 10: the performance that everybody put on out in that football.
- 23:14Speaker 10: Field SO i DO i think it had some playoff
- 23:21Speaker 10: playoff field to, it for.
- 23:22Speaker 2: SURE i definitely felt that. Way it was a, thrilling
- 23:25Speaker 2: exciting game with a disappointing. Ending see if The bengals
- 23:28Speaker 2: can go home and beat The ravens for the second
- 23:30Speaker 2: time in three games next.
- 23:31Speaker 10: WEEK i like the sounds of. That it might ring,
- 23:33Speaker 10: hollow but beating The Baltimore ravens two times in three
- 23:36Speaker 10: weeks that dog will hunt all day every.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Day The ravens will obviously be. Desperate they've dropped too
- 23:44Speaker 2: straight to follow a game Behind pittsburgh with four to,
- 23:47Speaker 2: Go baltimore opens is a two and a half point
- 23:51Speaker 2: favorite Next, sunday despite losing it home by eighteen to
- 23:54Speaker 2: The bengals a week and a half. Ago that's a
- 23:57Speaker 2: wrap on The buffalo. Game now for this week's Fun facts,
- 24:01Speaker 2: conversation where we get to know a forty year old
- 24:05Speaker 2: quarterback who is the oldest player In bengals. History time
- 24:10Speaker 2: for some fun facts With Joe flacco From, Audubon New,
- 24:13Speaker 2: jersey which is basically a suburb Of. Philly just cross
- 24:17Speaker 2: The Delaware river and you're. There you're from a big.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Family how big and what did your folks do for a?
- 24:23Speaker 9: Living i'm the oldest of, six got four brothers and a.
- 24:28Speaker 9: Sister my mom stayed at home and, was you, know
- 24:33Speaker 9: responsible for raising us and the people we are and
- 24:37Speaker 9: basically running the entire. Family and then my dad had
- 24:41Speaker 9: his own mortgage business with a couple.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Guys i'm one of, five SO i can identify with
- 24:46Speaker 2: what your mom did for the. Family you're six.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Six where did you get your?
- 24:49Speaker 9: Height i'm not. Sure we joke, around you, know old
- 24:53Speaker 9: fashioned the. Milkman you. Know my mom's, like you, know
- 24:58Speaker 9: like five, six maybe she's five. Seven my dad's maybe
- 25:01Speaker 9: five or, Eleven so not quite sure where it comes.
- 25:04Speaker 2: From did you have to work hard at being good
- 25:08Speaker 2: at sports or did it pretty much come. NATURALLY i
- 25:11Speaker 2: think you always.
- 25:12Speaker 9: HAD i think when you have an interest in sports
- 25:15Speaker 9: from an early, age you just naturally work hard at.
- 25:17Speaker 9: It it's just what you like to. Do so it's
- 25:20Speaker 9: tough to. SAY i feel Like i've always been good at.
- 25:22Speaker 9: IT i feel like it came. Naturally but at the same,
- 25:26Speaker 9: Time i've always been interested in, it so it was
- 25:28Speaker 9: something THAT i was always, doing always. Developing so, yeah
- 25:32Speaker 9: it's tough to probably.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Say, honestly you started your college football career At Pitt
- 25:37Speaker 2: you read shirted your first, year and then you were
- 25:39Speaker 2: a backup your second. Year is that what you expected
- 25:42Speaker 2: or were you disappointed that you didn't get a faster.
- 25:45Speaker 2: OPPORTUNITY i don't know exactly WHAT i.
- 25:47Speaker 9: EXPECTED i probably expected to go in and start as
- 25:51Speaker 9: as quickly AS i. Can at some, POINT i was
- 25:53Speaker 9: hoping to get an. OPPORTUNITY i THINK i was not,
- 25:58Speaker 9: okay but okay with my second year of being WHERE i.
