- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everybody, welcome back to The Green Walk in Lane Chow's Patreon.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, last month we talked all about fascism and culture.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: This month we're on the odd theme of eyeball horror.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: And it's kind of a funny genre to consider when you think about eyeball horror.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: There's a whole bunch of eyeball...
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Related fears and ideas out there, and there's a lot of characters that are based in this kind of category of eyeballness.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: Today we get to take the Queen Mother of all eyeball horror, and that's the character, uh, Orasarata, who I love.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think she's incredible.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: hitting a mutant from the araco era of comics.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: We've been jumping all over on the show which always fun, but we get to talk about aura Sarata today.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm thrilled to be joined by two of my very favorite people.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: Let me welcome you both and I'll have you as your name in pronouns.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: Tell us a little about you.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: And what is it about eyeballs that may be freaky out just a little bit?
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: Because everybody has a little bit of an eyeball thing.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: There's a
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little, it's a little bit creepy for everybody, I think.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: Let me first welcome none, one back to the show.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, none, good to see you.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_04]: Hi, I'm none, one, um, I like to go by the name pronouns.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I am on Instagram at No.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_04]: 1Xman Cosplay.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, eyeballs.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_04]: I think I also can be really pretty like the colors for the irises and things, but I have a thing about like touching eyeballs, which is really crazy because I've put my contacts in, so like any time like in like the slasher film or something where they're like going for the eye, I'm always like, it's like one of my things.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: I, oh, can I tell you a terrible story?
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to hate it, like you're really going to hate it a lot.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: When I stopped contacts, there was a period of time, I was in high school.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: I thought one of my contacts was lost in my eye and I was freaking out.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I kept trying to pull it out, but I was actually pulling the membrane.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: on my eye and I thought it was my contact.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: So my eye got all bruised and like red and it was horrified.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_04]: And see like I have a thing where it's like I will like sneeze too hard or like run my eye too hard and I'll pop blood vessels in my eye.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_04]: It happens on the time like it doesn't hurt or anything and there's like you do about it but like I'm notorious for that.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm all friends.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: Let me also welcome Joe Joe and hi, Joe.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: Hi, Chad.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for having me.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_03]: My pronouns are he
- 2:27[SPEAKER_03]: Definitely just like number one anything where like the eye is kind of
- 2:33[SPEAKER_03]: Like there's some violence towards the eye, like, you know, like something poking the eye or stabbing the eye like a lot of four movies they do like a knife through the eye or like a scalpel to the eye or something and that stuff always makes me like remiss is because like the thought of it is so unpleasant I think it's because the eye is so important, you know, that's how you view the world, but also it's so like delicate and like sensitive and like squishy like so it's like you definitely don't want anything going in there that shouldn't be there.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_03]: or touching it, it shouldn't be there.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_03]: But also, I think there's something with the body horror aspect of eyes that are not supposed to be there.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_03]: So like a human body that's covered in eyes, like really cool people out.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_03]: Teezing eye boy, which is sure it'll be coming up later.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think eye boy is the next step going after this one?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be talking about eye boy.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, your eyes eyes all over the body.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: Or there's the thing where there's like an eye in the middle of the forehead.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: We're also doing third eye.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: So doing third eye, this month on the show.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: Who is another Krikoa era character?
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: Then they go like big and crazy.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: There's like floating eyeballs, right?
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like the idea of like eyeballs as like the messenger of something or like spying on shit or like appearing.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: There's like that weird eyeball that's in like the book and Hocuspocus.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember the one that was in the middle of the book?
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: So eyeballs look good.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: eyeballs like working where they shouldn't be is always the thing.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: We get to also do this month on my show, the character, the orb, who just has a big eyeball for a head and he indicates telepathically and there's so many gross eye jokes about his giant eyeball head, it's horrifying.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: So stay tuned for the orb episode because that's a whole journey.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: And we're culminating in the end of the month with the trial of Wattu the Watcher, who is all eyeball all the time, all the peeping tummes of everything.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: We're also there's five Wednesdays in December.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: We're also doing the character sack who is just like that like Protoplasm membrane that like slides in and out of your sockets, you know like he's like there's there's all kinds of stuff So it's gonna be fun to jump into this genre.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited The the big horror that we haven't mentioned is like needles with eyes like that's another one anytime It's a horror film where there's like something penetrating in the eye.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: You're like now
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know, right, like dump all over, but I promise we're going to have fun because it's a weird genre of of, uh, of, uh, where, uh, Nums already feel in a certain way.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like it.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: Num, we, when we hang on next week, we must play poker because you have the worst poker face of any of mine.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_04]: I've tried to keep together about my expressions, give me away.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_04]: That's why I don't play poker.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_04]: I deliberately avoid putting any kind of game where I have to like keep a straight face because I can't.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so we're going to jump into the Krakowan era for a minute.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: Jonathan Hickman has built an entire new world.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: There is a mutant nation.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: It is on an island that is sentient that has very deep connections.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: Go back to January 2025 where we did the giant about Krakowa episode of my show, which is very special.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: It was a wonderful way to open the new era.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: Hickman adds a lot of old lore.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: So Krakowa,
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: billions of years ago, we don't have to go to this whole thing, billions of years ago was a mutant named Grove in the civilization of Threshhold, who re-grue as like a giant plant civilization eventually over time, and they were called Okara.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: And eventually, like an alien sword, split Ocar at in half to Cricola and Araco.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's the two halves of the hole.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: For those of you that have seen headwigs in the angry edge, it's very like Zeus splits the two halves that they have to search for each other.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you guys know the origin of love at all.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's very, that's the Cricola reference for V. So, Araco is a new revelation.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: We have, we've known about Cricola for a long time.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: Araco's just, you know, six or seven years old, even at the time of us recording this.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: A Racco ended up in another dimension called Amen, where there is an entire civilization of mutants led by the wife of Apocalypse, Genesis, and their four children who they named famine war death in pestilence, which is wild.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: to be already, and this society has formed in this kind of place of war and hardship, and a mega-mutants, the most powerful are the ones that kind of rule everything.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: There's corruption in their ranks.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: There is, you have to challenge people for seats of power, and a lot of the characters that end up kind of amplified into the great ring, or the ruling council of Arako, are like a mega-level mutants who have learned how to work together with their
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: So we jump to the 10 of Swords event where at the end of it a raccoe returns to Earth with all of the millions of mutants living aboard it and eventually that gets taken up to the planet of Mars.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: which becomes now the new Araco, and there's a giant mutant civilization there.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of storm stories because Storm and Magneto end up on the council.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: They are incredible.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: There's a ton of characters that we love, love, love from this era, one of them being or a Sarada.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Let me hear some of your early thoughts on that very kind of soft setup of Araco.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: What are your thoughts on this era of the books?
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: And do you have any favorite mutants from the Araco franchise that you just adore?
- 7:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, this is a really good era of the Cricola Era because we just finished up ten of swords, which was like this huge, very ambitious event where like there's a lot of stories coming together.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_03]: It's really the first major cross over in the Cricola Era.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_03]: You really see how
- 8:17[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the creative teams are working together where they're spearheading this creative vision and all the books are really communicating very well together.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_03]: And it's epic and it's, you know, grand and it culminates in, like you said, this big moment where now this huge immune civilization needs to go someplace and well, you know, the immune's have just, you know, terraformed Mars and now we have this great
- 8:38[SPEAKER_03]: place for them to go.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_03]: So it's the rebirth of this great immune civilization.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_03]: And it's really deepening and expanding the lore of the mutants beyond just what the X-Men are.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's really taken into deeper levels.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_03]: Some of my favorite of these characters is Latuka.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_03]: That's a big favorite.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_03]: I really do like Eska, the NBN.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_03]: I just like the complexity of all these powers.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like Zen is somebody who has a power that is useless in combat.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll be talking today.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like, are they all have this really interesting way of Amplit?
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, application of their powers beyond just they shoot laser beams out of their head or they even storm They can control the weather and I've been to look to make a like a universal sentience almost there's like a Space you know Where as weapon the zen's power is to paint the truth which is seen as useless in combat at least dance There's a society we have iska the unbeaten your reference to his powers.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: We believe that she can't lose Like no matter what that means for her you have to find a way to make your lose
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: Um, no, did you have any favorites from this era?
- 9:48[SPEAKER_04]: Oh my gosh, I would have to definitely agree with Iska, the Unbeaten, just because like that is such an interesting power like domino almost where it's like, you can't really like show that, but you have to explain it in a way where it's like any challenges, any fight she's in, like she's gonna win, which is a big part of, you know, ten of swords.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_04]: I love and this is going to sound terrible, but I love Genesis.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_04]: I love the the horsemen that are her children.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_04]: I think that they're also interesting.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_04]: Death is one of my favorites.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_04]: I love him in you know 10 of Swords and then his continuation afterwards.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's really great also his dynamic with storm is fantastic.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: That has like a wolf head, but like he can like shoot.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: Smith that it is.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm taking a new this head.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: And this this has like the ability to like control plants at like in a mega level.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, yes.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: They have a lot of different powers.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's fun.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: So cool.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: No one has brought up sobunar who's the best doing that.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: Excellent.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like ocean.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: They're like.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: And he's dwell in the side of him.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like, these are great characters.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: And we see a lot of like writers do mutant turns, right?
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: And often they don't have the resonance this one does.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: But because it's so deftly handled, I hit men by how Ewing, my size per year, these stories are wonderful.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: I love X-Men Red.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's hitting people, journey, storm in her Beyoncé era as the queen region of Mars.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's amazing.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you have always been a storm fan.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: Was it special for you to see storm in the X-Men red era?
- 11:19[SPEAKER_04]: I think it really was, I think it was kind of a move away from the traditional like regular X-Men stories because so often we see her like co-leading the X-Men and kind of like at the whims of whatever Charles Xavier is doing and here it's like while she's still a part of this meeting universe and a really big way it is, she's leading an entire planet now in a way that's very contrast to what we understand means to be.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_04]: The Iraqi are a very combative form of mutant and, you know, she's bringing this idea of, you know, not just combat, but there are different ways of living and it's very challenging for her.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_04]: And then also being basically kind of a spokesperson for the Solar System itself, in this greater stage of the Marvel Universe, I think is a really interesting place to put her.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_04]: you know, staging her as, you know, the Omega of Omega's, I guess we are building towards that, which is really interesting for an influencer in a place where she's challenged both intellectually, but also for her powers as well, because she has to really maintain her seat where anyone can challenge her for it.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_04]: So she really has to continually prove herself and also prove herself to, you know, Morocco itself because they're a very different society.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: So I love a smart writer, I'm going to take the simple version of this and when I say simple I say it with affection, one of my favorite books and books several years is the unbeatable squirrel girl and when I interviewed Ryan North on the show for the Koi Boy episode for those that have been able to hear that we talk about how Ryan would kind of pick like an aspect of squirrel girl's powers like okay so she can talk to squirrels how do I create a story around that what is the supervillain look like how is that the thing they can save the day right there's the how do we how do we how do we
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: frame a story around this.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: When you're writing a storm series, a daredevil series, and nightcrawler series, a Wolverine series, these are ways to play up on it, right?
