Speaker 1: see that they tried to dispute him, and they couldn't

Speaker 1: resist his wisdom. You see that this was a man

Speaker 1: full of faith and full of the Holy Spirit, full

Speaker 1: of power. Wow, this is a great man. I would

Speaker 1: have loved to be around him and see what his

Speaker 1: daily disciplines were. Amen. And we see that this is

Speaker 1: the first martyr of the Church. And so that word

Speaker 1: martyr in the Greek is market tar from pronouncing it right,

Speaker 1: and it equals witness the very thing that Jesus asked

Speaker 1: us to be. He asked us to witness for him

Speaker 1: all over the world. Amen, So let's jump into it

Speaker 1: and let's see what the Word has to say. So

Speaker 1: verse one, then the high Priest said, are these things? So?

Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Remember they accused him. They accused him of

Speaker 1: speaking and preaching against Moses and the law, and that

Speaker 1: Jesus was going to destroy the temple. So this will

Speaker 1: be his as we jump in here, right, And so

Speaker 1: the high Priest gets him to answer for these charges. Now,

Speaker 1: let's point out that this question launches the longest sermon

Speaker 1: dwelt in hearing. Now Stephan begins with the patriarch Abraham,

Speaker 1: just a command and a promise. Faith is movement. Faith

Speaker 1: is also obedience. Faith is leaving that which is familiar.

Speaker 1: Sometimes God says go before he explains why we need

Speaker 1: to go, before he gives an explanation, he just says go.

Speaker 1: Then he came out of the land of the Childeans

Speaker 1: and dwelt and hear. Abraham didn't fully obey at first.

Speaker 1: He stopped halfway in hearing until his father died. But

Speaker 1: God still worked with him a man. This shows the

Speaker 1: grace of God. Even partial obedience didn't cancel God's plan.

Speaker 1: But as you read the story, Hearing was his father,

Speaker 1: and for some reason they stayed in that place. I mean,

Speaker 1: Hearing was not his father. Hearing was a place where

Speaker 1: they delayed, and his father ends up passing away. Now

Speaker 1: have you ever been stuck in Hearing? A halfway point,

Speaker 1: a place between bondage and breakthrough? But God still calls

Speaker 1: us ford and man, thank you for your graciousness, So God,

Speaker 1: because I have found myself there plenty of times. It's

Speaker 1: not fun Verse five through seven, and it says God

Speaker 1: gave him no inheritance in it, not even enough to

Speaker 1: set his foot on. But even when Abraham or Abraham

Speaker 1: and Jacob we got the twelve patriarchs. Now circumcision, circumcision.

Speaker 1: There was a sign of the covenant. Later Israel clung

Speaker 1: to the symbol but forgot the heart of it. Circumcision.

Speaker 1: But spiritual circ decision. Spiritual circumcision is about the heart.

Speaker 1: twenty nine. And God wants to cut away bitterness. He

Speaker 1: wants to cut away pride, Hallelujah, unforgiveness, odd words, old wounds,

Speaker 1: and all fleshly patterns. God wants to cut and circumcise

Speaker 1: the heart. Amen, this is where our healing begins. We

Speaker 1: have to let things go. If you're holding to bitterness

Speaker 1: and unforgiveness, now is the time to let it go,

Speaker 1: to forgive that person. Circumcise a heart and add this

Speaker 1: to your prayerless add this prayer, Lord circumcised me from

Speaker 1: the inside. Let my heart be cleaned before you. Amen.

Speaker 1: Only the pure heart will see God. Allelujah. Now verse nine,

Speaker 1: of envy really is. And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold

Speaker 1: Joseph into Egypt. The God was with Joseph. Now, when

Speaker 1: Stephen chows Israel's pattern rejecting the very ones God sins,

Speaker 1: that seeks to destroy Joseph is a picture of Christ

Speaker 1: rejected by his brothers, but chosen by God, and God

Speaker 1: Egypt and Canaan, and our fathers found no subsistence. But

Speaker 1: and our fathers, and they were carried back to Second

Speaker 1: Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for

Speaker 1: they can do what they want. They can be disobedient

Speaker 1: to parents, they can run away from home, they can

Speaker 1: involve themselves into a more relatelationships, homosexual relationships, and think

Speaker 1: that they're right with God. They can be as rebellious

Speaker 1: and stubborn as they want to be and resist. They're

Speaker 1: resisting the Holy Spirit. They're sinning against the Word of God.

Speaker 1: I've seen some of the youth just steal like there's

Speaker 1: no problem, live like it's no problem. Yet they're in

Speaker 1: youth group, they're cussing out their pearans. We need to

Speaker 1: pray for this generation, Amen, I definitely need to pray.