- 26:01Speaker 9: Was but by that third, YEAR i really WANTED i
- 26:03Speaker 9: really wanted to be playing football and it wasn't looking
- 26:06Speaker 9: like that was going to. Happen and that's kind of
- 26:08Speaker 9: what led to go to to go To. Delaware why
- 26:10Speaker 9: did you Choose? Delaware, well, REALLY i mean there was
- 26:13Speaker 9: no portal back in the, day AND i got, recruited but,
- 26:16Speaker 9: LIKE i wasn't like a huge, recruit so it was
- 26:19Speaker 9: tough to really find out if anybody wanted. Me and
- 26:22Speaker 9: you know, what my it wasn't LIKE i really had
- 26:24Speaker 9: very many options or a decision to. Make But delaware
- 26:27Speaker 9: was a team that recruited me a little bit out
- 26:28Speaker 9: of high school as a smaller school that probably understood
- 26:30Speaker 9: THAT i wasn't going to go. There But Casey keeler
- 26:34Speaker 9: was known for kind of getting some, transfers and my
- 26:36Speaker 9: high school coach my senior year played for. Him played
- 26:40Speaker 9: For casey At. ROWAN i don't know if it Was
- 26:42Speaker 9: rowing then Or Glassborough state In South, jersey so there
- 26:45Speaker 9: was a little bit of a connection, there AND i
- 26:46Speaker 9: kind of found out that they were interested in having
- 26:48Speaker 9: me and ended up like late, summer you, know deciding
- 26:52Speaker 9: to go there really because at that point it was
- 26:54Speaker 9: the only, option you, know but they did have a
- 26:57Speaker 9: rich tradition in, football and you, know the state Of
- 27:00Speaker 9: delaware cares a lot about The Blue, hens so it
- 27:02Speaker 9: was a cool place to.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Go you had a lot of success. There you took
- 27:06Speaker 2: the team to The National Championship game and caught the
- 27:08Speaker 2: eyes obviously OF nfl. Scouts you went to The Senior,
- 27:11Speaker 2: bowl you went to the scouting. Combine when did you
- 27:14Speaker 2: realize that you were just as good as the quarterbacks
- 27:17Speaker 2: from the bigger.
- 27:17Speaker 9: SCHOOLS i think there's times where your confidence can kind of,
- 27:22Speaker 9: like you, know maybe you start to question things a little.
- 27:25Speaker 9: Bit BUT i THINK i had a good kind OF.
- 27:30Speaker 4: I don't.
- 27:30Speaker 9: KNOW i THINK i had a good foundation to kind
- 27:32Speaker 9: of still believe in. Myself SO i remember transferring Thinking,
- 27:36Speaker 9: okay maybe you're not going to, be you, know a
- 27:38Speaker 9: high draft, pick but still BELIEVING i had the ability
- 27:43Speaker 9: to go to the next level and just having to
- 27:46Speaker 9: get out there and prove that and see where that took.
- 27:49Speaker 9: ME i never looked at it as, like, Oh i'm
- 27:53Speaker 9: as good as these, guys Or i'm.
- 27:54Speaker 4: As good as that.
- 27:54Speaker 9: GUY i just always believed in myself and BELIEVE i
- 27:57Speaker 9: had the ability to do. It and LIKE i, said
- 28:00Speaker 9: WHEN i transferred down a, LEVEL i fel LIKE i
- 28:02Speaker 9: felt like it'd probably be a different path than MAYBE i.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Imagined and then.
- 28:08Speaker 9: After my junior, year like the second half of my junior,
- 28:10Speaker 9: YEAR i think we really started to hit a. Stride you,
- 28:12Speaker 9: know we didn't really have a great record that, year
- 28:14Speaker 9: but we really did to kind of start to find
- 28:16Speaker 9: an identity and figure out who we were.
- 28:18Speaker 4: As a football.