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: How do I create characters who are different versions of this story we're trying to tell?
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: So it's high spurrier, one of the characters that really gets to shine during cricola is Nightcrawler.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: Stay tuned on my show, the theme in January, 2026 is Nightcrawler.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: We get to hit Nightcrawler from every angle,
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: an epic show plan on both shows, I'm really excited about it.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: But Metcrawler in Legion of X, which is written by Cy Spurrier, is all about Metcrawler on the quiet council who, after his time in the way of X, where he's been trying to figure out how the new mutant society works.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: Metcrawler's been on quite a journey as a character at this point.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: He was killed in the
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: Azazal his demon dad that's not actually his dad fed his blood to some weird little demon things who became red Bamps but then night crawler found them and turned them blue and then made a deal with the devil where he gets to reanimate To life, but he sold his soul and now the Bamps make up his body.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: He was also a priest previously, but now he's resurrected, he's got his soul back, he's dying right in left on Cricula, and he's part of the ruling council, and his heart is in this.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: He really wants to make this new society work.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: Resurrection is here.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: So one of the big questions that Sysperia is kind of tossing around us, he's exploring that crawler, is what is God, what is faith.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: And that crawler really lands on the idea of something that he calls the spark, which is this idea of exploring life.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: Let's let things be new.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: Let's try new things.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: Let's find out who we are.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: Let's make, if we're going to be immortal, let's make it incredible.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: Let's push the limits.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: Let's use our powers like never before.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: And Sysperia gets to really use some fun ways of creating what that means.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: So there's not crawler themes like, you know, how do you test his faith here?
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: What does it mean to be a god or to have no god?
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: And what's the purpose when you live forever?
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot of these kinds of interesting things that are being flipped on their heads through these stories.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: So, Metcrollers, one of the characters we're going to open with here, and then we move to Storm, who is in this kind of a region era, and Orosorada fits beautifully into the middle of all this.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: So, Sysperia tells a dense story.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: This is interweaving with a lot of stuff going on in Legion of X.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: There's a big cast of characters ranging from the character lost.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: to, is that her name lost, the really tall skinny, the woman of color?
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: So there's lost, there is juggerna, there is banshee who has been bonded with like a ghostwriter kind of.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: There's, there's a lot of different things happening.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: The failinks are here and Warlock is like used a lot, but we're going to focus the conversation on or a surata specifically.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: So we first meet her in Legion of X.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: In
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: by sizeperier and Jan Bezeldoa, in a story called Do What thou wilt.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: Do you guys have comments on Legion of X or the night crawler set up before we jump into the meaty yummy eyeball goodness that's about to follow?
- 16:28[SPEAKER_04]: I love a story that has Legion in it.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_04]: I think, and that's kind of weird for me to say sometimes, because I'm like, he's such an interesting and like unique character in a lot of ways, like going back in the long, I love it.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the stories never end with him, but I think he's such an interesting character because of the way he interacts with everyone else.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_04]: Um, and so this story, I think going back and reading it again was really fun reading his interactions with Charles and with Kane as Dr. Knott and, you know, him trying to find his way in this new era of, you know, everyone being together and him really not being a part of it in a way.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_04]: because where Kurt gets defined kind of his place in this society and the story is really about him creating a space and navigating things and sort of policing in this series, a lot of the mutant, some other doing, I feel like Legion doesn't really answer to any of them.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_04]: And so I think that's a really fun kind of opposite to him.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so Legion is always a complicated character for me just because the stories, especially the first time I read Legion of X, this one was probably the title that I struggled the most, just because I felt like the concerts were really big and it was a lot of big swings, but I think a lot of it paid off, especially on reread.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_03]: I really liked the relationship explore between David and Charles because Xavier
- 17:59[SPEAKER_03]: is the leader of this new nation, but he's basically, well, I only want some of you to really be a part of this new in paradise.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_03]: Like, Caine, he didn't want Caine to be there, and that's his half-brother.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_03]: He didn't really want Legion there either.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_03]: He didn't really want his own son, so I really like the way that they played off of each other.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_03]: And I liked the way that David specifically played off of Kurt because I think Kurt is going through this kind of spiritual journey of like you said,
- 18:28[SPEAKER_03]: immortal, you know, this is someone who's already died before.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_03]: So he is the most spiritual character of the X-Men.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_03]: He kind of has a deeper relationship with faith and spirituality than any other X-Men character is and he's bringing that to the island and he's like, okay, let's let's really explore this deeper and I really like how David and Kurt specifically played off of each other as someone who's like that has the powers of a god and then someone who's
- 18:58[SPEAKER_03]: immortality kind of is the recurring like thing or the Bonnie thing that kind of brings everybody together.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_03]: It's like if we've conquered death, you know, what kind of purpose does life really have?
- 19:10[SPEAKER_03]: If you can just die and then come back the next day and do it all over again, you know, what was the point of dying in the first place?
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: A size per year comic has to be read slowly.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: You finish the whole series and then you read it again when you know what's going on and you look for what's going on.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I think reading is pretty very helpful.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like a book that makes me slow down and pay attention, right, but for those of us with ADHD, which is probably a piece sometimes, free at the right space.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: So the Aracco stuff that's happening is parallel to the cracoa stuff.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Cracoa has formed the quiet council.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: And the three rules that they have made kind of have hazardly are make more mutants kill no man, respect to this sacred land.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: The great ring of a raccoe for who have come from a month on their now on Mars, their three laws are make more mutants, which is the same, destroy all enemies instead of kill no man, and defend a raccoe instead of respect to this sacred
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: only the mega mutants get seats and if they're challenged for those seats they have to be able to fight to the death in this circle perilous.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's part of the the rule that they're operating by.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: Apocalypse is trying to putting some of this onto Krikoa because you know survival of the fittest has always been his thing.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot going on here.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: Genesis is not around until a little bit later but we now have this new fledgling society.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: Storm is serving on both councils,
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: And one day, as the result of a cosmic wager, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm,
- 21:12[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry to drag you out here, Kurt.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_04]: She insisted it had to be because Chief Laman.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_04]: She?
- 21:17[SPEAKER_04]: I know you object to your legionnaires being called police.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_04]: And I did try to explain your spark concept.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_04]: It's hard to know if she was listening.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_03]: Storm, who is she?
- 21:31[SPEAKER_04]: just try not to stare.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: And we get this glorious, nearly full-page image of Aura Sarata.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: On either side of her stand shirtless men with spears, helmets, and behind a full red curtain is behind her, the lighting is coming up from the floor in this perfect selfie pose.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: And she says,
- 21:53[SPEAKER_00]: Ah, the cuddone constable, good, and also rata the witness, fourth light of the great ring, first of the twilight seats honoured of the chair of law, commander of the inward watch.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: You may call me arbitrics.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: I have need of you.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: We meet Orasarata, and I don't know what the fuck she is.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's this massive round eyeball with this huge black pupil in the middle.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: And the top of the eyeball is this little golden slug who's giving very like hook a caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: There's these little tentacles that adhere to the top of the eye, sort of like the wires in the back of your eye, if you've ever seen like a severed eyeball floating around in the comic book.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: There's like a little golden throne that's been set up on the eyeball, it's like these long looping tentacles that attach to the back of the eye and the slug is wearing like a little shawl in lavender that floats down the back of the eye and like cascades in the breeze.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's quite dramatic, but this eyeball is like the size of a house and then we've got this weird like faceless little slug creature that is actually aura so I could like stab the eye and nothing would happen unless I
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: will get to the mutant power in a minute because this isn't a Megan mutant.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: The IS floating several feet off the ground and when she turns around you can see the golden tentacles like plugged into the back.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: She's kind of stunning.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's giving like crazy Jim Henson reveal in like a weird like the dark crystal kind of energy to all of this.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's bizarre.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: Do you guys have thoughts on the original like the appearance of aura in the book?
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go numb in the
- 23:32[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so honestly, like I didn't expect anything less like after like you meet so many of the Iraqi to begin with, like you expect like the craziest looking mutants imaginable.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_04]: I did not expect a floating eye, for sure.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_04]: And that's not like on my list of like, okay, mutants, there's just a floating eye.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_04]: So it was very interesting.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_04]: I think because like also I was so excited the first time I was reading all of this about like all these mutants being introduced and all these new characters.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, okay, this is what we're going with.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_04]: And then like, when you find out more about her abilities and stuff, I'm like, oh, that makes sense.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: Then it's crazy when you read a story from a particular perspective, right?
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's when you look at it, because there's so many mutants.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: When you read it from the orus, when you're just reading the orus, or you're like, what the hell is happening?
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is amazing.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: Joe, do you have thoughts on the orus or out of visual?
- 24:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, what can you say it's a giant floating eyeball with a little, like, yeah, when I was trying to figure out my head, how when I described this as somebody, it's like, exactly like you said it's like, it's an eye and then there's a slug on top of it and then there's like these little like 10 trolls or tentacles.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_03]: And then for some reason, she has like a little purple shawl because of course she has she must be fashionable So it's like it's definitely like a perfect like comic book character because it really is something that only could We're like I could see like an animated version of this or maybe in like a CGI, but it works so well on a comic book page and like when she makes her debut It's like the grandest entrance.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's like a character like Saturn 9 or like mother right just like when they pop in you're like oh, this is like
- 25:08[SPEAKER_03]: a character that we're going to be obsessed with for a long time.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the woman in Harry Potter that's like evil that has all the kittens on the plates and like makes him right.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm brave.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'm brave.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: What's your name?
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: So, Oursorata is giving me real delores on breathing energy.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: I can see it.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: Good.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oursorata, by the way, the literal definition.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's the serrated junction between the chloride and the silieri body of the eye.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: The junction marks the transition from the simple non-photo-sensitive area of the silieri body.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: to the complex multi-layered photo-sensitive region of the retina.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: So we're named again after a part of the eye itself, which is already craziness.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: So if you recall, Orissa Rada has asked Storm to bring Nightcrawler because he has the legionnaires, which are on some places, are seen as like the police of Oraco in some ways.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: So Orissa is tonight, crawler.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: Well, of our deities is missing.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: I assume the Iraqi had no gods.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: You must struggle to understand our ways, perhaps it will speed your comprehension to observe my duties, come, and she just starts floating away, so they walk into the circle perilous where it's like the arena battles.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: Thousands are cheering about in the arena below.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: Nightcrawler says,
- 26:36[SPEAKER_03]: My God, this must be the circle perilous.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_03]: Is it true that all Iraqi justice is settled by dual?