- 28:18Speaker 9: Team AND i think we kind of rode that into
- 28:20Speaker 9: my senior year and had a really good year and
- 28:21Speaker 9: a lot of really good players in that, team AND
- 28:25Speaker 9: i was able to capitalize on. IT i think by
- 28:27Speaker 9: the end of my junior, year the fact THAT i
- 28:29Speaker 9: was kind of like getting hit hit up by some
- 28:31Speaker 9: agents and, STUFF i knew there'd be some. Interest and
- 28:33Speaker 9: then by the you, know by the end of my senior,
- 28:35Speaker 9: YEAR i was feeling pretty GOOD i was going to
- 28:37Speaker 9: be picked. Somewhere you still don't. KNOW i MEAN i
- 28:39Speaker 9: was a small school, kid and you DON'T i didn't
- 28:41Speaker 9: KNOW i was going to be picked WHERE i, was
- 28:43Speaker 9: even on even the day it. Happened BUT i do
- 28:46Speaker 9: count myself fortunate just for ending ending up At delaware
- 28:50Speaker 9: the TIME i ended up, there because playing quarterback is
- 28:52Speaker 9: so much about the guys around, you AND i happened
- 28:55Speaker 9: to BE i happened to get there when we had
- 28:56Speaker 9: a really good running, back some really good wide, receivers
- 28:59Speaker 9: a really good offense of, line and that really helped.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Me you wound up being the eighteenth pick in the
- 29:05Speaker 2: draft By, baltimore the second quarterback selected your. Year what
- 29:10Speaker 2: was it like to get that phone call From Ozzie?
- 29:11Speaker 9: Newsom getting that call was. SURREAL i, mean sitting there
- 29:15Speaker 9: with your family and something that you've kind of envisioned
- 29:20Speaker 9: since you can, remember and probably wasn't as really AS
- 29:23Speaker 9: i think it. Was but from the TIME i can,
- 29:25Speaker 9: remember you, KNOW i wanted to be a professional. Athlete you,
- 29:28Speaker 9: know probably started with baseball and went to football and
- 29:31Speaker 9: baseball and ended up at. Football so to get that
- 29:35Speaker 9: call is obviously very. Special it's something you can probably
- 29:40Speaker 9: take for granted at certain times just because it seemed,
- 29:44Speaker 9: LIKE i don't, know it's at different times you kind
- 29:48Speaker 9: of feel like it's going to happen at some. Point
- 29:50Speaker 9: but looking, back it's one of those things that it's
- 29:55Speaker 9: always going to be really special because it's something that
- 29:57Speaker 9: you envisioned doing from the time you were said when
- 30:00Speaker 9: eight years.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Old so back, then quarterbacks drafted in the first round
- 30:04Speaker 2: didn't typically start right, away but you. Did what were
- 30:08Speaker 2: the circumstances that made you a starter in week?
- 30:10Speaker 4: One, yeah you're.
- 30:11Speaker 9: Right it wasn't like as it was still a thing
- 30:15Speaker 9: to kind of go in and wait a little. Bit
- 30:18Speaker 9: it was actually there was a lot of conversation about.
- 30:21Speaker 9: It what should you? Do you, know, now it's pretty
- 30:22Speaker 9: much understood that you kind of want to get the
- 30:24Speaker 9: guys out there right or. Wrong but the plan for
- 30:29Speaker 9: me definitely was not to go out there right. AWAY i,
- 30:32Speaker 9: MEAN i did want to be out. THERE i felt
- 30:34Speaker 9: LIKE i had the capability of dealing with a little
- 30:36Speaker 9: bit of failure, mentally AND i felt like the experience would,
- 30:42Speaker 9: outweigh you, know the negatives of having to deal with
- 30:45Speaker 9: some of that. Failure but that was not necessarily the.
- 30:50Speaker 9: PLAN i was there With Kyle bowler And Troy, smith
- 30:53Speaker 9: and it really ended up being a crazy training. Camp,
- 30:57Speaker 9: KYLE i, believe ended up pairing something in his labroom
- 30:59Speaker 9: and his should during one of the, practices and Then
- 31:04Speaker 9: Troy smith ended up getting an, illness which kind of
- 31:07Speaker 9: sidelined them FOR i don't even. KNOW i don't even
- 31:09Speaker 9: remember how long it might have. Been two, months so
- 31:11Speaker 9: what like going into the third preseason, GAME i really
- 31:15Speaker 9: wasn't supposed to play at. All they were going, to
- 31:17Speaker 9: like at the beginning of the, week those two were
- 31:18Speaker 9: going to share that, game like probably play half and.