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, so reductive.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_03]: I just can't make it up.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: Challenges can involve combat, but not exclusively.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: Any party may challenge any other.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: The loser either yields or dies.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: It is my office to bear witness.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_03]: What if someone refuses to enter the circle?
- 27:04[SPEAKER_00]: Gleeing a child and just the greatest sin of our society knows such fugitives are hunted down.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_03]: And when you find them?
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: Why, then I look at them, and then they stop being me.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, or us the routers powers, if you guys have read the Wheel of Time, her powers are bailfire.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like if she looks like you, she wipes you out of fucking distance.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're gone, you're wiped away from the fabric of reality.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: So, I love her saying reductive a bunch.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so the fight ends when a character names say to Sigsodaka, go look them up, yields to another character named Corey,
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: QU-O-R-I-Cory-The-R-R, again, go look them up.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: The fight was recognized by weaponless Zen and aura interrupts.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: We'll take a moment to introduce Zen at a moment.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: Zen, a schedule change.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: Call forth the sect we uncovered last week and fetched the head of O'Kesh, which is spelled U-Q-E-S-H, and Zen is Z-S-E-N. Weaponless Zen of Namif-U-L.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I'm listening closely, Nightcrawler, 600 years ago, in the ever-seeing of England, the way we've civil disorder crippled our unity.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: Those percent by anarchy cannot wage war.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: At such times, all Iraqi deferred to the chair of law.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: My predecessor's strategy was simple.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: He summoned the legion of God, such was his gift to council and leaders, preening squabbling things that leached our faith and gave us nothing.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: It was the greatest military disaster with ever-suffered.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: Still, even after I usurped him, I did not kill Ukesh the bridge, he remained useful.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, I-I-Proposals live this down in a second.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: When the Zen carries out a box, there's a head inside that's just yelling, please let me die, let me die, and weapon the Zen presents a group of mutant citizens who are quote accused of worship.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so we go back to A-Menth.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: The four-or-a-serata had the seed of law.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: A guy named Ukesh, the bridge, had the seat of law.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: Ukesh's power is to summon gods, like he can bring a god.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: So like he could just bring Thor in, or Odin, or whichever god, and just bring them there.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: So during this time when he had the rule, he brought on some gods.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: and Orncerata saying it led to like big disaster in our war, so she took over the seat, but she cut off his head, he still alive, she keeps it in a box so that she can use him to summon gods as needed.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's the story being presented here.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: This is truly truly amazing.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, there's a new group of citizens that have been accused of warship and now the God that their warship has gone missing on Krikoa.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's why Knight Crowler has been summoned.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone following, size per year, comics get crazy.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: So, what are the accused warshipers names the God that she follows as Tishop the Thunderer, T-E-S-H-U-P?
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: Tishop the Thunderer,
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: The head of Ukesha's removed from the box and used to summon the god T-Shop the Thunder, and he's a huge blue guy, like the size of a skyscraper, and he's nervous.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: He goes, oh crap, oh, Neil brief mortals.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: So, or as argument is that the gods are fucking stupid, which frankly, I usually are.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: An oracirata replies, I rather think not.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: Expression of divinity is a challenge not to a person, but to the people they shall answer for it.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now we get the quotes, the text box says, or Serena sits in the seat of law, fourth light of the great rain, first of the twilight seat, arbitrics of the inward watch.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: The seat of law preserves and sanctifies the primacy of the right of challenge.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: The inward watch are enforcers of Iraqi law.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: So these are like her police, because she's the judge of the law.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: In practice, their studies are two-fold, one to witness, regulate, and record all challenges.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: So the combat challenges we mentioned, two to retrieve and if necessary, destroy those who flee a challenge.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: We also get the seat of law invokes emergency powers of deferredum.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: after Aurora Sarata took over, they formalized conditional provision and popularly known as Godlaw, which relinquishes deferredum, the standard Great Ring procedure then resumes.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: So the Godlaw means that beings of faith must prove their worth on demand.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: If they will not come, let the head of Ukash bring them expression of divinity is a challenge to the people, let the people answer it as one.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so she is there to enforce the law,
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: Earlier we read the three laws and the great ring and the challenges are like one of the greatest laws.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: So her primary duty is to hunt down those who flee, but also kind of to challenge anyone who has formed religion.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you have a religion on our planet, it's in combat with our society and it's rules.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: And my job is to summon your God and make them prove themselves.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: And if the God cannot, I have the fucking power to look at them and disappear them.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's the story we're getting with Orosirata.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: So us to stands before this God that has been summoned as the inward watch attack.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: The inward watcher police force.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: Don't look so disgusted and I'd call it.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: This is your doing after all.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: You will create companies, draw, act, or act, go here.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have any idea how many sad old deities came sneaking out to seduce us?
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: That crawler says, we saved you from endless slavery.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_00]: You put a traumatized civilization in a pool of leeches.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_00]: We passed centuries without a single summoning ritual.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: This is the tenth one, this month.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's mostly gods of death or war.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it habits die hard.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: But there is one.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: A god of mischief.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know its name.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: It caused chaos, then fled before we could summon it.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: And insult to our ways.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_00]: We believe it, Rand, to curricula.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, we come to it at last.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_03]: You want me to help you enforce this twisted atheism?
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: We do not deny gods.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: We are quite receptive to the idea in our way.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: We simply haven't found yet one.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: We simply haven't yet found one who deserves it.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: T-Shop of the F-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-H-
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: Thunder, you are overthrown.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: I can see it.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: Do you yield with honor?
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: And she hovers up into the sky who's been toppled over by the inward watch.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_01]: Zen comments.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_04]: He won't yield his to admit one is unworthy of worship.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_04]: That's worth a death to a God.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's worth then.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, that's my type of.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_04]: That's worth then a death to a God.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: Never a y'all's tish up.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: As you wish, clear the way friends, it's the least one can do at the moment of an enemy's demise to look him in the eye, wink, wink, except if she doesn't have an eyelid, so as the inward watch holds out their arms and they all point their thumbs down in judgment.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: The image of tish up reflects in the massive eye of Orasarata and disappears out of existence.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: And then Zen is sent with Nightcrawler back to Kricola.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we threw a lot at you, just then.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: But the very quick set up here is Orasarata is
- 34:37[SPEAKER_01]: abolishing gods because she sees them as a threat unless they can prove themself.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: One of them a trickster god has escaped a croquette But she can't name its name and she wants a nightcrawler to go find it.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: She has sent Zen of the inward watch with Metcrawler to go find this missing god and she staged this entire power thing to like wipe this god out of existence in front of nightcrawler as The way to show how fucking powerful she is.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: What are your thoughts on this opening?
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: This is a crazy journey
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: So much in it, but it's so good.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, first of all, like you said her power, that's insane, just like she looks at you, like imagine you bumped into her on the street and you like accidentally like nocturate with your shoulder.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_03]: She just turns to you and you're just like obliterated.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_03]: That's how powerful she is.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_03]: And then also let this, you know,
- 35:29[SPEAKER_03]: kind of abusive her power and authority.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_03]: She's just on a whim deciding which gods or worthy and which ones are not.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_03]: It's really about control more than anything.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_03]: And as the I motif, it's like she is like this all scene.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_03]: I like she sees everything, she's all knowing.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_03]: She's kind of like big brother or like the concept of an electric guy or like like she literally is the state.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_03]: a mobile panopticon of some kind like it's like she just like looks for the corruption or whatever she wants to root out of existence in this society and then she can just do it and who's to stop her big brother is always watching exactly this time it's getting like you know I have saw on yes oh my god very much like lately yeah legit was gonna bring that up because the i have saw on that that like great
- 36:28[SPEAKER_04]: I really like it's, it's really shining, speaking of shining a light, I was so on.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_04]: It's shining a light on the vast differences in this idea of what we are used to when it comes to like deities, that exist in a Marvel universe, and how these deities are extremely powerful and are worshiping to an extent to be revered, but for Morocco, like that's not the case here,
- 36:54[SPEAKER_04]: you have to prove yourself as a deity, prove yourself as a god to be above us in order to earn our worship, where on earth it's like we are expected to give that, where it's just like, you know, there's nothing so much so above these gods and we know that there is, but for the Iraqi,
- 37:15[SPEAKER_04]: We don't care that you're a God, prove to us why you've earned this, and if you can't, then you don't deserve to be here.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_04]: So they're beholden to the same kind of laws and rules that all of the rest of the meetings are, prove it, prove your strengths, prove that you are powerful enough, and you can stay.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: And this is where we could get very lost because this is a night crawler story, but it's also a cracoa story.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: We open on cracoa where like Xavier's projecting is minded to everyone and is like, hey humans, you have new gods now, you know, or is not calling herself a god.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: She fucking hates gods, but there's a odd parallel to the Xavier story where Xavier's running such a tight kind of corrupt rule of cracoa and just expecting everyone to see him as a good person, right?
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: But this is a night crawler story.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: Night crawler's god is this god of cruelty.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: There are so many Kurt Wagner stories where he loses his faith because something really cruel happens.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: And then he wants to learn to believe again, like the hope in the way it's taken.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, that's a legit beat in this skyscrapers story, Margali Shardos comes back, he's working with Mother Righteous.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: and they pull Kurt's hope out of him and call it the hope sword.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's a real thing that exists.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: So this is very much a night crawler story, but there's a lot of parallels where this can fit.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: So we should pause here for a moment.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: Joe, we take time to tell us about the great ring of Morocco.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's key players, kind of it's governmental structure.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: It gets very complicated if we want it to be.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, so according to the fandom Wiki, the Greg Ring of Racco makes an unnamed appearance in X-Men Volume 5, number 12 in September of 2020, and then is named for the first time on panel X-Men, number 16 in December of 2020.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_03]: So the great ring, and it mirrors the quiet council
- 39:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's a governing body.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_03]: It was originally formed on Ocarra, and then after the island was separate, it became the main ruling body of Oracle for thousands of years.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_03]: except for the period when a raccoe is ruled by annihilation.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: So we already cover this, but annihilation is by the way, the god of, like, amen, that lay us.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the shadow king that, like, you wear as mask, and you, like, corrupts your soul, basically.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_03]: So to reiterate, the great ring has three basic rules, make more mutants, destroyal enemies, and defend a raccoe.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so only Omega level, me and start permitted to occupy any of the nine me seats, so that reflects the ideology of a raccoe where only the fittest, only the strongest, only the most powerful can be in power.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_03]: Um, if you're not an Omega level me when you can't be on one of the main seats, um, so in order to gain a seat, you have to challenge a city in council member and that's the circle perilous.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_03]: Or are I telling the gods if you put themselves the Iraqi, also if you put themselves, but that also means that you can challenge anybody and say, you know, I don't think you're doing a really good job on this great ring.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to take you on in combat and if I win, then now I have your seat and now I'm on the great ring.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_03]: So we have the three.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, we have the nine main seats, and then we also have three hidden nine seats, so the night seats function as spies that would bring information to the organization.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_03]: There was a little bit of a disdain towards Genesis, who we will get to later, so the night seats were typically limited to advisors.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_03]: And I believe that they also were non-omega level mutants, is that correct?