- 31:21Speaker 9: Half in the morning of the. Game was kind of
- 31:25Speaker 9: when we were starting to find out About troy's illness
- 31:27Speaker 9: a little bit in the morning of the. Game they
- 31:29Speaker 9: told me, Like, joe you're the only guy we got,
- 31:31Speaker 9: Today like you're playing the entire. GAME i remember going
- 31:35Speaker 9: back on that room and you, know your hearts pound
- 31:37Speaker 9: and you're a little bit, nervous and you're, like, okay,
- 31:38Speaker 9: MAN i got to make Sure I'm i'm on top
- 31:40Speaker 9: of all, this and you, know the rest is kind
- 31:43Speaker 9: of is what it. IS i went out there and
- 31:45Speaker 9: played that whole game Against Saint Louis rams and we came,
- 31:48Speaker 9: back you, know a handful of days later In baltimore
- 31:51Speaker 9: and played The Atlanta falcons in our fourth preseason. GAME
- 31:53Speaker 9: i THINK i played like three series in. It we
- 31:55Speaker 9: brought the next guy, in and you, know a week
- 31:57Speaker 9: and a half LATER i was lining up In Baltimore Cincinnati.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Bengals so you joined a team with veteran superstars with
- 32:05Speaker 2: big personalities Ray, Lewis, Terrell, suggs Ed. Reid was it?
- 32:09Speaker 9: Intimidating, YEAH i think so to a certain extent for. Sure,
- 32:16Speaker 9: anytime especially when you HAVE i think anytime you have
- 32:19Speaker 9: guys like that that have done what had, done what
- 32:22Speaker 9: they had already, done and we're going and you knew
- 32:24Speaker 9: they were going to continue to do and they were
- 32:27Speaker 9: on the other side of the, BALL i think that
- 32:28Speaker 9: can be. INTIMIDATING i do think that's one of my,
- 32:31Speaker 9: strengths is kind of not worrying about that and and
- 32:35Speaker 9: and not, flinching even though maybe INSIDE i am a little.
- 32:38Speaker 9: BIT i think it was important when you when you
- 32:42Speaker 9: when you get around personalities like, that to show that
- 32:46Speaker 9: you can kind of stand tall and handle you, know
- 32:49Speaker 9: the pressure of dealing with those types of, guys and
- 32:52Speaker 9: when they try to put it on you in, practice you,
- 32:54Speaker 9: know even though you're not necessarily gonna have success all the,
- 32:56Speaker 9: time not. Blink AND i think that, definitely you, KNOW
- 33:01Speaker 9: i think that served me well and going into place like,
- 33:04Speaker 9: that because those guys can be very.
- 33:05Speaker 4: Intimidating.
- 33:07Speaker 9: Obviously you, know anytime you're, around anytime you're a young
- 33:12Speaker 9: kid trying trying to come in and prove yourself and
- 33:15Speaker 9: you're around the best to ever do, it you, know
- 33:20Speaker 9: you can get, intimidated or you can kind of just
- 33:22Speaker 9: look at them and look at them as your peer
- 33:25Speaker 9: and your, equal your, teammate and learn from them as
- 33:28Speaker 9: much as you.
- 33:28Speaker 4: Can we're visiting With Joe.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Flacco you took The ravens to the playoffs each of
- 33:32Speaker 2: your first four. Years you want a playoff game every,
- 33:35Speaker 2: year and then in year five you Led baltimore to
- 33:38Speaker 2: the Super bowl. Title there are thirty five quarterbacks who
- 33:41Speaker 2: have led their team to A Super bowl. Title WHEN
- 33:44Speaker 2: i express it in those, terms what does that say to?
- 33:48Speaker 9: You you, know it's one of those times where you,
- 33:51Speaker 9: don't as a, PLAYER i don't think you do sit
- 33:53Speaker 9: back and reflect enough on how special it is to
- 33:55Speaker 9: get to do what we. DO i don't think you you,
- 33:58Speaker 9: KNOW i don't And i'm not somebody that does it.
- 34:02Speaker 9: EITHER i don't think we sit back and look at
- 34:04Speaker 9: what we just did or what we've done over the
- 34:06Speaker 9: last five. Years and the OLDER i, GET i think
- 34:10Speaker 9: it's kind of important to do, that because when you
- 34:13Speaker 9: don't do, that no matter what you do for a,
- 34:16Speaker 9: living it turned it can turn into a job to
- 34:20Speaker 9: you know at, times AND i think when you hit
- 34:24Speaker 9: me with stuff like, that and when you're able to
- 34:26Speaker 9: sit around some family members and friends and tell stories
- 34:28Speaker 9: and kind of have those little moments where you do
- 34:31Speaker 9: remind yourself of how lucky you, are it puts things
- 34:34Speaker 9: back in perspective and allows you to enjoy it a lot.