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean they can be, so there's room to not be in Omega if you're on one of the secret seeds.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: So the night seeds are the ones that operate in private, basically.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, um, so we have Dawn, which is deferred two in times of war.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and the seats of the seats of Dawn.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so seat of victory.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_03]: Seed of stalemate and seat of loss.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_03]: So originally, Esca had the seat of victory.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_03]: I still had the seat of stalemate and torn in carrying had the seat of loss.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_03]: Um,
- 41:22[SPEAKER_03]: Next.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: God do I want to do a turning on episode one day.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_03]: God.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_03]: I love him.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, awful, but very fun.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_03]: Amazing.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_03]: So the seats of day, they are deferred to in times of peace.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_03]: So that is, uh, Latuka, seat of above us, Aurora, seat of all around us.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_03]: And so banar, your favorite scene of below us, these will all change periodically.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_03]: This is what I really love about XMrend is that's basically game of thrones up into space with new ints.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_03]: Because there's so much politics and going back to our conversation about Storm, what I really love about this book is that it's putting Storm as a political figure rather than just like an Omega Mutant.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_03]: So, moving on, we also have the seats of dust, which it says they are never deferred to, but they are still consulted on more conceptual matters.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_03]: So, that's an interesting spot for them to be in.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_03]: So, aura is the seat of law.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_03]: Zylo, seat of history, and lotus, logos is the seat of dreams.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_03]: And then finally, we have the seats of night.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_03]: So, they basically kind of work to check the other seats.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_03]: Kind of like a checks and balances day.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_03]: So is this scissor of the smoke, Saisa?
- 42:33[SPEAKER_03]: Saisa, I believe, yeah.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, seed of nowhere.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_03]: The Fisher King, seed of nothing, and then Sunspot takes the seed of nobody.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: And all of these, excuse me, all of these characters are given just a little bit of history, yeah, a little bit of potential.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are explored really beautifully, but they're kind of a cast of characters that we just get to watch kind of slowly die.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: The series, like they're, they're lost one at a time as they like, they, they, you know, understand the consequence of not living forever anymore, right?
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: But it's also a parallel to uncreco, and they live forever in this corrupt world, with their society, with their
- 43:10[SPEAKER_01]: So, there's a lot we can say about all of this.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: Joe, was it fun for you to prep this content?
- 43:15[SPEAKER_03]: Don't forget to this.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I was just a lot of details of like trying to make sure I understood like all of the different like seats and who was in them because it's a lot of like, well, this person was replaced by this person or this person unsat this person.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_03]: So, it's, and then there's like seats that will at the, by the time we get to the end of this recording.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_03]: Well, they'll be vacant or these characters are no longer around.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like, it's literally like Game of Thrones, where it's like, oh, your favorite character is probably not going to have a good time here.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's probably not going to make it out at the end.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: And there's room for everyone to exist, whether you're evil or good, because they don't really judge it that way.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: But the most important character around is Tarn the uncaring.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: Who is just this horrible, horrible evil version of like Mr. Sinister?
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: who can basically rewrite your genome, like he manipulates DNA.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: And he has this tower where he just, where he just messes with the shit powers.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: So in the helliance, this guy is used quite prominently.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, in a recent Judd McCay comic, the Sugar Man has now taken over the Locust Vile tower, which is a very occurring one, which is crazy.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we're going to jump to X-Men Red 3-4 and we're keeping this focused on Orissa Rada.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: Vulkan, the evil brother of Cyclops and Havik, has challenged Tarn the uncaring for the seed of loss.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: Vulkan isn't a mega mutant.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_01]: So, high over the area sits Orissa Rada because it's her job to watch all the battles.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: There's the point it out, Vulcan is present, Torn is present, begin the challenge.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: But during the fight, Sunspot, who, you know, how bad I thought it was, I don't know who we love, is sitting over on the side, and he's like kind of flirting with like, Iskati Adbyton, and he's like, I bet you can't lose a match, and he just like,
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: by flirting with her gets her to influence the game so that Tarn will lose and in the end Magneto steps and kills Tarn and claims the seat of Loss himself and is guys fucking pissed and murders on spot who later gets resurrected so there's a whole story going on with this guy here later the great ring meets Magneto takes the seat away it's this is uh yeah this is just words Magneto takes
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: We must know this is aura, and Magneo takes the seed of loss, and as he sits, we must ask the most obvious question, what is the meaning of loss, what is the meaning of death, and Magneo and Storm give up their ability to be resurrected so that they can feel welcome among this group.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: A text page tells us that death is meant to be the end of an Iraqi.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: They did not want resurrection.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: We are not afraid of a life that ends.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_01]: So Iska gets frustrated and she's so pissed and or I remind her, Magnet, I want using his chosen weapon.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: No law was broken Iska.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: If to cost a speaking a few words to you, look at under my in that, perhaps he is not the problem.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_01]: And it's because, like, don't cast your E-Li at me, or you may go blind.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: And Magnetman Storm take their seats in the group.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's excellent.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: So that's X-Men Red.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have any comments, Numb?
- 46:21[SPEAKER_04]: I think the, the entirety of that scenario is very hilarious to me, just because I love seeing someone get under isca skin.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_04]: When you first meet her, she's very confident.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_04]: She, like, basically is a little arrogant.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_04]: Well, not a little a lot arrogant because she knows she can't get beaten.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_04]: So,
- 46:48[SPEAKER_04]: You know, just his existence is being not any mutant powers to just like kind of get her to do what you want and by the time she realizes it's too late.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_04]: The other point that I think is really great here is that that is the the opposites of Croco and the Araco being a powerful display here where it's like while the Crocoans get to.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_04]: you know, be resurrected.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_04]: If you're really going to be one of us, like you have to be one of us.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_04]: And so for a rural and for my needle to decide, yeah, we're not going to do the resurrection thing.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's really like terrifying.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_04]: So it was really fun for me as a reader like reading it the first time.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_04]: Be like, oh God, where she dies.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_04]: But of course, like we know how things play out in the end.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_04]: So.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: So jumping back over to Legion of X, and none of you'll read for Zen again here.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: Weaponless Zen is reporting back to aura, who's her boss, basically.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_01]: About the hunt for this character, this god that they're looking for called the skin jackar.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: And we're not going to jump into this, but the skin jackar has powered up.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: A character named Switch, who is a previously established mutant from an old X-force comic, and there's some shit happening, and mother righteous has involved, there's other shit happening with her.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get to her later.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: So whereas reporting back in on their hunt for the skin jacker, excuse me, I said it or Zen is reporting back to aura about the hunt for the skin jacker, and she says.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_04]: Arbitrics.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_04]: I have access for Coins of Anand's files.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_04]: I regret to report nothing of value was revealed.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_04]: If the future of God is here, nobody is speaking of it.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_04]: These people man, they're preoccupied with banalities.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_04]: Romance's, cultures, comforts.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe that's the difference, Arbitrics.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_04]: Where we Iraqi have been sculpted by survival, where we measure peace
- 48:41[SPEAKER_04]: Does that make them weak?
- 48:43[SPEAKER_04]: Blind them to the predators and their mists?
- 48:46[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not so sure.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_04]: In fact, arbitrics, it seems to me that a people who obsess over connections enjoy a thousand powerful eyes watching their bags, where they only see ourselves.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_04]: Where we don't see ourselves, excuse me.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: I certainly see you, weaponless Zen, waxing lyrical on alien decadence as a prelude to failure.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_01]: Our field answers know the future of God fled to Krakoway, yet you are the only Iraqi visitor there.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: It must have new worshippers among them.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, ma'am, but whereas it would seem simple to detect the changes in behavior that speak to culture or cult worship, eccentric modes of thought are normal among these people.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_00]: So you can see you are an aptitude, you quit never arbitrics.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_04]: Perhaps if I knew more about the God's worshipers before I fled Iraq out, I could build a profile.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: And that is not pertinent to your inquiry.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_01]: She's giving very unbridged thrones.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I was intending to free.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_04]: Excuse me.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_04]: I know.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_04]: That is um, or a. Oh, yep.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was intending to free you from your vow of service after this mission.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: I know peacetime, chiefs at you.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: I dare say you yearn to join one of the mercenary bands leaving a raccoe with all the other war addicts who can't adapt.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: Find that God is in.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: Find him in nothing more.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: Do not engage him.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_01]: Do not listen to the lies of a trickster.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_01]: Find him in contact me.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_01]: I will acquaint him with a Rackie law.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_01]: Do these things, and I shall release you from the inward watch?
- 50:30[SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise, humiliation, degradation, destruction, I shall sit with myself.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so she's fucking hiding something, right?
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we get that.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_01]: She's, she's come to love.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_01]: So Zen finally noted, like, locates the skin jacca god on Krakowash, he returns to a raco, where Aura has departed and left strict orders present to be killed by the inward watch.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_01]: So she doesn't want any witnesses.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_01]: And she soon learns that Aura Sarata was the one who summoned the skinwalker to a raco, because she wanted someone to worship.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: And she's told the truth about his origins, and Orasarata waits at the outcast gate on Arako, flanked by the inward watch.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm summing through a lot of this, but she's betraying her tentant, like she's anti-God, but she has summoned a God because she wants to increase her own power, basically.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: The inward watch are announcing her presence.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_01]: Or lots of moves among you cover your eyes and make way for the obitrix of a raccoe and we jump to issue 5.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: Aurora, Aurora, Aurora, Aurora has arrived at the altar where she demands with five fugitives of God.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_01]: And Dr.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_01]: Nemesis is here.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: This is an old Nazi scientist who's obsessed with science and he has mushrooms growing out of his own head, gross.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_01]: Did I look my own head or is that a giant floating eyeball being written by a baby's body?
- 51:54[SPEAKER_04]: He asks, which is it's great like reading like reading him and like knowing he's just a menace society is hilarious but like then this entire interaction where he's like talking about it is hilarious to me because I'm just like laughing is like I don't want to die from this giant eye.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not hallucinating, did I lick my own head?
- 52:14[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_01]: Nightcrawler warns, or this is not a good time, and she receives, she says, received my appropriate nightcrawler of Proclawed.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_01]: Name for which was good news.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_01]: So he points out that aura was the one who had not only created, but then warshiped tumult, the trickster god, and she's like,
- 52:33[SPEAKER_01]: She's been using him to her own means until he found a new worshipper in the mutant switch.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: So now she's pissed off.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: So she was using this god.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now she wants revenge.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_01]: So she's been caught in the lie.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_01]: And she's caught when she uses the god's name despite not saying that she hadn't known it before.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: So Nightcrawler finally catches her and he says,
- 52:53[SPEAKER_03]: You told me that in times of civil unease, all Iraqi deferred to the chair of law, is that what all this was about, you invoke to God of chaos, you enslaved it with threats, you broke your own law, all to incite anarchy, a pretext to let you seize control.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_03]: But something went wrong, nine.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_03]: You cannot give it the faith that needed, only to stain, so it fled to Krakowat.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_03]: It was easy prey for the first monster of a Greedus sacrifice in its name.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: And the inward watch is listening, you've done a foolish thing, and you've done a foolish thing, and I've followed percolant to challenge me in public.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_03]: This is not a raccoe, man.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_03]: There will be no challenge.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_03]: You have caused great trauma.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: So he tries to formally arrest Boris the Rada, which yay, but aura denies, denies him.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_01]: She turns her evil eye, her bailfire on the crowd, killing several people, wiping them out of the existence.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know who these people were.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_01]: They're just gone forever.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_01]: You can not hide that prominent name for beautiful allies.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm using this voice and my zoom keeps popping up and text box.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_01]: This says, are you trying to listen to music?
- 53:56[SPEAKER_01]: Which is really funny to me.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_01]: Her actions threatened the entire
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: And the altar, by the way, is Legion, Legion has created like a physical existence on the astral plane, kind of like within his mind because he has billions of things.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: So she's like shooting Bay of Fire around, which could like wipe out all of existence, which is a, again, a wheel of time story.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: So everyone's in danger.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_01]: Nightcrawler and Legion turn against her, all of the personalities are being sent against aura, and she's like zapping them out of existence.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_01]: Legion could always make more it's fine.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_01]: taking them out one at a time and the sound effect whenever she blips someone out of existence is simply XOT, XOT, XOT, XOT, XOT, XOT.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: A tumult to the trickster god uses magic to reflect thousands of mirrors back on her, which is the perfect thing to do to Oursurata, and then he comes up and he grips the little baby on top of the eyeball.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: It says, try using your powers now,
- 54:55[SPEAKER_00]: abomination, freak, unhand me, I believed in you.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_00]: You are me.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_01]: So this is her god that she was manipulating, but then weaponless Zen steps in and says,
- 55:11[SPEAKER_04]: of or Sarata, you are hereby challenged under the terms of the god law to present your D.T.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_04]: to the circle perilous, there to defend its utility.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_00]: So you, you would cite my own law against me, quote, all that I have done, I have done for an echo.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_00]: In law, we were strong and law, we were united.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_00]: These crocolans, these faded echoes of our lineage by saving us, they stole our purpose.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_00]: When I am so authority, I shall return a rocky to the ever war, but you, you will never again see battle.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_00]: I am the first of the twilight seats.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_00]: I am the scourge of deity.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_01]: None are here that made judge me.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_01]: But then, fucking storm arrives.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_01]: Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-
- 55:58[SPEAKER_01]: And she agrees to keep or as secrets for a price.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_01]: She later writes to Knight Crawler the following.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_04]: During my investigation on Morocco, I visited multiple locations where the god of mistured had raw its chaos, childish acts of de-stabilization, writ large enough to pose a threat to the safety of the Iraqi and the efficiency of their way.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_04]: That would be efficacy of their ways, excuse me.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_04]: We now know these crimes were ordered by Osirata, calculated to trigger civil unrest and social hold.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_04]: Her own elevation to authority.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_04]: Here's what I learned.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_04]: She had already failed.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_04]: Wherever the God made its mischief, people adapted, new relationships, new solutions, ingenuity flourished were old ways faulted.
- 56:47[SPEAKER_04]: or a thought that by causing chaos, she could make people embrace old systems of order.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_04]: Instead, they innovated new strengths from the wreckage.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_04]: We stopped or from erasing the evidence of a coup, but we did not prevent it.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_04]: The people did that.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_04]: You were right, you and your silly spark, mischief, creativity, recklessness, such things are mightier than the law.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_04]: Mightier than the violence that I have spent my life craving.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_04]: We had all come to glory by trying new things, or not at all.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_04]: There's no weapon material than an idea.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_04]: And yet, Kurt, there are optics to consider.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_04]: Some things need to be done by the book and seem to be done before we tear up the book itself.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_04]: Mind you, I think that with a little cleverness, with a little of your spark-night crawler, one may satisfy both convention and transformation.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_04]: They're idealists who make the world better curd, and there are pragmatists who make it less awful.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_04]: It is kinder to the former that they know nothing of the latter.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_04]: or Sarata has been humbled, and yet it is your lesson current, your gift to encourage us to think differently, to embrace the unforeseen outcome where violence and duality would otherwise prevail.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_04]: We may change our route, we may even step off the path itself, and yet our footprints remain, our scars, our pains, our worst instincts.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_01]: So this is a beautiful story.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's survival of the fittest.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's really a story about separation of church and state at the end of the day, which is a crazy thing to consider.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_01]: So what that is held accountable to repeat that one line from storm.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_01]: There are idealists who make the world better occurred.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_01]: And there are pragmatists who make it less awful.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's kinder to the former that they know nothing of the latter.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_01]: which is just a beautiful poetic statement.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_01]: This is gorgeous sci-fi, sci-spirrier, fucking just bravo, it's gorgeous.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_01]: Our footprints remain, our scars, our pains, our worst instincts.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so, Orasarata revokes the god-law.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then, she wipes out the head of Ukesh, that the second head of the box that's been there for a hundred years, it is wiped out of existence.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_00]: Let the Iraqi believe what they will let us accept that meaning need not be derived from utility.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: Let us accept the power of change and then weaponless Zen is released from her service.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_01]: And she paints an image of Nightcrawler that's gorgeous because she paints truth and departs off on some space adventures after that.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_01]: We later get a scene of the baby body throwing a tantrum.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_01]: the ground.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's not fair, it's not fair, it's not the floor.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_01]: And then we get the big reveal that she's been working for mother righteous the entire time.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_01]: Mother righteous, there's no way to do this simply.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_01]: Mr. Sinister is Nathaniel Essex, who makes a deal with Apocalypse for Darwinian exploration and has become this creature, but we learn during Morocco that there are three other
- 59:56[SPEAKER_01]: Orbus Stilaris, not Oras Sarata.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mixed these two up.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_01]: Orbus Stilaris has been enough to explore like space science.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_01]: One is Dr. Seistaseus, who has explored the potential of human advancement, and then mother righteous is the lady one.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_01]: The one in red, the one that demand the Martini loves to dress as.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_01]: And she was exploring magic, and she wants to create all of them our task with creating the elevation of Mr. Sinister to Godlike proportions by the sacrifice of billions and billions across timelines.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_01]: Mother Regis is playing a huge game where she's trading in favors and she carries all the favors around with little balloons that float up her back.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_01]: If you say thank you mother righteous, you fucking she owns you forever.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's the story with this woman and she's trying to create a world where she gets to elevate sinister or herself up to this like godlike level.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's the story very quickly.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to keep this async.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_01]: So, or Serada, not only someone to God to believe in, but she has made a deal with mother righteous.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_01]: mother righteous tells ORA that it was her own arrogance and disdain that caused her failure and her soul basically gets sucked out by mother righteous when she is forced to say thank you at the end of this story.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, wow, wow, wow, I want to come back and we'll explore some of the nuances of this but let's cover the rest of the history very quickly.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_01]: Legion of X number 6, we get to see aura helping fight off the weapons of Uranus.
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_01]: Uranus is the crazy powerful eternal who unleashes all the weapons on Araco and wipes out huge portions of their civilization.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_01]: In X-Men Red Number 5, the planet has been devastated, and at a great ring council meeting, Iska kills Eidel, who is another member, the future teller, and then you're in us attacks, or at turns her evil eye on you're in us.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_01]: Seast to be, you will cease to be, the eye of the maw is upon you, but he simply replies, no, he doesn't honor her laws, and then he punches her in the eye, and the sound effect as she falls is,
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_01]: you guys know this upset.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_04]: I don't like it because I know she doesn't have any eyelids.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_04]: Of course, she's gonna be like, you're all in liquidy eye.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_04]: Gross.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_04]: No, I hate I'm sorry.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_01]: So let's look at us who's another character here who speaks in Hiku.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's great.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: Is tending to or as Aracco's devastated?
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_01]: Or what was maimed only gouged in the eye, but the baby body was untouched.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_01]: She has survived much worse, but her weapon will require healing.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_01]: We jump forward a couple of issues to X-Men Red Number 7.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_01]: You're in a suspectly defeated, but so many people are dead.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Zylo is withered, magneto is dead.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_01]: Iska is accused and ora says, there is not true precedent for this situation to have one of the great rainkill and other outside the circle in a time of war, even Tarn never dared take that step.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_01]: So Iska quits the council, the night seat takes over, and the night seats take over, and the seats are down to six.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_01]: So Ora is furious when storm simply yields her seat of all around us, over to Lotus Logos, who can then chart the future of Eraco.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_01]: but then Aurora takes Magneto's place as the seed of loss, which sets us up for now the world is devastated and Genesis is back.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to jump to X-Men Red 13 through 18 with the focus on Orasarata here a little bit.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_01]: But, no more, do you want to tell us about the Genesis War?
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_04]: So the genesis war is an insane kind of parallel story running to everything that's going to happen during the fall of act.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_04]: It's no fucking good.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_04]: It's so good.
- 1:03:47[SPEAKER_04]: It is a storm like story.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_04]: like it gets like whittles her down to like her principles and how she is as a leader again in this like really grand stage of like now we're fighting like a war for a planet and not just for the planet but for the future of all of these mutants that rely on her.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_04]: And at the same time, it's like she's facing kind of conflict on all fronts, not just from Genesis, you know, coming back and, you know, wanting to, you surfer, but also, you know, her friends on earth are all kind of like in really big trouble, or because it's finally making
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_04]: And so she has to really choose how she's going to handle things.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_04]: And so she decides she can't allow for Genesis to kind of take over.