- 34:37Speaker 9: MORE i think when you don't do those, things WHICH
- 34:40Speaker 9: i don't naturally like think about those, things UNLESS i
- 34:43Speaker 9: am telling, stories WHICH i like to, do.
- 34:46Speaker 4: It's it's pretty damn.
- 34:47Speaker 9: COOL i, mean you have to go back and put
- 34:50Speaker 9: yourself in the shoes of when you were a young
- 34:52Speaker 9: kid slash teenager and you were hoping to be in
- 34:55Speaker 9: this position one, day and you, know when you hear
- 34:58Speaker 9: things like that from other, people you do turn back
- 35:01Speaker 9: into that kid and you can put it in that
- 35:04Speaker 9: kind of view and that perspective and really enjoy.
- 35:07Speaker 2: It after eleven years In, baltimore you've bounced around, since
- 35:11Speaker 2: with six teams over the last seven. YEARS i, suppose
- 35:14Speaker 2: on one, hand it's nice to be a guy that
- 35:16Speaker 2: plays for one team his entire. Career on the other,
- 35:19Speaker 2: hand you've made so many friends and seeing how different
- 35:22Speaker 2: teams do. It has that been enjoyable in a certain,
- 35:25Speaker 2: way for?
- 35:26Speaker 9: Sure, yeah it's a good way to put, it you.
- 35:28Speaker 9: KNOW i think ultimately it would have been great to
- 35:30Speaker 9: play twenty years in one, spot you, know and call
- 35:34Speaker 9: it a. Day but that's not my. Life this is my,
- 35:38Speaker 9: life and you got to look at the positives in.
- 35:40Speaker 9: It AND i do think there are a lot of
- 35:41Speaker 9: positives in going from team to team and meeting different
- 35:45Speaker 9: coaches and seeing how different coaches do, it and meeting different,
- 35:47Speaker 9: players and seeing different locker, rooms and just enjoying different,
- 35:52Speaker 9: cities you, know getting to see different parts of the
- 35:56Speaker 9: country and actually live there for a little bit of.
- 35:58Speaker 4: TIME i think.
- 36:02Speaker 9: BECAUSE i have played a good amount and am a
- 36:06Speaker 9: little bit older, NOW i can enjoy those. THINGS i
- 36:09Speaker 9: think if you were to tell me, that if you
- 36:11Speaker 9: were to tell me there was gonna be positive in.
- 36:13Speaker 9: That WHEN i was twenty, THREE i probably wouldn't have
- 36:14Speaker 9: believed you and wouldn't have wanted to do. That but
- 36:17Speaker 9: there have been. Positives, yeah, LISTEN i wish the last seven,
- 36:20Speaker 9: years you, know with all those, POSITIVES i do wish
- 36:22Speaker 9: the last seven years were probably a little bit different than.
- 36:24Speaker 9: That but definitely a lot of cool things about doing
- 36:28Speaker 9: What i've gotten to do the last few.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Years when a team picks up a player late in
- 36:33Speaker 2: the season who hasn't been with another, team the expression
- 36:36Speaker 2: that broadcasters and writers uses they's picked up off the.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Couch In november of twenty, three when you joined The
- 36:42Speaker 2: browns and hadn't been with another team for months leading
- 36:47Speaker 2: up to, that what had you been? Doing were you
- 36:48Speaker 2: going to the local high school field and working.
- 36:50Speaker 9: Out it's funny how many people like you know that
- 36:53Speaker 9: is a saying, like you, know, yeah they signed them
- 36:55Speaker 9: off the. Couch but it's funny when you go out
- 36:57Speaker 9: and some people are, like what do they mean they
- 36:59Speaker 9: signed you off the. Couch i'm, like, dude it's just saying,
- 37:01Speaker 9: like it's not. LITERAL i, mean it's kind of, literal
- 37:04Speaker 9: but not.