- 1:04:42[SPEAKER_04]: She's has to fight back.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_04]: And so it's a really great view of how Aurora handles war and how she has to make some seriously tough decisions that's really really interesting.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_04]: It's really great.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot of focus on like the the forging of Arako society in this time of war in a month because there's this never ending war.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_01]: There's these demons that are just forever going to attack them, right?
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a lot of characters woven in annihilation is a big part of this but Genesis is kind of the matriarch of this entire society, right, along with her children.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_01]: So she's back, but she's under the control of this evil God.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_01]: Do you want to talk about the journey of storm versus Genesis with a little bit of focus on like what happens to aura during this story?
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_04]: So when I went in I was really focused on like how this is all playing out with aura and I realized with annihilation it is.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_04]: really this being of control.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_04]: And so it's possessing all of the the characters, the or many of the characters, the same way it's possessing Genesis.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_04]: And it does it this really interesting way in Xman Red 13.
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_04]: We
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_04]: When Genesis shows that, she now has, they believe that annihilation is gone because the mask had been destroyed, but she has this staff and the staff has that face, the annihilation face on it and it speaks and when it speaks or notices that it says something but Genesis kind of plays it off and then then it takes possession or kind of influences the others around her to Genesis wins.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_04]: And it's so interesting because as you meet the other characters who may not have necessarily agreed with a role, but were, you know, following kind of the lead and, you know, telling the line, once Genesis comes in at an annihilation kind of puts that whisper in their ear, they immediately turn.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's so easy because like the great ring has these connections to their old ways, but we have after the war with Uranus, the ruling structure has been wiped out, right?
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_01]: There are some people like aura who are still there from before, but we also have new people like Quebec never held and John Irnfire and Lyacon, two wolves,
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_01]: who are kind of the new blood and like this is a fledgling government.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_01]: And here's this old person who wants to take over, right?
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like Genesis is the one that led us to war.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_01]: Why would we not trust her?
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_01]: Why would we trust Aurora?
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the new one among us?
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_01]: Why would we not?
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_04]: And wants to take it back to like what they knew before.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_04]: like there's, you know, familiarity and like, oh, we spent hundreds and hundreds of years at war, Genesis was there.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_04]: She knows how to govern.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_04]: She knows how to lead this new stuff after Uranus and all the destruction.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_04]: Like if Genesis had been here, would that have happened?
- 1:07:31[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe we have become soft.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_04]: It's really a questioning of who the, the Racky are becoming.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_04]: And is it, you know, do we revert back to the old ways and what's familiar to us?
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_04]: Or do we take steps into something that's different and new?
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_04]: And if we do take steps into that new stuff, has that made us weak?
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_04]: Are we now correct how wins?
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_04]: Or do we, you know, go back to what Genesis, you know, let us through and become our more solid selves?
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_01]: So the idea of storm representing new ways, but Genesis representing the old, where does or a fall into this?
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_04]: Or as definitely on the side of the old, she, I believe, agrees with the old ways, the old traditions, because I think she does the herself as above all of these, you know.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_04]: cocoon human mortal ish things that are more earthly things that may be not mortal, but definitely earthly things she sees herself and just based off of her conversations with Kurt like oh you don't understand you know because you're you know uncultured or you don't have the same kind of upbringing that we've had your week and you know this society that they've built is based on you know the strong being in charge.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_04]: And she I think believes that Aurora was making them soft and making them weak and which is why they were so much death and destruction from Uranus.
- 1:08:56[SPEAKER_01]: And so there is more declared.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_01]: There's all these mega mutants.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_01]: Sunspot is here.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_01]: Nova is here.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_01]: There's all these kinds of a mega.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_01]: There's there's ore on the mega rocket.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be unbeaten around who's trying to kind of stay out of it all and the warps happening in front of these giant statues of Apocalypse and Genesis and they're getting ripped apart at a story.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now the Fisher King plays a big role here.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_01]: The Fisher King is a character who kind of doesn't have any power, who just kind of got tossed aside.
- 1:09:28[SPEAKER_01]: But now he is being bolstered up.
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_01]: Do you want to talk about the Fisher King's journey at all?
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_04]: So the Fisher King is such an interesting character because like he said, he didn't have any power.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_04]: So when they were trapped in Emmeth, he was basically a slave to all of the other mutants Anoraco.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_04]: So now that they're out, now that they are on Mars, he's kind of developed relationships with the other characters around him and kind of had to come to it and understanding of like what life is like outside of all of that.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_04]: And so he gets bonded.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's with
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so Zylo is a character that we have to introduce very quickly.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_01]: Zylo is like a colony species of like the oldest pieces of Araco or Ocara even like it's the they're called like the first defender and their basic powers is that they can manipulate Earth and they're like
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_01]: can take over other people through like all of these like worm beings.
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, it's like a city of where it's like a colony of worms that are like really, it's fucking powerful, which is which is a really interesting.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_01]: So, Zylo bonds with the Fisher King and comes in to like make some changes
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_01]: during key parts of this war, where Genesis can control plants.
- 1:10:42[SPEAKER_01]: So Genesis weaponizes a Rocco specifically against storm.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's like a giant battle with this huge being that represents the land under the control of Genesis in the middle of all of this.
- 1:10:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's quite dramatic storytelling.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a moment where again,
- 1:11:04[SPEAKER_01]: Or Seroute is really trying to let Lash on to the old ways.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_01]: There's a couple of closeups of this weird baby being who's wearing like a like a gold diaper and like a pink bikini
- 1:11:15[SPEAKER_01]: Let's think she's like, she's like, she's like darling yourself up in some key moments.
- 1:11:21[SPEAKER_01]: So battle escalates people are having to really choose sides.
- 1:11:26[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a lot of commentary on like art and culture and pleasure and where they fit into society.
- 1:11:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's epic epic storytelling by all-you-ing as they are facing the old gods and characters are dying.
- 1:11:39[SPEAKER_01]: Where do things wind up for
- 1:11:45[SPEAKER_04]: So as the battle ranges on I feel like they're like it's close to be close to like I mean like over it's over 70 days for sure closer to like 100 days of war in the planet is like literally burning around literally after the horseman comes through I think it's war that like sets fire to basically everything
- 1:12:04[SPEAKER_04]: You know, there's a lot of a trail happening, death joins, a rural side, a pop-lip shows that.
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_04]: And so basically it comes down to this final battle.
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_01]: A rural, let me pause you.
- 1:12:14[SPEAKER_01]: A rural has access to what they call the Uranus trigger.
- 1:12:18[SPEAKER_01]: So there's like the Uranus they defeated, the way they defeated him, there's like a God level weapon that could be, it's like a nuke, basically, that a rural could choose to use it a key moment, but she chooses not to use it.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_01]: She doesn't want to devastate the world to make change.
- 1:12:33[SPEAKER_04]: which a lot of the characters question.
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_04]: So specifically, you know, Ironfire, he really is upset with her for not using it, especially when they know they're gonna lose or they're really afraid they're gonna lose because Genesis has just amassed so much power and just devastated their armies.
- 1:12:52[SPEAKER_04]: So in the last issue.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_01]: And then the chemo-moto-pocalypse comes back, right?
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_01]: This is a big reveal, yeah.
- 1:12:58[SPEAKER_04]: Um, huge reveal, um, which is so interesting to I think that dynamic where he is manipulating things, but not directly confronting his wife, Genesis about it.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I think it's so interesting.
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_04]: He's choosing kind of to stay out of it, but he sees that there needs to be a step away from the old ways and into this new future.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_04]: And which however that might look, he understands that they have to
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_04]: What we see happening is he ends up doing magic, making more mutant magic.
- 1:13:32[SPEAKER_01]: You can just like fancy ways of like working mutant powers together if you.
- 1:13:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 1:13:37[SPEAKER_04]: And he brings in Sun's fire and Red Root, along with his... Red Root being the mutant spokesperson for the land, basically.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a land mutant.
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, so it's like an earth wind or earth air, fire, water kind of thing.
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_04]: He takes a box of six to the place of water.
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_04]: His demon or it takes the place of air, uh, um, then Vulcan, he manipulates into taking the place of fire and then uses a row as kind of the conduit for all of this magic.
- 1:14:08[SPEAKER_04]: All of these powers working simultaneously to then create another living island.
- 1:14:13[SPEAKER_01]: And on Racerata is fucking pissed.
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_01]: She's in the middle of this battle, just he yelling.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Nip and this is then is backed by the way and or Racerata is to see her and and so at the height of her power, Racerata is like eyeball, like the pupil takes up like the most of the giant eyeball and at the end it's this little teeny tiny teeny pupil.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_04]: Because she also
- 1:14:34[SPEAKER_04]: When they go to do this battle, Aurora is facing Genesis head on their two islands fighting.
- 1:14:39[SPEAKER_04]: And so the rest of Genesis army then goes to attack the rest of Aurora's.
- 1:14:44[SPEAKER_04]: And Aurora is basically like, I'm just going to vaporize everyone.
- 1:14:47[SPEAKER_04]: So everyone stand back.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't matter anymore.
- 1:14:49[SPEAKER_04]: Let me just zoom in my giant eyeball and I'm going to vaporize everyone.
- 1:14:52[SPEAKER_04]: and she zooms in on our boy science bot and using core of the burning heart's application powers, she amplifies him to make him burn basically like the sun and or a seeing him is by bit.
- 1:15:06[SPEAKER_01]: So he says as he's burning super bright, he says, or a sarana never stare into the sun, which is a complete problem of it.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, oh, I'm blind.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_00]: Wither's a way to nothing.
- 1:15:19[SPEAKER_00]: She's throwing tantrums.
- 1:15:20[SPEAKER_00]: There's all you, there's gonna go on, I am the law of this land, the law is in the lies, all the lie in the law.
- 1:15:28[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, bitch, you lie and leave it alone.
- 1:15:31[SPEAKER_01]: The Fisher King has bonded with Zylo, and then releases Zylo to bond with ora.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_01]: Talk to us about this transformation.
- 1:15:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now, because now we're eyeball horror at amplified levels.
- 1:15:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's a giant eyeball covered in worms now, Rua.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_04]: And like, my brain is imagining all these worms like are alive and like moving.
- 1:15:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:15:50[SPEAKER_04]: Because that's how they look on the page.
- 1:15:52[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, no, I hate it even more.
- 1:15:56[SPEAKER_03]: Just writhing all over ora.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_01]: So now we have Iba or Sarata covered in worms and stormwinds the war.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_00]: Storm was one, annihilation is gone.
- 1:16:07[SPEAKER_00]: The challenge was witnessed by Latuka and through her eyes I witnessed it too.
- 1:16:13[SPEAKER_00]: The war has fought on false, the war has fought on false law and false history.
- 1:16:18[SPEAKER_01]: Let there be an end to such things.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_01]: Let there be an end to this eye.
- 1:16:22[SPEAKER_01]: We now have the names Zailora.
- 1:16:24[SPEAKER_01]: So it's Zailora and Ora.
- 1:16:26[SPEAKER_00]: All right, I know what I have spoken.
- 1:16:28[SPEAKER_00]: Who will define me?
- 1:16:29[SPEAKER_00]: Who will define me for a broken mask?
- 1:16:33[SPEAKER_01]: Talk to us about this ending of it's amazing.
- 1:16:36[SPEAKER_04]: So one of the newbies on the Great Ring, Lyokin.
- 1:16:43[SPEAKER_04]: He decides that he wants to keep going.
- 1:16:45[SPEAKER_04]: He's not about ending the swore.
- 1:16:47[SPEAKER_04]: He wants to keep going.
- 1:16:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's a giant sexy, two-headed wolf.
- 1:16:50[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 1:16:51[SPEAKER_04]: It's like a weird, like two-headed wolf on top of it.
- 1:16:56[SPEAKER_04]: It's so interesting, but he decides that he wants to keep going and she just vaporizes it.
- 1:17:03[SPEAKER_04]: It's like not, I said we're done.
- 1:17:05[SPEAKER_02]: You're done here.
- 1:17:06[SPEAKER_04]: So literally vaporizes him, which is both tragic and hilarious, and then challenges anyone else to defy her, basically referencing the broken mask of annihilation as she does so.
- 1:17:17[SPEAKER_04]: And no one challenges her.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, or Sarata, now is Zailora, so the combined consciousness of this character, Zailora, who's the ancient embodiment of the land in a way has now bonded with the eyeball, who has gone blind and now she has to learn a new way to see.
- 1:17:33[SPEAKER_01]: We don't exactly know what that means for this character, but wow, what the fuck?
- 1:17:37[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and now her power was originally existency ratio, but now she's connected to this like worm bonding, like land manipulation.
- 1:17:46[SPEAKER_01]: And Iraq was still out there, right?
- 1:17:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we're seeing it referenced in the modern books.
- 1:17:51[SPEAKER_01]: Jed has the sugar man in the Lucas Vile Tower now.
- 1:17:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's a playable land.
- 1:17:56[SPEAKER_01]: We're seeing it in the future of like the Age of Revelation.
- 1:17:59[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know where Ora is at with all of that.
- 1:18:01[SPEAKER_01]: We also have seen Genesis, like, a Genesis at the end of this goes off and is like formed a new brotherhood.
- 1:18:07[SPEAKER_01]: And we haven't seen that followed up on yet either.
- 1:18:09[SPEAKER_01]: So all of this is still playable out there.
- 1:18:11[SPEAKER_04]: I think they're on the moon, right?
- 1:18:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, they're off.
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_01]: They're off just like waiting for battle.
- 1:18:16[SPEAKER_01]: This is epic fucking storytelling.
- 1:18:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's excellent.
- 1:18:19[SPEAKER_04]: And they have a night crawler in like a tank.
- 1:18:22[SPEAKER_00]: There's like a night crawler clone.
- 1:18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:18:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, which is there's there's a lot going on in all of this resolution.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Need a follow up on the conclusion of X-Men Red.
- 1:18:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's fucking amazing.
- 1:18:38[SPEAKER_01]: Joe, do you have any comments on the ending?
- 1:18:40[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, I mean, it was, it's just an epic story, like the part where they do like the magic me in circuit, like I think that's one of the coolest uses of the me in circuit in any book that we've seen.
- 1:18:53[SPEAKER_03]: And then there's the part where like storm is like, Oh, you fight for whatever it's like then raise your island fighting now we have to giant islands just do Can it out and then there's like an army that comes in and like or as Trying to vaporize everybody it's just so much happening and it's like you want to like read it so quickly But you also want to like slow down because you want to save every moment, especially knowing that this the end Of course, this isn't the end of storm story because then we get the follow up, which is resurrection of magneto
- 1:19:22[SPEAKER_03]: which is also incredible.
- 1:19:24[SPEAKER_03]: And just build off of this story in a really big way.
- 1:19:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I really love this.
- 1:19:30[SPEAKER_01]: So Zano is a colony of like insects that's been around since the very, very beginning.
- 1:19:35[SPEAKER_01]: We almost want to take it back to like threshold.
- 1:19:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like one of the original brothers of cricoa or okara or cricoa, you know, like in the big
- 1:19:44[SPEAKER_01]: The measuring of Zylo kind of dying and then the Fisher King giving up his life to transfer him over to Orah.
- 1:19:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a merging of, because Orah's Orah's Orah's Orah's not a great person, right?
- 1:19:59[SPEAKER_01]: She's very self-obsessed.
- 1:20:00[SPEAKER_01]: She's obsessed with war.
- 1:20:02[SPEAKER_01]: She's willing to break the fucking rules while she's touting the law.
- 1:20:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's Dolores Umbridge covered in worms.
- 1:20:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's where we landed at the end of all of this.
- 1:20:10[SPEAKER_01]: This is epic storytelling and it like leaves me like charged up with the potential of all of this.
- 1:20:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's so good.
- 1:20:17[SPEAKER_01]: Sysperia and all-you-ing are buddies.
- 1:20:19[SPEAKER_01]: I know they work together.
- 1:20:20[SPEAKER_01]: I've met Al.
- 1:20:21[SPEAKER_01]: I have not met Sy.
- 1:20:22[SPEAKER_01]: I wish I would.
- 1:20:23[SPEAKER_01]: But like this is epic.
- 1:20:24[SPEAKER_01]: How are we feeling about Orissa Rada first as a character?
- 1:20:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to toss like three things your way and we'll be done in about 15 minutes.
- 1:20:31[SPEAKER_01]: We okay on time.
- 1:20:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just checking in with you both.
- 1:20:33[SPEAKER_01]: Number one, this is a survival of the fittest story.
- 1:20:36[SPEAKER_01]: What does it mean to be the fittest?
- 1:20:38[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't mean the strongest.
- 1:20:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how do we change what that means?
- 1:20:43[SPEAKER_01]: Let me hear your thoughts on that.
- 1:20:44[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go Joe first.
- 1:20:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so I think the concept of the survival of the fittest is interesting because you could look at it as an individual perspective where you can look at it as more of a communal thing.
- 1:20:55[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like, like that's a apocalypse.
- 1:20:57[SPEAKER_03]: This idea is to make the race stronger.
- 1:21:00[SPEAKER_03]: How do we make the race stronger so that we can survive?
- 1:21:05[SPEAKER_03]: She's willing to exploit the laws that she apparently upholds if it means advancing herself.
- 1:21:12[SPEAKER_03]: She's also very resistant to change.
- 1:21:15[SPEAKER_03]: So when Storm comes in and says, here is a new approach.
- 1:21:18[SPEAKER_03]: Here's a different way.
- 1:21:19[SPEAKER_03]: Do you want to be trapped in this vicious cycle of violence?
- 1:21:23[SPEAKER_03]: Or do you want to break out of that cycle?
- 1:21:24[SPEAKER_03]: So we don't have this violence.
- 1:21:27[SPEAKER_03]: or doesn't want to embrace change.
- 1:21:29[SPEAKER_03]: She's very resistant to that.
- 1:21:31[SPEAKER_03]: She wants to remain in the past.
- 1:21:33[SPEAKER_03]: And I think if you don't, if you're not willing to embrace change, you're doomed to be left behind.
- 1:21:39[SPEAKER_03]: So that we have to actually drag or into the future.
- 1:21:43[SPEAKER_03]: Like, Zyla literally drags or in is like, if you're not willing to work with us, then we will force you to work with us.
- 1:21:52[SPEAKER_03]: And I think, in a way, or only align herself with Genesis, because she wanted to be with the one who she believes she could benefit the most from.
- 1:22:01[SPEAKER_03]: So I think that's really the key distinction there is that Aurora recognizes that true survival of the fittest is not preservation itself preservation.
- 1:22:10[SPEAKER_03]: It's how can you uplift others?
- 1:22:13[SPEAKER_03]: And when Storm has that key decision where she has to decide, am I going to use this trigger?
- 1:22:18[SPEAKER_03]: to commit genocide, even if it's the only way to end the war, she destroys it because in storm's view, that's not an acceptable option.
- 1:22:28[SPEAKER_03]: She is going to find another way.
- 1:22:30[SPEAKER_03]: She's going to find an alternative solution.
- 1:22:32[SPEAKER_03]: It even if it means that she has to fight to her death with Genesis, that's more important to her as to ensure that all of the Iraqi can come forward into that future together and not leave anyone behind.
- 1:22:45[SPEAKER_01]: or is never going to fucking choose Stormside, right?
- 1:22:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you fucking hate it, you really does.
- 1:22:50[SPEAKER_01]: Or as the commentary for all of this, this is also a huge conversation about God, right?
- 1:22:57[SPEAKER_01]: So Arako was like, we have to fight to survive, which if we're making this the queer analogy, like we have to fight, we have to, we don't want it to be.
- 1:23:04[SPEAKER_01]: have to.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_01]: So it's how we embrace what makes us omega mutants and fight back because it's what's required of us to live.
- 1:23:11[SPEAKER_01]: But at a certain point, what does it mean to survive?
- 1:23:14[SPEAKER_01]: There's a giant image toward the end and this is almost using an oracirata word.
- 1:23:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is almost reductive to the point of this story down to this.
- 1:23:23[SPEAKER_01]: But one of the final images out of you and gives us in this opus that is X-Men Red is the two versions of land just hung in it out.
- 1:23:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's a caro act because it's another land at Ocaro.
- 1:23:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, or excuse me, anoraco, just like hung in it out.
- 1:23:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, let's get along.
- 1:23:39[SPEAKER_01]: And Ocaro has to be strict and strict and blind.
- 1:23:42[SPEAKER_01]: And then like, like, infected with landworms so that she'll see the world differently.
- 1:23:49[SPEAKER_01]: This unspotted driving her blind moment is gorgeous, but aura, I don't know, she's holding onto these old traditions.
- 1:23:56[SPEAKER_01]: There's the head and the box that summons the God that she can wipe out of existence to show everyone how fucking great she is, right?
- 1:24:02[SPEAKER_01]: And if you cross her, she's just going to wipe you out.
- 1:24:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like, she represents
- 1:24:05[SPEAKER_01]: not what survival should be, right?
- 1:24:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the journey for weaponless Zen realizing that, or who's kind of her god doesn't mean much at the end of the day, is a huge powerful moment, and then Storm has to use all of that.