- 37:04Speaker 4: Really.
- 37:06Speaker 9: YEAH i, listen working out is a big part of
- 37:10Speaker 9: just my life in general these. Days Because i've been
- 37:12Speaker 9: doing it for so, long you end up you start
- 37:14Speaker 9: to enjoy. It and coming into the, league that wasn't.
- 37:17Speaker 9: Me you, KNOW i grew up playing. SPORTS i went
- 37:19Speaker 9: from football to basketball to, baseball and then redid it
- 37:22Speaker 9: all in the, summer and you, know kind of went
- 37:24Speaker 9: through that. Cycle so like being in the weight room
- 37:26Speaker 9: and working, OUT i JUST i grew up working out
- 37:29Speaker 9: on the, field like that was WHERE i learned how
- 37:31Speaker 9: to do. Everything so it wasn't until a few years
- 37:36Speaker 9: into THE nfl WHERE i really started doing getting getting
- 37:39Speaker 9: into like taking care of my body and doing that
- 37:41Speaker 9: kind of. Thing and now Because i've done it for so,
- 37:44Speaker 9: long it's become such a big part of my life
- 37:46Speaker 9: that that part was natural to. Do and then in
- 37:50Speaker 9: terms of throwing the, football it wasn't super concerned with
- 37:54Speaker 9: like throwing the, football BUT i did want to keep
- 37:56Speaker 9: my arm in. Shape so it was usually twice a
- 37:59Speaker 9: WEEK i would my dad and me and my dad
- 38:01Speaker 9: and my youngest brother would go out to a you,
- 38:03Speaker 9: know a local field AND i would just put them
- 38:06Speaker 9: in spots and my brother would throw a little, bit
- 38:08Speaker 9: and he would catch a little, bit and my dad
- 38:09Speaker 9: would catch some, balls and you, know nothing, crazy but
- 38:12Speaker 9: keeping the arm in shape and making sure that IF
- 38:14Speaker 9: i did get a call THAT i would you, KNOW
- 38:17Speaker 9: i wouldn't embarrass myself And i'd be able to go
- 38:19Speaker 9: in there and pick up a football and start and
- 38:20Speaker 9: start pretty you, know throwing the ball pretty.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Good so kudos to your dad and your brother for helping.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Out you've got five. Kids they were too young or
- 38:29Speaker 2: not born when you won The Super, bowl so earlier
- 38:32Speaker 2: this year when you beat The steelers On thursday, night
- 38:35Speaker 2: when you threw for four seventy against The. Bears now
- 38:38Speaker 2: your kids are old enough to watch it and appreciate.
- 38:41Speaker 2: It is that the best part about still playing at Forty.
- 38:44Speaker 9: It's definitely a cool part of, it it really. Is
- 38:48Speaker 9: and they just want, more you, know you do one,
- 38:49Speaker 9: game they want, more they want. More you. Know it's
- 38:54Speaker 9: VERY i think a couple of years, AGO i think
- 38:57Speaker 9: in twenty three WHEN i got signed and went To,
- 38:59Speaker 9: cleveland and that was like the first real time that
- 39:01Speaker 9: they actually, cared you.
- 39:04Speaker 4: Know in twenty.
- 39:05Speaker 9: Nineteen, yeah like by the TIME i Left, baltimore like
- 39:08Speaker 9: they had they were you, know six years. OLD i
- 39:10Speaker 9: THINK i was six or something like. That like you'd
- 39:13Speaker 9: think they'd be old enough to kind of get it
- 39:15Speaker 9: a little, bit but they, don't not until they're nine
- 39:17Speaker 9: to ten, eleven you. Know and twenty three was the
- 39:20Speaker 9: first time where like even THOUGH i signed, late like
- 39:24Speaker 9: WHEN i signed, THERE i was the guy AND i
- 39:26Speaker 9: got to go win and play some good. Games that
- 39:28Speaker 9: was the first real time that they understood what was
- 39:31Speaker 9: going on and got to be a part of. It
- 39:34Speaker 9: and THAT'S i think that was the cool. Part is
- 39:39Speaker 9: you always enjoy sharing these things with and having the
- 39:44Speaker 9: people that you really love and care about be a
- 39:48Speaker 9: part of it with. You and when it's your, kids
- 39:52Speaker 9: that's just a whole other level of like love and
- 39:55Speaker 9: care that you have for. Somebody and it definitely did
- 40:02Speaker 9: make it pretty. SPECIAL i think it was special for,
- 40:04Speaker 9: them but you, know like, whatever they're, kids they're gonna you,
- 40:07Speaker 9: know it was definitely special for me BECAUSE i, think
- 40:09Speaker 9: just LIKE i, said the more people that you care
- 40:11Speaker 9: about that you get to bring in on this thing
- 40:13Speaker 9: and enjoy it with it just makes it that much.