- 1:24:18[SPEAKER_01]: God, there's so much potential here.
- 1:24:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's blowing mine.
- 1:24:21[SPEAKER_01]: I love it so much.
- 1:24:23[SPEAKER_01]: Now, how are we doing with the kind of the separation of church and state part of this conversation?
- 1:24:27[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think?
- 1:24:28[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's such an interesting conversation because we struggle with that in the real world.
- 1:24:33[SPEAKER_04]: We're like religion is the undercurrent of so much of how we live and go throughout our day, especially when it comes to government and what is law, who gets to choose the law, why are we, what are morals and where do they come from?
- 1:24:51[SPEAKER_04]: Um, and in this story, it's really trying to navigate.
- 1:24:54[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 1:24:55[SPEAKER_04]: Well, you guys have these gods.
- 1:24:57[SPEAKER_04]: What does it really mean to be a god?
- 1:24:59[SPEAKER_04]: And our gods, what we think they are.
- 1:25:02[SPEAKER_04]: And just because, you know, we have them should be follow them.
- 1:25:06[SPEAKER_04]: It's really this questioning of like, who gets to decide what a god is?
- 1:25:10[SPEAKER_04]: And then also, why should we worship gods?
- 1:25:13[SPEAKER_04]: When we kind of can do our own thing and we're not beholden to whatever they have going on.
- 1:25:19[SPEAKER_01]: And that leader that we're scared of because if she looks at us, she's going to wipe us out of existence, right?
- 1:25:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like they can- That's more real than what we're really scared of as a woman keeping a head in the box while she's throwing it from dinner.
- 1:25:31[SPEAKER_01]: I go baby tantrums on the floor.
- 1:25:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yes!
- 1:25:34[SPEAKER_04]: And so like that's like when we think of government to these people that we put in charge I think it also makes us question like do they have our best interest in mind Because like Joe was saying so much of survival of the fittest You know or so much of survival in general is adaptability
- 1:25:50[SPEAKER_04]: I think a row noting that to Nightcrawler is like the ability to choose as well, you know, if these deities or these people we put in charge aren't allowing for us to do that, allowing for us to choose what we want or what's best for us, allowing for us to adapt and grow and evolve should we listen to them.
- 1:26:10[SPEAKER_01]: This being the follow-up conversation after fashes a month on my show.
- 1:26:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's incredible.
- 1:26:19[SPEAKER_01]: I love this story, this character.
- 1:26:25[SPEAKER_01]: If this inspires listeners to go back and read Legion of X and X men read only, it'll take you a whole month.
- 1:26:31[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of content.
- 1:26:31[SPEAKER_01]: But it's brilliant.
- 1:26:33[SPEAKER_01]: And this oracirata character is...
- 1:26:35[SPEAKER_01]: gorgeous.
- 1:26:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, like, a hater, obviously, just epic epic fucking storytelling.
- 1:26:42[SPEAKER_01]: Then we land on the eyeball, or it's the squelch, it's the sunspot driving her blind and her little teeny pupil.
- 1:26:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's the tendrils in the back, it's the worms inhabiting the eye.
- 1:26:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we've just, it's just so great.
- 1:27:00[SPEAKER_01]: What are our resident thoughts on Orissa Rada as we're starting to conclude our conversation?
- 1:27:04[SPEAKER_01]: She got what she deserved.
- 1:27:07[SPEAKER_01]: She sure fucking do.
- 1:27:10[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think I can get the Dolores on bridge comparison out of my mind.
- 1:27:15[SPEAKER_03]: That's just literally hurt because that's also Dolores's arc in the Harry Potter series.
- 1:27:21[SPEAKER_03]: She's like, I'm going to create a law like create a system of law where only I have the authority.
- 1:27:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know, she's just going to, she has like literal like,
- 1:27:30[SPEAKER_03]: um like police kind of like that she creates like ad hoc words that like basically rat out people and like enforce her well um yeah i really hope that we do see this character again because i think there are a lot of really cool applications for her moving forward i'm just wondering like when we do see her if she comes back
- 1:27:48[SPEAKER_03]: Will there be any growth, will there be be any change or she just going to be the same character that she's been in since each of X and X been red?
- 1:27:56[SPEAKER_01]: We may not see her for years and years.
- 1:27:58[SPEAKER_01]: Probably not.
- 1:27:59[SPEAKER_01]: This is a fun playable character.
- 1:28:01[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, there's a little bit of setup that's required to introduce her, you know, I could do 100 episodes on a Racco Characters.
- 1:28:10[SPEAKER_01]: Every one of them is amazing.
- 1:28:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think like on two wolves
- 1:28:17[SPEAKER_01]: like there's a scarger than all of this.
- 1:28:21[SPEAKER_01]: Korra.
- 1:28:23[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, yeah, yeah, everyone of them has given enough to make us really fucking care about them.
- 1:28:27[SPEAKER_01]: This is a special storytelling.
- 1:28:29[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a storm in that crawler story at the end of the day, which I owe.
- 1:28:33[SPEAKER_01]: love.
- 1:28:33[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and Legion, we don't have time.
- 1:28:35[SPEAKER_01]: The theme of Legion is, I mean, everyone calls him crazy and insane, but like, if he's allowed to like thrive and take care of himself, like, and to take responsibility, it's I rule me.
- 1:28:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's the message that he carries at the end of the day.
- 1:28:51[SPEAKER_01]: fucking, okay, we have to wrap up, because we'll go off for hours, but this has been brilliant.
- 1:28:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to hear any final thoughts from either of you.
- 1:28:58[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to put this out the first week in December on the Patreon, anything you want to plug and where can people think of you?
- 1:29:04[SPEAKER_01]: So final thoughts, plugs and locations.
- 1:29:07[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go numb in the joe.
- 1:29:09[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, um, final thoughts.
- 1:29:13[SPEAKER_04]: I love X1 Red so much.
- 1:29:14[SPEAKER_04]: I, I'm going back and rereading it again now, too.
- 1:29:17[SPEAKER_04]: I want to, I need to go back and read all of the cocoons stuff now, but really like, I think these characters really make us question a lot about ourselves and about how we move in the world and how what we believe and I think that's a really great, um,
- 1:29:35[SPEAKER_04]: take away from this in December.
- 1:29:36[SPEAKER_04]: I don't have anything going on except for relaxing.
- 1:29:39[SPEAKER_04]: I'm tired.
- 1:29:41[SPEAKER_04]: No, you can find me on my Instagram handle number one x-im-in cosplay.
- 1:29:46[SPEAKER_04]: That's basically my handle for everything, but I'll be chilling.
- 1:29:49[SPEAKER_04]: I'll see you guys in 2026.
- 1:29:50[SPEAKER_04]: I love you both very much.
- 1:29:52[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you for being with me.
- 1:29:53[SPEAKER_01]: Have a good day.
- 1:29:54[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so final thoughts.
- 1:29:56[SPEAKER_03]: I love Exyn Red.
- 1:29:57[SPEAKER_03]: I think this is a very special book, not only for Storm, but because of the Aracco Mewons and what this book really has to say about power.
- 1:30:05[SPEAKER_03]: And how do you govern a society?
- 1:30:09[SPEAKER_03]: How do you organize a society?
- 1:30:11[SPEAKER_03]: How do you move forward?
- 1:30:13[SPEAKER_03]: To preserve a society?
- 1:30:17[SPEAKER_03]: How do you confront traditions or,
- 1:30:21[SPEAKER_03]: you know, outdated ways that hold us back, you know, how do we embrace change, but also find a way to make that change work for the best and for the betterment of our society.
- 1:30:33[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I just had a really good time reading this again because I call this one of my favorite characters and so I'm just one of my favorite characters.
- 1:30:41[SPEAKER_03]: Sadly, we didn't talk enough about Mother Righteous, but maybe that's for another episode.
- 1:30:48[SPEAKER_03]: As for what I have to plug, I write comic reviews for AIPT.com.
- 1:30:53[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what I'll be writing about in December, but follow me on Instagram at Friend of Dazzler.
- 1:30:59[SPEAKER_03]: I'm also on Blue Sky and Friend of Dazzler.
- 1:31:02[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll usually be posting what I'm reading or reviewing.
- 1:31:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, thank you for having me.
- 1:31:07[SPEAKER_03]: This was so much fun.
- 1:31:09[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm going to unleash my sociology therapy brain for just a moment and go big picture.
- 1:31:15[SPEAKER_01]: We are three queer friends from different experiences, just trying to fight to fucking survive these days.
- 1:31:21[SPEAKER_01]: And as a therapist, as a father of a queer kid, and as a queer man myself.
- 1:31:25[SPEAKER_01]: We over through a couple of evil gods there and we found a place at the table for a little while but we certainly did not predict the Uranus attack that hit us a little while back like we're looking around at our planet and everything has been kind of devastated and this is the remnants at the beginning of the Genesis war where we're all just kind of sitting around and looking at the scraps and going okay.
- 1:31:49[SPEAKER_01]: How do we rebuild?
- 1:31:50[SPEAKER_01]: And here's another fucking thread around your corner.
- 1:31:52[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like we want to have to fight to survive, but we have to.
- 1:31:56[SPEAKER_01]: There's always something to be learned.
- 1:31:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I think these conversations written by queer friends and allies in an epic at time of storytelling release.
- 1:32:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, they ring very loudly at the end of 2025 for me.
- 1:32:11[SPEAKER_01]: I love to this conversation, but we get to go eyeball horror for the rest of the month.
- 1:32:16[SPEAKER_01]: So stay tuned.
- 1:32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Next week where we get to talk about, I boy.
- 1:32:20[SPEAKER_01]: Just the whole thing.
- 1:32:21[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like that journey.
- 1:32:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's funny and he's gross.
- 1:32:24[SPEAKER_01]: There are so many holes with this character.
- 1:32:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I know everyone is not ready for the orb episode that's coming at the insect.
- 1:32:33[SPEAKER_01]: Third I will be quite intellectual, but with orb we just get to go ridiculous.
- 1:32:37[SPEAKER_01]: Fuck it.
- 1:32:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be a great time.
- 1:32:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited for it.
- 1:32:42[SPEAKER_01]: Tom McConner and Haram Scammer joining me for that, and it's the you're welcome by the way, Demand and Martini, who's probably listening for not making you do any eyeball episodes.
- 1:32:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm very happy about it.
- 1:32:55[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, everyone.
- 1:32:56[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 1:32:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to have resin and thoughts about this eyeball woman.
- 1:32:59[SPEAKER_01]: And probably have squelch nightmares in my sleep.
- 1:33:03[SPEAKER_01]: I wish you both well.
- 1:33:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'll see you all back here next time on the Grimmulkin Bay in Patreon.