- 40:16Speaker 9: Sweeter if it was just me hanging out, there and,
- 40:18Speaker 9: yeah it would have been fun with my teammates and all,
- 40:20Speaker 9: That but then you go home to an empty house
- 40:21Speaker 9: and you kind of, okay it's. Over when you have
- 40:25Speaker 9: people to enjoy it, with that mean a lot to.
- 40:28Speaker 9: You it definitely means something. Else so that was my
- 40:30Speaker 9: first taste of. It and, yeah it was pretty.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Cool if you wild card topics to wrap this up
- 40:36Speaker 2: With Joe. Flacco you've had hundreds of teammates in THE.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Nfl who are you closest?
- 40:40Speaker 9: To Uh, So Dennis pitt is probably like the guy
- 40:44Speaker 9: That i'm closest. To just reached out To Marshall yanda
- 40:47Speaker 9: and Called Marshall yanda like two weeks ago just to
- 40:50Speaker 9: kind of see what he was doing back on his
- 40:52Speaker 9: farm In. Iowa But dennis is the guy THAT i
- 40:57Speaker 9: you know that you, know we'll fly To california, too
- 41:00Speaker 9: and he'll come out To jersey once an off season
- 41:02Speaker 9: and and things like.
- 41:03Speaker 2: That you went viral several weeks ago for discussing the
- 41:07Speaker 2: joys of going to a restaurant.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Alone how did your wife take?
- 41:11Speaker 9: That she, laughed just like everybody. Else, yeah She you,
- 41:16Speaker 9: know we're so past that point where it's.
- 41:18Speaker 4: Like what are you?
- 41:19Speaker 9: Doing you're doing this And i'm doing. That you, know
- 41:21Speaker 9: we've gone through those stages where you may want to
- 41:26Speaker 9: feel a certain way about what the other person's. Doing you,
- 41:29Speaker 9: know we're so past, that, thankfully AND i AND i
- 41:33Speaker 9: think she's at the point, too like she wants to
- 41:36Speaker 9: see me have success and she's she's she's partaking in that.
- 41:40Speaker 9: SUCCESS i, mean she's a huge part of.
- 41:41Speaker 4: That so.
- 41:44Speaker 9: You, know if people are getting a good laugh out
- 41:45Speaker 9: of buy interviews or anything like, THAT i think she's
- 41:48Speaker 9: kind of enjoying it for the most part.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Too final fun, fact this one's kind of. Deep if
- 41:53Speaker 2: you could meet anyone in, history living or, deceased who
- 41:58Speaker 2: would that person?
- 41:59Speaker 9: Be, Wow i'm never good at these. QUESTIONS i don't
- 42:05Speaker 9: know IF i have anybody. Specific you, know we were
- 42:07Speaker 9: just talking about all the unknowns that are in this,
- 42:10Speaker 9: world and, man what would you like answers? To and you,
- 42:13Speaker 9: know what would it be cool if you knew the answers.
- 42:15Speaker 9: TO i, mean, Shoot i'd love to go back to
- 42:18Speaker 9: when those pyramids are built and then talk to somebody
- 42:21Speaker 9: from that, time you, know and see what was the
- 42:24Speaker 9: deal with. That but it's hard for me to pick
- 42:27Speaker 9: out somebody.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Specific i'll cut Your, brake because you've answered every other
- 42:30Speaker 2: question beautifully and it's been a real treat to see
- 42:33Speaker 2: you play and to see you lead this.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Team thanks so, Much, JOE i appreciate.
